I'd been looking forward to going to this bar for months but turns out I was too jet-lagged to enjoy it! Booking a reservation online was really easy but getting a bowling lane is not so easy, as obviously it is quite popular. We had a booking at 7pm and this is the time that the bar opens so it was relatively quiet when we first entered the bar. The bar is incredibly stylish with lots of dark wood throughout and it really feels like you are stepping back in time. Our table was next to the lanes and it was great seeing other people play and the wooden lanes are certainly something you want to see even if you can't get a game. There are lots of other parlour games to play but I was far too tired to enjoy all there was on offer. We drank a couple of cocktails, both well made and tasted good but expect to pay slightly more than a regular bar/ cocktail lounge. Worth a few drinks but I think it would be too expensive to have drinks there all night. It might be because I was jet lagged but I did find the music too loud, I suppose I would usually be okay with this but couldnt really handle it that night. Well worth a visit as it really is beautiful

The room was great. Very cozy and quiet. Great view of the Hollywood hills. You are literally on the walk of fame if you are staying at the Roosevelt.

Found out about this place and made a request for a reso. Played scrabble and had yummy drinks while noshing on fancy fries. Great fun!!

Although this is a simply beyond charming room, with two classic bowling lanes, it is overcrowded, and the bartenders never smile.

Located on the 2nd floor of the iconic Roosevelt Hotel, this bar has a hipster feel with an intimate setting. There are two bowling lanes available too. We had no idea the hotel had a bowling alley! Very cool! Though we didn't try it, seems like there was a big demand to bowl. I'm sure it came with a hefty price as well. The bar area when you enter is fairly small and can get cramped easily on a busy night. Luckily, we had a private table and ordered a punch bowl so everyone could have a drink. The drinks were strong and service was great. Nice laid back place to hang out where you can come in jeans or dress it up Hollywood style. My advice would be to dress it up just in case you choose to check out the other bars in the hotel.

One of the hot spots of Hollywood, it can be tough to get into so go early, cocktails to die for! Worth booking the bowling package if you're with friends.

This is in the Roosevelt Hotel, but this is excellent for a group event. They have 2 bowling lanes you can rent for $100 an hour each, even comes with shoe rentals, and your own score keeper. I would recommend getting there early before it gets too crowded, but they have a great bar and a DJ. I made my reservations with Eva Valentine, and she was very helpful and had everything ready for group.

We were walking past a closed door with a security guard outside. He said "are you looking for the spare room ?".He then told us it was an unusual experience. Inside was a small bowling alley, luxury seats and a small bar !!!.Once more great staff and and interesting to people watch.

Excellent steak and service in a modern, dark, "hollywood vibe" hotel ( the Roosevelt).

The Bartender made the best drinks as well as being friendly. I must have had a good time because I can't remember his name1 Very cozy darkly lit and great drinks, will have to go back to bowl!

The door girl with short blonde hair is a complete and utter waste of the money that she is being paid. She definitely needed her head to be pulled out of the place where the sunshine cannot be exposed to. The bartenders were awesome though.

DineLA menu was a good bargain. Pork Belly was fatty tastiness - pomegranates were a nice touch. Petite Filet was a tad too well done for me (I like bloody!) but tender and flavorful nonetheless. Desserts were way too rich for me. Service very good througout.

Fun bar, great drinks and food - speakeasy style. It gets very busy later, better to visit early. Bowling looked fun but it was booked.

This place is very cool and they have fun drinks. Would be great to have a bunch of friends or family to drink with and bowl a few rounds. We, however, just had a drink apiece. I was overcharged a few dollars for one of the drinks; however, when I pointed this out to the bartender (the menu prices didn't match that of the bar system), he gave us the price on the menu which was $2 lower. Very nice service.

Went as a team of 4 and had a great time. There's a freaking bowling alley in there. Scotty was rad and looked after us. Good times had by all.

Great old school atmosphere with a new age twist. Two bowling lanes in the bar. Even when busy the bar tender didn't make you wait long for your drinks.

We were told The Spare Room is usually booked for private parties but if you're able to go then definitely do. The place has "Gatsby" feel to it with dark paneling and small bowling alley along with the leather chairs but the experience is worth it. The cocktail server who took care of us charged our card even though we paid the tab in cash but they took care of it later, hence the four stars. A must do when in Hollywood.

