Great food and great Happy Hour Specials!

Happy Hour burger is quite big and it comes with home made fries for less than 5 dollars (without taxes). Honestly Burger looks kind of modest - you get thin patty, a leaf of lettuce, slice of tomato, onion and quarter of a pickle - but it tastes really good. Buns are soft, some of the fries may be too burnt but still soft and not too salty. Add a pint of local beer and you have a perfect fast food-pub meal for 10 dollars (tax+tip). I would imagine this as a classic burger in some Dinner next to a highway. Good, without pretentiousness and perfect value. Recommended!

We stopped here for a pre-Sounders game bite and beverage. The staff was great and the Happy Hour deals were excellent, especially b/c you are within 1 mile walking distance to CenturyLink! Don't quote me, but I believe we got some pints for $2.75, a full size burger & fries for under $5, same with the fish and chips. Why WOULDN'T you stop here before the game?

Go here between 3pm and 6pm and have fish and chips or pulled pork sliders for about $5 each. Fun place to watch a sports event on their giant screen, too.

Wife and I had a late lunch there. A nice quiet out of the way place. Food and service were both very good. Turns out the bartender and I were both from the same small town in South Carolina. Small world!

Had a work meeting here and loved the atmosphere. We were there early (around 2pm) so it wasn't very busy when we got there. The meeting lasted until 5 and it was starting to get very busy. That's a good sign that you have found a great place.

We stopped here for a quick bite to eat while sightseeing. The service was friendly and efficient and the food and drinks were very good. The have great deals for happy hour too!

This place isn't a typical tourist bar, but rather more of a commuter place for those waiting to catch a ferry home. The Happy Hour menu is abbreviated, but definitely great, especially the fish and chips. You can eat and have a decent pint for under $10. On some nights, there is a small stage for live music, after Happy Hour. I could tell you exactly how to get there, but you already have the address, and it would only add to the crowds (it is downtown Seattle, after all). Well worth the time, if you like things Irish-American without over doing the pseudo decor.

Stopped here for lunch based on proximity to our hotel. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Good selection on the menu with sandwiches, Irish classics and burgers Fish n chips was really good. Lightly breaded and not greasy at all. The tartar sauce was excellent. Pieces were smaller (option of two or four) but two were plenty filling. French fries were delicious. Burger seemed a little plain but my plain-eating husband really liked it. Lunch for two including beer was under $40. Good value and worth a visit.

Owl N' Thistle is slightly off the beaten path; be careful of the overly high and uneven sidewalks. It has a very unique decor which adds to the atmosphere. We had drinks and dinner. The food was good, nothing on either end of the spectrum to report, except for the French Fries. They were AMAZING! Our waitress was friendly, although service was a little slow, but I'm from the north East Coast and I think we are little more hurried there, as overall I felt service here was a little slower on this coast... but nothing to hold it against anyone.

We called into this pub after happening across it when we got off the ferry from Bainbridge. A barmaid in the Blarney Stone recommended it. We had our best day in Seattle. Entered bar at 11.30am. Left at 6.30pm. Very merry indeed. Marissa couldn't have looked after us any better. Then we met Jack , the owner and a former Irish native from Galway. As fellow filk form ireland, We enjoyed the Craic with him tremendously. A free round, two free t shirts and a cd of his own band made us most welcome. We were sorry we has to leave. We thoroughly recommend this hard to find bar to anyone. A wee gem!

We found this after asking a few locals. It's kind of hidden due to construction in the alley. Super bartenders.

Great bar, good beer and the fish n chips went down really well with my colleagues. The only thing that stopped this bar from getting a five, was the small portion size of the Irish stew. Our server Christin(?)a, was very helpful, checking the local traffic situation at least 3 times for us and showing our navigator the best route back to Tacoma. Thank you Chris', and sorry for not remembering you name correctly. We were a diverse group of guys on a study course and the staff dealt with all our orders, quickly and efficiently, can't ask for more.

Tucked down on a side street this is a clean dive bar with mostly locals. Cheap happy hour prices on food and drinks, and I had some great fish and chips and a beer for only 10 bucks. No outdoor area, and not fancy, but good for what it is.

If we lived closer to Pioneer Square, this would definitely be our go-to neighborhood bar. Tucked away on Post Alley, Owl'n Thistle is an Irish bar that features a some traditional Irish foods, daily specials, and a variety of drinks for low Seattle prices. It is not a far walk from anyone who is in town waiting for the Ferry to Bainbridge/Bremerton or visiting the waterfront area. Each time we have visited they are showing a sporting event and always have a lively crowd. We love the laid back atmosphere and pub feel. Highly recommend stopping in here for a drink or dinner!

We wandered in and were pleasantly surprised by an awesome, authentic Irish Band - The Stout Pounders. We had so much fun dancing and drinking - the prices were reasonable and there were some real characters in there. Not much room to dance (sorry guys) but what a fun experience watching a band like that in such a great room. Can't wait to go back!!

Cheap dinner in happy hour - fish and chips both over cooked - Cosy back street bar but Sophie the waitress was great and very friendly -

A fabulous pub, it has been there (same owners) over 20 years! Excellent food, friendly and attentive servers! Their 3-7:00 Happy "Hour" is a great deal! Good fish and chips, we also tried the hummus platter- yum! Will return again before we leave! Highly recommend if you are looking for a very casual, friendly place with creative and curious decor!

