Got this recommendation from a local while visiting. Went on a Friday night and had a blast! It is a narrow 3 story bar with game tables (pool, foosball etc), and a club in the basement. Want to go back.

We visiting the Tipsy crow three times whilst in SD . Once for lunch and twice at night for drinks, it's obviously hugely popular with the locals with an upstairs and cellar open when the weekend comes. The stuff are young and friendly and are happy to advise on types of beers etc. The place has an eclectic feel about it especially upstairs, there was a good female guitarist on whilst we were there. We really liked this place and would recommend you visit it.

We enjoyed the uniqueness of the bar and how prices were determined. They had a lot of fun, old school games. Also, had a friendly staff.

My wife and I had an early dinner at The Tipsy Crow on Wednesday, August 15. As we were walking by, we were attracted to the lively atmosphere...lots of patrons drinking, laughing, and having a good time. My wife had the “grilled cheese board” that featured a choice of 2 grilled cheese sandwiches from 4 possible choices. Although, I can’t remember which 2 she choose...she was very happy with her selections. I ordered the roast beef sandwich. It was just, ok. Although the presentation looked handsome, there wasn’t much flavor. It wasn’t bad, I just wish I would have ordered something else. The establishment has a couple TVs that are good for watching sports. Our server was super friendly and efficient. She suggested the Two Towns Cider...it was fantastic.

What a great place to hang out! The bartenders are friendly, especially Baker, the drink choices are excellent, and there's something for every mood you're in. Listen to live music on the main floor, or go upstairs to chill in the lounge and play pool (or even Jenga!) Head downstairs for the dancing! I have also had some food here, and was not disappointed, but wasn't impressed either. Definitely a must see in San Diego!

We stopped by here for a late lunch. We didn't know the area yet but this place looked very inviting. We're so glad we stopped. There were not many people there at that hour so atmosphere was quiet but the service and food were sensational. We understand it is very popular at night with several floors of entertainment.

Great margarita. Nice ambience by the window - so much people watching. I would definitely visit again! Just a warning that the drinks are pricey.

I went here after reading other reviews but was kind of dissapointed. They had a good crowd and drink exchange was unique but prices were very high if you didn't want drink exchange. There are so many other bars in gaslamp our group wished we would have explored the other ones sooner.

Nice food - too cramped inside. Nice to eat outside. Great for people watching.

Was advised to visit this bar by friends as they operate a ‘stock exchange’ concept for buying beers. Up on a big screen you see the cost of the beer fluctuate depending on the volume it is being bought in. Nice service, good vibe and good beer, we will visit again.

Been going here for years. Main floor has lots of TV's and a DJ or live music at night, game room upstairs and later at night there is a dance floor open in the basement. Big crowd on the weekend really gets going after 9 or so. Rotating beers on tap and great specialty drinks. Try the Dark n Stormy!

Cool bar in gas lamp area. Stopped in for pre dinner drink. Great service cool retro music video demos playing. Live music that was really good. Great in a Sunday afternoon not crowded.

The live music and atmosphere cannot be beat. The different levels offer a completely different atmosphere on each floor that makes for fun for an entire group. Small, quiet chatter on the main floor, games, and dancing in the basement. Drinks were pricier, but STRONG. It was a bit crowded, but it was FUN.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and a couple of pints. Good selection of local beers. I went with the meet & cheese platter, which seemed like an odd choice for this kind of place, but I have to say it was DELICIOUS! Big enough to share or have as your dinner.

Little something for everyone here with three levels with different atmospheres. Variety of age groups attending. Expensive drinks. Lots of messy drunk people but its a good time.

This is a great place to visit in the Gas Lamp district for drinks with friends. They do offer a good happy hour especially if your group is into a wide beer selection. The seating area is somewhat limited, but the service and atmosphere is quite fun. There is an electronic beer board to make your selections from so you know what is available and at what prices at any given time. Interesting concept.

We used to like this bar and would come in a lot when we were in town but after last night we won't be bothering again! The barmaid was friendly when we first came in but then became quite rude. My husband ordered a sandwich, it cost $10 and expected something decent for that price but it was tiny! She twice asked me if I was ordering food and when I said no I got a dirty look!! When we got the bill it was $62 for 4 drinks and a sandwich, absolutely ridiculous!! I had Julian hard cider and it turned out to be $15 a bottle! Budweiser was $9 a bottle and there was a "discount" which made it $6.50 if you were in watching the football game and wearing a Patriots shirt. If you go here I wouldn't run up a tab as you will get a nasty shock when the bill arrives, there are a lot of far nicer friendly bars in town that are a lot cheaper!

Had a few drinks and did some dancing to the live band. It was loud, and busy this night but that was what we wanted.

This is one cool bar in the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego. My husband and I met some friends there and we had a blast watching the drink exchange and playing games (e.g. checkers, connect 4, etc.) at our table. I also received a free mini appetizer of the day, which was cinnamon pretzel bites, by checking in to Foursquare during happy hour; the pretzel bites were yummy! I also ordered their most awesome PB&J sandwich; it is the king of PB&Js: peanut butter, jelly, banana slices and bacon on grilled pretzel bread--AMAZING!! They also serve it with a shot of applesauce and some chips, very good and I highly recommend it! This is definitely a must-see when you go to San Diego!

The main floor is a Sports Bar in the heart of the Gaslamp District (that supports Boston teams). The Tipsy Crow is located in a historic building, has an awesome looking bar, friendly staff, and a good selection of beer and other spirits (the prices fluxgate depend on what is being offered - a stock exchange of sorts). It is a great place to go for a drink before dinner.

