We came here after seeing all the good reviews on here. It did not disappoint at all. The only advice I can give is don't walk from broadway. We walked from there and it was a little further than we thought. Food wise I had the burger and a beer. The fries could have been hotter as they were warm but the food was still good and the service was excellent. If you arrive and you don't want to wait around(You will for a seat) get a drink at the bar and hang around for some seats to become available. We only waited for a few minutes.

This is a great place to gather with friends/family on a Sunday morning (but they don't open til 11am) brunch. My husband and friends love the French pressed coffee as well as the shrimp and grits (served with a poached egg at brunch, but you can ask for it prepared any way you want it and get it on the side). The potato resole was good and if the biscuits are fresh, they are a delight! Of course, the beer/wine menu is about 5 times the size of the food menu so you'll want to come back to try some of the unusual libations.

This place is incredible. Best place to sit is at the bar. The bartenders are crazy smart about everything they serve (beer and food). ALWAYS take their recommendations on the beers. Get the pretzel...seriously. And, highly recommend the duck confit reuben and the Brussels sprout hash. Good grief - need to go back soon.

My husband and I went to The Porter Beer Bar early in the evening before a Sevendust show at Masquerade, and it was the perfect choice. There are literally pages and pages and pages (and pages) of beer choices and it was a fun expedition to choose a few. My go-to craft beer is a hoppy IPA, so I started with one, but Monday Night Brewing's Como Te Llamas stout was out-of-this-world delicious! Though the beer is the star of the joint, the food was also good. I ordered the goat cheese fritters with the intention of getting the Arugula salad, but they were so large (and my husband doesn't like goat cheese) that I didn't get to the salad. Very tasty! My husband had the fish and chips, which was also good. I would characterize the menu as casual gastropub. I would have liked to had time for a second visit to try more food and beer items. It was a neat place all-around, and the service was friendly and upbeat.

The Belgian Fries with herbs, garlic oil, and charred onion mayo are so so good, and perfect after a few drinks! ;) The Goat Cheese Fritters with cracked black pepper and mulberry honey were also incredible, just be sure you really really like goat cheese before you commit. The service was great as well! Want to see even more delicious food? Follow @datethisplate on Instagram for more reviews and plates you will want to date!

Stopped one day with a friend to catch a beer. Boy, did I find a gem! I love the place. Eccletic...fun..and joval. Great place to look at all the contents of drinks!

Goat. Cheese. Fritters. The best thing I've tasted in a long time!! My new best friend at the t-shirt shop recommended them.

The French onion cheeseburger, macaroni & cheese, and arugula salad were so good! I don't know that I've ever seen such an extensive beer selection!

my brother and i stopped here after seeing it was very highly rated. it definitely lived up to the hype. the neighborhood wasn't as sketchy as some made it sound, kind of like downtown pdx or boulder. nobody bothered us. they had an awesome tap selection, and the food was AMAZING. we both agreed it was the best place we visited on our entire trip. very interesting but cool layout, service was excellent, would love to go back again!

The list of beverage options here is dazzling. Don't be fooled by the atmosphere because the food is pretty awesome too!

We stopped here after dinner for drinks. They have a huge selection of beers available and the atmosphere is nice. We didn't get to try the food, but will next time, based on a friends recommendation.

I live nearby and this is the place I go when I want to go out but am not sure where. Everyone I take here loves it and ends up coming back with me or on their own. The beer selection is unrivaled and the menu is small, but consistently delicious. I've never left here without eating the salt & vinegar popcorn. The only downsides are the narrow and crowded seating and, when very crowded, the noise, but these are also part of the charm. Love this place.

PBB wasn't crowded since we were there around 5:00. We sat in the very back and each ordered two beers and the salt and vinegar popcorn. I got the Three Taverns Sour Asylum #10 Basileus and a Creature Comforts beer. Both were really good. We liked the popcorn a lot, but if we ate it too fast, it made us cough. The vinegar got a little intense.

Located in funky Little Five Points, The Porter Beer Bar is a must stop. Seating is located in the back past the impressive bar with tons on draft. We enjoyed brunch-----shrimp and grits, French toast, and Arugula salad. All meals on menu come with a suggestion for beer pairings. Biscuits were unbelievably delicious! Fun place. Nice atmosphere.

Had late lunch here. One of the few restaurants in Atl that does not close at 3pm to reset for their dinner service.. Our table was at the front window, great people watching in Little Five. We had orders of shrimp and grits, and hamburger. Was excellent. Server was pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable. Huge selection of beer. Will take out of town guess here..

This is my favorite watering hole in Atlanta. The place is situated in Little 5 Points which is famous for transient people and eclectic artist trying to make a buck. This place has tons of beer with my favorites being their Belgian style beers. I’ve also had their food, my favorite is the Chili Mango Wings! Delicious. I would definitely rent a bicycle and ride from the Eastside BeltLine Trail to Little 5 Points, Super fun ride.

A bit hipster in little 5 points. A long skinney place with a step up every 20 feet. Great beer selection, though the draft menu is a bit on the hoppy side of life. When there are more than 10 beers on draft, it is best to order from the bottle menu.

The Porter is an awesome hang out beer spot. Craft beer heaven in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. We stop here for fancy beer everytime we bar hop L5P.

If you enjoy craft beer and good food, you must visit The Porter. I visit craft breweries often, and this place is like a catch all for an amazing selection, from draft to bottle. I spent most of my time browsing the selections. For my meal, I enjoyed the Belgian French Fries, which could be a meal in itself, and the burger. Both were as advertised.....Awesome ! Additionally, you could not beat the setting. Really cool layout for the bar itself. Great, knowledgeable staff that just seemed to know what you would like to drink based on sharing your previous selections. Without a doubt I will be back when in ATL. I will actually plan an additional day just to visit The Porter and the surrounding area.

The welcome is really warm. The terrace in May is top. The waitress is attentive without putting pressure on. The quality of the food is top! Well above the average of these places. The choice of beers is very wide. Great food!!! The ingredients were quality. In short, top top top!

I have found Nirvana when it come to Beer and excellent creative dishes. Think about this. A 22 page DOUBLE SIDED listing of Beers and an 11 page listing also double-sided for whiskies etc. so much beer so little time as is said. The menu selections are esquire and innovative. Most all items are prepared and made in the premise and none of what we ordered was rated below a 4 out of 5 rating Tried the appetizer of Pretzel with a beer cheese sauce ( they make their own cheese and we consumed it heartily almost fighting for the last ounce ordered the maple veal entree and was simply blown away with its taste and quality of preparation. The Korean Rib BBQ sandwich with kimchi also was devoured the Beef Stroganoff was excellent and the homemade carrot cake we ordered and extra portion. Service was quite attentive and focused. The restaurant is not your usual type and more in line with a wooden table neighborhood bar ambiance located in a almost a Haight-Ashbury like neighborhood. For the younger generation look that up in Wikipedia A guaranteed multi return restaurant while in Atlanta

Never got the hype. Tried a sour that was decent and a stout that wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t great service and the food was kind of blah. Salt and Vinegar popcorn needed something more, hangar steak didn’t have any flavor, fish and chips were also bland. I think overall I was just disappointed.

