Great atmosphere for a fun evening of entertainment

By 6edith7 |

We were here on a business trip, so our group had the event for the entire evening. The entertainment was excellent. It was a great outdoor/indoor-type venue to sit at a picnic table, have good food and enjoy the atmosphere. Being in July, it got kind of hot. If you stay up higher by the indoor area, it is a little cooler. However, we were in both areas and the experience was great.

Great atmosphere

My husband went for a business get together a couple of time and he wanted me to go ! This place has a great atmosphere and decor ! Lively and fun . The bands had not started when we were there , but it no doubt is a good time ! We were seated with no wait and our server(s) were excellent. Steak and the drunk chicken were our menu picks for dinner. The steaks were large , but not seasoned much... fries and the dip were good . The drunk chicken meal was excellent!!! I only ate half and brought the other half home! It was cooked to perfection, seasoned well and I would get it again ! We left before 7 and the wait was getting pretty long for people just arriving ! The outdoor patio looked like fun, but we didn’t go out there!!! It’s a great place to go, valet park $10 or park in a lot and get your ticket validated for 3 hours. Enjoy The Rustic !!

Horrible Rustic, avoid

Horrible place. We were there for a business meal but there was a private event and we could not sit despite having reservation

The weekend brunch is....meh...

By nwmindra |

We visited the Rustic for a weekend brunch and although the place is huge and in some ways overwhelming, the experience itself was somewhat underwhelming. First of all, the weekend brunch, is rather pedestrian and we were left salvating about the menu items that are only available for dinner (or after 4pm) which sounded really quite enticing and appetising. There's no shortage of food - the best IMHO being the Texas hot chicken and the cheese & potato hash. Given that everyone has to order the same thing, it was surprising that the food took so long to arrive - and the Rustic wasn't even that busy. There was some entertainment on the stage but the artists, two male country singers, were rather unengaged. I can't say I blame them as there was hardly anyone up near the stage. It would be interesting to revisit The Rustic when there's a popular singer and a big vibrant crowd (as per their website)

Fantastic friendly welcome and fantastic food & space.

By Keith W |

Only discovered Rustic on our last day in Houston. When we arrived for a late lunch the manager said we are booked out for a private event in less than an hour but let us have a table anyway, you could see the staff were gearing up for a big afternoon but none the less the service, food and attention we received was fantastic. I only wish we could have gone back in one evening, great space, big outdoor and indoor areas, stage outside. Everything we all had was great, very tasty. Thanks again to the manager letting us see and experience Rustic, I for sure would be straight there on a visit to Houston.

The Rustic made it right!

By Eri V |

The spot is amazing for a girl gathering. We celebrated our friend's birthday on Sunday and despite of some uncontrollable situation in our picnic table in the outdoors they accommodated all of us by the bar and Gavin and Marisol took care of us. Again thank you for understanding and making it a better day for all of us ladies. Hope to return for new girl gatherings soon.

Not impressed

By TRAVELINGIRL_11 |

Not only was the service poor but the food was terrible. We went on a Sunday and it wasn’t very busy. Tons of open tables. As a group of 3 we were sat on the side in the upper deck area right in front of a wall! We couldn’t see the stage or anything. Why wouldn’t they seat people in the middle sections first? Makes no sense. We ordered salads and something must have happened because it took FOREVER and the waitress said our food would be coming out along with a manager. The manager said there was a mix up and comped all of our entrees. Nice of him, it was the right thing to do. Won’t be returning.

Great mean, great service, great music.

By Curiosity20042480345 |

The Rustic is a fantastic restaurant. I truly enjoyed the food, the service and the live music. The price was reasonable compared to the other places nearby. If you are in town for any event, especially if you are staying at the Hilton, check out the Rustic for lunch or dinner. You will be glad you did.

Great Food and Atmosphere

By alwaysreadyfortravel |

Really neat bar/restaurant on the edge the downtown Houston area. We loved the Drunk Chicken dinner. Drinks were good too with lots of selection. We really enjoyed the rustic atmosphere. Great décor. The bar area was huge with plenty of seating. There is a large area for live bands and seating outdoors too. Definitely recommend stopping by this place.

Cold Steak

By Rengens |

In town for a conference, and arrived at The Rustic for a supper with our group of 8. The wait was not too long. Sadly, it appeared that the facility was not staffed well enough for the number of patrons. Lonnngggg waits even for just a Diet Coke. When steak suppers arrived at the table, one that was cooked medium well was STONE cold … the butter on top wouldn’t even melt. The waiter gladly took it back to the kitchen… and kept stopping by to say it was “coming soon.” However, after an hour waiting, and everyone else done eating, I graciously asked the waiter to just charge me for the French fries I had eaten, but take the steak dinner off my bill. He came back three times to tell us the manager would be coming to see us, and would be bringing a gift card. After that, he came back three more times to tell us that… as we had already settled the bill, we finally got up to leave. He hustled over to tell us they were out of gift cards. I never give absolutely poor reviews, but we definitely will not be back

Love this place

By Danielle E |

Always busy but never having to wait long for anything. Friendly attentive staff, great food, clean bathrooms AND live music, what more could you ask for! We never feel rushed. Love this place!

No Jalapenos!!!

By LeeB |

I'm not sure how any restaurant in Texas can operate without having a little spice on the side. Our party ordered the 3-meat fajita plate to share and the only salsa provided was a sweet salsa, which was almost a dressing. I know this is just my opinion but I like a little kick with my Tex-Mex and I imagine this is somewhat of a Texas staple. We asked for salsa, something with a kick, and were told they didn't have anything. When our server cam back again we asked for jalapenos and he said he'd see what he could do. He came back with fresh sliced Serrano peppers. These were a decent replacement but by this time, we'd almost finished the meal. We also ordered a onion rings as an appetizer. These had some kick which made the "We don't have any spicy salsa" response a little more disappointing.

