We two stopped in for beers and lunch on a Sunday afternoon. BEER: 4.5. Many local beers on tap. Best of all, it include a choice of two German beers on tap: a Veltins pilsner and an Aldersbacher Dunkel. Both good, with the Dunkel being especially pleasant and non-hoppy. FOOD: 3.0. - 3.0: Vegetable tacos - 3.5: Roasted red pepper hummus - 2.0: Bavarian Bratwurst. AMBIANCE: 4.0. Former funeral home, including for Bruce Lee. Outside heated patio available. Balcony available. 3 clean bathrooms (1 for men, and 2 unisex). Horror movies playing weekly in October (2019) leading up to Halloween. SERVICE: 5.0. Michael was wonderful. Even chased us down outside when my son forgot something in the bar.

Great beer list. Our waiter was the best I've had in a very long time. We didn't eat but the pizzas looked/smelled great. Cool atmosphere

Inflexible policy. Not wise to carry passport and drivers license was not acceptable When people obviously look over 21 any picture I’d should be acceptable

The Pine Box is a really funky place, and fortunately is located to lots of other funky places. The interior is really pretty and there are all kinds of things leftover from its previous use as a mortuary. I am pretty sure the bartender told me that Bruce Lee's funeral was here. Anyways, the pizzas are really good, and the fact that there are some odd 30 beers on tap is awesome. Talk to the bartenders; they're really friendly and offer awesome recommendations.

This is a very cool place for a quick glass of beer. They offer alot of variety. For other than beer, go somewhere else.

What a fun place. We had a group of 10 from work and everyone loved what they ordered. What also made it cool was the atmosphere. Since this place was a funeral home in the old days, it's really interesting inside with great woodworking and big windows. If you like great beer this is the place to go....good food, atmosphere, and beer selection.

For years, I knew this as a funeral home and a law office. Imagine my surprise as going inside for the first time and seeing this marvelous space. It is more like a cathedral than a place to enjoy beer and we are all the luckier for it. I enjoyed multiple trips here last weekend and the beer selection is incredible. The staff is friendly, so don't be shy: ask for a recommendation! I enjoyed a 'blunch' menu item: the frittata, which was just the perfect little meal to keep me going all afternoon. What a relief to not get the normal 'American-sized' meals that leave me feeling like I ate too much. This is definitely the place to seek out and return to if you enjoy beer and an incredible, rare neoclassical architectural experience.

Loved the history of this place, and it had a great selection of local beers on tap. The happy hour menu was good for cheap snacks, and it was neat to see the pictures of what it looked like before it became a bar. Recommend!

Tried this place on a whim out of interest in the novelty of beer and pizza in a converted funeral home. We arrived early (6:30PM) on a Saturday and the place was half full with the young and hip of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. However, the indigenous life did not seem spooked by an elderly middle-aged couple and it was a laid-back atmosphere. We didn't ask, but it didn't seem like reservations were needed or taken (it's a bar). I'd recommend sitting upstairs to see the most of the place. We sat in the main room by the kitchen. By the time we left, the restaurant was nearly full. We tried a few different beers, all of which were good. We're planning to go back so we can try more as we didn't try the sours mentioned in other reviews. Pizza is a personal preference, but we enjoyed ours. It's not thin crust pizza. It's the excellent bread, cheese, and exotic ingredient variety. We shared a wild boar and pineapple pizza. We're pretty sure the cremation ovens have been replaced by pizza ovens. We also split a good walnut and gorgonzola salad and a plate-sized cookie. No ice cream (yet, the server says they are working on it). The service was fast and efficient, possibly due to the time of our visit. Normally, we'd love this, but last night, we were not in a rush and wanted to take it in, so it seemed a little fast for a bar where you want to hang out for a while. Our server was helpful, but in a Seattle-friendly sort of way (responsive and courteous, but not voluntarily warm). They didn't do anything to promote the novelty or history of the place. Maybe they don't want to be touristy or figure you've already read about it on your phone. Since that was part of the attraction, we would have been interested in an insert in the menu with the history of the place, for example, I read online that Bruce Lee had a memorial service there. We probably walked right by it, but there is supposed to be a Bruce Lee poster commemorating the event, which we did not see. Perhaps our server might have asked if we'd ever been there and told us about the venue. It's a city neighborhood, so you have to work hard and maybe walk a little to find less expensive street parking than the adjacent lot we used. That's to be expected given its location. We didn't look around and ended up spending $17 as there was only one "evening special" payment option. We are definitely returning with some of our friends who enjoy a good beer. Read up on it before visiting.