Really good happy hour deals that extend until 7 pm (most are finished by then) which is great for later post-work hangouts. The food options are pretty good and can double as a relatively inexpensive dinner. Pretty standard Irish Pub decor inside. Centrally located.

First, disclosures: This review is for lunch only, I have not been there for happy hour or evenings. For the dining room only, have not sampled the ambiance and service in the Bar or Pool Rooms. I have had lunch there a half a dozen times and the food was always good. The Guinness Beef Stew and the Shepard’s Pie are my favorites. The Shepard’s Pie comes with a gravy [on the side] that is spiced rite to my limit {which is not very high} and provides that kick this dish needs. The special soups of which I have had two, appear to be locally made and are quite rich with ingredients. Part of the dining experience is the ambiance of the room and the Server. The dinning room is eclectic in that I can visualize being in an Irish Pub. Heather, pictured below is a most attentive Server, and more important, will take the time to banner with you. It is a regular stop on my lunch circuit.

Well worth a visit. Good cheap food. Service very quick when we were there and staff friendly. Loved the jazz band who are a bunch of talented and creative guys. Only slight negative, a few flies around which were a bit distracting ( sorry guys) but rest rooms etc all very clean and the building has some interesting old features.

‘It gots to be a tricky ting to try an’ build a good Irish pub in the heart of pan-Metro Seattle, but lassy, the Owl n Thistle do a pretty fine job!’ Pop in for a pint and get yourself a bowl of the Irish stew and a shot of Whisky here! The decor is old country, the music eclectic, and the food is right hearty! Pass on the Irish car bomb if you know how they do it in the old-country though - I tink the bartenders here don’t know its a two shooter drink balancing both a shot of baileys and Whisky in the Guiness pint glass - they just use the Baileys :( Try to get a peak behind the kitchen to get a taste of the Seattle underground steamworks that hint at the city’s speakeasy past - if they let you see that, that’s and added bonus. Aside from that one little ting, it’s a great little hole on Post Alley! Oh, and say hi to Bobby when yer’ there and buy him a pint!

During a visit to Pike Place Market found this gem of a pub - great food and of course Guinness! We all enjoyed and will gladly return

Go here! Great fish and chips (the best we had in Seattle). Really cold beer. Good service. Convenient after stepping off the ferry.

Meet friends over from Bainbridge for a pint and early tea so caught happy hour. Our first time here. Above all else the Guinness was poured right and was very good. Three in the party had fish and chips and enjoyed the fillets. My wife ordered a burger and for $4.50 can not go wrong. The downside was my Shepard's Pie...clearly made ahead of time and warmed in a microwave. While I ate all it was far from perfect and the reason I gave only three stars. It to be honest I was there for the liquid gold called Guinness.

This is probably the billionth time someone has raved about the fish-n-chips here, but it's definitely warranted. The tartar sauce is amazing, the fish is tender and sweet, the coating is impossibly crispy, and the portions are good. Wash it down with a pint of beer while cheering on Seattle's sports teams with the rowdy locals and you'll be in Irish pub nirvana. Note: Happy hours are 3-7 p.m. daily, where foods on the happy hour menu start at $3.95, including the fish-n-chips that are normally $9.95. The policy is that you have to purchase a drink as well, although the waitresses said they don't enforce it, but why wouldn't you want a beer?

The fish and chips were delicious. Usually I find this dish to greasy or heavily breaded to enjoy. This is the only fish and chips I would order again! Good happy hour and you can take advantage even if you have underage kids with you (they do buy some type of drink). Service was so-so.

The happy hour featured fish and chips for something like $5.45, and it was the best fish and chips I'd had all week (and the others were more than double the price).

We discovered this place whilst we were on a tour of Seattle. We were advised to check it out especially during happy hour - $5 fish n chips which was absolutely delicious , not overly greasy and the fish tasted fantastic. Good place for a quiet drink and doesnt seem that touristy. Service was good and really couldn't fault the place. It is dark and divey but clean and friendly. Give it a shot

Local restaurant a block away from the piers. Very good happy hour price meal. Fish and Chips $4.99.

A day spent in Seattle, after hours at the Pike, we stopped in at Owl 'n Thistle for an early supper, it was happy hour (a 4-7pm event) so we decided this wound be a great rest stop. I had the beef stew, which was hot and delicious served with dark Irish bread. My husband had the fish and chips! Said to be the 'best in town', and of this I have no doubt! The fish, local cod, was light and flaky, just as a New Englander likes. We added the Irish Poutine from the regular menu. Again, as in the Irish tradition, really hearty! Nestled between 1st and the Alaska Way just outside Pioneer Square, the atmosphere is warm and cozy and the staff friendly, efficient, and attentive. All for under $35. In my opinion a supper success!

Embrace witty banter between strangers with your friends Jameson and Guiness. This is a hidden gem of the Pioneer Square neighborhood. Leave your illusions of 'just having one' at home.

This pub was recommended during our free walking tour. We were not disappointed. The food and drinks were half price and excellent. Highly recommend the fish and chips and pulled pork sliders. Beers at $4.50 are terrific value. Great atmosphere as well. A four hour happy hour is amazing.

Visited this bar a few times during a recent trip to Seattle and would say it’s worth dropping in! There was music on one of the nights which was good, the service was also great as well as the atmosphere. Got chatting to some of the locals who were also fun! Had the fish n chips during happy hour which was lovely! Give it a go!

