A lovely outdoor spot for grub and drinks

By littlelena |

It was by a happy accident that we found this Irish pub near Chicago's Magnificent Mile. You'll enjoy drinks and food in their sidewalk terrace on a fair afternoon, while you watch some of Chicago's gentry hurry by. We loved the steak and frites, and the seafood salad was also great. Very relaxed atmosphere, nice service, and no rush for your table when you're done... Try it!

Nice bar

By IAN D |

I stumbled upon the Kerryman and what attracted me initially was all the flowers outside. Visually attractive bar. I had a millet light for 3 dollars which made the bar even more attractive.

It was ok

By mbriggs1970 |

Kind of disappointed in the fish and chips, as the fish had a soft wet breading not any crunch at all. Grilled cheese had an over thick marmelade on it, a little less would have been better. Beer and atmosphere was good.

nice restaurant

By kirt v |

we went here for lunch while in Chicago , had appetizers , the pretzel and the sausage pastry both were very good ,, would go back

Walk into another world

By Elizabeth S |

So it’s a quaint Irish pub. It’s as if you’re somewhere in Ireland. The staff were very friendly. Food was brought quickly - service was attentive. Good portion sizes. Expensive for wine - everything else was reasonable. Tuesday is 1/2 price wine

Stopped in for some food and a drink. I asked for a Caesar and fish and chips and got a small salad. The fish and chips was poor. The fish wasn't cooked and the batter had some orange colouring? The sweet peas (mushy peas in the UK) were strange and just that...sweet. The waitress explained that they weren't guacamole! The cidre (Stella) was warm and flat. A lovely outside setting though with beautiful planting which in the sunshine made up for the average quality. It looks the sort of place that will be packed with atmosphere on an evening.

Great irish bar, stunning burgers.

By Jonathan F |

Visited this pub on 2 of our 3 night stay in Chicago, the bar staff were friendly. Tried a burger on the second visit and it was absolutely superb and fairly inexpensive. Also managed to catch the Rugby world cup final here so they show all types of sports. Would happily return for food and beers

Decent Pub Stop

By JeanV22 |

Stopped in for happy hour and had a good time. Nice pub, good service, and we loved the meat/cheese board available - great snack!

Great food, GREAT service

By Erin G |

We went to The Kerryman on a whim, and boy were we glad we did. The food was great, especially the Mac and cheese, but most of all we enjoyed the atmosphere. It was a very chill environment and our waiter was awesome. He had great recommendations, and everything was truly delicious. Apparently a bunch of Irishmen visit every night and start singing when they get drunk so they can be pretty loud, but we didn't mind. It was all part of the experience. I would definitely go back.

Excellent

By P Ryan |

This is a very nice bar for food and drinks. We had lovely burgers watching rugby game last weekend. Pub is very classy and nice clientele. Service was excellent.

Irish fare and fun

By Bob |

Happened upon Kerryman's during their 10th anniversary week. Fantastic rueben, right amount and bread not soggy as some do. Sides included a mac and gouda cheese, and triple Gelato was absolutely divine. Service impeccable by Cole, quiet enough to enjoy table conversation and overall tops of Irish pubs in Chicago. Tell them General Bob sent you.

Great food & service

By Carol B |

We stopped in on a Friday night & were prepared for a long wait. But we were seated right away & our food came sooner than we expected. And it was all delicious - burgers, shepard's pie & awesome Mac & cheese! Just wish we lived near Chicago so we could come more often!

Beautiful summer dinner on the patio!

By Jewels |

Excellent food and prices and lovely outdoor patio on a not busy street. I had the quesadillas with bacon and gouda cheese on the appetizer menus that was delicious as a meal!

Nice stop

By Heather D |

It was a great place to stop early in the evening for drinks. Many Irish Whiskeys as you can imagine.

Beautiful flowers in the summer

By boltsnnuts |

Good Irish pub with an authentic feel. Pub food is hearty and service is friendly. The outside patio is great in warm weather. Reasonably priced and worth the visit when in the area.

Pleasant little bar

By JeannieSc |

We enjoyed our Sunday breakfast. We had fast service. Nice price for drink specials. Attentive waiter.

Irish tavern to come back to

By CountryVet |

Great service, good selection of local brews, and good food. The bar staff is friendly without being overbearing, Monday night specials make this place a “want to come again” kinda tavern

Charcuterie anyone?

By M.C. R |

Had a meeting with coworkers there and was very please with the service and the food. It started with the Charcuterie and culminated with a steak that melted in my mouth. They way the place is laid out is very cool in that it is intimate yet spacious. There are tv's everywhere so come game day you are set but that is not to say that it is a sports bar. Stop in and I think you will find something that will make you return.

Best Service in Chicago

By Renzan0 |

Fantastic service. I came in yesterday and was waited on by Marissa at the bar. I had such a great experience I made a point of coming back tonight. I brought a guest with, and though we said we were just getting drinks, we were greeted with the same great service I received yesterday. A gentleman greeted us and followed us upstairs to see where we sat to make sure we were greeted once sat; very professional. We're now at the bar upstairs and Allison is very polite and helpful. Whoever runs this place is doing it right; you have all the right people.

Good Service Good Guinness and Fries!

By Pat P |

A late night trip to this bar near our hotel. Friendly engaging door staff - always a plus then an excellent server who was an American Asian woman who did a fantastic job with us. We had pints of Guinness and fries to end a great night out. The pub was lively and raucous on a Friday night as it should be. Great place

Nice patio for some afternoon drinks

By Sarah C |

We stopped here for a few beers when we stayed at a hotel around the corner. The patio was nice for a sunny afternoon. The beer was well-priced and the server was friendly.

Good Irish food, but portions were small

By Woofy H |

I saw this advertised on the local news and thought I would give it a try. The corned beef and cabbage were perfect. The beef was not overly salted as some places are. However, the portion was on the smaller side. I thought about sharing the dish and was glad i didn't. We also had corned beef hash and eggs. That was excellent too. They were restricting the beers being offered since it was right before St Patrick's day. if you are in town and love Irish food, stop by. Just don't plan on having leftovers.

Nice Terrace

By WorldCT |

Allowing us to sit in a closed section of the Terrace to accommodate out special request was very well appreciated and the selection of beers was great. I liked the ambiance and the friendliness of the people, and the clientèle were also nice people as well.

Great place

By Tony |

Great food, great drinks and great service. Visted 3 times on a recent trip to chicago and it was really good each time.

