Dallas Trip

By Samer H |

Good info regarding the JFK assassination. Some restrictions due to covid though but overall a good experience.

If you're in a pinch

By Julio F |

Nothing special and very pricey. Perhaps if it were cheaper the review would be better. Not any better than a Subway.

Helpful staff

By Rhi M |

Happy and helpful staff, but it really is just a small coffee/quick drink kinda place rather than anything more nutritious! Handy for their chilled water - Dallas was hot!

Resting spot

By David D |

This is a neat little cafe that allows you to take a break in your exploration of Dealey Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum. They offer light fare, drinks and ice cream. The best part is being able to take a load off your feet. Pricey.

Very Handy

By WindsorP |

After a visit to the Sixth Floor Museum,a handy little spot for a coffee pick me up,and a snack.Just across the street fro the museum, and the gift shop has some nice items connected with the area and JFK,but some of the items are a bit kitsch.

Across the street from the book depository

By LittleRedBaron |

Had to cross the street to use the bathroom in the museum - of which there is only one on the ground floor in the gift shop!

Small and convenient

By Carol J |

Went into café after touring the museum (well worth a visit-great audio tour). Hottest cup of tea in the whole of USA! Made with hot water-not the luke warm stuff you get at most places. Small selection of things to eat but adequate.

$18 ea. Really good and interesting. Self-guided audio was good. Opens at 9 am. Take the elevator to the six floor after you purchase your tickets. Don’t forget to take the stairs up to the seventh floor to have a look around there

Late sandwich

By 766traveler |

It was 2:30 PM before I stopped sightseeing and finally got a bite of lunch. Only a few sandwiches were left. I chose chicken salad and it was delicious. Tasty bread!

Nice little stop

By Amy R |

Nothing special but a nice little museum shop with a small coffee, sandwich and snack shop. Very friendly personnel!

Small but adequate place to rest and refresh with limited food and drink.

By devnprt1 |

Good opportunity to emotionally regroup for some and to share thoughts and feelings about reliving Kennedy's assassination.

Great historical experience!

By Mona M |

I visited this historical museum as I was always fascinated by President John Kennedy and the facts about his untimely death. The place was just awesome, full of information and photos along with movie clips. All this made a visit that was rich with the history!! Was just blown away by it all! A must see for history buffs and people who are fascinated by President John F Kennedy!!

Excellent cafe

By Brian M |

The cafe is very good. The staff are very efficient and the coffee is excellent. Well worth a visit if you are visiting the museum.

It;s accross the street in the old Dal_Tex building

By Timothy H |

Very limited menu, Also has a souvenir shop and books but none that might be "controversial" Decent coffee,

Best Ice Cream!

By Mary S |

Stopped here for a snack after viewing the museum. Very pleasant and the staff was exceptional. Ice cream was delicious!

Best Praline Ice Cream

By Liz771977 |

If you are in the area you must stop in and try the Tesas Parline Ice Cream. The best I have tasted. Both my mom and I got a scoop and it was about $8. A little pricey but worth it.

Average museum cafe

By sophia g |

This is the cafe that is located across the street from the sixth floor museum in the gift shop. They have a variety of snacks with fairly decent prices on drinks and snacks. It was very cold when we visited and it was nice to go and get a hot drink real quick before we visited the museum. *tip: The museum does not allow food or drink! so make sure you finish before entering!

Much to see here.

By marciasturtevant |

This was across the street... has many things you can purchase along w/ a nice cafe while you browse inside, outside etc. there are lots of signs outside to show exactly where everything took place. Buy tickets ahead of time esp. on a holiday weekend. Parking is a lot and no street parking so, $10 a hr every place we went to and they are monitored by your ticket.

Basic and expensive

By Yvonne B |

We were quite surprised to see about 6 tables set up like a work canteen at the back of the gift shop and were even more surprised to be charged $13+ for 2 basic coffees and 2 small ice creams. Very little choice of food. The guy behind the counter was excellent and totally wasted in there. Goods in the gift shop were also expensive. Would not visit again, there are plenty of little places including a pretty good Subway just up the street.

