Wonderful Easter Brunch

By wwfrench |

The Mercury does a fantastic job with Easter Brunch!! They have a great buffet with tons of selections to make everyone in your family happy! Made to order omlettes, eggs Benedict , pancakes , bacon and sausage. Poached shrimp , oysters , sushi, meats , sides , salads and an extensive choice of deserts !! Thumbs up for three generations in my family!

Consistently Good for a Long Time

By Lee F |

Menu is a bit eclectic with a few Tex-Mex items included. We usually have one of their gargantuan hamburgers, easily taking half home. Lunch entrees are good. Everything tastes good. Wine list is adequate and staff attentive.

Underwhelmed

By Jing M |

The one redeeming factor about this place is the service. Our server was polite and made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. One of the specials on the night we were there was Manhattan clam chowder which my friend and I both decided to order. Unfortunately, our server came back and informed us that there was on,y enough for one serving - this before 7pm on a Monday night. My friend decided to order another dish which we were comped for - kudos to our server. The main dishes we got were just so so and the ambience was just not there. Unfortunately, I don't think that I will be going back.

Good Food/Good Service

By Rich30350 |

We were there for a Saturday night with a group of 8 and sat in the back room area. The food was good...not great...but still very good. I ordered the Rib Eye ($48)...it was cooked correctly and was a lot of meat....just don't think it was a $48 steak. The sides were all very good. Overall a solid 4 star restaurant.

Very Romantic Place

By Mike T |

We visited twice, once in the afternoon for drinks and appetizers and again in the evening. The appetizers are unique and delicious. In the evening the food is good and the atmosphere romantic. I had a baked chicken that was far from ordianary. My wife had a steak prepared perfectly medium rare. Couples in the bar were all dressed nicely, and many of the women dressed to be noticed. That separates it from many of the other steak places in Dallas.

Great food!

By Laura J |

Wonderful food and atmosphere! I had the bacon and tomato salad, lamb, and blueberry cheesecake egg roll. I highly recommend all of those dishes.

Excellent food and service

By Kaptx |

Four of us had a wonderful dinner. Two filets with dynamite sauce and two orders of sliders as entrees. All cooked perfectly to order. Started with the kalamata salad. Split various sides: fries, onion rings, creamed spinach and Mac and cheese. Good bread basket with butter and pate. Too full for dessert. Full bar, great service and valet parking.

Great place for a special dinner

We celebrated a birthday last night at The Mercury. It was a great meal, the wine recommendations were spot on and everyone had a great time. Wonderful steaks, great seafood, and lovely desserts.

Great food, Good Service, Expensive Wine

By Deborah B |

We’ve dined at The Mercury Grill before, about a year and a half ago and it was very good but this visit was even better. They have remodeled the restaurant and bar, added some space, and definitely stepped up their game in regards food taste/quality. There were four people in our party and we were all very pleased with our choices. The Pearl Couscous Carbonara was a hit with the party that ordered and the comment was made that it would work as a small entrée. The beet and goat cheese salad was delicious. My husband got the filet which is said was one of the most tender cuts he had ever had at a restaurant. My Crisped Salmon not fabulous like everyone’s selections but fresh and good. Others got the Pan Roasted Halibut and Grilled Double “Kobe” Pork Chops both received rave reviews. Word of caution, their bottles of wine are much more expensive than other restaurants, for example, “The Prisoner” (red blend) which is typically $65-$85 at other restaurants was $105 or $115. Service was good and the atmosphere is pleasant.

No drawbacks at all!

By GrapeHeart |

Location is off the beaten path but terrific. Easy self park or fast valet park. Make reservations! Very busy place. Excellent wine list. Nice sophisticated restaurant with fabulous food. Chef is indeed amazing and has a creative flare. You won't be disappointed.

always outstanding

By Michele K |

The Mercury's food is always outstanding. We had: heirloom tomato salad, bibb and crab salad, filet with dynamite sauce, snapper and mac and cheese. Everything was perfect and there was plenty of food. The mixed drinks were tasty, but small. The waitstaff was friendly and not too intrusive. The atmosphere is dark--always dark!--but lovely.

Outstanding, as always

By Kaptx |

We went for a quiet evening. Great service by Tony and the valet is a real plus. The bread, butter and pate are excellent. For a starter, we split the pasta dish made with pearl couscous. Unusual, but outstanding. For entrees, the filet was perfectly black and blue. Also, the sliders and fries were great as an entree. The soufflé with a combination of chocolate and vanilla sauce was the conclusion of a perfect dinner.

First Time Success!

By MarkMM55 |

First time to give Mercury a try. I have to say I read a few of the not so good reviews on here before we went, and was ready for potential poor service. Not at all our experience. Got there early for our reservation (yes, you definitely need one at dinner times), so went to the bar. No issues at all with the bar service..just that a Miller Lite bottle was $7.00....after a bit our party of six was showed to our table. Waiter was great and attentive but not intrusive or overbearing. Did a fine job for us. Food was excellent and prepared exactly as we asked..even my friend’s requested “black and blue” cooked 16 oz ribeye! One snag was that two side orders did not come out with our meals..but, they arrived not more than five minutes later and piping hot! So...all good. We had various deserts which put a nice sweet end to the meal. Wine list was adequate for our friends who preferred wine...me beer thank you very much. Just wish it had been draft beer. Overall, a very nice evening. Place was packed as we were leaving, but the noise level was ok as we had no issues carrying on a conversation during our meal.

Mixed feelings about this place

By CelticGirlLA |

I was hoping for more from the reviews and my local friend's opinion. The decor is beautiful and it's nice they have valet at night since it's in a strip mall. My appetizer of the fried oysters was good but very heavily breaded. I loved my halibut entree but my companions had pork chops they said were tough and very dry. The most annoying thing was a place charging 30 plus for entrees should have excellent service. I had to flag our server down everytime i wanted a drink and he was awol after our entrees arrived though i wanted ground pepper. He acted like it was a chore to help us once we ordered. I would most likely not return when i visit based on our uneven food and poor service.

Wonderful

By Mary W |

We celebrated our anniversary and it could not have been more perfect. Great service by our server Jesse and delicious food. Thank you to the chaf Chris Ward and all of the staff at The Mercury for a beautiful dinner. We can't wait to come back!!

Still a hit

By bgou |

Haven't been to the Mercury in a few years after we moved but it was nice to come back and find it as consistently outstanding as always. The food was outstanding, the service friendly and attentive and the the ambience clubby with a slight throwback vibe. Mostly an older crowd but it passed my companion's, who likes everything new, expectations.

Disappointed

By Michael W |

This restuarant has been much better in the past. We were there New Years Eve-it was crowded as expected, thus the service was slow. I had to ask for coffee 3 times before the waiter remembered. But to be fair he had a lot going on. More relavant was that our entrees were at best average. I ordered the lamb shank. It was probably over cooked as it was somewhat dry. It should almost fall off the shank with a fork. My wife ordered a veal dish and she said it tasted like it was breaded with a pre-packaged mix. We will not be going here again. In Dallas there is no reason to give a restaurant a second chance. Sorry but that is the way it is.

Sushi at the Mercury is a revelation

By MomWaller |

The recently opened Sushi at the Mercury elevates sushi beyond the usual rolls and sashimi. The Kampachi Grapefruit will make you wonder why you ever thought sushi came with rice. Amberjack and grapefruit play nicely together. On two visits, I ordered the toro tartar for each of my guests. The presentation, over dry ice, was good showmanship, but the toro was even better, smooth, rich, and a tastier cut, literally, than any toro I had ever had before. The prices in the sushi side may seem high but the food is so satisfying you savor each bite. I took three people for a full two hour dinner, including sake for one, wine for another, and cocktails for the third, for less than $150. No more trecks to the Sushi Nazi in Richardson.

Wonderful Surprise

By KNV_tamu |

Visiting Dallas and my son recommended drinks at the Mercury since he said they had the best martinis in Dallas. We drove to a restaurant/bar in a shopping area of Preston Road and he was correct, the martinis were fabulous. They were so good we decided to have another and asked our wives to join us there for dinner. The meals were a totally delightful surprise. Everyone is our party had something different and each meal received very high praises. I had the crisped salmon and it rivaled the excellent seafood of Charleston SC. Simply outstanding. My wife had the filet and said it was the best steak she has had in a restaurant. The Mercury will certainly be on my return list the next time we are in Dallas.

Sushi by Mercury

By kwax30 |

Not my favorite sushi in Dallas. Meet up with a couple friends as a going away farewell dinner. The ambience is great, but the sushi was not great. It was expensive for what we got. First we got a seaweed salad, it had no flavor and needed salt or some acid badly. I ordered the maguro sushi and a short shell crab rool. Nothing to rave about. Again lacked flavor. The maguro was a very very small piece of fish. Ended the night with bread pudding, it was dry, chewy and cherry sauce was bland. Skip the sushi.

