We stopped in for dinner, seated promptly. Drinks came fairly quick. I ordered the lamb app & the boss had the pork ribeye. Both were tasty, I would go back again.

Perfect, super friendly service and a great selection of (draught) beers. Went twice during our stay in Philly, simply lovely!

We found The Plough quite by chance and enjoyed our meal so much on Sunday night that we returned here on Monday night! Great food, reasonably priced, and attentive staff!

Transport yourself to the British Isles when you enter this authentic looking Irish Pub. Menu looks wonderful - though we did not have a meal there. Will certainly return to taste the Shepard Pie. Great place to meet for cocktails - close proximity to newly opened Museum of American Revolution.

Subtle inviting street lighting and warm entranceway glow drew us inside for a look. And, what a lucky find. Charming host and owner. Cheery - friendly atmosphere and service. Excellent draft brew and menu selections. Artfully prepared dinners with flavors that compete with the uptown elite. Only 2 blocks from Independence Square and modest pricing as well. A truest lucky find.

Our whole family strolled to dinner at the Plough & the Stars after a play at the Arden which is an easy walk, and it is now my favorite restaurant in Philly. The atmosphere was outstanding. It's a large, very high ceiling, and open restaurant. There is a full bar with upstairs balcony seating in addition to indoor and outdoor seating downstairs. It looks like it was a an old bank with huge windows and ornate walls. The service was great. The entire menu looked good and prices were reasonable. The Brussels Sprouts were the best I have ever had and the smoked salmon on the tapas plate was just as good. The shepard's pie seemed only slightly too salty, but our staff was Irish and I am not...so I will not assume to tell them how to make shepard's pie. So to summarize, the neighborhood is full of life, the place itself is well done, the price point was reasonable and two of our meals ranked as some of the best I have ever had.....

We met my daughter and her boyfriend here for dinner. Dark I used the candle on the table to read the menu. You have to walk down a rather dark alley to get there, but safe. Great local beer and phenomenal Irish stew!

Went for lunch on a Saturday. It was not terribly busy. Interior looked nice. Old building with some interesting architecture. They have sidewalk seating but it is 3 feet from the road with a lot of traffic and we smdid not care to have exhaust fumes with lunch. Interior seating was about half full, we were seated right away. We both ordered fish and chips. It took about 30 minutes for the order to arrive. The waitress came to us about 28 minutes after we ordered to tell us the food would be out in a minute. It came out right after that. The fish was a beer battered haddock. The batter was crispy but very heavy. Flavor was okay. I think I got the last of the batch of fries. Some were small little pieces that were overcooked. Other pieces were cooked okay. I would describe the fish and chips as marginal. I have had much better at many other places. The food was not bad, just not any better than average. With all the other choices in the immediate area, I would opt to try another place rather than seek this place out again. Our waitress was friendly but not particularly attentive. Particularly as it was not all that busy in her section.

We went with friends on a Sunday evening for a bite to eat and to listen to the music. On Sundays they have live Irish music. This night it was a three man band and they were quite good, playing all sorts of Irish tunes from ballads to lively music that made you want to dance. I loved that they had a fire going in the fireplace (especially since it was a cool, breezy day). Luckily it was not too busy so we were seated promptly. The food was good (not outstanding) and the wait staff was pleasant and fast. We had a very nice evening.

Just stopped in for a couple of Guinness's and enjoyed the gorgeous architecture of this former bank, and especially the roaring fire on a chilly day. Fine young bartender and servers too. Food looked good so maybe next time.

We didn't eat here, but the bar has a good selection of draught beers. Great architecture. Good bartenders and wait staff. The large fireplace had a blazing wood fire which added to the already good ambience.

The Plough & The Stars is one of our favorite places to eat while in Philadelphia. Usually we go for an event somewhere and have dinner here. Always warm, cozy, and inviting. Shepherds Pie is my usual go to meal while here and someone else always gets Fish & Chips. Adding an Irish Mule so plates our evening.

A very clean bar and restaurant. The women's bathroom was beautiful. The bartenders are authentic Irish and Scottish people. The woman bartender was extremely helpful. She pointed us to more bars in the area that were good for 40+.

We were seated quickly. Staff was great. Our dinners were delicious and we very much enjoyed dining here/////////////

The Plough & the Stars (which means the Big Dipper constellation) is a popular Irish pub in "Old City". They have a good food menu - more than pub food. And they offer a nice selection of beers on tap & in bottles. The service is friendly & attentive - even with a large group in a very busy pub. It gets crowded - but they will take reservations.

Lunch on a saturday was very good. I recommend the fish chowder. I have had it before and it is tasty and substantial. I love the poached pear salad with walnuts ,goat cheese and spring mix. This place has always been underatted as far as food. It is less costly than many of the nearby places as well.

We were on walk through in Philadelphia and were looking the place to eat. As I saw the Pub I suggested my wife to go there because of beer :). Surprise surprise :)) the food was amazing as well. The stuff was very helpful with choosing the menu and beer.. :) Definitely a place to be in Philadelphia

My husband and I stopped in at the recommendation of a friend on our recent visit to Philly. Service was slow to start but VERY friendly once things got rolling. The beer was cold and the fish and chips were tasty. AND on Sunday evenings they have a live Irish band. Even though we were sitting right next to them, they weren’t that loud. We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun pub experience.

I've been to the Plough a few times. The location is very convenient near Independence Hall. It's a charming establishment with staff, service and food to match. I've had the shepherd's pie and fish and chips, but my mainstay is now the Guinness casserole. It's hearty, adequately sized, and full of flavor. Erin, one of the servers, is a pleasant young lady who is helpful to sort out the specials and even lets you know when happy hour is ending if you need a last call.

I love this place. Everything from the beers to the food to the entertainment and service is great. The bartenders really go out of their way to get to know the customers and are always in a good mood. I recommend this bar for everything they have to offer.

Went in for a Sunday drink and of course Celtic football was on. Great family atmosphere during the day. Great selection of draft beer and a good food menu.

Very good pub near Independence Park and the new Museum. Very reasonable prices and good, if not great good. Brunch menu was so good that it made it hRd to choose an entree. Good drink and food prices. Came here one evening but it was crowded for happy hour we couldn't find a seat. . But there is dining upstairs. Would surely come again.

We went here after a business meeting for dinner and drinks. The menu has classic food with an Irish flair. The attentive service and atmosphere really rounded out the experience. I'd go back

In a city with many Irish pubs, the Plough and the Stars stands out. Great pub menu. Plus, if you go late Sunday afternoon, there’s excellent live traditional Irish music. A very cool spot in Philly.

