Detroit does it better

By Jae |

I liked the pancake house here in Buckhead, Atlanta but, I say but , once you've had pancake house in Detroit everyone else seems blah. I may be a little bias to my home state but it is what it is, will I come back here maybe, will I recommend to a family member or friend yes. Only to prove my point of Detroit does it better (Southfield/Birmingham) coming through for the city. My over all experience was great, staff very nice and personable I will return just for that, loved our waitress.

Food, nothing more

By SchneiderVision |

I feel like I should apologize to the staff of the Atlanta Original Pancake House for bothering them by wanting breakfast. The service was efficient but not welcoming or even pleasant. I ordered the bacon pancake, sounds yummy right? It had no flavor, not of bacon or pancake. I'm in town all week, but I won't be back here.

Jordan was a rock star

By David P |

Tried this spot on a quick trip through Atlanta. Great vintage diner feel and ample portions on the food. The omelet and the short stack of pancakes were delicious and huge. Jordan, our server, was super attentive and pleasant. She gave you the sense that she truly enjoyed her job and the people she encountered there. The balance of good food, fun atmosphere and exceptional service will bring me back my next time in town.

Don't bother

By johnkautzman |

The wait was long. The restaurant was dilapidated and dirty and the general lack of attention was also reflected in the poor service and mediocre food. Pancakes are their specialty but the pecan pancakes were flavorless and lacked texture.

My favorite breakfast restaurant

By Linda T |

Their hours are limited, their portions huge and their parking lot full. The wait staff was practically born there, they've been there so long and each one is a character. Everything is fresh, the menu huge, and the patrons loyal. Everything is good, but you've gotta try the Dutch Baby pancake-- amazing! I'll meet you there!

Excellent

By Prissymoreno |

The hostess gave us a 30 min wait but we were seated in 10 minutes. The place was extremely busy but the servers were very attentive. We order the Lucky derby and the bacon plate. It was probably enough food for 3 people.

Long wait for food

By GATravelersRetires |

When we make trips to Atlanta we like to eat here; however, it was very disappointing today. We ordered the Apple Pancake knowing it takes 20 minutes to prepare. Not sure if the waitress didn't place our order or confusion in kitchen; however, it was a 45 minute wait before our pancake arrived. After I inquired what happened to our order, the waitress said "another 2 minutes" and it turned into another 20 minutes. I am weary of hearing "thank you for your patience" like that makes poor service ok. The waitress noticed that I was not happy (althought I did not say anything) and offered us a 10% discount. When it was applied to the check, it showed up as senior discount which we should have been offered to start with since it was obv ious we are seniors. We will return on our next trip to Atlanta, but will make not wait patiently assuming food is coming shortly.

One of my favorite places

By Tbbsmr |

Plan on standing in line but so worth the wait. Most times the service is good but when busy plan on waiting, once again the food is worth the wait. The pancakes are out of this world, the German pancakes with lemon, butter and sugar are my favorite.

Solid breakfast with no frills

By eethomaswfnc |

If you're in the Buckhead/Emory area, the Original Pancake House is a good place to fill up before heading out exploring Atlanta or hitting the Buckhead shopping district. If you rate your breakfast by the coffee quality, you will probably be disappointed. Good sized portions and variety of items on the menu add up to a good start to your day.

Great for a big breakfast

By SouthernTrvlr |

Had breakfast here with a group of 6 friends and two kids on a Sunday morning. I don't usually eat here because they always seem to be busy. Was prepared for a long wait. They were busy, but we waited for only 5 minutes and they had put together a table for 8. Our waitress was super friendly and organized. Nobody left hungry.

A very reliable choice for breakfast in Atlanta

By N_and_R |

We have been to this restaurant many times. We keep coming back because it's so reliable. The service is friendly and efficient. The menu is probably not that different from any other Original Pancake House. However, the traditional diner decor is wonderful. The place appears to be always busy. Food is good. Highly recommended.

Who says you can’t go home again?

By Charlestonian13 |

As a kid in Illinois, a trip to Walker Brothers (Original Pancake House) in Wilmette was always a huge treat. The memory of the ridiculously enormous Apple Pancake is burned in my brain. Over the years we have sought out this wonderful establishment in other parts of the country, and imagine our delight when we found this location on a trip to Atlanta. In short order our table was covered with a Dutch Baby, Bacon Pancakes, Buckwheat Pancakes, omelets...you name it. And service by the cool-under-pressure Regan was the icing on the cake. Don’t be deterred by the long line. Quality is worth waiting for!

Surprised Me

By Sandra R |

I've usually don't go into pancake restaurants because I'm gluten sensitive but I thought I would go and get some eggs. Trying to eat healthy, I ordered a omelet with whites only with mushrooms and cheese. It took a long time to come out BECAUSE, they took the time to make it taste better by whipping the whites, saying they cooked better that way, and then they put it in the oven to bake. Well, a huge, puffy, delicious thing came out on my plate. I was so surprised how good it tasted. Couldn't finish it it was so big so I took it home and reheated it for another meal. Two meals in one for $7.00. Can't beat that.

Great breakfast, but made me realize that not all Originals are the same.

By Melifluffy |

Our server was awesome! She was friendly, full of smiles and took good care of us. The Apple pancake, the Ham and Cheese Omelette and the pecan pancakes we tried were all tasty and worth the wait. Breakfast was great; however, it made me realize that the Original's are similar, but not the same. They are franchises and get to choose some of what is on their menu apparently. So, if you are from Toledo, OH and have eaten at the Original there, know that you will not be eating the most awesome omelette ever, the Pot Roast Omelette, in Atlanta. That was a bit of a bummer.

Original Pancake House

By Daihlo |

I love this place - and do NOT confuse it with IHOP or International House of Pancakes - this is on another level - it has every type of pancake you could imagine and then some - plus they have specialty pancakes like the apple pancake which takes a bit longer to cook but is sinfully delicious - think Cinibon meets apple pie and your in the taste ballpark of this huge pancake that looks more like a cake on your plate - also try the huge but very light Dutch baby pancake that tastes a bit like a popover or crepe consistency with lots of egg in it to keep it fluffy - I also enjoy their fresh orange and grapefruit juice - it really is freshly squeezed right when you order - inside is nothing special just you standard diner feel but always clean - open early and the wait staff have always been prompt and friendly - ample parking outside and great value for money Steve

Breakfast

Disappointing

By Henry10_10 |

A good waiter or waitress can make a huge difference for any dining experience, and up until now we have had a great experience at this breakfast spot. And looked forward to our time there. But with no "Good morning", "how are you", "welcome to the Original Pancake House" instead with "Do you know what you want to drink", then "Have you decided on your meal", and then slings the coffee and plates on the table without a word, it becomes obvious that the server is not trained to be a waiter, doesn't care and is letting the rush to get their job done overtake them. Granted I should have read the menu to see that potatoes are an add-on, but usually they come with breakfast and I assumed they did here too, so we both ordered potatoes. Two plates of potatoes arrived, soggy, mushy and overly seasoned with onions - basically inedible. But the offense occurred when the bill arrived and we were charged $8 more for the potatoes that neither of us ate. When questioned the waiter said this the way this place operates and potatoes are extra. He was somewhat solicitous and offered to ask the manager to take these off the bill, but we refused, paid the bill and registered our displeasure with the cash register attendant and manager, who both apologized. A poor beginning to an otherwise very nice Sunday in Atlanta.