First visit

By Jeff B |

Atmosphere, service and staff were excellent. Food: ?!?! Was this a bad night for the kitchen or ? Duck was as dry as jerky. Under the heat lamps too long or ? Lamb was tasteless w polenta that was like a rock; described as "soft". Packed w customers so I can't only think this was bad luck for us. Beautiful place I must say.

Love the sushi bar

By mshbnyehud |

If you're ready to dine indoors for exceptional sushi in a packed wonderful high energy north Dallas location, the Mercury sushi bar is top notch. Service is exceptional and the sushi itself is divine. Loved the basic salmon and tuna roll, and most especially the Hawaiian Poke Bowl - oh so flavorful. We went on a Saturday night just wanting a snack, and could have eaten so much more. Every dish was so tasty. From a strict value perspective, you will pay a bit of a premium for this upscale atmosphere, but quality of food/service more than justifies it.

Excellent

By GABJMB |

The Mercury doesn't look like much from the outside- hidden in a shopping plaza. But the food and service were excellent from appetizers and drinks right through dessert.

Pricey Mother's Day

By DinoKazi |

Reserved through open table. Did not check the price for the buffet. $59 for very ordinary fare. Salads, tired fruit, a few entrees, a handful of desserts. $10 mimosas. Very overpriced for what was offered.

Excellent food

By AnitaS353 |

Started with an egg custard cavier and the crab dip which were good. We ordered the black cod and a side of mushrooms for our entrees. The mushrooms were fantastic! The cod which came on a bed of bok choy and asparagus with a miso glaze was outstanding as well. The atmosphere is full of enery and, the service was right on. I definitely recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent food, ok service

By Bryan |

We ate dinner here one night. The food was great with many options to choose from. Drink pairings available. We were very surprised at how nice this place was being in shopping center. Air lock at the front door makes it more quiet. The waiter wasn't super friendly but still professional.

Outstanding Dinner

By MariaEllizaneth |

Had the pleasure of dining at Mercury a few days ago while spending the weekend in Dallasfor the SMU Parents Weekend. It was fabulous. Our evening started off with pate served with the bread and that alone was quite delicious. Dinner was even better - the salmon was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a terrific melange of seafood and vegetables. The scallops were amazing as well and so was the lamb shank. Although the chicken was fine, it was the only dish that did not compare to the excellence of the others. All in all, it was a great dining experience and we expect to definitely return the next time we are in Dallas.

Worse customer service ever!!!!

By Maya b |

I was at The Mercury tonight celebrating my birthday with my family. This was my second time at the restaurant and was really excited about going back. I praised food and service and unfortunately my experience tonight was terrible. We waited a while for the food and when I got my dessert I inadvertently touched the small cup inside the plate that was holding my dessert and burned two fingers. I thought it was a cold dessert because the plate was cold and the waiter didn't said anything. Unfortunately the small cup inside the plate holding the dessert was not. I later learned that the cup inside the plate was in the oven for 20 minutes at 400F. I didn't make a big deal out of it and thought it was kind of funny but I still asked the waiter to bring me some ice to avoid blisters on my fingers. The waiter decided to inform the managr who came over and "lectured" me on how to eat dessert and made it very clear how "stupid" I was in touching the plate. I was shocked to ear his comments. He showed poor customer service and manners. The people next to our table were listening and were shocked too. Before we left, I decided to go talk to him and share my disappointment about his behavior. He looked at me like I was a class B citizen and took off. He ruined my birthday and definitely any chance for me to even consider going back. Worse experience I’ve ever had.

Outstanding food and service

By Traveleasy |

The entree I ordered (salmon) was delicately flavored and not overdone with an accompanying jus that was terrific. Service was excellent - not too intrusive yet very attentive

Lunch at the Mercury

By CatherineDallas_TX |

We had a very enjoyable long lunch complete with drinks and dessert. Our service was also exceptional. I had the shrimp and crab salad with a must have side of their mac and cheese. I could get hooked on that alone. Not so impressed with the dessert but ate all of it. We will be returning. A very enjoyable experience.

Outstanding

By Kristen H |

We had a group dinner for a work function for around 30 people. They placed us in a private room. The atmosphere was cozy. The service was fabulous and the food was delicious. My favorite was a pork taco appetizer (that I don't see on the menu). The filet was amazing too.

Great Seafood

By Jay Patel |

We were craving seafood so decided to come here. This restaurant is located on a strip mall with bunch of other restaurants. The place is clean and nicely decorated. We were seated right away on comfortable chairs. For appetizer we had Sashimi of yellow tail which was tasty. Our server suggested we try Peppered crusted Tuna Mignon. It was a nice size, delicious and flavorful. All in all our food was great and we will return again!

FUN and Delicious Restaurant for Adults!!

By Lexibelle |

This place is a tried and true place that we always like to return to when have a fun, adult evening with our dear friends. The food is always on point and the ambiance is very mature and fun. We started with the DELICIOUS foie gras as an appetizer. My girlfriend and I split the special King Crab legs, the guys ordered steaks, one a filet another a rib eye. We shared the cream spinach side as well as mushrooms. Delicious as always!! The Martini's are really good and BIG! Our waiter, Jeff was great and very personable and engaging. We acknowledged that since it's so hard to get really good food servers at the moment. We took pictures but unfortunately they were all out of focus, trust me, this place is a legit guaranteed good time, don't take Kids here!!

Always Solid

By seriousdiver |

A classic business lunch place, old-school dark and a little noisy. Maybe the best hamburgers in Dallas weekday lunches only. Dinner great also, fried chicken is a classic.

Supreme sushi

By Cabin m |

Didn't expect the great sushi. We kept ordering more. Next time, we'll sit on the sushi side. Steak and seafood entrees were excellent. Fun people watching place.

Good, But Expensive

By Joe H |

We participated in the rare Thanksgiving buffet at The Mercury. While the buffet was very traditional the expense was too high for a an everyday Thanksgiving meal. Wait staff had to be asked for everything...tea, water, butter, bread , etc. Our seating turned out to be in the "Sushi side" of the restaurant, and no tablecloths. This reminded me of the Chinese restaurant in the Christmas Story movie. Mercury is overrated.

A special dinner, as always

By Kaptx |

The two of us attended a champagne dinner last night and loved it. A delightful flight of champagnes. A five course meal featuring a spring roll with shrimp, poke, bison steak, and short rib, all finishing with a butterscotch brownie with ice cream. All excellent. The usual outstanding service. Will continue to go to the Mercury. Nice job Chris. JLP.

Great food!

By Hines V |

My wife and I were in town for a funeral, and she wanted to go to her "favorite restaurant". She did not need to nag much, because it is my favorite too. She had the halibut, and I had the foi gras appetizer and the duck breast and duck confit. They were all wonderful. The service is always good, and the maitre de goes over backward to ensure you have a great table. Chef and owner Cris ward came over to check on and welcome us. As we left, we both agreed that it is still our favorite in Dallas.

Excellent service and food

By Kaptx |

First, excellent service by Tanner. Second, a good bread opener with fresh butter and pate. As to entrees, the sliders as an entree with a side of fries. Also, the filet with a side of onion rings. Both entrees were cooked to order and very plentiful. Finally, great valet parking.

Disappointed

By DallasPaza |

Nice atmosphere, elegant attentive service. Menu has a good choice of appetizes, salads and entrees. The seasoning of the dishes does not represent the level one would expect from this class of restaurant. We live in the neighborhood and have eaten here many times since the restaurant opened usually reserving it for more special occasions due to the atmosphere and price. Last week we ordered the candiedpecan and blue cheese salad and the black cod and the scallops(special). The salad tasted salty with the pecan mushy insttead of crisp. The scallops were pretty with above average flavor...slighltly overcooked. They were atop a potato cake which was flavorless and the sauce had no complexity what soever. The black cod which is raved about in revues was spiced well but fishy and needed some startch on the plate, perhaps rice. Overall quite disappointing for entrees btween 30 and 40 dollars and a salad for 12.

Poor service

By Harmony5757 |

Went there with friends ate in the bar the waiter was not attentive it was like we were an in convenience. This is not the first time but will probably be the last as we will not go back. It's to bad the food is pretty good each time but poor service in the bar.

Thanksgiving Dinner

By Sairstrip |

Excellent. This was our 4th year and it was as great as ever. Thanks Chris Ward for keeping up the tradition.

the chef owner will come out and yell at you for no extra charge

By TravelLikeaStar |

Its in the neighborhood and I have eaten here many times and never thought much of it.But on this occassion the service was so bad that we (2 people)finished a bottle of wine before the food finally came out and it was cold. The manager was too embarassed to talk about it so Chris Ward (the owner chef) came out of the Kitchen to yell at me and tell me that I was wrong , my food wasnt cold. i would never go back.