Been to this place twice now. First time was on a speakeasy/bar-hopping trip with my boyfriend, this was our third stop. It was quiet for a Thursday, which was loved. The bartender was struggling to get the drinks handled, my only minor complaint. They have bowling lanes here with old fashioned chalk boards to keep score that are so cute! Their booths are super cozy leather with bookcases to your left and a plethora of board games available. Their drink selection is superb. They even have a secret photobooth towards the front that we discovered when I came the second time for a friend's birthday. Overall, it has a fun fabulous vibe. I would recommend making reservations if you're going to go on a Friday or Saturday because it does get busy. I also think getting a table is totally worth it!

Amazing steaks, great ambiance...inside the beautiful Roosevelt Hotel. :)

The Spare Room - so named for the two bowling lanes in it - is a cute speakeasy-style place located on the mezzanine level a hotel right in the middle of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Enjoy fun cocktails, light food, and a great DJ - even a weekday evening. Fun atmosphere even if the waitresses are a bit standoffish. Adults only - but if you're just killing time, they've got classic board games you can play as well.

Booked a lane 3 weeks out without a clue as to how GREAT this place is. Part night club/ part game room/ bowling lanes this place is pretty incredible. Two lanes overlook Hollywood boulevard and quite frankly I'm thankful my ball did not go through the window. There is a scorekeeper whose name I now forget to help you keep score and things running smoothly who is a great guy. DJ was spinning fun dance tunes, and drinks although pricey are awesome. Hubby and I were probably the oldest ones there lol but welcomed none the less which we appreciated lol💕Definitely want to return next trip back in LA

My husband and I had a fantastic time at The Spare Room. Its a quaint, vintage feel of the prohibition era.. , great way to start the evening with delicious cocktails while playing board games like Jenga or connect the dots.. We really wanted to experience the vintage hard wood floor bowling alley, but it was a booked night, I recommend to call a month before you visit if you would like to reserve a lane. We also reserved a table I also recommend you reserve a table so you can enjoy the scenery and board games.. We did not have anything food wise from the menu but the selection looked great... I would consider this a high end lounge so expect to pay to play...

Old-school table games, two full-on bowling alleys, fantastic coctails and friendly waitresses. Very original place with great atmosphere. What else can you ask for? TIP: Bar is in on M level of the hotel right from the elevator.

Exclusive, over-priced, and disgusting drinks. The drinks are meant to be 'famous' here. The only thing mind-blowing was the VERY high priced beverages. Two narrow bowling areas. The one good thing about The Spare Room was the 'hidden' photo booth!

It was an off night yet the bowling alley was busy. Of course it's easy to be busy with only 2 lanes. These are probably the most exclusive lanes in Hollywood. Cocktails were strong and inventive. Seating looked a little worn so it must be a popular place. Board, card and skill games abound. The night we were there it was populated by the 20-30 something crowd.

The coolest cocktail lounge I've ever been in. Two bowling lanes, but very cozy, fantastic drink menu. Great wait staff.

We popped in after dinner and it was relatively quiet...but not for long! We had a great game of bowling and the girl who looked after us was amazing. Would definitely recommend for some drinks after dinner - great music too!

We stumbled across this place while looking for another bar, and we were super grateful for this fortuitous find. The ambiance is a mix of funky 1960s decor and upbeat (but not obnoxious) trance music. We only had drinks, but they were really good. There’s a bowling alley inside the bar, and I also saw people playing board games. The bartender and other staff were all super friendly and welcoming. This bar is on the mezzanine level of a hotel, so it’s not immediately noticeable from the street.

This is a cool bar that is a throw back to the days when Hollywood's biggest stars came to drink during prohibition. There really is a bowling alley here and the place is always hopping. Worth a visit just because there's nothing else like it.

Enjoy bowling as well as board games, wonderful food and drinks and a good time. A beautiful setting and nice music too.

Great menu! I love that it is open long after everything kinda shuts down and they make the best milkshakes!

A very extensive drinks menu with excellent signature cocktails. The waitress provided excellent service and the drinks were immaculate. Definitely worth a visit!

Did not realise this was a seperate enterprise to the hotel. Tried to book a reservation but no reply to an email given by reception. We turned up anyway to find an event thet wasn't advertised on their website or at the hotel. Only bar snacks & prawn rolls available so just had one drink and left.

