Great night with friends!

By Susan B |

Small venue for dinner and live music. Dinner portions were generous and the prices not outrageous. There is a $10 cover charge for the music which runs til 10:30 pm. Various acts are booked each month. Make a reservation!

What a FUN little place!

By 23travelinfool23 |

Some friends treated us to an incredibly enjoyable evening at this funky little place adorned with a permanent stage filled with musical instruments and musicians for the listening pleasure of those who wander in. This night we got to experience tremendous jazz music led by Tony Hakim and team and monthly treat of AubreyAnn at the mic. The food was very good for the short listed daily specials. Kudos to this place!

Just OK. Jazz for Charity Night a good cause.

By Jose H |

Came here for the jazz charity night. Avoid The Clay Pritchard Trio. Uncle Jimmy on the bass is just there to "show up" two other guys. Tempo? What tempo? I get it, jazz. But this guy plays in a one-man trio. He is good but does not play well with others IMHO. Respect the band. The sax & drums are great! Good job figuring out uncle Jimmy's solos & working around them. The GDYO Combo...now that is a well put together band! Check them out! As for the food...we ordered the meatloaf. When the waiter says "careful, the plate is hot", you know it came straight out of the microwave oven. Not bad, just OK. The salad was good. Dessert even better.

Great place for a nice evening out

By LCinTX |

If you would like a rather intimate atmosphere with good food and entertainment , I recommend you check out The Kitchen Cafe Entertainment is scheduled on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Tony Hakim (owner) is a wonderful singer and frequently performs. He knows just about every entertainer in Dallas, so you should not be disappointed. There generally is a $10 cover, but after seeing the quality of entertainment provided ... don't think you will mind this fee. More times than not there will be an entertainer friend of his in the audience who ends up getting onstage to play or sing with the current nights performer. Always a fun place. Check it out !

The Live Music Was Great

By Classicsmjr |

This is a place I would have never found unless I went with locals. While I thought the food was ok-some hits and misses-the live music and owner were fantastic. It really is a special place and the atmosphere and friendly owner are worth going out of your way to visit.

A North Dallas Jewel

By John T |

I have had several friends and relatives suggest we visit The Kitchen Cafe. A group of us went last night and I quickly regretted waiting so long to make this visit. The owner has staffed this little club with a friendly team that make you very welcome. The food was very good and the music was a real treat with a mix of jazz and songs known and enjoyed by young and not so young. The sound system was perfect for the room. I expect to visit again soon and often.

Go See Aubree Anna at the Kitchen Cafe

By K7118AZjohnm |

Great place. The show for us is the first Thursday of each month when Aubree Anna performs. This is a small venue and she just glows in it. The have other good entertainment but we go for her. Tony and Lisa are great and we enjoy them but Aubree Anna is the draw for us.

Cozy Little Spot

By Jim J |

I love it!!! I often take the wife there for some cozy one-on-one time and listen to some pretty good music. The food is good (limited menu)...but good. The ambiance is great, the crowd is seasoned and gracious. The service is always good. There is a cover charge of $10/person that is added on to your ticket. Well worth it! They always welcome you in when you come back.

Still great but

By George C |

This is a great place for live music , my only problem is they recently added a10 dollar a person cover, we still like this place but will not go there that often we can see most of the entertainers we like at other venues with no cover charge. Just dislike adding 20 dollars to the hundred we normally spend on food and drink

A hidden Jewel

By najwa n |

My first time visiting the kitchen café, I was not sure of hat to expect. I absolutely loved this hidden jewel!! It was cozy, entertaining and fully packed. You'll find more senior citizens in here enjoying the music, or I guess it might depend of what program is running for the night. The owners. Tony with his great talent and his beautiful wife are very welcoming. I believe the menu is limited, or maybe changes every time, but the food we had was good. We were offered mushroom soup, salad, and steaks which we enjoyed with wine. The most important aspect was the music and the overall atmosphere. As for the price, I thought it was reasonable. We paid $320 for four of us, including the $20 cover charge. The restaurant/cafe opens only twice a week, Friday and Saturday evenings. It's worth a visit!

