Fantastic Food

By Tony R |

Simply phenomenal food and beverages, and nice ambience. Definitely pricey, but you should expect that going in. The Corn Chowder was fantastic and my wife said they were the best Crab Cakes she had ever had. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Wonderful Brunch Experience

By Carla R |

I had the tuna tartare with caesar salad for brunch & it was divine, the coffee however was a little burnt. I am from Melbourne so might be a little bit a coffee snob! Absolutely gorgeous decor & surroundings! Would definitely go back.

I go there a lot!

By Aureliano M |

Excellent lunch, rarely disappointed (except the caesar salad as a starter, too meager for the price). The burger is the best I have ever eaten, and the fish and chips very garnished and delicious. Desserts are a killing, as a bonus the banana split killer! The service is impeccable and the setting unique.

Disappointed with the service

By Eti |

I went there for a drink after lunch last week... The place itself is beautiful and has a great interior and decoration. The cocktail was also nice but the service, I must say, VERY VERY disappointing. When I entered the restaurant I felt like I was invisible. There were 4 or 5 waiters walking around but nobody seemed to bother to say hello or ask what I wanted. When I finally got seated I felt very uncomfortable. About 10 minutes after getting my order the waiter came up to my table and brought the check without saying or asking anything. I was just wondering... do I look like someone who asks for the wifi code and sits there for hours over a cup of coffee until a celebrity turns up or what? I mean, the restaurant was not particularly busy after lunch, it's not that people were circling around like vultures to find an empty spot... But doesn't matter. I paid and left. Still smiling and saying goodbye but nobody even looked at me. :( Alright, I understand that I'm not a VVIP splurging thousands of dollars every time I go to eat out with my entourage but come on... Having good manners and being nice with the guest doesn't cost anything. Or maybe it does...

Well worth a Visit

By Gary L |

1st time in LA & had to try out the Ivy it has a great setting lovely flowers arrangements, I had the NY Strip steak & loved it if over again I will definitely visit.

Can’t go wrong here

By Tom Buster |

BEVERLY HILLS STAPLE- one of our favorite spots for a special night out. This restaurant is beautiful and the staff cares about every detail. Our dinner was delicious. We ordered margaritas, the squash blossom, the scallops, the crab claws, the mussels, mashed potatoes, and grilled veggies. Probably could have ordered the half size of the mussels. Antonio was our waiter- he was fantastic

A great spot and top restaurant

By NWLondontraveller |

Sat outside on the patio for dinner and this is a beautiful spot any time of the day or evening. Would only go if you can sit outside though. Food is comfort food and all excellent. Fried chicken, spaghetti and meatballs and key lime pie were all delicious. This is a must on any trip to LA.

Good location, nice decor, unfriendly and overwhelmed staff. Never again.

By Maxi B |

Never Ever! The restaurant lives by its name. Despite a table reservation, we had to wait half an hour and the reception was extremely unfriendly. Tables too small and prices inappropriate for this service. And the friendliest reception on our three-week trip to America. Not recommended. Eckhard Brockhoff, Essen

Lunch

By Asadullah Kazmi |

Its was a disappointing experience for from food to service. I don’t ever remember such slow and sluggish service to an extent that it was bothering. The food was quite disappointing from salads to main course. If one wants a bad but very expensive food then this is the right place.

Wonderful luncheon with friends and family

By Jennifer231 |

Our table inside was waiting for 9 of us. The service was amazing! The food was delicious and inside the restaurant is so cute and charming. I love the IVY and will be back. 10/10 and I am super picky. I had the lobster club which was so good with large pieces and chunks of lobster not all mixed into a salad. Dessert was fantastic too.

Great lunch.

By LMA2214 |

The food was great servers were stuffy but we expected it with the crowds and media that covers this restaurant. The street is great with a few fun shops if a wait is needed. We ordered sugar snap beans which is the best ever. The enchiladas, burrata salad, and mozzarella salad were great. The Cobb Salad and corn chowder was ok (lots of tarragon) The cheeseburgers were below average. The cocktails, the Ivy Mojito and Gin Grapefruit were perfect.

Amazing food and service

By Dave H |

As usual great service and one of my favorite spots to dine for a superb lunch in LA. Highly recommend this staple for smart casual or formal meals

Good, but Expensive

By emmajmwylie |

The restaurant itself is really cool, the way it’s decorated is beautiful. The food is good, although it’s one of the most expensive restaurants I’ve visited in LA. If you visit, definitely consider ordering the lobster ravioli. It is AMAZING, hands down the best pasta i’ve ever had. The soft shell crab is another great item, and the salads are good as well. I would definitely recommend their pastas, seafood, salads, and vegan/vegetarian options over their steaks and chicken, though. They’re good, but the other options are more worth your money. I’d probably recommend this restaurant for special occasions because of how expensive it is. Service is good, although it does get very crowded so make sure to get a reservation.

Best

By Elizabeth B |

I loved everything about the Ivy. Great food, friendly service, flashy people and absolutely charming floral, shabby chic decor. I’d like to move in.

Highly recommended: iconic place in LA

By Cecilia S |

Despite the terrible reviews we read on the app before our dinner, we decided to go anyway and we did well! Delightful place, impeccable service and divine food. The lobster club sandwich is delicious as are the fried courgette flowers with feta inside. Prices exactly like other top restaurants in LA. Absolutely recommended.

very overpriced generic meal

By Deb |

There are things to love about The Ivy: the decor, the complimentary Champagne upon arrival....it's a place to see and be seen judging from the overdressed clearly affluent clientele. But the food just didn't add up for me. It wasn't bad but it was nothing special and definitely not worth the exorbitant prices. I dine in SF, NYC, frequently and am used to pricey dinners but I expect the food to measure up and this did not.

A joy for brunch!

By andysteve01 |

You arrive into this colourful and over the top restaurant and feel very special. Complimentary champagne on arrival is always a great way to start. We have always enjoyed this place on our trips to West Hollywood. Allegedly a great place to celebrity spot! But regardless of that we had a wonderful brunch here… a fantastic menu, great vibe and old school service make for a brunch with a special difference. It is a slight indulgence price wise but when in L.A.! A great place to cure a heavy night before… you leave smiling!

Happy place in Los Angeles

By Sfd-n-chZ |

It is a beautiful cafe colorfully decorated with fresh rose bouquets that adorn the entire restaurant. The portions are huge so keep that in mind before being tempted to order everything off the expansive menu! Highly recommend the crab cakes.

A tourist trap for good reason

By Michael S |

The Ivy probably looks it’s best from dusk onwards as there’s no doubt it’s rustic charm could alternatively be perceived as tired. We found the food unpretentious with a leaning to fresh wholesome dishes, a welcome change from other places in LA that are trying too hard. It’s not cheap, but good food and service never is, particularly when the people watching is free.

Unforgettable Dining Experience – One of the Best Meals of My Life

By DonnaGCNY |

If you’re in Los Angeles and looking for a truly memorable dining experience, The Ivy is a must. As someone with hearing impairment, I asked for a quieter corner table when making our reservation. To my absolute surprise and gratitude, the maitre d’ seated us in a private room, a thoughtful gesture that made me feel seen and valued. The ambiance throughout the restaurant is beautiful and welcoming, filled with fresh flowers and a relaxed yet elegant energy. The food? Outstanding. I had the rack of lamb, and it was cooked to perfection — tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I finished with a homemade chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream hot fudge and caramel sundae, which was decadent and unforgettable. From start to finish, this was a 10/10 experience. Amazing food, stellar service, and a setting that feels both refined and deeply personal. Can’t wait to return!

Perfect!

By Olivia Malone |

Everything was beyond amazing. The food, the atmosphere but more so, the waitress who served us. We never caught her name, but we visited on 14th December at night time and she was beyond fabulous. She even took multiple photos of us after our meal, acting as our own photographer! The loveliest server we had during our week visit to Los Angeles. I will visit each and every time I come here! BEYOND brilliant on all levels!!!

A fine dinner

By Samuel M |

This is a very good restaurant. It has a sister restaurant in Santa Monica. It is somewhat old school, but it is consistent and reliable.

LOVE IT!

By M.. |

I easily found a booking for 7 guests, loved the food and the atmosphere. Great for lunch and very Instagram worthy! Lol

Lovely place with good service

By Sinttu |

Had lunch in Ivy. Spicy swordfish tacos, they were good also had vouple drinks, which were good too. Service was excellent. Don’t try going without reservation. Lot’s of people. I think the place is even more fanous now, when it is on Tiktok. Lot’s of young people asking for Mario and sundae 😊

Exceptional

By Mitch H |

Great food, nice menu, nice place to go with friends or alone. You may even see some celebrities there...