A small lunchtime menu which was trying to be more refined.. wider selection needed. Very slow service considering we only ordered sandwiches. Very expensive and not worth the money!

Great setting, fabulous DJ/music, and it was so fun to have your choice of almost any table game imaginable!

If you are looking for a great little spot to hang with friends and escape the masses then venture out to The Spare Room. This jewel is located on the 2nd Floor Mezzanine of The Roosevelt Hotel. Upon entry you will be transported back in time when architecture and style were just as important as the food and beverages. The drinks or shall I say libations are hand crafted before your eyes and they will tingle your taste buds. If you've never had a Moscow Mule this is the place to start. And be sure to get an order of the fries.... Delicious! The Spare Room is appropriately named as it features two bowling lanes. The bowling fee is about $100 for up to 6 people per lanes, reservations recommend. Not your typical bowling alley price but, well worth it for a night of fun. (Not certain of time limit). As far as the staff, I found them all to be happy, helpful and attentive. But beware this place can get pretty busy later in the night and it might take a bit of extra time for them to get to you. Don't worry, they see you and will be there, just wait your turn. Not sure about week days but, on the weekends this place works by reservations. If you are interested in coming with a group, set a reservation so you can be on the list and reserve a table or booth or just come early and take your chances. Almost forget, the bar has a few of games you can play at your table: cards, Jenga etc.. So bring your fun spirit, great friends, your wallet and have fun!

amidst the historical architecture of the roosevelt hotel, this modern twist on a gentlemen's clubroom offers excellent dishes that are complex but pleasing on the palette. it's romantically lit and nearby all the it spots of west hollywood.

Unique setting. Actual bowling alley in the bar. Good food and drink before heading out into Hollywood

It's not often you have a 2-lane bowling alley in your hotel! This bar is simply lovely. Next time I will book a lane in advance.

What a venue. Amazing drinks and amazing service except for the lady on the door. Sorry but im still realing in it. Seriously though, this is one good looking venue

This is one of my absolute favorite spots to hang out whenever I'm in L.A. The atmosphere is so laid back, everyone is really stylish, all the employees just ooze coolness, and the drinks are great. This is one of those spots you have to make a point to go to at least once!

I stopped into the Spare Room every night of my stay for a drink. Love the atmosphere and the staff was great.

We were excited to check out this bar with mini bowling alley. Upon entering the open doors in the afternoon,

Was invited to a business function at The Spare Room, what a great place for that kind of thing. Signature cocktails create by the talented bar staff and you get to play a round of bowls while socialising and networking. This has to be, arguably the coolest blowing joint ever. Make sure you take a walk around the hotel while there, so much history in this place.

Another DineLA Restaurant Week dinner with friends. For $35, we got an appetizer, a 6oz fillet mignon and a dessert. Not bad. Heirloom tomato/watermelon/cream cheese salad had a balanced taste (sweet and tart), also a balanced texture (silky and crunchy). My fillet mignon was too salty and the Bearnaise sauce was not too good as well. Dessert was too sweet.

Had we known about this place earlier we would have visited a few times more, the bar has its own bowling alley (hench the name) a good selection of drinks/cocktails to choose from and board games which was something different. We ended up playing Connect 4 for a few hours without realising the time. A welcome change.

the bartenders were fun and accommodated our tastes. I'd recommend this place especially if you are staying at the hotel

Super trendy and expensive but the drinks were great and the atmosphere was fun! Loved the music too!

Very cool and classy bar with a great nightlife. The two vintage bowling lanes are very nice and bring a nice distinction to this place.

I love the idea of the games. They have chess, yatzy , jenga and many more classic games which you can play for free. Also they have bowling but looked overpriced. Unfortunately the cocktails are not very big, but good quality.

We had a blast at the Spare Room! Bingo! Bowling! A DJ and Fantastic craft cocktails! Save your pennies but the experience is definitely worth it!

Loved the Spare Room, spent the evening playing (winning) a few games of Connect 4 with my husband while enjoying beautiful cocktails, live music, and the sound and sights of people bowling on the vintage lanes next to us.
Just a drink
Had a quick drink on a Saturday night. Very busy. Interesting to see the bowling alley being well used