Lovely lunch

By sablatt |

I had lunch with two friends, and we were all very happy. While it probably shouldn't come first, the service was *so* nice I have to comment on it. I had the wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil. They make their risotto with a bit more bite than I prefer, but that didn't keep me from delighting in every bit of it. The truffle oil was just a hint, but the yummy mushrooms (a nice variety, not just criminis and shiitakes) provided umami enough for anyone. My companions had the Mercury salad and the tuna ziziki (sp?) salad, and they were more than satisfied. Portions were sizable, but not too much. Really, it was a perfect lunch and very reasonable. We sat in the back room because we'd never have been able to hear each other in the front.

Excellent as usual

By Kaptx |

As usual, the service (Tanner) and the food was outstanding. Got an appetizer of onion rings. For entrees, had the sliders with fries and the beef tartare. All were excellent. The complimentary bread with butter and pate was a good starter. Easy parking, and there is valet.

Great Experience!

By Drocket |

My group of three stumbled on The Mercury through Open Table. The restaurant is large and well decorated. We were seated promptly on a busy Friday night. All of ordered a sea food entree: Black Cod, Halibut and Crispy Salmon. Each was perfectly prepared and really delicious! The platings were beautiful and creative. In spite of some negative comments regarding service, our server Jesse was one of the most professional waiters I've ever had. He expertly explained each dish when asked, attended the table without being annoying (even stepping back waiting for conversations to conclude before approaching). Somebody trained this guy really well. If your concerned about service, ask for his section! This is a must return restaurant for me the next time I am in Dallas!

A Bit of NYC in Dallas

By LONGISLAND001 |

This fine restaurant located in a small strip mall surprised me. The ambiance and service is much like older established NYC restaurants we have patronized over many year. Polite and attentive staff were not intrusive but efficient. Despite its old line demeanor however the food @ The Mercury was very modern, well prepared and diverse. My lentil soup was outstanding and the tuna steak prepared perfectly medium rare. The rest of my party had various dishes from chicken to a braised lamb shank my wife continues to rave about. When you're in Dallas go a little north and enjoy The Mercury

Great place for an occassional visit but needs some tweeking.

By Steve G |

Nice bar area. Drinks are on the $$$ side. Wine list is high end too. So if your going, expect sticker shock. Food list is nice but expensive. $40 for filet and off the chart for specials. Restuaruant been there about 16 years. Chef/owner cooked for ex-president George Bush Jr while in the whitehouse but I think he needs to tweak the food a bit. Last time there which was about 3 years ago, thought food was better. Still a nice experience but a little unforgetable.

Excellent meal and service

By Kaptx |

Outstanding table service by Tony, our waiter. Also, valet parking in a busy parking lot. A good complimentary bread basket with fresh butter and pate. The filets were cooked perfectly and to order. The sides were great, being the fries, onion rings and the creamed spinach. The coconut/chocolate sauce soufflé was perfectly done. All in all, an excellent evening

Father's day brunch

By Kaptx |

Simply Nicely done. Good menu and as always nice service. The eggs Benedict, fish and chips, and the crabmeat hash were all very well done. The appetizer of pimento cheese topped with crisped ham shared by the four of us was a delightful surprise.

DO THE BAR!

By Mark M |

The Bar at Mercury is our stand by when we can't decide where to go. Doug has been there forever and has our drinks to us before the seats are warm! We like to nosh through the appetizers (best sliders in north Dallas & Steak tartar is old school real deal!) & the sushi which is amazing! Low seating is a bit awkward for eating, but super cozy for chilling and drinking!

Meh

By SammyHam |

We went to the Mercury for a dinner with my inlaws. It is a lovely environment, dark and intimate...we found the service to be uneven. Great and conscientious in the beginning, but lagging after entrees were delivered. There was too much time between the salad and entree...which had us reaching for the yummy bread and butter...the salads were fantastic...featured sole was outstanding, as was the salmon...enjoyable evening, but a little too loud and time between courses was a bit long...seems like they have a lot of regulars from the surroundibg neighborhoods..

Shabby interior, uninspiring food

By Erica P |

The menu I previewed online seemed promising and so did the pictures. Yet, the real experience is nothing close to what was portrayed. The interior is too dark and too shabby, just feels old and uncared for. I was with a group of six and none of our dishes were anything above average. And there was much to be desired from the presentation.

A bit noisy but great food

By Al E E |

I have been there several times and the food is always fantastic. It can get noisy though, especially around the bar. Always great servcie and an ever-changing menu. Highly recommended!

Good food and service

By Cici |

I’ve been here several times and it is always good. The shrimp and grits were excellent. As well as the compressed watermelon salad. I highly recommend

Restaurant Week let down

By Kelly H |

We had high hopes to finish out RW on a high note... We were seated in the "RW" room which had no ambiance and was freezing cold, and our waiter definitely seemed to rush us as has been commented earlier. The compressed melon salad was the only shining star. Cracklin Chicken and dumpling was over spiced. The "special" course was over powered by a stale tortilla. Entree's were OK, a little over cooked and very cookie cutter. Dessert, I had one bite and was underwhelmed. So disappointing - clearly this restaurant is not thinking that RW week is to gain new customers, just a pain their you know what.

Professional service in elegant atmosphere

By GirlfriendsBeachHouse |

Had The Mercury salad today during a business lunch. Great, attentive service accompanied an average salad. A bit pricey.. but it felt like a lot of "old money" on the place. Older crowd. Pretty interior design.

Disappointing -- will not return

By wirepaladin08 |

Friends had told us that the Mercury was back on its game so we decided to give it a shot. Big mistake. The "signature" halibut dish was tasteless and bland. The kobe pork chop was tough. They didn't have the first two wines we ordered but had the third. Of course, they said that they "had just run out" of the first two. Service was average at best. We ordered what we did at the recommendation of the waiter. That didn't help my impression of the service. There aren't many restaurants where I just won't go back -- but this is one of them.

Excellent Dinner Experience - highly recommend

By Mohsman |

This is an excellent restaurant. Formal place settings, contemporary decor, very prompt, attentive service and excellent food. I especially liked the fresh bread served with a pate spread and butter. The servers were remarkably prompt in refilling both bread and spreads whenever they ran low. All of the entrees were excellent, with the possible exception of the compressed watermelon salad - where the gorgonzola cheese was a bit overpowering - but the concept of compressed watermelon was great. The other salads, blackened cod with miso, the lamp shank and the braised short rib appetizer were all simply excellent. We had a wonderful dining experience and our guests (who are locals) said that our experience was typical - typically excellent.

Not Inclined to Return

By Rich B |

My girlfriend and I had dinner here last night with another couple. The consensus was that the food wasn’t very good, particularly considering the prices charged. My friends both had the lamb shank, and while the portions were large, it was felt the lamb was undercooked and not very tender. We,on the other hand, had meat which was overcooked. Our waiter had assured us our pork chop could be cooked medium, but when served to was well done and extremely dry.

Excellent venue

By Moira M |

Attended a business meeting followed by dinner in a private room. Service throughout was excellent. Fixed menu dinner was excellent; service geat; plenty of hors d'oeuvres to begin, well presented and well cooked dinner. The main restaurant was very dimly lit however and not sure I could have read the menu or seen what I was eating in there, but the lighting in the private room was nice and bright.

It's all about the food!

By Jean S |

My husband and I wanted a night out at a fine restaurant, so we chose The Mercury. This was his first time and my second, although it had been many years since I had had an excellent lunch there. (Glad to see the place has longevity!) When we arrived for our 7pm reservation on a Wednesday evening, the parking valet was by the my door within 5 seconds. Inside, the place was 90% full, lively but not loud. We had no problem conversing over our table without having to raise our voices above the level we would use at home. The table was nicely appointed, sparkly and starched, and the overall ambiance was conducive with enjoying a nice relaxing, tasty meal. The wait staff, was adept, quick and attentive. Our head server quietly kept a hawk-eye on our progress throughout our two hour meal and flawlessly kept to our pace without interrupting us at every moment. We started with cocktails that were balanced (measured out correctly, not just sloshed together), and munched on some slices fresh baguette. Regarding the food, each and every dish was executed flawlessly. The first thing about food being appetizing to me is how it is presented. Our two starters and our two entrees arrived at our table looking beautiful: appropriately sized portions arranged attractively and imaginatively, colorful, fresh, and on sparkling plates. First we shared the seared shrimp (expertly cooked, respecting the ingredient); the grits were lovely! (I'd like that recipe) and the flavors of the shrimp, the grits, the seasonings and garnish were absolutely balanced. Next we shared the compressed watermelon with Point Reyes cheese and prosciutto. Again, beautifully prepared and presented. My husband is a big fan of blue cheeses, but I like just a little at a time. We both thought this particular cheese was a little overwhelming of the watermelon from a flavor-balance perspective. Which is not to say we left anything on the plate. I wonder what it would taste like with a more pungent melon. The prosciutto was probably superfluous in the dish. Our entrees arrived together in the same excellent condition as the starters. I had the pepper-crusted tuna and my husband had the black cod. Both fishes were expertly prepared, again, respecting the ingredient. The black pepper on the tuna very coarsely cracked and very fresh, and for my palate, a little too pungent for the flavor of the tuna, although I realize different people have different tolerance levels for fresh cracked black pepper. My husband's black cod was cooked with a miso glaze. The miso was a good foil to the richness of the black cod, the flavors pairing well. The miso glaze could use just a touch less sweetness. The vegetables were cooked just right. To accompany our meal, we each had two glasses of a California Chardonnay (Newton Red Label???), a very nice wine, albeit too fruity for accompanying the quality meal we were served. It would be nice to have the choice of a Bordeaux style wine by the glass, a more balanced table wine like the French make. We finished up with cappuccinos, made with lovely, fresh coffee beans. I would rank the Mercury as one of the finer restaurants in the city, well worth the trip from the outer suburbs.

