We loved the breakfast. Stella was the best waitress! Loved her recommendations and positive vibes. Great start to our trip!

Service was excellent and food was plentiful. I ordered the he ABC omelette and added mushrooms… it was more a mushroom omelette. Luckily, I like shrooms a lot. remember rosemary toast was really good. Overall. A tasty meal at a reasonable price.

Amazingly fast service with very engaging servers. Food was Delicioso. The portions are very large so you get your moneys worth. I’ll come back every time I’m here.

Ok one of my best friends is from mexico and Ive had my share of authentic mexican chorizo. So imagine my suprise when I loved their soy chorizo! Everything was fresh and delicious we ate here two mornings in a row. Make sure also to try their rosemary potatoes. Prices are good if your comparing it to other Sandiego dining in the gas light district area.

The Mission has a variety of menu items. There is something for everyone!! The seating is tight. Get ready to get up close and personal with the table next to you. A great spot for brunch!!

We started with Omid as our server - it was very busy at lunchtime and he was covering several tables with lots of hungry customers. Stella was amazing!! She came out from the back, waved “Hello!” to us and took exceptional care of us, all the way through our checkout!! We even had the opportunity to purchase 2 loaves of the same cinnamon/sugar filled bread that my French toast was made of!! The best part was her calling my husband Tommy. He lost the only Aunt who called him Tommy. That little touch, without knowing it made his day! Anyone who makes my husband smile, is a new friend!! Thank you to both Omid and Stella for making The Mission one of our new favorite places to eat!!

All the food was good, but the rosemary bread and berry cheesecake muffin were phenomenal!! Service was on point with a smile. Also had full coffee offerings.

We tried this place because it was written up in the L.A. Times. We look for gluten free, and this place has two wonderful gluten free breads! They make a gluten free cinnamon french toast which was very nice. We also tried a breakfast burrito, which was great. If I lived in San Diego, this would be a regular place for me. There is a nice variety of foods and good service. They actually have 3 locations, so check your phone or the phone book, if you still have one.

I ate here while on vacation and it was by far the best meal I had while here. The French toast was the best! We were seated right away but the line was long to get in before we left. I highly recommend eating breakfast here.

My nephew attended UCSD so we asked him for recommendations during a weekend visit to Mission Beach. He was spot-on with his recommendation. The first good sign was a cluster of folks waiting outside the door for breakfast. I'm not a big fan of waiting per se, but when you see that kind of loyalty outside a clearly-locals type restaurant, you know you are in for a treat. We had a big party of 10 but they have some great seating options and we were easily accommodated.. The service was quick, friendly and efficient. We ordered a wide spectrum of breakfast items and everyone was very happy with what they got. The menu has some classic breakfast items but also has a number of Mexican-themed items. The place seemed to be a local favorite as it was off-season and they were fully subscribed. Way more fun then a Denny's!

Whenever we are in the area, we try to come to Mission and it never disappoints! Their breakfast has remained outstanding throughout many years! The cornmeal pancakes are hands down the best pancakes ever! I really enjoyed their Papas Loco this time too. The coffee is delicious and the bloody Mary’s are good too even though their not made with vodka. We love this place!

Stella really took care of us! Great breakfast and the Oregon Chai with oat milk is a must. Mission Rosemary potatoes were fantastic. Been coming here 20+ years and it always delivers!

Fantastic green corn tamales and eggs with perfect tomatillo salsa and Omid, our waiter, made it all thoroughly great!

Chilaquiles were delicious and huge. The service was great. Estella gave fantastic service and made us feel very welcome.

Food was great and service was on point and excellent. Our server’s name was Omid, he was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and provided great recommendations and backed it up with a great attitude, if every server represented themselves this way it would make every dining experience smooth and extremely enjoyable. I definitely will be coming back.

The Mission Restaurant is a very very good spot for breakfast. The service, atmosphere and food were all great.

