Nice Fine Dining Experience

By LiveLaughLoveT_08 |

My friend and I visited from out of town. We had various dishes that were very good. The crab cakes and the crabmeat cocktail were good. The shrimp and grits were great. The raspberry sangria was refreshing. The shrimp scampi was very spicy. All dishes were small, almost like tapas but the caramel bread pudding was huge! And good! The service was good. We received a discount for valet parking at the galleria. It was a good fine dining experience.

Bad experience, Service without soul ..

By Billy H |

Travelled to Houston for work reasons this past Wednesday 4/21/2021, stayed in the Galleria area. Someone suggested we tried Oceanaire. We got there in later part of the night, the person who seated us, also served as waiter. Very lame service, I honestly felt rushed to order and eat, it was very overpriced (which I already knew) but my wife had seafood craving, particularly oysters. The experience was very low on my dining scale, the meal was very lame, the best was the wine, merlot that was $51 ($13.99 at CVS), and the oysters which were served on a rush and with no explanation whatsoever of which type of oysters, where from, etc. The dishes cooked by them were very average, close to bad, their supposedly fantastic “crab cake”, was not great, seemed like left overs from the day . I will not return nor recommend. The waiter seemed to be having a bad day, which I don’t blame him, I don’t expect Willy Wonka experience on such type of restaurante and life is tough, however for the prices they charge I do appreciate a warmer reception and hospitality. I wanted to leave so bad when I was finished that just left the 10% tip I usually give minimum but I almost didn’t give any tip, however I am too sensitive to be so lame with the rest of the staff. I wanted to leave so bad, that I signed the credit card slip and left forgetting my receipts, which at least would have been a decent business expense. I feel bad for myself because I allowed that bad experience to shadow the rest of my trip avoiding any of those big corporate only money taking restaurantes with no soul. I much rather support young entrepreneurs who cook with passion and care about their customers. Not industrial AC bills, money driven executives and worker unions associated to corporate business practices. I should have written this review next day and moved on from the bad experience. But I am doing this as therapy now. Stay safe and avoid this place, unless you like throwing your company or bosses cash away and impressing I don’t know who. For me, this boat is already underwater.

Birthday Dinner

By Cynthia S |

Although, we arrived on time. Our table was not ready. However, the staff had printed menus with my friends' name and Happy Birthday on them. It was not very crowded, but the service was a little slow. However, THE FOOD made up for everything. Because it was several ladies, we simply ordered several dishes and shared. Not one person had a complaint about the food. Looking forward to my next visit.

Save your money!!

By Brie |

Small portions, food is subpar... scallops were over cooked, wine tasted old, and they waiter acted as if he didn’t want to be at work! It was a complete waste of time!!

Great experience!

By GattoGirl |

We took a chance on this place because it was in The Galleria, and ended up having a unique and lovely experience. Our server was new, but very sweet and knowledgeable. She recommended the Chicken fried lobster, and it was absolutely delicious! Never had anything like it. The scallops were delicious too. Beautiful restaurant. Can’t wait to go back and get that lobster!

Best crab in town!

By NinoMare |

I’ve been in this restaurant several times and I have never been disappointed. Both seafood and meat are gorgeous. King crab is absolutely amazing. Probably the best in town!Portions are abundant and the service is great. The environment is perfect for couples celebrating anniversaries or other important events.

Beautiful seafood and restaurant

By Alastair S |

Did not have this restaurant on my list while in Houston, but having visited the Galleria and in need of a drink we spotted this restaurant and the menu looked inviting so in we went. The restaurant is situated right beside the Galleria which would make it an ideal location for many. The restaurant itself has a beautiful decor which lends itself to a lovely ambiance. Service is very good, not rushed and informative on the menu and wines. A good selected of various seafood gives you many delicious options. My wife choose two starters in the crab cakes and the shrimp cocktail. The crab cake was delicious with the crab taste really coming through. I was happy to choose just a main and went for the the angry halibut. It was excellent. Trying to take it easy on the food consumption so declined the dessert which did look impressive. The restaurant is a little expensive, but an enjoyable meal in a lovely restaurant.

Houston Restaurant Weeks

By Jody R |

Went with friends to try out their food. Great Atmosphere! The food was good, especially the surf and turf. The drinks were poured a little short and pricey. Two stalls in the ladies room were without toilet paper so I think they lack attention to detail in some areas.

Good night I guess

By Juliene R |

Bobbi (hostess) was a little bit rude and is she is going to work in the customer service industry she needs to work on her communication skills DO NOT BE THE FACE OF A COMPANY WITH AN UNCOUTH MENTALITY. Other than that Troy was our server he was ok. We changed our mind from regular dining to happy hour and had the Ceviche mixto it’s ok if you like a lot of cucumber. The Ahi Tuna Tower was amazing very delightful, the grill oysters were amazing as well, the fish and chips was ok but not worth $15 prob $10 but it’s mostly fries and 1 piece of 2oz fish. The fish tacos were ok it’s and my friends had the filet sliders and said they were good

Great Restaurant

By Furnman61 |

Went with my wife yesterday for my birthday and it was great!! Great service and the food was outstanding! Of course my free desert was a great extra. Only downer was parking at the Galleria which can be a challenge.

Favorite Place for Oysters & Caviar

By mehryne |

This is my favorite place in Houston to have oysters , can’t have enough :) Very fresh and great food quality. Staff is friendly and everything on the menu is amazing.

Great place to visit during restaurant week

By Krishna M |

The dinner price is fixed. The choices are good and service is excellent. Wearing masks is a must. The tables are spread out maintain social distancing. The food is prepared fresh and tasty. You get a great value during the rest. week! Ordered steak and lobster. Steak was well prepared (medium) but Lobster tail was a bit dry. Caution: need to order side dishes separately, at extra cost!

Break from Shopping for Happy Hour

By JBentraveler |

After a long day of shopping at the Galleria, we decided we needed a drink. The happy hour at the Oceanaire was calling our names. We sat at the bar area and ordered a few glasses of wine. We decided based on Alica's recommendation to order some happy hour treats. We ordered the tuna tower, grilled octopus( w/o bacon), a dozen of blue point clams and grilled Brussel Sprouts(w/o bacon). Neither item needed the bacon and the octopus was the weakest of the bunch. It was a little over cooked, tough and not worth the money. The tuna tower, sprouts and oysters were excellent. At happy hour prices, the meal was rrally good. Speaking to Jason, the manager, we were told that we missed out on the best item, the shrimp with grits. Maybe next time we will try it.

Good, simply prepared seafood at a premium price

By Loki_and_Odin |

This is a nice place serving fresh, carefully cooked seafood. On this particular evening about 95% of the clientele appear to be male-dominated business dinners which was not the vibe I was seeking. Located in the Galleria Mall, it is an easy walk in any weather from the Westin. My swordfish was fresh and perfectly cooked. Service was attentive and welcoming. That said, it seemed the whole meal lacked any particular flavor and creative chef imagination, and the prices are high. You really can't go wrong here if you are interested in fresh seafood. On the other hand you might find an equally good meal at a lower price elsewhere.

Best meal

By ain936 |

I love this places!!! The food is so refreshing. The drinks are great. Customer service is excellent. I’ve ate here at least three times this year. I love the jazz music. The atmosphere is so peaceful.

Excellent for sea food

By gio1508 |

Nice centrally located restaurant at The Galleria which is a luxury mall in Houston. Sea food is fresh and well presented and the restaurant has a good list of wines from all over. For those who prefers meat the quality is excellent too. Not too expensive for such meals.

Lunch

By Paul M |

I have eaten here several times for lunch, and it just never disappoints. The seafood is fresh, superbly cooked and excellent presentation.

Fooled ya

You thought you were going to an upscale seafood place .. well NOT .. it is fairly ordinary with an dull menu and no adventure ins elections BUT oh the prices .. that is where they are an upscale restaurant

Very good place, better service!

By TGuan863 |

We recently ate here during restaurant week. We heard many good things about this place. First off, need to talk about the experience with our server. He was awesome, talked to us about dishes he loved, and some that he wouldn't recommend so much. He was cordial on so many levels, took care of us the whole night. Smiles, respectful, and just over the top with charisma, but not blazingly flamboyant. I started off with the gumbo, then onto mussels with glass noodles, and finished off with a cheesecake. Gumbo, pass, but decent, not worth the full price. The mussels dish was delicious, the amount was more than plentiful and the noodles paired nicely. Some may find the noodles too soft. Cheesecake is not plain, even though it doesn't talk about the toppings. It is topped with chocolate and caramel drizzle with pecans sprinkled. I will pass since I've had much better. Rather do the panna cotta. My wife had the berry and goat cheese salad and swordfish black and bleu. The salad was very good, despite what many may think. The whole salad went very well. Sort of an apple and pear but even more harmonizing. But the main dish was very good. I almost prefer it over the mussels, but it was nice that we can share. Overall, thefood was great, just not worth all of it.

Seafood extravaganza!

