We enjoyed this Pizza and their garlic cheese bread so much that we did it twice while in San Diego for six days. Delicious Food, 1st time we ate it in at about 3:30pm - the restaurant was pretty quiet at that time, the 2nd time we ordered it to go on a Saturday evening at about 8pm - the place was very busy and loud at that time, but the food was just as good! It is about four to five blocks from the beach so is a little quieter than places right on the beach. We loved it, and highly recommend it.

Great pizza. Excellent price. Kind of funny, there's a pizza place right across the street from the hotel I was staying but yet the hotel staff highly recommended sandbox pizza a mile away. Sure gland they did.

Pizza was very good! All else was ok. Servers were prompt and we didn't have high expectation as this was a typical bar scene, the pizza was very good though. :)

Lots of great choices for creating your own pizza, delicious meatballs, craft brews and a fun staff. Lots of TVs, NFL package, foosball and shuffleboard. There's also a small outdoor patio. No liquor yet and really hoping they get breakfast pizza!

My wife and the fam stopped in on a sat afternoon, the atmosphere and the waitress was great. the kids got to play Foosball while we relaxed on their patio. from appetizers to the pizza everything was wonderful.. will definitely make this place my regular stop when we head to the beach...

We went with family for dinner and to watch Supercross on TV. When we first sat outside the TV's were on a game that others were watching, the staff understanding we wanted to watch Supercross offered a table inside where they changed the TV to the station airing Supercross! Our server, Pam, was attentive and would appear when we needed refills or a box for leftovers without be pushy or assuming! It was a bit loud but that would be expected in pizza place with lots of TV on verious events and lots of folks playing table games! Fun pace to have a pizza and beer!

I asked the guy at the front desk of the hotel for a recommendation for pizza delivery and he suggested, The Sandbox. He was right! Their pizza is Amazing! The delivery was fast and the pricing was very affordable.

Great atmosphere for taproom/tavern/sports bar sort of place. (Fun environment, but not a place to go for a quiet dinner!) They have seating indoors and on deck outdoors. I ordered the Combers Combo pizza, which was an excellent choice among the many specialty pizzas they have to choose from. They had a trivia game going on, which seemed like fun, and the guy running it seemed to really be into it. Pizza was very tasty, so much so that I ate that last piece even though I was pretty full...Not sorry either! Would definitely go back.

Last night of our trip , we decided to have pizza and we were not disappointed! Great service and price we got the Hawaii 50 Fantastic!

We were staying on the beach and decided to take a walk along the coast to find a good place for a late dinner with our family. I took a look on TA and decided on a pizza place with good reviews. It was a half a mile inland from the beach, but a fun and easy walk. Fun, festive atmosphere. Good service! Parmesan Fries and Meatballs were excellent appetizers. Pizza was awesome!

Ordered online and it didn't go through so waited 25 minutes at the restaurant-so loud you could not talk.Would not eat in and will not order here again..average pizza..skimpy on the toppings and just overall disappointing. Tried to eat it cold the next day and threw it out...

We stopped by here for a quick meal after arriving in town. The selection was really good, as were the cocktails. Salads were freshly made and great and the pizza was really delicious. Service was top-notch!

Went here with my wife and 5 kids after San Diego zoo day. Maybe I was just hungry but this was the best pizza I have ever had. The BBQ one and the buttermilk one were my favorite. They had a giant connect four that my kids played with while we waited. Lots of big tvs. Will come here again for sure.

I took my grandson here on the recommendation of a clerk at our hotel. It was about a five block walk. We took a table on the front patio which extends onto the strip mall parking lot. A friendly wait person took our order. He ordered a small pizza and I a medium. There were two people at tables with dogs on leashes. People asked if they could pet the dogs. The owners agreed. The pies were quite good. The small pepperoni and the medium deluxe were too much for either of us. We took a to=go box back to the hotel. If/when I return to this part of San Diego I would return.

One of the best pizzas I've ever had! We went in after 11pm, so I guess they were short on staff. We had to wait around a little bit for the only waitress to take our order. We did build-your-own pizzas with our choice of toppings. Cheetos on pizza? Amazing! Would definitely go again.

