I am in SF on business and wanted good local food and a casual atmosphere. This place was perfect. I had a Crab Roll appetizer (crab meat atop lettuce, sort of like a sushi roll. Had the Chili Seafood for the main course: shrimp, scallops, mussels, and vegetables in a slightly spicy brown sauce. A side of brown rice rounded out the meal. The service was good and you can tell this place has been here for a long time.

We found this cute little Thai restaurant by accident. But the food was amazing! Very authentic and spicy. It gets busy so be prepared to wait in line. Staff are friendly. Overall a very enjoyable meal.

The wait staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Probably the friendliest we have encountered in San Francisco. Definitely great service. They were very accommodating in trying to change the vegetarian options on the menu (which include oyster sauce and fish sauce) to vegan and we appreciate that. However, the food was bland- to be kind. Not spicy at all either! We had fried tofu as a starter, which was like eating an old wet sponge (except probably less flavorful), pan fried udon- which wasn't pan fried and tasted like canned spaghetti, (again not spicy, and very bland), and spicy eggplant. This dish was an absolute failure. Wet, soggy and oily tofu paired with an awful mound of what I was told was brown rice. I don't think there is anyone alive who actually likes their rice to be a solid block of gummy stuff. Apparently, even though advertised as having vegan options, we confused the chef and he forgot how to make good food at all. Vegan Thai is easy to find and always delicious but this was just shocking. A waste of time, money and effort. Authentic? Far from it. Vegan options? No. Unless bad food is an option for you.

The Old Siam Thai Restaurant, had good Thai food. The service was good, the place was very busy 20-30 minute wait 6:30pm on Saturday. The location was across street from Hilton Parc 55 hotel. If you are hungry for Thai food this is a good restaurant!

Stumbled across this thai restaurant . Lucky enough to try the lunch menu . Great taste and great potions !! Will definitely be returning đ

My husband and I came here on our first night in SF and we were not disappointed. Lovely staff and delicious food and wine made our first night memorable. I highly recommend it!

Went on a Saturday night around 6:30 and was half empty. In about 15 minutes the place had every table full. We were worried we wouldn't be able to eat in a timely fashion so we put in our drink, appetizer, and food orders all at the same time. Our drinks and appetizers came together, and we were granted plenty of time to enjoy before our main courses arrived. The timing was perfect! It was a little slow to get the check but that is better than being given the bum's rush out the door! Things were still going strong when we left around 8-ish. Inexpensive and delicious. Don't skip the spice tray if you like HOT stuff.

This restaurant Old Siam is excellent. I'm referring to the fact that the food is always fresh and tastes great, the service is fast (I did takeout), and they're friendly. It's become my favorite Thai restaurant in SF. Yes, ordering food at any SF restaurant these days can cost a bit of $$, but that's another story.

Located at the corner, between the Hilton and Parc 55. good place for small good, or lone traveler. very nice little restaurant with small café feel. The food, especially rice- very good. Lunch special includes rice and vegetable pad Thai

Lunch came quickly, good portion size. Ordered panang curry special and Siam chicken appetizer. Service attentive.

You can go to big cities and small towns and find good Thai Food. This place continues that tradition. Simple and quick the food is good quality and all the traditional favourites are available. Red, green or yellow curry, lots of stir fryâs and your traditional Rice and noodle dishes. Nice service, good prices!

We loved the food! I shared pad Thai and pumpkin curry with my husband. He Especially liked the pad Thai and I Especially liked the pumpkin curry, which had a little heat to it. The wine we had was fantastic! The service was excellent and the place was understated. Iâd say you didnât have to pay for fancy decor. We want to return to sample some other dishes.

Both the food and service were outstanding. We were warmly greeted and sat right away. We had Lemongrass Chicken and Cashew Chicken they were both flavorful. Many checked on us so we were never without anything needed. It was just a 5 minute walk from our hotel the Axiom.

This is a nice place for authentic Thai food. It can get quite crowded during lunch and dinner time. We had the pad see yew, seafood fried rice and Tom yam koong and we found it authentic. However the staff could have been more friendly đ

While the service was pleasant, the food was far from what I expected for a restaurant rated #90 out of 4300 restaurants in San Francisco. I went with 2 colleagues who were equally as disappointed, in which the presentation of all our food was sub-par, and it did not look fresh. One of the dishes came out cold, and to the credit of the restaurant they recooked the dish. I've been to much better Thai restaurants than this one.

My daughter, who has travelled extensively in Thailand, was keen to compare her culinary experience in Thailand with what she thought might be a bastardised American version of Thai cuisine. However, she was pleased to give our dishes the thumbs up. She noted some variations, but then she said you could just as easily have noted the same between restaurants in Thailand. Money well spent.

Attending a conference at the Hilton and spied the old Siam restaurant. The restaurant has huge windows so itâs great for people watching. The wait staff was fine but not overly attentive. The calamari was beautiful with large pieces of squid. The pad Thai was good, although I found the tofu kind of weird. It seemed seared so it was tough and kind of rubbery. I would recommend.

Excelent Thai Restaurant in San Francisco. The service is very good. The place is small but the food tastes excelent. I really apreciated it and recomend if you would like to have a good experience with Thai food.

I had dinner here with friends on our last night in Frisco. The restaurant is quite simple and not too fancy but the food was awesome. For me I ordered spicy chicken with veggies and steamed rice. It was really delicious. I also sampled my friend's dishes and they were great too. Thumbs up for this restaurant.

Order calamari was delicious. For lunch we order spicy sweet chicken, chicken with peanut sauce, was yummy. The best dish is the mango sticky rice, rice cooked with perfect texture, coconut sauce just right not too sweet, I wish I have more space in my tummy to eat one more order

Very good Thai food. I had dinner at this restaurant tonight. I was on my way to another restaurant when I saw this one. I looked at the menu on the menu and decided to try it. The food was very good though I canât say itâs the best Thai food ever had. Service was wast. The place looks pretty clean. My only complaint is that they had the menu posted on the window with dish prices including rice. When I get inside, the waiter says rice is not included. That was a little upset for me but I was hungry and ended staying there to have dinner. Another thing that surprised me was that the Pad Thai was served with glass noodles when normally itâs served with flat rice noodles. In conclusion, it is as very good but not including a side of rice with their dishes doesnât look right to me.

we had a fair dinning experience but good food. I know they can still upgrade the overall experience and food

We went in and got directly a table for 3. Tom Ka Gai soup and Red Curry with beef and chicken. Perfect authentic kitchen and a nice service. Singha beer for an aceptable price. A real good place to eat Thai !!!

