Another nice night

By MJNHouston |

Once again good food and people watching. Nothing beats, nice wine, a Cesar Salad, Filet and Baked Potato. Finish it off with coffee and Flourless Chocolate Cake.

Great night!

By Rickhou2011 |

We had an event at The Palm last night and the environment was great, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Mr. Bruce, "The Waiter", is a very qualified professional that really likes his job and exceeds customers' expectations.

The Palm Houston

By jrpjr007 |

My favorite steak house in Houston. Best steaks, great alternative foods, amazing hash browns and creamed spinach, and wonderful long term staff. An A+

High Wine prices

By Winemakertx |

Food is good and tasty and reasonable, however the wine prices are over the top, ok for expense accounts

Shame on the Executive Director

By William D |

I bit my tongue for one week but here we go. The Palm has been high on our list for years. Last Saturday, my wife and I had 7:00 pm reservations for dinner to kick off our 30th wedding anniversary. We are dining club members and frequent the location regularly. We attended the 'grand' re-opening last year following its closure for remodeling. When we arrived there were three tables and three booths that were empty other than where we were seated including a table directly in front of us. I could not see most of the tables in the back room. By 7:20 - 7:30 the tables were full. Our table was in a horrendous location where no table should ever be placed, directly in line with the busboy station and the kitchen doors. My back was four feet from the double kitchen doors. My wife's back was four feet from the waiters' bus station handling beverages. At one point, early-on, 8 waiters were literally in a conga line like a train coming out of Grand Central Station. Unfortunately, this flow of workers continued through our entire dinner. We asked the waiter and he apologized and said he would notify the general manager. Initially, the table next to us was set for four people as was our table. Then the executive director had it set for six as two busboys began resetting the table. Then the executive director did not like this. He requested that they move that table to another room. They actually folded the leafs, lifted the table and carried it out to another room moving it directly over me with no concern or an apology to us. Within minutes, we were approached by the general manager who did apologize for our seating and said he would check on another location. I questioned this delay since we had our wine and our partially eaten salads followed by my asking where in the world we would get moved to since the restaurant was now full. Then to our dismay, the executive director had the busboys take the table that they had moved and brought it back. Now, a table that was for four and expanded to six was not being set up for a group of nine! We have been there with four people at a square table with pop up leaves. Six is a squeeze, nine is pure monetary greed. Nine were seated next to us as our steaks were being served. The waiter was unbelievably apologetic and the general manager also came and announced that we could be moved. I looked at him and said 'now?, we have our dinner'. As good as a slap in the face, the executive director moved the group of nine because they complained, as well. Not once did he apologize, not once did he do anything to accommodate us. What a disgrace! What complete disrespect to a customer and a long-time client of The Palm. We have 2 gift certificates to be used. I told my wife to give them to anyone. It will be a very long time before we return, if ever. There are far too many excellent steak houses within 1 mile in any direction. I will gladly give my business to Pappas Steakhouse, Del Friscos, Sullivans, Mo's and other before ever considering going back to The Palm. We have even told friends who frequent The Palm even more than we do, including some who go weekly, what happened. As a business owner, it is the customer who is always right. If I treated my customers like this I would be out of business. Some businesses think that because they are busy they can do as they please. I have been to The Palm on a Sunday night in which ten people were dining in the entire restaurant. On this night, greed took over. It makes no difference how good the food might be when they ruined the evening from start to finish. Shame on the executive director at The Palm. They fell down to the bottom of the list in service and gave me no reason to ever return. To date, after my wife's writing to the executive director as well as the corporate office, there has not been a reply whatsoever. The Palm is now a buyer beware landmark. By the way, I took photos with my phone. Not a pretty site.

What a wonderful dining experience.

By Lori S |

It was out first time going to The Palm and it won't be our last. The service was amazing and the General Manager Joe really made us feel welcome and appreciated. There was 3 of us and two of us split the lobster and the 3rd person ordered the steak. The lobster was big and tasty while the strip steak was fabulous! We ordered the creamed spinach which I loved and the potatoes were a hit with all 3 of us. I have always wanted to go here but never did and when I finally did it was truly a wonderful experience all the way around.

Special night at The Palm

By Rickhou2011 |

The famous renovated restaurant keeps its tradition of good food in a pleasant and modern environment. the service is good but impersonal.

Great food, outstanding service

By SLYCAST |

We visited The Palm during Valentine's Day weekend so I expected crowds and mediocre service. But when we got there, it was crowded and the hostess desk was so professional and honest about there being a wait despite making a reservation. We ordered the bone-in ribeye, creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes. All were excellent and the service was top-notch despite the restaurant being so busy. I was also very entertained by the other clientele here.

Slipping but Still Good

By JOHN L |

The Palm was the original best steakhouse in town but has slipped. The facility is often overly boisterous. Their loyalty program has been devalued. The steak is very good, others have excellent.

Always fantastic

By dallas101_13 |

The food and service are always top notch at The Palm restaurants and The Palm in Houston lived up to its name. The waiter was knowledgable and attentive and handled our special requests. I had carpaccio and crab cakes and both were outstanding, as was the super moist chocolate cake. The crab cakes were particularly good because there was not a lot of breading. The carpaccio was thinly sliced and the pamesan fresh. My dinner companions split lobster and steak and enjoyed them as well. We shared the hash brown potatoes with sautéed onions on top. They were terrific! The wine selection is comprehensive, though be prepared for high prices by the glass. That didn't detract at all from the delicious food and great ambience. I will go there again on future trips to Houston.

Omg....

By singsis1 |

Start with palm salad. Not on menu. Loved it. Then tried lamb. Omg... And steamed broccoli done perfect. Business partner did now show up ate alone thank God. He would have asked for a bite. Would not have shared ;)-

Unhappy

By txdine |

Not one of our better experiences. My wife and I went to diner at The Palm on Saturday night with two other couples. The two other couples all had birthdays, which I indicated on the reservations. I again stressed this to the management, while being seated. The Palm did nothing at all to acknowledge these four birthdays. In addition, our water glasses were allowed to go empty, paper straws (which get waterlogged and collapse) were provided instead of the plastic straws we requested (told this is a California trend moving across the country...."Hello" this is Texas not California), veal parmigiana portions were noticeably smaller, hash brown potatoes were burnt and after the staff could not properly correct we were informed this is the way The Palm always serve their hash browns. As bad as all that sounds, the lobster was delicious and both sweet and tender. Everyone did enjoyed their lobster very much, but not enough to ignore the way we were treated. Sadly, this is a trend I have noticed at The Palm recently. Their staff no longer appears to correct issues brought to their attention by customers. Instead, they listen to the complaint, make a few excuses and offer no real solution to any issue a customer might present to them. This same process has happened to me on at least three occasions over the last year or two and the two couples joining us also have had similar experiences recently at The Palm. Shame om me for allowing this to happen more than twice (every restaurant is allowed an off-night) and for arguing with a staff that does not listen or believe their customer is always right! Saturday will be the last time this happens, because we will be dinning elsewhere. There are just too many excellent steakhouses in Houston and there is no need to deal with these issues when spending good money.

Excellent experience following the remodel

By Dad-3X |

This place has definitely picked it up a notch following their remodel. The new restaurant and staff are excellent and up to par with Tim Seymore and the staff in Tyson's Corner Virginia!

Premier Restaurant ICON !!!

By Rockdoc7 |

This restaurant has been on the scene for decades and has held its reputation as one of the top in town. It is a great place to do business with excellent service. The food is superb. I had the petite fillets which were cooked to perfection with sauteed vegetables, Great selection of wine. Great place to dine and be seen

Mama Mia That's Italian!

By VIEQUESBEACHBUM |

I am a loyal Palm customer, 837 member and have spent a small fortune at this restaurant over the years. I have always wanted to try the "Family Specialty" Chicken Parmesan dish which I did last week at a dinner meeting. I have to say the dish was awe-full. sure it covers the plate, is very cheesy and looked great when delivered. However that is where reality ended. The chicken was of" rubber chicken" consistency and the sauce gave me massive acid re-flux that night. We like to go to the palm because of the nice patio after dinner to have a cigar and a after dinner drink. I have to say as a group we decided that we would eat somewhere else and come back to the Palm for drinks only

Good, but upscale

By Callmephil |

This place is pricey but the food and service are good. We were there for a business lunch and the server was discrete in serving our group without interrupting our conversation.

A guarantee

By IF121824 |

I have known this restaurant chain for many years, it never leaves me disappointed Excellent meat, professional staff and attentive to every customer need. We were followed by Hannah, a lovely girl and very good at advising us on the various courses that offered the menu. Price in line with the type of restaurant offered, on average $100 per person excluding tips Dress vide mandatory

Great place to celebrate your birthday!

By Lynn M |

Over the years, we have gone many times for my birthday to the Palm. This year we went to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had received a mailer advertising a $99 lobster special where you got a lobster for two, plus two starters and one side. We decided to split this whereby I got the lobster and one of the starters (I chose Caesar salad which I just love - salad is cold and the plates are too!). He ordered a steak, but also got one of the special starters (he, too, chose the Caesar salad) and we split the side dish (which was a delicious corn dish that we had never had at the Palm before). We also ordered an extra side of creamed Spinach (not my cup of tea, but he loves it). And, of course, wine. Our server was Omar who we have known forever, back in the day when he was the young man cracking the lobsters! So many of the crew here (Omar, Dario, Julio, etc.) have been working at the Palm forever, so it is a mini reunion when we dine here. Before dining, we sat up at the bar and had a drink first. We were serviced by Jennifer who was absolutely delightful. People watching at the Palm is a must! I shan't put it into words here, but just go and see for yourself. It is a great form of entertainment.

great atmosphere and interiors

By kelly c |

Easy to find and park. We chose to sit in a booth by the bar. It was not loud like most bar areas. Beautiful interiors. Impeccable service. It is an expensive option but totally worth every dime.