We stopped in here for one drink as we had a one drink per bar rule the one night we had in the gas lamp district. This place had plenty of TVs to watch the playoff game that was on, which was great. They have a fun almost wall street type of system where beers change price as if they are commodity that changes like a stock.....sucks when you buy high, but feels better when you buy low.....fun addition to a fun bar. Oh, and the nude woman photo hunt was a nice touch, especially because a group of 6 young women were playing it....lol.

The Tipsy crow is my favorite bar in SD. I always have the best time here. I love all the games, and the drinks are the best. I'm a craft beer dude, and they have a bunch, but I only order one thing at this bar. Their specialty is the salty dog and they are, seriously, the best ever! With three different levels there is something for everyone here. Great staff and this bar seems to attract more fun type people.

We didn't eat here, but the beers were great, the service was fast, games were everywhere, and the music was enjoyable. We had a great time.

We did not eat at the Tipsy Crow - but we sure did drink! The fun name pulled us into this place but the dreadlocked bartender kept us coming back. He was a GREAT bartender - quick, funny, smart and we also both had ties to PA. He made this place super enjoyable! THANKS!

I found this semi-dive bar (compliment, trust me) while walking aimlessly through the Gaslamp District. So glad I did! The drinks are priced according to demand, kind of like the stock market. Very cool concept. The prices were reasonable and there was a great selection. But the game changer was the $5 New England Style Lobster Roll with a Clam Chowder shooter and a bag of Cape Cod Potato Chips. What a freaking deal! Was it the best lobster roll I've ever had, no. But the size and quantity of the lobster in the roll was a shock! Overflowing! Seriously, it is the best deal in town. I will definitely return next time I am in San Diego!

Visited on a Friday night while waiting for pub crawl. Nice lounge with friendly waitstaff upstairs.

Stopped in for a snack and a few beers while in the Gaslamp area. Thought the "stock market" happy hour drink prices board was very unique! Bartender was very good and pretzels were yummy!

This place has a lot going for it. Live music on a Wednesday night. shuffleboard, video games upstairs. I struggled to give between an average and a very good. It just didnt have anything to throw it up to that next level.

Went here because it was pouring rain - and picked it just because it was pouring rain Great upstairs, good food, good beers. I had the cuban sandwich - highly recommend Whats not to like! I would defintiely come back here.

Great staff and they have 3 different levels with varying bar environments. The classic style lawyer bar upstairs was a really great space.

Just for drinks, good time by all, nice staff, full, but not crazy crowded. The bartender Kayla was cool, polite, all that good stuff.

Stopped in for drink and bar bites... it's a cross between an English pub, run-down 80s bar with video games and screens (updated to LCD) and slightly over-priced drinks. It's fine, but I'd fine somewhere a little more fun next time.

I was in San Diego for vacation. I stopped in this bar to watch the baseball game. Both bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. I sat at the bar. I didn't order food, but I saw other customers that did, and it looked very good. I will definitely stop here again when I'm in town.

Stopped here for a beer on our bar hopping. Place is nice and friendly. Lets you taste multiple beers if you cant decide - like me.

The bar tender was the only one here so we sat anywhere and you had to order from her... the salty dog was okay no way I would order again... the French dip I would order again it was good.. the place looked dirty but it was clean

Three Level Bar with some steep steps. Charged a $5.00 per person fee just to get in and expensive drinks. $70.00 for two tequila shots and did not even mention it until we got the bill. Security everywhere and bottom level has a very small dance floor in what looks like a basement. Save your money and try somewhere else.

This probably a cool place but my experience wasn't that great. We arrived for some drinks early on a Sunday evening. They were not super busy but they did have enough people inside where having only one bartender was not enough. We had to wait an extremely long time to place our drink order from the bar. The bartender was not apologetic about the wait and that disappoints me. I understand having to wait but when you finally get to me you should at least act like you care. After the long wait we received our drinks and although my mixed drink was tasty it was way to filled with ice to be worth the cost of the drink. After the one drink we decided to move on to a different place to drink. So many good places downtown I probably won't be back here.

We were recommended to visit this bar whilst we were in San Diego and we are glad we visited. The bar was fairly busy for mid afternoon, and had a musician playing in the corner of the bar. Service was swift and efficient, friendly enough, but not too friendly! Overall, a great bar and one we will return to next time we are in San Diego.

My husband and I were checking out places in the Gas Lamp when we came across the Tipsy Crow and its fun and different happy hour (similar to a stock exchange). We also played shuffle board and really enjoyed our beers (I had a brown ale and my husband had a Bavarian style). Our waitress was very friendly and very attentive. We tried to go back the next night but it was super busy and no where to sit so we moved on, but we would definitely go back again next time we find ourselves in Southern Cali. Sorry we can't comment on the food but the atmosphere is great!

Great atmosphere, 3 levels- dancing, main bar and lounge. Live music, great beer selection. Chocolate cake shot was amazing!!

On a Tuesday afternoon in February my wife and I checked out several pubs on 5th ave. The Tipsy Crow was by far the most entertaining. We really enjoyed their "stock market" display of different drink and beer prices. I found a couple of beers that I like. For an appetizer we ordered the grilled cheese it was delicious. The venue is small and cozy. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone who has a couple of hours to kill in the gaslamp quarter and enjoys a good pub!

Whatever mood you're in and whatever time you're in it, the Tipsy Crow is the place to be in the gaslamp! Street level is my favorite for watching a football game or hanging out with friends...last time we were there we played a hilarious game of Cards Against Humanity. Went to an event in the Nest last year that was amazing...great food, and super comfortable. The Underground is a fun place for dancing, and the doormen are professional, but friendly. Overall, great service, fun ambiance, and a must-visit in the gaslamp :-)

We stopped in for a drink and stayed for two. They have a good Old Fashioned cocktail and a rotating tap of craft beer. People were friendly and service was great. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Enjoyed a few drinks in the afternoon one weekend here. The bar is pleasant, clean with good service, great selection of drinks and good 80-90's music when were were there. Dancing downstairs. We went there to find hard cider. They had 3-4 to choose from.