Excellent lunch and service by Tanner

By Kaptx |

My wife and two ladies had lunch today at the Mercury, as served perfectly by Tanner. Two house salads (full of seafood) and the best burger around, including another burger for takeout. Nice starter bread with butter. Good and diverse wine list. Valet parking available with the best valet captain around. All in all, the best restaurant in North Dallas, bar none.

Always excellent

By Joe B |

We dine here often. We enjoy the dining room once a month or a little more often and we enjoy eating in the excellent bar once every other week or so. The food is always prepared very well, the service is timely and accurate, and we enjoy the atmosphere too. While the outside says strip shopping center the inside is very nice. Aloy the valet attendant brings a smile to everyone he greets and you can’t help feeling better just by dropping off your car with him. Very good choice for an important business meal, a special occasion, or just general dining in a fine dining establishment.

Great lunch, and service

By Kaptx |

Three of us had lunch at the Mercury. Excellent meal and service by Tanner. Had the Swiss and mushroom burger. Great burger cooked to order. Had the house salad with seafood. Again, excellent. Finally the salmon which our guest throughly enjoyed. Good bread and butter. Valet parking. One of the best restaurants in North Dallas.

Great place for a celebration!

Great ambience inside. Don't let the fact that it's located in a strip shopping center. Our party had a person in a wheelchair and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Service was excellent as you would expect in fine dining. Great food. It is expensive, especially when you order from the wine list. But - when you have a special evening, money isn't the deciding factor

Nice Dining Experience

By Parlez-vous1 |

My visit to this restaurant was in April. I had been to this restaurant only one time previously so I was excited to return. I was not disappointed. Delicious food and a nice atmosphere. I did find it a bit overpriced for what you get. Will return again.

Haute cuisine in a shopping center

By LBN2013 |

Great takes on old time favorites. Warm atmosphere, dedicated service, delicious food and good bar. Valet parking helps too!

I have never been in a restaurant that smelled so horrible!

By Golfer106 |

I could not finish my lunch today because of the stench of sewer that seemed to be everywhere in the restaurant! I will never go back in the Mercury again. This is the second time in a year that this has happened! First time it might have been a isolated instance. The second time a serious problem! They need to close until they can get it fixed!

A True Dining Experience

By Michael B |

Despite the plethora of great restaurants in Houston (home), this venerable North Dallas restaurant should not be missed! Not only is the food exceptional but, from beginning to end, the diner is made to feel that the staff appreciates your interest in having a totally unforgettable evening. The servers are knowledgeable, efficient and eager to please without being obsequious. Our waiter, Gerardo, was the epitome of this attitude. A newly chilled Martini glass midway through your current one is such a nice touch that it serves to confirm all I’ve said.

Dining with a fan.....

By Stoup |

We went to The Mercury with a friend who loves this place...she was a regular. So, expectations were high and we weren't disappointed. What we were most excited about was the wine list.....some great wines and vintages well chosen and the unusual thing, well priced. There nothing more that ruins my dinner, even if the food is fine, than an overpriced common wine list. The food enhances the wine and vice versa which all lead to a great dining experience. The steaks were some of the best in Dallas and I enjoyed an excellent Halibut with a beurre blanc sauce with tiny veggies that created a bed for the fish. We trying the caviar egg that was a simple presentation but for me the caviar was a little common and salty. The foil gras was excellent. The bread is also top notch served with a wonderful pate. I gave it four stars because our waiter was good and our room which was off to the side of the main dining area for really hot. I think this is the caliber of place that you can always count on consistency and high quality ingredients.

Intimate Birthday Dinner with friends

By sjandrews |

On someone's 60th birthday, also on Valentine's Day, we enjoyed dinner here as a party of eight. We were seated inside an alcove, and never rushed or hurried on such a popular date night. The wine list was lovely and everyone ordered something different and everyone enjoyed it, from duck breasts to halibut to ribeyes. Desserts also outstanding and we passed them all around to share.

A long time Dallas restaurant continues to impress

By JParlante |

My first visit here and I was impressed. Although I didn't have a big appetite, I noticed everyone cleaning their plates. They have a very impressive wine list and an experienced and friendly service staff. Can't wait to return and eat some of the food!

Who knew?

My office is located close to The Mercury in Dallas. I have been there many times for a business lunch and was not disappointed. However, the meal usually was a salad and a glass of iced tea...not very demanding. :-) This evening my wife was primarily interested in touring their private dining area for an upcoming wedding rehearsal dinner. The restaurant is very much a throwback to earlier times. It appeared to me very much like the private dinner club dining rooms of the early 80's...a lot of dark wall covering, heavy furniture, and leather. My wife described it as a scene from The Godfather movie! :-) Regardless, the food and the service were just fine. No complaints at all. The server was genuinely concerned because he heard me tell my wife I was looking forward to my meal. I described it but it was not the meal I ordered! My bad. I appreciated his concern about my confusion and also the gentle way he handled the whole matter. I will go back to The Mercury and urge all to give it a try. We are still considering their private dining area for the wedding rehearsal dinner.

Very impressed.

By reasonover |

Tucked in a Preston Forest shopping center, The Mercury is a classy joint dimly lit. Clientele are wealthy locals. There is a long bar area, main dining area, and a private room for events. Lighting is dim, with black and white photos hanging from twine on the soft walls. This is place to take some very important clients, or a very special someone. The service is impeccable. The cuisine is new upscale seafood and steaks. I started with the mushroom soup, which was fantastic. The Veal Milanaise was a little salty for my taste, but good nonetheless. The creme brûlée was better than most. The chefs have great timing. Everything comes out at the same time when expected. My guests enjoyed it. The wine list is extensive; plenty of wines by glass. If you're having a little to drink and having a three course meal, expect to spend about 75-100 dollars per person including tip. I would definitely come again.

Great wine, nice bar and great food. Local place and it was recommended to us by the Cooper convention and spa!

Good, fine dining.

Excellent, creative food, good service. Humbly nestled in a strip mall.

Very Nice Wine Bar for Addison

By michaeld8f |

Decent selection of wines and the food is above average. A little pricey but what do you expect for a wine bar. Also, I have 20/20 vision and it's still hard to see inside. They keep it dark, very very dark.

Really nice, not too complicated food. Excellent dessert soufflé

By Debra Z |

I dined here twice in my four day stay in Dallas. My hosts are very good friends of the chef so I met him and he was friendly and unpretentious, like his menu. It's a little dark and a little loud when the main dining room is crowded, but the food outweighs any negatives.

Excellent service and food

By Kaptx |

First, a starter of warm bread with butter and pate. For appetizers, we shared the tiglionia dish which was enough for two. Very creamy and the pasta was cooked well. Had the filet which was perfectly cooked and the sliders as an entree. The spinach and frites sides were excellent and more than enough for two. Great drinks. Excellent service by Tony. Valet parking. A great night out overall.

Disturbing customer service

By Athena N |

The Mercury has gone downhill. We have been regulars at the Mercury sushi bar since it opened several years ago since the original sushi chef Roger was there. We have continued to to go regularly since Mathew has continued running it. Three weeks ago, on September 24th, we were treated very badly by one of the managers. This was beyond disappointing because we love the sushi, employees, and have great memories. We were watching the football game and then it randomly changed to tennis. We asked what happened and the waitress wasn't sure and got the manager. The manager said "our customer wanted to watch tennis." We explained that we had been watching football and changing mid game wasn't appropriate. He said the game was on in the bar and we could watch it there. My husband explained that we had just opened our bottle of wine and were already eating so we had no interested in moving. He said "You are not welcome here. Do not come back." The sommelier was shocked, knowing we are regulars, and asked me what he could do to make me happy. I told him that my husband just wanted to watch football and the manager said "Let them go. They are trash. We don't need them." He looked at me up and down with disgust. It felt very icky. This was beyond shocking and quiet upsetting. I wrote a letter to Lisa Clark at M Crowd Restaurant Group and haven't heard back. I gave her a few weeks. As a former restaurant owner, know things are busy, but would have responded by now. We will not ever return.