Underwheming

By Rael E |

First time to go there since their do over. The decor is certainly improved, lighter and airier. The service was excellent. That's unfortunately where for us it went downhill. Starters were boring and bland. 3 of the 4 of us had the variety of fishes. The 4th had the lamb chops. His proved the axiom never eat anything but meat in a steakhouse. His apparently wasn't bad. Our fish was overcooked and swimming in oil. The best part of the entrees were the sides of spinach and mushrooms. One of our party ordered the fried onion rings which were hands down the best part of the entire meal. Desert for us consisted of their doughnuts....great with ice cream and chocolate sauce and some of kind of chocolate cake..dry and not very good. The coffee was excellent! In summary we enjoyed the doughnuts, fried onion rings and coffee. The rest was subpar. And the meal was way overpriced. It's one thing to pay top dollar for something good but not for this. Save your money and go elsewhere. There are too many other good restaurants in Houston from which to choose!

Awesome food

By Melinda B |

Went for dinner with a friend and it was amazing!!! The stuffed lobster was to die for!! Will definitely go back!!!

Disappointed

By Patrick R |

August 21, 2016 my sister and I took my parents here for there 50th anniversary. We were offered and accepted a private room for an extra 5%. which was ok. The service was ok and the food ok until we got home. Of the twelve of us that ate that night nine of us had "stomach issues." Not real bad, but there were issues. I can live with this--stuff happens--where the disappointment comes in is when I called to notify, I talked to someone at the front that said someone would get back to me. No one ever did.

Always Great!

By Furnman61 |

My wife and i went to the Palm last night for a wine dinner after not being there for a long time and i must say we were glad to be back. The courses were delicious and the Prisoner Wine Co gave a generous amount of pours and they were all awesome. The service was spot on as well and we met some great people. Cant wait to go back!

Disappointed

By Jim D |

Quality of steaks was below our expectations. Nice decor, good service, but food quality was certainly not up to the price of the meal. Selection of wines by the glass was limited and very over-priced.

Can't believe the low rating

By foodie |

We went for a nice dinner and were extremely pleased overall. The rating should be much higher in my opinion. I had the shrimp cocktail which as as good as it gets. The veal martini with an asparagus side was fabulous and too much food for me. I wish I could have finished it. My friend loves this place and it is not hard to see why. The wait staff was excellent and we both had a great night. I would highly recommend going here.

Recently Renovated

By Mechudo |

Fabulous food and service, but the new dining room next to the bar was very noisy. It seems the crowd´s voices bounce from the ceiling and multiplies the cacophony. Ask for a table in the main dining room which is also noisy, but less so. The atmosphere is decidedly New York with a Texas flair and high prices to match.

Step back

By Curt O |

Going down hill fast, felt like Dennys food was not the standard of price point. Not the Palms we love in other cities

Valentine's Dinner

By Q4869BRdavidb |

My spouse and I enjoyed a dinner here for Valentine's. Nice experience. Good service. can recommend. Pricey

Too noisy but food mostly OK

By TAMAN1951 |

Very expensive and generally good quality but one appetizer was cold and wait staff happily fixed the problem. My prime rib was very good but portion size too large. Other steaks were fine and prepared as ordered. Lobster was delivered cold and had to be sent back. Deserts and sides were good but chocolate cake had been refrigerated. Service was very good but for the money there are better steak houses in Houston.

No so good today

By dabaker542 |

I've dined at the Palm many times so at lunch today I commented to my guest how great the food always is. No so much today. While delivering the food, our waiter told us that they were "out" of mashed potatoes, but they were bringing au gratin potatoes. How can a steakhouse, at 12:30 pm, be out of mashed potatoes? Can't they boil more? It sounds trivial, but it ruined my lunch. On top of that, the steaks were tough.

The VEAL MARSALA!

By EvilScubaKitty |

This is the only restaurant that I have had veal Marsala prepared correctly. Simply amazing. It is the standard that I think of every time I order it elsewhere, yes, its that good. The ambiance is dark, cool and sexy. Definitely a place to people watch. The service is always spot on. They are knowledgeable and friendly. Its priced above average because it is.

Old Standby, Better Than Ever

By Ironman713 |

We’ve been here three times recently and have had a wonderful experience each time. We shared lobsters and steaks on two occasions and I had a veal chop on the third. The lobsters were ample size and prepared properly with the moist and tender meat throughout. We ordered our strip steaks and veal chop medium, they were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy with tasty seasoning. We had Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and mushrooms for sides. They were huge portions and all delicious. For dessert, we share the NY style cheesecake, a real treat. The Palm have recently revised their wine list. It has a nice variety at various price points. And the prices for some of our faves, which we would not ever purchase at the old prices, have now been reduced to reasonable levels. For the collector/connoisseur, you can still byob for a $35 corkage fee The atmosphere leans mores casual than elegant, not at all stuffy. The new manager, Leslie is a breath of fresh air. During our recent visits, Leslie greeted each diner upon arrival, and checked on every table at least twice during the meal service. Her smile and upbeat personality are genuine and infectious. There are many top steakhouses to choose in Houston. This has made it back to number one on our list.

Relax!

By Patricia B |

We stopped in for a nightcap and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the professionalism of the staff and people watching. The atmosphere is casual elegance.

Great Food and Value

By Dell T |

Mother and Daughters lunch. All had wonderful food. Selection for lunch is large. Business lunch is great value. Great service! One of our favorite restaurants.

Not good value; inconsistent

By geh725 |

I've been trying hard to like the Palm. It's right around the corner from my house, and I'm just looking for a premium restaurant with good food, drinks and service, for which I'm very happy to pay. In December, I had a wonderful experience with a waiter and even joined their 836 club. They have a new general manager who I thought was turning around the historically poor service. I have been three times since, even doing a client dinner with them, and each time the service has been disappointing. One time the waiter padded the bill with a desert we didn't order. On my visit last night, it was a new waiter, and although she tried real hard, at some point you come to the conclusion that, if you're spending over $100 a person, the experience should be better. I ordered a martini with a twist and got an olive. My wife wanted a malibu and cranberry, but they don't stock coconut rum (how can a top end bar not have that?). My daughter's lemonade was undrinkable. The chop chop salad is definitely something not to order. The 4lb lobster was good, but seemed like there should have been more meat. The steaks are generally decent. My wife's veal Parmesan and the potatoes au gratin were awesome and sinful. Atmosphere is pretty good, with Palm's classic drawings of local celebrities, but the walls don't absorb sounds, so it gets very loud and often difficult to hear. Service was inattentive, did not bring my child's entree with the appetizer as requested, and needs to be better. I don't know how a restaurant that prices at the top of the market can have such bad service. They must not be paying for talent or failing in training. We were celebrating the birthdays of my wife, son and daughter, which are all within two weeks of each other (with my son home from college), and the restaurant offered no complimentary acknowledgement. As an 836 member, the main benefit appears to be able to buy exclusive bottles of wine, which has personally small benefit, but not apparently any special recognition or even having the waiters address you by name. In any event, I'm moving on and will make the drive to Brennan's, where the food and the service leave you satisfied.

Outstanding

By VSandifer |

The Palm restaurant is a tradition for my husband’s birthday because the lobster is a must have and the staff is exceptional! They really go out of their way to make their guest feel special.

Really the Best !

By Sharon F |

This is as good as it gets - the best creative dishes and the staff treats you like a queen. I go there to luxuriate when I have some extra money and I do not dress as expensively as some of their clients but am always treated like a queen - classy everything here

Excellent Steak & Lobster!

By Dawntrills |

I love the new look of this restaurant. They have updated to an elegant yet comfortable sleekness. Keeping some of the more interesting decor in just the right amount to feel a kinship with the elder establishment. Sublime new bar area! The steaks are tender and full of flavor. The sides come in sizes to share. The Lobster is divine. They are open on Sunday's!

Summer lobster special

By Suzanne W |

My husband I dined last night at the Palm. We had not been before. We were originally assigned to the table by the hostess stand but asked for another. We were then shown in to the back room which lacked ambiance. Finally we were seated at a red leather couched booth and enjoyed the people watching and comfort from our perch. I had a fantastic vodka, cucumber, and basil martini. We shared a nice bottle of a Merlot and Sangiovese blend. We ordered the summer lobster special for two, $80 for a starter, lobster and two sides. Our server made a requested substitution with no problem. The server removed the meat from the lobster shell for us and gave us silly bibs to wear - fun. We had the chocolate cake and carrot cake - neither of which were excellent. The floor is slippery so don't wear your sky high Jimmy Choos. The bar looked like a popular place to be.

Excellent service provided by Tony.

By St_Matty |

First time visiting this restaurant. I really enjoyed the food, and Tony, our server for the evening was extremely good. I had the prime porterhouse steak, which was delicious, accompanied by the Italian herb hand cut fries. Prices were around the same to the other restaurants nearby.

Worst service

By ada d |

We had not been to The Palm in a long time, so we decided to give it a try. First of all it is extremely noisy and dark, we were seated almost immediately but we sat there for at least 45 minutes before anybody acknowledged we were even there. We ordered some wine, and about half an hour later, the waiter comes to let us know they don't have it. So we ordered something else. We waited more for our sever to come back, and when he finally did, we had been there for about an hour. This restaurant DOES NOT separate their cooking oil from cooking other foods that have been deep fried, as in fried fish or fried seafood. One needs to ASK because they won't tell you and if you have allergies, they can kill you if your allergies are severe. I don't understand why restaurants are not careful. This should not be allowed in ANY restaurant. They should cook their fish separately, their meats separately and their chicken separately, not to mention their french fries and onions. So other than poor service, I would say to be careful when eating here if you have allergies. The food was very bad, as if nobody cared for presentation or flavor. we will never go back.

Fancy, expensive comfort food that is well worth it!

By Darthguppy |

We went on Christmas night since I didn't want to cook. We left the restaurant feeling gastronomically fulfilled by one 5 lbs lobster (for me), one 3 lbs lobster (for him), a few side dishes and an 8 oz filet. Grant that I'm under 100 lbs, the huge 5 lbs critter was mine alone and I had to bring the left over home. My boyfriend devoured his (surf & turf) in no time. The 35-day dried aged filet was tremendously soft and flavourful. We ordered rare since killing the meat twice is sinful. The lobsters were heavenly sweet—fresh (as it could be) and juicy. Love it! Everybody works there are wonderful, polite and friendly.

