Good Food - Great Friends

By slydevil03 |

There are two locations, one on Shepard north of I10 and the other off of TC Jester. Their food is good and many selections. Reasonable prices and great staff at either locations. Both places have a large private room for special occasions.

Quirky restaurant with a cult following

By DThomasX |

People who know about this Heights- area eatery in Houston and like it become enthusiasts with a near-religious devotion, it seems. Why? The offbeat menu is huge, almost overwhelming, with dishes you never would expect (portabella crab cakes, Italian nachos with won-ton chips and banana peppers, and Mexican-stye calzone, to name a few). The atmosphere is family- friendly chaotic, noisy and comfortable. Prices are great-- Southwestern lasagna for $9.95 and shrimp scampi for $12.95. Why aren't we all worshippers? The food is good, but not great. Service is slow and haphazard. And it's hard to carry on a conversation because of the noise. I went here with a large group of business associates while I was in town to discuss a project, and it was probably not the best place for the occasion, even though it was fun. Recommended, but I won't be drinking the kool-aid.

Still really good!

2nd visit here and Diane C. took care of me again. I order the grilled salmon pasta and it was very good and tasty. If you like capers and artichokes this is your dish! I couldn't finish the meal, but it may be because I couldn't stop eating the breadsticks Diane C kept bringing. I guess I could have said "no" but it was just too good!

Sergio Leone would be pleased.....

By Lspdoll |

With a name like that, our group of 4 had to give this place a try. We're glad we did. While the food was good (not great), the theme and the ambiance were fabulous. The menu had an Italian/Mexican flare-Italian enchilladas, for instance, a manicotti meets enchilada sauce affair, a calzone was billed as a supersized empanada-and the room was awash in spaghetti western movie posters and Mexican motif. Just a fun and different place for a meal. Glad we went.

The Best!

T.C. Jester location. We visit at least 3 times a week. The staff is so attentative and give us the best service. Jenny, the bartender is the best, friendly and nicest person, Sara, the waitress is very caring. Andrew the waiter is beyond the best in friendlyness and service. Never had a bad meal here and will continue to return. So glad they moved into the neighborhood.

My favorite sit down in Houston!

By wesbeartx |

Come dressed up, come casual, its all good here. Great Italian fare, great American fare, and some super combinations that shake up the local Italian scene. I've never had a bad meal there, and the service has always been prompt and friendly. This is the place I think of first when I want to take visitors to someplace casual yet tasty. For a great appetizer, try the Italian nachos, and remember, even the half order is quite large. All the pastas are good - try the chipotle alfredo, its got a nice kick. Prices are great, they aren't going to make a huge dent in your wallet. The name comes from both the inside decor, a fun collection of movie posters, mostly of the 60s and 70s Italian "spaghetti westerns" and other cheesy and fun Hollywood western/action movies, and from the great Italian/Southwest fusion fare. I can't recommend this place enough!

Must-visit Italian restaraunt!

By MAB82 |

Easy access from IH-10 & the Heights. Great family feel and awesome Italian food. Had the Calzone which was excellent and could easily feed two. The BBQ pizza was some of the best we've tasted. Spaghetti entrees also very good. Although they were hit with a large party, Brian and Daniel accommodated our needs very well. Would definitely recommend getting here.

Western Eclectic

By AnnQT |

I had the opportunity to visit the Spaghetti Western for the first time to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday (her choice- she was looking for good spaghetti) it was a fabulous meal! When we first walked in (parking was in the back) my first thought was how were they going to accommodate 17 people- there was a bar & maybe 12-15 tables- mostly filled. When given the reservation - we were happily escorted into the BIG room where our table was already set. 😀 happy dance! The menu is eclectic with something for everyone. To start- the very best melt in your mouth breadsticks -free! I selected the pecan crusted catfish topped with crawfish Ă©touffĂ©e with a side of Orso (fancy rice)- very good mixed with spinach & peppers (fluffy- not sticky!). My husband chose the Cesar salad- crisp & tasty and the grilled pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes & asparagus - let me tell you, he can be very picky , but he all but licked his plate clean! Service was exceptional good- friendly, attentive, & anticipated our needs. I would definitely recommend this place!

Yummy!

I just love Spaghetti Western! The food was great! Service was great! It is great place to go with friends or family.

Great little Italian Restaurant!

By texasgirl1969 |

Hubs and I had dinner last night, 7/14/12 at this restaurant and we both found it to be very good. Service was great and the waiter really knew what was good and what to recommend. I had the regular margarita and hubs had the italian margarita(italian has a shot of amaretto). Both were VERY good! The bread is very similar to Olive Garden and the house salad was DELICIOUS! I had the Spaghetti Western Formal Wear (pasta with sundried tomatoes, chicken) and it was quite yummy! Hubs had the classic Calzone and it was loaded with sausage, pepperoni and cheese...it was HUGE! We will definitely be back!

Neighborhood Staple

By HoustonChris |

Many Restaurants have come and gone in this area since Spaghetti Western opened. SW has managed to provide a great meal at a good price with friendly service for over a decade.

Great

By krpen71 |

Been going here for years good food good prices and good service just a solid place to go and have a nice meal.

