Overhyped

Food was good, but not remarkable. Very similar to something that I could get at home in Southern California. Some items were already gluten free and they were able to modify others. Really enjoyed the drinks, especially the hibiscus one. Fun vibe. Fantastic service.

Great authentic mecian restaurant in DFW.

By Carlos G |

I can’t get enough of this restaurant. Being originally From Monterrey and living in DFW since 2011 this restaurant is the closest I feel to my hometown. It is upscale, a little pricey maybe but the food os amazing. This is where I take business partners, friends and family for dinner when they visit. And I usually go thursdays for drinks, the bar is great

Stay away!

I keep on getting dragged back by friends and i will just flat-out refuse the next time. Arrogant, dismissive, and unprofessional service. Food is way overpriced and not really special in any way. You pay $32 for chicken enchiladas which should cost $13 max. The crowd is very rough and has gotten worse over time.

Not worth it!

Don't waste your time. The staff is a mess, the manager was condescending and very insulting. It's overpriced, the food isn't all that and it won't last. Mark my words.

Amazing Food, Atmosphere and Exceptional Service

By Karen J |

Last evening we had the opportunity to dine at "The Mexican", Dallas, Texas. Wow, what a wonderful experience! My colleagues and I were visiting Dallas. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel but we were unsuccessful in securing a reservation for Saturday night. So, we took a chance and went to the restaurant anyway. The doorman opened the door for us and we were warmly greeted. When we shared our story, the hostess said, "Of course we are able to seat you." We were immediately taken over to a lovey table. The ambiance was amazing! Luxurious establishment, artfully set tables and the lighting was appropriate for the evenings. The tables were evenly spaced for just the right amount of privacy. The staff and servers were professional, friendly, polished and extremely attentive. Our server, David L. delightful. He was friendly, warm and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and even made suggestions for wine pairings. He was attentive and took care of our every need. Excellent service!! My water glass was always refilled when it was half full. We truly felt cared. I had the Jumbo Scallops and Camarones and it was delicious. My co-workers enjoyed the Jumbo White Prawns and the American Wagyu. While the presentation of these dishes was absolutely lovely, the symphony of flavors took it over the top!! Each component of the meal was seasoned to perfection! I cannot remember when I had such a lovely dining experience. The service was not rushed and each component of our dining experienced was timed to at a erfect pace. As we finished our meal, the Assistant Manager, Brett Martin, came over to greet us. He was welcoming, engaging, immaculately dressed and extremely professional. He made us feel valued and treated us as though we were the only customers in his establishment. He shared the restaurants expansion plans and was extremely complimentary of his team. This was truly a memorable experience from start to finish. It will be at the top of our list each time we come to Dallas. I am in the travel industry and plan to share our experience with others. Thank you to everyone at "The Mexican". You hit a home run with us!!!

Pretentious—Not High-End

By MariaMcLendon |

Ridiculously Pretentious, without merit. The Mexican is trying to be an upscale, stylish destination in the design district, but misses the mark because of its pretentious service. The menu offers “high-end” fare that is influenced by Mexican flavors. At the end of the day, the food is perfectly fine, albeit extremely overpriced, which one would expect from a high-end design district restaurant. The real issue is the service—the waitstaff seems to be uppity and as if they are doing the patrons a favor by waiting on them. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. In a city with so many fine dining establishments that know how to treat people right, there is no reason at all to waste your time and money on The Mexican.

Amazing Dining Experience

By Glenn B |

This restaurant is the BOMB! Everything from the arrival to the end of the dinner was top notch. The service was amazing. The food over the top - not to mention the presentation. If you are headed to Dallas, make sure The Mexican is on your list to dine at.

Great experience!

Fantastic upscale Mexican fare in a beautifully designed space. Impressive dining and bar area. The staff were thoughtful and attentive. Margaritas were delicious. Highly recommend the Del Mar Enchilada Trio and Suizas de Pollo. Great restaurant for a celebration. We will certainly return.

Truly fine dining

By John D |

We were here, on a Sunday. to celebrate our granddaughter's high school. graduation. Our son and daughter-in-law had always wanted to try this place and the felt that this was an appropriate time. The service from the valet, our server, and the rest of the staff was impeccable. The ambiance is modern and upscale. The food is outstanding. My wife and I shared a red snapper dish that we had enjoyed previously in Mexico City. It was a filet separated with two different salsas. One green and one red. It was amazing. This is not inexpensive, but it is truly fine dining. Oh yes, the margaritas are great.

I loved the atmosphere and the quality of the food. Spectacular attention and decoration. A place that collects the essence of Mexico

A must for fine dining in Dallas

Beautiful place, friendly service, outstanding Mexican food with a sophisticated cosmopolitan touch. (not a tex-mex place)