Champions league final

By Hardeep N |

We stumbled upon the Kerryman pub because everywhere else locally seemed to be one-in one-out due to the champions league final. Every cloud has a silver lining, and this was ours. The other bars were packed to the rafters and I can’t imagine how uncomfortable they would have been. Kerrymans was the right side of busy and had a great atmosphere for the game. Great pints and very friendly staff.

Perfect Irish pub

By redhead180 |

Great beer, games on the Telly, terrific food. An unbeatable combination. Which may explain why this place is so popular. If you’re in the neighborhood, don’t miss it.

Great pub

By wanttotravel |

This is a great pub with friendly service. They have a great outdoor patio on Erie street. Good selection of beer and wine!

Great Little Pub - Awesome Shepherd's Pie!

By John |

Stopped in here on a cold Friday night for something causal and comfort food. Ate at the bar - bartender was prompt and helpful with recos. Had the shepherd's pie, which I think was the best I have ever had and I order this a lot!! The other person I was with had the fish and chips, which he also liked. My only issue was the soda bread that came with the shepherd's pie. Am not a fan of soda bread, so would have preferred something else. Otherwise, would highly reco this place!

Excelent food in a very lovely pub

By Soraia_Brazil |

I tried many dishes and loved them all. Apple pie (don't remember the desert name) was just amazing! Everyone was very nice. We felt like home there, not kidding, in 8 nights in Chicago we went there for at least 4 :).

One of Our Favorites

By Raphael L |

For local al fresco dining in the hood with our grand dog, this place is tops. They have always been known for a good pour and a JOHNNY Black for 11:50 is quite a bargain. I had the fish and chips, one of my favorites and one of the best served in the Near North area, while my wife had the southwestern salad without the shrimp and chicken in its place. She said that it was so tasty that it did not need any dressing, that was served on the side. If you are nearby stop in and if you don't know where to go, make this a destination . We also had great service from Kelly C.

Great for beer & food

By Steve L |

Nice little Irish pub, good selection of beers, friendly and attentive team, excellent shepherd’s pie (although technically a cottage pie, as beef rather than lamb, but that seems to be a US thing).

A little bit of Home!

By BerchmansG |

This is a super Irish Bar. The entrance is as you might expect in Ireland, Door on the corner, a crowded and buzzing saloon. The greeting was very personal and generous. With order placed we move past the saloon into an enormous pub; music bar; restaurant. We joined some friends and really enjoyed the few drinks and the atmosphere, a great venue.

Fun stop for dinner or drinks

By Jennifer L |

This place was close to our hotel so we came a few times. Every time we had friendly and attentive service. Food and drinks were good and reasonable pricing. Good place to watch local sports.

Perfect casual spot for dinner/drinks

By Bbarr717 |

Visited with colleagues for drinks and dinner. Nice environment with both inside and outdoor seating. Service was excellent, with multiple people insuring drinks were full and needs met. Nice selection of appetizers and entrees, and all were great (wings and pork tacos were great starters, and entrees all very good too).

Cozy evening at a great Chicago bar

By Stacey M |

We were eating dinner at Portillos, and from my vantage point, I saw The Kerryman across the street. On a whim we decided to round our evening up there. As we walked in, it was incredibly crowded (in all fairness, it was a Friday), but as most Chicagoans are, a very generous and helpful patron let us know they were leaving so we could have their seats at the bar, once end right by the entrance. Best seat in the house! My husband favored Guinness pints- I tried the Dark Side of the Moon cocktail (very good) and finished the rest of the evening with a good old standard Old Fashioned. Great! Excellent, attentive staff and fabulous cocktails. Warm friendly atmosphere, and although we didn’t eat here, other patrons did and it smelled amazing. We will be coming homemade for a Chicago visit again next month and plan on coming here again.

Steer clear of this place.

By Jack C |

Management has no sense of customer service. We went in on St. Pattys Day, arriving early to beat the lunch rush and while the hostess was trying to figure out where they could seat us, we watched her manager seat another group (of similar size) that arrived after we did, with no reservation... since the place was filling up fast and seating was scarce, our party was left with no table. When we confronted the manager, he was rude and belligerent, refusing to offer any explanation for why he sat them before us and made no effort to accommodate our party, essentially telling us we could sit at the bar or leave. We left, and will never go back. There are plenty of pubs in Chicago way better than this one... if you value customer service, avoid Kerryman.

Good to be back

By DavidL120584 |

First time back in the kerryman in about 5 years, since the Celtic Crossing pub had sadly passed. Always a reliable pub, food always great and plenty of seating. Staff are great, cool outdoor area too. Plenty of screens for sports. The best Barman in Chicago does a Sunday night, John P, legend from the Celtic Crossing pub once a few doors up. Chap is a legend and character. Well worth visiting the pub. Chicago tradition at this stage.

A Nice Surprise!

By Debbie A |

Just a block from a bunch of chain restaurants such as Hard Rock, Rain Forest Cafe, etc. which were all very crowded. Walked into this Irish pub and was very pleasantly surprised. Had a delicious lunch of fish and chips served by an adorable young waiter from the Dingle Peninsula. Felt more like I was in Ireland, rather than Chicago!

A Fantastic Night Out!

By 356speedster1975 |

The Kerryman is overflowing with atmosphere! In true Irish Bar style, the place is brimming with character, fun and great people. If you're in town and looking for a fun Irish themed night out, this is the place to go!

Great place to hang out

By GatashMA |

We wanted some drinks, maybe snacks, and conversation. This was the perfect place. The decor is welcoming. The bar staff were friendly and attentive. I thought the claddadh wings were pretty good. Lots of other patrons, but the noise didn't overpower our conversation. I'll return.

Irish Beverage in Chicago

By Elizabeth K |

The outside invited us in for a cocktail after a nice greasy, juicy combo at Portillos. It was early, the afternoon of the final BlackHawks game. You could tell that they were preparing for a busy evening. Nice drink. "Irish looking bar."

Best Authentic Irish Pub

By Shanel S |

This place is adorable. The drinks are great. Not too expensive. Very authentic Irish pub. Huge inside with an upstairs.

Forgotten Gem in River North

By ryantell30 |

The Kerryman is my “comfort” restaurant in River North. I can always go there for a drink, lunch, dinner, happy hour, mid-week, weekend...and always leave happy. The food is above average, the staff is super friendly, the daily specials are better than most places in the area, the occasional “pop up” food specials are outstanding, and the people watching when it’s nice out is fantastic. PLUS, they are dog friendly. The crowd is typically on the more mature side although it can still get quite lively, generally on the 2nd floor. Also, don’t sleep on this place for your next brunch after a night out.