My fish and chips (one HUGE chunk of well fried fish) was wonderful. We were here mid afternoon and the wait staff was absolutely wonderful. Helpful in secret places to go in Phily.

We went there based on a recommendation by a National Parks employee after visiting Independence Hall. She said it was her husband's favorite. I think she meant his favorite place to drink alcohol. I wanted fish and chips. The fish was good but the batter was not done right and was soggy with oil and did not stick to the fish. Service was really slow and I mean really slow. Figure 1.5 hours for lunch. Not worth the walk. And lunch was over $30.00 for two with no alcohol.

We came here for my son's birthday and had a very nice lunch. We ordered bread pudding with ice cream for him and they put a candle on it when they brought it out. They also brought out a plate with Happy Birthday written in raspberry sauce. I had the savory French toast and the boys had the Angus burger and fish and chips. Everything was tasty and a good value for the money.

Philadelphia cheese steak sandwich. We were told we had to try one of these whilst in Philadelphia. it wasn't on the menu, but the kind waitress asked the kitchen and they obliged but preparing two for us. The staff were delightful. Thanks.

This restaurant was an absolute delight. Our waitress was so helpful. I know, I know...this is an Irish restaurant, but I wanted pasta. The waitress assured me it was good. I have to tell all, it was better than delicious. Prices were reasonable for Center City. and the atmosphere was nice.

Caveat: We visited the restaurant during Center City Restaurant Week, so we were restricted only to the items available for that event and a few extra bar food. We ordered the duck feuilletté, baby rack of lamb, and fried calamari (bar menu). The duck was very flavorful and the accompanying salad was lightly dressed with a tangy vinaigrette that balanced out the savory duck and rich pastry. The rack of lamb was so tender and moist and unadulterated. The accompanying potato au gratin was ok - we wished the potatoes were more tender so it can meld better with the cheese sauce. The vegetables were cooked well (we think it was broccoli rabe?). The fried calamari came as huge chunks of squid. The squid was tender and the coating was crispy... until you get to the bottom of the pile. There was a pool of oil and this made the coating of the bottom pieces soggy and greasy. We ended our meal with their dessert sampler consisting of what looked and tasted like a chocolate truffle on top of flavored whipped cream and a drizzle of raspberry/strawberry sauce and a small dish of creme brulee. OMG. Hands down, that was the best creme brulee we ever had. It was creamy, luscious, and had an interesting light butterscotch taste that married well with the crunchy, bitter caramel top. To die for! Service was not bad; it was busy and we had to wait a while to give our order and to receive our food. The restaurant had a cozy, but elegant ambiance, which is perfect for a date night. We will definitely be returning to try their full menu and put more creme brulee in our mouths!

My daughter and I stopped here for lunch after doing the Segway tour. We were able to eat outside on a gorgeous day in the shade. She didn't love her meal (chicken fingers), but I'm not factoring her opinion in, because her main gripe was the homemade buffalo sauce which I liked! LOL I had the pear goat salad which was amazing. Our server was great too.

Lovely authentic Irish bar, lovely food and great service, our waitress, Michelle, was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, highly recommended.

A group of 12 of us had dinner at the Plough & The Stars on the Friday night before the Army-Navy Football Game. Making the reservation was easy and I loved the reminder the day before! We were quickly seated at a table by the windows. Service was fast and very attentive. The waitress was even graciously willing to split the checks by the different couples/families there. Loved the number and variety of beer on tap. We had the buffalo wings as an appetizer which I would highly recommend! Messy, but delicious! They had the regular buffalo flavor but without the bite with an interesting Asian flavor. Everyone liked their meal - fish & chips, Guiness Casserole, Plough steak fritte. I'd recommend it and would go back!

Normally an Irish bar in the States is nothing short of a cliché. Not this place...thankfully I went during lunch and the Celtic vs Copenhagen match was on. The locals were alive! Sadly Celtic team lost; however...Emma was my server and her recommendation was the Chicken Curry, paired with a Smithwick's, and completed with an Irish Coffee absolutely hit the spot. Needless to say the service was pure perfection, and Emma was a delight with the brightest smile (your colleagues will rib you for that now haha). Thank you for a beautiful afternoon to this pub and I will most certainly visit often until they know me by name.

The Plough & The Stars is a nice Irish bar/restaurant in a historic building in Olde City. We dropped in for drinks right before the end of their happy hour and liked what we saw. There is an attractive long bar in the back and cozy seating along the walls with low lighting as well as a fireplace with low seating. The menu looked good and the service was excellent the short time we were there. Though it is a Irish bar it didn't seem overly Irish which is not meant to be a negative, and we would certainly return the next time we are in the area.

top boozer and great welcome by john joe devlin again , spent the st patricks parade weekend in philly along with the ploughbhoys csc

I have been here dozens of times over the years. By myself, with my wife, with my sons, for work. Always a great meal. Sensational service and hospitality and good prices. Live music a lot of the time. Check on what menus are offered on the weekend and when. We came at an in between time on a Sunday and ended up between menus. So some of their landmark meals were not available. But just check and you’ll be fine.

Stopped by on a Saturday for a late lunch. I had the shepherds pie-very good. My wife had the fish n chips-also very good and a very large piece of fish. Now the but. Why would you have a “brunch menu” on a Saturday? Very limited and while we were eating approximately 4-5 perspective tables walked in and after seeing the menu walked out. Brunch is for a Sunday.

If you like to have a nice Irish pub experience in old city Philadelphia, this is the place to go. Nearby is the Irish Memorial and literally it is within walking distance. If you need to park your car, no need to search the streets of the local for parking, the parking garage is adjacent to the restaurant. We had reservations for dinner at 5 PM, Sunday, but we arrived early so we had the pub menu instead. My wife had the sheperd's pie, and loved it. It was not mush, the vegetables were easily found. I had the curry chicken with fries. I loved the curry and the fries were with the curry, with the right amount of spice. Service was bright, cherry and prompt. My mother-in-law's birthday was that day, and I have to say, the creme brulle was selected as our desert, and happy birthday was sung to her as the deserts arrived. Irish Music is on after five on Sundays. The restaurant has the charm of old Philadelphia with high ceilings, thick walls and old wood work. There is a second level to the restaurant as well for additional seating. There is sidewalk city for those who prefer a al fresco dining.

