Nice location, decent food, not great service

By Jon W |

A nice night on the riverwalk, watching the ducks play. Our good was well prepared and tasty; the service was not good. Slow and incomplete. My colleague ordered a meal with a salad that never came; a desert with ice cream turned into a 30-minute wait, only to arrive with ice cream you would never pair with that item. If you don't have it, don't offer it.

Cute but no worth it or the wait time to eat

By RnEReid |

I had the Margarita Flat bread pizza with chicken added. The wait for our food was outrageous. Not only was it only 4 tables that actually was eating the more others enter the long it took for the food to come out. The coke that my husband ordered was flat and our waitress was no where to be found. The maitre d passed us and I ask for our waitress that still never appeared. The manager with a big smile ask if everything was ok and I said no and told her about the drink. The waitress recommends the tacos to my husband which wasn't very good. My flat bread was a big blob of mozzarella cheese two cherry tomatoes cut in half and no margarita sauce was found. Next trip I will be skipping this place.

Great lunch!

By Rose Mary G |

We loved sitting outdoors enjoyed the view of the river while having a great lunch. The steak tacos and the kale salad where excellent. Carlos served us and you can tell that he is a veteran at providing customer service.

Nice patio seating on the Riverwalk but quality not reflective of prices

By Evan C |

We liked sitting on the patio to enjoy a sunny afternoon lunch. Unfortunately, pretty much any restaurant on the Riverwalk will afford that and this place sis nothing to make me want to come back. Food was good but nothing spectacular. Started off badly, nobody even checking on us for almost ten minutes after being seated, but the manage came to the rescue as we tried to leave and had to ask for her to let he know why. Prices are what you would expect ($16 for a nice burger and fries, etc), little on the steep side but hey, it's the Hilton's restaurant on the Riverwalk. But really, the quality should be impressive enough to say that was worth another trip. Portion sice was pretty generous though, so not really complaining. All in all, average experience, will be going to the many other options in the are instead of returning.

Great breakfast bar!

By mrsj264 |

We were ready for something besides hotel breakfast and were not disappointed with River’s Edge buffet. Everything we want and it was all delicious!

Nice place on Riverwalk

By Romanw871 |

I went for an early lunch on Sunday. I like the location on the Riverwalk. I was promptly seated and opted for the outdoor patio. It took a few minutes prior one of the waiters noticed that I have not been served, he immediately came and brought with him my waitress, the service was good since. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Based on prior reviews I went with chicken salad Veronique. It was very good and I would recommend it.

Excellent service, great soup and margaritas

By MellowDella |

A+. I come to San Antonio about every 4-6 months for work and like to stop into this River Walk restaurant every time I come. The margaritas are flavorful, not too sweet, and the happy hour can't be beat. When I came this week, I was given superior service by Liza Garcia. As a single traveler, eating alone can be daunting and unappealing, but my friendly service by Liza made me feel welcome immediately. I was looking for a quiet early evening margarita and a small meal while I did a little work. Liza was attentive without being overly so, she was kind, gave excellent recommendations, and even let me try a new soup, the jalapeno cream soup (I would definitely recommend, not very spicy with lots of flavor). The chicken tortilla soup was also chock-full of well seasoned chicken, corn, cheese, and tortilla strips (I asked for no avocado). I would have been back the next time I visit San Antonio anyway, but next time I'll be sure to ask if Liza is available. I'd be willing to wait for a table in her section.

Eh....

By Edward F |

No maitre d when we walked in and our waitress couldn’t care less. Very indifferent. Ordered the $27 price fix. Eh.... ordered prime rib , it came well done. I was starving so i gobbled it down. Wife chicken piccata was fatty. Waitress didn’t clear off plates before next serving? C’mon? Very disappointed since it started out with a spectacular salad.

Very Disappointing food

By LUchicago |

A beautiful café conveniently located near a bridge to the river walk with a lovely view. However, the simple food that we ordered was very dissatisfying mostly because everything was served cold. The tortilla soup was cold and the fries with the deli sandwich were cold and greasy. I would not recommend eating here. May be a good place for a drink.

Great lunch

By Jaimie L |

I think this was the best lunch we had all trip. Had a chicken salad. Very good. We sat outside in March, great view of the riverwalk. And the service was quick and friendly.

Extremely friendly staff!

By TXMOMof2 |

The breakfast buffet was very good. Made to order omelettes with plenty of cold and hot options. Coffee and juice are included, so it’s really a good price for what you get. They were nice enough to make my kids waffles with Nutella, which wasn’t on the buffet. Top-notch service all around. When you stay on the Riverwalk, it does cost more to eat, but the views and ambiance make it a nice vacation treat. The River’s Edge Cafe is a great place to dine with wonderful San Antonio hospitality!

Don’t order chips and salsa

By Kristy T |

Service was slow. Our waitress had to be asked twice about our appetizer because it never came. It came out a few minutes before our food and then they charged us $26 for 2 orders of chips and salsa.

Hilton stay

By ceatonca2tx |

Visited san antonio for business and not only was the hotel nice.. But the little restaurant attached to rhe bottom was wonderful. Mostly due to the customer service from our waitress. I believe hwr name was kelsey. Tiny little dark-haired lady with the best demeanor possible and so very helpful. Thank youbfor the stay and please if this review makes it back to the hotel, please thank the young waotress kelsey as well.

Static Menu

By Gerald B |

The breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are the same. It is a good place to relax, people watch, and have a drink. Prices are n the high side.

Stay healthy - don't eat here!!!!

By Pam C |

Although the view on the river front was nice, the food was terrible. We ordered the Snapper and Ribeye. They were both so heavily seasoned with the same seasoning that they tasted exactly the same. My husband and I both got sick and I ended up running to the bathroom to throw up immediately after eating, it was that bad. We barely made the walk back to the hotel because we had to stop at trash cans along the route because we were both trying not to get sick again. We told management and all they offered was a complimentary dessert. I don't want more bad food, what I wanted was a reduction on my bill. The server was great and a really nice guy, don't remember his name though. The hostess was great too.

EXCELLENT Breakfast Buffet!

By Charles K |

I came to San Antonio for a GI conference and this retaurant was along the Riverwalk of the hotel that I stayed at. Unbeknownst to me, a breakfast buffet got included in my hotel stay. This turned out to be the better experience of my stay. They had an omelet station where you could have almost ANYTHING made to order in your omelet. There was a WIDE variety of hot dishes with bacon, ham, eggs, pancakes, bread pudding {!}, potatoes and more every day. Almost any bread was available along with cold cereals or oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese. One morning there was a gigantic platter of smoked Nova Scotia Salmon SO I loaded up in the first thing and skipped lunch! Juice and coffee were included. I NEVER ordered SO I DON'T KNOW if the bar was available. They cleared my table off very quickly and it was clean with the food replenished quickly. Definitely delicious!

Dessert

By Jacquie D |

Stopped by after a dinner with friends elsewhere to have coffee and dessert. Coffee was free with any dessert order. The dessert was a chocolate banana cake - it was fine but I probably wouldn’t order it again. The coffee, however was really delicious! The service was on the slow side, but acceptable. The only downside was the seat had chocolate all over it and it got all over my hand - I asked for a napkin and received several 5-10 minutes later, but when the server saw it did not really clean my hand fully she didn’t offer any other option (like a wetnap or a moist napkin). Yes I could have gone to the restroom, but with a foot injury I wasn’t in the mood to walk more than I had. Simply offering to help a little more is what distinguishes food from great service.

Prickly Pear Margarita on the Rocks!