Pub with garden-like seating street-side - great stop

By Marshall B |

Wanted to enjoy the outdoors but also have some good bar food - had both. Comfortable seating behind/beside trellises that provided both atmosphere and privacy. Steak/fries was great, as was the reuben. Definitely recommend for an easy and not too expensive (for Chicago) night out.

Local Find

By Raphael L |

This Irish owned tavern, who has very good pours for the money, also has a fantastic ,menu selection from Hors douevers to a full dining selection. They also are pet friendly and do allow dog owners to bring their animal relatives and also drink from house provided bowls of waters. This tavern that serves great food and drink is a local gem.

How Did I Not Know About This Place?!

By paintgirlchgo |

Was told that the Kerryman (Irish Pub) has been in this location for 11 years. No idea how this one escaped me. What a terrific place to take a load off, have some chow and get a cocktail after a long day. Especially neat around Christmas -- just LOVE the lights and decor (especially in the upstairs back bar) after sundown. Throw in a bartender who's actually Irish (or has nailed an Irish accent) -- even better. The food was great (several of us had the Shepard's Pie, the cocktails were delicious (from Moscow Mule, to wine, to Tito's), and the service was terrific. And, as an added bonus -- we had low batteries on our cell phones, so the bartender located charging cords and charged us back up behind the bar. Very nice. Highly recommend you try the Kerryman if you're looking for more of a neighborhood/casual feel -- but only 5-6 blocks west of Michigan Avenue.

My favorite place in Chicago

By aulee92 |

I love a good Irish pub, and this is one of the best (imo). Indoor and outdoor seating, with two levels on the inside. Wait staff work hard and fast. Food was excellent (we ate here 3 times in 5 days). Ask for a proper pint, and you get a Guiness without a question. Place looks great too. Well maintained.

Really nice Irish Pub

By Walsung |

I have been to The Kerryman twice now and really enjoy the place. It has a very nice atmosphere, large TV screens to watch the game, a good selection of beers, and very good food. The Shepherds Pie is probably the best one I have ever had. The bread pudding dessert is also very good. The service is friendly, and the price to right, so it's a great place to have a beer, grab something to eat, and watch a game.

lovely little Irish bar

By sctgurumaster |

Good food and beer. The Guinness is as good as I have tasted and I have tried this in Dublin and at the Guinness brewery in Malaysia....good value for money and lovely staff

An Excellent Irish Pub/restaurant

By William M |

Sat on the beautiful patio on a glorious summer Chicago evening. This Irish pub has flawless serving staff and an excellent array of Beer, white and cocktails. The food is fabulous. I had the Chicken Curry which was excellent....my partner devoured the tasty Shepards Pie. They have live Irish music every Sunday. It's fun to sit one the patio and watch all the people with dogs pass by in review.

Kerryman Bar & Grill

By rjmack37 |

Great food & outdoor seating. A lovely Irish Pub in a good location. I would definitely return. Service & waitstaff awesome.

History In The Making

By Veronica G |

Choosing The Kerryman as one of my favorite bar/restaurant/pub destinations was not a hard decision to make at all--- it's so pretty. The patio/outdoor seating area and environs set the mood easily...In addition, the staff is patient and polite..

Up the Kingdom

By Gary W |

Great bar. Watched a World Cup game and the service was exceptional. Decor was excellent and the place was very clean. I counted around 30 Irish whiskey types on the menu. Can"t wait to go again.

Sampling Ale

By ukconchords |

A great bar with a great selection of beers, sampled one or two or three of them while sat outside in the sun, whats not to like with that a great place which also does great food

GREAT experience!

By onlyaura |

They're called the "Liveliest Irish bar in Chicago" and I believe it. From the Irish server, to the authentic food choices, I'm thrilled to discover this place during my first trip to Chicago. We had the Poutine skillet for brunch - wonderful. My only suggestion is to request an extra side of the red wine gravy, you'll want to lick it off your fingers. We had the fish taco appetizer. It was well seasoned & even though only 2 come in an order, they have ample ingredients. The gouda mac & cheese was very tasty & not over cooked. Saturday & Sunday brunch offers $5 Kerry Mary's and mimosas. Those Mary's are spot on!

Great food ina rlaxed atmosphere

By 1112Pat |

They have outdoor seating as well as inside. It is not the typical bar food. they have selection such as a salad with fresh salmon, great burgers . Relaxed atmosphere, outdoors you can bring your dog and children. Staff is very nice and service oriented.

Lunch visit

By Darrien L |

Nice lunch, cute place. Had the Greek salad with chicken and some wine, it was great. I would go again.

Friendly, great drink selection, and great food.

By Aspen207 |

I popped in here solo for happy hour and a bite to eat during a business trip recently. The staff is very friendly and helpful, great drink selection, and the food exceeded my expectations. Try the wings. I’ll be back on my next trip!

Lunch In The Kerryman

By John H |

This is a very large Public House and Restaurant and we visited it for lunch. Prior to viewing the menu we enjoyed some very good Guinness. The lunch menu catered for all tastes and everybody enjoyed what they ordered. The service was very good, prompt and unobtrusive and we were so contented that we stayed for some more time to enjoy the Guiness.

Cool Atmosphere-Decent food.

By mesagrunt |

The interior is pretty authentic for an Irish pub. The food was average, the "Kerry Mary" (bloody mary) was decent. The dessert was amazing! I had Shepherd's Pie-I've had better. I guess I expected it to be a little more lively for an Irish Pub.

Nice surprise

By Kristina B |

We were hiding from the summer heat and found this very nice pub, just a few blocks from our hotel. You almost expect a pub to be dark and a bit shabby, this place is totally different to that image. Very nice staff and good beer, thanks!

Nice finding

By gustavozagonel |

I found The Kerryman by accident, while walking the neighborhood close to my hotel. Stayed at the bar in the second floor, and had a really good time! The menu have a good selection of beers, and the burgers available are really good! I had the Hangover Burger, and it was delicious (and big, so get ready to deal with all that food). The service was really helpful and the place is really cool! There are lots of big screen TVs broadcasting sports.

Traditional Irish pub

By kcoombstravel |

Great on a chilly day for soup & sandwich or wings and traditional pub food. I got the tomato soup and my GF got chicken chili. My soup had a different kind of tang though. Boneless wings were yummy.

Truely awesome, one of those places to come back to...

By Peter H |

Great food, great craft beer on tap, very friendly and competent service, all in all a place to recommend if you're in the mood for a bit and a good beer.

Great atmosphere with a great tasting meal. Will be back!

