Nice river view!

By Tubamom |

There is a nice River view and there is outside dining too. Be sure and download the app so you can get rewards. We got a free garlic cheese bread for signing up. There is a large parking lot with 6-7 handicap spaces and an easy spot to drop off/pick up. Parking is free with validation. All of the entrees include bread, minestrone or salad, and ice cream. I usually have the minestrone, but tonight I had the salad with a really good balsamic vinaigrette. Tonight we had chicken parmigiana, lasagna, and the meat-lover’s spaghetti. We all shared samples with each other. Everything was good. Service was very good as well. It was busier than I thought it would be for a Monday- a reservation would be a good idea. I think this is the best family-friendly waterfront dining in Portland.

Date Night

By bunnyf2018 |

The staff was friendly and fun. Food was fantastic. The 3 coarse meals are very filling. Bar beverages where strong and delicous. If you ask you can sit by the windows to enjoy the beautiful view of the river.

Nice building and service with just average tasting food.

By LostinTransit10 |

Came here just after Christmas in a group of three. No reservations can be made. Upon arrival was told wait for a table would be 20 minutes. I asked if we could wait in bar and was told yes, and that if we found an open table in the bar we could be served dinner there. So that is what we did. Enjoyed the service and the nice atmosphere. All three of our pasta entrees where just average, at best. I had been to this Old Spaghetti Factore before, but it was about 30 years ago. This weeks visit will probably carry me from here on out.

Wedding party dinner

By mistyschulz |

The food was quite delicious. The pasta dishes are good here. The only problem I noticed was a lack of good dressing for a gluten free option for one person in our party with gluten allergies. Overall we had a good experience with a fine view of the Willamette River.

OMG Fabulous!

By TJSTraveler26 |

Do not stop, do not pass go...head straight for the garlic cheese bread and get the crab ravioli. Beautiful restaurant and great views. Reasonable prices.

Beautiful building, bad service, bad food

By CleoIsh |

We attended a organizational event in one of the rooms set aside for large groups. It was as if they had never had a large group, 100, before. The drink service was slow and chaotic. When we sat down for dinner things became even slower. The food, when served, was not appealing. There was no effort to make it attractive. For those who had pasta it was just a pile of pasta with tons of sauce. I did not eat the pasta but everyone at the table said it was acceptable. I had a chicken caesar salad which arrived way after everyone else's food. Since when is a caesar salad made with mixed greens? Dessert arrived as everyone was leaving. Enough said.

Most beautiful & beautifully situated OSF, ever!

By MikaLeigh77 |

This was our first visit to this particular location, and our party was impressed with the views and historic building that this OSF is housed in (purple roof and all!). I've always loved OSF for the nostalgic factor, and the service and food on this particular night (we were celebrating our wedding with family and friends) was the best we've every enjoyed! Service was friendly, attentive, and extremely efficient for our large group. Food was spot-on, even for our gluten-free/dairy-free guests, and everyone had a great time, enjoying our meals-with-a-view! Will definitely be back to this location! Large parking lot, with free and easy parking ( a huge plus, anywhere in Portland).

This in no way resembles Italian Food

By norene_1998 |

We have never been to this chain before but decided to try it for a week-night dinner. The building is fun and the view of the river is great. We were a group of 5 who order 5 different common mains (fettuccine alfredo, chicken piccata, lazagna, etc.) with side order of cheesy bread and broccoli for the table. All means come with bread for the table, soup or salad, and ice cream. All 5 found our pasta overcooked (mushy). The flavors were very sweet and NOT Italian. Some vague Mediterranean styles (capers, etc). The main cheese used is mizithra - which is a Greek cheese they mix with the mildest Romano I have ever tasted. (I love cheese, including this cheese - but this did not work here.) The bread was served with some whipped topping that tasted nothing like butter. One person's sauce was completely split before it arrived at the table and had a puddle of oil on top of the cream. The chicken we had was cooked fine - but had no seasoning/ flavor of its own. I know you are not going to have the best Italian food in Portland BUT this is not Italian food. This is an odd mixture of different styles with not enough seasoning to really have much taste. But when no one finishes their food, that is a clear enough message that this restaurant can be skipped. Unless you have some childhood connection that make you nostalgic - eat somewhere else.

Birthday Lunch

By saraheileen76 |

Brought my boyfriend here for my birthday - he'd never been to an OSF! What a great happy hour menu (we didn't realize we were eating like early birds!) and view of the river. He was very happy with his appetizers (ravioli was his favorite) and I loved my meal! Mizithra cheese is the best! The service was very good too. We arrived just before happy hour and they seated us regardless.

Disappointing service, food and prices

By Kevin296 |

A disappointing group lunch at Spaghetti Factory: limp salad, uninspired pasta dishes, rushed service. It wasn't our first visit there, but may be our last. Definitely not good value for money.

Delicious, Great Atmosphere, and Fun Outside too!

By swaaha |

Love this Old Spaghetti Factory! Love driving up to it, great energy outside, food was tasty, Enjoed the Giant American Flag outside and the wonderful walking path along the water after our meal as well.

Nice place to go with friends

By Giselle |

If you are looking for a casual place to go with friends and kids, which kid does not like pasta, you found the right place. It was my first time there with a group of 12 and everything worked out fine. The food is, well it is mostly pasta, nice. Pasta al dente but not too hard and very friendly service.

We like pasta

By Martin T |

Very close to our hotel beautiful short way along the river. The pasta American stile was fantastic. We had great waiters recommended great Oregon wine. At least we had a great time.

Always great!

By Robert D |

I've been eating at this place for a long time and it's pretty consistently good. My wife is gluten free and loves the GF pasta. The zesty sausage and meat sauce is always something to look forward to, and the loaf of bread that my dad and I shared was especially hot and fresh.

Old Spaghetti Factory ... ALWAYS a Good Choice!

By EagleScout1985 |

My family LOVES The Old Spaghetti Factory, and we try to dine at these locations while traveling. The Portland site was really nice ... situated right on the edge of a river. A nearby pathway offered some easy walking along the riverbank, and we could see families and individuals enjoying the area. There is a parking lot close by, which has a fee ... unless you eat at this site. If so, the parking fee is voided (free parking). The area seemed a lot more safe than downtown Portland, and the visitors walking around appeared to be more "professional." As expected, the food was delicious! The staff was very friendly, and our young waitor provided us with dessert free of charge ... not sure why, just a really nice guy. We "closed" the place, as they close at 2 p.m. and prepare for dinner later in the afternoon. Being the last family to leave shortly after 2 p.m. ... we still did not feel rushed or pressured to depart. Visually, the place was beautiful. The setting was very elegant and romantic, and there were several dining areas all under one roof. Would we go back? Yes!

Consistently good quality and service.

By Eugene F |

It's nice to know that as a customer I can count on good food and service. On short notice a group of clients needed to find a good place to eat and conduct business. OSF filled the bill. While they weren't terribly fast getting us to a table, once seated, everything ran smoothly. The all-you-can-eat soup and salad lunch is always a favorite...and is inexpensive. The atmosphere is nice, lighting is good, and the noise is minimal. It's not in a busy section of town, so driving to and from is easy. It's within walking distance of the the end of the NS Streetcar and the parking is free. We weren't by the window, but we were close enough to benefit from the view toward the Willamette River. I'll return.

Good food!

By Shawn L |

Staff is attentive and friendly. We were seated immediately and provided great service. The food was delicious and presented nicely. Price wasn't bad at all at around $30 for both of us including dessert.

Great

By DayTrip208781 |

Great place. Great service. Great food!!!! Friendly, quick yummy and accommodating of a large group. Good prices too!

Dine in the bar to escape the crowds

By tougo |

We arrived on a weeknight and were shocked to see all of the families and large groups waiting for tables. We headed upstairs to the bar and found seats there easily. Had a nice chat with the bartender and he took care of us. The food isn't the best, but it's good and reasonably priced. The coursing comes pretty quickly and you can tell that the salads and ice cream were pre-portioned earlier, but again that's not a big deal and not why you are here. You come here for a solid meal at a good price in a beautiful space.