Pancakes! Very Big pancakes

By largeorange3534 |

A classic!! Great food!! Great pancakes!! This should be on your bucket list or you Atl to do list. I'd eat here everyday if I could.

Classic old-fashioned breakfast experience

By Melissa K |

This place is amazing!! I've been coming here since I was a kid, and the food is still amazing. It has a wonderful old-fashioned diner feel. Highly recommended the cured thick-sliced bacon and the blueberry pancakes.

Delish!

By gagirlinpc |

Went here after church on a Sunday. 30 minute wait. EXTREMELY cramped. Much in need of upgrades. I LOVE cafe/boutique type places, but it was a little scary here due to poor condition of the place. Our server was just ok. She was likely just swamped and messed our order up a little. The food was nothing short of amazing. One of the best breakfasts EVER! Pancakes galore. The portions are huge and you do pay for that. Prices seemed on the high side. ($9.15) for an omlet. I didn't try flavored pancakes, but will next time. Can't wait to go back!!!

inexpensive and good is always nice

i ate here a few times after church. the food was really good. not such a cool ambiance but wasnt bad.

Good Food and Service

By Illinois_John |

Stopped here for breakfast with a family group. The restaurant is located in a large shopping area so there is plenty of parking available. My brother appreciated the fact that a number of menu items could be ordered as a half order. The eggs were cooked exactly as ordered, the crepes were excellent. My sister’s crepes were burnt and so the server brought her a plate of berries to eat as she had to wait for her meal. An excellent way to make up for the delay. My only disappointment was that I did not like the pancakes! They were dry and rather heavy. Given the name of the restaurant this was a surprise. I would definitely return, but would not get the pancakes.

From a great restaurant to terrible in one year

By DanTheMan |

This was a favorite of our family for years. Delicious food and reasonable prices made this a Sunday morning destination and had people lined out the doors if you didn’t get there early enough. Last year, the place was old and is now under new management. The food isn’t what it once was and the service has also gone way, way downhill. They are friendly, but good luck getting what you ordered delivered correctly the first time. The owners or management is nowhere in sight, which is far different that how things used to be. We will have to find a better Sunday morning breakfast place. Such a shame.

Excellent Brunch

By ddmullis |

On Easter Sunday I chose the original pancake house to have brunch. I was seated at the bar and quickly greeted by Ivan. I placed my order of flapjacks and bacon. Both were cooked to perfection. I requested tropical syrup and the meal was complete The coffee was top notch and Ivan kept the refills flowing. No doubt this is a top notch spot for breakfast or brunch

Steak & eggs over pancakes

By Jamie W |

Great service & fair prices! My friend loved the pancakes. The bacon was delish. Perfect coffee with endless refills. Great corned beef hash. I’d return for sure.

one of the top three breakfast places in Atlanta

By babsorama6688 |

Now that OK Cafe is out of commission, OHOP (along with Sun in my Belly and Thumbs Up) is the best place for breakfast food, open until 3p daily. Unless you enjoy waiting, up to an hour, for a table, go during the week or after 1p. I'm a creature of habit, so I stick to the swiss and onion omelette, English muffin, and a small bowl of strawberries with whipped cream. The coffee is good, and it comes with heavy cream. You really can't go wrong. The potato pancakes are the best I've ever eaten.

Disappointed--

By Mary T |

Let me begin by stating that I usually dine at the Original Pancake House on Memorial Drive where food is served HIT and with a smile. I got neither during a recent visit to the Cheshire Bridge location. I had the day off and met some friends for a breakfast before grocery shopping. Very disappionted with both food and service, Probably wont go back. If this is what happens when they are NOT busy I hate to see what the food and service would be like on one of the weeknd days when I see folk waiting outside....wiating for a table. Not me! I'll go to the Memorial Drive location--That locationis a WINNER.

A Special Treat!

By katork |

Been around a long time and I see why! Not your typical breakfast or lunch! You can get a simple breakfast or fancy. I have had the German Pancake, Dutch Baby, Ga Pecan and Strawberry Pancakes! Not if you are dieting! They are all good. The strawberries were so fresh this last time. Yum! The omelets are huge! They get busy and sometimes the wait is long, but worth it. Service is great and the hostess tries to accommodate. Since they get busy, it is hard to seat large groups, but they try. Look for the current hrs.

Let's Go Dutch

By Jerry L |

This is one of the top destinations in Atlanta for breakfast. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait. It is an extremely popular destination. All of the varied menu offerings are very good, but the signature dutch oven apple pancake dish is to die for...it is like eating a dessert for breakfast! Highly recommended if you've never tried it.

Quick breakfast

By Megan V |

We came here one morning to grab a bite to eat. It was alright, just average quality food. We were seated quickly and served in good time. The waiter was polite and the food was okay. Would recommend if you're in a bit of a rush or looking for an alternative to cooking at home.

Average

By joeworf |

A restaurant is the sum of ones experience. A nice greeting by the hostess, a server who takes your order, (maybe makes a recommendation), checks back after the food is served, and refills your beverage. The pancakes and eggs were good. Surly hostess and a waiter who was to busy flirting with a female customer and never checked back makes this an average experience. Maybe it was eating at the counter versus a table? See photo.

Best Breakfast in Town

By MacInGA |

We make the round trip of about forty miles at least monthly, on Sunday mornings, because they have the best breakfast we've found in Atlanta. Our favorite is their potato pancakes. They are not the heavy deep-fried kind, but are light with just a touch of a tangy sourdough-like taste. They also have the best corned beef hash I've found. Its made in-house. There's always a crowd, but its a big place and they move people through efficiently. The wait staff are older and most of them are very pleasant.

More than just pancakes

By 2yet |

Any place that inspires two people to load up six kids into one car and drive 45 minutes away for breakfast on a Sunday, is a place worth checking out. Always friendly, the staff are consistently efficient, and know how to do their job well. The food comes fast, even on the weekends when it gets busy, and it is GOOD. The menu is extensive, and includes almost every type of breakfast item you can think of. A complimentary "appetizer" of fresh fruit and whipped cream that definitely wasn't cool whip, was a nice touch. You'll spend about $10 a person, with very generous proportions. For instance, my plate of corned beef hash and 3 eggs came with a side of 3 pancakes, and was worth every minute on the treadmill the next day. Weekends do get busy, but you can call ahead to put your name on the wait list, which I recommend if you have a big party.

A very solid meal.