By JohnEire |

Visited this bar/restaurant with my parents last night. Got a nice table upstairs overlooking the bar. Nice menu with plenty of options. I got a beautifully prepared salad with Jumbo Prawns and also tasted the seafood chowder. I would definitly recommend both. My parents were also delighted with there all day breakfast, which was far from your typical grease filled irish breakfast but in fact very well cooked and the ingredients were very high quality - real kerrygold butter sachets were a real nice touch. Would not hestitate to recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening meal in the Chicago center area.

Great dinner

By Matt C |

Bacon jam burger was great, fish and chips was the best I ever had but my favorite one I tried was the stew. All was very good! Chicken wings sauce is unique and extremely flavorful.

Terrific food, relaxed atmosphere..

By jwburton1967 |

Really relaxed atmosphere and terrific food, Irish bar/restaurant, ordered a quesadilla starter with a bacon jam burger and curry chips as a main, and got to say it’s the best food I’ve tried in Chicago over the past week..

Attractive bar, friendly service, but insanely loud

By PrairiePaddler |

We were drawn here by the interesting back story to the building described on their website -- the exterior is beautiful, the interior looks like a dark sports bar. The staff was effusively friendly, fare average, and the noise level was deafening. I can see the attraction for locals and I imagine it's a fine weekday hangout for regulars, but as visitors I felt we could have done better with a precious evening in the city.

Beer and a burger

By wendyarmit100 |

Stopped here for a beer and a burger Good quality food although they did not know what a lager shandy was but made it for us anyway

Real Kerry Hospitality!

By Mary Pat F |

Lovely spot - great food and atmosphere! We had the sliders - nice wine list - all round a great stop! The owner came by to say hello - real Kerry hospitality....

Great Again

By Raphael L |

I met a friend there for cocktails and dinner. Great setting, good pours, and probably the best fish and chips in the city. We had great service from Connor and sister Golden. This place is a hidden gem and mostly known too locals. As an FYI, a great place to have an industry get together over cocktails and nosh on the second floor for 30-40. Drop in and catch the spirit(s).

Good pub food

By milligan50 |

After arriving our hotel late, we popped across the street for a late vite. Excellent serving staff. Thanks, Kerry! Good pub food

Out of the cold and into Ireland!

A nice freezing day in Chicago turned warm with the reception in this awesome pub. Inspired: server Mallory was Atmosphere: Irish pub Service: excellent Food: nice cassoulet Drink: cold Smithwicks of course Transportation: walked from Loop Discovered: walking by Return: I would love to soon

Nice pub to chill and enjoy good food!!

By KKBuddy |

We have been here 2 times, to watch the Euro Soccer quarterfinals. Were first at Fados 2 blocks south, but didn't get any table, so we headed here, and were lucky to get here afterall. Less crowded, bigger screens, were sitting at the bar and had good talk with the bar tenders. We had american burger and bison burger the first time, really juicy and tasty, 2nd time grilled chicken with boursin and steak and eggs on potatoes. Awesome!! Couple of cold Blue Moon with that, we had a great time.

Quiet for a Friday at 7...but that is a good thing!

By Bank_Nerd |

We first walked into Stout across the street / which is a replica of Rockit vibe...couldn't hear each other so we went to Kerryman. I had a johnnie w (red) for $9 and my sister had a red wine for about the same. The place was pretty empty considering how large it was. My guess it has seen its better days when it first opened and 'Stout' bar is the it in the area - across street so prob took away from them....we didn't mind the quiet but I can see how the cool kids may not want to be here. I'm 45...never get out...and like to hear my companions. So this was good for us. But if your looking to pickup ~ go where the crowd is then go across the street.

Great Irish pub

By daytondunn2016 |

This place has good food, great staff, easy location! Pub food with good service, nice outside area too.

Outstanding!

By Patrick D |

My 8 year old daughter and I went for dinner (and drinks for me). Both of us left thrilled, she’s a picky eater and I may never be able to get her to order anything other than fish and chips again these were so good. Excellent beer selection, good atmosphere, and great service. I highly recommend it if you’re in the mood for pub food and a good bar.

Original pub

Great location, nice interior and outside patio. Very good food and service. Overall nice atmosphere.

Very Nice Irish Pub

By Ric H |

Stopped in prior to departing Chicago. The Bar was very nicely done. Bar staff was nice and helpful. Seating upstairs was nice and quiet. I would return to spend more time here. Very clean.

Quick drink

Really nicely decorated bar in central Chicago. Outside is stunning. Hanging baskets make this a very authentic irish bar

Great Pub!

By Raphael M |

It's just a great pub! Went there a couple times and always had a great time, met nice people, had good conversations also with the friendly barkeepers! Food is awesome, too!

Fabulous food

By mickylou2015 |

Came across this pub just as we were starting to feel hungry. Great choice on menu & when our food arrived, it didn't disappoint. Very friendly service. Shame it was on our last day as we would happily have gone again.

Irish pub delivers!

By mcarthy27 |

I'm not sure I've ever had an Irish bar that disappoints. There's just that feel about Irish bars and The Kerryman was inviting and cozy! With a great selection of draft beers and delicious food and tvs, it's was a no brainer to watch the 5th game of the World Series 2016 there. Colin the bartender took great care of me, and from the Motherland himself. I had a delicious Grilled cheese sandwich with tasty sweet potato fries and a yummy bacon aioli! Be sure to stop in for a pint if you are near!!!

Don’t mislead vegetarians

By Melissa L |

We took a guest from the uk., a vegetarian. Checked the menu. They had a impossible burger. So we booked nice Irish duo playing Server came. No impossible burger. I can do you a salad sotjout the meat or quesadilla without meat. Ummmmmm so not great The Irish breakfast I had was lovely Need to update website menu and actual menus. Or actually have a vegetarian option

Great Irish Pub

By Nathan G |

We ate between lunch and dinner, which usually isn't the best indicator of food quality. However, the food was fine and the Irish staff and ex-pats in the place added to the authenticity.

Very good option

By Evoltan |

One of the best restaurants in town. Very good food quality. The place is also very pleasant and the prices are good as well.

Lunch or Dinner, and even after!

By The_Italian_Reviewer |

I go to Kerryman often for lunch. My order is always the same: The Cheddar Burger with pepper jack cheese. I really like the mix of bacon and burger. I like the way they cook it and I really enjoy the good Guinness in the pub atmosphere. Service is always good and the place is clean. Stop by for lunch, go there for dinner, go there for a good beer (they have some good local beer on draft!).

Lovely Bar

By Alanh1964 |

Love the decor

By Lauren R |

Loved the look of the Kerryman from the outside, and loved the decor on the inside too. Great friendly, atmosphere to sit in. We had a couple of beers and shared some starters. Food was nice, but wasn't the best we had. Great place to stop for drinks and I would go back.