Great food

By wes607 |

We went to the other location on Tc jester and really enjoyed it. Our large group sampled many of the entrees and there were no complaints. Very good food and service with a fun atmosphere. I had the southwestern lasagna and loved it. Would highly recommend

Great flavors at a reasonable price with a friendly service

By LoveToTravel0007 |

You wouldn't go here for the decor or the ambiance. At least, I didn't find those to be noticeable. The food, service and value are superb, though. Recently went here for dinner and ordered the Scallopine Chicken (Sauteed with capers, mushrooms, artichokes, and smoked bacon topped with lemon butter with a side of fettuccine alfredo) and the Marsala Chicken (Sauteed with mushrooms in a marsala wine sauce witha a side of fettuccine alfredo) and they were both full of delicious flavors and cooked to perfection. At $12.95, you can't get this value in most Italian restaurants in Houston. The waitress was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable time. A bottle of Italian Pino Grigio was $24 and we enjoyed it with our food. The only drawback was the smell inside the restaurant. It smelt like an old bar that hasn't been cleaned in a while. I almost left because of that as I have a sensitive sense of smell but glad I didn't.

Excellent Italian food

By ACRobRay |

We spent a lovely evening with our cousins at that place thanks to a very friendly and efficient waiter. The food was great, the portions huge and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. A great place for a meal with friends or family. We'll come back for sure !

Really good food and service.

By wes607 |

Really good food and service. I recently ordered the meatloaf with steamed spinach and mashed potatoes. I can’t believe how far my expectations were exceeded -WOW!!!! Delicious. I came very hungry and could barely finish the large size I ordered. I highly recommend!!

Very Rustic - Look for Clint Eastwood!!!!

By Thom P |

Can be difficult to get in and out during rush hour due to the location. Vert rustic and quaint facilities. Decent selection of food items, with something for everyone. Can't complain about the quality and quantity. Good for a small or large group.

Very nice salad

By petra3continents |

Joined a big group of people for dinner. We were more than 40 people, and serving us took some time, but not as much as expected. Ordered a Caeser salad with grilled chicken. It looked good and tasted good. Had a glass of house red, which was very pleasant, slightly on the sweet side. Everybody around me seemed very happy with their food.

Recommended as a nice neighborhood eatery

By kayak-atitlan |

I was visiting friends and they suggested the Spaghetti Western on J.C. Jester for our evening meal. I was very happy with each of the five dishes I sampled from our table. We had a nice cross section of the menu, some pizza, some pasta, salads, and appetizers. The service was good, the beers were cold, and the food was good quality and fresh. The manager came to our table to check on the experience, which I always appreciate. I can recommend this place and will be back.

Great Surprise

By TAMAN1951 |

Ambience is not so appealing but do not let that discourage you. Food is very good and much better than anticipated. Bread sticks are heavenly. Light and fresh. Warm from the oven. Spaghetti and meatballs are very good as is the garlic bread. The spaghetti western formal is great. Roasted garlic cream sauce with sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms and chicken. Chocked full of flavor. Very attentive friendly service. Great prices.

Excellent food taste and quality

By Mary W |

This would have been a 5 star, but the noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation. We had the meatloaf, shrimp pasta, spaghetti and meatballs, and duck and sausage gumbo. All dishes were plentiful, very good quality of ingredients, and very tasty. We went on a Friday night, without reservations. Had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Their drinks are generous in size and taste. We will be back

Very Good Place for Dinner

By CorvetteTraveler77 |

Dinner here on Thrusday evening January 12, 2012 with a business associate. Local place, local owned. Lots of people from the neighborhood came in for dinner. We both had spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs plus bread, wine and coffee. There is a bar plus the dinning area. Good food, good service and moderate prices. Free parking in back. Will return here again.

Friendly night out.

By jacktn13 |

Friends invited us out to an old favorite of theirs. It was step back in time in a good way. It was decorated in old western movie posters that demonstrated the restaurant name. Now to the important part the food. Our food was fantastic, the shrimp scampi was very flavorful and shrimp cooked perfectly and the meatball sandwich, the meatballs were wonderful. Our friend had the pizza and it was very good and homemade. The food coming out of the kitchen looked great. Next time may need to have the meatloaf. The prices very reasonable all most a bargain. And the service nice and friendly. Got to go back.

Good Food, Cool Theme!

By Ben C |

If you're not familiar with the movies called "Spaghetti Westerns" you might not get it at first, but if you were raised on Spaghetti Westerns starring Clint Eastwood it will all make sense. The Spaghetti Western theme of the restaurant is seen throughout the decor as well as the menu of delicious Italian and Southwestern dishes. Delicious Italian style lasagna is countered by a fabulous Southwestern lasagna and so on. The food was good, the service was great, prices were reasonable and it was a lot of fun! Certainly worth the visit.

Accommodated large group

By Pamela J |

We had 30 gather for dinner all with separate checks and not everyone on the same check sitting together. Our server kept up with us perfectly! The food was average and we didn't see that they were known for something specific. A lot of seafood choices too

Fresh Classic Italian Food

By Gallivantress |

My husband and I have been enjoying the food at the Spaghetti Western on Shepherd Drive in Houston for more than 10 years. The restaurant was named after the westerns filmed in the 1960s & 70s by Italian companies hence the name Spaghetti Western. Clint Eastwood starred in some of the most memorable of these films. Posters from these movies and other westerns adorn the walls. The atmosphere is casually romantic and the food is classic Italian fare, and always fresh and tasty. Over the years, we’ve tried almost every dish, and all are very fine. My favorite is the grilled salmon which I love with a side of their exquisite marina sauce. It comes with a caper sauce but I cannot resist the taste of savory marinara. My husband is fond of the Portabella Crab Cake, and the sauteed spinach served with cloves of garlic. The large menu has plenty of selections for both carnivores and vegetarians. The house wine is excellent and a large pour at a reasonable price. My husband cannot resist the Italian Margarita—a Margarita with a shot of Amaretto. Not as big a glass as Margaritas at most Mexican restaurants, but it packs a wallop! I have to drive home after he has one!