Dinner after visiting OSHU Dental School

By John Warzynski |

The Old Spaghetti warehouse headquarters is on the Wilmette riverside and views are great. Wonderful food and great service, antiques furniture, a touch of Italy in the building style. The crab stuffed ravioli is great. Minestrone soup is great. And spicy vesuvius spaghetti sauce is delicious.

Take out order, less than adequate

By Marty Dollowitch |

I placed an order to go at the Sherwood Oregon location-it came to $80.00 which included tip. Food was ok, however it wasn't worth the price, as it was barely enough to fill you up. The containers were not full, the side salad was a tiny little container that seemed to me to be like 4 bites full, the main dishes were not even filled up with the menu items we ordered. I am very disappointed and will not come here agin

Family fun

By Brittany_11_10 |

Riverside restaurant (with indoor and outdoor seating when it's warm) that seems good for families. The food isn't necessarily the absolute best in the world, but we've enjoyed some dishes there, and our toddler is a big fan. Also, the portions are plentiful, and they seem to all come with bread, salad or soup, and ice cream, so the value seems pretty fair, especially taking the location into account. Service was fine as well. Friendly and reasonably fast.

American Italian in a fun setting

By RandyS |

I have eaten at other Spaghetti Factory locations, but none was as impressive as this one. The chandelier in the front entrance really surprised me. And tables made the from the ends of brass beds was also cute. This is not adventure dining, you know what you will get and you do get it. Fresh bread, basic Italian dishes, and a small dessert of ice cream. We god what we expected at a very reasonable price. We were seated on an enclosed patio at the back and I was very shocked to see we were right on the river with great views. Definitely try to get a table back there if you can. There were a couple birthday groups dining and these was a guy who came around to make a number of balloon animals and objects. It was a lot of fun for old and young alike. The balloons were effectively free but I think the guy works for tips...but still a nice touch for a family restaurant. Enjoyed our dining experience quite a bit and would go back.

Beautiful Venue on the Willamette River

By MCADAMA |

I've been a fan of OSF restaurants (we have some in Sacramento as well) and this was no different. Pretty good service, friendly staff, but the part I liked the most was its location. This was my first trip to Portland on business and it was a gorgeous sunny day with the river teaming with sailboats. I really enjoyed my visit. One nice touch is that it was an unusually hot day that day in Portland (90's) and I got to the restaurant before they opened. One of the staff noticed me sitting outside on a bench and invited me in to sit inside in the cool air to await my dinner guests. Classy...I appreciated that.

Good service

By holidaysforus |

The service was quick, friendly and efficient. The soup was hot and tasty but the same cannot be said of the lasagne. Ice cream was good. Portions were a good size. Pleasant setting along the banks of the river.

Old Spaghetti Factory on the Willamette

By michael472015 |

Since they closed the Old Spaghetti Factory in Kansas City, we always take advantage of going to one in any city we visit that actually still has one. Portland is one of those cities and I told my cousins that the least I could do was treat them all since they traveled from Salem to pick us up at the airport. The restaurant didn't disappoint, as always. 4 out of the 7 at our table ordered the spaghetti with brown butter and mizithra cheese -- delicious!! And, their salads were just as good as I remembered. We also had a side of steamed broccoli, also delicious. We had a great view of the Willamette River, also.

Will definitely be back!

By iloveromance |

I had an email coupon for a free meal so I called ahead and went to pick it up. They were close to closing time or I would have eaten in the restaurant. It's a beautiful place and the staff was very nice. I'm definitely going to dine in when I return to Portland!

Nice location, below average food

By Carey S |

This is not the place to go for a quiet evening for good Italian food. This place is loud, with lots of younger people in large parties. The food is Italian, but it’s clearly Americanized - not authentic Italian. Our waiter was too much in our faces and loud. It was as if he was trying to turn the table, while we were trying to enjoy a relaxing evening. The only positive to this place is that the building is nice and is located on the river. There are plenty of other good Italian restaurants in the Portland area - don’t waste your time here.

a drank and a view.

By mardi c |

we had a large party and we went to the bar when it opened. pushed tables together, and then we ordered. had a blast. drinks, salads, appetizers, lasagne, lobster ravioli, spaghetti, several spaghetti's, and then some. so much fun. the bartender was fabulous and took good care of us. great views.

Great Lunch

By cohoman |

After visiting the Oregon Zoo, my family and I were looking for a lunch spot with easy parking before heading to the OMSI. We chose this restaurant because it has its own validated, free parking lot. The restaurant features ample indoor and outdoor seating with a nice river view. My wife ordered the Garlic Mizithra Spaghetti, and I had the traditional meat sauce with spaghetti. Both dishes were excellent and very satisfying. I highly recommend this place for a good lunch or dinner.

Still Old Spaghetti Factory

By dah |

Great views overlooking the river to watch boaters, sailors and fishermen. Other than that, it's dark inside and out of the way. The food is exactly what you'll find at any Spaghetti Factory, bland and forgettable. As a chain you could almost call it fast food, but it's not that good and certainly has nothing to do with Italian food. Even with the view, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Always consistent

By canmarto |

This is a good place for family gatherings, especially with kids. The prices are reasonable and the menu is varied and suitable for most food preferences.

Great food and wonderful view. Staff took great care with us. Reasonably priced considering location. White tablecloths

By Karla S |

Staff took great care of us. Food reasonably priced considering location, white table cloths, and well dressed staff. Highly recommend it

A Feast for The Eyes and Tongue

By fbocksch |

This is a lovely place to eat with many antiques to look at. We had a table with water view. The food is excellent, but it is about the atmosphere of this location. If we visited this area again, we would love to eat here again.

Where to go with a party of 10

By DewPortland |

It's Saturday lunchtime and a group of 10 people decide to go to lunch together. But where? What restaurant can take such a big group on short notice that can also accommodate children? Yes, The Old Spaghetti Factory can! And did. The waiter said that providing three separate checks would be no problem. An old favorite of tenderloin steak with mazithra spaghetti has been returned to the menu. Delicious! It is a beautiful restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. Service is laid back and a bit too casual for such great setting. The restaurant was almost full so the casual service is not a deterrent to the people who have been coming to The Old Soaghetti factory for three generations.

Good food as always

By SquashAddict |

Nice loaction/view (when it's light outside!). Large restaurant, nice seating, and great OSF food as always.

Fun Family Place

By Sellwood86 |

Lots of choices. Great place for a big family -- inexpensive and lots of seating. View of the Willamette River. Love the Manager's Special (half meat/marinara and half browned butter w/Mazithara (sp?)

A Portland Tradition

By Fred_Merchant |

This is the Old Spaghetti Factory’s flagship restaurant. It's right on the Willamette River and has great views of Ross Island across the water. The interior is decorated in eclectic antique; the owners scoured Oregon for furniture and fixtures. The spaghetti factory is exactly that, a place for affordable Italian American food. Don't expect the Olive Garden and don't expect a high end Italian place. We had a party of 6 and made reservations ahead. We were seated promptly. The menu is basic but good and has something for everyone. All meals include soup or salad, entry, ice cream, and basic drinks (coffee, tea, etc.). Portions are not huge but you leave satisfied. The menu includes a unique item, spaghetti with Mizithra (Miz-i-thra) cheese and brown butter. It can be part of the Manager's Special (choice or 2 sauces) or Pot Pourri (4 sauces). It is a slightly salty hard cheese with firm texture and excellent with the browned butter.

Great Place for a family Dinner

By Florian H |

We have three young one (7, 5 and 6 months) and finding place to have a relaxing dinner is pretty much impossible. But this Old Spaghetti Factory managed to do it. We had a very good table which was a big booth facing the side of the train located in the main room. We had plenty of room and the noise is well contained for the kids to do their crazy things. The service was good and very used to deal with young one which is helpful. The food is good too. Not the best out there, but again, we are here because it is family friendly. What I like the most about the food is that it comes with soup and dessert. Having three courses in any meal makes you feel happier about the whole dining experience. The kid meals also has three courses which I believe is important as well. I like to get any of the specialty from the restaurant. I enjoy strong cheese flavor so you can go for their Mizithra cheese. Their wine list is very standard. No jewel there but also no bad surprises. We will return due to the atmosphere and the ease for a family with young one.

