Have a great dinner during Thanksgiving week before the Blackhawks hockey game I had chicken Parm it was to die for my daughter had a pasta that she also loved the garlic bread was delicious the salad excellent and fresh we sat In the covered patio they had heat in when it started to rain we did get dripped on a little it made it just more of an adventure it was a great meal service was good and we were off to the hockey game

Loved the atmosphere...our group was seated downstairs in the bar area. Had an "Old Chicago" feel to it. I had the Pappardelle Bolognese...I was a little disappointed in the flavor of the sauce but it was very meaty, and the pasta was delicious and perfectly cooked. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal.

When a restaurant can't deliver on basic food value there is a serious problem. Rosebud's shrimp scampi looks like no recognizable version of that dish: for $25 there are 3 pieces of shrimp massively coated in some kind of egg breading, like tempura, stuck into very oily garlic bread. The Chicken Vesuvio, one of my favorite dishes in general, features chicken scallopini-cut breast meat cooked in the sauce, meaning that it was dry, tough, and rubbery. These are not technically difficult dishes to deliver! The shocking lack of quality and attention to basic details made this meal a pricey mistake. I had visited Rosebud years back and had an affectionate memory of the place: wasn't expecting anything fancy, just a good meal. What a shame. Oh, and the tiramisu, ugh.

Continuing a family tradition, our family will spend part of a weekend on the Mag Mile in Chicago. My son and I will watch bowl games in the hotel room until the ladies are done shopping, then we'll all meet at Rosebud on Rush. Some of our favorites are Veal Parmigiana, caprese with roasted veggies, and clam linguini, Service is top notch, bread is always fresh, wine list is extensive. I love the sausage and peppers appetizer.

We were able to walk into Rosebud on Rush for breakfast. It was a great experience! The restaurant has been visited by many famous people. The breakfast was excellent. We had our main waiter, and two others who made sure everything was right. I definitely would return !

The dinner show we were to attend had been cancelled, not knowing where to eat we remembered passing this restaurant, lucky our previous reservation had been cancelled or we would not have found this gem. Entering it’s like going back in time in a stylish manner, the staff are friendly and polite, the food superb portion size huge. Take s tip if you are unsure where to eat go here

I can't even describe in words how good this Italian Restaurant was. We had the best service from the bartender & server in the downstairs area. We never needed anything. Our server anticipated our every need. The food was old Italian the only thing that would have been better is family style. So, we could taste everything. Cavatelli Arrabbiata - homemade pasta & sauce. The sauce was rich, thick and just the right amount of heat. Chilean Sea Bass - thick, huge piece of perfectly cooked fish on a bed of spinach with a lemon sauce. Veal Milanese - lightly breaded perfectly cooked huge piece of veal piled high with an arugula salad. Chopped salad - corn, avocado, beets, pepper, carrots Every meal was superb!! Service EXCELLENT!! This will be a must every visit to Chicago.

Service was great. We sat outside in the covered patio. It was cute with lights. The food I would say is 3 1/2 it just didn’t seem Authentic Italian.

Delicious authentic Italian food. Perfect sauces and the freshest noodles that were rich and silky. The waiter was helpful with menu and friendly. mesuggestions,

The atmosphere is fun, waiters are great, and food is terrific. This last visit we met up with friends from DC who were also attending the meetings we were attending in town. They had asked the night before, "We would like some excellent Italian food." I knew just the place. Have been coming to this restaurant for 2 decades--often just before the opera at the divine Chicago Lyric. However, as we age and hearing aids are a necessity, we noticed the noise level a wee bit more than usual. Who cares--the food is great.

Very good food. Friendly staff and good service. We came there asking for table for 2. We had to wait for 20 minutes, totally worth the wait.

Visited here during my first trip to Chicago. Excellent cuisine, friendly service and quaint atmosphere.

We travel to Chicago about once a year and the meal we look forward to the most is our Italian dinner at Rosebud on Rush. Old school Chicago Italian food and it is the best. Excellent service and outstanding ambiance. This place is a must!

This is an excellent restaurant for traditional Chicago Italian food. The food is great, service is excellent and portions are generous. Just be sure to make reservations as this place really fills up in the evening.

My family celebrated the holidays with a dinner and overnight in Chicago. Rosebud is our favorite Italian! I wish they had a Wisconsin location. We had an excellent dinner. The spicy calamari was fabulous! Chicken parm was delish as usual. Service is unmatched. We love visiting and we will be back!

Five of us went to Rosebud on Rush for lunch. Since none of us can make a decision, there was a lot of discussion about where we were going to eat in the restaurant. The staff was unbelievably patient with us going up and down the stairs, trying to reach an agreement. We finally settled upstairs on the patio near the windows. The charming server suggested we try the Eggplant Stack, so three of us chose that and the other two had Chicken Marsala. The portions were big enough that we all took home lunch for the next day. Two of the group were celebrating birthdays and they were treated to the most delicious chocolate mousse cake. The entire staff was attentive and kind; the food was wonderful. The breadsticks were addictive!

Very good food, they have a tent set up with heaters to eat in which was nice since it was a warm 19 degrees outside today!

Elegant service, wide choices of food and wine. Even though we were a large group, they never missed a thing for anyone were nearly invisible with their service. Excellent. Don't go here if you are in a rush. The place, the food, and the service is to be savored.

It may not be the premiere Italian restaurant in the area, but they execute everything well - from the waiters to the menu. The dining room is very dimly lit, which creates a warm, cozy environment. While it may not be an absolute favorite, we have no regrets and would visit again.

Well known star studded restaurant in downtown. We ate off the brunch menu on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. The outside area was great and the weather was beautiful. Service was very professional with a very helpful staff. I had the famous square pasta with marinara sauce and it was cooked perfectly al dente and the marinara was hot and just the correct tang. My wife and our friends had the Beet Salad that included two kinds of beets with feta. Next time we are in Chicago we will for sure go back to Rosebud's on Rush.

We sat outside for dinner on a pleasant June day and the scene on a Friday night could not be more fun. Between this restaurant's outside diners, the Tavern On Rush diners next door, and the people just walking by, the show could not have been better. Chicagoans (and tourists like us) clearly are aching to get out and resume normal life post-COVID, and Rush Street was hopping. While the Rush Street scene is probably the biggest reason to come, the food is solid and of good value. I had the veal, which I often do at Italian restaurants, and in fact they had 4 or 5 veal choices. Others in our group, including two vegetarians, found what they wanted as well. Our server was clearly new, and overall the restaurant was clearly stretched, but our service held up fine on a very busy night.

What a great place! Active with families, couples, solos & everything in between. It was so busy I was taken to the bar downstairs (as a walk-in about 11:30), that was full too. John, the bartender, was on the spot. A Peroni & SW Chorizo Breakfast Burrito; turned onto 2 Peronis. Took half the meal to go (huge portion). Baby potatoes were awesome. Great stop for lunch or brunch in Near Northside. Enjoy!

