BBQ on Division St

By westsidehb |

If you go to Smoke Daddy you have to get the nachos to start. These are the best nachos I have had. I ordered The Daddy, which is ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and 2 sides. It's a lot of food and very good. They even found a BBQ sauce for me that wasn't at the table. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. I will definitely be going to Smoke Daddy the next time I'm in Chicago.

Fabulous! KC Burnt Ends! Yum!

By hatetoflySFbayArea |

I don’t get to that much BBQ these days, but this is the only time I’ve seen burnt ends on a menu outside of Kansas City. I don’t want to start a debate about which is better, but just to have them available is major! They have other nifty dishes like smoked chicken and vegetable soup, which was a little spicy but generally very good, as were the nachos. I also had the vegetarian (no ham) collard greens, but they were REALLY TOUGH.

I have never liked bbq until this place

By amandarcly |

I love the pulled pork sandwich. WILL constantly drive from the burbs for this place. The food is amazing! Try the sweet potato fries and sangria too!

Ribs & Beer

By mydiratb |

We visited as a family for ribs and beer. It was closed season for the baseball and we stayed locally for the marathon. Wrigleyville is a great place. We were seated upstairs and the windows were open, giving great nighttime views of Wrigley Field stadium. There were a couple of guys singing some really good music and it was generally a relaxed environment. Service was top. We ordered a variety of food, mainly ribs. The chef came out and told us he was out of certain food but told us he could do other food instead and mix it up a bit. This was great and we were not disappointed. The location means you pay a couple of bucks more here than you would further north in bars, but this food was fresh and filling. A good selection of beers too! Overall, a decent place to eat or just drink. I imagine it to be busy on game day. We visited on a weeknight and it was ideal.

Serious BBQ and More

By tri_man11 |

Smoke Daddy is one of those interesting combinations that is difficult to find; that is a casual neighborhood place with great food and an atmosphere that is just as good for lunch or dinner as it is for catching the big game on the many TV's. The interior is set up so you have the choice of the bar, tables, a booth or a high top; which ever fits your mood. The food great, all the smoked meats are excellent and you have a choice of three of their own custom BBQ sauces. They have a great selection of sides and salads and craft beers as well. On our many visits, service has always been attentive and friendly. If you are looking for a place to try some excellent on premise BBQ meats in a comfortable well run environment, look no further.

Good food, questionable service.

By Shigamm |

The food was good with nice flavours throughout our meals. We were left at times and had to wait for drinks a couple of times as we were unsure where our waitress was. We even had to ask for cutlery!

If You Can't Get To Texas For BBQ, Eat Here

By Bruce W |

We've had BBQ in places famous for BBQ - the Carolinas, Texas, Oklahoma and elsewhere. Smoke Daddy BBQ compares favorably to BBQ we've had down South. We had ribs, rib tips, burnt ends, brisket and sides. It's good. Not quite as good as BBQ we've had in the hills of the Carolinas and Texas, but enjoyable. We go to Chicago a lot and we will return to Smoke Daddy.

Good salad

By Norgesturist2020 |

Great place to watch a game and have a good meal. We had a salad and some nachos with pulled meat. Large portions with good food, and a very helpful waitress.

Disappointing and Dry.

By Jorrell |

Disappointing in general. I ordered the ribs sampler. They were out of tips so they gave me the St. Louis ribs and the baby back ribs. The ribs were very dry, leaning towards burnt. Honestly i couldn't eat them. The sauces were good and the sides were fine.

Amazing food and great Music

By raftiny |

I have tried many bbq restaurants and I always come back to Smoke Daddy. They serve a great each and every time. The bbq ribs are delicious. I always have a tough time deciding what sides I want to get because they are all so good. My favorites are the mac n' cheese or the corn bread. They have live music every night that adds to the atmosphere. I really enjoy this neighborhood place. I have stopped trying the new trendy bbq places because they fail in comparison to this gem.

Great BBQ Find

By Dave G |

A friend and I landed at this place randomly after walking around the area looking for a restaurant. Glad we did! The beer selection is excellent, and they really know what they're doing when it comes to beer. The servers know and understand the beers, they handle the beers well, and they serve the beers with expertise. Although it is not obvious from the outside, this is one of the best smoked meats/BBQ places around. Their smoked meats and BBQ are absolutely outstanding, and the side dishes are very well executed. (Like all of the best BBQ places, the baked beans are the killer side dish!) The next time I fly to Chicago, this is where I am going for dinner!

OMG....

By glipham |

This is one of the best BBQ restaurants I have ever been too! The food was excellent, the staff was excellent. I will definitely be going back again. The waitress, Penny, was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions on things to try. We were not disappointed in any of the food. Let me warn you though, unless you have a tremendous appetite you could probably order one of the platters and share it between two people! The pimento cheese hush puppies were amazing! Even if you think you don't like pimento cheese, I promise you, you will love these! Also, if you like Key Lime pie then give there's a try. It's one of the best Key Lime pies I've ever had. It's worth a trip out to Division Street for this gem. Don't miss it if your in the city!

Very good brisket for brunch.

By HoyasHC |

I took my wife and 2 boys (3yoa) and 5(yoa) to Smoke Daddy for some brisket for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and they all enjoyed the food. This was our second visit(sept 2015)... So obviously we enjoyed it previously, also there for brunch. I had the smoked brisket sandwich this time as did my wife and used a couple of the sauces they have available. On the previous visit I had the smoked pulled pork sandwich and it was also delicious. The boys shared the French toast and had some of my brisket which my 5yoa enjoyed. The server was great she did a very good job with us. The only regret is I didn't try the Bloody Mary, quite a few people were ordering them and they looked quite good. We will definitely be back...

Cold Dry Barbecue that’s had had a lot to be desired.

By limeyguy |

Long wait outside sitting at the table. When finally took the order the food came cold. The fries some of which were just above freezing. The ribs were cold and dry. The pull pork while tasty was cold and seemed to have been reheated then left to sit on a serving counter. The brisket also was cold dry and chewy. The best thing was the baked beans and Mac cheese which would have been the best part of the meal was also cold. Very disappointing for a place that I heard was good.

Great Food, even greater for meeting with friends.

By mkay57 |

The place changed since the mid 90's but still had the same great ribs and service. It's smokey tasting fall off the bone ribs. The extra room they added on is a great place to meet friends. We had a large party and took over 4 tables and it was perfect because when with a large group you don't want to be stuck at a table and not be able to socialize and eat. You can't really make reservations to reserve these bar tables but if your smart you can nab them early. The outside is a great space too. Live Music in the old space is always a plus.

decent bbq

By terri828 |

The have great servers, decent bbq and a large selection of beers, worth a trip if you are a fan of the smoked meats!

Late lunch after vintage shopping

By Hans E |

We were shop hopping at Milwaukee avenue and ended up here by the advice of a local man. We ate a huge meal with so tasty smoked spare ribs, well grilled 1/2 chicken, two different kind of pulled meat, corn bread etc... They had a special offer of Texas Lone star beer. Great service as well. Step in!

Loved it!

By meadrooney |

Live music was awesome. Ribs were excellent, service was on point. Just a really good experience with solid food. Highly recommend!

Great sandwich at a good price

By lathamt |

We went to Smoke Daddy before a Cubs game. We wound up sitting at the bar because it was pretty crowded. There was a live band playing blues music and that was phenomenal! We ordered pulled pork sandwiches that came with one side and was $10. We couldn't get food this good for a price that low at the game. It was a fun place with great food!

Smoked meat heaven!

By Rita R |

Started off with a bloody mary ... with a chunk of brisket in it! Something told me I was in the right place. The combo platter of brisket and Paulina hot link was terrific. Loved the choice of house-made sauces available on the table. Even the cole slaw was fantastic--the cilantro is a good addition.

Chi Town BBQ

By Hoots_312 |

This place is great. Tons of Tap/Craft Beer. Meat and sides are just killer. Love this place. Might even walk in on some live entertainment. In the mood for BBQ? Hit this spot

Good BBQ

By Tanya T. |

We ordered food to go since seating in restaurant is not available. I thought the BBQ beans had a nice smokey flavor (it also had chunks of BBQ). The sauces were tasty and sweet, the meat is cooked to a nice tender pull with a slight amount of resistance. I thought the mac and cheese flavor was unique --- it had a rich, queso flavor. We thought the meats were very good. We liked the food but would not go out of the way for it.