An OK place for a meal

By Robin B |

We ordered the onion rings, a beef sandwich and a shrimp salad. Nothing was outstanding, and you're hard pressed to find anything without jalapenos added. It did have an extensive beer selection and a fun atmosphere, prompt service. I just wouldn't go back for the food.

Step right up for some waiting and average food!

By tcresidentTc |

Waited a long time after the hostess assured us it was just a 15-minute wait. We waited for 40, and just about left, but were then seated. Not worth the wait that is for sure. It is quite nice looking, but if that's all you want, then go here. Service average and food just not really all that good. Not again.

Great margs and live music!

By Barbi J |

First time in Houston and first time at The Rustic. Outstanding food from apps to dessert! We had a big group and shared spicy deviled eggs, fried cactus and empanadas. Main course was delicious roasted chicken and grilled steak with Mac and cheese and broccolini. We ended the meal with delicious banana pudding. Fantastic margaritas, too. Only complaint was how hot it was inside. But the meal more than made up for it!

Before Concert Dinner

By Linda D |

First time at this relatively new restaurant. Opened in November ‘18. Went for dinner before the Buble concert at Toyota Center. Arrived @ 5:30 and they were already hopping! Very busy place! Cool vibe- antlers on the wall, reclaimed wood bar areas and cushy seats in the booths. They have a stage and offer live music most nights starting @ 8. Wide selection of craft beers as well as wine and spirits. Had their center cut rib eye and white hominy, it was awesome! Finished with peanut butter pie which i was able to eat sans crust because of my gluten allergy. All was yummy! Hubby had the great looking texas sheet cake for dessert. They have weekend Brunch on both Saturday and Sunday. Waiters seemed a bit overwhelmed and probably could use some more staff to shorten up wait times for food/drink orders. Will definitely be back and do recommend to others!

Thanksgiving dinner

By Heidi K |

We went here for our Thanksgiving meal. We had a choice of turkey or beef tenderloin. We all chose turkey, I mean it’s Thanksgiving. Included sides of green bean casserole, garlic mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, honey braised carrots, cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls and turkey gravy. You also had choice of dessert, pecan pie, pumpkin cheesecake, chocolate blackout cake, and snickers pie. The sides were all great. Seasoned perfectly. For Dessert we chose the cake and snickers pie. To die for! Best thing is we got to take our leftovers home and I didn’t have to spend hours cooking and cleaning up. We are going to definitely be back and try their regular menu.

Horrible service

By Jb |

My boyfriend and I were not acknowledged after being seated for 20 minutes, so I walked out smh! It was not busy at all so not sure what happened.

Must stop here before the Astros game

By Elizabeth H |

Greatest frozen drink happy hour! Stop there for drinks and appetizers before the Astros game, highly recommend! Alex k and Nate treated us like rock stars, make sure to go see them. We came all the way from Cocoa Beach Florida and we'll definitely be back!!

Great food! Service was good.

By A T |

Great food! Service was good. Lots of space with having indoor and covered outdoor space. Good live music as well.

Rustic is modern...

By HickoryPines |

Went here after the concert at the Stadium, bit of a walk but was on the way back to the hotel. Pricing was fairly standard, drafts were a bit high just for a beer.

Great service. Great Food. Great atmosphere!

By M Devon |

We were warmly welcomed by an excellent team in this popular restaurant / bar. Drinks were excellent and the food was amazing; I’d highly recommend the beer can chicken, which was superb!

Great choice

By GatoTremendo |

Really good. Yummmy. A good choice in the downtown. Rib eye well cooked, plenty of flavor. Include it in your trip!

This place is a GEM! The food

By MMSCruz |

This place is a GEM! The food is amazing, the ambiance is incredible and they top it off with live music. My husband and I were lucky enough to arrive around 8ish pm and they had Chris Boise playing. Everything we tried was delicious. Damian our server went above and beyond. The place is HUGE, makes you feel like you are in Nashville, TN. FOR THE COVID POLICE: lots of open space, they have staff cleaning the rails every 10-15 mins, and plenty of room to sit people away from each other.

Huge Bar with extremely good service

By St_Matty |

Very nice bar, a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff. We sat in the outside section as we had a small dog, the waitress was extremely helpful and brought us a water bowl and even arranged a snack for him. Will definitely be going back again.

Terrible service

By Stephanie F |

Terrible service. Seated at 1250, didnt get waters until 130, had to be back at convention center by 215, left at 145 without any service. Mentioned several times that we didn’t get our drinks and asking about food. Server and manager didn’t care. Another table left as well.

Sunday Brunch is amazing

By Quest562339 |

Really enjoyable meal, enjoyed the Sunday Brunch as it had a mix of items that we usually wouldn't of chosen. Jalapeno grits were amazing. Already planning my next visit.

Great food, drinks and music

By Running Man |

This place greatly exceeded my expectations and was a fantastic place to eat before our game at the Toyota Center. Food was great, onion rings were awesome. Good music, great server, highly recommended.

Overpriced

By ajcastillo915 |

Good food but overcrowded and overpriced. Out of the several times I have been there it has taken a very long time to get service.

Fun outdoor-indoor venue for music and cold drinks...

By Debbie O |

Loved the cool vibe that this venue puts off, indoor or outdoor seating, large stage and dance floor, nighttime lighting, good food.

Poor Service, Average Food

By ofdaleys |

A group of 8 of us went to Rustic on a Friday night. They don’t take reservations, so we were prepared to wait, but we were seated immediately in a table in the far corner of the restaurant. It was extremely hot and stuffy. When we left we walked through the restaurant to the back door. We noticed it was about 15 degrees cooler in the other section of the building. Our waitress seemed pleasant and had two trainees working with her. Seven of our dinners were brought out, but one was missing. It happened to be the dinner of the person paying the bill. None of the servers ever came back to see how the dinner was or if we needed anything. We finally got the server’s attention and asked for the dinner to go. She seemed quite surprised that one of us was never served. We also ordered a $27 shot of tequila with our drinks. The other drinks were served, but it took nearly 30 minutes to get the tequila. The food was fine and the desserts were good. We did not feel like valued customers.