I've been here many times between 2010-2015. Great atmosphere, though the bar can crowd easily on lively nights around Little 5. It's a tight space, but there's character and quality...and bars...they get crowded. This really isn't much of a factor though since all else is excellent. Always go back for the great beer!

The bar had a great atmosphere. There was a large beer selection, staff was friendly, food was good. Definitely worth a go.

We stopped in for drinks and found that they had a large selection of craft beer. We did not get a chance to eat, however we did like the atmosphere. The bar is deceiving...be sure to walk to the back. The seating opens up and the place is bigger than you expect.

PROS: great drinking menu- huge, including cider options. Cozy and interesting atmosphere. Food menu was fun and had vegetarian options. CONS: the booth wasn't cleaned properly, leaving a large smear of BBQ sauce on my friend's pants as she slid in. Really not cool. In general, this place reminded me of a London pub, from the food and drink menus to the decor- but not in the way like it was trying to be that. This place has it's own personality and charm. I'd definitely go back- just now I always check the seats before I sit down.

My favorite bar in atlanta's L5P. Quite the beer selection and they even have cold pressed coffee on tap. And it was delicious! Really good atmosphere and the bartenders are nice and helpful. Will definitely visit again.

On the recommendations of some friends, we went here for lunch. They had a very wide variety of beers but the food was wonderful. Best Mac and Cheese Ever!! Service was very friendly to. We will be back!

Absolutely love this place. The beer, the vibe, the cozyness and the cool and super nice servers. We have gone there numerous times for a beer and a bite, taken friends from out of town, and it has always been a great experience. A superb selection of beers and appetizers is sure to please anyone, and of course, the neighborhood has many other things to do. Worth the trip for sure.

Wife and adult son had supper- traveling through Atlanta. This is a small local fare with plenty of good beer and a wonderfully prepared menu. Shrimp and Grits are a specialty, The Fish and Chips were fine. Service was perfect and the atmosphere warm and friendly. If you're near little 5 points give it a try. Ask any Atlanta native or cabbie where little 5 is . They will all know. Billooltewah

We were ignored completely for the first pass by the bartender. Then when he decided to acknowledge us he was snide. They didn't have any of the beers we wanted. We left. Large listed selection, but how many of them do they actually have? Not impressed.

4 of us were going to a concert at the Variety Playhouse and decided to meet at the Porter for dinner & drinks. The 2 stars are for the drinks! 2 of us ordered the hamburger advertised at a half pound (NOT!). I ordered mine mid-rare and the other was medium. Both arrived cooked to death. We showed our waitress and she offered to have them re-fired, but we couldn't wait due to the concert. 3 of us had French fries that were barely above room temperature. To be sure management comped the 2 burgers. BTW, the beer/cider selection is first rate!

The pickled red onions are almost like bragging when added to this wonderful burger! The fries and beer are pretty great as well!

LOVED this eclectic bar full of interesting items displayed in artsy ways. Incredible beer menu.delicious food.( goat cheese appetizer- yummy!!) Cool waitress. We searched it out after reading it was a speakeasy (but just to clarify, it is not.) still super cool. Don't miss the large room tucked away in the all. Cozy place to stay for hours and chill with friends!

The beer selection CANNOT be beat. The food (fish and chips) was good. The salt and vinegar popcorn appetizer was exceptional. The interior of the restaurant is unique in it”oldness” and decor. Is in theLittle Five Points district and is conveniently close to the Carter Presidental Library and Museum. An interesting and unusual dining experience.

We love this spot and visit whenever we are in Atlanta. The whole neighborhood is great. Porter has so many different beer selections that they please everyone.

We live near here and have enjoyed going there a lot. It's a bit small on the inside, but has a great scene. They have a great selection of delicious beers and awesome food. Great service as well!

excellent, funky, old school bar with FOODIE ALERT - great menu items. we have the lamb ravioli, the cheeseburger and the home made sausages.....outstanding beer menu - draught, bottle and aged beers. full bar as well.

Stopped here with several parents and kids after a nearby soccer match. First of all, our service was excellent. Second, the food was amazing. Pretzels and popcorn are great unique appetizers, followed up with the burger. The Mac and cheese also received rave reviews from the group, not to mention the Porn Dog. Highly recommend this place.

Stopped in for a light meal before a concert at Variety Playhouse. We got the crab rolls with seasoned fries. Both were outstanding and super tasty. The beer selections were also very extensive. Great place to eat and have a drink.

We walked in for a drink before having lunch nearby. I have to say that their menu looked pretty good so even though we didn't eat there, don't discount their food menu. Onto what you're really here for. The beer menu is the most extensive I have ever seen; something like 20 pages front and back (give or take a few). The only beer type I noticed missing was some type of shandy but I'm partial to them while others tend to dislike them so I get it. I ordered a dunkleweisen and proceeded to enjoy it in what feels like the back room of an old storehouse. Prices seemed pretty reasonable given the area. Definitely the place to check out if you're in the mood for beer.

Went at 6:30 on a Friday night. Was absolutely packed. Sat at the bar while waiting for a table. Great beer selection. Serve several beers a night from the sankey cask for extra flavor. The whole place is long and narrow with cool atmosphere. Sit very close to your neighbors so got to see (and smell - which was great) what some dishes were before ordering. Asked people at the next table what they got - Korean short rib sandwich and pull apart pretzel which they raved about. We ordered the short rib sandwich which came with garlic fries. Phenomenal. Great beer selection, but you pay for it - avg $8 for a beer. Worth it if you get the right one. Plan to go back and try the Dog, Mac & cheese and fish & chips we were too full to try this time

This was a great bar, with a wide range of drinks to choose from. The vibe was good, good music and the bartenders were very knowledgeable. I highly recommend the Belgian Fries...

In the dead center of hippy-ville, I don't recommend visiting here alone. Regardless of the neighborhood, the food was pretty good and decently priced (average plate $10-11). The alcohol selection is incredible (thus the name, Beer Bar). The service wasn't exceptional - that was probably the main aspect that disappointed me. With $11 plates & $7/glass beer, you would think the servers would be more attentive. Overall, good restaurant with unique, rustic atmosphere.

My husband and I stopped in here after having a late lunch in the area. The space is long and narrow with a lot of seats at their bar. We didn't go farther back, but the bar area was very cool. The bartender greeted us quickly and set down their beer menu (it's quite extensive). After taking some time to review we ordered a couple drinks. Everything was great. The area around it wasn't the greatest, but we were there during the day. Not sure how it is at night.

I am from Boston and was in Atlanta for my bachelor party. Naturally we had to check out the craft beer scene. This place was great. The happy ending was by far the best beer there.