Great little pub for watching sports or just pounding a brew or two - great location and good service - decent food - a good spot to relax if your inclined 🍺

Had some great food, and the atmosphere was good. My husband had the fish and chips and was extremely enjoyed with it. The shepherds pie is with lamb and beef and is said to be the best around.

We stopped by during happy hour and had the Brown Top Beer and Fish & Chips. EXCELLENT!!! We will be back again. If you're in Seattle, you have to try this!!

Not a great view even though near the water. Look out over a new street, kinda alleyway but inside is traditional Irish pub. Am told their night music is great. We just had beers and Poutine (fries with white cheese mar cheese and onion gravy!) Understand it’s an Irish Canadian Pub dish. Was great with beers.

Be sure to wander around and see the entire place, including the barber shop next door. Fresh fish and hand cut fries made for a tasty happy hour meal.

The prices were very low. They claim to have the best fish and chips on town. What we had was awful, but it was happy hour. May be better at other times.

We ordered both the fish and chips and the shepherds pie and they were just ok. The portions were good sized. The fish was flakey and crispy, but tasteless. The shepherds pie was more mashed potato than anything else. The service was fine. I liked the tucked away atmosphere.

Stopped in for happy hours, our feet hurt, we were tired and needed a drink. What we found was that they have the best, very best happy hour in Seattle. The bar area is not large and reminded us of being back in a small town in Ireland. Happy hour prices are very reasonable but the real value is the quality and price of the food. The fish and chips stack up against any restaurant any where, not just Seattle. They also have music some nights in the bar area.

This pub has good reviews and was recommended by our tour guide, but on the afternoon we went, we found it had very little atmosphere, poor service and the recommended fish & chips were definitelly sub-par. On this showing we would certainly not return.

Went for a walk, found it, and glad I did! Hows the song go? "I love this bar" Loved the atmosphere, a true irish pub with amazing clam chowder and even better fish n chips. The staff were awesome the Jameson flows like wine and the women flock like the salmon of Capastrano! Get down here have a drink, have some chowder, play some darts and watch a lil futbol on the tele! Awesome joint!

We were recommended this pub by a tour guide cos of its fish and chips. Coming from the uk they were probably only average. However their happy hour price is exceptional for the US. Equally have had better IPAs and glasses of wine but not at their happy hour price. Also liked in the dining area you could help yourself to plenty of drinking water. Service was very efficient but not particularly friendly albeit they are very busy during the happy hour.

And it is just that, a good pub. The staff were very welcoming. I noticed that the regulars and the tourists like us got along splendidly. The beer selection was broad enough to find something one can enjoy. We did not eat anything but everything that went by us looked great.

We decided to do lunch here upon the recommendation of our walking tour guide, Jake. It was exactly as he described. Quiet bar-type restaurant off the beaten track with sensational fish and chips.

We just had drinks there (although it was recommended to go during happy hour when the food is discounted and they supposidly have the best fish and chips..can't comment since we didin't have any). However, there was a guy who had one too many and they did a good job of not letting him ruin our time or get any drunker by serving him more. What could have been a bad experience turned into a pleasant time.

What's the best thing to do on a cool rainy day? Head to the pub of course! We enjoyed a late lunch fish and chips and ruebens and of course a Guinness and Irish coffees. Plenty of food delish hand cut fries and superb wait staff. It will be our place we have to go and tell others to go when visiting Seattle

Nothing fancy about this place, but that's the point. Great service, great drinks, no frills. And you can play pool or throw darts in true pub style.

This restaurant and bar is located in an alley, a little hard to find but well worth it when you get there. This Irish pub has one of the best happy hours in Seattle. It has a happy hour seven days a week. We usually have the hummus dish for happy hour and the pork sliders. They are both a really good value and taste great. The bartenders, especially Kimberly are super friendly and the owners are great. We have a good time everytime we come to Seattle at this pub. Also try the fish and chips, yum!

We enjoyed the food but we had ordered a clam chowder then a beef stew BUT all arrived together. So we raced through the soup so the stew would be warm. Did we do something wrong? When I queried why all was served together we had a shrug of the shoulder. Cheap and cheerful is our overall comment.

I go to the Own & Thistle every time I'm in Seattle. Its a nice friendly pub with friendly staff and customers. Almost anyone feels right at home. Its on Post Ave. which is more of an alley than a street. Post is about 1/2 a block toward the waterfront from 1st Avenue, and 1/2 a block from Alaska Way which runs along the tourist piers. The location is more like around the back down the alley than on a street. The location is in the heart of Seattle's down town tourist area, but its down the alley and out of the way, so few tourists ever know its there. The Owl & Thistle has a good selection of food from fish&chips to sandwiches, salads, and whole dinners. Plenty of Irish beer and whiskey to drink and plenty of pleasant conversation. My photo is a little dark, but then the place is a little dark.

Great little hole in the wall with great atmosphere, lots of space to sit and enjoy a pint or watch the game or chat with friends.

Located in an alley way, a street back from the waterfront with a view of the Smith Building in the Pioneer Square area of downtown. Great spot for beer and fish & chips or a Reuben sandwich. Varied menu and a locals favorite. Daily happy hour from 3-7pm. Atmosphere is a pub setting with bar and a fair amount of seating to relax and have a conversation over drinks. Friendly staff and good from and drink.