By witherspoonq |

Its been an annual pilgrimage to Houston, and the Lakewood Church, that lands me and my family at the Oceannaire Seafood Room. As before, Rosy took great care of us and the meal was fantastic. We enjoyed lots of fresh cold water oysters and grilled fare. A perfectly cooked filet was served, along with creatively prepared sides. The menu is global in its seafood offerings. Likewise, the wine list is vast and impressive. It's the highlight of anyone's visit to the area. Baked Alaska for dessert, too!

Great Atmosphere, Great Food, Great Service

By Regina N |

My friend and I went to Oceanaire on a Saturday AUGUST 26, 2018 for HRW dinner menu. WE both live in Houston and dine out weekly but had never been to the Oceanaire. Our reservation was for 5pm when the doors opened and glad we made reservations early. When we left 1.5 hour later the entire first floor was packed with people. The waiter seated us promptly. I ordered the surf and turf , mini crab cake , and bread pudding as the waiters recommendation. My friend got the mini crab cake, grilled fish and key lime pie. Everything was absolutely divine!!!. We enjoyed every item on our table.!!! Also note this is an A la Carte restaurant so we had to get an order of sharable grilled asparagus as a side vegetable. Drinks and vegetables were an extra charge. Two of us dined for the price of one person even though the bill was a little on the expensive side $100+ . This would be a special occassion restaurant for me as normal prices are up there like Pappas Bros. The Waiters were very attentive and more than one waiter did different things. One of the managers checked to make sure we were enjoying the meal. The crab cakes were almost all crab very little filler and delicious! Crab cake tasted very fresh not like the ones I buy at HEB LOL.. The surf and turf was 5 oz beef and a good size lobster. They both just melt in your mouth. The bread budding was made with a light croissant with vanilla ice cream, raisins and a white sauce. Very!! Very !! delightful with out all that heaviness some bread puddings have. There was nothing about the total experience that I didn't like. I Cant wait to experience the HRW lunch menu. I recommend Parking in the garage for Free as the valet looked to be a mess as they valet for Del Friscos steak house also. Oceanaire does give $5 toward the $11 Valet cost. Definitely put the OCEANAIRE restaurant on your list to visit soon.

Fresh oysters and king crab

By Gabriel H |

Once more, Oceanaire performed to expectations. The Oysters on the half shell were divine, the Ahi tuna tower, sensational and the King crab legs fresh and delicious. The crab legs were served on ice and as the ice melted, it was harder to get the meat out of the shell, because the legs started to sink in the melting ice. The Dover sole, as always,, was excellent and the red snapper, perfectly prepared. Our waiter was very attentive and bar service was prompt and efficient.

Dissapointing

By Mary-Lou S |

It was a record cold day in Houston and we stopped in for lunch. The restaurant was so uncomfortably cold, we ended up eating with our jackets slung over our shoulders. Most of the other guests kept their jackets on as well. The Seafood Gumbo was excessively spicy.

A disappointing holiday dinner.

By William B |

We went for Christmas dinner at 7pm, and the restaurant was a huge disappointment. While the waiter was attentive and concerned, the kitchen was a disaster. First, they were out of many things, including mashed potatoes (!), Creme brûlée, bluefin tuna and several other entrees. Second, the mussels were the most gritty I have EVER had, my fish and the scallops were both lukewarm, and the Brussels sprouts were burned (not charred as they should be). Last, they forgot a side dish for the table, bringing it after all but one person finished their entree. If you cannot get the staff you need on a holiday, you should not open on a holiday.

Great seafood restaurant

By TheDude1974 |

If it’s in the ocean, Oceanaire will probably have it on the menu. While staying at the Westin in the Galleria, I decided to drop by on a Monday night and have a bite to eat. It’s attached to the Galleria mall. Overall a wonderful seafood restaurant, large, open, lots of tables. I sat in the bar as I was on my own. Had a couple of great Hendricks gins and then onto supper. Started out with the crab cake, which is a generous serving and lump style, very tasty. Main was an ahi tuna with a lobster Mac and cheese on the side. The Mac and cheese was delicious, but a very large serving. The ahi was very good, well plated and a good cut. The seafood was all top notch, they obviously get their seafood from higher end distributors or get first choice. I would come back with a group for a meal in the dining room.

The Oceanaire offer great

By FernandoMexico8 |

The Oceanaire offer great quality seafood and great variety. Don’t miss the crab cakes, excellent recipe. For entre we had the Atlantic Salmon and the Swordfish from Ecuador, both simply grilled, excellent! Side: lobster and crab Mac and Cheese, quite good. To finish, Baked Alaska, great! For wine: Cantina Terlano Pino Grigio, Alto Adige DOC 👌🏻

Amazing meal

By Glenys R |

A wonderful place to spend an evening. Upmarket ambience with really knowledgeable staff. Asked for recommendations and were delighted with his selections. Free bread and fresh nibbles - celery, carrot, pickle, olives appeared quickly. Great wine, beer, spirits and cocktail menu. The desserts topped the meal. The atmosphere was one of precise, efficient service with attention to detail in all aspects. Highly recommend this for a special meal.

Private dining with 3 fast and efficient waitstaff

By Dianne W |

We had a group of 30 and had reserved a private dining area. The 3 waitstaff were not real friendly but friendly enough. The food was served exactly as ordered and rather quickly considering the number in our party. The food and wine selection is excellent. This was our second visit and we will return. They do have valet parking if you are not staying at one of the hotels.

Great seafood experience

By Jose Cartagena |

Best grits and shrimp I have tasted and the bread pudding was also fantastic. I will highly recommend the restaurant if you want to enjoy fine seafood

Terrible service for the price

By Marsh623 |

We were looking forward to great dining experience as we had heard the food and ambience was great. The service started off good with our server, but after she took her order we never saw her again. We couldn’t even order a second glass of wine. The food was over priced as they had raised the prices to the holiday weekend, re: Thanksgiving I had their salmon, which was a large portion. I had it topped with crab meat which was an additional $30. Salmon was $42 plus the crab....outrageously over priced,

Business trip

By sparkstexarkana |

Oceanaire may be part of a restaurant group but this restaurant doesn't feel like a cookie cutter. It's in the Galleria and faces the always busy Westheimer. The service is first class. The bar/wine list can meet any request. We made a meal from the salads and several appetizers. The food was fresh and tasty. The oysters were wonderful.

OK Food, Extremely Poor Service

By abquiat |

Food was satisfactory, overall. However, steak (NY strip) was not great quality. Advised waiter early in the evening that one steak must be cooked well done. This was not handled. Rare steak was delivered and sent back. Waited quite awhile for that to come back. In addition, another guest at our table who had not requested special steak cooking temperature was brought a well-done steak, and she could not eat that. Asked the waiter for a box to take some of the food that we could not eat there home (because we were full), and he told us that the restaurant was not doing that this evening. When I pay the high prices they charge for dinner, then I expect my meal to be cooked to my liking, and I expect to be able to take leftovers home. The dinner set menu showed coffee to be served with dessert. There were no coffee cups at the table, and we had to request the waiter to bring us coffee. I had to summon the manager three times during the course of our meal to repeatedly straighten out all of the above messes. Ultimately, the manager discounted our check to try to compensate us for the horrid service, but once the meal service turns sour, it ruins the entire evening for the patrons.

Great dining experience

By LuisFe |

Great location, delicious food and good service yet a bit overpriced for the overall experience. Service as I mentioned was good but not amazing.

SEAFOOD DONE RIGHT

By shantelkent |

What an amazing dinner. We arrived at 5 and were seated right away. Nick our waiter was truly amazing and was so attentive. I went in for my favorite, the Halibut which is pure heaven and never disappoints. It was light, flavorful and flaky. It was just the best. My husband got 12 oysters on the halfshell... sorry but for me thats yuck... He however raved about them, he said thay were like little taste of the ocean in a shell. We also drank some amazing libations, espresso martini, Apple martini, moscato di asti , a few old fashions... it was yummmy yummmy. My husband had the pound of Alaska crab which they shelled perfectly for him. All in all it was terrific and we will definitely be back. On a side note make sure you valet, its totally worth not waiting

Great Food, Adult Beverages, and Service!

By Moraima G |

We have been to the bar area of this restaurant for Happy Hour but had not had dinner in their dining room until last night. Before being seated, we went to the bar and the bar tender made us excellent drinks. Dinner was excellent. I had the chopped salad, shrimp scampi, and baked Alaska for dessert. My wife and I shared a bottle of Rodney Strong Cabernet. She had the tuna appetizer, rock fish, and sorbet for dessert. The food and beverages were excellent and our server, Brian, was outstanding. He was pleasant, polite, friendly, efficient and funny, but what I especially liked was that our water glasses were continuously refilled without us having to ask and he brought bread and appetizers as soon as we were seated. His attention to detail was noticed and appreciated. We will be returning to this restaurant.