Birthday party

Service terrible. Food was so so and we didn't big bucks there and of the ten in our party nobody liked the food nor the service. I often hear how wonderful it is but we must have hit an off night. It was not a good experience!!

Needs a "facelift"

By Marco A Giardiello |

Undoubtly the food is good. A little bit on the old french cuisine side. The service is good and friendly. The location, well, not that good. The facade and the interior decoration, needs an urgent "facelift"

Great meal at a lively restaurant.

By William S |

Was visiting Dallas and had dinner at The Mercury. Great choice - excellent service and food. It was the night before Valentines and very busy with a good crowd. We had a reservation and were seated immediately - knowledgeable waiter stopped by shortly thereafter. Had drinks, appetizers and dinner. Great selection of entrees and apps - with an asian twist option. Extensive drink and wine options. I went with the *cracklin chicken" - a pan seared chicken breast on a potato puree with asparagus - out of this world. Expensive, but consistent with better restaurants in Dallas. I will visit again.

Great Presentation

By mavfan59 |

The fish here is particularly good. I love everything I've ever eaten here. It has been a while since I've visited, so it's time for a trip to Mercury.

Excellent food & service - Black Cod!!

By Jeremy L |

The Mercury has both excellent food and service. Our waiter did a tremendous job being attentive to our large party. The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The Black Cod with miso is a highly recommended item. The Mercury also has great upscale burgers for lunch. Check this place out.

An excellent dinner for four

By Kaptx |

A great dinner with great atmosphere and service. Highlighting again... Perfect service. Had sliders as an appetizer. A fun starter that cab made for four. Nice salads. The filets were perfectly cooked and the veal was very good as was the salmon. Ended with a very good creme brûlée and an excellent souffle. Chris Ward's team does it well.

Lost it's luster... so sad

By michael m |

This location has been a local favorite for years. Our experience today was disappointing. She had the shrimp and grits for lunch (normally a dinner item, but prepared on request for lunch). She proclaimed it delicious and ate every bite. I had the muffelato. I arrived toasty on the outside and refrigerator col on the inside...so sad. The skinny onion rings looked great, but were stone cold. We asked the waiter several questions about the menu...he either did not know, or did not care. So sad. The highlight of the meal was the valet parking attendant.

Bar staff terrible

By Stacy C |

We have been going to Mecury off and on for years. We recently moved to the neighborhood and excited to reacquaint ourselves With a true Dallas establishment. While the food and drinks are great I have never felt so degraded in my life. In the bar area the waiter was short, abrupt and down right rude to us. We moved into the sushi bar and had great service and excellent sushi. Complained to the manager about the service in the bar area and got a free dessert, ok. He was a little patronizing but ok. Went back recently to have the same waiter talk about us behind the bar with the tall balding bar manager. Never felt so uncomfortable in my life. Maybes Mercury is not welcoming to the gay community. The waiter as I tried to smooth things over refused to apologize and made it even more uncomfortable. He bar manager also did not even make an effort. Our friends who were. With us could not believe what they were seeing. We asked for the manager again and was patronized again. Sad as we use to love going to this place, instead we closed our tab and walked down to Dough and had a great meal with great service. Shame on you Mercury.

Service was not a strong point.

By billp25 |

This was my second visit. First time sat in the steak-house part and had a 5 star experience. This time tried the sushi. Bottom line, next time we will sit in the steak-house area but order the sushi. Fish was all very good. Well executed, well prepared. Some of the dishes I found a bit unbalanced, but this could be my palate and yours may be different. Prices were reasonable for the fish quality. Some of the menu items were misleading - for example the "copper river salmon" roll was not made with copper river salmon, but rather farmed New Zealand Salmon. Two things to note (1) the servers have no idea about the food they are serving. They truly need to be educated so that every single question doesn't require running to the sushi chef to ask. Or, what was worse, a few times making up answers that upon further review (after pressing them a bit) turned out to be made up. (2) Service wasn't on the same quality as in the steak house. On that side, I actually felt like they were overstaffed. On the Sushi side, clearly understaffed. Water glasses remained empty, I had to go up to the sushi bar to get the wasabi for our nigiri and sashimi. Drinks were delivered very slowly and to only 1/2 our party at a time. For $175/pp this isn't a cheap place, so I'm sure they can afford a bit more attention here.

A home run

By Kaptx |

A grest place to dine. Chris and his team knock it out of the park. Be it the filet, sea bass, or just the sliders with great fries. Casual, but elegant. Great service.

Very Special

By glenagrit |

One of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. Special BDay dinner for my brother in law and they did a great job. Server was good at the table. Food was outstanding. Consistently great from beginning to end. High quality service and quality of food. Go to place for special occasions.

Best lava cake

By Lulu |

Went there with colleagues for lunch and order steak Dianne (steak with mushrooms cooked in brandy sauce) and served with onion rings (it comes with French fries but you can get onion rings instead). It was absolutely delicious! The best part was to finish the meal with lava cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream! It was not too sweet and the warm chocolate sauce flowing out from the cake was yummy! The coffee was so so - that's probably the low light of the meal

Book club gathering.

By Jackie F |

My book club members dined at and had our Christmas celebration there in January because of our schedules December was not good. Fourteen of us were seated in the Monarch Room where we each ordered delicious meals. I had cavier and egg for an appetizer that my fellow members squeak at but I thoroughly enjoy. I had duck as my entree that I also enjoyed,. I'm going back for sushi one day.

Excellent Experience

By LPF |

We had dinner and drinks at the Mercury last Friday. We started the evening at the bar. The bartenders were attentive and very professional. We were given an assortment of snacks to enjoy with our drinks, and I noticed that as each customer left, the snacks were removed and replaced with new ones rather than just refilling the bowls. Once we sat at our table, the waiter and back waiters took care of every question or request we had. My husband had a chicken dish, and I had fish. Both of our meals were well prepared and delicious! It was an excellent evening.

Nice atmosphere - Thought the food was average - nothing special - but very good sercie

By KellerWags |

Picked this spot based on previous TA reviews. It's in a stip mall - the food is OK, nothing great - the Sushi is good - not great - the service we had was very good. We all ordered different food and it was all just OK.

Consistently good

They are great for lunch or dinner . The menu is fun to read as you want everything . There is great variety . It can get a little noisy ...Great fish. does need a little updating but you can overlook ...nice deserts ..They have great soufflés .

Classic fancy cuisine

By LTtravels2003 |

Very lovely pace tucked into an unassuming older "strip mall". Much bigger on the inside - dark and wood paneling. Good classic American cuisine; very helpful waitstaff.

Excellent as usual

By Kaptx |

A regular for the two of us. It was outstanding as always. Great service by Tanner. Very easy valet parking. Very good complimentary bread and butter/pate. For a starter, shared the tagliolini . Very large, rich and delicious. For entrees, the chicken fried steak with potatoes and the cod were both excellent. Good wine list. We will continue to return.

Always top notch!

By Hines V |

I have been visiting and eating in Dallas for over 50 years. Good restaurant scone an go. But, this is one of the best in Dallas! The food is consistently great and the service is unexcelled. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fine meal.

Excellent, as usual

By Kaptx |

With an in law, the two us visited the Mercury. Free valet parking and all around great service (Tony). Very good appetizers, beef tartar, the shrimp and grits and the outstanding beet salad. For entrees, the filet cooked to order, very good salmon and the sliders and frites as an entree. A good wine list, though a bit expensive. All in all, a great meal

Good choice for nice dinner

By Jane G |

We've been here several times. Food is dependable...always good. We went on Feb. 13.....Valentine weekend so it was busy when we arrived. Had res and was seated immediately but service was very slow. Had the halibut and hubby had the salmon. Both were prepared well. Would go back again.

Not the old Mercury

By Yourtime |

We were disappointed to find this another load, trendy restaurant now when visiting this past Friday night. The good food and great atmosphere of the past is just another restaurant in the long list of chef's making food for presentation rather than taste and enjoyment. I know things change but this one is one that is sad.