By Clint S |

They have a very wide selection of different types of breakfast items, not just pancakes. The pancakes are very good. They have a great recipe and haven't changed it. The pancakes were delicious. I had an omelet. It wasn't your typical looking omelet so you might need to know that. It was almost like a stuffed pita made of eggs. However, it was very good and a nice surprise. Very satisfied we stopped in.

Great Breakfast!

By HospexpertTN |

I had breakfast there with a friend on a Friday morning. Was great. Called in an order Sunday morning requesting 3 orders of bacon and a biscuit thinking I would get 6 slices. $16 later but what seemed like a pound of bacon, I was happy.

Average desserts but huge portions-great for families!

By FREQTRAV12 |

I have eaten here many times. I love the strawberry crepes. Large portion and the strawberries are always fresh and clean looking. The crepe batter formula could be improved on, but by American standards it's not too bad. The coffee always tastes a bit weird, like the cream is sour. But the home made whipped cream is the highlight of the establishment. Any child would love this place for all the sweet treats. This place is packed on Weekend mornings and lunch so be prepared to wait or come early. Definitely a great place for breakfast food.

No downside (except maybe a wait)

By Joe58156 |

Very good breakfast and a huge menu so you'll find what you want. Get some fresh fruit with sweet homemade whipped cream. Excellent, friendly service. Try to get there early so you don't have to wait for a table. If you do have to wait, take heart: It's worth it.

Saturday Morning Breakfast

By Chris R |

Ate here on a Saturday morning. The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and funny. The manager stopped by the table about halfway through the meal to check on things. The food was very good. I had some cinnamon raisin pancakes with a side of bacon. Highly recommended.

Breakfast 3

By Hank956 |

A must visit. Had the Dutch baby, a must try. My coworkers had a variety of items and all were good. The service was fast, the server was good. The menu is wide and great variety Old fashion breakfast place, a must EAT.

Good food service was off

By Robert L |

Great food! Strawberry pancakes are awesome! Strawberry Syrup is incredible. Bacon pancakes are awesome. Also had an Irish Benedict. ( corn beef hash, egg on an English muffin ) This was really good. Service was off. Lady forgot a lot and wasn’t very attentive to refills. Food is great! 👍

Outstanding Breakfast

By ddmullis |

From the time you arrive you quickly realize this is a place that focuses on quality of food and good service. I enjoyed their 49 flap jacks with thick cut bacon and fresh home fries with grilled onions. The food was served hot and fresh. The coffee was outstanding. The service was excellent from the time I arrived until I departed. I highly recommend this restaurant for a great breakfast

busy spot

By Jeffrey P |

My experience was that this very busy restaurant served better than average breakfast food. Very basic. Nothing special or gourmet. But generous portions and a hearty meal. For a diner type experience even the coffee was better than usual, maybe just because they serve it with cream and not creamer. Our waiter was also very good. He was on the spot, friendly and took good care of us.

Disappointed

By Soloeater958 |

Restaurant had many flies, omlette had very little cheese in the middle considering I ordered a cheese omlette. Guy was mopping with a filthy mop right by my booth ugh!! Won't be back.

A dining "must" for Atlanta visitors

By Diamondtail |

This is a traditional breakfast experience for Atlanta, offering excellent southern staples and some fantastic imports. Although we had to wait to be seated, the delay was worth it. I tried the "Dutch Baby" which despite its macabre connotation as a breakfast dish, was an excellent puffed pancake, cooked in a large skillet and served with butter, powdered sugar and lemon wedges. In addition, all the other dishes ordered the by rest of my friends were similarly delicious and reasonably prices. The staff was cheerful and attentive. If I'm overnighting in Atlanta, I'm definitely hitting this for breakfast.

Simply Atrocious

By Gilbert F |

If I could give less than one star to the this Buckhead Restaurant I would. The food was simply atrocious. I grew up by the original “Original Pancake house” in Oregon and have eaten at others in other cities and until today they all had an amazing consistent quality however the OPH in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta was anything but. One of my favorites is the Swedish pancakes with lingonberry butter. It is supposed to be thin and Lacey and capable of being rolled up with a blend of Swedish lingonberry jam and butter. We were served some huge thin pancake so crisp it breaks, with no flavor and no lingonberry butter even though that is how it is listed on the menu. Instead it was served wet with spilled fake maple syrup. When I asked for lingonberry butter I was brought a tiny cup of jam sufficient for half a slice of toast. The Continental crepe is supposed to be filled with sour cream and served with tropical syrup.what we were served was a crepe filled with what appeared to be a cold cream cheese and again maple syrup. The side of sausage was not the traditional large serving of flavorful fresh sausage but they served something that even McDonalds could beat. I would say a Bodega would serve better scrambled eggs and hash browns.  Simply put, the restaurant server and chef both seemed unfamiliar with their own menu items and turned the Original Pancake House into a bizarre reflection of the chain it represents. I would NEVER return.

It ain't the same as when Darcy Messina owned the franchise

By Airbus_CFI |

I went to the Buckhead, Peachtree Road location. I remember the Dutch Baby as a great and flavorful dish made with lots of Granny Smith apples, the thickened apple juice reduction and the lemon wedges were a work of art. Well, that is a thing of the past. The vast dining room was practically empty on a Sunday morning. I was promptly seated and asked for a beverage. The coffee came back lukewarm and no spoon! There were no regular sugar packets in the container. I asked for sugar and it was brought in a stainless creamer container. No spoon so one has to be careful not to pour the whole lot into the cup. When the Dutch baby arrived I noted that a Granny Smith apple "essence" was about all of the apples in the dish! In other words, an apple could have been waived over the dish and given about as much apple flavor as was in this dish. The batter was flavorless too. Disappointed...YOU BET as I had been savoring the old Dutch baby for a week. The upside is that parking is free when the parking ticket is presented. Not gonna waste my time again.

Friday lunch

By Craig A |

First of all the health inspection grade was an 85. Anything below 90 to me is suspect. I had potato pancakes, scrambled eggs and corned beef hash. The potato pancakes were not good and the corned beef hash was average.

New owners; not as good

By ted e h |

Been eating breakfast here for over 20 yrs. New owners in 2018. Made some changes which seem less an improvement and more like a regression to the mean. Specialty items still great (Apple pancake - too large for one person, too delicious to consider breakfast more like a dessert) and great coffee! Big portions and lots to choose from. But other menu changes are average. Staff seem to be on different pages. Some will take your credit card payment, others say you must bring it to the register. Some staff are attentive, others you have to flag down. Expect to wait on weekends.

Different kind of breakfast!

By katork |

We have been here several times when we want a breakfast other than Waffle House or CrackerBarrel..Yes it can be noisy and sometimes the wait is long. Today I got the strawberry crepes, but after talking to the waitress, she said I could order less than the 3 amt on the menu. that is good to know. I like the variety of menu items. They have a German pancake and a dutch baby that are good when really hungry!