Housed in an awesome historic building, right on the corner, both the food and staff were first class! What makes this so unique is Happy Hour! First it is reversed in time...from 5pm til closing. Then, it works just like the stock market. They have two large screens, and it is updated every 10 minutes or so, with the latest offerings, which prices change depending on sales...if you buy low, you win or it could go lower, when you buy high! My husband had fun trying to determine the best beer to buy at the right time. Worth a stop for sure!

Typical Gaslamp bar which serves drinks, beers, and shots. Difference is that they also run an 'Exchange' which changes prices of drinks in the bar. They can go up or down in price, similar to a stock exchange. A little different, but a cool way to change things up.

Stopped by for a while for dancing, cerebrating my birthday….well, I am 51 and obviously, I was away too old in there.

favorite bar in San diego... definitely classy.

We stopped by this establishment after dining at another restaurant in the gaslamp district. We were lured in by the live music on the lower level. The bar wasn't too crowded and we were able to get a booth towards the back for our group of 7. While service was a bit on the slow side it was somewhat expected. We did not have any food. The prices were okay. The bar encourages lingering as evidenced by the games available on the table and in an area toward the back. Everyone enjoyed hanging out for a bit and it was close to our hotel.

This is like one of those small historic looking bars with amazing beer selection that will surprise you. The clam chowder is the best around and a fun little place for a late night outing with friends and drinks and bites of good food. Cool place and very well run.

Fun place to drink.

Food options flat breads, salads, soup, sandwiches. Upstairs is a large TV with couches, pool table, and games old classic decor.

We really enjoyed this bar however it is expensive. The servers were very friendly and drinks were strong. We will return.

We stopped by on a Friday night for after dinner drinks. The different levels are a lot of fun, depending on how crazy you want to get that night. The staff were friendly, the dance floor was packed and it seemed like everyone was having a good time. It was very loud on all levels, though, so not a good spot for catching up with old friends.

Spent a few hours there last night and had a blast. The upstairs is really cool with various games you can play as well as a sweet Pool table at the back. The drinks are slightly overpriced but expected for the Gaslamp District. They also have a very unique concept where the price of any given drink will go up or down pending how many people are buying it. Kinda like the stock market. The bartenders and staff were all very nice, polite, and very friendly. This is by far one of my favorite places in San Diego.

I have been to the Tipsy Crow several times since moving to San Diego in Jan. 2014. I am impressed every time. From their live music on the weekends, to the random guy with a shake weight standing outside the door, to their FRESH SQUEEZED JUICE cocktails, I am definitely a fan. I love that they have three levels to the establishment that you can get a different vibe on each.

Used to love this place. Still a decent bar but on the weekends u would never know that they have a kitchen. Their are illegal elote and hot dog carts rite in front of the door and not the cool ones. The ones that have meat just sitting out and u will never see them wash their hands. Tipsy crow management must allow those guys to operate cause they stand rite in front of the door. HUGE disappoinment or the kitchen must be doing real bad. I'll pass for now and will not recommend

Favorite club in San Diego. Got in a lot of trouble here.

We were walking past this corner bar in the Gaslamp District on the way to a San Diego Padres game. We saw their sign for the lobster roll special (I think it was $5 with chips) and decided to go in for a quick drink and try the lobster roll. I had never had a lobster roll, and the tv show The Affair had made me want to try one. It was actually buttery and delicious. I also tried a specialty cocktail, which sounded better than it was, but it was okay. My husband had a beer and shared the lobster roll. Service was quick and we were out and on our way to the game pretty quickly. I wish we had these lobster rolls closer to where I live!

We stopped by to have an early dinner. They were not too busy, bit it still was early in the evening. The happy hour 1/2 priced sandwiches were delicious. The waitress was energetic and knowledgeable.

We were in San Diego for a night, looking for fun place to have a drink, and we end up in the Tipsy Crow. We just wanted a couple of beers but we were having such a good night with their Bingo and their games that we stayed there all night. We will definitely come back next time we are in town

Stopped by here when walking around the Gaslamp district late afternoon on a Saturday. It was a sunshine-y day outside, but the bar was really dark inside. There was a great duo playing live music, and it was happy hour so there were some food and drink specials, which made my check really inexpensive. They had games at the booth (mine had Connect 4) and the whole "Drink Exchange" concept seemed fun. I'm sure this place really gets crazy on weeknights! But for a quick visit, it was just fine.

The security were very welcoming and inviting upon entry which really set the tone for our visit. We were shown an available table where we were given amazing service. I had the best most refreshing Cucumber Smash drink, and my wife had an amazing Blueberry drink. The live music was wonderful. Great experience!

We went to see Ryan Sickler *****FTCF. They have a nice room down stairs where they put on the show. venue was good, beer was cold and they show was great.

The upstairs looks really fun and would be great to rent out for a private party. The basement is really divey... but if you're drinking and looking for a fun place to dance, this is it! Great service and good beer in the center of gaslamp, When you are out with a group of friends this place is always a great time!

The outside look of this historic late 1800's Gaslamp corner bar drew me in to belly up to the long classic mahogany main bar inside. There was a NY stock exchange type of board hanging up that displayed the fluctuating prices of all the beers. The aim is to buy low and it changes according to the sales. Found a friendly patron on the bar stool next to me to chat with. Had a wonderful Cobb salad for dinner and there was a guitarist playing in the corner. All in all, a very good find for my first night downtown.

On our last day of our week long trip, a group of girls decided to check out the Tipsy Crow - and we are glad we did. We didn't eat much, but what we ate was yummy. I had their PB&J, which has banana and bacon on it too - wow...i need to try making that at home. We ventured to all 3 floors - and had fun all the way around. It's worth checking out...and oh, I registered on their site and since I visited during my birthday month, I was able to use a $20 gift certificate - so win win.