Ribs

By Danw973 |

Son had an appetite for ribs. Got a look at the menu and we opted for a platter. Two half racks of ribs, half pound of pulled pork, half pound of beef brisket and a half rotisserie chicken plus a choice of 3 sides. Chose sweet potato fries, baked beans and coleslaw. No problem for 2 Wisconsinites to destroy.

Some of the best burgers in Chicago

By N M |

I've loved Smoke Daddy for about 5 years now, even when they're inconsistent with delivery (at least they're great about correcting mistakes), and I've NEVER had an issue when dining in. The burgers are always cooked to perfection, the mac n cheese is some of the best I've ever tasted, I love the sweet potato fries, pulled meat nachos, and so much more....great portions, friendly staff, and I really like the live music and expanded patio. I'm not so much a fan of all the newer tvs and the more sports-bar atmosphere it's developed in the past few years and I liked that the burgers used to come with any side you chose as opposed to just fries, but at least the fries are excellent. At least they still have specials 3 nights/week (I think it used to be 4 nights/week)! As long as half price burger night is a thing and the mac n cheese is the best in town, I will always return!

Great BBQ!

By Becky M |

This place is awesome if you want great BBQ food - def recommend the ribs and smoked meats! The food was super tasty, reasonably priced and the staff were great too! Def worth a visit!

Average Overpriced Food, but the Server was great.

By Trinette T |

I went in the early evening. The brisket was dried out. The chicken was dried out, but put into some liquid to moisten it, but it was still dried out. The rib tips has some pieces that were hard and dry. The flavor was good, but meat was dried out. The skinny french fries were bad. I threw them out. The coleslaw was a mixture of red and green cabbage. It has a slightly spicy taste without much dressing. I rate that as okay. I prefer a creamier slaw. The best thing I purchased was the pimento hush puppies. Those were great tasting. They were like big popper filled with creamy cheese and little batter. Just delicious. I ordered a lot of food for takeout. I think they are way overpriced for the small portions they served. Some restaurants shortchange takeout orders. Maybe that was the case here, but not matter the amount, the food just wasn't very good, except those hush puppies

Live Music, Cheap Drinks, Amazing BBQ!

By Veigapa16 |

We had a great time at Smokey Daddy's last night in Wicker Park. There was a live band playing throughout the night who rocked some great covers of Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaugnn, etc The drinks are surprisingly affordable here! All of the craft beers I ordered were $6 and the cocktails my friends were ordering, including the Double Manhattan, were $9. We split two platters and a few extra sides among us which was plenty of food. Meats were all fantastic, except the chicken which had an excellent flavor but some parts were dry. Sides were all incredible too, including the collard greens layered in garlic. Top 3 BBQ in Chicago!

Great bbq

By windycity20 |

The bbq baby back ribs are awesome.Great smoked in taste. Casual atmosphere, a large drink menu and reasonably priced.Great service also. Had a blues band playing also. There is outside eating too. I highly recommend Smoke Daddy's.

Lunch Visit

By Aerowing |

A friend and I came here for lunch. They are taking all safety measures during the Covid virus which is a good sign. We sat outside and both ordered the Daddy-O which is a brisket sandwich with provolone cheese and onion rings on top. It includes one side which we both ordered hand cut fries. The fries are OK, a little on the thin side which I don’t really care for. I ordered a side of coleslaw too which I thought was really good. The sandwiches were very good but not as smoky in flavor as I hoped. The barbecue sauces, there are four types were good but not great. I was a bit disappointed in those. We had a couple beers and lunch and with tip it was about 60 bucks, a bit on the expensive side. I liked my sandwich and would come back again and recommend if you’re in the area give it a try.

Great BBQ

By woosusan |

This place is worth checking out. We were there for dinner and it did not disappoint. We made reservations and I recommend that if you don't want to wait for a table during prime time. It is a bar. Cocktails, beer and wine are available. The menu is good. There is a variety of sandwiches, appetizers and entrees. I had a smoked meat combo with 2 choices of sides and meats. I chose brisket and chicken but also could have chosen pork or burnt ends. The meat choices came on a slice of white bread red each. They had some sauce on them and 4 additional sauces were available at the table in marked bottles. Side choices included French fries, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, mac and cheese, collard greens and others. Dessert options are available if you have room. The key lime pie was decent, I was told. The service was fast and friendly. Pleasant experience. Also got to watch chicken roasting on spits.

Good BBQ for Chicago

By Dougocam |

I had carryout from Smoke Daddy's. It was very good, as were the sides. I am from the south and can be very judgmental about BBQ. While it wasn't exactly what I am accustomed to, (sauce of ribs) it was very good. I would definitely go back. Finding good BBQ in the north can be an impossible task, but this was worthy of future visits.

Bad service

By dawnhudson |

Looked forward to trying good Chi-town BBQ. Like most restaurants in Chicago at dinner time, we were told there would be a 45 min -1 hour wait. But who wouldn't wait for BBQ is worth it. So we waited for an hour. No one called us. When we asked the hostess. She said it's gonna be another 45 min to 1 hour. She gave our table away. We were very disappointed and left.

When the BBQ voice call

By Tina Tomas |

Whenever I want to eat good BBQ that is one of the place I go. They have a bunch of different BBQ sauces that go perfectly with there food. There prices are fair and the mood is positive.

Smoke daddy wicker park

By martin |

Great food bbq style, extremely fast and great service, live music was a very nice touch, “The Masters Collection “ Reasonable prices Great drinks I will return

Good food, slow service

By lverdouw |

We arrived at the restaurant around 1:30 in the afternoon and, although it was busy, we were seated right away. However, it took 20 minutes for our waitress to come over. I ordered the skillet breakfast and it was really good. The food arrived quickly and was served hot. Good selection of beers.

They have the meats.

By SmileyWithAK |

Like smoked meat, go to Smoke Daddy. Large portions of meat and multiple homemade BBQ sauces. Pulled pork nachos are the best, especially with a 16 oz can of PBR. Classy.

Good location, Good BBQ

By ch33z |

The location and selection of indoor or outdoor seating was great. The BBQ itself was average and a little expensive.

Good BBQ, good service, heavy on the sauce

By Mjt383 |

I'm a little picky when it comes to good Q places, since I have been smoking and BBQ-ing for years. Not just a weekend warrior mind you as I have a hand built commercial grade smoker. An offset stick burner for those that know, and have competed in contests over the years. Went in on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered the smoked wings, pulled pork, brisket, burnt ends, rib tips, collards greens, beans. The Q was good, we even talked with an executive chef that was walking around. Service was excellent and friendly. Here are my comments on the Q. The brisket was very good but sliced too thin. It was served on the traditional slice of white bread, same as the burnt ends, pulled pork and rib tips. Everything was covered in their BBQ sauce. Too much. The pulled pork was swimming in sauce. Can't really taste the smoke flavor due to the over saucing. So I ordered pulled pork, chicken and brisket to go WITHOUT the sauce to take home after we ate. That's when I found out that the BBQ is better than I thought because you can really see how tender, smokey, and flavorful it actually is. My advice is to order what you want WITHOUT the sauce and you can add your own as there are several bottles on your table. The collards where cooked al dente and with a lot of garlic. not the traditional way with smoked ham stock and reduced onions. They were good though. I would go back when I am in the area. Give it a try without the sauce... you can always add it to your liking at the table.

Loved it

By Alf |

Travelled all the way from Sydney Australia to check out a game Cubs game at Wrigleys field. Walked into this newbie bar after hearing some cracking blues band playing after the ball game. Loved it. Met some really cool Americans who made me feel welcome

Not a fan of the food. Why cook everything in the same strange sauce??

By Torrey S |

Despite the great atmosphere, outdoor seating, and location of Smoke Daddy... I have tried it one too many times and still am not impressed. The BBQ is not comparable to other Chicago places (like Twin Anchors, Barn & Company, etc). The food is simply not good in my opinion *(and my husband's). Despite everything being slow cooked for hours, the meat has a distinct taste that neither my husband, two friends, or myself are fans of. It is cooked in their "original" sauce option which is not ever something I would choose-- and when trying to disguise the taste by covering the meat in the other sauce options *(available on every table), it still does not mask the strange flavor. The sides are just okay. This taste is true of everything I have tried... ribs, pulled pork, even the chicken sandwich. I would return for the ambiance and a drink or appetizer... but definitely NOT for a meal.