Quick snack

By Melissa M |

Inside the second gift shop. They have snacks and beverages. Some pre-made sandwiches and ice cream. Good spot for a snack after the museum. Gift shop is kind of neat and has things above and beyond the kennedys.

Gluten free snack options

By DOC2003 |

We stopped into the cafe after the museum tour for a snack and to my delight they had gluten free products. The staff was great, atmosphere is very hip yet inviting. If you are expecting a full lunch menu, this is not your place (4 options.) If you want a quick snack, stop in!

Bland Experience

By David190343 |

Perhaps we expected too much after visiting the excellent Sixth Floor Museum. The food was OK but not memorable.

Avoid

By MomDtr |

We only wanted a cold drink and a snack but first we had to get the attention of the young lady who had apparently been relegated to server for the café. She seemed rather disinterested in serving us, not even making eye contact. We got our order and found a table (there aren't many) and when we looked back she was gone. She did not reappear for awhile. She seemed so unmotivated when she was behind the counter. I would recommend that if you can find another place to eat...go there! The food is overpriced but the location is good if you've just toured Dealy Plaza or the Book Depository.

What a way to turn history around!

By YYZWanderlust X |

This museum/event venue is the very spot where President Kennedy was shot however it has been transformed into a lovely museum and event venue. My company hosted our awards dinner at this venue and it was lovely. The set up was excellent, the staff was attentive and the exhibit was available for us to browse.

Great ice cream

By Brian J |

After touring the 6th floor walk across the street an enjoy the ice cream. Gift shop has the same stuff as museum gift shop

Convenient

By DifromBrisbane |

I bought a book about the museum while I waited for the Museum to open and sat and read this and had a drink. Limited menu. Nothing special about the Cafe.

Great Food

By Mlee26 |

The waitress, who also cooked eggs for breakfast, went out of her way to make us happy. I also had a great chicken salad sandwich with nuts and cranberries. It is connected to the museum shop which is across the street from the 6th Floor Museum. For a quick stop, the food was excellent, as was the service!

Just a book store cafe across from the museum.

By Dan R |

It is just a bookstore across from the museum. They have smoothies, drinks and snacks sold to you by totally unenthusiastic employees. The drinks were cold and pricey but it was a hot and humid day.

good view

By Graham w |

Needed a coffee after touring the Museum and this café has a good view of building where JFK shot, and a newsreel film to enjoy while drinking said coffee..

Nice wait and warm up spot

By TravelerEdie |

We stopped in here after our walking tour before we went into the Sixth Floor Museum. It was a nice spot to get warm since it was freezing outside. We had cocoa (and it was great!). The seating area is really small. There is also a nice bookstore with some intersting items.

Ice cream wasn't that great

By Aholland17 |

The ice cream I had was boring. No flavor. I was having some heat intolerance issues and needed the cool down. It was expensive too.

Relaxing Place to Eat Lunch but Small

By Andie |

The Cafe is a nice place to relax after a visit to the museum, but it was small with not much seating.

A great little shop

By Buxtonworld |

Lots of memorabilia , you can sit in the cafe and watch movie clips. A nice little place for a coffe and a rest

By redf0rdd0gs |

Great gifts & good food & drink

By Adam W |

This has some great gifts about JFK & the food & drink is excellent with great staff. You can book tickets here for the sixth floor museum.

Lots of info, pics, and artifacts from the death of JFK

By BostonBabeBoston_MA |

If your going to check out the grassy knoll, you must stop here and get info you might not of heard of before.

Great little cafe inside a gift shop.

By Tiffany O |

This is a great little spot to stop in while seeing the sites. Homemade soups and sandwiches go hand in hand with a great selection of smoothies and teas.Top it off with a hand dipped ice cream cone. Nice place to relax while you watch the busy streets outside.

Good visit after the museum

By Reillys1013 |

Offers a nice break (snacks, drinks, etc.) after the main museum. Plenty of books on JFK that can be viewed leisurely. A nice rest stop.