Decent food; poor service

By Robbi L |

I was very excited to be going to Mercury with a group of friends. I had heard about it and was looking forward to a great meal there. When I opened the menu, I was further excited - lots of wonderful selections - I decided to bring my husband soon. Then it all went south. We asked our waiter about some of the dishes for clarification - he didn't know - had to go ask someone - multiple times for multiple questions. One woman did not want the topping on her steak. It came with the topping to which the waiter replied - "I tried". So what does that mean? The chef won't alter his dishes? Another is allergic to onions and had told the waiter. Her dish came with a shaving of something on top - could have been a lot of things including onion but the waiter didn't know. So was this a case of a poor waiter - yes and no - the manager was standing observing much of this and never intervened or apologized or did anything to help. My tuna steak was nicely done, but lacked flavor. And then at the end of the meal the waiter passed out dessert menu's. When he finally returned to take our orders he brought the checks? I guess he didn't want to serve dessert or coffee. We paid and left. I know this place gets rave reviews, but the manager's indifference to the service we were getting was unsettling. I don't think I will give it another chance, there are lots of other great restaurants nearby.

Always good

By Mary Alice M |

I had lunch there today with my law partner. I had the Mercury Salad and it was good. I couldn't eat it all, so I brought some home. My partner had the sashimi yellow tail tuna slices with salad. He loved it. We had made reservations which was good because it was full. The parking lot was full too, so we used the valet.

lukewarm buffet

By greyfox90 |

We decided to eat out this past Thanksgiving. We were in Dallas and heard some good things about the Mercury. The service was great. That would be 5 stars for the service. But it all comes down to the food. Everything we ate was just barely warm. From the vegetables to the roast turkey. We were there before noon. so you would think everything would have been hot. Not. Disappointed. We would not go to a buffet of theirs again.

A great evening/dinner

By Kaptx |

Four of us had a beautiful night highlighted by a great dinner. Three had filets which were cooked to order, with dynamite sauce on the side. One had the sliders as an entree. Also, excellent. Appetizer was shrimp and grits. The shrimp was seasoned well and the grits nicely done. For dessert, the flourless chocolate cake was outstanding. As to service, Tony was the perfect waiter and the service was great. All in all, a great evening.

Excellent food and service

By Kaptx |

4 of us went to the Mercury for dinner. Excellent appetizer in the tortilini. For entrees, a perfectly cooked filet. Two orders of chicken fried filet, a new item on the menu. Also, a special of Dover sole. All were outstanding. Sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were equally as good. Great service by Tony. Valet parking.

Good Neighborhood Restaurant

By 5016DAH |

You can't tell by the strip center location, but this restaurant has a fixture for over 20 years. High End restaurant that is part of the M Group restaurants (Mi Cocina, Taco Diner). Chris Ward is still wowing customers with his innovative and creative meals. The appetizer Shrimp with jalapeno grits is wonderful! The Crispied Foie Gras is some of the best in Dallas. The service is great. MAKE RESERVATIONS!

This Review Concerns drinks in the bar

By CS1Portland |

We used to live in Dallas. We tried a few times to frequent this establishment that was in our neighbourhood. Each time we were disappointed in the "snooty" service. Even when we went in for dinner with a frequent business diner, the service was "aloof". Upon a recent trip to Dallas we have friends who wanted to meet us here as he too was a frequent business diner. In the bar again with a $200 bill we were served with "rude arrogance" from a very young bartender. I fail to understand the owner/manager who encourages this elite "club" service mentality in a neighbourhood restaurant & bar. Clearly it has not changed these 10+ years. This has always been an expensive establishment, which is not my point. $24 for a large Dewars and soda for example. There is too much competition too many choices in Dallas. I don't see us ever giving this place another chance for better service attitude.

great food at Mercury

By bob k |

Returned for another wonderful meal. The atmosphere is subdued and relaxing. The appetizers are so varied and delicious, you can make a meal just eating those. The service if friendly and attentive to your every need. They just changed the wine list, with some nice choices. I can't wait to go back.

Exceptional!

By Kevin M |

Exquisite dishes prepared by artist, Chris Ward. We go for special occasions including the few brunches they host throughout the year Easter, Mother's Day and Thanksgiving. World class food prepared in an elegant, relaxed atmosphere. Don't miss cocktails at the bar with Big Bob.

Outstanding food and service

By Kaptx |

5 across the board. The service (Tony) was perfect. Very professional. For appetizers, had the shrimp and grits (shrimp was perfectly spiced) and the wedge salad. Great starters. My filet was cooked to order and like butter. My husband had the sliders for an entree. For small burgers, juicy and enough for an entree. All in all, a great evening.

Food is great, service has slowed

By HappyTGray |

I am never disappointed when i dine here. The interior is a bit old school, but not too old school. Unfortunately, the last two or three times we had dinner here, we waited a consider amount of time between our first and second courses. They need to work on this because this place is a gem and I'd hate to put it on my "Do Not Return" list. Some of my favorite dishes are: the Pearl Couscous Carbonara (superb!), Shrimp w/ grits, and Black cod. And we can't leave without having the souffle for dessert. The strip mall location makes me feel like it's a little secret due to the contrast of exterior to the interior.

Business Lunch - OK

By LMcQ74 |

Was looking forward to trying The Mercury for a business lunch and thought the atmosphere pleasant though a little dark - perhaps better for an intimate dinner. Lunch items were a little overpriced. Service was good, but nothing was exceptional for me. I had the Mercury Salad, which was wrapped in large piece of Cobb lettuce. Again nothing to rush back for. One of my associates had a burger which was good, he said. May give the restaurant another try but this visit was disappointing.

The Mercury has a great happy hour with complimentary Pate.

By spurgeony |

Service at the Mercury was outstanding. We sat in the bar where we were able to have happy hour drinks, get a gift certificate, and order from all of the menus, including Sushi. The spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura were both excellent. The bartenders know how to make many specialty drinks, and the Mai Tai was outstanding. There are a large number of very good beer selections as well as very good house wines.

Disappointed

By Debby H |

Have been there quite a few times and food is always good. Last time it was bad and service was terrible. When we complained that the food was cold the person in charge came over and took my plate from me and walked away without saying a word and DId Not bring back hot food. When we called the owner we were even more shocked when he said what did we want him to do about it. We weren't asking for anything we just thought he should know how rude we were treated. We have traveled the world and never have we been treated so rude or embarrassed in front of a group of people. Guess if they are not busy you get treated better than when they are. Dallas has a lot of great places to eat, I would try other places.

If You Like Steak, Go to Mercury

By Bunny22314 |

I go to Dallas on business a few times a year and tried The Mercury the last time I was there and promised to return. Made reservations and had another wonderful meal. My tenderloin with crab was to die for. Fabulous. But let me tell you why I returned. The first time I went to The Mercury I was with 10 women, each of whom wanted something different. One wanted a full meal, another only wanted a cocktail, another wanted wine and an appetizer...you get the picture. And, everyone wanted separate checks. Never in my life have I been waited on in a place that treated the whole table like VIPs regardless of what they ordered. Eric, our amazing waiter, was there with a smile on his face whether he was getting another "extra cold" Cosmo or filling a water glass. Did I mention it was all women??! When I went back recently, luck was with me because Eric was my waiter. Such a doll. Go to the Mercury, order the tenderloin with crab, and ask to be seated in Eric's section. You won't be disappointed!

Great lunch

By Kaptx |

Have been here a lot for dinner and/or special occasions, but never for lunch. Lunch was outstanding. The burger menu is excellent with a perfectly cooked burger and good sides. The fries are crisp and not greasy. I had the Mercury salad with tons of chicken, lump crab, shrimp and bacon. Great choice of dressings. Good bread for the table. The creme brûlée was very nicely done. Will return for lunch often.

An excellent meal and service

By Kaptx |

First, the service was perfect. Thanks Tony. Great shrimp appetizer and the lobster bisque. The entrees were spot on.... a perfectly cooked filet, the veal, the halibut and the sliders as an entree (the frites were outstanding). The soufflés are excellent. Great evening by Chris Ward and his team.

Chic and Wonderful

By Travelingpriest |

What a fun and delicious restraurant! The atmosphere is relaxed, but elegant. The food is superb. The most popular dish Is the Black Cod, a wonderful dish with an Asian twist. The Blackened Snapper is spicy, but not too much. I loved the Braised Short Ribs and the Shrimp with Grits. We have eaten here for several years and have never been disappointed.

Scrumptious

By disheveledprofessor |

The of us came for dinner. The bar area was very noisy,; we requested a quiet area, so we could talj, and we're seated at a round table in the back of an adjacent room, very subdued atmosphere. The wait staff were very attentive. Not to be missed is the appetizer, Caviar Egg: do good I wanted to lick the inside of the egg shell. The entire portions were of generous size. Exprnsive, but worth a splurge.

Wonderful food and service!

My husband and I had dinner at this restaurant and it was very good! The service by Chesley was wonderful! We were able to get a reservation at a very short notice.