We come here twice a month for over 5 years and love the food. Tess has been our server almost the entire time and she is fantastic! The rest of the team is great too, and we look forward to seeing her each time.

Great weekend breakfast! We had a large party on a Sunday morning. Stella was our server and my we were so lucky! Great service, great recommendations, she knew the menu so well and all modifications. We had a few kiddos with us and serving the kids a bit early was no problem. The food was delish I recommend the chilaquiles green sauce with steak- yummm we will be back!

Tough to find parking and had a short wait on a Sunday morning but The Mission proved well worth it! Everything we had from fresh orange juice to the meals was fantastic! Can’t wait to go back, highly recommend everything. Couldn’t even tell chorizo was soy which is high praise from my carnivore boyfriend.

This spot serves the best pancakes. Loved the variety for desayuno Mexicano. You won’t be disappointed.

It was a beautiful location to sit and talk ad view the bay. It was a very long wait just to get coffee drinks for our family of four. I would still recommend.

My husband and I made a beeline to this cafe from the airport after enjoying the food during a previous vacation. Our sever, Stella, was very patient, and welcoming. She recommended the Mexican espresso to my liking - not too sweet. The breakfast quesadillas are excellent!

Service was absolutely terrible. Unfortunately The food was mediocre. I could have went to ihop got the same service and the same mediocre food. I truly would not recommend. Honestly have no idea how it has five stars.

I took my mom and nephew to breakfast here today. We ordered blueberry pancakes and soyrizo egg scramble. The pancakes were rubbery. The eggs hardly had any soyrizo and they we cooked to a perfect brown crust doneness. If you like overcooked eggs you will enjoy this dish. The prices averaged $15 a plate. I sent my eggs back and didn’t order anything in it’s place. The coffee was excellent - so it’s got that going for it. Skip this place all together and splurge on lunch at any number of places downtown.

Stella was great! Breakfast reccomendations were on point, Sunday morning is a great option because parking is readily available in this part of town.

Good food, good service. Cold brew was great. Just a heads up, parking in this area blows. $30 for 2 hours in parking lots and street parking in extremely limited. I would visit again but maybe in an uber.

The cappuccino was stellar. The service was equally great and friendly. The food was good and tasty for sure. Not sure why they don’t do omelets, but they don’t. I found that odd.

Went on a Sunday morning right as they opened. Parking would be difficult at other times. The 2 teens had pancakes, they were huge and neither could finish them (unusual). The mission Chilaquiles had more chips than usual and less black beans. It was good. Service was prompt and professional. A good breakfast before an afternoon padres game

We've had a lot of breakfasts on our trip to the USA, but this was the best! Freshly prepared and with love: The "Breakfast Burrito" was delicious, and the black beans were also very aromatic. And the "Cinnamon French Toast" was a dream! Real brioche toast and it had a nutty cinnamon filling that was to die for! The service was also very friendly and accommodating. She made sure that we got our portions to share on separate plates and that the French toast came after the burrito. 10 points out of 10 and thank you!!

Mom & Pop atmosphere with homemade pancakes and handcrafted lattes. 10/10 definitely recommend this place and will go again when I’m back in the area

This restaurant was recommended to us for their great breakfasts. Unfortunately, parking is on the street and very difficult to find. When we walked in, the restaurant was nearly vacant, but it quickly filled up. I ordered chicken apple sausage and scrambled eggs with rosemary bread and potatoes for $14.95. What intrigued me most was the chicken apple sausage as I love sausage, thus the reason for my menu selection. I found out I absolutely detest this sausage, and that ruined my whole meal. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito with black beans and bacon for $9.95; nothing outstanding. The service was excellent, and the restaurant clean, but overall it wasn't worth the grief of finding a parking space for a so-so meal.

Amazing! Omid made our morning. Our food was beautifully presented and so fresh! My daughter had a wonderful time and my Dad loved his food as well.