Ohh so good

By Robert L |

This location is very busy. You can call ahead to put your name on the list. Coffee is great. The hostess and our waitress were very friendly. I had the eggs benidict and a side of grits. It is really good. Our daughter had bacon, eggs and pumpkin pancakes .Pancakes are awesome. My wife had the coconut pancakes ,she said they were great. The portions are plenty. Our son ate a single pancake and grits. We enjoyed our visit. These restaurants are few and far between so if you see one stop in its worth it. This location is great. Plenty of parking.

My first OPH Visit

By thebagel60 |

wow, this is a nice surprise. After seeing a co-op down the block we stopped to get a bite to eat having never eaten there. I ordered two eggs over easy with bacon and. Rye toast. The rye bread tasted home made and was good. The whipped butter that cam also was a nice add. The bacon truly was thick slicked and very meaty. Best bacon I ever ate out. Also ordered a short stack of pea an pancakes. Excellent! Very good food. Whipped butter and warmed syrup added nicely!

Very good . Prepare to wait

By george r |

Lots of parking in the small shopping area. Original pancake house has been around forever. Locals love this place. If coming on weekend be prepared to wait for table. Worth a visit

Great Breakfast...

By Skyarrow1 |

If you happen to go on a Saturday or Sunday morning, don't expect to get in fast, this place is really busy. But it is worth the wait... the food is great. Very large menu which makes it hard to figure out what you want. The hash browns ( home fries ) are the best I have had anywhere. And good luck eating everything you get. We had breakfast two morning from this one meal. Don't forget the coffee either, it was really good with real cream to go in it. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. If there is one fault, don't go here if you are in a hurry, just take it easy and enjoy the food and it is a little pricey, but well worth it.

Love their crepes!

By Bruce B |

Great breakfast place with good variety of choices. I love their fresh strawberry crepes, bacon is really good and thick, and their Dutch Baby is awesome (my friends order that). Nice location and easy to get to from hwy 85, Friendly service makes you feel like it's a family run business.

Best Breakfast in Atlanta

By ddmullis |

Hands down the best breakfast you can get here in Atlanta. The 49 flap jacks are over the top. The 6 egg omelette is plenty to share. The pigs in a blanket never disappoints. The thick cut bacon is always delicious The service is always top notch. The staff has been the same for the past several years and they are all very good Don't forget to try the fresh squeezed orange juice made fresh while you wait

Breakfast/Brunch

By JenniferE |

The crepes and omelettes are delicious! The service is excellent and the wait staff is very attuned to customers' needs. They are friendly and speedy! The portions are plentiful and you can many times split an entree with a friend or get a to-go box. Prices are reasonable! Go early on weekend mornings because the wait builds a little later in the day. We only waited 15 minutes at 11 today, so that's good! The wait time is a testament to the great food and service!

Such a waste

By tracywpaul |

Having been here before the pandemic I know this place has better food and service than what my husband and I were served this morning. Getting there early we assumed it would be a nice change for a special meal on his birthday. Our server was also un interested in taking care of her patrons, scarce until. He dropped off the horrid food, then the check . We didn’t get much chance to complain Here’s a breakdown Eggs Benedict should not have hard boiled eggs, curdled yellow sauce , and cold meat Scrambled eggs should not be runny and made ahead in a pan , nor should we have to ask if they use real eggs since these didn’t look like it Butter should not be left to melt then put back in to get cold again , nasty and unappealing

Best restaurant experience in a long time!

By Sarah B |

I was walking around waiting for a store to open and my aunt recommended this to me. It was busy but I still got top notch service. My waiter, Ivan, was so nice and struck up a conversation with everyone at the bar (where I was sitting). He gave me a free newspaper and wrote down great places to see in Atlanta while I'm here. The food was great and the service was phenomenal.

Burnt eggs, long waits

By Frank R |

The 15-20minute projected wait time the host gave me turned into 40minutes. The server was very friendly, but the food didn't justify the wait. It was also expensive for a breakfast place, the omelettes costing $9.99. Being from the NYC area, that's even more expensive than I'm used to for what is basically a roadside diner! They re-made my friends eggs because they were so overcooked he couldn't eat them, so service was solid, but not somewhere I'd recommend.

Best lil breakfast spot near midtown

By ACT TRAVEL CONSULTANTS |

I flew into Atlanta and wanted to eat somewhere quick and close to Midtown. This was suggested after a google search of the best breakfast spots. What a great affordable menu and some of the best pancakes ever. The Pumpkin pancakes and fresh fruit were suggested by the waitress and were the best. My date loved the bacon and i will be sure to eat here every time I go to Atlanta. Its a must go! Free parking and close to a Publix store.

Dutch baby....yes please

By mbdflynn |

Cute place, friendly staff, first visit during a weekday morning. No wait. The Dutch baby is yummy, kinda a cross between a crepe and a pancake. Potatoe pancakes are tasty. Will return.

Being your appetite

By Playright |

Locally owned favorite. Short stacks are thee but they're huge. Coffe is great and the creamer is half and half.

Father's Day Feast

By TeachingTeachers |

My husband's breakfast of choice this morning was the OPH. Luckily, we thought to call ahead to be put in the waiting list - they were packed! We arrived about an hour and a half after putting our name on the list and still waiting about 15 minutes to sit. Our waitress was friendly and very efficient considering the crowd. I ordered the short stack of pecan pancakes (like Heaven on a plate), 2 eggs, and bacon. I could not finish everything, but it was great. The only complaint is that the bacon is SO thick that it hurt my jaw to chew it. The menu does say thick cut bacon so I did have a little warning; I had never had bacon quite that thick before this experience though. If you are looking for a variety of choices, this is a must!

Poor service

By Alisson B |

Unfortunately, the service was so poor at the new Peachtree location. We did not have a waitress for 20 minutes, finally I got up and talked to the manager. The waitress was out of touch and rude. Obviously, did not want to be there working . The food was good. But, hey I go for the service . Need a major improvement.

Glacial Service, OK Food, But Expensive

By GPBurdell67 |

We had lunch here, our first visit in many a year. They weren't that busy but it took a looooong time to get our food. That food (buckwheat pancakes, egg salad sandwich) was good, but at a relatively high price.

Awesome food not so awesome silverware

By danielrmason |

I had seen this place a time or two when passing by on the bus. I decided to stop in today and check it out. The first set of silverare i pickup had a dirty spoon. However there was ample wrapped silverware near by so i just got a new set. I ordered the corn beef hash and eggs. The food came and it was quite tasty. I ordered the eggs over easy and they were perfect. I seemed to have to track down my waitress for service. However to her credit she was very busy. O to sume it up. The food quality was good the service was ok. I myself will surely be back for another visit.

Best Breakfast In Atlanta!

By Thomas G |

Quite simply, if it's done at the Original Pancake House, they do it best. The pancakes are outstanding, all of the meats are top notch, eggs always prepared to perfection and the fruit is always in season and ripe! I've only gone on the weekend and frankly, at times the wait can be a bit long. The wait staff does their best at taking orders, running their own food, refilling, drinks, etc..., but they are overwhelmed at times. They could probably use extra food runners to make things run smoother during those busy hours. Aside from the minor service issues during the heavy rush, I cannot recommend more highly this great establishment!!