When we arrived for an early dinner (5:30pm) we were seated immediately. The restaurant was decorated so nicely for Christmas. I had the spaghetti with two giant meatballs. Wonderful meal.

We love this restaurant! The food is delicious, and the portions are huge--so big that we say every time that we'll share an entree. But we never do. There are too many choices, and they're all good!

Rosebud was recommended to us and was convenient to our hotel. We did not have a reservation but went quite early since we had skipped lunch and got a table on the patio. As Chicago revs back up post-pandemic I doubt that will be possible. I got the baked cavatelli and a dinner salad. It was excellent and the portions are enormous. One serving would be enough for two hungry people. Even the dinner salad was massive. Fellow diners seemed to be a mix of locals and travelers. The bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was fresh, warm and crusty. My only suggestion is that if requesting an outdoor table, try for one close to the street rather than the building because the slant of the sidewalk tilts the table and chairs awkwardly and led to one basket of bread sliding right off the table.

This place was right across from our hotel so we thought would give it a try. Ended up eating a couple of times there as the food is superb! Always busy and noisy but don’t let that put you off. Service was always excellent and each dish we had was very tasty

Very friendly and attentive with the Service. The food is nice and rich but even if it is not very well everyone's attention makes an experience of the place.

On my wife’s birthday, what should have been the culmination of a great trip was without a doubt the low point of it. Got seated 40 minutes after our reservation time, while others with the same reservation time arriving after us were seated before. Twice was asked how it’s going, when indicated “not good” both times the reply was “well, it wasn’t me”. The place was so loud you couldn’t carry on a conversation and I’m sure there was a fire code violation with the number of people they had packed in there. Wait staff and food wasn’t bad, and they tried to make amends with comp’d apps and desert but it did not salvage a ruined birthday dinner. The management should be embarrassed and the owner should be speaking with the management...If you are looking in the area I would instead recommend Harry Caray’s steakhouse. It was very good, very professional and very well run.

We seem to frequent this place when we are in Chicago because the food and service is top notch. the Veal Parmigiana is amazing.

What can I say about Rosebud. Been going here for years and never been disappointed. Waiting on the rest of our party to arrive so 4 of us went here for lunch. As usual service was excellent, food is great and just a favorite gem of Chicago. We were on our way to get deep dish when I altered the plan. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their lunch. Keep up the excellent work!

Wish they had a larger breakfast menu. I had cancer and now dealing with a tiny stomach… eating 3 ounces max. Asking for assistance is difficult at best and the smallest they offer is three eggs. I asked if they have a children’s menu, nope. The waiter was not helpful, and even though we were dining with other adults who know this plight in my life ( i am 125 pounds now and truly this hasn’t beeen easy) i hate wasting food. The choices were difficult. I left the restaurant with basically eating four bites. The plate looked as though nothing was eaten. A note to the owners, could you please, and i am not trying to be mean, try to be understanding for people like me. We had been there the day before to enjoy drinks and your beautiful restaurant before a wedding. This was disappointing to see that a server couldn’t understand my plight when I explained my situation.

Food was amazing, on entering it looks to be an old bar (which I love) but seating available in a room behind bar, friendly staff, amazing food and save plenty of room for dessert....portions are LARGE!!

While walking downtown we decided to look for a breakfast place. Ran ontonthosnplace as we saw line form outside. They has a nice little Sunday brunch. What put the.meal over the top was I ordered a meatball with my breakfast. It was excellent and the sauce was the best I have every had and I am a ny Italian. Can't wait to go back for dinner.

Great place to get a wonderful lunch or dinner. Staff is very friendly and the decor is pretty cool. It is so great to be able to eat outside when the weather allows...but if not, inside is good, too! The menu is really great and everything you order will be awesome.

First visit in about 25 years as we don’t go to Chicago all that often. It was as good as remembered. Super eggplant and chicken parmigiana. Also top flight carbonara. Excellent chocolate cake for dessert. Wines are affordable and service was outstanding.

I arrived for lunch and all tables were empty. We were directed to a table in a bad location, and I politely asked if we could please be seated in any other table. The host rudely replied with a blunt ‘NO’. I actually thought he was joking, given his surprising rudeness. But he wasn’t. I asked ‘why not?’, and He told me that was because we were two and all other tables were for four people. I actually understand that point, but not in a a totally empty restaurant. And, even if he was right, his answer was unacceptable. I mentioned ‘but all ya led are empty’, ro which he replied ‘what if you spend hours in here and a lot of people come? What Am I suppose to do?’. Given the tone, ended up leaving and eating elsewhere, which was a shame as I heard good things about the place. It’s sad to see that in Covid times, when restaurants are struggling, some staff still prefer to act up and disrespect the honest work of the rest of them team who need our business.

Best cannoli ever and the service was superb. The advice we got from the bartender was right on the money regarding portions size

This was the first time my wife and I ate at this restaurant in close to 30 years! The fact that it is still around says a lot. My family of four shared a salad, two entrees and two deserts. The portions were huge and the food was delicious. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. This was the perfect restaurant within walking distance of our hotel for us all to enjoy after a long road trip.

Visited here twice with my husband and I have to say the service and food was fantastic! We were made to feel very welcome. The owner/manager went out of his way to talk to us and even recommended a great pizza place a little off the beaten track so not dominated tourists and was mainly somewhere locals hung out. It was called pizanos (reviewed separately). I would definitely recommend Rosebud 🌹and look forward to visiting again in the future!

I haven't been to Rosebud on Rush for quite some time, and not long ago being in this area, I decided to have lunch in this restaurant. I was seated right away, choosing the table in the covered seating area outdoors. The restaurant specializes in the Italian cuisine, the menu gives many choices of nice dishes. My order was custom made, since I requested Penne with Bolognese. Prior to that I had Minestrone soup, the latter was done not the way I expected: potatoes were dissolved in the soup, that became like cream soup, plus (minus, rather) minestrone was absolutely saltless. The main course was excellent: Pasta Bolognese was delicious, and the portion was more than generous. The service was very good: a young lady server was genuinely friendly, very polite and accommodating. The ambiance in Rosebud at that lunch hour was quite busy, but seating in a covered outdoor area and enjoying the main course and also the views of the city, turned out to be pleasant, after all. The server decided to adjust the bill, and I also wasn't charged for the pot of tea I had after this hefty meal. Thanks for lunch, I plan to be back to Rosebud on Rush -- this very famous and popular restaurant in an old historic building, located in the entertainment neighborhood, just a few minutes walk from N Michigan Avenue.

