Ok breakfast

By sem2048 |

Stopped here for breakfast with a colleague whilst away with work. I ordered scrambled eggs with a choice of 4 ingredients to fill with, this was tasty but the portion size was just ridiculous. The pancakes were also good, I ordered a large OJ to drink which was about $4.50 but I was disappointed when it arrived, it was in the smallest glass ever! Wouldn’t rush back.

Great service, OK food.

By Hannah P |

This is a really cute, authentic feeling American breakfast spot. We had an amazing, attentive waitress named Tonia who really made our experience great. However, the food was ok at best and extremely expensive. I ended up paying $15 for a couple of eggs, pancakes and bacon. Expensive even when I'm used to London prices! One of the staff members at the till was also pretty unfriendly to on of our group when trying to work out tipping. Mixed feelings.

Old school and fun

By Traveling Coach |

On a recent trip to Chicago we were in the mood for a large, late breakfast. The Original Pancake House was recommended and it was a nice experience. It is small so we had to wait for a table. It was still crowded at 100 PM. Tables are close together so if you are claustrophobic you best not try this one. We shared a table with another couple at the other end and it was fine. The coffee mug is never empty but the service was a little slow, which we could understand because it was so crowded. We ordered omelettes, one mushroom and one with bacon, sausage, cheese and onions. They use 4 eggs each so they are huge portions. Neither of us could finish our omelettes but I did manage to eat a couple of pancakes. Overall, it was a nice, old school pancake house environment. And in spite of the busy setting most of the diners seemed satisfied and I am certain no one left hungry. We'll do this again on our next trip to Chicago but be prepared to walk at least a couple miles to help digest your large meal.

Not far from Mag Mile!

By adadd0 |

Our hotel, off Delaware, was just a few blocks away from the restaurant, so it was convenient to walk over for breakfast! On Saturday, we delayed getting there and the line up was long, so we ate next door. We made sure to arrive early on Sunday (by 9:00 a.m.) and beat the crowd. Lots of choices, their specialty was a giant apple confection which we did not take. Bright place, full of locals and tourists alike. Outdoor terrace available with warmer weather. Pleasant and efficient staff! Cute white building, you can't miss it!

Great Food and Service at the Original Pancake House!

By Michael S |

My gf and I stayed across the street at the Thompson and 3 out 4 days we came here for breakfast! The coffee is exceptional, and the service was super-fast We split breakfast because the helping was enormous! She loved it and I loved it. Made the trip having it right across from the hotel. Hope to come back someday! You'll love it!

Yum!

By TrixieJones |

It's a great little place for breakfast. We ate there three days in a row. Every meal was delicious. The portions are plentiful. The staff was friendly, if a little harried (it was VERY busy) but never made you feel as if you were in the way. They managed to still make you feel welcomed and answered all questions without seeming to be busy. For a place as busy as this one, the staff still managed to deliver hot, fresh food in a timely manner. I highly recommend this one!

Yummy!

By Karen |

My favorite breakfast place in town! The staff is super friendly (especially José) and their food is amazing. The pancakes are as fluffy as they can be. If the weather's nice make sure to get a table outside.

Long lines but move fast as the service is fast and good.

By Nicholas S |

It is your breakfast stop when in Chicago, good selection and fast service. French toast is good and selection of different pancakes are equally as good. The tables are cramped but this is what gives it the all American Pancake House feel.

Amazing breakfast

By Tracy G |

Walked about a block and a half to this breakfast place that had been recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! Had the crepes, even though I have had French crepes, and they were very good. Service was fast and efficient, food and coffee was excellent, perfect for breakfast!!

Great pancakes

By John D |

Great menu and great service . Friendly staff . Amazing menu every possible type of pancakes available

Great little find

By Neil C |

If your hungry and want a good feed this is the place to go. We went on a Thursday morning and the place was busy, which is always a good sign, the only problem I encountered was choosing what to eat. I opted for the crepes with fresh strawberries, there were that many strawberries that I just couldn’t physically eat the all. The coffee and juice were really tasty. The staff were exceptional and worked really hard. Small venue, don’t be put off when you see it.

The International House of Pancakes is the best franchise

By Voyager09728559814 |

The International House of Pancakes is the original and best franchise… Recently, I went to the original house of pancake 10437 western ave chgo, il. Waiter ivan h., owner charles wagner, jesus rivera, and shelley overcharged my bank card which promoted me to file “theft by taking,” with the BBB, Attorney General’s office and in court.

Fantastic pancakes

By BillyS002 |

We had breakfast here but had to wait to get a table. We thought that if you have to wait it must be good. It is excellent. The service is quick and our waitress Leah was very friendly and efficient. The food is very good and the portions are huge. Highly recommended.

Great breakfast place!

By Brandon Z |

Great breakfast place! We were staying across the street and on a Sunday breakfast started too late so we went across the street early. There was a short wait at 8 am. We got seated and served right away and food was quick. Blueberry pancakes were good and my wife likes her sausage and eggs but said it was a bit too greasy. The staff were friendly and attentive. Paying was super easy with paying up at the front.

Generous portions.

By VKB |

Had breakfast on a Saturday around 9:45am. Seated right away but it was busy and when we left, there was a line up to get in. The blueberry pancakes were very good as well as the corned beef egg plate. I liked the coffee.

Great Place

By Chris I |

My experience was all the others. There was a line, but it moved quickly. The food and coffee were excellent and rhe portions large. The service was great.

What a brilliant find!

By Royal_h29 |

What a brilliant find. The breakfast choice is brilliant and the service even better. The pancakes are very light and fluffy! Would definitely return!

Good

By 2Trav3lers |

The place is really nice and kind of antique. Apple pancake is good but tasted more of a dutch pancake with caramelized apples. It is super sweet and portions are big. The casserole was tasty and the coffee fine. Overall good experience!

Outstanding

By winks1996 |

We had a wonderful breakfast sitting outside. Eggs Benedict and pancakes were the best. Really nice area.

Good, comfortable breakfast

By Kent Friel |

Original Pancake House was across street from hotel. Doesn’t seem like a chain restaurant. Good service. Well prepared breakfast. Comfortable.

Great bfast, try the skillets!

By Sergio C |

Been here several times. My place to go when in Chicago Gold Coast, love the skillets. Try the one with chorizo, it’s amazing. Have tried the waffles and pancakes, everything’s great! Haven’t tried the huge apple pancakes but someday will.