Delicious smoked salmon with salad when I went, may be seasonal. Live music there too.

Good local music.

This pub is tucked away off the main roads, which fits its personality just fine. This place has become a favorite on Seattle trips when I need that comfortable little hole in the wall with well priced food and beer (very cheap during happy hour). Its close to the main tourist attractions in Seattle yet in a world of its own. Beer offerings include micro, macro, and local. Food is standard Irish/American fare, just way cheaper then what you will pay at most places (its greasy bar food, the way it was meant to be). You have a pick of a few different rooms, all of which always seem to be packed with people no matter the time of day. Musicians are featured here, which I feel is essential for an Irish pub whether its traditional Irish or no (in this case it depends on the night). And if you are a football fan, stop in for some free hot dogs on Sundays during the season. Can't go wrong with that.

This is a great pub - drinks are reasonable and food is awesome and at a really great price! Happy hour is really reasonable

Casual little on Post Ave, just off First Street. Decent Happy Hour prices. Place was pretty full, but our waitress was quite efficient. Did not try any of the food options. Great place to wet your whistle.

Though I've been only once, and though I didn't love my meal, my experience was overall good and I would return if ever in downtown Seattle. It was Halloween, and friends and staff were gathered mostly in costume. I took my time with the menu, hemmed and hawed over some nice-looking fare, but settled on a steak sandwich. It wasn't bad, but it was too bready for me; should've had the shepherd's pie instead. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good beer made the experience a good one.

We went with a new-found friend, hoping to hear some music, but it was Monday, and nothing happening. However, the bowl of Irish Stew was worth the visit. As was the Guinness.

While in Seattle we watched several football games here. The drinks are very reasonable and the servers are very effficient.

Stopped in on a Tuesday night for a few drinks (bar hopping) and stuck around for the jazz. Looks like it's a house band there every Tuesday and they are good. The bar is a bit of a hole in the wall. Reminds me of Hermann's jazz club in Victoria (as far as looks). I enjoyed it and would definitely come back (especially on a Tuesday).

the food was OK but the O/T band was fantastic!!! a great way to spend NYE in Seattle

I saw their entry in the St Patrick's Day parade, was invited there and found a great atmoshere, delicious food, friendly quick and accurate staff. I'll be back. A "Cheers" type atmoshere, lots of friendly staff and people, a great hidden gem only one block away from the Ferry Terminal

Seen The Town Pants at the Owl many times since 2003 and neither disappoints. The Owl is an awesome bar for live Irish music, and The Town Pants knows how to get the crowd into the show.

This is a great place to take a break, enjoy a couple of beers and have some good pub grub. I recommend going here at "Happy Hour" the prices are great. Let me just mention right here that almost ALL of Seattle restaurants and pub offer "Happy Hour." Now you won't have a choice of the full menu, but you sure can find enough to save some bucks and maybe even go restaurant or bar/pub hopping during the "Happy Hour" time to get a real good assortment of good eats and cocktails. Oh, enter this establishment thru the alley.

On the way to the Mariners game, stopped here for a draft Guinness. Was fascinated by a wall of books. Law books. Guinness was great, out of time, I'm coming back. The servers here were very nice. What's not to like? Wish I would have stayed longer. I recommend this place. GO. If you like Irish Pubs, this is a great one.

Guiness-5 stars, cold and good heeed, laddie. Service-5 stars. Ladies rocked. Free Guinness glass!! Atmosphere-5 stars Chowder-4 stars- bowl licking good Burger-3 stars , Dry and boring cold cheese Chicken burger -3stars, bland and cold cheese Fries-3stars.

Pleasant enough and tucked away off 1st Ave. The food and beer are cheap if you go in Happy Hour, but that's all I can say for it really. Quality of the food was pretty poor to be honest. Service was very slow, and the server kept telling us how terribly busy they were - they really weren't!

I always stop here for the first or last drink after or before getting on the ferry. This is always worth the small walk. They usually have live music, and the drinks are always flowing. The food is great too. You cant go wrong heading to this Irish pub.

Just a block away from Pioneer Square, I stopped here for dinner. They have some really good happy hour specials. The $5.25 fish and chips was cod and it was very good. The dill tartar sauce was tasty as well. The portion was quite ample, thought not huge, which was fine, as you'll want to wash this down with a 20oz Guiness for $7.00. Others have commented that this doesn't look like a "true" Irish pub, but I'm pretty sure the waitress red hair didn't come out of a bottle, and that's close enough for me. My eyes were smiling as I left, even if I;m not Irish.

I have a “thing” about owls and we love Irish pubs ☘️ 🍺 so we had to stop in here. Waitress was a little slow to take care of us but she was really busy.

We found this pub by chance and was so happy we did. We were here with another couple before our cruise out of Seattle. Owl N Thistle was a quaint little pub that had AMAZING happy hour prices and food between 3-ypm. It seemed almost to good to be true. They had TV's to watch sporting events. It is off the beaten path but you need to find it and enjoy the best meal and drinks!!

AJ and Amy are off the charts friendly, and treat EVERYONE that comes in with respect and camaraderie. True gem.

