Hangout for millennials especially on their patio bar. Lot of energy and noise at night. Families also eat their above average food. Good brunch on weekends.

Heard some good things about this place but was somewhat disappointed. Food was okay and service slow.

This is a newish gastropub in Woodland Hills. The food is always great, and their beers and cocktails are well selected and made. Don't miss the bread pudding.

Had dinner here with my wife and son on a Sunday. Crowded and noisy; we had a tough time conversing. My grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque were tasty -- but it would be easy to find something as good or better in a more relaxed setting. Also, they brought our appetizer after our entrees had arrived. It does take reservations, which is a plus, because it gets crowded. Valet parking in the rear

Called in for a couple of beers this afternoon, great selection and quality, food looked nice as well

A good choice for a happy hour/ dinner spot in Woodland Hills. Cool décor…plenty of patio seating…a nice selection of craft beers…and a fun menu (heavy on bacon & pork) for sharing food family-style. What’s not to like??

This restaurant mixes a comfortable atmosphere with gourmet menu items. You can sit and watch the game without sacrificing healthy food choices. We had the ceviche, salmon, chicken blue salad and the octopus/pork belly (fantastic pairing!). Everything was great including the fresh made jelly donuts for dessert.

Yummy food with great service in a laid back atmosphere! Mimosas were fabulous and they have a bloody mary bar! Will definitely be back for more:)

The best thing about The Local Peasant in Woodland Hills is the very cool vibe/atmosphere. Beautifully designed, excellent outdoor space. Great selection of craft beers. Gastropub fare is tasty. Definitely overpriced but you are paying for the vibe. I actually like coming here during off-hours; weekend mornings, or afternoons after lunch but before dinner, or non-weekend evenings; otherwise the place can be a zoo, in all aspects.

I was invited to a going away gathering at The Local Peasant and had never been there before this day. It is a spacious place with windows that open completely to the street. It can get a little noisy if you're planning on a romantic dinner, but I am writing this review based on the quality of the food. They were right about their hamburgers!! Excellent in how they made a simple hamburger taste truly delicious. The Pork Belly is also outstanding and you can add the mussels to this trio as well. All in all, a nice place to meet friends and do them right with the food on the menu. Keep up the great cooking, I say....

Great food - great burgers ... friendly staff ... meet your friends .. great place to meet and gather .. I like it , I'll be back ..

We were staying with friends for the night before our early flight out of LAX. We picked this place for dinner and it was perfect. Relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, the Moscow Mule was so good!! So glad we had a great experience so we could concentrate on catching up with friends.

My wife and I both ordered the Peasant Burger with the fried egg on the top. Both orders were cooked perfect. Ask for more napkins- you are gonna need them. the french fries were on point as well. Kind of pricey at $75 for 1 appetizer, 2 burgers one beer and a diet coke, but really good food.

Enjoy finding this gem during a recent business trip. Enjoyed the food and the cool atmosphere. I will definitely be back on a repeat trip.

They have some fantastic beers on tap, and the grilled cheese is insane! It can get pretty busy on the weekends though, so if you do plan on going with friends I would suggest planning ahead. The only real downside to The Local Peasant is for a bar located so deep in the valley parking can be a real pain. If I wanted to hike in to where I'm drinking, or pay for valet, I'd probably go to one of the hipper bars on the other end of Ventura.

We were eating at a restaurant next door named Adagio's and they had high chair for my grand daughter that was broken and the owner did nothing to help us as well as being rude and nasty. My wife went to the local peasant and they were incredibly kind and lent us a high chair. I have eaten here also and their food and drinks are great.

We love this place. Indoor/outdoor Gastro pub with inexpensive food that really good. Amazing bar, cool vibe, interesting people. There is no reason for you not to come here! I'm not being paid to say this:)

This is the second location that i've been to and both were amazing. Great drink menu and the food is great too. Had sliders which were so good! Peasant Balls (Cheese Balls) were great too. Not greasy and just the right about of cheese.

This is the second time we have been to Local Peasant and it did not disappoint! It is a great low key restaurant, with something for everyone on the menu. The food is fresh, children are welcome. Staff is friendly and helpful. This is one place to have either lunch or dinner. They have a large, fully stocked bar, strategically positioned in the middle of the restaurant. The noise level is low and patrons can have dinner conversations without raising their voices. Try this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed, and may just want to buy one of their tee shirts!

While in town on business, we walked to this casual dining spot from our hotel at the suggestion of a co-worker. It has a very casual atmosphere and because of the wide-open windows you almost feel you are dining outside. The menu is quite wide in selection and would have something to satisfy all tastes and diet restrictions. The chicken sandwich was recommended by one of our party as "the best chicken sandwich I have ever eaten!" I had the crab cakes and they were great! Lots of crab with just a bit of filler for binding and the corn salad/salsa was a perfect pairing. Lots of beers - both draft and bottle on the menu, plus a decent wine selection. We were there about 8pm on a weekday and the place really started to "jump" after 9pm. I would say this would be find to take kids...or for couples as well.

