The newly reopened Red Hook winery is a perfect place to enjoy some wine with a great atmosphere and view. After hurricane Sandy, the winery has reopened and is super chic but unpretentious. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the vintages. It is a great place to sit and enjoy a tasting or your favorite Eine from a tasting and soak in the great view.

Nice tasting, first four wines were two pairs of the same grapes (not just same variety, literally same grapes) with differing treatments by two different vintners. Lovely view.

Laid-back winery in an old warehouse, right on the waterfront with a great view. The tasting room is a big beautiful big space. Nice selection of wines, with grapes sourced from around the state, and produced on site. Servers were friendly and helpful. Plenty of space at standing tables and the bar. Four samples were about $15 after tax. They also have a small section of couches and and chairs to enjoy a sample, glass, or bottle there.

Red Hook Winery never fails to deliver a fantastic experience. We have come here for the past few years for my wife’s birthday and always have an amazing time. The staff is super helpful and friendly, the wines are wonderful, and the neighborhood is so much fun. You can’t go wrong.

Red Hook Winery is located in Red Hook. It is about 10 minutes walk from the NYC Ferry Red Hook station and in a converted red-brick warehouse on the waterfront overlooking the port of NY, Staten Island etc. They collect best grapes from NY state, Finger Lakes, Long Island etc, and make NY wines from the scratch at the winery. Barrel Tour was fascinating, directly tasting from the different barrels and years, appreciating the maturing process and various tastes. The tour gives you generous dose and variety of wines for tasting for tasting as well. Staffs were very pleasant and helpful. NY State is the 3rd largest wine producer in US after California and Washington State, but NY wine does not go abroad because many are made in small batches. You can taste all NY at Red Hook Winery. The area also has coffee roasting artisan, glass making shop, whiskey brewery etc., all small scale run by entrepreneurs. It is a great outing for relaxing weekend. Definitely recommended.

We did a Wine Tasting at The Red Hook Winery at Pier 61 in South Brooklyn. As we were blessed with perfect weather for our visit, that made the spot also perfect; by the sea, looking over to the Verrazano Narrow Bridge. We tried 6 wines, allRed Hook, all from New York State; a Chardonnay, 2 Sauvignon Blancs (one of which was an orange wine), a Rose, and 2 reds. All 6 wines were interesting and complex. We ordered an Charcuterie Board to accompany our wines, which was a little small but very very delicious. We would highly recommend this experience and Red Hook Wines.

This place was a great find...located in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn right along the pier its a fun visit. We took a cab over from Manhattan via the Battery tunnel and only took about 20 minutes from midtown, you can also take a combo of other transportation, on the return we walked from the winery through the Red Hook section to the IKEA store which has a free water taxi which runs every 40 minutes and takes you back to the Wall Street pier in Manhattan. For us there were several other cool little places in RedHook section worth a stop, there is a chocolate plant, a brewery and several other neat places. Red Hook is an old shipyard dock area (Queen Mary docks there cuz its deeper water) that is going through a redevelopment phase, some sections are still very funky which you should stay away from, but for the most part the area around the winery is very safe. If you contact the winery they will set up a tasting and short tour(the winery is quite small), they are experimenting with New York State varietals trying to mix and match grapes to find blends that are unique...we tried 6 different wines, the reisling was pretty good and the reds were a little rough, but we did find a 2008 red that we took home. Its a fun place to visit, and give your self another hour or two to explore RedHook.

Loved the wine and the atmosphere! We came in 10 people, a mix of Italians and Mexicans and we loved the tasting selections and cheese. Highly recommended

The staff are really knowledgeable and the selection of wines are of a huge variety. They are great with the short tour on the weekend. Its a really nice experience and the view from the pier is great. Nice spot to go to on the weekend.

We visited here with friends during our stay in Brooklyn. It’s tucked away in a quiet, atmospheric waterfront warehouse with amazing water views (and the occasional squadron of geese flying over!) Evan our server was highly informative and super resourceful managing to remember the preferences for all six of us as we tasted our way through four wines each. Charcuterie and cheese platters complemented the wines nicely. We were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the winery and purchased some bottles to continue our ‘research’ back at base. A great afternoon experience comprising water ferry with amazing views from Pier11 on Manhattan, a stroll to Steve’s Key Lime Pie shop and the tasting at Red Hook next door.

My boo works here so I'm gonna give it a 5 y'all. Say hey to Abe and Chris and the gang and try the wine and all that.