Stopped in for a light dinner and we were in luck because it was Happy Hour. We each had the fish and chips and I had a lager. The food was excellent and inexpensive. The total bill was $18.00. Would have given them 5 stars but the service was a little slow and they were sold out of T-shirts. We will definitely stop here again on our trip.

Both times I've been here have been thoroughly enjoyable. Love the atmosphere and beef stew. The service and prices are good too. Highly recommend.

We stopped in here for a nightcap after dinner, and sat in the front section which is set up like a Library / comfortable English home. Really excellent service, very cosy, great place to chat. Romantic for couples.

Great atmosphere, and a good place to hang out if you're ever stuck waiting for a ferry late at night (or anytime). The house band is a kick.

We visit here every time we come to Seattle. It's an old favorite despite sometimes very bad service and not the greatest food. It's usually over hot inside and stuffy and the chairs aren't very comfortable. But they do have ninkasi IPA for happy hour, and happy hour lasts until 7 p.m.. Stay away from the artichoke spinach dip as it's not creamy but rather as if they just dumped a jar of artichoke hearts into a bowl with parmesan cheese on top. French fries are fresh cut, if you like that. I always get the pulled pork sandwich. It's got a great atmosphere, very low-key. Don't come here if you're in a hurry.

HAVE to go here for the happy hour fish n chips, it's cheap and oh so yummy! It's an older bar with character and character's..lol..you can play pool here, have drinks, beers, and they have live music...check there website. Us girls go here every "girls" trip

Good pub with super friendly service. Nice selection of beer on tap. Good mixed drinks. Great for happy hour.

We popped in htere a few times whenever in Seattle, at times it felt like being back in Ireland! They do tasty enough grub at good prices and great drink specials.

Popped into The Owl 'n Thisel just last evening for a pint. Neat atmosphere, and decent taps. They had the World Series on - wouldn't have guessed it for a 'sports bar', but I guess it was the final game. Didn't have any food, but based on the vibe there, would definitely return to try!

Too tired to go out again, hubby called in an order and went to pick up our order. Food was hot, delicious and well prepared. Hubby said service was great. We will dine IN the restaurant on our next visit.

Found this pub tucked away on a quiet side street. Loved the old world feel to it - the old books and leather chairs. We were there during the day when it was quiet, would love to go again on a Friday evening

A local friend of mine recommended the Owl 'N Thistle, knowing my fondness for pubs like those I came to know in England, and I was not disappointed. A little off the beaten track but still right in the heart of downtown Seattle, the Owl 'N Thistle can be a bit difficult to spot since there aren't many other restaurants on the street. From the outside, it seems a bit dark, but just come on in to find a friendly staff, a great line of beers on tap, and reasonably priced food-- a nice contrast to some of the other, more expensive downtown dining options. It's a great spot to stop for a quiet lunch in the afternoon, but the the evening atmosphere is fantastic. Good crowds, good music, and quick staff. All around, I highly recommend it.

Initially chose this pub instead of another nearby because it was a little off the main path and we wanted a quieter place for happy hour. After reviewing the menu posted on the wall outside the entrance we entered and were seated. After noting the menu posted on the table had different prices (higher) than those listed outside, we asked the waitress about the price difference. She responded: "We must have changed our prices since posting the sign outside." When I showed her that one of the beverage items was listed as $4.00 outside and $4.50 on the table, she responded "It's only 50 cents." That is 12.5% difference, and something a waitress would be appreciative of upon receiving a tip. After ordering only beverages and opting not to order food, and not appreciating the attitude and interaction with the waitress, we left for the other Irish pub for cocktails and dinner...and were very satisfied.

While on business in Seattle, a friend and I found this whole in the wall pub. From the minute we walked in, we realized that we had found what we had been looking for, for the past two days. A genuine pub. We were there late afternoon, mid-week and the place was fairly empty. They had specials on and it was happy hour. The decor is typical of an Irish pub. Their selection of food and beverages is typical of what you'd find in a pub. I'm a big fan of Wagners Ciders and they had these here. The food was great and I would definitely recommend this pub to friends and family.

The Owl "N Thistle is a hideaway on Post near Marion. Close to the ferry terminal and Pioneer Square. While it doesn't have the most updated decor and is a little dark, it is truly a genuine place with genuine, friendly people and it's become one of our favorite places to grab some chow before a show or a game, especially during happy hour. The HH menu is robust and covers a lot of options. The food comes up fast and fresh with crispy fish and chips, pulled pork sliders, hummus, etc. in portions that are reasonably sized. It's a great place to watch football, especially the home games as it fills up with those headed for the game then empties out so you can watch the big screen without Noisy Bill providing live action coverage.... Go Seahawks!

Cool spot for happy hour. Fish 'n Chips only $5 during happy hour (and they taste great). Kind of dark and not so pretty, but it's a pub with good food, good drinks and good people!!

Great fish and chips and the price is right during happy hour! A bit off the beaten path, but Highly recommended.

Happy hour is busy and bustling, a great bargain for very good food and service. Our waitress was friendly and attentive despite the frantic pace. Fish and chips were delicious, enough for a small to medium appetite. It's a great place to meet with friends and relax.

Kind of off the beaten track but worth it. Food is what you would expect from a pub and service is very good. Very friendly atmosphere and seems to be a soccer spot for those looking for a game. Lots of sports on so a good place to catch a game.