I stopped by this place on the recommendation of the bartender at a place a few blocks away, and I wasn't disappointed. The selection of beer is diverse, and the food is good. I had no idea the place was a funeral chapel.

Kind of a cool backstory on this place. Interesting old building makes for a cozy bar. The service wasn't great but nothing too really complain about except for long waits to order new drinks or more food. Still worth a visit.

The service was great. Our waiter was really friendly. The House special mix for their hamburger with a fried duck egg on top was probably the best I've had in a long time. Then the beer recommendations came and perfected the experience. It may not be everybody's scene, but just close your eyes and enjoy the flavors because they were worth finding this place which is proof that the best places in Seattle are not on the wharf.

The place is somewhat unique and has a great variety of beers. The food (chicken burger) was not so great, but some people had pizzas and they seemed to be very good. I would recommend if you are a fan of beers. Walking distance from Seattle downtown.

Inflexible policy. Not wise to carry passport and drivers license was not acceptable When people obviously look over 21 any picture I’d should be acceptable

They definitely don’t hide the fact that this used to be a funeral home, especially close to Halloween. They offer a huge selection of beer with surprisingly great service.

4 of us stumbled past, intrigued by the look (big columns, cool look) and went in. We had a great dessert (a monster single piece of choc Bundt cake...then some cocktails. Beer menu was very big....all good

Pizza and pretzels are delicious! They have a nice tap selection and great service. The history of the building makes for interesting conversation.

We didn't plan on going to so many brewing companies and to so many beer bars... It sort of just happened. This place came highly recommended by more than one person, and I'll admit, they have an impressive tap list. They also have several rums and whiskies I hadn't tried before, too. This place used to be a mortuary, and they apparently did Bruce Lee's funeral here. Great list of beers, some rare beers, and reasonably priced. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good beer bar in the Emerald City.

Nice beer menu. We only had time for a few drinks and a pretzel--which was also good. Wish we had more time here. The atmosphere is fun.

Stopped in here one afternoon for a beer with my wife. They have an eclectic selection of beer on tap, maybe a couple dozen or so. They also have a kitchen that serves some better-than-standard bar food, including pizzas. The flatbread was exceptional: warm, fresh, and the perfect light pairing for a couple drinks. The atmosphere was also relaxing and conducive to conversation.

First the good part: The draft beer selection is fantastic perhaps the best I've ever seen. The bartender really knows his beers. Interesting room. I would love this place except for one thing: the bartender (and I've been here twice and had the same guy) acts like he really doesn't want to be here. He's not grumpy and he's efficient behind the bar and by the little conversation we did have he obviously loves and knows beer but ... I felt like I was bothering him if I tried to have a conversation. I'll be back for the beers but next time I'll bring a paper or a friend and not expect any engagement if the same guy is behind the bar.

The building was really interesting. The food was really good, not a lot on the menu. The mac n cheese was delicious. Had a great sort of local and not so local beers. Staff was friendly and the bathroom was clean. Wasn't busy when we went but my brother said its a hot spot for locals.

We enjoy popping over to The Pine Box to meet up with friends for a drink. Overall they have a nice beer selection, there's plenty of seating, and the service is decent.

This is a fun pub in the popular Capitol Hill neighborhood. It is a converted funeral home, paying homage to Bruce Lee. They had a great selection of regional beers and comfort food dishes. I enjoyed the mac and cheese with broccoli.

This place was packed on a Thursday evening with tons of locals. The staff is friendly and attentive. The decor was little strange. The building used to be a chapel back in the 70s and it looks like the inside hasn't changed that much. Bruce Lee's funeral was held here in 1973. The Pine Box has been in business for almost a year now. The interior benches look like the original pews and the sconces and chandeliers look original as well. The beer menu was displayed on two large flat panel TVs which seemed out of place with the decor. We ordered our drinks and grabbed a table. There's also outside seating available as the indoor space is a little tight. There's also an upstairs available but I don't know how big that is. A waiter stopped by and gave us waters and told us that only pizza is available as it was late in the evening. We ordered a pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella and Italian sausage) and enjoyed the atmosphere. The pizza was thin, crispy and tasty. Just the way I like it. I would defintely be back the next time I'm in Seattle.

Located in an old mortuary complete with church pew seats and a chapel. Pine Box is a bar and restaurant with great pizza, small plates, salads and a huge selection of local beers. They used to have a whiskey Monday special but apparently have discontinued that, I hope they bring it back.