Excellent Breakfast or Lunch

By ddmullis |

I always enjoy eating at the OHP. They offer a wide selection of breakfast and lunch items. They use Hormel meats which are much higher quality than other meats. The prices are reasonable and the service is always top notch They have freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh brewed coffee.

Excellent Breakfast a bit pricey

I have eaten at this location for the past several years. The food is always outstanding and the service is consistantly good. There are normally long waits on the weekends due to the lack of good breakfast places in the neighborhood. The offer the standard fare of eggs, pancakes and omelets. Their hashbrowns are really good and cooked with onions. The only downside which is why I dont eat here more often is the prices. Its hard to get out the door for less than $15 per person including tip.

What a gem !

By Barbara30277 |

We went early on Easter Morning. This place is wonderful ! The dutch baby was delicious. The small fruit plate was incredible. Their whipped topping was out-of-this-world ! Great atmosphere and the service from Grace was phenomenal ! Great hospitality ! We loved stepping back in time and enjoyed every single minute of our experience here. At first , my husband didn't understand why I wanted to drive an hour from home for a "pancake". ...Now he knows :) We WILL be back !

Old reliable

By Traveling Coach |

Had lunch with an old buddy last week and we agreed to meet halfway between our locations. We chose the Original Pancake House as he had never eaten there. Glad we did. This place is old school and reliable. My friend had a Reuben Sandwich (highly recommended by our server) and he loved it. I had to have the breakfast even though we were meeting for lunch. Two eggs over well, patty sausage and a waffle.....comfort food and very tasty. Not sure how long this place has been in this location but it was been a long time. It is not trendy but very predictable and reasonably priced. If you are in the area and want a great breakfast or lunch special, don't miss this place.

What a DEAL!

By Thurman M |

I just enjoyed a VERY NICE breakfast meal at this restaurant, and I was QUITE pleasantly surprised! Upon arriving I took a seat at the bar, as I was by myself. A waitress promptly greeted me and walked me through some of the specialties. I decided to go with the grilled chicken with eggs and oatmeal with fresh meat...DELICIOUS! ...and, QUITE a deal, given the grand portions! I've got one more morning here in Atlanta, and this will CERTAINLY have my patronage!

Old Time Breakfast!

By ERA444 |

Variety of pancake flavors. Great service. Feels like old Atlanta. Cozy and friendly place. There are not too many breakfast places in Atlanta, but this one is definitely one of the best.

This is one of the few greasy spoons for which I'll wait in line and not pout.

Awesome Breakfast Spot

By mtsyman |

The Original Pancake house has been in Atlanta forever and is somewhat of an institution. The wait staff all have many years under there belts and know many of the regulars. The food is very good. I love their Cornbeef Hash!

Brunch was Fun & Delicious

By Neyra A |

Was visiting Atl and decided to look up a place to have brunch with my sons & Bestie ! We ordered everything from Grilled cheese, egg sandwich, Canadian bacon, Swedish pancakes with lingonberry jelly. We loved the food & the customer service was exceptional. Definitely coming back when we visit Atlanta again.

My reviews are usually positive, but not this one, as profits were more important than customers.

By Traveler with budget |

I have written at least 60 reviews of restaurants for various services such as Trip Advisor, and this one is one of the very few in which I have given the lowest rating possible. I chose this restaurant for breakfast with 2 out-of-town guests after purchasing a deal for $15 for $30 worth of food from localflavors.com. We went on a Saturday and waited for at least 30 minutes for a table, not because all tables were taken, but rather that the restaurant was "short-staffed," so several tables were left vacant. I was willing to forgive that, as any business can have people call in sick; however, when I presented my certificate when we ordered, I was told by the waitress that the manager had just decided that no such certificates could be used on a weekend, even though my certificate said that it was good any day in the next 6 months. I argued this point with the waitress, who said that the manager would come and talk with me. He did not do so, but sent another employee, who said he was adamant and that he would give me a discount (which ended up to be 15%) but would not honor the certificate. I showed her the certificate, which was clearly valid and she said that she could not do anything further to help me, because the manager would not change his mind about the certificate. I was struck that he did not speak with me himself, and I felt a bit sorry for the employee, who, I think, realized that I was right but could not do anything. By the way, I told this employee correctly that I had been a fairly frequent customer of this restaurant. This argument over the certificate definitely dampened the enjoyment of the meal. Clearly, any restaurant has the right to decide when it issues a discount certificate the terms of this discount; however, once those terms are clearly spelled out in the certificate, the restaurant ethically has an obligation to honor what the certificates says. I have no plans to return, even though I could use the certificate on a weekday (unless the manager thinks of another reason to fail to honor it).

Great breakfast before heading off for a day trip to the mountains.

By 9isenough |

We wanted to start the day with a big breakfast before heading to the North Georgia Mountains. Our crowd enjoyed chocolate chips pancakes, bacon pancakes, pecan waffles, and flap jacks. The service was fast and friendly. A great start to a fun family day.

This place is BUSY!

By empressellen |

We visited the location on LaVista. It was a Sunday morning and there were quite few parties waiting. We were able to snag spots at the counter with a short wait. This is a heavy-white-coffee-mug kind of place, and the coffee is great. My niece and I ordered a dutch oven and the pecan pancakes and shared the. The dutch oven is an egg dish that is baked in what could best be described as a popover-type bowl. We ordered ours with cheese and veggies. Eggs were a little runny but otherwise good. The pecan pancakes were really good. Counter service was great!

Real pancake!!!!

By Taker269 |

Very local, very original!!! The house special Apple pancake is a great choice, takes 25 min to make but it's worth it. Fast service and the place is very clean.

Good pancakes

By ycarney |

I come here once in awhile when I feel decadent. My favorites are the 49ers pancakes and I really love them but they were not done enough and came to the table almost raw with none of the perfectly brown edges. I was really disappointed. It wasn't even crowded that day. But with all of that, the service was excellent and the staff could not have been friendlier.

Just wonderful

By MetalTravel |

Blueberry Pancakes! Enough said. Okay, bacon too! Super thick-cut and perfectly cooked! The staff were friendly and attentive the entire time. Extensive breakfast menu so the entire family found something to enjoy. Not a bad plate served! Will come again.

great for breakfast

By cowbulls |

This place is always crowded on the weekends, which to me, is an excellent sign because that means the food turns over, which equals fresh ingredients. We waited until after 2 pm on a Sunday, hoping for the crowd to have cleared out, and the place was still on a 3o minute wait. Our server, Nick, was very attentive and eager to please. I love the fact that you can order half orders of many items which enable you to try many different foods. We wanted to try several items, so two of us decided on the Bacon lover's breakfast. The meal comes with eggs, outstanding bacon, potatoes or grits, and a choice of pancakes. I tried the blueberry pancakes and thought they were very favorable. Someone else in out group ordered the strawberry french toast and loved it. We would definately return.