I had read about this place and for some reason was expecting an upscale neighborhood. It's actually located in a rather Bohemian area surrounded by tattoo parlors and head shops. I went at lunch time on a Monday and had no problem finding street parking. The bar itself is understated, long and narrow with a bar on the right and several tables. I sat at the bar and was promptly handed a beer list and menu. The bartender was helpful and let me try a couple of samples when I couldn't decide what to drink. I had a burger and fries which were excellent, but this place is all about the beer. If I lived near here I wouldn't have a liver left. The draft selection alone is amazing, but the bottle list goes on and on with abundant great choices. if you are into craft beer you must go here. I don't give a lot of five star reviews but the Porter Beer Bar is truly deserving.

A comfortable pub-style environment that's larger inside than it looks from outside, for sure. Choose bar seating, tables, or a booth and enjoy a selection of beers of all types. We went with a party of four on a Sunday around brunch time and it was not crowded. The food here is good, though we sampled just the appetizer menus. The beer, though is outstanding with plenty of choices from light wheat beers to high-gravity stouts. Many of the beers are on tap with another section of interesting choices in bottles. Service was very good and the servers had good suggestions for both beers and appetizers to satisfy our tastes. The decor is rustic with barrels, gnomes, and wood furnishings - a casual, complete beer- or pub-seeker's experience. Very highly recommended for a drink, lunch, or a few beers with some friends.

This bar/restaurant is really neat. It has a unique hipster vibe to it, and the beer they have here is just great. They have an immense selection to choose from. All we had food-wise were the Belgian fries, which were amazing. If you want to have some cool, unique beer that you probably couldn't get anywhere else in a chill, clean establishment, you should definitely pay Porter's a visit.

Just simply an amazing beer list. I think it was 40-ish pages of some very off the wall brews. We sampled quite a bit and just chilled out and enjoyed the cool Little Five Points vibe. A must stop for any beer geeks in the area!

This is my go-to bar not only for the best beer selection in Atlanta, but also my "bring out of towners here to show off what Atlanta has to offer in terms of beer". The beer is well-known and tested. If you cannot find something on the draft menu go to the bottle selection. If you cannot find something there then go to the vintage bottle selection. If you cannot find something on that list than you are a wine drinker and just leave. Ask if there is a party going on in the cellar and if they isnt, ask if you can see what it looks like. That place is the coolest place in Atlanta when it comes to craft beer. Shelves of the best beers categorized by type and country-origin. The table will instantly grab your eye as it is two big cuts of a tree. (Yes you can rent it out for a awesome price too). The food fare will shock you. I remember I ordered the reuben, because I love reubens, and when I took the first bite I immediately thought, "this is bar food? Where am I again?. The food is very good. The goat cheese fritters get a lot of write-ups and they never disappoint. This place can get very crowded though, parking can be a nightmare, and there are always weirdos and homeless begging for anything outside of the establishment. Just put up with those things because the Porter is a must visit. Get a table in the back if the long, narrow bar isnt to your liking... personally I love the vibe and watching all the matching glassware meeting up with the perfect beers. I will be giving lots of my future business to the Porter!!!

I often visit Atlanta on business and like to find a new, cool, and eclectic places while here! The Porter is just that. Go there. This feels like the kind of place you might go right after you find out you're actually a magic user and your parents were killed by a powerful dark wizard. Then before you get taken to your school of magic your giant friend brings you here. The ambience is incredible, the food is delectable, and the location is full of rare creatures. We loved everything we ordered. The menu is very diverse but someone from every background we can find something that fits their pallet. The drink selection was also good. Some of our favorites were the pull apart pretzel (soft warm delicious), the Shriracha chicken wings (not too spicy & very tasty) , and the porndog (indescribable). I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are around Little five points, or want to take a short Uber ride out of downtown Atlanta to hit a great spot.

Great atmosphere and quirky decoration. Beer selection is amazing - so much to go for and the staff all very knowledgeable. Food not so good - just a bit too rich for my liking. Went home with a bit of indigestion.

Wow. This place is one of the cooler place I have been to hang out with friends while traveling. The staff is super friendly and the list I beers and drinks is insane. It is an experience to go there to eat and get some quality craft beers. The vinegar pop corn are amazing too

Seriously...you visit a bar called 'Porter' and you review the food. One of the best bars in the US. Big call, yes - but if you like your beer then this place delivers. After Norwegian Porter...they've got it. Sit back and try the seemingly endless options. Teach you liver a lesson. And the food was pretty good.

This place has all kinds of beers. The food is pretty good too. If you are in Little 5 Points check this place out for a beer or two. It has one of the best varieties in Atlanta.

Always a great gem with valued based fun food that always exceeds greatestness. Friendly staff. has the largest beer selection by far in Atlanta.

Our favorite quick getaway is Little 5 Points in Atl.....and The Porter has always been one of our favorite hangouts and traditions when we go. It is a great little tavern/bar, with amazing import and craft beers. It's a must if you like to hangout for a few drinks! There used to be a little bench outside that was perfect to sit at and watch people stroll by, but they've taken that out for some reason.....wish so bad they'd put it back out there. They also have delicious appetizers as well. This place is so cute and special.

Incredible fresh & local food that is prepared perfectly with stellar service. If that's not enough, the beer list is probably a dozen pages. The Porter never disappoints!

Little five points is great for people watching. Porter has a great beer selection and better than average bar food. Parking is limited in that area. The bar its self is very narrow and smokey but a good has a local vibe.

The Porter Beer Bar turned out to be an amazing place in the hipster area of Atlanta. Nice place, great selection and amazing service. I wish I have a chance to visit this great place again.

this is an awesome place to drink different brews and have some of the best bites in Atlanta! The menu changes all the time and everything is a wonderful explosion of tastes! there is no wonder this is one of the top ten restaurants in Atlanta!

The place looks to be a hang out for millennial crowd. Rustic decor, very large selection of draft beers and inventive food choices. But both food and beer is a little overpriced Burger I ordered was good but not $15.50 good. Belgian draft was just as described in the menu, except it said that it was supposed to be 16 ounces and they brought 12 ounces glass. Service was prompt and friendly. Overall, a pleasant place to visit once.

Love the local feel. Catfish fish and chips excellent. Toasted cheese soso Great beer selection Inside a little difficult to maneuver around, little dark and run down

Will be going back here! Fantastic well curated beer list, someone really knows the wide world of beers. The pretzel was so good, really buttery in great way, but what I'll get when I go back will be the salt and vinegar popcorn, could have eaten the huge portion by myself. I liked the atmosphere too, kinda divey with a ton of old charm.