Not too busy on a Thursday evening. Had a couple of pints at $4 and excellent fish and chips for $5.25 happy hour prices. You could tell the fish was fresh and battered there rather than frozen. Also had a pint of Guinness for $7 that was poured properly, that is, a full glass with a normal head unlike when you get a 2inch Head!

What a cool little bar. Interesting location good service and cold beer what more could you ask for. Stopped in after a football game had a great time. Will be back for sure

We stopped in at the Owl 'N Thistle during a day of walking around Seattle. The bar filled soon after we arrived with Sounders fans who clearly met there regularly on their way to games, but there were several single individuals working on laptops who seemed equally comfortable. We liked the fact that it's clearly a neighborhood stop for locals as well as a good choice for tourists in need of a rest during their sightseeing. Service was quick and friendly.

My husband & I visited this place for the first time yesterday, after a meeting in the Smith Tower a couple of blocks away. We had a late lunch, so the place wasn't crowded. I love the location, at the south end of Post Alley, just a block off First. This makes it an easy walk from Pioneer Square, from Coleman Dock, and just a bit longer walk from CenturyLink Field. My fish and chips were perfect, crispy and tender and not a hint of oily taste or texture. I can honestly say these are the best fish and chips I've ever had. My lunch also came with a green salad, and yummy tartar sauce for dipping. The place has a very "old Seattle" feel, from the exposed brick walls to the alley location, complete with hanging lights for an after-dark walk. I will definitely be back, next time for happy hour or dinner and live music.

Live music, sticky floors, heap drinks... a perfect dive bar. Friendly bar staff, although tough Tom get a drink when the place is packed. Fun evening.

After watching the Mariners win I met some friends at the Owl and Thistle! What a hidden gem of an Irish pub! Located just half a block off first in the downtown area, this place has great fish and chips! The decor and clientele are authentic giving a very relaxed friendly environment. We enjoyed it so much we came back for another round of pints the next day!

Great Irish Pub. We were in Ireland recently and told people how much we liked the Pubs there. We were told to come here. We are glad we did. Good selection of beers and ales. Friendly staff.

Absolutely discussing service, meal was even worse, my husband couldn't finish his meal of fish, over cooked. The waitress Amy couldn't smile if she tried had to ask twice for a glass of water. So definitely NO tip Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Wine processo served in wine glass should have been in a flute.

Met some friends here who were coming across on the boat. Hidden little Irish sports bar on post alley. Kind of dark but plenty of TV's, great service, good beer specials, and a decent central location to meet folks coming across the sound. Got a little packed for happy hour but well worth the stop.

We stumbled on this place online and we're glad we did. Food is primarily US pub fare but the stuffed chicken and the Guinness beef stew were both very good. The place is dark and probably not a great spot for kids but good for adults.

Nice little Irish Pub. Not very easy to find. The entrance is in an alley. Bartender was very friendly.

What a happy hour deal, had the fish and chips and a beer...…….cant beat the price or taste. Came here on a recommendation from the free walking tour.

3 of us stopped in for lunch. FOOD: 3.0. Fish and chips. Was fine. Would definitely be worth the Happy Hour price. SERVICE: 4.0. She was amazing, working fast and remembering the details. AMBIANCE: 2.5. Several rooms. Dated and threadworn, but comfortable, with some interesting touches like rows of old law books and a unique large copper-topped dining table.

Dropped in for drink while exploring pike place market. Bar staff were friendly enough. Draft beer w a few selections. Food looked good. Beer was cold n good. Worth a drop in.

This place was recommended to us by our hotel concierge after we asked for a good local pub-style venue in the Pioneer Square area. I should have tipped him more because we were not disappointed. We arrived a couple of hours before a midweek soccer game and while the pub only had a handful of guests at first, it was packed when we left with many waiting outside. The food was excellent. I had fish and chips and would rank it among the best I've had anywhere. They were not oily/greasy and the crispy batter was not tiresome after a few bites. It came with four pieces although you can have a smaller happy hour version. My wife had a shepherd's pie made with lamb and beef and was delighted with it. The pie was hot and tasty and served with something called soda bread (a bit like a tangy cornbread). Both meals were around $10 and were good value for the price. There are many beers on tap although I settled for a couple of Guiness (in an Irish pub, so why not?). My wife had a long island ice tea but found it too heavy on the alcohol side. Our server then recommended a grape nehi cocktail instead which was more to her liking. The service was fast and friendly although I can see it being slower when the place gets really busy. They seem to have music on certain nights and were even offering free hot dogs for visitors after the game. Alas, we didn't go there after but will certainly be back if we can. The pub is bit hard to find but worth the effort.

Visited Owl 'N Thistle because we read about the music. We got there too early to partake of that, but it didn't even matter. Good food and our waitress Heather was fabulous! We had a great conversation with her about why she moved to Seattle and what we planned to see on our visit. We even got a little tour of the restaurant and heard about its history.

This is a great bar a little off of 1st Ave. It has a very comfortable feel with a nice mix of foods and drink. We stayed in the bar side of the business, although the restaurant side looked nice. They had great happy hour appetizers such as $3.95 fish and chips with two large, tasty pieces of fish and tasty fries. The $2.95 spinach artichoke dip was lovely also. The beers are poured well and they ahve a nice collection. It is a great place to watch soccer games.