Delicious and cozy

By sfdann |

Gosh the food here is first rate. And this is a charming, small dining room. We came on the weekday and there was no wait at all. Waitress was a little rushed and impersonal. Then they sat a woman at our table (a long table) and I'm pretty sure she was homeless. I'm not against homeless people eating in a restaurant whatsoever - but she was crying and singing to herself and staring at me throughout breakfast so this was more than uncomfortable They could have (and should have) seated her at her own table (there were many empty tables). But Chicago has a tension between the well off (in this Oak St area neigbhorhood) and the very poor - and they come into contact with each other daily. Management can be more careful.

Classic Breakfast

By lisavY4987SY |

Great local spot to have a breakfast. We ate their while staying across the street at the Thompson. We ordered a vegetarian skillet that came with pancakes. It was more than enough for two of us to share. I would recommend as a great casual spot for breakfast in the city. Staff was pleasant.

Perfect breakfast.

By dgbenge |

Great food. Huge omelette. Great tasting pancakes. $15 for meat lovers omelette and three pancakes. In the heart of high end shopping district.

Fast and tasty

By Bissy2002 |

Went for breakfast, waited 2-3 minutes for a table and was served quickly and pleasantly. Had some special requests who was accomodated without any trouble. Go here for not only a great pancake, but for tasty fruit, good coffee and a pleasant experience!

Great Experience

By Adam R |

Very satisfied. I ate here as a tourist from the UK on the last day of my holiday. I really wish I'd visited earlier as I would have visited more frequently and avoided some of the disappointing experiences I'd had at some other eateries in Chicago. Food was very nice and the staff were very friendly, attentive and patient, answering all my questions about what the food comes with. I'd certainly visit again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Coffee refills are a big plus and the coffee is actually nice unlike other places I went to locally during my stay. Situated in a nice area, too. Special mention to our waitress who was so nice.

Across the street from Thompson Hotel

By Roy P |

We ate here twice during our stay at the Thompson. We were very pleased across the board with this place. Service was excellent and food was very good and plentiful. They have a large menu of breakfast items to fit almost any pallet. Food both times came out quick and very hot which is hard to do with breakfast. We would go here again without any hesitation.

Great place for breakfast

By Nika J |

Very cosy atmosphere, very "homey". They have good service, also very quicks. Big portions so it's easy to share, varied menu, etc. I really have no complaints.

Becoming regulars!

By Hedera |

Quick, friendly service and a chill atmosphere. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy. They gave my partner a free large coffee to go. We go once a week because their menu is so big, and it’s hard to make a choice.

Popular Spot Arrive Early and Enjoy

By Mark S |

A very popular breakfast restaurant in the Gold Coast area. If you don’t want to wait, arrive before 8 am, especially on the weekends. Offers both indoor and outdoor dining. We had tried to visit over the weekend but didn’t arrive until after 8 am and the wait was too long as we had planned morning walking tours. Monday we arrived at 7:50 am and we were immediately seated outside, which was our choice. The service was fast, responsive and pleasant. We shared the buttermilk pancakes, French Toast and a skillet with potatoes and eggs… all excellent. My son kept eyeing the Dutch Treat which the table next to us were enjoying. Recommend to everyone… you will not be disappointed.

Hits the spot

By tinkers234 |

We ate here a couple of times for a late breakfast. It is an old fashioned place. Very busy but queue moves quickly. Portions are large, service is efficient and food very good. More ambient if you get a table outside.

Yummy and lots of food!

By jolyns712 |

My family had breakfast there twice while we were in Chicago! Once did takeout as we were staying right across the street! Pancakes are yummy and portions are quite large! Service was quick and friendly! I would definitely go back!

Big Portions for Big Appetites

By lwsara |

Food stuff - anything you can dream up for breakfast, they have. The Dutch Apple Pancake was gigantic and loaded with calories. Service was very good and the place was immaculately clean. If you plan on eating big, give it a try.

Great Food/ Manager needs improvement

By Timothy Lee |

Food was delicious as usual, however, the manager named Gary needs to work on his customer service skills. Customers want to feel appreciated. He is so disconnected at checkout. Hopefully he will improve in that area!

Pancakes--and other tasty breakfast items

By Taylor B |

Original Pancake House, not to be confused with International House of Pancakes (IHOP), is a chain mostly noted for its signature pancakes. To make its own pancakes, owners use 93 score butter, pure 36 percent whipping cream, fresh Grade AA eggs, hard wheat unbleached flour and OPH's own recipe for sourdough starter. Nobody does it better. But my wife and I aren't pancake people. So whenever we visit the OPH at 22 East Bellevue Place in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, at Rush, next to Tavern on Rush, my wife usually orders a Belgian waffle topped with strawberries, whipped cream and powdered sugar with home-made strawberry syrup. I usually order old-fashioned oatmeal with raisins and pecans, whipping cream and brown sugar and Eggs Benedict with poached eggs, English muffin, hickory smoked Canadian bacon and home-made hollandaise sauce served with potato pancakes and sour cream or corned beef hash and eggs, a house-made blend of freshly ground corned beef with potatoes and onions, two scrambled eggs, three buttermilk pancakes and four links of pork sausage. With a large glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Founded in 1953 in Portland, Oregon, Original Pancake House has grown to 150 locations, including four in Chicago and 11 in the Chicago suburbs. Pancake lovers covet OPH's original specialties, apple pancake with fresh sliced Granny Smith apples and pure cinnamon sugar glaze; Dutch Baby, a German pancake served with lemon, whipped butter and powered sugar; and Dutch Treat, a Dutch Baby pancake filled with strawberries and bananas, dusted with powdered sugar and served with home-made strawberry syrup. The OPH at 22 East Bellevue Place is open from 6:30 to 3 Monday through Friday and 6:30 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday.

Excellent!

By sylvain2308 |

Excellent pancakes. Welcoming, smiling, efficient pleasant setting. A good address for a hearty breakfast. Price in relation.

Delicious Pancakes

By John D |

All the food was delicious. I can’t complain. The coffee was good. The sausage was good. The bacon was excellent. The toast was a little thin but very tasty. The eggs were nicely done. The pancakes were simply delicious. The waffle was excellent but got soggy quickly with the toppings on it so don’t let it sit. The next time we come we will have to try their omelette because it was huge and looked delicious

Huge portions!

By Melanie M |

My family and I visited this restaurant on our first day in Chicago. It was a short walk from our hotel and the reviews looked good. The food is delicious. We returned for breakfast for the remaining days of our holiday! Big portions, my son ordered the buttermilk pancakes 3 days in a row, loved them. My husbsnd and I tried different items each day and were never disappointed. It is a busy place but we never had to wait for a table. Cozy, friendly and good, filling food. Highly recommend.

A classic Chicago brunch diner

By Lora D |

Great place to grab an omlete or pancakes, of course! I love their hash browns, and they have great coffee. It's a convenient location, and it feels less touristy than other options in the area.