Pricey lunch

By Elizabeth J |

A soggy grilled cheese sandwich with a couple of small, fishy-tasting lobster bits, one little cup of delicious clam chowder and a glass of iced tea set me back $38 (including tip.) I like the decor here and the bartender provided responsive table service in the bar area, but this meal was definitely NOT one worth remembering.

A Seafood Extravaganza !!

By Rovena |

Oceanaire Seafood Room in Houston, Texas, is a culinary masterpiece! From the moment we stepped in, we knew we were in for a treat. The atmosphere was vibrant and sophisticated, perfect for a night out. But what truly stole the show was the exceptional service and outstanding cuisine! Every dish was a seafood lover's dream come true, with fresh, expertly prepared ingredients that exploded with flavor. The staff's knowledge and enthusiasm only added to the experience. With top-notch cocktails, impeccable service, and a lively yet refined ambiance, Oceanaire Seafood Room is a must-visit destination in Houston. We can't wait to return and indulge in their seafood splendor once again!

Great Seafood

By Hernan D |

Located in The Galleria mall this restaurant offers a good variety of seafood and other dishes, customer service is outstanding and the quality of the food is awesome...fresh, well cooked, great presentation. A must go place when visiting Houston

Fresh Delicious Seafood

By J F |

Visiting this establishment on a quiet Wednesday was perfect to catch up with friends. Some of the party ordered off the Houston Restaurants Weeks menu to benefit our local Food Bank and some didn't but this did not slow our server down a bit. Andre was personable friendly and helpful answering questions and guiding us when requested. The crab cakes were some of the best we have ever had while the salmon and swordfish were also given high reviews. The chocolate mousse bar with three chocolate flavors was a perfect finish to a great evening.

A bit snotty service, but food always great

By Lars B H |

Every city in the US with an Oceanaire restaurant is worth the visit, and when in Houston I always have a meal there. I went with three colleagues for dinner one night in early March 2017 and they delivered nicely, albeit the waiter had a bit of a snotty and arrogant attitude which I find unusual in American eateries. The experience overall was fine and I have no qualms revisiting the next time around !

Terrible service and poor management attitude

By Connor J |

On appearance this is a higher end seafood restaurant. In actuality, the service was very slow, the restaurant was understaffed and the prices are higher than they need to be. Most off putting was when I attempted to bring up some concerns with the GM in person, she was rude, inconsiderate and couldn't even acknowledge that anything goes wrong. Save your money, go somewhere else for both fresher seafood and actual hospitality.

Awesome Restaurant, Great Happy Hour

By HoustonFoodAndWine |

This restaurant, aside from serving one of my favorite foods (seafood), also has one of my favorite ambiances - that of a traditional, white tablecloth steakhouse/chophouse, only with more of a coastal emphasis. My first (and only, so far) experience has been for Happy Hour, which was excellent, but my wife & I certainly plan on returning for dinner soon.

Great food, attentive staff

By NannyGoat2956 |

We went to Oceanaire on Saturday evening to celebrate family birthdays. We had a reservation for 6:30 and were actually seated before that time. Wait staff was great as well as the food. We tried the crab cakes; (best I've eaten!), the clam chowder; (much better than in Maine!), lobster mac & cheese is great. Everyone was completely satisfied. Thank you for taking such good care of us!

An Excellent Family Dinner

By Sara S |

A beautiful place to dine and treat my college kid who can’t get good seafood on campus. The ambience of the restaurant is very chic and inviting. Food is expertly-prepared with fresh ingredients. More importantly the waitstaff wears cloth mask and gloves, which makes me feel very safe. One of the best restaurants to dine in Houston.

Great food, great service

By sueandtom776 |

Our first visit to The Oceanaire, but it won't be our last! The service was impeccable, Juan gave us good advice and made our meal a wonderful experience. The halibut was cooked perfectly and the whole snapper was truly a dining delight.

Never again

By iman h |

Came in on a Friday night, group of 5. Service was very slow even though the restaurant was pretty empty. The dishes are way overpriced for the quantity. $30 for 6 fried shrimp and a pile of fries? No thanks. I had the grilled octopus and 2 oysters-1 cape cod, and another one I can't remember. Oysters were ok, octopus was fine (a little burnt) but it was fine. I actually mostly enjoyed the yucca from the octopus dish. It was crispy on the outside and so creamy on the inside. The others ordered the shrimp scampi and said it was good, and it did actually look good. Wouldn't come back, but at least I got to try octopus. We really wanted to get the baked alaska, but of course it contains alcohol for it to light up. We asked the waitress if she could just scrape off the meringue after the fire went out and she gladly did it.

For sophisticated seafood and drinks, it's the best

By Phineas55 |

Fantastic seafood, sophisticated setting, delightful servers. Dined twice here on the third night of a four-night visit to Houston, came back the next night and wish we were staying longer to come back again. The shrimp cocktail is a meaty, savory feast by itself. Robust chowder. All fish flown in in fresh daily - the ones we had were superb. excellent wines, heady cocktails. The swingin' playlist and romantic lighting add the perfect touches. 5 out of 5 stars, hands down.

We love this restaraunt

By Merlin H |

I've been to this restaurant once before and was not disappointed at all. My wife and I took some friends this past week and were once again pleasantly surprised. What a great place.

Great Steak!

By wakapaddler |

This is a seafood restaurant, but took the risk and ordered a fillet mignon, with shrimps. I order medium rare, and this was perfect. This was the best steak I'd had in years so is what will always make this restaurant memorable for me. Apart from that the food, drinks and service was fine, although not what I'd call above average (or memorable) for a restaurant in the higher price bracket. For me, you need to have top notch servers to get five stars, but we'd certainly go back here if we stay in the area again.

Try the scallops, you've never had better

By louz971 |

Very accommodating staff, excellent server (ask for Sarah) table of five, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and five excellent meals. Texas and all its restaurants are 100% occupancy, 3/2021 everyone came thru the front door with a smile on their face, dressed to the nines - looking forward to a normal night out in Texas

Best Oysters

By mehryne |

If you are an oyster lover, this is the place to go. They carry the freshest oyster you can find anywhere in Houston. Great ambiance, great service, great food.

What a HUGE disappointment

By Cynthia S |

HUGE disappointment! We booked this reservation as a party of two for a birthday celebration. When we arrived most of the restaurant staff was dedicated to checking in several people for a special event. We eventually got seated upstairs. This section of the restaurant is clearly overflow and lacks the ambience of the main restaurant. The ambience was further ruined by the speeches and clapping etc. from the special event. The service and food were adequate. As I mentioned, we indicated a birthday celebration when we made the reservation, yet not one single employee in the entire restaurant ever mentioned this nor wished my partner a happy birthday. Nothing about this evening felt special! No manager ever came upstairs to ask how our evening was or to check in on the customers. There is a published dress code at the hostess station but it is completely unenforced. There is a quote at the bottom of the restaurant bill that says “There are NO spare customers” by Tilman J Fertitta. That quote makes a wonderful bumper sticker. Too bad it’s not an actual philosophy embraced by Oceanaire.

Excellent Lunch option at the Galleria

By FernandoMexico8 |

I recommend The Oceanaire for a wonderful lunch. Crab cakes are amazing, as well as the different fish entre options. Try the cobia, very tasty and well prepared.

Most Memorable Experience!!

By A. Sanchez |

Oceanaire was the best experience I have ever had! Brian George was the most attentive restaurant general manager I have had the pleasure of speaking with. His attention to detail was impeccable. Our server, Andre, was extremely impressive when it came down to the perfect wine for dinner, the menu and the perfect choice for desert. The entire meal was prepared to perfection! I highly recommend visiting there for an absolute spectacular dining experience.

Botched-up reservation.

By fdemirmen |

A few days before, called and made reservation for 4 for the New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2016. I said I want a table away from the entrance and the restrooms. I was told "no problem." To make sure we would show up, I had to give my credit card number, and was warned a $100 charge if no-show. An hour later I called back and repeated my request, and were told "no problem." We arrived exactly on time. We were shown to a table right at the entrance and next to the restrooms. There was NO reserved table. All they said was: "We are sorry." It was totally irresponsible. Will never visit again. Not to stress my guests, I settled to go upstairs. The food was fine.

Extremely disappointed!

By miaPortNechestx |

We ate at this restaurant during Houston restaurant week. Our experience was extremely disappointing. When you walk into a restaurant that is suppose to be of this caliber and the waiter pours water into your glass that has lipstick all over it, I guess that should have been our first clue. My daughter's glass was also dirty. The olive tray on the table looked as if it has been left over from another customer. Service (except for the person filling water glasses) was terrible. I asked the waiter if he could saute my shrimp without garlic. He said the chef said no - should have been another clue - seemed to me that this food was probably premade. My entree was delivered in a small bowl that was no bigger than a bread plate with 5 small shrimp. The shrimp tasted and looked frozen and the grits were hard, lumpy, and gritty. My daughter got an appetizer of shrimp that was soggy and tasted so bad that she could not eat them. My other daughter and her husband ordered the surf and turf - well the turf looked gray and as if it had been parbroiled. My husband's fish was a very small 1 piece filet that was white with very little seasoning. Everything is also ala carter for sides. I would be very upset if this were my restaurant with the caliber of chefs and waiters. Waiter did not seem to want to be there.