Wednesday dinner

By sosam954 |

Beautiful restaurant well recommended by the locals, but the quality of the food was disappointing. Pasta was cold, shrimps were rare an cold an with no seasoning at all. I wished they had a better tasty Italian food as they claimed. Sorry but I cannot recommended.

Lack of attention to detail.

By Finklebell |

We were part of a wedding rehearsal dinner. The reservations for a private room where lost. Those in the the party had dietary restrictions which were not honored until part way through the meal. I would not suggest this place for a large group.

You get what you pay for

By TucsonTeeter |

I think there are three things that people like about this place. The 3-course meal (salad, entree, ice cream), the old-time atmosphere, and the view of the Willamette River. I prefer higher quality authentic Italian.

Summer mom and son trip

By Snake River Adventures |

We had a great dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. The building we were in was so beautiful, it was all historical and from the local area. And we had great service.

Great building, reliable food - on the permanent list

By Qpgmr |

Portland is a great restaurant town, but sometimes you just need a low-stress, unpretentious meal with a great river view, plenty of hot bread, and surprisingly good tomato sauce. This is not to say that the service was sub-par: all the staff were attentive, fast, solicitous. OSF knows how to provide a dinner!

Good Food and even better view

By Paul E |

Whenever we travel, we are always on the lookout for any Old Spaghetti location. Portland didn't let us down and we had a great meal at this restaurant. We arrived a little before sunset and that was GREAT timing to enjoy the view from the restaurant as well. This restaurant is located right beside an bend in the river that provides a great scene to enjoy. Our food ... was good as well. The garlic bread with cheese was excellent and the marinara sauce light and tasty. My wife had her favorite dish and I had the Sicilian Meatballs. The meatballs were just a little dry but the flavor was excellent with the seasonings just the way I like. Next time we are in Portland, we will be going back.

Yuk

By Joshua M |

One of the worst!!!! I bet I could scrape the bottoms of my shoes after walking through a movie theater and get better food. I will not ever return to this or any other OSF ever again.

Love this Restaurant

By Charity Rue |

Besides being at the end of a great nature walk along the bay, this restaurant was an old favorite of mine. We use to have one in my home town but it closed and I have missed it so much. It was exciting to see the original here in Portland. The eclectic design with it's antiques, beds for booths and train cars to eat in... it is always a delight to look around and the food for the price can't be beat. Or servers were helpful and prompt. A throughly enjoyable time was had by all.

Great Pasta

By mickeym1234 |

Been to OSF in other states but it has been awhile. Didn't realize they started in Oregon. No matter what location, the dining experience is always spot on. Food was delicious and staff was attentive. Loved it!

Enjoyable Family Dinner!

By BHOregon |

We enjoyed our 3-course meal at The Old Spaghetti Factory.... soup or salad & bread, entree, and ice cream. We enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant along the beautiful Willamette River. The food is "fine" (pretty basic Italian food), but the prices are reasonable & our service was great! We had a good experience! 😃

Great Food, Beautiful View

By larryrK8119SO |

I was there on 10/28/16 for my birthday. The chicken Sausage and the meatballs that I had were great. The others in my party raved about how good there meals were. The young man that we had for a waiter was well versed on the menu and very friendly. When it was dessert time the staff came over and sang Happy Birthday. It was a very nice 50th birthday dinner. We had a window table over looking the water and it was a beautiful setting. Thanks Old Spaghetti Factory!!!

Amazing

By Rian A |

The food was so amazing and the view of the river was beautiful!!! I would definitely go here again.

Good Italian food on the water

By Monica O |

Overall good restaurant, beautiful view of the river. Made reservation, which was helpful, but when asked if it was possible to sit out on patio was told those were all mostly reserved, but would check, hostess never came back, waiter then tried to find out, came back with no answer, finally we said forget it, never mind, and just moved onto ordering drinks and food since it was obvious we werent going to get to sit outside. Bread was delicious, salad ok, minestrone soup good, had both the crab ravioli and spinach and cheese ravioli for entrees, both excellent! and the ice cream at the end was the cherry on top. Would definitely recommend!

Lunch at The Spaghetti Factory.

By Trudi T |

We had a very good time and food. We sat at the window by the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. As always the browned butter and Mazithra Cheese combination was awesome.

Awesome

By Paula L |

Nice location easy to find for this out of towner, lovely setting to have a fabulous dinner in. Wish I had taken pictures. This was not only pleasant and a quite comfortable place to dine for dinner and the service was good, but my meal was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. thank you all

Amateurs cooking?

By NewYorkeralive |

Prices are WAY HIGHER than not long ago.....but food did not go up in value. They need chefs trained in Italy, not amateurs in the kitchen. OVERPRICED. Poor value.

Yummy.......Mizithra cheese!

By jlnandez |

This restaurant is a 'must have' for me whenever I am in CONUS. I absolutely love the mizithra cheese. I appreciate the reasonably priced menu and family friendly atmosphere.

Predictably Good Food

By byepuss |

You get a large amount of good quality food. The salads are plain iceberg lettuce, but the entrees are tasty. Spumoni ice cream is a nice addition for dessert. If you want to know exactly what you are getting, this is a great place. Next time we will eat upstairs (21+) to have a quieter dining experience.

Love this restaurant

By Elizabeth D |

This is one of my favorite places to go when I go home. When I lived in Portland we use to eat here all the time. My favorite pasta of all time. You get a full meal for a very reasonable price. Great atmosphere and locations. The only down side is that they are so good you will probably have to wait awhile to get in. They have a nice bar area with seating. Bread is amazing too!

Fun place for the family

By kzb412 |

The food is decent, at best. The staff are always friendly, though and the quirky decor makes it a fun place for dinner with the family.

Retirement party

By John Warzynski |

After 40 years as RN in mental health, we had a great celebration at the old spaghetti factory with 18 people The food was great and services good But a little slow Love the atmosphere and furniture

Great Ambience Not So Much The Food

By NVBetsy |

Love Italian food in all its various forms. The Spaghetti Factory has great bones. Gorgeous property, gorgeous views and friendly staff. You will also get more than a fair measure to eat. Problem is that the quality of the food and wine are only ok. I went basic - spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce. The meatball was big and the portion of spaghetti filled the large plate. The bread was actually disappointing. The Spaghetti Factory is on the circuit when in Portland and worth the return trip simply for the ambience.

A business lunch overlooking the Willamette River

By Eugene F |

Although lunch isn't served until 11:30, my guest and I were allowed to sit at a table overlooking the river and discuss business until service was available. We very much appreciated that kindness. We both chose the all-you-can-eat soup and sandwich, which on Thursdays includes the option of Mulligatawny soup...a hearty thick chicken soup. The price was right, the service was good, and the view was great.

From crystal chandeliers, leaded glass doors to the delicious meals served . Be seated by a river view or inside the old trolly car, great service all around.

Two stars for neatness, known for food

By moo goo g |

There was one thing that we liked enough: an orange vanilla shake. It wasn’t anything special but it was Edible. The chicken Marcella was so dry and tough dad. My jaw got sore trying to eat it. There was a minutiae of a thick brown goop with a dozen or so slivers of over cooked mushroom. There was not one with Marcella wine. It was terrible. Two orders of chicken Parm we’re basically the same petrified chicken breasts with a decent amount of cheese, but nowhere near enough sauce, to make it easy to chew that tough old bird. It is a bullion cube with a good amount of black pepper and an itty-bitty amount of carrots, celery and onion chopped into little pieces. The bowl might’ve been 12 ounces, not even 5% or vegetables. And of course they were no beans or pasta or anything else. No tomatoes to suggest how it got red. I’m guessing food coloring. The meatballs are dry, tough, and flavorless

Was it was just ok

By skiingfrog |

Took my 81 year old mother to lunch today as we had been at the OSHU campus near by.....Neither of us had eaten there in 20 years...I was not impressed.....Food was ok, prices high for what it was....The salad was just that salad with nothing extra but lettuce. I use to love that place...Service was horrible as they needed more wait staff for the lunch rush

Worth it for the view!

By Laurene Van Engelen |

Certainly not 4 star food, but the riverside view from both restaurant and lounge are spectacular and hard to beat. Service was good...just so so pasta dishes and the BLT salad was unremarkable.