Great little restaurant with a pretty setting

By DrNeilG-UK |

I always visit the ivy when in Beverly Hills. The food is good and the atmosphere great. Worth a trip there. I am not sure what has happened with the complementary champagne on arrival - I have always had this on previous visits but there was none this time around.

Excellent option for lunch

By Felipe S |

Very rich. An interesting and very well done menu. Varied options for all tastes. My favorite was the lobster pasta.

Still fantastic!

By Bruce4fun |

Lovely Sunday brunch. Friendly service and really well prepared food. Nice chill vibe still after all these years….the key lime pie was stellar

Immaculate

By Owen C |

We dined on a hot evening outside - 2 adults and 2 children. Everything was beautifully presented - tables / waiting staff / food. We phoned through to say we were running late (traffic!!!) - were presented with complimentary champagne on arrival as we were late! (I'm sue this isn't unique but was a very nice touch). All food and wine was great - children really enjoyed it. Not cheap but when in LA!

Jan 1

By Brenda P |

First time to try the in and out burger. It was so crowded in there. One couldn’t even enjoy their food. Not enough seats. People waiting on their food and all around the people that were eating. Burgers were good but fries 🍟 not tasty. Not sure I’d go here again

It will grow on you

By Vic S |

We asked our daughter where she wanted to celebrate her USC graduation and she requested the IVY. We had many great meals at their sister property (the Cottage) in La Jolla when she was at UCSD. She had gone to dinner at the IVY when she first arrived in LA, and we felt it fitting to host a small dinner party of 12 of family & her posse. Worked directly with India (another USC grad), and her staff and they made it effortless. It was a friday nite, and a larger party/table can be problematic for most restaurants, but not at IVY. The setting was lovely, very french provincial ....beautiful table settings, flowers everywhere it was ideal. My daughter played host at one end, and dad at the other so the substantial bill could work its way to me...(cheaper than another semester @ USC). We were seated near the kitchen/bar area and I am sure we made most of the noise that evening, but the staff worked tirelessly, maybe one/two staff handled the tables themselves including endless prosecco for all. We used the in house bakery (which made it really easy), and guests are still ranting about the coconut cake for dessert with sparklers. Thanks India and your hard working crew for helping us make a evening of memories celebrating a huge milestone in our daughter life.

Early Mother’s Day Celebration 2025!

By Nunez2018 |

Early Mother's Day celebration! The food was incredible! Our server Alan had great recommendations. Like the mimosas with Champagne Lanson. They were one of the best I've had. Definitely try the Crab Cakes and Coconut Raspberry Cake. The place is so cozy and totally lives up to it's reputation. The fresh flowers and dishes complete the vibe nicely. My Mother had a great time! Thank you to all the staff for all the attention.

Average California Casual

By o2mpx |

Average California Casual with excellent service. Wait staff was friendly and responsive. Corn chowder was a bit spicy. Shrimp tacos fairly average. The soft shell crab was crispy without being dry, and the scallops appetizer was tasty. Food wise, overall still average. Given these times, outdoor table, but comfortable and pleasant surroundings.

Outstanding dinning!

By deestevens0n |

I had been a guest at The Ivy many years ago and remembered this quaint restaurant with fond memories. On my recent trip back to LA, I had the opportunity to once again visit The Ivy. My experience was not disappointing. This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Being across the street from the beach, you have a beautiful view of the ocean. Each table had arrangements of fresh, colorful roses. The charming staff takes great pride in exceptional service. With all of this being said, the atmosphere and outstanding service is only outdone by the quality of the delicious meal. Portions are large and absolutely delicious. I'm a person who loves desserts, and have been known to not finish a meal so I have room for dessert. My meal was so delicious, I cleaned my plate and had no room for dessert. I've eaten at wonderful restaurants all over the world, and The Ivy is tops on my list of favorites.

Chic and Charming

By Jigsaw |

Must go. The decor is amazing, the service is top-notch. The food is really good, not amazing. The scene is fun and exciting. Parking is not the best.

Overrated and poor service from staff

By paulstone94 |

We was recommended this place from someone who went a few years ago whilst in LA, But sadly it failed to live up to our expectation or the standard of other high end restaurants we have been too. It seemed once a great restaurant tucked away in LA and decor has a charm of its own. But going by our own experience and others reviews, it’s common to get poor service. The food was nice, but nothing special to outweigh the poor quality of staff. So I wouldn’t return or recommend it, much better restaurants around.

Lovely restaurant, service lacking

By LA_Phil50 |

My daughter and I often dine at the Henry, across the street, we decided to splurge and try the Ivy for a Sunday lunch. Entering the restaurant, sitting by the fireplace, with beautiful bouquets of roses every where was delightful. The food and drinks were quite good. If the service had matched I’d give them 5 stars, but service was really deficient. Service: 1. It took at least 15 minutes or more for someone to greet us and take a drink order. This finally happened after I asked a server walking by if there was a server assigned to our table. 2. With every course served they always tried to put the food down to the wrong person. We always had to correct them. For the price we were paying, this should not have happened. 3. We asked if the fish and chips might be big enough to share. The server assured us, emphatically, that it was only enough for 1 person. It was huge. So we wound up with two main courses when 1 shared would have been more than adequate. I find being served large plates of food I can’t possibly finish to be unpleasant. 4. It took forever for them to take our desert and coffee order. We ordered the profiteroles. I asked what Ice cream was inside, I like vanilla. The server assured us one of the profiteroles had vanilla. There was no vanilla ice cream served. The bill, 2 drinks, 2 coffees, one appetizer, 2 main dishes, and one desert came to $228. I added an 18% tip. For the service provided, I did not enjoy paying this bill. Honestly, I left the restaurant with the words “tourist trap” buzzing in my head.

The best brunch by far!

By Nick H |

The best brunch by far! Makes you feel special, great service. Excellent quality food & fabulous cocktails

excellent Breakfast, Brunch, Dinner place

By Frank W |

Colorful restaurant, fresh roses everywhere, complimentary champagne, and .... great food and excellent service

Chic dining in LA

By Traveller worldwide |

Very casual location in LA. The outdoor terrace is very nice to sit in (it's not as crowded inside, but you're a bit more 'off the grid') - the tables are stylishly decorated with lush bouquets of roses, but not overly so. Very attentive and friendly staff, who of course want to 'sell' you all the extras and extras. The food is great and was very delicately prepared. Highly recommended for a visit to LA if you want to eat out in style - but it's anything but cheap.

Delicious and Beautiful Setting

By B and L |

We do not live in LA, but we have eaten at this Ivy restaurant many times. We enjoy taking people there fo lunch. We love sitting outside when the weather is nice! It’s fun for people watching and the patio itself is very scenic and beatific with all of the flowers. Chanel is also next door so you can stop by there, before you have the Valet get your car for you! My favorite item on their menu is the fried chicken. The enchiladas are also yummy too! You get a free glass of champagne to sip on while you are waiting for your meal. They never take too long to bring your meal though. They give you little silver dollar size cookies with your bill, which are tasty too! I love sitting outside, but last Christmas we sat inside by the Christmas tree and that was pretty and romantic. They have fabulous appetizers and desserts too our favorite dessert are the profiteroles. You can’t go wrong at the Ivy. It’s a little pricy, but the food is good. The portions are good size. The surrounds are nice. And is just a try Beverly Hills experience.

Don't judge a book by its cover....

By Michel V |

Yes, it is expensive... Yes, it is a place to be watch people and to be watched... Yes, the décor is a bit over the top... Yes, it is in a very posh part of the city... So, if you get put off by any of these statements, don't go there. But realize you miss the opportunity of having a truly excellent experience. The food and drinks were excellent, and service was very professional. The interior was a bit much for me, but where else can you find colorful roses on almost every single table (and in the restrooms!)???

good on so many levels

By barbarabuilder |

food is always good at the IVY and don't miss there famous ivy gimlet, it is a great place to people watch so make sure to make a reservation and sit outside. btw its not the cheapest place in town

Food ok but service very rude

By A. Bennett |

Food ok but dreadful service. In our case, the bill was served to us just after teas provided. Even though we were told no rush, another waiter returned to take bill while we were still drinking which prompted me to put my credit card into sleeve. Waiter returns and picks up my card then shoots straight into the back of the restaurant out of eyesight before I can request a card reader in my presence. He then returns requesting card pin, as obviously whatever method he was attempting failed. I am then escorted to the back of the restaurant where the staff are working to make payment. When I get there I am met by our original waiter. I attempt to ask him why a reader was not brought to the table and he cuts me off with, “I’ll be right with you.” I try to ask again and he barks at me, “I WILL BE RIGHT WITH YOU” Awkwardly, I stand with the staff waiting to be told when I can pay after being put in my place. Once paid, the waiter returns bill to my table so service charge can be added. Before we leave another waiter takes the bill and checks service value as he is walking away and sees I have left nothing. He does a u turn and places bill back on table reminding me I have the opportunity to reward them for outright rudeness……… my wife and I just leave the still unfinished tea behind. Really poor experience for us I wouldn’t recommend to my friends and family.