My family and I came here by chance. We were walking through the Philadelphia and both exterior and interior seemed interesting. Final verdict - the food is amazing!!! I had Hawaiian swordfish, my husband had Guinness Casserole and our daughter had fried Calamari. Food taste is astonishing! Service is friendly and nice. The guy who served us was really pleasant and helpful 😊 And beer was just WOW. I am happy to return here anytime and to recommend it to anyone visiting Philly 🍀☺

Honestly, where do you start? Go and Bing it - there must be more to life than Google? It is a converted bank at a street corner. Mine host is a cheery Ulsterman. The log fire is roaring, the beer is good, Rosie the waitress is warm and welcoming, the food, prepared by a Frenchman, is imaginative and original (confit de duck with lamb chops on mash a triumph). Heck, even the vinegar is Irish. In this unseasonably cold spring, a log fire roaring, great music and warm light pulling you in off the street, this cannot be beaten. There’s even Neil Lennon on the website.

My wife and I were in town visiting friends and decided on this place for a drink. The attendant promptly seated us and our server was very good explaining the beverage options. The atmosphere was nice and the price was fair. Will come back again.

On a girls trip. Outside looked clean and welcoming and we decided to give it a try. We were immediately welcomed by not only our waiter but by the bartender. Our waiter Shane was informative, pleasant, funny and very patient with 3 middle aged women! Drinks were delicious- food just as equally comparable. We had the chicken wrap and the shepherds pie. Bathrooms were immaculate! Highly recommend!

Very attractive and located conveniently in historical area this pub serves excellent food in addition to a great bar. There is an upstairs dining area in addition to the Main Street level space but be cautioned that noise carries up and when it's busy downstairs it can be really noisy upstairs

We were seeking a fabulous, traditional, Irish pub/restaurant. Our research pointed to this establishment, The eatery was located at colorful and interesting part of Philadelphia, housed in an impressive looking building. So far so good. A paid but inexpensive parking lot located next door, unusual for a major city. Good again. We were beginning to salivate for authentic Irish foods. As we enter, we were received by very gracious staff; and no confusion with our reservation. Good, good, good. We were led to very comfortable seating area, except dreadful noises worse than a world soccer game, compounded by the hellish acoustics. Menu was very interesting but none resembled Irish, except perhaps Shepard Pie and Fish and Chips. Our gracious serving person was very helpful and we managed order our meals with his help. When our food arrived, each dish was colorful and attractive. But, of course, we were facing nuvo-yuppy munchies than good old Irish food from Old Kilarney. Beside fine presentation, foods were very tasty. Yeah, we will be still searching for Irish meals at a civilized and quiet corner .

My husband and I stopped in after a day of sight seeing in Philadelphia. We had a great young lady as our waitress who was actually from Ireland. I had the shepherd's pie and my husband had the shrimp pasta. Both entrees were very good. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was very inviting too!

Came in off the street and glad we did. I had the Guinness Casserole and it was spectacularly good. I didn't know what to expect and was delighted to find out that it is a pot roast as good as any I've ever had in my 76 years. My wife had the Shepard's pie. The flavoring was good but proportions were off: too much potato relative to meat mixture, hence the food rating downgrade. Server was attentive, efficient and friendly, although hard to evaluate because we arrived at 2:30 PM and the place was mostly empty. Comfortable Irish pub decor with a live fire in the fireplace. Prices not a bargain but a good value.

Great bar with really friendly staff, great music and atmosphere. Great supply of differents drinks, beer and liqueurs.

I pissed , ordered lolly pop lamb chop 2 days in ah row . Each time lamb chops Jst got more tiny . Them tiny lamb chops should b put in order as an extra thts how small they r. I’ve never sold less food to my customers. I want ah refund cause I’ll b there tomorrow since y’all 🐓 closed earl

Came for dinner after theatre matinee. Seated quickly. Server very nice. Lots of great beers on tap. Food mediocre at best. We had shepherds pie and chicken curry. The curry had a little fire to it which was good but hardly any curry taste. It was served with yellow rice and French fries! What?!!! Yes. Why would they do that? I think the veg of the day would have been nice instead of 2 starches. Was it edible? Yes. Would I order it again? no. Would I recommend it? No. Shepherds pie the same. Nice pub vibe. Come for a beer. Eat elsewhere

Five of us went in around 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday. The only menu available to us was their brunch menu - which was fine - plenty of variety. The waiter was a very serious young man who did his best but forgot things - water, ketchup, spoon and even though it was slow it was tough to get his attention. The food is fine - nothing spectacular just good, well cooked food. We all had breakfast type food (brunch) and the eggs were scrambled well, the sausage and bacon were done right, etc. The interior is Irish pub with well spaced tables and a nice fire at one end. I suspect it is more of a place for drinking and burgers in the evening than a "special" brunch spot but reliable food.

I looked this up and really liked the menu. we wanted a quaint place in historic Philadelphia with good food. This was the place. it was decorated for Halloween with a life sized werewolf and witch. there was a fire burning in the fireplace. I had the pear salad and the crab cake it was delicious. Felicia our waitress was so nice. it had been a long stressful day and she pampered us. I can't wait to go again.

We came to The Plough & The Stars after our BYOB trolley tour. We were happy that we're able to quickly stay ten of us. The food was very good- I had the mushroom fricasee and the angus burger. Both were delicious. It was a great dinner!

If you are poking around Independence Hall and other nearby attractions, this is a great place to stop for lunch, afternoon snack, beer, etc. Great service and terrific ambiance. Well worth the little stroll to get here from the main tourist areas.

Burger was sub-par, poorly dressed and somewhat dry. The fries were $5 extra and not worth it (and it felt like I bit down on grit/dirt a few times). The bathroom was dingy. The only thing I liked was that they had a real fireplace in the downstairs dining room.

Our group of 8 experienced three serving errors. One corrected meal did not arrive until everyone else was nearly done eating. Turns into a loud disco making it impossible to talk.

Irish Pub with usual food. I had a COTTAGE PIE. Quite good and a generous serving. My husband had FISH AND CHIPS. Which He enjoyed. Service was friendly. It was late afternoon . Few diners.

Good service. Food fine. We sat outside when it was nicer indoors with the aircon on. Mushroom dish interesting. Pear salad recommended

The Plough & The Stars is situated close to the Penn’s Landing area in Philadelphia. It is a short walk from 2nd Street station on line L1. We popped in here for some sustenance after visiting the nearby Museum of the American Revolution. It is very much an Irish bar and we had an enjoyable chat with the lady proprietor who hailed from Dublin. I had a few pints of the excellent Yard’s Philly Pale Ale and enjoyed some very nice calamari with thousand island dressing. Service was good and the general ambience most pleasant.