Italian fusion at its best

By KNITexan |

The minimal parking in front shouldn't put you off because there is more in back and the play on Mexican meets Italian is well worth it! There are a couple of things that I love to get - the Italian Nachos, the Formal Wear pasta, their house salad and table bread are all amazing - you can't go wrong. The decor is very western but it's warm and inviting so if you haven't gone.. you really should!

Large Portions, good service and Vegetarian options

By bacrowe |

9/1/2013 side salad for hubby$2.95 canoli $5.95 Italian nachos $7.95 spaghetti with meatballs $9.95 veggie sandwich $7.95 Southwestern lasagna $9.95 service and satisfaction PRICELESS. This was our first visit and it did not disappoint. We did have to seat ourselves which was fine because we were able to sit anywhere. The server George came to our table and satisfied our beverage order and was nice enough to inform us that he had to leave and Martha would take care of us and that she did(very nice service). The portions were HUGE. My daughter had the 1/2 order of the Italian nachos and they were large enough for 2. My veggie sandwich was cut in 1/2 and I still could not eat it all. My husband was really impressed with his order and last, the canoli were awesome and fresh. WE WILL return.

Unusual menu but good reasonably priced food

By Gene F |

Food was good and lunch prices were very reasonable, Portions were large. I ordered Calzone, ate half and took other half home for lunch next day. Menu was a little unusual as it included Italian, Mexican and Seafood. Italian - pasta, pizza & others; Mexican - Italian nachos & enchilada, Seafood - catfish & shrimp po'boys. Décor - 1950/1960 Western Movie posters.

Will not return again

By weekendspecial101 |

I am very disappointed with the staff at this restaurant. Spaghetti Western has always been a favorite of ours for quick family friendly dining. We tell our friends about it all the time. This evening, however, we invited some friends to come dine with us. As soon as we arrived the waitress was very curt with us when she asked how many in our party. I didn't think too much of it since I figured they were busy. Then she yanked the chair from one of my friends when she tried to put it close to the table. When the waiter finally came with the drink orders he opened a straw (ew) and threw it into my other friend's drink. Her baby was being whiny and crying and the waitress came over to tell us that we needed to take him outside because "this is a restaurant!" WTF Keep in mind this is supposedly a family restaurant and not only that but there were other babies there that were also crying. She followed that with "I don't mean to be offensive." I told her, she was being very offensive and that this was a family restaurant. I told her that we may never come there again and she was indifferent. Needless to say we will not be returning there.

Spaghetti Western Italian Cafe - Neighborhood delight

By Sue S |

It's been a few years since we were here last and I forgot how good everything is! We had a large party and were seated in the side room - Our server was friendly and very good. She offered suggestions, had a quick wit and provided prompt excellent service. The soft bread rolls to start the meal were oh so good and melted in your mouth. The large group ordered a variety of items and enjoyed them all. I had the shrimp pasta served with spinach, pine nuts, angel hair pasta with a savory marinara sauce - delicious. Another had the crab cakes on Portabella - fantastic - others had spaghetti with meatballs, grilled pork chop and only left the bone! Another had the ugly pizza - grilled chicken, red onions tomatoes and spicy tomatillo sauce - crisp thin crust and great mixture of tastes. Everyone enjoyed the feast and service - This time we won't wait so long to come back - - too good not too! Plus the frozen margaritas were a big hit!

Good food

By Jeff T |

Portions are very large. Wait staff is excellent. Take is very easy. Bread sticks are the best around.

The best

By tyriag |

I got the Man Special and my friend ordered the shrimp and crawfish pasta. The waitress was awesome he had about 7 tables he walked with drinks, bread, and food wait was about 5-10 minutes apart from he other. The food was very tasty, hot and the plate was loaded. We had to take a togo box. That is some of the best food. The bread was so good and hot and light. You have to try it.

Crazy good

By Folty |

Light and delicious bread. Real bread, not the dense sticks you get at a chain restaurant. Menu has variety and catchy names. The food is fresh, and unlike most places, they have a reduced portion at dinner if you want it. (Except lasagna.) I love being able to get a reasonable portion. The veggies were fresh, the pasta perfectly al dente, and the sauce seasoned perfectly. Side salad was awesome in its freshness - the lettuce was crisp, not one wilty leaf. At my request, waitress brought the dressing on the side to avoid sogginess - one of the grossest things that can happen to food. She even brought us a second type just because we wanted to try it. The service was impeccable, even though we were there at an off time. Tiramisu was divine, of course. All under the watchful eye of spaghetti western movie posters. Very kitsch and quirky. Great food, great setting. The good, the great, and the best. (There is no bad and ugly.)

Great place

By Ellen S |

This is a clever, fun place with great food. The atmosphere is filled with fun posters and old movie memorabilia. The Italian nachos are a must as an appetizer. The hot. Read that they bring immediately is delicious. We all had a variety of food from meatloaf to veggie pasta to chicken scaloppini. All delicious. We will go again the next time we are in Houston.

Love the ambiance, food was OK

By EricSD |

I love the concept, the spaghetti western decorations, the casual atmosphere. My food wasn't great. I went for the shrimp and crawfish fettucini alfredo. The shrimp were like brine shrimp, all about 1/4" long. The alfredo sauce, which is usually rich and creamy was like watered down skim milk and didn't have any flavor. My wife had the Enchiladas Italians and it was really great. So, we had a very mixed experience, one dish was great and another was terrible. There are other things on the menu that looked interesting so we'd probably give it another shot, but I'll stay away from anything shrimp or alfredo/cream sauce next time. The owner/manager was there and the waiters all seemed to care. I hope they are successful.

