Great restaurant, totally unique!

By Bill38360 |

We have visited The Melting Pot several times before and are always impressed. This visit was no different. We ordered 4-course fondue dinner and all food was excellent. Prepare to spend a couple of hours for dinner and enjoy the experience. Service was outstanding. The only possible negative is that it can be a bit pricy. Great for special occasions.

Blown away!

By Kori D |

My husband and I celebrated my birthday here, and this was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The atmosphere is really romantic. It is dim, and you don't have another table on top of you which is really nice. Our server was Justin and he was fantastic. He was very informative, funny, attentive and all around a great server. I also received a birthday card signed by the entire staff, free half dozen chocolate dipped strawberries, and a framed photo. My hubby bought me flowers which was a really nice touch. We both ordered off of the four course menu and everything was delicious. The flaming mexican chocolate was mind blowing. We both really enjoyed our time here, and appreciate the thoughtfulness of the staff. We will definitely be back. This will be our new special occasion spot... and our 'I need a chocolate fix' spot.

Melting Pot Experience

Fun and friendly atmosphere. Could also be a romantic place to celebrate. The staff was very accommodating and explained how the menu and choices work in detail. Love this place! Will continue going there.

Just amazing

By Laura D |

I just loved it. As this was our first time, we asked for the four course. Of course, it was A LOT and none of us could finish it but we had to try everything to find out what we like for a future ocassion. Laney, our waitress, was exceptionally good, the food was delicious and I loved the place and the experience. Would definitely go back.

A yum and fun night out

By Coltonvic |

We went here for a family dinner and it was a lot of fun. The cheese and dessert chocolate fondues were the highlights for us and we stuck to those. Our waiter was great and happy to bring more crudites and bread for dipping. Highly recommend this place for something a little different and fun for all the family

Love them!

We've been going to the Melting Pot for years and absolutely love it. Even the Colorado Springs location, very romantic set up with the curtains in the booths. We love their food -- especially the cheese and dessert fondue. We don't venture out that often and try other things here because we find it hard to deviate from our usual... Swiss cheese fondue, entree and the smores dessert. My only criticism is the salad that comes with dinner ends up being too much food. I always ask for it to be boxed up. I love how they offer monthly special dinners like girls night out or Daddy daughter dinner, etc. This is by far our favorite place to go for Valentines dinner.

Fun but rushed and expensive

By Peggy H |

We went on a Saturday night to celebrate our daughter's 12th birthday. We had to wait 25 minutes for our reservation. Then we sat down and even though we told the waiter we had never been there before, we felt rushed to place our order right then before we could even order drinks or review the menu. Food was fine. With kids I would just go for cheese fondue and dessert and not worry about an entree which they didn't love and cost a lot. They only let my kids split an entree not the adults.

Girls night out.

By LIETIE |

The service and food were excellent. We went for a ladies night out. Cocktails and dinner followed by the yummiest dessert. We had a large group and the staff was very accommodating and pleasant.

Wonderful atmosphere great food but poor service

By samlongs86 |

I enjoyed the overall experience as usual but our waiter Haron was very rude and impatient with our guest who had never dined at the melting pot we had a party of 12 and all agreed it was very rude

Food and server was great!!!! The manager did not set up the tables for 9 people like previously planned with the restaurant planners. Food was easy & great tasting.

Good but I can do this at home

By Mona A |

We went during happy hour on our anniversary. I had read read many reviews here & other sites & most everyone said that the cheese & chocolate were the best parts plus we were still full from our steak lunch. We sat in a booth near the bar and decided to order a few drinks first. I had the Fiery Pineapple Margarita with a spicy-sugar rim. It is my new favorite. Husband got a Jackberry Smash, he thought it was a little strong. Then I got the Tipsy Turtle. Good but too sweet for me. He then got a Caramel Apple Martini made with rum instead of Vodka. It's the drink he makes at home so he loved it. I liked the caramel swirls & apple slice drizzled with caramel floating in it. For the cheese, we chose the Alpine & it was good but I've made this type at home before & it was still a little grainy & not smooth like I thought it would be. Still, it was good & we ate it up. The best dippers were the white bread & the cauliflower. For our chocolate, we ordered the turtle one. It was good however she brought it from the back in a bowl all cold & set it inside the fondue pot so we had to wait a good 10 minutes for it to heat up. It was good but it didn't have a really rich chocolate flavor. It reminded me a lot like Hershey's chocolate syrup. I also remembered a slice of cheesecake in some of the reviews so I asked her about it & she yes, they have cheesecake & she'll bring us some. I thought it would have been part of the dessert dippers. The best dippers for chocolate were the bananas and the chocolate chip bars. The hostess asked if we were here for a special occasion so I figured we'd get a freebie or something. It turned out to be our chocolate dippers on a Happy Anniversary plate. I didn't find that very special but overall I was having a good time with my man and the drinks had kicked in by then. I liked the place but I honestly don't think I'd come again. Sign up for the club on thier website. If you spend over $60, you get a little box of 6 chocolate covered strawberries.

A great place to celebrate, meet, or just get together with friends

Dear Foodie readers, have you been back to the melting pot…you won’t believe it, but it’s been 16 years since I have gone…and I don’t know why it took me so long…it’s fun, delicious, and great service. It’s been remodeled, it’s much brighter, it used to be darker woods, so now it has a modern feel to it. We were celebrating our anniversary, and took our kids, they were extremely excited to try it all. We sipped, dipped, and enjoyed every bite. The meats were excellent, we got the surf and turf combo…next time I would only order the turf lol, the salmon was hard to control, then we would have to fish them out of the pot…the kids actually enjoyed that part =) The kids were ready to go back for more!

Fun for a change

The Melting Pot is fun for a change. The food is good and the service was impeccable although it does seem overpriced to me. The desert is definitely the best part!

Beyond my expectations!

By rafael_perez3 |

The staff at The Melting Pot did an excellent job in setting up the request I asked for my date and I (she loved it). The service was excellent, the bartenders were excellent as well and we loved every single minute we spent there. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience

Special Fairytale Fondue Princess Dinner

By Quiltlady0000 |

Went to The Melting Pot for a Princess dinner. Reservations were required. There were two Disney princesses present to take pictures and visit with. We chose the cheese fondue and had bread and vegetables, and apple with it. It was very tasty. We then cooked our own meats, which were tender cuts of beef and chicken, as well as, shrimp and assorted veggies. Last was our choice of chocolate fondue with plenty of dippers, pound cake, fruit, Rice Krispie treats and brownies. We enjoyed our visit! The food was great! Be ready to drop a big bunch of cash!!

Romantic and Delicious

By S&B Adventure Team |

This is my very favorite restaurant, we visit a Melting Pot in whatever state we are in for my birthday. This birthday we are in Houston, Texas. The service was awesome. We are all trying to get use to the current Coronavirus restrictions, but they made it seemless. Other than less tables being used and the waiter wearing a mask, we would have thought it was any normal day. My boyfriend called ahead of time and had them decorate the table. The table had rose pedals on it, a rose, chocolates (white chocolates for me since I don't like regular chocolate - I know I'm weird. LOL), and a teddy bear. The hostess took our picture and framed it, to add to our collection of yearly Melting Pot birthdays. Yes, this is all an extra charge, but a great way to make a birthday special for your loved one. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. The food, as usual, was delicious. For those that have not been to a fondue restaurant before - it isn't all just cheese. You pick a 4 course meal. You start with the cheese and veggies/bread (my favorite is the Wisconsin cheese), then move to the salad, then to the main course of meats and veggies (may favorite is the mojo - you pick your meats, which they cut into pieces and you boil them in the broth you picked. Remember that you can ask for more veggies, I do this as soon as they bring the broth so I can put them all in the pot since they take the longest to cook), and you finish with desert of chocolate, fruit, and treats. You can choose from milk, dark, or white chocolates. I don't like anything but white chocolate, so I always get white chocolate with Amaretto. Yum! Just remember to dress nice, expect to be there for about 2 hours, and expect a bill for over $100 for two people... Alcoholic drinks will make the ticket even more expensive. A heavy ticket, but so worth the experience and food. Bring your best partner and enjoy!

Gross gross gross

By Jackie120908castelan |

My husband and I have gone to the Melting Pot for over 7 years, every birthday, anniversary, mothers day, even most date nights. California salads were my favorite, every visit consisted of ordering 3 salads to go. It's was my favorite restaurant... Until today. Got to the bottom of my drink to find TRASH IN MY ICE! Words don't even begin to describe the level of disgust. Even worse than that, the manager (I believe Michael was his name) came by and danced around a lot of excuses of how he doesn't see how that was possible...SERIOUSLY?? Trash in the middle of my ice?? Never once did he even say he was sorry, only reiterating that the trash cans weren't even close to the ice in the kitchen! That part was probably the most disappointing part, not even an apology. We will NEVER be back after that! When I asked him to check the ice machines or bins bc the trash obviously came from somewhere he said they were fine, without even checking (or even saying he would look into it)! So DISGUSTED and upset by the management response.