By atrainhansonn |

If you go to this restaurant have the prickly pear margarita on the rocks, it is so good! The restaurant was clean. The scene is beautiful beside the riverwalk and the food was delicious! I had the combo nachos and street tacos. The meals are good portions also. Our server was very nice and was constantly checking on us. The price of the food is the medium range but a good value.

Birds stealing sweetener from the table

By Hotfarm |

... you should definitely have your breakfast inside. We are currently staying at the Hilton and have included breakfast in the room plan. This morning we had breakfast at the riverside and did actually regret this decision even before the coffee arrived. Big black birds were walking around on the tables and very selectively stealing the pink and yellow bags of sweetener. Once the bags are in the sidewalk and most of it eaten, the leftovers are left for the little birds. We will definitely eat inside tomorrow. Having said this - the breakfast buffet is nice with a sufficient selection to chose from.

For $19.50 I expected a good Caesar salad

By Stephanie H |

For $19.50 I expected a good chicken Caesar salad. It was loaded with dressing and crouton and the chicken was hard to find. I finally just started pushing the croutons aside to try to find the chicken. The picture shows about half of what was in the salad. The restaurant was not full but we waited about 40 minutes for our food and another 20 to get our check when we were done eating. The chicken tenders were like Tyson’s from the freezer. The burger and sweet potato fries were ok but not good enough to make up for the rest. Overall, poor food, slow and overpriced. Better to try somewhere else.

Good margaritas and friendly staff

By ScenicWanderer |

Nice service and good margaritas and right on the River Walk. The breakfast buffet was very good and omelet bar was a plus.

Perfect omelets, perfect service!

By lynnita30 |

This small hotel cafe is literally at the river's edge and the people who work here seem like they are so happy with their breakfast guests that the service is top-notch! Who would expect that in a basic hotel cafe? The omelets are custom made by a very pleasant young man who delivers them directly to your table...no standing and waiting for them to be done like other breakfast buffets! I loved the option of eating outside with the narrated river cruises passing by...but watch out for.the dive bombing hungry birds who nibble on your plate if they get a chance! Pick a table closer to the building, they seem to feel boldest by the river ones!

Great Service

By The World is My Oyster |

Had dinner there last night, and even though it took a long time to get the server's attention, the rest of the evening went real smooth. Management even comped a round of Margaritas for our party of 5 due to the long wait. The food was pretty good, though slightly under seasoned. We enjoyed the churros filled with hot chocolate. Our server Daniella was very attentive the entire evening, and made us feel right at home! Good food, nice atmosphere, and outstanding service!

Happy Visitor

By Arlene |

Ms. Sheila is the best.. thank you for making my trip great..great place to visit if you are in town and ask for Me. Sheila

Good food and service

By Williana G |

Really good food and the services was amazing. Just next to the river but not crowed place 👍🏻. Will definitely come back here

Not Up To Hilton Standards

By BillM551 |

I understand that COVID 19 has affected all restaurants. However, this was a totally disappointing experience. Because we were staying at the Hilton, we did not want to navigate Riverwalk and expected to find better quality food. We were looking for a light ending meal to the Thanksgiving day. River's Edge offered a very limited menu. Chips and queso are not a light fare, but all that we could find on the short menu. The drink menu was limited and those we received were not well prepared. I do give credit to the wait staff for trying as best they could to appease diners. We did enjoy sitting by the river.

Nice relaxing dinner

By JamaicaRiu |

We ate here our first night after arriving in the early evening in San Antonio because it was located in our hotel (Hilton Palacio) and had heard good things about it. We sat outside on the patio, so we could enjoy the beautiful weather and people watching on the River Walk. We ordered the Prime Rib and the Chicken Parmesan special and a few Margaritas. Food, drinks and service were excellent. Overall, great place to relax after a long day.

Treated like Family

By Dale G |

Carlos was probably the absolute BEST server I have ever had. The mane treats all customers like family. The restaurant was very nice and clean. I appreciate all the staff!

Hotel restaurant is awesome!!

By Stephen H |

I stayed for 4 nights and ate out for each meal all around the river walk. Of all, my favorite restaurant was the hotel restaurant! They have THE BEST margaritas and the flatbread with prosciutto is to die for!!! They also had wonderful customer service and bartenders!! Ask for Yolanda Granado. If she’s bartending, you’ll be guaranteed a margarita that will be over the top delicious!!

No rush!

By JackandBetty |

Great drinks and apps. Sat down to get a drink and apps while waiting for the others in our party (our new Airman First Class and his buds) our server was great and refilled our waters many times on this hot Saturday. We finished and paid and stayed a total of 2.25 hours! No one waiting ---just drinking in the atmosphere and people watching . It was so great that no one rushed us! Just lovely.

Went for a "light" meal

By Trudy H |

We were staying at the Hilton Palacio del Rio & wanted to have a light meal of chicken tortilla soup. If we had only gotten the soup, it would have been a nice, light meal. We thought it might not be enough so we got an appetizer - Texas Nachos. The name should have let us know that it would be BIG! As an appetizer, it could have easily served 3 people & maybe 4, depending on how much they wanted. Here is the menu description: TEXAS NACHOS Savory bean and cheese nachos topped with your choice of shredded chicken tinga or Dr. Pepper brisket. Served with a side of pico de gallo, sour cream and homemade guacamole $12.75 We had the brisket. We enjoyed our meal & it was very tasty, if not "light" because we ate it all! We went about 5:30pm & were seated right away. As the picture shows, there weren't hardly any other people that early. The food was brought quite quickly after ordering.

The service was quick and the staff made us feel welcome right away.

By Dominic C |

This restaurant is amazing! The atmosphere is great and the chips and queso we had was above amazing! This restaurant is located on the San Antonio riverwalk. We were seated right when we arrived, and the host was very nice. We were seated right on the river which had great views! A huge shoutout to our waiter, Ines, who was truly amazing! She was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Great food, beautiful views, and top-tier service. We will definitely be back!

Uninspired food and service

By Catzeyes |

I booked a table for 7:45 through Open Table, but was able to walk to this waterside restaurant faster than Google predicted and arrived closer to 7:30. Almost all indoor tables were empty on a March Wednesday night, but as a couple had just left an outdoor table, I said I'd be happy to wait a few minutes for it to be cleared. That meant a few squirts with a disinfecting spray and some swipes with a cloth on the glass top, sweeping crumbs to the floor (to the delight of a grackle). I was seated at 7:35 and given the photocopied menu and bar list. I might just as well have waited on a Riverwalk bench till reservation time, because it took about 10 minutes for me to flag down a waiter to order -- it was evidently not his table. In fairness, once I got his attention, he did stop to check on me after bringing me some water and my wine, and to see if I was enjoying my food. I freely confess, I don't eat a lot of Southwestern food, so the grilled marinated chicken on roasted veg might be just someone else's cup of tea. To me, the seasonings seemed dull and the sides (black beans and herbed rice) bland and lackluster. At least the chicken was hot and well-cooked, but the cilantro and lime marinade rather got lost in the vegetables. At $40 with tax and tip, the price was high for what I felt I got; a friend at the conference I was attending said "chalk it up to Riverwalk pricing."

Delicious but a little pricey

By Christina L |

Our waiter Angel was amazing. We came in as a party of 10. Some people wanted separate tickets. Some people changed their orders. Some were picky and asked for special preparation to the food and somehow he got it all correct 100%! The food was very good. The menu for breakfast/brunch had so many choices!! I will eat here again before we leave San Antonio! The atmosphere was great too, right in my hotel along the riverwalk, with boats to watch. They also had the doors open giving it an indoor/outdoor feel. Great! Would give a 5 but just a little pricey.