My husband and I came for breakfast and ordered two meals to share. One thing we ordered was the “Granola”, “coconut” banana pancakes. When they arrived we could see there was NO granola or coconut on the top. Ok. My husband cut them open and NOPE! Only some thinly sliced bananas here and there. NO granola or coconut whatsoever. Very disappointed. We told our server who was very sweet and apologetic. She told the manager who took $3 off our bill. 🙄. We did NOT order banana ONLY pancakes. The Mission needs to change their menu to reflect that for $13,50 you will get plain pancakes with a few thin slices of bananas. Such a bummer!!!

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant, and since it was crowded at lunchtime, and I was alone, I ate the bar. I received great service and the food was wonderful!

We went for lunch and the food was really good. No wait to get seated but the place was really busy. Service was not outstanding and finding a parking place was challenging, but I would go back.

My daughter and I were visiting from the east coast and stayed nearby. We arrived at 7am (their opening) and already people were filling the tables. The food and service were impeccable. Portions were so large that we each ate half and saved the other half for the following day's breakfast. The coffee was also very good. Highly recommend!!

My husband and I took a vacation to San Diego and decided to stay at an AirBnB near Mission Bay. We weren’t sure where to go for breakfast and so happened upon this place. At first, we were a little worried about how the food was going to taste. Let’s just say we were quite surprised that it was better than we thought. Very tasty and the customer service was great. I had the pancakes and they were very fluffy and light, melted in your mouth. My husband had the eggs with apple chicken sausage and he said they were very good. We liked it so much, we went back the next day! I highly recommend them.

My husband and I were so grateful to have found this restaurant. We had taken an overly ambitious walk and were hoping to find a good place to eat and rest on our way back to our Pacific Beach hotel. Exhausted, we collapsed on the bench right in front. After a few minutes we made our way inside and were greeted by a very helpful, welcoming waitress. The food turned out to be incredible, the service and atmosphere very healing.

With so many options and great looking food, it was tough to choose what to get. I saw the pancakes come out several times, and just went with it! I ordered the granola banana pancakes. You get three huge ones stacked on top of each other with granola and banana in every bite. They were phenomenal and more then enough for a full meal. I also had an order of apple sausage on the side, which were tasty. Everyone in my party was happy with their options. I did see some people order the breakfast burritos, and will have to try that next. Service was standard, the atmosphere was typical diner. I must have gotten here early enough, there was no line but it started to form minutes later, they get busy!

Excellent in every way - a must when in Mission Bay! Despite crowd for late morning the wait time was negligible. Menu was full of tasty choices, must return to try them all. Generous portions prepared with tasty seasonings, full of flavor, perfect eating temperature, and promptly. Entire staff was attentive, friendly and welcoming, especially our server Antonio who made great recommendations and anticipated our needs really well including a delicious muffin to take home for snacking!

Wherever we visit San Diego, The Mission Cafe is our everyday spot for breakfast or brunch. Right when we walk in, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It’s one of those places that feels like home. This time we ordered some of our favorites: the Papas Loco, the housemade granola, pancakes, and the French toast. Every option they offer is so good. The Papas Loco is my all time favorite, the granola is made in house and is one of the best I’ve ever had, the pancakes are fluffy and light, and the French toast is so delicious that my mom craves it often. You can tell how much care goes into the food here, it’s consistent, fresh, and full of flavor. What really makes The Mission Cafe stand out though is the service! Stella is phenomenal. She’s friendly, attentive, and genuinely makes every visit feel so special. She always goes above and beyond to make sure we’re taken care of, and her positive vibe adds so much to the experience. The Mission never disappoints! We’ll continue coming back every time we’re in San Diego, it’s truly our favorite place, and Stella makes every visit memorable. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a breakfast or brunch spot that you’ll want to keep coming back to!

Everything from the coffee, fresh Rosemary Potatoes and the Strawberry Banana Pancakes were ABSOLUTELY wonderful

hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. Server offered suggestions as we had a tough time deciding what to order. Kids split pancakes (which are huge) and a side of bacon - four thumbs up. The chicken sausage plate was most excellent, too. The only downside, the wait. Not much you can do about it as the restaurant is so very good that lots of people want to eat there.