True Irish pub!

By Laura P |

This is a true Irish pub because they serve Magners cider! Excellent appetizer choices and hospitable waitstaff. It has been a while since I've been back so I hope they've kept up the great service!

A true Irish Pub

By JenG1234 |

If you like Whiskey, Scotch or Ales - then you've arrived at the right place. If you want to drink much of anything else, then you're probably out of luck. This is a true Irish pub and our waitress was even from Ireland. We stopped in for a drink on a bar hop through Chicago and enjoyed a drink on their outdoor patio area. Service was good and it was a relaxing time. Not on a main street so there wasn't a lot of traffic to disrupt being outside.

Disappointed

By Sally C |

We love Irish pubs and spent ages tracking this one down . Unfortunately our Chicago visit coincided with the Bears first foray into the finals since 1908 and it certainly affected some of our visit here . We took the only table left , in a bleak corner near the door on our own . The waitress really couldn't be bothered ( missing game?) , food average at best , cocktails poor . She brought my husband completely the wrong beer and disappeared so we left . Door security staff were lovely .

Great pub

By Samantha K |

This restaurant was close to our hotel. The food was great and the atmosphere was nice. We stopped in a couple of times during our stay and were pleased with the service and the food each time

Met up with an old friend

By TravelTripster17 |

What a way to spend a beautiful summer night in Chicago. A late dinner at the Kerryman. We enjoyed our dinner with our Chicagoan friend and took advantage of the beautiful weather and sat outside. This Irish bar restaurant has many choices on the menu. My friend had the fish and chips. She really enjoyed flaky fish in a light batter. My husband got boneless wings for the table. Excellent. Had a kick but not too spicy. My husband had the Irish Burger. The burger oozed with cheddar chesse dressed with Irish bacon. He really enjoyed it. And I had the grilled Chicken sandwich with caramelized onions with a fabulous cheese. Very tasty with nice sweet potato fries on the side. Service was friendly and helpful. So if you are in the River North area of Chicago check out the Kerryman. And Enjoy!

Nice pub with friendly staff

By acousticoz |

This pub was just across the road from the hotel I was staying at. I visited twice, once to have dinner, and the other just to wet the whistle. Both times I was impressed by the service and the quality of the fare, There is a good selection of beers, both local, national and international, and the menu has good variety. The staff were very friendly and efficient. I would rate this as one of the better pubs have been to in a very long time and highly recommend it.

My idea of an Irish pub.

I made two visits to The Kerryman. I was so impressed with the first (a group social), I returned for lunch the next day. Yes, it is something of a maze of rooms and halls, but with all the dark paneling I have seen in British pubs "across the pond." The atmosphere was inviting; there was no loud music, and the televisions, while present, were not wall-to-wall. The first visit I split a Charcuterie appetizer with a colleague and it was delicious! Well worth the money and neither of us felt shorted on any of the meats and cheeses. Someone else had the quesadillas, which I don't think met 3 Texan's definition of "Tex-Mex." For lunch the next day, I had a Smithwick's Ale and Shepherd's Pie. I am not an expert here (looks like some other reviewers grew up eating it), but I will say mine was excellent. The thick slice of soda bread with butter was fantastic! Overall, a very good value. My only complaints were: while they had an extensive beer selection, they had no Harp Lager! In an Irish pub? C'mon, man! Also, they did not sell flights of drams to sample various Irish whiskies. And while the shepherd's pie was delicious, I would suggest a larger portion, fewer peas, more beef, and slice the carrots so they will mix more evenly.

Great atmosphere

By greeneyez2402 |

I enjoyed delicious fish and chips, although the fries were a little bland. My husband enjoyed the shepherds pie. The beer selection was great. Service was prompt and consistent. The atmosphere was laid back. It got a little loud a few times (Cubs game was on) so I wouldn't take my young children there.. but it was great for a night out with my husband!

¡Viva la Revolucion!

By kittyandbill |

This is a great wee pub. Judging by the etchings of a square-sailed boat above a sixth-century CE date in the doors and windows, the Kerryman specifically honoured here must be St Brendan, who was born near lovely Tralee. Irish lore claims him as the first European to reach American shores. He hardly navigated the St Lawrence seaway as far as Chicago, though! We enjoyed a showery summer afternoon laughing and chatting here. The fact that they stock Revolution Brewery’s Anti-Hero IPA helps a lot. Sometimes US brewers stray a bit OTT, loading their craft beers so heavily with hops that the underlying richness of the malt(s) is sometimes lost. Anti-Hero is perfectly balanced, and gorgeously bitter. The rest of our company enjoyed whatever they were drinking too, but none of them was as boring as me, enthusing endlessly about the joy of great beer. Our server was Madison, whose endless good humour and unobtrusive attentiveness only added to the pleasure of our visit. Sláinte go gach duine!

Excelent spot with a delicious mood! Cool, easygoing, people and some great drinks! Definitely, worth checking out and be sure you're becoming a regular!

Ok Irish pub but food is average

By JohntheLast |

Went there to celebrate St. Patrick's day a bit early. Place was jammed with a very good Irish band in the background. There are a lot of good Irish bars in Chicago and this one kind of misses the mark a bit. Food was ok but certainly not great. I had the corned beef sandwich which was ok but definitely not pilled high and pre-spread with mustard (wasn't bad but that just doesn't seem right). Chili was ok but I had far better in Chicago. I ordered the 17 year old Jameson's and it came in a shot glass. I guess the waitress (who was very nice) expected me to chug it. Great place, but you might want to go down the street to Fado for a bit better vib and food.

Home from home 💚💛!!

By foodnwine5 |

The Kerryman, now this is one real welcoming Irish bar to visit!!! It's owned by Mick n Trevor from our own home town, myself and my husband enjoyed their true Irish hospitality when we visited!! The atmosphere, staff, location, and the food are all A1 (the chef is from Limerick another bonus) as for the display of wonderful planters surrounding the patio breathtaking!!! We met some Irish J1 students on our visits, 3 evenings for dinner and 1 brunch, Sean from Killarney and a girl from Mullingar, they looked after us so well! I would recommend The Kerryman to all visitors.....not just The Irish 😉!!!

Awesome service, great food and drinks!

By Russell C |

On holiday from New Zealand, found our way to the Kerryman Irish Pub and Restaurant after very poor service at Hard Rock Cafe. Kerryman's didn't disappoint, excellent, friendly service and great food. Highly recommended!