My Favorite Pancake Place Year After Year

By mrsworldwide |

This place is good generally a wait should be expected but you won't be disappointed. I am traditional here, I cannot pass up the delicious pancakes I take them plain. Service is good considering the amount of guests and close quarters.

I had askd or my eggs over easy, but they almost looked raw. Should have sent hem back, but was afraid, they would be over cooked. Sick all day.

If You Want Some Variety in Your Pancakes, This is the Place To Go!

By Bzoo2013 |

Interesting, fun, and tasty variety of pancake and other breakfast offerings. Casual setting, efficient staff, large servings, and good food make this a nice breakfast restaurant to visit. Will definitely go here again when next in Atlanta!

Good food -- Worth the Wait?

By Ken K |

This is first visit to the OPH on Cheshire Bridge Road in a decade. Perhaps it's not always this busy at 1 pm lunch time, but on a recent Saturday the small lobby was jammed with people and others were standing outside. Their food is very good but after investing 20 minutes in line I went the full half hour. Saw huge pancakes go by with fresh strawberries, steak and eggs, etc. My pecan pancakes were good and in addition to syrup they served a tasty tropical sauce that was also delicious on the pancakes.

Good breakfast place

By WeHoTom |

Large menu with a lot of varied items. Great for all and families after church or other morning events. Only open for breakfast.

Wonderful Breakfast

By Earl H |

A good start to a mid morning breakfast with banana's, strawberries, and whipped cream. I also had eggs, cheese grits, and pork chops. It was much better at the table than reading it on the menu. The server was amazing, I could not have asked for a better time.

Best omelettes!

By Rwarren4577 |

Love this place! Omelettes are incredible. A great breakfast. Thick cut bacon and amazing hash browns.

Great Variety

By Marcia M |

This place has all types of pancakes. I had the Georgia Pecan, which comes with a special orange coconut syrup, yummy! There were 6 in our party and everyone enjoyed their meals. The service was fast and the waiter was very friendly and efficient. I recommend going here for a delicious breakfast.

One of my favorite breakfast spots in Atlanta

By chuck f |

Love this place for breakfast. The pancakes are fantastic. They whip their own butter every day and the pancake and breakfast portions are huge. We usually split a meal. Love the bacon. Get there early because it gets pretty crowded on the weekends.

Best Pancakes in Atlanta

By bigjake1026 |

Love love love the pancakes! Every type I have tried is delicious! Last trip I tried the dutch baby, and it certainly did not disappoint. They have a VERY wide variety of different pancakes, and of course most other breakfast foods. Definitely something for everyone. Warm and friendly diner kind of atmosphere. All the servers are very attentive and make you feel like a regular. Prices are reasonable. If you go too late in the morning, expect a long wait! But definitely worth it. I just wish they were open for dinner, who doesnt love breakfast for dinner.

Volume not quality

By JAH |

This ia a high traffic restaurant that specializes more in the volume of food than in quality. You'll get great portion sizes. It seemed to be a local favorite but my experience wasn't good. In my opinion IHOP is better as far as quality.

The best breakfasts!

By Hans Meyer |

We have eaten at OPH restaurants throughout the South and Northwest, and this location is like all the rest: Delicious! Just be sure to order a "half stack," unless you're really, really hungry.

Great breakfast food!

By ckpjep |

Consistently great food, large portions, and fun diner atmosphere! My daughter and I love the strawberry waffles and strawberry crepes. Mounds of fresh strawberries and whipped cream! The bacon is thick, crispy, and yummy! Omelets are huge!

Awesome breakfast and a must visit!

By Mevans251 |

If you are ever in Atlanta and are hungry for breakfast this is the place! We called ahead and received a number and upon arrival we waited a brief period of time before seated. Our waiter was awesome and remembered everything we ordered by memory. Upon receiving our food everything was cooked as expected. The corn beef and hash was amazing and I had pumpkin pancakes that were very delicious. I give this place and A+ across-the-board very very good food!

A Taste of Chicago

By Yvette C |

Yummy pancakes and crepes! The servers make you feel right at home. The prices are reasonable and the portions are filling.

Gross

By Josey Wales |

The place was dirty... floors were sticky, baseboards were filthy, booths were dirty. My pancakes came out smelling like bleach and chemicals. Just to confirm, I immediately paid and left. Got the pancakes to go and smelled them outside. Definitely bleach and chemicals. Gross.

Great Brunch!

By Jeremy C |

Yes, its crowded on a Sunday morning, but I can't think of a better place for an informal, delicious, and comfortable brunch. The omelettes were light and fluffy, the pancakes were delicious, and the service attentive. Reasonably priced with good sized servings as well.

Great Food! You must go there!

By Jeepmom59 |

We went on Valentine's Day and the place was packed. I had the Strawberry Crepes and they were delicious. My husband had a regular breakfast. It was all good. The bacon was thick and the coffee had real cream. I will go again! I want to try the omelet and potato pancakes. However, the crepes were so good, I may have to get an order of them to go!

Great apple pancake but

By Peg O |

I loved my apple pancake, but my partner wasn't impressed with the coconut pancake and the potatoes were only OK. Sausage patties were good. We had to ask three times for coffee before it arrived.

Good food; Good service

By robinwil1949 |

Always promptly seated. Servers are all very personable and prompt with food. Special requests are handled pleasantly and they are delivered as requested. Excellent coffee and light, fluffy pancakes and really good bacon,

Great food great service

By Sandra B |

We had a 15 minute wait on Saturday but it was well worth it. Grace was our server. Very efficient and nice. I had the Dutch baby with the powder sugar on the side. Omg....delish. I ordered 2 over medium eggs and they were cooked to perfection. Almost like they were basted eggs. Nice runny yokes. He had the scrambled eggs with ham. Also wonderful.

Bland Expensive Food

By Tracy L |

I wish I had checked the reviews before we decided on this place for breakfast. The prices are super expensive and the pancakes have an odd taste or maybe in was the syrup but it tasted synthetic...I know it is odd. I had the omelette and it lacked flavor and the bacon looked good but nothing special. It was thick cut but almost like bacon/ham flavor. I won’t give this place a second chance due to the expensive prices. Two adults, 2 meals-our food was $45.00 not including tip. To drink, I had water and my spouse had cranberry juice.

Breakfast comfort food

By William T |

OPH serves up some amazing breakfast comfort food. I usually stick to the basics like bacon and eggs with a side of pancakes, or my favorite, a half order of banana pancakes with a half order of thick sliced bacon. But you need to checkout some of the eye-popping signature items, too, like the Dutch Baby or the baked omelets, puffed up higher than a beehive hairdo. There’s always a wait on the weekend, even if you get there early, but the line moves quickly so don’t be put off if you see people spilling into the parking lot. If you’re a single or a couple consider eating at the counter. The chairs may be a little wobbly but you’ll probably get seated immediately.

Yep...it's a winner!

