Lunch date

Limited menu. Food was okayt. Server was excellent and heloful. It was pretty empty when we got there for lunch, but I assume it is a great place to be with friends for a drink and a bite to eat. Nice location and on site parking

The best Eggs Benedict

By Minerva55 |

Most gastropubs try and fail to provide an tasty Sunday brunch. The Pullman is the exception. On Sundays they have their Bluegrass Brunch . . . brunch with a side of Bluegrass music. Members of our party LOVED the Pullman Benedict, which you can order with sausage, ham or smoked bacon. I ordered a side fruit salad composed of fresh berries. Another member had the Bread Pudding French Toast. The owner was friendly and gracious. My only suggestion is to work on the coffee. But I am certain their brunch cocktails are delicious!

Just what we needed after a road trip

By Derrek L |

Friendly, laid-back neighborhood vibe. Just what we needed after a 12-hour road trip. Nice selection of draft beers; mixed drinks looked good. The food was good, but perhaps a bit inconsistent in quality/presentation. My Reuben was different but very tasty; thick-cut SMOKED pastrami, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. Yum! Wife's hanger steak had good flavor, but was practically raw in spots, not medium rare as requested, and we normally like our steaks on the rare side. Dessert: a chocolate-filled egg roll with marshmallow fluff for dipping. Nice idea, but the the ratio of bittersweetness of the chocolate to the sweetness of the marshmallow was out of balance, too bitter. Would we return? Yes, because the service was friendly and attentive and there was enough positives about the food to warrant a second try.

Solid food, well prepared, very friendly atmosphere.

My dining companion and I came to The Pullman at the end of a long, frustrating, damp day spent trying to see as much of eastern Atlanta as we could with umbrellas. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating and the food well prepared. When we arrived our server Craig made sure we were comfortable before guiding us both to some alcoholic beverages to take the edge off our day. My companion got a Moscow Mule which he found tasty and refreshing and I tried one of the firm's draught beers that carried a little hop but not so much that it overwhelmed. We shared the fried pickle chips as a starter. If you have never had these, they are worth the experiment. Thickly cut slices of dill pickle, lightly battered and fried. These arrived at our table still warm enough to require caution when eating and delightfully flavorful. My companion had the teriyaki glazed salmon which would have arrived with sides of broccoli and quinoa, neither of which he would have liked, but which he was able to swap for macaroni and cheese and spinach sauteed with garic. I had a curried chicken with fragrant rice dish that was also very nice, the curry flavor coming through and enhancing the fragrant rice without steamrolling it. The price for the meal, with alcohol, was less than $40.

Great food.

Great Down-to-Earth Bar

By Satia C |

My friends and I had gone to another restaurant for brunch, a place that was so noisy we couldn't have a conversation. We enthusiastically left there to enjoy some drinks and conversation. We meandered into the Pullman. We asked the man who greeted us if he would recommend we sit inside or out. The weather was perfect for sitting outside and so we did. There was a bluegrass band playing music inside which we could occasionally hear, especially when the door was open. The server was attentive without hovering. She provided us immediately with water, took our orders and didn't confuse anything. When you have a group of six people, it's not unusual to have some so I was happy we had none. I honestly don't know why Le Petit Marche was so busy and this place wasn't. Our party of six had a much nicer time here than we did there and we left already planning to come here next time for our brunch. The brunch menu looks good and they actually have a variety of eggs benedict (which they call bennies), something my husband specifically hoped to have for brunch. We were there for more than a couple of hours and never felt rushed or unwelcome. Overall a great experience. Now I'm also curious about what else they offer. Do they have karaoke? Seems like a perfect spot for karaoke. They also have a take-one-leave-one library. It's the kind of local bar that lends itself to becoming a favorite spot. If we lived closer, no doubt it would be ours. Looking forward to returning.

Low key but enjoyable

Not a fancy place by any means but very friendly and accommodating service and good food. Young children like the Pullman because it has many toys with which they can play, and there is a kid’s menu.

Really a mixed bag

Bad atmosphere but great service and good food. It was early and there were lots of families with kids, included us. The place is dark, appears dirty and doesn't smell very good. It could definitely use a face lift. Waitress was great and we really enjoyed most of the food. Fried pickles, meatball sub, burgers, pork slider and spinach and all really noteworthy. French fries, mac and cheese ok. Fried chicken sandwich served on slices of white bread, not great. Trivia started at 8:00 and the place did start to fill up. I would go again, especially if they just cleaned it up a little.

A Comfort Food Restaurant and Bar in Heart of Historical Kirkwood Atlanta

By Aaron Kalbfeld |

A progressive bar and restaurant that offers great eats, from both the brunch and dinner menu, such as, Fried Chicken biscuits with grave, Fish and Chips, the Pullmans grilled Salmon, Turkey Avocado wrap, multiple options of Eggs Benedict, and my favorite is the Bread Pudding French Toast! I myself believe that their menu is filled with Wonderful options that can only be described as Wonderful Comfort Food. Please don't forget that along with being a Great restaurant with Hreat food, The Pullmans also offers signature drinks like, Bloody Pullman and my favorite The Kirkwood Mule. They also have a large variety of draft beers and Seasonal D'lites. They also offer entertainment like, live Bluegrass music during the evening and on Sundays, Don't miss the Saturday afternoon Texas HoldEm Poker tournament. So if you would like to have a good time while visiting Atlanta or even if you live in the area, head on out to The Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta, and Check out The Pullman! Is a Must-Do and a Good Time Always will be had!