Really gone down hill

By Reagan S |

I used to really enjoy this restaurant.. It's expensive, casually upscale. Last time was probably the final visit for me. We ordered a large strip steak, cocktails, wine, appetizers and entrees plus split a large lobster tail. The lobster tail was so overcooked it was dry and mealy. The steaks were both overcooked from medium rare that was ordered. the drinks and wine are so expensive you can spend less and get the same thing elsewhere with better food. This place has totally fallen off from when it was so good just a few years back.

Great Lobster

By TAMAN1951 |

The caprese salad was made with awesome tomatoes, very flavorful. Nice homemade mozzarella. Lobster bisque is creamy and delightful. Lobster was huge and cooked to perfection. Nicely charred Brussel sprouts. Finished off with a fresh key lime pie. Attentive service. Reasonable prices (not cheap by any means).

The Palm never disappoints!!!

By lana7continents |

We always enjoy the summer lobster special at The Palm. Not to be missed... but they are also putting on great "special nights" -- we recently went to the Crawfish Night. It was a huge success. They not only had big servings of freshly boiled crawfish, potatoes and corn, but also had a prime rib station and a beautiful steak station (rime cut) of steak -- but also a empanada station and dessert station with 3 different selections. The crawfish tickets included five beers. There was live jazz and many were inspired to dance. A fun time wa s had by all, as they say. The service was impeccable, as always. Other special nights have included scotch night, and a champagne night. Don't miss out.

Change of owner... More expensive

By AUSAGUY007 |

The owners changed months back... Tillman owns it now... Now it's 30 to 40 percent more expensive for the same food lol The salad is still good lol but too expensive lol

Best restaurant in town!

By L L |

We celebrated my brother's 50th birthday at The Palm and everyone truly went out of their way to make this a wonderful celebration. We started in the bar and the service and drinks were impeccable. When it was time for our reservation, we moved to the dining area and were greeted by our waiter immediately. Presentation of all of the food was perfect and the taste was even better! We had oysters on the half shell, Filet Oscar, Lobster Gnocchi, and cheesecake. Couldn't have asked for a better time. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent Business Spot

The staff is always first class! The food never disappoints and the atmosphere is perfect for business meals. The Palm will always be my first choice.

Improved

By Rose |

We now have new managers who truly care about service and quality. They are even enthusiastic. The steaks can’t be beat. They are truly prime beef; not tenderized to fool. The lobster is always a special treat.

Delightful Lunch

RV trip stopover in Houston. Long leisurely late lunch at a fine place, with impeccable wait service. Prime Chop Chop salad was delicious with the garlic vinagarette. Plenty of prime rib cooked perfectly. Decadent melt in your mouth flourless chocolate cake.

Fall from Grace.

By David L |

I and my wife have been going to the Palm in Houston for 30 years. Usually we are there to celebrate something by ordering their steak and lobster. We went there at the end of November for such an occassion. However, when we got there we were told they were out of lobster. The Palm out of the one thing that makes them relatively unique. We tried again on Dec. 30. We sat in the bar area to listen to the live music. That was nice, but on the TVs instead of having a major bowl game to watch they had a dart tournament and a CNBC show. We started with the caesar salad. It appeared that the Palm had changed its own salad dressing recipe because this salad did not have the same flavor as past Palm caesars. We ordered the steak and lobster. I bit into the steak ($72 NY strip done medium rare) and mentioned to my wife that I found it a little chewy and certainly not high steak house caliber. Shortly thereafter I started having reflux. I could not keep any of the food down. We ended the meal and went home. The next day I could still not keep any food or even water down. A DR. had me go to an emergency room. After hours of waiting I saw a specialist who put a camera down my throat and found that the chewy steak had become stuck to my esophagus. They were able to remove it. With the many choices for a steak restaurant in Houston, I cannot see ever going back there.

always good food and service

By Harris14 |

We have been eating here for many years. The Palm in Houston is always very good. Expensive but worth it. There are many Palm's across the country but Houston's feels more cozy and friendly. All food and drinks great. My favorite is the lamb chops but steaks are also great. What sets it apart is the consistent value.

Great Service - Disappointing Planning

By Nicole G |

Nice restaurant with excellent service, but a disappointing event planning experience. I hosted an event here on a Sunday. The restaurant itself was lovely and practically empty, which made for a quiet atmosphere. The staff was amazing, and the service was top-notch throughout the event. However, my experience working with the event planning team was frustrating. While conversations were detailed and seemed promising, the execution fell short. I strongly recommend getting everything in writing and not relying solely on verbal agreements or detailed discussions. Because of the planning issues, I wouldn’t choose to host another event here despite the great service on the day itself. This is unfortunate because all of my guests could be potential customers!

Excellent Steak House

I was at the Palm on for a diplomatic luncheon. The and service were excellent. The decor was excellent. The salmon and broccoli was excellent. The cheesecake is delicious!!!!!!!

expensive but worth once a year

By bryanmantezoni |

We came to this place with a gift voucher of 200, it only covered our plates and a couple of drinks so be ready to spend some $...everything here was amazing, the customer service, the food, the restrooms were immaculate, I have no words to say how wonderful this place was. Pricey but highly recommended.

Always a great dinner.

By L7165HPlauras |

We were trying to do something special for our wedding anniversary when I thought why take a chance let’s go to The Palm. Food and service outstanding. When we first got there I realized I had forgotten a sweater. We are in the sticky hot days of Houston but hello air conditioning 🤗. they not only had a sweater for me to borrow it was cute and fit. We shared a 3lb lobster and 9oz filet. It was beautifully served and the waitstaff took out the claw meat table side. We had broccoli Rabelais the side. That much protein we couldn’t manage any of their great salads or starters. Our great server brought us a glass of champagne 🥂 on the House.

Wife's Birthday & Mother's Day Dinner

By AGGIEDMN |

This is an updated review from my previous one from two weeks ago. I took my wife back to The Palm and invited her parents along for an early Mother's Day on Saturday evening. Leslie was there to greet us and had us seated in a wonderful booth. Felipe was our waiter and he was very personable. My In-Laws have never been to The Palm and were very impressed with the service and overall experience of the restaurant. Leslie and Felipe made us felt like family and were very attentive. I am pretty critical when it comes to service & food so they exceeded my expectations. Thank you for making our experience a happy one! We will definitely be back.

Seeing Red at My Lobster

By FilsProdigue |

The ambiance is lovely - but you can’t eat or drink it. The entertainment was pleasant but competed with conversation. The server was sweet but couldn’t pronounce the names of the dishes and despite the very limited number of patrons was slow with cocktails and the meal. Ever wonder how Palm lobsters manage to be exactly 3, 4, or 5 pounds? Tonight I was served an emaciated four pound lobster for $138 - couldn’t have been three. The $344.78 check+ $70 tip = $414.78 for three persons. Check-out the photo of Guinness Book of Records Smallest Slice of Key Pie ever - $13. Wait! And $10 valet charge! $424.78 all in for three. I won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend it. Very poor value proposition.

Winner of worst dining experience 2014!

By 117Teresa |

Came for a holiday celebration and began in bar. Had confirmed dinner reservations for 7PM. Bar service was mediocre. Had to send back 2 Manhattan's that were nothing like the first ones ordered.Only bright spot was Calamari and Blue cheese chips.Seating for dinner began the downward spiral. Tried to first give us a noisy front table, but we were able to BEG our way to a back booth.Had to wait for the waitress with the attitude. We asked for the sommelier and she stated he was somewhere. She was rude we we did not want to hear her wine recommendations. We decided to leave and the staff was clueless as they thanked us for our patronage as we exited the door. Went to Del Frisco's down the street and had the holiday celebration we hoped for!

Delicious Steak, Service and Personnel.

By Frada B |

We celebrated a birthday here. It is not your everyday restaurant so save it for a celebration unless you like to spend the big bucks. We had fabulous steaks, fish and yummy cheesecake. We'd told them that we were celebrating a birthday. When we arrived there was a card for the birthday girl. She was also presented with her own special dessert. Great place, people and food!

Restaurant Week

By Scenic790659 |

My friend & I went for restaurant week. The dinner menu for the promotion was $55/person. They offered a four course meal with several options. I ordered the cesar salad, chicken parmigiana, masked potatoes and tiramisu for dessert. The portions were very generous. Also, I didn't know the chicken came with a side of pasta. Our server Tony was very attentive. Brian, the general manager, stopped by to check on us as well. Hadn't been to the Palm in 40 years,, but won't wait that long to return.

The Palin Houston Experience

By louise_c_houston |

I recently atended a Wine Dinner (Antinori) at The Palm in Houston. The food slected for the event was outstanding, as usual, and the attention to detail in organinzing the event and ensuring the Guests' satisfaction was excellent. I have attended other such events and have been consistently pleased. Their regular and bar menus when just dining at The Palm always assure an enjoyable dining experience.

Pathetic and disappointed

By TideX18 |

Was there for business dinner and to start off the service was very disappointing. Had to repeatedly ask for silverware. We ordered steaks and the quality of meat was very poor, especially for the price we paid. Then to top it off the attire of a large party of girls in the room was embarrassing. They should have been seated in another room. Hard to conduct a business dinner with a side show going on. I’ve dined at Palms across the country and this is by far the worst dinning experience. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come with Palm. I definitely won’t be back to this one especially for the price you pay.

Great Steak

By KendraTravels |

We had a private room here to have our company Christmas party. The staff were very nice and friendly and made a great "red" martini cocktail. The menu selection was excellent. I started with a kale and apple salad. It was very good. Then I had the filet and I really loved the au gratin potatoes. Everything else was just average. The cheesecake was a huge disappointment. Cheesecake is my favorite and I can usually find the good in any cheesecake. However, I only took two bites. It was terrible. It's certainly a place I'll go again on my own to get a real feel for the dining experience.