A very cool 3 story bar and club, went around 11 p.m. and had a very nice and cool bartender whose name I cannot remember. Only thing I didn't care for was the cover charge, which was 5 bucks a head, but other then that had a great time.

I had a left a parcel there with a gift for my wife and had flown out the next morning - they shipped the bag to Canada to my house. This is unbelievable service. What a great staff!

This place has a cool premise: the prices of your drinks fluctuate based on who's drinking what. There are ever changing screens throughout the bar to let you know how everything is doing. It's like the stock market for drinks. Friendly bartenders willing to explain and help. It's fun, we didn't eat but I would go back there for sure.

Our last night in San Diego we decided to go in here.I am so happy we did. Don't judge a book by its cover the inside of this place reminded me of a movie. Very nicely decorated. We went on a Monday which I think is game night. Bingo and a few others games were played that night with door prizes. The music was really good to a variety of music for all generes. OMG the bathroom reminded me of a 5 Star hotel lobby bathroom. I would love to rent this entire place out for an event if I lived in San Diego.

We popped in here for a drink before our evening meal and really enjoyed it. There isn't much seating in the main bar area but we went upstairs where there was more, and another bar. Great selection of drinks at good prices. There was also a pool table and big connect 4 game for fun. We ended up staying for more than 1 drink as we really liked the place.

This place has 3 floors, each are a unique experience. We liked the main level the best. It was your standard Irish pub like bar. Good, strong drinks, friendly staff. Overall good time. The $5 cover charge on weekend nights is too high, it is just a bar, not a club. And the cover charge does not get discounted drinks. Friendlier staff than most places on 5th ave in SD.

The Crow was our first stop after dinner with our group, all of whom are 40 something, and actually like it. the place is old and beer soaked, so it smells like it is, but this is what makes it authentic, and in truth, we loved it. Once the group called it quits my wife and I went downstairs and got into the hip hop groove. the ceiling is low and the room is small, but it was fun, and we hung out there for a good hour or so before we were ready for a change of venue. I will come back to the Crow, and I think you should too.

The bar was busy and had a several great micro brews on tap. Try the Black Market Rye IPA if they have it. Enjoy

We had drinks and some appetizers here before we went for dinner. The beer selection selection is huge. Lots to choose from. The appetizers were just very average. Have drink and eat elsewhere

We have stopped at The Tipsy Crow in the afternoon the last couple times we have been in San Diego and find it a nice place for a few drinks. The staff is very friendly. We didn't eat, so I cant recommend the food. Good place in the Gaslamp area.

This is a great place for a nice chat. They have 3 levels, under ground club, casual bar and a quiet and old fashion upstairs bar. Everything in one. This is my 3rd visit. I will keep coming.

walked by and loved the name so my friend and I went in to check it out. Really tasty drinks and awesome food. Best part was not realizing they had live music. Half way through our food a band started playing and were amazing!!! Awesome atmosphere, would definitely go back next time I'm in San diego

My husband and I were told to check out this bar because of their stock exchange menu. We did find the menu to be very entertaining. The prices of the drinks fluctuate with what is being purchased in the bar. This bar is 3 stories with a ton of character. My husband and I personally enjoyed the 3rd story with all the games. We were entertained by the two person arcade game. Our drinks were not the best that we had in San Diego, but we would recommend this spot for the atmosphere!

Came here with a group of friends and headed upstairs to the lounge. The main level has a dive bar vibe and underground is a night club. It’s an old building with lots of charm. The red carpart going up stars for sure need a make over. Upstairs was a narrow hallway with leather seats, fireplace, pole table. Has a dance floor with a deejay. Great street view of down town. I ordered the cucumber smash which was refreshing with gin and cucumber. Almost like gin and tonic. I love tequila so I got the pacific Paloma. It was probably bottom shelf because I did not enjoy this drink. Drinks are average but nice vibe. Parking in downtown is a challenge. You’ll have to parallel or pay at the meters. My friend found free parking along Seventh and F Ave. Whereas I parked at Park it on Market for $1 an hour every hour up to 6pm. After that it’s either $15 flat rate or $5 flat rate depending on the day of the week.

This is a great stop in the Gaslamp district. Every time I go to San Diego, I make at point to swing in and have their Black Martini (a mix of vodka, Kahlua, and a shot of espresso with a float of cream)…yummy. If that's not your taste they have plenty of other delicious specialty martinis, a full bar and draft beer. Their drinks are pricey so I highly recommend their happy hour (Sunday -Thurs 5-7 and Fri 3-7) when their drinks are half price. The bar has a pool table and multiple levels that open up on busy nights. They also have live bands or DJs on some nights.

We picked the bar because of the name! I'm from Adelaide and The Crows are our team! We walked in at about 7.30pm on a Wednesday night and it was not overly busy. Pretty much as soon as we arrived a waitress came over and asked if we'd like to order. She said that the pricing policy was like the stock market - that's right our drink prices weren't fixed and could move up or down based on demand. Seemed like fun. We watched the screen to see how prices moved and then ordered a couple of G&Ts. The bar has live music. Lots of covers of well known songs and a few originals. When we got the bill the drinks prices were different (not by a lot) for each round. It did seem a little odd. Nice bar. Not expensive. Good atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend it!