Full disclosure...lots of places were closed so we saw that this was open. Sat outside. Was nice. Perfect weather. We were hungry.bordered fish sandwich, chicken sandwich and buffalo tenders and fries. Cocktails were nice and strong. Food was hot and fresh. We finished every bite. Service was fine. Owner or manager approached us as leaving and was very friendly. No complaints. Would return.

We went into The Plough for drinks one nite while at a convention. It was wonderful! Music was great, atmosphere so warm and welcoming. Went back for lunch the next day and they had Irish Music -- a jam session of many artists. It was even better! Food, delicious and reasonable.

A family get together with over 10 guests and they handled it great, had the Guinness stew, delicious.

We didn’t know where to eat and the hotel recommended this establishment. The food was great and Jordan, our server was tremendous. We shared the Guinness Casserole, it was fabulous. For an appetizer the Brussel sprouts were some of the best I have ever had.

Went for restaurant week so there was a limited menu but was not disappointed. The mussels were in a wonderful brandy and cream sauce. Fillet mignon was cooked perfectly. Dessert was yummy. Our waitress was so accommodating and attentive. Overall a great experience.

We stumbled into the charming bar after a long day of sightseeing. It is comfortable and cozy and retains many charming and historic features. we found the wait staff to be friendly and knowledgeable. The bar to be well stocked and the food to be delicious. Great place for a drink and a snack.

Large space with indoor and outdoor seating, slow/inconsistent service and food. Guinness casserole was very good, apple bread pudding gluey & bland, take-out order wrong (shouldn't have to double-check).

Great welcoming staff, great selection of drinks, we went for a pre-dinner drink and ended up eating there, food was magnificent and reasonably priced and we stayed all night and had great craic with Austin and the Glaswegian from Wales. Highly recommend this pub, it must be the best Pub in Philadelphia.

Restaurant week: great service, waitress was attentive. Food was outstanding: salmon basmati rice and sauté spinach. Irish beers Harp was not cold served room temperature. Daughter has the filet and loved it. We did not have reservations but were able to get a table. $$$$

We stopped visited Plough and Stars for a weekday lunch while visiting Philadelphia recently. It was conveniently located within a few blocks of our hotel and many historical sites. They offer a nice menu with a nice variety of choices. The spirits menu was also pretty good. We enjoyed a good lunch – two sandwiches – haddock and grilled cheese. Pretty basic, but they were good. The French fries were especially tasty. Service was good – our server was attentive, and meals arrived quickly.

Eating outside is such a treat in the city- and the food didn't disappoint. Make sure to come during Happy Hour- lots of good choices with food and drink. The fish and chips was amazing.

We ordered calamari as an appetizer which was delicious and there was more than enough to share with another person. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was equally delicious and the roll had a nice buttery flavor. The sandwich was served with crispy seasoned french fries. Yummy! The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Every Sunday evening from 5-9 PM there is live traditional Irish music. Meal prices were very reasonable. A large serving of calamari, 2 Philly cheesesteak sandwiches with French fries was $30. Well worth the cost.... Highly recommend "The Plough & The Stars"

The food was great, and the service was excellent. We enjoyed the atmosphere and plan to return when we visit Philadelphia again.

What a place. My friend turned me on to the Plough and Stars, located right in the heart of Philly's old town. They have a bartender called "John Joe" or "Joe John", who is just hilarious! Don't get him going- he won't quit! The food here is also delicious. Try the curry chicken over fries.

Food was excellent! Service was great! Atmosphere was lively with a positive vibe. Get the steak frites or fish & chips!

We dined here in a Saturday night for dinner and the food, service, and atmosphere were awesome! I enjoyed a pineapple hard cider with the Shepherd's Pie...beer, outstanding bread and butter too! My husband got a rum and coke and the steak with peppercorn sauce. He loved it. We liked the wood burning fireplace and the calm atmosphere with music and a nice vibe. Very chill. Very nice.

We came here on June 10th for lunch. Our server, Ashley, was very nice and helpful. I had the haddock sandwich. It was very good. My husband had the fish and chips. It was a huge portion. He enjoyed it very much. The owner was very friendly and chatted with everyone. We would stop back.

We only had a few drinks here but it was a pleasant experience. We went late at night And sat outside on the street watching the world go by. Attentive staff. Would recommend.

Whether you eat inside by the hearth, upstairs away from the crowds or outside in the chaos, its always a fun night. I definitely like the wholesome food choices but I really relish the small plates that are not really that small. It is good for a group, couples, families or just a single wanting to have a quick bite. We also enjoy watching the big screen TV when the Sports Teams (i.e. Phillies, Olympics, etc.) are playing. The bar is socialized by a varied age group too and everyone seems to delight in conversation, music (I've been to the Jam Sessions on Sunday afternoons in the winter) and eating. Waite staff is attentive and service is good. But, it's all about the food which is prepared well and with nice variety.

We had a nice lunch. It was inside seating. There are two levels. The service is good. The food was very good. The portions are large.

It was a busy evening in the neighborhood. We walked to the district where the Ploughing is located and everywhere was busy! We were seated fairly quick and the food was fantastic PUB Fare. And the service was great from the attitude side , super friendly but way understaffed ! We would defiantly come back and the atmosphere is great ! From wedding parties, to family’s , to couples on dates and business dinners , we saw it all .

Arrived for Happy hour (4-6), at bar only, and only drink specials so, meh. Brussel sprouts appetizer good. Dinner: Haddock sandwich, good, crispy and hot but fish just barely fit bun. Fish and chips, OTOH, large piece of fish. Very good. Really enjoyed the Pear and gorgonzola salad, the chowder was good, not great. Guinness casserole good, not great also. Prices reasonable. We stayed and played cards at our table, staff nicely accommodated us!

Lots of bars and restaurants on this street and was busy on a Friday night...decorated for Halloween already so pretty cool. Irish bar primarily but we did drinks, chicken tenders and calamari both which were very good and a good sized happy hour plate. Happy hour prices excellent too.

My second trip to Philly and 4th time to The Plough.. by far the best food in the city. The wings are amazing!

Great food and wonderful service, we were looked after by the staff very well regularly providing drinks including iced water. The guinness stew was lovely and roasted brussels very tasty

Worse experience ever at a restaurant. I travel extensively and dine out extensively. We had a reservation for party of nine. Ordering drinks and food for three hours. All very professional people at table. The manager comes to our table and tells us we have leave as they have other reservations. Place was only 3/4 full. When we made the reservation three week ago, we told them we would be staying possibly to closing. Not only did they accept our Rez but called us three times to confirm. Each time, they did not express any concern about how long we wanted to spend at the table. At the end of the day, it's not like this was an epicurian delight as the food is always mediocre. But we were enjoying the music and drinks. So when we explained all this to manager she insisted that it doesn't matter what was agreed at time of reservation. She then decided for some reason to have the bouncer come to our table. He was extremely courteous but was only following orders. This restaurant manager embarrassed my associate and in front of our guests. Now, they have seen the last of our money and patronage. Assuredly 9 disgruntled diners will share this ridiculous experience.