It was ok.

By Nicolle W |

Went here for a drink and a possible bite to eat. Walked in and was greeted by the girl at the front desk. She asked if we were in for drink or food. I said could we look at the food menu as we weren’t hungry but if we seen something that took our fancy on the menu we would order. She looked at me really funny. As if I had two heads of something. We got the menu. Sat down at a table just by the bar and waited....for a while. No one came to take our order. So we moved to the bar...and waited...and waited...and waited. We eventually got the attention of a member of the bar staff. To be fair she greeted us with a nice smile and asked how are day was. Her service was good and we had our drink. We left after one and didn’t bother having food. It wasn’t even that busy. I’d like to return when there is a gig on though to see about the service. Also they have a massive stage down the bottom of the bar. Looked awesome! I bet it has a great atmosphere when they is a band playing.

Yee-Haw!

By Govenator |

1. It’s expensive. 2. It’s worth it 3. Atmosphere is great 4. I haven’t had or made beer can chicken in a long time. I did not try it here mind you, but I watched them make it and it looked fire. Neat. I had the burger and got a tamale. And both awesome. Also got the special margarita. And u damn right it’s worth it. It was strong and good. And expensive. But hey, it was good. Prob one of the best I’ve had outside of me making it.

She said Hey

By Rebecca L |

The restaurant is clean & really great design But bar staff was not attentive and she never told us her name so we had to keep saying hey…. The margarita was good The wedge salad was not cold and plate was warm, had to ask for a knife to cut the wedge Chicken tortilla soup had dark chicken meat and there was skin on some of the meat. Presentation was good Quesadilla with chicken were good but also was thigh meat in the dish Just expect chicken breast in those dishes with the price Would not go back for food, but drinks yes.

Great vibe

By merelywendy |

Visiting Houston for business we found The Rustic by chance as it is within walking distance to many of the downtown hotels. A very large venue, we were concerned service vmwould be slow but we were pleasantly surprised this was not the case! Great menu with a lot of unique offerings such as roasted whole artichokes and the Drunkin' Chick, a cornish game hen cooked on a beer can which was delicious! Wonderful selection of Texas Beers! Live music was also an added bonus. We'd definitely return!

Great Food, Sorry Valet Service

By Michael G |

Food was great with nice service from the waitstaff and the bartender. COVID protocols were in place. I would recommend the Rustic burger with brisket, and try a side of a tamale with your choice of brisket, pork, or chicken. It sounds strange, but trust me on this. The appetizer we had was so good we ordered another (we had a large table) with the Dos Quesos – the homemade chips were very thick, but the pimento cheese on the side with a hint of jalapeno was awesome. The band started at 9:30 but we had been there for a while and only heard three songs before calling it a night. The only complaint I had was the valet car service – ten bucks and attendants with attitude. When it came time to leave, it took forever while others who came up after us were shown their car. We could see our vehicle 30 yards away, but the valet staff just wouldn’t get it nor would they give us our keys until we asked for a manager. To top it off, they finally gave us our keys and we had to go pull out of the valet lot ourselves – and they kept the ten bucks. I know I am going on about it, but the valet experience ruined a nice night out, so much so I’m not sure I would visit this specific Rustic location again.

Don't bother

By sparkleecats |

There are SO many fabulous places to eat in Houston, and this isn't one of them. The service was terrible and the food was overpriced. They had live music but it was hard to hear. This is like a huge dining hall. Not worth it.

Love the Appetizers

By Clearvisiontravels |

Great atmosphere with occasional live music. Tamale 3 way and cactus fries are a must. I’m not a fun of the parking, but that’s pretty much to be expected with downtown. I tried the quail and I’d definitely stay away from that. If this was my first time coming I would prob never return. * the waiter didn’t share when ordered, but the tea is has an awful raspberry flavor. *kids are allowed, but they do not have a kids menu.

Live music, great beer selection

By Gavin F |

Had dinner here with a larger group. Never had friend cactus before as an appetizer but would have again. Great menu options from beef, chicken and brisket. 40 + beers on tap at the bar. Located right next to the convention center was the perfect stop while attending a conference

Great food, excellent staff, invigorating music!

By govisray |

Good food, good service, good music. If you’re downtown Houston and want a good meal served with a smile from a helpful wait staff while enjoying good music come here. Excellent drink selection, while enjoying one of the best steaks I’ve had in a while. Found it by accident but would recommend it to anyone staying in downtown Houston.

Rude Hostess

By eb0415 |

I tried to visit on Memorial Day (mistakenly with my pug puppy tucked in a pet sling) thinking that it was pet-friendly, as the Rustic in Dallas is. Instead of being turned away kindly and professionally, I was met with a rude hostess (she was Hispanic and wore blue that day) who looked at my family and I with an arrogant expression as if she was confused about the concept that I brought a dog (omg! The worlds never seen such a thing!). She never said sorry or gave any suggestions on pet friendly places nearby - the valet man did however and was an angel. I just want to bring to attention the rudeness we experienced at the front door- it suggests the same treatment we could’ve experienced actually dining there.

Sunday Brunch - Wow!

By Gregg C |

4 of us went to The Rustic for Sunday Morning Brunch. Amazing selection of family style breakfast items ranging from bacon, sausage, egg dish, mini-donuts and nice selection of brunch worthy cocktails. We were stuffed and the assortment is incredible. Well worth your time and money. Enjoy. Nice environment.

Excellent place

Dinner was fabulous

The wait was as to be expected for the time we went, but the food ... WOW .... It was fabulous.. the Rustic Burger is my #1 choice. Our waitress gave such fantastic service ask for JessieK

Live music and nice food!

There is live music every night there and feels like Texas! Men with hats and women with boots, country music and dancing ! I loved it!

Fun place

This is a great place with amazing atmosphere and solid food options. The servers are knowledgeable and the adults bevies are out of this world!

Really Cool Restaurant!