Good Family Option

By Macgruber M |

Good food, fun experience and a good location. Very large, always busy but not "too busy". The spumoni is a blend of chocolate, strawberry and pistachio ice cream and can be purchased by the gallon to take home.

Terrible!!

By marylou_noble |

I was shocked to learn that one must take time to insert a credit card in order to enter the parking lot. Once inside, I told the person at the front desk that I was joining a party reserved by Ron Noble (my son). I was told again and again that there was no reservation under his name - VERY WRONG!!! She then led me through the restaurant, but NOT to the table where they were seated. I then sat down in the lobby to call my son to tell him that I must have come to the wrong restaurant. Fortunately, he appeared at that moment to check to see if others had arrived, so I was able to join the celebration. The service was then incredibly slow. I am totally displeased with your service!!!

Fresh look, on old favorite.

By Denise S |

Fresh look, on old favorite. Did not expect the beauty inside and out of this lovely old restaurant on the river. Great dining experience with friendly wait staff.

Excellent lunch

By Wes G |

First time at a Spagetti Factory in many years and extremely pleasantly surprised with the quality of service and food. We will go there again. Pasta and meatballs lunch portion was a great bargain and more than enough for a meal. My wife had pasta and marinara sauce and was also extremely pleased.

What a view!!

By ttocsnodrog_2000 |

We made reservations and finally ate in the room with the best views of the Willamette river! Good food and service only made the experience all that much better.

You can do better

By totallye |

if you are not familiar with The Old Spaghetti Factory then sure, visit this one. It is the Original one < not the original location, but the 1st in the chain. The location and. Knew are wonderful. The service was very poor. We visited to celebrate a birthday. It was no a good choice at all. From the abrupt hostess, to the delayed seating, poor table service... Just bad. I even asked our server after a long wait for simply water, if there was a problem. She acknowledged they were busier than expected, but it kept going downhill from there. Our appetizer was forgotten, it arrived with our meals so we asked to have it sent back. Complimentary bread was not served until we asked after 15 minutes. More distressing, all the tables around us were messy, empty and not bussed. It was gross. At one point the mAnager came by, probably because we sent the app back and asked about the service delay. She offered free dessert for the inconvenience, yet... Those tables remained empty and strewn with dishes and breadcrumbs. We decided not to have dessert as it wasn't going to improve the experience. One entree was comped. It was a nice gesture but we wanted to have a nice evening out... That did not happen there. Even the food was not on point, salads had a lot of brown lettuce and it al felt like airplane food. It seems obvious there was a staffing shortage, but that should not be the diners concern. This once was a fun place to visit. It felt more like the food court at the mall. Not one good thing to say.about the experience except, they acknowledged it wasn't their best night. Unfortunately, it wasn't our best choice and we won't be returning.

Food was sub par, service was HORRIBLE!

We have gone to this restaurant in other states,we were so excited to find one in Oregon,we took our family there for my daughters 22nd birthday. We were seated at our table at 5:56 pm ordered 1drink and an appetizer while waiting for another family member drink and app came within 10 min, fine then the server did not return to get our order until 6:30'the rest of our party ordered drinks still didn't have them by 6:50 asked to see manager, then someone ran the drinks to us, they were watered down and melted been sitting on the bar for 20 min, we felt like we were invisible, no one is a team player , no one filled water glasses, no one pre bussed it was really amazing,we will never be back!

pasta for tourists

By Mr J |

I had spagehtti in white clam sauce, which is the safest, I thought, thing you can have in this sort of restaurant. The white sauce was devoid of clams, garlic or any Italian flavor, but the bland pasta was sort of OK, and I was not sick later. I was generous with the rating, as this caters to families with children stuffing themselves with bread. The friend who took me like one of their dishes with Greek cheese. No one who knows what Italian food should taste like should go near this place.

A pleasant place

By Hannah Elizabet... B |

The Old Spaghetti Factory was a very nice restaurant with attentive staff, good food, and a quiet atmosphere. It was a good place to meet a large group of friends. Overall, a nice place.

I actually like it

By OregonMomTraveler |

For a chain, and Americanized Italian food, I have to admit I actually like this place. You get a complete meal, salad-entree-dessert for the menu price. Sometimes one gets tired of how cool and boutique the restaurants are in Portland, and you just want comfort food. Salad with creamy pesto dressing is good, and the lasagna is also better than it has to be. We always have a good time here.

Food could be better

Nice location and good looking building. But food could be better. Pasta need to be al dente. It's too soft, boiled too long. Maybe good place to place kids.

Beautiful Venue...Mediocre Service

By RoasterRick |

We arrived and needed about 20 minutes until the last member of our party arrived. The host was exceptional and made us feel comfortable while we waited. Once our party had arrived we were escorted to the back sun room and given a seat with an exceptional view of the river. We were so thankful and knew that we were in for a nice evening. Then...the wheels fell off of the truck. We waited over 20 minutes before anyone even looked at us. We had to ask someone to get us a waiter/waitress. Even after asking it took another 10 minutes for someone to come over. She apologized, gave us menus and walked away. No drink orders, water, anything. A few minutes later our waitress returned and took our drink orders and left again. 5 minutes later she returned (without drinks) to take our order. Again, she left and then returned with our salads (still no drinks...no water). Just as she was serving our salads, another server came with the drinks. OK, now we are set...finally the waitress came with the bread. After eating our salads the waitress brought the meals. 1 of the 4 meals was not accurate. OK, she took it back and did bring out the correct item. The food was good...not great...but good. The lasagna was super salty but the chicken marsala was pretty good. We were not that impressed with the service, at all. I would say it rated 1-2 starts. The food was a 3. The venue (interior and view) were an absolute 5.

Our visit

By AnnieDancer |

We came for an appointment nearby from out of town and had lunch here. Lovely facility, beautiful woodwork, terrific view of the river. Lunch pasta selections were affordable and average, clam chowder very good. Bread loaf was brought hot on a cutting board with a knife and butter. Serrated knife very dull and ended up with squished bread and crumbs all over the table and floor. Noticed manager running around with a sweeper to pick up crumbs everywhere. Makes more sense to cut the bread with sharp knives in the kitchen before delivering to table. Husband worked for restaurants for years. He was bothered by how long it took to get water, have server show up, view of dirty table during most of our lunch, not clearing used dishes from our table, and groups of employees chatting in the lobby. Rest rooms clean but not stocked--no paper towels in men's room and in the ladies room TP dispensers were empty with one partial roll of TP on top of the dispenser. Odd to be poorly stocked while open for business.

Old timey charm on the river

By Seaneen |

Free parking, awesome views, good old fashioned American Italian food at a great deal... with the sweetest old fashioned charm. Sure, this place is not the most hip or trendiest in Portland, but it is consistent and kitschy and frigging awesome. I grew up on Old Spaghetti, "Managers Favorite", mizithra and mushroom sauce. And to this day I can't divert from it. My boyfriend keeps trying other dishes and they are all delish. The small order of broccoli is awesome to split, it adds a little green to the carb load that is noodles and bread. I

Tasty food, good atmosphere

By subeenorfy |

Family friendly restaurant with tasty food. Wonderful location on the Willamette River. No outside dining. If new to the restaurant, when checking in, ask for seat by the window looking out at the river. If you want a quieter dining experience, sit in the bar upstairs. The seats by the windows go first typically but they are a nice place to sit.

Another wonderful spaghetti factory experience!

By rnprofessr |

We try to eat at as many spaghetti factories as possible. While in Portland our friends took us to this one down by the river and we had the pleasure of sitting along side the windows to watch the river and all activity happening there. As usual our food was wonderful , the salads were so fresh and crisp and refreshing our entrees all prepared so perfect and the bread always delicious. Our server was amazing and we never lacked for anything . So glad to add this one to our list of enjoyable Spaghetti factories we have visited.