Besides the exceptional menu offerings, the atmosphere is always inviting. Our visit occurred on a blustery March evening. Upon entering we were met by the ambiance of a fire in the fire place. The evening continued to warm up with the friendliness of our waiter Tim. Great ambiance, food, and drinks totaled another great experience.

We arrived around 1:30 in a Saturday, Pleased at the location and ambiance. There were patrons but it wasn’t busy. We were given menus with a small card tucked in that read ‘specials’. There were approx 6 entrees listed.I was excited to see the last one was Lamb sliders. The only price listed on the bottom of the card was 2 for $14.99. Each of us(4) ordered one of the specials. The waitress asked us if all ordered specials on purpose. We said yes, it was a good deal. Two of us ordered beer as well. We enjoyed our meal. I raved about my Lamb sliders. When we received the check, the sliders were $14.99 and the other three entrees were charged at full price. The waitress said the register must not have rung them right. She returned and said it had rung up correctly. We questioned that because they were on the specials card and there were no other prices listed but 2/$14.99. She said she had to check with the manager. Her manager came out and told us we were wrong, the entrees were full price as listed on the menu. We protested this, because we ordered from their advertised specials and the waitress knew that’s what we understood the price to be when we ordered. The manager told us she had to call the owner. 15 minutes later, she came back and arrogantly stated,”the prices are on the regular menu. We will not take any charge off the bill” We protested again. We didn’t even look at the menu when we saw the specials! She reiterated what the owner said. My son and his wife relented and paid the bill. We told the tables around us to watch out that they didn’t get swindled too. It’s sad that the REPUTATION of Plough and Stars is worth <$50. Was it bait and switch? Either that or inability to take responsibility for their mistake. It’s bad juju and business. What I found in the ladies room, was gross. I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like.

We were waiting for our table around the corner at Han Dynasty, so rather than hang around the entry, a drink at The Plough seemed like a good idea. And it was! An excellent array of draft and bottled beers (I had my first draft Harp in many years) in the hopping bar was the ticket for us. I can't speak for the food, but given the crowd I suspect it's pretty popular. We were lucky to get a table. 2 thumbs up!

ME and my husband visited with friends.. The half pound burger was huge, but the rinky dinky hamburger bun it came on sucked. Their great large burger needs a large kaiser bun to fit the burger. The fish was the best with an awesome batter. A definite to buy. well worth the price. They had a table of Irish instruments, flutes, violins, guitars, all sounded great if you sat next to them. No microphones, too much backgound noise. Couldn't hear from our table.

Very nice Irish bar and restaurant located in a renovated old bank building. Main floor bar and table seating with additional seating in front of a massive fireplace. Additional upstairs seating open to main floor.,,Variety of drafts, including creamy Guinness! Good Irish coffee. Nice menu selections including several Irish classics Guinness Stew, Shepherd's Pie, Ham and Cabbage and The Irish Breakfast, to name a few. The Potato Leek soup is very good. And the Irish brown bread is made fresh in house and is the best. It is usually available for purchase and freezes well. Decent Irish entertainment on weekends with a real Irish sessions on Sundays.

Wonderful atmosphere, food has suffered lately. We enjoy going on Sunday nights to hear the Irish music. The food and service lately has not been good however.

I frequently travel to Philly on business. Coworkers introduced me to this restaurant because it is convenient where I usually stay. It is not a large menu but what is on it is done well. My favorite is the buffalo tenders with the house salad. The leftovers become the next day's lunch.

The angus sirloin burger with goat cheese on the brunch menu is the best burger I think I've ever had. Cooked to my exact specifications. Juicy. Tender. And that goat cheese. So good!

This place is wonderful! The building is old nad has lots of character, located in the middle of so many other places. parking wasn't too far, just a short walk from the public parking lot. The food was absolutely divine! I was there for lunch, but since then I heard its a great place to go in the evening for music and drinks...I have no doubt about that! 100% recommend this place!

We wanted a quick dinner before a show last week. We stumbled upon this restaurant and were very glad we did. Our waiter was excellent, and the food was very good. We were in and out of there with time to spare. I had the tapas appetizer for dinner - loved the salmon and the hummus. My husband had beef which was delicious. As a bonus, we had some lively entertainment. My only concern was that it was pretty loud in there, but that's to be expected in this type of building and given the amount of people having some serious fun.

We took our family friends here when they were visiting. We have enjoyed this little pub on other occasions. The food and the beer selection have been great. On this occasion, we had a server that was having a very difficult time (in training). So our food was served before we received our beverages, etc. Won't hold it against this place as we know that these things sometimes happen.

We looked at reviews as we were needing a break from seeing the historic sites. Found this restaurant and sat outside. Waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. Ribs were delicious. Have to pay for bread but it was worth it. Tried to go back the next day but couldn’t get seated. Yummy friendly restaurant!

Nice ambiance and upper level bar area, good cozy spot for a beer and some food. Would go back soon.

This is a great place on a Sunday evening when Irish musicians strike it up. The food is good, but the lively atmosphere is what really makes the place. Great place to go with a group. Almost like being in Ireland.

We live in Philadelphia but occasionally act like tourists, like the other day when we went to the new Museum of the American Revolution at 3rd and Chestnut. We were looking for a simple lunch with good food and found it at this great Irish Pub on 2nd Street. The food was fine, but what really stands out here is the service. Really knocked us out and made the experience a memorable one.

My husband and I were staying nearby and walked around the Old Town neighborhood. We liked the look of Plough and Stars and gave it a try. Not sure what the building used to be but it has soaring ceilings, windows, a great atmosphere and huge fireplace on the main level. We sat at a high top in the bar area and service was very good from Sara T. Several TVs. Bill before tip was $54 (3 pints, 1 bottle, wings, shepherds pie).

We visited here twice, once for the music (and beer and a meal), and a second time after a tour. Excellent food and service both times. If you are in town on a Sunday the afternoon music comprised of 20+ individuals simply enjoying the play, the company and a pint. Really cool.

Umpteenth stars the best bar restaurant I've ever been in the world. An environment of pure charisma to the general patron.