My colleagues went to downtown Chicago near the Miracle Mile for dinner on a Tuesday night. This restaurant came highly recommended as authentic Italian cuisine and an authentic Italian-style dining experience. They weren't wrong. The restaurant wasn't packed but it was busy. It was noisy to the point that we didn't know there was music playing until most of the other tables left. That wasn't a bad thing and 7 of us certainly added to it. The dining room is somewhat dark with low ceilings and heavy wood posts. All the servers were men, besides the sommelier. In other words, the quintessential Italian restaurant feel. Our waiter was outstanding! Timing was impeccable, his energy was infectious, and his style was both professional and personal. He was very helpful with making order decisions, including telling us that we were ordering too many desserts for our party size! Who does that! All seven of us ordered different entrees and not one of us was disappointed. Most raved about their entree. I had a Polenta Meatball with Italian sausage on the side. A really great Marinara made it special. The cheesecake and Tiramisu Rosebud has I believe they said 4 restaurants in the Chicago area. If they're quality and ambiance is consistent with the one on Rush, you cannot go wrong with this choice.

We picked this restaurant from one of a handful that were open for Christmas Day. I am gluten- and dairy-free and picked the orecchiette with Italian sausage and broccolini. They substituted a gluten-free ziti. It was made with olive oil and garlic and it was fantastic. The family thoroughly enjoyed the fresh crusty bread and baked clams. Other dishes ordered were the chicken Milanese, spaghetti and meatballs (2 giant ones) and the linguine with white clam sauce. Servings were very generous - with a couple of salads, one pasta would definitely serve two. Service was spot on.

Our food was great. We got a variety of things from specials, fish and classic pasta dishes. They were all very large portions and tasted awesome. The staff both at the downstairs bar and in the dinning room were friendly and fast. Would definitely recommend eating here again.

Very nice/accommodating staff. Arrived early for our reservation but we were seated immediately. The big problem is, unfortunately, the food. The bread served was way below par for an Italian restaurant. Then the real disappointment was our entrees. They were so salty that I could only eat half my meal. My pasta was also pasty and not very palatable. Then we waited way beyond a reasonable time for our check and we needed to request our bill. We were glad to exit the establishment.

We went there just b4 Marathon and we have absolutely loved it. The pasta is excellent it actually swimming in sauce, delicious!

This place was recommended to me by a local at a business conference. Great atmosphere and menu! Sit outside and enjoy the city. Seafood salad was great and just what I needed after heavy Chicago style pizza the night before. 🙂

Staff was attentive and food was amazing!! Wow! I cannot wait to go back. Best Italian we have had. Tiramisu was delicious and huge portion.

Location: 5/5 (it’s mag mile) Food:1/5 (commoditized store bought sauce and pasta masquerading as “authentic Italian”). Cost: 2/5 ($90 for 2; no drinks no dessert)

Ordered the sea bass and chicken Parmesan, both amazing. Took half of the chicken with me since the serving was so large. Enjoyed craft cocktails as well.

Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. We had the baked ziti..which was large enough to share! The chicken piccata with the linguini..yum! Fettuccine Alfredo had a great flavor as well. Our drinks were always full and plates were cleared as soon as they needed to be. We will definitely return!

After enjoying a day in Chicago on the Magnificent Mile, we ended the day at Rosebuds on Rush for a great Italian dinner.

We had Sunday Brunch on the patio in July, and it was an amazing experience. The patio was beautiful and the service and food was top notch.

Had brunch in here, was sat on the patio which had an igloo like covering. Very busy restaurant, more interested in getting you in and out for sheer volume. Food was ok, prices high for what you get.

We went for a birthday celebration, reservations at 5 p.m. It was perfect - they sat us downstairs in a perfect little section near windows. The food was fantastic!! My sister had the chicken parm - WOW!! The baked ziti was also fantastic. Meatballs the size of a fist. We had three little ones and they were very accommodating/ welcoming to them.

We went for dinner our first night in Chicago with our teenagers. The waitstaff was great. First- our water was never empty which is a big thumbs up for us. Second- our waiter explained the menu and helped us to order enough food to get the full experience, not wasteful. We had the bruschetta (I liked that there were olives in it), 2 kids got fettuccini Alfredo, my husband and son split the chicken parm, I had the chopped salad with chicken and couldn’t finish it. Two desserts split among 5 was plenty too. Overall we left full and happy with our experience.

Just in town for the weekend. Left the kids at home with grandma :)) Wife and I had a wonderful experience. Food was terrific, server was outstanding and we have a great date night!!! Thank you!!! We will be back in a few weeks.

We chose to sit in the heated patio area. It was perfect and warm n a chilly spring day. Our server, Alejandro, was stellar. He was gracious and helpful. The food service was fast, but we did not feel rushed. We were there for 1.5 hours. The portions were huge. Two of us shared a salad and we each had an entree and a dessert. We finished just under half of the food that was served. The leftovers will make about two small meals for each of us. We had the baked cavatelli and the baked ziti, antipasto salad, tiramisu, and Godiva chocolate mousse cake. The tiramisu was light on the espresso, but the chocolate cake was fantastic!

The server was prompt and attentive. Ordered the carbonara with spaghetti instead of tortellini. Very large portions!!! Very good. I like the veal parmigiana my friend ordered more than mine. The veal took up the entire plate. Delicious!!! Make sure to order the Spumoni ice cream ball dipped in chocolate, topped with cream, and cherry sauce abs cut in half to share. Oh so good!!

An Italian institution on Rush St in Chicago. Great food selection, with lots of wine to match. Service staff are friendly and have been around for a long time and happily sharing their favorite dishes. Love the sausage and green peppers.

Old school Italian food. Would bring friends here. Try the veal parmasian. excellent presentation. No frills.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Service was great. Will definitely be back! 2nd time dining here and it’s just as good as the first time.

This place was recommended by a friend and was amazing! A casual, friendly atmosphere. Delicious food, cocktails and wine. The staff treated us so well. Definitely recommend!

This is by far the best location to eat; the cuisine is of the highest quality, and the customer service is outstanding. 100 percent of the time, I would recommend it to every single person on the planet.

We had a fine lunch on a weekday. It was a bit windy so we requested indoor seating. Once in the dining room, where we were the only customers, we found the music so loud that we couldn't hear each other. The staff couldn't or wouldn't, so we went back outside and were seated in a surprisingly sheltered and cozy corner. Next: ordering the wine. They had one of our favorites at a reasonable price. Next: ordering the food. My spouse is always happy with lasagna. I saw veal on the menu. I saw whitefish Piccata on the menu. I asked if the chef were willing to do veal Picatta and he was willing. Finally: the dining. The veal was superb. Beautifully tender. The wine was great. Chef and server were great. Table was great. Lasagna was great. Overall, a happy experience. Loved the flexibility of the chef.

We needed to eat spur of the moment before a show and found this thru Trip Advisor and the reviews were spot on. We walked in at 6 p.m. with no reservation and the place was packed. But "no problem" says the font desk we will seat you in a few moments. The entire staff were so friendly and helpful. We had the fried calamari which was very tender and marinara amazing, New York Strip with marsala mushroom sauce which was amazing in flavor and very tender and the seafood pasta special which was fall out of the seat delicious. Just a great all around meal with a friendly staff to make the food even better.

We shared a few appetizers and small dishes and had a lot of fun sharing the good tastes. Definitely try the calamari ..... no rings but small arms.