By BethSJ |

We ate at the Lavista Road location in Atlanta...it was great! Very busy but the line moved quickly. We were able to get a seat at the first come first serve bar though, so that was even better. The greeter was exceptionally nice as well as our waitress...very personable and made our experience even better! The food was excellent...from the bacon to the blueberry pancakes!

Great way to start your day

By K-nine9 |

Great pancakes, of course, but also delicious bacon and wonderful well prepared eggs. But as good as the food is it was topped by the service.

Not all breakfast items are listed on their menu

By Burke L |

They have good fluffy omletes. Unfortunately NOT all of the items that they serve are not listed on their menu.

Worth going out for breakfast

By doobiepapa |

This is a GREAT place for breakfast. Though the years, Pancake House has provided great breakfast experiences. The omelets are wonderful, and the bacon is great. My wife accurately summed up our recent visit: it wasn't good; it was Great!

We eat at all types, but this is my favorite!

By escapeartist22 |

I love breakfast food, and we eat out at all types of restaurants from fast food to diners to high end fine dining, but of them all, this is the one I truly enjoy the most. Just a typical little breakfast diner - don't expect anything fancy, but if you like breakfast food, you will be back for more! My husband loves the apple pancake and the dutch baby- both of which take about 30 minutes to get, but my favorite is a bowl of berries and bananas with their real whipped cream for dipping, the applewood smoked thick cut bacon, and the huge slices of absolutely mouthwatering french toast with some warm maple syrup. They have some really great buckwheat pancakes and fabulous orange juice. We love their coffee so much we buy bags of it for our office. When my husband wants to know where I want to go for any special occasion, this is the place he knows I will pick. We check out an arty movie at the Tara theatre in the same shopping center after our late morning/early afternoon breakfast and make a nice day of it. Unfortunately, they close around 2-3PM most days......so make it there in time to enjoy. Have also been to the Original Pancake house in Ft. Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Scottsdale, and Stone Mountain (that's how much I love this place), but this one is the best!

Quick Breakfast

By Ntrekker |

We were on the hunt for a quick breakfast before our drive to Macon from Atlanta. This fit the bill. The decor is a bit old but we were attended to right away and food was good comfort food. The orange juice didn’t taste like it was freshly squeezed though. Good for a auick meal. We had the bacon lovers breakfast and a small pecan pancake stack.

Great food, good atmosphere

By mzfarrow14 |

One of the best breakfast places I’ve been too in some time! Healthy choices, and the omelettes....AMAZING! You get what you pay for. Make your reservations on YELP to cut the wait time.

Quality Food in a Diner

By Carol P |

We had breakfast the the Original Pancake House in Atlanta on two occasions. This is not a trendy place or one you would visit for "atmosphere." It is a diner with very good simple food. Coffee is good and you can add REAL cream to it. If you order bacon, you will be served four thick delicious slices. Pancakes were tasty and you can get every type or topping you can think of. They also serve crepes and omelets. Service was always good and your coffee cup is never allowed to get empty.

Best Breakfast in Atlanta

By Mevans251 |

My wife and I recently visited this location on a weekend getaway to Atlanta and absolutely fell in love. They have the best corned beef and hash and the crapes are amazing. Ask for Darrell, he is a wonderful waiter! The menu has lots to choose from and you will not be disappointed!

Wonderful Breakfast

By dcarson4 |

We've been here a couple of times now and love it. Their pancake selection is huge and everything we've tried had been great. The hard part is deciding what to order. We both had eggs and bacon which comes with either 3 buttermilk pancakes or toast. We had the pancakes, of course. The wait can be long especially on the weekends but it's worth it. And if you don't mind eating at the counter you can't get seated pretty quick. Service has always been fast and friendly.

Love their Dutch Apple Pancake. Good place to go for breakfast...

Love their Dutch Apple Pancake. Good place to go for breakfast...

I love the chain, but his one was very disappointing.

By mrbryan |

I have been to Original Pancake House restaurants all over the USA, from Buffalo to Las Vegas to Anaheim, and I have never had such a poor experience as I did here. The staff was friendly enough, but the food was a long time coming, and once it arrived, we wished it had not. Simply put, the pancakes were not good. The 49ers did not seem to be related to the dish served elsewhere. We actually finished up here, and then went elsewhere to look for something to eat.

Delicious!

By Idefinenichelle |

Our waitress' name was "KD".. she was AWESOME! Very friendly and a great server! I had hash with scrambled eggs and pancakes. Literally everything was delicious! I went with 3 other people who raved about the food as well. They give you decent portions too. I would definitely recommend the Original Pancake House!

Food great... service lacking

By Christopher L |

This is a great place for excellent breakfast food but the service has much to be desired. I have taken friends here several times and they have never complained about the food. The servings are large also. Do not eat here if you are short on time or in a hurry. Even if they are not busy they seem to be very slow. Every time... they will take your order when THEY are ready. ...not when you are ready. Refills will come when they are ready. The only reason I come here is because I love the gluten free waffle. I have to really be craving this in order to visit. You be the judge. Rate this place an A on food and give a C- on service.

Nice breakfast

By JCooper44 |

Great menu choices for breakfast. Crepes pancakes & waffles with fresh fruit. Eggs anyway you like them. Lots of sides to choose also.

Top notch breakfast spot

By ddmullis |

I am a regular customer at this location. They serve outstanding food including different varieties of pancakes waffles and omelettes. The service is always fantastic regardless of how busy they may be. I typically prefer to sit at the bar. The coffee is excellent compared to most other breakfast places. I would highly recommend having breakfast at this location.

Customer Service Top Notch

By a b |

First let me say, the 3 stars is based on the food and restaurant. Customer Service would receive 5! The gentleman who waited on our table was superb. My son enjoyed his the interaction the waiter had and accommodating my two year old was very nice. Food: Average at best. Style of omelette was round, it was dry, and ingredient quality was poor. Pancakes were typical taste. I was expecting thin, maybe buttermilk style or even old fashioned diner style. Not at all. Atmosphere: TOO MANY FLIES! I left a bit abruptly, feeling agitated with bugs flying around, hoping my food wouldn’t be touched. Trash needs to be away from tables not next to where were eating. Dry disappointing. Not sure if I’d eat there again.

My worst breakfast by far!

By World Trotter Here and Beyond |

We personally didn’t like the food that we eat in this restaurant. The omelette was dry and pancakes were not at best. I didn’t the chef should change career and re-learn again food presentation and cooking. The ambience was okey but far from other restaurants. They should re-invent to serve good food for the customers!

Yummy

By Kiara E |

We went on a Saturday morning and this place was packed! People were everywhere waiting to get a seat. But thankfully because it was just two of us our wait wasn't very long. The pancakes are pretty good and the cuts of bacon are thick. This is a great place to go if you want a hearty and filling breakfast.