Great afternoon lunch

By M4MOM |

The food was wonderful. My teen daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed lunch. She is a car buff so has fun checking out the variety of sports and luxury cars. There is valet service out front. Be sure to book a reservation. It is busy

Beautiful setting!

By Emma S |

Great spot for a girls lunch. Complimentary bubbles on arrival was a lovely surprise while we waited to be seated. Great vibe, restaurant was buzzing even for a 2pm lunch booking. The menu pricing is up there, as you would expect. Food was nice, service wasn't quite as slick as I expected. Plenty of great people watching!

This is the place to see and get seen!

By gayledubois |

It is a beautiful place and just has a fun atmosphere and you never know who you will see here. The food is ok and very pricey but that isn't really the main reason to go there anyway.

Horrible experience

By Karla T |

Horrible experience. Ended up getting sick after dining at the restaurant. I called to let the management know again not to request a refund simply to make them aware of our concerns and the manger India was very disrespectful towards me and ignored all my calls and emails. She was so unprofessional it blows my mind how they allow much mangers with very poor customer service and very ugly attitudes to manage the restaurant. It’s such a disgrace and very disgusting. If I can give her a zero on her behavior I would.

Great Romantic place

By Marc |

The atmosphere, decoration & the food are just great. All the beautiful fresh Roses there are. Coming from flower land Holland;-) Just love the restaurant. And allways take new people who have never been there..

Great scene and AMAZING service!

By Donny L |

Literally the service was impeccable! Had no choice but to leave a big tip! The food was good, but not great. My wife didnt like her ribs, but I don't blamer her. They weren't anything speciel. My fried chicken was awesome! They need a better option of drinks for sober customers. No mocktails, no fun drinks, just soda and water.

Cool place and bad service

By Celebrity P |

This is a famous and amazing restaurant. It was in the Whitney Houston movie called "The Bodyguard." There are three small problems: Firstly, you can NOT be in a hurry when you go here. Secondly, the service is REALLY bad. Thirdly, it's pretty expensive.

Very nice restaurant good food

By S M |

We arrived at 12:30, the restaurant was full. The hostess was very welcoming and she got us a table right away. The food was great, the ambiance was great, the waiters were friendly and served the food very fast, they gave us three delicious scones, we had Guacamole and homemade chips, Ivy Caesar salad, Tuna tartare it was very good, Pizza Margherita with Italian mozzarella, tomatoes and basil, Burrata with roasted baby beets, arugula and pine nuts and for dessert we had a Brownie topped with vanilla gelato and hot fudge sauce, everything was delicious. The only thing is that the prices are a bit high. Also, something important we noticed is that a lot of the customers left a lot of food on their plates, we asked a waiter if that issue is common and he said that at least 60 percent of the food gets thrown away, that is very sad, people should be mindful of what the size or the portion of the plate will be, maybe they could share. It is important, specially during a pandemic situation like we are now living, that we take care of our world.

Not worth the money and time

By iZumba m |

I would not go back here again for another chance. Please also be careful with your bill, they really overcharge you. Drinks were horrible and were incorrect drinks. I did not make a big deal for $12 overcharge, but deducted from their tip!!! Rude service and food is overpriced for what it tastes now. Not worth going here, just spend it somewhere nice . For 2 ppl I had spent almost $300 and no one asked me why I did not drink my cocktail or why branzino was untouched. Do not wallet park the car either here!

Birthday lunch - yum!

By Deeee1985 |

I was in town with my husband and six-year-old daughter for my birthday weekend and had been wanting to check out The Ivy for years! I didn't know what to expect in light of the many recent subpar reviews! But we really, really liked the food and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch! We shared a chicken avocado salad, margarita pizza, and calamari. I also loved the sangria! Lunch was about $120 and they even brought out a cute dessert with a sparkler! I just loved it all! The service was excellent as well and the decor is of course beautiful. Yes, there are plenty of posers. Dress to impress, everyone is judging everyone here. :D

Perfection

By Lucie |

Still one of the best restaurants in LA. Lobster risotto is still my favourite and cooked to perfection. Staff are super friendly and there is always a great vide. Sitting outside on the terrace is a must! Can’t wait to go back!

NEVER FAILS TO PLEASE!

By Along came Polly |

This place Never Fails!!!! The ambiance is perfect, the staff are fast and friendly, they are always busy but you are never waiting long for anything. The drinks are beautiful, the food is outstanding. I cannot pick a fault with this restaurant, lunch or dinner, I Highly recommend!!!! An LA must!!!

Perfect Saturday afternoon lunch.

By Corey |

Family came to ivy and loved the Hollywood scene. Food was perfect. Service was perfect. Amazing time by all.

Not what we had hoped for….

By Moritz v |

We visited this restaurant recently and, unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. The food was okay, but far from memorable. I ordered my steak medium, but it arrived well done. The rest of the dishes were passable, but nothing stood out in terms of flavour or presentation. What really left a negative impression, however, was the service. All of our plates were served with greasy rims and visible fingerprints, as if they had not been properly cleaned. That alone was off-putting. After we finished our meal, the dirty plates remained on the table for about 15 minutes. Our waiter was sitting across the room, focused on his phone rather than attending to guests. The dishes at the table next to us remained there for 30 Minutes Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity. With more attention to detail – both in the kitchen and from the staff – this could be a much better experience.

If not part of in crowd, stay out

By djh1960 |

This lovely restaurant, with its gorgeous floors and perfectly maintained and decorated space, appears at first blush to lived up to its reputation. But the enchanting arrival quickly melted away to disappointment. We brought my niece here after she begged us to go to the famous “Ivy”. She hungered for the Beverly Hills haute experience. It was surreal, like a Woody a Allen movie. We were lead past the patio where the “beautiful people”, along with older women who were victims of bad plastic surgery, dined; then through the front dining room’s elite crowd, and finally to a back room where only a family with a baby and another tourist family were seated. My niece’s face fell in disappointment— as if it had been rubbed in her a bucket of silly tourist slime. So we were to treated to the Ivy’s spotty service, ok food, and absurd prices but without the mystique. Lunch entrees included a “fresh made” cheese enchilada with white rice and beans for $32, a hamburger for $42, so on and so forth. One of the appetizers we ordered never came - though at some point we realized we got one we had not ordered. My advice: if you are reading this review then you “do not belong” at the Ivy, and should stay away. Unless, of course, you want to be shunted to a back room, left with mediocre service and the most expensive cheese enchilada ever. anywhere!!!!

Good for Pasta

By AusTravellerVIP |

Stopped in just before they closed one night last week. We dined inside and there were a few table still occupied. We selected a couple of nice pasta dishes, the spaghetti meatballs was the highlight. Good wine list too. Service was good,

Delightful lunch.

Delicious food and fun people watching. The fried chicken was surprisingly good! Fun interior decor and clean bathrooms.

It reminded me of MONSTER IN LAW!!!

By Bryan and G |

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the IVY RESTAURANT on Robertson Blvd. We began with EASY, EASY VALET PARKING, right out front. The attendant was very friendly and professional!!! We were met inside by the greeter, who gave us a table for two out front. It's just what we wanted!!! It reminded me of MONSTER IN LAW. We were NEXT met by our server(s), who went through the entire menu choices. We started with flat PANNA WATER!!! Inadvertently, we were told that they still served CHICKEN ENCHILADAS. Although that wasn't the case, the CHEF agreed to make them, as a courtesy. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! WE ORDERED A VARIETY OF THINGS FROM THE MENU: Caesar Salad, and 2 Bowls of Corn Chowder. NEXT, Chips with Guacamole. For my partner, he had the Chicken Enchiladas. For myself, I had the Swordfish with Fries, and Lobster Ravioli. It was a delicious combination!!! We had the absolute best service. We were given the Chicken Enchiladas, but I was also perfectly happy substituting the Swordfish for the Sea Bass. While we were dining, we were lucky enough to have the TMZ TOUR drive by.

Romantic

By Soha F |

My boyfriend surprised me with a visit to this magical place as soon as we landed to LA. I don't want to give it away and tell you too much detail because I was surprised with so many beautiful factors in this place that I would love for you to experience on your own. You will be happily surprised by beautiful people, staff, guests and aromas as you experience your afternoon here. I have not been to the Santa Monica location, however the West Hollywood location was superb.