Loved it both times I went. Great food and movie posters

By HungryDave1 |

This place has great Italian food and a few surprises as well. I had pecan crusted Catfish with sauteed spinach and this pasta that looks like rice. Delish! The food is great. The service is great. The Sergio Leone posters are great too. They have one night where they show one of those Spaghetti Westerns but I forget what night. You will have to call and ask. This place is located on Durham (Sheperd) just shy of I-10 inside the loop. It is south of the Heights.

Great for Groups

By Bud K |

Great Italian food real veal in the veal Parmigiana, sausage is mild and tasty. Pasta firm not al dente. Great for groups room in back and they offer separate checks making life easier for the organizer. Service was very good considering the large group we had ( about 25)

New favorite!

By rjlit |

Looking for something different, we came across Spaghetti Western Restaurant on Shepherd. Very good choice! Casual atmosphere with great service, good recommendations, and a varied menu with reasonable prices. Excellent Italian Margarita and best margarita pizza in town. We have found a new favorite!

Great eats in the Heights!

By econotraveller41 |

My server, Diane C, was the best! She was very friendly, attentive, and took care of me on my visit! I had a client visit in the area and remembered a friend of mine loved this place. I am glad I went because the food was fast, good, and not too pricey! I ordered the Chicken Chipotle pasta and it was a generous portion and piping hot. The pre-meal bread sticks were really good and almost melted in my mouth. I definitely recommend this spot, plus Jax grill and Cadillac Bar are nearby. I plan to come back w/ the family or on a date night w/ my wife!

Love it, love it, love it! Great casual Italian dining. Love the margharita pizza and the house salad!!

Very Good Food and Nice People

By HerbertW3 |

I dined at this restaurant with my daughter at lunch. It was fairly busy for a midweek lunch time. The restaurant is about 10 minutes from downtown and about 15 minutes from Greenway and Galleria, so it is a good central location to meet for lunch. It is located on Shepherd among numerous other restaurants including Jax Grill, Salt Grass and Cadillac Bar. I have now eaten there several times and the quality is consistent. The portions are rather large which makes the value very reasonable. I did notice on the menu that you can request smaller portions, and I assume they will reduce the price somewhat. The wait staff is always very pleasant and attentive. The calzone I had was delicious and huge. The pasta always is very good. We do enjoy the breadsticks that are brought out before the meal.

Best Lasagne!

By Laura N |

We go here for lunch once a week and love most everything but the lasagne tops the list. It's enough for two and comes with the most delicious soft bread sticks in town. The house salad is also great along with the lunch pizza. However, the crust is different at night and not my favorite.

VERY GOOD Down home italian in houston

By bruce p |

Went on a trip to houston with my bro who lives there and recommended it. Very good food from calzone to spaghetyi and all in between Hearty portion. Great friendly service, ask for Athena. Ambiance is that of a quaint family home....dont be expectin somethin like olive garden. Very popular with locals

Lasagna wasn’t very good!!!

By Jared |

The staff was nice but I wasn’t impressed with the food at all. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day but for me I only took a couple bites then just paid and left.

There is a good reason it has been here for 19 years!

By Teresa H |

Wonderful food, all homemade and delicious! An unassuming but absolutely delicious experience and we will be back! I had the Pomodoro Pasta and it was spectacular and the bread sticks are delicious and warm. Fresh ingredients and homemade food at its finest!

Italian Food with Low Prices and a Great Atmosphere

By zeke h |

This is a great Italian restaurant for families. It is big and open, with tons of options. Our family loved the pizza and spaghetti. I eat gluten free so it was hard to find something on the menu, but they ended up having some great salad options. The staff was friendly, maybe a little short, but nothing too noticeable. If your family is in the mood for some Italian food and you need a place the kids can be kids, give this place a try. Enjoy!

One bad apple (server) spoiled the whole bunch.

By Mark M |

Good food, however, our server was Tyler and he spoiled the entire dining experience for my family. This was at their TC Jester location. Many happy people at the bar but our server was obviously having a bad day. His service was beyond poor which matched his attitude. Our children even noticed his attitude and wanted to leave before our meal was over. No tea refills, no thank you, no pleasantry what so ever. Food was good but if we visit this location again, I will request a differant server.

Great food - kind of a hidden gem

By Matt S |

I have driven past this place several times without giving it much thought. We thought we would give it a try for a late lunch. Its not a huge place - about a third of the place inside is a bar, but plenty of seating in the main area and plenty good for kids. We had several different hoagies and a pasta dish at the table. All of them were really good. The bread is very light and crunchy crust. Italian hoagie was awesome. Its an un-assuming place, dark walls and lots of old movie (spaghetti western) posters on the walls. Will half to try this place again.

Walk away. Nothing good here.

By columbusJO |

Ambience is cheesy like the nachos and pizza. Way to much. The bread rolls were raw. The pizza dough was uneatable. No way I would go here again

My new favorite restaurant!!!!!

By N. Bravenec |

I have eaten at this location 3 times and every time was a fabulous experience. The service is friendly and fast and the food is exceptional! One of those times was at a reunion of close to 50 people (we had the private room) and there were absolutely no complaints. I have also eaten once at the location on W. TC Jester and it was just as good an experience as the ones at the S. Shepherd Dr. location. Try them both! Anything you order will be delicious!

Still great

By Jorge P |

Located in the Heights area. It was great when I first visited over a decade ago and it’s still great now. Great atmosphere as always. Food top notch. Servings out of this world. In the pictures is the kids pizza (large enough to food to kids) & the other is the blackened chicken

A Nice Place To Eat Italian

By Denise R |

It is a nice little place to eat you set yourself and hope the wait staff finds you but that kind of adds to the small charm of this place the food is wonderful !!!can't bet the price for a BIG Lunch!!!!