Great for lunch or dinner. Like sitting outside. Very good service. Large variety but liked lunch specials. Near Peninsula and Park Hyatt.

The service and food is top notch! Exactly what I expect and always get here! I’ve only been twice so I was nervous thinking maybe it was a fluke I had such a great experience, nope they did it again! We had bruschetta to die for, chicken Parmesan is massive could feed 4 ppl! We were warned it was large everyone loved it. I ordered Tortellini Carbonara it was so good, very rich and creamy. The service quick, spot on and atmosphere was clean, dim lit, relaxing and yet still light and a bit casual.

The restaurant states that substantial portions are served and this is true. Sharing would be recommended. The quality of the food is outstanding. We shared an eggplant stack for an appetizer and the eggplant was perfectly crisp nestled between gooey mozzarella and arugula salad. It was a tower and could have served for a full dinner. We split the special of the night, a seabass fillet that was crisp on the outside and meltingly tender on the inside. Our host ordered the chocolate cake for dessert. Guest asked if they could take pictures of it as it was so tall! I was also excellent and fortunately, our host could take it home as it was too much for three adults. I know it is a Chicago gem and we enjoyed our visit.

We were blown away by this gem of a restaurant. I had coworkers that went here two weeks prior recommend it and it did not disappoint. The lobster is lightly fried and full of flavor and the tortellini carbonara (add ground sausage) was to die for. Definitely recommend this if you want authentic Italian food!

We heard about this restaurant so we walked from our hotel "The Conrad" which was awesome please read that review. When you walk into the restaurant you go right and walk down a narrow stairway and your in a basement but very quaint. We had the same waitress both times (Dinner/Lunch) We ordered the first time Veal Saltimbocca and Veal Marsala. OMG the Veal Marsala was amazing one of the best I ever had. We had some wine and the HOT bread out of the oven was delicious with olive oil. Desert was pretty good but keep room for the main entrée. Lunch was good we had fried calamari it was cut too thick but the white wine garlic sauce that comes with it was GREAT. We ordered Veal parmesan and Eggplant parmesan. Both very very good. Didn't get desert for lunch but both meals very good and price was very reasonable. Portions where huge so you can share for sure.

The best Italian in Chicago!! We made reservations for our anniversary and Rosebud’s did not disappoint. We ordered chicken parmesan and ribbon bolognese and both were delicious! The portions were huge! We will definitely go back when we visit Chicago again! The location was safe too. Restaurant is casual and kid friendly.

Always excellent quality. I often challenge them, not ordering from menu, but asking for a few special things I feel like. They always produce. I like that place. True italien feel, great food, good fun. Extremely reliable. Always.

We came here for our 50th Anniversary. I took the Chicken and my husband the Veal dishes. ordered a salad that was really good. The food is hot and good could not of been any better. You get a lot of food and for what you get the price is good. It was truly fantastic. Gave a little desert, and even on our way out the manager sang to us Happy Anniversary song.

Very good food, very good service. Not inexpensive. Nice location, classy. Mgmt came by to check on food. Good for early dinner.

My family and I visited this restaurant randomly as we were all hungry and this was the first place we saw. And I'm so glad we did! We sat in their outside tent area which was kind of awkward because the ground was uneven but other than that there was nothing I could say bad about the actual restaurant! I believe this restaurant takes reservations but we got lucky and got to eat here. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan which was HUGE and very tasty. As well everyone was nice and had on face masks. Definitely a great experience!

I have been here a few times and it never disappoints. This time we came for a late lunch and the place was pretty quiet. Service was quick--but not rushed. Everything we had was delicious and the portion sizes are ample. I had the Eggplant Parmesan and it was excellent! The atmosphere is also great; cozy with a touch of a rat pack feeling. I keep expecting old blues to walk in at any time. Highly recommend!

We had a large group of 9, along with 2 toddlers in high chairs. Went to dinner fairly early (5pm). Service exceptional- always filling our waters, getting more bread, manager/owner (?) coming often to check how things were going. He even serenaded my sister singing happy birthday (beautiful voice!)! Food was delicious, ambiance great. Highly recommend. I read the other reviews with saying service was bad, but we went at a quieter time- so I am sure it gets super busy later on the evening. Guess just remember that when making your reservations!

Went for a family dinner here and regretted it. The noise from a large group completely overwhelmed the room,so much so, that we left as soon as we ate our main. Oh did I say about the waiting time for our food, 1 hour 20 min and even then, some of it was wrong. Our server was lovely and apologised for the wait, it wasn't her fault. The Manager completely dismissed our comments as we left. Worst dining experience in our visit to Chicago. Only positive was, the food was nice.

Our concierge at Peninsula Sulla got us a reservation here. We got a very nice location on the second floor. The ambience was beautiful. My spouse had the Lasagna and I had the chicken Frances’s. Both were incredibly flavorful. The tiramisu was so good. I suggest going when you are extremely hungry as the portions are huge! Our waiter was awesome, as was the hostess. Thank you Rosebud, we will be back!

We got seated in the enclosed porch. The table reminded me of a flimsy deck set. Our reservation was at 7 pm. It was medium busy. Our waiter was taking pretty long between visits back to our table. Our wine was fine, our appetizers were good, but our dinners were just “ok.” Only one out of five people at our table said theirs was excellent. My ravioli was not hot; it actually had a cold corner. To rap up the rating of this restaurant: For $300, everything should be excellent and it was “just ok.” I left kind of disappointed.

Outstanding Italian food. I met a colleague while attending a conference in Chicago. We were looking for a good place to eat near our hotel and this had a table available on a busy Sat night so we decided to give it a shot. The portions are enormous so come hungry or share. We ended up sharing the house salad which was excellent and I had the veal Braciola which was amazing. Wait staff were very attentive and friendly. Would come back here again next time I’m in Chicago.

The first time I tried Rosebud was earlier this year in May on a girls trip with my daughters and sister. We absolutely loved everything then, so I brought my husband here for brunch this past weekend since we were back in Chicago for a business trip. I loved it just as much! The bananas foster French toast is not be missed! The pancakes were deliciously light and fluffy, and the mimosa was the perfect Our server was attentive and timely. Great job, Rosebud! I will definitely be back!

We're back in the Windy City visiting family and spotted a very packed Rosebud. Packed restaurants usually means good food so we looked at the posted menu on the street and decided to give it a try. My wife and I both ordered from the daily special menu. She ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and I had the Skirt Steak Sandwich with caramelized onions and cheese. My sandwich was excellent however I've got to say her Bolognese was the best I've ever tasted! Service was excellent. Great wine and beer selection. Hats off to Rosebud on Rush and the staff that makes this place special! See you next year!