Delicious and unique

By Michael J |

My wife and I had a great breakfast at this hotel restaurant. They have unique options that change daily. The food was made to order, hot and delicious. A bit pricey but to be expected at a hotel restaurant in a touristy area.

Wonderful Riverwalk Cafe & its in the Palacio Del Rio Hotel !

By Donktex |

My wife and I had a phenominal "spur of the moment" dinner at this delightful cafe. We sat outside by the Riverwalk and I enjoyed an excellent Prime Rib dinner while my wife opted for the Palacio Street Tacos - all followed up with a shared piece of fantastic Key Lime Pie. From the time we were greeted by the Hostess, Caitlyn, until we were served by both Krystal and Kaelyn - the friendly, efficient and truly pleasant service was outstanding. I even took the time to tell the manager, Jennifer how much we appreciated and enjoyed the Cafe. A great job by everyone (especially the chef, of course) - you will enjoy it for casual early evening dining.

who would have thought we could sit outside in February

By Cynthia U |

it's february but balmy on the river. the birthday continues with the best mexican food and margaritas around. try the street tacos and the prickly pear margarita which is something to write home about. this is a hilton restaurant and either enter from alamo and ask someone how to get to the river or enter from the river walk.

Unexpected surprise!

By Mauryt31 |

I ate here twice on my visit to San Antonio. Service was quick and pleasant on my lunch break. The shrimp tacos were good, especially the tasty garnish on the tops. I highly recommend the salad with the pear vinegarette. I added steak and had enough for lunch and dinner. Great patio for people watching on the Riverwalk.

By the Hilton

By paisaMiami |

The service was terrible. We waited 40 minutes and the restaurant had at least 15 tables empty. The waiter had a rude attitud. We felt so uncomfortable that we cancelled our food order, pay our drinks and left! Poor management. We were very surprised because the food looked good. We will never go there again.

Hooray for Yolanda!

By robbiejencarter |

The best thing about vacation??? Being spoiled... Thank you, Yolanda, for the great service at the bar, and the Guacamole that was so delicious that we ate too much of it and had to cancel our dinner plans! :)

The best place on the a Riverwalk!

By Ashlynmae |

I was in San Antonio for a convention. My friends and I weren't staying at the Hilton but ended up having dinner and drinks here every day, sometimes twice a day. The service was excellent. We were waited on by Enriqueta who was very sweet, and Kelsey who is THE BEST server that I have ever had. We asked for her whenever we could. I was a waitress for many years and that girl deserves a promotion! She not only took great care of us, but I saw her interactions with everybody around and she knows what she's doing. I will be back in October and have decided to stay at the Hilton so I'm looking forward to seeing her and everybody there again! Also i have not stopped thinking about the prickly pear margarita. It's HUGE and delicious for a very reasonable price.

Good food, terrible service

By Shelly N |

Disinterested wait staff from hostess to bus person, had to ask several times to have table wiped down, had to hear specials from the another table - there are a lot of choices, skip this one.

Outstanding chorizo and eggs on the buffet

By James M |

Started by debating whether I wanted chorizo and eggs from the buffet or a chorizo and cheese omlette from the omlette station? Asked the waiter which was better and he said both! Brought me chorizo eggs benedict from the kitchen and I had an omlette. Bacon was amazing and the pink grapefruit juice was the best.

A great frozen!

By Steven V |

Writing this review because, being from Houston, I was looking to explore margaritas while here in SA. So far I have had 4 at different restaurants and bars, and this has been by far the best!!! Not too tangy or sweet, this marg was the only one that also stays frozen and has an awesome consistency. I also had the fajita salad, and the shrimp were plentiful and very fresh!

Chef is the only good thing

By Sherri |

We had a long day of exploring & decided to eat dinner at our hotel. With so many restaurants to choose from, this one really missed the mark. Service was incredibly slow, bartender was rude when we pointed out they sent the wrong beer and the entire staff seemed overwhelmed even though there were many empty tables. Saving grace was the food...we each chose different varieties of pasta and all enjoyed our dishes. That being said, the food just can’t overcome the dreadful service. We would not return.

Great Experience

By Serendipityjl |

There was a wait. It’s right across from the Go Rio tour so by the time I got information about that, my table was ready. I had the Birria Breakfast Tacos. Delicious and full of flavor! The service was great- the staff really hustles. It was a little expensive for what I usually pay for breakfast but walking around the costs on the river were pretty comparable. The only complaint I had was my table was by the door and it was cold!

Good Breakfast Buffet

By mjoytravel |

The wife and I stayed at the hotel this restaurant is in, so it was just downstairs. The buffet wasn't very large but plenty to eat. It had cook to order items included in the price so they didn't stiff you for extras. We ate there everyday for breakfast and it was very good.

Great location, otherwise meh

By KMG414 |

Pros: no wait on a Saturday night for riverside seating. Cons: high price, slow service, basic food.

Excellent Brunch

By Lou2215 |

We had a group of seven people which the restaurant staff accomodated easily. We chose to have the brunch but the waitress had water and coffee on the table quickly. I loved the variety and quality of the foods availablwe including fruits, meusli which was delicious. There was also a great omelette bar with delicious omelettes to order. The cost was reasonable as well which averaged $16.00 per person. Cocktails were also available.

Great Food and Ambience...And service was awesome!

By Josephine1932 |

Was a great experience at The Rivers Edge Cafe & Patio Bar. Ambience was wonderful as was the food. Arrived around 7pm and was immediately seated outside which is what was preferred. The experience was enhanced all the more with the Food Server Ines. She was very attentive without being intrusive, made excellent recommendations, was friendly and very helpful. Will absolutely recommend The Rivers Edge Cafe & Patio Bar - and if Ines is working, friends will know to ask for her to be their server. Thanks!

Favorite place on the San Antonio River Walk

By JP53vintage |

During our many visits to the River Walk, The River’s Edge is our primary destination. Food, drink, ambience are number one. However, our server and now friend Shannon is really the reason for our repetitive visits. Efficient, kind, friendly, Shannon makes the experience all worthwhile. John, Susan...Mesa, Arizona

Miss Sheila

By jeanie t |

The food was fantastic! I cannot tell you how good the brisket nachos are! They fed me and my daughter(also an adult) and we were so full and still couldn’t eat them all. The margaritas are amazing. But the best thing about this place was Sheila!!! She is one of the kindest, friendliest, women I have met! She is a waitress there. Me and my daughter fell in love with this women! You are blessed if you get her to wait on you because you never have to wait on anything! Love her and the food!

Amazing food and service

By Tannerd222 |

Kailyn was our server for this wonderful night of food and service. Everything was fantastic I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Great service

By Lamont |

Claudia our waitress was the best! Her professional presence and courtesy was A+. I would recommend this restaurant.

Delicious food

By Karen C |

I had lunch here and chosen the chicken with mash and vegetables. It's at the bottom of the Hilton Hotel and next to the River Walk. Great service, lovely food, strong margarita, all whilst watching people stroll by in the beautiful weather.

Sunday breakfast! :)

By Javier V |

Ms. Sheila was the best waiter I’ve had since 1995 and I am 25 :) I will definitely come back and ask for her when I come back for vacation. She will be the reason I will come back! :) thank you Ms. Sheila!

Ms. Sheila is awesome!

By blisteralso |

The food was great. The location on the river is very cool and Ms. Sheila was the best! We had the Brisket Nachos and each had a tortilla soup. The margarita's were also top notch.