Have loved this classic place or many years

By cornwall90 |

Amazing pancake house! Plus eggs. Plus servers who are friendly despite the crowds. I used to make pilgrimages here when in Chicago on business; i recently returned and it is a good as ever. Don't miss the thin swedish pancakes w lingonberries.

they lost a big fan

By WaterEnthusiasts |

A long-time fan of this location and others, I had not been to Chicago in a while. The server was polite and the food was normal OPH fare, which we like. But there was some disconnect between the server and the kitchen. We sat for quite a while, and not at a busy time; the restaurant was mostly empty. Dishes dribbled out, one at a time. When the check arrived, I saw that the requested items had been rung up as side dishes, and the price seemed to add up to more than if the server had entered items in combination to make a meal (or had at least suggested that.) Eggs and pancakes are pretty simple foods, and they become cold and unappetizing pretty quickly, so effective service is valuable. I am no longer eager to return.

Perfect breakfast

By atjtetmt |

We partied the night before and planned on going to a fancier place for brunch, but we just wanted a good diner type breakfast. This hit the spot. All 3 of us ordered different things and we all loved it. The prices were reasonable for the amount of food you get.

Holy Moly! Best Breakfast EVER!

By DianaSt_13 |

Ridiculously good breakfast! Everything about this place is awesome. Not only is the food great, but the wait staff are outstanding. This is one busy place, but don't be scared by the long lines. The food is served so fast, and since it's breakfast people don't really linger, so that you really aren't waiting all that long. And believe me, it's worth the wait!

Great breakfast - popular spot!

By Winterbon |

Stopped by for breakfast on a beautiful Sunday morning and sat on the sidewalk cafe area. Fast and friendly service, and food was wonderful.

Delicious breakfast with my family

By Micha_K |

First morning in Chicago started really delicious at the Pancake House. We had two times the original Pancake (one time with blueberry and the other one with strawberries and cream) and a vegetarian omelette with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and cheese, toast on side. Fresh squeezed orange juice......and a really friendly waitress. If you stay in Chicago.....take breakfast at the “Original Pancake House”.

Delish

By beach lover |

We had breakfast here before heading out to museums for the day. I wanted something healthy, but also wanted to try the pancakes. They had a perfect option on the menu. I had an egg white omelet with tons of veggies, and 3 pancakes on the side. My son could not decide between the bacon waffle and the blueberry waffle so he got a bacon waffle with blueberries on top and it was spectacular. The service was quick and friendly. The price was not bad considering the location. We would definitely go back 🥞

Really good

By Kasper Christensen |

As a tourist in US you need to try pancakes and waffles as breakfast. This place is really good. Huge portions, that easily can be shared by two.

Love the Bar!!!

By Newsom |

My husband and I enjoy the neighborhood bar setup beside the restaurant. The bartender Tony is super friendly and makes an amazing Dirty Martini. They have happy hour Thursday-Sunday 3-6p and great appetizers to go with.

Great food

By Rod P |

We thought that we would give this a try as we have never been to a OPH. Everyone in our party ordered a different menu item. Our food arrived at the table very quickly. The buttermilk pancakes were scrumptious! No one was disappointed in their selection. Our server Vanessa keep our coffee mugs filled and provided excellent service. She had a great personality and made our visit very pleasurable. We will definitely return to this location.

Great food and service as always.

By Michael G |

My mom and I rode the bus from our hotel to this eatery, as we had at some of its other locations in Colorado and Florida and always had a great experience. In any event, this location was just a good. I ordered the apple waffle with a side of scrambled eggs. The waffle was golden brown, crispy, and loaded with lots of apples. My mom had the pigs in a blanket with a side of hash browns (home fries) and her food was just a good. Everything at this location was very good, such that I took my dad for breakfast a few days later. His omelet was over-the-top good, but almost too big to finish.

Great pancake house if you can stand the wait to get in.

By Mikesalter |

Came here with family for Saturday morning breakfast. We had to queue for about 20 mins, it was a queue that never died down while we were in there. All freindly and very obliging. I had ham and eggs, it came with 3 pancakes which they upped to pineapple. Overall a typical American breakfast house done very well at sensible prices, particularly for viagra triangle. Can recommend waiting if you have to.

The Original is still a hit

By Terry L |

Our family visit to this busy Original Pancake House was spot on. Our server promptly brought drinks and took our order. We were correctly told that our order would take 20 minutes. My Dutch baby was perfect with powdered sugar and lemon making each bite tasty. Others enjoyed omelets and the egg white scramble. Toast or pancakes accompanied all egg entrees. The place was quite busy yet servers were pleasant and polite.

Fantastic Breakfast Spot In The Heart Of Chicago's Rush Street Area. Unrivaled! Great Coffee ! Amazing Food ! Worth Waiting In Line For !

Old style breakfast haunt

By TravellingH0pefully |

I thought this was going to be ordinary at best but the breakfast was good and the service Beyond expectations. Wonderful choice.

Great brunch!

By vaca4aday |

Outstanding strawberry French toast! Yummy skillet-turkey sausage was great. Everything tasted better than a typical breakfast place-not sure what their secret is. Great fast, friendly service too!

Chicago and Pancakes

By Joriz1015 |

Everytime I come to Chicago I have to go to the International Pancake House. I have enjoyed the waffles, crepes and the pancakes. I learned about this from a friend who is from Chicago.

Who needs pancakes?

By Taylor B |

Imagine going to an Original Pancake House and not ordering pancakes. After all, this is an international chain that prides itself on pancakes. That's why the name is on the marquee. Founded in 1953, the Original Pancake House has grown to 130 locations worldwide, including five in the Chicago area. It has earned awards such as "Best Breakfast" and "No. 1 in family dining" and "Top 10 pancake restaurant in the nation." Fortunately, one of those locations is in our Gold Coast neighborhood. Located at 22 East Bellevue Place, at Rush Street, next to Tavern on Rush, it is open from 7 to 3 Monday through Friday and 7 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday. My wife and I aren't into pancakes. My wife prefers Belgian waffles. I always order Eggs Benedict or corned beef hash. We are never disappointed. The Original Pancake House knows how to satisfy its customers. My wife's Belgian waffle features fresh strawberries, whipped cream, powdered sugar and home-made strawberry syrup. With a side of two pork sausage patties and a glass of apple juice. My Eggs Benedict feature hickory smoked Canadian bacon, home-made hollandaise sauce, a golden toasted English muffin and two poached eggs with potato pancakes and sour cream and four pork sausage links. With a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. The corned beef hash with two scrambled eggs, potatoes and onions makes for a refreshing change of pace.