Disappointing

By samthayes |

Not usually one to complain much less leave a review but this was a very off night at the Ivy. Service was terrible, too many revolving servers, no idea who our lead waiter was or why he wasn’t checking up on us. Drinks took forever and arrived incorrect. No apologies or efficiency in bringing back the correct drinks. Some of our food was ok, some was awful — soft shell crabs that were supposed to be sautéed arrived deep fried and were inedible. They refused to split the gratuity-included $1000+ check onto more than 2 cards (we wanted to split on 3 cards). It was a Sat night so maybe busier than usual but come on Ivy you should be better. You go to the Ivy because you don’t want to worry about all the above nonsense, not to put up with it.

Ivy first time, lived up to expectations

By Andrew L |

Fun atmosphere, excellent service, food was great. We had a variety of foods including tuna tartare, salads, crab salad, Brussels, pizza and ravioli. Cocktails were also wonderful, especially the Rose sangria. Offered a variety of non-alcoholic options as well.

first timer, now a lifer!

By Jarrod L |

Took my mom to The Ivy for the first time and it was such a nice experience. Even as a local, I could see why it is so popular. The space feels bright and welcoming and the staff was friendly and attentive. We tried the lobster ravioli and it was amazing, rich and flavorful. Everything else we ordered was also fresh and delicious. The atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal while catching up with my mom. It is a great spot if you want a special meal while showing friends or family around LA. I would definitely go back.

Enjoyable

By Shahid Butt |

Enjoyable meal and good food as ever. I felt the prices have gone up and it was a little more expensive than it should have been. It’s basic Californian food. Not exotic or rare delicacies. But it’s priced as the latter

Great drinks, fun staff

By Aly |

The LA G&T continues to be the best drink! All the flowers were gorgeous for a fun girls night out on the patio. Plenty warm with the heaters, too.

Overpriced. Much nicer places

By Maribak |

There are so many nicer and better value money places in LA. Do not waste your time. Somewhere charging $40 for spaghetti bolognese is shocking. Staff were also really rude and rushed the overpriced meal. Recommend Ago and Cecconis

Not worth it in a city with some many better options

By snshn3 |

I will start with the positives: We were quickly greeted upon arrival, from valet parking to the hostess and then welcomed with a glass of champagne. Wonderful! Unfortunately things went down from here. We were seated inside the restaurant in the yellow room towards the back. Not the best tables. The waiter was lukewarm, almost annoyed. Everyone from the staff was rushing around to the point that there were broken dishes. The food was good, to my surprise not as expensive as I imagined. I should mention we were there for lunch. My biggest disappointment was the bathroom. Only one bathroom in the entire restaurant for both, men and women. To top it it was not even a nice bathroom. My guest bathroom at home is much nicer. I was shocked! They do have another bathroom actually, upstairs by their warehouse. It was embarrassing for this type of establishment. Not worth going here, especially for the level of variety of quality restaurants in the area. Lesson learned.

Deserves ten stars. Amazing dinner

By P C |

We came for dinner and sat on the patio. From the first moment our server was absolutely amazing and really made the whole night something special, going out of her way to make our evening. This even included our own family photoshoot within the restaurant which really is a beautiful place with fabulous decor and lots of fresh flowers. The food is first class. We had the special - a Mediterranean Branzino, the swordfish and the fried chicken. All were simply delicious. The desserts were as good and the profiteroles were utterly fantastic. Overall this is one of the highlights of our holiday win California and one of the best family meals we have ever enjoyed.

Wonderful dinner

By dbase118 |

We went to the Ivy for dinner and were not disappointed. Our server was very pleasant and personable, the food was great and they brought out a wonderful dessert to celebrate my daughters birthday. Each table had pillows and beautiful roses making you feel very welcome and comfy.

Lost its charm. Yes it’s the

By Rocky S |

Lost its charm. Yes it’s the pandemic and we’re now spaced out on the sidewalk. That’s ok. But their excuse for no longer giving out glasses of champagne makes no sense. And while the fried chicken is still excellent, they cut the spinach and halved the corn and other sides. Why? And had to ask for more water and largely ignored by waiter. I won’t return until after pandemic - not at those prices for an unenjoyable experience at more formerly favorite restaurant 😢

Entertaining Place to Visit, Good Food, Prices a Bit Much!

By Bub9999 |

We (two couples) recently visited LA for the first time. We were looking for a good lunch spot for after our 1/2 day LA tour, and the hotel recommended The Ivy. I wasn't familiar with the reputation of this place as being a place to see and be seen, but I will say it didn't disappoint. In short, our visit seemed to personify LA with some great people watching. Our waiter was a bit quirky and pushy at times, but overall ok. The food was quite good. We started with an order of guacamole and some stuffed squash flowers (hard to find on the east coast and so good!). For meals, a couple of us had the cobb salad, my husband had soft shell crab & a Caesar salad, and my friend a grill chicken entrée. All were quite good, although the chicken a little on the dry side. The complementary champagne upon arrival was a nice touch, and the drinks were very good (mine in particular - a tequila, blood orange, jalapeno combination - was EXCELLENT!). To end this decadent lunch, we shared the desert tasting plate... It was quite large (even for four) and there was plenty left behind --- that said, each of the deserts was better than the next with the coconut and red velvet cakes really standing out. Come expecting to spend more on lunch than you have on some of your nicest dinners. All in all, it was a fun, energetic atmosphere. Definitely "LA" so plenty of pretense, plastic and showmanship --- but isn't that what we come to see in this city?

Would not stay again

By fapan |

Nice place. Los Angeles average pizza, soggy tacos, sweets to avoid, wine 38 usd per glass (but these are L.A. prices). If I lived here I wouldn't go back.

Ivy remains as fabulous as ever!

By Reevemama |

Ivy is still the most beautiful and delicious restaurant! Fresh flowers on every table, amazing fresh baked bread and fresh delicious food. Absolutely love it!

Pretty but touristy and ridiculously expensive

By Ann S |

Yes, you get a "complimentary" glass of champagne on arrival, but the food itself is unreasonably expensive so, one way or the other, you're paying for the champagne. It's pleasant to sit outside. Food was ok but not outstanding I wouldn't go back.

A Memorable Family Celebration

By Elian D |

A special family moment marked by an outstanding dining experience. Every plate impressed, and the waiter offered spot-on suggestions, including sparkling drinks that stood out immediately. The seafood option was excellent, and the dessert with tropical notes finished everything perfectly. The atmosphere feels warm and intimate, matching its well-known standing. Decorative details and presentation add to the charm. It was an enjoyable outing, and the entire team made it feel effortless.

Amazing Experience and Food!

By Joe C |

This might have been the Best Steak of my life. Had a table outside with my mother and the Food was just spectacular! Awesome Staff!

Do Not Eat here with children

By KatE |

The Food was expensive for the quality we were served ! Told to keep our 2 year old quite . He was laughing too aloud apparently! Which was not the case he was not loud at all In fact he was perfectly behaved. They suggested we take him out into the street ! Would never eat here again . Overrated is a understatement!

Horrible food!

By Alex Ahmad |

The food was horrible we order fish taco, pizza and pasta : presentation was bad, taste was bad, bad

I want to go again.

By Paradise59349841193 |

It's a lovely place to go and then come back. The food is delicious and there are many raw flowers! The staff at the shop was kind too. The things on display were also stylish and cosy!

Delicious food, poor service

By brunamontebello |

The atmosphere of the restaurant is super nice, I ordered the fried chicken and it was wonderful, I highly recommend it! The service could be better.

Missing the mark with kids options

By nathanfreeman82 |

This is the second time we have dined at The Ivy, this time included a 5 year old child. Whilst the meals and drinks were amazing as always, there was limited options for kids with the portion sizes being easy to big for a child to finish. Our son had a bowl of pasta with butter and it was an adult size, leaving alot left over. The restaurant didn't not have WiFi. It was a pleasant surprise to have a birthday brownie brought out, in the booking comments I noted it was my birthday. It is good to see they take note of comments in the booking. Overall a fantastic experience as always, only losing 1 star due to kids options and no WiFi.

The worst!

By Lorrainedf |

I have lived in LA for 30 years, and been in the hospitality business luxury high end hotels for more than that. I have been to The Ivy a few times but never had a good experience. It’s been a number of years since I have been so I thought I would give it another chance, and went to celebrate my birthday this last weekend. Everything about the dinner and experience was even worse than I remember. First of all the attitude of the staff are like they are doing you a favor. The food and drinks are very mediocre, and the service is provided with the same unfriendly and poor attitude. I was dressed up to this elegant restaurant for the occasion, and sat with people at close by tables in shorts and T-shirts and flip-flops. There was a large group in the restaurant not in a private area that was so loud the entire night screaming and shouting, I felt like I was with a huge crowd of teenagers and a loud sports bar. When we shared the experience with the management and owners, they were equally as rude, offensive and downright appalling and insulting. There are so many fabulous restaurants with great menus, vibe, ambience and staff in this city, I only wish I would’ve gone there instead. We have many favorites, and the Ivy will be a restaurant that I will never ever step foot in again. The ownership and management is just as bad as the service and attitudes and experience there! Give it a miss - many other restaurants to enjoy and take business where it is appreciated. I would never entertain clients here or go for any kind of celebration.