By BertiFam |

Visiting a friend in Houston, she took me to this place for lunch, it was so cool! I loved the atmosphere, our Nashville chicken sandwich was delicious, so was my frozen wine! Love the music, this place is a must see and eat! It's a meal with a show! Loved it!

Shanice is the bomb

By Antonio Z |

So great to be back at at Rustic. Pandemic kept us away longer than we would have liked. Shanice is phenomenal. She anticipated what we wanted and made some fantastic suggestions (artichokes, meatballs, and the onion rings). Hustleband service with a great smile. We will be back.

The Rustic downtown

By Ann L |

Salmon was undercooked. Waiter said they cook it medium. Menu said eating undercooked seafood increases the risk of food borne illness.

No Better Place for Pre-Toyota Center Dining

By Warm Weather Traveler |

Our concierge told us about this place prior to going to an Eagles concert at Toyota Center. What a find for elevated bar food and BBQ in a huge indoor/outdoor setting with live music, fun bartenders, and GREAT eats. Once you are done, it is just a couple blocks to the event venue...and it was easy to catch an Uber home from The Rustic when the show was over. Great fun, great food, convenient location!

great outside eating, and food

By tleeEvans |

Went for dinner one Saturday, got there around 5:15 and it was fairly busy, as it was still happy hour going on. Seated in the cover outside portion of the restaurant, but there is also a uncover patio area and a bar area as well, that are outside. There was live music going on that night as well, as they have a large stage. There is only valet parking at the restaurant, but if you park at Avendian Central parking garage you will get you parking ticket validate before leaving and there will no charge for parking. The valet parking is 10.00. The food is very good. We started with the prickly catus fries, which are served with a hot sauce, very good. I got the drunk chicken which is a cornish hen cooked like a beer can chicken and served with the jalapeño spoon bread. Both are very good. My husband got the ribeye, which he liked as well. Reasonable priced food and great atmosphere.

Visited 2 days in a row!

By CypressT |

We first arrived on a Sat. at 12:30 pm. We didn't realize they focused on a Brunch menu on Sat. & Sun. before 3 and had already eaten breakfast so they offered a hamburger, chicken sandwich or salad as another option. I ordered a Froze' from the bar. It was outstanding. I split The Rustic burger (with brisket on top) and the Spinach salad with a friend. Both were tasty and were fresh. Two people at our table ordered an Old Fashion from the bar. They have a different twist of this drink that included a touch of Brandy but both people that ordered it said it was the best they had in the city in a long time. We liked it so much that we came back on Sunday for brunch. WOW! Definitely worth $16.95 pp. It arrived at the table family style. It included mini donuts, bacon, sausage, crust less quiche, avocado toast, cheese and fruit, salad, hot chicken, french toast and grits, all proportioned in small bites. It may sound like your basic brunch but the flavors and presentation were beyond what we expected. It was enough to feed us and we had a pinch left over. The only slightly negative comment our table had was that the Bloody Mary's had a good presentation but average on taste. We choose to sit "outside" both times. Although it was a warm Houston day the fans on the ceiling and walls kept a comfortable temperature. Atmosphere was casual. Parking can be a challenge in the area but $10 valet was easy. It's an easy walk from the George R Brown, Hilton or Marriott Marquis.

cool place with live music

By frenchinlondon |

This is a very cool place for a local Texan dinner, with live music( at least on a Friday when I went there) Food is simple but is cheap. Very relaxed and chilled out atmosphere.

The Rustic

By Jay G |

It was my first visit. Very nice venue. Live music on Saturday was a bonus. I had the Rustic Burger. Very good burger with brisket mixed in. Probably one of the best I have had. I would visit again. Richard was our waiter and was very friendly and helpful.

Something for everyone

By Kaz Page |

We had the best steak here. The food was amazing, the atmosphere awesome and building is great. Service was awesome. The wait staff are really friendly and helpful and happy to explain stuff for us Aussies. Even if you go in just for a drink or a full meal, really worth a visi

Unique place, great vibe

By ogondai |

The food was really good on the Saturday brunch. But way better was the unique atmosphere. It's an interesting outdoor/indoor place with music, and plenty of space. Not sure what it would be like at night, but it was a chill weekend atmosphere.

Brunch - Disappointing!

By chavezgil |

Stopped for lunch at 1PM on a Saturday. Turns out they only offer a fixed priced brunch for $16.95 and the lunch menu is not available until 3PM. So I went for the brunch offering and it was an assortment of this and that - small portions. Not a buffet but they bring out the small plates. The only tasty item was their fried chicken tender. So I was still hungry and asked if I could have another chicken tender - and they said sure for an additional cost. I said ok - so for another $5.95 another scrimpy chicken tender was brought out. I also ordered orange juice and it was $4.25. The venue is very nice and they had some live act playing music. Overall nice place - however the fixed price brunch and the skimpy servings with the brunch are not good value - especially in Houston. I MAY return after 3PM for the lunch but I will NEVER return for their disappointing brunch.

Good Service, average food

By Midwest Michael |

Service was very good and despite our large group our waitress kept everyone attended to. Food was less impressive, but that's about the norm for every restaurant I visited in Houston downtown. Drinks are terribly overpriced -- might be why they kept prices off the menus.

Poor food and slow service

By Matthew D |

Was recommended this place as over from UK it was around 18;30 and not too busy - drink service was slow (bar staff more interested in phones) - we both had the chicken steak it was full of grizzle totally tasteless - would not recommend at all

It’s a solid choice for food at the airport, but it’s pricy.

By Victor B |

This is for the Houston Hobby Airport location! We liked the food overall with the Rustic burger great and the hot-Chicken sandwich pretty bland. Good fries. Our server, Valeria, was fast and friendly. The ambience was great as we had a live singer/guitar player serenade us during our lunch. The biggest negative was the prices were really high. Even for an airport, this is an expensive place for food and that goes for all the nice restaurants, not just this one. VictorB

Concert 🎶 Night

By J R |

Outstanding venue to see your favorite bands and individual bands One thing to keep in mind for the venture would be having a burger 🍔 prior to the opening acts. Table seating most likely not an option So be prepared Customer service is outstanding

Awesome place to have dinner and enjoy live music

By toniriser |

The food was great, everything we had was wonderful, it like you are in a large barn with high ceilings.