Beautiful Atmosphere Reasonable Prices

By sparklers8666 |

Don't go during the rush times, try to arrive at the end of lunch or early or late for dinner and you will have a better experience. River view or caboose seating is so nice... we had a 101 year old with us so river view it was (you have to go up steps to get into the caboose.) The gorgeous antique furniture, stained glass, gorgeous hardwoods and carpets make for a truly unique setting. The Italian red sauce is just meh, but the brown butter mizithra stuff is great if you like a nutty tangy flavor. We had the special which included our favorite mizithra and butter pasta and a lovely caper and lemon chicken breast. The iced tea was awfully strong, but easy to fix with a half glass of iced water. The service was excellent! I love how there's something for everybody at this restaurant and that it is family friendly. It's nice that they try to keep the prices reasonable as well.

Provides satisfying, non-gourmet Italian dinners and salads

By Linkup |

The service was great starting with the "concierge" who seated us to the server ("Kathy"). She made the dinner fun and personal. When I read negative reviews on this restaurant it seems to be that some customers havw been disappointed that the food was not gourmet or "special." I would say that if you are looking for super-gourmet Italian food, this probably is not the first choice. But if you want a good helping of comfort food, with lots of options, and a view and friendly service--at a good price--this is a top choice.

All wrong right from the start!

By 4snickers |

Upon entering and giving our name for a large party we were told it would be 20 minutes or so..after 25 minutes, and not being seated a hostess looks over and says" Are you waiting for a table?" We give them our name again, someone goes off "In search of a table?" hostess calls a name, Which is not ours, by the way..we say party of 7, oh you're the only party of 7 we have!" How can it be they have such untrained personnel at the front desk? After being seated with small children, there was no water on table, and none served for several minutes..But it only went downhill from that point. Make a big point of their Italian soda get a free glass..We order and appetizer, wine and children's dinner first. It all came out sporadically. We order our dinners, they forget the broccoli, forgot the meatballs...well you get the idea..manager was snarky, ordered coffee with cream and sugar..waiter more interested in if we wanted separate checks, which we didn't! Guess what we never did get our "Free glasses" big surprise. If you go, pack your patience, and forget good service...What ever happened to the good management The old spag factory was known for? So very disappointing!

Good Food Here

By Ghpenn |

I visited the Old Spaghetti Factory in Portland. The place has some nice charm. The food was good. The wait staff was busy. I did eat in the bar area so the bar staff were the servers also. Salad was good. Spinach Ravioli was good also. The Spumoni was a nice finish. I would recommend this place.

Spaghetti on the river

By Leona M |

We visited this restaurant with our family after our daughter's college graduation. The restaurant decor was beautifully whimsical; booths made from antique beds and lots of rich wood paneling. This restaurant suits a casual dinner or a special occasion. The view of the river was very pretty. The food was good and reasonably priced. The portions were good; not too little and not too much. The service was quick and attentive. I would definitely eat there more often if we lived in Portland.

Stopped here on our road trip

By SanDiegoShell |

We enjoy the Spaghetti Factory near our home town and wanted to try the original location. We are used to good service and a good gluten-free menu for our son. This location did not disappoint in location or decor. We had a river view too! Our waiter was having some sort of a bad day, unfortunately. We were not greeted or acknowledged for about 10 minutes after we were seated. When he finally did get our drink order he was not friendly at all. We had to order a gluten-free meal for my son who has an allergy and the order came to our table incorrectly made. A very kind manager immediately took care of it. Our waiter side-eyed what was going on from another table. Even after that he never asked how anything was. We think when it was remade, the noodles might have been cooked in the regular pasta water as our son came down sick that evening. Just be sure to make sure that if you have an allergy, the gluten-free pasta is cooked in its own water. We would go back if in the area but we would definitely sit in another servers section. ;)

What a treat it was to eat here again!

By Mary V |

This is a wonderful family restaurant with interesting things to see and something for everyone to eat. You get a lot of food, starting with a load of warm fresh sourdough and butter - this is followed by a salad with your choice of dressing and a dish of spaghetti with your choice of sauce(s). It was really nice and we had a great time catching up over a leisurely lunch. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Food always good at Old Spaghetti factories

By northernk |

Beautific Old Spaghetti factory on the river such a lovely restaurant whether eating inside or outside you can have great river views or view the beauty of the structure itself. One of the great things about this chain from Portland is the unique locations they always pick in this case built along the river. We sat out back and enjoyed a nice day and lovely views. Had good service from a busy wait staff, and the food was tasty as usual, though i do believe they have raised their prices the last few years as many have. In any case, highly recommend for an enjoyable meal and location very nice.

Great food

By littlebird_overseas |

Traffic was so bad that we stopped of for dinner. If you don't want to wait for a table, you may order in the bar, if you are over 21. Our server in the bar wasn't very outgoing when we first ordered drinks and appetizers. After deciding to stay for dinner, the staff livened up a bit. We've eaten at this location since 1988, and have never been disappointed. My kids always enjoyed have dinner here. If you eat here during December, you can see the Christmas boat parade. Enjoy!!

It is what it is.

By Steve R |

Never been to Portland and wanted to find a restaurant on the water. We were pointed to this part of town and the only restaurant on the river was The Old Spaghetti Factory. I've never been an Old Spaghetti Factory fan as it's Non-Italian, Italian food. It was indeed right on the river and watching amateur sailors in little duck boats, or Kayakers was really quite entertaining. The food is just what I've found in the past,,,,,,blah. Filling without being fulfilling. Also the waitress did something I hate. I grew up in the business with my family owning several restaurants, so I know the trick well and to me it's stealing from the business. When she delivered the check she said intentionally "whoops, I forgot to put the drinks on the bill" but didn't ask to correct it. To most customers they feel they've gotten several dollars in "free" drinks, so they tip the server more. Pretty sleazy.

Spaghetti with a view

By Kim H |

The view is what makes this Spaghetti Factory great. Get a table next to a window and watch the boats go by on the Willamette. Good food. Good prices. Same Spaghetti Factory interior with booths made from bed frames, jewel tones galore, and a caboose you can dine in.

Rude service

By Kim P |

The host took my name as we arrived and phone number so he could text when our table was ready. I asked about bar seating. He said if I found a table to come back and tell him. I went back to tell him we found a table and I had to stand in line again. When I got up to him, he could not find my name on his list and casually said "Oh well". Who knows how long we would have waited to learn that if we had not gone to the bar! We received our food and I requested a side sauce. 10 minutes later 2 waiters came to our table and while one filled our water glasses they visited about other customers. I waited for them to finish speaking but before I could ask him about my sauce they walked off without looking at us still involved in their own conversation. I finally got a waiter's attention and told him I was waiting for sauce. The manager finally brought the sauce and apologized. I explained no one had brought us bread, no one checked how we were and we wanted to order our dessert immediately. Another 10 minutes later we got our dessert but the server didnt have spoons and we watched her walk all over trying to find one for us. When they brought our ticket they had marked off my dinner which I appreciated. We eat at OSF in Denver frequently and love it. The food was good here, but much smaller portions. All in all, would never come to this Location again.

Beautiful

By Kimmer49 |

The Old Spaghetti Factory is beautiful. The huge glass and wood doors are spectacular, and the furniture timeless. I love the spaghetti with rich meat sauce, but there is so much more on the menu. Everything is good at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Go for the food, stay for the atmosphere.

Indifferent

By Mark T |

We were a party of 8 on a weekday evening. The entrance hall was welcoming and furnished with colored lanterns and old woody atmosphere. The spaghetti was however ordinary. My wife had their signature spaghetti with meat sauce. and she commented that what I made for her at home occasionally taste a lot better. I had their "Vesuvius" -only slightly spicy and rather bland, None of the taste symphony of multiple herbs/spice combination. Service was however prompt and polite. Helpings were large, too large for Asians. Nice location by the river side. Large car park.

Great family restaurant

By Mary M |

Although noisy, the riverfront location is beautiful. Our food was really good, and service was excellent.

Good good horrible service

By RickandJudyH |

We called and made reservations for a birthday party for 12. Seated 15 minutes after the reservation time. Food and drinks arrived promptly but it crashed and burned from there. Birthday cakes (preordered) never arrived. We finally went to manager and they lamely sang with 3 people to my 80 year old mom. They finally brought plates and a knife and we just asked for it to go. Waited another 25 minutes for checks to be corrected and cashed out. What an ordeal. Will be back but never with a group.

Food is always consistently Good!