We were riding our bikes at the boardwalk in Mission Bay and it was perfect because this place is very close to the boardwalk. We loved the pancakes, I had the strawberry banana and they were delicious!! Tes was very friendly and attentive. Can’t say the same thing about Rebecca, the hostess. Anyway, overall de experience was great. We waited about 30 min, so not so bad for a Saturday. And again, the pancakes were amazing!

We stopped for a mid-morning breakfast in the middle of the week. Positive marks are warranted for both the atmosphere and service. Our food, however, was a disappointment - far short of expectations based on previous reviews. Scrambled eggs and a mushroom frittata were both cold, and chicken sausage on both plates, while tasty, contained inexplicable bits of gristle. Lastly, the mushrooms in the frittata were severely burnt. Perhaps Tuesday was an off-day for the kitchen.

This was a really cool place to eat breakfast in a trendy neighborhood. The food was really good and the service was great. Finding a parking spot nearby was a little daunting. But that was forgotten about once we got inside and enjoyed a great meal!

Myself and my friend got the cinnamon french toast and chorizo eggs for breakfast the portion size was MASSIVE and tasted amazing. The service was also very very good free sparking water and even went out their way to provide us takeaway sparking waters to go. The plates are piled high in the wonderful local breakfast place. Located on Mission Blvd. it has been around over 75 years! It makes it’s own breads and has vegan and gluten-free choices.

Yes, I posted a picture of my empty plate. It was the BEST! In all my travels I have to say this is my favorite lunch spot in the world 🌍! I've literally been coming here for over 15 years (I do not live in San Diego) I could come here daily, try everything on the menu and not get tired of it. Even the coffee is simply out of this world. 2X as good as any coffee shop. Even that toast I took a picture of is Grilled w/Rosemary!! My compliments to the chef. The soy chorizo omelette was Soo good I didn't even put hot sauce on it, which of course is a staple for eggs in my book. Fabulous! I'll be back tomorrow! Thanks Joselin

The Mission is the best. I loved the ambience. A loud, crowded diner. Breakfast menu selection excellent! I got The Rosemary- scrambled eggs, rosemary potatoes, 4 slices bacon, 2 pieces of rosemary toast and a very robust French roast coffee- my husband got the homemade cinnamon French toast and my son got the chilaquiles- We were all pleased with everything and will go again-

The Mission is one of our favorites and has been for over 20 years. Coffee and food are top notch. I always get the sweet corn tamale with chili, black beans, and eggs. It’s delightful. Stella was our server on our most recent visit. They were kind and attentive. Great food and service as usual.

I really can’t believe I have not been here before. In an effort to try new places, I scoured TA, Thrillist and Eater and The Mission was one of my finds. It was so incredible we went twice this week! First outing was blackberry banana pancakes and Eggs Chile Verde (not name but you get picture). This was the better of the two visits, mostly because both plates were unusual and on point. Also, never forget to order the Rosemary Skillet Potatoes...crispy, woody, ridiculously good! Second visit was chilaquiles and blueberry cornmeal cakes. This was still outstanding just not quite as good as the first round- chips were a little soggy and I wanted more cornmeal in pancake. Potatoes though, just as righteous! This is a very busy restaurant with only street parking so expect a wait. The service was spot on and friendly both go-arounds. We actually only waited 10 minutes each time, but parking was a challenge. This is a must breakfast spot in Dan Diego!

Try to get seated in Stella’s section! She was so kind, gave great recommendations and was quick & friendly with her service. She recommended chilaquiles with green sauce and steak which 2 people in our party had and loved! For non egg eaters we loved the avocado toast (eggs on the side) and the papas loco + lavender cold brew & lattes. So good!

Great place for breakfast. We eat here a lot. Large portions, great coffee (it's also a coffee bar). Open for breakfast and lunch. Kind of small and is very popular so expect a wait, but they turn the tables quick. Best french toast I ever ate!