Great Food Reasonable Prices

By David S |

Even though we don't live near downtown, we visit both locations every chance we get. In the last year or so a new location opened up on TC Jester in addition to the original on Shepard. The food is excellent and very consistent at both locations. The service is always spot on. I always get the Formal Wear pasta with chicken and my wife orders the pork chop. These are obviously our favorites but we have enjoyed other menu items also. The wine list is not extensive but more than adequate and very reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back.

Amazing!

By Agarcia98 |

My dad took me here a couple years ago. Then I took my picky husband. It's now our favorite place to eat and have been here for several valentines days! With food this delicious who cares about service. Try their Italian nachos!! Different from anything we've ever had.

Spaghetti Western is a Great Find!

By Allison T |

Two friends of mine and I get together every few months to catch up over dinner. We have been going to another Italian place on Kirby that is pretty good but we wanted a change of scenery. I am glad I had heard from friends this place is good otherwise I probably wouldn't have thought to try it. The atmosphere is kitschy and comfortable. It has just the right amount of volume to hold a nice conversation and the waitstaff did not seem to mind one bit when I half-jokeingly said we would be there a long time. We got suggestions for what to order and it turned out really well. One of my friends had the biggest calzone I have ever seen (and I make huge ones at home), my other friend had their southwestern lasagna (I have never seen her finish a plate of food before and she would have licked it if she could) and I had the crabcake on top of a portebello. Delicious! We also had wine a side salad, a desert and coffee. All great! My entire bill came up to $31.00. It would have been $60+ elsewhere and probably not as tasty. When we left my friend's car wouldn't start. Even the customers are friendly because a very nice woman helped us find jumper cables (very nice bartender lent them to us) and a wonderful man having a drink at the bar cleaned the battery with coke and jumped her car. Neither of us had to ask, he just popped right up. Other than the traffic that sometimes crowds up Shepherd, it was a great night. I will be bringing my husband back soon.

Consistantly Delicious Italian Food

By Gallivantress |

There are two types of Italian restaurants near us: those that focus on more formal dining and the neighborhood places that have a cozy local feel. Of the latter, our favorite in Houston is The  Spaghetti Western.  Posters from western movies--every Italian-made western we know of and a few more--line the walls. But some flamboyance in decor never brings us back to a restaurant  only the food does, and here the food is consistently great. We have been coming here for more than 15 years. Many of the same folks still work here as servers and always make us feel welcome in fact the entire staff makes us feel welcome! Our favorite dishes are the lasagna, the grilled salmon, and the delicious meatloaf. If you want a dish slightly different they make it your way. The Happy Hour here is amazing with an ample wine pour and husband loves the Italian Margarita which we have never seen anywhere else.  We make this restaurant a weekly stop!

Disaster group reservation

By TrumpetDude |

Despite having a large group reservation several weeks in advance and confirming the details with the manager, Tyler, the group of 45 arrived and had one server. The one server, Aylin, tried her best. The arrangements were confirmed firmed on 4 different times, including the day of the reservation. Three hours after arrival the last meal arrived. In addition, the cleanliness of the restaurant was questionable- dirty plates and tables. We will never return to the W. T. C. Jester location.

A local experience

By J M |

Spaghetti Western is one of our local restaurants and we are frequent diners there. We dine there at least once a week and the menu contains a variety of dishes (pizza, salads, sandwiches, pasta, other entrees); On Thursday nights, it is Steak night and we usually like to go on Thursday to enjoy a rib eye steak and baked potato for the great deal of $12.95. Athena and Jessie are great wait staff. I would recommend Spaghetti Western to those who wish to enjoy a "down to earth" dining experience.

The absolute best Italian comfort food

By Darren D |

This is my family's favorite restaurant for Italian food. Truthfully, a "real" Italian might not find it authentic. But if you want fresh-made pizza and pasta with lots of cheesy goodness, this is the place. My son always goes for the spaghetti bolognese. My daughter loves "the bad" pizza. My wife and I either share the pizza or a calzone. And a salad so we feel healthy! Portions are plentiful and prices are reasonable. About $40 for a family of four.

It doesn't have to be fancy to be delicious!

By KOSTx |

Among all the other restaurants over on Shepherd, this one doesn't really stand out. At least from the outside. INSIDE is another story! The decor, a play on the movie genre provides an excellent backdrop to delicious and innovative pasta and pizza. LOVED the house salad, adored the farfalle (bowtie) pasta. Bro in law feasted on a stack of crab cake, chicken, crawfish tails, OMG. He ate every bite! Sister opted for the cheese tortellini and had plenty to take home. The bread was awesome as well. I'll go again. And again.

Great

By KVAMPBELLA |

The service was exceptional. The place was very clean and had lots of parking. The peach bellini was delightful, the salad fresh crisp and tasty, the bread sticks are huge and the spaghetti and meat sauce were good. Overall great price. Full dinner and cocktail under $20

Business meeting

By d_seekingtravel |

First time at this restaurant for a business meeting. The food was a little bland for my taste but the drinks were great.

Best Gluten Free pizza!!!!

By Helen Worthen |

Love this place. Always have/always will. We ate the Bad pizza with a couple of tasty side salads and an on tap brew for a gazillion years! I am grateful to be able to continue eating here after I became Celiac. Their gluten free Bad is great as it has all the same tasty ingredients as the regular Bad pizza. Yippee Skippee I can still continue eating "comfort food" at one of my favorite places in Houston. Check out the movie posters decor featuring Spaghetti Westerns, of course!