Favorite Local Eatery!

I absolutely love this place! The Oh George burger is amazing and the Pullman Break, which is on the Saturday/Sunday brunch menu, is always a great choice.

Amazing Neighborhood Gem!

By ttbryan1 |

We went here with two friends that live in the neighborhood. They had gone in this place the night before on a neighborhood wine stroll and tried their cornbread and loved it. Of course, that was a special cornbread that they do not usually have. However, the place was empty when we walked on a Saturday evening, but that was primarily due to the busy event the night before. Dan greeted us and was so nice and attentive. We started with the fries, which come with three difference choices: truffle, aioli sauce and something else. We thought they would be all together, but you have a choice of one of the three. We wanted all of them, so they brought all of them out, separately, and were amazing. Also, we have the H & F pretzel with the cheese, which was so good. We also had drinks, but mostly beer. For dinner, I had the hot brown. I am from Kentucky, originally, and we are particular about our hot browns and this one stood up to the challenge. It was so good and delicious. Another person in our party had the turkey wrap, which they enjoyed, as well as the Oh George burger, which I plan to try the next time. We also had dessert, which consisted of a brownie as well as a peanut butter crepe type item, but both so amazing. Karaoke was getting ready to start as we were finishing up, so I don't know how loud and crazy it gets around then. But, I loved everything about this place. It was quaint, neighborhoody, great food, great service and a very reasonable price.

Nice to sit outside, but food was...meh

By Peggy P |

We saw some beautiful-looking fish and chips go by (apparently on special that day) so we ordered one, along with a turkey sandwich. The cod was fresh and very good but there wasn't much of it, as the two giant pieces consisted mostly of golden-fried breading. I'll eat breaded fish if it's lightly breaded, but this was very thick and heavy, so I ended up picking through it for the small amount of fish. Additionally, these two hot pieces came out directly on top of the fries, so those were soggy. Coleslaw was not bad, but very disappointing, overall. Turkey sandwich came on challah bread, and between that and whatever sauce was used in it, it was unpleasantly sweet and not too good. Might give this place another try when I'm in the area again, because perhaps we just chose the wrong things....Outside seating was enjoyable and service was pleasant.

Great weekend brunch spot

My first brunch in Atlanta was at the Pullman. I had the best hash browns I've ever eaten, and I don't usually like hash browns. The BLT was delicious, too :)

Disappointing t

Disappointing - Fried Chicken was the absolute worst!! (Made KFC seem tasty). Meatloaf was tasty. And the fried Twinkie was delish. Very mixed quality. Definitely would not repeat.

A gastropub near the train tracks

By Gerald P |

We visited The Pullman last Saturday evening. The gastropub, as the restaurant bills itself on the website, occupies a central place in the Kirkwood community of Atlanta. Kirkwood is an historic place, which was once a booming town during the heyday of Atlanta’s railroad-centric boom. Our first hint that The Pullman was going to live up to its billing as a gastropub, was the tall 750-ml bottle of water the server placed in the center of the table. A nice touch - no having to ask for water and making sure the wait staff knows you want water for each person at the table. The food also lived up to the place’s billing. The food at The Pullman is not your typical bar food. The selections are uniquely prepared and delicious. We had the Fried Artichokes and Shrimp Eggrolls for appetizers. Both were very memorable. Marcia had the Pork Schnitzel. It looked wonderful. A nice slice of pork with a crispy, fried crust – typical of what you’d expect from a well prepared Schnitzel. I went with a more pub-like selection: Fish and Chips. It was good, but I now wish I had selected a more adventuresome entrée, like the Moroccan Chicken. But, the hit of the night was the vegetables: roasted garlic spinach tossed in a butter sauce and petite green beans with a fancy French name. They were both to die for! The atmosphere is definitely casual and relaxed, which made the high-end food even more enjoyable. One final thought: is it a restaurant with a bar, a bar with food, of a fancy eating establishment? Price and environment rule out the latter. You decide on the first two options.

Great Community Pub

By Tam R |

The Pullman is an unpretentious neighborhood staple for the Kirkwood crowd. Good food, solid selection of local beers, great service, and the owner, Dan, is as gracious as they come. The best part is that they are constantly doing things to give back to the community, including having live music monthly where the proceeds go towards a cause (such as overdose prevention). It's the kind of place you want to support over and over again.

Terrific food in a quiet neighborhood restaurant

By stantod |

The Pullman has nothing whatsoever to do with the famous train cars. It's just a nice neighborhood restaurant but the food is GREAT from appetizers through desert. Very reasonably priced. Started with the Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese...best I've ever had! Next we shared the Pullman Dip. Tender, juicy meat with the best dip featuring Guinness beer in it. Finished with a fantastic Creme Brulee, enough for two!

Beyond chill and relax

The Ban Mi wrap was fantastic as was the dessert. The atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. You may need to get your server’s attention as the vibe is that relaxed.

Local Hideaway

By Dane C |

I love the Pullman. I've been going there since they first opened and were starving for customers. Dan, the owner, is the nicest person you'll probably ever meet. Their food is great, and the entire vibe is just very local and friendly. I often strike up conversations with other guests and generally look forward to the socialness of the Pullman more than anything.

avaragely good