During our trip to the LA area we stopped into the Local Peasant for a late lunch on Christmas Eve. The wait staff was very friendly and the menu offered several great options. We found the burgers and fries to be very good though pricey. The chopped salad was also well worth the visit. The local IPA was also good though on the expensive side. The service was solid and timely. We'll be back on our next trip to LA.

First time visit and very impressed! No visible sign for the restaurant-thus the name "Local Peasant" intentional for the neighborhood?! Valet parking for $4 was easy, though there is street parking too. Seated within 10-15 minutes on Friday night and we were able to grab a seat at the bar while we waited. Atmosphere is fun, casual, a little loud. Tables are close together, but cozy. Service was excellent. Wine choice of the night was Chateau St. Jean -- Chardonnay~a little pricey at $10 for a 6.5 litre, but worth it. Appetizers~Blue Cheese Fried Olives and Crab Cakes...heavenly! We shared the Chopped Salad, and the Classic Burger. Love their special sauce for the burger, dressing for the salad was average...wished they had a "ranch" option. We concluded with the Chocolate Chunk Bread Pudding...another heavenly treat! We will definitely go back and likely soon!

I love the fact that the name of the restaurant appears nowhere on the black awning at the front of the building. But the place is always crowded. They have a great selection of beers - the bar takes center stage and always seems to be happening. The food is like really good bar food - varied, tasty, and decent-sized portions. It is really a terrific, casual place to bring family or hang out/meet friends for a relaxing time. I highly recommend it.

I know, you're in town for one night, stuck north of LA and hate chains. The Local Peasant was a great spot, great bar, and great food. I had the beef short ribs which were perfection followed by the local fruit cobbler with ice cream. Simply refreshing local flavor and atmosphere.

Think the title says in all. Don't know if we will be back as that was always the highlight. Please bring them back!

We have been here to eat several times with our 2 1/2 year old and baby. The restaurant is spacious and there is plenty of room to just wheel in the baby in the stroller and pull him up to the table with you. I know that has nothing to do with food, but it is important to us! We love the relaxed atmosphere and consistently good food. Our 2 /12 year old loves the cheese balls and we adults love the gastropub selections and idea that we aren't in some stinky carpeted chain restaurant. We are usually there in off hours so valet parking and seating has never been an issue.

I read about this place in magazine and wanted to check it out with my friends. It has gotten some pretty decent reviews around and it is not an expensive place to go for a nice meal. We went on a Friday night and the place was packed at 8pm. The staff was very helpful and even though we did not have a reservation, they got us seated within a few minutes anyways. Of course we should have made a reservation beforehand. Our own mistake. It is a cool and laid-back restaurant with lots of people and noise. Both in a fun and unfortunately a bit disturbing way. It´s also a bit dark so You might feel a bit off in the beginning. It is a "one-big-room" kind of place, so do not expect to be alone or secluded in any way. But I have to say; The food is really great if You´re not a total snob. they have a nice variety of dishes and meals to choose from and I think everybody will find something they like. It´s a different but pretty cool sett of dishes you can find here. The Menu is created to share and there´s a lot of new recipes on old favorites. They do have a couple of signature dishes and I recommend both the Chicken Sandwich and the Mini Sliders. they really taste good. It´s also fair to say that this type of Cuisine also favors a type of "greasy" or fried kind of food. So be aware if You´re the more Healthy type. They don´t look or feel greasy, but they have been through the frying pan for sure. Our sum up was pretty unanimous; This is a good and nice place for any low key occasion. Thumbs Up!

I am new to the area and received a recommendation to The Local Peasant for the atmosphere, food and beer. The recommendation was spot on! The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I ordered a burger with blue cheese and their thick cut "square" fries; delicious! High quality ingredients, very fresh. I was told the desserts here are also amazing so I asked the bartender for a recommendation and went with the Flu for Nutter. PEOPLE, you need to get here and try this!

Really like the vibe, very cool indoor/outdoor atmosphere, great on a balmy SF Valley evening, great patio, good mix of people, hip crowd for sure. For us, not wild about the menu or food, lots of fried stuff, (not my thing, thanks) salads so so, not one "normal" chicken, (sautéed chicken breast, with veggies would be nice), prices rather high for food and drinks. (glass of wine is $10 plus). I had the ahi nicoise salad which was not bad, but did not like the raw green beans, not even cooked..could have been more creative, but tuna was good. The chicken stew my husband had was just so so, sauce was nothing to speak of, would not order again. It was a birthday and the waiter brought a very nice dessert that was really good and enough for all 5 of us, so that was very nice. Service was good, waiter was good as well, again, love the ambience & vibe, just wish menu had more to offer.