I stopped by the Plough and Stars for lunch. This had the feel of a traditional Irish Pub, right down to the bartender with the Irish accent. The fish stew was very good! I had the Philly Cheesesteak and it was very good. My friend had the fish and chips and commented on how tasty it was. The food and service were outstanding. If you like Irish Pubs, this is the place to go!

we went here for dinner last week it was very good mussels were great and the roasted chicken was great also would go back

I enjoy dining here early before it gets too noisy and busy. They have a very excellent and extensive menu and the food is always very good and reasonable priced with lots of drafts on tap

Loved sitting outside and watching the activity in downtown Philly. We had very sweet server and was comfortable and relaxing.

We ate at the Plough & Stars our last night in Philadelphia when we were there in April, 2018 on a vacation visiting the historic sites. I had the guinness casserole and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the New York Strip steak and it was very good as well. The most wonderful flavor. The service was great. They were very attentive. We would definitely recommend it.

My wife and I were in search of a late night snack. We stumbled upon the Plough and The Stars. The waiter (John) was very welcoming and he stretched the kitchen hours a wee bit for us. It was just appetizers, but they were very good, and the ambiance and staff were great. They made us feel like locals, and want to return soon. I hope we will.

Four of us had a great meal here. Food was good and the service was fantastic. I am gluten free and they had no problem accommodating me.

The "Plough" is a popular place for locals/regulars and the swell of tourists that pass by daily en-route to historic Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. This two-level restaurant features an ample comfortable bar with emphasis on Irish liquors and beers. But the luncheon and dinner menu truly excels with off-beat delicious selections sure to please all tastes. For my multiple visits my constant favorite is the Guinness Casserole, meaty Cubes of Beef Slowly Braised with Guinness, Pearl Onions & Carrots with Mashed Potatoes, lunch $14.00 or Shepherds Pie at a reasonable $11.00. A parking garage next door discounts for dinners, an added bonus!

Several family members (9 of us) met here prior to seeing a show at the Arden Theater. We were greeted with smiles and pleasantries. Our waitress whose name escapes me was one of the most pleasant people we have ever met. The food we had was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. We will return.

We got right in on a busy Saturday night. We had a lovely table on the second floor loft area. Everything was nice but our waitress Eryn went above and beyond for all of our silly request and there was no type of rush for us to finish and get out. We literally spent hours there enjoying the atmosphere and of course the sweet bread. Very thankful for her kindness.

We ate here during restaurant week. The meal was wonderful, the blue cheese on the house salad starter was flavoursome and creamy. I had a pork ribeyewhichwas perfectly cooked. The service was friendly and helpful. My husband wanted to try one of the local beers and they brought him a taster to help with his decision. I would recommend this restaurant.

We had a few drinks here after seeing Hell or High Water. The pub is in the old Corn Exchange Building and is a very nice venue. The food appeared to be standard. Service was relaxed and friendly.

You walk in and smell the fire in the fireplace and feel the ambiance and hope the food is as good (It is an Irish restaurant after all). It is. The staff was attentive and knowledgable. It wasn't overly busy but it had a good bar crowd going.

Many places think they are an Irish pub because they have an Irish name, but they aren't. This is not the case with The Plough & The Stars. A fabulous atmosphere in Old City with indoor and outdoor seating; a parking garage is next door. Traditional Irish specialities are served, but with a unique - and delicious - twist. And they can pour a proper Guinness. Friendly wait staff and bartenders. Don't miss this real Irish pub!

With JohnJoe Wed to Sunday the craic is here. Whether it's classic Shepherds Pie, moist flavorful crab cakes, an oh so perfect burger, or, a basket of the very BEST WINGS and a perfectly pulled half&half you won't be disappointed. Dont let the waitstaff's spotty service dampen your time because with the Pope's hat in the background, James Joyce in the foreground, and Derek and the Wolfetones playing by the fireplace, you will find it hard to not join the Scotsman in a rousing rendition of the Celtic Symphony. Slainte mhaith.

My son thought the fish and chips were very good. My poached pear salad was ok. There wasn't much feta in it- mostly leaves. Husband had a grain bowl with some very hard avocado and steak strips- mediocre. He had a very flat coke- must have been from a rarely used tap. Couldn't fault the staff. We sat outside-coved- and it isn't the nicest view. Boarded up shops and rubbish (in a very beautiful area). Best for drinkers not diners.

We were walking around and deciding on a lunch place and chose this restaurant . It is architecturally a beautiful building. A fire was lit with small tables around the hearth and there are various seating areas. It has a loft area with additional tables and a long bar. with a large selection of beers on tap.The service was good and not traditional pub food. The menu had selections for everyone at the table. I chose the tapas plate, which was a meal in itself, my husband had the salmon sandwich and my friend opted for breakfast fare. We walked in without reservations, however, this restaurant is really crowded in the summer and on warm evening and I would call about reservations.

It was early February in the midst of the pandemic so eating outside was the only "safe" choice. The fish and chips were the best I have had in Philly and the service was pleasant and efficient. The temperature was in the 30's and the wind was blowing as the waiter placed a space heater under our high top table and he assured us that it would keep us warm and it did, but not in a good way. Upon finishing our lunch I could smell a strong offensive odor, like something was burning. As I happened to look down, there was smoke coming from my boots and I later learned that the soles were melting. We spoke with the proprietor and explained what had happened. I cautioned that this could be dangerous. Upon getting home I realized the boots were ruined. Less than a week passed and I called the restaurant explaining the damage their heater had caused requesting a call back. A week passed and I called again . No return call. No offer to in some way take responsibility So the food was outstanding but be careful the heat!.

We stopped in for dinner the weekend before Halloween. The place is decked out for the holiday! Great table on the lower level and the wait staff was super attentive. We split the sausage appetizer and fish and chips. The sausages were a little greasy, but the fish and chips were great,

This restaurant was near our hotel, and after a long day of doing tourist things, we didn't want to venture far. It was a little early, so it was not crowded. The food was excellent. I had the braised beef with vegetables and mashed potatoes. I could eat it every night!

Popped in here on our last day in Philly for a quick lunch. The food was very good although it took far too long to come out considering we were only one of two tables.

Although we stopped in at a time between lunch and dinner, so there were not many people there, the bartender, Erin was great and the food was too! We topped off the meal with a good Irish Coffee! we plan on going back when we are in Phila. next time !

There were ten of us in our group that needed a late Saturday dinner. We happened on to The Plough & The Stars by chance. Though our group was large, we were accommodated quickly. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the specials. The food was very good and no one was disappointed. Portions were good and the prices are very reasonable. Nice pub atmosphere. Great service from our waitperson!