Very very poorly managed. I arrived with a group of five friends after a birthday dinner. I looked at my watch and it was 1:22. I asked one of the security team at the door if we had enough time for one drink at the bar because I was sure last call was at 1:30. He was very friendly and said something like: oh sure you've still got 10 min to order. I spent 45$ on our 5 drinks after a 5 or 6 min wait trying to get service at the bar and before they even arrive the bouncers are saying we have 3 min to get out of the bar. I ran right back to the bar and pled my case to the same bartender. She assured me that they were just trying to get people moving. The long story-short is that they yanked my drink and 2 others drinks out of our hands at around 1:45. I told them I hadn't had anything to drink before that bar and that I wasn't trying to be difficult, but that I felt really taken advantage of. My group of friends all had the impression that they were getting close to physical violence with me. They started saying that San Diego has a zero tolerance law and trying to intimidate me by grabbing my arms. The bartender who told me not to worry would not come back over to plead my case to them. When we got outside I immediately ran into 2 other couples with very, very similar stories. This may be the worst treatment I've ever had in a bar in my life. Every complaint i made was prefaced with "i am sober and really not trying to be difficult but..." I wish I could do something other than review to help people avoid this awful environment. I have never had any bar workers touch me or grab my beer before in my life. The sign on the door and the staff immediately next to it and behind the bar led me to believe I could pay for and enjoy one beer last night

Overall this place was pretty cool. It had a basement nightclub and two stories with beer, drinks, and laughter. The basement was turned into a nightclub and that was fun had to breathe as everyone was dancing and heavily taking up oxygen. The first floor of the place was a pub layout and felt refreshing as the cool breeze was flowing through the bar. Upstairs was another bar and a lounge area with pool tables I believe. Recognized a lot of people from school there. Had a fun evening with my Girlfriend. Would do it again had fun there.

Stopped here on a Friday night for a few drinks with my wife. The location of course if great. They have a large drink menu and good food to go with. It has 2 floors I think. The street floor is a typical bar. Second floor is more relaxed style with large areas and couches and chairs spread about. Im pretty sure there is a basement but I didn't go in. Good spot to talk and hang out with friends. On a Friday night it did get busy with young people after about 10 PM as expected. Everyone was nice and polite and we enjoyed our time there.

I stopped in here after walking past and hearing live music. Ended up staying for a few drinks and going bar later in the evening. Good atmosphere in general.

We stopped by on a Saturday night around 10 pm and it wasn't quite crowded yet. There was no cover at that time, but it looked like they were charging shortly afterwards. The 3 floors to this place is pretty cool. The upstairs is the most chill and we hung out there most of the time. The main floor is their main bar area and downstairs is their club. This was one of our first stops for the night so we never saw what it's like when it's really live, but wouldn't mind coming back again to see what it's really like.

Four of us met here to catch up with each other and exchange Christmas gifts. We really enjoyed the super casual atmosphere and laid back staff. The venue is a historical building and the decor is funky pub. The food was good pub food and I had an excellent spinach salad! Good selection of craft beers. We spent over three hours just chillin', talking, drinking, and eating. Very comfortable here.

Drinks anyone ? Yes I feel it would inappropriate of me not to have a few beers whilst in the Gaslamp. We picked a few of the house specials off the Blackboard. Right old mishmash of beers but one had to entertain the natives and suchlike. Connect four is big down here. Bit weird.

I was there with a group of 20 people from abroad the bouncers and manager was very rude saying that we could leave. The place was dead. Nobody there. Awful.

Attempted to enter this venue on Saturday night. Denied access for having no ID (i am over 40!). After asking why and what ID was required, I was met with the repeated comment of 'you don't have ID? you need ID sir', so it was pretty gauling to watch a group of youngerish aged blonde females skip past the same silly little bearded doorman without a glimpse of ID, all with the batting of an eyelash. Good to see that sexism and ageism are still alive and well in San Diego. Or at least in this very short man's bearded head. All for the sake of a couple of beers. Saw the tumbleweed blowing past on Sunday...walked past smiling and called into a divebar around the corner; warm welcome, friendly staff...how it should be. Poor show for visitors to the city.

Fine selection of cocktails, acclaimed best salty dog in town. Friendly eclectic atmosphere Get there early if you want a seat.

they beg you at the door to come in and then charge way too high for a few beers. Service was not great. Gotta do better than that to compete when there are so many good places in the quarter

Stopped on a Friday evening during happy hour with my husband who was looking for calm chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. All the restaurants were having happy hour most with $4 wines and beers. This place has a stock exchange where prices on drinks and beers fluctuated depending on what is being bought at the bar. Unfortunately no wines were being offered, so if I wanted a glass it would be full price with the the lowest glass being $8. I chose to not order, as it seemed just ridiculous to pay full price when every other restaurants were offering $4 glasses. Would recommend The Tipsy Crow re-think their decision not to include wines on their stock exchange.

We frequented this place while staying in the Gaslamp District. Their signature cocktail the Salty Dog has a fresh squeezed grapefruit, and the orange crush is delicious. The waitresses are super friendly and helpful. Entertain yourself with Jenga and Connect Four at each table, and they usually have live music in the evening. Just a great neighborhood bar. The motto "Stay Tipsy San Diego!" ensures a good time.

grabbed a drink late in the evening on Friday night, and the couple next to us, was obviously well into their evening. The bouncers were on top of it and handled them accordingly. It was nice to see an appropriate response to crazy drunks that did not end in an altercation.

Really enjoyed having a few drinks in this bar. Great variety of local beers to use from. Staff friendly and open to questions and making recommendations. Tasty margaritas too. Great atmosphere-Could have stayed all evening!

Good cold beer and pretzel. Nothing tui brah about. Interesting stock exchange theme for specials. Just missed the live music.

first level beer and talk with the bartender. upstairs at night was so cool with Nicole and fresh Cadillac margaritas. met lots of nice people and a very comfortable atmosphere. downstairs is the dance area ...dark and fun. great night out. close to hotel.night life was great.

This place is a must stop when visiting the gas lamp district in San Diego. They claim to have invented the salty dog drink...in any event they have perfected it!! The fresh squeezed grapefruit juice is the best!!