Great Restaurant and Atmosphere

By Danny P |

I thought The Palm was awesome. I thought it was in the top 3 of higher end steakhouses that I've tried in Houston. We will definitely be back. I had the Lobster and my wife had the ribeye, and both of us were very impressed. The sides were good and the dessert was excellent. I saw several other reviews referring to the atmosphere, but we really enjoyed it. The restaurant is a littler louder than most, but we were still able to carry on our conversations without any problem and found it a rather energetic scene.

Great Steaks

By Donald R |

Had dinner here and had a very nice time. The waiter was nice, friendly, and courteous. Always around to attend to any need. Had the 45 day dry aged steak. The flavor and texture is different from a regular steak, but the flavor is very nice. The wine paring was great. The parking and access is very easy from Westheimer.

mediocre and disappointing

By Eexplorer-P |

Attended an event at the palm. I have to admit that the wine was the only descent thing I had there. The appetizer that was served (Green salad) was completely tasteless. some greens with 2 slices of tomatoes with no or minimal dressing. For entree I had the Salmon. What can I say? It takes a talent to ruin a Salmon, but yes, this one was bad. Other people had the fillet that looked poor on the plate. I left before the desert and I am sure I did not miss anything. There are definitely better places within 100 yard radius.

Disappointed

By robert k |

Had dinner reservations for 6:30 pm. Arrived and immediately seated. Dining room appeared only moderately busy, certainly not bustling. Server appeared promptly and took cocktail orders. Server reappeared and asked about an appetizer order which we placed, crab cakes. Still no cocktails appeared. A single crab cake was served followed by our cocktails. No explanation as to the cocktail delay. Crab cake was tasty but quite dense and again only one served. Server took entree order, 8oz filet and petite lobster tail for both. Medium. Server never reappeared until we asked the water glass filler to fetch him. Kitchen staff served the meal and the front of house leader finally showed up and took our dinner drink orders. Steak was fine and properly cooked, nothing special. Lobster was cold and rubbery. Bread had obviously been reheated numerous times. We didn’t stick around for desert or after dinner drinks. Very pricey indeed and a disappointing experience. Will avoid in the future.

An Energizing menu with top notch staff will not disappoint!!!

By red11hed |

You will be flying high the moment you step into the doors of The Palm on Westheimer Rd.... The menu is super energizing from delicious steaks that melt in your mouth to their award winning Maine LOBSTER... It's a great place for romance or to bring the kids. We love the bar around happy-hour with all the professionals meeting afterwards. Whatever your mood they will not disappoint...

Saturday night before Super Bowl

By Brenda N |

The Palm in Houston did not hold up on the big night before super bowl. They over extended the reservations and could not handle the crowd. They did have a big group party as well as regular reservations. We waited 45 minutes to be seated, another 20 - 25 minutes for water and menus and then an hour for our food. If food had been great, we would have been more pleased but it was just average for a nice steakhouse. One of the managers stopped by to apologize and offered desserts but at 11 pm, we were not excited about desserts. We had a very nice server and certainly understood it was not her fault. You might consider another option for holidays and other special events.

I love Lobster Day

By TheaTX |

Went to the palm because it was lobster day and they had a special on 3lb lobster for only $59 and like always I was not disappointed. My husband and daughter shared the lobster which was delicious and I had a filet. Everything was great, the manager came by several times to make sure everything was going well. Make sure not to miss the sides as well, my favorite the au gratin potatoes. we skipped appetizers to make room for dessert, I had the crème brulee (fantastic) and my husband and daughter had the chocolate cake.

Wine Prices are Ridiculous

By AJB830 |

We had a great meal today on Thanksgiving Day. We skipped the turkey and ordered the traditional Lobster, Lamb Chops and Filet. All really good. Great service too. No complaints, except... The wine prices here are ridiculously high. Seriously. It keeps me from coming back. We came as it was open for Thanksgiving but the wine prices lead me to prefer many of the other steakhouses in town. Note to the owners: YOUR WINE PRICES ARE TOO HIGH.

Love it!

By Jackie F |

Whenever we're in Houston we go to this restaurant. The ceasar salad is the best, the mashed potato is to die for, the cheesecake it's a must. I don't eat meat but my husband had the lamb chops and said they were excellent. Service is friendly and professional. It's expensive but it's worth every penny.

Bad Service

By Candace B |

Was very disappointed when visiting The Palm recently. Sat al bar for drinks and food. after almost 15 minutes went to host desk to ask for assistance. A gentleman apologized and served us drinks at no charge. Short after, we had to flag the bartender down to ask for menu's, then again for a cocktail refill. We were served but did not receive a setup and had to ask for napkins and utensils. Bartender never made eye contact. Bar was not busy, nor was restaurant. This is a first for bad service at The Palm and hopefully it won't happen again, but not sure it will be a recommendation or first choice for cocktails or dinning.

Old style class and elegance

By SheryC |

This place is the bomb really. Dark wood, low lights and spacious. From the front reception staff to the wait staff they have it down to a smooth and sweet science of taking care of customers. The food tops it off as being just as tasty and well presented.

Classy Westheimer Club Dinner Spot

By VIEQUESBEACHBUM |

Had dinner here this weekend and great as usual. Our server Ramon was truly a joy to work with and opened my 1995 Chateau LaGrange without a hitch. The lobster and 28OZ Porterhouse where outstanding. With attentive service a great location and average pricing for the upscale steak places, the Palm really should be on your list. Drinks, salads, 3lb Lobster, porterhouse and sides $270+Tip. 2.5 Hours of fun!

Very elegant quality good

By Stephanie1178 |

The Palm is a great place to dine on steak or lobster. They have the large sizes and amazing presentation. The portions are large but come alacarte, so the bill adds up pretty fast. They have one of the better wine lists in Houston and the wines are appropriate for the food selections.

Lobster, lobster , lobster!

We had the Lobster Summer Special and every morsel was delicious. Caesar Salad and the crispy cottage fries were yummy. Make time to go before the special is gone.

Birthday Dinner

As always, the service, the food, and the staff was wonderful! My favorite lobster in the city. They put it on the grill after streaming, making it the best ever!

Fantastic food location and service

This steakhouse around for generations now has perfected the entire experience. Fantastic rib eye and filet, the drinks rae well made service fantastic and the vibe very cool

Has the meat changed?

By Kevin1256 |

Went to The Palm for a family birthday. Started with a 5 lb lobster as an appetizer for the table; it was excellent. Service was good as always and the sides, salads and bisque were all excellent! The meat, however, which should have been the star of the show was average. To be clear, it was cooked properly. It just wasn't the super tender favorable filet that I would expect at a top steak house.

Still Outstanding

By Ron W |

This is the first time that we've been to The Palm since they've remodeled. We arrived about 10 minutes before they opened, and one of the Bartenders (Mark) was coming in. He asked if we wanted to come in, even though they were in the process of setting up for opening. He led us to the bar and asked if we wanted anything to drink and if we did, he would "punch-in" . We were talking to Mark, telling that haven't been in since the remodel and he suggested that we look at the dining room before it got busy.. The 2 waiters Craig and Greg (I know, right?) were obviously proud and they should be, it looks great. Craig asked us which table or booth we'd like and give them a few more minutes to make sure they were ready for us. We went back to bar and settled the tab with Mark, Craig came got us and picked up our drinks. Once seated, we mentioned to Craig that we were "new" (we're both 65) to the Wine world, and had just started to enjoy. Craig suggested a couple of wines, told us the particulars of each. He wanted us not to rush and to enjoy the experience. We made the selection, and let us test first and told us if we liked the selection, that he would write them down so we could enjoy them the next time. We enjoyed the talk with Craig and it was really helpful. During the conversation, my wife mentioned that we were there to celebrate my Birthday, nothing else was said. We ordered the 22 oz. Bone Rib-eye, with the 3 potato au-Gratin(which we had last year). The steaks and sides were outstanding, the remodel is open, clean and great. After finishing the main meal, I went to the 'facilities' and on my return Craig had brought a piece of Carrot cake (which he had asked my wife when I left, what my favorite dessert was). He had taken upon himself to get approved with Manager to do this "on the house". As usual The Palm does not disappoint with food and the service was top shelf. Although it is pricey, I believe it is well worth it.. and if the other Waitstaff are as good as Craig (and the others that night), then they have nothing to worry about..We'll be back (got to celebrate the Wive's Birthday and our Anniversary)

Fun Christmas

Staff is very friendly, waiter is very polite and funny, recommended right food for us and good pick of wine and beer great fit for a good date in the holidays

Enjoyable Experience

By mjbbg572 |

Recently I was invited to a special luncheon at the renovated Palm. We were seated in a private room which was quite nice and away from all the noise of the bar and the rest of the restaurant. I ordered a very special and refreshing salad that contained cheese in between two slices of watermelon. For sure this was something that I have never ever had before. And it was amazingly good. For the entree I had the lobster BLT. There was plenty of large chunks of lobster in the huge sandwich. I am so glad I ordered the lobster BLT because some of the others at the table ordered salmon and steak. Both of those looked kind of bland. The Palm is an excellent place to impress clients and a date. But aside from that, I would probably go to another steak house for better food and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Another Palm Home Run!

By BIGDOGT33 |

Once again The Palm on Westheimer shot the lights out! All the food was to die for from appetizers to dessert. Service was outstanding, and be sure to ask for Hector as your waiter. FYI, Hector has been with the Palm for many years, and he sets the standard for service, trust me on this one. We took our time over 3 hours, and loved every minute of it!

Best business event lunch

By TexasMomTo1 |

I attended a private business event held in one of the restaurant's private rooms, and the food and service were the absolute best that I have ever had at such a business event. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious, entree, sides, and dessert. Service was awesome. If it was this good for a semi-large group/business meeting, I can only imagine how good it is when ordering from the regular menu. I can't wait to go back and try it under normal circumstances.

WOW - Gret meal..everything I expect when we go to a Palm!

By KVO1234 |

4 of us went for Thanksgiving 2017. I had the Thanksgiving special - awesome. I was bad and also had a 9oz filet as my appetizer...one of the best steaks I've had. My wife had the lump crab meat cocktail and a shrimp cocktail - again ALL we outstanding. Daughter had the Ahi Tuna and her fiancé also had a filet. Our server AJ was ACES...very personable and fun! Made our dinner even better. We've eaten at Palms all over the US - first time to this one, and for sure will not be the last! Greta job!