The Pros We made a reservation well ahead of time and had requested a quiet spot as we were celebrating a special family occasion. We received a very nice table in an alcove and appreciated it as the restaurant was packed and VERY loud in the main room. Food was good and service was attentive, sometimes a bit too much with water refills and clearing away (a few times before we were all done with our course, a pet peeve of mine.) The "Be Aware" Seemed the restaurant had a price point that everything would cost at least $14 and up. The mystifying result is that for desserts, everything was very expensive and then had HUGE portions. The Chocolate Cake was honestly enough to feed five people -- in fact several of us did have a good piece and still took some home. The cheesecake dish easily enough for four. Again, several people had some and then some went home. It would have been preferable to serve a smaller piece at a lower price. Thanks goodness we did not order a dessert per dinner.

Delicious food, large proportions. We sat in their outdoor seating area and ordered several chicken dishes that

I had a very calm, tasty lunch Friday at Rosebud. Amazing Arrabiata 8 fingers pasta! Very well cooked and friendly served!

I had the tortellini carbonara and it was fantastic! A bit too much cream sauce but good nonetheless. The outside patio had too many tables, next time I will sit inside! Wait staff was very friendly.

Tried Rosebud on Rush based on all the great reviews and totally agree. Authentic Italian home cooking. We ordered lasagne and eggplant parm. Dinner came out quickly, fresh and hot. Lots of great favors amid the cheesey layers in the lasagne. Eggplant was mild and also cheesy. Huge portions of delicious dinner unfortunately preempted dessert. Our server was happy, friendly and attentive. We showed up around 4:30 and got right in. Love the ambiance on the lower level. Very classy but welcoming and relaxing. I saw nice jeans and biz casual. Will go back. Try it if you have not.

Wanted to eat here for long time and finally did. Three floors of dining--warm greeting and seated right on time of reservation. Even though we dined early, restaurant was somewhat crowded. Quick service and extremely nice waiter. Took order and food came well prepared and right temperature. Host came by to make sure things were correct as did waiter. Pasta perfectly prepared and sauce very tasty. By the time we left, restaurant was packed and there was a wait. Only downside was the level of noise--very loud making conversation somewhat difficult.

Great Italian restaurant! All the food was amazing. we sat upstairs inside which was nice but in hind sight we should have gone for the enclosed patio (as we saw it, it looked even cuter to us) In the summer it would be a great open patio. Our server was so helpful and nice and really made the experience awesome! We would definitely highly recommend Rosebud.

Good spot to eat italian places , although, there are better places in chicago , this place is worth it....good pasta plates

It was a friday , the 25th March , our 6th visit to Chicago. This magnificent City, which I still call as the Capital of Modern Architecture, was chosen as our goodbye city from our 2024 Voyage to the North American Continent , where we had just concluded our crossing of the Canadian Rockies driving a SUV 4x4 , through wind+snow+ice, from Edmonton through Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise (Highly recommendable), Revelstoke, Kamloops and Vancouver (My 3rd stay on the British Columbia Capital. Highly Recommandable too !) "Rosebud Rush is loccated quite near the Hyatt Centric Magnf Mile Chicago, our Hotel , so, we just walked some minutes towards NW, and chose it as the restaurant for our 1st diner in Chicago. As we had no reservation, we were seated upon the balcony downstairs, very poorly iluminated, where the barman mr. Alejandro (an imigrant from south america ?...) served us with the classic italian meatballs with spaghety for me and another italian dish for my wife. This restaurant does not serve the splendid "Bostonian Laeger" from Sam Adams, therefore we decided for other type of drnks. "Tiramisu" for dessert ? Of course . For the total cost of $98,41 USD, I added a tip of $10,0 USD , for the global amount of $108,41 USD. As I was writting the figure, a very small devil friend of mine (My usual good travelling companion through the world : Kenya, South Africa, Japan , Chile, Seychelles Islands, Brasil, Italy, Japan and so on and on) whispered to my hear that I would better write "one hundred and eight dollars", complementing the number. in figures... But ... What for ? ... Why should I mistrust the so innocently happy Alejandro ? Why ? Surprisingly that barman, passed repeatidly my card on the magnetig reader behind him, which is already a very strange behaviour on any civilized country (Visa even advise her card'users not to hand the card , but to insert it ourselves. But... I thought to myself and smiled to my wife : «This is our 6th time in Chicago , the Gangsterism Capital of America on the 1st half of last century, and we never had any problem nor any abuse on our Visa Cards!») One minute later, I received an SMS alert message from my Bank requesting my confirmation on a transaction of : ... $ 198,0 USD !!! The "Rosebud Rush" barman, had easily transformed the numeric amount of $108,41 USD into $198,41 USD . (WOWWW ! PHANTASTIC TIP OF $100,0 USD , hey ?... What a wonderful start for a juicy weekend !) Obviously that my imediate response to the alert SMS (copy attached to this article) from "Wizink Bank" was to cancel that transaction. The correct cost of the meal was then , and with the restaurant's manager present, charged on one other Visa Card of mine , after what we exchange polite goodbies , both to and by the manager and the young lady that had driven us to the bar downstairs , as there were no tables available. They thanked us very much and we returned to the night outside for a brief walk back to Hyatt Centric Hotel.

I've only visited Rosebud on Rush two times. Both times were amazing!!!!! The next time we visit Chicago I am sure we will make a stop here. Delicious authentic Italian dishes. The best Chicken Parm I have ever had! The service is excellent. Cannot wait to visit again!

Congratulations to Rosebud for being a shining beacon in the midst of a pandemic! For people visiting Chicago for a day in late June ‘20, you guys were a shining oasis in the desert! It appears that all the 5-star hotels in the city are closed at the moment, but you guys are still good for snipes of Moët et Chandon! We had a tasty early lunch, as an accompaniment to the Champagne. The only downside was the leathery bread for the bruschetta. Everything else was excellent. Which is why you guys still deserve 5 stars in such challenging times. Keep up the good work!

Good food. Really a good experience when you are downtown. The Bruschetta and Mussels appetizers are really good, highly recommended. The bar downstairs is kind of a neat bar. You see out side while you are down there. All in all I like the Rosebuds restaurants.

A wonderful restaurant that does not disappoint. Outstanding service, great wine selection and some of the very best pasta the city has to offer. If your in Chicago and have an appetite, this restaurant should be on your list

My neighbor had recommended Rosebud for dinner but we didn’t expect it to be open for brunch. Saw it on our way back from church so stopped in. We were seated in the covered patio area on the street. Warm and cozy. Excellent service. Small but varied brunch menu. Both my sister and I ordered the Italian omelette. Delicious. Just the right amount of sausage, onion and cheese. I had a side order of Texas Toast. I had to take half of it with me. So very pleased we were able to try it.