Gideon made all the difference in our experience

By Scuba_Lady_TH |

Our group of 5 visited on a rainy Sunday afternoon and were promptly seated without a reservation. Gideon, our server, welcomed us and patiently answered all our questions as most of us were from out of town. She made recommendations based on our tastes as we were unsure regarding sauces. Since they were not offering brunch, she asked the manager if two of our group could have the bottomless mimosas (the answer was yes)! We felt the pacing of the different courses was spot on - never too fast or too slow. The value for the price was great as this was our big meal of the day. Gideon made us feel special with her suggestions and we loved that we could talk and laugh while enjoying our food.

So much fondue

Great date night spot! We tried the 4 course meal last night and really enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend the garlic and herb quartet cheese and the chocolate s'mores for dessert!

Awesome and worth every penny!

Have been to many melting pots and I’ve always received excellent service and food! If you want to know what heaven’s kitchen smells like go here!

Wonderful experience

My favorite waiter is Tony hands down. He's so patient and knows exactly what he's talking about. The place is phenomenal hands down a day every time I've visited it's been amazing. I love their chocolate martinis

Sour service and Smaller Portions

By Tom W |

We came to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was night and day between our last visit. The local magazine had a coupon for the Classic Meal $37. As soon as our server, Ezra, saw it, his attitude completely changed. If you do not want people to use a coupon, don't put it in the paper. Ezra hardly explained the different dipping sauces, of which one was new. Most servers at the Melting Pot explain which sauce goes well with each meat. There was 3 at our table. When he brought the check, he gave us 2 mints. He knew. That is just plain sorry on his part. I hate when waiters gave you crappy service, because they don't think you are ringing up a big enough tab and thus a huge tip for them. Buddy, provide good service, and you will get a good tip. I noticed the portion size for the cheese fondue and dessert fondue was noticeably smaller this time. One way to inflate is to give people less for their money. The meal was good. We enjoy the food. It will be a long while before we return

Love it

By Brandi B |

Been here several times and love it each time. The cheese appetizer is great and they'll bring extra bread, love the experience of cooking our own meat. The kids love to play a part in it. The dessert is the best. I leave saying we should just come for dessert sometimes because we are so full when chocolate arrives it's hard to enjoy....but we do!

Great family time

By T1007MXmjh |

The reception was smiling and cordial. They located my reservation. I arrived 3 thirty minutes early. They were able to seat the family within two minutes. The waiter was friendly. The drinks arrived while we were deciding what to order. The quality of food was terrific. Thank you

Great place but not for large parties

By darkmusze |

Went here for a friend's birthday dinner. The dinning experience was very unique. Three course meal started with a cheese fondue. The Choice we had on our side was spinach cheese fondue. The other side had loaded bake potatoes. The main course was shrimp, chicken, beef and vegatables all dipped with skewers in vegetable broth aND another pot with Canola oil and tempura to Fry.. for dessert we had the Ying and yang which was a mixture of dark chocolate and white chocolate. Dipping items were strawberries bananas brownies graham cracker covered marshmallows aND cheesecake! The only issue I had is the party was either too big or the table was way to small. We barely had wiggle room. I will go back with just me and the wife to give it another chance

Birthday Celebration

By 3gatos |

Our table of seven ate here late on a Sunday evening for a birthday celebration. Our server was Tre and Tre was really great. Fun, engaging and knowledgeable-- which honestly, is what you want with a server especially for a birthday! We had three pots going at all times and we couldn't have been more happy with our selections, the presentation of the food or our attentive server. It's hard to please a table of seven, but Tre came in on top. He recommended his favorite dishes, naturally had an idea of what the majority of his tables enjoy and even brought out a birthday card for the birthday girl. I've been to Switzerland and have had both fondue and raclette while there and honestly, while it's not exactly comparable, it will certainly suffice in the US! I don't know if I can say anything about The Melting Pot in Houston that hasn't been said. :) Maybe ~ if you've never been here, try it once simply for the experience!

1st Time

By Chun06 |

We tried the Melting Pot on a Wednesday night. Our reservation was for 7pm. The greeters were nice and courteous. Our waiter was Tia. She explained everything. She made our Anniversary and 1st experience with Melting Pot memorable. We tried the bake potatoe fondue, strawberry caprese salad, Lobster, filet mignon, dry rub pork, and orange duck. Everything was delicious. We ordered a bottle of Moscato Di Asti. Our bill was around $160. Kinda Pricey but Great experience, I definitely recommend. Everyone we encountered was courteous.

This is the place for a CELEBRATION!

By MaltaBound |

We went here for a 18th birthday dinner, and couldn't be more pleased. The experience lasted 2 1/2 hours. The dinner included two types of cheese fondue (a baked potato and a multiple-cheese with bacon jalapeño), different veggies, breads, and fruit to dip, followed by a dinner salad, then a course consisting of a meat platter with filet mignon, marinated sirloin, Pacific shrimp, chicken breast, and stuffed wild mushroom Sacchetti. The climax was a dessert platter with what seemed like 10 different dessert items to dip in both flaming turtle chocolate and dark/white chocolate. We were full when we left. Service was impeccable, it was a perfect evening! Prices we felt were reasonable for what we received. NOTEWORTHY: A BIG thanks to management that cemented our relationship with this restaurant...we personally saw the manager, Michael, buy a first-responder his meal. The policeman had been working Hurricane Harvey for days on end. It's good to see a restaurant taking care of those who took care of us. We will certainly return! This is the place to go for a non-rushed, interactive, and delectable experience!

Family and friends celebrating Graduation

By mjr0108 |

We took my daughter, her fiancé and her fiancée family out to celebrate completing her Masters degree. What a great place, a gem tucked away. The food was fresh, the fondue was prepared right in front of us and it was just a great 3 hours of fun, good food, great service and company. Would definitely go back. It is not cheap and you come away full!

Yum

By AR-BRAY |

The fondue appatizers are awesome. My kids were not fans but my husband and I loves it. It's a more grown up taste and less a queso taste like the kids expect. The restaurant is cozy. The staff did a fine job. I will saw the menu is pricey. Don't plan to get out under 100.00 for 3 people. The dessert fondue is the highlight of the menu. We did cookies and cream. It was awesome.

Not what they used to be

By davidkB2781QV |

Because we typically spend $250+ when we go the Melting Pot, we save it for very special occasions. That, coupled with COVID, means we haven't been for a few years. First, we were very disappointed to learn that the cheese fondue isn't made at the table anymore. As such, the food wasn't anywhere near as fresh as it used to be. It tasted like the cheese fondue is made in big tubs back in the kitchen, scooped into the pot, and then brought out to the table. Our cheese was cold so that you could tell it had not been made fresh. Second, the portions were way too small. The basic pot was listed for two people; we ordered a pot for three people. What was brought to our table was half the portion size that used to be served. While I understand food prices are up, etc., the cost of the meal vs. the quality and portion size results in the Melting Pot being an extremely low value restaurant experience. Not sure we'll be back.

A Dining Experience

Unique and Fun For Sharing

By EWR |

We visited here on a Saturday to celebrate my Daughter's birthday. Each table for five or more people has two table burners and stainless steel pots for melting your appetizer and dinner picks. Each person picks a and dinner assortment, salad and dessert. Then each group of four picks a cheese and marinade for their pot. This is a fondue restaurant which is unique unto itself. Not since the 70's have I seen a fondue restaurant. It offers a unique and entertaining way to celebrate a special occasion with friends, or just try a different way of dining out together. While our waiter was very professional and courteous, we witnessed a couple of other waiters who were not quite as polished with their approach. The men's restroom also needed some upkeep. They do have a great bar here as well, for having a drink while waiting for a table. I highly suggest that you make reservations. They get quite packed here on the weekends. The lighting is perfectly subdued, and fondue choices are all super, the mixed drinks are perfect, and the wine list is varied. Everyone at our table had a wonderful time, especially my Daughter. Be forewarned however; dinners here are leisurely and lengthy. We've been here three times now, and never left under a 2.5 hr stay. It's a place where you take your time and savor each course.

Our special occasion restaurant!

We've been dining at The Melting Pot since they first opened in Houston and we love it. The service is always wonderful and they are willing to accommodate almost any special request, especially if given advance notice.

By far my favorite restaurant

By betty f |

This is by far my favorite restaurant to go and celebrate special occasions. The service is always great. The food is incredibly tasty. You can come and spend 3 hours there having dinner and no one will bother you or pressure you to leave. We come every year for our anniversary and many times for birthdays.

Great experience

By Traveler mom |

This place is a must in your trip to Houston. It is a perfect place for a delicious dining experience. Food is great. It consists of four courses: cheese fondue, salad, entree and chocolate fondue. You get the chance to cook your meal yourself on the table. Every time we go we get a great experience. Very friendly service. We go every Valentine Day’s dinner and on our anniversary. Today, we took our son to celebrate his 4th birthday. It is not really a kid friendly place especially because the table has a stove on it, but it was doable. Highly recommended. ( pictures are from September visit and valentine day dinner).