GREAT White Table cloth eatery

By henry2209 |

We loved our evening....pate was great...bone in lamb chop beautiful and deicious...and Silver Oak Cab on the menu at a great price by the bottle..., desserts were good I am told...creme brule looked good.. the wait staff attentive, but seemed a little over burdened and rushed I would go back...and looked like a great place for a romantic evening as well.., great time overall.... Valet shuts down early...9...but valet came to tell us and leave our keys...so very thoughtful....

No a value added this time

By mshbnyehud |

I've been to Mercury a few times but the latest visit was modestly disappointing. We split 4 courses. All the food was delicious. Some portion sizes when split are just too small even though the price paid is pretty high. Wedge salad with Roquefort dressing was delicious and a decent portion for splitting. Not so with the Halibut. Looked like the split portion was only about 3 oz for each person. Perfectly cooked and delicious. Side of asparagus was 8 or 9 smallish spears. Definitely not worth the price. Bread pudding was very decent size for splitting even with 3 - 4 persons and priced fairly. Cappuccino/espresso are very over-priced. Service was much too prompt. It felt very rushed, and not a dining experience. The room had several larger sized groups making surrounding our table, making it difficult at times to hear.

Elegant dining tucked away in a shopping center

One of the best restaurants in this North Dallas area. Great food, excellent service, good wine selection. Good for business or with friends/date. Valet parking makes it easy as well.

Boring, boring, boring!

By sablatt |

I previously wrote a very positive review for the Mercury, but the dinner I just had there was a huge disappointment. We started with the Kalamata Bread Salad and the Marinated Pear and Gorgonzola Salad. The former had very thin crisps of bread, really more like crackers, and while we saw single artichoke heart leaves scattered in the salad, the only thing we could taste was olives. There was no blend or hint of flavors except when we got a large piece of feta. The Pear and Gorgonzola Salad was better, although it would have benefitted from more pears and a better quality gorgonzola. Our entrees were the Cracklin' Chicken, the Crisped Salmon and the Wild Mushroom Risotto with Truffle Oil. The best was the chicken, and it was very good, solid comfort food. The dish may not have been imaginative, but it couldn't have been better prepared. The salmon was all right, although not particularly crispy and not flavorful. Its accompanying cannelini bean ragout was nice, though. The worst was the risotto, and that was a huge disappointment because I had it before and loved it. This was the most bland dish I've tried to eat in a very long time. There was no way the three of us could have eaten more than half between us because it was so unseasoned. As for truffle oil, I think they forgot to remove the lid from the bottle. We finished with the key lime pie and lava cake. The former had almost no lime flavor, although it was texturally just right. The latter was OK. Since my husband loves lava cakes, we have them pretty often, and this one was edible, but nothing special. The service was hit and miss, also. The waitress was attentive through the entree, but then didn't come back for quite a while. When she returned, she didn't bring us dessert menus. We asked for them, and she said she would just tell us what there was so she didn't have to get the menus. It took a long time to get the check and have it processed. When I described the meal to a Dallas friend, she said that she goes to the Mercury for lunch on occasion and that the food is simply not consistent. I wouldn't spend this much on a dinner where I didn't think that the restaurant was usually consistently good.

Cleverly Hidden

By Erin O |

I have walked past this restaurant multiple times on my way to a pizza place in that same shopping center and I always thought it was a nightclub! It is cleverly hidden behind heavy doors and chic signage. The food was amazing! We had the tuna appetizer with jalepenos and ponzu sauce and it was incredible! I ordered the scallops Creole off the seasonal menu and they were cooked and flavored perfectly. For dessert we had the lava cake per the waitor's suggestion-it wasn't the best lava cake I have ever had but it was still good. Overall the ambiance and the food were spectacular and I will definitley return.

What a Treat!

By Darrell R |

We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at The Mercury and could not have been more pleased. In fact, I'd go farther than that and say we were thrilled. The inauspicious exterior might five you pause if you're not expecting it, but don't be fooled. Walk through the doors and expect to be wowed. The service was first rate and friendly from beginning to end and dinner was simply outstanding. With advance discussion, we both order the compressed watermelon as a salad. The combination of flavors was a treat to the taste buds, and the presentation was pleasing to the eye. Along the way, we also ordered from the sushi bar. We took recommendations from the executive chef and our server. We're are not eloquent in the language of sushi, but what we had involved tuna and sea bass; and I just wish I could have had more, but the main course was still to come. My wife had the mushroom risotto and she couldn't have been happier. I tasted it and just let my eyes roll back into their sockets, it was so good. In keeping with the theme of the evening, I ordered the tuna and it was just about perfect. We had drinks before dinner and the server took pride in explaining what sets their old fashioned apart from others. If you like old-school pre-dinner, cocktails, give it a try. We allowed the server to choose wine from my wife and she was very happy. For dessert, we tired the creme brulee and the molten chocolate. Both were first rate. The atmosphere is outstanding. I could have used a little more space between tables; but as busy as they are, it's understandable they need to maximize use of their square footage. To sum it up: This was an outstanding dining experience for us and this restaurant has become a high priority for us on our visits to DFW.

Consistant

Been here several times the food is right on and service had been good. I highly recommend the black cod. Second time to eat at the bar and this has been the best service to date sometimes the bar can be a little slow.

Great Easter Brunch

By Kaptx |

We have been to the Mercury many times but never for the Easter brunch. We will go again, and are looking forward to brunch on Mother's Day. I do not in general like buffets, But Chris Ward nailed it! Good food, good selection, and great service.

The go to business dinner restaurant

By Hans O |

High end restaurant, with excellent food, atmosphere and service. Is a rival to any of the "known" high end Dallas restaurants.

Appetizers as big as entrees

By Pookie36 |

Dined here on Oct 13 and had a great meal. We were late for the reservation due to our cabbie getting lost. But, they seated us and all was good. I had the 48hr braised short rib app and it melted in my mouth. Then, another app of braised veal with pasta. Both these were entree sized and I had plenty. This is a pricey place in the middle of a high dollar area, but they treat you with respect no matter how much you spend. I would go back.

Easter and Mother's Day Brunch

By CoastGuy65 |

We love this restaurant most of the time, so it was our go-to place for entertaining out-of-town family members for brunch on Easter Sunday and Mother's Day. The food selection was fabulous––nearly anything one might want, prepared and presented beautifully. Just one complaint about the experience, however, and it was a BIG one. Admittedly, we picked special occasions to go, but the restaurant was crammed both Sundays. Reportedly, they served 400 patrons on Easter morning, 700 on Mother's Day. We could hardly move around in the food area, tables were stuck every possible place in the facility, patrons were bumping into one another, waiters were harried, and myriad other problems. It just appeared to be a case of "greed rearing its ugly head," when they cut have cut off the reservations at a more reasonable number. They would have made less money, but the diners would have been a whole lot happier and more eager to return.

Yummi!!!

Great overall experience. Nice steaks, great service!

A Dallas must

By dfwsig |

You have to respect The Mercury and what they have achieved, serving delicious food for what has to be more than 15 years. Especially like the simple "cracklin' chicken"

Very enjoyable

By Mithena |

Dnner was a little more expensive than I am used to when traveling on business, but the food was very good. The decor felt early 1960s, and set a nice tone. I had trouble hearing my dining companions, due to the poor acoustics. We each ordered a salad or appetizer, in addition to an entree, and all felt that the salads were meal-sized. (A warning from the waiter about this would have been nice.) My only real complaint was that the server was a little over-eager to pre-bus the table. My plate and drink glass vanished without warning before I was finished with either.

Such a Memorable Evening!

By Sharon D |

My husband arranged a very special dinner for my 70th birthday in the wine room at The Mercury. The room was beautiful, the food and appetizers exceeded our expectations and the service was absolutely perfect! I can't say enough, too, about Lisa Clark, The Mercury's Event Coordinator. Lisa was delightful to work with and really has an eye for details. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Very nice.. Had forgotten about !

By packersbacker |

We went here to eat at 19:00 hours last Friday Feb, 9, 2019. We were met courteously and seated right away. Waitresses/Waitress were perfect and suggested but did not get pushy. We each had the salmon with a salad and some veggies plus a split chocolate dessert. The bill came to $140.00 with one glass of wine each. For some reason, we always forget about this place but very glad that we again remembered. There is valet parking and a lot of parking spaces out in the shopping centers places. We will go back in a few weeks, glad we rediscovered this place again!

Great meal!

By CoffeeInEurope |

We had the filet and the black cod. Both were excellent. Finished wi creme brûlée. A nice night! This is my third time to eat here and it is always great.

Excellent dinner

By Kaptx |

Four of us had dinner. Though very crowded, service was outstanding. Split two salads, the kalamata and the wedge. Both very good. For entrees, two filets and the sliders as entrees. The sides were fries and onion rings. All were perfectly cooked. Good wine list and a full bar. Excellent complimentary bread with butter and pate. Easy parking and valet service available. Great night overall.

