Driving up to the restaurant is it bit underwhelming. It is located in a somewhat dated Shilo Inn with limited parking in front (more down below). The Restaurant itself is casual and does the best with the location it’s in. The positive (and why 5 stars) – the Ribeye and Filet Mignon steaks we ordered were excellent! My ribeye was very tender. The ‘demi-glaze’ sauce added great flavor – but didn’t overpower. The service was attentive and professional. A few minor critiques. The calamari appetizer ( ‘steaks” vs. rings) was just OK – panko crusted, but for me too heavy. And the “green bean salad” a little on the vinegary side – will request asparagus substitute next time. Prices were ‘reasonable’ for what we ordered. Overall, a great find on this side of town. Will definitely return when in the mood for a great steak!

When I booked two nights at the Shilo Inn Hotel, I had no idea that within it, would be the best steakhouse that I’ve ever eaten in.

My partner and I always stay in Shilo when we're over in Portland, and the staff are always so courteous and friendly. We tried the NY Steak, I got mine well and my partner had the rib eye rare. We were amazed that the quality and portion sizes were larger than expected and for a reasonable price compared to other popular places we've tried. The juices just flow and were delicious! I also had the chicken and black bean soup to start off and it was the best I have tasted, so creamy and flavors are bomb!!

The food was great as well as serivce. But we had a Hell of a time parking..................way in back of the motel................nightmare of hallways indoors -- outside more than once. If the restaurant stood alone but No!!! Like the fun house at a carnival. NOT m idea for a relaxing evening out!!! I won't go back. Why would anyone put a steakhouse there in a very old rundown motel????? Bates Motel like place OUT OF THE PAST?

Loni, the bartender/waitress was both personable and professional in answering questions and mixing drinks. When we inquired about how she made a spiced old fashion, she brought over the ingredients and explained the process she used. We had the pork tostados as an appetizer which were very good. I was surprised to find a good smoking lounge with a bar at the Shilo Inn. Normally I don't associate that motel chain with smoking lounges. The room itself was large with plenty of tables. We smoked our own cigars which was not a problem. The ventilation to remove smoke was adequate, but not great. I don't think this is a place where a person will explain in detail to you the finer aspects of what makes a good cigar. Still it is a nice place to visit if you want to smoke.

Fine dinning but reasonably priced for that . My hubby had a gr8 porch chop with sides that came with the meal . I had a pasta that had chicken and a smoky flavor sauce with mushrooms . Very hood a change of pace from other pasta . Very hood service . Menu is limited but that’s thru only down fall .

There are actually three dining/drinkiing venues in this building. A streak house, a seperate bar and a seperate cigar bar. The restaurant dinner menu is primarily beef - check it yourself. There were three of us and we found it all very satisfactory. Definitley we will give it another try. Do save room for the (secret) cheesecake for desert. If you are lucky you will get Nasser as your server.

Wow! Was not expecting this place to be so good! First, the restaurant itself has impressive design , very mid century architecture. If they had big red leather booths , you'd think you were in Manhattan (half booths in back part , though bland design) My booth comment is my only complaint. Probably hands down one of the best steaks I've had in a very, very long time! I order medium New York , perfect. Service wast out of the world but, professional and prompt. Dinner plus drinks , $113. Better than Ringside at haly the price , at least! Big fan....will be going back alot.

We decided to go out for a steak dinner last night and I found this place online and made a reservation. It’s located in the Shilo Inn hotel. The place is a dump but was hoping for a good dinner. Appetizer came With our steaks, strike #1, Appetizer was hotter than our steaks and side dishes, strike #2, I had asked to substitute the grilled asparagus for the cauliflower gratin, I received roasted potatoes!! I will definitely spend $85 somewhere else!!

Another couple, along with my wife & I tend to eat out together and we usually try to locate a different place to try each time. We were referred to The 9900 by a friend and we wanted are alway up for a nice dinner that is on the west side of town. We all enjoy our dinner, the steaks were perfect and the Staff was excellent. Parking was kind of funky as you may have to park down the hill and walk up but other than that the atmosphere was good. I know they can handle large parties as they have a Banquet Room and its not as stuffy or formal as one would expect. I would go back.