Happy Hour

By sabatuggy |

With very few options offering happy hour on Friday on the River walk, The Rivers Edge did! Very good drinks and a great view. Service was top notch, would do this again if I’m in town!!!!

Amazing Views

By mlorahga |

Having dinner along the Riverwalk is an absolute must when in San Antonio. The food was very good and the views amazing. Unfortunately, the service was not up to expectations for such a nice restaurant. I was seated immediately, but then had to go back to the hostess to get any wait service. I then got nothing but silent attitude from the wait person who eventually came.

Very disappointing

By Woodridge_Family |

Wife and I were searching for a place for dessert and stopped in at River’s Edge because it had indoor seating available and while I wasn’t expecting anything special I was shocked by how poor our dessert was. We ordered warm apple cobbler and after waiting a half hour we got a cold slice of apple pie which you could tell had just been defrosted - looked very store bought and very overpriced. Almost just ate it but thankfully wife was so disgusted that she told waitress just to take away. Left and found a place which could least attempt to make a decent dessert.

No service

By Steve S |

We into the cafe on a Saturday morning at 8AM. Took a table inside. Only two other people were in there. I was told to take any table. So , I sat down and then waited and waited and waited. Finally, I got up and left and went outside to the patio where I was instantly waited on and served.

Rivers edge breakfast

By Kimberly Z |

We were extremely challenged in finding places to eat due to the pandemic restrictions and limited hours. We walked down to see if breakfast was available at Rivers edge. The service, atmosphere and food was wonderful. Ms Sheila took fabulous care of us and such a joy to have as a server. Thank you for a great experience and a wonderful breakfast. Kimberly Zeller

Great location

By Vinster7 |

Great location, food was pretty good but service left a lot to be desired. Food took forever, server was nice but not very attentive. To top it off, it took forever to get the bill and almost as long to return. They were not busy at all. Many better choices along the walk.

The best for breakfast

By mary l |

My twins (8yo) and I tagged along with my husband on a work trip and so it was just the kids and I exploring for most of the day. We started each day at the River's Edge for breakfast and it was perfect every day. The kids both asked for only strawberry smoothies and according to both of them River's Edge smoothies are the best. I got the buffet one day and ordered off the menu another time. I was very satisfied with everything I ate. The buffet was a little expensive but the variety and quality of the food was worth it. The service was impeccable each time. The only name of our wait staff that I remember is Sheila because she warned us about the birds stealing sugar packets from the table (the birds did steal sugar and the kids were wildly entertained) but everyone who worked there was friendly, helpful and efficient. I'll have breakfast at River's Edge every time I am in San Antonio.

Excellent restaurant & even better service.

By Jeffrey Janis |

I had the fajitas- excellent portion size, tender meat! Yolanda was our bartender and our waitress- she is so nice and attentive and all around a great worker. She made sure every part of our visit here at River’s Edge was wonderful. If you ever come here, definitely ask for her! She’s a riot!

Fun spot with great service !

By Janet M |

This place was fabulous! Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Went with a friend for drinks and appetizers and we weren’t disappointed. We arrived close closing time and our server Ines never once made us feel rushed or like an inconvenience. She was amazing and even helped with suggestions for things to do around the area. Loved the outdoor patio dining. Visit this gem as you won’t be disappointed!!

Great Buffet Breakfadt

By carpitt |

This was a great buffet. The food was excellent. It had any type of Breakfadt food you might want to eat. The food that should be warm was actually warm. That is not always true of buffets. The coffee was wonderful. I would highly reccomend it.

Great for breakfast!

By Chris Wilson |

Good food. Went at 8:00AM. Wanted to sit outside but they were power washing the sidewalks which was incredibly loud so we sat inside, not along the river as planned. Wasn’t quite the same, but the food was good. I had pancakes and they were delicious.

Excellent staff and beautiful view with good food

By 245deboraha |

Had Breakfast and sat on the patio this morning while staying at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio and had the best server ever. Her name was Ms Sheila and she really took care of me. I am a diamond member so I am lucky enough to be able to dine here. I wanted to try a waffle and she suggested the buffet, and I could have a half waffle served by her, and get an omelet. I will be back tomorrow to see her. Pic is half eaten breakfast and the view.

It was ok but not San Antonio

By VWJoseph |

Pros it is in the Hilton very handy if you are staying on property and want to use your daily food and bev credit. That’s about it! Being seated immediately on a Saturday night during busy season should have been a giveaway. Don’t get the queso, just don’t, it was very disappointing. Who uses bell peppers to make queso? Just don’t do it thank me later. Dinner entrees don’t come with sides (rice and beans). For the price comparing to neighboring river walk establishments you would think it was included. The carne asada street tacos were ok but served with pickled cauliflower. I was starting to think I was somewhere up north and not in San Antonio after this dinner.

Breakfast Buffet is wonderful!

By MarleneIllinois |

We’ve experienced a lot of breakfast buffets. This one is the very best we’ve had. Fresh fruit was very fresh and bountiful. Had the usual scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, etc, but also offered bread pudding (incredible!), salmon, cold cuts, parfaits. Carlos was our server and I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job than he did. He made us feel very welcome, explained the buffet, offered items that were not on the buffet (eggs done your way, omelette, etc). He checked back with us just the right amount of times, and brought the check just before we were done. I really appreciate that. We have had experiences elsewhere that we felt like we were being held hostage waiting for the check. Anyway, great buffet, Carlos even greater.

Breakfast and dinner

By John C |

We both breakfast and dinner at this restaurant really good food, it was included in our Hilton membership although we did have to pay for dinner it was cooked well very tasty plenty of options to choose from restaurant looks right onto the Riverwalk. Very peaceful and quiet enjoy people watching while enjoying our meal. Sitting outside is probably the best option. Restaurant has a bar for drinks and dinner options were very tasty also few good items to choose from.

Delicious food and great service!

By AM |

I ordered enchalada and was declious! We sat outside and our view was the river and it felt so relaxing. Me and friend enjoyed it. Joanne, our server was very friendly and treated as so kind. Great service!

Disappointing

I had been looking forward to eating here again, however when we arrived (Sunday afternoon around 2:00) the host was quick to point out that they had a very limited menu and advised that we look it over before being seated (I overheard him telling another couple this same thing as we walked up, they chose to leave). After looking over the menu, which was indeed extremely limited, we decided to just have a drink at the bar, the bar staff seemed put out to have to wait on us, they were prepping for the evening, we had one drink, waited 20 minutes to get our tab closed and left...a disappointing experience all the way around.

Saturday Morning Brunch Buffet was good, great location, ok service.

By AustinPiper |

My wife and I were on a trip to San Antonio for the weekend staying near the Riverwalk. We hit River's Edge Cafe for the Saturday morning brunch buffet. The service was very average, but then again for a buffet all they did is bring our drinks. They had a good buffet spread and a really good omelette bar with a guy making your omelette to order, which was impressive to watch as he made 3 or 4 at a time. The food was average except for the omelettes - which were really good! We sat on the patio, which was really nice early before the Riverwalk got too crowded. The breakfast buffet was not cheap and, as most of them are, I believe was overpriced for what you really get unless you eat a ton of food. You are paying for the location, location, location!

Tasty tasty dishes

By Uncultured Palate |

This was the first place my family went while arriving in SAN Antonio. It was fantastic!! Everyone loved their dishes and we shared around to to spread the joy. Our waitress was amazing and on the ball and we got to sit right next to the river which was fantastic!!