We arrive 30 minutes before closing time and were told we couldn't sit and could only take out, which was fine with us. We ordered pad thai and it was very good. There was a lot of vegetables and the wait was about 10 minutes.

Havent been to this place in about 6 years. Glad to see that it is still great. Good food at not San Francisco prices. Fast and friendly service.

Great selection of yummy Thai food. We went here for dinner one day and lunch another. Not the best Thai I have eaten but still very good. Great location too.

I have eaten at many Thai restaurants in the US, Europe and Asia, especially in Thailand where I lived for over one year and visit yearly as a volunteer. The food is very authentic and it is located 1 block for Parc 55, my favorite hotel on 5th street. I highly recommend the Thai Fried Rice, to eat in or take out.

Great place! Authentic food with warm hospitality! Tight dining area but quaint, excellent for lunch!

This was one of the few restaurants in the neighborhood that was open for a late dinner. The place was quite full. and we had a ten minute wait. The food is nothing to write home about, nor anything to complain about. Service is ordinary. Ambiance is ordinary.

This place is very difficult to review... it was ... ok I suppose. Service was... ok, food was... ok and the atmosphere was ... yup, ok! There's nothing wrong with the place but it doesn't stand out in any way. More like a cafe than a restaurant too!

We were looking for Thai to go so stopped at Old Siam. All the basic Thai dishes at reasonable prices and friendly service.

I stumbled upon this Thai restaurant behind the Hilton. It's an older restaurant that isn't aesthetically pleasing but promises a diverse selection of dishes made well. While not the best Thai food I've had, it was a great find at a relatively low cost.

The best Pad Thai I've ever had! My wife loved the Pad Se Ew! Definitely worth a visit!! The owners, Patrick and Nadine, were excellent hosts!

Good food pretty dishes and quick service...... For the price you pay at other Thai places this guys are among the better offerings around. The have great lunch specials check them out and also get there early if there are shows around town they can be busy at diner time..... Over all a good quality for the money......

I spent quite a while in Thailand and am fairly familiar with their food. This was very original Thai. The staff was very friendly, very efficient and attentive. They do a lot of takeout, but dining in is like free entertainment. Very good portions, right amount of heat, just well done.

Great food. One of the best Thai restaurants in San Francisco. EVERYTHING here is so great I really love this restaurant Best Tom Kah soup EVER.

We like trying new restaurants during our twice yearly visits to San Francisco and was looking for a different Thai restaurant to try and ended up at The Old Siam. We walked in on a Tuesday at 5pm and the place was not busy at all. We were seated right away and the wait began for someone to even acknowledge that we were there. After a while we were given water and waited again for someone to take our order. Once someone came we just got the Pad Thai, one with chicken and one with chicken and shrimp. The food was just basic. Nothing special to make us want to come back for. It is very difficult to describe the taste of the Pad Thai because there really wasn't much to it. The service was bad and the food was just so-so. Everyone's taste is different but I am sure there are far better Thai restaurants in San Francisco than this one. I say skip this one!

We stayed at the Hilton across the street and decided to give this restaurant a try. We were a table of four and were seated almost immediately. After about 15 min the waitress finally came to our table for the first time and took our order. It looked like she had all the tables in the back of the restaurant. Someone else brought our food to the table. My curry chicken and my daughterâs dish were first to come out. My son and husband had to wait for another 5-8 minutes for their food. The waitress came back to our table to pour more water once, besides that she did not come to our table again, until my husband waved her down for our check. She brought our check and did not bother to clear the table. She left all the plates and glasses on the table. I could on, but why belabor the point. The point is I will never come back to this restaurant.

I decided to try this restaurant because it was in walking distance to the hotel (Hilton) where I am staying. It is nothing fancy, but the food is delicious. It was pretty crowded for a Monday night. That said, the wait for a table was less than 5 minutes. The menu has lots of selections with pictures. I had a hard time deciding on what to order. I ordered the fried noodles with green beans, tomatoes and ground chicken. Boy was it delicious. I also ordered an egg roll appetizer, which was also tasty. The service was a little sketchy, but not too bad to complain about. They also serve wine, but I had to ask about it as beer was the only thing on their menu.

The food was really good. Atmosphere was very simple. Wait staff was super nice, but a little too nice. Our infant really loved the waitress talking to him. She went to pick him up and said she would watch him somewhere else while we ate. No thanks!!!

I thought the food was generous portions and tasty ... the restaurant was busy , staff attentive . I've travelled to Thailand many many times ... this was good Thai good . My only thought was the interior could do with a refresh ...carpet very worn .. I will visit again for sure

Such a very bad experience having meal in this restaurant. I wont ever come again! its a very very bad experience having dinner in this restaurant. the staffs are so rude. we have been waiting too long for our food to come, and after we have done our meal. the soup was not even ready and when we were finished eating and ask for the bill we asked them to cancel the tom yum soup and sorry was not even the first word that come out. they just checked served us the soup which we didnt want to have it anymore. when we asked for the bill. we thought that the service is not up to our standard so we left few coins of our change in the table. after we came out the staff chased us asking us to pay the TIP which its up to us wheter we want to give it or not. we know that we have to pay at least service charge we left our money on the table but the staff asked us to pay more. why must we give you TIP if you didnt deliver such a good sevice? if you want people to pay the service charge then you should put a service charge and NOT CHASING YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR NOT PAYING THE TIP AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!!!!

We popped around the corner to Old Siam on recommendation of the hotel manager. Small but full restaurant, with plenty of attentive staff. We had a mixed platter starter which was very tasty, followed by some special noodles which were excellent. A nice local bottle of wine and we were all good. Would recommend as a great little place for a quick dinner, although we could have stayed if we didnt have to get back to the kids...!!!