We found ourselves downtown with no reservation on a Saturday before Christmas. It started to rain and we had a 6 year old that needed to eat. Rosebud’s host was awesome! Even though they were full in there “outdoor seating”, they came up with a solution. Not only did we have exceptional meals and exceptional service, their hospitality will make this our go-to downtown restaurant on every trip. Whenever I try a new Italian restaurant, I start with the bolognese or meatballs, they accommodated and I was able to try both. Both were wonderful. Ask for the drink (cocktail) menu, they do not offer it readily like the wine list

My husband and I were only in town for the weekend so I spent days researching where we should eat our nice dinner. We landed on Rosebuds on Rush and it did not disappoint. We made reservations and were seating within 20 minutes of arriving although we were on time (only downside), but once seated everything was amazing. I had the square noodles with bolognaese and my hubs had the chicken fettuccine. You could tell the noodles were homemade as they melted in your mouth. All staff members were very attentive from our waiter to the nice gentleman bringing us water refills. We will be back and recommend to others!!

This was out second visit at Rosebud; they have the best veal and chicken parmesan! Insanely huge portions! Service is always excellent and prices are very reasonable. Each dish could feed 2-3 people. I ate all of mine and made myself miserable, but it was so good! We always put this on our list to go during our annual trips to the city!

Restaurant with good looks, from outside, with good service and service. The only downside is that the quality of the food and dishes they serve does not live up to expectations. A rhymingly named salad, which proved palatable, turned out to be a handful of bag lettuce with a few slices of bland tomato and a slice of goat curler. Marketing is fine, but if you generate too much expectation on the customer, the customer may end up disappointed. Besides, I thought it was expensive.

After driving past here for a few years, we gave it a try for lunch. With all the ads for Italian, this was very disappointing. The Caesar salad consisted of very small chopped up romaine lettuce with an over saturated dressing and what looked like a whole can of anchovies dumped on top. The clams linguine was no better. Overdone pasta with what appeared to be a watered-down solution directly from a can of clam juice, with small canned clams. To add insult to injury they over charged for the pasta. There are many better Italian spots in Chicago

We had a great dinner at Rosebuds over Thanksgiving break. I had the best Chicken Parm ever served hot and bubbly to my table. Months later I still think of it. Delicious dinner great service on a rainy night in Chicago.

This was a VERY large Italian restaurant for the tourist crowd, with generally good food. Though I question why a side of pasta in red sauce is served automatically with a chicken picatta dinner, instead of it being a pasta with lemon butter garlic sauce! I switched with my guest for some of his oven'd potatoes - which went MUCH better with my entree. Our table service was great!!

My wife and I stopped in for lunch noon-ish on Wednesday. From being greeted at the front desk to paying the check, Rosebud on Rush delivered a premium experience. The lunch menu offered wide noodles in a marina, I asked our waiter if that was pappardelle and could I get a bolognese sauce. Enthusiastic, "of course". We ordered the shrimp risotto as well. The usual bread. olive oil, and parmesan were all fresh and warm. The special shrimp rissoto came w/6 huge shrimp, asparagus, and mushroom spectacular. The pappardelle was perfectly seasoned and had the perfect texture. Portions were huge as always. Our waiter, kept our coffee filled and made sure we were happy w/our choices. The experience felt very upscale, but service was at our pace and portions were huge enough to bring home for dinner. Many great Italian restaurants in Chicago but do yourself a favor and try Rosebud for lunch or dinner. You can get in and out as fast or as slow as you like.

Elena, our waitress, was terrific. Maitre'd was most welcoming and attentive as well. Was our 50th wedding anniversary lunch. They did not disappoint! Excellent foods and impressive assortment of wines.

mid week visit Service was excellent, the portions were large and the food was wonderful ..... loved it

Went for brunch to celebrate my nieces Baptism. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. They had big portions and a reasonable pricing. They are very kid friendly, my family enjoyed themselves very much.

Rosebud on Rush has been a family favorite for over 15 years. We dine here every time we are in Chicago. Tonight, I had the eggplant stack (chopped) and it was delicious! Huge portion and so good. I also had a tiramisu that was divine. Service was great and we will be back again next time!

Overall, I think they do a great job. It was a lunch stop and far less crowded than a prior dinner reservation. I enjoyed the vodka rigatoni and a limoncello martini. It's worth a try! It's walking distance from Magnificent Mile!

I received a great wine recommendation from the bat tender and bought a few bottles! The Seafood Linguine Special was the best I have ever had.

The restaurant was close to the hotel, so thought that I would try it. I found that the server was good, as was the manager who went table to table to check on guests in the upstairs. The salad had blue cheese crumbles added since they donit have blue cheese dressing. Could not actually tell if any were in the salad. Chicken picatta was really good, just it took a really, really, really long time for the kitchen to get the food out...

Offering Italian American fare we had a very tasty meal with good portions. I had a negroni (strong) and a chicken francese (italian lemon chicken) which was tender and delicious.

All I can say is wow! Visited this location during a family shopping trip to Chicago. Stopped in for a casual lunch and ended up with on of the best meals I’ve had in my life. I had the linguini in clam sauce and it was heaven. Already dreaming of my next visit and this dish.

Excellent! Wonderful! Highly recommend. Great service. Menu choice offering plentiful. Relaxing rooftop. Shade or sun. Don’t hesitate. We will return! GO!

Brilliant food and worth the TripAdvisor ratings for that. But huge handwritten suggestions on a % tip left a bad taste on the mouth! The restaurant needs to relax on pressure tipping or pay the staff more!

We love Italian food; several people referred me to this restaurant and I read the reviews, so my hopes were high, but it was a disappointing experience for my husband and me. We read things about the wonderful ambiance; we had a reservation and were sat outside in the enclosed, temporary patio where the ambiance was not great. Lots of traffic and street noise and harsh lighting. Then, our service was not great at all. I don’t know if our waitress was new or just not good, but that was disappointing as well. We were sat and then not acknowledged for about 15 minutes. We were not given a drink menu; had to ask for one. We were given bread without anything to put on it; butter, oil, anything. About 30 minutes after we were sat, our waitress realized that and brought us some oil for the bread. She asked if we wanted some freshly grated Parmesan (I guess for our bread/oil?) and we said sure but she had the hardest time grating the Parmesan and ended up leaving most of it on our table instead of our plates. It was so strange. My husband got the chicken fettucine alfredo and did not like it. He thought it was very bland & said Olive Garden’s is better. I got the chicken Parmesan and that was the one redeeming part of this meal; it was outstanding! It is the only reason I’m giving 3 stars. So if you’re going to go here (I would not recommend it based on my experience), get the chicken parm.

This was our second time eating at Rosebud on Rush. The food is amazing! The staff is friendly. The portions are HUGE - I recommend sharing! And even if you are full, get a dessert! There is nothing I can say bad about this place!

Generous Italian food. Sharp service however we hadn’t finished our starter before the main was served. Waiter spilt our champagne as he poured it.

We had excellent meals. Chicken Braciole, Baked Ziti, House salads, bread, broccolini. Declan was our server and he treated us like royalty

We went to this restaurant and found a table downstairs. Very good atmosphere and very friendly service. We had both fish dish and seafood appetizer. The grilled calamari and the mussels on a red sauce were outstanding and also min dish with shrimp, broccoli linguine were very good. A place to visit!