I returned to The Mission restaurant in Mission Beach because of their wonderful breakfast selections. I enjoyed the savory "Mission Rosemary" with chicken apple sausage while my wife had the Cinnamon French Toast. This restaurant is located on a main street with no view of the ocean, unlike many other restaurants in MB/PB, but the food and service are worth it. Lastly, there tends to be a rather long waiting line if you arrive during peak breakfast time.

super busy on weekends especially during the summer but if you want local and unique try this place. unless you are staying at a near by hotel or uber/lyft-ing it in parking sucks best shot is Santa Clara Place or El Carmel. The food is awesome. If you can get one of the corner booths, people watching and the sun drenched dinning only adds to the experience. For food, My favorites are blueberry/banana pancakes or rosemary french toast but to tell you the truth, there is nothing bad on the menu.

Traveling through Pacific Beach near San Diego. I wanted a healthy breakfast that was flavorful, hearty, and delicious. Found The Mission, here in town. Loved it!! So good! Everything made fresh in house, even the bread for the toast. The breakfast potatoes, eggs, and soy chorizo with avocado and fresh tomato salsa. Mmm. Exactly what I wanted - delicious!!

We've been coming here for 20+ years and this was by far the best service we've ever had. Generally the service has always been bad, but the food is good, so it's worth it. However, that was not the case today. Stella was exceptional. The kind of server you want to come back for. Great job on the service improvement!

We had breakfast here after a long run on Mission Beach. The food was good and the service was typical diner style. Large portions of food with friendly service. I had a Mexican dish with potatoes, black beans, scrambled eggs and a flour tortilla, which was very hearty. There was good coffee on call as well. A good place for an informal, casual breakfast if that's what you're looking for.

I’ve come here for years when I visit SD. It’s not the restaurant it used to be. Not as healthy choices. They make good bread tho. Food cold and coffee mocha cold each time I came this week. Will find elsewhere next time I visit San Diego

We had breakfast here our last morning in San Diego before driving up to LA. We arrived when they opened and enjoyed good food and good service. I think that we had an omelet and the granola banana pancakes.

I love this spot so much. Stella welcomed me and took care of me, here attention to detail and warmth were wonderful. I had the corn tamales and they were so delicious. This is a great spot for breakfast on the beach. They have a diversity of plates, the service is excellent and it’s just a quality place to enjoy a meal. Thank you! Highly recommended!

Tasty breakfast. The French toast is amazing! Strawberry banana pancakes are very flavorful-think would try it with granola next time! Staff was very friendly as well and thankfully we had to wait but we were there when it opened and can see how quickly it fills up once open.

This was by far the best breakfast we had on our trip up the PCH. Breakfast shakes. French toast. Breakfast croissant. Avocado toast. It was all completely scrumptious! Our server was nice, also. We did have to wait for 15 mins or so but no biggie!

We went to both locations of this restaurant during our recent trip. The breakfasts are very tasty and the menu has lots of gluten free options. Our toddler loved the fruit and the bacon, and we loved the eggs and GF rosemary toast too. Decent coffee as well, and the service is always very friendly.

The french toast is awesome. Great place for breakfast if you are near mission beach. Wide selection on the breakfast menu so you can pretty much have anything you want.

When we arrived at the mission restaurant, we were quickly seated and complimented with a comfortable booth seats for my girlfriend and I. We ordered an espresso shot, which I must say was quite exquisite then the Zen breakfast and biscuits and gravy which were both delicious. Omid M was our server who was very attentive to our needs and offered great recommendations to complement the food. He was quite the fun character to interact with for our waiter.

Excellent breakfast menu with a Latin twist. We had the breakfast burrito with avocado, chocolate chip pancakes and blackberry & banana pancakes. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend!!