We had vegetarian meals. The pad thai was amazing and the noodle soup as well. Worth a visit! Great service and freindly staff

This small Thai Restaurant offers good quality food cooked in Thai style. The waitresses are friendly. Their popular dish on my suggestion is Pineapple Fried Rice. Good value, good taste.

Very good food. Large menu with many options. We all liked it very much and the staff was very nice and efficient. We recommend the old Siam chicken fried rice and wonton soup

I just love this place so much. Since I start to come to SF regularly (2012) I always come to this place. They have a lunch menu where you pay 13 USD for entree and principal. The food itâs REALLY amazing and well served.

Staying at the Union Square Hilton and after a whole day of sightseeing, was pretty tired and want to eat at somewhere close by. Googled for Thai restaurant and this was right across the street. Wanted to go to some place fancier which would be farther to walk, so checked it out anyway. There was a line but wait was quick for a Saturday night. The food turned out to be great and beat much fancier restaurants. We ordered Pad Thai, chicken in mango curry, stir fried tofu, Chinese broccoli and fried chicken cutlets (like chicken fingers for the kid). The price was very cheap in such an expensive neighborhood where prices were usually jacked up for the tourists. All four dishes tasted great and the portions were large. The decor and atmosphere was like a pub/bistro, not bad for an Asian place. Service was quick and good for such a busy place. In all this is a great place with good food for a low price in a generally overpriced tourist area.

We ordered Siam wing (this is sweet taste), Thai pad se-ew(is very very good), spicy eggplant(good as well), but fried beef with garlic and pepper taste BAD. The price is gratuity included. The environment is pleasure, staff is also friendly. Good place to go.

The food was well made here with excellent mix of spices that goes beyond lower-quality Thai places. The pork belly special that I had was excellent. My only complaint is the service can be a little slower but this was a busy night and they might have been understaffed.

This quaint little Thai place is worth going to. Looks like a hole-in-the-wall but has good food and great service. Nothing fancy but worth your time. Service was very good, friendly, and quick!

I cannot believe how under rated this restaurant is. To my way of thinking it is almost as authentic as it gets. We wandered in over the busy New Years break and the place was pumping. We wrote our name on the wait list and watched with fascination how the restaurant ticked over. It was also churning out take away orders whilst having a full restaurant. The staff were lovely and on their game . In all we waited about 15 minutes which was great we had the chance to look at the food being taken to the tables. Once seated we quickly selected our menu choices, me the vegetable stir fry with ginger chilli and tofu the meat lover with me chose a nice red Thai beef curry. Our meals arrived in no time and were both very tasty. We were also given the option to ramp up the heat which I took up and was not disappointed. The decor is that flash but you are here for the food and the service both of which were excellent. I would definitely dine here again, as the vegetarian options were good and my meal was just what I needed in a city that doesn't place a lot of emphasis on fresh vegetables or salad. All up with a couple of beers we were out of here for just under $55 bucks. Not bad for San Fran :)

The Old Siam Restaurant serves reliably good Thai food, with some very good daily specials as well as all of the common Thai dishes like Pad Thai, etc. Had a very good grilled chicken with tamarind BBQ sauce and excellent fresh rolls with shrimp to start with. Prices are reasonable and it is a good place to dash in for a quick lunch or dinner when attending a conference at the SF Hilton or Marriott. Have been several times over the years and service is always friendly, efficient and helpful.

Had dinner here with my daughter the other night while we were visiting SF. The food was Excellent!!! Absolutely no complaint. I got the spicy seafood dish that was packed full of fresh fish, mussels, scallops, and squid. My daughter got the curry lamb and loved it. I would definitely go back on another visit.

This is one of those places that does not have a menu posted outside, so we simply gambled based on the people already inside. We were quickly seated and given menu's. This revealed a long list of standard fare, at reasonable prices. Almost immediately asked if we would like to order - which we were, since the menu was strikingly familiar, however we had not been given a wine list so we incorrectly assumed we would only be drinking tap water this night. Only after we had ordered food did we see people being served glasses of wine, so we had to chase a waiter to ask about those options. Very quickly we were served our appetisers, however even before we had got close to finishing those the "entrée"/main courses were being presented. Just a bit rushed, and something of a problem since the table size could not accommodate everything. Rather than retreating for a few minutes, the staff looked to clear our appetizers before they were complete, which was pretty disappointing. For main courses we opted for Panang Curry (beef) which was the right colour and taste, but just a little watery compared to the creamier sauce normally associated with the dish. The other main was a Pumpkin Curry (chicken) which was especially good, and had just a slightly bigger kick than the Panang. The thing we found odd was that you could order a side of peanut sauce, but not Roti to dip in it (they have roti with ice-cream, so presumably they COULD meet the request for something commonly offered around the globe). Overall we would give the food a tick of approval, but we were in and out in less than 60 minutes which was not what we had intended for a Friday night dinner in downtown San Francisco. It just felt rushed, and a bit unfriendly. If you are in a hurry, then this place is worth the visit.

Poor service, conveyor fed drinks, 20 mins between meals for people at the table and pricing which defies logic. Get take out and count yourself lucky đ We booked ahead for a party of 12, were led down to the table to be returned as it wasnât ready yet. Ok. It happens We were seated and no cutlery or napkins on the table so we must have been waiting for the fairies who were busy with Xmas. 10 mins later the waitress returns with 5 glasses of water, 15 mins later the other 7 arrive and are belt fed down the table as it is too tight for them to walk down. Table service is for beginners. At this time the napkins and cutlery is delivered. Yaah! So Orders are places and I puzzled over a tom yom gong/Gai for $14 and duck for the same price. Winner winner duck dinner it is đŠ. 12 people waiting, so the mains straggled in at the 30 min mark (not to bad really) unfortunately they were part. ...just the rice missing the meal. 45 mins later the rest of the table got theirs...vegetable side dishes went missing but amazingly turned up on the bill. Yaah!! Order takeaway, these guys simply donât know Thai food, give poor service and the waiting staff are understaffed and the restaurant crowded. After spending at least a year over the last 10 in Thailand eating Thai at street stalls and restaurants these guys get an epic failđ.