Some things you may want to know: 1) In the heart of Little Five Points, an interesting and diverse neighborhood; 2) There is street parking and other parking close by; 3) The restaurant is in what used to be an alley, and the interior has a varied history, is interesting to see, and decorated in a great way; 4) a very wide selection of beers (several hundred!) and good bar food. This is not fine dining but in my view the casual atmosphere is one of its big pluses and great characteristics. We were there on a Sunday night and it was pretty full with interesting, varied, customers. The beer list is enormous -- one of the biggest I have ever seen. The Reuben with herb fries was great. The shrimp and grits with cheese and containing an interesting mushroom was delicious. There is much talk about the safety of this area. There are families with kids, couples strolling, and many people around. Just use common sense and all is well. It is a very interesting area. In fact, the World Wall for Peace is across the street on the side of the "Rag-o-Rama" building. It contains 5000 tiles completed for the 1996 Olympics. Check it out. The dinner, with beer, and no dessert was $39 with tip for two. We would go back for sure. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

This is one of the best Craft Beer Bars I have visited. The Porter Beer Bar has a large selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles including vintage options. The beer menu list looked like a short story. The tap options include local favorites and rare treats. This place also has enticing food options but I only got the opportunity to try The Porter’s Signature Hush Puppies. The hush puppies were pretty good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The side of Fuji Apple Sauce was a nice touch.

We decided to visit Little Five Points during a weekend getaway. I used to frequent this area when I was in college and I wanted to revisit the area and see what's changed. I found The Porter Beer Bar online and knew we had to visit. We went on a Saturday night around 8:30pm and I worried it would be busy. The place was packed, but it was only a short wait to be seated for a party of two. The interior of this place is amazing. I could not believe that the restaurant kept going back and back. The beer list is very extensive! My husband was amazed that they had vintage beers you could purchase. It's something we have never seen before. The food was delicious! We were impressed by the fries and the goat cheese fritters! The restaurant is loud, but we didn't mind. The experience is definitely worth the noise. The service was great and I really liked how the servers said "cheers!" Eevery time they brought you a beer. I would highly recommend this place to any beer lover out there. You will not be disappointed!

Goat cheese fritters and great beer. Need I say more? Crowded, but full of atmosphere. Yummy food, terrific beer selections. A bit chilly. We had the table by the cooler, but the food took that discomfort away.

Having a wander around little five points stopped off at this cozy bar for a cold beer on a particularly hot day. The choice of ales is bewildering but ended up going for an ale from a local Atlanta brewery. There is an extensive choice of lagers, ales and spirits from all over the US and the world. The bar staff are informed and friendly, which always goes a long way when traveling. This a great bar in an interesting little area, would recommend and return.

Been here many times. I love this place! Food is amazing. I miss the ghocci and scargo they used to make a few years back...

First time at The Porter Beer Bar was November 2018. Their staff was exceptionally nice and the old fashioned was made perfectly. Will definitely be going back. LOVE the environment and style of this place.

We just happened upon this place walking around Little Five Points and I so glad we did. We had just finished our meal so I can't vouch for the food but OH MY WORD.... the beer selection! It left me speechless. I opted for a cider the first round but the second I wanted something different. The menu can be a little daunting to say the least so I allowed my bartender to make the choice. We settled in with a price point and what I didn't like (not an IPA fan) and the selection he made was heavenly... Duchesse de Bourgogne. It was reminiscent of a Lambic with just enough of tart and sourness to not overpower. Thank you for the recommendation (wish I could remember your name) and the bit of snarkiness to make me come back on my next visit to Atlanta.

probably my favorite place in the city to grab a beer and the food is just incredible!! It is either here or Brick Store for me. I think the Porter has more options in the food department and equally as respectable beer. Both are gems!

Very poor food ! No tasty ! Service friendly but don't wait for professional waiter ! Welcome entrance like a night club ! Very dark place ! Not very clean ! Toilet and surrounding the table ! Neighbors not very friendly ! I will not come back for sure and not recommending !

I was in town to help my friends move and we chose this bar. I’m so glad we did. There were so many drinks to chose from the food was delicious. We got the goat cheese balls, wings, and popcorn. I wish I wasn’t full or I would have tried more. The drink selection was also wonderful. My boyfriend tried a sour beer from Jordan that had salt from the Dead Sea. Strongly recommend trying this place out!

Love a friendly bartender who appreciates and is knowledable about craft beer! More than enough to choose from and the vintage bottle list is impossibly large. Pretzel appetizer and goat cheese sticks are both decadent - plenty for two to share!

You go in expecting to have your pick of craft/import beers, and you get that. What you may not expect is spectacular food. When I say the Fish and Chips were amazing - I wish I had more fancy adjectives to express just how amazing. Another dish(Korean Bowl) was also amazing. The only complaint was condensation literally dripping on the table from the AC vent above us. We tried to move over but it was crowded so we couldn't really do much about it. The Schlenkerla Helles is a fave of mine and it went with the food perfectly. Awesome beer. The brewery used to make a lot of smoked beers, so even though they're technically not "smoking" beers anymore, the beers still have the smokey flavor from the fermenting tanks. The beer is fruity, malty and smokey all at once and light too. A Perfect pairing for either dish my friend and I ordered. Both blown away by the FIsh and Chips. Piping hot. Perfect batter. Great, perfectly seasoned fries. The food completely made up for the so-so service and the condensation dripping so close to the food. It was THAT good. To still give a 5 rating when every 10 seconds you get dripped-on, means the food was truly exceptional.

Visiting and heard we had to go here on the way to Braves game. Great dive bar feel with a fantastic beer/booze menu. Many of my favorite beers, (which is saying something), and knowledgable staff. Food looked great, but we didn't eat. Will try it for sure next time, and there will be a next time.

This is an excellent restaurant with a fantastic beer selection! We came here 2 years ago with some friends and it was a great meal overall. We had goat cheese fritters and Belgian frites for appetizers and they were mouth-wateringly good. My wife got mussels, which were fresh and tasty and I got fish and chips, which were cooked perfectly and really hit the spot. We loved the atmosphere here and it was so very cozy. We can't wait until COVID clears so we can come back to Atlanta and come back here!

We found the Porter Beer Bar while searching for somewhere to go for a late lunch before a concert. We LOVE craft beers, and have a particular affinity for sours. This place has every type of beer you could possibly want, and a huge (over 400) selection of all types. More than that, the food is amazing. Some places you go and there's either great drinks OR great food. This place has both. I had the shrimp and grits, and it was amazing. It was creamy, perfectly seasoned, and the truffle oil was a beautiful touch. My date had the duck confit reuben which was also delicious. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and I loved the atmosphere. This place already has my heart and I'll be back as often as I can.

We went in with some friends to have a few drinks, their drink menu was on a clipboard, papers printed front to back of all the alcohol drinks they had available. Dont ask for a bud light, they dont have it but they will give you something similar

Went her for the first time during the Little 5 Points Halloween Festival. Bone marrow was amazing, beers were phenomenal, fish and chips were amazing. The service was top notch as well. Highly recommend coming here and I know I'll be back soon.

The hubs and I liked this busy establishment for its quirky character and, of course, the beer for him! We were seated quickly; our Server promptly took our orders, and the wait was reasonable. We both enjoyed the following immensely - except the fries were just okay for us (a little too much seasoning). I had the Porter’s 1/2 lb. Cheeseburger loaded with bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, homemade pickled red onions & homemade pickles, a "ton" of Belgian Fries seasoned with herb & garlic oil, charred onion mayo. My drink was a coke, as I am not a beer drinker. The Hubs had the Duck Confit Rueben loaded with sauerkraut, gruyere cheese, swiss cheese, apple, & Russian dressing on pumpernickel. He paired this with a glass of La Carnevale (??) beer. Stop in if you get a chance. It's a fun place to dine & have a beer/drink.