We were staying for a few days in the San Diego area for a winter getaway and just happened upon this place while searching for pizza nearby our hotel. Soooo glad we did! Delicious pizza ( buttermilk bliss ), beer was cold, great casual atmosphere..... still thinking about it ...🤔🍕❤️

We got back to our hotel later than the closest non-hotel restaurant was open and didn't want to pay the high prices of the hotel food. We were very happy with the delicious food and timely delivery service from this place!!! We ordered a couple grinders and a bacon pizza.

The atmosphere and food were fine, not great. Had more of a college style vibe than I was expecting, but that isn’t the reason why I’m giving it 3 stars. With those two things just being fine - it felt overpriced and I wasn’t impressed with our service. It wasn’t even that it was slow, our order was wrong, no one apologized, they did eventually bring us out the right pizza but about 20 minutes later. We had to ask for napkins and forks, then plates, and never got refills. My GF and I aren’t big drinkers (however we are usually big tippers because of this) and our waitress seemed annoyed that she had to wait on us and gave us C level service. Not saying don’t go, but I’d imagine there are better pizza options in the area.

Sportsbar atmosphere so be prepared for some boisterous patrons. The portions are large and served up hot and fresh. Our server was very friendly and attended to our requests quickly. A couple of the beers we requested were not available on this particular visit.

Not only can you make WHATEVER kind you like (or 2!) , but grubhub delivered faster than I could have driven there and back! Our friend even said it was the best she's EVER had!

We had a Hawaii Five O pizza which had pineapple, canadian bacon, and extra cheese. It was great. Had leftovers for lunch the next day. Also had a 7 piece wings. They were good too.

Almost our local, decent draft beer selection, great pies, superb service. We love Sandbox and are regulars for a reason!

Food is excellent for a takeout menu - delivered on time and always hot. Menu is extensive - a must try at PB!!!

We enjoyed this place so much when we had their hawaiian 5 0 with great service we just had to go back on trivia night. We tried the thai pizza and we were not disappointed at all. Great vibes and great food and drinks.

Great pizza, service, drinks, and beers....drink menu quite large with tasty large drinks and you can taste the alcohol. Seating indoors or outdoors, tv's....

We arrived late to our hotel on the beachfront, tired but hungry we called to order pizza and wings. The pizza was huge and very good!!!! The wings were a wonderful surprise - perfectly cooked and great sauce. The order delivery was quick and had everything extra we needed (plates, napkins, plasticware). We didn't expect to get good pizza in CA so this was a great find. In fact, our kids wanted to get wings from there every night because they were so tasty.

This restaurant was a bit out of our way but a nice find. Good drink specials, lots of TV options, casual atmosphere, and a great pizza crust.

Just off the beaten path, this spot has very very good pizza. Has more of a neighborhood feel, as opposed to the tourist and surf crowd closer to the beach. And very good service, friendly and fast. Totally enjoyable experience.

Pizza was great! Good appetizers. Multiple tv for sports enjoyment. Clean and cozy environment. I would come here again next time I visit.

We ordered pizza on Christmas Eve online and the deliver took an hour and a half. I called to make sure it was still coming and they said it was. They asked if I still wanted the order and I said yes. They delivery driver arrived and apologized that it took so long but he said he was the only driver on staff and they were very busy. I believed him because I've seen this happen before on Christmas Eve. The pizza was still hot and delicious. The driver was nice. Except for the long delivery time, they did a good job for us.

Great pizza, big portions, good value. Not to mention the excellent service, wish i could rember the blokes name, sorry, but he was very helpful and friendly. We also shared some starters (crab & jalapeno bites and mozz sticks very good) too much food really, but great quality. Also had some really good local real ale. Would recommend. Apparently gets busy at weekends later in the evening... No surprise really.

This is a hidden gem in San Diego. It would be hard to beat, if such a competitor could be found. I'll be back, and VERY soon.

"Great, that's all we need, another pizza place!" I barked several years back. Seriously, we have pizza and tattoo shops in stupid abundance. If you played "yes-man" for a year around PB, the only thing that would keep you from running out of ink space would be the ever growing waist size from eating all the pizza. Sandbox is one of the few places worth the calorie sacrifice. Awesome staff. Awesome product. Meatballs are the local super secret treat.

This place was recommended by the hotel we were staying and they did not disappoint. Sat outside, beautiful day, and enjoyed some nice cold beer, and some great pizza, Service was great and the prompt, and the appetizers were good also. thanks...