This is a wonderful family restaurant and well located near Michigan Avenue. The food is excellent and the service very good.

we had an amazing dinner with our kids. very friendly staff and the kids size of plate would have served easy the whole family- ravioli are great. we parents had an excellent Pinot from napa valley. nice atmosphere downstairs. strongly recommend this place.

Had been told that this place was great but found the food to be average at best with ridiculously HUGE portions…. So if you are looking for a great dinner with a TON of average food at a reasonable price…. This might be your place. The restaurant was closed so we had to seat at the bar area. Service was ok…. Our waiter was bar tender and waiter at once. Not our favorite…. But not too bad

You want to share the meals at this place. The food is very good, but the portions are large. Go with a group so you can share.

Had the Baked ziti and my friend who is gluten free had no issues finding something on the menu to eat. The food was really good. We sat outside and enjoyed the seating and the view. Would recommend the try. The guys from a store we shopped at recommended it and we gave it a try.

We made a last-minute reservation for five on Sunday afternoon for that evening at 6:30. We were seated promptly, and the restaurant atmosphere was formal but comfortable and family-friendly. The tables are close together, but it doesn't feel too crowded. Our server was very personable and attentive and let us know the specials. The menu is large and includes every pasta dish you could want and many entree options for steak and seafood. Our two teens and I ordered pasta dishes, while my husband ordered the veal parmesan, and the 9-year-old decided on a lovely side of fries. Our server tried to talk her into a kid's portion of pasta, but the pickiest eater on the planet just wanted fries, and despite his best efforts, the server had to give up. Our food arrived in less than 15 minutes, and the portions were generous. None of us could clean our plates...not even the french fry queen. All the pasta and sauces are homemade and are made in-house, and all of it was delicious. My husband had a giant portion of veal, and it was perfect. He wanted to eat every bit of it but couldn't. We were offered a dessert menu, but we didn't want to torture ourselves by eating a single bite more. We had a wonderful visit to Rosebud on Rush and would go back a maybe split some meals so we can try dessert!

Lunch stop and had a great meal Eggplant salad was outstanding Italian salad with meat and cheese was excellent as well as Sat outside Started with bread, olive oil and cheese

Great Dinner! Excellent Service abd Good Food! We will be back! Try the Meatball & Polenta! So soft and tasty! great Meat too!! Thank you

Saturday night I was with my daughter & my fiancée around 8:40pm we walked in & the guy at the door asked me if we had a reservation. We didn't and he said he would see what he could do for us. I then got on my phone & found a reservation at 9pm. I showed him & he then stated passive aggressively I was going to see if we could seat you earlier but now you'll have to wait until 9pm. To which I replied either you try to get us a table as soon as possible or we'll leave now & he said we can't accommodate you now until 9pm & proceeded to cancel my reservation which I find passive aggressive & unprofessional. I bet the guy at the door is not the owner but I hope the owner finds out about his passive aggressive behavior. We then went to Quartinos, close by; they accommodated us at a tall table by the bar and were super nice & the food was excellent again.

On a whim, we stopped in last Saturday night. We were happy to see they could seat us outside on a busy night. All the staff were pleasant and attentive, including the management!! Everyone enjoyed there meals. The desserts were huge!

Visited Rosebud on Rush as part of business outing (~25 in our party). Rosebud was the complete package with friendly, fast service, relaxing atmosphere and a delicious meal. Everyone in the party was extremely pleased with their dinner, not one complaint. A must stop if you are traveling in Chicago and you desire a real Italian meal with impeccable service.

Our friends invited us to this Italian. The service was great and selection of wines were splendid. Portions were huge. Very loud though

Went there while visiting my son and grandson. My son is a foodie and is a frequent diner at Chicago’s best known and regarded restaurants. He hadn’t been here before and like me, was impressed. Service also was perfect. Only issue for me was the special entree was twice as much as all others. Next time I’ll remember to ask the price.

We arrived without a booking on a busy Saturday and they were so accommodating and found us a table. Service was excellent throughout and we didn’t feel rushed at all. The food is wonderful, portions are generous and everything was delicious. Thoroughly recommend a visit, it was the best meal of our trip!

We were a party of four on Friday night, 3/8. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Gave great descriptions of the specials and made some nice recommendations. Wines by the glass were reasonably priced. Pasta dishes were delicious. I had the cavatelli al forno and my husband had the papardelle special. Really liked this place and will definitely return. Terrific food!

Went with my wife and two daughters after a day of sightseeing. Nice atmosphere - not too big but big enough. Menu had all the Italian classics. Food met our expectations - a nice Bolognese for the kids. My wife had a bone-in rib eye. A bit thin but we'll cooked. I had seafood in a red sauce w linguini - exactly what I wanted. And we had a nice (and moderately priced) bottle of wine. Service was excellent. Although a bit overbearing. Even the kids commented that the waiter was a bit much.

We ventured out for a great meatball dish and glad we stopped here! Great staff, amazing food, and tasty wine + desserts. This will be a stop again on our next trip back to Chicago.

It was a messy winter evening downtown Chicago. Me and my boyfriend wanted some good comfort food and I thought about Rosebud. I grew up eating Rosebud so I already had my mouth set for some delicious lasagna. My boyfriend was a first timer but I knew he would love it and he DID! I got the lasagna w/ italian sausage and he got shrimp & chicken fettuccini alfredo. We switched plates mid dinner and both were DELICIOUS!

Had dinner at Rosebud on Rush last week on a recommendation from a colleague. Dinner was excellent and service was top notch. The salad was very fresh. For a main, I had the sausage and broccolini. The garlic was infused beautifully.

We planned to have a dinner there, but were not served despite being seated and offered tapped water to start. Suddenly, we were interrupted by the rude manger on duty who claimed he is boss there and we should not be seated and served. Really looked as an outlier there as other personnel was welcoming and polite. So, could not rate the quality of food as we left, but the ego of one person-manager on duty clearly made the owners without revenue for our dinner and staff without tips:-(.

Authentic Italian food at its best. They make you feel at home and welcome. The food is amazing. I had minestrone soup and spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were home made and delicious. The noodles to sauce ratio was perfect. My husband had the sea bass and it was beautiful he said it was very delicious. We will definitely return.

We went to celebrate my birthday. It was so perfect. The waitress was fast, kind and efficient. We were able to sit out on the patio, and it was clean and comfortable! We ordered fettuccine Alfredo and added chicken. It was the best we’ve ever had! Then, to top it off, she brought two cannolis for my birthday dessert!!! I love this place so much! We’ll be back!!

We visited for Sunday Brunch. Our table (for a large group) was in the basement. Waiters were seasoned and friendly. I ordered Eggs Benedict (traditional) but was very disappointed as the hollandaise sauce was very lukewarm. Not sure if my plate was set aside while others were prepared, but it wasn't very good. I was disappointed.

We eat at the Rosebud every time we go to Chicago. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and eveyone seems to enjoy this place. We could be in Italy, and the food is amazing from start to finish; it's impossible to finish, but we try.