We went to The Porter as a group of 7 ... we were seated in the back with wooden tables and "luggage decor" throughout. Many beer choices ... the beer with mango was awesome; Food choices were average for a pub; the fish and chips were excellent ... strongly recommended

I am a big beer guy, so I found this place on my search of awesome beer bars to visit while in Atlanta. There is a parking lot about a 5 min walk away on Moreland Ave. The atmosphere was really different, yet welcoming. This place is bigger than it looks! The beer menu is enormous. Take some time to look over it or ask the waiter/waitress for a recommendation (I did this and ended up with a few great Georgia based IPAs). They also offer "cellared" beers. I didn't try any, but awesome to have that option. The food menu is very limited, but pretty good! The fries were delicious. People rave about the pretzel, but it was more of a bread than anything. Not bad, but not sure I would order it again. Burger was solid. Overall, this is a great little pub style beer bar, with a massive selection of beers and some pretty solid food to pair with it. I would 100% go back!

OMG! Are you people serious?? We left downtown Atalanta at the Biergarten to Uber here b/c it’s ranked as the #13 restaurant in Atlanta… I’m sorry, but this sucked. The staff was fantastic but seriously don’t leave downtown to get here… Sat next to a grumpy SWM who insisted on shouting obscenities while we sat next to him totally unprovoked. Food was meh… “smash burgers” are anything but… about 1/2 inch thick patties - are you kidding me??? Each patty was 1/2” thick - anything but a Smash Burger. The Fish & Chips were 3.5 / 5 at best… should be #1013 - if it were ranked that I would’ve agreed! #143 out of 2,346 is an absolute joke!!

A solid local spot with excellent food great service and very knowledgeable staff. Stopped by with my industry expert son and was again impressed with everything. We order beer and cider with a selection of small plates as was very impressed with the entire experience Keep it up The Porter

The beer selection is absolutely awesome here. A little bit of everything and even some rare stuff in a bottle. We stopped in for a round of Creature Comforts before I had a VIP signing nearby. Had the Tropi Haze and a local sour with blueberries and cinnamon and lactose. Both were ace. We browsed the menu and decided to come back for a bite after my VIP. I'm glad we did. Upon returning, we sat in the back were it was bustling at 7 on a Tuesday. We had a couple of other beers and opted for the goat cheese fritters, mac and cheese and some Belgian Garlic fries that we smelled long after we left the place. The goat cheese was to die for. Served with an herbed clover honey. Also, the mac and cheese was the best we had in Atlanta and we had three different kinds at 3 different places. The fries were good, but we decided that they smelled better than they tasted. All of this was great and the service was above par. The atmosphere was great and the decor was cute and a little rustic. Wish we had joints like this in Orlando. We'll be back!!

I had no idea how many awesome beers this place had. The burgers , loaded mac n cheese, pretzels and cheese and brownie dessert were all fantastic! Service was great! Bathrooms are extremely small. I would definitely go back here!

I went here with a group of friends because we had heard so much about their beer selection. The beer selection might be the best in Atlanta but the food matches the beer. And if that isn't enough to get you to go here, then the character of the building will put it way over the top. The location is in the smack middle of Little Five Points. If you love LFP then you love this place. If LFP isn't your thing, go to Decatur. But if you do, you will certainly miss one of the great places in the ATL. It's a bar, an adult bar. Don't bring your children, they will be bored and you will think everyone is staring at you

The beer list, especially the cellar list is a tome. Best selection I've ever seen. The food was only ok though, and the ambiance is definitely uniquely little 5 points, with lots of tattoos and dreadlocks, but everyone was very nice!

Third visit to this unassuming bar, I love real ale and this suited. First time though at night and eating. Only had starters, Belgian fries and goat cheese fritters to share, we weren't really hungry. The fritters were to die for. This place is a great hang out if you just want one beer or you want to make a night of it. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. The only downside are the toilets, there's only 2 and communal, OK for the boys but not so the girls but hey when you gotta go you go, enjoy.

The place is in a hipster type area of town that is coming around, although the surrounding neighborhood appeared only marginally safe. No issues going to the PBB, but after we came out, we took a short walk and not so sure that was the best idea. The PBB itself was great and we would return, just be more cognizant of the street. Our waiter was phenomenal - friendly, knowledgeable & attentive. We decided to order 7 appetizers for the 4 of us and share because the menu was so eclectic and interesting. Our favorite 2 items were the fish & chips (catfish) and the mac & cheese, although we also liked the pretzel & hush puppies. The most interesting item we tried which was not bad, but was our least favorite, was the beef tendon with the french onion dip. Never had it before. Very light. Just didn't have enough flavor for us at end of the day. The catfish was ridiculously good. And the beer selection is outrageous (about 50 pages) - waiter made very good recommendations on beers. Loved the overall vibe & experience.

The beer menu is extensive. If you like craft beer this is the place to be. We were told that the food was outstanding but I found it to be okay as did others in our group. Appetizers were good though. Certainly busy at 7 on a Saturday evening and we had to wait a bit due to our group of 7. Good atmosphere and vibe in the bar.

Porter has the largest beer selection I've seen in a long time! But, the biggest surprise, is that the food is quite good as well. Had a very nicely cooked Hamburger - perfect in every way. The fries were great and the price was reasonable. We also had the Mac & Cheese and Pork Fried Rice special - quite delightful... (The Pork was actually Bacon, which was a little weird, but good!) What a great destination - especially if you're going to a concert nearby. The food and beers are always great, so you can be guaranteed a nice evening!

Sat at the first table past the bar. Since there wasn’t a rush the bar maid said she would serve us as they have no table service in back of the restaurant, it’s order at the bar and wait there for it to come out and take it to your table. Strange times. Wonder what happens when it gets crowded. Both my wife and I liked the fish and chips. No red sauce, HP or A-1. I thought the crispy batter was a little over done. English fish and chips coating comes out more golden. We don’t drink so can’t comment on the beer selections. We’ll probably be back despot having to drive around the block a few times.

I'm an avid diner in the metro Atlanta area. Since I let my son (mid30's) choose the place for a guys night out this wasn't on my radar. First impression was this was a dive. But I'm glad my son suggested this place. Excellent choices of beers and the food was great. The catfish fish and chips were wonderful.

If you love craft beer, you have to check this place out. Good food too. For as busy as it was, along with the number in our group (11), I feel like the service was top notch. Wish I lived in Atlanta so I could visit this place more frequently.

Food and service excellent for the number of people there on a Saturday evening. Very, very friendly staff and great atmosphere if you like loud happy people. Finally, they have a great variety of local and imported beers.

This out of the way gem is a must for those who want the microbrew and great food experience! We are from Asheville, NC and this place felt like home! We enjoyed the hush puppies, the falafel, and a burger with our delicious beers! We will be back when we next find ourselves in the ATL!!!