Horrible service - DO NOT RECOMMEND

By Steve Mazz |

2 hours to get food and super hot and uncomfortable. Don’t come here if you expect good service. Spoke to the manager and nothing was done to accommodate for the wait and poor service experience.

Neat facility.

By Visitor 2019 |

Atmosphere is casual. Beautiful building and outside courtyard. Comfortable walk from Hilton. Food was ok. Most items very spicy/salty. Many items served family style with 2 person minimum. Manager handled too spicy to eat onion rings. Nice to have experience but will try another place next time.

Horrible Service

By AllieCat61 |

This joint has horrible service. This was mediocre and cold when served. I do not recommend this place.

We loved it

By Manon C |

We had such a great time there last Friday. The live music was really great and the food super good. Even if it’s definitely not a cheap place for food or drinks, but again it features free live music so... it balances out for me. And the place is huge and very well set up.

GREAT LOCATION and lots of food!!!!

By #becourageous |

The amount of food and large space to accommodate large parties is ideal for playoff games and downtown good times!! The onion rings, chicken sandwich and veggie sandwich was delicious!!!!! Extra tip the female African American bartender-she makes drinks for grown folks!!!!!

Beer, salmon and fun

By Barry H |

After a long and brain numbing day at work, needed to find a place that served good beer and food. We noticed The Rustic was right across the street from the hotel, so ventured over to check out the place. Walked in and was thrilled to find a lively place...not too loud, but just right. Hannah our server came over and immediately made is feel welcomed. She joked around but also provided an impressive knowledge of the menu. Dealing with 7 customers at a table can be overwhelming at times, but she handled it like a pro. I ordered the Salmon Buger with bbq homemade chips paired with a Fullbrook Ale Works Blueberry Cream Ale. Yummy is an understatement, well balanced meal and very filling. If I'm ever in Houston again, will definitely stop by.

Live music, food, and friends - Rustic Downtown Houston is for you

By Albert_Ok_99 |

Friday night was a pleasant diner out / music out sort of thing. A quick search on "Houston live music" did not disappoint when it offered The Rustic Houston Downtown with a live music band free of cover. We came for dinner, so we caught a part of the early show and stayed for the main later on. Food us a bar style with tavos, fied stuff and finder food. I got a triple pork chop, which was juicy and tasty, but man, it was huge. Yes, it could feed a couple or a triple. Actually, quite a few dishes were for two or more people, so come hungry. The place is open to outside and looks like an amphitheater with a good view of the stage. Long tables accomodate easily 10-16 people, so come as a party family. Once thing though that personally affected me, is wine selection. I did not get my first choice, and the alternatives were subpar. I know, i know it is not a wine cellar, but, really, for prices here, at least have everything you show on the menu. Overall, it's a good place to enjoy a night out and live bands - definitely recommend.

Go for the atmosphere, not necessarily the food

By YoureMyButterhalf |

I thought the outside patio was great and you could hear the band, but it was inconvenient. Because there was a wait you have to keep a look out for your number to be displayed in two places - 1 location is at the outside bar - which you cannot see from lots of places in their outside area. You don't get a pager so instead of sitting in the available seats we had to crowd around to be able and see our number pop up. The wait wasn't too long and when my friend asked if we could sit at an empty more central two top, the response was, well I'll have to ask a bus boy to clean it. Okkkkkk, can you ask? We were not asking for a bigger table just one not in the corner to see the band. Food was bland. Best thing was the pimento cheese in the appetizer and smashed potatoes with the chicken. Otherwise the cheese dip tasted like cheese whiz. My pork chop was dry and my friend's chicken was dry. He'd been there for brunch and apparently it was much better then. Then at the valet the supervisor was trying to direct his staff to get our car in a location in which we wouldn't have to sit behind a car they hadn't moved yet. The guy couldn't figure out the directions and had us pointing toward the one way entrance!

What a great spot downtown for some after work food/drink

By LSUTraveller |

Easy walk from most downtown hotels or a very short Uber ride. This place is located next to George R. Brown (opposite side from Minute Maid Park). Plenty of parking, much of which is free. LOTS of brew options, both local and other domestic, as well as great appetizers and healthy meal portions. The triple chop was awesome. Decor is great - and lots of room.

Food was great!!!

Group of 12 decided to try this place for food and drinks. Plenty of seating with great views. We sat near the large stage in the July heat, but the fans kept us cool. It is much cooler near the bar area. They have outside seating to the side of the stage that is great for the kids to run around and be kids. The food was great. Everyone in the group loved the food. Strange to have Deviled Eggs on the appetizer menu, but we ordered some and they were delicious. The Rustic Burger and Hot Chicken and Cheese were popular with our group. Strange to post, but the restrooms were very large and super clean. They have tvs everywhere, so if you want to watch a game you can and the stage setup is pretty cool for a band. We will be going back. If you are Downtown near the George R Brown Convention Center, Toyota Center or Discovery Green walk on over and enjoy this place. Lots of cold beer too!!!

Sunday Funday

By Lisa B |

Uptown has a good vibe and great bartenders, especially Evony. Live music to set the mood. Jorge , the manager, was super nice to give me a “sample” dessert when I could not make up my mind on which one I wanted. I would recommend The Rustic Uptown.

great place

By JLM3080 |

A real surprise as i never knew itr was here, but really convenient for the convention center and the Hilton, a huge open restaurant with a stage and bands, great food and very good service as well, prices are pretty reasonable. The burgers are very good.

Disappointing and incredibly slow.

By Leslie R |

We still hadn’t been seated 30 minutes after our reservation. We finally ordered takeout from the bar, and had to wait half an hour for that to come. And the food wasn’t great.