Exellent breakfast restaurant

By ASpitz |

Exellent restaurant for breakfast. Large menu with typical american items. Very nice outside seatingspace available.

Fantastic food!

By Stacie M |

I had the strawberry waffle and it was so good. Fresh strawberries, real whipped cream and it was huge!!

Overrated

By aspiremetro |

Not sure what is going on with all the great reviews. Can’t taste a difference between their pancakes and IHOP’s.

Great breakfast and fast service!

By Jane S |

We stayed across the street at the Thompson. This place is always busy, but the lines move rather quickly. Our breakfasts were delicious and reasonably priced for the area. Our server was very friendly, efficient, and attentive.

Have breakfast at a Chicago classic

By tripecab |

We were having breakfast here in November 2023. Good service and quality. We had scrambled eggs with toast, chocolate pancakes, a bowl of fruit, a juice and coffee for $52

High quality informal breakfast

By jishenker |

Great service with informal house like feel and great breakfast food, superior quality close to the original OPH in Portland Oregon. This one is near Uber popular Rush street and across the street from the Thompson hotel.

World's Best Pancakes!!!

By Steven A. |

Always a line to get in, but always worth it! The pancakes are the best I have ever eaten, they are so light and fluffy. They have a huge selection, almost anything you could want for breakfast - they have it on the menu! Everything is delicious. There is both indoor and outdoor dining. It is not a large place, but always crowded! You usually don't have to wait too long, but so worth it.

Great service and breakfasts

By Mikey |

Great pancakes here. Our favorite place for breakfast in Chicago. Extensive menu and great service . Friendly staff . Amazing menu with every possible type of pancakes available. Good coffee.

The Best Breakfast Ever!!

By scattycat30 |

This was within walking distance of our hotel so we decided to give it a try. The first time we didn't have to wait long as got there quite early but the next couple of times we had to queue for a while - we went every day we were in Chicago so it was worth the wait. The servers are polite & friendly and there isn't a long wait to get served. The food here is amazing and the portions are huuuuge!!! We both had skillets and they were so tasty. We also tried the pancakes which were delicious. Would highly recommend and will be back when I next go to Chicago

A throwback to a simpler time

By Tdredbone |

We came here for breakfast during our stay and are hooked. On our first stay we had a junior breakfast just to check out the place. The pancakes were fluffy and the coffee was nice and strong. On our second visit we ordered a steak omelet and the southwestern skillet. Again delicious. The salsa tastes like homemade with fresh cilantro. In all, fresh ingredients and superb service. Like the family style seating, too.

My most favorite pancake place in Chicago

By Sophia K |

My husband and I often have breakfast here during the weekend. There are many pancake places in Chicago, but this place provides a wide range of simple and tasty dishes (e.g., "Bacon and Eggs" with thick sliced bacon and two large fresh eggs served any style; I love the buckwheat pancake here). We usually have to wait in line after 9am during the weekend, but it is not that bad as tables will be ready quickly. Highly recommended.

We love American Pancakes

By Peter1Northampton |

A nice exterior facade gives way to a standard diner lay out inside. But ultimately they serve the best variety of breakfast food and pancakes you get anywhere. The service was good the pancakes amazing and worth the trip to find this place out. Between 7-8am on a week day we found it busy but easy enough to get seated.

What I needed at that moment

By danjwalker1980 |

The food is what what you'd expect from a good diner. The coffee took me by surprise. It was some of the best I've ever had. The seating was a bit awkward. They sat me between two groups of people. I made a joke that I asked to be squeezed into the fray and that loosened everyone up. Overall, good experience.

Automatic First Day In Chicago Breakfast

By rreishman |

Every year we visit Chicago as a prelude to a Notre Dame Football game and our first stop after dropping off our luggage is The Original Pancake House. The place is great as is the food and service. This last time was my first ever disappointment. The corn-beef hash with eggs on top is one of my all time favorites however this time the hash was only warm and without any crust on top. I still heartily recommend the place but send you hash back if not hot and crusty. The pancakes and waffles are something special.

Best place for breakfast!

By BrowneL |

So good, we ate there every morning of our 3 day trip to Chicago! The fresh orange juice was gorgeous and so refreshing. Second day, himself had the apple pancake, it takes 20mins but is so worth it. Everything we ate was lovely, service good too. Bit busier on Saturday morning so expect a queue but it moved relatively quickly. Highly recommend the place.

best pancakes in the city

By lisa35805 |

we love coming here for breakfast, it's so yummy! try the 49er pancakes but even the coffee is excellent!

22nd anniversary mistake

By Kelly T |

Served us with no good morning, no smile, forgot half my order and had to wait for half my order because she never realized it . She didn't even bring me the blueberry sryup and my links were raw which she saw and took off the bill. Just horrible service and food

Great Food

By BillCumbee |

Good breakfast that was worth the wait. We liked the great outdoor street seating in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

Now that’s an omelette!

By ua1flyer |

Really was in the mood for blueberry pancakes, but my waistline screamed egg white omelet. Wasn’t disappointed at all. What a great omelette. Veggies ham, the works. Big enough to feed 2-3 people. You won’t go hungry here. Great value and great service! Next time those blueberry pancakes!

Full your stomach here

By Nyphoon966 |

Good place to start your day. Was a bit a waiting line but it moves fast... they have all types of eggs and pancakes also French toast The setting area is a bit small but it is ok ... the outdoor area is nice when the weather is great ...

Best Pancakes in Chicago

By rickyanger |

This is a restaurant favoured by locals being located a short distance away from the tourist area. We visited several times as the food was fantastic, i would go as far to say i had the best pancakes i have ever tasted. A great menu available, in a great atmosphere provided by really friendly owners/staff. The food prices are reasonable which can not be said for a lot eateries in the tourist areas. Go, you will not be disappointed, guaranteed.

OK

By Robert V |

OK food, big portions, high prices. $16-$20 (around $60 for the 2 of us) for pancakes or eggs is expensive given the low food costs. Pet peeve- it is a pancake house but does not have real maple syrup available (even for an upcharge) and hate maple flavored corn syrup.

Hits the spot

By tinkers234 |

We ate here a few times for breakfast. It is an old fashioned place. Very busy but queue moves quickly. Portions are large, service is efficient and food very good.

Believe the hype....

By sandandstars13 |

These were the best pancakes I have every had. ( gluten free ) I heard great things about this place so thought I would check it out. I am so glad I did. Went around 9am and it was packed, but no wait. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. Best breakfast ever. Will be back...again and again.

Big chain with a pleasant small town feeling

By MaumelleJim |

Quickly seated. Service was kind and sufficiently attentive. My breakfast food was very good and hot. Got a coffee carafe and I like that. The seating was close, but nobody was sitting in my lap like some Chicago restaurants. It has the feel of a place some of us grew up in. I like this chain generally and this small version seemed to belong in the neighbor where it sits.