4 courses in about 1.5 hrs

By UHcougarBdaygirl |

Walked in for my open table reservation. It was slow and the hostess was on the phone. The seater and hostess had a brief conversation before actually seating us. We had mentioned to our server that we were in a rush and he was receptive to our needs. I'm not all about the show and I could have done without his explanation of each item he was mixing into our cheese course nor our main course. I mean I read the menu and ordered what I wanted so just put it in the pot. The manager michael had stopped by the table to introduce himself. Nice touch. Not really sure if is go back again, but at least it wasn't the worst service.

Great food, Great service, Gluten free goods....

By Txfamily8 |

My daughter and I ran in here on a Saturday night just hoping to get seated! The young lady at the front desk let us know that we could not do a full course meal but could do the smaller version meal and dessert. That was fine with us! Our server was wonderful and they had gluten free bread for dipping! It was pretty good bread too! The dessert had a gluten free brownie and fruit for dipping - all fabulous! The manager seemed to go around introducing himself to the patrons and did so with us also. He asked me if I needed more tea and I said yes. I expected the server to bring it back but the manager got my tea and brought it to me! Great guy! On our way out the door he said goodnight to my daughter and I by name. I was duly impressed :) I was very impressed with the food and service and plan on going back - hopefully soon!

Birthday Celebration!

By stacey f |

I have been to the Melting Pot a few times. It is such a unique experience. It is a bit pricey. This time we went for the full 4 course meal plus I had a Tipsy Turtle which was so good, it tasted like a Mai Tai. I could easily skip the main entree and be happy with salad, cheese and chocolate. On the entree my favorite was the shrimp. It seemed to soak up the flavor of the broth. Chicken was pretty good too, although I was paranoid I hadn't cooked it long enough when I took a bite and it felt rubbery. The beef didn't really gain any flavor from the cooking style. We also got the Wisconsin cheese which is my favorite. For dessert we picked the Chocolate Turtle.

Terrible service

By paige b |

It was my daughters bday dinner. Upon arriving, we asked the waitress if we could be out in an hour and 15 minutes. She said no problem. 60 minutes later we were still waiting for the oil for our meat to heat up. After waiting longer, she came by and turned up the heat. We absolutely had to go after eating about 1/4 of our meat. Another 1/4 of it was completely ruined because it was raw because of the low temperature of the oil- and we waited a very long time for it to heat up before we even tried to cook it. We asked the waitress if we could get a rain check for the dessert for the full experience instead of packing it up. The only reason my daughter wanted to come was for the dessert fondue. She said she would pack it to go. I reminded her that my daughter was allergic to peanuts and please separate everything that not only included peanuts, but that was made in a peanut facility into a different box. They do this for us on separate plates On a regular basis. I had alerted her to my daughters allergy when we sat down, and explained what they usually do for us. So after explaining twice the allergy protocol, waiting another 10 minutes and now being really late, she came out with the dessert dippers all mixed up in two containers. I told her that we couldn't use these because everything was now contaminated and she assured me there was no risk of peanuts in anything. I said that's not what I've been told here before. She again assured me there was no risk of peanuts. Now we are very late, but I made sure to tell the manager what had happened. He said he would make a note on our open table account and give us free dessert next time. I did not adequately explain to him that no one really ate their entree either, so I don't think he understood that our whole dinner was ruined. But honestly, for a child to have to take her birthday dessert to go and then not even been able to eat it, I think the least they could have done is comped the meal.

Less than hoped for

Spoiled I am would say Yoda.... Having standards set 40+ years ago in Chicago @ GEJA'S this was a fail. Prices were high, the ambiance was missing, the portions small. Last time ever at a Melting Pot. Need to head to Chicago!

Fun evening out for families with older kids

By Debby W |

We went to this Melting Pot for my birthday dinner. Our older kids (not sure how it works with very young ones) love 'cooking' their food. The communal nature of the dining prevents the overuse of the phone/electronics as we were always engaged with the cooking and one another. The service was fantastic as always and the server made a very good suggestion regarding wine and even bagged the leftover wine so we could take it home The food itself was fairly good. Some selections are better than others. The cheddar cheese appetizer is a must. And we really prefer the court bullion to the more traditional oil. I do tend to avoid the seasoned meats like the Memphis BBQ pork medallions. It all works better when the protein is a blank slate. And you just can't go wrong with any of the chocolate desserts!

Great

By BriBri9890 |

Our melting pots in Louisiana closed down and so I searched high and low to find another close enough to go to. I found this one in Houston and we decided to make it a weekend trip for my sisters birthday so I quickly secured us a reservation. We arrived a few minutes early but our table ended up not being ready until about 20 mins after it was supposed to. The manager apologized and comped our first round of drinks. When we made it to our table both of our wait staff made sure we were very well taken care of and made sure to check on us regularly. The food was amazing and the experience was even better than we remembered. Making the drive was well worth it and I’m sure we will go back again. We have family in the area so we can always visit!!!

Prepare for an awesome experience

Great place for something different in your food experience. The waiter took time to explain how the process works and helped us decide the choice of meats, veggies and cooking method to use. Certainly the name The Melting Pot is just that. Be prepared for a nice experience.

Special occasion celebration

By KarenR403 |

This is a great place for a special celebration. Our waiter, Michael, was attentive and humorous. We love the classic cheese fondue, the bourgeoisie (oil) style cooking and the lovely chocolate and peanut butter fondue with extra brownies. The Melting Pot creates a great experience, so give yourself enough time to enjoy it to the fullest. Worth the drive.

Birthday party success

By nana1003 |

Had birthday party for grandaughters and some of their friends. Had made 7:00 reservation and arrived early. Tables not ready until nearly 7:35. Girls were so hungry !!!!Staff could not help the wait time, but were nice enough to bring some pretzels and gave them drinks. Finally seated the food did not disappoint. Baked potato cheese was amazing with lots of bread and veggies to dip. Entree course had shrimp, filet mignon, chicken and teriyaki beef. Our server was so sweet and she went over the process well. Dessert was chocolate turtle and it was divine--pound cake , blondies, marshmallows and fruit. As a comp for the long wait, they gave the girls framed pics of the group . I recommend this place --Sweet 16 package was great. Service is wonderful --you can tell the staff loves their job.

excellent service-average food

By TAMAN1951 |

Concept is great and seems like it could be fun. Service was warm, friendly and our server Herron was very personable and made the outing quite enjoyable. The cheese fondue was nice. The entree was another story. The meat tasted a little funny and we had a lot of gristle in what was supposed to be a filet. The chicken pot stickers were much better. Fairly low quality given the price paid. The cost was fairly high at $40 per person with no alcohol, no salad and no desert. Better deals can be found in Houston.

Love the desserts !

We enjoy The Melting Pot for family celebrations. We can count on good food, with plenty of fun tasting all the different flavors.

Always a five

By Astoria1960 |

We come to Houston's Melting Pot usually 2-3 times a year and have for many years, actually always asking for Lessin or Paul. LOVE the ambience, the food and the wonderful service, don't ever get this pampered. Your staff is always on top of it. Again, Lessin (whom I know is now in Newport Beach) and Paul....always very professional, caring, funny at times and a pleasure to deal with. Food is always very good, honestly if it were up to me I would eat two California salads (please leave this on your menu always) and then the dark chocolate fondue with lots and lots of strawberries.

Quiet romantic spot to take the wife

This is perfect for taking the date and enjoying the awesome presentation with the fondue and perfect romantic atmosphere. I was surprised when I realized I had to basically cook the food myself at the table but it turned out to be a lot of fun to try.

We had a fabulous dinner for our sons 9th birthday. He chooses to eat here every year and we've never been disappointed. The service and food is always top knotch.

Always fun

By Tracy C |

My family and I have eaten at this particular Melting Pot location several times, but last night is the subject of this particular review. First, the experience is very consistent, which is nice if you're familiar with the fondue concept. They've updated their menu, and the changes are very nice. The prices seem high until you realize the amount of food you receive and the unique environment and typical length of a four-course fondue meal. Our visit last night was to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday, and about 5 minutes into our entrees, she fell ill and left to sit in our car so my wife and I could finish our meal. Since we didn't want her to miss the dessert fondue, we asked our server if we could get a raincheck for the dessert. He was fairly new, so he wasn't sure, but asked the manager who gladly gave us two complimentary fondue certificates, each of which is good for two people, so we effectively got a free dessert. Certainly not expected, but it is this level of service that makes every time we go to The Melting Pot such a wonderful experience.

Perfect Anniversary

By Lee R |

Every year my husband and I eat at the Melting Pot for our Anniversary. This year, our anniversary coincided with one of the biggest Saints games this season. I asked when making my reservation if they could sit us in the bar so we can watch the game while we dine, they happily fulfilled our requests. I was thinking it wouldn't be as "romantic", since it is the bar, however we still had a private booth, excellent view of the tv, and it was perfect. They were able to meet and exceed every single request. We truly enjoyed the food, drinks, and service, and will continue to recommend this place to our friends, family, and clients.

Delicious!

By Heather C |

Went to the Melting Pot for the first time in July for my birthday and I liked it so much I went back about a month later for a date night. It is a bit pricey if you get a full meal, but the experience for all of the course is well worth it for a special occasion. The atmosphere is fun and offers a unique dining experience if you're looking for something different.