Great pulled pork

By Ronald V |

We recently stopped in here for brunch on a Sunday morning. We had the pulled pork eggs Benedict with chipotle hollandaise. Wow. It was excellent. The cast iron skillet monkey bread was great too. Highly recommend stopping in here to eat.

Great BBQ!

By Dlgu32 |

The BBQ was really good at Smoke Daddy, everyone continued to rave about this spot, so we finally checked it out. The main restaurant is small but there is outdoor seating in front and side extension. We ordered a sampler with baby back ribs, brisket, and burnt ends. Also started with hush puppies. Everything was really good. The ribs were excellent, meat falling off the bone. They have three types of BBQ sauce on the tables, I liked all three flavors. I would recommend this restaurant to friends.

Perfectly nice place and good

By shinji |

Perfectly nice place and good for brunch in the neighborhood. The bbq itself doesn’t have any strong personality to it, but it tastes good. They don’t have hot links.

Great jazz. Cool vibe

By Gina H |

We enjoyed the casual atmosphere and band on a Saturday night. The service was great. The beer was good. The food was nothing special.

Good BBQ and Beer Selection, Come for the Music

By FrontierMan18 |

I feel like Smokedaddy lost some of its charm when it expanded into the space next door, but it is still a good option in a town that does not have that much good barbeque. The live music that plays on some nights is a nice addition to the atmosphere, and the decor has a Southwest vibe to it without feeling forced. Service is pretty good, and the bar serves a good selection of beers and whiskeys. The ribs are dry rubbed and very smoky, hence the name. The menu also includes a pretty good burger. Can't say the ribs are amazing, but they certainly get the job done. I will go back because the location is great for social gatherings. Great neighborhood for pre or post-dinner drinks.

Nachos to die for!

By Ronni68 |

Wow. We came in late on a Monday night after the hockey and were served quickly by a very welcoming lady. The nachos are like nothing I've ever had before! Pulled pork and chicken instead of ground beef Chilli was a sensational change! If I lived in Chicago I would live in this place!!! They are allergen aware too.

Pretty good bbq.

By diana c |

I came in and had the chicken wings which where pretty tasty they where complete wings enough to share. The bbq brisket is good not to dry. Must have the Mac and cheese very delish oven baked with a crisp topping. My fave of all is the sangria here it's very good!!! A must have with your meal.

Wow great bbq

By Glenn M |

Had a great lunch after Wrigley tour smoked wings were awesome 😎 chili 🌶 awesome brisket and ribs also great nice outside second floor over looks the stadium ya got to go 😉

Great Ribs with Live Music

By Christopher Z |

Stopped in for a drink because there was live music which we really enjoyed. Ended up splitting a half rack and a half chicken. Both were really tasty. The mustard bbq was the best sauce. Would go back for sure.

Delicious BBQ and sides....

By Gina M |

Our party of 5 all ordered different items and we all were very pleased! The Daddy-O, pulled pork, and pulled chicken were really delicious. Of course, I'm all about the sides and they were equally good. The cornbread, onion rings, sweet potato fries, and the mac and cheese were fabulous. We'll definitely be back!

Superb Atmosphere

By stephen0654 |

Our visit coincided with our first baseball game. Located just outside Wrigley Field Smoke Daddy is very convenient for match days although very busy as you can imagine. Despite the place being full the food, beer, and service was excellent. They obviously know how to cater for a crowd.

Very Dry BBQ Good Sides

By Sirtrvlot |

Great location and the staff was really great. The prices were reasonable and the portions large. There were 10 of us in the group and every single person complained that their BBQ, no matter the type, was very dry. It was a shame because the sides are fantastic and their selection of sauces on the table were also very good. I will give them another try.

Delicious food

By melsanders |

We love the food here ,Perfectly nice place and good for brunch . The bbq is delicious we enjoyed our time here and we for sure to be back soon and thank you .

Nice spot, tepid food

By bitofabear |

Great venue, had live music, lots of seating. Service wasn’t great, we were out in a back corner and kind of forgotten, probably as we were only two and most other parties were a lot bigger. Had to flag down a server to get some water and menus. Food arrived quickly, wasn’t particularly warm. Big portions though. The fries and greens were cold, ribs and beans were excellent. Once we were finished eating the server brought our check straight away, even though we hadn’t asked for us, like they wanted to turn over the table as quick as possible

Great Barbecue, Exceptional Rub

By jhauser3 |

Do you like barbecue? Do you enjoy different sides with your smoked meats? Do you like interesting dry rubs? Do you like neat vibes? Then this place is for you. Just thinking about my brisket and burnt ends from last night is making me hungry all over again. My wife got the pulled pork- the bark was incredible. I can’t wait to go back!

Southern Style BBQ in the Windy City!

By Farrah H |

Southern BBQ in the Windy City! Located in Wicker Park, Smoke Daddy's is a hipster BBQ joint with real Southern-style smoked meats and original sauces. We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated inside right away. The outdoor seating areas are really nice, but had quite the wait time. You can really tell that this is a local favorite bc it is buzzing with people of all ages. With a sprawling bar and plenty of televisions, sporting events are visible on every wall. The menu offers a wide range of choices from brisket to chicken to veggie burgers, there is something for everyone. I highly recommend the pimento cheese hush puppies for an appetizer. They are freshly fried and oozing with cheese. For an entree, I had the pulled chicken BBQ sandwich with coleslaw. Both were delicious! The pulled chicken was piled high on a brioche bun. The slaw is a perfect mix of salty and sweet to condiment the mustard based BBQ sauce. My husband had the two meat platter. He chose the mouth watering brisket and the pulled pork with a side of smoked beans and fries. This was a mountain of food! We could have easily shared that platter and been full! The brisket was cooked to perfection and the pork was perfectly salty with sweet BBQ sauce. The fries were fresh shoestring cut, while the beans had probably been cooking for hours allowing the flavors to marry in perfect harmony. Even though we were both pretty full, we had to try dessert. We opted for the banana pudding, bc as true Alabamians, we had to give it a try. The pudding was not the classic-southern recipe with mile high meringue, soft vanilla wafers, and overly ripened bananas. Instead, it was an actual bowl of pudding with a few vanilla wafers and sour bananas placed on top. It was a mediocre dessert. The first two courses of our meal were amazing, so I have to say that I would return to Smoke Daddy's.

Good Experience

By Jelani J |

We found this place on trip advisor. Had to park eight blocks down the street so I definitely advise ridesharing if possible. Smoked wings were tasty. Wife’s ribs were tender. Handmade fries were tasty as well . Overall very good dinner experience. Service was good. Temperature inside the restaurant was a bit chilly given an open door.

Chicago's best BBQ

By Taylor B |

The Smoke Daddy has been producing Big City BBQ since 1994, now at two popular locations. The original, located at 1804 West Division Street in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, at Woods, west of Ashland, offers BBQ and free live music seven days a week. Open from 11 to 10 Monday through Thursday, 11 to 11 on Friday, 10 to 11 on Saturday and 10 to 10 on Sunday, it is a cozy venue with limited seating. But it has earned plaudits as "Chicago's best BBQ." If you only want a sandwich, try the Daddy-O with sliced brisket, smoked provolone and onion rings or The Freak with smoked corned beef, Swiss cheese, cole slaw and spicy mustard on rye. If you are in a mood for more, St. Louis style spare ribs or BBQ ribs or wild roasted rotisserie chicken or the chicken and ribs platter are highly recommended. With cole slow or cornbread or hand-cut fries or smoke pit beans on the side. Don't pass up the sweets. The evening wouldn't be complete without a slice of key lime pie with walnut graham cracker crust and a portion of Granny R's banana pudding. Smoke Daddy has opened a new location at 3636 North Clark Street in Chicago's Wrigleyville neighborhood, north of Addison, in the Zachary Hotel, within a foul ball of Wrigley Field.

Mouth Watering!

By Grammietrish |

Sat outside on a beautiful Chicago summer evening on their open patio, atmosphere was great and food was excellent. Started with the pulled pork Nachos, then brisket plate with sides of mac’n’cheese & collard greens. Good portions. BBQ sauces, 4 varieties on table so you can try all. Accompanied by a glass of Sangria it was a great meal with very good service,

Reheated non quality food but service was good

By Alvin G |

Service was good, everything came fast to the table and mabey that was the problem. We ordered the Taste of the Daddy that has all the meat items on the menu. It came to the table just 5 minutes and it was lukewarm and very obviously just reheated. The brisket tasted like roast beef, no smoke flavor. Ribs were not ‘fall-of-the-bone’ quality and you can guess the rest. If not for the service i’d give 1 star.