Upscale / excellent

By phil95 |

Met friend here for dinner. Plenty of parking, self and valet. Had the Dover Sole, well presented and delicious. Allowed us to sit as long as we Wanted. No rush. Great evening. Not very crowded on Tuesday evening. Located in strip mall. Look for Starbucks on corner.

As usual, great meal and service

By Kaptx |

Two of us went for dinner at the Mercury. The service by Tony was perfect and as was the valet parking cars. The bread, butter and pate starting the meal was on point. For an appetizer we shared the onion rings and a wedge salad. For entrees , we had the fried steak and the beef tartare. Excellent meal overall. Will continue to visit.

OUT OF THIS WORLD

By Ross H |

We have been coming to Mercury for several years and it NEVER disappoints. The service is superb and the food is incredible. Always consistent. Can’t say enough good about this place. My wife had the incredible Lobster taco. I had the Shrimp Cocktail. Both excellent. My wife ALWAYS has the wild mushroom risotto. I had the filet cooked perfectly. A great addition to Dallas dining.

What's with the attitude?

By alice2000 |

We have eaten at the Mercury many times in the past. We even had a large dinner there for about 50 people several years ago. The food has always been excellent and was still good at this recent lunch visit. However, the man at the front desk and our waiter ruined our meal. Their abruptness and condescending attitude will make us think twice about returning. When my elderly guest needed a little time to read the menu, he was met with a lack of patience that certainly made him uncomfortable. Maybe this was an off day, but we don't go to an upscale restaurant expecting to be treated like this.

Great food!

By aaammgb |

I've been to The Mercury many times and it's always great. We recently went there for dinner to celebrate our grown daughters birthday as she had never been there. She loved it and she had my favorite, the Mushroom Risotto. Will be back again soon and it's a favorite. Highly recommend!

Delicious food + nice atmosphere + professional service = great experience

By Marta N |

We've had no expectations when we visited The Mercury, as the dinner was gifted to us by our family, and that was our first time dining out in Dallas. The dinner was a beautiful experience from the moment we entered the place and were taken care by their professional staff. The food was delicious and the wine recommended by sommelier was really nicely paired with our fish. The staff is attentive but not intrusive. Pleasure all along!

A little hit or miss

By SBR |

This is a great restaurant and a good value when it is "on". A good restaurant the rest of the time, but expensive.

Food was better than the service!

By Chase M |

While the meal was mostly good, the serviced lacked in every way it possibly could. From the beginning, our waitress seemingly forgot that we were seated at her table, not taking our dinner order for about a half hour until after we sat. She continued to forget things, placed the wrong entrees in front of people, etc. Long and short, the service here is nowhere close to par for what’s expected from a restaurant in this price range. The steaks were good, albeit the appetizers and salads left a bit to be desired. We didn’t have dessert, as our dessert order was forgotten. Long and short, we probably won’t be going back - there are much better choices in this price range.

Nice Spot

By Mbish159 |

Came across this place by accident. I will return post Covid. Nice selection of food and wine. Not noisy.

As Usual, great food and service

By Kaptx |

The two of us went for a late Friday night dinner at Mercury. It was outstanding. We shared the very good onion rings as an appetizer. Then our entrees were the tartare and the veal Milanese. Both were excellent. I also note that are willing to substitute different sides as desired. Passed on dessert as we were full. Actually took home leftovers that were good warmed up today. Great service by Tanner. Love also the valet parking.

Absolute perfection!

By clyn75 |

My husband, myself and my daughter went to celebrate my birthday there. It's romantic for a dress up date out! And fun for a small group! Please...I beg of you, don't ruin the atmosphere by wearing jeans! Everyone there was dressed up and we fit right in. My picture I'm attaching is the caviar in vodka cream in a egg shell. The flowers are a Japanese flower that are edible. (A familiar taste of radish to me) I was wanting to try something I've never tried before. Take it slowly, and enjoy every single little bite! It was about $18? For that but worth it! I had the best cod I've ever had in my life there too! Blackened cod. So tender and delicious like nothing my taste buds have ever had before, I was in pure heaven! Dessert I got a soufflé! FOR DESSERT! They have several to choose from so I won't even tell you which one I got because then you won't try the other ones! Word of caution- these are made to order soufflés so put your order in soon after you get your main meal (20min...perfection takes time) Tony was our waiter and did superb. Valet parking too and very quick. Thanks, Very impressed family from Ohio

Great Food, Great Service, Great Experience

The service was top-notch. As was the food. I had the veal milanese, which was fantastic. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Good in the past, not this time

By txmeg |

For the first time, this restaurant disappointed us. It's a lovely and comfortable place, with professional servers. We were there for lunch. I had The Mercury Salad and was dismayed to find it served with a large chunk of iceberg lettuce - to my mind, the cheapest and most tasteless choice. It had a good amount of protein but I only noticed 3 tiny bits of the bacon and only 1 cube of avocado. He had the fish sandwich which was okay, but nothing special. Not a good lunch destination. I hope the dinners are still good.

Terrific Italian food

By cclaar |

This is a great Restaurant near Cooper Clinic and Lodge. Good wine selection and great Italian Food with good variety and choices. Service was very good and staff friendly and helpful. very nice and quiet atmosphere for a very pleasant evening.

Great food, nice atmosphere

I have been here several times. Dinner service is better than lunch staff. Food is great for both lunch and dinner. Drinks are good. Price is a little on the high side. Atmosphere is great for dates and business meals.

Dining Downward Experience!

By Martin S |

Been going to this place since early 2000’s and always enjoyed the food, experience , etc. Unfortunately the last few times have been less than good and our last time there was our final experience which officially deemed The Mercury as a place not to visit. Looked at several places for Mom’s 70th Bday and due to our party size had to call in to make reservation. As expected of a place with rudderless mgmt, no reservation was found for our party. They sat us in the Wine Room which is basically out of sight and out of mind. We ordered bottles of wine and the waiter dropped the wine bucket (which things happen) and got my Mom’s back soaking wet, wife’s shoes/feet sopping and hit my face like a bucket of water thrown at it. Being a waiter before I understand things occur, but no urgency, no management, nothing came to us to address the situation. Based on the covers, this lack of attention wasn’t due to being busy but seems to be the downward spiral of mgmt. On good note, the food is good, valet intro is awesome but overall Dallas has too many options for these kind of experiences. We go to the Mercury for all our dates nights and client dinners, but based on last experience I’m moving on to Al Biernat’s, Mister Charles, etc that value the customer. Dallas has many better places to spend your time and money where you want to come back to enjoy. Adios Mercury!

Great meal and atmosphere

By Candise H |

We ate here for Valentine's dinner. We only get to go maybe twice a year, but they never disappoint. Appetizers, dinner, and desert were amazing. And they gave all the ladies a rose at the end of the evening (in case your hubby forgot)! Pricey, but great atmosphere and chef inspirations are delicious.

What a find!

By John R |

My wife and I stumbled into The Mercury last night and we had an awesome experience. We shared a wagyu appetizer special that nothing short of spectacular. We actually cooked it on a hot rock on the table. We shared a great salad and grilled fish which were very tasty. Our server Corey was terrific and we enjoyed a great bottle of Bordeaux. Would love to go here again next time we’re in Dallas.

As always, great food and

By Kaptx |

As always, great food and service by Tanner. We had the filet and the chicken fried steak. Both perfect. The sides of rings and the mashed potatoes were excellent and great with the entrees. Good wine selection. Valet parking. We will return again , and again

Best Steak in Dallas

By Bison88 |

Casual atmosphere, good wine, and really, really, really good food. The NY strip was better than Del Frisco's (by far), better than Ruth's Chris, better than Nick & Sam's, and even better than Bob's. Don't miss it.

Lively and fun place, excellent food

This landmark N Dallas location continues to deliver an excellent meal and service, with a buzz that makes it a magnet.

Destroyed our birthday cake

By AVGTXN |

Although food servings were large, food well prepared, and service attentive, The Mercury really screwed up our evening. We brought in a specially decorated cake with specific messages attached and gave it to our server to hold on to. After our meal, instead of bringing out the whole cake out with lit candles, the serving team brought out slices of cake, including a slice for the birthday person that was surrounded by candles. On top of each slice and without asking us, they had added strawberry sauce. One in our party even heard a server say they had improved on what we brought in. How arrogant. You can't imagine how disappointed / mad the person who bought the cake was. At least the birthday person never knew. I'm fine never returning.

Perfect solo dining experience

By Cheryl R |

While in Dallas for business I wanted to treat myself to a good meal. The Mercury on Preston was a very nice solo dining experience. The staff was attentive without being obsequious. The recommendations of wine and food was delicious and the chocolate lava cake was "just too good to be true". I want to go back!