Steak at a seafood place?- yes I will. And a great bar.

By Jkwusa |

You might not go to a seafood restaurant for a filet mignon, but I ended up doing that. Preceded by a beet/spinach salad- which was also excellent. Bartender Ryan and the rest of the staff were top notch. A cocktail guru. Top marks on this place.

Great place for lunch

By John P |

If you are looking for one of the best seafood restaurants around, it’s hard to beat the Oceanaire! On this visit I had the swordfish with lemon and butter and it was fantastic. As it is attached to the Galleria, it serves as a great place to dine after a busy shopping experience. For those just dropping in to dine, they offer valet parking.

Birthday

Great food. A bit pricey, but enjoyed the evening with family and friends. We had a large party of 13, so I believe they included gratuity in the personalized birthday menu!

Great dinner for New Years eve

Birthday Dinner

By chriskE3183UR |

Delicious birthday dinner Friday night. Arrived at 6:30 pm and got the best table in the restaurant overlooking Westheimer very few people there. The crowd started arriving around 7:30 and after. Service was to notch. Food was all great. Started with shrimp and grits appetizer. It was as good as anywhere I had it. Perfect size for the 4 of us; each person gut a shrimp. Appetizer was so good I decided to order 2 for my main course. Very happy with my selection of Shrimp Diablo and Tuna Tower. Highly recommend both. My son had the Muscles and Calamari appetizers and couldn’t eat it all. The girls had Crab cakes and Lobster Trio. Everything was great. I give the restaurant a 10 for food and service. We’ve been there before and We’ll be back.

An excellent evening

On the spur of the moment we decided to go our for dinner. Oceannaire is one of our common go-to places, so I made quick reservations and headed there. We got a great table, with a view of most of the restaurant. Our server was a polite, calm and helpful young woman who remained attentive to our nneds even when the place filled up. The food was outstanding. The King crab and fresh lobster were delicious and perfectly prepared and presented. The Dover sole, fileted at tableside was superb and the John Dory, exquisite! A great bottle of Pieropan La ROcca completed the evening. For dessert, we had a baked Alaska: it was good, but we've had better. Overall, an excellent meal.

NIce date night

By Wep25 |

Went for restaurant week, and was favorably impressed. High-end service and very good food. The whole experience makes dinner there an "event", customers are well dressed and the place is big-city professionally run. Only quibble is that it is quite loud, mostly because the tables are very closely crammed together. But we had a great time and ate very well.

“Strawberry Grouper Forever” Dinner at Oceanaire

By M_D_Quest |

I had one of the most amazing meals in a good while. Strawberry Grouper was off the hook good. Raw oysters and shrimp cocktail where super fresh. If you haven’t had there sides I our missing out. Lobster Mac and spinach. Yum!! The only real issue was it took a really long time to get our appetizers and main course. I’m talking 30 minutes to get the appetizers and 45 more minutes for our dinner. Love the place but over two hours for dinner is a bit long.

Very Good

By Alvaro E |

Had a business dinner here with clients and really was very good.Nice setting, well located next to a shopping mall, very firendly staff which knew the menu "in and out", able to explain the dishes and provide recommendations. Food was very good, tasty and well prepared. Maybe the only negative was that there was a party on the first floor of the restaurant, where there was a terrace overseeing the main restaurant area and somtimes it was really excessively lound. Besides this a really great dining experience. Can recommend and no doubt that will return next time I´m in the area.

Roach on the wall with an egg sack

By sam k |

1st visit, celebrated anniversary. Had a reservation for 9pm, didn't get a table until 10pm. Like whats the point of a reservation. Service was ok, food was actually pretty good. Ruined my night though leaving when we saw a roach crawling on the wall with an egg sack attached. Isnt this place suppose to be a nice place?

Excellent Seafood & Service

By MSLovell |

Monday night, early evening. Restaurant has sophisticated ambiance & good service. The menu is very extensive and takes a while to review. My primary concern is the cost. Six oysters, 2 entrees was $100. No salad, no sides. Scallops were outstanding, Mahi Mahi was pretty dry.

Excellent Dinner Option!! 💯

By CSelva |

We were in Houston for the weekend, staying by the Galleria and the restaurant caught our eye. We tried to reserve but it was booked. But we ventured out anyway. When we got there, the stewardess said they had no tables but we had the option of sitting at the bar where they had actual tables. We gladly accepted and had a wonderful dinner. Wine! Appetizers - recommend the Chesapeake Bay Crab Cake - delicious!! Dinner and dessert!! Everything was perfect and the service was great! Highly recommend!! 💯

Family Birthday Dinner

By msr345 |

This is a very nice high end restaurant located in Galleria area of Houston with easy access from freeway. It has a valet parking service and very nice and friendly staff. The ambience with very good and attractive with modern look. It provides so many entre' choices including seafood and stake. Chef's specials provided excellent opportunity to taste different foods and sides. It has full bar that is willing to accommodate need for low sugar content drink. Only complaint was 2 lb dover sole fish did not appear to meet its content value.

Nice place, upscale

By WhaGwanMiDere |

Been to The Oceanaire in Dallas many times, and always enjoy it. We were in Houston for a long weekend and decided to try the place while there. Food is the same quality as it is in Dallas. Love, love, love their crab cakes! The lobster mac & cheese is equally tasty. Enjoyed our night out very much. However, the atmosphere just isn't what it is at the Dallas location. They really should close the curtains so patrons aren't watching the heavy traffic on Westheimer - making it a bit more of an intimate atmosphere.

Great Time!

By dmwartburg2015 |

Visited the restaurant last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. Had a great waiter, Jack, and had a fantastic time. Yes, it is expensive, but the staff take really great care of you. We had specialty cocktails to start dinner, which were very good, and set the mood for dinner. We started off with a house salad, huge portion, for my wife, and I had a sampler of oysters on the half shell. The oysters were from the northeast coast and ranged from sweet to very salty, but I wanted a wide spectrum for taste. The bluepoint was the best tasting. For dinner, my wife had the Costa Rican Mahi Mahi with a blood orange sauce, very tasty. I had the seafood mixed grill - two scallops, 3 jumbo shrimp, and a lobster tail - all were grilled to perfection. Their sides are huge and served family style. We chose the baby carrots with a great glaze and took half of them home. For dessert, we were comped a baked Alaska, that really topped off the evening. It was very delicious! The restaurant is rather pricy, but is very much worth it as the staff is attentive, the food was delivered hot and too perfection. Is not an every week place we'd go, but for a special occasion, we'll be back.

No Reservation/No problem

By Tim B |

We went to the Galleria, decided to try to eat here. We didn't have reservations, not a problem. Fresh wonderful menu. The best crab cake I have ever eaten. Fresh fish also was amazing. Nice view of a busy city! Lobster mac and cheese also a must!

A Must Try For Restaurant Weeks

By Aztxcat |

First of all, I love Art Deco so I give 5 stars just for the decor. All of the wait staff were very professional & very good about refills & not being too intrusive. The bread was great & they also bring a crudités plate which had olives, pickles, cucumbers, carrots, etc. Now the reason we were here, 3 courses for $35! I had the wedge salad, which was good & big, the surf & turf. The steak was good & the lobster tail was flavorful enough that it didn't need butter. I ordered the bread pudding for dessert & aside from the raisins, I thought was great. Everyone at our table ordered the same appetizer & entree but we each had different desserts. The baked Alaska was not very good. I would not recommend that. I had them box up my leftover steak & lobster tail but they forgot the lobster & ended up giving me a whole new one. I'd recommend the Oceanaire just for the decor & service but the food was very good as well. I will definitely come back!

Very fresh!

By DrWorldWide |

This is an excellent option for high end, fresh seafood, in Houston. The menu changes daily and the offerings are plentiful. There are plenty of oysters, fish, shellfish, and deserts to choose from. We had a great time, service was good (not excellent as times before), and all the food was excellent.

Servers JUMP ship

By imssc1 |

Our family were regulars here 3 years ago when Skip King was the head chef. Since he left the food has been spotty along with the service. Yesterday, my wife and I decided to give it another try since I had a $25 Landry's gift credit for my birthday that expired soon. Some of our friends warned us that since NOBU and Fig and Olive opened up in the Galleria that the Oceanaire's seasoned servers jumped ship and left this restaurant with a skeleton crew. We arrived for a late Friday 1:30 lunch and found no one at the reception desk. I peeked into the cavernous dining room and saw 4 tables with patrons and NO servers. I looked around the bar area and only saw the suited manager making small talk withthe bartender oblivious to his patrons. Finally, the receptionist, Buffy, showed up. She said we could have any table. When we chose a table I had to bus the crumbs and liquid from my seat. We waited 10 minutes and saw 2 servers preparing tables for the evening 20 feet away. No water, no servers approached. We got up to leave and Buffy asked if there was a problem. I told her the 2 servers were too busy cleaning other tables. She sarcastically replied to give them a few more minutes because she knew we didn't want to look at dirty tables. I would have preferred to have an initial clean table and FOOD. The valet didn't even charge us the $11 saying this happens a lot since most the good servers left. Never Again. We went down the street to The Grotto and saw our regular seasoned waitstaff.