Disappointed

By Ray S |

Saturday night. Waiters did not (or would not) understand English. Anything outside an exact menu item was not communicated to the kitchen. A $60 dish should be cooked as desired. Steaks were OK, "prime" rib was another matter. Pricy as usual, slow srevice - not a good night for the restaurant.

Renovation = Better atmosphere and great experience

By TallSasha |

When I heard they had renovated the Houston Palm, I updated my 827 Membership which gave me my birthday special (of a free 3 lb lobster). I hadn't been back to this location in 6 years because, although the food was good, the crowd was +60yo. I returned tonight and it was amazing. We arrived early for our 7:30pm reservations and they were able to seat us. We had a fabulous, young waiter named Martin. (I plan on asking for him in the future) We started with cocktails that were really good and two appetizers.... the bacon wrapped scallops, (hard to go wrong, and it was AMAZING); and the capris salad which was equally perfect, (you will add your own olive oil and balsamic vinegar + we added a bit of salt and pepper = delicious). We then attempted to order the 827 Wine special, but they were sold out and we passed on their substitute, opting for for a French Chabils. We opted for my free lobster and a bone in Ribeye. Since he heard that we were going to share, they split both dishes in the back so the presentation was perfect. AND, so was the lobster and steak. Here is where they won over my fiance. We had ordered the lobster special at Mortan's Steak House last month, and he felt it was too much work... (and honestly, it was cold in some parts of the lobster). At The Palm, another wait staff, came over and ensured every piece of our lobster was broken and accessible. (And at the end of our meal, returned to wash our hands... even thought he did such an amazing job of breaking up the lobster, we didn't need to use any fingers). The steak was prepared perfectly, and I'm going to enjoy making the leftovers into a potato hash in the morning. We also enjoyed the spinach and the triple cheese potato au gratin (both amazingly yummy). We finished up with a key lime pie, that was unlink any I've ever had... it had blue berrry reduction on top + cinnamon ... and it was amazing. The flavors came together so well. Ultimately, this is worth trying post-renovation. Ask for Martin... we will be returning again!!

Still YUMMY!

By Lexibelle |

My wonderful Man surprised me for Valentines with reservations here. We had a booth, in a great location, very comfy and fun to people watch. Our waiter was nice & professional. I requested a shaken dirty potato vodka martini with ice chips and he delivered. We both ordered the surf (1/2 grilled lobster) & turf (filet) off the special Valentine's menu. It was very good & lots of food. ( We enjoyed delicious leftovers the next day.) As we were ordering coffee & dessert, my cousin and her date walked up to the booth next to us. The waiter graciously walked away to allow us to catch up & visit. We had a great meal with fantastic service. In addition, it was my first visit since the remodeling. I use to go to the Palm on a more regular basis for a monthly group that met there for lunch, which was surprisingly a great buy. (Keep in mind for business lunch) Another fond memory is going to the Palm with my Mom to celebrate our birthdays. We would go often and for sure every birthday to devour the big yummy lobsters. Final verdict ~ The Palm is still a great place, fun to people watch & enjoy yummy martinis, steaks and lobsters!

Private room good for business dinners

By GREEKMBA |

The newly renovated palm Houston has excellent spaces for private business dinners. The food and service is excellent and the live grilled Nova Scotia lobster should not be missed.

Average at Best

By elchaco |

My wife and I went to The Palm to try it out. Unfortunately it didn't deliver on what we were expecting. Don't get me wrong it wasn't nasty or anything, but the quality of the food was not what I expected for a restaurant of this stature. The service was great, the atmosphere was great, I only wish the food would have been great as well. With so many other restaurants around it, it's safe to say we probably won't be going back to The Palm.

Top quality spot

One of Houston's oldest upper scale restaurant with all the people painted on the wall that are their best clients.

Not impressed

By txmmoore |

I went to the Palm in downtown Houston for my daughter's birthday. I use to go to the Palm when it was on Westheimer all the time for the simple reason that the environment was fun and the service was great. The downtown location lacks here. It is more of an upscale version of the old location. Which for some, maybe their cup of tea, but for me? No. First, the characterization pictures on the wall are mainly from the old location. There are a few new ones, but that is the problem. The new pictures are of a few celebrities and that is about it. The room for additional pictures looks minimal, and I always admire looking to see who is on the wall. When I went to the downtown location, I felt followed through the restaurant while I was looking at the pictures. An uneasy feeling for certain. What upset me the most was that I sat at the bar at 6:50pm. The bartender gave me a glass of water at my request and I distinctly said "when you come back I will place a drink order with you." At 7:29pm no one had asked me what I wanted to drink. Sorry Palm, but you failed here. The bar, as its peak had no more than 10 people sitting at it. At no time did the bartender even ask "how are you doing?" This tells me a few things; I'm not dressed right, I smell, or I have the perception that i'm cheap. Well, I was dressed better than several people sitting at the bar. I took a shower before I went, so it must be the 3rd reason. Funny, as if I were cheap, I would not have gone to the Palm. I will admit the management did get involved and I was given a glass of wine on the house. It took a shopping 37 seconds to get me that glass of wine. So, why couldnt the bartender do this? A mystery that may never get solved. As for the food goes, it was the typical Palm flare. Nothing was a "knock your socks" off taste, but the food service was A+. I gave my LSC number to the waiter, and as far as I know, I never got credit for my $678 I spent. Not that it matters, but just another loophole in the system. In my opinion, I will probably go back, but only if its a special occasion. Houston has many top notch steakhouses, and I always consider the Palm as one of them. But, after this event, it has moved down my list. Tonight, I will go to the Taste of Texas only because I know the Palm is just a steakhouse. For the folks at the Palm...step up your game!

Phenomenal POWER Lunch!

By sly112408 |

I have been going to the palm for some time now and am never disappointed. If you are in the mood for lunch, an amazing business power lunch is the way to go! Where are you going to get an amazing 3 course meal for $25.50? I went in last week and had a classic Caesar, chicken parmigiana, vegetable of the day and a slice of NY style cheesecake. The food and service were what one would expect of a fine dining establishment, perfect. All of my needs and expectations were taken care of and I even had the pleasure of meeting a gentleman by the name of Jim Martin. I had no idea, but he was here when the palm first opened! If you need a drink, as Chris to pour you a cocktail! In my opinion, one of the best bartenders in the city. The time you are in there, see these two gentleman and I promise you will jot be disappointed.

Great steaks

This is an old staple in the Houston steak world offering prime steaks in a a great environment. The bar is a great people watching perch. The steaks are amazing the stil and filets are very well preparedl. Serivce is a return to times when the works meant something . Foods guys for keeping up the tradition.

Traditionally Perfect

By Richard J |

What a perfect experience. Very attentive, professional and welcoming Host. She was so courteous to notice our attire and replace the white napkins with black ones as proper etiquette requires, but is rarely performed. She asked us of our preference for a table (although we had reservations) thoughtful as we preferred a cozy booth. What a perfect calm and relaxing atmosphere. Server immediately served us ice water and delivered the wine list with a thoughtful introduction. Waiter was very professional and served us better than most. Servers presented our Lobster Bisque ceremoniously and the great presentation was justified because the flavor of this glorious soup made my mind drift to New England. Lamb chops were perfect. Crab was perfect. Wine served perfectly. Vegetables were cooked to perfection (asparagus grilled and Brussels sprouts). Nothing was remiss in attention to our table. For before meal drinks, wine with meal, two entrees, two appetizers, two vegetables and all with gratuities around $285 Can't wait to return.

Wine Dinner

By texasgolfmom |

This was our first wine dinner at The Palm but not our first with Reynolds Family. They've been a favorite of ours for many years & we visit them often when in Napa every year. We discovered The Palm while in New York City & were stunned to realize we had a location in Houston we were previously unaware of (we live in the suburbs so can be a bit out of touch about restaurants in town). We enjoyed the evening very much! The dinner was wonderful & the pairings were lovely. The staff was very attentive & helpful - they went over & beyond to be sure we had a perfect evening. A special thanks to Tino, Ronnie, Omar & Julio as well as to Lauren Liermann who was awesome. We were so happy to meet her & look forward to seeing her on future visits - it was truly a fantastic event.

Newly remodeled and just as good.

By AlanD9635 |

We haven't been to the Palm in years. They've totally remodeled the place and it's just as classy and good as we remembered. They're known for great steaks and seafood and I don't think you'll be disappointed. My wife and I split a 4 pound lobster. I must admit I was surprised when our server asked if we wanted a male or a female lobster! Seriously! I guess the female lobster is supposed to be sweeter. It was excellent and the server totally split the lobster open so we didn't have to work to finish it. It's not cheap, but it's a perfect place for a special occasion.

Dinner at the Palm

By jrpjr007 |

The world is full of steak houses. Houston, Texas is steak country! There is, however, no venue that does it better than the venerable Palm Restaurant. This is true of the Palms located around the US, but particularly in Houston, aka the steak capital of the country. The manager, Jimmy Martin, has run the operation since 1977. As one ages, a truism becomes self-evident; old things are best. The Palm in Houston is proof of that.

Worst Experience!!

By OakvilleLover |

Went to The Palm last week for lunch, to enjoy the "Houston Restaurant Week", we were greeted and taken to our table, our waiter (Omar) greeted us and took our drinks order (at the moment I was undecided so I ordered water). we reviewed the menu and requested to see the HRW Menu.. After this, we spent about 20 minutes with no one coming to our table, I wanted a glass of Prosecco, could not order it, had a question about the Menu selections, could not ask it.. Around us, everybody was getting their plates, bread basket, drinks and nothing to us.. not even a bread basket.. It felt as if The Palm is not interested in serving the HRW Menu, at least not for lunch, maybe for Dinner which is more expensive.. We left cash on the table to pay for the glass of read wine plus a little extra for "tip" and left the restaurant. Went to Artisano for lunch, AWESOME option, we also requested the HRW Menu (to compare, as we did at The Palm), but decided to order something else from their regular menu. Some restaurants still don't know the meaning of "service".. Don't waste your money/time here..