We were staying in property and decided to try it, I got a ribeye and it came with potatoes and asparagus and it was really delicious! The steak could have used a bit more seasoning and less fat but for the price it was big and cooked perfectly medium rare and it came with sides included. My husband got a burger and fries and really liked it, the burger was huge. Just alright service. I would come back if I was staying by the hotel again.

Lou’s bar was comfortable and cozy by the fire. We entertained family from out of town and on a Sunday night wanted something easy with decent food. I called Lou’s in the afternoon to confirm they had food service as the steakhouse is closed. Lexi was so nice on the phone and really looked over the menu to see if our vegan family member would have options. Then she reserved seats by the fireplace for us! Our server, Mel was just as nice. Let me just say that it’s cozy here, but not luxurious. It’s an old property. But it wasn’t crowded and loud. The food was fine- I love a wedge of iceberg with blue cheese! The fries and onion rings( 3plates with a tangy accompanying sauce)did not last. The beef sandwich was devoured and our vegan family member loved the fingerling potatoes with garlic-(yum) and the asparagus. The service was very good. We will be back.

We have stayed at the Shilo Inn in Beaverton on occasion for years, but this time our stay was different. The restaurant was closed for renovations, so we went to the bar to see if they served food. We were informed that the restaurant, Cigar Room and bar had been sold. The food in the bar was very good(in fact very delicious). The restaurant will be reopening in three or four months, and the menu should be be exceptional. We will revisit in the spring.

We went here when our first choice had a 90 minute wait time. Found on google maps. A little skeptical on arrival to find it within the Shilo Inn. The lobby was not encouraging due to smoke smell from the upstairs cigar room. However, the restaurant itself was a pleasant surprise. Service was good, and VERY flexible. I don't think one of us had a meal straight off the menu. They adapted without demur which was much appreciated since two of us had strict dietary restrictions. Food was the nicest surprise. Steaks were excellent (filet and ribeye). Impromptu vegetarian pasta dish was pretty good. Didn't doo desert here. OK beers in bottles, but nothing on tap. Decent wine list with a pretty broad price range. No carry over from the cigar room :) Ambiance would be much improved with slightly dimmer lighting and maybe candles on the tables. Parking is a tad tricky - best down below but you do have to walk back up to the entrance for the restaurant.

As others have noted, you can't be dissuaded by its location in the Shilo. If you're a foodie, you are compelled to explore a variety of venues: From dives to hawker stalls to food trucks. You can't just settle on 'high end' restaurants, and 9900 doesn't disappoint. The interior is tastefully appointed with a cozy fireplace. We were seated quickly by the fire, and for a period of time, we had the restaurant to ourselves. Our waiter was extremely attentive and provided a nice review of the restaurant's origins and signature dishes. He didn't have to explain much as their menu is quite simple which I particularly like. My wife elected on the beef and barley soup along with a lobster cobb while I ordered the 10z filet. Our starter was the crab gratin along with some strong libations such as 10yr Whistle Pig. The hot bread is phenomenal as was the crab gratin. Our dishes were amazing as well as my filet was perfectly seared on both sides and a nice pink (medium) in the center. It was accompanied by a nice broccoli rabe which was not oily as one may see at other venues. We finished the meal with a coffee creme brulee which was also heavenly. We would definitely return next time we are in town, and I would encourage locals to check it out.

restaurant is way too good for the hotel which is really run down. If the restaurant were a stand alone with Valet Parking and upgraded interior would be among the best in the area. Food was good they had the right Booze and the wine list while overpriced was extensive. Food was exceptional with the exception of the cauliflower which accompanied the 20oz Ribeye. We had three different steaks all done perfect and excellent service. Please move it to its own venue its well worth it

We had a terrific meal at The 9900 -- excellent cuts of beef perfectly prepared, nice sides, and a very nice wine list with several good by-the-glass selections. The service was excellent including a nice visit from the owner Lou to make sure all was well. The ambiance is much like the steakhouses of the 1960-70s, including the quiet Frank Sinatra music and a great cocktail list. The only negative thing we can possibly say is there was an occasional faint whiff of cigar smoke from the cigar room somewhere nearby. However, in a way, that added to the ambiance of a vintage steakhouse and did not negatively impact our meal! We will absolutely be back.