Stella first of all I need to say was the absolutely incredible she was on top of everything and she went above and beyond anything I could have asked for. Highly recommend a must stop delicious everything. I brought my two kids and she was more than accommodating. We didn't wait for anything and they were on top of everything and we even came at the very end when they're about to close and we were treated no differently. 10 out of 10

Stella was absolutely amazing!!! Eating with an allergy to wheat and dairy makes it difficult at times to find something to eat. However, Stella made it super easy and was willing to work with me in every way! The food came out quickly and tasted great! Definitely will be back for the food and the outstanding service!

It's reputation made me expect more from what we actually experienced. My kids very much enjoyed their blueberry pancakes and French toast, and the fruit bowl was nice, but my husband said his meal was "alright" and mine was just ok. The service was decent. It was a lot of money for a brunch that was just ok.

We came here for breakfast because of all the options for gluten free items. As a bonus, our table goddess was Stella. She was so sweet and attentive to our needs and funny to boot. We were a family of 6 and ordered a little of everything. Food was fantastic and the bill wasn’t crazy. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

I am a serious foodie and enjoy vacation breakfast! This is one of my top 3 breakfast restaurants. You must have the French toast. Everything was great! The food comes out fast. Don’t sleep on the coffee bar! The matcha and coffee drinks are top notch!

On a short trip to San Diego, we discovered The Mission on our first morning and then had breakfast there every day. The food is excellent - this certainly isn't your standard US diner - and the portions are generous. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Gets busy from about 9.00am onwards so best to arrive early or be prepared for as little bit of a wait for a table.

My best friend and I were in California for the weekend and heard great things about the mission and decided to stop by on our last day. Our server Stella was amazing and really fun, definitely recommend requesting her if you want a personable server that's going to take care of you. Loved the place and the experience! ❤️

The Mission is my favorite place for breakfast. Tess is just between you and me my favorite server. She's been there which seems like forever. Always friendly. Consistently has a smile on her face. Helps customers with their menu choices. What I like about her the most is ,after coming here for 15 years, Tess has my order memorized and sometimes has my order on the table before I tell her what I usually order. That's dedication and shows pride in her job...something which is rarely seen. Please let her know that this regular customer fully appreciates her wonderful cheerful personality as well as taking a few moments to chat with me. I visited The mission 10 yrs ago. It was the best breakfast place in town and i’m delighted to say it still is. On a warm May morning my partner and i travelled to the Mission and were not disappointed. As usual there was a queue of eager hungry diners outside but you really don’t mind waiting when u get delivered an excellent tasty breakfast. Mexican infused breakfast omelette with beans and a burritos with the best ingredients that are just perfectly balanced with the right amount of spice and endless coffee. Yes i can eat there all day. Staff are attentive and always provide great service

The food here was very well done. My son who is 7 loved his strawberry pancakes. He is a picky eater, so a win for us! My daughter and I split the french toast which was amazing. My husband liked his breakfast as well. It was a lot of food, but all was great. They also had several healthier options. We tried the yogurt with fresh fruit and granola. It was also very good. We definitely ordered a bit more food than we needed due to the large portion sizes, but the food was so good!

We ate here twice during our time near Mission Beach. First time was excellent - we were seated immediately (around 8:45-9am), service was great, and we both really enjoyed our breakfasts. The second time we were given a wait time of about 25 minutes, but ended up waiting more like 35-40 minutes. After we were seated, it took another 10 minutes to get waters, and about 15 minutes for someone to ask us drink and food order. They were much busier the second time and were still really friendly throughout the visit. Great prices and quality of food! Menus were all online - you scan the QR code upon arriving at your table. There were also plastic barriers up in between tables to separate you from other parties.

Everything was amazing including our server, Stella! Our party of 5 raved about all of their choices. And, be prepared to bring extra home as the portions are huge! The rosemary potatoes and bread are to die for. Wish I could bring this restaurant back home with me to northern Arizona.

Closed 30 minutes early. They would not seat us at 1:30. Business owner should be pissed thier workers are losing early.