Low Quality Food

By Global_Identity |

I had heard many good things about this Palm location, and have had good experiences at other Palm restaurants. But the food we were served was similar in quality and taste to what you could get at a cafeteria. And based on that, is extremely overpriced. The service was good, and the folks working there were friendly enough. But the food quality was very disappointing.

Great food, great people, great experience

By lth0 |

Great experience, great food, and great service. Went there for dinner last night and they were 100% on everything from service to food and everything in between. Even the valet guy was great beginning and end. Was greeted by Tony, who sat us and continually checked with us throughout our evening. And as a pleasant surprise, got to see big Jim, who was over at the Westheimer location for like 30 years. Our waiter Ramon was prompt in bringing us water and bread prior to ordering. Starting with the food, we ordered as appetizers, the meatball and the bacon appetizer. Both were amazing. The meatball was tender and flavorful, and that thick cut bacon was wonderful. For our main course, we ordered a 4 pound female, lobster, chicken Parmesan, spaghetti with oil and garlic, and some creamed spinach. We of course, had to take some home with us. The lobster was just amazing. Probably the best in all OF HOUSTON. And for 4 pounds, I thought it to be reasonably priced. The chicken Parmesan also probably the best in Houston. Was wonderful last night and every time I’ve ever had it there. The pasta was al dente and perfectly cooked. The cream spinach is also some of the best that I’ve had in Houston. For dessert we had the cheesecake which was also excellent. Our waiter Ramon was attentive and always there when we needed him. Also, when the lobster was brought I cannot remember the waiter’s name, but he did a great job of cracking the majority of it so it was easy to navigate on the plate. At the end of the evening on our way out, Tony was kind enough to give us a tour of the entire restaurant. It is deceivingly large. He showed us through each of the private rooms which have a different theme and we were extremely impressed. And as a bonus, the GM, Brian sent us a thank you email the following morning. You don’t see that with the restaurants these days. Very impressed. Can 100% recommend the PALM HOUSTON for their food and their service and just an overall wonderful experience. And again they have the best lobster in all OF HOUSTON. We will be back.

Reasonable steak house

By djfowler |

This is a straight forward up market steak restaurant. They are not breaking any ground here. Salads, steaks, seafood. The prices are a little high and the serves are very large. This is an upmarket locals venue where people have birthdays and take clients for dinner. Service was as you expect in a venue of this style. I would say the food leans to quantity over quality a little.

Nice atmosphere high end quality

By Stephanie1178 |

Great stop, expensive but worth. They carry the prime meat cuts but ask because some of the menu is choice. Wonderful wine list and appetizers. Great service but you have to open up your wallet . This is a higher end treat.

Bad service night?

By TONI G |

We came the night after Valentines Day and the service was terrible. It took the waiter at least 30 minutes to make his first appearance at our table. We then ordered drinks and again it took quite a long time....one member of our party never got the drink he ordered. We ordered our meal and we never saw our waiter again until our meal was delivered 40 minutes later. After expressing our concerns with our waiter and manager....it happened all over again when we tried to order desert. We cancelled the desert and the manager comped part of the meal but we were so disappointed in our Valentines outing. This came as a surprise to us because all 4 of us were so excited about returning to The Palm after having had wonderful previous dining experiences here in past years. Perhaps it was a bad night?

Always a hit!

This restaurant is so welcoming. Superb service and incredible food. It's an elevated dining experience that just always comes through. We've enjoyed the bar, family nights, date night and cocktail parties at The Palm. It's a classic that always is a hit.

Steak Favorite in Houston

Never go wrong with steak and lobster from the Palm. Now, there is a lunch menu, great value and selection of many food choices. Always consistent, service is superb and the management is exceptional. Absolutely, a no brainer when around the Houston area.

Regardless if there is TAPE on the ID. “Refusal of service due to a tampered ID” was the stated reason by the manager. Make it make sense. April 22, 2023 Friends Birthday. Racism! Discrimination! Black waiter upholding rasicm. Racist host/manager ruining an evening. Bartender on the right when you first walk in supporting the sickness. Refusing service due to a “tampered ID”? So obvious the sad boring staff has nothing better to do than to practice discrimination. So sick. Literally felt like I was in an 1830’s Confederate camp. The black female waiter who even double-checked the ID should lose her job for being a nuisance, over talking, trying to sound smart, speaking to the entire room instead of doing her job - no need for extra extra talking. Literally just the House wine or a personal favorite. Period. Red wine. The manager... Jesus. So rasict. Like I cannot even express how sad and racist that manager is. So bad. So terrible. Literally ask yourself if you think you refused service due to racism or bc of policy. Later I just called a state authority (HPD) and the police verified that the ID was valid. Good customer service would have apologized. Explained the situation. Then offered for me to dine at the bar. The racist sick manager who has sick hatred poring from her skin heard the police and continued to uphold racist tactics. She even insinuated security.. Trespass.. Etc. Sad. Bad. Rasict. Sick. Disgusting. Evil. Evil. Evil. You are a bad establishment. Impossible this continues without being addressed. More than 2 eyes will be on this. It's 2023. Not a sit in in the deep south in 1950. Sick.

Not one of Houston's best

By Gene T |

We were guests at a dinner party, and our take on the food is that this restaurant does not serve the best food in the city. We both began with a "wedge" salad. It was certainly not a wedge--more like a quarter wedge, covered (and ruined) by fried onion rings and too little Roquefort dressing. While my wife had an excellent bone-in ribeye, my strip sirloin was served cold, was gristly and had no flavor. The veggies were chosen by our hosts: creamed spinach, half-and-half cottage fries and onion rings, and Brussels sprouts "A&O" (aioli & olives?). IMHO the fries/onion rings is something The Restaurant should have gotten rid of in the 1980's, but I'm just a consumer. Nothing special here. Dessert was a bunch of overcooked (to the point of being hard) donut holes, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and served with dark chocolate sauce and raspberry sauce--not worth the calories. If it were not for the high quality of my wife's bone-in ribeye, this would be a two-star rating. If you're looking for all the beautiful young ladies looking for the older men with Maseratis and Ferraris, though, this is the place to be.

Lobsters & Steaks are Fantastic

By MaryMaryWW |

The Lobsters are really fantastic as are the steaks. We also really enjoyed the "sides"....especially the Cream Spinach.

Lauren is the Best

By 32billu |

I am the President and director of Recycled Baseball items, Inc. We recently had our annual awards luncheon at The Palm for our second year in a row. Lauren and her staff made this year’s event even better than before. I cannot begin to express our gratitude for all of the hard work that was done by everyone there. The new GM, Leslie, had been in Houston only three days before e bombarded her with more than 100 guests. She was fabulous, as are our all time heroes, Adrian de la Fuente and Jimmy Martin. If you ever have an event to host, Lauren is the best! If you just want the best meal and experience in town, call Adrian or Leslie!

The Palm is back

By John P |

We dined Thursday, the 11th of October and we’re pleasantly surprised to see the place busy again. The new manager, Leslie Barkley, greeted us upon arrival and took the time to visit with us and went out of her way to insure that our dining experience was fantastic. The steaks, cooked to perfection and our waiter, spot on! We look forward to our next visit!

Amazing recommendation!

By MonaEddieOdom |

While staying in Houston on business, The Palm was recommended by our hotel desk clerk and we were very impressed! Elegant ambiance, great food, amazing service. If you aren't afraid to pay for quality, this is for you!

Mediocre At Best

By HoustonFoodAndWine |

Honestly I thought this place would be classier and was quite surprised to find that it was not as I imagined or hoped. When my wife & I walked into the restaurant to eat an early dinner off of the Prime Time menu in the bar area the first thing we noticed was the smell of cigar/cigarette smoke. Yes, there is a cigar shop a few spaces down in the strip center The Palm is located in but the smell was so strong my wife asked, “Do they allow smoking in here?” She then asked if the cigar shop was adjoined to the restaurant. The second thing we noticed was how dark and dingy the place was; the smoke smell certainly didn’t help, either, as it felt like an old pool hall. This all immediately evaporated any preconceived images I had in my head of what kind of joint this would hopefully be. My wife & I sat ourselves as there was no hostess and the only bartender on duty greeted us shortly thereafter. My wife & I ordered the bacon-wrapped scallops and the steakhouse burger (for myself). She ordered a glass of Champagne and then I ordered us a bottle of Montepulciano. Being a huge lover of wine I was eager to scope out the wine list but was shocked at how insane the markup was; it took me quite some time to settle on the bottle that I did because there’s normal markups, there’s steakhouse markups, then there’s The Palm’s markup, and their list has mostly mediocre bottles at best (Canvasback is ~$30/bottle retail and they were selling it for ~$120...) As time went on the bar area got a little rush and the wait staff quickly became overwhelmed. I found it fascinating, though, how frazzled they all became in the midst of this “rush,” which really wasn’t so bad. The waiters were getting impatient with one another, the bartender was cussing and talking loudly about how he hadn’t greeted a newly-seated four-top, how he hadn’t checked on us in a while, and how he was backed up on drinks (there was a birthday party going on in a private room). It was a very unprofessional display. The next issue we had was the clientele, which seemed typical for the area but was still rather unpleasant given the unprofessional staff and the dingy environment. The clientele seemed to be just a bunch of older men in ruffled work clothes who seemed like they had left work early and had been sitting at the bar entirely too long. Loud, foul mouthed, and constantly drinking, it all just made me feel like we were in a mob movie in one of the family restaurants. This was not the classy joint I envisioned and we will certainly not be returning. The only saving grace was that the food was relatively decent and the bottle I selected was good.

Wonderful for Lunch

By ppettyHtown |

Disregard the posting on Bing. The Palm is open for lunch from 11-3 pm Monday through Friday. And what a delight! We go for a delicious lunch at least once a month. The three course special for $26 is a bargain. Choice of salads or soup of the day, several entrees, a side and dessert. The Palm burger with fries for $15 is also a steal for the quality of the beef. Outstanding! The service is top notch. And the renovations of the restaurant itself are excellent. Splurge and give it a try!