Paparazzi Lunch

High-end digs and bill to match. Very good service. Start off with a very nice complementary glass of Champagne . Had the pizza for starters. Then delicious main courses. All 3 were outstanding. Iconic place. 20 dllrs. Valet parking.

Lunch at The Ivy

By shana |

Three of us went to The Ivy for lunch on a sunny Sunday, so we chose to be seated outside. We were first welcomed with complimentary champagne (great!) and were able to spend a few minutes inside and enjoy the beautiful room. Our outdoor table was right at the white picket fence which was awesome as we had views of the street and the whole outdoor seating area. Our lunch entrees were fantastic and the portions were surprisingly on the larger side. Our server was excellent. The only negative I have is that the seating area is extremely tight, the tables are really crammed together. Otherwise it was a perfect Sunday lunch.

Extremely overrated with very poor service

By Nizar E |

We were a party of seven waiting to be seated for quite sometime. Not only did we have to deal with Thomas’s snooty attitude but when we requested the table that we had asked for we were told that the owners friend is coming to take that table. Seriously guys this is not the 80’s ...wake up and smell the coffee. This attitude doesn’t get you far in this digital age where uncalled for pompousness costs you your brand

Bit of old style Hollywood

By Gibbo1969 |

Lunch with daughter who lives nearby. Food was very good however I did require a second mortgage for the bill. I guess someone had to pay for all the white waiters uniforms and the fresh flowers. It was lovely in a slightly outdated way.

Great food, lovely vibe

By Polly B |

Great outdoor area for people watching but also a great indoors restaurant, loved the colours and vibe and the food matched perfectly, normally you are paying for location rather than quality but not in this case, food was beautifully cooked, very tasty

Cute atmosphere!

By Joey M |

Food was great. I had the ivy chopped salad, and it was very filling and appetizing. My son had the seafood pasta and refused to share. If you want to star search while you are visiting LA, this is the place to go. It just feels like someone famous could walk in at any time.

Fabulous and Quaint Restaurant

By Catherinevbf |

Super friendly. Amazing food. Lovely atmosphere. We arrived without a reservation, were greeted by a friendly waiter who directed us inside and we offered a complementary glass of sparkling wine. We were seated at a cozy table by a fireplace. The rooms are filled with beautiful colourful roses, bowls at fresh oranges, stemmed Clementines and apples. The decor is colourful and eclectic. We ordered 3 dishes to share ( they do charge a $5 “sharing” fee). The corn chowder was outstanding. The crab cakes were fresh and delicious. The Icelandic salmon served with a grilled vegetable salad was a very generous portion and so amazing. I would go back there in a heartbeat.

I have never been so humiliated by a waiter

By Patricia S |

Extremely rude waiters. I went at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 29th, the restaurant was empty, I ordered a water and a cappuccino and the waitress said that I had to lose more things to stay in the place. I had already gone there a few times for lunch and dinner and the first time I went for a coffee, as it was close, I went through this situation. I asked the waiter to call the manager and he refused. I no longer recommend this place.

Good Food, Awesome atmosphere!

By JB Stevens |

In town for a conference and we scored a lunch reservation at this iconic eatery. We had pasta and it was awesome. The banana creme pie was amazing! Tips: - Valet park, its a no-brainer. - Get Dessert, they’re all good! - Keep your head on a swivel, you never know who you might see there!

Exceptional evening

By Along came Polly |

1st of all, I will say we visit the Ivy everytime we come to Los Angeles, it never faulters, the food is amazing , the ambiance is beautiful and the service is fantastic! As always our meal was perfect and over all had a beautiful night, I HAD to review especially this visit as I have never felt more looked after when dining out as I did this time. Not only did our waitress Antoinette (hope I spelt correctly) help us with the menu, she chatted with us, asked us how our visit was going, was so smiley and outgoing, helped with wine choice, she also helped us with some travel advice and wrote some places down, which was so kind and thoughtful, we couldn't beleive how lovely she was! And she was just as thoughtful and helpful to the tables next to us. She is Truly a gem and a great attribute to the restaurant! We had an amazing night, so thanks again to all the team at The Ivy. Keep it all up, no wonder your always busy! Amazing place, 5Stars everytime!

It’s a Scene, Good Food Too!

By CAgirlqt |

It’s a scene, but the food and service are very good. There are indoor and outdoor dining options. The noise level is high but you can still have a conversation. Although they have valet parking there is a parking garage across the street. I ordered the softshell crab which were delicious and my guest had the fish and chips which looked fantastic, lots of fried food on that plate. I would go pack and perhaps next time to have one of their desserts.

Always Great

By unc0206 |

The service, the food and location like no other, the flowers are beautiful and the Lobster pasta a must! A must in LA

Terrible Attitude

By Regan R |

The manager and staff were so rude when I had to send food back, the manager made us feel like we had committed a crime. Will never be going back to the Ivy.

A happy surprise!

By norling66 |

Great food and fun ambience right at the intersection in Santa Monica. Perfect service. I would go again if in the area. Thumbs up!

A great family breakfast!!!

By Efrain H |

It is a very nice place, it transports you to a vintage atmosphere, spectacular breakfasts and unique attention. I would definitely return!!!

Great, except for service

By MWashatkaphotography |

My friend and I were excited to check out the Ivy as it was recommended to us. The food was pretty delicious and the atmosphere was very charming. We really liked the decor. However, the service was definitely not what I expected from such a restaurant. The food prices were quite high and I definitely don’t mind paying higher food prices for an experience and great food, as long as the location has all the boxes checked. All the servers looked pretty subdued, no personality, no smiles. Our server in particular was literally hardly around at all. At one point, I kid you not, he said “is there anything you desperately need?” Needless to say we were shocked. There were a few times different food runners tried to bring us something that wasn’t ours as well.

First Time Scoring a Reservation

By Hardrocker8888 |

I’ve always wanted to eat here. And after finally getting a reservation, my cousins and I had dinner here. I don’t know if I felt awkward or if I didn’t feel welcomed. But out of all the open tables we were seated, we were sat by the wheelchair ramp. It didn’t bother me at first, but then the other tables remained available during our whole dinner. Anyways, I had the crab cakes to start. Then I had the lobster ravioli. I was never offered another Coke. The food was delicious. Service felt like we were an after thought. I noticed the other tables getting more attention. And I don’t think they were even famous—I didn’t know who there were. The valet didn’t offer any assurance when we got our ride. I’m unsure if I would come back here again. My friends all recommended this place when I would be in the area.

Made to feel special

By Stacey M |

I always worry about eating on my own, but I knew I wanted to visit the ivy in Hollywood, so I just did it! I pulled up to the valet parking after driving about for a bit trying to find somewhere... it was worth the $12 for less hassle. I arrived early and they were able to take me right away. Friendly staff who were happy to accommodate. A lovely glass of champagne on arrival and a choice of in or outside, i chose outside, it was a lovely sunny day, but that meant contending with the heat and the flies, water was supplied quickly and I asked for “something” to get rid of the flies and promptly a candle turned up and seemed to work! I ordered the branzino (seabass) and it was delicious! The atmosphere was bubbly with lots going on but it never felt too much, and I didn’t feel rushed at all. I decided to have a dessert, I had mentioned it was my birthday and when my red velvet cake arrived, well, I felt special! Big sparkler and it felt like a huge slice of cake (though I suspect this is the usual size) it’s made on site and was fluffy and delicious, though with the hot day the icing started melting cause I wasn’t eating it quickly enough! The bill came and it was as expected for a restaurant with such a reputation, but with no service charge automatically added, so do remember and leave a tip. Toilets were clean and well stocked. (Always a bug bear of mine when they don’t have a high standard there too) The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and I didn’t feel out of place on my own. Would recommend for the experience...

Birthday dinner

By worldwonder805 |

We celebrated my sister’s bDay at The Ivy🎂 Nice ambiance and very good food. Started with calamari and crab cakes and a beets salad. Lobster pasta and surf and turf fir enters. Of course., their famous Sangria !!! A nice dinner and pretty good service.

This place is for you .. if you like slop

By Tony Nic |

Big mistake. We thought this was going to be like the Ivy in London. In a nutshell, it was a pile of greasy slop. The house salad is lettuce leaves with half dozen sliced baby tomatoes and a greasy dressing. Main course Fish and Chips and Burger was just grease slop, with a couple of drinks £220+ .. they just want your money and a tippy tip tip.