Birthday dinner July 17 , 2017

By fslone |

Dinner for my sons birthday and he brought a friend so there were three of us. This was not out first time so we already knew how things worked. We all had the big night out. First course was cheese fondue, before i could tell the waitress light on the garlic she had already dumped it in, she offered to fish some out but we just went with the flow, she was moving really fast. It was good but we felt rushed as the pot was only half empty when we were already being asked if they could clear things away. I explained to her we were not in a hurry as i had not seen my son in several months. We also enjoyed the salad course, especially the strawberry caprese, for the entree we just got the boullion that comes with it to cook things in and once again we felt really rushed as we had barely taken the first bite of meat when we were being asked to stop and look at the chocolate fondue menu.. i told her to just leave it but after the third time within five minutes of coming back to ask if we had decided i just stopped everything, looked at the menu and ordered. we still had meat in the fondue pot when someone came to start clearing the dishes and i had to tell them we were not finished yet. so next was the chocolate and we were really having a good time eating and talking and had finished about half of it when the waitress came and asked if we would like to have the rest boxed up to take with us. It became obvious they wanted out table for another customer before the night was over . In conclusion, I will be back as we like this place for special occasions but i specifically chose it because of the leisurely service we had in the past. Other than feeling really rushed this time i will be back soon for their happy hour which sounded good.

Great concept and amazing service

By Traveler K |

Our third time at the melting pot, the food is always good but what makes the dinning experience great is thr service. Those guys are really knowledgeable about the menu and all ingredients. Great for family and kids. It feel like your cooking your own meal at home. Restaurant week menu was great.

Went to The Melting Pot for our anniversary. Marc was our server and was absolutely amazing. Dinner itself was good as usual, but the service really out the dinner over the top.

A fun place to enjoy friends

By Michele B |

I will say we had a good time and it was expensive. There were 7 of us, 4 being children and the ticket was about 350.00 The servings are small when it comes to the meat. Fondue fun. We had never been and our server was not clean on how to order. The value is a fine dinning price for an average atmosphere.

Amazing Service

By Marlo808 |

I couldn't be happier with the service and food experience here. Everything was perfect. From the entrance greeting to the superb service our server provided. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to impress their loved one and make them feel special. the booths are very intimate and the ambiance gives off romance. great place

Fondue perfection

Every experience at The Melting Pot is perfect. The quality of service, the quality of the food and the atmosphere from the time you sit down until until your very last fight and everything in between it is absolutely the perfect dining experience.

Fine Fondue place to eat with friends.

By Gordon S |

Met friends at The Melting Pot in part as a thank you for helping during the Harvey flooding. While expensive, we dined in a relaxed, atmosphere; we were not rushed, as though the expectations were for us to take our time. We did. Got started at 6:00 and finished about 9:30. The multi-course meal we very good. Cheese fondue, salad, main course, and chocolate.

Good food. Restaurant needs a facelift.

By Aidner |

I went to Melting Pot with my wife to celebrate our 29th anniversary. My daughter had already been there and had recommended the restaurant for special occasions, since it is too expensive for everyday dining. We have made reservations, arrived 15 minutes early but we were seated right away. Our kind waiter explained our options very thoroughly and we have decided for the 4-course experience. I have picked a Chianti wine which has arrived at the table a little colder than expected, nothing that could not be solved with a brief warm hand’s rubbing. Everything was very good and the amount of food has surprised us: more than enough for two people. Cheese fondue was done right and house salad was fresh. As individual entrées I have selected the Classic combination and my better half got the Land & Sea. We cannot complaint about anything as far as quality of the selected ingredients goes. Seasoning was very well balanced. So, if everything was almost perfect, why four stars instead of five? Just because for the price we paid we could have gone for one of the several upscale steakhouses in the Houston area which are very well decorated, some of them with gardens, fountains and beautiful paints in the walls. In other words: the food is very good but this old restaurant needs a facelift to keep up with the price we have paid. A celebration as important as ours deserved a fancier place…

Delicious Anniversary Dinner

By Greg M |

This was my second time to visit the Melting Pot, and I appreciate the consistently excellent service and menu choices. On this occasion, I was celebrating my 13th wedding anniversary. We chose the Wisconsin Trio cheese fondue, the Surf and Turf main course, and the Bananas Foster dessert fondue. Our server was Tony, and he was very attentive to our special requests. Dinner started with the cheese fondue. We took turns dipping pieces of bread and fruit into a delicious combination of Wisconsin cheeses. This was followed by the salads and then the main course. Surf and Turf is comprised of several pieces of chicken, filet mignon, shrimp, red potatoes, broccoli, and mushroom caps. Each piece of meat was first dipped in either a sesame batter or a tempura batter and then heated in the cooking oil. Dipping sauces for the meat included Yogurt Gorgonzola, Ginger Plum, Teriyaki, Green Goddess, and Curry Sesame. Keep in mind that the fondue pot used for each course of the dinner was located over two feet away from our places at the table and that each skewer is about 18 inches long. In other words, there is no need to worry about steam burns or problems with the bubbling oil. As long as the meat was cooked according to the recommendation durations (1.5 minutes for beef, 2 minutes for shrimp, and 2.5 minutes for chicken), we were assured of getting a delicious morsel of fondue heaven!!! The final course was a Bananas Foster fondue, which came with Rice Krispies bites, Oreo dusted marshmallows, strawberries, and cheesecake. As previously stated, Tony was our food server, and he was especially attentive to the special heating requirements of the cheese sauce, the vegetable oil, and the dessert sauce. This is probably the most important responsibility of the food server. In other words, oil that is too hot will smoke an bubble uncontrollably. It’s the server's responsibility to regulate the cooking temperatures, and Tony performed his functions marvelously in this regard. This restaurant is highly recommended, but allow at least 2 to 2.5 hours for the cheese fondue, the salads, the meat fondue, and the dessert fondue.

Date Night

This was a great date night with my husband, gave us a chance to talk and spend time together while we spent time together. Good food and Good service!

Fondue Well Done

By Vic777_12 |

The Melting Pot execs have a handle on what it means to create amazing dining experiences. The service we had (with Tristan and Josh) was impeccable and beyond professional. The menu includes choices of making ANY combination of a meal you might want: Asian flavors? Check. Caribbean mojo? Got it. European styles? Yes. Add Cajun and an array of cheeses and chocolates and you just might want to camp in here. Seriously. One of the best surprises was a variety of dipping sauces ranging from Goddess, curry, gorgonzola cheese to teriyaki. It is easy to see the company emphasis is on high quality and unsurpassed service. This restaurant succeeds in both.

Always great

By Danny P |

We have been to the Melting Pot on numerous occasions and it is always top notch. It is definitely my wife's favorite restaurant. The service is always top notch and the food is consistently good. Menu changes fairly often so you can get different experiences on each trip. Will definitely be back.

Great date spot

By Butch E |

I love to take my wife here on special dates. It's quite, dimly lit, and lots of time for talking. The four course meal is the way to go.

Fun concept when you want a change

By Neil M |

Personally I think it is overpriced for basic food. They have the self-cooking down to an art and the service is great but if you are going to pay fine dining prices, I personally want to be served rather than cook my own. Fun concept though.

great wine and deli boards

By Melissa Q |

had a great bottle of red. also ordered the cheese and meat deli board. as nice as it was it was a too expensive for what you got. the also don't like it if you are drunk. we came back after a few more wines and they refused to serve us. I was quite sober but they weren't happy at my friend who was laughing and happy

Unique

By Kaybo09 |

Went with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday! This was such a unique, fun little place to go! If you are looking for something different, this is the way to go. Great for dates, parties, girls nights, more. I wouldn’t recommend small children attending

Family Gathering

By KEITH H |

Went to restaurant Saturday night. Very busy but had reservations and seated quickly. Party of eight, waiter Ty did a wonderful job. Lots of menu selections to suit everyone. Cheese fondue was good. Entree fondue was very good, fresh meats and seafood. Chocolate fondue was great ending to meal. Will be going back again.

Good but needs improvement!

By meemoogh |

I loved the melted chocolate & fruit dipping! The melted cheese is also very delicious 😋 However, I didn’t enjoy grilling my own steak, and I didn’t find the meat tasty. Generally, it was a good experience!

First Time

By hazellehaz |

We made reservations for happy hour which I would recommend as a way to save money as it's moderately to high priced. Ordering can be intricate and your table all has to decide on the same cheese, cooking style, and chocolate for each course. Everything tasted well except the entree. When I go back I will only ever get the cheese, salad, and chocolate. Nonetheless, the waiter was very attentive and helpful. If you go during happy hour all these items are 5 dollars each.

First time eating fondue

By Tisha G |

I have never had fondue but I really liked this place. Make a reservation though! They were very busy on a Sunday night. It was a little pricey, since we had never been and did not know how to order. We got 2- 4 course dinners that came with salad, cheese (including dippers such as bread, apples, veggies), salads, meats(came with vegetables) , and chocolate for dessert with a ton of yummy dippers ( way too many for two). Next time we will know how to order. Also, the pot stickers are super delicious.