One of the best BBQ in Chicago

By UK_traveller_7 |

Took some friends here to catch the hawks on TV and sample some Q. Had a platter of ribs, pulled pork and brisket as well as some pit beans of course. Just the ticket. Really tasty BBQ expertly prepared. Lots of different craft beers to try added to the experience including the excellent Daisy Cutter. The place was pretty packed and had a great atmosphere with the game on at the same time. There might be some slightly better BBQ out there in Chicago like Smoque but here you get the BBQ inside a really cool and welcoming Neighbourhood bar. For me, this makes it the best BBQ experience in Chicago. Must go visit for your ribs or brisket fix.

Favorite Chicago BBQ

By Michael L |

BBQ is my favorite food and SD is my favorite BBQ in Chicago. Dinner for 6 last night. The hostess and manager went out of their way to find a place for us to eat outside in front as one of our party has a hearing problem. A variety of interesting draft beer choices is a good start. I had the baby back ribs which were great; a bit smoky, some sauce and not quite fall off the bone; perfect! My 2 sides, sweet potato fries and cornbread, were also very good. Our server was great and patient with us as 4 in our party had never been at SD and had several questions. Others in our group had the pulled pork, burnt ends and the rib sampler and you really can’t go wrong. Several seating options as well; sidewalk, outside patio and inside with music.

Killer Bloody Mary

By recluse00 |

Stopped by this place for brunch and was not disappointed. Had the biscuits and gravy and is was very good, and a huge portion. The best part however, was the bloody Mary. One of the best bloody Mary's I have ever had, and the its comes served with a nugget of bbq goodness. Good luck trying to stop at just one. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Reasonable prices, great food; highly recommended.

Danish ribs? Really?

By SDMEATGUY |

I am a meat scientist, and an avid smoker of meat of all types. I am really surprised that a small bbq joint would use imported danish spare ribs for use in Chicago. I know, it’s not the bbq meca Kansas City, but really? Now, they do use an “Old Hickory” brand smoker, which is a good smoker that turns out tasty bbq. I will say that the flavor of the smoke and sauce in the ribs was good, hence my 4-star rating. The French fries I had were crisp and tasty. I was pretty disappointed in the bland flavor of the Mac n cheese. It was the only dish that my waitress said I “needed” to order. Disappointing... I would go back if I visit Chicago again, but I would also try some of the other bbq places first.

Great Meats

By Scott S |

Def glad I chose to eat here. I have eaten at many BBQ places across US and this is by far one of the best tasting. I had the burnt ends and pulled pork with the beans which I highly recommend as well. Prices are decent and you get your fair share of food for what you pay. You will not be disappointed!

Yum

By Lauren D |

A very cool place inside (the outside does NOT do it justice). Cool music, ambiance, and great BBQ. We went back the next day for take out homemade BBQ chips. (Only suggestion is to have them to go all the time!)

Awesome BBQ

By Full of Witt |

Great BBQ restaurant on Division street. The pimento cheese curds are amazing. Served with a jalapeno jelly that you just want to smother the curds with. The sandwiches are great (Brisket and pulled pork are solid). The BBQ ribs are pretty good, but not my favorite ribs in the city. The BBQ chicken is really moist and tasty. If you're hungry, definitely go for one of the platters. A ton of food. You'll wish you had a bigger stomach.

Great food for take out

By Ann W |

For the graduation party arrangements had been made for a variety of delicious mains and sides from Smoke. The proof of success is that in spite of the copious amount of food, there were no left overs. All delicious ! Note that Smoke has two lines, one waiting for a seat and the other for picking up food. They serve a large clientele very competently.

Rack of Ribs

The welcome from the staff were very helpful, friendly & good interaction which matched the food, the ribs were fantastic. I'm hoping a return visit before I fly out. 😀

Best place to eat and drink before or after a Cubs game.

By Martin T |

Of all the pubs and restaurants up and down Division Street near Wrigley Field, Smoke Daddy is the best! We came down from Wisconsin for a Cubs game for the 1st time in over a year and the whole street had changed. So many new bars and restaurants to choose from, we were overwhelmed. Smoke Daddy looked and sounded (live Blues at 11:00 AM) the best so we gave it a shot. Good choice! The barbecue is delicious! My wife had the pulled chicken and liked it. I asked our server to help me choose between the burnt tips or pulled pork and she said go for the burnt tips. Was I glad I did! Delicious! They come with a side and I chose the fries. Best I've had in a long time- crispy crust and a generous portion. Atmosphere was noisy and happy, what you would expect on game day. So the food is excellent, the service is friendly, helpful and efficient and the price of my lunch was about the same as a foot long hot dog inside the park. I look forward to going there again next time we get down there for a game.

Outstanding BBQ, even for a Texan

By SeeTheWorld1111 |

Baby back ribs were outstanding, delightful that you could have as much sauce as you want with four different varieties. Also the hush puppies with pimento cheese inside were a fabulous treat. Of the sides, sweet potato fries and the baked beans and the Mac plus cheese were outstanding. Service was good and fast. Also, a nice neighborhood environment, lots of people walking by including families.

Great neighborhood barbecue joint!

By dontrapper |

Great menu including rib tips and burnt ends but this time I went with the delicious fall of the bone baby back ribs. Excellent choice of sides. Really good baked beans and tasty creamy cole slaw. Tough to find parking and they don't take reservations but only waited about 15 minutes for a table for two on a Saturday night. Great place to get your cue on!

Nice dinner for sure...

By Victor U |

It was a Sunday in July. 3 adults and my 8 y/o boy. Little guy had the chicken strips and fries which he devoured. I had a cold beer and brisket sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. I will say that our portions were adequate and the service...stellar. The food was good and filling. My only complaint was the live music. It was a solo act...guitar and singer. Now...while he had talent, he also had way too much volume. This is a small venue which lends itself to a softer volume. Nope. The performer played at full 100% volume, to the point that my group could not converse without yelling. Now...maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I believe that live music should compliment adult conversation...not overtake it. We will all return again for the food...and hope there is no "act" on stage.

BBQ At It's Best

By weirhammer |

A review of a smokehouse revolves usually around the ribs, and when they fall off the bone like they do here it usually leaves every customer happy.. add moist and succulent chicken and a variety of other options and you won't go far wrong. Choices of alcohol where vast and varied and if you are looking for a different ale.. zombie dust is just the one you need, cocktails where a small menu but each one we tried hit the spot (margarita and the mule) so much so we ordered them twice. The atmosphere was friendly and the waitress was quick and served with a smile. They have a variety of TV's which showed all live sports which suited me personally. Overall I'd recommend Smoke daddy's to anybody who enjoys hearty portions that don't compromise on flavor and quality

Best Bloody Mary on the Planet!!!!

By kvanbec |

Good barbeque. Went for Brunch. Burnt ends are good as is pulled pork. The best thing of all was the Bloody Mary. It was crazzzzzzy fantastic! Comes with a skewer of pickle slices and green olives but the killer was the skewer of brisket! The mix is fantastic, smoky flavored, salty, perfect tomato bliss. If that isnt enough, they serve it with a mini bottle of beer too! All of that for $8. To die!

Great food...Kool restaurant..!!

By lov2eat2 |

If you're into barbeque your not living till you go here. Been here a few times and never been let down. Nice outdoor seating also in a vibrant neighborhood. A nice food experience..!!!

Under Cooked and Over Cooked

By hdeschaa |

I hate to do this as I have visited Smoke Daddy more than once, however this will be the last visit to this restaurant. The food has been decent in the past, but the pulled pork and beef brisket were served at about room temperature and were very dried out. The food came to our table with break neck speed, however the meats seemed like they had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. Our waitress appeared like she was constantly in a hurry to clear our table and dropped off the bill before we were even finished with our meal, the restaurant had many tables open and available at that time as well. Overall the experience was lack luster and I now have concerns about the manner in which they prepare and serve their meats.

Excellent

By Traveler2012a |

I have been here three times so far, and each time has been excellent. All of the food items are good, and the service is very quick. If you like wings...try them here. They are absolutely fantastic.