The four of us came down early on a Sunday morning to take a tour of USCG ship Eagle. We had noticed this restaurant before, on a earlier visit to the Museum of the American Revolution. We gave it a try after visiting the ship. It was just the perfect place for us . We got a seat in the corner where we got to meet our excellent waitress Jennifer. She's a sweetheart. Great food ,nice atmosphere. Our only problem was that we had to wait a little while for our food because a very large group had come in just ahead of us. We didn't mind. Jenn took good care of us old guys.I'm not quite sure what the range is for the 'expensive' category below but we thought prices were very reasonable.

We had brunch here it was good. Didnt like at all that spinach comes on the eggs benedict and that you cant get lunch menu at lunch time on a Sunday. Place is cool and service was great.

My spouse and I enjoyed an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon. Nothing special, but very nice none the less. The steak frite was quite good, and appetizers were appreciated. The room is large, and quiet enough to hold a normal conversation, a nice combination. The service was fine.

In the middle of the old part of Philly and near all the tourist attractions sits this nice Irish themed pub. A good beer selection included your Irish favorites, Guinness, Harp and Smithwick's along with all of the local micro-brews. The Saturday afternoon menu had lots of (oddly I thought) breakfast items and some other things. I had a traditional Irish breakfast. It was good and had many of the things one would expect including black pudding, good sausage, grilled tomato and bacon (American) all for $13. My wife had Shepard's Pie, $11 and thought it was good. The grandkids had noodles and butter, $7 each. We sat upsatirs overlooking the lower level of what might have been a bank building. An man with guitar sang Irish songs.

Server was great; very personable with good suggestions. Salad and entrees were very good. Two large groups made the restaurant noisy, but overall good atmosphere. Would definitely return when in the area.

My wife and I had dinner at this restaurant prior to a show and we really liked the restaurant and food. I had the duck con fit and she had the braised chicken, both of which were excellent (I had not had lamb in decades, but this was very good!). We will be coming back to hear the entertainment at a future date.

The Plough and the Stars once was a good experience. As time has gone by, the polish has come off but the food is still good. We sat outside and had appetizers and beverages. The brussel sprouts were delish!

Had dinner here with friends. Suburb food and a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We were looked after by a very attentive host who made sure we were well looked after. Also, loved the 80’s background music.🤗I had the mussels for appetizer followed by the salmon special with risotto which was fab. Also served to the group was the Guinness stew and the NY strip which were also well reviewed. All in all I would highly recommend this restaurant while in Philly.

We ordered dirty martini's that were so good. The lamb lollipops, mint sauce and crispy Brussel sprouts were so good our juices were flowing. The owner's came to our table to introduce themselves and ask if we were enjoying our entrees - no wonder this restaurant has been there twelve years! Modest prices and top quality food, cooked to perfection. We'll be back : )

I was so taken with The Plough and the Stars when I first visited that I knew I'd found a new home for my Philly-based Irish language group, Gaeilgeoirí Philadelphia. A lively atmosphere with tasty food and great “craic,” as the Irish would say. The live traditional Irish music is a dream! Go raibh míle maith agaibh!! <3

The Plough & The Stars was out of this world. Great friendly service with excellent food! Highly recommend for fast and fun bites.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday while visiting Philadelphia. Lunch was great and we discovered that there was live, traditional Irish music that evening so we came back for dinner. We were not disappointed. Food great. Music great. Service superb. The best Irish whiskey and single malt scotch lists I've seen. If you're in the Old City stop in if you like Irish pubs.

I visited here whilst exploring Philadelphia as been Irish and not used to the heat I was finding it tough going I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak and a 3 pints of local lager beginning with Y that I will not even attempt to spell and I was very impressed with my first experience of cheese steak, meet was tender and the taste beautiful the ideal bite given the weather. As for the lager it was dangerously easy to drink in such heat that you could get carried away as you were not feeling the effects as quick as some strong beers or cider Now we come to Service and I have to say it was top class there was a guy called Ruairi (hope I spelt it right) and his service, friendliness and warmth were top class. He been from Tyrone and me been from Down we had a great chat and between food, drink and chat I ended up spending nearly 3 hours Been from Ireland I don’t usually visit Irish bars abroad as there are usually filled with the stereotypical Irish cliches, loud music etc. This place could not be more different it’s an Irish bar but it’s not stuffed to the rafters with Irish cliches, a great atmosphere no crazy loud music and only one TV and the best staff I cannot speak more highly of this Bar/Restaurant Food excellent, Drink great and staff top class. Winning combo all round will definitely be Bank before my Holiday ends

Had not been to Plough and the Stars in a few years so decided to go for brunch after touring the Independence Hall area. Service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was not very crowded when we arrived at about noon on a Sunday but quickly started to fill up. I ordered a Bellini and a salad. My family ordered the Shepherd's Pie and the Chicken Fingers. My salad was very good. My husband enjoyed the Shepherd's Pie but said he was surprised that it was more tomato based. The food, service and atmosphere made for an enjoyable meal! Would recommend if you are in the area.

Been travelling all over USA eastern seaboard from Hamptons Long Island, Newport RI and down to Philly and this place is up there at the top. The mussel starter was best I have ever tasted. First stop next time I am back in Philly from Scotland !!!

We reserved for a 2PM late afternoon Christmas dinner at this iconic location and were very happy with our choice. As often happens when dining out in a popular place for Christmas, the rooms were jammed and some servers and bus-staff were smooth and experienced, while others seemed to be doing all this for the first time. Front desk people seemed especially flummoxed as, despite our reservations, they couldn't find our name on the list and so we waited...and then waited some more. Once seated, we were lucky enough to be served by one of the better waitresses. Also, of note, a young bread lady who offered a choice of brown bread or Irish Soda bread, was especially smooth. She also brought checks and apparently doubled as a server to some tables. Full service bar allowed one to pair beers and wines with the excellent food or just enjoy a good bourbon or good old Jack on the Rocks. Our food was delicious. For appetizer, the Mushroom Cheese Fricassee. Portobello Mushrooms in a brown sauce, smoked Gouda topped with Prosciutto and toast. My wife (Barbara) had the Guinness Casserole and she swore by it with meat falling off the bone. This is one of their signature dishes: Prime beef braised very slowly with Guinness, carrots, onions, green beans and of course, those wonderful all natural mash potatoes and gravy, always so perfectly done in an Irish Pub. I had the traditional Ham and Turkey with stuffing and naturally... what else...more of those awesome mash potatoes and green beans. Sampling Barbara's Guinness Casserole, that would be my choice next time around...but I am surely not complaining about my splendid dish...and there will be a next time around if we are all still happy and healthy. All this and a giant Christmas tree that skied through the lower rooms and in our upper floor offered a comfortable glowing view over the top. Thanks.