Great breakfast, fair dinner

By Peter K |

We ate here on 5/9/19 (dinner) and 5/10/19 (breakfast). Dinner was fair, the food varied greatly. The chili was very good, the enchiladas were OK, the guacamole and chips were poor, bland guacamole and terrible (hard and worse than store bought) chips. The service was friendly but inattentive, slow and overall poor. Breakfast was great, a wide assortment of foods, very good service and they had bread pudding for breakfast. The omelet station was very good. I suggest eating breakfast here but not dinner.

Solidly Good Meals

By Discover312160 |

There was nothing original or extraordinary at the River's Edge, but everything we had -- and we stayed at the hotel so we were there quite a bit -- was good.

Relaxing

By 891travelling891 |

Very relaxing sitting outside on the patio for breakfast. Limited food choice due to Covid and it was costly.

Everyone Was So Friendly

By toddl15 |

We stayed at the Hotel Palacio del Rio. We had certificates for the brunch at the River’s Edge. It is normally $21.95 per person. Angel was our server. He was so friendly and attentive; he always had a smile. I asked for a glass of water at the end of our meal and he must’ve known that we were leaving, so he went and got a cold bottle of water for me to take with me. The breakfast buffet had lots of options from fresh fruit, muffins and bread’s, eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes and oatmeal. You could get an omelette with your own fresh toppings cooked to order. Pancakes and waffles could be ordered as well. The breakfast bar and the service was amazing.

Amazing management and service at the (hotel) restaurant but not at the Hilton palacio del rio hotel!

By Soiled |

We were in town for a large conference at the convention hall. The restaurant was really busy. The hostess was nice and added us to the wait list. She said it would be a 30 minute wait. She was able to get us a table inside within 20 minutes. Our waiter was amazing. He checked on us often. However, when my order arrived it was the wrong tacos. He apologized and said he would make it right. While I was waiting for my correct tacos to arrive, the manager came over and also apologized and offered me a free appetizer. When my correct order arrived it was very tasty. We would highly recommend this restaurant! Amazing service from the staff and management! We did stay at the Hilton palacio del rio hotel. (this restaurant is part of the hotel). We had too many problems with the hotel management regarding house keeping, check in, security not doing their job (people were having a large party next to our room) and hotel front desk never being able to answer our questions. I gave the hotel restaurant 5 dots on Trip Advisor. Hotel was one for out of 5. Definitely eat at this restaurant but DO NOT stay at the hotel!

Awesome service at breakfast, especially Angel

By GMan5431 |

As a gold Hilton member i get breakfast included, which usually is just continental. Here it was a full breakfast, including made to order omelets and french toast. The service by everyone was amazing, especially by Angel. He's the man! I would specifically promote this hotel based on this experience. Location and hotel itself is great too. G Man

Breakfast was Fantastic!

By Kidsonvacation22 |

Expensive but worth it. The wait staff was amazing. The price was steep for breakfast but the omelet bar and the selection was unquestionably first rate.

Food was really good

By Jules |

I had the bbq tacos and they were great, better than the beef taco. The cheese was also really good with the chips and salsa as our appetizer.

Great Place to hangout !

By cfranz2011 |

Was in San Antonio for a conference at the Hilton. Their Restaurant Rivers Edge was downstairs. That was the place for me. Yoli ( Yolanda ) was behind the bar the days I was there and she was awesome . She is a keeper. Attentive, informative, helpful, extremely nice ! I would go back just to see her. Oh the food is good too !!!!! And the location , right on the riverwalk. Will definitely go back there if I was in town.

Excellent Brunch

By DebS20181313 |

We walked to this place from Riverwalk looking for a breakfast place. Went in and our waitress, Shannon explained all the options on the buffet. Most of our group opted for buffet and a few order off the menu. Everything was excellent and service was stellar. Even though Shannon was very busy we never felt like we were forgotten about. She was always there to check on us. The manager, Norma B. came over and asked if everything was okay and made us feel very welcome even though we were not staying in the hotel. But we will be staying there the next time we visit.

Nice Place!

By Dave C |

First, I'm very grateful they could seat us all on a Saturday without reservations. The food here was quite good; everyone that had the shrimp, al pastor, or asada tacos were quite happy, while the burgers were the best I've had on the river walk. Drinks were quite good, and the deserts were well liked. Our server did the best he could but was a bit outnumbered by the crowd o re-dos on the drinks took time but I doubt if that was any better elsewhere on the river walk. I'd go back. Bill for nine hungry and thirsty adults with multiple drinks and deserts was a modest $340 something with a $60 gratuity added, which was a good value.

Chicken and Chocolate

By Steve A |

Great southern fried chicken and custom built chocolate milkshakes from Norma G and Shannon. Perfect place for a business meeting on the San Antonio river walk underneath the Hilton Palacio Del Rio

Dining and Drinking, People Watching

By Great_Beer_Now |

You don’t have to search for very long to find a place for food and drink on San Antonio’s famed Riverwalk. Food and drink are just steps away and if you’re looking for a satisfying American meal or a cocktail, wine, or beer, then a good option is The River’s Edge Café and Patio Bar. This establishment is located on the Riverwalk, underneath the Hilton Palacio Del Rio hotel, so it’s very convenient to anyone staying in this specific hotel. It has an indoor section that is larger than I expected, plus an outdoor section. I chose the outdoor because I wanted to be near the Riverwalk and people- watch as I dined. But it’s nice to know that such a large interior exists for those days/nights with outdoor dining is less than friendly. River’s Edge Café and Patio Bar serves American food like soups, salads, sandwiches, etc plus enchiladas, grilled plates, and a few other items. There is a brunch and breakfast menu, too, available during specified times of the day. The food is good overall, even if nothing to rave about, and I like the extensive drink menu. They have specialty cocktails, wine, and a decent selection of beer. I would prefer to have more beer options, especially some craft beer options brewed in the San Antoinio area, but they didn’t have any. Still, I was satisfied enough with the choices I was given. I found my dinner enjoyable overall. The only real issue I can think of was the fact that it took the wait staff a little longer than usual to check back on our table. Had they been more attentive there is a good chance we would have ordered another round of drinks. But other than that, I liked my food, drink, and view enough to give the River’s Edge Café and Patio Bar a recommendation overall.

Hidden Restaurant from Main Pack

By pdSixty8 |

In searching for a restaurant without a two hour wait I knew where we could avoid the crowds but followed my wife into the Hilton Palacio del Rio. We navigated down to the River's Edge Café + Patio Bar where few were dining here. The time was around 6:00 PM and during the holidays after Christmas, so was surprised. We even were seated at a table outside next to the River Walk. I got my usual glass of wine and looked over the menu. I ordered the Chicken Tender Basket and my wife got the River’s Edge Mac & Cheese Au Gratin. Service here was a bit slow even with a few dining here, but not a big issue where from not having to wait somewhere else. It is a nice location and great view of barges going by, people watching and holiday lights. Eventually our food arrived and my chicken tenders were good and came with fries and ranch dressing. I was pleased with it. My wife’s macaroni & cheese was also good too. Overall it was very satisfying. It took a long time to pay my check where our waitress disappeared for a while. Perhaps had to go upstairs to the bar to use their system. However it was nice to be able to sit outside and watch it get dark, and enjoy the colorful lights.

Kaelyn!!!

By Cate |

Kaelyn was absolutely fantastic! We started out as a party if 2 and grew to a party if 19. She was so accommodating and very sweet!!!

Peaceful!