Dinner was a dream!

By D H |

I have been going to this restaurant for special occasions for ten years, but had moved away three years ago. I had been telling my friend about it for two years, and when we found ourselves in Houston with no kids, I was worried that it may not have lived up to all my hype. I was so wrong! The service was friendly, welcoming and impeccable. The food was prepared beautifully and the drinks were superb. It was the perfect first impression, long overdue.

An Experience To Remember

Classy place

By stevemytech |

tuxedo waiters, white cloth tables... classy place but like everything in life, it comes with a PRICE lol. But to go here every once in a while its not bad when in return you get a great expirience and awesome food!!!!

Wonderful Experience

By Anon148John |

We visited with another couple and it was a fun meal. Our Houston Restaurant Weeks Special included four courses. All the food is served uncooked and you cook your own in a common fondue pot. We each ordered our own meal, but had to agree on the cooking "method". Really there is only one method, boiling, you bet to select the cooking liquid. Our meal included a cheese appetizer (excellent), salad, main protein, and dessert (best).

Neat Experience...Ok Food

By Cody H |

The experience was kinda neat, but we probably won't return because it's just not over the top good. The first course (cheese) was ok. Nothing spectacular. The second course (salad) was an ok salad. The entree (meat) was the best part of the meal. It was neat to cook your own food in a pot. The fourth course (desert) was good, but not great. Expect to be there a couple of hours and to spend about 50 dollars per person for an ok experience in my opinion.

Excellent!

By ColleenfromTx |

This is a pricey restaurant- ($200.00 for 3 of us, but we did order one of the more expensive options). We got the 4 course classic meal- Cheese fondue (delicious), salad (very nice choices) main course (different meats that you cook at the table in boiling boullion or oil) and then the chocolate fondue. This is a lot of food-- we got 5 different meats for our entree- The chocolate (you choose from several varieties) came with pineapple, strawberries, pound cake, rice crispy treats, blonde and chocolate brownies, waffle pieces and an oreo coated marshmallow! unbelievable. I took my 13 year old grandsons and they loved this-- a dining experience that explores a lot of flavor. The meat course came with 6 different sauces on the side. This dinner is very customizable-- something for everyone! Nice touches at every course (ie my grandson's lemonade came in a sugar rimmed glass). They melt and blend the cheese pot at the table which is really interesting. Our waitress was Guideon and the service was excellent.

Cook your own meal in a steam bath

By RAVLOTS |

When I eat at a restaurant I prefer not to do my own cooking, and when I don't bring a towel it means I don't want to take a steam at the dinner table. A hot pot of broth or cheese steaming over the table begins what is a long stay with long forks to dabble in a bubbling brew. Cook your bite-sized pieces of meat, bread, and dessert until you're exhausted. I've never worked so hard to get a morsel of food in my mouth and when it was over I wasn't sure how much I'd eaten. If I don't want to pay for a cook, I'll eat sushi, and if I eat out at a restaurant, I'd like someone to prepare my food, plate it thoughtfully, and serve it whole. Great for the kids who like to play with their food, but if you're an adult who likes to dine, this is more like Dave & Busters meets Mongolian Buffet.

FANTASTIC!! CHARMING DIFFERENT

By Giako 007 |

I went with my wife tonight more so to forget about our horrific experience yesterday at Café Adobe in Sugar Land. What can I say. The food was superb, the waiter Nick was excellent. The prices are good and the whole experience was fantastic!!

Family treat!

By 1junebug |

My son/his girlfriend took my daughter and I to the Melting Pot during a recent visit. We had reservations and were promptly seated even with the waiting area fairly crowded. This was my first visit to The Melting Pot and I was pretty impressed. The wait staff was attentive and the whole experience different and fun! Don't expect to be in a hurry though as the whole experience takes some time. We were there for 3 hours. We had the four course meal with the highlight, food-wise, being the appetizer (cheese course) and the over-the top dessert fondue, dark chocolate and Bailey's. Everything we had was delicious....with the exception of the chicken....the texture was "off" probably as a result of being boiled in the pot. The Melting Pot is pretty pricey....but, in my opinion, the whole experience and the time spent laughing, visiting and catching up with family, around a communal fondue pot, makes it totally worth it!! Oh, and did I say chocolate???

Perfect date night

By Nucking F |

I have visited the melting pot multiple times with friends and family. Everyone has always had a fun time. It’s a little expensive but the dining experience is hard to beat. The food and service is excellent. The restaurant has lots of tables and booths located small nooks can crannies which is very romantic. If you are looking for a fun night out you can’t go wrong.

Our server was knowledgeable, personable, and always there at the right time. Also, the food was great. They really went above and beyond in every way. It was a great evening.

Great birthday meal

By Mark H |

We've been here before and also in other cities. When it comes to a special celebration meal you can't beat Melting Pot. We went for a family birthday meal and they took care of us. They knew it was a birthday as we walked in and each person made it a point to wish my wife happy birthday. Will be back for sure.

3 Words: Spinach Artichoke Dip

By ajg346 |

My boyfriend and I went to the Melting Pot for date night. The experience was great! Our server Jessica was personal and knowledgeable of the menu. If you go to the Melting Pot you have to try the SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP.... it's by far the best I've ever had. For dessert you won't be disappointed with the Banana Foster. Be sure to sign up for the Fondue Club, you'll receive a voucher for 6 chocolate covered strawberries!!! Need I say more. -AJ-

Stay with Cheese and Chocolate

By WesleyMCPA |

Great dinner. 5 stars on the cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue. We had the 4 course meal and could have done without the meat. Boiling my steak just isn't a great meal. Loved the experience. Bananas Foster was incredible. If you get the cheddar fondue, they add a strong beer to it. We will skip that next time. Overall great time and great service.

Best Experience Ever

Anniversary Dinner Celebration

By Scott B |

Celebrated 19 years of marriage with my beautiful wife. We made an online reservation and arrived early. We were seated immediately upon arrival after a courteous greeting. At 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was not crowded at all. Being our first time, the waiter was well versed at describing the fondue experience we were going to have. We ordered a four-course meal. The waiter explained what courses complimented each other. Meal As the courses come out, don't let the small size fool you. A four-course meal served over the course of two hours will fill you up. You will not leave hungry. I promise. For the main course, the food comes out raw. It is up to you to fondue the food to your preference. The waiter offers cooking times. The food and seasoning and dipping sauces taste great. Atmosphere The restaurant is clean, dark, and romantic. The tables were slightly uncomfortable to sit in. Service The service was excellent from the moment that we arrived to the moment that we left. The only gripe that I have is that the waiter increased the price of our dinner by charging us extra for Coq Au Vin. It was not clear from the beginning that this option would have an extra charge. We were led to believe that the total charge was based on which entree each person chose. This was only a $5.95 increase but the reason for the 4-stars instead of a 5-star review. When I asked the waiter about the charge, he appeared to shrug it off. Overall, a good experience.

New Years Mojo!

By edmundoesqueda |

Akways a fun time, we took our son for the second time with us and he also enjoys it. He is 10 and the kids pricing is great. We also order extra protein and its very reasonable.

Fun restaurant, good food, good service

By Joe G |

Our kids like to have us take them here so they can help us celebrate our anniversary, so this has become an annual tradition each May. Every time we visit, the servers are very polite and attentive. The food is always good. If you like wine, they do a very good job with their flight, pairing a wine with each course. Highly recommend.

Absolutely Amazing.

By Leisha |

My boyfriend surprised me with this beautiful dinner. The food was amazing, service was great, and definitely had plenty of food.

Great place to go with friends or family for an interactive dining experience!

By Ana P |

We met up with some friends to try out the Melting Pot. We went for the 4-course meal and found everything to be quite delicious. The meal started with cheese fondue, you can choose your own cheese combination and also order a small meat platter if you like. Bread is provided. We then had a small salad. I highly recommend the strawberry caprese salad. It was lovely. We then moved on to the meat and vegetable portion where you boil your food for a couple of minutes to cook. The broth is quite flavorful. The highlight of course was the dessert. We had the smores chocolate fondue. You can always find room for dessert. They give you brownies, blondies, rice krispies, pound cake, strawberries, banana slices, pineapple, and marshmallows for dipping. You will definitely not walk away hungry! For our return trip we will probably stick to the cheese and chocolate fondues, but since it was our first time we opted for the full experience. The service was great as well!

Fun experience for a special occasion

By Monica R |

We were celebrating my daughter's 19th birthday and we had a party of 7. We had only 2 pots for our table so keep in mind you will only be able to choose 2 options for the pots. So you will have to compromise on choices. The server said that the 4 course experience is made for 1 person but we ordered 3 to share among 7. Then we just ordered another portion for the cheese fondue & added pasta to the entree portion. This was plenty for all of us. It is a pricey restaurant but it was well worth it for the ambience, experience and service. But i would suggest sharing the 4 course experience for 2 people. It seems like a romantic place for dates and a fun experience for special occasions. I will definitely go back!

Best anniversary dinner ever!!