Go for the chocolate COOKIE!

By edmondite |

The cafe is located within a souvenir store across from the museum. There's not a lot to choose from, but the location is nice. I also found out you can buy museum admission tickets here. The line for buying tickets was very long at the museum, so I came over to eat and wait until the line was shorter. I went ahead and ate lunch. The turkey wrap was $12 and basic. The worker did warm it up for me when asked. The chocolate cookie was delicious! She also warmed that up for me. Best cookie I've had in a long time!

Great coffee but limited menu

By Pachkilo |

You will need a coffee after the tour and this is a great place for that. It does however have a limited menu but good for a snack though. Staff were friendly and I dont think the place was over-priced. There is also a gift store too.

Great gift shop!

By Pam K |

We went in and bought some souvenirs and books about JFK. Great little cafe where we rested a little as well.

Toffee Pecan Ice Cream

By annemacmillan |

Stopped here before going to the JFK Museum..The Toffee Pecan Ice Cream was really yummy, lots of Pecan bits..

nice place to relax

By ElaineandJim A |

very limited on food. Sandwiches are prepackaged. The ice cream is very good. It is a good place to sit and relax, there is a photo show while you sit.

Strangely not in the sixth floor museum building

By Simon Y |

This cafe is strangely not in the Sixty floor museum building but over the road from it. It is however a welcome place to have a cafe because much of the tour around the museum requires a lot of walking and you feel very hot and tired after all that walking. There wasn't really a big range of food available when we visited the cafe, but there was plenty of range of drinks. The cafe is also very small but nevertheless it wasn't busy so we easily got a seat.

Quick snack

By Patrick O |

We did not have a lot of time before our tour time started so we just had ice cream cones. They do not have a large selection but of what they have you will find something you like unless you want surbert.

Small and conpsct

By Niki E |

It was great to get a hot chai late and simple but fresh yummy cookie before the museum. The wait staff were so friendly and kind. Small menu but child friendly. Clean!!! Loved the giftware although a bit expensive.

A memorable visit

By June Derrick |

The museum was open for 4 hours on thanksgiving day as it was the 55th anniversary of the death of JFK. It's a well displayed and informed museum for all ages. Some artifacts were a big surprise and added to this memorable visit. The queuing system for entry and buying tickets needs attention. It's confusing and not efficient. Staff were friendly and helpful and I look forward to visiting again.

Lunch at the 6th Floor Cafe

By Virg4422 |

This cafe is right across the street from the museum. Food is limited but good. There also is a book and gift store in the cafe.

YOU'LL NEED A COFFEE AFTER THE EXHIBITION!

By Christy_Luv2 |

Well maintained and the staff are friendly and chatty. Coffee was lovely and very welcome following our 2-hour tour of the exhibition. THANK YOU!

Snack after the tour

By MommaRose2016 |

I think calling this a Café is a little over the top. They have a cooler with a few pre-made sandwiches, ice cream (which looked good), drinks (hot and cold), and snacks. Our chicken sandwich was not really good and overpriced. However, it is a great place for a short rest and the gift shop is great.

Convenient

By medwards415 |

We were waiting for our trolly tour and this cafe was a great place to visit to get out of the heat and enjoyed a cool drink and a slice.

A realistic look at history

By Marlen A |

Museum located at the Book Depository Building you can view historical documents, artifacts, digital recordings of the tragic assassination of President J. F. Kennedy and L. A. Oswald documentary pieces. You can stand in by the window where the shooter aimed at the President and reflect on all evidence provided. Don't miss going downstairs to the Grassy Knoll area where there were witnesses that a second shooter was seen in this area.

Great way to wait for our trolley tour

By toadsoup |

As a visitor to Dallas, there was not much in way of finding a good cafe/restaurant near the Dealey Plaza, so we tried the 6th Floor Museum Cafe. Nice gift shop/museum and a very small, but tasty selection of sandwiches.