This place was everything I was looking for and more - great menu, amazing beer, nice wait staff, awesome vibe. The neighborhood is only slightly sketchy - a lot of panhandlers/homeless folks, but they weren't an issue. Only complaint was that it was a cab ride to and from the convention area. I raved about the fact that they had Straffe Hendrik on tap (which is amazing Belgian beer, if the reader has not tried it). Really top notch.

Was in town for a conference and was tired of the same old steak house dinner. Reserved the beer cellar for my dinner and it was great. Everyone friendly, food great and beer selection out of this world. I am a bourbon guy and their bourbon selection was first class as well.

The beer menu is insane but you have to watch the prices as some of them hit double digits quick for a single beer. Popcorn was great and the brisket was insanely good. Service was great and plenty of parking down the street.

Great beer selection and great food. Simple and unique. Hipster and bohemian vibes collide. Cool place!

Practically any kind of beer you could imagine, and the food is tasty and imaginative. Definitely try the garlic fries.... My mouth is watering just thinking about hem!

The Porter is one of Atlanta's best bars. The selection of both draft and bottled beer is outstanding. The food is gourmet bar food. If you like beer is the a good as it gets.

The place did feel like a German Inn, nice dark beers awesome pretzels. We both had the beef stew and were surprised in that the title did say spicy. However, it was way too much for our taste (but that was our fault) it was very good but too spicy for our tastes. We enjoyed our time there and would go again. Had the apple dessert and that was excellent

They've got quite an expansive beer selection and they do a great job pairing it with their menu...which I must say is much better than standard pub fare. If you want a good dish paired with good beer, check it out.

My husband and I first tried The Porter Beer Bar a few years ago and we have a most remarkable meal and we were hoping to duplicate that at our most recent visit. Our bartender was friendly, attentive and informative in helping us pick out our beers. The beer list is off the chain….a true beer lovers’ destination. It was fun reading the list …..the descriptions for some are the beers are very creative and humorous! We started off with the signature Hush Puppies. They were piping hot and crispy but minimal bacon flavor…..rather bland overall. Not really impressed…no wow factor. The apple sauce did help make it enjoyable though. We ordered one of the daily specials, Thai chicken tacos along with the duck confit Rueben (which I read many rave reviews about). The duck was tender, juicy and flavorful…..but the bread was toasted a bit too much….was too dry and broke apart after just a few bites. The tacos were good…. I don’t eat Thai much so I can’t really comment at length. The décor is quirky and inviting. We will be back….just will try something different on the menu.

Being from a great beer city, I tend to have some expectations for a beer bar. Well, this place beat some of the best haunts at home! Some might describe it as being a little hipster, to me however, it just seemed like a perfect beer bar. The draught selections was amazing! Had the Belgian fries as well which were among the best I have ever had. They did a nice job soaking up the Lil B and Sweetwater Bourbon Imperial Stout. Noticed that the place had a Beard award nomination for food. I heard from lots of satisfied diners around me. Top notch...actually makes me want to go back to Atlanta!

Such a cool hole in the wall joint! My husband and I always come here for the burgers, huge, juicy and delicious. Their beer pairings are fantastic! Come here and enjoy the experience!

We drank Lagunitas beers the entire time. They had some amazing hard-to-find beers. Try to book a hotel nearby or take a cab. If you like beer, this is the best bar in Atlanta. Their food menu is great and they pull-in local produce for a delicious, fresh taste. Try the Heirloom tomatoes with the compressed watermelon and burrata cheese. Excellent service!

Duck confit Banh Mi was amazing. Very fresh ingredients. Great service as well. Can't wait to go back and have another dish!

Had a great meal here, 'best fish & chips ever' said one of the English members of our party Amazing selection of beer, delicious sandwiches and superb service ... what's not to love!

Had the ribs and side arugula salad, was very good. My buddy got the porn dog and we both agreed it was one of the best things we ever ate. The beer selection is rivaled by none except maybe Kickback's in Jacksonville but I preferred the porter bar. If you are a craft fan, it is an must visit.

A solid and unique menu. We just had appetizers and drinks, but the fried pickles and pimento cheese was awesome!!! It was obvious the pickles were homemade. The server was great as well and knew his beer!

The beer selection here is amazing. Honestly was a little overwhelmed by the amount of beers available. Thankfully, my server Newman was very knowledgeable and could help me figure out what to drink. I had a couple of his suggestions, both of which were delicious. Goat cheese fritters and burger were delicious, the kitchen can actually cook a burger medium, which seems to be rare. Look forward to being back next time I’m in Atlanta!

we were told that this was the place for beers from everywhere but the food is also exceptional. very unique inside, looks like an alley was converted to a restaurant. just a plain neat place!

We had 3 different appetizers and they were all outstanding. Great selection of beer ,and very knowledgeable staff, helpful. The people next to us on both sides of the bar had full meals, and all the food look like it was really prepared well. And everyone cleaned their plates. I know they also had another room in the back but we didn't go there.

Atmosphere, check Beer, check Beer in whiskey barrels, check Excellent bar food, big check I'll definitely return

6 friends stopped in here for a sample of their huge beer variety. As the DD I had their Lemonade (vodka free)-BEST I've ever had. Ambience is pure fun, laid back and loud. Great place to meet up with a group for a fun evening.

So many different types of beer to choose from, draught and bottles. The decor inside is really cool like an old school beer hall. The servers were great, very attentive, even with it being packed inside. The food is inventive and very flavoursome.

We were visiting the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library/Museum and were looking for a place to eat close by on a Sunday afternoon. We had found this place in Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. Boy, were we glad that we did. It does not look like much from the front or alley behind, and it is funky inside. But, the craft beer list is amazing and the Sunday menu was extensive but not pricey. It was great food, good service, and a pleasant experience. We are considerably older than the rest of the diners, but no matter, we loved the place and would highly recommend it.

I met up with some old college friends when I was in town last week and was really impressed with this place. Great service that was very helpful walking through the enormous drink menu. Incredible food: we simply shared four appetizers and was blown away by the taste of it all. Salt & vinegar popcorn, goat cheese fritters, hush puppies and mac & cheese (least favorite). Unique atmosphere with great energy and well worth a visit in Atlanta!

The beer selection here is outstanding. The servers are so knowledgeable and can answer any questions you might have about styles, taste or pairings. The food is great also.

This place has an incredible beer menu. It truly does go on for about 3 pages of 10-point type. The food that we had was good, but the beer is definitely the star here.

This was the first place I visited when moving to Candler Park and it's still my favorite. Their specials are very unique and aren't often repeated. Their beer menu is impressive. And their vibe and decor is unique, even within Little Five Points, which is really saying something. I make sure to bring friends here from out of town.

Went there for lunch and we sat at the bar. They have a huge variety of beers, the bartender was very informative. I had the mussels which were great, others had various sandwiches and loved them. Don't forget the delicious popcorn!