By Stacey B |

I had always wanted to try a fondue restaurant so my hubby surprised me by taking me here for our 18th anniversary. What a wonderful place! The staff was very pleasant and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel special. The food was sooooo good! We had the dinner for two with cheese fondue, salad, entree meats, and chocolate for dessert. Everything was so tasty.....even the salad! We will be back!!

Great food and atmosphere

By Traveler mom |

This place is a must in your trip to Houston. It is a perfect place for a delicious dining experience. Food is great. It consists of four courses: cheese fondue, salad, entree and chocolate fondue. You choose three to four times in your entree, and you get the chance to cook your meal yourself on the table. Now, they added a new cooking option which is grill style and it was perfect for the sirloin and chicken.Every time we go we have a great experience. Although our last visit was slightly different. The service was super slow, and we spent like three hours to finish our dining experience that my daughter missed half of it because she felt asleep. The waiter was very friendly and professional . It is not really a kid friendly place especially because the table has a stove on it, but it is doable . Highly recommended.

Something different

By Angela C |

Brought family here to try something new and we had a fun time. After deciding to try everything with the 4 course meal, we started with the Classic Alpine cheese fondue. Shavings of nutmeg added just the right touch to the gruyère cheese and white wine base for a light cheese fondue to coat broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, granny apple and bread cubes. Second course was salad which our friendly waitress completely forgot. She set up our entrée and was ready to let us dip in. I had to remind her our salads never came. Once she got them out though, all was forgiven as the strawberry caprese completely took me to a tasty delight. It has fresh mozzarella, ripe summer strawberries, Roma tomatoes, field greens, white balsamic glaze and honey roasted almonds. The balsamic glaze has a tangy sweet flavor and together with the salad just refreshed the pallette from the cheese course. We chose coq au vin cooking style which adds a glass of red wine in the broth for extra flavor. My entrée was the Fondue Delight. It has premium filet mignon and a succulent cold water lobster tail paired with all-natural breast of chicken, Pacific white shrimp and wild mushroom sacchetti. Each person's fondue forks were color coded so we did not get confused at all about whose food was coming. We whipped out clock app to make sure we were not overcooking and toughening the meat. It was a delight to have such succulent seafood and tender cuts of meats. The chocolate fondue was a nice finishing touch especially with a generous shot of grand marnier. We loved fruits, pound cake and brownies for the last close. Rice crispy squares and marshmallows were too sweet to our liking. It was a delightful meat that lasted a full three hours so be sure to reserve plenty of time for a fun meal.

Fun concept, mediocre food

By Robert B |

This is "Fogo de Chao" for folks who like fondue, enjoy places that let you cook your own food (e.g., the Japanese hot rocks experience), or who otherwise like playing with their food (which we apparently do). The food itself is good quality, but nothing special. Our service was very good, and it was fun running through the cheese, meat and chocolate courses. I'm not sure I need to go again, though I suspect my kids will insist we do, as these 15 years olds were very happy with the experience.

Fun experience

By Txtnk |

We have been to this Melting Pot many times. Today we went for a kids eat free promotion and took our two elementary aged children with us. Dining at the Melting Pot is about the experience. The best parts of the meal are always the cheese and chocolate. I personally do not care much for the meat portion. The kids loved the experience.

Not our first rodeo but a lovely repeat

Always great service and enjoyable atmosphere. Bartender is top notch was able to make our favorite drink that wasn't on the bar menu. . It was awesome.

Fantastic Valentine's Meal.

By Tom W |

It had been years since we've been to The Melting Pot. I'm glad we made it back. We ordered the Classic meal with cheese fondue, salad, meats, and dessert. It can feed two to three people. The Wisconsin cheese fondue was good. I like the garlic which was added to the cheddar. It gave a good flavor to the fondue. I enjoyed the breads, apples and veggies to dip in it. I would try a different cheese next time. The Strawberry Caprese Salad was very good. We got the Classic meal and added some extra filet mignon for our son. It was plenty of food. The Mojo Cooking Style was awesome. It's a "Bold, Flavorful Caribbean-inspired bouillon bursting with flavors of fresh garlic and citrus." The vegetables soaked up the juice and were delicious. The beef and chicken were excellent. The dipping sauces were fantastic. I enjoyed the bleu cheese sauce with the beef. The teriyaki and plum ginger sauce was great too. To top the meal all off was the turtle chocolate fondue dessert - delicious. This is a great place for special occasions. It is worth the price. I can't wait to come back.

Great fun lively service!

Man, where to start order some red wine and Coq au vin, the yin yang chocolate. Land and sea, cheese fondue and loaded bake potato.

Great food and atmosphere

By Traveler mom |

We had been at this place several time. We visited recently to celebrate my birthday. I had reserved via open table. We were welcoming by unsmiling and unfriendly hostess. However, when we were seated, we had a totally different experience. Our waiter Armonie made sure to give us the best experience any customer would appreciate. We loved the food, it was our first time trying the iron grill, and we totally agreed to get this cooking style anytime we visit the melting pot. Highly recommended.

Almost Perfect

By moviegrrl3 |

We made reservations for a Friday evening in honor or our 13th wedding anniversary. I joined the fondue club and got a coupon for free strawberries (join the club before your reservations so you can get 6 chocolate strawberries). We were greeted by a nice hostess upon entry and seated almost immediately. The booth they seated us at was right next to a very boisterous party of folks. Our server seemed to be trying to hurry to get them to leave. He gave them their checks with their dessert. My husband and I thought about toughing it out and staying where we were but we finally decided to ask our server if the volume level was normal for the restaurant since it was our first visit. He explained that they had already received another noise complaint and that he would get the manager. The manager came over and apologized and moved us to a much quieter section of the restaurant. We were very happy they moved us. If they hadn't our experience would have been much different. We did the four course dinner. My husband doesn't like cheese but he tried the cheddar fondue anyways. He really liked it. I thought it was alright (and I'm the cheese lover). I might try a different kind next time. You get bread, veggies, and apples with the cheese. They have an assorted lunch meat type of plate if you want to upgrade. The salads were good, but I didn't eat all mine so I could save room for the good stuff. For entrees my husband got the steak lovers which had teriyaki, sirloin, and filet. I got the classic plate to try a little of everything. We did the coq au vin (I think that was the spelling) cooking method which incorporates red wine and spices. It was pretty good. My classic plate had chicken, sirloin, teriyaki steak, shrimp, and pork. I have to say my favorite was the pork and the sirloin with the sirloin being my absolute favorite. They had a nice pepper crust on it that made it super tasty. I could have just eaten a plate full of the sirloin and been uber happy. The shrimp and chicken was kind of bland. I can only guess it's due to the cooking method because you're basically boiling it. I think I would skip the chicken and shrimp next time. For dessert we got the turtle flambé. It was excellent. We had tried it before at another Melting Pot location so we knew exactly what to expect. It's chocolate with caramel and nuts. You get a plate of dippers which includes strawberries, pineapple, marshmallows, pound cake, rice crispy treats, and brownies. You can get another plate with cheesecake and other stuff for an extra $5, but we were already pretty full. Our server was very good. We always had our drinks full and he was friendly. The manager stopped by to check on us while we were eating our cheese and offered to get us additional apples and bread, but we declined so we could save room. It was a nice gesture that didn't go unnoticed. Another nice touch was the plate we got our dessert on said "Happy Anniversary" on it. Overall it was an excellent experience. We would definitely go back again.

Anniversary dinner

By Melissa M |

My husband and I reserved a table at Melting Pot to celebrate our anniversary. We have been to this restaurant several times before for special occasions and have always had pretty good experiences. This time we were really let down. The night started off well - the hostess was friendly, the bartender took care of us while we waited for our table (we arrived a little early), and the table was decorated beautifully once we were seated. But then everything kind of went downhill. Our waiter was very rushed. He was pleasant enough, but not very friendly, and we felt like we were being hurried through our food courses. Then at the end of the meal, we had to ask for the champagne flutes and strawberries that were supposed to come as part of our package. No big deal, but he acted put out by having to go check into it and get them for us. Well, when you're dropping $200+ on dinner and drinks, and then another $100+ on the package (roses, strawberries, etc), you don't want to be rushed or made to feel like you're being an inconvenience. Then to top it off, our "secluded" booth ended up being ridiculously noisy. A gentleman two tables over from us was talking so loudly that my husband and I could barely hear each other. He was borderline obnoxious. We kept thinking (hoping?) that his group would finish up and leave soon but no such luck, they were there the entire time we were there. Although we didn't actually complain to anyone about them, I find it hard to believe that none of the waitstaff or management said anything to them. And then one last sour note... When we got home and unwrapped our champagne flutes, one of them was chipped and we had to throw it away. I'm sure we will be back - the food was still delicious - but it won't be for a while. This experience really disappointed us.

Had a really fun time

By Gottaseeitnow |

The service was great and the whole thing was really fun. I was a bit surprised that we had to cook our own meal, but once we got the hang of it we really enjoyed ourselves. We had a secluded little booth for two, and were able to relax and enjoy the evening. Will definitely go back again.