From the outside the place is a bit of a dump. But on the inside ..... it's still a dump but that is the charm of the place. The food is very good, the staff friendly and efficient, the portions large and the price reasonable. Kind of a Cheers for pizza.

Not really Italian per se but good food at a good price.

By elgreco_11 |

I grew up with a bunch of Italians from northern Italy. Their food was incredible and so when I go to Italian restaurants, I have to use what I grew up with as the standard bearer. (My perception of good Italian food were confirmed during my trips to Italy itself). In the U.S. we got tons of people with Italian ancestry, mostly from southern Italy like Sicily which is cool but has different food from that found in northern Italy. The U.S. also has millions of Italian restaurants but to tell you the truth, nine out of ten are really bad and nothing like the food you would find in Italy. Add the foodservice industry vendors providing their bland flavor to everything and you endue with even worst food. Then, there are restaurants like The Spaghetti Western. It's not really Italian in flavor but still a pretty good meal for the price. One of my favorite dishes is the spaghetti with meat sauce with a house salad before it. They will bring you some thick bread sticks (you can eat as many of those as your stomach will fit before exploding). I like that dish very much even though the pasta is not al dente nor pure durum pasta and the meat sauce is not really like the Napolitan RagĂș you find in Italy and finer places. Nothing here is fancy but there is some comfort with the fact that the food tastes good in its own way. If your seeking real Italian food in Houston, go to Giacommo's. This place is not anywhere authentic but it is tasty and worth a visit. Plus the price is good and you can eat until you die for around 16 bucks, (even though it's not a buffet).

Simple place, good food, great service.

Tried this place last week. Always go to the same restaurants so wanted to try sometng new. I had read the reviews so my friend and I decided to try It. The food was very good but the service, even though it was very busy shined. It was quick and attentive. It's a very casual place, they make you feel at home, I'll be back again,

Really good food, fun place

By MickellM |

If you are looking for fancy Italian...this is not the place. If you’re looking for really good, moderately priced Italian food in a casual and somewhat quirky atmosphere. This is your place. The shrimp & crawfish pasta (fettuccini Alfredo) was amazing, the blackened tilapia was really good and cooked well & even the kids spaghetti & meatball was tasty. Generous portions, but none were left on our plates. Give it a try.

Good Basic Italian Food

By M H |

This restaurant actually has two locations, one on Shepherd and one on T.C. Jester. They are both the same in menu and quaility but the T.C. Jester location has more room and is newer. The fare is traditional Italian and while not designer chef quaility it is very good, tasty and excellent for the price. Spaghetti is good, Calzones are huge and easily feed two people. They also have a dish called Formal Wear that is bow-tie pasta with alfredo sauce and vegetables that is excellent. They run specials each day and have a Steak Night special. Their bread sticks are fresh and they'll bring you plenty more if you ask. It is a great place for families and large groups.

Huge Servings!

By @NebraskaTexan |

Nice restaurant just off I-10 on Shepherd northbound. Great waitstaff. Portions were huge, but everything was awfully salty. I had shrimp alfredo, and my son had a calzone that was enough for a family! If they would back off on the salt, I'd give it five stars.

Unexpected quality

By Anthony C |

Food here is amazing, quality and quantity for low price.I had the pasta man special which is succulent chicken breast ,massive crab cake sautéed spinach and mushrooms orzo pasta and garlic cream sauce.Delicious. My girlfriend had the tombstone chicken.best value for money meal I've had in the U.S.If you are in the area it's well worth a visit.

Pretty good Pizza

Had the pepperoni pizza. Truly hand made. Pretty good. Ordered a to go and it came out very quick. Too quick, was cold by the time I got it home. Little pricey for what you get.

Delicious Food, Attentive Service!

By Gallivantress |

One of our favorite local restaurants, the portions for drinks and food are generous. The food is deliciously fresh tasting, especially the fish dishes. The servers are very attentive. They will change up a particular entree to to make it the way you want it. Seth and Dianne especially, make you feel like family. The chefs take it from there ..... and you never have to wait, even if the dish you order is not exactly as it appears on the menu.

A fun place with an eclectic menu!

By Dmarkwind |

This is one of those restaurants that makes me wish I had opportunities to try more things from what looked like a very interesting menu! This restaurant is themed and decorated with posters from those Italian-financed, European-produced westerns made between 1960 and 1975. We ended up getting a pizza named after the Clint Eastwood movie, “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly,” and if you’re of a certain age, you’re probably already whistling the theme song in your head. We got the pizza called “The Good,” which featured veggies including zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, broccoli, tomatoes, and portabella mushrooms. They also had an Italian sausage pizza called “The Bad,” and a spicy grilled chicken pizza called “The Ugly.” We enjoyed our pizza, but that didn’t keep me from drooling over other menu selections including Southwestern Lasagna, a Portabella Crab Cake, Shrimp & Crawfish Pasta, Pecan Crusted Catfish, and Shrimp and Scallop Shish-kabobs. Two items that looked especially interesting to me included Tombstone Chicken, which was a grilled chicken breast between two slices of eggplant parmesan topped with field greens, wrapped in zucchini, and served with chipotle alfredo and marinara sauces, and the Spaghetti Western Formal Wear, which was bowtie pasta tossed with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and mushrooms in a roasted garlic cream sauce. Other reviewers complained about the service, but that wasn’t our experience. The waitress/seater did a great job of keeping our water glasses full while tending the whole room and seating everyone who came in. We were impressed with her and the fact that she steered us away from the large Italian Nachos appetizer (won ton chips topped with alfredo sauce, ground sausage, mozzarella cheese, and banana peppers), which definitely would have been too much for the two of us. The smaller version was more than plenty. They offered a run of the mill assortment of desserts. We had a piece of Key Lime Pie and it was good, but none of the dessert listings were as imaginative or eccletic as the entrees. We found this place by accident while on a Texas vacation, but would go back in a second if we had the chance.