Awesome Breakfast

By Tuba4You |

A real hidden gem! Tucked away in between some beautiful homes, this little eatery is perfect for breakfast. Cute, unassuming, and terrific food and service.

Mag mile breakfast option

By Harald L |

Quite a variety to order from the breakfast menu. Waffles and pancakes very nice. Also the egg dishes we did enjoy. Recommended for families especially. Seating is quite tight and close to each other though.

Grea place for breakfast and lunch

By Alex C |

We always visit the resturant on Diversey, close to our home, the food and service here is exceptional, omelets, crepes and all egg dishes are fresh and wonderful Hopefully you will be lucky to be saved by the wonderful Tamara, she is a true JOY always smiling and terrific. The Pancakes here are light fluffy, my favorite is the Blueberry just great, and another ting you will appreciate is the cleanliness of this restaurant supper clean place!

Get the Apple Pancake - It's worth the wait!

By Karen W |

There's a wait to get in (after a certain time in the morning) and a long wait for items like the Apple Pancake, but for a local like me who sometimes craves this item, I'd recommend it. It's huge and my friend often splits it, but I got my own because it's even better reheated and can feed you for more than one meal. I could see people sitting next to us wishing they had ordered this pancake!

Huge serves!

By Belgo96 |

This was a five minute walk from the Viceroy Hotel where we were staying in the Gold Coast area of Chicago and it was a great breakfast option. We got here 15 minutes after it opened for breakfast and there was already a line of about 10 people in front of us on a Saturday morning. We were told it was a 20 minute wait but were actually seated within about 8 minutes. I like it that they have all the calories listed against each menu item. Although this definitely influenced my choices. I really wanted to try their Dutch Apple House Speciality Pancake but at 1500 calories for a single meal, I couldn't bring myself to do it. The lady sitting next to us had it and it looks fantastic, but probably better to share among two people. I had the lighter option of the Blueberry Pancakes (about 800 calories still!) but they were really good. They were very light and it came with unlimited maple syrup. I really like this place and would definitely return here. They also have lighter options of egg white omelettes if you are dining with someone who is seriously watching their diet.

So many wonderful choices!

We stayed at the Thompson Hotel which was across the street from this restaurant. We have walked by many times and never stopped in but that will change! It was a rather small restaurant and glad there was an empty table. The menu was extensive and it was very hard to choose especially when the server brought the entrees past our table, they all looked delicious and huge portions! My husband ordered the corn beef hash with pancakes and I decided on the Dutch apple pancake. We both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and took half to go. Our server was friendly and very attentive refilling our water glasses. Highly recommend!!

Tasty

By Zee Bee |

Just tasty. A good start in the morning. Big portion for Asian but still ok. Orange juice is nice. Pancake is superb

Hmm ok

By Lisa Schroeder |

Food took 45 min because they gave our food to someone else- didn’t offer any other jelly just the one they gave and it was gross- egg whites had yoke in them I hate the yoke- bread was over buttered and my food was cold due to them given my friends order away- would not go back

There Forever -- For Great Reason

By David A |

I happened upon this place last year, and loved it. Great food, great service. I learned that kids who grew up in the Chicago suburbs were always taken there when in the city for a Cubs game or museum trip. I see why -- terrific breakfast, very family friendly.

If you are tired of the waiting times

By Mike M |

Definitely, if you are tired of the long waiting times at the other popular breakfast restaurants in town, Go Here. It is small, well appointed decor with great breakfasts. You will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is quiet, not at all like the other popular breakfast places. The portions are SUBSTANTIAL. The only one in our family to finish a full plate was our teen age boy. There are lots more dishes to select than just pancakes and the care given to food allergies like gluten free dieters is wonderful. The Gold Coast neighborhood is a lot more desirable place to stay now that we have discovered the Original Pancake House.

Great American Breakfast

By DoCo Tommy |

This awesome little breakfast joint is directly across from the Thompson Hotel. We decided to give it a try although I am not a pancake fan. We had to wait in line. There were about ten people in front of us but we were seated in after a few minutes. The coffee is good. I had a meat lover's skillet and for the first time ever a side of regular pancakes. The skillet was very big and absolutely full of meat! The pancakes were the best I have ever had. You will not leave here hungry. We did not order it but I saw one of those apple pancake dishes go by - it is insanely large - could probably feed three or four. It looked really good. Maybe next time.....

Wow oh Wow oh Wow

By johnj542 |

We were blown away by the pancakes at this place. It DEFINITELY lives up to the hype. Easily the best I've ever had. Their bacon...don't even get me started on how good that is. AND the fresh fruit was some of the best I've seen at a restaurant as well. DEFINITELY give this place a shot! You won't be sad.

Authentic

By mojoman79 |

This is the place that I picture a traditional, American pancake house. Bustling with regulars and out of town’ers. An extensive, flexible menu. Great value for this experience.

Excellent breakfast

By michTI |

A typical place in the United States. Abundant and good breakfast. The prices are honest. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Brilliant breakfast!

By Deirdre W |

Brilliant service, large selection of choices on menu. Staff generally excellent. Very quick service, despite usually being extremely busy. Popular with locals.

An egg white omelette that should be named a soufflé!

By ellecatherine |

Very busy, quaint are of the Gold Coast. The line is worth the wait! Try not to be in. A hurry, enjoy the delicious coffee, food and people watching.

great breakfast

By Connie D |

Finally a great breakfast spot. i had the swedish pancakes and hubby had the southwestern skillet. The portions were generous, service fast and taste was spot on. Will be our go to breakfast spot.

Delicious and affordable

By Courtney G |

My husband and I both got the sausage wrapped in pancakes and it was delicious. A lot of food for not a lot of money. Great spot for breakfast.

Awesome

By Rebann54 |

There's a line to wait for the table, but well worth it! Service is excellent. Coffee is very good and the Belgian waffle excellent. This place is a favorite of ours.

Breakfast

By Natasha W |

This place is amazing. The strawberry French toast is delicious with soooooo many strawberries. We had breakfast here everyday of our Chicago stay. Great value too

Loved this place!

By GRiih |

We stayed two nights at a nearby hotel and loved this place so much that we had breakfast there on both days. There is a great selection and the prices are very reasonable. The food was fresh and tasty, and the portion size was big. Although there was a significant line up on the first day we visited, it moved very quickly. Service on both days was quick and efficient.

Fast and good food

By SeatravelerWA |

One of my favorite places for great pancakes and omelets. Fresh OJ, and really good bacon. Fast service.