Brunch

By jacktn13 |

Ventured into The Rustic for a Sunday brunch, our first visit. The brunch menu was a family style. It consisted of fried chicken and fried dill pickles, sausage, bacon, French toast, donuts, baked eggs, jalapeño polenta and a cheese and fruit tray. It is sized to feed the number of persons at the table. The food was good but my major issue was the amount of spicy heat in the chicken and polenta. Also it was bit chilly as it is a updated ice house style building. Oh and they had live music and later in the day they would be having a Rockets watch party.

Good but pricey

By Bfrank1977 |

Loved the food. Great service and atmosphere but it seemed slightly overpriced. Would still recommend but beware of the price.

Nice venue and very quick service

By St_Matty |

Went here for a few drinks just before Christmas. We found the service very quick and the staff friendly. The venue was extremely nice and the food menu looked good, with plenty of choices. We will be back to try that out soon.

overall a nice casual restaurant with a nice ambiance, decent food and poor service

By 0504Traveller |

We were looking for a nice, casual restaurant to celebrate a birthday and all the reviews said The Rustic was nice so we decided to check it out. The ambiance is very nice as the restaurant is large and spacious. The food was decent, average but a bit overpriced for the casual food. The service, especially who was assisting us, wasn’t good. their barely did their job and seemed more focused on chatting with other servers than serving. even when i would ask questions, they barely responded with any information. we started out with the cornbread/corn pie, then had the That salad and then had the shellsncheese, the burger and the french dip. the food was decent with decent flavors and portion size overall a nice casual restaurant with a nice ambiance, decent food and poor service

Excellent cookery, really was delicious

By Sazzle1976 |

Really enjoyed our evening here. Relaxed dining experience seated at the bar. Food far surpassed any expectations I had for quality and taste, really couldn't fault it, and portion size was very reasonable (ie not too big at all by American standards). Great cocktail list and other drinks choices. Loved the frozen margarita. Really good friendly service, thank you. We dined on a Tuesday evening so it wasn't too busy, I understand they have live music on other nights. Note, On approach from the outside (we walked), it looked like it might have been closed but it certainly wasn't.

Great !

Overall experience was okay . Food was great . It was just the atmosphere . A little too rowdy for me , Great for young people !

Best place to go to escape Covid!

By Keimigb |

It was our first trip outside since quarantine, and this place is the best because you can sit outside but have ac too! The bar is huge, the seating is spread out, all employees are wearing masks. Ok, so to the BEST part! The food is excellent! We had chicken quesadillas as an app with our happy hour drinks. Next we had the Rustic burger split in half for two. The waitress was so accommodating and offered to split our burger onto two plates. I am sure the yummy crunchy potatoes chip style fries equaled at least two orders worth—saying generous portions is being conservative. The service was excellent, everyone came by to check on us. Go try The Rustic! You will not be sorry 😃!

Good food

By iwficon |

We'd seen this online as we looked for music venues in Houston but one of our party noticed the beer can chicken and decided we had to visit for lunch. And it was a good choice. The places has a fresh feel, open plan and a good vibe. A nice welcome and happy to talk us through the beer choices. A great choice of food, all of which looked and tasted great when it arrived. I had the daily special tacos which whilst proving to be vegetarian were very tasty indeed! Well worth the visit.

Be Prepared to Eat

By kssteeler |

I had the burger that was nothing like I ever had before. It was topped with grilled onions, cheese and beef brisket. My wife and I shared a basket of sweet potatoe fries and she had the grilled chicken spinach salad which was served in a very large bowl. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to sample the Texas cousine.

The Rustic Uptown Park

By Calondra B.♥️ |

Let me begin by saying I forgot to snap a pic of menu and as the Family Style Meal was served. This was my first visit and the restaurant parking lot was full. Always a great sign as to what’s to come. Location is visible and accessible from 610 in Houston. Large open restaurant, live music stage, bar, garage doors that open to outdoor seating, picnic tables, concrete and dirt flooring to add to your experience and a great waitstaff. The Family Style offers 9 shareable entrees for your group of fingerling potatoes with smoked paprika, cucumber and jicama salad, black pepper bacon, French toast, eggs migas, mini biscuits in country gravy, a mini dessert plate with strawberries, hot fried chicken, and avocado toast on cute baguettes for the entire table @ an unbeatable $19.95 per person. There’s a large liquor selection. Run don’t walk! Great vibes, amazing food, friendly staff is a winning combo.

A great Tex-Mex!

By Mario C |

Dinner with colleagues, great atmosphere, good tex music and a tasty rebeye! Remarkable and recommended!

Wow!

By Tom L |

Wow! Great tasting food and terrific service. The tamales appetizer and Drunk Chic are delicious with a variety of good beers offered. Seating is ambient temperature (open air under roof.) Garage parking across the street is validated.

Really Rustic

By BGMD |

A very nice and wide place. On the one hand, you can eat something while choosing local beers. The staff is very friendly and sympathetic. The area is full of young people. I would definitely recommend this place if you like beer

Great place for BBQ

By NaplesGuy239 |

The Rustic is a true Texas gem! I love the ambience — it perfectly captures that laid-back Texas barbecue feel, with both indoor and outdoor seating that’s great for any occasion. We went on a Friday night and enjoyed some fantastic live entertainment, which really added to the fun, relaxed atmosphere. I started with the smoked dip duo, which was packed with rich, smoky flavor. For our main course, we shared the tacos — both the pork and chicken — and there was plenty for the three of us. To top it off, we split the peanut butter pie and the ice box s’mores for dessert, and both were delicious! Overall, The Rustic is a great casual spot with great food, a fun vibe, and live music. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Houston!

Very nice atmosphere and food

By Scott A |

Brilliant atmosphere with a live band, the food was nice and so were the drinks, very reasonable prices too. Worth a visit.