Happy hour

By houstontravelingfool |

Four of us had intended to go for dinner but noticed some yummy looking small bites as we walked through the bar area. We, instead, sat at one of the tables there in the bar and feasted on some of the happy hour offerings. Everything was delicious - and more than ample in serving size. We had the crab cake sliders (3), Parmesan truffle fries, oysters on the half shell, fish tacos (2) and ahi tuna tower (fabulous). They also offered wine and beer at happy hour prices - all served before 7pm. Service was good. We’ll definitely do this again, soon!

Fresh seafood

My wife and I went this weekend, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the service from the waiter was very attentive to our needs, the dishes were delicious, the lobster had a very rich flavor and the sushi was also very fresh, I would definitely return

Great food

By TES-PA |

This restaurant in the Galleria mall. Food and service was excellent, one of the more expensive restaurants but definitely worth it.

Outstanding Dover sole

By Gabriel H |

We return periodically to this restaurant which offers the most consistent, fresh and well prepared fish and seafood in town. The wine list is not extensive, but it offers quality selections from various parts of the world, especially those that pair well with fish and seafood dishes. The crudites served automatically are lame and probably don't do much for the image of the restaurant or for your palate. The Spicy Tuna Tower is outstanding! So is the fried Calamari dish, but we have learned it is too filling and takes away from the main dish. The Dover sole was expertly prepared and fileted, and delicate and delicious. Our server was very attentive and helpful.

On the mend

By Gabriel H |

Having skipped this place for a number of months, we returned for dinner. As always, the dining area is nice, especially downstairs. The service is efficient and friendly, without being in your face. The fish and seafood is always the strength of the place: everything we ordered was fresh. No fish smell anywhere in the restaurant and the raw bar looked great. The wine list is reasonable and the prices are right.

Not worth the money

By Jane |

I had eaten at the Oceanaire in DC and would rank it with 5 stars. The menu was different and the service was impeccable. The one in Houston- not so much. It was extremely expensive for each item. You could order a fish dish for say $35. If you want a salad, that would be another day $15. A side was about $18. The atmosphere wasn’t great. It felt like a restaurant in a hotel.

Mom's 90th Birthday Memorable Party

By Travelfrquently |

I tend to avoid anything near the Galleria because of the congestion in that area, But I was pleasantly surprised by Ocenaire. We had a very large party and were well served by the wait staff. No glass was empty nor plate empty for long. It was a fabulous occasion. When looking at my pictures and the menu, some items were not listed Thanks

Upscale prices, but not a food and service

By Shil600 |

My second time here and last one. Short: My first dring came in 35! minutes, second in 20 after that and I asked for it like 3 times! Oysters came in 50 minutes! Restaurant half empty. Waiter clearly doesn't know, what he is doing. "Whipped" potato has a chanks of potato in it. John Dori fish overcooked and test like frozen hake. Service is horible, just wait and wait and wait for everything. Upscale only by the price! Wanted to escape from there, but don't want to frastrate my family.

Fancy Wancy

By Gloria A |

This is a great place to take your love or friends for a delicious calorie laden dinner! They offer scrumptious appetizers such as fresh salmon, spicy shrimp, and fried calamari. The entrees are to die for!! We had crab cakes, fried lobster, and salmon. All the food was so fresh and yummy. They have a great list of wines, and drinks. Oh, did I mention desserts? We tried bread pudding, key lime cheese cake and a 7 layered chocolate cake! You must try out this.gorgeous restaurant.

Great service but disappointing food quality

By knight2222 |

The restaurant looked nice and the server was wonderful. My wife and I shared a bottle of wine and an appetizer and an entree. The food was quite underwhelming especially for the price.

Graduation celebration

By dorysdad |

Restaurant is elegant. Service is top notch. Oysters are always fresh and there is a good selection. Consistently great experience.

The shrimp and grits were just what the headache needed

By Ckethley |

I stumbled into Oceanaire after a relatively fun night. As it turned out, shrimp and grits were calling my name. Now these aren't your average shrimp and grits, these are served with a creole butter sauce and they have a little kick to them. I was very pleased with the level of spice and taste. The bartender was very sweet and knowledgeable.

Delicious seafood!

By PPPhelps |

The seafood is delicious and the service was great, but it's way too pricey to be considered one of our regulars. Parking and construction in the Galleria is a hassle so allow drive time. Our dinner reservation wasn't honored because the restaurant had overbooked so we had to wait over an hour before being seated. Luckily, the bar serves great cocktails and the manager gave us complementary appetizers which was a table pleaser. Don't let your entree's presentation out dress you! Consider dressing in a more elegant (casual) attire. This location is great for a romantic date night or special occasion.

Fresh catch and wonderful preparation

By doctorlehmann |

Having experienced fresh tuna in Grand Cayman I can attest that the preparation and presentation of my tuna dish at Oceanaire was second to none. Couple that with ambience and excellent service and that makes for a wonderful evening. My wife had a filet...also excellent!

Seafood Lovers' Paradise

By Vic777_12 |

If it's swimming or crawling in the ocean it's on this menu. I assume everything is fresh and, if so, their shipping bills must be extraordinary for the multiple oyster offerings alone. This is an upscale Galleria (you can get a Prada purse for $2,800 across the hall in the mall) establishment and if you love seafood I can think of no better place in Houston. There are some creative chefs in that kitchen. The pasta is made fresh as well; If ravioli is on any dish, just get it. The service was first class as well. Surprisingly, the prices are very affordable for the quality you're getting. Our only issue (thus the 4 rating) was there was no easy way to get a cocktail from the bar unless you were sitting there; A hostess helped us but she kinda had to in order for us to have something. Perhaps they were short staffed as there were at least two large parties going on upstairs, and it was still happy hour. No worries.

Excellent food poor staff service.

By Joe M |

The food was great, I had the tuna, the service was horrible. Wow what a waste. Really food great. We sat at the bar the they could of cared less we were there. took forever to get any service. Almost walked out. No the place was not busy, The staff just wanted to talk to each other.

Perfect dinner.

By Angela Holtz |

Just as good as the one in DC! Great service! We loved the suggestions given by our waiter. Especially when it came to wine pairings and food selections. We were about to leave, but decided to stay and have an after dinner drink. We just couldn’t make ourselves leave. The restaurant is beautiful.

Good fish

By Hein O |

Decent seafood on the menu. Started with oysters which were tasty, had tuna as a main which was well cooked. Cheesecake desert was large and the waiter recommended to share, good advice. All tasted well bit nothing exciting at this price level.

Good selection of fresh fish and seafood

By Gabriel H |

Elegant restaurant in the Galleria. Easy access from the street and from inside the Mall. Efficient valet parking. Spacious bar area, with ready access to raw bar. Very good selection of wines by the glass and by the bottle. Good, solid service. Very good selection of appetizers, both cold and hot, especially from the raw bar. The selection of fish was excellent, expertly prepared to our specifications. delightful sides. A modest selection of desserts: try the Baked Alaska, and make sure to share (it is huge!).

On point Surf & Turf

By ecfontenot |

The atmosphere here is very soothing, cool blues tones, plush seating, low background music and unobtrusive wait staff. The Surf & Turf with a 6 oz. Wagyu steak and 6 oz. lobster tail was perfectly cooked. The sourdough bread is absolutely fabulous with fresh butter and the relish tray on ice is a great way to start the meal. Individual baked Alaska and bread pudding desserts were fabulous.

Happy Hour

By Latiesha Johnson |

This is one of my favorite Happy Hour spots. I love the Shrimp & Grits big bites on the Happy Hour menu because it's enough to make for a meal if you don't eat much. The Shrimp Diablo, fish tacos & the crabcake sliders are some of my other favorites from the cheaper bites selection.

Rather average with sluggish service

By AbbieA A |

The restaurant is lovely and I had expectations for a great dinner. Found it rather overated. Average food and service was slow not memorable.

Outstanding food and outstanding service

By Krishna M |

last month was restaurant week in Houston and me & mrs got a chance to try several places. Oceanaire turned out to be best. Great place to sit, good ambiance, attentive service, sumptuous drinks, and even the food is fantastic! I had crab cake (one of my favourites, since I am from East Coast), and red snapper. It was grilled simply, and tasted great!

excellent service! very good food! always a classy place to go and have dinner!

By joselito1959 |

Service was excellent. our server, Andre was very professional and very friendly. he really knew the menu very well. he was on top of his game. love (as always) the fresh hot bread and butter. the jumbo shrimp cocktail was perfect! and of course the wedge salad, excellent. the seafood chopped salad , so flavorful and so fresh! the bone-in ribeye cooked to perfection (medium rare). excellent flavor. was not too impressed with the chicken fried lobster (matter of preference). others found it very good. it is one of their most popular items. never had to wait for refills of water.