Smoking Good

By Jimd709WestPeoria |

Walking in to Smoke Daddy and the smell of meat smoking is a real pleasure. We had smoked brisket, smoked ribs and smoked BQ chicken. Oldie music played while we ate and didn't interrupt our conversation. One of the most pleasant restaurants I have ever visited. The atmosphere of the place makes it a must place to eat. Our service was outstanding.

Fun For Friends (but not authentic que)

By Brittany Janaé |

Listen, my kin is born and bred from Paris, TN so knowing good bbq is in my blood! Hopefully I have hyped that up enough so that I'm a trusted source for bbq lol. For me bbq is something you make with the soul and requires sooo much time and patience to curate. The meat needs to be tender, the greens need to have a kick, and the macaron and cheese needs to have a little something going on! With that being said.. I liked it but I didn't feel like I was transported to Memphis. We had the greens, ribs, pulled pork, and macaroni and cheese. She's a cute place for a day out on the patio with friends for drinks and BBQ, but don't set your expectations on it being the most life changing que of your life. Service is really attentive and the atmosphere is bright and fun overall. Ambiance 4/5 Food 3.5/5 Service 4.5/5 Overall impression 3.5/5

I love this place

By Mark T |

For several years I have visited Chicago annually. Several years ago the concierge at my hotel recommended Smoke Daddy for BBQ. It’s a cab ride from the major hotels but worth the trip. I go at least once every trip. Entering the smell is awesome. I always order baby back ribs with beans and coleslaw. Those are great. The ribs are meaty and there are 4 sauces. The beans are great. Generally I can take or leave coleslaw but they do a great job here. It’s always fresh and has a hint of mustard tang. I wish the portions of beans and coleslaw were bigger. I guarantee I will be back.

Best BBQ in Chicago!

By kerry s |

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing service. I felt like I was in Texas. Can't wait to come back!

Tasty Ribs a plenty

By Rich D |

I tried the rib sampler. There are few things on earth more satisfying than a well smoked tender rib that has been lovingly basted in a sauce that honors the sacrifice the animal then on to make it to my grateful palate. This is the place. I have wanted to go here since I first went to the Chicago Rib Fest and these (along with one other ) were my favorites. As extras go, the Mac and cheese with a hint of cayenne and the crispy fries were very good as well. The original BBQ sauce was, by far, my favorite.

Meh :-/

By Ashley C |

I have heard people rave about this restaurant for a while. I love bbq so I was excited when I moved within walking distance and finally got a chance to try it. It was disappointing to say the least and I don't understand the usually long waits to get a seat (party of 2 we got seated immediately, which helped). We had pretty good cocktails and ordered the hush puppies for an app. I will say, the hush puppies were amazing and I might go back just for those and a drink, but probably not. I got the pulled pork sandwich and my husband the brisket. The meat itself was fine, nothing over the top, but tender and tasty. But the real kicked was the sauces. I thought they were awful. If you're going to be a bbq joint, you need to commit to your sauces just as much as your smoking techniques. They had 2 or 3 different kinds on the table to use and they all tasted like way too much cumin was dumped into the saucepan. There are too many other AMAZING bbq joints in Chicago to consider this one even remotely good. Oh, and our service was terrible. After we ordered our food the waitress never came back until we needed our check. Even if we wanted to order another drink we wouldn't have been able to. My husband actually got up and one point to refill his own water from the wait stand.

What a great choice for Sunday Brunch

By Mike s |

We packed up at the hotel and headed out without a real plan for a breakfast. My daughter had read about Smoke Daddy's on a website. It came with rave reviews. It did not disappoint. We were a group of 8 and every single person raved about their meal. Toss in the Bloody Mary's are unbelievably good and you get five stars!

This was an awesome surprise!

By Loreen R |

We saw this on Chicago's Best and were in the mood for some BBQ. We took our sister and niece there for dinner. We all ended up ordering the Daddy-O sandwich which is the most tender brisket with big crunch onion rings on top, cheese and bacon. We also got an order of smoked meat nachos and let me tell you I could have easily had that for a meal. You have your choice of one or two different meats and we got the burnt ends and the chicken. It was wonderful and I can't wait to go back again and see what else they have but I have a feeling I won't get past those nachos!

Fantastic BBQ

By frederl1071 |

Stopped in Smoke Daddy (wicker park) while in the area for work. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. They were all doing a great job with COVID protocols. I tried the pimento cheese hush puppies...they are basically fried cheese balls. They come with a jalapeño jam...they were knock out! I had the baby back ribs with slaw and collard greens. I was warned the greens weren’t cooked like traditional greens but tried them anyway. I was not a fan - they weren’t cooked enough for me and were very stiff and bitter. The slaw was just so-so. The ribs were fall off the bone. They were really good. The real winner of the night was the key lime pie! Oh.My.God! Nothing else to say about that! The beer selection was strong, but they were out of a. Hunch if things listed on their menu - annoying! Overall, this place is top notch! I highly recommend it!

Great place

By Michael E |

Was walking around looking for a lunch spot and came across this place. Great atmosphere, great service and the food we ordered was extremely good. Will definitely be back when visiting Chicago in the future.

One of the Best

By Billy Goldstein |

Best BBQ I've had in Chicago hands down. Didn't hurt that the live music was fantastic. Loved this place. Comes highly recommend by me and I know good BBQ when I eat it

Come for Ribs and Blues!

By Mac B |

This place is a real gem. We came on a fully packed Saturday evening around 7pm. Place was packed and withen no reservation we were told 1-1,5 hours. We decided to stay because the atmosphere was great and food looked awesome. After some craft beers and nice drinks in the bar we got a table after 40 minutes, this flew by. Then the blues came on at the same times as the ribs came in and the experience of heavenly ribs and cool blues was just the perfect Saturday start. Food came in quick, was cheap and we ordered seconds of the short ribs because you just can't beat that experience! So good!

Wow SO GOOD

By Wendy M |

Went to tour Wrigley Field & stopped in here. Such a fantastic place to eat will definitely go back when visiting. Highly recommend

Creative and well-executed. No pressure to eat and get out. Nice crowd.

By EdMusick |

Back in town and in the neighborhood and we stopped in for a Sunday lunch. Lots of outside seating which we generally prefer. A couple of Wows: 1) Amazing poached eggs; perfectly done. Had them on a pulled pork benedict. 2) Best margarita; made with a jalapeno-infused tequila. Can't say I've had anything like it before. Even though they were busy service was prompt, attentive, and friendly. p.s. Dog friendly

Great food good live music by Wrigley

By mdtar |

Ate lunch here while touring around Wrigley Field. The food was very good. Had a live blues band playing in the middle of the day and they were awesome. It says they have live music every day. Nice deck outside looking at Wrigley. Definitely would go back.

Good barbecue

By WillySpr |

We had an enjoyable lunch on the deck overlooking Wrigley Field. The food was good but not great. The service was good. Sweet potato fries were poor - soggy and sprinkled with sugar. Ice tea was $3.5. The atmosphere was better than the food.

Eat here!

By Liz J |

We loved this place. The BBQ was spot on- we shared a spare rib, smoked chicken, and brisket plate. Sides were fries (off the chain good), and Mac and cheese (slap yo momma good). We had the pimento cheese hush puppies for an appetizer- holy cow! Best appetizer I've ever had! The sangria is great and their house rum drink is really good too. Service was A+ and the patio was so nice to enjoy a cool afternoon relaxing.

Out of the way

By happytravels246 |

Food was just fair but the service was friendly. It was out of the city centre and I can’t say it was worth it.

Fabulous waiter!

By Jan Pool |

Or waiter, Evan was charming. He explained the menu, ingredients, and drinks specials. He was an attentive server, always checking on us before we realized we needed something. One menu item was delivered without the omitted ingredient requested by the guest. Evan immediately had it remade. He answered every question we posed, in detail, down to the types of wood used in the smoker.

Extremely tasty

By Anthony B |

Very good beers on tap to start. Food... where do I start. St Louis ribs were orgasmic, cornbread was delicious, sweet potato fries lovely and crispy, burnt ends recommended by the waitress were ridiculously tasty (charred, juicy ends of brisket) and great service to boot. 6 stars if it were possible.

Great food, great service, great place!!

By Ben C |

Went late for food, drinks, and live blues music. We were there for 3 hours on a Friday night. Placed multiple food orders, had drinks, and enjoyed the live music! Everything was great! We liked it so much we returned Saturday morning for their all you can eat brunch. That was totally off the hook. Starts with monkey bread and only gets better from there. Oh yeah and all you can drink bloodys!! Need I say more?