Outstanding!

By Lynn M |

A neighbor friend of ours turned the BIG 90 in March, but we were out of the country and then the pandemic really hit, so we had to postpone the celebration. We had promised her for this milestone birthday that we would have lobster. And where do you go for the best lobster in Houston? The Palm!!! We ordered all of our food to go, including two large lobsters, a 5 lb. and a 4 lb. We also ordered two steaks, two asparagus and two mushroom orders, one creamed spinach dish and three Caesar salads. They packaged everything up beautifully. While waiting for our order to be completed, we sat up at the bar and had glasses of champagne. Our bartender, Craig, was also the one preparing our to-go orders. We had a delightful time talking to him. He is from Queens, NY, the home of (as you say when your from Queens, right Craig?) "Jennie Lopez". I said, oh, you mean J-LO? He said in Queens we call her Jennie. Crack me up. I guess she was at one time the "girl next door". The food, all of it, heated up so well. They told us how to heat up the lobster and made sure we had all the serving ware, drawn butter, croutons, salad dressing, bread, etc. for the entire meal. As I was carrying out the last two bags, I woman ran to open the door for me. After we got outside and in the car, my husband said the woman who opened the door for you was the general manager. So, Leslie, glad you are still steering the good ship, Palm! We will be back soon.

Good service but food not so!

By KitKat |

Our waiter was fantastic! The food was not so great! I eat at a lot of restaurants all over US.I have eaten at just about every palm there is and this palm would get the lowest mark thus far. We ordered a 5# lobster and the lobster did NOT look like it was 5#. It had small claws and looked closer to a 3#. I ordered the lobster bisque for appetizer and it tasted like it was from a mix and not prepared from scratch. My daughter ordered the crab cakes and she barely ate half of it. We took the left overs home and then threw it out. This restaurant caters to a much older crowd that continues to pay homage to the Palm when it was in its hay day. Those days are long gone and this Houston Palm is needing a good kitchen management make over!

Distractions during a special dinner

By keith l |

We booked a dinner through The Palm website ( which uses opentable). When we arrive at the restaurant for a birthday dinner, they had the reservation but nothing about celebrating the birthday. I later left the table to speak with the manager and he was concerned that the restaurant didn't receive the information with the reservation - but even after he know of the birthday he did nothing to help us celebrate. He didn't seem to care. And did nothing to make the situation right. It was a special dinner for a birthday and we expected to be treated better. I later sent an email to the manager, Brian Slawson - but he never replied. again lack of care or concern. As good customers, I felt we were badly treated

I Love Lobster!

By patgford |

The Palm has always been my favorite restaurant in Houston and even more so after their total makeover! The bar is loud and fun..........with lots of room to sit--either in booths, at pub tables or my favorite, at the bar. Not exactly the place for you if you want a dark, intimate table in the corner! Even when you are seated in the restaurant area--it's fairly loud. I've been told their steaks are spectacular..........but each and every time I go.........I get the lobster. There is NO WHERE better a place to have lobster than The Palm! I don't need side dishes--although an order of 1/2 and 1/2 is always on our table!! Skinny fried onion rings and potato chips are a true indulgence! Their wine list is great........the wait staff is amazing......I can't rant and rave about it any further without making myself a reservation for tonight!! :) Enjoy!

Horrible steaks, food and service! Overpriced

By D D |

It is really sad 😞 to write bad review, but they did not leave me any choice. Everything from food service to bill was just horrible. I was holding myself do not complain as we were at business dinner with boss of my husband. We have arrived on time, nobody met us at the host. The restaurant is dark. We were given by only one drinks menu, after we request wine list. We choose wine and only after request we got a food menu. Menu is not bad, but plz remove Italian dishes, of course they have nothing to do with Italian recipes. We got starter, and after request we had a bread Looks like for your money you have to ask for everything. Waiters are talking to each other, and not looking at the tables. Other 45 min we were waiting for steak 🥩 rare! 45! 45 min! The food has arrived fully cold. We can’t complain at business meeting, and we were pushing ourselves to eat it. We asked with no garlic, all came with extra garlic. Presentation is horrible, like for the dogs or pigs. Side dishes are huge and full of water and garlic. Tuna from main course has more than 20 ingredients: tuna, sesame, potatoes, beans, Garlic, pesto, tomato, peppers and garlic again… I have been working 20 years in restaurants and never seen worse food in my life… Manager asked how is good. I said it is very strange and eatable only… He smiles and left. I took side food to go to give to my poor people, they told me next Morning, do not bring us this food ever again 😂 The bill is high, better go to mad, nobu or koi if you are in Houston. Please, do not ignore It is really bad place, in Houston are millions nice places to enjoy, but definitely not this one!

Service is outstanding

Just feels very comfortable inside this place, chairs & layout combined with stellar service & food.

Don't reservations made here through Open Table...

By Daxrunner |

Last night I took my daughter to the opera and dinner for her 45th birthday. I searched Google for restaurants open until midnight, decided on the Palm, made the reservation for 11pm through Open Table. There were also slots to make reservations later than that, as well. When we arrived at the restaurant (20 minutes early, according to our reservation), we were hustled in and told that they closed at 11 so we needed to hurry. Needless to say, I was completely embarrassed, my daughter's birthday dinner was ruined, and we probably didn't make any brownie points with her new boyfriend, either. We skipped cocktails, wine, appetizers, salads and desserts, quickly ordered entrees, scarfed down our dinner as fast as humanly possible, and got the hell out of there by 11:15. Now I feel completely swindled out of the lovely dinner I had planned. I gave it two stars instead of one, because I have to admit the Wagyu rib eye was incredibly delicious. I bend over backwards to be kind and generous to my servers, and consequently they are usually kind in return. I rarely have a bad experience. I'm not that customer that can never be satisfied. I'm certain this is not a common occurrence at The Palm, but it was my first time there and this time they did NOT live up to their reputation.

Typical for the chain

By BigTeddyDub |

Hosted a business dinner with 12 guests. We were given a private room. Room was quiet and perfect for what we needed. Recommend the filet or the ribeye. Service was good, cocktails were great. Typical experience for The Palm.

A Classic place

By Winemakertx |

I've been eating at the Palm for 30Years, never a bad meal, Jim Martin has been running the show the entire time

Good lunch for clients

By JackKellyTX |

They have a power lunch with plenty of options. 2-3 Starters, 4-5 main dishes, generous sides and dessert. All for an affordable price. Been 2-3 times over the last 6 months. Plan on being there more. Great service - team atmosphere!

Good Food But Don't Expect A Quiet Atmosphere

By Ray S |

3 for dinner on an early Thursday evening. Service was top notch, food was pricy ("prime" beef and sea bass), beef was tender and well prepared but did not have flavor to go with the price. Because of the noise it was impossible to talk among the table without shouting. All in all, there are many better places in Houston.

Promising...

By EpicuriousExplorer |

Stopped in for lunch. They have quality burgers with fries for $15 and a prix dice lunch for $26. I got the burger medium-rare and it came out medium-well :( Not what you would expect for a restaurant that specializes in meat. Fries were good & the garlic aioli delicious. Service was friendly and a nice setting. I’ll try the prix fixe lunch sometime.

30th birthday dinner

By RMcgr |

I treated myself to a magnificent dinner for my 30th birthday. I ordered the veal martini, ice tea, and key lime pie. All was delicious. I must give kudos to the service and wait staff. They were unbelievably nice, professional, and friendly. I was greeted as soon as walked in, shown to my table immediately, and the waiter was there in seconds. I never had to ask for a refill. When my drink was about half empty, someone was there to refill it. This was a nice treat. Would love to go back and try the lobster.

Wonderful experience for dining. Very special for large groups in private room.

By SHG |

Family frequents the location for special events. The food and service as well as respect from the staff are perfect. Recently and in the past our family has reserved their private room. Not to diminish the special attention to the normal table, but their care and handling of a large crowd is stellar. I trust that your experience will not disappoint you.

The Waiter Didn't Know what a Manhattan was

By naisarg73 |

First off all, our waiter took some time to get our drink order. He must have been new or something because he had to look at our drink menu to understand what a Manhattan was. On top of that at a $$$$ restaurant, he had to write everything down, and kept suggesting things I didn't want after ordering. Service was crap for spending over 200 for two people.

Stopped in for a drink at the bar and to say "hi" to all our friends at the Palm

By Lynn M |

My husband and I were meeting some of our family at Fuad's Restaurant for dinner (located at the other end of the strip center from the Palm Restaurant) and being that we arrived about 30 minutes early, we decided to "nip" into the Palm, have a cocktail, and see if any of our old friends who work at the Palm were working this evening. Well, it was like old home week being able to say hello to so many of the Palm crew (Dario, Tino and Julio) who have worked there for years and years! Our bartender, Mark, was engaging and did a fine job on making my favorite martini (called a Pegu which no one has ever heard of). We learned from Mark that the long-time general manager had retired after 40 years of managing the restaurant and he told us there was a new manager. Then he went on to say "she" and I said "wowzee", a woman as manager at the Palm? How cool is that!!! Well the new manager, Leslie Barkley, came over to introduce herself and give us her card. We had a delightful conversation with her. We very much enjoyed getting to know her and we are just guessing that she is going to bring some real charm and new ideas to this legendary restaurant, so we are wishing her the best. And we will be back to get my lobster!!! (Note: This is the only place I eat lobster in town as they can't be beat.)

It's The Palm

By SteveSto |

Great steaks. I had great salmon. And I love the hash brown potatoes. These guys have been doing this long enough and in enough locations, that they have it down pat. If you want a steak and you're in the Galleria area of Houston, there's The Palm and Capital Grille. I like both. Both are great. Cap Grille décor is a little more formal and country club (which I like), while The Palm is a little more kitsch-y with all the drawings of local patrons.