Good beer selection and an old bar feel that makes you want to throw back a few. Nothing fancy here, just some good tunes and people looking to get their night (or day) headed in a fun direction. Good bartender and if you're looking to hide for an hour, this place will be for you...

We went to this bar on Saturday night and after paying cover of $5 each, we went to the downstairs bar to order drinks. The bartender informed us that the round was $27 so I put $30 on the bar to pay. Another member of our party got her attention first and handed her a $100 bill..so I took my money off the bar. She batted her eyes and asked if he wanted change---of course he said yes. We are good tippers, but $75--uh no. She walked away like she was going to get his change and then never got it. I called her over and asked for the change and she said he had paid exactly "$26" and never gave her $100 bill. (Notice how even the cost for the round of drinks changed) She even half a** attempted to show me her stack of $20 bills in the cash register. After numerous attempts to collect our change, she poured a "free" round of shots (guilty conscience?) and then we were ESCORTED out. This bartender stole $75 and there was nothing we could do to prove it and get our change. I would NEVER go back in here. I'm sure we aren't the only people that this has happened to---or maybe we were just the only ones sober enough to notice. Skip this bar and keep your $$!!!

We stumbled upon this place as we were walking around the gaslamp district. The wait staff were really awesome. My husband was so excited because they have cheese! Different types of cheese that you could order and they were paired with different types of crackers. I believe there were 6 different cheeses and we tried them all and the chef actually came to our table (he probably just had to see who was ordering all this cheese) he he! He was really nice and even told us where they get their cheese from if we wanted to purchase some to take home. They also have a wide selection of different types of beer and we tried a few of those as well. We'll definately go back again when we come into town. Great atmosphere too: it's pretty cool cause they have board games that you can use and while walking to the restroom I saw people playing a game in their booth, now that's a first! What we really liked is they have a bar that faces the street (5th) and it was a great place to people watch as we ate our cheese and drank our beer! Oh I almost forgot the best part: HAPPY HOUR ALL DAY SUNDAY! So Cool :)

We visited the Tipsy Crow twice while in the area. Both were during Happy Hour. There was live entertainment and was an all around fun little place to have a few cocktails.

We were walking around on Christmas Eve and I noticed their sign on the outside that stated they were famous for their Salty Dogs. I'm a big fan so we had to stop. So glad we did. The place was VERY quiet but we still had a great time. The salty dog was indeed yummy and being Christmas Eve and all, I had to also try the Santa's Surf Rider. Baker, our bartender was great, very friendly and made awesome drinks. We will definitely be back to try more of the food options...love all the cheese on the menu. We

We attended a Comedy show here in the downstairs area. This place has levels and appeals to all kinds. Drinks were great and reasonably priced for the gas lamp area. This would be a great place for a larger group to gather.

The upstairs lounge is much more relaxed and enjoyable than the loud bar downstairs. You could carry a conversation without yelling across to each other, and there was a pool table and a much-coveted Connect Four game. Good atmosphere.

We accidentally ran into this bar, and we ended it up having a full weekend of fun in san Diego. We had a wonderful time. i found the live music loud and was about to tip the girl twenty to stop but then she took her break. My girlfriend enjoyed the music but then again she has poor. She is dating me after all.

Cozy bar. Loud and very warm upstairs. Drinks were reasonably priced, but service was a tad slow. Lucky to grab a table in the corner. Limited seating.

If you're a lover of New England cuisine and a Pats/Sox fan, you HAVE to visit this place! The food selections are delicious, the bar staff is friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming and the fan camaraderie is THE BEST. Terrific Gaslamp locale as well. Nothing beats turning the corner and seeing that Red Sox flag waving at game time! Bottom line: get the clam chowder - it's flown in fresh from The Cape and it's AMAZING!

I was in town for 2 nights, and ended up going to this bar 3 times. It had a relaxed vibe, very friendly staff, and the stock market prices for beer was such a cool idea. Also ended up playing Jenga one night, so they have games too!

This bar hit the spot after several raucous bars (too many birthdays at other bars getting out of hand). This one had good drinks, decent prices, and live music. Much more approachable and enjoyable.

Stopped in tonight for happy HR at approx 6pm. Was only a few people sitting at the bar. Was seated promptly and order taken. Has a great happy HR. Apparently all night tonight Has selected apps and sandwiches 1/2 $ off. Had the bruschetta (GD for 1) very light but flavorful. Then we each ordered the cheese blt. GD enough that my cheese sandwich eating grandson would rave about. Kinda pannini like pressed with cheese bacon, lettuce and tomato with a side of tomato soup dipping sauce.

Nice if it's near. But wouldn't go out of my way to find it. Too shiny if you ask me. But I prefer me some dive bars.

We went in for appetizers and drinks on a Monday night and were not disappointed in anything. Evidently it is a hangout for New England patriot fans who happened to be playing. This made it even more fun even though we weren’t rooting for either team. The server was prompt and attentive and helpful when it came to choosing our food and drinks.

Best margarita I tasted in San Diego, that bar tender can mix a sweet cocktail. Spent a couple of hours shooting pool with locals and having some good laughs. Not very busy on a Sunday evening.

A buddy recommended The Tipsy Crow so gave it a try on Sunday... Hit it just as Happy Hour started. Had a couple Sam Adam's Rebel IPA and the Mixed grilled cheese board....WOW... good eats and beer and at a very good price...

Stopped in for 1 drink but liked it so much we had 2 more and an app. Great vibe and our server Lauren was super cool. She definitely made it more enjoyable because she was fun, courteous and provided stellar service. And the beer she recommended (Old Chub Scotch Ale) was amazing! The bruschetta app was fine, but didn't blow our mind. Music was decent as well. All in all it was a great bar to hang out for a while.

