Real Irish Pub feel and fare. The beer wine and Irish whiskey complete the authenticity. The food was well prepared and tasty. Skip the Guinness ice cream rather just have the Guinness!

We only stepped in for a few beers on a Saturday afternoon, but it was a pleasant experience. They have a huge selection of craft beer, a variety of brands of liquor, and a super friendly bartender.

Within walking distance of the Winspear Opera House, Happy Hour specials, varied menu selections, and fast, friendly service…we will return next time we have an event to attend down that way. Try the Irish Mule when you go!

Yes I have found a gem!!!! Finally an authentic amazing Irish pub here in Dallas 😍 Their beer and whiskey, bourbon etc selection is amazing!!!!! They do serve Brunch u till 3pm! Located right across from the Yolk place!!! Oh and foks, they bloody have heinz red beans with breakfast!!! Horayyyy!!!!

We had been looking forward to this new restaurant opening for the last several months. Walking from a theater to the building where I'd parked, I noticed it was now open and took the opportunity to grab a quick bite. Was so very glad that I did so. This new bar/restaurant was just perfect! The decor is really gorgeous with a beautiful bar. Seating options are great. Music was not overbearing. Service was most excellent. Food was spectacular. The mussels were in a creamy, lemony sort of broth and were in close competition for the best ever that I've enjoyed. Seeing as how those were at a restaurant that was located across from where this one is now, and it's been closed for several years, there really is no competition for best. Grilled cheese sandwich is not the normal sandwich. It has "melted Swiss cheese, herbed pimento cream cheese and Irish cheddar cheese on toasted sourdough bread." There were three slices of the bread--like a club cheese sandwich. There are four side options. The tomato bisque was luscious with the sandwich. Can't wait to try more of their menu items.

We visited tonight before a show at the Winspear; at 6:05pm it was packed (as expected) but we got the last table on the outdoor patio across from the stairs to the sidewalk. There were heaters to the left and right, but not on our table - that was ok, we had coats. Staff was shorthanded; no less than three servers popped by promising to return, before we got service. We received delayed drinks and more repeated promises of refills. We finally received our food at 6:55pm, 35 minutes after ordering as soon as we could. Avocado caprese salad was pretty; the chicken on the side looked blanched and unseasoned (daughter declined to comment). The Castletown (Irish Reuben) was actually amazing and hot. Unfortunately, my husband's app Corned Beef and Cabbage Eggrolls died on the line while waiting for the hot sandwich and were cold and barely edible. With the lack of service and the fact that we needed to go, we could not send them back. We chased down our bill at the bar so that we could leave. 2 stars for the sandwich and caprese; we would not return.

I made my first visit to The Playwright last week and was stunned (in a good way) so much that I needed a second visit a few days later to really capture what needed to be said. First and foremost the staff are awesome - every last one of them. They know they bill off fare and really set on the right option, which brings mev to the bill of fare which has fabulous offerings. The corned beef is without compare and the pub curry is truly best over fries (skip the rice - trust me on this). The bet offerings are what is expected and all pours are proper but the real yeah is the whiskey selection. They don't have an endless inventory, but they have what you will actually want to drink! I'm partial to the Middleton's Very Rare although their selection of other Irish whiskey gives the full cross section of palettes. The scotch selection is really good, but this is an Irish Pub so wet should support the Erin land! Solid five star pub and restaurant!

Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Decor & Style: 5/5 I love the decor of this place. It feels authentic (but wouldn't really know since I haven't been to Ireland) and it has a good open floorplan to it (doesn't mean it's large but it's open). Only drank Irish beer and fish and chips and all was great! Great party place. One of the better Irish pubs i've seen in the US!

We popped in here before for a drink while waiting on a table at a restaurant nearby. We finally made it back to dine here. We each had the beer and whiskey special - only 8 dollars. We started with scotch eggs- they were spot on. My friend had corned beef and hash- very nice presentation and it tasted great. I had the Irish curry and it was as good as curry in Ireland. We ended with bread pudding. All portions were rather massive. Service was fantastic - she was quick, friendly, and efficient. We will be going back.

We just popped in for a beer, so we didn’t try much food. There were 7 of us, and we found a place, but the tables are so close that it’s a little hard to get in and out of them without knocking into nearby tables. Still, it was a chilly day, and the coziness was welcoming, as was the service. We tried their IPAs and decided the Sprucetip by Ballast Point was the best. Would have tried some whiskey, but it was a little early in the day for that. Selection was impressive. We did get an order of the Mac and cheese and some fries for the table. Fries were typical pub fries - thick enough to hold up to malt vinegar. The Mac and cheese was served with bacon and a big sausage on top. It had a nice texture but was just a little too salty. I would definitely go back to try some more.

We were shooting for Yolk and learned there was a 45 minute wait. We were all hungry and noticed at the same time that this cute pub was only a few steps away! What a lovely place!!! I had the fish and chips (because pub), and we shared many delicious appetizers as well. We all enjoyed our food immensely - be sure to try the fried cheese bites (get two orders for 5 people). The cocktails were great and we all loved the espresso martini most of all. I am truly glad we found this place and you will be glad too. Highly recommend!

I stumbled into this place and I was so surprised by the ambience, food variety, homemade food, great drinks, great staff, old world charm. The fish and chips were incredible. The fish was the most giant piece of fried fish I ever saw. I love you. The brunch is very good. Love the giant platter of everything: eggs, bacon, sausage, pancake, sausage gravy biscuit. Ambience is so cool like you're taking a little vacation. I loved all of the well laid out art and decor and the cool music playing in the background. The bar is really pretty and fun to sit. It was great when we came as it wasn't overly busy and we got amazing service and it was nice and relaxing. A totally fun cool getaway right in the heart of Dallas. I highly recommend this if you're by yourself, on a date, with the family, with a business group etc anything goes for this old world charm. I wish I had taken photos but my phone battery died. I will be back soon!

They say you can judge the quality by the number of people in it. If that were true The Playwright Irish Pub must be one of the best Irish Pubs in Dallas. Everytime I went past it was completely full. One night we managed to get a table there and to be honest I don't know what the fuss was about. The food and drink are standard and there wasn't much service. The prices are comparable to the rest of Dallas. Overall: An average Irish Pub but there are a lot of other places in Dallas which can provide a better experience.

Great brunch. We enjoyed every aspect of our experience, from the food to the vibe. I highly recommend it! We happened across this place by accident as we were looking for a good breakfast. We saw their sign saying they served a brunch and decided to give it a try. We tried the Belgium Waffles and the Breakfast Tacos, a little sweet and savory. Both were excellent and we enjoyed every bit. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in town.
Fun Place - Great Food
Four of us came here for dinner/drinks before a play at the Wylie Theater, and we had a great time. This place has a cool vibe to it and a lively crowd. The place was packed on a Tuesday night, and we were lucky to get the last table when we walked in. Service fun, friendly, and professional. We were well taken care of even with the full house. The food is excellent. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich and was really wowed by how good it was. I can't tell you the last time I've seen this on a menu, and it brought back the memories of great Monte Cristo from the days of old.... One of the group ordered bacon wrapped chicken wings (I know.....), and they were even better than the name suggests. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meals, and all had a a great time. This is a fun place with great food. If you're in the area check it out.