Very enjoyable with personable waitstaff. Beer list makes it hard to choose but I found a way. Next time I'll stay longer.

Not a bad beer in the house. Great selection. Space is great and nice outdoor area for large groups. The food however is terrible. The pizza sauce was pasty and acidic and bland. The pretzel dish with buratta is confused and none of the components go together. Cold mushroom duxelles and chunky tzatziki sauce and garlic shredded carrots. Multiple people ordered this dish and besides the great pretzel the rest was misplaced. The romaine salad with pickled egg and blue cheese dressing was bland and just didn't taste right together. I still love this place just need to redo menu. The large cookie was wonderful and we ordered two more.

This is a great place of History for those of you who remember Bruce Lee. But it has 31 different types of draught beer and very reasonable prices. The food is great and the atmosphere is perfect. Service is good not left hanging.

This place has a great tap menu; however when I went to order my favorite beers they were out the problem seems to be that they can't keep their menu up-to-date. Service was OK - we had to flag down our waitress every so often. Other than that it seems like the menus are on point and the people are happy. if I lived here I'm pretty sure I'd meet my friends here

11.22 worst bartender I think I have ever seen. You know those angry drunk people that suck the fun out of a room? That was her. Bad drinks but great pizza until the fool turned on the soap machine right on to our food and drinks. Absolute idiot. Don't waste your time or money.

Extensive selection of craft beers and great place to meet up for drinks. Walking distance from Downtown Seattle.

You can't miss this place. The odd history, the great menu, and the friendly staff make The Pine Box a fun afternoon hangout. We caught the happy hour (old-fashioned's all around) and snacked on the baked garlic chèvre and chili-lime popcorn. The patio area (very obviously where the hearses used to park) is relaxed and comfortable, with pretty murals and decor.

Ok, the Pine Box...what does it mean? This ultra cool, hipster hangout used to be a funeral home! Most notably for the famed martial arts actor Bruce Lee. Now, eat your pizza...gross! So, a pine box is a coffin, but this place is anything but dead! After you get over the initial shock, you can relax and enjoy good food and drinks. We arrived just as happy hour was expiring...so to speak. The bar, the main floor and the patio were completely full. The servers were swamped and nobody could even stop to help us navigate this frenzy atmosphere. We stood around waiting for a table, when a server told us they were about to open the upstairs balcony and we could sit up there. Wonderful! A bird's eye view to the excitement. The balcony filled up quickly and only one server was assigned to this area. No problem. He was busy, but never seemed stressed and our order didn't take to long to arrive. We had some fun drinks and the White Pizza with feta, gorgonzola, grana, mozzarella, & garlic oil. A little salty. The Garlic Chèvre Cheese Dip appetizer was very good, but also slightly on the salty side. I'd come again and try something different. This place is a lot of fun and should be on everyone's list when visiting the Capital Hill area of Seattle.

I was told to definitely visit this place to experience some wonderful local craft beer. I was not disappointed. The place was a former Funeral Home, and still has some of the trappings and original walls of the business. The old neon "Chapel" sign is still there. There is an "upstairs" balcony for special occasions, but was closed the night I visited. The bar is stocked with plenty of liquor and craft beers. Long bar and long table to sit on, and tables out on the area where the hearses once parked. The kitchen appeared to be busy and the foods that were coming out looked great. i'll definitely come back the next visit to Seattle and have something to eat. A bit difficult to find, but definitely worth the effort. Rather indiscript building....so look at the picture and memorize it. Parking on street with meters.

I had the beef, veal, pork bacon infused cheeseburger. This might be the best hamburger I've ever had. My husband had the spiced prawns and cheese grits. We both had a black flag imperial stout that we enjoyed. Service was very slow, but we weren't in a hurry.

Here's your place if you are in Seattle and looking for craft beer. Yes, they have tons on tap and the LED screens with real time updates on how much is left in the kegs is fantastic. Service is excellent. We came on a Friday night and the place was packed but the servers are fast and furious. The only drawback is that it is LOUD.

The Pine Box has such a great vibe. The patio with its picnic table style seating makes for great conversations with friends. The menu is more than your standard bar food without being overly hipster. I held many events at the Pine Box -- such a great place to hang out!