Food was good but did not appreciate the service. The servers were rude. Recommend for the food but do not expect a good experience

The restaurant is not far from Union Square. The inside is spacious. The menu has all the traditional Thai dishes and what we had was prepared very well (Masaman curry and crispy pork curry). The portions are more than generous, actually even too much for one moderate eater. The service is friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable considering the portions. A good choice for (real) Thai food.

Shaite service, pretty average. Relatively quick food, ELEPHANT portions for a cheap price. Not very busy

Found this gem just right outside our hotel. While the duck basil tasted great, the duck somewhat is fatty with a lot of fat under the skin. Pineapple fried rice tasted great! Rice was soft and full of flavour. They do takeouts and open until 11 pm.

Quick service. Tasty and satisfying food. We ate here on our first night in SF, arrived late and they were still open. Their pad thai was very good. Overall, would recommend if you're looking for a cozy, quick, enjoyable meal.

The restaurant is not very big but we got seated without a reservation. The Thai staff is friendly. We ordered a seafood salad and lamb Massman curry. The salad was good, the curry very tasty and the lamb meat soft and tender. It ended up to about $45 which I think is reasonable.

Nice little thai place that we stumbled upon. Food was tasty and authentic. Portion sizes are big. Be careful on the spice level - if you ask for it to be spicy, it most definitely will be! Prices are reasonable and you most certainly get good value for your money. Staff were friendly. Our order of rice was forgotten but wasn't a big deal for us and was taken off the bill without any fuss.

Lovely family Resturant with great Thai food. Speedy service friendly staff. Sweet and sour chicken very tasty.

A rip offâŠâŠ the Internet prices shown this evening have at least doubled and a glass of Chardonnay was 14 dollars. A bottle of decent Chardonnay in the local supermarket was 5 dollars 47c . Food tasted Ok but the service was quite basic âŠ. Staff not too pleasant

This is a must read, I did put this at the bottom but it needs to be here, the restaurant try to con you, check my pictures for proof. The bill/check comes with 18% gratuity INCLUDED, they then give you the receipt to sign and itâs asking for a tip with recommended tip amounts!!!!!! Absolute disgrace, clearly trying to trick you into another tip, be cautious or donât go. Over the road from our hotel this place always seemed busy so we decided to give it ago. Seated pretty quick by the polite and friendly receptionist, pretty much all downhill from there. Firstly food, it is good food, very tasty(and spicy) go medium or lower if you canât take hot food, the porky jerky great, belly pork also great, sticky rice perfect. All downhill from there. Service- other than the receptionist and girl who took the order was simply very poor, ordered drinks, had to ask for them after 15 minutes, food arriving before the drinks, totally no, no, get more staff or less tables if you canât cope, I ordered a second beer that never even came, Iâd given up hope by then.

I was late searching for takeout on a business trip. Old Siam staff was very nice and not at all bothered that I there near closing time. I tried one of the special curries. It was delicious and a good value for the price. I also had mango and sticky rice which was really good.

We needed a quick dinner and headed to Old Siam Thai Restaurant. Service was prompt and food was delicious! Huge bowl of soup - plenty to feed two adults. Shared a fried rice dish and another entree also. Comfort food on a cold wet night in San Francisco! Reasonable prices, good food and prompt service. All reasons to recommend The Old Siam Thai Restaurant!

We really enjoyed eating here, because the food is simple but good! Prices and portions are also very good. I can understand why some people are disappointed because it is a basic restaurant without much decoration, and a lot of people, but truly good food!

A very large selection in the menu and great tasting food. Service is efficient and kind. We came twice and loved it !

Brilliant food, good portion sizes, good prices, staff friendly and helpful.... highly recommend this place for all people. A large variety of traditional Thai food and some classic well known ones too

The food tastes exactly like in Thailand! Also the beer. Very friendly staff and ok prices. I recomend a visit.

What a little gem of a find. We walked past the place and thought it looked an authentic place to try. Wow so glad we walked through their door. We were originally the only ones on there, but it quickly filled up. Food was brought out quickly and service đŻ spot on. Friendly staff and food just simply delicious. We both had appetisers and mains, plus a cold bottle of beer each. Bill came to just under $100. For authentic Thai flavours and great service, this place is well worth a visit. We may go back before the end of our San Francisco stay. Highly recommend.

We had a meal here tonight. Our order was taken and food was provided. No âserviceâ to speak of. The meal came to $63 & we left $70, which I felt reasonable considering the distinct lack of service. The tip was handed back to us and we were informed by a waitress that âpeople usually left 15 or 20%â. I politely handed her back the $7 I had originally given. The only regret I have is not taking it back entirely and giving it to one of the homeless people outside. A tip is NOT a right. Even in the USA. We didnât even get a âhelloâ. Never again. And the food wasnât great either.

Doesn't look much from the outside but we were delighted with our meal, very tasty, great choices and staff were nice. Busy restaurant with locals and tourists. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Service was great, food was okay... the pad thai was too sweet, almost no meat and the lemon chicken was ok but too spice. The order was cooked very fast, beer was cold. At 10:15pm the staff start cleaning the kitchen (that was horrible), new customer coming in and they had to pass thru that mess...

The restaurant is excellent. They serve a Thai food that I very much enjoyed. The people at the restaurant are very nice

Small place with very few tables. Two seater next to a window is perfect. Service by young team is freindly and guide you with the menu. Plenty of veg options. Portions are huge. Food is authentic Thai and can be spicy if you ask for it. Great food Their house wine is also nice. Only grouse you cannot hang around for long as the place is small. Go there for a decent reasonable Thai meal.

Decided to go to this place on a whim as it was opposite our hotel. Seated quick, waited 10 minutes for a drinks order. Then a following 20 minutes for drinks to even arrive. In this time we were relocated for a bigger "more important" table. Once food was ordered, we received one starter, then mains, then another starter.. disappointed in this, we asked for our second starter to be delivered prior to our mains. Upon this request, they left our mains, what I assume, under a hot light in a kitchen. Whilst the food was average to okay, this service was terrible. Then after recieving the bill 10 minutes after asking for it, there was an 18% service charge already included. Based on the lack of service, we questioned the gratituity.. upon this, we ended up in a 15 minute argument with 3 members of staff arguing why they deserved the Tip with no real evidence. Overall, the food was okay but the service will mean I will never return or recommend. Embarrassment to USA service.