My husband, myself and his aunt visited this winery as a recommendation from one of his aunt's co-workers. It was a bit of a gloomy Sunday afternoon, so this was a perfect spot to sit and relax for a minute with a great glass of wine. We took the ferry from Wall Street and ended up taking an Uber from the dock because the weather, but in the summer it would be an easy walk. The location was beautiful and I would love to see it on a nice day. The wines were delicious, my favorite was the Pinot Gris! We even got a tour of the back area where they make the wine and their barrel room. I absolutely loved that they handle everything from the harvesting to the bottling. If we didn't have to fly home to Chicago I would have ended up buying more than 2 bottles. We will definitely be back to visit when we're back in NYC to visit.

It was an amazing day! All the employees were really friendly and make you feel that you are welcome and they love what they’re doing!!

Visited red Hook Winery on a cold saturday afternoon and felt so cozy that I forgot that it was 25 degrees outside. We sat by the window and felt the warm sun while tasting wine. The place is not big but the decor is great. Staff is friendly. Great place overall for an afternoon date as they are not open very late. We missed the winery tour that they offer but will go back soon for that.

One can only hope that it will be a long time before a metro is put in this part of NY. Until then: On Saturday/Sunday use the free IKEA water taxi and turn left down the road (leave IKEA on the right). Then you will also find this beautiful place. And suddenly a completely different view of NY opens up for short-term tourists.

We spent an afternoon tasting a variety of whites and reds. The tasting room is a nice place to spend time with friends and the view is right on the water. We had a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic server (Evan) that did a great job explaining the different wines.

We headed out here on a recommendation. A bit of a mission from Manhattan - but If you can - get the ferry. It was totally worth the trip. Our 45 min tour turned into a two hour masterclass from our guide. With a true love for his wine and the brand. It was a brilliant day all round. Totally worth the price.

Friendly staff, great views wine so,so will have to go back and try again. The few I had were nothing to writ home about

We took a walking tour of the Red Hook Winery with one of the wine makers. It was interesting to hear how they buy the fruit, how they ferment it and blend it and then go through the tasting. It is a beautiful facility to tour and everyone there was on wine tastings or just enjoying a glass of wine with friends. It is a nice place to just socialize. The only bad part was that we did not have the chance after the tour to taste anything. For another time.

We went here on the recommendation from our local wine bar owner and had a nice afternoon tasting some reds and some whites. It was very east to get to via the Ferry and after we walked around Red Hook. Great way to spend a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

Cool, comfy interior with a great view! So happy we stopped in for a wine tasting. Unfortunately tried 4 different whites, and just didn't like them enough to take any home. I would definitely suggest couples or friends to stop in. Loved the atmosphere, unfortunately just not the wines.

Went to the Red Hook Winery for the ExploreBK.com launch party! Not only was it s hidden gem but the wine was fantastic!!!!! Would recommend them for private parties, business events, and of course their fabulous wine!

Arrived at this wonderfully located authentic port side warehouse, to be welcomed by some amazing staff. The wine and light food tasting hit the spot. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience truly memorable. We will return soon to become regulars…

A wonderful place to spend an afternoon. The staff is extremely knowledgable of their wines and very courteous. The ambiance is comforting. Will definitely be back.

What a pleasant surprise to find a winery in Brooklyn. Visited this location last week on a beautiful Saturday afternoon (my husband's birthday) at this wonderful location. Red Hook has stepped up the game. The wines were really tasty and affordable, The staff was super friendly. Spent 2 hours just relaxing in the lounge area and sipping wine.

Stopped by to see the winery and taste some of Red Hook's offering. Given that I find most NY state made reds of less than stellar quality, I opted for a tasting of the whites, particularly the Riesling, which in NY State can be a lovely, lovely wine. While one often enjoys wine and cheese, I did not expect the first wine to taste like cheese. A sort of semi-soft ripe cheese. Moving up from the "least" of the wines to a better one, there was some fruit, cantaloupe to be exact. While I don't associate cantaloupe with Riesling, the worst part was the cottage cheese flavor that came out. A quick spit to say the least. The top wine tasted was just too much, especially when the woman who poured it took pride in the fuel oil taste and aroma. Seriously, Riesling by EXXON? I have never been to a winery that took pride in abusing a grape. They managed to destroy all that makes the Riesling great in Germany, Alsace and the Finger Lakes of NY. Better off taking you $5 and going around the corner and getting a frozen, chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick at Steve's. In sum a pompous and poor pour to say the least.

As you wander around Red Hook, perhaps visiting Hometown BBQ and Steve's Key Lime Pie place, be sure to pop into the Red Hook winery - friendly staff and an inexpensive tasting of delicious wines await you. The reds are particularly good.

Great tasting. It can be crowded, so get there early or learn to be patient. Lots of variety in both wine and winemaking. Thank you, Vince!