By 9876BFE |

This is a sweet spot and building for a restaurant. The food here is consistently good. A great place to meet new servers as like most spag-fac's they seem to change regularly. The atmosphere is warm and inviting some tables have a beautiful view of the river, which I always try for, The value has lost some with the exclusion of basic non-alcoholic beverages like pop and coffee from the included with the meal price.

Family birthday

By Ann BK |

We don't eat here often, usually for a birthday, anniversary, etc, but always enjoy it. The atmosphere, ambiance, Willamette River view, excellent service, well-prepared food make the 3-course meals special. We were a family of six; everyone ordered differently & said their food was amazing. The house wine is quite good. Our reservations ensured we were seated immediately.

The best broccoli ever!

By PDXishome |

We ordered some side dishes of broccoli-buttery, lightly tossed with cheese-truly delicious. Other dishes were so-so: lasagna, ravioli, meat sauces; nothing to exceptional. The dining area overlooked the water, and that was a delight.

Customer Service Needs Improvement

By scubawakeboarder |

I almost gave this place a 1-star because for the past 30 years their customer service has needed improvement. It doesn't matter if I go to their Portland or San Jose restaurant. Recently, we waited 30 minutes before getting a server, and that was only after I had informed them that we did not have one. To their credit they didn't charge us for one of our appetizers to make up for it. It wasn't enough in my opinion, but at least they tried. I keep returning only because of their mzithra, but I always brace myself for their customer service. We enjoy their food and ambience, so we'll probably keep giving them more chances. Sigh.

Perfect Birthday!!

Surprised my wife with dinner here and friends waiting for our arrival on her birthday. Everything was exceptional, including the staff that helped us pull it all together!! This is now a MUST DO anytime we can!! :)

Lunch after OHSU

By ledybug |

Was the first time for us. Great food! Staff were very nice. Loved the decor & view of all the activity on the river! We will be back!

We LOVED our food tonight!

By LaurieB980 |

We made a reservation for the outside seating (pretty much required as those tables are VERY popular!) as friends with small kids were with us for the afternoon, and we knew that everyone would enjoy The Old Spaghetti Factory especially if we could eat outdoors! And the two little kids as well as the 5 adults all loved the food, the view of the river, and the service given us by our sweet server, Chloe! I especially loved the "zesty sausage and pasta" dish I got as the sausage had great flavor. The Chicken Parmigiana was also very good, and Chloe kept the homemade bread coming! I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to come back a few days later just to get the sausage and pasta again! That day WILL come SOON!!

Service lacking, average food, good value

By littlemtn |

We ate here as a large group and it started with a 30 minute wait at 4:30 pm even though the place was barely half full. They don’t take reservations and the waiting room was packed. Their management of seating guests is greatly lacking. When we finally got seated we ordered drinks which didn’t arrive till after the salads and main course was served. Someone came and apologized for the delay and it was still 15 minutes to get two beers, two wines and a milkshake. Pathetic. The food was okay given its the regular average pasta and assorted sauces, nothing special. Of course my caesar salad had croutons which i specifically said I did not want, but of course I got anyway. The best part about the meal was the fair price for the 3 course meal and the sourdough bread which was hot, tasty and plentiful. If you go here, don’t expect to be seated right away and don’t is expect even average service. Its below average and the meals are average. If you don’t mind a crowded and extremely noisy dining experience, eat here, its cheap.

Family birthday

By glinda1 |

3 generations enjoyed a nice dinner on a very busy Saturday night. It's a really lovely family experience, lots of ambiance and good feelings and yes, somewhat noisy. Each of us ordered different meals--potpourri, Vesuvius, spaghetti w/clam sauce, etc. OSF has been a PDX tradition for almost 50 years--reliably well-prepared food & attentive service. We typically go to this location or to Hillsboro for a special occasion rather than regularly, so we look forward it. Besides, how many restaurants serve soup/salad, entree, dessert, hot bread for about $15.00? FYI: I'm not an employee/owner's friend, just a diner who appreciates a value & good dining.

Ciao Bella, Delisioso!

By Paula N |

This was a must visit and eat at Restaurant, since it was recommended by several people. Food was good, atmosphere was fun and I would go there again anytime we visit Portland!

Great atmosphere

By Christina L |

This place has a great atmosphere with lots to look at and amuse yourself with while you wait for your table... Which is good because you will probably have to wait for quite some time. Despite having reservations, we waited over 20 mins. Our table overlooking the river made up for the wait, but if you are super hungry you will be out of luck. Very cool building. I recommend eating here for the experience at least once.

Loved our view over the river

By Brittany M |

We enjoyed our visit to this location. Food was very good. Server seemed a little distracted, but appeared to be running around to a lot of tables. We were seated in the windows with a view of the river so it was a very relaxing meal.

ALWAYS a wonderful value and ambiance!

By Sunshine061967 |

We love the experiences we have at Old Spaghetti Factory! I have been eating there the last 30 years and have seen many changes. A few of the original staff members i knew 30 years ago are yet servers still too. Great value, great service and always great food! Family atmosphere and also a great place for a first meeting date as well. Able to accommodate large groups like wedding parties, or sit in the upstairs bar for a cocktail as you watch the river boats move slowly past. We attended dinner before going to the Nutcracker Ballet on evening of December 23rd. Thank you for NEVER disappointing us!!

Solid in quality and service

By Susan P |

This is not fine dining, but they do a great job of providing a good meal at a fair price. The waterfront location is terrific if you have the good fortune to be seated near a window. OSF has become a family birthday tradition, and we go there frequently. Occasionally we have had a complaint, and it has always been met with apologies and quick resolution. The appetizers are great, and I can't stop eating the cheese bread. My favorite is the spaghetti with mzithra cheese--definitely not traditional but really good. After eating too much cheese bread, I wind up having it the remainder the next day. Can't say enough good about this fun place.

Solid dinner

By Martin M |

Staying in the vicinity we returned to the OSF after 4+ years. As before, we were quickly seated and the service was prompt and attentive. Great warm bread accompanied the salads, and surprisingly enough, the tomato-based spaghetti sauce was quite tasty. The portions were generous, so that we literally had no room for dessert.

The Best Old Spaghetti Factory location

By ttocsnodrog_2000 |

This location is the nicest most elegant of all their locations that I have been to, & I have been to over 20 of them. It is located on the banks of the Willamette river and also has some river views too!

Birthday Luncheon Disappointing because of Poor Service

By Janet W |

Two weeks ago we made a reservation for 6 for our family for a birthday luncheon at the downtown Portland Old Spaghetti Factory. It was a weekday at 1:15 and the restaurant was not particularly busy. What could have been a wonderful celebration was marred by poor service. The food was OK but what transpired with the service when we were there we have not forgotten. First of all, we had ordered a birthday cake ahead of time from the restaurant to be given to the birthday boy at the end of the meal. They delivered the cake as promised with a candle but the candle was not lit. When we mentioned that to the server, there was no attempt to go back to the kitchen and get a lighter. So we sang "Happy Birthday" without blowing out the candle. In hindsight, it's actually kind of humorous but we were irritated at the time. But that was just one of several problems with the meal that afternoon. Here's a list of the others: 1. Water was not delivered until the end of the meal despite the fact that we asked for it 3 times and some of us had not ordered another kind of drink. 2. One person's meal was not brought out until most of the others in our party had finished theirs. 3. Another person ordered a "senior meal" but the waiter did not seem to know what was included with it so some items were missing. 4. Another of our party ordered coffee with cream and sugar but the cream was never delivered. We have been to this restaurant several times before but now we are reluctant to return. Or a word to the wise: if you're celebrating a birthday at the Old Spaghetti Factory, bring your own lighter!

Amazing service

By Patrick C |

Last month the family was visiting the northwest and after a day spent hiking around the Colombia gorge we was tired and super hungry-never a great combination. We picked the spaghetti factory cause we are a fan of Theo chains work. The service from beginning to end was prompt, super efficient and professionally charming. We left the restaurant with a spring in our steps and wind in our sails. Combine that with the excellent food, pleasant ambiance and great views this was a great experience.

Amazing, most incredible restaurant.