The food was so bad - it is not at all Thai food - we have been in Thailand! So disappointed!! Furthermore, the restaurant already charges 18 % on gratuity âtheyâ said it was because it is an area of tourism. They would not remove the 18 % - so sad - it is because the food is not worth the money. Sorry to say but a disgrace to Thailand..

We wanted to do Chinese or Thai food whilst staying in San Francisco and after reading reviews decided on The Old Siam Thai restaurant which was near our hotel and Union Square. Unimpressive from the outside but we were quickly seated and given menu which was extensive. We didn't order starters as we generally find American portions very large and this proved to be the case. We were a party of four and all ordered and waited for our meal to arrive. 3 main dishes arrived quickly however side of rice was missing and my daughters meal simply didn't arrive. We thought it would come in a few minutes so the rest of the party started whilst the food was hot. after quite a few minutes we stopped a waitress and asked about the rest of the food. The missing rice arrived a couple of minutes later at which point we were asked what was the 4th dish we had ordered. Not sure what had happened but it clearly had not been cooked. My daughter had been sharing our dishes and by the time her meal arrived we were all finished. The food in the restaurant was excellent and if all 4 meals had arrived timeously, this would have been 5 stars. But one of the main meals not arriving til others were finished let it down.

I recommend the appetizer platter rather than egg rolls. You get far more for just a little more in price. The Pad Thai was good, somewhat bland.

Our first night in San Francisco so we decided to take a little walk from Union Squire and we came across this lovely little restaurant one block away. It looks to be a family run business and offered a wide range of menu options and what we had was good. The Take Away business seemed to be very popular as well. The service was good and they could understand us Aussies which is a plus . Very quick meal prep and lovely and hot.

We were staying at the Parc 55 and it was pouring, so after sticking our heads in at their Thai place (crowded, loud, and expensive) we hopped across the street to Old Siam. It's a great little bustling cafe with terrific food. My husband had the traditional Thai soup with flat noodles with tea and I had the salmon in green curry (which came with eggplant, carrots, red and green pepper, and basil) with a sing ha. Both dishes were excellent and measured up well to our favorite Thai places at home. The waitress was friendly and fast. A terrific spot--I am only sorry that this was our last night in town, because I'd like to go back.

I love Thai food. At a new restaurant, I always order the spicy basil to see how good the restaurant is, which is what I ordered here. While I prefer sliced beef instead of ground beef in my dish, Old Siam delivered a very tasty dish and the ground beef did not bother me. Their sticky rice and mango was very good as well. I liked the dishes that I saw coming out of the kitchen and want to return to try others. This is not an elegant restaurant, but seems to be casual, with efficient service.

above average Thai food just across the Parc 55 hotel's rear Love the spicy dish curry fresh rolls service so so

Crispy pork was very fatty. Food was mediocre. Ambiance was blah. Scallop dish was very fair. I will not go there again.

$18 for Siam seafood dish. Lots of egg plant, two scallops three shrimp. But singa beer and Dennys atmosphere Pay a few bucks more and eat more upscale, or do a Chinese buffet. Lots of those

Met with friends who were hungry for lunch around noon on a Saturday. They suggested Old Siam Thai and it was a great choice. Great service from young enthusiastic wait staff. We enjoyed a cross section of reasonably priced Thai food including curry, fried rice, and pad Thai. All of the dishes were delicious and spiced exactly as we requested. If you are hungry for Thai food around Union Square this is the place to go.

This Thai restaurant has the informal feel of a cafe. The table condiments are not in fancy utensils, the decor is relatively basic and the vibe is one of people having a quick bite. But, as always, it's the food that matters. And the food here is pretty good. I ordered a chicken pad see ew and it was pretty tasty. Not the greatest I've eaten... the broccoli had a high stalk to floret ratio and the sauce could have been sharper, but still a good one. I think I might have been tempted to put this at an average rating if I had eaten this in London where there are countless restaurants and street food vendors specialising in Thai, but I haven't found much better in the US and at least this has a vegetable in it.

I had the Vegetarian Pad Thai and spicy eggplant. Neither dish was spicy and the waitress didn't give me thrnoption of how spicy I wanted my dishes to be. There is a spice rack that they provide but not the same. They also offer the option of brown rice instead of white, huge plus for me! Decent sizes for the price. I'd come back again.

I checked into the Union Square Hilton late At night and the host registering me suggested this restaurant when I stated that I didnât want hotel food.....what a treat! The first night a Thai Basil Shrimp (special) and I ordered crab fried rice and a Thai iced tea.....yum! Yum! Yum! There were a few shells in the crab fried rice but that reassured me that it was fresh crab. The shrimp dish was perfect and came with green beans.....the chili was perfect and not too hot......the only negative comment is that the butterflied shrimp had the shell on it but it wasnât obvious and my first bite after cutting the shrimp included the shell! They should advise and warn their customers when shrimp is in a such.....forget the technical stufff......I went back 2 days later and had the Thai BBQ chicken rice plate. A lot of meat! I could barely finish it but it was so very very good and the service was attentive! My new Thai favorite in SF!

I enjoyed my meal at this restaurant I thought the portions were extremely generous, and the food was tasty, and the service was very good. The price was also very good.

Best thai food i ate outside of Thailand! Really recommand for every one. Pad thai is amazing. The side dish of rice was not good. Prices are good for SF

Did a bit of a SFO brewery tour and ended up at hotel a bit late and found the old Siam open about 2200 hours. Client had the scallops with fried rice and I had the orange chicken with fried rice. Service was quick, efficient and food was out standing. Wish we had found it a bit earlier in the trip, we woudl have gone more. Two beers, two entrees with fired rice about $58 before tip. Go there if your close by.