Fantastic breakfast

By babyboy7 |

This was my second trip to the Original Pancake House, but it won't be my last. First time I had the cherry crepes. They were delicious. This time my wife and I split the apple pancake. It takes 15 - 20 minutes, but well worth the wait. It was huge. Big enough to share. Full of apples and covered in cinnamon. The fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious as well. I had a side of the chicken and apple sausages. I wish I had a box of these guys to bring home with me. Looking forward to a return trip

Authentic, delicious, perfect breakfast!

By Sophie_ScottJ |

Every time I come to Chicago, I ALWAYS come here for breakfast, no matter how far away the hotel is! I was first staying at the Thompson Hotel across the road when I discovered this hidden gem, and it became my favourite place ever for breakfast! The service is incredible - all the staff are efficient, friendly, and the food is cooked to perfection. There's a huge choice on the menu, so if you're not in the mood for pancakes (which is a rarity), then there's plenty of other things to choose from. The pancakes here are fluffy and delicious, as are the waffles (especially the blueberry waffles)! The drink choice is also excellent, and everything is very reasonably priced. I also absolutely love the authentic and traditional feel to the place - a wooden, old-style type breakfast house, making you feel very cosy and welcomed. I can't wait to come back soon!

Easy Carry-Out

By ace4444 |

We were staying locally and ordered a late breakfast of the Dutch Garden and pumpkin pancakes. Our order was ready when it was supposed to be and we had a generous inclusion of utensils and syrup. Food was very good.

Fluffiest pancakes ever

By Scott S |

We were staying across the street at the Thompson Hotel. Loved the pancakes so much we went twice during our visit. Friendly, efficient service. Strawberry pancakes were amazing, as was the Santa Fe omelet. Portions are huge!

Family friendly with a quick wait time despite line out the door

By BackPacker781683 |

This was my daughter’s highlight of our Chicago trip - she loved the strawberry crepes! Awesome job and wait was less than 10 minutes even though we arrived with the line just starting out the door.

A delight! ❤‿❤

By BABAS76000 |

Charming establishment located in a very friendly area. Early morning the place is already full, proof of quality in the dishes served. Welcome, interesting menu including the Pumpkin Pancakes... excellent! Hot drink served in a nice mug in the colors of the restaurant. The service was friendly and dynamic. Excellent time spent here, a good address in the neighborhood.

As to be expected

By JollapParis |

I had not been to an original pancake house since I was a student in the 80s... somehow missed the atmosphere but I guess the culprit is more my aging than the place and its cuisine. In this instance, i had French toast: acceptable but not outstanding as you can now have in other places

Classic American breakfast in Gold Coast

By JimJanJettin' |

Great breakfast spot located right off Rush Street in Gold Coast. They serve all the classic dishes--pancakes, waffles, skillets, omelets, french toast, etc. My friend and I came in on a Sunday around 11AM and had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, which is not bad at all for brunch in Chicago. The staff was very efficient and the service was quick. The dining room space was tight so we were seated right next to another group at a table for six. OUR FOOD Fresh strawberry Belgium waffle: Fluffy and plenty of strawberries. It also comes with a strawberry syrup that was sweet and flavorful. Bacon pancakes: They are very generous with the bacon crumbles throughout the pancakes. Comes in an order of 3 or 6. Side of hash browns with cheddar cheese: A little different than what I was expecting. They serve potato cubes instead of shredded. Unfortunately, the potatoes were not crispy and were covered in pepper but not enough salt.

RE: Can’t Beat It!

By Wendy Z |

We loved this place! It’s so cool to be walking in the city- surrounded by tall buildings, round the corner and find this cozy little breakfast house. You immediately become part of the neighborhood. You will stand in line but it moves quickly. Seating is tight & if there are two of you it’s likely you’ll be at a community table-so if you like privacy & space this is not the place for you! This being said the atmosphere is fun and the wait staff is excellent. We split an omelette- it was gigantic and delicious. It came with a side of 3 pancakes which were sooo good- light & fluffy. Great breakfast.

Excellent spot for breakfast!

By Liz E |

Superior spot for breakfast that has been here for decades. Fresh food and great staff. Always a line but it moves quickly. Pancakes are unreal. OJ is fresh squeezed. Just spectacular. Awesome location too!

Sooo good

By Parabola |

Loved the OPH in DC so was excited to try the Chicago version and it was just as good and just as busy! Line goes by very quickly, even on a Sunday morning. Service is also quick and good.

Vintage & Delicious

By JourneysFromSeattle |

We could see this old-school pancake house from the window of our room at the trendy Thompson hotel, and decided to have breakfast here instead of at the hotel. The service was friendly, and when you order eggs with your choice of meat, you get three pancakes on the side. Perfect! We loved this blast from the past and would return again.

Hearty breakfasts at reasonable prices

By Nancy O |

We had breakfast here twice on our trip to Chicago. Our party of three adults tried many different breakfast options - eggs/omelets/pancakes/french toast/Dutch baby - -ALL were yummy and delivered with a smile. Even though it was busy each time was visited, the seem to manage it very well and there was never more than a 3 minute wait for a table. Amazing to find a one story structure like this in a thriving city -- I hope they can continue to make it work and not sell out for another high rise!

Perfect start to the day!

By Andrew W |

This place is no frills, but clean and comfortable. The food--which is incredibly delicious and generously portioned--is fantastic, along with the service. Would absolutely return when in Chicago again!

Lunch with family, everyone left full.

By rblumen1 |

Went to lunch with family and had a nice time. The server was efficient and managed the orders and brought the food while it was hot.. I ordered the 2 eggs and a stack of pancakes while my wife had the children's similar order. The grandchildren ordered eggs with corned beef hash and pancakes. There was plenty of food and the dishes were tasty. A good place for lunch.

Worth the wait

By cbcg516 |

We almost didn't go here because the line was out the door but someone who was a local told us that it moves quickly and it wasn't too bad of a wait. Definitely worth it as all the food was delicious and fresh. We had pancakes, French toast, bacon - all perfect. Good coffee. Very well run. Staff kept it running smoothly.

Very good pancakes

By Maria |

It is a low house near Magnificent Avenue. The pancakes are delicious, the tortillas are huge and not bad. If it is for a snack, I would recommend sharing the pancakes since there are six of them.

Had a nice breakfast

By Spw91 |

Not too crowded on a summer weekday. Pretty small restaurant smashed into fancy neighborhood. Not fancy and a good representation of the chain. Hash and eggs were great.

Been There Forever

By Paisan P |

We had the blueberry and pecan pancakes. Both orders were moist, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. It is really nice to order pancakes and have them light and fluffy rather than the dense ones you usually get when eating out. The service was good the coffe was hot and the pancakes excellent. Easy to understand why this place has been there forever.