Very Disappointed.

By Greg R |

We had a very disappointing experience with The Kitchen regarding their Valentine’s Day pricing. We were going to be a party of 6. We were told directly that dinner would be $100 per person, but when we tried to make a reservation the next day, the price suddenly jumped to $125 per person. When we brought the price change to the owner’s attention, he claimed he would look into it and call us back. Instead, his wife called and pretended she had dialed the wrong number, acting as if she had no idea what we were talking about. Once we explained the $100 quote, she flat-out refused to honor it. The owner never called back, despite promising he would. At this point, it genuinely felt like the whole routine was staged. $600 plus drinks plus tip for an unassuming strip mall restaurant, we thought was very overpriced but we were going to make it a special night. I guess the owners thought that wasn't enough. Their behavior was rude, dismissive, and showed a complete lack of integrity. If a restaurant fails to uphold its own pricing or communicate transparently with prospective guests, it’s not a place we will ever visit.

Hidden Gem in North Dallas

By Richard R |

Love this place. Have lived near for years and did not know it existed. Food is great, especially fried shrimp and hamburger. Tony the owner does a great job of running the place. Live music that is above anything we expected. Keep it up

A great musical and gastronomic night out!

By Freealba |

What an amazing night! Visiting from Ireland. Great food, music, and an amazing balance in sound of the band and talking. Sound was not overwhelming but still delivered the amazing music and singing being performed. Massive thanks to Toni and Jacob (Who I called misting for most of The night) . Great night. If we’re back in Dallas we will be there!

Music and more

We have visited here several times for the wonderful music by local luminaries. Very impressed by the talent put forth by Front Line Entertainment.. The food, not so much. The service is passable, but not great. Juli

Jazz and Good Food

By robertrendell40 |

Kitchen Cafe in Dallas is a great place for lovers of jazz and old time songs. We recently went and heard tunes from the Beatles and James Taylor. The menu is limited but the food is very good. I had the salmon which was quite tasty. Desert was excellent. We had this dinner while listening to the music. Go and enjoy!

Great Music and Wonderful Food

By eeclaire1 |

Amazing place for live music from top talent. Musicians are not amateur level and will not disappoint. The setting is intimate, cozy and inviting and you feel like you are at a private concert. The Kitchen Cafe has a limited, but fabulous dinner menu. I love the Tempura Shrimp, the Maple Glazed Salmon, Tony Club Salad, well it's all great. Great place for a relaxing and enjoyable evening out just for two or bring your friends, because it's quiet enough to actually have a conversation.

Limited Menu, Great Enterainment

By winnie c |

I went there a little put out that there was a cover charge of $10 per person but after enjoying the entertainment, I could look past that. The food is simple but good! The environment is small and cozy and great for couples. The music is talented and worthwhile seeing. Tony Akim and his trio are a good act and always available it seems. There doesn't seem to be this type of place anywhere else in North Dallas so it really is an interesting find.

Dallas's Best Kept Secret

By Micaela D |

Tony Hakim is the brilliant and talented owner of this jewel. The jazz trio we listened to was nothing short of fabulous, but, when Tony took the mic during the jazz trio's break, we were blown away by his smooth voice and impeccable guitar playing. The food is great, service was a bit slow, but, we enjoyed ourselves (hated to leave). If you appreciate immense talent, this is the place to go. I just happened to Google jazz restaurants and decided to try this one. It has a maximum capacity of 68. I'll bet once the word gets out, he will move to a larger location. I HIGHLY recommend this place. We can't wait to go back.