Overpriced, mediocre

By DRJLF |

This place had the airs of fancy...they diverted us to the raw bar with "full service" Seems the dining room is the main event because the "full" service did not really know what they were doing....had a filet with shrimp and shrimp and grits. Both were acceptable but not overly generous and certainly not 4star. Hopefully the main dining room was better although we saw the wait staff there running around like mad people...short staffed?

Good for the atmosphere and service. Food? You decide.

Houston Restaurant Weeks is always a great glimmer of hope in the balmy August hotbox we call Houston weather. My friends and I always visit some steakhouse or fine dining establishment to get a taste of the Houston restaurant scene we don't always take the time to enjoy. I set a reservation through Opentable and I arrived on time, though my friends did not. I was greeted by a super friendly reception desk person, who commiserated with me about my friends' tardiness. I was (surprisingly) seated right away though the party was not 100% present. When they arrived, they were ushered to the table, without issue. We were seated at a table along a main walking thoroughfare, near the kitchen. One of my super "particular" friends questioned the table location but, I convinced him to stay put and we made the best of it. By us not moving tables, we were subjected to the loud cackling of a neighboring table. By the number of the multicolored cocktails in martini glasses passing by, I think there was a bachelorette party pre-dinner going on in the corner. I ordered the filet mignon (with $12 upgrade), Caesar salad, the hashbrown and asparagus (a la carte pricing on both) and the choco-raspberry tort. One friend got the shrimp starter (though they were too stingy for me to taste) and the other chose the gumbo starter, then both ordered the shrimp-fried rice as their mains. They liked it; I did not ask, nor did they offer for me to taste, so I'm going based on their "mmmmms" and "that's good". Summation: Caesar: Great dressing on a standard salad. Good portion and fresh Filet Mignon: cooked to my preferred temp, though not seasoned well (salt people!) - not worth the $12 upgrade hashbrown: excellent; crispy and tender, at the same time asparagus: cooked well, but flavorless (salt or butter would have been great) tort: good ending to an OK meal - flourless and reminded me of a fudge brownie The shining light of the experience was our server - Estefany. She was polite, accommodating and very patient with all of the questions we posed about the menu. The front desk staff also snapped photos of us, as we exited without a tooth suck or eye roll. Pros: decent value, based on usual steakhouse prices, friendly staff from the beginning to the end of the experience Cons: cackling table that managers didn't try to quiet down, (un)salted steak/veggies

Oceanaire Seafood Restaurant inside Houston Galaria

By Miranda C |

Nice decor but ambiance was killed by noisiness of restaurant and it sounded like a school cafeteria and the three of us git sick afterward. Our medium steaks were more on the rare side and bled onto our seafood which was also under cooked. Very disappointed because I have eaten here in the past and now the food and service seemed to go down hill. The manager came out to our table but didn't offer us anything but her apology.

OK food, not ok service

By PattyArchi |

Went to the Oceanaire Seafood Room with a party of 3. The food was ok but we ordered a bottle of wine which was not delivered to our table until after we had finshed our entrees. We were told they had to "find" the wine. Don't fault the waitress but really? Monday night and not very crowded. Great cocktails though.

Disappointing, poor service

By Eric W |

The service was not what it used to be. I went with customers to the Oceanaire many times during OTC, spends a lot of $$. service and food was always great. This time we had to wait very long before we got served and it was maybe 2/3 full. Starters were very taste full, main coarse, my Tuna was OK, nothing special. After dinner the desert was half served, we tried to order some other deserts but we couldn’t 2200hrs and restaurant was closing, lights on. We even couldn’t order a last drink?? For me the last time.

Chefs throw down night!

By 116Burch |

We had the privilege of dining here for a chefs throw down night. Since this restaurant is owned by the Landry's group, they held their second event, pinning the Morton's steakhouse chefs against the Oceanaire chefs. What a cool concept, they had been planning the event for months. When we first entered, we were greeted by the staff and brought upstairs for champagne and hors d'oeuvres to get things going. We were then seated and introduced to the GM to explain how the dining was going to function. This was a 5 course meal, two plates each brought out by each chef. We then judged each plate and votes were counted . Food was excellent, enjoyed the tempura lobster tail and wagyu filet. Wonderful flavors and unique combinations of spices and herbs. Each course was paired with wine, we tried a few that we have not had before. I cant say enough about the food, just fantastic. The event as a whole was so much fun. We got to meet the chefs at the end of the night and talk with some of the staff. Everyone was so friendly, the service was great. I look forward to another event like this one. I did not get to try any food of the menu but I am sure that it is top notch. The restaurant is very nice, elegant dining experience. They do have valet parking which I would recommend, this was part of the event. We look forward to our next visit to try some other items off the menu. If you see another event like this pop up, don't hesitate, it sells out the same day. Highly recommend for a unique experience.

Terrible Experience

By Alecia C |

We tried for Houston restaurant week. It was a terrible experience. The glasses were dirty with lipstick and silverware was not clean. The seafood dishes were terrible. This is not what I was expecting as we love Landry’s restaurants. There is so many great seafood options in Houston and this is not to par and not worth the price. In my opinion try another option. We will not be going back

Fantastic service and fiid

By Bethberrie |

My colleague and I dined here after a long day of work in Houston. We ate in the bar. They have an extensive wine menu... pleasantly surprised to see a Coravin by the glass menu, offering some of the best wines by the glass! We ate shrimp and grits, a treat for us. Nice ambiance, attentive service, and a great way to end a tiring day.

Worst experience ever at a Landry’s Establishment!!

By Hbonnee |

Oceanaire Oct 11, 2018- Thursday (This review is based on the service not the food.) General manager Marijke Shugrue at the time of closing my bill would not allow me to add points to my husbands Landry’s rewards card for this visit when the staff has done so a few times before. This has never been an issue before. Marijke said that this was against company policy! I pointed out to Marijke so your staff allowed me to do this against company policy several times before and her response was “yeah maybe!” She obviously could care less with this attitude! What was really discouraging is that I was not trying to redeem the points to pay for my meal, but to add reward points to my husbands account. What brought about this entire discussion and refusal was that I had an issue with my bill. I ordered the HH mussels for $8 which turned into a $15 charge, since I added noodles to the broth! This $7 upcharge for a very small portion of noodles was absolutely ridiculous. I expressed my concern with Marijke and in return she denied adding the points to my husbands rewards acct. Marijke as a manager was more interested in hanging out and carrying on with the people at the bar, as well as some of the bartenders and waiters. It is obvious the customer service is lacking. The food has always been great, but for such a high end restaurant the service has never been stellar. We had to ask for water and at times we had to get the staffs attention while they were hanging out at the bar. This was unacceptable! Not to mention, they incorrectly charged my best friends meal, the jumbo shrimp scampi menu price of $26, bill reflected $30! Lack of attention!!!! I would never recommend anyone ever to this establishment again!! This is coming now from an ex-regular customer.

Seafood at its best!

Best Seafood and Service

By Seaside30362992750 |

The Waiter and Food was Incredible!! A romantic atmosphere on top of it!! We had the Lobster Tails and that night they offered a 3 course meal and the price was VERY reasonable! The drinks and wine were also fantastic!

What a great place for really good and fresh seafood

By Tlcwacjac |

Really nice place for a business meal, a date, or a family celebration. Service is excellent and the food is fantastic. At our table we had a little surf and turf and everyone was really pleased, including those that opted for steak. The soups and salads were tasty and well presented. I think I got the best dessert, traditional key lime pie, but those that had the turtle cheese cake and even the ones who had the sorbet thought they took the prize...

Beautiful Views and Wonderful Food

By Rachelle K |

My husband and I recently went to this location on a couple's night out and we really enjoyed ourselves. It is a nice place to go if you and your significant other will like to dress up and enjoy each other's company over good conversation and food. They are very accommodating and celebrate special occasion's with you by printing Happy Birthday or anniversary on the menu which you get to keep. The other couple we went with wanted to try it out because of restaurant week in Houston. May I say the menu did not disappoint. I LOVE their crab cakes that is enough to keep me coming back to this restaurant each time!

Food was disgusting and service was slow and there wasn’t to many people in the restaurant (now I know why) I love seafood so we decided to give them a try.... but nope epic fail! Save your time and money. The inside of the restaurant is nice.

Mediocre Experience

By ARuss03 |

This was our first time dining at Oceanaire Seafood Room. We came for HRW, and had a reservation for 7:15. We were seated almost immediately. However, it took a significant amount of time before our waitress even greeted or acknowledged us. Several servers were going back and forth right in front of us but not one said a word to us. They were more focused on their own tables then surrounding tables/guests. From the moment we sat down at our table to the time we left, it was 2 hours. I believe the kitchen was backed up from the amount of people dinning. There were several selections on the HRW menu, more than a lot of other locations. The quality of the food was mediocre, we do not plan to come back to try out the full menu selections as we were not overly impressed by HRW.