Who doesn't love an old fashioned IRISH PUB, in Chicago?!

By linda m |

I had the BEST plant based burger I've ever had with all the toppings and a huge salad that would have fed a small family.

Awesome place.

By USMClee85 |

Sat at the bar and the waiter/bartender was young and very experienced. I ordered a drink and fish and chips and my buddy got steak loaded. Taste was amazing and portions were well designed.

St.Paddy would be proud

By Chris C |

The atmosphere here is akin to an ever so slightly rowdy Hobbit home; cosy, warm and pleasantly simmer lighting accompanied by a familiar, nostalgic blend of 'rocky bar music'. The food; I was assaulted from all sides by an army of flavours marching fourth from a steak that fell apart faster than an Italian car. There followed an Irish Coffee so perfectly balanced with cream and whisky that I could have mistaken its appearance for Guiness. Service was exemplary, surroundings were sublime, price was reasonable. I recommend this fine establishment to anyone, in the strongest possible terms.

good pretzel

By kirt v |

we went here for lunch last weekend ,, 3,, of us shared the wings , pretzel , and the sausages ,the other had the corned beef hash ,, all were good ,,,

Not Dog Friendly

By RichBlu |

Went there today for lunch on the patio, like every week during the summer with my little dog. I had the soup and gave my dog One of the oyster crackers. The waitress came by and read me the riot act about the health department laws. The customer sitting across from me said, "Is she kidding? It's not like your dog is sitting on the chair eating lunch". Most often, I'm the only customer sitting outside. If that's the case next week, no one will be sitting outside.

Would recommend!

By Same |

Would recommend! Stopped in here for lunch. Service was great, food was very good. My husband had a great chicken curry, and I had a smoked gouda macaroni cheese which was divine! Mine was also served with a fabulous salad. Nice atmosphere

Nice visit

By Noreen O |

Ya this place was nice for a bite to eat. We were served by a irish young lad and he was very polite and helpful. Food was lovely.

Pricey doesn’t offer many options

By grneyes131 |

Don’t like asking how much ch drinks are, should offer a drink menu with prices. $10.00 for one drink is crazy. Food was alright, don’t have a lot of selection if in the area wouldn’t likely return as for the price can definitely find better options

Love the Shepherd's pie. It was very good. cook perfect.

By Sally G |

Very Friendly, great service, only problem was we were seated at a tall table, which is hard for me to get upon the chairs. Was close to our hotel. which was convenience for us. since we were limited on time.

Dinner at the Kerryman Pub

By bacovelli |

Had an early dinner there before a Haunted Ghost Tour. All in the group of 12 agreed the food was excellent and fairly priced. A little nosy but what you should expect in an Irish Pub with a Notre Dame football on. Waitress was a delight!

Good Irish pub

By Katie T |

A proper Irish bar with music and good food. Dinner here was great, good Irish comfort food. We called on the day and got a booking for 12 and the staff were great.

Friday Fish fry

By donnan957 |

We were optimistic that the Fish Fry was going to a winner, but unfortunately it was A strike out. Presentation was beautiful but the fish was questionable and the breading was too doughy.

Energetic night life

By MickyG |

We went to the Kerryman to watch PPV Wilder v Fury fight. Fun, rowdy atmosphere. Our waitress did a fantastic job keeping up in such a big crowd. The artichoke dip was tasty. Loved the apple bourbon bread pudding. Lots of cocktail options. Nice wine & whiskey selections.

Worth the walk !

By Julie M |

We were recommended this pub and we walked for ages to get there but it was worth it.The pub is on a corner with lots of flowers and vines covering it so it looks very pretty and inviting there is an outside seating area which is very nice and good for people watching as it was a bit noisy inside with a lot of sports screens and people watching the games. The drinks were quite expensive we didn't eat there but there was an extensive menu of Irish type pub food plus burgers and sandwiches etc

Friendly neighbourhood pub

By sjmegy |

Excellent vibe the night I visited. Felt more like a neighborhood joint where folks knew each other. Great Guinness (as good as can be expected in the USA).

Great find! Wait until you see what we ordered!

By myred86 |

Neat place we happened upon after taking the Chicago Film Tour. Great old building with an even better atmosphere. The food was tremendous. As we had a long drive ahead, my wife and I wanted something fairly light so we each got the chicken quesadilla appetizer. Yeah, that’s right, we went to an Irish Pub and had a quesadilla! It was awesome and like none other we had ever had before. Very fresh and we both especially liked the spinach in it. I truly wish we could have spent more time there. It was a bit cool that day, but sitting outside looks like fun. Next time!

Very nice

By Mikek686 |

Great selection of Irish Whisky cold Guiness poured right wife had some soup which was very good the staff was great

Great spot for drinks

By sleekpeek |

Only sampled the drinks .. the food delivered to the bar tables looked good too.. Locals also frequent the bar. Note: restrooms are downstairs.

What a joke to say it's Irish

By Ychick11 |

One Irish beer on the whole menu and they play Whitney Houston. If you want an Irish Pub, this is NOT the place.

Best sliders anywhere!

By mbo250 |

Loved the atmosphere! The food was great, and drinks, too. Best sliders anywhere! Friendly sports bar!

Excellent Shepard's pie!

By NRSAFlyer |

A quaint Irish pub. Staff was extremely friendly. I was with several people that really liked their food. I had Shepard's pie and would go back again for that.

Didn’t like the food

By Neta_Avivi |

I did not like the food at Kerryman’s nor did I like the atmosphere. The service was OK but not friendly. It might be a good place to grab a beer but not as a restaurant.

Classic Irish Pub

By Brad B |

Had a meal here while traveling solo for work. The Kerryman met my criteria for a great Irish Pub by having 1) an actual Irish person working there (the hostess) and 2) great fish and chips. Good selection of beers on tap including local brews and of course, Guinness.

Great atmosphere and food!

By Kelsey N |

We visited on St. Patrick's Day and it was a madhouse! The waitstaff, hosts and bartenders didn't bat an eye though. They handled the crowd with ease and were very friendly and patient. The table was worth the wait. The Mac and Cheese was the best I've ever had and a huge portion!

The kind of Irish Pub you want to Visit!

By davew49 |

Great drinks and equally good food. Multi levels, rustic bar and good service. Loved the ivy walls and outdoor dining area and the corned beef was excellent. This will be a regular visiting spot each time I'm in Chicago

Guinness the way God intended it!

By BBKiwi97 |

Stumbled across The Kerryman on my way back to the hotel, it looked inviting for a quick pick not and boy was I right! Friendly service and a great pint of Guinness, pity I've got to work in the morning otherwise would have stayed for more...