By acaligiuri7 |

This restaurant is amazing in decor, architectural gem. I travel all over and I've never seen anything like it. There's a railroad car you can dine in inside! The bar is upstairs. Hour wait unless you grab a table first come first serve upstairs. Friendly staff, but we never got our appetizer. Wednesday night, hour wait, busy kitchen. Overpriced wine, go for the beer instead. Amazing house creamy pesto salad dressing. Awesome alfredo with wine and citrus juice. It's just a great experience.

Nice place, reasonable pricing

By ronk699 |

Food was bery good tecieved good service on a busy night. Seemed to handle it well fairly priced enjoyed drinks and a fine meal

Great location, food ok

By reisenderjo |

Been there on an invite for a team function and it is a unique place. Really nice setting at the river with great views. Crazy interior with a wild mix from a streetcar to Tiffany lamps. Service was great and quick. The menu is extensive and features all kinds of Italian fare. Food is decent, would not go there for just the pasta but the overall package of food, service and ambiance works well and makes it completely worth a visit.

This good but not great

By Mike T |

If good average Italian food at a reasonable is what you are looking for , then this will be ok . This is not special Italian Sussex , hand made noodles , meat balls and sauces . But then the price is not high either . Service was good . Setting was noisy with little kids in the area . Good for a family or on a budget

Another fine meal

By johnandlinda19178 |

Sought out the restaurant since we had been to the one in So. Calif. Same excellent service/food quality on this one...

Great meal at a reasonable price

By Rachael M |

At the Old Spaghetti Factory you get a 3-course meal for about $20 a person. I had chicken piccata, salad and ice-cream and it was delicious. Our table overlooked the river, which was a bonus. Nice friendly staff, prompt service.

Don’t bother with reservations, they don’t prioritize or honor them.

By Mama_roxy97119 |

We had made reservations for five for dinner before heading to a concert. Reservation was for 6:45pm and we weren’t seated until 7:15pm. We arrived on time, and yes, they were busy. Everyone else was seated prior to us, I am not sure what the point of the reservations were. Very disappointed.

Good basic Italian food and value with great view

By somewhereoutthere |

Interior of restaurant is large, interesting and nice. Great for group dining. The food is basic Italian, not fancy but pretty good. Each meal is 3 course with warm bread, salad or soup, pasta and ice cream. Very good value. It sits right next to river, so tables by the window has great view. I would definitely go back and take friends with me.

Consistent Across the Board

By Shannon C |

The charm of the Old Spaghetti Factory has worn over the years, but the mizithra cheese pasta will remain forever one of my favorite things to eat.

Really a cool place to eat

By athena5365 |

Let me preface my review with I would have given them a 5 except several of my favorites we're not on the menu. I like the three courses that come with every meal. I tend to like really spicy food so I was hoping for a fra diavolo. I also wish they had a N arrabiata . Inside looks great server was fantastic. The spicy dish I got had sausage and beef in it was okay not great. Salad and Spumante we're really good.

Very Good Dinner, but Small Portion

By Mark S |

We had a party of 11 that had dinner there. The food was very good, but the chicken parm portion was very small. It's a nice restaurant in a nice location, on the water. The prices are reasonable.

They do partial dinners and it's on you.

By Becky P |

Ordered on GrubHub for the chicken fettucine alfredo with broccoli. Received the chicken and broccoli and no alfredo sauce or noodles. Spent $34 and GrubHub refunded me $14. Don't order from here.

Good food at reasonable price with priceless River view.

By 910dellaw |

Try the broccoli in mizitha and brown butter sauce!!!!!!!!! Chicken parm is excellent too. Gluten free options are excellent as well.

Not the same as it ever was

By DeHypnotist |

The ambiance is great and the waitstaff delightful. The food, however, has gone institutional -- lacks fresh spice taste, fairly insipid. Wish the Italian Sausage were not relatively bland chicken and the Sicilian Meatballs had a less processed flavor.

Allergies? No spaghetti for you.

By bouncebackmom |

Checked in at @4:40 to a lively reception area. Very dark, but some nice features like a chandelier and prominent staircase. No seats downstairs which is ok, but before asking to be seated upstairs, I asked if there would be any issue with my Allium allergies. I was assured that they could work around it. Upstairs I went and checked in again with the bartender to be sure you could work around the allergies. She has some shored me that they can. So I took a seat facing the window with a view of the Willamette . Sirnice. I get it. I'm in the "lounge" upstairs, so they are naturally interested in serving alcohol. But until I decide WHAT entree I will select, I am not interested in making a choice yet. My server, Ann is sweet, but I've been asked twice if I want anything to drink except water. No. However i would like a napkin and utensils. Again, I check in about working around my allergies. After a bit of hesitation, I request she check in with the chef. She returns with ONE option: Greek cheese over pasta. Well, I guess that's my choice. A few minutes later the salad Little more then shopped iceberg sprinkled with red cabbage. My salad dressing options? Oil and lemon. OK. Oil and limit it is. The main dish arrived lacking in the brown butter sauce I envisioned. In fact, I couldn't detect any butter anywhere. I did my own olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. I think it's time to blow this joint. Fortunately, the table beside me were delightful conversationalists and the eagle soaring over the river made for a nice diversion. Well I return? Not a chance so I will deduct a star for preparation.

First time to this classic venue!

Great food, hasn't changed a bit. Service was poor; felt like server was doing bare minimum. But we left full and content, so that's gerat.

Outstanding food, service, and atmosphere

By Stephen W |

The Old Spaghetti Factory is a great place to take the whole family, or to take that special person in your life. The food is excellent, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is the best. We were seated with a view of the Willamette River. The OSP is family owned. There are OSP's all over the U.S. The menu is the same at each different locale. I have personally been to a dozen OSP's. The food is as good in Portland, St Louis, Chandler and Phoenix. If you have the opportunity to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory, Go you will not be disappointed.

Always good, always fun

A family favorite whenever in portland. Mizithra and gluten free pasta. Consistently good, affordable Italian.

Great value, family friendly

By estra1 |

Staff were super friendly and accommodating. You may have to wait for a table if you arrive after 6:30. We sat by the window with nice views of the river. Great value for money and the food is more comfort style with generous portions.

Could have had a better Lasagna from the freezer section..

By soccer10197042 |

The service was great but the Lasagna was one of the worst that I have ever eaten. Seriously could have had a better Lasagna from the freezer section of the grocery store.

Great food, large portions

I ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory growing up in Phoenix. I had no idea it was a chain restaurant and started in Portland. My wife suggested it for dinner, and I am glad she did as we both enjoyed it. For about $14 each, we got a loaf of tasty bread, a side salad, pasta dinner, and cup of ice cream for dessert. I had the chicken fettuccine and it was some of the best fettuccine I've had in recent times. The atmosphere was nice with the Willamette River directly behind the restroom. With the railroad car inside, I'm sure kids would like to come here as well. Well worth a visit.

Romantic dinner

The Old Spaghetti warehouse headquarters is on the Wilmette riverside and views are great. Wonderful food and great service, antiques furniture, a touch of Italy in the building style. The crab stuffed ravioli is great. The meat lovers meatballs and sausage were delicious and filling. Sailboats on the river were good

Great food

It started Out a little Rocky. The waitress was horrible but the manager took over and made it an enjoyable time. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was nice. Had a water view from our table.

A great classic

By Jenny J |

This building is amazing. The food is always good here and service was wonderful. We went in the winter and they sat us near the river so we had a great view and the trees were all covered in Christmas lights. There was a place for my boys to get some energy out before dinner upstairs in the game room and good sitting area.

Nicest One I have enjoyed

By Sheamus0104 |

We took another couple and their kids (8 and 10) last night. The food was very good as usual at OSFs but the location, facility and STAFF were the nicest we have encountered. Kudos to the management and staff for making an expected Good Night turn into a great night. Our server treated the kids with respect and patience. Well done!

Good Service with Average Food

Having attended a performance of the ballet near the waterfront we decided to go to Old Spaghetti Factory. We arrived at 5:15 and finally got seated a 6:15 (I think the manager discovered how long we had been waiting). Services was good, and prices are reasonable. We had their signature spaghetti with meat sauce. The best I could say was 1) the amount was not overwhelming, and 2) it was lacking what I would call a good meat sauce. I had the minestrone , and it had a fairly rich broth and lots of vegetables. My wife opted for the green salad. It is nothing more than chapped iceberg lettuce with some cabbage and carrots. Perhaps some of their other dishes are better (we had a fairly good parmesan takeout during the pandemic). Overall, we were underwhelmed.

