Excellent burger

Great burgers- both the LI burger as well as the ladies burger. Drinks were very good, especially the gimlet!

Chill out time at Long Island Bar

By TS ANAND |

Nice place to enjoy a drink. Had gone there with my cousin. The best part of the Bar is the Glass side facing the Atlantic avenue, could sit there for hours together alone gazing at the crowd on Atlantic Avenue and sipping over the drink. The place gets crowded at night and remains open late. We were there till almost 1pm. Food options are good but not that great, the general bites and nibbles that u find in any bar is available here too. Overall the location and the service was good. The barman just believed in us and did not even take our credit card to put on the tab, this really impressed me. First time in a new place and he/ she dont ask for your card to be put on the tab, never seen it anywhere in USA. I did give him a good tip though. Pretty waitress took good care of our drinks and got me the Whisky in the way we drink in India. Overall a good place to chill out.

Back to the 50s

By Canchita |

A Bar with original 50s furniture and great Cocktails and a good Bar selection. They even have Kölsch. Very mixed people.

Great Cocktails. Great Burger.

Been here a few times for cocktails and food. Never disappoints. The L.I. burger is perfect. Also recommend the Carrot Salad and the Curd Fries. Will be returning.

Stomach pain and nausea

By Micky K |

I entered this place by chance and was initially pleasantly surprised: I got a seat at the bar without having made a reservation. There's no point talking about the prices, but paying $9 for a Kölsch-sized beer is borderline! The burger was actually OK, but at night it turned out that it was probably made of spoiled meat. That shouldn't happen with such high standards and prices! The price for a very small burger with bacon is $26!!! I would definitely avoid this bar, despite the nice bar staff...

You wish it were your local

Stepping decidedly back and present at the same time, The Long Island Bar serves classic cocktails with Brooklyn savvy. It's a place you want to be to soak up the great vibe and people watching. The small menu hits the spot with great fries and elegant execution on simple fare. A great stop with friends or a night on the city.

It's fine but nothing special

By Teahan |

Stopped in after an Islanders game and had a nice burger and good service. The reviews sort of had us prepared for something unique and special. The food was good as was the service but the place itself is nothing special. It was fine

Huge Disappointment

By tippykarp |

Restaurant is in my neighborhood and have heard good things about it so I tried it for dinner. Beer menu was minute and did not have one beer that I was familiar with. My server was completely impersonal and disinterested. Started with a salad which was fine. Ordered their burger which has been written up as one of the best in all of NY. They have to be kidding. Came with two small patties which were both small and fairly tasteless. Fries were burnt. Would not eat here again.

Surprisingly good

We have heard good things about this place, and since we were closed out of other places we came here one Saturday night. There were seats available. Service was friendly and efficient. It really is a bar with some eats. Most of the customers were young. My husband ordered a merguez sandwich, which was a sausage and peppers in merguez sauce on a baguette. He loved it. I ordered the shells and corn entree with lobster, the most expensive item on the menu. It was delicious, topped with toasted truffles and not too heavy on the cheese. I had enough for lunch the next day. We ordered fried buffalo cauliflower, which was ok, but the octopus salad appetizer was amazing, fresh and well seasoned. Of course the wine and beer was great too.

Cool Bar/Restaurant with Local Feel

By Colville-Andersen |

This is a cool place. Great service, drinks and food. We sat at the window and watched Brooklyn go by, all while chatting with friends and enjoying a delicious dinner. The vintage design of the place is cool and retro without being too hipstery.

Great bar for a post dinner drink and more...

By nw05250 |

Popped in for a post dinner drink which we had sitting at the bar and was blown away by the interior and general vibe. Our cocktails were perfect and the mixologist clearly knew what he was doing. Would definitely return.

A great bar with class!

By Sapphire Ed |

This place was closed for quite some time while the new owners did a complete restoration on it. Let me tell you they did a fantastic meticulous job! The place is beautiful right down to the neon and the long restored bar! We have been fortunate enough to stop in on nights when the owner/bartender Toby was tending and you are always in for a good time when he's working behind the bar. My lady and I love martinis and mixed drinks and usually just ask him to make us something good and he has never failed us! I have to say that at the end of the night the bill is always just right for the time we had. Thanks Toby!

Long Island Bar.....Brooklyn

By John B |

Went here with a group of 6 for an after dinner drink. Cool bar. Art Deco interior with neon lights outside. Lots of little table and nooks to hang out at. We sat/stood at the bar. Had some beer/shots and a bombardier. Lots of people were eating. Bartenders friendly. Nice place for a drink, maybe even food. We did not eat

Really nice

Great service from both our waiter and a guy named Oscar. Best panisse ever in NY, highly recommend it. Even better than the one we had in Nice.

Wonderful Art Deco Bar

By BigKevTravels |

What an amazing bar this is. Originally run by an Italian husband and wife team, the place was closed for many years before being reopened by members of the original owners' family. The result is original 1950's Art Deco American Bar down to the leather in the booths. If you're in Brooklyn seek this out. What a gem and still serving great beer and cocktails.