Found this pub on a cobblestone street in close proximity to pikes market. Great atmosphere as a sounders soccer game was on and the fans were coming in to support their team. Food was great and large selection of beers as well. Definitely going back again!

the beer was good, but it's not somewhere you go for a nice meal. average fare

Discovered this pub and ate a couple of times here during our short stay in Seattle ... food was good and my hubby happy with his Guinness..... friendly pub just off the main streets ... highly recommended

Great atmosphere, amazing fish and chips and happy hour prices that can't be beat!! We make it a regular stop every visit to Seattle!

Do the Happy Hour 4-7, great choices for drinks and food. Don't pass up the fish & chips. Location, difficult, but worth trying to find it. Was recommended by our tour guide.

We went a Friday night for the music and it was not Irish at all. The food was average. Very disappointed.

We had about an hour for lunch before our boat tour and asked our waitress ahead if we’d have enough time. She happily accommodated without rushing. Food for four was hot and tasty. Beer was Irish (and tasty too!) Great spot off the tourist trappy wharf.

This place is in an old building, which was really cool. Do come here if you expect to have an English Pub type experience. The kitchen was closed but they had the best stew and homemade bread available. We're making it a tradition to come here after ever Seahawks game.

Great bar and beer selection and fantastic fish and chips. Nice to be off the beaten path in a tourist-heavy city this time of year.

I loved this bar!! I stopped in with some friends to grab a drink around happy hour time and had a great time. Good beer selection, they have bands during the week, lots of TVs, friend bartenders...what more could you ask for?

We had a late tour of underground Seattle, and decided with the group to hit happy hour here. Great prices on drinks and food in what seemed like an authentic Irish pub. I had some very good fish and chips and several drinks. Lots of fun.

We wandered in after seeing signs for Owl 'N Thistle on the main road. What a pleasant surprise! Nice cozy atmosphere and they even projected the ALCS game on the wall in the back. Would definitely go back.

Great food, nice variety of beers and fun atmosphere!! Everyone was friendly and service was great!!

I saw the sign for this pub when I was walking the skyway from the ferry. It's kinda hidden on a little eside street. Since I love owls, I had to try it based solely on the name. It is totally chill! The staff is super friendly, the beer is served promptly, and the people who come here care about having a good time and enjoying the game on the big screen. Good place for a solo visit. I was totally welcome and at ease. The food is fine and ambiance is fun. A+ for the friendly service . . . and for the name.

Great quint atmosphere. I loved the relaxed quiet feel of it!! We had fish and chips and was NOT disappointed. Very good!! Had a mixed drink and they make a very good one!! Waitress was pleasant but she was busy so not in a hurry. Extra help on a Friday night would be a plus

Been here twice. My brother and I came here on a Saturday evening. There was a private party that had a large room reserved and they seemed to have the focus of most of the servers. It was actually very similar to some larger pubs in Ireland, you may come in and sit down and appear to be invisible until someone stumbles upon you. It took a bit, but we eventually got served. On my previous visits it was usually lunch time and much slower so the service was rapid and excellent. The shepards pie is very good. So was the Guinness and Jameson.

If Ilived in Seattle this would be my regular hang out! The atmosphere is so COZY! The bloody mary was a bit spicy- but delicious! and the fish and chips was to die for. My husband especially loved his Irish breakfast with blood suasage.

We stopped by for happy hour because it lasted until 7. We both had the fish and chips. I am not a fish and chips expert, but I would say they were average. However, the tartar sauce was great! I did like that the fish was not heavily breaded. Despite not being overwhelmed with the food, it was a great deal for the money spent. The atmopshere was a typical bar. It was loud, and there were a lot of locals. It seemed to be a popular hang out. Everyone was friendly.

This place is a bit out the way, and not as "popular" as it's upstairs neighbor Fado. We actually went here to watch a soccer match when Fado was ridiculously crowded. We had great service and good food. It's kind of a dark-looking place when you enter, but the staff make up for it by being very friendly and inviting. The food is pretty standard pub fare, there are plenty of TV's to watch sports on and the cocktails are well-made.

Had dinner here and really enjoyed the setting. The service was good but maybe a tad slow. They have a huge big screen TV but also a quieter area away from it. I had the Fish N' Chips. The chips were very good, but the fish, not so much. Certainly not the Best in Town as advertised on the menu. My companion had the Hummus Basket which had generous portions and she enjoyed it. Definitely a good place for drinks.

This pub on Post Alley boasts a wonderful happy hour. My husband got fish and chips and I had the beef stew. Both were stellar, and at happy hour, an incredible bargain. Beer, wines and well drinks are also a bargain, but I went for the Jameson's and was very pleased by the generous pour for $7. Jake from our walking tour told us about this place, and we were not disappointed!

Great fish n chips, good beer, great soup of the day (chicken dumpling). They do have a seating area in hype bar area and separate from the bar area and have a full menu. Enjoyed the happy there!

We were meandering through Pioneer Square and stumbled upon this gem. We were there during happy hour. I got the fish and chips it was terribly inexpensive and pretty tasty. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because our waitress was so busy our beers ran empty for a sec. The quality of food was good.

Off 1st avenue so you won't find it very easily. It was packed full on a friday night happy hour time - must be locals because tourists like myself would generally not venture past loud street bums down the back streets unless thirsty and adventurous. (I happen to like owls, irish and happy hour!) Just had drinks but will definitely visit again.

The food is good and the service is good. We have had many parties here for work it is a good place to go.