Amazing

By IAN D |

We came here 6 times for our breakfast whilst staying opposite. The food is amazing and the portions are huge. You can share items if you wish. I have now been converted to pancakes for breakfast.

Awesome

By michaelrV8876NX |

Fantastic and Delicious.. The food is fantastic and the service is amazing. Just know that there are usually lines.. But it is worth the wait

Breakfast!!

By Stuart B |

Our group visited here three times during a weeks visit to town as food is that good and pancakes heavenly! I personally ate eggs benedict and hash n eggs -- both exceptional and the coffee is certainly worth a mention too as its superb. Can't fault this place for your breakfast / lunch needs and well worth a walk -- expect a queue though as its very popular, but don't let that put you off as the food is amazing!

Worth the Wait!

By dalewurfel |

Have dined at this breakfast restaurant many times. Chances are you will have to wait on the weekend. The line is generally out the door but moves quite fast. The longest we have waited is probably 15 minutes. The service and breakfast is definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend!

Our favorite Chicago Breakfast spot

By SpeakUp |

When in Chicago and staying on the Mile, this place is always on our breakfast list. While in town this weekend visiting friends, we actually ate here both mornings. The western omelet is my absolute favorite even though I can never finish it. The portions are massive and it almost covers the plate! Its definitely a dish made for two people. This weekend we had the pleasure of enjoying the nice weather and dining outside both mornings. People watching was great but our biggest surprise was running into actor Vince Vaughn on his way inside! The service is great and the line moved fast both mornings. We'll be back when we return to Chicago!

Delicious Breakfast

By Steve B |

This is a great place for breakfast with an awesome dinner vibe, great service and delicious food. Come hungry and leave satisfied!

Amazing breakfast

By Guardix |

This place is fantastic. A small building in the middle of skyscrapers where time seems to have stopped. Breakfast are insane and with a perfect balance between quality, quantity and price are relatively good. Quite crowded but there is a reason. The staff is very nice and chilled, also cheering for the right NFL team :) GO PACK GO!

Ok Brunch

By NickSFCB |

Ate here in April when I was in town, had the turkey sausage eggs and pancakes. food was ok, service ok. around $25 for the meal with unlimited coffee. Not as good as the 1 in Lincoln park.

Fantastic Build Your Own Skillet

By Sara G. |

I am NOT a chain person but convenience trumped! After reading the history, I'm impressed and happy I chose this spot. This is an old diner-style spot. I had the build your own skillet with feta, broccoli, jalapeños and spinach. It was fresh and delicious and perfectly spicy. The server was so fast on those coffee pours. Betcha I drank an entire pot. Oooopppps! History: This spot was started in 1953 in Portland, Oregon by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke. It is currently a second and third generation family business, maintaining those old ingredient standards. These are required....93 score butter, pure 36% whipping cream, and fresh grade AA eggs, along with their special recipe sourdough starter. Today, there are over one hundred-thirty restaurants worldwide, each with its own menu, owned privately and designed uniquely.

Really nice breakfast spot

By Paul G |

We are not real big fans of chain restaurants, but had a very nice breakfast this morning. The food was good and our service was great. Out server Becky was wonderful. After taking our order my wife and daughter had second thoughts about their meal selection. Becky pulled the order and brought back menus. We travel to Chicago several times a year and will be back.

Breakfast of Champs! A real gem!

By Charmie091 |

My husband and I arrived here on a Monday by around 10:15 AM, did not have to wait in line at all. A kind server saw that no one at reception was helping us, so she offered to seat us immediately. Ordered: - Apple Pancake: This was huge, and did not look like a typical pancake. It was so delicious and fluffy...! - Cherry Crepe and Dollar Pancakes (stack of 5): Fluffy; the crepe was nice and not too sweet - Mushroom Omelette: Really fluffy just as I want my omelette to be - Thick-cut bacon and corned hash: The corned hash was so homey! - Coffee and OJ: Both very good (the coffee was refillable; the OJ was freshly-squeezed) Yes, we did finish everything! This was one of the most memorable breakfasts / brunches we've ever had. I'm so glad we chose to go here instead of the really hyped breakfast places in the city, which take hours to queue up for. Nothing fancy, just real homey breakfast, made with superb skill and fresh ingredients! (Ooo, and props for the really clean and new washroom, which looked newer than the rest of the resto)

Decadent breakfast in the Gold Coast

By Tantra Butterfly |

I haven't been here in years and today was so exceptional I'm going to treat myself at least once a month. I was craving chocolate chip pancakes 🥞 but I also wanted something special on the side. My attentive server suggested I order either a skillet 🍳 or an omelette so the I could get pancakes free on the side. I chose the andouille sausage skillet with eggs served soft and I definitely enjoyed every bite of potato, red peppers, sausage, egg 🥚 and cheese. The chocolate chip pancakes are just a slight upgrade and well worth every penny. The service here is exceptional and everyone here checks up on you to make sure you have enough water 💧 or food. The portions are generous and the food is presented beautifully. You can feel love in every bite 💘 Breakfast here was the highlight of my day and so I'm leaving this 5 🌟 review as a handwritten thank

Amazing french toast

By Rebeca Santos R |

Great Food, they’re very fast to bring The Caramel French Toast was amazing My friend ordered hash brows and eggs that also tasted so good The place keeps its original structure, so don’t expect a fancy place

Good breakfast spot.

By Sandra D |

You go for the food not the ambience. The food is very good and it has good service. Only open until 3 pm.

Comfy breakfast

By glennroymd |

Place opens at 7am and we were there quite early. One of the first ones to arrive. Waiter was responsive and took orders fast, food was served hot, coffee was great and the menu was stacked with great breakfast choices. I tried the pancakes, just fluffy and soft enough as well as the bacon and eggs. Considering all, it was comfort food at its best.

Classic breakfast

By ScottEP |

Excellent food with friendly service and reasonable prices. Don't miss the pancakes (obviously). Bustling location.

Good but not special

By Rune L |

A bit basic but you will be full - so with few alternatives in area it could work for a bite. Best to sit outside but then you have to get there early or get lucky

Rude staff and disgusting service

By Arun K |

Very poor customer service. Do not give any consideration to sequence in which people come in for dining. Keep seating people to maximize their occupancy. Waited for an hour even though we were first in line. Customer service people need to be fired.

Huge menu and portion sizes!

By gemthorlz |

Great food options! The breakfast was tasty, the portion sizes are just hugeeee. Not bad value for money either and they do a good English Breakfast tea!

Excellent food.