Great music venue

By George C |

We have been going here for a couple of years and they have the best live music around, music is only Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, normally starting at 7:30, we went there last night to listen to a fantastic trio. The music started at 7:30 and didn't stop till 11pm . The owner chef is also a great singer and guitar player who sometimes joins band for some songs or plays during there breaks, many musician friends of the band also were there and several played with the band or between breaks also. I have always had a great time here. They serve wine and drinks and have a small menu.

Please read- this is mega entertainment

By Daniel K |

Great live music is the main attraction, but it is accompanied by a fine dining experience. We love this place, their owner is an accomplished musician who manages to book top-notch bands/jazz singers/ contemporary singers, other musicians. We especially love it when his own band plays, they are into James Taylor, Seals & Croft, Beatles, Glen Campbell, any many others from this era, as well as later. You can always count on chef quality food and loads of just plain enjoyment. Bravo Tony Hakim!!

New Orleans Blues Night

By P L |

We went on a Friday night for dinner. There were 4 of us. It is a small, intimate venue with live music. The band was very good with noted local artists. Everything was very relaxed and easy to enjoy. The food was good. We had the chicken linguini, fish and chips, salmon and quesadillas. Everyone thought it was fresh and hot out of the kitchen. The drinks will need some work. Margaritas needed some help and after we mentioned it, we got another one. The entire evening was nice and it is so great to have a place for live music in the neighborhood. Good job!

Great food, service and made sure everything went smoothly with my private party!

I have enjoyed relaxing while dining at Kitchen Cafe many times and loved it each time. Recently, I had another event for my '40 years in real estate' at Kitchen Cafe' and it was a BIG success! Tony and Lisa, the owners, were extremely helpful in providing great food, service and making sure everything went smoothly! I highly recommend this venue! Five Stars!

The jazz was very good

By JParlante |

The food was unassuming at best. I believe the main attraction is the music on the weekends. I was here on a Friday and listened to Gabe Meadows group. They were a good performance and Gabe has a beautiful voice.

Best intimate Supper Club in Dallas

By Kent P |

Ever been to a supper club totally designed and run by a talented musician who loves people and whose objective is to give them a first rate musical and dining experience in an intimate setting ? - well, this is The Place. You will leave happy and feeling more like family - guaranteed !. The menu is tasty, varied, and has items priced for everyone. The salmon is amazing ! I especially enjoy the nights devoted to Beatles, James Taylor, and Crosby Stills. Tony Hakim, the owner/ musician in charge will also make an effort to honor requests for your personal favorites.

Two stars but read the review before passing!!!

By Louis D |

This is a much needed venue in Dallas however...Tony, the owner, must decide if he is a "jazz club" of a concert venue. The food was good (given the fact the owner's signature salad left off several main ingredients; think the kitchen ran out). The service was passable but; in all the years I have been around and involved in music, clubs and entertainment--I have never..read that NEVER seen an audience admonished from a performer before. The bass player actually told the audience to "hush" during his bass solo's!!! REALLY??? He acted as if he were at Dallas' performance hall. Someone needs to give that man a definition between concert and gig! It ruined the atmosphere at at least two tables; a large table next to mine was talking about how their night was a downer even upon leaving the establishment. I will try it again as everyone has a bad night; I won't be going to hear that trio--EVER AGAIN and will make certain other venues understand who they are hiring, whenever possible.

A Jazz Find in N. Dallas

By Cecelia F |

This is one of our favorite jazz and food places in Dallas. Owner, Tony Hakim, presents jazz artists from all over the Metroplex every Wednesday -Saturday nights. Given the large number of singers and musicians living here, many of whom are graduates of UNT or UTA or teach, there is a wonderful pool to choose from. Some nights have singers with back up, some just instrumentals and some feature Tony singing and playing guitar. The website lists who's performing. There is a small cover charge so you don't have to have dinner but the food is good (menu just changed) and reasonably priced, so we usually make it a dine and listen evening. Tony handles the sound system and circulates among the tables greeting new and old while Lisa handles the dining staff and is always gracious. This is music at its best.