Great spot!

By juliekenben |

Great place for drinks, great place for food. Friendly warm efficient service. Best Old Fashioned cocktail! And on Sunday, the best bloody mary for only $5. Recommend the soup, the fish and chips, the corned beef sandwich. TVs in bar to watch sports as well.

Be sure to order the Maple Bourbon Apple Bread Pudding

By Taylor B |

After researching the rankings of the best Irish pubs in Chicago, according to a dozen food critics, my wife and I came to the difficult conclusion that Chief O'Neill's and Kerryman ranked 1-2 in popularity. So we decided to visit both of them to see if they are as good as advertised. Answer in the affirmative. Located at 661 North Clark Street, at Erie and Clark, in the River North neighborhood, only a nine blocks from our Gold Coast home, Kerryman is a multilevel pub with a menu of Irish dishes and bar food expertly and lovingly prepared by three owners and a chef who all hail from Ireland. You can't get more Irish than that. Open at 11 a.m. daily, Kerryman has come a long way since it was a gangster hangout known as McGovern Saloon and Chicago's original punk club. Today, it is one of Chicago's liveliest Irish pubs that is known for its Bloody Marys and old-fashioned cocktails, fish and chips and corned beef sandwiches. We started with Black Angus sliders with American cheese, bacon, ketchup, pickle and brioche, traditional tomato soup and pretzels and cheese with cheddar, cheese sauce, bacon jam and caraway mustard. For a main course, I couldn't resist an Irish cheddar burger with a half-pound of Black Angus beef, Irish cheddar and Irish bacon on a golden bun. My wife chose Shepherds Pie with ground beef, vegetables, beef gravy, mashed potato, cheddar and house Irish cheddar soda bread. Be sure to save enough appetite for dessert. Don't pass up the Maple Bourbon Apple Bread Pudding with brown sugar caramel, chantilly custard and vanilla bean gelato. It provides a delicious topper to a delightful lunch.

Cold beer on warm night

By Andy W |

Didn't eat there during our visit but did drop in there a couple of times for drinks ,good service cold Guinness and pleasant atmosphere and perfectly located across from our hotel.

Healthy choices available

By HerTriness |

We almost didn't eat here because healthy options aren't usually found on Irish pub menus. We were wrong, but we still ended up sticking with traditional Irish fare. My husband had the corned beef sandwich and I had the Irish stew special, which was phenomenal. I would definitely eat this again.

Probably the best Irish Pub in the USA

By john M |

On the recommendation of friends from Kerry I brought a group of rugby fans to the Kerryman in Chicago. The owners Trevor and Mick are proper Kerry men and know what it means to run an Irish Pub. The staff including manager Colm, Shane and Grainne are 100% Irish and well able to deliver pints under pressure. The food and drink were excellent and great Irish music created a truly Irish atmosphere. I'll definitely be back and would recommend the Kerryman to anyone going to Chicago.

Nice Lunch Stop

By Bosox61 |

Stumbled on this place looking for a late afternoon bite to eat and was not disappointed. We enjoyed the Chopped Salad and baked pretzels as well as extensive selection of draft beer. Nice outdoor sidewalk setting as well. Good service and good food, you can’t go wrong.

Always fun

By Chris U |

This bar is always a great place to visit. Good food and great bartenders. One of my favorite Irish bars in the city. Always feel welcomed when I stop in

Nice neighborhood place for lunch

By Dianne1228 |

Met my daughter for lunch at this friendly corner restaurant because the vege dishes looked interesting. I tried the White Bean Cassoulet which was a hearty blend of beans and root vegetables, but a little bland. Came with a nice arugula and shaved Parmesan sandwich. My daughter eats here regularly and had her favorite shrimp salad that featured plenty of large plump shrimp in a colorful mix of greens and veges. Our server was friendly and didn't rush us. I'd definitely return and try other items.

Guinness Poured Properly, Fantastic Irish Atmosphere!

By Jim S |

We had dinner at the Kerryman while in Chicago on business. The staff were very friendly, and took the time to ask about our visit, and comment on the menu items we ordered. Reminded me of the folks you will meet in Ireland at a pub. And to top it off, the Guinness was poured properly! We will be back at our next visit!

Authentic Irish Bar

By Sarah S |

This place hits the nail on the head when it comes to Irish ambiance. The Irish flags are hanging everywhere, the bar is typically packed, even more so on a rugby or football day. The drinks are delicious and you just get good vibes being there. Love this place!

When you want to relax with friends, especially out-of-towners

By swede52497 |

When out with friends, especially out-of-towners, I'd recommend The Kerryman. Love the authentic Irish food, accents, and reasonably priced food instead of feeling like we have to take them to the most expensive or sought-after restaurants. Love the Shepard's Pie. mmmmm

Great food - great service

By Paul B |

The Kerryman delivers service like you can't even believe. The waitstaff is so fast and so friendly. Not rushed or rushing us- just efficient. The Shepard's pie was delicious. the spices were complex and the food was fresh. The fish and chips were perfectly prepared. Best fish and chips in Chicago. If you have a small group or a large group - and you want to experience Irish cuisine - don't go anywhere else. This is top quality in every facet of the restaurant experience.

We were left unattended

By 296edmundp |

Came in mid-afternoon to reserve a table for 5:30 PM. The place was empty and the bartender took his laptop out to put our name down and phone number. We came back promptly at 5:30 PM and the bar area was filled and noisy. We were ushered to the outside, and that too, was crowded and noisy. We wanted a quiet dinner, so we were ushered upstairs. I mentioned to the staff, "I hope you won't forget us here," since we were the only customers upstairs. Twenty minutes lapsed and we kept getting the attention of the staff downstairs, but no one came to serve us. We left and went to another fancy restaurant that took us in without reservations. Never again with The Kerryman!

Great place to watch a game!

By SLHartlen |

Found this place when out and about looking for a good Pub. Great atmosphere, great food, excellent place to watch the game!

Make this a must!

By stevie |

The atmosphere was like being back in Ireland, sitting at a local Pub! Hannah gave us a fantastic pour of Guinness and both the fish n chips and Shepards Pie was spot on! Local musicians playing trad Irish every Sunday til 7! It's our new hangout!

FUN IRISH PUB

By World Traveler |

Whats not to like, three levels, booths, large bars, lively crowd. You should call ahead and reserve a table or you will be standing the whole time. The place gets packed.

Gorgeous pub with great food!