Expensive Lesson learned

By Sightsee03552928679 |

Went and ordered two eggs, sunny side up corn beef hash, and a bacon egg and cheese biscuit was charged $43. I asked the lady why it was so high and she said she did not know how to ring up a bacon egg and cheese biscuit so she rang up everything as a side order. Instead of 5.50 it was almost $12, also the menu represented a price for the eggs and corn beef hash was charged five dollars over menu price for that was instructed to call back and talk to a manager because she didn’t know how to refund money. I have called for three days and no manager seems to ever be there. A gentleman came in after me ordered three bacon egg and cheese biscuits. She was trying to charge him $63. Her name is Grace somebody needs to get her trained before you lose all your business.

Food yes, service ??

By parsonjim |

Food is always good in this chain. Service in this one was not what I expected. Our server did not seem too happy to serve us. I think his name was Ivan. It was hard to get his attention , even though he had to walk within a foot of us. He actually ignored me when I asked a question. Maybe he has hearing problems. Had the service been as good as in other original pancake houses, I would definitely have rated it a 5.

Excellent breakfast spot

By ddmullis |

As a business traveler I am always looking for great spots to host business meetings at breakfast time. This original pancake house always provides great food, great service and good atmosphere for hosting a business meeting. I have never been disappointed in the food or service at this location. I would highly recommend the 49ers flapjacks serve with bacon. They have outstanding coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice

Excellent Breakfast with Great Service

By ddmullis |

Whether it’s solo, family or business this is an excellent place to have breakfast. They use only the freshest ingredients to create wonderful omelettes, pancakes and crepes. The coffee is outstanding here as well along with top not service

They are all good

By John D |

I have been to Original Pancake Houses all over the country, including the original one in Portland, Oregon, and have had good breakfasts in them all. Their menu is almost always the same and it works.. They do serve grits in the south. Of course their signature apple pancake is wonderful and there is nothing wrong with their Swedish pancakes either. The service in Atalnta was especially good.

Excellent variety of breakfast items

By TarHeelLady |

Enjoyed a delicious weekend brunch here with friends. It's a very popular place, so be prepared to wait a bit, but it was worth it. My friend adores buckwheat pancakes, and you can't get those just anywhere. They had several other kinds of pancakes too, and several choices for breakfast meats besides bacon and sausage. My eggs and bacon were cooked just as I asked, and the coffee was great too. On the weekends you can get eggs Benedict, which my other friend loved. The service was friendly and efficient, and even the busboy was friendly!

My tummy was happy - my wallet was not...

By BillMeNot |

My wife and I went here on Monday morning and were seated right away and the waitress was quick to get our drink orders and give us - without having to ask - two glasses of ice water. I don't usually touch the menu at a diner as they always seem to be nasty but I was very impressed at the nice clean and bright menu here. Although it was late morning on a Monday, the place was fairly busy and our waitress was pleasant but not very friendly except to thank us for not complaining about the wait - but I did not notice having to wait. She took our order within a few minutes and we enjoyed our wonderful coffee for another 10 minutes or so until the food arrived. As for the food - WOW. My wife got the pecan pancakes (half order of 3) with FOUR thick pieces of delicious maple bacon. Her breakfast alone would have fed both of us! I got the corned beef hash and eggs with a side of cheese grits. Hash was a good as I have ever had but the "over-easy" eggs were over cooked; looked like the griddle was too hot when they put the eggs on. However, the cheese grits was a huge bowl and had sharp cheddar cheese melted to where there were strings hanging from every spoon full. Just wish they had salted the grits when they cooked them. All and all we were both very satisfied until we got the bill. It was almost $32 with tip and they offered no senior discount. We will be back but only on special occasion breakfasts.

WHAT'S ALL THE FUSS ABOUT?

By SixcDogTeam |

This place was recommended to us, and we lucked out with parking and seating. After we arrived, a one started to form. With all the hoopla I was expecting a fantastic experience. Actually, very average.Service was OK. Cheesy grits were not so good, biscuits and gravy were kind of blah. Pancakes were fine, but not something we will rave about for the next six months. Not cheap, either. Well, it's a popular place, so either people are complacent around here, or there's nothing better...

Don’t even bother…

By Kelli S |

I usually go to the OPH on LaVista and they rock. This place should be closed down. 8 people in party, 2 correct orders, waited an hour for my scrambled eggs and sausage…cold when I got them. Hollandaise sauce was chunky and gelatinous. Staff… pathetic. How is this POS still open. Oh and to top it all off, $10 to park. It was an expensive lesson.

Breakfast of kings

By Mike S |

OPH is a treat for us. We live nearby but make an occasion of going for breakfast here. Love to bring friends with us. And we have met the nicest people here.

A winner, Original Pancake House

By keepemflyin |

Experience with "Original Pancake" at other locations. This was perhaps the best we have experienced. Waited minutes, were seated and a waiter took our order. Excellent quality and prompt service. Had not been to this area previously, but will make a point of returning. Great dining.

STILL THE SAME

By SixcDogTeam |

EVERY time we come to Atlanta we get dragged her for brunch. It's a popular place, people love it. For me, there's nothing special--a pancake's a pancake--is that heretical? They DO have very interesting toppings for them, I have to admit that. And theyDO have real maple syrup on request. And they DO fill your coffee cup after every gulp you take... Everybody seems to like it, and I have no problem with that, as long as I don't have to go WAY out of my way to get here. And I can stand the wait if I have to.I just don't think it's all that SPECIAL. But I could be wrong. I was wrong once before, I think. Or maybe not.

WARNING. EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE SMALL PORTIONS

By ddmullis |

As someone who has eaten here for the past 10+ years, it saddens me that what was once such a great place for breakfast is no longer. Since new ownership took over they have been drastically increasing prices and reducing portion sizes On my most recent visit. I ordered 4 small potato pancakes, 4 strips of bacon and coffee. I was shocked when I got my check and it was $19.23 before tip. I felt I had been robbed given that I left hungry If their goal was to get rid of their loyal customers, they can deem success as I don’t plan to return

unreliable with hours of operation

By babsorama6688 |

Until recently, I was a loyal customer. Nice omelet, thick bacon, strawberries and cream, potato pancakes. A few days, I made the fifteen minute drive to eat, arriving during posted hours. The doors were locked. Someone eventually came from the counter to say, with a smirk on his face, that they were closing early for the day. Then a little shrug of the shoulders. I will never eat there again.

Always excellent!

By Julie C |

I have never been disappointed at an Original House of Pancakes. The ingredients are fresh which makes the food tasty. The breakfast usually keeps me full for most of the day. The waitstaff is always personable and attentive. I just wish there were more OHOPs!!

Disappointed

By Lladnar |

We hadn't been to the Original Pancake House in years... now I remember why. The place is really run down. Upholstery on seats ripped and splitting, floor tiles missing and cracked, ceiling tiles dirty and stained from previous leaks, etc. Way over priced for breakfast items. Pros: coffee is really good. Yes, it's been around for a very long time, but the current management obviously isn't interested in the guest experience.

After meeting

By tww7374 |

Asked staff at the office I was visiting for recommendation. This was consensus. Must say excellent choice. Great comfort food, lots of choices ample serving reasonable prices. Enjoyable experience. My kind of place.