By Mark |

We stayed at the Sofitel close by, just a few minutes walk. Ice cold air conditioning which was perfect in a very hot Chicago. Good menu and speedy service. Very friendly staff and you can eat inside or outside. The restaurant is in a safe and popular area.

Yum!!!

By Julie B |

Wow! Everything we had was pure breakfast perfection. Light fluffy pancakes, the unusual Dutch baby, and so much more. Line was long but it moved quickly. If you love breakfast, and are visiting Chicago, then eat here!

Breakfast heaven

By Friendlyshv |

Delicious breakfast! We had turkey sausage (it was yummy & spicy) scrambled eggs, pancakes, strawberry gluten free pancakes, fresh squeezed orange juice, bacon and seriously good coffee!!! There was a line out the door but it moved quickly! The staff is very organized and keeps it moving! It’s super adorable inside and we also had a great waiter! Highly recommend!

Breakfast

By Brent D |

We stayed at the Thompson which is right across the road. The breakfast was fine. Service was good. Just nothing special. Quite expensive for what we ordered.

Omelette time!

By betsnow |

I am a huge fan of OPH. I had one a couple of miles from my home in Poway (San Diego) that I frequented often. Now living in Tucson, AZ I miss this place so when I saw it across the street from my hotel on a recent trip to downtown Chicago you bet I ate there! Twice. First visit I had to have one of their omelette's. They are so good, I think the baking makes them super fluffy. The spinach omelette is my favorite, they serve it with a mushroom/sherry sauce. I asked for cheddar vs. feta and Hollandaise on the side as that is how they serve it at my old local OPH. Ahhhhh, it was so wonderful! The second visit I went for my other favorite - 49'er Flapjacks. They did not disappoint. Service was wonderful.

An Original in Every Way

By Grace W |

This was our 2nd visit to this Chicago eatery just off the Magnificent Mile and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Not big on frills, but grand on tasty treats, this crowded and”get to know your neighbor” spot, hit the mark again. I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict that was perfectly prepared and covered (not smothered) with creamy hollandaise sauce. Even the Canadian Bacon tasted extra special. We marveled at our neighbor’s Dutch Baby as we devoured our shared side of melt in your mouth pancakes. The coffee was plentiful and the service attentive. We love our breakfasts out on vacation. The Original does not disappoint!

Just delicious 😋

By 1roz1 |

Light fluffy pancakes (banana) fantastic skillets. Great service. I'm so glad my son lives just around the corner so we can eat here every time we visit.

Perfection !

By Estepona007 |

We had breakfast at the OPH this morning. Reasonably priced, quality food and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

The food is ok, typical pancakes,

By Sergio A |

The food is ok, typical pancakes, eggs and sausage. The food is not worth the wait, only visit if line is completely empty. The problem is with the hosts: We counted 16 people getting ahead because we were 5. We ended up waiting additional 30 minutes because they filled up tables as they opened up in stead of holding one open for 3 minutes in order to accommodate us that were in the line.

One of the best breakfasts in Chicago!!

By Babywombat_br |

I come to this place every time I come to Chicago and it never failed to impress me. Althought it can take some time until you are able to get a table, it is worth waiting. I recommed their pancakes with steawberry and whip cream, after enjoying great breakfast options. Everything is really delicious. Service is good even when the house is full. It is a place you should include in your list of must visit!

Great Banana Pancakes

By Cemy61 |

Great place to go in the morning and eat to full satisfaction:) Weekends try and go early because there is a long cur. Prices are OK. Taste is great.

Originally amazing!

By Doymo |

We had a group of 10 on a very busy Saturday morning in Chicago. Although we couldn't be seated together, we were next to each other. The waitstaff was more than gracious and attentive the entire meal. The food was hot and delicious. Coffee cups were generously kept full. This place has it nailed!

Pancake Heaven

By Chris |

We sat down and ordered some apple pancakes. So huge was the pile that some Japanese clients were taking photos of our plates and giggling about the size of our pile. Absolutely delicious.

Breakfast

By Leigh M |

Absolutely top notch. Sitting outside is nice. Family of four and we all said that it was the nicest of our trip to the US.

Great breakfast spot

By Maria S |

Great and cosy breakfast spot with a huge menu. Everyone should find something they like here. Sit outside on their patio if the weather allows it.

Delicious

By Gabriele F |

This is a typical restaurant in Chicago, where you can have breakfast, brunch, etc. They have so many different things that you might feel confused with which one you will choose. I would Tell you to ask for the Apple pie. OMG it is delicious! The dishes with eggs are also amazing, I just don't remember the name so I can tell you. Anyway, you are going to love it. Enjoy!

Great place for breakfast

By Phillip W |

Good breakfast food, they have a pretty good selection of items. The service was great and the guy who waited on me was very friendly and a tentative.

Very filling breakfasts

By united9999 |

Very busy breakfast location, make sure you get there before 9am to avoid big queues. The menu is massive and so are the portions, the service wasn’t great though.

Tasty & fast made to order simple breakfast and lunch offerings.

By Lone_Sojourner_606 |

Typical diner food. $9 Had fried egg, pancakes, bacon. A little on pricey side. They are offering a senior menu for 60+. (This location is on 616 West Diversey in Lincoln Park, Chicago.) $$

Went there two days in a row

By PawPawSlim |

Great vibe and coffee and food! We hit this at about eight Saturday morning and then came back at 7:10 Sunday morning to be sure we had a table. The coffee was very tasty [our Airbnb did not have coffee fixings], so that put smiles on our faces. Eggs benedict were very good, as were the pigs in a blanket the next moring. Be Warned: some portions are gi-normous!

Best breakfast in Chicago

By Mike U |

Small breakfast place in the Gold Coast across from Gibson’s steakhouse. I had the ham and cheese omelette high was huge. Freshly squeezed orange juice was unexpected and was fantastic.

Great place!

By Fiveft2 |

It's not the fanciest or newest restaurant, but those are definitely the best pancakes I've ever had. The server was efficient and charming, the food arrived quickly and was delicious. One of us had a 'full breakfast' (eggs, bacon etc.) and I had blueberry pancakes. Zowie - yum. Would definitely go back. There was a lineup on Saturday morning - but it's worth it.

Huge portions

By mumoftwo1964 |

This place is like an institution in Chicago with queues outside the door . Little clapboard building beside some shops . Like you may have guessed , it serves various types of pancakes and waffles . It’s a very old fashioned place . The portions are the largest I’ve ever witnessed in a US restaurant . If you order pancakes , you will receive 6 huge thick ones and they are so filling that the most you will manage is 2-3 . It’s not the place to go if you want a cappuccino , latte or flat white . The only type of coffee they serve is black filter . However is a good place to go if you want to try the American breakfast experience