We stopped buy during happy hour. The bar is in a converted funeral home. The rooms still has a lot of the original finishings, It was the location for Bruce Lee's funeral. It has a large selection of beers and the bar tender was helpful. Recommend stopping in for a drink

Huge selection of craft beer. Delicious wings and giant chocolate chip cookie with salted caramel sauce. If I lived in Seattle I would definitely be a regular !

I actually loved the beer and the atmosphere. What I hated was the fact that they ADDED a tip to my transaction. That's ILLEGAL and DESPICABLE . I left the tip off my credit card purchase and left a $1 bill. They ADDED $1 to my total credit card purchase. Does an extra $1 added to my total cripple me? No, but it's the principle behind it that's QUITE disappointing and I hope they reprimand the person responsible for it. UPDATE: They said that they would refund my bill, but they ended up charging my card again! See the pictures.

Been here twice in the last year and every time it has been amazing! The building is so cute and unique. The food and drinks are delicious, last visit I had a Bloody Mary which was amazing and spicy! I had the pretzel as well, which was so fresh and full of flavor. My husband had a dark beer called dark star and it was full of flavor and had coffee notes. What is impressive about this place is their liquor, wine, and beers, they have literally hundreds to choose from. Will definently be back and would recommend it to anyone in Capitol Hill.

We loved this place. It's super chill and the staff is extremely friendly. They have lots of nice beers on tap and an extensive cocktail list. This place is perfect to have a beer and enjoy a tourist destination all at the same time.

Due to all the positive comments we thought 2 hav a beer and pizza there. Place looks great, music was much 2 loud to hav a conversation @9pm. People were shouting 2 each other, to hear.. acoustic is bad for both loud music and loud talks Beer choices are great! Pizza was lousy... took 2 specials: with the broccoli it was tasteless due to a ton of cheese and Cream. And a Texas luau or what ever. The BBQ sauce was already that spicy, that I had to take off the jalapeño peppers and couldn't taste difference between the other toppings anymore... Sorry, great place for the looks and beers Bad place for food and talks.

My partner loves it so that means I will frequent it more often than I would want to. She loves the beer selection and she swears they have the best pretzels. I thought the service was fast and attentive. I think I couldn't get past the stench of the outdoor area. It smelled of dirt and alcohol. I would enjoy it more if it had televisions to watch soccer games.

Thought we'd stop in before a show at the Paramount, a short 5 minute walk away. We loved the atmosphere, formally a mortuary, and were well taken care of by the staff. Drinks were well made and we had a tough time making a final decision on what to eat. We ended up with the Hot Italian sandwich and it was excellent! We greatly appreciated that the portions were just right and the salad hit the spot. We will definitely go back again as we have other foods and drinks to try. Can't wait! Definitely worth a try or two!

This place is unique. It was a former mortuary, so the exterior and interior are a little different than a standard bar. The former pews have been repurposed for seating and the acoustics make the music sound like it is live. They have some great and interesting beer selections, so go ready to try something different. We didn’t eat, so I can’t comment on the food. It is walkable from downtown, but understand it is uphill on the way.

Great beers and appetizers. We had great service and it wasn't too crowded. I would absolutely go again.

This bar is in a chapel attached to an old mortuary. Materials I read elsewhere indicated that Bruce Lee's funeral service was held here. It is such a small place, I can't imagine. I only had a pretzel but was good. The beer was cold and good.

Friendly attentivve staff with one of the best beer selections in Seattle. Go here if you are a beer snob. You will not be dissapointed. Good bar food.

Stopped in for one happy hour beverage on a Saturday at 4pm. It was busy, but not full. I had wine. Hubby had a beer from the huge list. The decor makes this place a must-see. We were very happy we stopped in before walking straight across the street for dinner.

definitely worth popping your head into just to see the place. They've converted an old funeral parlor into a funky bar. It has a lot of atmosphere!! There's also a lot of tattoos in that place, mostly on the servers. We were there on a Saturday evening for a cocktail, well made by our painted server. If you can stand heavy metal blasting at you you'll probably enjoy the place. But one drink was enough. We are not the target audience and by the time we left, the place was filling up with people all being carded coming in. Needles to say they didn't card us. Its a fun place at least give it a try (the pizzas looked great coming from the kitchen)

The atmosphere at the Pine Box is very lively. It gets pretty crowded here, but you'll eventually get a seat and you'll be glad you didn't leave. The beer selection is excellent and the service is fast. It's a good spot for groups and catching up with buddies after work.

Friendly accommodating bar staff, good beer and craft cocktail selection, outstanding people watching if you can put up with the hipster industrial noise "music" (take note I am 40 - also you kids get off my lawn).