Well. I stayed at the Hilton which is within proximity of this restaurant and they recommend the restaurant. I was highly disappointed, the portion are super small and way ...way ...over priced for less than average Thai food. I ordered the Lemon Chicken and thatâs all you get - lots of sauce and maybe a few veggies- no side, if you want rice is extra. I ordered a Thai roll and the cucumber tasted expired, in fact as I was finishing my meal I found a black hair. My bill for what looked to be a side portion of chicken and one roll was $25. I am not sure if this is the norm in San Fran but I am used to excellent, fresh Thai food in FL for half the price. I think this restaurant is for novice visitors, I was very, very disappointed.

I love eating at historic restaurants. The awesome neon signs outside are amazing and walking into this place takes you back decades in time. I ordered my favorite dish Chicken Pad Thai extra spicy and a vegetable rice plate. I really liked the food but my girls thought it was okay. The noodles they used are thinner than the typical thicker noodles in the pad thai.

We were advised by our hotel staff to visit this place as they believed it to be the best Thai restaurant in the area. Though the restaurant is basic the food served was of a high standard and great value. The staff were very helpful. The prtions are very generous. I decided to try the spicier dishes and was not disappointed. Give the restaurant a chance if you come acroos it as it's well worth a visit.

We enjoyed our visit to Old Siam restaurant. There were 4 of us for dinner. The food was tasty, the service good and the prices reasonable. I would recommend Old Siam if youâre looking for Thai food in downtown San Fran.

If the weather is warm, wear short sleeves, as it gets warm inside. But, it's worth it. The food is great. You might need to ask for some spice, tho. We had a few appies and some rice.

Been to Thailand many times and eaten authentic Thai in many countries all over the world and this is without doubt the poorest I have ever experienced The starters were usual fish cakes and spring rolls, the rolls appeared first and were lukewarm which was a shame as they might have been quite decent otherwise Fish cakes were a bit too hard and with a pretty tasteless sauce The usual dish I pick is beef or pork with Thai basil and chilli, in this case the beef was shredded and mostly fatty and spiked what could have been a nice dish, accompanied by egg fried rice that was weirdly garlic flavoured and too salty ( as was the beef) We had ordered another dish which we reminded the waitress about after 15 minutes since the single main arrived , 20 minutes later we asked for the bill as the 2nd dish was nowhere to be seen, at least they dropped it from the final total. The main and rice I guess we eat less than 25% and I have to say it was easy to leave as the waitress only seemed interested in your first order and then blanked you otherwise A easy missnin SD

I was 5 days in San Francisco and visited that restaurant twice :) The food was great and prices attractive. Soups are very tasty. Noodles as well. You can also drink asian beer :)

A few of the more popular places were booked up on a Saturday night so we took out chances. The Old Siam came through with an excellent menu, helpful staff and reasonable prices. Much superior to some of the 'Thai' places I have tried that tend to the Asian version of Junk Food. Clearly a different outlook here.

Very fast service (means all food is pre-cooked) and good tastes. but nothing special. Honest prices. Kind service. No more words.

We love Thai food so decided to give The Old Siam Thai a go. The part of their name âThaiâ really seems to be where the similarities end. Having spent a lot of time in Thailand over the past few years and having favorite dishes I ordered one of my favorites, disappointing it was. No where even near the Thai equivalent. Add to this the staff who seemed anything but happy in their work and this came across in their service or lack of. Having left only a small tip they proceeded to pursue us to the door wanting more, nowhere else has this ever happened. To save causing a scene I handed over a little more when I really should have said â If your food and service were really Thai Iâd have left moreâ If you are wanting a Thai experience, this isnât the place. Not a place weâll be revisiting!!

we came here for dinner one night, ordered Pad Thai, Tom Yam Gong soup and a snack platter. We loved everything except the Pad Thai, thought it was a very standard Thai dish, couldnt really go wrong, but the Pad Thai brought to us was just very plain, portion was big, so we ended up leaving more than half on the plate. Staff were helpful, and service was very quick as well.

Stopped in for a bowl of Tom Yum Gai. Awesome food and service. The soup had a wonderful broth with lots of mushrooms and Chicken. Try the Roti with ice cream! So good!

This place is what thai cuisine is known for: flavor, simplicity and freshness. Can use more spice for certain northern dishes but thatâs self adjustable.

I really liked this place. I had the scallop mango curry special and it was wonderful! They had large beers available to keep the spice at bay. It was very busy which was a good sign too. I was at the Hilton so it was a fantastic local meal.

.....served by chinese. Theyâre trying hard to be a thai restaurant, but the thai food is prepared differently from the chinese. They just could not match the thai flavors in the foods.

We arrived to the Park 55 hotel late after a long drive and wanted to find a restaurant within walking distance. The Old Siam was perfect. Not much ambiance but a huge menu and delicious food. I had duck soup, which was a meal in itself, and my partner had a mixed plate that looked wonderful. Service was fast and friendly.

We had 2 take-outs. The resturant was crowded at lunch. The two items were so good, we ordered them a second day. The first was Massaman Curry Lamb (can't find it in Philly) and Pad Thai.

We went to Old Siam twice while staying in the city. Several menu choices, everything we had was fresh and tasty. The only thing we didn't like was that they left the shells on the fried jumbo prawns. They said they are crispier that way but we prefer no shells!

I like restaurants when you see it full of locals. Its not plush but is friendly with quick service. Its easy for Union square and Market and a good place to fill up at the end of a busy day. It you like Thai, you will like this.

Ate here with fussy kids and they ate everything they ordered. Delicious meals for all other adults at the table. Great value and good service. Thank you

Very good food, fast and delicious. Nice staff. The food is very good and there are many different meals available from vegetarian or with beef, pork, chicken or seafood.

Went here for a couple of nightsâ dinner and enjoyed the food both times. I had the Thai red curry first night which was excellent â served with white rice. Great example of a red curry and nicely balance din flavours and heat. Second night I had the ground chicken stir fry with chili and basil which was also excellent. The Thai beer was properly cold and service was quick. It gets busy as its popular so you might want to book.