Lovely vibe, kind staff, average food

By lorenzatraveling |

Staff was really nice and helpful and the place has a nice vibe but the food wasn’t very good :-( too heavy, and didn’t seem top quality ingredients. Overall it was fine and staff very kind but a disappointment overall

Good food with a side of attitude

By Vic S |

Made res thru open table for our daughter's (at USC), bday dinner...res for 5 @ 8 pm...confirmed res both thru open table and the Ivy day of res, arrived 15 early, and was promptly asked if we wanted to be inside/out. Since it was lovely evening we said out (at no point had open table or contact from rest asked us about), well, when we said out it was like we had requested for the chef to be shot. Told that since we NOW requested out we would have to wait for an outside table to open up which could take HOURS. So, we waved the white flag, took a table inside and started with some pretty average service at best. We placed order..choose wisely as some food orders have enough food to share by 2 folks, literally enough food for small base camp like the fried chicken or steak with bake, but the pasta portions are barely appt size...have dined out in nicer rest for 50 plus years have never seen such variance in portions..The meal was paced fairly well but be very wary of where you sit as space is at a premium, and you will have waiters, servers, and other patrons sharing the evening with you. Had bday treat at end of evening with nice fireworks in it, and out the door for 350 with drinks. We are huge fans of the IVY's sister property in San Deigo the Cottage and was expecting the same service, quality, and memorable experience. This was memorable, but for the wrong reasons, maybe its a LA thing and its become just a hip place to hang out. Move along, nothing to see here and take your palate for a drive to San Deigo, you can thank me later.

Absolutely Fabulous

By Ilyce B |

This is one of the most iconic restaurants in LA and it definitely stands up to it’s reputation. The food is beyond all expectations and we can’t wait to go back! The staff is outstanding as is the ambiance, especially the fresh flowers. The menu is diverse so there is something for everyone!

Squeezed into a corner table

By PatyAgui |

Food was good but because it is a place many want to visit they truly do cram as many people as they can. Our table was in like a corner where I felt like I was sitting right next to the people at the table next to us. Then they added another party across from us and I felt so bad for our waiter that had to hop around a heat post to reach us. Staff/service is good.

Excellent in every way!

By Aureliano M |

Excellent lunch, I had a wonderful time in a lovely setting. The meal was delicious and very generous, I had the superb Fish & Chips followed by the Sundae (I really appreciated the different ingredients of the dessert on the side, so you can compose it as you wish). The ice cream was good and the hot chocolate was very bitter, without sugar, like whipped cream without a single gram of sugar, unheard of! I loved! The service is top notch and very professional, even if slightly sluggish at first to offer a cocktail.

Perfect Romantic Breakfast

By pedromoav |

Located right on Beverly Hills this upscale breakfast spot is great! We were welcomed by a free glass of champagne and were prompted to choose any table we liked. We sat outside and during October the weather is very nice for this. Beware this is a VERY EXPENSIVE restaurant, fried eggs were $35 dollars. it is a place to see and be seen, but where the food is prepared very well. Service is very attentive and overall our experience was great!

Welcoming and unique

By Thomas M |

This place has a delightful atmosphere eclectic and welcoming. The historic home/dining ambiance is warm and whimsical. An oasis amidst the slick and contemporary establishments nearby. A short walk from the nearby Four Seasons, Beverly Hills. Food was delicious and service timely and courteous.

Poor treatment of women clients

By Hgg |

I live in Orange County and enjoy coming to IVY every time I come to LA. I always thought highly of them but today I was really disappointed in the poor service and treatment. After my girlfriend and I spent over $120 for two salads, the waiter approached us and asked us to leave as we were finishing our coffee “because someone is waiting for our table”. We were there a little over 70 minutes - This, on top of them charging $15 for the parking and refusing to give us a table in a less crowded area of the restaurants. The staff - all male - has a chip on their shoulders and look down on their clients - especially women. The food was adequate but not good enough to justify rude treatment of the staff.

Loved it!

By Terry V |

This place is beautiful! The decor and service and the food was all superb. We had a great time here. Upon arrival, we were offered champagne and quickly seated. We had one of our best meals here while in L.A..

Not worth it!

By 524stephaniew |

My family recently had dinner at the Ivy. The food is subpar for the price and the service wasn’t very good. We felt rushed. It wasn’t the experience that my teenagers thought they were going to have...

Great food, service, atmosphere

A very nice venue with great food, service and atmosphere. We ate brunch there on a Sunday. We all enjoyed our food and the experience. I recommend and would definitely eat there again. We found street parking around the corner.

Must do

By Dipikaagarwal |

We had our first meal in la in this amazing restaurant. The food , ambience and staff ( specially Antoinette ) was just perfect . The decor makes u feel like you’re in a cosy Italian town and eating authentic food . We had a spectacular start to our la trip with dinner here

It is one of the best and most diverse restaurants in all of Los Angeles.

By StevenBerlin |

We love this restaurant. They actually have reasonable prices compared to other fine dining establishments. I've been there twice, and both times, the food was great. They have amazing fish and chips plate, and seafood spaghetti. My friend got the grilled vegetables salad. All things were good and the service was very friendly.

Enjoyable evening meal

By RobDavis12 |

We had a patio table, seated under multicoloured lights. Service was excellent and we were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne, always a nice touch. Good gluten free knowledge with a separate menu, but sadly unable to provide gluten free bread, which is a surprise nowadays. Great choices with seafood and a nod toward Mexican cuisine. We opted for Spicy Corn Chowder and Guacamole with homemade tortilla chips to start. We both chose the Seafood for mains (one spaghetti one gluten free risotto), which were lovely with clams, mussels, crab, scallops, shrimp and calamari. We nearly skipped dessert but I’m very glad I didn’t as I had the most amazing homemade Key Lime Pie. The gluten free options were limited but with really good Chocolate and Pistachio gelato. All in all a really pleasant, enjoyable meal.

Terrible

By Caterina Ugolini |

Terrible! The lobster club sandwich with cold lobster from the fridge and cold, burnt bacon. the unprofessional waiters laugh at the customers aside and observe the beautiful girls and comment! A place to absolutely avoid

Family Memories

A+++++ We had the most thoughtful waitress who took the time to take the most memorable photos. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was superb. It was ideal.

RIP off !!

By rajadhody (Gurmeet) |

Went for lunch with some friends I was not very hungry so me and a friend decided to share a dish so ordered the risotto with lobster to share which was for 49$ on the menu. When the bill finally came the risotto billed was 260$ !!!!!! The waiter on his own as his tip gets fatter !! decided to serve some special lobster. Absurdity to another level. And to top it off the dish was substandard at best. A total complete rip off this is what happens when the waiter is going to get min20% tip. Never again

Wonderful Dinner At The Beautiful Garden

By TravelerGuideStan |

My family and I decided to eat at the Ivy during dinner because of the scenic garden and the restaurant's resume. When we came to the Ivy, our first impressions were ecstatic due to the outside decor of the garden and the inside decor of an exquisite villa in Venice, Italy. In addition, the toilets in the Ivy were clean and somewhat huge (A*). At the restaurant, we ordered burrata, crab cakes, Icelandic salmon with mashed potatoes, filet mignon with mashed potatoes, chocolate brownie with ice cream, and a hot latte. Before the appetizers came out, I had to try the complementary bread, and I loved the taste. The bread was sesame-driven and sweet enough; the salty butter extends the flavor of the already-delicious bread. Despite burrata being one of my favorite appetizers of all time, the burrata at the Ivy was definitely below my expectations. I thought the portion of the burrata was small, and the salad covered most of the plate. At least 60% of the dish should contain burrata since the cheese is the star of the meal. In addition, I did not enjoy the presence of carrots in the burrata dish because carrots and cheese are like pineapples and pizza; the ingredients do not mesh well together. Despite the flaws, the burrata and most of the components in the salad (the greens and the nuts) tasted nice. The crab cakes tasted savory and had a melt-in-your-mouth filling, with the Dijon Mustard sauce (I think) enhancing the flavor of the crab cakes. However, I think the presentation of a bowl of Dijon Mustard in the purple cabbage seems outdated and random. I recommend saucing the crab cakes instead of putting a bowl of Dijon Mustard sauce inside a purple cabbage. The Icelandic salmon was cooked decently and tasted like homemade grilled salmon from Alaska. The medium-cooked filet mignon tasted good, but maybe the steak could use a pinch of salt. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious, so I have no complaints regarding the side dish. The cup of the hot latte looked more like the size of a soup rather than a typical coffee cup. As a result, I could not finish the hot latte due to the humongous size of the cup. I would have given The Ivy a 3-star review...if not for the dessert. The chocolate brownie, without a doubt, was the star of this dinner experience. Chocolate brownie, ice cream, and hot fudge sauce--these components make a memorable and yummy dessert. Additionally, I am convinced this brownie dessert was the best brownie I have ever tasted! Whoever made the brownie needs to attain a raise as quickly as possible. The Ivy has a couple of bright spots, but a couple they can improve to enhance a better dining experience. I recommend high-income tourists to order food at this restaurant because of its decor, cleanliness, and most of the delicious meals.