Cute Cafe

By tazman1099 |

Interesting twist on Italian. We had the Shrimp & Chicken Pasta, and Southwestern Lasagna. Both were good. The cream sauce of the pasta tied the dish together well. The chipotle sauce in the Southwest Lasagna was very different, but good. A surprise twist that just worked. Staff was very friendly. Meal for two was just under $30, before tip. We will likely return, probably for steak night where a 10 ounce ribeye with baked potato is cheap.

Surprisingly good food

By Kathair |

With a name like Spaghetti Western, we didn't expect much from this restaurant, but as we were guests, we let our friends pick and they had been meaning to visit here. We went to the one near Ella and T.C. Jester, but the menu is the same as the one of Shepherd. As you might expect, they have spaghetti, but they also have a wide variety of other Italian and Italianesque menu items. I had a veggie sandwich with fried eggplant, portobello mushroom, and other veggies, which was delicious. And huge! My husband had Tombstone Chicken, which I was able to sample - also delicious. Our friends also raved about their entrees. Service was prompt and friendly. I would gladly go back to this place.

Afternoon delight

By econotraveller41 |

I have promised to take my wife here for a while after a few solo trips, and I finally got around to it! I am glad I brought her because she thoroughly enjoyed it! It was way too much food for the both of us and it didn't help that we crushed the excellent garlic bread sticks before the food arrived! I ordered and loved the Pomodoro Pasta w/ the artichoke hearts and my wife ordered the Enchiladas Italianas. She was pleased with her choice and let me sample some and I gotta say, I will order that next time. It was very tasty. Until next time...

Great Food, Hit or Miss Service

By Montecore |

I like the food here A LOT...the problem is that the service is hit or miss and usually a miss. The wait staff isn't professional...or at least they don't act it or do a good job with customer service. Most of the time we just have it delivered but last week something strange happened with that. Just so you know...we have been living in the same place since we first started eating at the Spag Western and getting deliveries there as well. So last week I called placed an order and the guy says they do not deliver to where I live. (Its only 1.78 miles away, we measured) I asked if that was new and he proceed to argue with me that they only deliver as far as Studemont. I explained that if the policy has changed that is fine but don't tell me that ya'll haven't delivered here at least 25 times over the past 5 years. To make a long story short he "made an exception" and had it delivered. In fact the same delivery driver asked me how we are because he hasn't seen us in awhile . So the story ends well...but just another reason to back my point about the service.

Very good & unique

By lightkeeper |

Last night we had our annual meeting of the Gulf Coast Court of Chevaliers (Order of DeMolay). The restaurant itself was just awsome & very unique. The meeting room was very nice sized & had movie posters of the classic spaghetti wester genre. Our waiter Greg was just great & well organized for our meeting & just did everything right. The parking of course is a bit difficult, but that's really about the only complaint I have about it. Sounds like I'll be taking my wife here for a date night sometime!!!!

Warm and welcoming

By cnkriegel |

Seat yourself and almost immediately you were waited on. With drinks, you are given a bread basket. Delicious warm breadsticks. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy and makes you feel at home!! Had the blondie pizza and portebella house specialty. Both were delicious and I recommend.

Italy meets Texas!!

By Julie W |

Spaghetti Western offers a new twist on some traditional Italian fare, and an Italian twist on some Tex-Mex staples too! We shared Italian nachos for the table and I was wary but they were so amazing: covered with alfredo sauce and sausage and just all kinds of yummy stuff. I shared Tuxedo pasta with my mom and the kitchen split the plate for us, it was the perfect amount and very tasty. Everybody at the table was very impressed with their food. The drinks were also really great and I just loved how unique the environment and the menu was. Can’t wait to go again!

Excellent and reasonably priced

By JetsetTX |

I recently went with a friend for dinner. We had been here once before several years ago. I remembered the food was good so finally decided to try it again. The food is delicious! The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The drinks are awesome! I recommend the Italian Margarita, careful though it sneaks up on you. I came back the following week with some friends and once again was very pleased with everything. I highly recommend Spaghetti Western, you will not be disappointed.

Unique

By Kris M |

I enjoyed dining here. The service was fast and friendly. The decor was fun to look at and the menu was unique. Some of the items are traditional Italian and there are some that have a tex mex twist. If I make it back to Houston I will have to try their tex mex lasagna.

Great Food

By Rob H |

This place has the best calzone I've ever had, hands down. A convenient location, the friendly staff, and delicious food all ensure that we will be back.

I'll Pass - Not That Great

By dcallawaytx |

We went for lunch on Friday. The waitress started out attentive but that came to a stop pretty quick. She brought the bread no oil and seasonings for dipping. We reminded her BUT I had to go up front and ask again....by now the bread is cold. Asked for red pepper. Again, I had to go up and ask for it. It should be on the table. We both order spaghetti with meat sauce. So she brings up to go boxes - this typically is a signal of "we are ready to go". Check should be next. We had to go up front to get the check. Gave her cash and then it took 9 minutes to get the change back. The food - lacking in flavor.

Always good food

By TXhome1225 |

We've been to both locations often but have been to the TC Jester location mostly in the past year due to convenient location. Both locations have the same menu & we have several favorites we go between. They're always good. Pricing is reasonable & service has always been friendly & efficient. The house side salad goes great with everything from the "Bad" pizzas to the shrimp scampi, the chicken or veal scallopine, or the Stromboli. Only consistent issue is the temperature inside, it's always way too cold: too cold w/ AC cracked way low in summer & no heater in the winter; bring your sweater or jacket!