Pre-Oscar Drinks & Bites

By David B |

Came in for a quick bite and adult beverages with my wife, pre-Oscar awards. Cool vibe once inside, wasn’t that crowded or loud, which was nice. We wanted to check this place out for a while, just didn’t have the right time. We like going to Henry Public, but decided let’s check this place out. We shared their fried cheese curds and their burger. Staff was courteous and pleasant. Thanks for the time spent at The Long Island Bar

Great for a pre/post dinner drink

By nw05250 |

Outstanding post dinner drink. Sat at the bar and enjoyed a wonderful few cocktails in this delightful establishment that is packed with atmosphere and great service. Will definitely be re-visiting for a cocktail at some stage.

Very nice bar with friendly people

By Luk |

It was my first time in NYC and we were staying in Brooklyn Heights. This bar was very close and recommended by the people with whom we were staying. We went there for a couple of drinks. The waitresses were very friendly and there was a very good and relaxed atmosphere all around. Later that week we actually went back because we liked it so much. We also had some snacks but they were nothing special. The toilets could have been a tad cleaner too. But these are all minor points. All around very enjoyable!

A Great Neighborhood Bar

By Ed T |

This bar which reminds us of a classic diner from the past but this one does everything right. On a Wednesday night, open for business at 5 PM, it's packed 15 mins after opening. It seems like a neighborhood place where people go for solid cocktails and a small but very tight menu. The cocktails are pretty much perfectly executed examples of what a excellent drink should be, from classics to their list of specialty cocktails. Their wine and beer selection is small but serviceable. The food menu is small and limited in selection, what they do offer is executed perfectly. The cheese curds are a must order to accompany cocktails and even standards like burgers, chicken sandwiches are great and the trout filet is a must try. Their fries are crispy and plentiful. Service is friendly, efficient and attentive. For some reason, the patrons just seems happy to be here which makes for a enjoyable and relaxing experience and in all likelihood why many of the patrons are regulars.

Rude bar manager in the wrong job.

By The G |

Wouldnt recommend. On Holiday with friends to experience new york city for new years. walked in to a bad smell 🐟 and a very rude bar manager who didnt make us feel welcome at all. couldnt wait to finish our drinks and leave.

Fantastic

By Amber Jane L |

It is still the original diner interior (which is amazing) but the food is anything but your normal diner food. It has a very small menu but everything on it is delicious! There is a burger but the salads and other items are what I recommend you try! Especially the trout and the kale salad. If you're not hungry then you should go for the cocktails and the atmosphere.

Fantastic Cocktails!

By Nicole H |

The drinks are great!! The owners are great bartenders and have come up with a fantastic drink menu. The food is upscale bar food.

Great food and drinks in a classic Brooklyn location.

By amfzurich |

I wish I had a spot like this where I live. The ambience is relaxed and casual, and the food and drinks are great. Never had better "bar food" -- fresh, tasty and inventive. And the bartenders really know their stuff. All-in-all it's a great place to eat, drink and hang-out.

Look no further

By BJ F |

If you enjoy EXCELLENT cocktails with out of the ordinary bar food, stop in to the Long Island Bar. Tony Checchini is in a league of his own, and the other bartenders are all outstanding. I recommend engaging the staff at the bar in discussions about their choice of gin or other liquor used specifically in the cocktails they make. - lots of fun!!

Excellent bar - a way of life!

By pete t |

Brilliant bar with original features and modern eclectic bar list. We just went in for a drink but were not disappointed, my White Negroni was excellent. Special mention regarding the decor. All original decor from around 1950. Without sounding pretentious- post Art deco?

Amazing Exp

No Dancing?

By MI6Reviewer |

At first glance this bar runs closely to the line of dive bar, and kinda looks like a diner. However, the prices and the vibe don't match the dive bar scene. No Dancing? Very strange to have a neon sign in a prominent position letting everyone know they can't dance; there must be a story behind it. It definitely has a LI feel and the cocktails were actually pretty good. Although we didn't eat, the burger did look amazing and the guys next to us said it was the best burger in Brooklyn. Bold claim I know.

Great Brooklyn Bar

By Beeches |

Called at this Brooklyn Heights bar on a sunny Sunday lunchtime. From the outside it doesn't look anything special but inside the art deco interior is really nice, and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. It's pretty much a bar & diner rather than a restaurant, so the menu was limited, but I tried the carrot salad which was superb. Small range of craft beers, nice selection of wines, and huge selection of cocktails; tequila seems to be a speciality (never seen such a variety on offer). Service was very efficient, and bartender very friendly. Highly recommended for a relaxed, informal lunch and drinks

Relaxxxxxxxxxxed Vibe

By Stan Tecza |

Very relaxed vibe with nice music in this place. The space is 1940s gorgeous. Cheeseburger was above average. Drinks were the improved penedennis club and the Erin. Both enjoyable.