Welcome to Beverly Hills!

By Super D |

Had a great lunch seated outside by the famous white fence. Waited a bit for our table but enjoyed the complimentary champagne offered. Food was very good. Friendly atmosphere. I have to admit I chose this place for its Hollywood history and it didn’t disappoint. It was a great way to kick off our LA vacation.

Lovely Lunch at The Ivy

By kimwV7714KS |

We went to experience the Los Angeles vibe and it was very good. Good service, a lovely patio to sit on, and fun people watching (there were older teens/early twenties that were sort of awful to the waiter in a way that made it seem like they were auditioning for a Jersey Shore spinoff). It is a bit expensive for cocktails but a nice place to sit outside and the food was better than I expected. Loved their hallmark arrangments of gorgeous cottage roses on all the tables too. The Chanel store is vacant next to them and we parked on the street as this area seems to have been hit hard by Covid/economy and lots of vacant storefronts vs luxury stores which was a bit disconcerting and so the street lacked the fun vibe of other parts of the Melrose area. (Four starts vs five as very good but not exceptional.)

Will never go back at dinner time

By SarahTravels86 |

This restaurant has been a favorite of ours for years - everytime we were in LA we would make a point of going here for a long, beautiful lunch and then shopping on Robertson. My husband and I recently visited LA for our anniversary, and decided to go to The Ivy for dinner as we have always had incredible experiences at lunch. From start to finish it was disappointing. For starters, they rushed us the entire tire (and the restaurant wasn't even that busy, it seemed as though the servers just couldn't wait to close up). We each ordered a cocktail and then we were never even offered a wine list - the server came back 3 times in 10 minutes to see if we were ready to order. My husband specifically asked once we did allow him to take our order that we have a nice break between appetizers and main course - the waiter said that would be no problem. We finish our appetizers and when they came to clear the dishes my husband reminded our waiter that we wanted a break before they bring out the second course. He said yes of course. Literally as soon as the one man left another came and dropped off our entrees - we didn't even have 30 seconds between the courses. When our original waiter came over and we asked what happened all he said was that the kitchen messed up and help another table's courses instead of ours. No apology - no nothing. I should also mention that we LOVE wine, and we were never even offered a wine list. I've never ever gone there without having at least two of their amazing cocktails and some wine - these waiters apparently assumed one drink would be sufficient for the entire dinner. Yes we could have asked for a wine list but the service was so bad we just wanted to get out of there at that point. When we asked for our bill they gave us the wrong one, and when we told them yet again there was no apology - he looked as if we were lying and then checked it, went away and returned with our bill. I don't know what to say, other than this is NOT at all the experience we've had on numerous other occasions. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch, but I'm not sure if this was just a bad night for staff or if they have a different staff for evenings - either way will never go back for dinner again - and if I see our main waiter at lunchtime I will request a different one.

The LA Experience must include a trip to the Ivy

By Carly M |

In a recent trip to LA we decided to go on the TMZ bus tour to see the best celeb hot spots. One of those- The Ivy! Celebs love the patio, the complimentary champagne and great seafood. Be prepared prices are high. $30-50 a plate for lunch entrees. A cup of soup was $18 but for The Who’s who crowd that frequent this local favorite no sweat. The decor is darling and the tables are covered in colorful bouquets of roses. Actually they are everywhere you Look. We started with a guacamole appetizer which was good but not anything out of the norm. We split the fried seafood platter with shrimp, calamari, fish and fries and also the lobster ravioli. Both were top notch. I could go back for the ravioli. When we left we each got a chocolate chip cookie in a cute little bag. Fun place that felt special.

By oztravelz |

Used to be so wonderful. They played beautiful jazz music from renowned artists .... lately they play very loud music that sounds like karaoke 😳, it absolutely ruins the atmosphere. Makes me so sad, I have gone so many times hopeful that I would catch an evening of the old charm , but more and more they play this obnoxious music, same sound track over and over every night. It has ruined the experience. 🥺

Fun Atmosphere!

By Brute |

I'm from Texas. My husband had a meeting in Beverly Hills so I invited my elderly parents, my brother and his wife for a trip to California, which they happily accepted. The wonderful security company that was helping us get around suggested The Ivy. We were there for lunch, it was very crowded and the seating was tight in the outdoor area. Service was a bit slow at first but turned out to be very attentive. We all had something different: I had swordfish tacos (spicy and delicious), my companions had a caprese salad, cheese enchiladas, chicken enchiladas, shrimp tacos and I don't remember the last one. We also enjoyed the dessert sampler with red velvet cake, key lime pie, apple tart, coconut cake and several delectable choices. The food was all very good and filling. One interesting tidbit, there must have been a celebrity sitting nearby because the ridiculous TMZ bus came by, stopped in front of the restaurant and the riders were hooting and hollaring at someone. I looked around at all the beautiful people but didn't recognize anyone. All in all, it was a very fun visit and I would go back. Be sure and sit outside, the inside isn't nearly as interesting.

Just OK

Went here for our anniversary dinner while we were in LA visiting. My food was pretty good, my boyfriend didn't care for his. We did let them know ahead of time that it was our anniversary, but they didn't mention anything, and usually a nice expensive restaurant like this, you would think they would offer a free dessert for choosing their resultant to celebrate at, but that didn't happen. In fact, our waiter wasn't very friendly. Then as we paid the tab, our waiter took our card. He then charged my boyfriend for the tab of the table next to ours (about $350) and ours (another $150). He didn't even really apologize, just told us what happened. However, we had to wait a couple days for that charge to come off of his card, and that's a big chunk of money to just be out while we were on vacation. I don't know that we will be back.

Lovely food, cramped seating outside

By Rosie Chisnall |

Overall, we had an amazing time at the Ivy and the waiters were all super helpful and attentive. The glass of fizz on arrival is a lovely touch, makes your evening feel special. The venue itself is beautiful, I would definitely recommend going in the evening as to enjoy all of the cute lights. The food was lovely and huge portion sizes, no room for dessert. We enjoyed some cocktails post meal and had a fab time. All I would say is the seating outside is perhaps a little cramped, I felt very clumsy trying to get past other diners when using the bathroom/leaving the venue.

Met our high expectations

By SGIROX |

We had a fantastic evening at the Ivy. The food was outstanding, our outdoor table was ideal, and the service was top-notch. The server seemed to want to rush us, but once we told him we wanted to take our time the pace of our meal was perfect. I had read outstanding reviews, so my expectations were high. I am happy to report that The Ivy met all of them and we will definitely pay them a visit on our next trip to LA.

Cosy Little Breakfast Place

By Nona Nureen |

I Heard So Much About The Ivy and had high expectations. We rocked up without reservations for breakfast at 11am. It is situated in between buildings so it is a cosy little outdoor area. The waiters asked if we would like some champagne which is complimentary so we were happy about that. The interior and exterior reminds me of ‘Shakespeare and Co’ in Dubai like medieval times and European settings. Waiters were well knowledge about the menu and sometimes he lost me in his long explanation. The food was average 35 usd and above for main course regardless breakfast or lunch so we opted to have lunch. Portions were really massive so we did not finish our food. The place got really busy and I can imagine you can get turned away. Valet parking was 12usd so we just parked across the street. We do get complimentary cookies after so that was a nice farewell. You can tell the crowd that goes there are the high end lot. I reckon going once is enough for me.

Still cool spot for sure!

By 'DTK'UItraveler |

We go to the 'Ivy' often when we are in LA. We were there at 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon and as always the guys in the white were hustling! The place is busy, it' s a great spot always. We had prob only female waitress and she was fair at best, she was not real friendly and service is normally spot on at this place. She didn't really phase us though, food was as usual - way good. Hostess and everyone else were good and top notch as always.

Charm meets Chic at the Ivy!

By Maria |

Love the Ivy for business lunches and brunch! Sitting outside to people watch is always fun and the healthy food options are both delicious and beautifully presented. It’s no wonder why this charming place has long been an LA institution!

Expected More Because of it's Reputation - Nice Evening - Cool Vibe!

By TRAVELINGCWS |

I was expecting something a little more sophisticated, yet it was still a fun evening. It was my first visit and I have heard so many positive comments about the restaurant, I was expecting a more sophisticated menu. We were able to find a couple of nice bottles of wine and the group of six ordered an assortment of different entrees. Spicy fresh corn chowder, Ivy Ceasar Salad, Guacamole & chips to start. Entrees included the fresh Icelandic Salmon, Classic Hamburgers, Shrimp Tacos and Spaghetti, and Meatballs. We celebrated with a little red velvet cake and ice cream, celebrating a birthday for the third time this week. It's a cool place,e the wait staff seems to really hustle, it's busy, the food good.