We stopped in for happy hour and found a huge beer selection and a really cool atmosphere. It's a small place with a dance hall upstairs but we beat the rush. There are two big screens and the beer and liquor trades on the screen like the stock market. If demand is high so is the price and if demand is low the price lowers. This was pretty unique and added fun to our ordering. Our service was really good. Overall it was a pretty fun experience and was one of the larger beer selections we encountered in San diego.

We stopped in late in the afternoon. We had an appetizer which was pretty good. The bartender did not know the menu nor did she know the alcohol stock. I tried order a beer off the menu only to be told they no longer had the beer. When I agreed to run a tab I was asked for not only my credit card to hold but they also want to hold my driver license. When I refused the license they said I would have to pay cash or close out the tab. The excuse was supposedly that they ask for the license so that if someone later says they did not charge their credit card they can say they had the driver license. This is suspect because they do not copy the license. We were also told this is common all over the Gaslamp District and also California. We went to another bar around the corner and did not have the same issue. Also we stayed in Calif. for two weeks and never had this issue anywhere else. I would be very concerned about a bar/restaurant engaging in identity theft by giving over my license together with my credit card. This place also has some screwball method of pricing its liquor like a stock exchange so if more people are buying the price either goes up or down on the same liquor! Something not right with this place.

Huge beer selection and great food choices too, The waitstaff was very helpful and cheerful. We were here four years ago and it is still a great place for pub food.

Stopped in for a quick bite and a drink. The bar had a nice selection of drinks and food. The bartender was friendly and helpful. The drinks were excellent, the food was tasty, but nothing special.

The Patriots' flag was hanging outside this establishment as we walked by. They dub themselves as a "New England" bar...a slice of home so far away....yay! They are always open when the Pats play, so if you need a place to find a place to watch a Pats game, head to this place in the Gaslamp District. Lobster rolls and clam chowder are on the menu...another slice of home! Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, live entertainment.

We went to this place on the recommendation of a waitress at another restaurant. We wanted a place to hang out and have some drinks. This place was perfect for that. We got there a little earlier 7ish on a thursday-there was no cover. We hung out in the main bar area for a while until the upstairs opened at 9. The upstairs area has several couches and lounge areas to hang out and a 1 pool table. There is also a bar upstairs and they have drinks specials all night. The crowd is diverse in age and ethnicity which we liked a lot. We heard there was dancing downstairs but we didn't go there.

I stopped for a beer and some food. Very nice atmosphere and service. Clean environment, good selection of beers. I would recommend for a drink but not food, at least not flat bread, it was soggy and tasteless.

In town for a Red Sox game. This place is known for greeting New Englanders & watching the games. It was busy on Saturday evening but stopped again after the game on Sunday & it was just right. Both days we had the Lobster Roll & Sam Adams special for $12 - such a deal & delicious! Thanks to Kiara for taking good care of us!

Went with a colleague and we both enjoyed this place, for the food, drink, and general people watching. Good music playing throughout the evening, including live sets. Drinks were reasonably priced and can vouch for clam chowder, buffalo chicken flatbread, and lobster roll. Will definitely try to get back here.

Great location for our hotel (Andaz), we played games all night. Family Feud was a lot of fun. Great bar with good activities, that way you are not just sitting there.

They had a nice cozy place with booths for groups. The drink list was extensive and they had an interesting "drink exchange" that encourages you to try different things as the prices rise and fall based on demand. Great place to start the night!

Went to The Tipsy Crow for a drink as a couple. Not really a place I'd visit again. We went in a for a quick drink after a day of sightseeing, very early in the evening. Found the overbearing door men on power trips a bit irritating and my husband was informed under no circumstances was he to go into his rucksack whilst inside the venue. We should really have left at that point as I don't like being made to feel that "I'm lucky to be allowed into the bar" when it was empty. Probably a cool place to go with friends on a night out and the drinks prices "stock exchange" idea was quirky and fun. Our server was friendly when we made it into the bar and the wine was good.

I visited san diego with my 70 year old mother over Christmas. I heard about this place from one of our Uber drivers. My mother was feeling feisty, but I also wanted to take her somewhere she didn't feel comfortable. It was 930 on a Friday night. The place was packed. We were an odd duo, but didn't feel awkward. In the front was the typical bar scene with 20-somethings and live music. We grabbed a booth and ordered something to snack on. Our waitress was so endearing and helpful. The pretzel was great! We went in to sample west coast breweries that we don't get east of the Mississippi river. We did! We did a couple of flights and grabbed a few interesting bottles. The waitress was very knowledgeable and patient. They had a large variety at all different price ranges. The waitress also brought a few cocktails to us after getting to know our preferences. For being the time it was, I expected our table to be the last priority, but it wasn't. The atmosphere was so lively! It was the perfect blend between night life and comfort. Dress up, dress down..you choose. The decor is playful. I had to convince my mother to call it a night eventually BC she wanted to stay so long. I went back a few nights later w/my best friend in a more "Friday night girls outing" sort of way. Had a completely different experience... But not any less enjoyable or lacking quality.

Good location in San Diego Gaslamp area, away from the main busyness of the very touristy area there. Nice wine selection, even though small. We did have a very good Spanish Temperanillo. Small bites/appetizers were plentiful on the menu. We had the Tony Soprano--meatballs a bit overdone, but still flavorful. We were there on a Thursday, enjoying Happy Hour before attending our play at the Lyceum Theater. A nice two person combo was playing. There is a small cluster of tables towards the back of the establishment that looked inviting. Good service as well. Will visit again when in the area

Nice downtown bar- quirky, hip, good pours and beer selection. What else would you want on a Saturday night?