In many ways, it is exactly what you think!

By Wayne Centrone |

In many ways, it is exactly what you expect. The Old Spaghetti Factory is a strange by-proudct of Denny's and the Olive Garden spawning an offspring. Honestly, this is just a place for kids. The ambiance, the food, the drinks - they are tailored made for kids under 12. It's the sort of place where you take your children for an evening where you do not need to be concerned about them making noise or being overy boisterous at the table. The cavernous environment all but muffles any noise that comes from the tables and turns it into a large cacophony. That's nice - as kids deserve to be kids. As for an audlt experience . . . the food, well it's just not that good. Its "out of the box" pasta and a cast of farily generic sauces. The bread - hot and served on a cutting baord - was a big hit for our two 10 year olds. Add to the mix, the overwhelming feeling that you're at a Denny's - and its not an adult evening out. Now, with all of that said - it's certainly something that's manageable. The staff are kind and hard working. They have a truncated list of wine pours and draft beers; and, they have a few bespoken cocktails. If, however, you're looking for a handmade pasta and carefully curated provential Italian food experience - this is not your place

Love this place

By crnpdx |

The building is beautiful and the service was great. My favorite is three manager's special-pick two sauces, soup or salad, bread...yum!

Everyone really enjoyed their meal!

By Travelganters by Lori Cook Travel |

Everyone in our group didn't want to spend a lot of money on supper so I suggested OSF and everyone was extremely happy with their food, the price and the service! Very nice building and location on the water too!

The food was ok..

By Marcy B |

I wanted to have a great experience here but it didn't happen. It is a beautiful place but the food was just ok. There can be long lines and sometimes it takes a while for the food to get to you. The wait staff is usually great but forgetful. The kids love to come here.

Good value

By CluckMo |

Yes, you will find better Italian food in the city, but none for about $12-$14 which includes bread, soup or salad, and ice cream. Great for families.

Nothing fresh. All prefab frozen and from a box. Sad!

By Jenny T |

My husband and I were looking for a place for dinner near to where we stayed for medical treatment. Skip this one. Food is all made up ahead of time, most definitely from a box anyone could get at Costco. Salads were iceberg with a paltry amount of dressing. Ravioli was unremarkable. Spumoni ice cream should have fruit and nuts. Theirs had neither. So many really good restaurants in Portland. This is a big disappointment. 👎🏼👎🏼

Great food and service

By SteenInCasper |

We have been here before, and as usual were not disappointed. Exotic atmosphere, great appetizers and good food choices. I prefer the combo pasta, but ravioli is also great. Italian sodas from the bar upstairs are great, either with or without cream, and their wine selection is good. It feels a lot more upscale than what you would expect from pasta. Just be aware of directions before you get there. Or you end up driving across the river.

Swanky place - average food

By olthomas44 |

We stumbled on this spot and we were hungry so we went in. We were first led to a table with a panoramic view of the river (so far so good!) but for some reason we were then led back downstairs again with an apology. This place is very swish and enormous. We had high expectations. I'm not sure what it is about eating out in USA but even fancy places seem to cater for the lowest common denominator and for a place that advertises itself as a pasta place it was pretty poor. Look it was all edible and the kids were happy enough but I can cook better at home! Typical US meal of salad/bread, pasta, ice cream desert. Wouldn't rush to go back despite the promise of a river view next time.

So-so Food and Service - Nice Location

By DickandMary R |

We took our family because our granddaughter wanted to go, and they were staying nearby. For the price, the food was edible. However, there are much better places for Italian style food in Portland and at about the same price. I had the spaghetti with two sauces (a special), but my meal at another Portland local chain yesterday with spaghetti and marinara was far superior as well as tasty. I had the minestrone, and it was well stocked with vegetables in a good broth. The lettuce salad was good old head lettuce (I thought that had gone out of style years ago). Our spinach salad last night, even though it cost $6 put The Factory's salad to shame. The included "spumoni" appeared to be only vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. Oh yes, our grand daughter loved the mac and cheese. Service was a bit ragged. On the other hand, the view from our table of the Willamette was very good. That was our first, and last, visit to Old Spaghetti Factory. Even if I paid a few dollars more, I can point to at least a 1/2 dozen Portland restaurants that serve far better "typical" Italian food.

Very good

By Phins_Up_Quincy |

As always with Spaghetti Factory, food was very good, and service was fine. Restaurants need to learn however, that when you're going to put a large group of boisterous children in a room for a birthday party, it's really not a great idea to shove a bunch of tables together right next to adult diners (with no kids!). An otherwise enjoyable meal was completely ruined by overzealous, uncontrolled children, and the headache lasted all through the night! Quite disappointed in the restaurant.

Courses brought too early.

By ScruffyOne |

Seated At a nice table on the window. Ordered drinks which came promptly. Ordered salad which was good and came promptly. Ordered main course and came on top of the unfinished salad and I had to move my plate to accommodate the early arriving main course. Why doesn't the management team teach to clear in between courses and only serve the next when completed ? Watched other tables and it was a consistent practice. Fix it.

Great food, service, and location

By Carol H |

We met our son and daughter-in-law for dinner there while they were staying at the Ronald McDonald House. We all enjoyed the delicious sourdough bread and our entrées. Service was attentive, and the restaurant is right on the river. If we had known, we would have reserved an outside table, but we were able to see the river from our table. We’re definitely going back! Recommend: Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli, Pasta with Mizithra Cheese and Browned Butter.

Just Ok

By Kayaktherogue |

It was later on Sunday and a lot of places were closed. Spaghetti Factory was still open so we went. While the service was attentive the food was just pedestrian at best.

Good value

By piratejosh76 |

Never having been, we went here not knowing what to expect. The setting of the restaurant was nice. A large facility, we were fortunate to get a table facing the river. Service was quick and efficient. The salad seemed freshly prepared. The load of bread brought to the table was warm, bordering on hot. The sauce was seasoned just right. Overall, the meal was just what we needed after a day of travelling.

Great Service, good food

By MattSimiskey |

We met family for dinner and our service was great. The food was good. The character of the restaurant was unique and charming. We'd definitely go back.

The crowds out vote me

By brwydave02 |

You get adequately prepared Italian dishes with a salad/soup and dessert for a very good price. The place was crowded, at 5 pm on a Sunday evening there was a 20 minute wait to be seated. Why, I don't know, but the last time I had eaten at the Old Spaghetti Factory was when it was located in Old Town Portland in 1978 and I was reminded why I had never returned. This visit we went as the guests of friends and we did enjoy their company.

Just a another wonderful dinner on the riverside restaurant headquarters, so classy. Great crab stuffed ravioli

Food and scenery were great!

We went for a late lunch. Had a nice window seat overlooking the water. We all had spaghetti and it was wonderful!

Tasty food in fun environment

By Richard A |

Tasty italian-american food and plentiful; decor makes the meal enjoyable, especially if you get a table overlooking the Willamette River; balloon guys gets kids smiling; staff very good

Yum Yum

By Ruth F |

Yum Yum is the best way to describe the food. Staff is friendly and there’s a lot of seating. The building itself is quite beautiful and the food is absolutely amazing. If my waistline could afford it I probably would eat here once a week.

The building is fantastic, and that's all....

By Whender888 |

The only thing going for this place is the fantastic building it's in, the food is very bland. For a restaurant specializing in pasta you would think that their sauces would be spot on, not the case the sauces on the Fettuccine Alfredo and the spaghetti were worse then most jarred sauces.

Impressive facility on the river.

By nonstopjoe |

Had a party of 10 (including 5 kids). Were seated at a large table which could have handled several more people. Waiter was competent and attentive without being overbearing. Food was standard fare for a spaghetti place, well prepared and tasty in abundant quantities. Prices are moderate.

Always the best!

By Scott B |

Haven't been to OSF in about 10 years - had forgotten how good EVERYTHING is.... from the sourdough bread to the main course.... perfect. Little bit of a wait, but the place is very popular....