This is a fun place to bring family and friends when they are in town. It has a pretty eclectic atmosphere and menu, and it's a neat idea that it's in the "Speakeasy style", with no signage outside/supposed to be by word of mouth. Please NOTE that there is no signage outside, haha, so if you are coming for the first time, look for a corner building with an outdoor seating area, which I believe has black awnings. I always park on the street, by the way-- I'm not sure they have available parking! They have a ton of craft beers on tap and creative mixed drinks-- watermelon mojito, anyone? Their menu changes a couple times a year it seems. I'm a little sad that a couple good items seem to have gone away, but I've had some tasty items from the current menu. If I have a complaint, it's that the menu is somewhat limited foodwise, if you aren't a huge burger-pub-food-eater (and the items they've gotten rid of were a few healthier options that were delish). Anywho, I still gave them 4 stars so let's list what I like-- The Peasant Pretzel-- GET THIS! I get it Every. Single. Time. It is soooo gooood, you won't regret it. I get it with a side of cheese sauce and mustard. The Mac & Cheese-- made with penne, not macaroni noodles, and real cheese, and bacon if you want it. Was REALLY flavorful. Rainbow Heirloom Salad-- pretty presentation! And the taste doesn't disappoint either. Beets, tomatoes, and cheese. Red Wine Poached Pear Salad-- with blue cheese mousse, watercress, pomegranate, and more. REALLY good and surprisingly filling. All in all, I recommend the place. I can't wait to see what the next menu changes are though.... hopefully they don't git rid of my current faves!

Always looking for a new food adventure, and happy to have found a hidden gem right in the SFV. Hidden, because there's no sign or indication on the outside of the building that it's a restaurant. Being in the marketing business, i found it odd, Maybe they don't need it, as both times I have been to The Local Peasant, it's been packed. The decor is comfortable and yet sophisticated. Lot's of communal tables and an open floor plan leading to the bar. There's also a room in the back for overflow and/or parties. TLP is brimming with great food and local brew. The beer offerings change regularly and feature ales, IPAs, hard cider and other delights. The food is creative and flavorful. For brunch I had pork belly and eggs. For dinner it was a comforting bowl of tomato soup and grilled cheese (4 different kinds melded and melted perfectly). And don't miss the chocolate bread pudding. Only potential drawback is the noise level, but on a warm evening, they open the barn door windows and it's not a problem.

I went to the Local Peasant in Woodland Hills with my family just before Christmas. It was a very pleasant experience. Not a gourmet restaurant but great pub food with some twists. I had an Italian sausage roll with fries and a local Firestone beer. It was served hot with a very nice presentation. My wife had buffalo chicken and zuchinni tenders that were fun and hit the spot We shared an order of peasant balls which were likewise hot and tasty and a perfect match for cold beer. Waiter was a friendly young guy from New York.

I am not a drinker, but I bet the microwaves are a tasty accompaniment to the creative small plates, salads, and ample entrees available here. Someone is an inspired foodie because diverse flavors are combined in ways that bring out the succulence of each dish. I loved the edaname salad which had a mix of long beans and fresh herbs. I would have liked to have seen more green salad options - their chop salad with iceberg was a pale white and hardly had any lettuce at all. The chili with ribeye etc. was filling and tasty. The service was confused but friendly, the setting open and unique, and the prices were quite reasonable!

Great service, fun ambiance and energy, but the food consistently disappoints. This week we tried the queso fundido. I don’t think they know what that is. They serviced a weak milky sauce with embarrassingly little flavor and some kind of grit to it. Generally speaking, it’s tricky to find an entree worth eating here, but it’s a great place to meet friend for drinks. The service is always tops.

The Local Peasant is a good place to grab a bite and a beer and watch sports. I went to dinner with a friend. --Fried chicken sandwich: Delicious, crispy, spicy --Kale Caesar with salmon: Good, could be better. --Brussels sprouts: Good The service was good. The prices are fairly reasonable. On-street parking can be a problem.

This eatery stays open very late for those who like to eat past 9 or 10:00 p.m.. Although it has an outrageously large Bar, the food is very good, even after hours... The menu features a few exotic meals that you rarely find elsewhere, and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I've been going there for the past year and have found the food to be good and consistent.

Went here for dinner with business friend. Salads were very good. Food selection is mainly bar food with burgers pizza and salads. A little bit loud but typical for bar. Some open seating

Stopped in on our recent visit to Malibu on a Sunday night. While the place was about half full, we received excellent service. Well paced, full water glasses and useful menu tips. We had the Local and portobello mushroom burgers with the grown-up Mac and cheese all were well prepared and very tasty!