This place reminds you of a German Pub - dark with booths and tables and a lot of brickwork. The beer-list was like 6-8 pages on a clipboard hanging on your table. Tons of draught ,tons of bottles. The fish and chips were huge - the Breakfast biscuit was amazing. The wait staff is attentive and eclectic. Its bigger inside than what it appears from the street. Its narrow and L-Shaped in the back with quite a few seats. We got seated immediately on a Saturday Lunch. I'd go back!

This bar has an INCREDIBLE beer/mead/booze selection along with insanely good food and fantastic service. Seems a little hipster from outside, but I even saw families inside eating. It's much bigger than it looks. I go here every time work sends me to Atlanta.

I loved this place. The specials were really creative with an Asian fusion flare. I was surprised to get such good food at a bar. The regular food menu is nothing special. The tap list was excellent. So ggod I had to go back!.

The beer list is second to none. It is a great place to get a beer and get something like a burger. The duck confit reuben sounded great but the execution left something to be desired. The duck was really tasty but the sandwich was greasy and they put on an apple that made it too sweet with the sauerkraut, which is also a bit sweet. The Belgian fries were fantastic. My wife had the smoked pork Korean bowl...basically Porter's version of bim bim bap. There was little kimchi in the bowl and very few vegetables, which were pickled and way too sweet. The eggs were overcooked as well. If you like bim bim bap, you'll be disappointed. The ambience is great...bit of a dive-like bar, the service is always good, the bar is fantastic, the surrounding area it is pretty cool. Just don't expect really good or great food.

We were looking for a place to grab a beer and a bite before heading to the Variety Playhouse; our daughter recommended The Porter. Every single thing was awesome from the pleasant hostess who sat us to our attentive waiter to the great food. The beer variety was extensive!! We had a couple of appetizers to start with our beer and later ordered Fish and Chips; all of our food was great. All of our beer was great! Server was very attentive and happily suggested beer that he thought we might like. Loved this place and would highly recommend!

We really enjoy this place in little five points. They have an outrageous selection of beer, it’s absolutely fantastic at the amount of choices. And the food... omg the food is always delicious! The staff has always been very polite as well. If you can get a seat at the bar it makes for a near perfect outing!

Wow! Where do I begin. My husband and I went here last night with friends and had a fabulous time! The beer menu is amazing and the food is great! The beer menu is 23 pages (front and back) and is filled with exceptional beer. We were only in Atlanta for the night and were so happy that we found this place! We will definitely return!

The title is a fact, not hype. Having read many of the reviews on other sites, including rate beer and Esquire, I have always wanted to visit the Porter. With over 300 craft beers available, what could go wrong? The answer is nothing, except that I spent just about every evening here while in Atlanta for a work related convention. I tried so many beers that I would have been impossible back home. My only other recommendation, besides come here, is go slow and plan out your tastings by type of beer or by country, or both. That's how awesome this place is. I discovered a Scottish brew from The Brew Dogs called the Punk IPA, which now I am unable to find here. As if the beer was not enough, they also have a great variety and tasty selections of food that really can not be classified as "bar food" because this food is several rungs up that particular ladder. An interesting side note. The Porter is located in the Little Five Points area of Atlanta, so if you like the Bohemian vibe or just enjoy a little "people watching" this can be an added bonus.

I thought I left a review of this. Whatever. Great place, Highly recommended. IN-credible choice in beers-- drafts, bootles, cans and vintage. Go when you;re not in a rush. I went for an hour and stayed for three.

This little spot is kinda obscure but what a find. The front has a bar and a long hall leads to a cool restaurant in the rear which serves up some really delicious eats. They change specials and everything on the menu is good!

Went in the porter beer bar for a drink at the start of our holiday and the locals recommended eating here so we returned when we got back to atlanta, i had the duck confit Reuben with Belgian fries (which were amazing) washed down with a couple of the craft ales / ciders we weren't dissapointed and would definitely recommend eating here.

What a surprise! The beer selection is second to none. The food is wonderful. The mussels were the best i ever had. I was especially impressed with how many you receive for the price. The coconut sauce was spectacular. We also had the goat cheese fritters and shrimp poorboy. Looking forward to the next visit.

As good a craft beer bar as exists anywhere in this part of the country, Porter somehow manages to take itself seriously without seeming to. Not only a superior beer selection, but superior staff to help you choose wisely. And the food is on par with the beer selection. Make sure and check out the beer cellar, available for private gigs and general gawking. You'll be glad you did.

I was a tourist not familiar with the area, so when my GPS breezed me right past this little hole in the wall with packed or permit-only street parking, I almost gave up (I also had an ankle injury at the time of my visit, so being fairly close was more important to me). I pulled over - several blocks away - to see if the website gave tips on parking and saw again the phenomenal statistic that they have something like 400 beers - nope, had to try it, and it was worth navigating the cramped and unfamiliar neighborhood until I lucked into a meter. I ordered two dishes, both specials, rapini (seasonal veg) and something billed as a pull-apart pretzel which was simply the most delicious piece of food I put in my mouth all weekend. Maybe even all year. It was a buttery, salty, little monkey bread brioche with a cheese dipping sauce, and it was too die for. If it's on offer, you must try it. The rapini was also enjoyable. I wish they would offer smaller pours or flights of the beers on tap (although since I didn't see that anywhere in town, I'm beginning to wonder if there are legal reasons they can't? It seems that there are some arcane beer laws as I got the hang of the "tour" system at the local breweries). And it would be nice for an out-of-towner like me if they highlighted the local and regional beers separately, just to make it easier. I ended up with three full-size beers but would have loved to be able to taste more. I arrived about 7 PM and the place was packed, 20-30 minute wait and there wasn't even room at the bar. By 8, it had opened up considerably. I was there on a Saturday night so I would say there might be a sweet spot between dinner crowd and drinking party crowd in there.

This is an old alley way made into a bar. Very narrow and cool inside. Best beer selection we’ve seen so far. Pages of adult beverage choices. But honestly, the old and eery feeling of this place was so cool. You smell garlic, as they also have a robust good menu. Very cool place:.

An owner with great taste in beer and a knowledgeable staff make for a perfect destination bike ride in Atlanta. The food isn't half bad.

Delicious selection of beers. Wide variety. The food menu looked delicious. We only ordered a couple of apps: salt and vinegar popcorn (awesome) and pull apart pretzel bread with cheese (yes it was amazing). Cool atmosphere too. Hip area of Atlanta.

An impressively creative menu and a great beer list. Nothing I had really worked for me, didn't like the excess of herbs on the fries, didn't like the signature "slutty" sauce, and didn't like the pork on the burger. That being said, they are putting out creative and good ideas so for someone else this could be the best spot on earth. Not the spot for me, but I would say absolutely still worth a try if you're in ATL.