Great service....

By Amanda W |

My husband and I have eaten dinner at The Oceanaire twice in post month and both visits the food was wonderful & the service was excellent! Our first visit we went alone, but the second visit we brought the kids along with us... they all enjoyed their meal! Highly recommend if you are in the Galleria area :)

Do not support Landry Corp

By sam k |

Visited the oceanaire at the galleria. Long story short came back to my car with a bunch of nasty stuff dripped all over my car from a pipe. Filed a claim with the mall but they said landrys was responsible as tenants per lease agreement. Tried very hard with multiple calls to get this resolved but they are trying to weasel out of responsibility. Extremely rude and threatened me with hpd removal if I came down there. What other choices do I have other than call unsuccessfully or come down there and by the way that incident was on my wedding anniversary and totally ruined my night as I had to rewash and wax my car at 1am in the morning when we got home. That's how tall treat a customer who just spent $200 at your restaurant? BTW there was a roach crawling on the wall in the restaurant with an eggsack attached.

Absolutely delicious!

By merelywendy |

Stumbled upon this amazing while shopping the Galleria. First time in Texas, first restaurant pick and home run. Amazingly accommodating service, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere and lovely wine list. I was here for a leisurely lunch and I can only imagine how spectacular dinner would be. Varied menu with full raw bar selections. I'll be back!

It was a nice place and cool to try. But our waiter took his time getting to us just to order drinks and then even longer wait to place order with him. But, it was great food. We had a nice time.

Overall a solid option for seafood lovers. Plenty of menu options and multiple daily changes. The chicken and steak are good as well. Overall a bit pricey but that is expected. Service was fine.

All Around Good Experience

By WanderingEarthling |

I reserved the table on OpenTable app and requested a quiet table for a business dinner. When we got there, the restaurant was pretty empty, and were seated at a round table smack in the middle of the room by a major bussing / service station. It was definitely not quiet as requested, and the servers constantly were walking behind my chair, to the extent that it was distracting and uncomfortable. The food was very good and the service was very good too. Our server took great care of us. The atmosphere was pleasant and trendy, and we were able to hear each other talk across the large table even once the restaurant got pretty full. If you’re a big seafood person and in the area, I definitely recommend this restaurant.

We had a horrible dining experience. The food was good, however, the service was horrible. Our server did not pay attention to our order. The wrong first course was delivered to our table. It took way too long for our server to check on the problem. After dinner was served, we never saw our server again. We had to get up and get our own wine from the ice bucket. Then to top it off, as they were clearing away the plates, a roach ran across our table. Never going back to Oceanaire.

pricey and worth it

By Ronald W |

$200+ for 3 with drinks and worth it. best seafood I have had in quite a while; they sat me off an airplane unshaved and unshowered and the service was excellent.

excellent seafood restaurant, attentive service

By Pucci D |

I was staying in a nearby hotel and did not fancy long cab rides, my hotel told me about this place and they were right. the service is prompt, friendly and attentive, the cocktails are sharp, the place is busy but not manic, the menu is vast and the food well cooked. highly recommended.

Nice place but average in seafood quality

By Ruz |

Is a nice place which need some to take care of the presentation and the temperature of the curses. The crackers taste old , te quality in the lemons and vegetables was medium.

A perfect evening

By Gabriel H |

On the spur of the moment, we returned to Oceanaire because we didn't feel like cooking. Valet parking makes it easy, even in the Galleria. We got an excellent table, and our server was just right. We shared an appetizer of fried Calamari, which was perfect for two, while we enjoyed a delightful glass of wine. Halibut was fresh and well prepared, light enough to preserve the flavor of the fish. The Chilean Sea Bass (it was really a Sea Bass), also was fresh and perfectly made to our specification. The sides were less perfect, with the Broccolini being quite undercooked, but that was rapidly solved by our waiter. Overall, a delightful evening.

Always OUTSTANDING !!!

By dsm125 |

The Oceanaire in Houston is consistently OUTSTANDING !!! With all the great restaurants in Houston, for my wife and I, this is our go-to place for excellent fine dining. The drinks, the wines, the dinners are always superb. The servers are extremely professional and very attentive. Oceanaire is not over the top expensive, the atmosphere is very welcoming, the staff is very friendly, it is relatively quiet so you can easily talk. Oceanaire is a great place for an enjoyable evening.

Late night happy hour

By 19goSkins |

They have a reverse Happy Hour from 9pm to close and it's a great deal. In particular, the shrimp diablo, which was fantastic. Bacon wrapped with cream cheese and jalapeños. You get 3 for $7 during happy hour, compared to 4 for $16 regularly. I came in late and got two orders and water. Obviously, not a big meal (or tip) but Robert at the bar couldn't have been nicer. Great, friendly service!

High quality food

By 1146finbarm |

Easy to find, easy parking (valet or self park). Excellent quality food (surf or turf). Very knowledgeable, courteous and professional staff. Inviting décor. Comfortable seating. Appetizers and main courses were excellent. My table tried everything from steak, whole snapper and everything in between. It was all good. The deserts were crazy. Over time I have witnessed the portion sizes in Houston slim down and become closer to what a normal person can consume. The deserts at Oceanaire still reflect Texas sized. They were enormous but the quality was oh so very good. I would assess the cost as mid-range and the restaurant category as higher tier.

Expensive visit for above average seafood, sweltering dining room, HOT red wine

By PubliusTX |

The main problem on this visit was the temperature of the dining room (secondary problems: value for barely above average food and HOT wine). Our party of three was seated upstairs, and we all had problems with the temperature of the dining room. I was sweating not long after we ordered opening cocktails and they arrived. The restaurant was busy. What can you do? It was obvious that another table was not an option, and it wasn't clear it would help anyway. But it's not pleasant sitting in a too-hot restaurant in the middle of Houston summer, especially given the premium this particular restaurant charges. It largely ruined the experience. What also did not help was that the bottle of red wine we ordered was served at Houston "room temperature" (about 80 degrees, maybe higher, as if it had been stored on a high shelf, an idiotic move that so many Houston restaurants make) rather than what is considered proper temperature for serving red wine (62-65 degrees). Combined with the high temperature of the room, the warm red wine detracted from the dining experience rather than complementing it -- and at considerable expense. The food we ordered was mostly fine, although my dining companion remarked that her grits were terrible, and I was disappointed that my first selection was not available (but this is the most understandable of all the issues -- it's a fresh seafood place, after all, and sometimes items are just not going to be available). We had a Landry's Select Club balance that we cashed in that softened the blow a little, but even with this discount, this was a $100/head trip. I could not in good conscience recommend spending half that amount at this restaurant for the experience we had.

Good and fresh seafood

By doris m |

Fresh seafood, salads, scallops, shrimp. Lunch menu was not as good as the dinner. Lobster on sandwich was very expensive and found very few bits of lobster meat, instead they add lots of cheese, butter and sauce. Scallop Salad and shrimp cocktail were very good.

Outstanding service and food

By Douglas W |

Had a private dinner with about 12 business associates. Service was attentive, knowledgeable prompt. Had the crab cakes and they were outstanding. Almost no filler a plenty of crab meet. The key lime pie was a great conclusion.

Great restaurant. Horrible parking.

By Bruce R |

The food and service were top notch, but the parking situation is very frustrating. We were there on Saturday evening (granted this is a very busy time) and it took about 30 minutes for the valet to retrieve our car.

Excellent Place

By Me Anywhere |

Very nice restaurant inside The Galleria Mall. Amazing food and drinks. For entrance Calamari is a good option. You should try lobster and for drink Sparkling Raspberry Sangria, amazing. Service is really nice and the restaurant well decorated.

From Ocean to Your Plate

By Wolv3rin3 |

After a long day shopping, whilst looking for a place to dine, this seafood restaurant stands out. There's such a nice European decor to it. It's very cozy, my server Sarah was quick to serve and gave good recommendations. The oysters were super fresh and shucked half for your ease to savor. The swordfish with Pesto Pistachio sauce was just right, not to overpowering.

For Mother’s Day - Great Time!

By Gerry F |

For Mother’s Day, my husband made reservations for us, our son & daughter-in-law. Realizing that there have been Mother’s Days where the service was rushed, a pre-set menu, the food - ending up not being that great, etc. So, we were hopeful, but not optimistic. However, we had a wonderful server who literally made the Day a wonderful treat all the way around! Andre was just who we needed to make our Day extra special. His recommendations were perfect...I am a fan of capers & he said he would get them added to my Shrimp Scampi - my husband & son didn’t want on theirs. The ‘guys’ loved their Oysters & our daughter-in-law loved her Filet/French Fries. We were stuffed, but Andre recommended the ‘Strawberry Baked Alaska’ - OMGosh...the presentation was fabulous, but it tasted better than we had ever had before. We will be back - will definitely ask for Andre to assist us. Thanks for a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Lots of Choices excelent food and service.