The Service: No wait time on Monday evening. Great size restaurant. Nice patio seating area. Big bar. Really enjoy the atmosphere. They have special area for big parties. Service is excellent. Our server is very attentive. Give great suggestions on the menu. The busboy cleans out the dirty plate immediately. Very pleasant dinning experience. The Food: Fruili - Strawberry White Ale (super fruity taste but not enough beer taste) Crispy Pork Belly - Pickled watermelon rind, watermelon cubes and sweet & sour tamarind sauce (Interesting combination, pork belly & watermelon. However, big plate but food portion is a bit small) The Peasant Minis - Four mini burgers, slow roasted pulled beef, with spicy carrots, pickled red radish, cabbage and special house sauce (LOVE IT! The beef is juicy, it goes so well with the carrots, radish and cabbage. The house sauce is good!) Prince Edward Island Mussels - Sauteed with roasted tomato, garlic, basil, shaved fennel, in a white wine broth (Love the broth~ I wish I can put some pasta in the broth and clean the plate!)

We had a large group dinner in the back room on a Saturday night. They have a full bar and designated bar tender which made it easy to mingle with our group, rather than having to go back and forth to the main bar. The food was ordered in advance, and they did a good job of bringing out the family style dishes. The atmosphere is fun, lots of energy. Valet parking is $6.00.

Everything is so good don't know where to start. Deviled eggs to die for that bacon on top is crazy good. Also had the pretzel can't go wrong with truffle butter! One of the best burgers around , daughter had a pizza she loved too, and the sangrias were really good too. This is my second time here and will keep coming back its that good and the service is always great. Everyone really friendly.

We had a baby shower for my daughter here on a Saturday afternoon recently. We had 18 guests so I planned it ahead and we chose the menu with the help of their event planner. All of my guests mentioned different items that they were specifically pleased with, but overall the food was excellent. The service was great for the event; food was brought in a timely manner and the wait staff were very friendly, but relaxed. I imagine some people would say the service is slow. I would say it is relaxed and so this would not be the place to go if you are in a hurry. Rather it is a place to go to enjoy your meal and your company. The prices were good also. I had checked many locations for the shower and the Local Peasant was very reasonable for this type of event. This location does have a bar and enclosed patio seating, but since this was not a regular meal for us I didn't really pay attention to those portions of the restaurant. Thanks to all the staff for helping to make my daughter's day so special.

With all the pubs opening you tend to expect the same thing at each one now. Not so for the Local Peasant where they take it up a notch, give you generous helpings and it's always made fresh to your order. The Weekend brunch menu offers unique adds such as brioch French toast, lemon custard pancakes etc. One fun add is the make your own Bloody Mary bar with everything you can imagine.

I've eaten here a few times and its always been a great experience. They make a real old fashioned and its excellent. It's a hard choice between that or one of the creative special drinks they create. Food is creative, seasonal and flavorful. It's loud, but thats a part of the experience.

We to The Local Peasant with a few friends and really enjoyed our casual dining experience. I was visiting from out of town and had questions on their extensive draft beer selection. Our server, Kacey was a huge help with her knowledge. Ordered the chicken sandwich, very happy with the choice. Would strongly recommend for a fun meal!!

OK so, the vibe is more trendy that what you would call a local "pub," but with the excellent craft beer selection I don't know what else to call it. We hop around looking for restaurants that have a relaxed, upbeat environment as well as excellent beer and food. This one is the best around, for sure. I could just eat their onion rings for dinner and I'd be happy happy happy. they are soooooo good! Big, crunchy and full of onion, not bread. They come with an awesome sauce sort of like a thousand island with a kick. ONION RINGS! TDF. I like the sweeter beers and actually discovered my now favorite beer ever there... the strawberry Fruli. My hubby loves other beers, sours, belgaians... etc. and he is super excited about their craft beer selection. Burgers are fabulous, big, juicy and loaded with amazing flavor combinations.Pleasant Burger is more than pleasant. Fish and chip beats anyone else's around because the outside is actually crispy and in the inside is perfectly done. I also love the tuna tartar salad. For me, the portion is just right and the crispy wonton thingys are yummy as is the tartar loaded with avacado, red onion... super yum. OK. We found our favorite local restaurant. It is hard to decide what to eat every time I go. Oh, and they have outdoor seating as well as indoor. : )
Simple, delicious, fun!
I hope I'm reviewing the location I went to... Seems there are 2? We went to the one near Sherman Oaks. The waitress was so friendly and helpful! We ordered tons of stuff and shared and there wasn't anything I didn't like. Loved the deviled eggs, the stew and the edamame salad. Oh, and the giant fries! I also loved my Moscow Mule, but it is their own version of this popular drink. The atmosphere is easy and fun. GO.