Great bbq

By Ben K |

We really enjoyed our meal and the live music. A must visit when in Wicker Park, the bar shows live sports on screens too if there is a game you have to watch.

Brunch- not the best

By Courtney M |

I have to say I was pretty disappointed on our trip to Smoke Daddy. It was so loud, first with a musician and then with a football game that we could not have a conversation with the person next to use. The food was average. I was excited to try pimento cheese hush puppies, only to be served greasy fried cheese that tasked o my like whatever batter they had used, they were nothing like hush puppies. Several members of our party ordered the “breakfast items” only to find they could they had to come with all you can eat brunch. A member of our party has a severe gluten allergy so she could hardly partake but was charged for it. Our waitress was not attentive, leaving our coffee mugs and waters empty for much of the meal. She never checked back to see how our food was and had to be flagged down to complete the order as some food did not arrive at the table. Overall I was very unimpressed.

Smoked meats in the city

By Genni F |

Not our usual spot while at Wrigley but we’ve always wanted to try. Glad we did. We went on a day that Cubs weren’t in town so the we’re no crowds. Our bartender Brian offered many options and we each tried one of the smoked meats. The ribs were tender fall off the bone and delicious! The smoked half chicken was moist and delicious too. Pulled pork sandwich equally delicious. Just wish they could have allowed the customer to sauce the sandwich. 4 sauces to chose from from spicy to sweet. The sides were amazing! The coleslaw was my favorite. Great bar as well!

Superb ribs, superb blues!

By Gene R |

Maybe a bit crowded (has become v popular, and had doubled in size over the years) , but the ribs are beyond compare, and the band is always worth the attention.

Pleasant and tasty lunch

By Dedgehog |

Looking for a place to eat lunch, we decided on this place - it was a good choice. We opted to eat in the newer section that is more open and airy. My wife had the combo sandwich and chose pulled pork and the hot link while I had the Wrightwood salad. I tasted the sandwich and the meats were very tasty while my salad was good but not as exciting! The service was very pleasant and paced just about right. We tried the banana pudding for dessert which was the server's last choice - it was OK but not special - we should have followed his recommendation and tried the key lime pie.

Brilliant brunch fun with some awesome menu items

By Maidin D |

We loved the Bloody Mary and the brisket skillet, it was just too much for 1 person! The absolute highlight was the jalapeño hush puppies! Insanely good. All in a fun, interesting and well-priced place, just a little out of the way but worth the brunch run.

Holy Brunch.

By Reba N |

Late Sunday morning, we went to Smoke Daddy to get brunch and find a good spot to watch the Bears game. It doesn't stand out along the street in Wicker Park, but once we sat down, it exceeded all expectations. I got a the Pulled Pork Benedict which was topped with a flavorful Chipotle Hollandaise sauce. I love Eggs Benedict and order it almost every time I go to breakfast and that may have been the best I have ever had. We also shared the succulent Monkey Bread. SO GOOD. My friends got the Brisket Breakfast Skillet and Wicker Park Omelette. Those were both delicious as well. The Bloody Mary is served with beef brisket, pulled pork, and a sidecar of beer. Talk about a bloody mary! The service was good, the ambiance is warm, and they do offer great patio seating in warm weather. Overall, great experience!

Good barbecue

By stepusin |

Wouldn’t say this place is a destination, but the food is good. The sauces are thick and arnt anything special. The food prices arnt bad so it’s a good place if you need a meal.

Great venue for ribs and blues

By Brian G |

Lively bar and restaurant serving mainly ribs and chicken with beer. small wine selection but this is not about fine dining! the ribs are the thing and are joyous smoked on the premises they just fall off the bone as soon as you look at them. Music every night on the tiny stage Brian Carpy was on when we were there and he is excellent.

Large Family Party

By maruke57 |

This restaurant was great, they handled us well, at least 60 folks celebrating a birthday 🎁 all the wait staff was super. It was a great Sunday afternoon event. The bacon wrapped pork was really good.

Make a pint to go to this hidden gem. BEST Bloody Mary you’ll ever drink with a side of MGD and rib to boot! Service top

By Vickie C |

What a gem! We sought out Smoke Daddy for the boost mary- beat EVER and ended up eating soothe BEST BBQ EVER!!! It is a must!

Ehh

By KeithDonovan |

While not a place I would typically visit, the food was decent. We came in for reservations about 130, it was pretty, not busy. Ally, our server was a great when attending us. However she was not so attentive once we got or meals. Parking can be a bit difficult here, but there is street parking. Walking along this street during great weather would be a great benefit of seeing this restaurant and the neighborhood

Get “Big City Eats”

By ken k |

Like I said, get the big city eats off the menu. My wife and son and I ordered it. It’s like family style. $59, we got slab of ribs, 1/2 chicken, 2 cups of beef brisket, 2 slices of bread, regular and sweet potato fries. You have choices, these were ours. It was good and we had enough leftover for another meal for all of us. The only thing we didn’t like were the sweet potato fries, we’ve had better. Next time in Chicago we’ll get this again, maybe we’ll tweak the sides.

Unbelievable!

By travelchap100 |

We went here on a Friday night and were amazed it wasn’t full! What a place! The service was attentive and the place was cosy. We had The Chris Winters Band playing who were fantastic! Boogie blues all evening! I had the baby ribs with brisket, green collards and beans. The taste was fabulous! If you go to Chicago - go here!

Yum

By Mike |

The food was great. I remember seeing this on a TV show and have been wanting to try it for a while. The food is worth the price. I recommend the burnt tips!

Amazing BBQ

By 001Kya007 |

We shared a tasting platter with ribs, brisket and pork. It had such an amazing smoke flavour. It was exactly what we were craving. For two of us to eat is was $40. That included alcohol. There was live music towards the end of our visit which was a great experience. The bar service was slow and drinks were not replenished until we waved to the bar tender (and there were only 4 of us at the bar). Well worth the visit!

Not What I Expected

By onlyv58 |

Visited the Smoke Daddy during restaurant week 2016 in Chicago. It is definitely a neighborhood kind of restaurant. The wait staff was very nice and so is the ambience. However, I was disappointed in the food. The ribs were dry and over-cooked. The pulled chicken was mushy. Chicago is a great BBQ town, but this is not one I would recommend.

Competent Rib place

By jstamilio |

Great experience, as it was an idyllic summer night in Chicago. We ate on their porch, Ribs and sauce choice was tasty. Love the collard greens. Is it the best, no! But a competent choice on a fun street.

Best BBQ in Chicago

By Michael T |

A friendly place, with inside and outside seating, large sports TV screens in one area, many interesting draft beers, but OH is the BBQ great. ESPECIALLY the meaty rib tips which come in a 1/2 order or full order along with 2 sides. Amazingly good mac and cheese, or corn bread, sweet potato fries, coleslaw - your choice, and all VERY good. This place is near my office, and is my very favorite location for lunch. I have never been disappointed. Not too noisy, with lots of booths, table seating, etc.

**licks fingers**

By RoamingGibsons |

This is really great BBQ! We had the sampler plate with a 1/2 rack of baby backs, st. louis, and rib tips! Really really really good! The coleslaw and mac and cheese were worthy accompanists!

Second to None 👌👌👌👌👌

By Tony M |

Fantastic Food, Fantastic Value and Fantastic Staff The a real sports bar environment with a great buzz. Traditional American barbecued food with lots of sides, ribs, wings, dogs and the signature smoked whole chickens you can even watch them being prepared and cooked. Portions are large and drinks are good too, try the bacon brisket bloody mary with a piny beer. It's as good as it sounds 👍

Local Favorite

By Debbie M |

Great salads as well as the heavy stuff and good for lunch or dinner. We were a large group and enjoyed the outdoor patio at lunchtime - have not been here in the evening but have heard it is a local favorite. .

Wonderful experience before the game!

By venicelove2 |

Excellent food! Something for everyone! Great place to go before or after a CUBS games! The staff was awesome! If you want a window table arrive early, not sure about reservations!

Really like their smoke & BBQ meat

By p l |

I had a sample of all the meats they have, and I have to say that I like them all. Good flavor and the meat was done well

Pleasant surprise when looking for another restaurant in the hood.