Rude and forgetful

By culehmann |

After seeing the museum, we stopped by for a coffee and chai. My wife when ordering asked for a water. She never got the water. So, 15 min later I sent my son to get it. He was charged a dollar for the water. When I confronted the staff, I was told that it was our fault for sending the wrong person back. First, who charges for water? Second, who argues with customers?

Cafe

By Anne M |

We had a refreshment here - best bit was the multi tv wall showing JFK footage and the gift shop! not great for a meal - but OK for coffee/cool drink

Mexican Vanilla ice cream!!

By Skyler H |

I had 2 kinds of ice cream, the Tex Pralines ice cream was just ok, but the Mexican Vanilla ice cream was some of the best ice cream I've ever had!

Good

By rockrock9 |

Its a good place to grap a quick bite while downtown, store attached, sandwiches, yogurt , fruit, chips, soda, just something to tide you over, or a lite lunch. Pretty good and handy

An average but convenient cafe

By Don50VailAZ |

The service was good. The food was average. Ice tea was excellent. My major complaint and low rating stem from the way my wife's food was provided. She was given her soup and 7-8 minutes later her bag get was delivered. By this time what was left of her soup was cold. They stated that they had to warm up the baggett. The soup and the baggett should have been delivered when the baggett was warm.

Average

By kohkoh |

We stopped by to buy some tickets for the Museum. We decided to have two coffees, the lady who served us seemed a bit disinterested but took our order. The service was slow and two people who ordered after us were served first and she then added our coffees to their order. I went to their table to,get our order.

Best Smoothie in the world

By SFTRVLR |

My friend got a smoothie in the cafe here and he said, not joking, that it was the best smoothie he has ever had in his life. Will take his word for it! Otherwise, this seemed like a very small basic cafe at the back of the gift shop. It was an interesting gift shop that was very stylized and seemed newly built. Was an interesting and somewhat quizzical assortment of merchandise- not all had to do with JFK- had some kids games and stuff that seemed a bit out of place.

Lovely ice cream and service

By Dinky66 |

We visited on a very hot afternoon and enjoyed the lovely ice cream served by a delightful young assistant. A limited but good range of items available.

bit expensive but plenty to eat and drink

By Caron R |

plenty of snacks here, hot beverages NO alcohol, cold soft drinks, rolls /cakes etc, best to have food before entering, seating area quite small, toilet facilities<NO photo graph on;y in selected areas

Stay away if your not an AMERICAN tourist! Disgusted by racist staff!

By Booza21 |

We attended the cafe on the 27th December 2014. We had bought on line tickets to the sixth floor museum and were excited to see it, so much so we had shown up a little bit too early. We had 9:30am tickets and saw that the cafe opened at 9am. Coming from Australia we had not dressed as appropriately as locals and couldn't wait for the cafe to open. As we waited outside we got talking to other tourits (from the USA and Japan), we saw the clock tick over 9am and towards 9:20am. We were standing outside almost blue we were so cold, yet the young staff stood inside joking amongst themselves until one rolled her eyes and walked to the door and opened up for business. We immediately made our way to the cafe area of the store and placed an order that totalled about 6 or 7 dollars, greeting the young female employee behinf the counter with an Australin "Gday". My girlfriend offered to pay for the coffee's with a $20 note. Upon offering it to the, the employee stated "I cant take that, I cant break a 20". A few seconds past as my girlfriend fumbled through her bag for a smaller denomination as the employee stated "we just opened guys, like what the hell" before rolling her eyes again. I was a little confused about this, I thought most businesses carry floats so they can supply change to customers. I put this employees behaviour down to her having a bad day and paid for our drinks with a $10 (that was snatched out of my hand). After this we waited for our order, we saw the Japanese tourists we were just speaking with place an order. After this 2 Americans entered and placed 2 individual orders. Shortly after the second American gentleman placed his order I saw the Japanese tourists begin to use a machine that turned a penny into a souvenir penny. I also saw upon entering the cafe large signs reading "NO PHOTOGRAPHY". I then heard the same young female employee scream at the Japanese tourists "NO PHOTOS", wave her finger and make a camera clicking gesture. The employee then turned to the Americans waiting for there orders and made a racist joke before pointing at the Japanese tourists and laughing. After this another American entered the cafe and placed his order. I then saw the first American man collect his order, then the second, then the third. Then some time past as the young male barista shared a joke with the young female employee. Then finally the Japanese tourists received their order, before we received ours. All be it our accent is hard sometimes to understand but both our orders were wrong but we didn't dare say anything. We then left and went on to see a very emotional, professionally set out and interesting museum. I could not believe that I had witnessed such prejudice inside a cafe of a museum dedicated to JFK. If only the young frmale employee knew the tourist from Japan were also American citizens. It was such a shame to see such racism, nowhere else in the USA did I encounter or witness any such discrimination. As JFK said: "It ought to be possible for American consumers of any colour to receive equal service in places of public accommodations, such as hotels and restaurants and theatres and retail stores, without being forced to resort to demonstrations in the street"