I ate here with 2 colleagues while staying at the Hilton Parc 45 nearby. As others have said good to very good food but below average service. My colleagues got the Spicy Thai dish (#55) and were pleased. I ordered Panang Curry with tofu. It was pretty good, but I was surprised to see that I was charged $2 for the steamed white rice that came with it. I have never been charged extra for white rice at any Asian restaurant ever in my life! Bottom line: if youâre craving Thai, this will give you your fix. If you are looking for the most scrumptious Thai in town, with great service and a relaxing ambience, this is NOT it.

We ate a late-lunch/early-dinner here - yummy and perfectly spiced. Very reasonable and right across the street from our hotel, off Market St!

We were in town for a family Thanksgiving weekend and decided to have Thai for lunch one day. Good choice! They were able to seat us (party of 6) fairly quickly and we all had various versions of their lunch special. The Beef salad was a bit spicier than we are used to, so if you like your spices a bit milder be sure to mention that. And while we ordered the Tom Yum Gai soup they misunderstood and brought us the Tom Kah Guy (Coconut mild) soup instead. It was ok, but be sure to make your order very clear. Portions were more than adequate, service was efficient and fairly quick, and food was good.

Popped in for dinner. Was originally planning for dinner at another thai place across the street. Friendly waiters. Food is average and reasonably priced. Asked for spicy dish but it was moderately spicy. Food quality is good. It was authentic but was expecting better quality

It is a good restaurant to have a meal. Food is tasty and the price is reasonable. Be aware that they include the tip in the receipt.

Pad thai and fried rice are very good. We took appetizers also just as crab rolls but be careful as portion are very generous. Service is very efficient. A good thai experience.

Service was good and fast. Curry and Pad Thai were great. Good food and a good price. If youâre in the area check it out.

Went here for lunch today to try it. The reviews online have been good so thought it would be a nice place to have lunch. Was seated straight away. No lines, so great start. Ordered a singha beer and then a short time later, ordered my food. I asked for a stay chicken entree with a massman curry for mains. I even made it a point to double check with the wait staff about the spice level. Being from Australia, I can't handle spice too well. The chicken came out and it was ordinary. It was only the peanut sauce that gave it flavour. Before I had even gotten half way though my entree, the mains arrived! I didn't say anything, and continued to finish my entree. I dished it out and took one bite of the curry. I immediately broke out into a sweat. I questioned the waitress and was told it is a medium dish. All red, green and massman are medium as the currys are pre-made and there is no way to reduce it. If I want a mild, I need a yellow curry. This is the first place I have been that I couldn't have a mild red/green curry. I told her I can't eat it and the dish was taken away. I don't like potatoes in my curry so didn't order anything else as I felt very disappointed with my experience. No tip left. No discount. At least I didn't have to pay for the massman.

I had the green curry with pork as part of the special that comes with chicken satay and both were delicious. The real star for me was the Tom Kha soup with chicken, it was spectacular! Great service and the staff is very friendly. I'll be back.

The menu is pretty expansive. The larb was good but completely average and frankly a bit bland. The seafood combo stew was OK, but again nothing special. Would I eat there again? Maybe. Didn't try any of the noodle dishes.

I ordered some food to go, Pad See-Ew and a Thai Ice Tea. It was ready very fast, 10mins max. The Pad See-Ew was a good size and had lots of chicken, I would of like more Chinese broccoli and a little less chicken personally and for it to be a little more saucy. But it tasted good and the size was good. And I loved to Thai ice tea! If you haven't had one try it!

A very extensive menu, difficult to choose what to have. Most dishes ranged from $10 to $14. We had three different options and they were all great. Good portions and a $4 beer.

Decided to try some Thai food while in San Francisco. This restaurant was a great choice. Quick service and a tasty meal were provided.

Chose Old Siam Thai due to the proximity to my hotel. Got there at 430 - still serving from the lunch menu. A great deal and added soup to the meal. Tom Kha, Pananag, Satay, Pad Thai, rice and beer for about $20. Wow. Flavor was wonderful. Spicy by most american standards - but they have a great chill sauce tray available to spice things up which I did. Recommended. Good food, low price, friendly service.

We stumbled upon this great Thai restaurant. From the outside it doesn't look great and it's small inside. Don't let that detour you. Service is fast and the food is great. I had the pad Thai and it was yummy. My husband had the Thai noodle soup and it was huge in size and very good!! Menu has lots of options to choose from.

I tend to grab take away most of the time as Iâm visiting alone and I like the place, but this time we sat in and it was equally as good. Service could be a bit more attentive and proactive but overall it was efficient and helpful when prompted. The food is always consistently very good!

Great food, service and atmosphere! We managed to get in around 9:30pm and the food was served within 20 minutes.

It is a Thai as a Thai should be but nothing extra. The duck (main) was very greasy but given pricing no compliant. The only thing was that you smell the sewage ... good that they had the frontdoor open!

Food was reasonably priced but was not as tasty as typical Thai food. Medium spicy food wasn't spicy at all. The duck was very fatty. Eggplant had more filler veggies than eggplant. However the mango scallops were good. Mango fantasy drink was overpriced & you could barely taste the mango.

Highly recommend this restaurant if you want a quick reasonable set lunch. Only $11.95. Staff was so friendly and keep topping up water and make sure I was happy my food.

If you like Thai food and you are in San Francisco, a visit to this restaurant should not be missed. Great tastes, everything super freshly prepared and a very friendly service. Oh yes, the price-quality ratio is also very good!

Great hot, quick tasty food. $50 for starter, main and 3 beers. Not bad given itâs central location. Decor basic but you go for the food, right?

We often try Thai restaurants on our travels and this was recommended on tripadvisor. We stopped for a late afternoon meal a few blocks from our hotel. The restaurant is more inviting on the inside than it appears on the outside. Wait staff is young and friendly. The food did not disappoint and we would return if in the area again--rating it right up there with our favorite Chicago Thai restaurant. Don't miss if you are near this part of San Francisco.

It isn't fancy. But, the food is excellent. Some of the best larb I've had since Lotus of Siam in Las Vegas. Curry could have been a little spicier but perhaps they toned it down for "American". Was still delicious. Service was quick and efficient. No complaints.

We went for lunch and ordered the lunch special. We thought it was a bit pricey at $17. But there was a lot of food. The chicken satay was high quality and tasty. The green curry sauce was so delicious and flavorful. The noodles were just ok.