This is a sort of Oasis in a big tourist area when you are really hungry but don't want to take the first thing you see after a full morning's sight-seeing. Competition is high and I was very satisfied with the service, food and price I got here.

I really like this place and we have been coming for years so I hate to say anything bad especially since the food was really good, the decor cozy and the host was friendly and sat us quickly. Our waitress though was terrible she took our order brought our food and that was the last we saw of her till we paid our check. Even when she brought our food she was so quick to drop it off we didn't even have a chance to order more drinks. I could understand if it was busy but we were there for a late lunch so it was relatively quiet.

Just got into town for a wedding and wandered in here for some beverages and dinner. Fun place, great decor, very lively atmosphere! Enjoyed our appetizers....the calamari was light and crisp (aioli for dipping was meh), the wings were ginormous, and we loved the mussels. I got the pear salad, which was delish. Others in our party enjoyed the steak, someone got the curry chicken which was a little spicier than expected but still good. I thought our server did a great job for a busy Friday night. Glad we stopped in!

Stopped in with my husband for a drink while exploring around Philly. Bartender had me try the new Stateside Vodka. They had just received it from the distillery in Philly. He was very personable and accommodating. Enjoyed our pitstop at this Irish establishment.

We were invited to a private/VIP party at The Plough & The Stars. The atmosphere was great and so much fun. Emily was our server and she was awesome! When the building is packed full of people (and I mean packed) it's pretty warm in there.

The service is fast and the company is relaxed at an easy-to-find location on Chestnut Street. The staff is polite and the food reasonably priced.

We just went in on impulse while passing, The food was lovely, the portions ample, the beer and wine excellent, our waitress was very helpful. It was a Monday night so quiet, but still had atmosphere. Loved it.

This place offers a nice atmosphere in Philadelphia’s historic district. The food was good as was the beer selection. Help was friendly and prompt. This place is great for couples and also would be lots of fun with a large group.

I was on my way to an morning in Olde City and early, very unusual for me, so I saw this placed and stopped... asking for coffee. The bartender asked, No was the reply, at which point he said, "Know what... I could use some coffee!" and made us a pot. The owner (I'm guessing) came over and had a cup as well, and they both wished me luck. After the interview, I stopped in again to thank them, this time having a Scotch Ale and some appetizers that were really good. O'er the Christmas Holidays, the GF and I went to the Christmas Village. Cold & Hungry, looking for food & warmth, I said "HEY, Let's PLOUGH our way to the STARS!" This time, cozy fireplace and a mellow sound of a string trio of violin, mandolin & guitar, we soothed our way to the upstairs dining area with little wait time and without reservations. A warm Bourbon drink, a Cold Ale and some nice Irish Stew dishes filled our bellies and the caramel-topped bread pudding w/ice cream was too tempting not to share! And two tables over, looking and sounding as content as we were, was one Mandy Patinkin... the Actor... who graciously said hello on his way out. The restaurant bragged that they often get famous people in there... I just assumed they were speaking of me! The building itself is as much the attraction with it's high-ceilings and white-trimmed arches. I think it may have been a bank built in the early 1900's. So... quaint and cozy, warm and friendly, historic and modern, good food, good beer, great specials, some quizzo nights, some karaoke nights, some bands. It's like everything you'd want in an everyday place with some upscale characteristics but not pretentious. And they have a cub that you can earn points and get specials! P.S. take the EL!

Walking around Philadelphia and it was mid-afternoon. We were all hungry. Always find Irish Pubs fun and usually good food. This was better than expected. Sat at a table next to the fire place and enjoyed a great lunch. The prices were also very resonible considering we were in Society Hill area of Phila. My wife commented to the waiter that the bread the offered was the best she had ever had. He in turn told the owner, who made her a "to go" box of bread. Will go back for dinner and drinks the first chance we get.

Went in for lunch, server named Aubree M, wow, terrific. Food was over the top good, was told dinners are even better. Building had amazing character. A wonderful experience, we may have to make the 60 mile drive to return for dinner someday.

Excellent, reasonably priced pub food. I had the Guiness Pie (no crust) and my wife had the duck and lamb (sounds strange but it worked). Both were truly excellent. Good selection of beers, wines etc as complements. Worth a try.

If there is such a thing as an upscale Irish Pub this is definitely it. The atmosphere is very nice, the crowd at happy hour was lively and friendly, the service was good, and Guiness is never a bad choice. To top it off our server was a transplant from Ireland. We had been walking most of the day and so were happy to have a good place to rest our feet, have a couple of beers, and enjoy a little bar food. Overall a very nice experience.

I had the cottage pie which was very good. The service was good as well and the place has plenty of room.

Having been there several times, I can safely assert that Plough has something for everyone and it's all delicious. All of my vegan friends were blown away by how artfully done and how tasty the food was, and how attentive the chef is to detail. My non-vegan friends were equally impressed, and they also claimed that their food reached the pinnacle of perfection. I don't travel to Old City that much, but Chef Lenka and Plough are reasons to go.

As a resident in Philly this place has been around for years and their food and service is always good.

We ordered a beef burger and a chicken/prosciutto panino and both were very good for a quick lunch we were looking for. We sat outside enjoying the sun; service was speedy and the price just right.

Interesting place. Cool Irish music. Had the Angus burger and it was very good. Don't waste time on Curry fries, stick with plain fries. Would not consider it as a family place as it is a bar.

Everything you’d want in a bar. Good beer selection, menu choices all excellent. Service nearly perfect. TVs with sports if interested etc. worth a visit for sure

We were at another bar in Old Town and they recommended this restaurant. We went there the day after to escape the heat and humidity. We weee seated quickly and they brought us water immediately. The wait staff was so good and helpful in choosing what we should get. We had fish and chips and the size of the fish was huge. The flavors were so good and the drinks we had were very tasty The only downside was that they ran out of Magners. We will definitely go back here again

All the restaurants around this area and this was one that had a menu that wasn't too wild. One person in our party was a super picky eater and this menu had a variety of unique but not crazy items. The food was really good and so was the service! The bread was delicious too!

The food and atmosphere was excellent! The service was great and the dessert and drinks were out of this world!
Great Bar with Good Irish Food
Loved the sign outdoors so ventured in. Oh what a treat. The Scottish bartender was saucy and poured terrific libations. The regular patrons were very friendly and welcoming especially the Irish bartender and his two friends. We talked Philly, politics and past lives. Fun. We had the Fish and Chips which were good and crunchy.