By Virginia M |

You know how you walk past a place or drive past and always wonder......when am I going to check the joint out????Was in the now cool hip area of Ashland and Division and points west looking for an old sushi place. Was starving!!!!!!Finally gave up and said what the heck let's hit Smoke Daddy!!!!!!Stroke of luck or genius????There were sports games on screens in a separate room, there was LIVE music by an original artist and the food and service was outstanding. The bartender outdid himself with knowledge of what was on tap and matched our tastes. The pulled pork and all the fixin's were out of this world as was dessert. Couldn't get enough of the corn bread!!!!!!!Just wonderful. There was a group of ladies having a wonderful girls' nite bday party and they were treated as well as the guys getting excited over the sports scores. The staff even made a fresh pot of coffee for us!!!!!How cool was that?????Just a down home kinda joint that makes ya feel GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent BBQ

By SilverBond |

Smoke Daddy offers great BBQ in a nice setting. The ribs are spectacular and the 'ends' to die for. The beer selection provides a good variety for the regular drinker as well as for the connoisseur. Recommended

Food Never disappoints

By midwesterner727 |

the Bloody Mary's are out of his world!!! The breakfast menu is a treat for anyone who loves meat and eggs. I have tried several of the entrees, eggs benedict, nachos and lunch entrees. All of them have always been generous and sumptuous. The only drawback is the service is spotty at times.

Great BBQ

By lvsdx |

This was my first time at Smoke Daddy. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. I had the 2 meat and 2 sides dinner. My choices were BBQ brisket, Burnt ends, baked beans and coleslaw. The 3 different BBQ sauces on the table let us experiment with different tastes. We even mixed some together making up our own concoction. My favorite was the brisket and baked beans. If I'm in the area, I'll go back again.

Great BBQ!

By Joe S |

My wife took me somewhere new for Father's Day dinner, and I was very glad that she chose Smoke Daddy restaurant. My first impression of the restaurant was that it was a little cramped. There is a large bar in the center of it that takes up a lot of space. However, after seeing the layout of the tables, I realized that there is plenty of space. I am very glad that I didn't let that first impression affect me more negatively, because the food was AMAZING. We went with a group of 6 and everyone ordered something different so we could try different things. There was not a single item that I tried that wasn't delicious! The pulled pork was fabulous, the brisket was tender and tasty, the roasted chicken was incredible, the smoked sausage was full of flavor. EVERYTHING was mouth-watering delicious! I would definitely recommend Smoke Daddy as a place to go for great BBQ, and have already made plans to come back for my sons birthday in October. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

The Joint That Serves Burnt Ends

By Muriel M |

Before friends who live in Chicago took me to The Smoke Daddy, I had never heard of burnt ends being served. Cut off and quietly fed to the dog, maybe... But no. I have learned to love burnt ends. So what are burnt ends? They're the "outside cut" of the barbequed brisket. If you like outside cut of the roast beef, you'll love burnt ends, especially when served with crisply fresh cole slaw, slightly fiery beans and atmosphere. My sister had the pulled smoked chicken and pronounced it excellent. So were the ribs, sausage and brisket... Smoke Daddy is what my father would call "a joint" back in the good old days when that term had nothing to do with marijuana. Red naugahyde booths reach way back on one side, a bar fills the other, and there's an excellent selection of beer. We were obviously tourists in a local place, but we were treated with courtesy and excellent service. When I go back to Chicago, the one place I want to go back to in The Smoke Daddy. And have some more burnt ends.

Great Barbecue

By Jill R R |

We really like Smoke Daddy. Their meats are delicious and the sides are wonderful companions. Love the ribs, pulled pick, cornbread and baked beans. We've catered in, too, and everything was great!

Finger Lickin' BBQ

By fitzclaire03 |

Amazing tender fall off the bone BBQ. They have three delicious sauces made with wholesome ingredients without allergy causing chemicals. Pulled pork nachos were the perfect starter to share. The platters were also plentiful enough for two. Must try when you visit Chicago.

good place..will definitely return

By eyeu |

The four of us split a salad, bbq and wings. Enough to feed us...bbq was really good...and plentiful. Prices very fair..servers were helpful..and efficient. We got the bbq that included the ribs, chicken and brisket. Would get again... Lots of parking on the street. Like this place.

" What disappointment"

By True-advice-1A |

This restaurant was on my list for a few years now and finally had the opportunity to try it. I went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with some friends. The place was nice and it has a good atmosphere. The Food: I had the ribs and two sides. The sides were solid macaroni and cheese and sweet potatoes. On the other hand the ribs were the worst I have ever had in my entire life. I don't want to sounds dramatic but they were bad! They were dry, hard and tasteless! What a disappointment :(.My friends got kind of upset for my choice of restaurant…. so lunch was on my. Sorry no second chance for this one! If your name is Smoke daddy and you don't know how to make ribs…come on!!!

Wedding Catering

By Tom W |

My wife and I used Smoke Daddy for our wedding catering. The food arrived on time and hot. The food was absolutely delicious. Tai was very helpful with deciding how much food to get. Prices are very reasonable for catering in general, and low for a wedding. Smoke Daddy can handle large orders in a about a week's time. Smoke Daddy works with Carol's event service, so if you need waiters or waitresses, it can be done together. Highly recommend.

Great BBQ Joint

By Hallie B |

We tried this place on a whim (we'd read about it on several 'best of Chicago' lists), and were not disappointed. I had the rib tips, which were outstanding (very large portion even for the half-order), the macaroni (wonderful béchamel sauce!), and the sweet potato fries (deliciously seasoned). Husband had the burnt ends, the hot links (the latter were incredible - a bit of a kick but not over the top), and the baked beans (which he said were world class). I also tried their bloody mary, which was solid - and came with brisket wrapped in pork as a garnish (lol!) Sat on the patio, which was lovely and very well set up - service was excellent and friendly. We would come back!

50th birthday

By rwgrncrd |

The staff was fantastic helping us set up a 50th birthday party including baking two cornbread cakes in the shape of the numbers 5 & 0. Amazingly the cornbread tasted amazing - the best I’ve ever tasted. We had lots of drinks and enjoyed the BBQ while a live band played for a good part of the evening. The band was great too. Pulled pork nachos were really good and overall we just had a great time.

Best. BBQ. Ever.

While I don't always appreciate periods after every word for emphatic purposes, Smoke Daddy Restaurant deserves this title. Their BBQ choices are not only the right balance of all types of unique flavors and menu options, but they also have consistently good service and music. In addition to it being a top-choice for dinner, Smoke Daddy Restaurant also has one of the best brunch menus in the Wicker Park area and arguably the city. Their bloody mary is so rich, tastefully poured, and served, that it can practically stand as its own meal (with a thick cut slice of bacon and side car). Just writing the review makes me want to have brunch there tomorrow.

Fun Times at Smoke Daddy

By Patrick E |

My family visited Chicago and stayed in East Village, because we love to experience neighborhoods, their vibe, and their food. We wandered into Smoke Daddy on our fist night, because we say they have live music and wanted comfort food. Their service was good, and they had a nice variety of cue. I tried a two-meat sampler of beef brisket and pork bbq. Both were good, and the portions were plentiful. This is a great place to get a lot of food, hear good live music, and not break the bank.

Ribs and music, unbeatable

By NickUp |

Tried this place whilst on holiday during a busy early evening slot. The friendly staff found my wife and I a table within 15 minutes. I had ribs, fries and the smokepit beans, the wife had the wood roasted chicken, sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Everything was first class, well cooked and tasty. They take fast food to near gourmet levels.Washed down with a great selection of craft beer whilst listening to some interesting acoustic guitar sounds from Matt Gandurski. The service was friendly and swift. I will definitely revisit on our next trip to Chicago

Great BBQ at Smoke Daddy

First it must be said that I live in Kansas City and we have the best BBQ on the planet, so call me a tough audience. The food here was excellent and I enjoyed the meal. Started with something that by name alone I HAD to have - pimento cheese hush puppies. OMG Good. But not many of them. Came with a sort of jalapeno jam that was good. I had the "KC style burnt ends" sandwich, wife had a good smoked chicken salad, son had a mixed meat plate with the hot link and brisket. The burnt ends were good but not swoon-worthy. The hot link is very good and very spicy. I tasted the pit beans, which have a lot of meat, but to me don't match the Jack Stack beans from KC. I ordered collard greens as my side and expected southern chopped collards but got these which were lightly sauteed in olive oil like one might do spinach. When I want collards I want them cooked to death with pepper vinegar. They have 3 house sauces - the regular is too heavy on the celery seed for me. The smoky/sweet one is good and the mustard based one is also good. Again for nostalgia had to try the banana pudding for dessert. Again, a "modern" interpretation with a bowl of vanilla pudding with a few banana slices on top, several vanilla wafers pushed into the pudding and a dash of brown sugar. What you did not get was the layered effect of long-soaking layers of bananas and vanilla wafers where is gets all mushed together and is really good. So they are experimenting here and succeeding well. Bottom line: if you can't get to KC this is an excellent option.