By Cyndie S |

If the noise and chaos of a very busy Riverwalk starts to get to you, I recommend the River's Edge Cafe for a calm respite. The staff is wonderful, and you can have a drink or coffee, or something to eat, right on the water, away from all the hustle and bustle.

good buffet breakfast

By Deb B |

Very yummy omelet, made to order. delicious fresh ingredients. lots of variety. sort of expensive at 21.00 but includes drink. service wss excellent, and sitting on the patio at waters edge. worth it!!

Average food, poor service

By Jeff W |

We stopped in for lunch. We got the cheese fries with brisket as an appetizer and split a salad. The brisket was great on top of cheap thin fries and a teeny bit of cheese. The salad was good but the chicken was chopped very small and really wasn't sufficient for the size of the salad. Service was slow although the server was pleasant.

Weekend Breakfast at the River's Edge

By STEVEN T |

My wife and I took a much needed weekend trip to San Antonio. We stayed at the Hilton Palacio del Rio on the Riverwalk and had breakfast at the River's Edge. Ms. Sheila made our visit that much more memorable by providing us with an exceptional level of service to ensure a wonderful and pleasurable dining experience. She was a delightful person and you should make it a point of visiting her at the River's Edge.

Beautiful Scenery on the Riverwalk

By MikeyMackTravels |

Stopped in for a few margaritas, chips and Queso. Located right on the Riverwalk, so great sightseeing (people watching) and watching the boats go past on the river. Margaritas were good. Chips and queso were ok. Service was average.

Wonderful food and service

By Excursion665932 |

Ms. Sheila was so nice and helpful. My stuffed french toast was unreal! Definitely a place to make sure you go to.

So Nice

By Alicia R |

We had a table of 4 we were the only table in there for a late lunch. I heard great reviews on the French Dip, but our waiter Carlos suggested the Filet. We all decided to have the Filet Mignon. It was cooked perfectly and was juicy and tender! Carlos was always there to provide any refills and made great suggestions there was nothing at any point we has to wait for.

Homemade Tortillas

By Bethann711 |

A quieter section of the Riverwalk that served us a great sharing portion of fajitas. Seasoned well, plenty of sides, and to top it off....homemade tortillas.

Ms. Sheila’s customer service

By Olivia H |

Ms. Sheila’s customer service was amazing! Her personality and service definitely makes a difference at the restaurant!

Wonderful Serive

By Joy |

I had a wonderful service there! My server is Ms. Sheila, she done a wonderful job and take a good card of me! I enjoy my dining here!

Enjoy a margarita on the river walk

By Kathy C |

This is nice place to enjoy an adult beverage by the river walk. Nice drink menu and good appetizers.

Amazing Hospitality

By Patrice H |

My family of 3 enjoyed the breakfast bar . Ms. Sheila was so hospitable we felt like she was family. The food was amazing but if you want breakfast, get there before 11am. Lol... First visit we enjoyed lunch. Both meals were economical. This is right along the Riverwalk so the atmosphere inside and seated patio view are fabulous as well.

Ok but not amazing

By Monique J |

So if not for all the amazing food I had prior to coming here in my 4 day visit, I would have rated this better. The problem is the bar is set VERY high along the Riverwalk and this place although very good did not hit the bar. My main issue was the salsa was not very good, I love salsa and usually devour it, had one bite and moved on. The chicken salad was pretty and tasted great but so does the chicken salad at Costco, could be the same recipe....

Service was great even during Alamo bowl crowds

By Anne D |

We arrived while the restaurant was still quiet which was great. Service was good and our waitress took care of us even after it got crazy busy with football fans. Nice lunch.

Friendly staff

By Gary D |

The wait staff was exceptionally friendly. The food was average for the price. There was a decent variety of offerings but much in the high carb high cholesterol variety.

The food was good .....

By Richard E |

but the manager or management on duty (12/28) basically ran off two tables the night we ate there because of the food on the ground. A table of 6 comes in and the wait staff moved to tables together. No big deal. But when they did, under one of the tables there was food / chicken strip /fries etc. Now the food on the floor is visible to all and you think someone will come by and sweep it up right? Nope. So another group comes in,sits down and get their menus and notices the food on the ground and not one waiter and waitress cleaning it up. The manager walked by it numerous times. We ate dinner and left twenty minutes later and guess what, the food was still on the floor. The second party got up about 10 min later and left. This makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. The tortilla soup was good. Not a good look for a Hilton restaurant, especially for the prices charged.

Best in the River

We are locals and bring many people to our beautiful river walk. This place has food with great taste and great service. I will be back.

The River's Edge Cafe and Patio Bar

Solid Breakfast on Riverwalk

By DannyD81 |

Visited River’s Edge for breakfast. Solid spot, but you won’t leave amazed. Ironically, it was the priciest breakfast I had while in San Antonio. Nothing was bad but nothing was great. Mexican hash and avocado toast were both good, but not worth the $18 price point. Service was very good.

Quick Lunch

By RobK1951 |

We were on the riverwalk looking for a place to grab a quick lunch and it started to rain so we popped into the Rivers Edge Cafe which is on the river at the Hilton Palacio del Rio Hotel. There were two of us and one of us had a salad and the other the french dip sandwich. Service was excellent, food was good. Ended up being a good choice

Be prepared to wait a while on disappointing food

By Kelly85 |

We saw the menu online and it looked delicious, plus it was close to our hotel so we gave it a try. We waited outside to be seated for only a couple of minutes. Got a table inside, were greeted fairly quickly, all was well. Someone other than the waitress brought the water, then the waitress brought the beer about 5 minutes later. The we sat and sat and waited to place our order. The manager came over and asked if everything was alright, we told her we just would like to place our dinner order. She took the order and turned it in... then the waitress finally came back (we hadn't even seen her in 30+ minutes) I thought she had left. Our food eventually came, it was underwhelming to say the very least. I order the mac & cheese with grilled chicken and jalapeno bacon (sounds good, right?). I was expecting a grilled chicken breast atop a bed of jalapeno mac & cheese with crispy bacon crumbled on top. I got what looked like some sort of hamburger helper slop. It was edible, not what I was expecting and definitely not worth the $18.75 price tag. It was microwave bacon and chopped up chicken and no jalapeno in sight. Totally disappointed. My husband ordered the 3 course meal with chicken parm. It was edible but the $25 cost was totally ridiculous. The quality of the food and service was not on par with the prices. And on top of all of that, we were there for over an hour and a half. They weren't busy so there's really no excuse for that. At least the chairs are comfortable! Because you're going to be there a while!

Great Service and Food

By Mari |

The staff here are excellent and the food was fabulous! We were always greeted and serviced promptly and graciously! I will be returning here again soon!

Not 4 Star

By Brian C |

I have already mentioned this restaurant though not by name. It is the primary and indeed only in house dining facility in a 4 star hotel; the Hilton Palacio. The food is of very average quality for a hotel of this standing. Probably the only redeeming feature is that it is right on the River Walk.

Great breakfast!

By Andrea L |

We were nervous when we got there because there was a lot of confusion with the hostess. They seemed lost and were having a hard time with names and who was who. But we were seated quickly and very warmly greeted by our waiter who was attentive and friendly. The food was great. The fresh fruit on the buffet was amazing. There were tons of options. Everything was plentiful and fresh. Highly recommend for breakfast.

River's Edge will surprise you; great flavor and quality. Love this place.