Had a discount card when I went in and was told it wad valid. Turns out that was BS. The pizza was nasty and had way too much sauce. Meal for one came to $50!!! Might be an idea to check before telling people they definitely get a discount and to "come on in." Not worth it, in the slightest.

Bar tender at the catamaran told us it's the best pizza in California. I'd have to agree with him. The hungry surfer was great! Oh, so far it's the only pizza we've had in Cali so.... It was very good tho.😊

Got a pizza and order of onion rings for pick up. The pizza was very good, decent amount of cheese and pepperonis, sauce is a little on the sweeter side. Onions rings weren't the best I've had. A few were super crisp and others a little soggy. Good pizza and service though.

We were out of towners with teens. We searched Yelp, and the Yelpers raved about the pizza. When we arrived we definitely had the oldest (50's) people in this place in our party as well as the youngest (under 21). And the place was packed on a Thursday night with a trivia competition going on. No matter! The service was fantastic! The pizza was really excellent (we got 1/2 hungry surfer - a meat combo - and 1/2 cheese) and we are pizza snobs. A good time was had by all and a good meal. If you aren't in your twenties you are going to feel a bit out of place here, but then again, you are going to know a lot of trivia question answers! Kudos to the waiter who acted like we were a typical group and kept the lemonade refills coming until the food arrived, and to the nice young man who found gray haired mom a barstool. Next time we will dress hipper, but we will definitely come back. And it was just as good the next day too.

We ordered a medium sausage pizza, fries, wine and a beer. Got the wine and beer quickly and the food came shortly after that. We are normally thin crust fans and their crust is on the thick side, surprisingly, the crust was light and the taste was phenomenal! We loved the sausage and sauce they use too. I highly recommend the pizza and fries! Service was friendly and fast. As others have said, it is loud in there, it may have been exceptionally loud because of the AFC Playoff game being on at the time. LOVE this PIZZA!!!

This isn't a dive but more like a corner pizza joint with a casual almost college town atmosphere. The pizza was excellent with a crispy yummy crust. Great ingredients and both standard and unique topping combinations. Reasonable. A definite recommendation.

We visited 5 years ago and then came back a couple months ago when we visited Cali again and this place blew our minds. Loved the new location. Amazing wings and good pizza! This is a must visit if in the San Diego area and in the mood for pizza. Great service and cool vibe too!

they deliver told it would take up to 45 minutes, they were there in 15 min!!. gotta say, this is my new favorite pizza joint. must have eaten there or had delivery at least 5 times while we were in pacific beach on vacation. tons of toppings, great crust and the sauce is awesome, not too spicy, just right. if you're in the area you have to try them.

Do not. It was the worst pizza of our lives. We have eaten a Lot of pizza. This was unequivocally the worst. Ever. Ever! Sorry Sandbox…that took some effort to make it so bad. Holy smokes.

...also my 1st time dealing with Sandbox Pizza. This was for delivery so there's that to consider as well. Delivery guy, he was perfect, food not so. Pizza was not one of their special orders, but was a medium or "Ultra" sized pepperoni with onions. Noticed right away, pizza was very plain tasting. I thought even though I am very very hungry right now, this pizza is very sub-par. Looked for Parmesan & Red Peppers in the condiment bag, no dice. Thought, I'm going to have to actually put salt on this pizza. Noticed doing that was of little help either. So upon closer inspection of the pizza, I saw that the toppings were incredibly scant! Seriously, really really skimpy on everything. Especially cheese, but really everything. Ended up throwing half the crust away because it was robbed to save the other side of the pizza. Ordered "medium-spice" wings which were a very mild medium, but still okay. Cannot say the same for the dressing that came with them though. It was a yucky, oil-based, cheap, sad excuse, for Blue-Cheese. Only came with 2 small containers of that for 14 wings. Also they neglected to include the celery/carrot sticks that come with wings. Now onto the salad. Got 2 Caesar Salads which where quite good but again very skimpy with the dressing. Only one small container per. Now the worst part. For 1 medium, two-topping pizza, 2 side Caesar Salads, & 14 wings, I paid $50 plus $10 dollar to the delivery guy! So needless to say, I paid a lot of money for a very sub-par, dissatisfying meal. Did not live up to reviews and or photos. Maybe dining in is a whole other experience but their delivery was pretty much terrible from the condiments or lack thereof and sorry quality, to the Pizza which is supposedly their specialty (also no forks, napkins, no red peppers or no Parmesan).