This place is amazing. Best Mac &a cheese I've ever had in my life. The service was phenomenal and there are SO many options to chose from for drinks. We had the fish & chips, and flank steak as well which were great! Atmosphere is a plus as well. Can't wait to come back =)

We stopped by for a beer so we cannot comment on the food quality. It was 6 o'clock ish on a Friday night and we got the last two seats in the place. The beer selection is phenomenal, the service speedy and attentive, and the ambiance funky cool. If I lived in Atlanta, this would be a regular place for me. The neighborhood is gritty and real. No pretentious crap around here. This appears to be somewhere locals frequent.

We went to Porter Beer Bar after trying to get into another place that was packed. It had been recommended by the staff at another place we tried earlier. They do have tons of beer choices, but as far as tap beers, there really wasn't a lot of variety. They were focusing on Christmas and Hanukkah beers and there wasn't much else. I ended up getting a canned beer that was good. My husband did find an IPA on tap and said it was fine. I didn't feel like there was a lot of variety on the menu either, but maybe I just wasn't in the mood for what they offered. My husband got the Pork Kimchi Reuben and did enjoy it. I liked the fries a lot. Since I said I would just be trying his food, they divided it onto two plates and I'm pretty sure we got way more fries that way than if it had just been served on one plate. That was a nice touch. The server was helpful but because it was so busy I think he was a little distracted. Porter Beer Bar is definitely worth trying.

I was amazed at the extensive beer menu and selection! This is the place for beer lovers. Appetizers and food menu were better than i expected at a beer bar- try the Mac and Cheese.

I have visited this place many times, and always left happy. They have an amazing selection of beer, and their food is quite good, too. Try the goat cheese fritters - heck, try anything on the menu that catches your eye. Come by yourself or bring some friends. Interior is cozy, so not great for a large crowd, but perfect for an intimate gathering.

My title is a huge "duh" statement to anybody around Atlanta or the Southeast, but for everyone else not in the know, THIS is where you go if you want to find any and every good beer available. The food is good too, although I've never had a full meal off of the menu (just bar snacks). The atmosphere is very lively, so if you don't like loud spaces, stay away. This place suits me just fine.

Great lunch. Had the Beef Stroganoff. My grand kids loved the kids meals and burgers. Right in little five points. Quaint with interesting old suitcases and collectables on the wall.

Everything here was great. Not fancy dining, but really great food and a great beer selection. I would highly recommend this place.

The beer selection is outstanding, both draught and bottle. Food is very good and the wait staff is knowledgeable and is helpful to pair the proper beer with your food selection...very friendly and accommodating. I would ignore the last review about the location. The pub is situated in a hip location. Unless your old, senile or half dead, go elsewhere. When I visit Atlanta, this is my must visit place.

Fun, laid back and tons of beer. A small menu makes ordering simple. This is my choice, avocado toast, they sold out of the avocado BLT. Tasty but not quite enough to fill me up. Luckily my husband couldn't eat all his onion burger!! We all had a different beer. Delicious.

This place is a beer lover’s heaven. There are literally, I’m not exaggerating, hundreds of options. Even if you aren’t a beer enthusiast, you will find a beer here that you like. The atmosphere is awesome—it’s such a hidden gem. From the outside, you’d never know it’s such a cool place. At night, it’s very dark, intimate, and seems to be lit by candlelight (although it’s not). You feel like you’re in a 18th century watering hole! The food is also incredible. Nothing I’ve ordered was bad! Great for a night out in Little Five Points. Also, the Sunday brunch is awesome! Great food and mimosas. Service is always impeccable!

I was recommended this place by an ex-employee, and he spoke highly of it, which I found interesting. I made a visit and holy smokes was I overwhelmed! Great beer selection on tap, single malt scotches on the shelf, and bottles of stouts aging in the cellar. Friendly and knowledgable staff. While I cannot vouch on the food menu, it certainly looked good. Easily the best place to drink in Atlanta. No contest.

Others try to imitate this solid taproom's charm, simplicity and quality. The enormity of brew options can easily be parsed by the extremely knowledgeable and pleasant barkeeps. Excellent craft cocktails, sans-gimmicks. Awesome bar food and adventurous dining fare, something for the timid to the daring. Tongue on toast: perfection. Duck liver mousse done classically? Voila. 1/2 pound burger? SLURP. Belgian frites? Real. In a city where duplicitous mediocrity is celebrated by throngs of zombie-like yuppies in skinny jeans, this is a respite from the norm. Blissfully insulated from the devastation that's befallen what was Inman Park and the Edgewood, Little Five still has just enough grit to keep it from being totally overrun by condo-dwelling eaters of Chic-fil-A and Corporate Facsimilies.

I don't know about the food, but the beer selection they have is the biggest I ever saw. A lot local beers of the tap. They also have a decent Whiskey selection.

This is a must stop whenever we are in town. They have a friendly bar up front and plenty of seating in the back. The service is fantastic, with very helpful servers. The bar has a wide selection of beers and other beverages, and a delicious food menu with which to pair. The location is fantastic. It’s in walking distance if you are going to a show at the Variety Playhouse and a perfect spot to go before a concert.

I come to this bar ever time I go to Atlanta without fail. This has quickly become my favorite bar in the country and has yet to disappoint me. The bartenders are easy to talk to and very friendly. On top of this, the food has never failed to satisfy and the atmosphere is always lively. Great place to bring a date and great place to spend time with friends.

Our group selected this restaurant to get snacks and drinks. Parking was difficult so we had to ride a round to find a spot and found one several blocks away. Once inside we discovered a rustic, well decorated large German style restaurant. The beer selection was large and snacks were available along with an ample food selection. We had the pretzel loaf and hamburger and enjoyed it. The staff was friendly
Not Just Beer!
The Porter, like so much of the rest of Little Five Points, has so much more to offer once you go further into it. First, the bar's entrance from the street makes it seem like just a bar. The first time visitor could be forgiven for thinking that's all there is and then leaving if he or she really wanted some food. But the attentive bartender's repeated assurances that there were free tables in the back, combined with our pushing forward down a dimly lit hall and up some stairs, revealed there were tables and booths in the back - and we were so glad we did. First, how to tell what they have. Beer is clearly the Porter's raison de etre and visitors will find a multi-sheet list of beer offerings, both on tap and in bottles, on clipboards hanging from hooks on their tables. Beer aficionados can pore over these like holy writ, but other visitors will find the server's advice invaluable, once your table can snag one. But while I would never knowingly slight the many types of beer, the food must not be missed. For lunch, my companion and I had some delicious fries with a zesty aioli, mussels steamed in a delicious broth, which was unlike anything I had eaten mussels with before and a chestnut and truffle soup, so smooth and thick I felt like I had been transported back to a chateau lunch from an earlier age when I ate it. Even the toasted baguette that arrived to help soak up the mussel broth was well nigh perfect, a light and very crispy crust and a soft and billowing interior ready to delivery delicious mussel broth to the diner. Altogether, an extraordinary lunch experience for around $35 with one of us having one of their (wonderful) draught beers. My companion had iced tea. I must caution, however, that while I am confident a visitor can eat at The Porter without shooting huge holes in the budget, a true beer enthusiast may find it very tempting to spend a fair amount there. A number of their bottled beers ranged quite high in price.