By Brian L |

Rivers Edge is great. You don't expect this level of flavor and quality from a restaurant that is in a hotel, but the River's Edge really is good. It surprised us, both in quality anf flavor. Regret that I didn't take any pictures (of the food, I mean, b/c I took lots of pics of us, :-). ) And the mango margarita's are super smooth. I actually like the enchiladas I had here better than all the Mexican restaurants I've been to b/c the sauce was smooth and not harsh like some others. Went with 7 people, everyone really enjoyed it. And the breakfast here... wow.

Find another place!

By ec0balance |

We have eaten at this establishment in years past. We were looking forward going there again after 7 years. It has changed immensely! We just had one of the worst meals we’ve ever eaten, which is saying alot since we travel regularly across the USA iand internationally. The staff are good, considering that they were way understaffed. But the food was, well, awful. Go to another place...its not worth your $$!

Great! Will be back again.

By sara a |

Visited this restaurant not once, but twice!! Service was great. Food was phenomenal, great taste, great presentation. Had albóndigas soup and loved it. Taco were also great . All the food we tried was great. Will be back, this is another great spot with great service.

Service

By Ron G |

While the food was average for the price, the service was outstanding. Our server, Lex, allowed us to stay at our table as long as we wanted to while we sat and took in the view of the Riverwalk.

Fabulous service!

By Maggie B |

My husband and I took our 4 year old granddaughter to San Antonio for the weekend. We stayed at the Hilton Palacio del Rio and ate breakfast every morning at the River's Edge Cafe. Ms. Sheila took care of us and spoiled us rotten. She made our granddaughter feel so special by getting her her favorite strawberry smoothie with a huge sculpted strawberry on top! Thank you Ms. Sheila for loving your job and sharing that love with us!

Conference dinner

By Manny-Kaye G |

We had a large party, but they were able to give us a table by the water. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Perfect place for Mexican-inspired food, people watching, and watching the colorful riverboats float by.

Fantastic Mexican

By Kyle K |

We are staying at the attached Hilton and ate at the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The food, staff, and atmosphere were amazing.

Come for the setting not the tacos

By winedown186 |

This Restaurant is attached to the Hilton and sits on the River Walk. Very nice setting. Nice selection of beers. The menu was interesting, a bit pricey, but it's a hotel on a tourist attraction. A group of us went there based on a recommendation. Eveyone but 1 person in our party of 6 ordered the taco comination platter, Pork, Brisket, & shrimp. The food was warm but the ingredients we only average. The brisket seemed to be a convenience/precooked item which was chewy and real fatty; Shrimp were OK and the pork was average. Service is spotty and the wait was long. A good place for drinks. The sandwiches looked like they would have been a better choice.

Great for breakfast

By windstarID |

The selection and food were good and the service excellent. This place was busy. Given the location - a hotel on the River Walk - prices were where I expected. Birds are aggressive, don't leave your table unattended.

July 7th visit

By Eli |

Ms. Sheila did a wonderful job. We were treated with a happy hour drink although our order was placed a bit late, before being introduced to the desert special. The tuxedo cheesecake was something special. We then finished with mac and cheese paired with some incredible margaritas from the bar. This was a great stop on the San Antonio riverwalk, near the Villita district.

Father’s Day Breakfast

By Lori & Dan |

I took my husband out for Father’s Day breakfast. Was very nice on the Riverwalk. The food was really good & filling. The waiter was a little scarce. They didn’t seem that busy quite yet. We would definitely go back and try again for lunch and or dinner.

The Best Restaurant on the Riverwalk with the Best People!

By Dee |

This was my first time to San Antonio Riverwalk and we decided to eat at The River's Edge Cafe for breakfast, I was drawn by the menu. We were greeted by the kindest people. We ordered breakfast and I asked the server about the annual Christmas parade . I asked for help because I did not know where to buy it and which would be the best place to sit at so the assistant manager Norma Baltierrez was so helpful and kind, she went out of her way to help us. She set aside front row seats for us to purchase so that we can experience the parade front and centered. My husband and I were so grateful and happy. We feel that we have made friends at The River's Edge Cafe and Patio Bar. All the servers, from Angel to Yolanda Granado were so friendly, and kind. I want to thank all the people at The River's Edge Cafe and Patio Bar on making my stay a time I will never forget. If you want to eat great, delicious food, and want to meet warm and friendly people, you must go to The River's Edge Cafe and Patio Bar. P.S. Next time I visit San Antonio Riverwalk I will stay at the Hilton Palacio del Rio the best hotel on the Riverwalk!!

Great Margarita!

By Rasheed M |

We went there a week ago and we had a margarita after having some dinner, really good, so tasty! We are going back.

Bad service

By Lori S |

Very few people in the place so we couldn’t understand why our not so friendly waitress hardly ever checked in on us.

Nice place on the River Walk

By Prawet J |

Looking for decent food and atmosphere at the River Walk (commercial area)? Try The River Edge Cafe. It has the large nice nice setting outdoor seats (and always packed), but the inside at the bar and the dinning rooms always have tables and seats. First, the meal is reasonable price (and good), and the staff are very attentive. I was there and sat at the bar. Perfect. I can see outside but do not have to deal with waiting and foot traffic. Also if you stay at the Hilton, you can take your drink upstairs or to your room. After walking up and down the street, I am glad I stopped here for my dinner.

El PastorTacos, a drink and view of Riverwalk..Not too bad!

By Bill F |

Arrived early for sales mtg, needed quick bite before kick off dinner. Walked outside to Riverwalk of Hilton, and into Rivers Edge. Great choice! El Pastor tacos were excellent!!! Highly recommend and the view ain't bad either

Great food, great views

By LadyPerrin |

Vegetarian friendly food, with a lovely vegetarian burger, definitely recommend as well as the Mexican Chocolate Mousse. Sit outside if possible to enjoy people watching.

Good Food and awesome staff

By Susan P |

This Café was at our Hilton Hotel and the Café is right on the Riverwalk so drinks at night were so relaxing. Then in the mornings we enjoyed an amazing buffet breakfast or if you want there is a menu. The staff were so friendly and took time to chat with us. My husband and I really felt we were talking with old friends when we were talking with Jose Chavez and Shiela. Shout out to both for being great ambassadors for San Antonio.

Part of the Hilton Palacio.

By juliejZ4881KW |

The River's Edge is a great place to get together with inside and outside seating. We had breakfast there every morning. The buffet is large and well stocked. The hot items change daily, which is nice. There is also an omelet station with lots of different choices. The buffet includes juice and coffee. In the evening, it is great to be able to sit outside on the river and people watch. The drinks are large and the service was great. The appetizer/bar food menu could be a bit bigger, but that is minor. Overall, great place to relax after a long day.

Excellent breakfast buffet

By KansasHummingbird |

We had three breakfasts here plus evening wine. The staff were very efficient and the breakfast buffet is great.

It is an okay place to eat

By Edward R |

The food was okay. The service was very slow. The drinks were good. Have been here before a few times when traveling on business. The food and drinks are always good but the speed of service is hit and miss.

By denversergeant |

ONLY outside eating...we were told at the lobby we could have breakfast, however it was only outside eating, without heat. WAY overboard on the Covid fear.

Yikes

By Europeantravelor12 |

The service here was bad. We were shoved into a small corner by the bar for breakfast after beeing told the wait was an hour(and there were tons of open tables). Another couple was seated near us AFTER us, the waiter attended to them but never came to check on us. Sfter saying something to the hostess, the waiter still never came to us. After sitting there for 10 mins waiting we got up and left and took our business elsewhere.