Great pubs get by with less than this place. A great building with a great beer menu. I enjoyed the pizza and how friendly the staff was.

This place has a great atmosphere and great IPA beers. Great price at only $5. We had a great time and great seattle type place

Loved the beers, the friendly staff, and the music. It was a welcoming place to spend a couple of hours in a quirky venue. We're glad to see places like this still going strong.

The Pine Box gets its name as it sits in an old funeral parlor. They kept interior A great selection of beers and a very Cap Hill style food menu. We got the jalapeno hummus, tacos, the mac & cheese, and a pizza. While the food overall was pretty good, the beer is the true star of this place. They change out their kegs constantly and have a big selection of different types of beers.

This is a cool bar and restaurant located in an old mortuary. Huge (almost overwhelming) range of craft beers, friendly staff and delicious pizza!

This place has great pizza and a fantistic beer selection. It's a fun place in an interesting venue. Sometimes it's hard to get a seat, but you can stand around and have a beer while waiting.

Literally felt like we belonged there from the moment we walked in! We were cheerfully welcomed by bartender (extraordinaire!) Celeste! Friendly atmosphere and good food (try the flatbread!). Don't miss upstairs for a more mortuary-like experience!

If you're looking for a good beer bar, you should enjoy Pine Box. Always a nicely balanced beer list, with some rare options for the adventurous types. Nearly always a local cider on tap as well as NW IPAs. The porcini popcorn lasts about 5 minutes because I totally inhale it. The pizzas won't change your life or anything but they're tasty, especially on happy hour. We've always had very nice servers who make sure our beers aren't empty for long. It is a former funeral home and they embrace it, but it's certainly not macabre. Nice outdoor patio too.

A great use of a former funeral home if ever there was one. Some fine dining options, and a very good beer selection. They even have a 'randall' to infuse some of the beers on tap with interesting flavors (they had oak and coconut chips the night I was there). The place can be a bit noisy when its full, but all in all, a fun place for a bite and a beer.

So we are wondering up Capitol Hill from the city and my wife sees this funky place and the next thing we know we are ordering a pizza from one of the disinterested servers and drinking excellent beer. The former funeral home is well......... atmospheric and while that pizza if an indicator of the food was.... okay at best, we like the Pine Box as a watering hole.

I had only an afternoon to spend in Seattle. When my first destination would not open until 6:00 PM, I called a friend familiar with establishments in Seattle that feature beer. He stated that if I could wait until 3:00 PM, The Pine Box would be an excellent choice. He was absolutely right. There were 33 different beers on tap, superb variety ranging from session beers to big beers, and a server who knew them all well. A session IPA, a triple IPA which actually was more like a hoppy barleywine, and a famous imperial stout that I had never previously had on tap, along with a plate of wings made my afternoon. The Pine Box gets its name because under previous ownership the architecturally beautiful building was a funeral home. Cheers.

Nice find just north of the convention center area. A good selection of beers. The food was very good. We really enjoyed their pretzel appetizer, crispy and warm. The service was good and friendly. Casual fun atmosphere.

Good pizza, good beer, little smelly. Overall nice experience. Went with some coworkers and all seemed to have a good time.

I was visiting my twin daughters who live in Seattle and they took me to this fun place for dinner. Great selection of beer but more importantly several IPAs to choose from. We sat in the balcony by the rail and had a nice perch to watch the restaurant below! Food was very tasty as well. We tried a pizza, a sandwich and their brat. All was enjoyed.

I have been to the Pine Box twice now. Once while I lived in Seattle for a summer and once when I went to Bellevue for work. I took the bus in so i could eat at the Pine Box again. Eats: The pretzel with the hot mustard. Prepare to get your sinuses cleared and to have fun with your date or friends. Its almost scary eating another bite because it so spicy. But its so darn good! Pizza is the route I have taken two times. Light crust and delicious toppings. You won't feel overly full. So if you have a room, go for the warm cookie. The inside of the restaurant is super cool. I've eaten in the upstairs both times because I like looking out and viewing the entire bar. Plus you can hear the live music they provide but it's not blasting over your conversation. They seats and table are retrofitted pews and I really like that part. It feels different. Both times I went just before the dinner rush hour and I have had no issues just walking in. I think it was around 6:00. Prices are right too. Not overly expensive for good food. I'd say $ and a half $

Had heard about this from a beer publication, my friends said that I needed to check it out. This used to be a funeral parlor, or might still be? not sure. No worries Glinda the good witch was standing over the bar/restaurant. Was about 8 or 9 blocks from Pike's market. Not a long walk, but the bar tender graciously handed me a water when I sat at the bar. Wonderful beer selection and I was able to explore some IPA's recommended by the bartender (pFriem IPA, Port Mongo IPA). Homemade pretzel with I believe IPA mustard was great as well. I wish I had more room for good. The pizza's looked really good!