This restaurant was near our hotel. Although busy we were served quickly and the food was excellent.

Having a had a poor Japanese meal in LA the previous night we were ready for something tasty and this did not disappoint! Great service, amazing dishes bursting with flavour! We are only here 3 nights but may well go back before we leave! Oh and the Chang beer is spot on!

Just near our hotel we had been for a drink at the Cityscape bar in the Hilton (Recommended) and walked straight out to this Thai and couldn't resist. Nothing much to look at however food was authentic and tasty with great service throughly enjoyed and would recommend nice and casual as well so don't panic about needing to dress up.

Great food, nice staff and fair price! I've had the Thai Pad Se-Ew with a Singha beer (traditional thai beer) and it was great! All for USD 16! Super fair...

I had waited to put out my review on this restaurant after my week long vacation in Phuket, Thailand to adequately compare its Thai authenticity. Itâs nearly there in terms of taste, spice & herbs that this restaurant uses. The serving is generous and service is quick. Food served is always hot and freshly made most times. Had the Tom Yam clear soup ( nice, herbal & good mix of seafood bits ), crab fried rice ( flavourful & good serving ), fried fish with assortment of spiced vegetables ( very tasty and fish was soft inside, perfectly cooked ). This restaurant is just across the road from Parc 55 Hilton hotel. Lots of takeaway customers as well.

We stopped here on a recommendation - and were not disappointed. The service was quick and the food was tasty. Prices were pretty good too. Pretty much your basic eatery... not overly fancy or anything - but worth the stop. Favored by the locals - a great place to stop and have a bite of Thai...

We have been coming here for years. The food is still still delicious and the price is still reasonable. However, the portion seems to be smaller than before. It has a vegetarian section with an excellent selection. Love the vegetarian noodle soup!

I ordered take-out from Old Siam on a Saturday night. The Pad Thai with chicken and tofu was fresh and flavorful. I'll probably be back later this week to try some other dishes!

Fantastic service and great choice on the menu. The staff were very attentive. A little quiet when we initially arrived just a little before 6pm but shortly after became very busy which showed it was a popular place with not just tourists but locals alike. We didnât have to wait long for the food to arrive. The lamb curry and combination fried rice come highly recommended.

My wife and I had dinner here recently. We were staying at the Hilton Union Square Hotel for 6 nights, which is just across the road. We ordered a Tom Yum prawns soup, a salmon dish, a prawns with vegetable dish and steamed rice. We have eaten meals in over 100 Thai restaurants in the past, in Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Europe.

This is the best Thai I've ever had. We ordered 3 mains: chicken peanut satay and veges, lamb massamun and beef and vege stir fry with oyster sauce.

Delicious and reasonable, we had chicken lemon grass soup and seafood curry. Good friendly service. You won't be disappointed.

Like a previous reviewer, we had a totally disappointing visit to say the least. We were really hungry and after patiently waiting to be seated, we patiently waited for our waitress to take our order, which after about 15 minutes she did. That was the last time we even saw her! We sat for another 25 minutes, watching other patrons be seated and receive their food! Watching people who had come in after us get their food before us was just ridiculous, so we left $10 on the table for the single glass of wine my husband ordered and we just walked out. It was pretty late and we ended up ordering Room Service Asian food in our hotel across the street and drinking our wine from Napa which was far nicer than sitting in a dingy restaurant with literally nonexistent service. We too, will never again visit this restaurant.

Walked all day and was going back to hotel Parc 55 and saw this Restaraunt. I recalled a trip advisor review saying the Thai near the Parc 55 was great so we gave it a go. Absolutely delighted. Quick delivery , hot fresh tasting and very authentic. Customer service was excellent.

Went here after dinner for dessert with family and cousins from out of State. Restaurant was fairly empty right before 8 when we were seated and told them we wanted desserts (on average $10) we were told thereâs a $15 minimum per person so we left. Went up the street to Pinterest Diner with no minimum to enjoy the rest of our night.

I introduced my mom to Thai food a few years ago. Now every time we travel together, we try to find a Thai restaurant. This establishment was a block away from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. We are glad we did. My mom always orders Pad Thai, so I made her order something different. We got the eggplant dish with pork and it was delicious. We ordered Larb and when asked how spicy we wanted it we decided on medium, but that was too hot. I like a little burn that makes my lips tingle (I'm kind of a weenie). It was still delicious, but I should have ordered mild. Finally, we asked about desserts. The waiter was very patient and kind when answering our questions. We ordered the roti with taro ice cream. I asked about it because the ice cream was purple and it intrigued me. That was the best decision of the night. That taro ice cream was AMAZING and to roti was flaky and delicious. It was a perfect way to end a great meal. We went about four in the afternoon. We were the only seated customers, but there was a steady stream of takeout orders being picked up. Service was friendly and fast. I would definitely recommend this to anyone seeking good Thai food.

We stumbled on it and was good dining experience. The food was amazing, perfectly spicy and tasty. The service was ok with hardly a crack of smile, but food was our priority which was good.

Thanks to those who did the reviews This is a great simple but yummy Thia restaurant. Staff were great, and the food we had was yummy Green curry, Penang chicken curry, satay ( goes without saying) and crab rolls which were my favourite

This is the best Thai food we have had in a long time. The place was just across the road from our hotel. The atmosphere inside was good. The service was friendly and welcoming. We ordered Lemongrass Chicken - Excellent and Red Curry Chicken - also excellent The portions were generous and excellent value. Overall we loved the place and the food. Highly recommended.

I got the seafood mixed grill with brown rice to take back to my hotel room across the street. The food wasn't too expensive and the portion size was large (I couldn't finish it). Scallops and shrimp were very good but the salmon was overcooked and dry.

We had spicy Thai noodles, massaman curry & lemongrass chicken for our food along with egg rolls as sides, all were decent sized portions & tasty! The place is clean & staff nice and friendly.

A delightful Thai escape! Perfectly balanced flavors. The green curry and pad Thai were outstanding. Friendly staff, vibrant decor. A must-visit.
Nothing special
Traditional Thai restaurant that did not stick out much. It was pretty ordinary and I probably would not return again.