Saturday Brunch

By Louis B |

Awesome, if your looking for something different, this is it. We didn’t want brunch but it was plenty of food and worth the price. Everything was very good with a little twist on the taste. Grits , chicken , baby kale salad, sausages and bacon , some cheeses, French toast, eggs and donuts for dessert. It’s not your mamma’s breakfast, but she like coming here!!!

Great Atmosphere

By Frank C |

Good place to bring out of town gusts, staying Downtown. Within walking distance of Convention Center and many Hotels. See their Web site for Live Music schedule! Rustic Architecture, wood beams, great atmosphere. Love the swinging lounge chairs at entrance. Server Sarah, was friendly and helpful on Menu selections, very attentive. Wild Boar Chili is spicy, but yummy!. Carnitas Tacos, comes with 4 soft shells , too much food for one person, hopefully they reduce portion size. Or order and share. Service was great, all staff friendly. Love the decor. Bathrooms clean and well lite. Huge Parking lot. Could be filled at night if Live Music is playing. Can Uber to here, also.

Amazing Dessert!!

By Willa C |

Visited in August 2020 (sorry it took awhile) 😆 We only ordered the banana pudding to-go BUT it was one of the best desserts I have had in a long time!! It was perfect poolside. Rich, creamy, and delicious! Order your own because this is too good to share. Restaurant had music and a great vibe! Need to go back soon for date night or family dinner. This place will work for both!

Don’t waste your time

By Explorer50436511194 |

Terrible service- had to ask to be waited on, never came backed and checked on us after we got food, never refilled drinks. onion rings too big. jicama, shrimp and avocado salad left a lot to be desired. Cucumbers were green, shrimp still had veins.

Birthday Celebration

By Esquivel02 |

Birthday lunch celebration for the boss and coworker. This was a great idea. Food was on point and staff was very attentive. Would definitely come back. Live music at night, so will have to come check it out.

The Rustic is FANTASTIC!

By Natasha W |

Our entire regional team, of 75 people, attended an appreciation dinner at The Rustic. Abby and her team were absolutely AMAZING and coordinated every single detail! I didn't have to worry about anything and our event was a total success! We all had an incredible time! The food was INCREDIBLE and the band was AWESOME! I honestly can't say enough about the atmosphere at The Rustic. We all plan to return for brunch and other holiday parties.

Great food and drinks

By Jessica G |

Great food and drinks. The server was a little hard to find and it took longer than it should to get the drinks out on a Tuesday night. It was not very busy. Overall I’d go back.

Awesome food and cocktails

By Cristian M |

Food was awesome, cocktails were refreshing and well balanced, beer was cold as your ex heart, my goddaughter was having the time of her lifetime, playing with other kids in a secure and closed location. Great music!!

Refused to give us a wait time

By Martha S |

Two hostess told us that they would not give us a wait time estimate because we had 5 adults and 1 child in our party. She said that the restaurant policy would not allow her to give us a time. We arrived at 3:30 p.m. on December 28, 2022 and the restaurant was not full. A group of 6 was waiting when we arrived. Parking lot was 1/2 full.

Slow Service

By Dolphinheadkw |

The bar was very slow, but the 2 bartenders gave very slow service. Talked to each other more than the customers and were on their phones.

A pleasant surprise

By Pam M |

Great service and yummy food and mocktails, we chose this place because it was close to our hotel that had minimal food offerings. The place is huge and we were happy we didn't have to wait for a table on a Friday night around 6PM. The live music was really good and the menu had something for all of us (burgers, fish, crab cake, etc). Service was very friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back.

Excellent choice

By DAlvaradoL |

Good place, the location, environment and specially the food. A must go in Houston. But can improve a little in service

Great Place!

By Nevada-Dan |

You will like this environment. It’s a combination of indoor & outdoor. Live music. Good food. A couple of bars and plenty of people.

Food Fine - Everything Else Poor

By skybluejan |

On arrival the hostess tried to put us on a hightop - we wanted one of the empty booths but we were lied to and told it was booked. No one ever turned up for the supposed booth. Next she tried to palm us off with a table by the restrooms and seemed genuinely surprised when we declined this one and insisted on one nearer the centre of the room. Our server appeared and took drinks order which took an eternity to arrive - the place was 2/3s empty so heaven knows how long it would have taken on a busy night. Finally our food order was taken and although entrees and mains arrived together (a personal dislike) the food was good. We wanted more drinks but by the time our server reappeared the mood gad passed and the one dessert requested had sold out. When we asked for cheque another long wait ensued as we tried to use a $10 discount voucher but had to wait for authorisation but manager was indisposed dealing with a "situation". It was a shame that service and attitude spoiled an evening - place has a good vibe and food is good but staff training needs sorting out.

Cool Venue

By Carole M |

Really liked this venue. Much larger than it looks from the entrance. I would probably go in the Spring or Fall...as it was hot and there were a ton of people for the private event. The food we tried (appetizers) were good...the food lines were too long to wait for anything. Great beer choices.

Worst dinner ever

By Richard G |

Spent 3 hours on dinner and gym is completely incompetent has no idea of customer service. They count on conventions and non repeat business. Do not care abou repeat customers.

Great margarita!!!

By Apucciarelli |

The food was amazing, but the drinks were even better. I had ordered everything spicy; grilled cheese sandwich, soup, and drink. I was so happy with my orders. I will definitely come back here to try out their other meal plates. I would recommend to avoid eating in the open space area because of the fans which gave too much of draft.

Would not recommend

By John D |

This is an overrated restaurant. Lousy food and service. Blasting music. Would not recommend and will never return. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Great Atmosphere

By laura19792017 |

Loved it here, great buzzy atmosphere and great live music. I wish this place was in the UK I would be in every weekend.

Howdy Cowboy

By Carl Eats Here |

Attended a private event. Great drinks, venue, vibe and passed hordeuvres. I would recommend this for large events with a casual crowd

Amazing place, great food!