How rude

By BenE |

The worse place I have ever had the miss fortune to eat in with the family. The food was expensive and very overrated the blond haired manger or waiter came over told us to keep our 2 year old quiet or take him outside he was laughing and happy because of complaints { HOW RUDE} I cancelled the rest of the meal paid the bill and we all left disgraceful

Good Food, Good Ambiance, Expensive!

By Massi |

The food Selection and Ambience is Fantastic but you better be ready to pay up. Never saw a celebrity there however.

Amazing place

By Ian johnson |

What a nice afternoon out with friends. I’ve been many times before and always go back when I’m in Los Angels. I highly recommend this establishment.

Great food...terrible manager!

By A Anderson |

I accidentally ordered the wrong dish lobster linguine instead of lobster ravioli so they took it away only to have the manger bring it back and place it aggressively in-front of me and rudely explained that this is what I ordered and this is what I will have. I felt like a little child being told off 😂. I asked him to pack it up and that I would take it with me after I had the meal I wanted in the first place. After all the only reason I went back here is because of the lobster ravioli not the linguini which I accidentally ordered. I was also happy to pay for both dishes...which I did! But was it really necessary for the manager to behave like this? Put a downer on our romantic night with my wife. Don’t think we will be returning. Shame I really love that lobster ravioli, well done chefs. Better front of house staff are desperately needed though. In Switzerland this restaurant would shut down in a week!

Worth every penny

By Cdn927 |

My wife and I attended the Ivy for Sunday breakfast to celebrate her birthday. What an amazing place. We looked at menus online before we went and were aware it would be expensive. I suppose value is subjective, but I feel strongly that when you are attending a restaurant a big portion of its value comes with reputation and history. Maybe I'm paying a premium, but I knew it going in. We wanted to feel special, that we were leaving our usual lives to have a special experience. We aren't wealthy and $155.00 with tip is alot for breakfast, but the experience was worth every penny. I felt as though we were paying for more than just a meal, it was a really cool experience. We were in full fledged tourist mode, had hopes and dreams of sharing laughs with Beyonce and Jay-Z, Tom Hanks joining the convo... unfortunately wasn't to be had. I booked the reservation at 9am, we were the first people. Greeted with champagne, a "Happy Birthday". Our table was on the patio right at the road. Comfortable, and a heater was provided to ensure we were warm. I ordered the eggs benedict and my wife the crab benedict. The food was excellent. The coffee first rate. My wife's $25.00 bellini worth every cent. The service was first rate. From the host that greeted us, to the servers and the busboy. Everyone was friendly and not overbearing at all. To top it off they surprised my wife with a birthday cake (delicious) with sparkling torchy candle. In the end, I can't recommend this experience enough. I'd have loved to have the celebrity sightings and it would have been a cherry on top of what was just a great experience overall. Thanks!!

Nice courtyard, delicious breakfast

By Ольга Ч |

I was here for breakfast, very nice courtyard Beautifully decorated, with fresh flowers, beautiful bright dishes Delicious breakfast - ordered Benedict with shrimps Good service

Wonderful! Go!

By Hcutt2 |

Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere. Brunch here was a highlight to our day. The service was impeccable. Water glasses were never empty, constantly checked on but not in an intrusive way. Would highly recommend!!

So overpriced, it’s ridiculous.

By 3Guapastravel |

So overpriced, it’s ridiculous. A salad with protein will cost you $35. It’s an adorable restaurant inside, but not worth the price. Food is just average. If you want to see a celebrity go during the week.

Over rated

By louis b |

If food taste is reason for choosing a restaurent, the IVY was disappointing. Lobster ravioli did not taste like lobster. BLACK TRUFFLE pasta was bland..soaked in butter, sea bass was dry and mashed potatoes soggy. Food delivery can challenge Macdonalds. We had a three course meal all served with 20 minutes of order. Overall.. a big disappointment. Almost 400 dollars for two..I expected more.

Fun place for a little Hollywood Glamour

By Travel Truths |

Went for lunch at the Ivy, it was packed with botox and brawn. So if you like that sort of thing, you will love it here. We are non-celebs, with no possy or paparazzi chasing us down, and subsequently we were seated at the curbside tables. Gaw! Can you imagine?! I actually heard a couple say that they would rather wait for 40 minutes to be seated on the upper-level patio than sit where we were, at the lower curbside table. Whatever! I ordered a salad, my companion had the crab cakes. They were good. No complaints. As we were digging in, we quickly realized that our "lower class" table was actually perfectly situated to watch the frenetic coming and goings of the patrons. Bentley after Bentley, Porche after Porche, the stream of A-listers and wannabees seemed never-ending. I even spotted an actual Kardashian, an arms length way from me, in full glam ushering her equally sophisticated toddler into the restaurant. Ahhh, my kids were so impressed at this news! As we paid the expensive bill and made our way towards our mid-range rental, we passed by the couple that refused to sit where we were. The wife seemed uncomfortable...after all, she had been standing on the sidewalk, Presseco in hand, in those 4 inch heels for almost an hour.

One of our Favs in LA

Breadfast-NO

By Donald S |

We experiment with good restaurants for breakfast. The Ivy is open at 8 but we were the only customers until we left at 9:45. They are not really set up for breakfast. It took us 15 minutes arriving at 8:15 to get a waiter. Music was intolerable and we were told that they could do nothing because the owner controlled it from home! Food was OK not great. Just not for breakfast though listed as such. The flowers were beautiful.

Long Time Devotee Deeply Disappointed

By LadyGoodman615 |

Long before it was "go to" destination for celebs, the Ivy was an English cottage respite on a quiet shopping street in West Hollywood. The food was delicious, if pricey, basic, but comforting and luxurious. Those days are over. Diners are treated like cattle, handed "free" champagne for the illusion of an elevated experience, then either rushed through -- or ignored while dining. The menu has shrunk as prices have expanded. But what's so awful is the food itself. A recent visit -- for a late lunch/early dinner -- saw thin, watery corn chowder, a much smaller, dry, dusty crusted pizza with rubbery cheese (which we opted to leave) and a much smaller chopped salad. The iced tea still had the sugar cane stirrer, but no one ever bothered to refill the glasses. BRAVO! Another wonderful tradition wilting under its success and a lack of accountability or overchurning to accommodate as many tourists who don't know better as possible.

Still Great!

By jeff M |

It still is great and plenty of outdoor seating. Had lunch and got the fish tacos...they are a must. Muscles were amazing. Drinks good. Place not cheap but such a great spot to have a long lunch.

This place is so nice

By Stephen K |

We went there for brunch and sat outside in the sunshine. Really nice vibe. Food is really good and the service friendly but also correct. The whole experience was just really good - the best we had in LA.

Perfect

Wonderful, pleasant atmosphere, attentive waiters, delicious food, well served, fair price if we take into account that we are in LA.

Gorgeous flower filled restaurant

By 310Andy018 |

This restaurant is simply gorgeous! Huge bouquets of roses everywhere, beautiful table settings, shelves filled with interesting pottery & an intimate patio for outdoor eating. We were dazzled! And, the food, fresh ingredients & consistently tasty. Service was attentive & pleasant. The only small negative was the price, quite expensive. But no matter, we will return, if only for the lush bouquets of all colors of roses!

Still going strong!

By Pinot1000 |

Still going strong! In a city where everything seems to change all the time , often for the worse, it’s a relief hat this place is still so great. Food, vibe, service all great

See and Be Seen, but don't expect much more

By Peter B |

This is one of those 'special people' places that is ideally located for inside or outdoor dining. The clientele are 'to the nines' and occasionally a celebrity or wanna be are there to be seen. The food is fair to good and the service matches. Go for the experience and enjoy the cocktails.

Loved it!

By MelanieMcH |

Beautiful and quaint little place. Exquisite place settings and beautifully decorated. Food was pricey but lived up to the hype and expectation. Highly recommend.

Overpriced and Underwhelming

By k e riley |

We revisited to celebrate our anniversary. I had no recollection of a prior visit about a year ago. That should have been a warning! The decor is pretty with lots of fresh roses, flag plaques, and vases. Much is made of the "free" glass of champagne upon arrival. The special, sea bass, had run out by 7.30. We had structured our meal around this and had to start over. The rest of the menu was uninspiring for the price. The wine list was overpriced. It was our anniversary so we made the best of it. Not really the way we expected to celebrate.

The Best!

By Christopher T. |

The Ivy is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. The atmosphere is a unique combination of country charm and movie biz chic. All the departments work together like a five star team, but the vibe is informal and unpretentious. Needless to say, the food is consistently excellent... definitely world class cuisine and fantastic service every time.

They charged the tip in my credit card without notification