By Mark E |

We started off with the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. Our server was well versed in the menu and descriptions. I had the Corvina, I love Corvina. Eat it almost every meal in Panama; and every chance I get in Houston. My wife had the Flounder Picante and the 5 oz lobster tail. All the food was excellent! The sauteed spinach was big enough for 4 people. This is a white table place in the Galleria. Valet parking is available. I reccommend this place without any fear of disappointing.

Good Seafood with great Service

By Willie H |

If you like a variety of good fresh seafood, then this is the place. I had some baked fish and my wife had a lobster treat and they both were delicious. This was our first trip to this restaurant and the waiter was friendly and helpful with dining suggestions.

Really Wonderful Seafood

By ls66611 |

Wife had the Arugano Cranberry Apple salad, then the salmon as her entree. I had the scallops w/asparagus on the side. The Entrees were very good, the asparagus was void of flavor. Extensive wine selection. This place is a little pricey but the quality & presentation is very good do I feel like it's worth it. Would definitely go back.

Very Yummy

By dkharris4 |

The food was really good. The Lobster Mac and Cheese is a MUST!!!!!!!!! It will literally melt in your mouth and you wont want to share.. I had steak and it was really good and tender!

Short night out

By MaryKelley |

Had dinner at the bar. Was busy and waitress was overwhelmed. Service was off and not so great ambience. Some people with babies at bar. The food was good, fish tacos were tasty and Oyster Rockefeller was delicious, Cheesy and with pancetta. Disappointed with surroundings and service.

Great Food

By Maureen D |

We had a group of about 16. Osmar was our server. He looked down his nose just the right amount at us. He patiently explained the menu to our large group. The food was delicious and the drinks were, too! The service was a little slow, but that was ok since our group was so large and we had great conversation. Check this place out if you can.

Yummy

By Patricia D |

Stopped by here while husband played in a tennis tournament. The seafood was excellent. Swordfish and yellow jack served w a tangy pesto was fresh and delicious. Happy hour prosecco and beer was great also. Easy listening in the bar was just what we needed after the drive.

If you like seafood ...

By Doug C |

We split a seafood gumbo soup and a seafood salad on date night. Those two dishes plus a glass of sauvignon blanc each and the tab came to only $45.

The star of the show wasn't the fish!

By msafari3556 |

I had the simply prepared fish (grouper). It was good, but the real stars of the meal were the sides. I would go back just for the cauliflower and the Brussels sprouts.

Disappointing evening

By suepark268 |

We were quite disappointed over all. First, the king crab husband order was much too salty and had to return it. The manager came to apologize and said he tasted it himself and found it borderline salty. Why didn’t he just say I am sorry and left it at that? It was pretty offensive. My chicken fried lobster had a lot of batter and couldn’t taste much lobster. I am not sure how other customers felt they could taste the lobster…. The cheesecake was delicious and huge. I had 2 bites and had it packed. Coffee was quite cold. Asked for second and it was also cold so gave up. As we were leaving a couple of staff members were at the front but they didn’t even say good night or thank you. We came out and was greeted by a fight between a valet and some man as all the valet drivers were watching. We had to wait and watch also. It was not the pleasant experience I expected at all.

Anniversary Letdown

By Sanders93 |

The restaurant provided the perfect setting for a romantic night out, but did very little to extend the initial excitement into a night-long dining experience. We started with seafood gumbo, shrimp Diablo, and lump crab cake for appetizers. Ordered filet and lobster tail or surf and turf for our entree, followed by bread pudding and cheesecake for dessert. Appetizers were mildly flavored, but decent and edible. The broccolini we ordered as our healthy side with our entrees looked like it had a decent amount of toasted parmesan and seasoning crumble on top, but it had absolutely no flavor. It needed a little salt and butter. The medium filets we ordered were undercooked and overcooked. Citrus flavored cheesecake and bread pudding were tolerable. Aside from all that mediocre food, the night could have gone a little better with decent and attentive wait service. Completely overrated and, for us, a one-an-done experience.

Will Not Return

By Hanko |

The service was absolutely terrible. Our waiter was down right arrogant and rude. He made us feel as if he were doing us a favor for serving us. Most of the time, he simply ignored us. The food was good but not terrific. The king crab was so salty that we were unable to finish it. Considering the price of the food, this is unacceptable. We were there on a Wednesday night and the place was practically empty, so even the ambiance was lacking. My advice: avoid Oceanire, there are plenty of great places for seafood.

Classic Fine Dining

By Remaxava |

Located in the upscale Galleria the service is top notch in this beautiful restaurant. Starting with the hostess stand where they kindly offered to check our shopping bags to the waiters who are attentive and friendly this restaurant makes you feel welcome and special. The food is outstanding and portions are large! The only thing we did not care for were the mashed potatoes with truffles. The truffle oil was a little heavy. All in all a very great experience . Can't wait to go back.

Delicious

By Cherie M |

Weren't really dressed for restaurant so had dinner in the bar. Great atmosphere. Our waiter was superb offered suggestions and each was just perfect combinations of flavors. Had fillet mignon and shrimp yummy. Just the way I liked it. Also clam chowder was just delicious. Very highly recommended. A perfect way to dine. Everyone friendly and helpful asking us if everything was to our liking. Can access from the Galleria and car park.Easy walking distance from the Sheraton.

Blue fin tuna was perfect!

By FoodiefromPA |

Had a wonderful dinner here...service, atmosphere and quality of food was excellent. Great wine list and fresh food offerings. This was perfect for our business gathering.

Consistently good seafood

By DrWorldWide |

This is a very nice place to get your seafood fix. All seafood is fresh and cooked well. There is a large variety of items on the menu. I love the oysters and the seafood stew.

Reservation was for an hour ago. Seated 30 minutes late but still haven’t seen a waiter.

By Chelsea2019 |

The caption says it all. Steer clear of this place unless you’re a big fan of making a reservation, not being seated on time, then being completely ignored by your waiter. This place is an abomination.

Great selection of fish and seafood

By Gabriel H |

We started with the raw bar: abut 8-9 varieties of oysters on the half shell, mostly from New England and the Maritimes: excellent! The Dover Sole was delicate, exquisite and so nicely fileted. There was not even a small bone to be found. The fried Calamari were very good, although a different flavor from our last visit. The Ahi Tuna was perfectly prepared and delicate as can be.

Worth a visit!

By TED_5757 |

Food was fresh. Good sized servings. Share the side dishes cause there's enough there for at least 2 people. Dessert servings are huge so if you want to partake plan accordingly. Service was excellent. You can also eat in the bar area.

Good service and decent food

By Jonathan E |

The restaurant is appointed very well and has a grand feel to it. Reservations are a must. We were in a larger group and were at a table off in a corner. The place can get quite loud. Service was very good and the staff was very friendly. Overall pretty quick as well. Food was good.

Birthday dinner do-over

By lady_kjrn1 |

Since my birthday dinner at Brennan’s fell short of my expectations, I had a do-over at The Oceanaire. They are an all time favorite!! I love this place!!! The service, food, atmosphere is wonderful!!! Our server, Nicole, is amazing!! 😃👍🏽I had the fried lobster & hubby had the grilled snapper w/ a side of lobster mac & cheese.....all good & very filling. I could go on & on about this place. Keep up the great work & we will keep coming back.

Excellent services and food

By Joe_77546 |

Went on one of their couple specials. We received a bottle of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. All for a set price. Amazing deal. I had a fish entre and my wife had shrimp. Pictures attached. Amazing.

Tasty Seafood and Beautiful Decor

By Fawn82 |

We sat in the bar for a cocktail and appetizers and had our 1.5 year old in tow. We had a mix of the chef suggested oysters, shrimp cocktail, and split the clam chowder. Everything was excellent. I'd say the oysters were my favorite. The shrimp were giant so you don't get too many but they are so big you are really getting the same amount of actual meat. Soup was good and our daughter actually ate same where as, before, she has not liked the clam chowder at other restaurants. I assume because it can sometimes be very salty but it was more balanced, here. Great waiter and good time.

Consistency is the watchword

By Gary H |

The Oceanaire chain is consistent. Not excellent, but just below. The Houston location is a nice choice for lunch. She had the clam chowder (good, but not up to Boston standards) and a wedge salad (very good, and a generous portion) and I had the lunch special, grilled corvina. The corvina was outstanding, as was the grilled asparagus that accompanied it. In contrast, the truffled whipped potatoes were not a good pairing. Indeed, the truffle aroma made the fish smell at first as if it weren't fresh. Service was competent but not particularly personable, and we did not enjoy the sales pitch at the end of the meal to have us join the Landry-group program.

Seafood in Texas!!

By Julie M |

I visited Oceanaire Seafood Room this week while I was in Houston for business. EXCELLENT service from the wait staff, very attentive. The flavors of the dishes were so well thought out. Definitely on the expensive side, hence why it was a business meal, but I highly recommend it based on the service from the staff and the amazing food.