Yep, it’s one of those places where you have to shout across the table at each other. Love the unique potato salad. Quirky menu.

The concierge at our hotel recommended we take a hike up to Capitol Hill to the Pine Box to sample the ales. We did and it was well worth it, excellent beer, great bar staff and lovely food - really enjoyed it. Cool old building, good welcoming atmosphere and about 30 beers on tap - lovely! Recommended.

This bar is pretty cool inside with a huge selection of beer to choose from. Ordered some pizza which was a little on the crunchy side for my liking but was OK. Beer and food is reasonably priced.

Visited 2x since December 2012. Love the building, decor, music, and the option to dine outdoors. Staff was friendly and attentive. Very much a "Capital Hill eclectic" group. The beer selection is excellent, one of the best in Seattle, which is saying a lot. The small plates are great, had several different ones. The pizzas are very good- creative, hand tossed, thin crust. Have not been able to make it to the main dishes, will try on our next visit. They offer a weekend brunch. Parking can be challenging.

The Pine Box located at 1600 Melrose Avenue is an old 1920's mortuary. However times have changed and it now serves great beer and pizza. There is a wide range of local and imported beer on the ever changing menu. It is worth noting that it opens from 3.00pm Monday to Friday and 11.00am at weekends. It is always open until 2.00am and has happy hour between 3.00pm and 6.00pm. If you love beer, you will not be disappointed!

Atmosphere - A Tap Selection - A Food - B+ If you're catering to an urban area, more than two wines (one red blend/one white) should be offered, even if your focus is beer. My Greek salad was very good, not greasy or heavy in the slightest. My Pinot Gris was okay. My date ate an entire small pizza, and appeared to enjoy it. The venue was completely full and lively on a Wednesday night after work. Singles, professional crowd.

I heard of this bar while trailing the Web for more unusual places to visit in Seattle - and it seems this not only formerly a funeral home, but also Bruce Lee's last stop before he was buried in the nearby Lakeview Cemetery. There are 30-odd craft beers on tap with LED screens with real time updates on how much is left in the kegs. Good food also served. Nice atmosphere and good service.

Not only did I love this bar for the sole reason that it used to be a mortuary, but the beer list was fantastic--particularly their selection of sours. It can be a challenge to find a solid variety of sours! The vibe was really great, and our server was friendly. (Some of the others, not so much.) Perfect watering hole for the Halloween season, or any time of year for that matter!

We stopped in for a quick drink and a bite to eat while on our vacation. We ended up at the bar and 3 drinks later we felt right at home. Good cider selection and the pretzel & meatballs hit the spot. Our apps did take a really long time but hey have another drink! The food we had was great and started off the night just right. Amazing building and not over the top decor.

Spent a couple of hours here on a Saturday evening. Weird getting carded, unironically, despite graying hair and the look of someone obviously in his 50s but whatever. Most patrons were younger. The selection of beer on tap was great and very reasonably priced. Mixed drinks, too. Very friendly service. Loved the pizza. Pretzel was good, too, especially if you like very spicy mustard. As others have said, the atmosphere -- hipster meets erstwhile funeral home -- is unusual. Fun place. Glad we went.

My friend and I came here for dinner. It has a nice young crowd vibe. They have a huge list of beers (and ciders) on tap. They also have a few sours which was awesome. I saw on the menu that they have sour Mondays were they tap a new sour every week. I had a salami and spinach pizza which was fantastic and my friend had a caesar salad which was one of the best I've ever tried. Overall, it was a great experience.
Great building, great beer
Visited here on a recommendation and I was not disappointed. Apparently this was an old mortuary and sells 31 different types of beer which matches the 31 cadaver spaces it once held. Great looking place with heaps of atmosphere. The beer selection is magic, I particularly liked the rhubarb sour. Was going to eat there but I wasn't in the mood for the relatively small selection on offer, I'm a fussy eater (vegetarian). Must mention though the place was packed out, standing room only. It did lighten up around 8pm though.