We heard this was a good place to stop in for a wine tasting. It was a little hard to find but we eventually made it. The location is beautiful, right on the water. There are plenty of comfy seating areas. We did the wine flight tasting of 4 pours for $15. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was so friendly and relaxed.

Real chill place but also very nice. Right by the water, with great parking. We were served by Selma, who helped setup my engagement surprise.

In an old warehouse on the water so your views while sampling wine are wonderful. Out the back door you'll have a view of the Statue of Liberty too! The staff is well educated about the wine you're sampling so it's very enjoyable and you'll want to take some with you. They treated us very well!

Wine was very good and the location was amazing. They even have a cute little pug greeting everyone.

We had the chance to visit this great winery last week and it is now at the top of my list of go-to wineries for a number of reasons; they are lucky enough to have not one but three wine makers on site using a combination of old world technique and modern wine making philosophy. in fact, one is a student of Greek philosophy and professor of the same. This eclectic and gregarious blend makes for some of the most fantastic wine I have ever had. If you are lucky a cute little dachshund named Buttercup may accompany you to the barrel room for a tasting led by a sommelier/bartender of world class and perhaps the most knowledgeable I have met. I truly hope they ship, because I want to procure a lot more of their tasty wine!

Great service, amazing knowledge of all the wines, great selection! Staff are super friendly and really made the experience fun- thank you !

Very quiet in dockside warehouse where for a small charge you can sample wines from the finger lakes area of NY state. Very helpful barman. Red Hook area is very rundown and feels almost derelict except for an Ikea and this parade of warehouses.

This place is definitely not on the beaten path by Brooklyn standards, but if you venture out to Red Hook, you should make a point of stopping in and trying some of their wines. Red Hook Winery has a nicely appointed tasting room on a pier next to some other local artisan shops. They offer tastings during their open hours and have an extensive list for you to choose from. Kudos to them for offering flights of 3 or 6 or a la carte however you would like. The fact that you are not limited to picking wines in specific price ranges speaks volumes as some other wineries are more restrictive. My friend and I each had a flight of 6 (1 oz pours, so nothing crazy) for $15 - that seems like a great deal to me. Though I didn't buy any wine to take home, it doesn't mean I won't go back in the future to stock up. The only reason I am giving them 4 vs 5 stars is that our service was a bit lackluster. Other tasting groups seemed to have servers who were more attentive and informative and ours was not. The wines were great - I liked 5 of the 6 - but if we hadn't tried to ask questions as we went through the tasting, we wouldn't have known anything other than the name of the wine. Definitely worth swinging through if you can - they also do daily tours but we arrived slightly too late to be included in the one for that day.

I visited here as I own a wine shop and wine school in London and wanted to try unusual and interesting wines made in the Long Island area. They have great facilities, a very interesting wines made in a myriad of styles from three different winemakers. Excellent visit and well worth it

Visited here during Valentine's weekend and had a great wine tasting with Jeff! He was very knowledgeable and friendly and made the experience really fun. His mulled wine is also amazing.

Had a group event at Red Hook Winery this past weekend, and was blown away! An all-around terrific experience. A self-claimed veteran of the New York entertainment scene, I was surprised that I hadn't heard of the winery until friends planned this event for a joint birthday party. Their unique model since launching in 2008 has been to buy grapes from local vineyards, mostly North Fork, and then make wines on premises. Their location is the revitalized Red Hook waterfront, an intriguing contrast of hip urban development and old NY maritime heritage. We were lucky to have a sunny day with lots of community activity and great views of Miss Liberty and NY harbor. Best of all, Sandra (spelling?) gave us a great educational tour and was extremely generous with the wine pouring. Our group left with several discounted cases and a bit of a sway as we carried them to our waiting cabs. Highly recommended! (Note: Though they did provide some cheese snacks, this is not a food experience - we planned nearby meals before and after)

Red Hook Brooklyn is best known for the rough and tumble of the docks and the longshoremen union which was the setting for Brando in On the Waterfront. While these days have slowly faded away, Red Hook still retains an isolated ruggedness that sets it apart from the chic Brooklyn. The water that surrounds Red Hook with vistas that would command millions of dollars in any other urban city are incredible. No wonder well-heeled Italian developers who did the Wyethe Hotel in Williamsburg have moved to Red Hook with two major projects in the pipeline. When you are in Red Hook you need to do the following: * visit IKEA and go outside to their reclaimed park with the cranes * take the free ferry from IKEA to Fairway Market * have lunch at Fairway outside and take in the Verrazano Bridge and Statute of Liberty in one felt swoop * go to Red Hook Winery on Pier just around the corner from Fairway * walk down to Valentino Pier and go out on the fishing pier and take in the amazing views and salt air * the stop at Steve's Key Line pie and get small pie on a stick - you are now in heaven * them walk down to Conover Street and stop in at Cacao Prieto where they make chocolate and liqueur from Dominican Republic sugar right there - take a tour of their little factory and sample the wares *then head up to Van Brunt Street and visit the different galleries and shops and make sure you stop at The Good Fork for dinner * or, if you don't want a formal dinner then head down toward IKEA on Van Dyke Street and stop in at Rocky Sullivan's for drafts, great pizza and burgers - great pick-up music as well * on your way home, you should stop at Jalopy on Columbia Street near the tunnel for so local music * now you are exhausted, drunk and must go to bed