I have reviewed this place before but it is so good I felt I could do it again. The food, service, wine and atmosphere are just perfect "Old School" Italian and what you would hope for and expect in Chicago. The meatballs are huge and the pasta is delicious. If the weather is good try and sit on their nice patio surrounded by pretty flowers in the window boxes. The prices are reasonable for great, hearty Italian food.

Great service, food and time spent with my favorite niece! We will definitely be back when we are able to visit Chicago. The baked Cavaletti and the spaghetti and meatballs were awesome! The service was fantastic!

We visited this restaurant 18th June for a family dinner. The noise in the upper dining room was extremely loud, almost requiring ear defenders. On top of that the background thumping poor quality 'music' made the racket even worse. Food took 1hr 20 mins to arrive. I fed comments to manager who was uninterested and made sarcastic comments. My steak was wrongly cooked and not the correct dish that I had ordered. $60 steaks plus, tax and tips , not good value or quality. Avoid.

Rosebud 🌹 💐 has been a Chicago tradition for many years serving the locals here in both the dead of winter and romantic couples 💑 and huge families in the summer. The outside patio is spacious and turns in a heated, well ventilated and spacious indoor/ outdoor protected hut 🏠 in our winter season. I remember eating here as a child being treated by my parents and then as a young adult coming here as a treat for the pasta dishes. My favorite is the 8 finger cavatappi Arrabiata because it's thick and satisfying like a gnocchi and comes with a tasty and spicy tomato 🍅 base sauce with prosciutto. The servers here are always on their game constantly making sure you have enough bread 🍞, 💧 water and 🍋 lemons. They work well as a team 👏 🙌 and really are seasoned professionals. I stick with what I love and never had a disappointing experience. The portions are so generous you may need to bring leftovers for another meal; but that's a good 👍 thing! I wish the Rosebud much continued success and good karma for always making me feel special and for the delicious homemade pasta dishes. Rosebud 🌹 is has a European vibe. No one here will ever rush you in and out and in that way the ambiance is relaxing and perfect for a couple or a solo experience as a self treat.

A passenger on my flight to Chicago recommended Rosebud. I made a reservation online and met friends there for dinner on a Saturday night. It was lively; the restaurant and outdoor patio were full. Upstairs was dark and a bit noisy, but everyone was having a good time and enjoying the food. (What you'd expect at an Italian restaurant.) We had two orders of ravioli and one of tortellini. The food was delicious with better than expected portion sizes. I'd love to go back to try more dishes! Be sure to ask about the specials.

It breaks my heart to write this review as we have loved the entire Rosebud family of restaurants for 30 years. However our past visit to this location makes us want to never go back. The entire dining experience doesn't even deserve one star. Their restaurant was fairly empty when we were seated. The dining room remained that way the entire time we were there. However they seated a single diner at the table right next to us. That was odd, but no big deal. However this diner blared gangster rap videos on his mobile device the entire time he sat at the table. It was filled with one explicit word after another. His table was literally two feet away from ours. I'm sitting there with my wife and eight-year-old daughter listening to this for our entire meal. Our waitress was very aware of it, but afraid to say anything. I don't blame her, as this was a huge guy. However she should have had a manager deal with it. I would not think Alex Dana would want swear words being blared through his restaurant on a late afternoon. However maybe he just doesn't care anymore. We briefly told the hostess what happened on the way out. Her response was, "That should never happen, I'm sorry." Again it was not her responsibility either. That's what managers are for. The food was good, as expected. But the entire dining experience was below horrible. Its too bad, as this was once a great restaurant group.

So great we went twice! This was excellent food and service. I can't say enough great things about it. I had the arbiatta dish with was handmade and excellent, my daughter had the Carbonara gnocchi and it was amazing! Excellent Tiramisu! Enjoyed it both nights! :)

If you want classic old school Italian dishes, a stone's throw from North Michigan, this is the place, with the decor you'd expect. Chicken vesuvio, veal milanese, lasagne, etc. cooked to perfection. We ordered the cheapest wine on the menu, and it was very nice. Chicago has multiple restaurants of this ilk, but this is the famous located within walking distance of North Michigan Avenue. The wait staff highly accomplished, the kind who even though they're really busy, they don't show it, and still offer good service. An owner or manager worked the room inquiring about people's dishes.

On a recent visit to Chicago we were undecided whether to go to The Rosebud or Rosebud on Rush. We opted for the Rush St. location because it was much more convenient. When the server asked if we had any questions about the menu I asked if they could make Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe, one of my favorite pasta dishes, which wasn’t on the menu. They were happy to accommodate my request and the result was delicious. We also shared the “Brick Chicken” which was tasty but a bit dry, hence the 4 rating instead of 5.

We arrived without reservations at 2015 hours. We were told it was a 30-45 minute wait. We were pleasantly seated after about ten minutes of waiting. The service was efficient. I ordered the veal Parmesan. It was about an 8x10 sheet of pure deliciousness! I would highly recommend this restaurant for the service and value of the meal.

Made last-minute arrangements on Open Table to dine at Rosebud on Rush. It was a lovely summer evening to sit outside and people watch while enjoying our meal. The General Manager and our Waitress were amazing. The food was mediocre. I do suggest going here just based upon the nostalgia. My lasagna was ok but not great. I will return and probably try something different.

Terrific from the beginning. They greeted our party and were inviting and helpful. The servers were knowledgeable and accommodating. The portions were large and tasty. The chicken Parmesan in red sauce was amazing. The tiramisu portion was also large and tasted great.

Restaurant was packed but so worth it. One block off of Michigan ave so an easy walk. Service was great and we had a nice table by a window to people watch!

Just arrived from London and found this place. I had the lasagne, it was the best I’ve ever had. My wife had spaghetti bolognaise and she LOVED it. Staff really friendly and helpful.

Had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Rosebud on Rush. We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller appetizer and the Sea Bass and Bone-In Ribeye from the specials menu and everything was perfect and delicious. Service was top notch, as you would expect from any Rosebud restaurant. We chose to sit in the enclosed patio area and it was very warm and inviting even at the beginning of November and still had that buzzing street level al fresco feel.

We went around 9;45 pm on a Saturday. While food was decent, they really should not take tables at that time if they can't be bothered to serve. Took 10 mins to find someone to refill our water and 15 mins to find a waiter to get the bill. We were almost tempted to leave without paying but that would be dishonest! Also way overpriced. As I wrote on the tip line "no service equals no tip"

Had a large group meal at rosebuds. They were efficient and eager to accommodate. The food is good - there is a lot of good Italian all over Chicago though. But I definitely appreciated their accommodating a large group.

There on a weekday and the service was outstanding. The food is always good. Be careful not to order a regular salad make sure it is the small salad.
Delicious Food
Such a wonderful place to eat. So many choices and each one delicious! The bolanaese was outstanding!! I was only here once before. Live out of state but wish I could come once a week!!