This spot was recommended by some friends who had been to San Diego earlier in June. There were not lying when they said it was delicious! Everything was so good. All we had was pizza and wings, but both were amazing. The teriyaki wings were cooked to perfection and crispy on the outside. It was brought with ranch or blue cheeses, and we took ranch. Also served with carrots and celery. The pizza was great also. We ordered a pizza with sausage, chicken, and bacon (maybe one more meat? I think meatballs). It was very tasty and the rust as so good!

My husband and I went to the Sandbox for beer and pizza. We had the Belgian style Lil Devil ale and shared a Pesto Punk Pizza and a wedge salad. The pizza had chicken and artichoke hearts and was smothered in rich pesto sauce and cheese. The salad had two big wedges of lettuce with bacon, tomato, cucumber and feta cheese. Both were rich and plentiful and most satisfying. The place was booking. There was a big crowd of young people celebrating a birthday, there were families with little kids, a couple of older couples, and the atmosphere was friendly and noisy. There were several TV screens showing various ball games. The service was quick and attentive and the prices most reasonable. Apart from salads and pizzas, there were calzones and a variety of appetizers and a great selection of beers, both draft and bottled.

We came for lunch using Google's hours instead of Trip Advisor's (they have delivery hours listed). We had a pepperoni pizza, a Hungry Surfer and a Caesar salad. Best pizza of our California trip. Place is hip with lots of good music playing and sports on the screens. Glad we took a chance and came by for lunch. Trip Advisor fix this place's hours!!!!!

Cool, chill vibe with fun music and really good food. Both pizza and appetizer were great and the prices totally reasonable!

We were in San Diego for the holiday at Pacific Beach and wanted something to eat. The Sandbox was a great find. The pizza and wings were really good. The beer selection was good also. We watched Die Hard on the TV's and enjoyed that.

Just finished wings and a pizza and we were very pleasantly surprised! While some of the wings were a little small, the taste was excellent (we had the hot BBQ - just the right amount of BBQ and heat). We also wanted to have a different kind of pizza and opted for the Thai.dal wave - which had chicken, a Thai peanut sauce and some peanuts. The crust was really good. The menu is large with lots of options. Definitely worth a visit.

The pizza here is excellent. I had the medium sized Ultra which would be a large at most places My Sandbox Sangria was delicious. Service was fast from Christina who had the nicest smile and pleasantness. Sandbox was crowded and now I know why.

Family holiday in San Diego after a busy day wanted a brilliant take away and they stepped up. Great food, worth paying the extra and timely delivery. Couldn’t fault.

Pizza and other food were delicious. I tried Hawaii-5 OMG drink was amazing. Kids loved it too. service was mediocre seemed like waitress was having bad day but Hey who knows if she is still there!!!

We came here on our way back from sea world. We ordered the 5-0 and it was incredible. Hit the spot and was exactly what we needed. We checked in on yelp and also got a few off. The dough was so tasty. We also got the wings, they were a bit spicey but good for those (me) who could handle it. The rest of the fam crushed the pizza. Delicious!

I've ordered both the vegetarian signature pies, Tree Hugger and North Cove, and loved both. I also tried the Comber Combo, without meat, which was a little less flavorful since I modified it, but still delicious pizza. Honestly, their toppings menu is so extensive that I've given up on that list and skipped straight to the signature pie menu every time. The beer selection is good (as expected, it's San Diego) and overall, the prices are really reasonable! There are a few beer options at $3.50, including their featured beer, and happy hour and late night specials every night of the week. I was amazed the first night I went and two of us split a 10" pizza + two featured beers for only $20. Regarding sizes, the signature 10" pies are filling enough to split between two people. However, Sandbox won't do half toppings on that size, so we've ordered the 14" a couple times and either had leftovers or ate until we were stuffed just because it was in front of us. My last comment is about the atmosphere: I suspect their business is primarily take out/delivery because the restaurant is never too crowded. Between the excellent service, TouchTunes and sports on TV, I love hanging out at this bar when I'm not in the mood for the usual PB chaos.

My husband and I wanted a pizza and watch the football game and by going to Sandbox we were served well with very good pizza and a live trivia game happening at the same time as the game on the screens. Fun times!