Excellent dinner, as usual

By Michael L |

This was a special occasion and that was recognized from the reservation. Service was good and the waiter was attentive to our needs. The steaks, of course, were delicious and cooked perfectly. Both of us like our steaks underdone and that was no problem. The server specifically asked us if everything was cooked to our liking. The wine list is extensive (and expensive) but there was a large selection available by the glass at reasonable prices (both 6 and 9 oz serves). SInce it was a weeknight, the restaurant was quiet, which was nice for us. There is plenty of parking for those that do not wish to use the valet, but the valet was available in a covered area in case of inclement weather.

Another level of Steaks, Seafood & Service

By RJ O |

When you are in the mood for an old school white linen table cloth style steak house, then The Palm is you place. The service is world class with real professional servers. They have the best of everything. I started with their award winning crab cake which is way more crab than cake. It makes you savor every bite. Then I had their Australian raised Waygu Beef Steak. I am not even sure why they brought me a steak knife because this steak was so decadent that I could cut it with my fork. It is a day afterwards and I can still recall the taste. Hands down one of the finest steaks I have ever eaten. I backed it up with their goat cheese whipped potatoes which had the consistency of a fine mousse. Thankfully my desert stomach was empty so that I could have a slice of their homemade Key lime Pie. A more perfect pie has not been created. Note that this place is spendy but well worth it. I highly recommended The Palm.

Excellent Burger - Lunch Only

By WesleyMCPA |

I love to have lunch here. They have a great burger that is only served at lunch. Fries that go with it are always great. Service is always good. I've really not tried a lot else on the menu and you wouldn't expect this to be a burger stop, but for me it is. Excellent burger. If you are checking out burgers in Houston, give The Palm a shot. You won't be sorry.

Lobster special

By Winemakertx |

Where else can you go in Houston for thi kind of special meal, the environment great definately not for the carriage trade

Great Food...Amazing Service

By coryfg |

The Palm has become my favorite steak house to go to in Houston. The food is always great. This time me and my two friends got the 32 oz. New York Strip and it was one of the best cuts of meat I've ever had. For dessert, go with the carrot cake. You went be disappointed. Besides the great food, I always get amazing service. The wait staff is always very attentive without being over bearing.

New Year's Eve

By JanetinaS |

My husband and I like this restaurant very much. We spent last 2015 New Years there and we had a great time so we went back this last New Year 2016 but we had a bad experience . They did not honor our reservation and when we where finally seated it was one hour late . So to spend a good amount of money they should be more careful with clients. Food was good .

Still rocks

By Charles V |

It’s always good to enjoy diner with friends at a familiar restaurant and this place is that and we all know the fantastic steaks and service they offer.

Service Lacking Again

By mhg1925 |

My husband and I had dinner at The Palm on June 22. Service was very poor. Steaks arrived but no steak knives. Finally ate with place setting knife as they were cooling and no one checked on us or easily summoned without a scene. Long delay in ordering and receiving dessert. My husband emailed manager the next day who promised to discuss with staff. I returned for lunch with a friend on August 23. We were not greeted until offered menus after about 15 minutes by assistant manager. After another considerable wait waiter finally took drink and lunch order. Salads arrived before our drinks. When we asked waiter he very impatiently said they were on the way. An assistant manager checked on us and we mentioned poor service. He must have talked to waiter and busser as both seemed very hostile. We enjoy eating at Palm when we travel but don’t believe we will return to Palm in Houston (where we live).

Taste treat

By Harvey B |

This is not an inexpensive restaurant but neither is it the highest price restaurant in Houston. The food is prepared with care and the presentation is NOT over done in a chic manner. The service and management are both superb and want you the guest to be satisfied.

great food

By Coastal43391458400 |

As every Palm restaurant you will have a great quality of food, the service is also great , the atmosphere is ni e but different from NYC but doesn't make the place bad, just different form NYC Palm

This is a special experience.

By Mark E |

You know before you go, it's expensive. But the service is high class and the environment is City Life Experience at its best. The food is more than up to par. Any dish you order is sure to be delightful. We had Strip steak and Filet Minyon. And they even made a custom off the menu Grilled Chicken Sandwich for my picky son. He devoured it. The staff aims to please! I asked the Manager to request the Chef make a cold Lobster Bisque and put it on the menu. If they do that it will be the only one in town and I will go back every week.

Finally to DC Standards

By Dad-3X |

Having relocated from the Washington, D.C. area in 2003 I always miss the crew and restaurant in Tysons Corner. After going once or twice to the Houston location, in the past, it always disappointed until the remodel occurred. Now that this is behind them thankfully the bad service is too. It's now up to Washington, D.C. / Tysons standards in a very positive way. Keep up the good work!

Nice dinner but no longer one of the best in the city

By William D |

Went out for dinner with friends on a Sunday night. Have touted The Palm over the years for service, food and people watching. It has changed over the past few years. Many of the older wait staff seem to be gone and the food is not quite what it once was. When not having a steak or seafood, my go-to dish is chicken parmigiana. The best in town. Light, tender, crispy outside and huge and I add a side of pasta. If you have never experienced The Palm it is worth the venture. Pricey, good food but they've dropped a notch.

The Palm. Resting on the past. Your food is trash and so is your service.

By LARRY S |

The Palm used to be a great restaurant. They "were" known for fine steaks, giant lobsters, great service and a lovely dining experience. Today... they are a joke. The service no longer exists. The food isn't even bad enough to be considered lousy. It's really terrible. The service? Well, they don't have any. If you want to waste your evening and your money go to the Palm. Red Lobster serves better lobster.

Excellent Christmas Day Dinner

By Thom P |

Christmas Day Dinner You would be hard pressed to find a larger and tastier piece of grilled Chilean Sea Bass, or larger portions of grilled asparagus and 3-cheese au gratin potatoes. It was my first to try of The Palm special "Veal Martini," which was great. Great recipe by The Palm Executive Chef. Dinner was complimented by wine from one of my favorite wineries, Duckhorn Cellars. Outstanding service provided by Matthew.

Lovely Steak

By Matt T |

Would recommend this restaurant highly. I had the calamari to start which was lovely. The portion was huge so I ended up sharing some with my colleague. I then had the steak for main which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Very much enjoyed my meal!!

An iconic Restaurant

By Javier A |

Very Iconic restaurant with good food and great service. The food is good but not great. The price is decent and definitely worth it for the food. But when you come here, you go for the magnificent service and and very fun ambiance.

New Years dinner exceeded expectations

This place again exceeded our expectations, fast valet parking, great fast sitting service, great customer service and delicious warm bread, steaks cooked to perfection, lovely chocolate cake and great cappuccino HIGHLY Recommended, bring some cash you will need it.

Palm Houston hitting on all cylinders...

By VIEQUESBEACHBUM |

The Palm can sometimes be hit or miss, but my recent Birthday celebration was a home run. The 3 pound Lobster was tender and juicy. The 18 ounce New York strip with Brandy Peppercorn sauce was incredible along with Asparagus Fritti and half&half. A couple of salads, a great pre-dinner cocktail and a fabulous bottle of 1995 Phelps Insignia topped off the entire evening. No room for dessert, but a cigar on the patio afterwards was the ticket.

The best dining experience in Houston...

By lana7continents |

Went for a BD/Valentines' Day dinner... Everything about the evening was perfect. It was quite busy, but nothing was left to chance. Our water glasses stayed full, the martinis were the best in town, as always, and the steak was prepared flawlessly. Two of us had lobster and it was scrumptious! We never seem to get to dessert, but when we do, we choose the chocolate cake. it's dreamy! (had it a couple months back) We always enjoy the atmosphere here: people watching, celebrations, and lots of happy, energetic staff who stop to say HI. Always hate to leave...

Yummy Lobster

By rwilliams625 |

You can't go wrong with the lobster at The Palm. We had the lobster special, which is a 4 pounder split for two. Of course, we had to get the lobster mac and cheese as the side. Don't pass up the donut holes for desert.

Great Service and Ambiance

By great s |

My wife and I had a date night last weekend and chose the Palm. We were not disappointed. The staff was great and Tony, our server, was friendly, attentive, and funny. We had a wonderful time! This is new favorite steak spot in downtown Houston.

High End Meal w/SportsBar Atmosphere

By NMC_12 |

We've been members of the 837 Club for MANY years and we've eaten at The Palm is many cities around the U.S. and MANY MORE times at the Intercontinental Hotel in Mexico City. Tonight we ate in Houston, Texas and it was THE absolute WORST dining experience I have ever had at a Palm Restaurant. My appetizer crabcake was ice cold in the center and when my 4 pound steamed lobster arrived with the steaks of all other guests, it too was ice cold and had to be returned. To make matters worse, halfway through our meal an obviously more "important" group was seated near us and they had the staff put the GOLF CHANNEL on a TELEVISION in our DINING ROOM! I requested that the TV be turned off and the staff happily obliged as I was TRYING to have a nice dinner with my family, not a night out drinking in a SPORTS BAR! Unfortunately management obviously overruled my request in favor of these other "guests" and the remaining part of this SO-CALLED "fine dining experience" was littered with a bright television set in my face which covered a golf game, sports commentators and television commercials ~ pathetic. I can forgive the issues with the food as they were promptly handled by the staff and remedied (even though a manger never even acknowledged the issues) BUT I do NOT appreciate their honoring my wishes to turn the television off and then have it turned back on without so much as a word of explanation or consideration. That was rude. If I wanted to eat dinner at a sports bar, Buffalo Wild Wings was located down the street. What we had instead was prime rib, lobsters and filets with the same Sportsbar atmosphere as a corner bar along with a $500+ tab. Houston has far too many fine dining experiences to choose from to waste my time EVER again to be treated in this manner....my advice, dump The Palm and eat at Brenners Steakhouse or The Capital Grille for a flawless steak AND more importantly, a CLASSY atmosphere.

Iconic Steakhouse is a winner

By Barbnj |

Great place to bring the family for weekly Sunday Supper, or any celebration. Sophisticated, warm and welcoming whether you have very small children or older relatives. There is something for everyone! It goes without saying that the steaks are impeccably prepared and the sides will have you wanting more. Ask for Lia or Jimmy and they will take great care of you.

Very good prime rib

By Javier D |

All do we are talking about the steak capital, I do think the Palm is one excellent choice to have a great piece of meat. Prime rib is very good! I recommend the place.