Great ambiance and good food

By DOCDQ |

The spaghetti western decor was fun to see. Several local beers were on tap. The food was tasty, well prepared and well presented with some interesting choices combining Italian and Mexican food. My blackened chicken pasta was excellent and and my husband enjoyed his tortellini. I wish that I had ordered what my friends ordered which had both a crab cake and chicken and a tasty looking sauce. It was delicious.

Decent Pizza if your in the area.

By foodguy713 |

We visited around 5pm and a Sunday and we were told to seat ourselves which I actually prefer. Our waitress greeted us a few minutes later and I was not impressed initially but it got better. We had the Margherita pizza which my gf loved and I thought it was ok. We also had the sautéed spinach which was almost wilted definitely not sautéed (One way to save on the increasing cost of spinach). The spinach did have roasted garlic cloves that I added to a couple of slices which helped. The side salad had a decedent dressing but black olives instead of greek. I hope this is not coming of to negative because it really was decent (again the gf loved it). Hope this is a little helpful. Oh, the crust is neither thin or thick but all in all it was decent.

Tasty and unpretentious

By blondyandy6 |

I always wondered about this place cause it doesn't fit in on Shepherd anymore. The atmosphere is older and dingy, but clean and the food is wonderful and reasonably priced! The bread is out of this world always liked everything Ive had here and good service! I'll keep coming back!

Best place 2 Carb load before marathon

By Jenniferhaley182 |

My husband was running the Chevron marathon so he needed to carbload. I just tag along for good food. The bread melted in my mouth! And the Spaghetti Western was really yummy but my meal was better. I had the Shrimp Pasta. The spinach tasted fresh. Everyone was very nice. We will be back!

Italian Feast

By Linda Z |

Loved it!! The food, the service, Wine, dessert, ambiance and the history of the building made it a very exciting dinner!! And it's Halloween !!! Janelle our server, Louis the chef and Timothy their manager were very professional!! Very warm and personable! I have to say also that everyone worked together, they had gotten flooded out , the evening before!! So they had a truck out back for ice and made sure the beer was ice cold! They had lost all of their kegs to the flood so my hats off to the staff and the restaurant!'

Italian with a Texas twist

By Connie N |

If your looking for something that is a little unique but has an Italian undertone then this is the restaurant for you! Looking past the kind of worn out look on the exterior and interior, you will not be sorry for your choice of restaurant. The food selections are abundant and the service was quick and friendly.

Fantastic Italian!

By QOE |

I almost hate to tell people about Spaghetti Western because I love it so much and it's already hard to get a table on a Friday night but they deserve the publicity because this place is wonderful! The building is a bit run down and the parking lot is entirely too small but they have a nice patio for outdoor dining and they've recently expanded into a second dining room. They offer a full bar and they also cater. The staff are always wonderful and service is terrific - even when every table is full. They do a great job. The food is just out of this world. They have divine breadsticks to keep you busy while you wait for your meal as well as some interesting appetizers. We really love the Portabello Chicken served with sauteed spinach/garlic and Fettucini Alfredo but even the spaghetti and meatsauce is really outstanding. You can't go wrong! The weak point in their menu, in my opinion, is dessert. They offer several but nothing is star quality. Fortunately, I never have enough room for dessert anyway after a fantastic meal so I am not missing out! Go for the food! You won't regret it.

Delicious Food & Strong Drinks!

By TigerTina301 |

My first time here for dinner with my fiance and cousins. Staff was super friendly, shrimp scampi was DELICIOUS, and Bay Breeze was strong! Very impressed and we will definitely be back again. There is a bar area with TVs and also TVs in the area with tables. Place was clean and service was excellent. Looking forward to returning!

Yummy! Large servings-- great service!

By a_viajera84 |

A true, local gem! We found it on Trip Advisor and glad we did! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Prices were reasonable too!

We always stop here if in the area

By K W |

We eat at The Spaghetti Western when in this area of Houston. Have had many different items from the menu and have always been very please. One of our favorites, and the service is great and just a really awesome place to have lunch or dinner. I am a returning customer.

Pretty Good Italian

By Big_Dave75 |

Stopped by for a late lunch here the other day. The place was pretty empty except for maybe 2 or 3 other tables. We sat down and were brought menus and ordered beverages right away. I had the spaghetti western formal wear. It was bow tie pasta with grilled chicken, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms in a roasted garlic cream sauce. I swear there was some bacon or pancetta in there as well. It was very good. The sauce had a nice garlic kick but not overpowering. The price of $9.95 is also good considering portion size. I like the bread sticks they bring out pre-meal as well. They are a fat bread stick almost like a hot dog bun, but bigger. They are brushed with butter and garlic and topped with Parmesan cheese. Pretty good. Service was pretty good. Not great considering there were so few people there and it took a while for me to get a refill on iced tea. I would return here again and try one of the other dishes they have on the menu.

Not for a large group

By mykewll |

Went to the TC Jester location for a birthday gathering with about 20+ people. Even with a reservation made well in advance, the restaurant still seemed to be caught off guard and was not prepared for a large group. Aside from that, the food was pretty good and served hot. The portions were really large. And the menu had a large, quirky variety. I will return, but with a much smaller crew. My best recommendation...if you are in the area and want to try something different, then you should try it. Just don't expect to be blown away...

Dependably good!

By Sbow2 |

We've been coming here for 8 years and never had a bad experience. The menu is primarily Italian but includes a good selection of other items. Friendly family atmosphere. Food is consistently fresh and delicious. The vegetarian, "the good"pizza the best we've ever had. The prices are reasonable, you'll never experience sticker shock here.