Amazing service

By hamneggs |

The Riverwalk in San Antonio Texas is something else but the service from Ms Sheila at the Rivers Edge Cafe and Patio bar was totally amazing. She talked us through the drinks menu and recommended what to c see and do in the area. She is a credit to her employer so pleasant and helpful.

Expected Hilton, Experienced Mediocrity

By Shizuka |

Why wife and newly minted Airman First Class Daughter were looking for a nice celebratory dinner on the Riverwalk. It was a crowded evening with the Armed Forces Day River Parade, and the restaurants were busy. We selected the River’s Edge Cafe because of the Hilton reputation, slightly less crowd and good view of the river even inside (the humidity was very high and we wanted to be comfortable). We were seated quickly; were served some water and when we were ready, placed our order. The food took an inordinate amount of time to be served. While we waited a small group sat down near us, and eventually left because they were tired of waiting to place their order. I noticed that very little food came out of the kitchen for over 20 minutes. We were time limited as we had a curfew for our daughter, and expressed this time requirement (needed to be out in an hour), and were told that would not be a problem. Eventually, our meal came out and the order was fouled up, terribly. But, we were out of time so took what was served. The food was average flavor, but didn’t live up to our expectations of Hilton or as described in the menu. We could have had better in a chain restaurant. We expressed our disappointment to the Maitre D’; he was very concerned and made a much appreciated discount to our bill. Something went wrong in the kitchen; Hilton should aim to fix that and meet the expectation of their brand.

Paper Straws

By Yorlive |

Stopped here for lunch. The food was good, if you want something decent other than Mexican food on the Riverwalk. The service was okay. They use paper straws if you’re into that.

Just not good enough food for the price

By snowfall1 |

Ate here twice, once in August for lunch and one in November. Just needed a stop on the Riverwalk to pass some time before evening flights out of San Antonio. Most recently had the club sandwhich ( the ingredients were so cold inside the sandwich it almost seemed like they were preassembled) and a chicken salad dish of sorts. The first trip I had a salad that was not memorable for the price. It is a nice spot to sit outside when the weather is conducive to that, and watch the boats go by, but next trip we will be checking out some of the neighboring restaurants. Good french fries, both sweet or regular, but that is about it.

Fantastic location, but not much more

By Cadbanker |

Stopped at the Rivers Edge after a morning of travel. Service seemed somewhat disinterested even though it wasn’t particularly busy. Food was okay, but nothing special. Location is great for people watching as you are right across the river from a boat loading area.

Enjoyable view of the river

By GGMA2 |

The first morning we went for breakfast, the cafe was pretty chaotic...food and service was good. The second morning was a peaceful experience...once again, food and service was good.

Go see for yourself.

By R.M. A |

My wife & I stopped for lunch while doing the Riverwalk. Food was great - burger, quesedilla, margarita & coffee. But our server, Shannon, was special. Friendly, knowledgeable & caring. She was outstanding! Manager, Norma B. suggested we stay at the Hilton the next time we visit San Antonio & we will certainly consider it, given the service we received at the River's Edge. Go see for yourself.

Christmas Eve Dinner

By Linda M |

Decided to try this place out because the steak house we wanted to go to had a two hour wait. The wait time was about 10 minutes here and the staff were friendly and made sure we were good with what we had. Our party order the filet mignon and salmon. The filet mignon were cooked to our liking and came with mashed potatoes and vegetables and everything tasted amazing. The salmon I did not taste but the person who ordered it said it tasted good. We were all very satisfied with the dinner and happy that our Christmas Eve dinner wasn’t rush and everything was put together beautifully and tasted amazing.

Street tacos

By Leslie J |

Visited the first time a year ago and came back to see if the tacos were as good as I remember. They were. I also enjoyed the tortilla soup. I don't recommend the margaritas. The price does not justify the quality. Sit on the patio, it is wonderful.

Excellent Buffet Breakfast

By Jimmy |

The River's Edge Cafe is located at the Hilton Hotel. We found this Cafe for breakfast two mornings. The River Walk setting was very tranquil in the morning and outside seating was excellent. About 9AM, the Go Rio Boat rides open a boat loading station across the River Walk. The breakfast buffet offers a variety of breakfast options to include an omelette station. Our waiter, Carlos, was very personable and attentive. So much so we returned five days later to again enjoy the great breakfast and ambiance. Thanks Carlos! You're a great asset to the Hilton

Breakfast at Hotel

By NurseMD |

The location is quite exquisite. From our hotel, straight to the river walk...breakfast across from a Riverwalk boat cruise entrance. The service from our waitress was wonderful - watching other staff, they seemed to have a rougher morning. I loved the refills on the juice. The bacon was perfect crispy. My pumpkin pancakes were a bit disappointing, but the fruit cup was fresh and great size. Will use this cafe again.

Delicious brunch here

I was here for meetings and only ate breakfast here twice, but it was delicious. The servers were great---very helpful and friendly. Their was a wide variety of food, and the buffet price includes drinks.

Disappointing Father's Day breakfast / brunch

By chip H |

We’re lifelong San Antonio residents and visited the Hilton Palacio del Rio for a Father’s Day breakfast at River’s Edge Café. Big mistake. The front entrance is a construction nightmare, and valet charged us $60 for one hour just to eat. The omelet bar was basic, not what’s advertised online. Worst of all — pigeons swooped in and stole food off our table the moment we stepped away. For the price and hassle, you’re better off anywhere else downtown. Try the Fairmont instead — easier parking and a better overall experience.

Interesting food and great service too.

A great place for a dinner and its place on the River Walk makes for a great location. You could order anythingon the menu and find it to be of great tasting. Attention to our needs made this a place kinka special in our minds and we wouold have returned but we were leaving the next day. Then too there a lot of good places, but this one really sticks in our minds.

Don’t waste ur time or money!

Had to move to 3 different tables to find a table that wasn’t falling down, or bird poop wasn’t on the table. Outdoor ceiling fans were somewhat tore up. Ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Chicken was not fully cooked, and I told the waitress it wasn’t. She never apologized or anything. Ordered a peach margarita with sugar on the rim, got salt. We ordered dessert to go, but I didn’t even get the cheesecake that I ordered. It took a long time to get our food. And we were the only table that was occupied the whole time we were there. And these things I’ve told you about is why.

On the bottom floor of the Hilton-river walk frontage

By MickyO |

While staying at the Hilton, I had breakfast each morning in the restaurant right on the river walk. The buffet was large and varied with an omelet station where you could also pancakes and waffles. Everything was fresh and delicious. The sweet rolls and muffins were tasty. We ate dinner there one night. The food came out fast and was just what you expect in a hotel restaurant. Typical Tex-mex dishes and more. The space is a bit tight so you might have to wait a minute or two. Nice staff

A pleasant evening

We enjoyed sitting outdoors by the river and had a very good meal. The RiverCity fajita was tasty and a large enough portion that it could easily be shared. When we couldn't decide between a couple of the wines, the staff was happy to bring us out some samples to taste. Our waitress, Seaslie, was so gracious and professional. Definitely a good pick !

Excellent spot to enjoy good food and drinks

By Mads |

I visited while in San Antonio while walking along the river walk. Ms. Sheila served us and was wonderful and treated us like family. I would highly recommend stopping by to cool off from the blazing hot to enjoy delicious food and drinks. They have a happy hour from 12-6. I order the house margarita and it was very tasty. We also ordered the rivers edge flatbread, rivers edge Mac and cheese au gratin, and desserts. All were superb. Great experience overall. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is in a nice location down by the riverwalk. The food is good, it gets the job done. I had the enchiladas which were ok, the chips and guacamole was very good.