By L V |

We went out on a Saturday night and couldn't get in to any restaurants. However, the Kerryman was able to get us right in. I had the best fish and chips! It was so fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was very lively as the bar was full of people watching college football. The pub was also decked out for Christmas, which was really great. I would definitely recommend this pub for authentic Irish food!

Great burgers

By K848 |

We stopped by The Kerryman as we were looking for a place to have lunch close to our hotel. The place was quite empty but still had a good atmosphere with tellys above the bar playing sport. Our server were really friendly and our food came out piping hot and nicely presented. The burgers were delicious and just as we had asked them to be cooked.

Great fun good food

By Eileen115 |

Wonderful Irish pub food and generous servings We ordered the shepherds pie, steak sandwich and steak frites, each was special. Wonderful friendly service. We'll be back.

Quality

Been coming to Chicago for years and love this bar! Friendly staff and the best wings around by far.....see you again next year

Poor customer service

First time in Kerry man.Drinks were grand. Service was very bad, shout-out Maria she was very rude and unpleasant. Won’t be back here again!

Happy Hour!

By pauliepalmz |

Our party of eight had great service and dinner on a Friday night. The happy hour goes until 7 and includes $4 Guinness drafts- $6 Tito drinks and a $10 fish fry ( it was amazing and huge). All the food we ordered was prompt and delicious and the manager took time to come to our table to give us the history of the building- very interesting. Sorta of touristy but in a good way- about a 10 minute walk to the pub from the John Hancock building.

It's a must stop for brunch and drinks

By pjpowers82 |

We had lunch here one day and brunch another. The brunch is awesome, the cooks do a great job. The staff is friendly, although our waitress kept messing up our drink orders, so was always quick to fix it and was really friendly with the table. I recommend either one of the bowls or steak and eggs.

A MUST DINE IN STOP FOR ANY CHICAGO TRIP

By Dreamer031215 |

Absolutely love this place!! My husband and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and when I say they make you feel like family-THEY DO. It's been 3yrs since that night and every single time we've come in we are remembered and its like catching up with family. Now the food OMG its beyond amazing. Every time we go, I try something new as does my husband and children and we have never been let down. Always listen to the servers suggestions they know what they're talking about. Drinks are always fun my go to drink it the Bloody Mary for brunch and for dinner an Alone Together hits the spot every time. Beware though if there is a good game scheduled to play get there early because that place will fill up before you even park your car. and even with the crowds you're still treated like your a VIP guest

Amazing Food & Sevice

By Bella |

This restaurant offers excellent food and service. We had Allison as our waitress and she was great. Helpful with giving us ideas of what to order and so attentive. We had the wings and pretzel to start. The wings hot not spicy and so tasty. The pretzel with its cheese sauce and pork jam was amazing. The grilled cheese was amazing so many flavors in this delicious dish we also had the corn beef and the bacon burger all delicious and the flavors were so delightful. The Drinks were good as well. I would recommend and we will definitely going back and asking for Allison. This outdoor restaurant has planters lining the area where you eat which is nice doesn’t feel like your on the sidewalk. Be sure to make this a place you try when in Chicago

A great place to eat

By Sue P |

A great pub with a good choice on the menu and excellent food. Both the food and the drinks were reasonably priced and the live music was good background music. Unfortunately we once found it at the end of our stay or we may have gone again.

Great, great pub and food

By CliveWatkins |

I don't know if it's the best pub n Chicago, but it was great by me. Great bar servers and service, generous drinks and fair prices. But don't neglect the food here because it couldn't be better. Sliders perfectly prepared, great wings and chicken fingers and fish and chips is a worthy treat. You'll have fun here, short walk from the hotels

Top Class

By Damian O |

Called here for a drink last week. The hospitality was excellent. The pint of Guinness was just as good as if you ordered from St James Gate. The customers at the bar were the friendliest I have ever seen and the staff make you feel like your one of the family. All in all this place Rocks. 10/10 keep er lit fellas

Nice Irish Pub and Restaurant

By rmeade88 |

We just happened by the Kerryman while walking around and decided to stop in for a drink. We were seated in a very comfortable booth in the bar area. Couple of nice big TV's above the bar would make it a decent place to watch a game. There is also another bar and dining area up on the second floor. Pretty cool. We were looking for a snakebite (traditionally Harp and Strongbow mixed equally) but were surprised to find they did not have either on tap. We made do by ordering both in the bottle and mixing them ourselves. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is really cool and we lingered quite a while just enjoying this place. We saw some food go by and it looked great, especially the burgers and steak fries. Will definitely try a meal here next time. Overall this is a cool place that I would definitely visit again.

Nice little pub

By MNSQ575 |

This is a nice spot for a beer and something quick to eat. Nice tap beer list and pretty good appetizer selection. Fairly attentive service and reasonably priced.

Solid Irish Pub

By JP Explorer |

Enjoyed the atmosphere which reminded me of many good nights at pubs in Ireland. Did not had food but enjoyed the service and drinks. Would definitely go again when back in Chicago - prefer it over the many generic chain restaurant/pubs.

Good Atmosphere

By nathanld86 |

The bar has some nice charm to it. It has a typical drink menu. The food menu is mostly typical Americanized Irish pub food. I didn't eat their brunch, but it looked amazing on the menu.

Great pub, excellent shepherds pie

By Steve L |

Have visited the Kerryman many times over the last few years. Great atmosphere, wonderful bar team and the shepherds pie is perfect, made with lamb, as it should be.

Great pub

By Louisej86 |

Visited the kerryman with family recently. It's a lovely pub with good atmosphere and character. Served a great pint of Guinness and it's lovely to hear the Irish accents!

Great Food, a Great for Watching a Game, Nice Outdoor Seating

By Jen A |

We are semi "regulars" ~the food is great & the servers are really nice. There is a fun pub trivia night here. It's also a great place to watch a basketball, baseball or hockey game (being Chicago, it's a great way to experience the "sports town" that it is). The Shrimp Salad is really good, as are all the burgers. The Buffalo Burger is one of our favorites (with a Stella). The sidewalk patio is very pretty & pleasant. With umbrellas & lovely plantings.

A mainstay

By Michal F |

A mainstay. A group of us seem to end up here every time we party in river north and usually we don't regret it. As an irish pub it has great design. It has three levels that open up to overlook each other and a bridge that allows those on the uppermost to view the bar below. The music and DJ's have been great each time I've went. Consistently Top 40. Only compliant is that the dance area is small and shares space with a bar so it gets incredibly crowded. Prices are comparable as the rest of river north although at $8 the Long Island seems a steal. One night a friend of ours felt at liberty to boast of her great drinking abilities. Three long islands put her under the table with ease.
