Querky and atmospheric

By Nicholas W |

Love this place. Having seen it on Mad Men i just had to visit. Don't be fooled that it is closed but push open the red door and take a step back in time. We visited before 8 so happy hour was still on which made the pitcher of beer very reasonable. The whole fried chicken was excellent and just what was needed after a day of sight seeing.

Chicken & Beer

The restaurant atmosphere immediately stands out as you walk inside. Mad Men and New Girls have both filmed at this location. The walls are covered in a dark (purple) velvet material, red booths, and dimmed lighting complete the overall seating area. The spicy chicken hot wings: spicy and tangy flavors, yet not too hot. The chicken is perfectly paired with the rice cakes. If you like spicy food then this is a must try and goes great with a glass of beer. They're known for roasting a whole chicken and splitting it down the middle. Although, if you're in a group it seemed like it was easier to split the wings. In the back of the restaurant, they have bathrooms available for guests, and seating areas that can accommodate large groups. Metered street parking is the most convenient. Casual vibe and located two blocks from the main street of Wilshire Blvd.

A cool Place

I came to the Prince for Korean Fried Chicken. I came with my Korean Friend. She had never been and thought it was strange because it looked like a English Pub that was very Red inside. We shared the chicken and it was really good. I love places like this. It has a cool atmosphere, its cheap, and the food is good. They have Valet parking when you drive up.

Old school

This establishment should be familiar to anyone who's seen Chinatown, Mad Men, Thank You for Smoking, The Woman in Red and any number of other TV shows or feature films with scenes shot here. I found the highly touted Korean fried chicken tasty and the drinks stiff. So are the prices, but you're paying for atmosphere rather like the old New York taverns of my youth. Prime yourself before you arrive and it won't seem as crowded and compulsory as it probably is.

atmosphere

We enjoyed The Prince. The atmosphere is amazing. I was distracted throughout the meal looking at all the stuff (decorations). Food was good and reasonably priced. There is a bell at the table which you ring to call the waiter. If you don't ring it, they pretty much leave you alone. They have a parking lot. I would be happy to go back.

I decided to go to explore this old style restaurant and it worthed it. The place itself is fascinating however the service was not friendly and didn’t help me to understand the menu.the food is full of flavours not good for delicate stomachs. Probably overstimated.

Great drinks and food

This place is in my neighborhood and a go to place for craft cocktails and the kimchi fried rice is my favorite. They are known for their fried chicken. This place is packed on the weekend , but it’s great to go and have dinner and sit in a booth. They also have a button to push for a server which is so cool. There negroni is strong and the perfect night cap.

A great find! Nostalgic galore!

Visited on the last day of 2015. I am sorry that I didn't find this place earlier. Wonder what took me so long. Just LOVE the atmosphere! Had half and half chicken and Kimchi fried rice and Korean beer.

Good food, a bit pricey

Overall, very good Korean food. Spicy chicken was fantastic; must try the rice cake skewers. Nice throw-back atmosphere. You do pay a stiff price, however, to eat in a location that has been featured on TV shows and in movies. Mad Men has driven the price up. Valet parking is the way to go.

Delicious cocktails, nice atmosphere

During a recent vacation I was staying in Koreatown right around the block from this bar. Had the chance to enjoy a few nights here to catch up with friends and get a few nightcaps in. The Mamie Taylor was a surprisingly refreshing choice that was just right. The Old Fashioned is another solid choice. Very cozy bar; recommend snagging a booth. Perfect place to catch up with friends; not too loud at all.

The place I miss the most in LA!

The "Nick's bar" is more than the location of one of my favorite TV series. It's one of the best restaurant! I love and miss it!

GREAT food and AWESOME Hollywood vibe and ambience!

We met another couple here for dinner. I LOVE the red round booths (Mad Men scenes were filmed here, any fan will recognize it). Ambience was nice, not too much noise, so conversation was possible! The food was SO good: Korean fried chicken, vermicelli with mushrooms, potato pancakes with all sorts of seafood filling, and tasty tasty dumplings. Quantities were over the top, even though 4 of us were sharing it! I would return here again and again if I lived in L.A.

Excellent boneless spice chicken

Interesting decor. Very good food. Very nice bar. Staff very attentive. We had the kimchi fried rice, salad noodles, and boneless spice sauce chicken. All very good.

the prince is a trip!

OK, the Mad Men connection, this place was a steak house in a fancy hotel decades ago & was used in several mad men scenes, because they haven't changed the decor, EVER! Now it's a korean restaurant in an apt building, serving excellent fried chicken & other, different takes on korean food... (not a cook at your table BBQ place) Very reasonable drinks in a fun atmosphere, definitely the place for a large group, mostly koreans but very welcoming to all...

Great Old School Ambience; Amazing Fried Chicken

By drjlever |

A friend recommended this place and we sat at the bar. Flocked wall paper and classic faux-leather booths, this is old LA. We had the fried chicken which had been the dish we heard about but on my multiple trips to the ladies room I marveled at the size and beauty of all the dishes on the tables. Place was very busy; very authentic. Excellent value. Can't wait to go back with a group so we can try some of the dishes I saw. Strong recommend if you're in this neighborhood. Excellent skilled bartender. We watched him makes potable works of art all night long. Yum!