While in Portland, we went to dinner at this small restaurant. Adjoining the hotel best western, excellent cuisine and prepared on site, beautiful wine list and perfect and courteous service. Like at home!

This is a hidden gem. Don't be fooled by the outside. Venture in - you will not be disappointed. Atmosphere, food, and service are Top Notch. Perfect place for a date night, special occasions, or just because.

We met friends during Happy Hour in Lou’s Bar, not to be confused with the 9900 Steakhouse in the same establishment. The term “Bar” is a bit misleading, in my opinion. The room is quite comfortable and includes a cozy area by a fireplace. There are several televisions for viewing. The “Happy Hour” menu is somewhat limited, although all of us found something we liked. A “Full Menu” is available and has a larger selection. Service was excellent. We will return.

I heard a few rumors about about a new steak house in my neighborhood that was getting high praise for the food and service and decided to try it. What a great addition to the neighborhood.Lou Perez a veteran and master of the Portland dining scene has reinvented the space of the former The Mark in the Shilo Inn into a wonderful hidden gem of the neighborhood. This is a fine dining spot with a casual atmosphere. The food is reminiscent of a traditional steakhouse without nickel and diming you to death if you want potatoes or a vegetable. Entrees include the appropriate sides and sauces. Service is professional but not stuffy. The only negative thing I can say about this place is not their fault,it’s the stuffy smelly lobby of the Shilo Inn. Look past that and venture into The 9900, you won’t be sorry!

Went here for a birthday dinner with my wife. We both had the NY steak. It was delicious, cooked the way we liked it. The service was friendly and engaged. The owner came out with our wine and checked in with us later. I appreciated that. The overall cost was less than an more high end steak house, but the quality was comparable.

I made a reservation for our family to celebrate a lovely steak dinner, which is my father's favorite meal. My father also enjoys aged scotch, so everytime he visits us we try good food and good drinks. My experience with this restaurant was terrible to say the least. First of all the service was sloppy, just envision a server tripping and spilling bottles of beer all over our table, seats, and in my baby bag. My seat wasn't cleaned off well, nor extra napkins brought, and no apology. My father sat in a location that backed into a half wall and servers and owner kept walk behind this small space until he asked if there was another way to walk around (there was) and they stopped. We order apps, and drinks while we waited for my husband to arrive. The calamari was made like mozzarella sticks and crab gratin was okay, overall good flavor. We never recieved our ordered steaks and kids order because of the owner Lou. My father ordered another double Scotch (as we had been there awhile) and he told him he couldnt due to Oregon Liquour license or law. I immediately asked server what law and she said Oregon was strict and it was the law. So I looked it up and no they could indeed serve him another. He wasn't visible intoxicated or any such thing, so we asked owner to explain his refusal to serve him, he changed his answer to it was his in house policy. He had the nerve to tell my father to enjoy his family, patted him on the back. Accused him of already having ordered two doubles which my father said was a mistake as my husband ordered the other one. Owner was being very weird toward my dad (discriminatory he is dark Latin Nyer/husband thoughtful was racist) and we decided to leave as we have never been treated like imbeciles at a restaurant when we order expensive drinks, ever! I'm pregnant and was the driver so that wasn't even an issue. We asked for the check and was charged for food that never reached the table (about $90 worth) never ate and never recieved. We will dispute those charges and will obviously not reccommend as family friendly as I had a 1 and 9 year old and had to ask for crayon, even though another table was offered them. Weird vibe, smells like an old cigarette bar the whole time, in a cheap looking Shilo inn. Best news went to another steak house and they never questioned our drink orders, very attentive, and steaks were superb. They told us they never deny a drink unless visible intoxication and the could see this wasn't even an issue. Boo to 9900.

Inside of the Shilo. Less than 10% of tables in use. Menu was bare minimum for a steakhouse. Or maybe a notch below minimum. OK bar, didn't see a tap line, but had some bottled beers. OK wine list. Food OK, but not great.
Great experience
Four family members went to dinner here and all of us were impressed with the great service snd excellent meals! The steaks were done perfectly, the side dishes were great, the mixed drinks were excellent and dessert was made just beforehand. The owner/manager stopped by the table twice to ensure everythig was good and Richard the server was very attentive and did a great job. We will be back!