By Halkidis |

We ended up here accidently, while walking around Toyota Center(Rockets' home arena). Restaurant itself is huge, with outdoor area and stage for live music. Despite place was almost full on Friday night, service was fast and friendly. Menu is huge and you can find everyhing from BBQ favourites to tacos and from salads to sandwiches there. You can smell that wood grill from open kitchen and whole ambience is real laidback. So perfect place for brunch or dinner or just live music and cold beer!

This place makes Houston even Better!

By george t |

This place serves up great atmosphere, tremendous food and unique dishes, and the staff is friendly and well trained. For dinner, it is no different, but with the addition of live music. Great for business gatherings and family gatherings

Always a fun time

By Bobby980 |

Been here multiple times now, live music, good drinks and lots of energy. Table of 7, Nathan was our server and he was awesome. On top of refilling waters, prompt service when we needed him and he was able to give us separate checks which we inquired about at the beginning and he obliged. I had the pineapple smoke (mezcal based) which I really enjoyed as well as the wild boar meatballs and cactus fries, they all hit the spot.

Worst trap ever

By Carlos G |

This place is plain terrible, especially if you're a tourist or immigrant. If so, no one will take any orders from you, and the only positive thing about that is you won't be able to spend a penny (because you won't get served or anywhere close to it). If I could grade it 0 or negative I certainly would.

Wild boar chilli

By nephronking |

Came here for lunch after series of lectures in the ASN in George Brown conference centre. The young chap helped us with the menu and we ordered the Texas hot chicken sandwich with the wild boar chilli. Refilled coca cola.

Good sandwich

By Midtownie |

Host and bartender were not welcoming. However, they did their job and received a tasty sandwich. I was pleased with the Texas cheesesteak - certainly great but very tasty! I also really liked the chips!!

Texas experience

By scott l |

Is a typical massive Texas roadhouse and the spirit of urban cowboy! Coming from Los Angeles and I got Noel being chilly. It was a lot of fun.

Cool place, expensive food, great live music

By Darcy Spady |

This is a very cool venue, essentially outdoor. The live music is very good. Food prices are high, and portions are not huge.

Cool Place, but...

By SmittyOfTexas |

If you work for a living, don't go here. I may just be a good ole' boy from East Texas, but it is idiotic that you serve BRUNCH ONLY until 3 PM on a Saturday. The Brunch menu only had around 8 to 10 options, all of which my wife said no to. We were told by some Houstonians that this was a great place.... and while a cool atmosphere, it's for the arrogant and out of touch. Our waiter was snobbish, rude, and downright dismissive when we ordered water. Sorry, I don't drink at 3 PM when I'm driving. Maybe it was the Yellowstone shirt and my boots that made him turn his nose up at us. I get it, you are trying to be pretentious with a southern flare, but catering to the elites of Houston just seems like a bad business model. We walked out.

Outstanding Service!

By Jowell J |

I have become a regular guest recently not only because the food is phenomenal but because the superb service outmatches any other restaurant in the area. I never have to wait long for a drink and Tony’s infectious smile and comedic personality are really a vibe and make the atmosphere that much more enjoyable. He makes his job look so effortlessly easy and all of the guests enjoy his time. I would say he’s hands down one of the best bartenders in Houston, ask for his signature Mexican Candy shot! Tony is an asset to the team and I hope to see him on my many future visits to come! By the way, if you have time for dessert the peanut butter pie is to die for.

The Rustic

By Miguel N |

Great food... better beers... friendly helpful staff... chorizo empanadas were on point brisket tacitos were on point... plenty of food for the price!!!

Inside/outside dining

By Steve H |

Decent prices, food was good, steps from Hilton America’s. You are in a covered area but with nice weather the sides are open to the night air. Nightly entertainment as well. Try the Margueritas, house special. Recommend!

More employees required

By St_Matty |

I've been here a few times and always enjoyed myself. We sat at the bar this time, and although it was extremely busy, there was only one server. She was rushed off her feet, and with all the people there, I was amazed at how well she did. I think her name was Paige, but I couldn't check as the receipt didn't show her name. They were out of stock of the meal we wanted, and quite a few beers were gone as well. My compliments to our server, but please give her some help.

Solid Spot for a Casual Meal

By BER0416 |

Enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and good food. The service was decent—nothing extraordinary, but it got the job done. A reliable choice if you're looking for a relaxed dining experience without any fuss.

Great Brunch

By Kristin B |

Met a friend did lunch, they have a fantastic brunch option on Sundays until 3pm. There was hot chicken, avocado toast, cheese, crackers, bacon, salad, grits, fruit, French Toast. The service was excellent! I would highly recommend this place.

Ask about menu before waiting for table.

By carrieb78410 |

Horrible experience! We visited around 11:30 on Mother’s Day. We were seated in the hottest corner of the restaurant where the sun was beating down on us and the speaker was turned up so loud we were screaming across the table just to hear each other. We were not told that they were serving brunch and only a couple other menu items until after we were seated and the waitress came to take our order. We should have left at this point but decided to stay. My hot chicken and cheese sandwich was disgusting! Very bland chicken with no amount of spice at all. All I could taste was the American cheese. Most of all just very disappointed that we were not told that they didn’t have a full menu.

Great place for lunch in downtown Houston

By TheExoticAdventurer |

Was recently in Houston for business and visited The Rustic for a weekday lunch. Really cool dining and music venue in the middle of downtown. Great atmosphere. I had the Rustic Burger with fries which was really tasty and filling. Great service and friendly staff. Shoutout to the awesome manager Alyssa Dillon! She visited our table a few times to ensure everything was up to par. You can tell she really cares about this place.

Great atmosphere and live music

By roj1281 |

This place has a great atmosphere and live music. The food is good also, but can take a while sometimes.

Good food and music, problems with the drinks

By Beau K |

This place is lively, casual, and attractive. The food can be simple or complex, cheap or expensive. We tried several appetizers and different entrees, all were great. Only complaint were the margaritas: the first one was great. I ordered a second one and it was so sour I couldn't drink it. It was also in a different glass, so I suspect that it was made by another bartender.