We went to the Sandbox for pizza and beer and sat outside. The pizza was delicious and the enclosed outdoor seating area was upbeat and lively.

Sandbox is tucked way a little from the street and the busier areas of Pacific Beach which makes it the perfect neighborhood pizza place. It offers a fair selection of beers, both bottled and on rotating taps, great calzones and wonderful pizza. Our pizza was the Buttermilk Bliss (without the garlic which doesn’t play well in my stomach) and we completely enjoyed it. It was a nice departure from the “overwhelmed with tomato sauce” standard of many pizza restaurants and a delight for the taste buds. We share a 10” version and accompanied it with the buffalo wings with the medium cause and felt like the meal was just right for 2 people. We look forward to returning.

We went looking for good pizza in PB and the Sandbox didn't disappoint. I wish we were staying here longer, we would definitely go back!

I was able to try Sandbox pizza late last year during December when I visited my girlfriend for new years eve. I went on a Tuesday which luckily is there half off pizza day, I was unaware of this so it was a pleasant surprise. We ordered a few drinks off the happy hour which was delightful and got some appetizers to go (Breadsticks). There is outdoor and indoor seating along with a bar and multiple televisions to watch your favorite sporting events. I would highly recommend checking out Sandbox Pizza!

We are not from around San Diego but had been in town for my graduation. We stopped at this place not knowing what it was but seen that it had great reviews. The pizza was amazing and the waitress was perfect! She made use feel comfortable and was on top of everything we needed and she was very friendly. We are from Pennsylvania and this pizza was literally the best we ever had! A must stop! The place is small but it has the best pizza and the nicest waitresses

This place is a great hangout for pizza and beer. Added bonus was trivia night. It was a fun time for dinner and drinks.

my husband and I tried this place out and really liked it! the pizza options are creative and delicious. we didn't wait long for our food at all and the service was great! there are TVs on every wall so a great place to watch a game and they have fuse ball and games to play while waiting. Definitely worth a shot!

I was not disappointed in my visit to SandBox Pizza. The location is convenient to Mission Beach, just a few blocks away. The atmosphere is very laid back and fun, with a jukebox, lots of TVs, you seat yourself. Service was good, not too overbearing but attentive enough. The food itself was good! My wife and I shared a Buttermilk Bliss, and a Greek Salad. It was more than enough for the both of us. Neither blew my socks off, but both tasted great and I wasn’t disappointed. I would recommend Sandbox to anyone looking for an easy bite to eat at a fair price.

Ordered a delivery from here, said it would be 45 minutes but arrived in 20. Pizzas were excellent, Hawaii with pepperoni was the star, though my other half would argue for the chicken Thai. Now need to visit this place in person, especially now they sell beer.

Everything at our stay in SD has been positive until we went to eat dinner here. Me and my mom sat outside, looked over menus, waited patiently. Waitress saw us, but looked like she was having a bad day and never came to help us. A few guys at the bar saw us too and nothing. Read reviews on this place and we were excited to go. We waited 15 mins...seemed much longer.. and nothing. So, we left. Felt like no one wanted to serve us, and they were not that busy on a Tues at 6:45.

The pizza was wonderful! We chose it from Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. The hand made crust and spicy marinara sauce made for a great pizza. We ordered the Hawaii-50 and a custom pepperoni with mushrooms from a mobile phone, which was so easy. They also delivered it!

Their wings are the best. It won for best in San Diego. It’s a dry rub but they have tons of sauces. The pizzas are not bad and the drinks are tasty.

Few hundred yards up Grand from the beach, this place does not disapppoint. pizza is the chef's specialty, and he does it very, very well. If wussy pizza is your desire, go someplace else. Good food, good staff, great location.

sportsbar type atmosphere with many tv's to watch sports. They were very friendly and welcoming. The guy that helped us (I'm sorry I can't remember your name) was so helpful and patient with me, he even helped me check in on Yelp so I could get few dollars off my order. We ordered the Buttermilk Bliss pizza which was fantastic! My husband hates chicken on his pizza but he loved this one ( maybe because it had bacon also) . Great crust! Highly recommend.

We were hungry and did not feel like going out. We ordered delivery and they were very fast and the food was some of the best pizza I have eaten in San Diego.

After a long day of travel, we checked into our hotel. The hotel recommended Sandbox. The delivery time was good. The pizza was overpriced for the quality.