yummy, romantic and beautiful

By drsheryl |

we sat outside on the balcony (it was cloudy when we arrived and we had the whole balcony to ourselves) and the sun shone through while we were eating. What a bonus when it's now snowing here in toronto!! The food was very good and beautifully prepared and the staff were very nice.

Good for a quick stop

By Andy3121 |

A short order kitchen menu. Good coffee and the bagel was just what I needed. Fresh sandwiches are available daily.

Good place to wait

By Bonny F |

Waited for our grandson to finish seeing the 6th Street Museum. WiFi available so we were able to get on the net and surf. This also has a gift shop pertaining to the museum. Coffee and snacks

With almost everything you need (to know) before or after your visit

By uss_yorktown |

They have interesting books and souvenirs. There is a little food section with a big screen TV where they show some (old) footage. Good if you are too early on a hot day.

Nice place, expensive food

By Rajan65 |

Had come expecting some nice hot food after the cool of the Museum. Had an inviting feel - but the service was noncommittal (orders taken and then she pointed us to the sandwiches!). The price at around $10 per sandwich was exorbitant - and simply not worth the price.

bookstore and cafe next to "6th floor museum"

By Tanya W |

a good variety of books about JFK and Jackie. from the cafe you have a ground floor view of the tragic motorcade route

Minute by Minute account of the Assassination of John F. Kennedy

By Steven G |

Having lived through that weekend in November, 1963, I was very skeptical that one place could bring this history into focus so we may have a better understanding of the event that radically changed American History. It's all here. The Lone gunman, the conspiracy theories, the suspects, the science of trajectory and all the implications this murder caused. I looked out the window of the former Texas School Book Depository Building and it all came back in a flash. This was the place that put everything into perspective.

Pricey food

By lucsimsthomas |

This place has expensive food that is not very good. We should have went to the Subway up the street. But if you are in a hurry and just want a bite of food as part of your day at Dealey Plaza, it beats going hungry.

Overpriced and poor selection

By Bruce P |

Market Street is two blocks away with a host of restaurants, albeit mainly chains, that offer better food and better prices.

Convenient place - good coffee

By FINDER22 |

We went here as we had booked early for the Sixth Floor Museum. Usual place associated with an attraction, but the coffee - real cappuccino was a good start. Interesting books, etc to check out whilst you wait.

Place to Browse

By dasiguy |

Located just across the street from the Book Depository Building. You will find a varied assortment of souvenirs, books, shirts, etc. The cafe in the back is great for a bit of refreshment. The facilities are very clean and staff welcoming

Great Gift Shop with Snacks and Memoribilia

By RikiUSA |

The Sixth Floor Museum Café is on the first floor across the street from the Sixth Floor Museum. This is really a gift shop with souvenirs and great posters. This is really a time trip back to the sixties, with sixties t-shirts with peace signs! As far as the café, we were going to have lunch. I don't want to discourage visitors to the gift shop, but this is not a café for lunch. Great stop for a snack and a break to sit and relax.