Great Evening out

By Rick H |

When all you want is a unique, quiet, romantic dinner with your spouse - look no further. Wife and I had a night out in Houston and chose The Melting Pot for dinner - everyone was fantastic from beginning to end. I recommend a evening here if looking for the same.

Awesome

We had a great experience. Our server michael was awesome. He explained the menu to us and was very knowledgeable of the menu and specials. All the food was delicious

Not what I expected, a very pleasant surprise

By SaltwaterTom |

I took my wife here at her request for her birthday. I was expecting to have to subsist on bread squares and cheese dip; I was very mistaken. Yes you start with bread squares, chips, and raw veggies (we did the four course meal), then our salads of choice, followed by a boiling pot of liquid that we dipped the proteins of our choice (chicken, duck, beef, shrimp, and potstickers) in for 1-2 minutes at a time. The flavors each protein took on was intense and unusual, and the textures of the beef and duck were out of this world. Last came chocolate, with a variety of fruit and sweets to dip. I left very full and very happy, though at a cost of $105 for 2 drinks and dinner for two, I would expect to be. The setting is very dim and romantic, and our wait staff was very attentive and helpful. We will go again, probably just for dessert if nothing else.

Girls night out

By pattisantowski |

Great night at the melting pot. I love the quiet soothing atmosphere. We ordered two kinds of cheese fondue and of course a chocolate course. The environment is total conducive for relaxing, and great conversation. I highly recommend it for a relaxing evening for a couple, or just a couple of friends. Chill out and enjoy!

Amazing Place

Remarkable service and amazing food. We will definitely return. From the hostess to the manager and everyone in between were very attentive and made sure that our anniversary dinner was perfect.

Great service, fun food and nice ambience

By Reidar |

About time for our family to come to a real fondue restaurant. We very often make fondue at home in Norway where we live, but this is something different, something you for sure not will get at home. Our daughters (16 and 18) enjoyed it a lot and the service was probably of the best we ever experienced. I see some TripAdvisor reports that the food was just about mediocre. We may have been very lucky, but everything we got was great. The waiter even recommended us to order less than we did. "I think three main courses would be sufficient for the four of you" the waiter said. He was right. The wine glass is generously filled, and the ambience in the room is just great. We would recommend this place to everyone.

Absolutely amazing. I had a huge stats test the next day and my boyfriend just got home from the military. So he surprised me to try and get my mind off the test. Well it worked. The service was outstanding. The waiter was so personable. And the food was just down right amazing. We can't wait to come back.

Great service and fun experience but food is just ok.

By Sharon L |

We have been to The Melting Pot several times with our kids. It is a fun experience and the waitstaff was always friendly but the food is average. Our favorite parts of the 4 course meal is the cheese appetizer and chocolate desserts. Who can go wrong dipping anything in cheese or chocolate, but the entree has never been good. We have yet to find a cooking style that was good with all the meats. I think in that regard, the asian hot pot or Japanese sabu sabu is much better.

Great Fun

My daughter took us to eat here. It is great fun cooking and talking. Even our two year old granddaughter liked it here. Rather costly, but oh so good.

Excellent Restaurant and Staff

I had a surprise birthday dinner there, and the restaurant and staff was beyond my expectations!!!!! Everybody loved loved loved everything about it! Great Customer Service and food!!! We will be back!!!!

Not sure

By Lisa R |

Its a good expierance but not sold on the entrees. Might be better to try them on the grill vs the pot but not a fan of the meat boiled in the pot along with the veggies. The cheese fondue is good. The salad good. The chocolate fondue best part of the meal. I'm giving 3 stars based on not liking the entree

Foul smelling and overcharged.

By stephbunny4 |

The first thing I noticed when walking into the melting pot was the overwhelming smell. As one the courses is a cheese fondue, the smell of all the various melting cheeses creates a smell of feet across the restaurant. The restaurant is dark, the colours are grey and brown and no decorations . The cheese and salad course were ok. The main was ridiculous. I was presented with a side plate of various meats and fish. I only eat chicken but peoples dietary requirements weren't checked, it was just brought to the table automatically after the salads. Thankfully my friends were willing to eat my steak and pork and they gave me their chicken pieces. The stingy portion of veg on the plate (two pieces of brocolli and 1 potato) had touched the red meat so I couldn't eat it. So for my main I had 3 small pieces of chicken. The chocolate fondue was probably the best bit. You get small bits of fruit to dip in. All in all I was thinking by this point I probably won't return because a lot of the food isn't suitable for my dietary needs but at least the evening in the company of my friends was nice. However, since getting home I have checked my bill and I have been charged for 2 cocktails which I did not have. I drank water all night. I was quite eager to leave at payment time as my eyes were sore from all the oils being cooked on your table, and my hair smells of fatty grease. I think a bill of $56 for what I ate, and 2 alcoholic beverages which I didn't drink, is outrageous. I do not live near the melting pot so it is not convenient for me to return with my bill. I am very miffed that the restaurant has an unpleasant odour, the setting is dark, my hair and clothes now smell and to add insult to injury I was overcharged. Never again. I would've complimented Michael our server, however the incorrect bill has just left me unable to draw any positives from the experience.

Great job!

By Rob S |

Our family of four went to the Melting Pot for a late dinner prior to ringing in the New Year. For New Year's Eve there was a set menu which met our needs perfectly. Included in the price for the evening was a champagne toast and two copies of a photograph taken of our table. The food here is very good and the suggested cooking times worked out perfectly for our tastes. We particularly liked the shrimp 'martini' starter that was on the menu. Our waitress, Kaitlyn (not sure of spelling) was great, coming back at just the right times to check in or bring the next course. Our drinks were always refilled in a timely manner. Overall, a great job by the Melting Pot!

Love, love this place

By Jessme |

One of my favorite places. It is very pricey but so very good. We always get the 4-course experience which includes your choice of a cheese fondue, salad, entree and the best part...chocolate fondue. I love the loaded baked potato cheese fondue. They give you veggies, bread and apples for dippers. My fav salad is the strawberry caprese (pictured). As far as chocolate you cannot go wrong with any but just had the cookies and cream fondue and it is now my new fav. The staff explains your dining experience so don't worry.

Love it

By Brandi B |

Went with family and loved it! We have been several times and always same courteous experienced wait staff!

Always a good time.

By Bec61 |

This location of the Melting Pot never disappoints. This is our first choice when celebrating a mile stone in our family. Hostess was very friendly, young lady who took us to our table was welcoming, and our waiter, Paul, was knowledgable and friendly. We had the Wisconsin Trio to start, which will be coming off the menu soon. It is one of our favorites, so not sure why it is being deleted. Each of us got a different salad and all were fresh. I like the smaller size salad. We each ordered a different main course. I like being able to order what I want. And finally, we had the bananas foster fondue, which is also being taken off the menu. Really enjoyed it. As a family, we always enjoy the time spent at the Melting Pot. Good food and quality time together.

Beware

By Ricky C |

When a restaurant “enforces” a 20% tipping upon you, it is no longer a tip, but rather a fee. A cover charge. Thank you for visiting my restaurant. Thanks to you we can pay bills and salaries, and, by the way, I am charging you a cover charge for choosing to come in? (granted it was for the two of us only). Tipping is always based on personal preference, and appreciation. It increases if the service exceeds expectations, and motivation for tipping is activated. But enforced? Remember, table for two. Here is where it worsens. I proceeded to make a purchase for a good cause. I bought a gift certificate for St Jude’s Hospital and in return, I got a small amount in the form of a gift card added to it. All good, right? Paving my way to heaven. Woohooo. Lo-n-behold, another 20% tip was added to the gift card. It was not until a few days later that I noticed what they had done. Had I known this right then, during the purchase, I would have said no and raised hell. So, if you go to this restaurant, do not buy the “for a good cause” gift card and be aware of (and willing to pay) the cover charge. Will i come back? (sorry good food) but no.... The name is The Melting Pot

Restaurant Week hit!

By kbloomer60 |

The rating is 4.5 stars. Jessica was our waitress and guided us through the special selections on the second night of Restaurant Week. The half star deduction was for a slight miss on value. Sure $5 from each entree goes towards the Houdton Food Bank, but the overall bill didn't seem in line with the quantity (not quality) of food. So, on with the review. We started with the baked potato appetizer. Nice 2-blend fondue cheese, the vegetables and breads went nicely with it. I thought the little grape tomatoes weren't a good match though, and the potatoes were diced too small. The entrees were the French Quarter which was a good mix of 2 types of shrimp, andouille sausage, and tenderloin. Land and Sea was basically the same, just absent the typical Cajun spices and had chicken versus sausage. We also ordered a lobster tail. There were 6 types of dipping sauces, they're a nice addition but not totally necessary since the broth is flavorful. Third course is dessert, probably the best part. The milk chocolate went great with the strawberries, marshmallows, Rice Krispie treats, pound cake, brownies, and chocolate chip cookies. Wow! Jessica's service was attentive and not overbearing. It's not fast food, dinner can take 1-1/2 to 2 hours. It's a good meal and a good cause.

