Great breakfast

By Ro I |

Best breakfast sandwiches. We found this local place, recommended by a friend. Would never have found it otherwise, because it doesn't look like much from the outside. But looks are deceiving, the food is really quite good. would recommend it to all my friends ad family.

Small Space, Big Value

Get there early, especially on Sunday! The seating is limited but worth the wait if you have time. This is an old school, family run breakfast/lunch only diner. The prices are very affordable and the service is quick and with a smile. I like to sit at the counter and watch these fantastic ladies whirl around making everyone's order. They even have a couple of tables outside if the weather is good. I always leave a member of the clean plate club!

I saw all the awesome reviews on this place & decided to give it a whirl !! I walked in & went straight to the restroom so I could wash my hands ( so glad I did ). I proceed to the back & happen to glance over & see a heb bag on top of a freezer. It contained hamburger meat , bread & some other items . The bag was just sitting there . How long had that bad been there ? Why wasn't the meat put in the freezer immediately? After seeing that I went ahead went to the restroom & left . This is extremely dangerous. I've had food poisoning twice & don't ever want it again . I will not return . I need to protect myself

Great spot for breakfast

The Hut is open on Sundays. I had their "Sunday Special" - the barbacoa omelet. It was very good. My wife had the veggie omelet and said it was very good. Coffee, salsa, tortillas, hash browns, etc were all great. Service was fast and friendly. We can definitely recommend The Hut.

Fantastic diner

We arrived just before rush hour and just as well as it got packed. The brunch came quickly with the coffee. I had to chase for refills; but apart from that the service was great and friendly

Hidden in Deco District

You might drive by this small diner on Fredericksburg Road. Next time, stop and enjoy the tiny Hut Diner. It's a small, casual local place with Southern hospitality. Good food and good prices.

Fantastic food at great prices

Really good pancakes, burgers, and sandwiches. Daily special is $6.99 and includes tea. Small diner with just a few booths and the bar. Everything is clean. Very friendly service.

Great lunch at The Hut

Stopped in on our Big 2015 Road Trip. The service and food are excellent, with generous portions of good grub at great prices. A nice stop on the old highway.

hidden gem for breakfast

My husband and I are from New Jersey. So we always love to enjoy a great diner. The Hut we found by accident while driving around looking for a good local place to have breakfast. The diner is small/ quaint little place. Actually quite busy to our surprise. We waited approximately 5 mins or so and then we're seated in a comfortable booth. Our waitress Ashley was very pleasant and helpful. She explained that this was a family owned diner. After reviewed the menu I tried their breakfast tacos which consisted of eggs, potatoes and sausage and John tried the Texas French Toast which also included scrambled eggs, sausage pattie and hash browns to his surprise. Both actually very good. The place may be small, but the southern hospitality was awesome. They have a drive-thru window, take-out so orders and outdoor seating to enjoy in Texas sun. Restrooms are clean. So stop on by while in neighborhood. Thanks again Ashley.

No. Jabba Is Not Here

If you have ever wanted to know exactly how your food is prepared, visit a real diner. I am talking about one of those food made fast, as opposed to fast food, early 20th century, small roadside eateries where seating is only window booths and stools at a kitchen side counter. Where a small brick and mortar food service is housed in nothing more than one long, narrow hallway. Can't find one anymore you say? Well, there happens to be one as near as the Art Deco district of Fredericksburg Rd. This barely re-invented and probably somewhat forgotten 60s diner near IH10 is alive and well and one busy little breakfast and lunch nook. No booths left so we found space at the counter. Service is instant. Soft drink for her and a cup of hot joe for me came in a flash while we considered our order. Though this place has acquiesced to the pressures of current hipsterism via its genuflection to a chicken and waffles offering, lots of basics still abound in the form of french toast, pork chops, pancakes, omelettes, hash browns, etc. Plenty of plates for lunch too, but we were there for a late breakfast. A waffle plate with sausage or bacon, 2 eggs and hash browns for $9 got the call. Coffee refills were anticipated at half cup intervals by one of the cooks as he and two other fine ladies also juggled the orders coming in to be filled by mounds of shredded potatoes browning along with bacon and eggs sizzling on the flat top, and battered chicken popping in the small fryer no more than 3 feet in front of us. If it all sounds good that's because it was. I almost felt like I was part of the action being so close to the griddle and watching the short order cooks glide effortlessly back and forth, without collision in such a small space, producing hot plates of picturesque comfort food in mere minutes. I was a bit jealous of their unharried demeanor and obvious cooking skills in the face of steady demand. The cornucopia of smells along with the visual poetry of the cooks enmeshed in a precise ballet of food preparation and movement among themselves like cogs and sprockets in a swiss clock was heady stuff. The downside, if you can call it that, was as a result of my close proximity to the action, I wore the smell of the grill and all of that good food home for the next few hours. Booths and stools are small and a challenge to accommodate my 6'1" presence. There are only a couple of booths that are big enough to make room for daddy. Still, I would return for the quality and price, service and experience even if I have to cram my legs against the counter again basically taking up the leg room for two stools. Some fresh made breakfast tacos also came home for later consumption. Are ya listenin'? H-m-m-m-m?

Everything looks good

Got an email about cheap eats in San Antonio. So decided to check out this place while sitting at the bar waiting for my food I noticed that everything looks so good while they preparing the food. I ordered the porky omelet and it was made fresh and hot and very good. Can't wait to try out the rest of their menu.

Good food in San Antonio's Deco District!

The Hut keeps upping their game. Improving and expanding the menu and the hours, too! It's a real diner experience: A counter, and a few booths. Not a big place, but you can enjoy the aromas of the food being prepared on the grill in front of you. The burgers here are all very good, with some creative spins. Breakfast is a good time to try the Hut, for the omelettes. Also breakfast tacos. Chicken and waffles, too! The Hut has special plates as well. Today I had the grilled fish and it was surprisingly good, plus the green beans (cooked with bacon) were delicious. A great spot for a Sunday breakfast!

Local gem for breakfast lovers

This place is one of those spots that you drive by everyday and never realize it exists.went here after living 2 years in SA. Boy, have I been wrong! This place is a old school diner but the taste is top notch. The service and food is impeccable. Everything we ordered here was great. The sausage is to die for. The fried chicken was out of this world. Highly recommended!