Shady. Went there this past Sunday after Hometown BBQ (which was great). Entered the packed winery got on line to purchase a tasting. When it was our turn to order, the employee stated that they closed at 6pm and that it would be illegal to serve alcohol as it could lead to them losing their license. I looked at my watch it was 6:15 and I was like okay makes sense. But there was a customer right in front of us that just purchased a bottle and they opened it and provided glasses. I asked the employee and she stated if you purchase a bottle then it would be ok. It was just me and my friend and a bottle seemed to much so we said o well. But then the cashier next to us just provided 2 customers with 2 glasses of wine, and I asked how that was possible. She said that they were part of a tour so it was ok. I was upset and didn't understand these rules. The cashier that served the 2 customers then came up to me and explained that they were "Special", friends of the owner. So I said so if your special then you get service else you don't get served and he said yes. And with that response we left. If your going to be shady at least keep your stories straight.

We brought our friend here for her birthday. The location was beautiful and the staff was very nice but, service was very slow and we ended up going half an hour over our reservation wine tasting time. Then, to add to it, although our waiter was very polite, he told us that WE were staying too long and had to leave for the next party. Just a bit of disorganization on the day we were there, otherwise, it would have been a wonderful experience.

Always a fun time. Each summer we plan a trip to the Winery to do a tasting. The Staff is friendly and informative about the wine we are tasting. The snacks are great. Never rushed and always feel at home. If you're visiting Brooklyn, I would highly recommend a trip to the Winery. They also offer a tour explaining how the wine is made which is very informative.

A great find in Brooklyn is the Red Hook Winery. Come for a short tour and stay for a wine tasting at a nominal fee. There are cheesy nibbles to purchase to accompany your libations. This is a very relaxed , with comfy chairs and couches and a table to accommodate several friends. While the Winery closes at 5PM, we were told that they would not rush us out and we stayed until 6:30PM. Tasting wines and others are available for purchase. Located on the Brooklyn waterfront, it is an oasis from the bustle of the City.

This beautiful space is a fun spot to get together with small groups of friends. The reasonably priced wines are delicious. The flights allow you to taste whatever suits your mood. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

The Red Hook Winery is a lovely place to visit. A beautiful view with delicious wines. I went with a group of friends for wine tasting and it was SO fun! The server was great and the winery is not stingy with their pours. We had a great time!

This place is a must to visit if you’re visiting NY. We had a lovely few hours here doing the wine tasting.. well worth the trip.. and the views are fantastic.. Evan and the team know their stuff about wine..

The Red Hook Winery Barrel Room tour was fun, interactive, and informative. We learned about New York’s wine regions, the winemaking process, and Red Hook Winery’s distinctive approach to winemaking. Our tour guide Emily went above to make everyone feel welcome and heard. I highly recommend the tour and the winery to anyone interested in learning more about winemaking and looking to sample some exquisite New York wine.

This spot is a gem in Red Hook. Low key vibes against the dramatic backdrop of the east river with the ability to sneak a peak of Lady Liberty this place is what you call unique. Great experience overall at a 4:30 tasting on Good Friday, I would absolutely return. Great experience. Bring a date or go with a group.

I live in Manhattan, I've been social distancing, but bike riding around the city. Discovered Red Hook Winery on one of my rides, made a reservation and three of us enjoyed 6 wines (two Sauvingnon Blancs, two Chardonnays, one red and one dessert wine). Wine explanations were top notch, great experience. Outdoor seating on a pier, at the water's edge. Amazing views of the Verrazano-Narrows bridge and NY Harbor. Just watch out for the groups of young women not social distancing on the pier (which has been my experience).
A little gem in Red Hook
Found this winery in a book called "111 places in New York you must not miss" and so glad we went here. The team there are very knowledgeable about the wines they had. We did the tasing which was great value and we tried some really interesting wines. You can also sit back and just enjoy a glass or bottle of very good wine. They also have nibbles to compliment the wine they serve. Please do visit here as think you will enjoy it if you like wine.