Loosing Steam

Smoke Daddy has been around for a long time. It has expanded over the years and become even more popular with a mainstream crowd. I used to enjoy going to this place when it was smaller and did not have near wall to wall TVs. It morphed from a BBQ and Blues roadhouse to another sports bar with a BBQ bent. The ribs used to have a texture that reflected cooking fully with smoke. This may still be the case, but the ribs I had were soft like those that have been par-boiled. The fries were less generous and the quality was off from years ago. The chicken was "ok" but I could suggest at least two other place in Chicago that outdo the current fare here. I came midday when it was not crowded and there was only one waitress/bartender, making service a bit sketchy. It is hard to keep a places MOJO up, but SD is loosing steam and has fallen from the ranks of go-to BBQ in Chicago.

Very Good lots of Food

My husband and I split a bar-b-que plate. It was great! It is right across the street from Wrigley Field. The brisket was soo good!

4 1/2 if low expectations

Sunday afternoon. 80 degrees. The place was very busy. Decent place if you don't have other choices nearby. But this doesn't mean you can't get better BBQ in Chicago. You can. I tried the rib sampler. Not sure you get $30 worth of meat. Fall-off-the-bone is not what award-winning joints strive for. You want bite marks with the meat remaining on the bone. Overall OK, but salty with too much sauce. The rib tips by far the best. The baked beans deserve 5 stars! They put effin cilantro in the cole slaw (50% of the population does not like cilantro!). Rib tips. Sauce on the side. Double order of baked beans. Rub's Backcountry BBQ still my favorite in Chicago.

Great smokehouse with live music

Smoke Daddys is a great place to eat out, the smokehouse food is excellent and piled high, the small stage by the door hosts live music that adds to a great atmosphere.

Smoke Daddy Me Out

Before I get to the bad news let me say this...They have the best "Customer Service"Ever. I heard this is the place to go if you want the best ribs and the 100 people that were there think so too. Unfortunately our ribs were tough and a little dry,not enjoyable at all. when we told the server they offered to replace them at no additional charge. We thanked her and declined and at that time the owner came over and said there would be no charge and,the next time we come in it will be on him.He said it is possible to get a bad one now and then but, not possible to get two in a row.

Awesome Brunch!

Brunch at Smoke Daddy

By Fastest |

For a brunch with a BBQ twist try Smoke Daddy. The restaurant is on West Division in Chicago on a street lined with old and new bars and restaurants. The egg and BBQ dishes are interesting and tasty. They have an extensive beer menu, but the bloody marys are only so-so. I tried "Not Your Daddy's Root Beer" which is 10% alcohol and was actually disappointed because it tasted exactly like root beer. All it lacked was a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and I would have had a root beer float.

Great restaurant

We came on a Wednesday. Burgers and a side $6! So tasty. Would definitely recommend. Friendly waitress and delicious sauvignon blanc.

Very good BBQ in a great setting

Walked by this place and decided to give it a try and enjoyed the visit quiet a bit. It was a Sunday afternoon and the games were going on the different screens that they have. The place filled up pretty fast despite is large size. What most impressed me was the quick service they offer. I ordered appetizers and the food, expecting a long wait for the main course but it all came at a quick pace but without feeling that they want to hurry me out the door. The food was very good, one of the best BBQ I've had in Chicago. Ordered a ribs platter which comes with both the baby backs and the St. Louis ribs, and it was the perfect portion for a couple. Meat was tender although my ribs were a bit on the dry side. Next time I will also order the sauce on the side so I can have a better taste of the rub and the ribs. If in the neighborhood, this is a place to visit for cold beers, good ribs and great ambiance.

Good BBQ

My friends and I stopped in for brunch and we had a good time. The staff was very attentive and quick. The food and drinks were delicious and not badly priced. I had the monkey bread (which was awesome!), mac 'n' cheese which was nice and creamy, half a chicken and fries. I definitely recommend the mac 'n' cheese and the monkey bread...perfection! Also my friendly highly recommend the bloody marys which comes with a small beer. Worth checking out!

Fun bbq place!

It was okay

Great service, meat on the ribs was dry. We were really looking forward to ribs in Chicago. Disappointing😕

Great BBQ - not so good "sides"!

By MargeK2013 |

Always great BBQ -- sides are not as good. Cole slaw contains cilantro -- ugh! Told waitress menu should mention this as many, many people (including myself and Julia Child!) can't stand the taste or smell of cilantro! Hubby ordered the collard greens and found that they were not boiled but just raw with oil dressing. He couldn't finish eating this "salad" and later said it was like eating grass! Surprised that the chef's "creativity" was not so palatable!

Great BBQ!

Visited on a busy Sunday but we were able to get seated at the bar right away. Tried the chicken nachos first, they were very good. Both the brisket and the pulled chicken were just smoky enough and came served on a slice of bread with original sauce. Personally I preferred the sweeter sauce so next time I would ask for that when ordering but it was fine, I added plenty upon arrival. Meats were tender and flavorful, no complaints. The cornbread was outstanding, I really liked that, I also enjoyed the baked beans, if you like meat in your beans try these. Cole slaw was above average and fries were about average. Also had the Wrightwood salad which was described as one of the best salads she had ever had by my wife, I did not get a sample. We were too full for desert this time but will try next time. Found the portions adequate and the pricing fair, Parking was the only real issue and it was not that bad. Will definitely visit again to try the ribs and desert!

Great Brunch and Outdoor Seating

By Krazyfamily |

We went for brunch on a Sunday morning and found ourselves a table outside right away overlooking Division St. Our waitress arrived quicky with waters for us and took our drink order. The award winning Bloody Mary was recommended to us by family so we ordered it. The drink comes with smoked beef brisket and pulled pork as well as a pony bottle of beer for $8. We decided to split the pulled pork Benedict with cheesy hash brown and it was delicious. They even brought it out already split for us and it was still plenty of food for each of us. Our waitress was very friendly and took good care of us. Everything we ordered was very good and we look forward to going back and trying other items.

best pulled pork sandwich in town

By iku78 |

We ordered rips, pulled pork and salads. It was just delicious and the portion was totally ok and on a good standard. I don't like this to much thing USA style. It was just perfect and nice waitresses. Good vibes, live music and a cool atmosphere.

Excellent BBQ in Chicago

By Jay661 |

Just finished lunch at Smoke Daddy BBQ. Started with jalapeño cheese hush puppies - absolutely awesome with sweet and spiced green sauce. We followed with baby back ribs, brisket and pulled chicken. All great. Plenty of craft beers and reasonably priced drinks. Great restaurant in happening Wicker Park neighborhood.

Amazing BBQ and service

First impressions....:)

By Dnc6471 |

We just landed at O'Hare, got the rental and found the hotel. We were hungry. We saw the joint across the street. We weren't disappointed. Sandwiches were filling and tasted of good levels of smoke. Meat was tender and the bun held up to the que and the sauce.

Pretty good BBQ

By RickHLihue |

There were seven of us hitting Smoke Daddy at once. They found us a place to sit very quickly. The service was exceptional for a bar. Great Bloody Mary drinks there. Overall we all enjoyed out time there but my ribs were so over cooked that it was like eating leather. Everyone else had good to really good food. Plenty of food served. We would go there again but I wouldn't hesitate in sending the food back next time. The manager went out of his way to hail a couple of cabs for us, even though he went out in the cold rain without a raincoat to do so. Does a place get any friendly than that?

Bland for BBQ

By BeachBumBunny |

I had been wanting to go to this BBQ place for a while. We were seated right away. There was a guy singing live which was nice. I got the rib tips and was surprised by the huge size!!! To me this is not a good thing. The flavor was not good, bland for BBQ. If you are a vegetarian, do not get the baked beans! There is meat in them. The Mac and cheese was OK but I have had better. The sweet potato fries were good but had to ask to make fresh ones without the cinnamon sugar. I may go back for the $6 burger on Wednesday, or not.