Came here for our anniversary and Ty made everything perfect! Amazing ambience, incredible food, and very fun and informative server! Will be returning and can't wait until the next time to bring our friends!

Favorite Romantic Date Spot

By Kapizar |

Wonderful food, great ambiance. Romantic. Private. Special. Prepare to be stuffed! But, if you don't drink alcohol, the drink menu is limited. Water is available (and is good, not nasty water) but there is a blackberry sage lemonade they make at the bar (alc-free) and is crazy good. The Mexican chocolate fondue is divine. Their dipped strawberries are the best, and you can get a free order by signing up on their website for their e-club, then when you make online reservations just let them know you will be expecting your complimentary strawberries (a $16 offer)

Great place for family and the dining experience is excellent.

Great place for family and the dining experience is excellent. The waitress made the experience for the kids entertaining.

Dinner with Friends

By Gordon |

Came to The Melting Pot for dinner with friends that helped us during the Harvey flooding. A very nice, but pricy, place to dine. We arrived at 6:00 and had a long leisurely dinner, not leaving until about 9:30. We were not rushed, or felt any pressure to move along. We have the multi-course fondue meal, starting with the cheese fondue, a salad, the main course fondue, followed by the chocolate fondue. Everyone came away with full stomachs and satisfied spirits.

Different Experience

By ehhartnett |

This was the second time in 10 years we've eaten at the Melting Pot, and not much had changed. The food quality is not great, maybe good at best, as an example, the bread that they use with the cheese fondue is not very good quality, which doesn't leave a good first impression. There are many great restaurants in Houston for less or equal cost than the Melting Pot. I guess the fun at the Melting Pot is cooking your own food table side, which makes for a different experience, but not a memorable one. So the question my wife and I always ask, would we go back, this was our second time, but it will be the last time.

New Grilling Option

By txjboy |

I've never been a Melting Pot fan but it's where our grandson wanted to celebrate his departure for college in a couple of weeks. They now offer a grilling option. So, instead of dipping your protein in hot oil one can grill it instead. A couple of us chose the steak lovers meal. It was delicious. The service was excellent. Nice atmosphere for groups or couples. Thus, I'll be pleased to return there after my initial resistance. BTW, he'll be attending the University of Delaware.

Wonderful time and service

By slinginglead |

We took family here for the first time and we had a blast. Our server was attentive and the food was excellent. This is not a fast food restaurant, you need to take your time and enjoy it. Please leave your phone alone and enjoy your company, you have time to talk and take in the person you are with.

Fun dining experience.

By Sandy L |

Dining at the Melting Pot is a full evening adventure. Give yourself plenty of time so you can try all the different courses. The wait staff is knowledgeable and super friendly.

Great Experience

My daughter wanted to go there for her 5th birthday and the waiters made her feel like a princess. The whole experience was great!

Incredible!!!

By dilloritto |

Our waytor “Nick” was amazing!! He was very friendly, funny, and kind. The food was worth every penny! All the food was delicious!!! The cheese was incredible! The chocolate was very rich, it also had a very unique texture that helped bring it all together, and make it taste as good as it was!!!

Enjoyed ourselves!

By dalmar89 |

Loved the service. Les was our server. He did an excellent job explaining to us everything we needed to know since it was our first time there. We arrived about 30 minutes early and we got seated right away.We got a small secluded/private booth which we loved. The meat is not to die for but was good. Dessert was my favorite part. We will go back for sure. Dalia & Martin from Brazoria Tx.

Very nice atmosphere staff was very friendly and attentive. One of Houston's most romantic spots they also offer different gift flowers roses etc etc

Excellent experience

By cyn_mgmt1 |

This was our first time there. We ordered way to much food. We ordered a cheese fondue, dessert fondue, and all three of us got an entree. Too much food for 3 people. Plus my daughter got lobster tail. She said it was to die for. The cheese and chocolate was soooo good. I'm not a chocolate person...but I could have eaten it all. The pork was divine. The chicken was good. For us the shrimp was hard to cook. We wanted to make sure it was done so we overcooked. But it was still good. Our waiter was awesome!!!! We will be back. Everyone should try it.

Expensive cheese dip.

By Stephanie L |

If you like fondue and you don't mind paying too much for too little, then this is the place for you. The restaurant is dark, the service is slow, the food is boiled in fondue pots and the price is expensive. However, if you are like cheese dip, and boiled meat, then it is worth the experience. It would be nice if the servers took a little more time to explain the process and did not seem so rushed and bothered by requests for refills on water. Healthy options are really not available, and if you are diabetic, don't bother.

Excellent Experience

By MKB2204 |

The Melting Pot is a very unusual restaurant but very nice dining experience. The choice of meat or fish/seafood for the fondue is excellent and so is the choice of different cheeses for the cheese fondue. For the fish or meat fondue you can also choose from either different oils or broths. I usually opted for a broth as it makes the entire meal a lot lighter to digest. A huge guilty pleasure are the various chocolate fondues. My personal favourite is the dark chocolate fondue with a mix of fresh fruit and cake to dip in. Whatever you order is of very high quality and very enjoyable. It is certainly not a cheap option to dine there but worth every penny. The service is friendly and polite. The waiting times are minimal and the organisation of the place simply works. I am looking forward to my next trip to Houston to go there again.

Nice and unique experience

By Maria F |

Husband and I visited for the first time for our 11 year anniversary. The one thing I was worried about was are we going to get full?!! Especially my husband, last thing I wanted was to leave still hungry. Well you don't! It may seem not like much but it really is and we were both full at the end of our 4 course meal. We couldn't finish everything on our dessert plate. Cheese course was my favorite ( I love cheese) we got the loaded potato (I think that's what its called) with bread, veggies and apples to dip. Next we got the salad and then we choose the classic which has beef, chicken pork and shrimp. The quality of the meat was not the best but tasty. Last but not least was the chocolate which we chose the flaming Mexican chocolate...delicious and has a kick of spice! Oh and my drink was the Fiery pineapple margarita, I would get it again. Waiter was very friendly and gave some very helpful recommendations since it was our first time. I also like the atmosphere not too bright and you feel somewhat secluded in your own dining space. Overall we will be returning and trying out some of the other choices they offer.

Fabulous food, as always!

By M B |

I always love coming here to eat! The whole experience is fun (come hungry)! If you sign up for "Club Fondue", they send you emails throughout the year on specials they're having; they also send you an annual birthday email to receive a box of 6 chocolate-covered strawberries for free (bring a printout of the email you received) when you book and keep a dinner reservation. Fun place for a birthday celebration too! Best offer I've seen is $29 per person for 3 course meal, which was a special for Jan 29th! My friend and I went and had such a good time! :)

Romantic Night Out!

By mrshoop10 |

We went for Valentine's Day so this is a little late! We have been previously for our anniversary and that time was great too! We love the chocolate and cheese, probably the best part. The Heath Bar Chocolate is great! Service is always excellent and the waiters are very knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, the best part of the restaurant is the dark lighting and intimate setting! It's really fun being able to "cook" you food and just take you time enjoying the experience! We will be back!

Worth the price!

I get treated by my Husband on my birthday and our anniversary. It is so nice and the service is fantastic. What a special treat. If you join their club they give you a coupon for 6 chocolate dipped strawberries ( order in advance when you make reservation and print out your coupon). A special place for a special time.

Nearly a VERY different review

By philguk |

Melting Pot is normally a great place for fondue, but this visit started abysmally After 30 minutes, we had given our order TWICE and we're still waiting for even a glass of water or any apology So we walked out, pausing to explain to the manager why we were leaving and he persuaded us to stay, and served us himself We're glad he did. We always order TWO cheese fondues, and these were as good as any we've tasted (my wife us a cheese addict!) This elevated this review from 1 (or zero) stars to 4 - just goes to show that when things do go wrong, there are still some people who know how to react Thanks Michael

Daughters birthday

By Karl A |

My 24 year old daughter want to have her birthday dinner at The Melting Pot. My wife and I have never dined at a fondue restaurant. It is quite the dining experience. Our server Brain Knight was excellent. He explained the experience and we chose the four course meal option. We each chose different meat options and really enjoyed the dining experience. Brain also paired a nice Cabernet with our meal. We had a 7pm reservation for our Sunday evening meal, but the restaurant was not overly crowded. A very enjoyable evening.

Super satisfied

I've been to The Melting Pot Houston twice, and both times were amazing! The staff is great, and the manager Gavin was very accommodating. And the food is so awesome! My favorite fondue is the Bananas Foster!

Memory Maker

By stubljumpr |

We always make a reservation and have always been promptly seated at the time made. Our server was Tony and he was excellent. He took the time to explain how the meal would run to my nephew who was a first-timer. Tony went above and beyond to make his 18th birthday special. You can customize our experience by changing the meats, veggies, sauces, chocolates, etc. Be sure to give yourself at least 2 hrs if not 3 for the whole meal. Do not eat before hand, thinking you will be hungry when you leave. The pace of the meal actually lets your brain tell you that you are full. You can get refills of all the dippers except the meats which is an extra charge. It is expensive but, worth it. It is a lot of fun and I will go back.