We were in Seattle for a few days in May and the Owl & Thistle was our best discovery. We did downtown pub crawl and this was our best stop so we visited each day after that. Good food, friendly staff and good pub atmosphere. We may have been the only "tourists" in the house.

We had attended an early Mariner game and were walking back to our downtown hotel and wandered in here for a pint and ended up having dinner. So glad we did! Fish and chips were very good and another couple had a Reuben that looked awesome - and they pour a mean Guinness! Their Irish Mules were really tasty! Wait staff were so very kind!

Good ambience, excellent fresh fish n/chips (their speciality); good billards, beer and music. Location is tough to find, but just ask any hotel bellman and they will direct you, or use yahoo maps and they'll escort you via phone! In a small alley, but friendly and good vibes.

When I walked in and they were playing The Clash I knew this was my kinda place. Great service - good knowledge about the beers which were great. The added bonys was that we visited on a Tuesday and this was jazz jam night so we were treated to a cool jazz session which then turned into a jam with various musicians joing from the audience, Cool, cool place.

While holidaying in Seattle we visited a couple of weeks ago on a weekday evening around 7pm. Place was empty which makes sense after you read this. It was not a public holiday or they had something special planned with something out of the ordinary. Just a regular day. Greeted by the waiter who showed us to a table. She never introduced herself. Food was ok and service was ok. Nothing special for a pub. After requesting the bill we found there had been a 20% gratuity added to the total cost of the food and drinks. What? We had dined the night before in a very formal and well known steakhouse where the food was superb and the service impeccable but even there the gratuity was 17.5%. A 20% tip for a pub with pub food and pub service makes no sense and is ridiculous. Needless to say avoid this place like the plague unless you are happy to have a 20% tip automatically added to your food and drinks bill.

A bit worn in the pub, and that contributes to the aged charm, my wife and I had a very pleasant time. The beer choices were adequate, the very large corn beef and Swiss cheese sandwich good and my wife's hummus salad enjoyed by her. We accidentally went in during an hour after 63,000 people left a Seattle Sounders soccer game and a few thousand of them seemed to be in the Owl 'N Thistle. The noise level was obviously high but relaxed and fun; service was amazingly competent with server Anne capable of keeping up. We took our time, and after another hour or so of sipping beer or wine, the tumult slowed to a calm pleasure. Visit ONT whenever you want to enjoy a genuine-seeming Irish pub with decent food and a pleasant setting.

There was a good variety of dishes available, and na excellent selection of beers. A great place to go if you like pub atmosphere!

We are here for lunch, after having fish and chips several places we finally found an authentic British taste. We would definitely recommend trying this little pub!!

Has a lovely Irish feel without the over the top dancing leprechaun fake Irish ambience! Shepherd's pie was very tasty and presented beautifully. Hubby had a turkey sandwich he enjoyed very much. Have to say their brown bread was almost as good as my own...actually it was probably better! :) Great service and cold Smithwick's and Guinness...pretty perfect!

We went here for Happy Hour because it was recommended by Jake on our walking tour of Seattle. It is on Post Street in an area not frequented by a lot of tourists so it was very "local". They had a very good choice of draft beers for a reasonable price, and a Happy Hour menu which included fish and chips (ling cod) for $5.25. Our total bill for 2 people was less than $20.

Stopped by for lunch following a meeting at the Smith Tower. I had Guinness and fish & chips. The Guinness was tasty as you would expect. The fish & chips were perfect. Very crispy and excellent fish. The chips were done perfectly as well. I highly recommend this pub.

Met a friend here for few drinks. The BEST clam chowder in ALL of Seattle and the soda bread was to die for. Can't wait to eat/drink here again on my next trip.

I stopped in on a rainy evening in November with a few local colleagues and a few who were visiting from Europe. Our original plan, to quaff a beer or two before heading to a different place for dinner, changed when we found that we were enjoying the Owl 'N Thistle so much that we saw no reason to move on. We ate in the bar and the food, "pub grub" variety, was very good and the beer selection was fair - many in our party are accustomed to the possibly-excessive 40+ draft beer choices becoming so common in Seattle pubs.

Check out the happy hour! Every day. Great prices! The burger was a little thin but was good. The service is fast and friendly. A great break for a day in Seattle!

The idea of lunch at a "pub" was appealing. However, the slow service, (waitress was trying, more help needed) and just average, at best, food. Some of our group had the fish and chips. Which they liked..... And okay choice of beers on tap. Space, was dark and dated. Probably better place for happy hour, drinks and relaxing with friends, but would (will) find food elsewhere.

I found The Owl n Thistle a great pub. Great beers.. Great whiskeys and excellent tasty food. AJ & Aidan are two great bar tenders and very friendly. Its a hidden gem tucked away on a side street. Although it is well advertised and well sign posted. I would highly recommend this pub if ever in Seattle.
Owl and Thistle is an Authentic Pub with great hospitality
Having tried lunch, happy hour, and Saturday night live music at the Owl and Thistle, I can unequivocally state this place rocks. The atmosphere is cozy without being small, bartenders are friendly, and most importantly, the patrons are chill. Also, their fish and chips are excellent. It is only a few blocks from the nightmarish Coleman Dock reconstruction in Seattle, so for ferry patrons, this is your best stop while you wait for your boat. Good food, good beer, and great people.