We stopped in for a quick bite in the late afternoon/early evening. The menu had some interesting twists on pub food - I wanted to try everything - and the beef sliders & flat bread we ordered were delicious. A nice variety in beers was offered with local craft brews, and at the time I visited good ol' Goose Island (hello, Chicago!) was on the board. Loved the atmosphere of this old building. Gorgeous ceiling tiles and you just now the ghosts have some interesting tales. A comfortable pub I wouldn't mind spending more time at.

This bar is in the gaslamp distirct. The bar works like the stock exchange, alcohol prices go up and done depending on the demand. It is fun to watch. There are games on the tables to play. There soft pretzels were great.

We stopped here for a drink to have a sit down and dry off a bit (the weather had been horrendous), and to decide where to eat dinner. I think there were two doormen standing guard on the street which was a bit off-putting at first, but inside the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We ordered our drinks and sat by the windows at the front. They were fully open so we got a buzz from the goings on in the street outside as well. There was a guy doing a live acoustic set which was nice, and the whole place generally has quite a feel good factor.

Just a visit for drinks. They serve specials, which change as people order, but their speciality cocktail is a Salty Dog. Live music at street level and a disco basement.

Date night, our 19th Anniversary. The place is nice, great atmosphere. Two of the lady bartenders were short with us and super snotty. Other then them, it was very nice. Shuffleboard, foosball, pool, pac-man and more.

Stopped in 3 times during our 3 day stay in San Diego. Located right on the corner, it's a cool little bar with great drinks and food, friendly wait staff as well.

Their "bouncer" had an attitude. The beer selection was poor. The bartender wasn't friendly. Why would I go back?

I don't do a big lot of drinking on 5th avenue but i do like this place, always something on, and i like the "stock exchange" with the drink prices! The staff are always nice and polite, a nice place for a drink!

This is a great place to grab a cocktail, listen to music and enjoy yourself! There's always a lively crowd, and they have plenty of drink specials! Get a Salty Dog!

We enjoyed a range of cocktails & beers here! Vanessa was absolutely amazing! & great fun! We highly recommend a visit, if you are in San Diego

Experienced a great time from Rico. First time here at the Tispy Crow and the staff from the bartenders to security were absolutely amazing. Rico was the first person my sister and I met and he was definitely great company and very professional. Being there for the first time he took the time to give us a tour and the highlights of Tipsy Crow. Probably the best service I have ever received. The place it self is a very antique historic building. Very secretive and dark but in the elegant way. Great atmosphere. I did not try the food but hopefully next time I will get to try something on the menu. Thank you very much again!

Sophisticated atmosphere, not loud and noisy. Dance floor downstairs. We hung out on the upper floor and it took about 5 mins of me standing at the bar before I was acknowledged...and they weren't that busy

We love this place and wish it was in our hometown. The staff is fun and great at making recommendations for whatever you're looking for: food or drink. Whenever we've stopped in there's been live, original music. The artists are fantastic. I know there's a great later night crowd and events but we didn't quite make it that late. It's a great place to stop when in San Diego. Don't miss it!

This place can be multiple things for you depending on the time and day. Weekdays late afternoon/early evening. it is great to go grab some food and drink with friends. They have live music, tables games (Connect 4, Jenga etc.) and the food is pretty good! My go to so far are their grilled cheese options. Yum! This place is also a good bar, drinks are decent and the location of the place is great. Solid stop for bar hopping throughout the night. They also have a basement dance floor area that we have gone to over the years on the weekends. The music is also good, although it can get hot! All around, solid choice to hit when downtown SD.

Nice beer choices, bar itself felt a bit grubby, bar staff friendly enough I suppose but not bubbly like other bars

My wife and I stopped here for happy hour for a few drinks and some half-priced appetizers. Their drink menu was huge and impressive. Their appetizers were good and a great deal during happy hour. We had a grilled cheese combo with a tomato basil-dipping container. The grilled cheese was pretty tasty, but a little greasy. The bartenders were good and the crowd was mixed. The Tipsy Crow has what they call a Drink Exchange. How it works is every thirty minutes all drinks on the exchange are set at their low price, and every time someone orders one the price goes up a quarter. The prices are updated every five minutes, so you can get a round and not pay a different price for every drink. It keeps people who want to drink the same thing at a moderate pace, and it's fun to get a "deal" on a drink. The only issue is that prices are just not that low to begin with.

I have been at this bar both during the week and on a Saturday. During the week, the bar floor is open with a good bar atmosphere, good food menu and excellent food quality. Live music, sports on TV, and when there is no live music there are music videos playing on some other TVs in addition to the sports TVs. All-in-all very good bar. On a Saturday, this place is a full blown awesome club with 3 floors. Bars on all 3 floors. The main level is the entrance to the main bar with what I explained above. The upper level is a classy lounge with couches and comfy chairs and games and a pool table. There is a bar upstairs. In the basement, there is a thumping dance floor with another bar and all the disco equipment and lighting. Pick a floor or hover between the three. Very friendly and professional staff. A truly enjoyable experience.

In general, just a great bar to stop in and have a few drinks, no matter what you're plans are for the night. You might start with a few drinks upstairs, and end up shaking it downstairs four hours later. On Sunday, Best bar to watch a Patriots game, hands down. They have lobster rolls, and free chowder. Fahkin' great. Wear your Patriots gear and get a discount.

We had heard so much about Tipsy Crow and it did live upto its hype. Decent cocktails and fun ambiance. I ordered the buffalo chicken flat bread with my drink and it was really good. Overall, if you are in San Diego and have time to head out to Gaslamp Quarter, you must go to this place.

So my spouse n i arrived after no service at coyote ugly down the street Monday Feb 12/15. Greeted by an extremely friendly and knowledgeable server..Tuliyani. .helped navigate the menu.. explain the alcohol board..N offer great suggestion. Happy hr offers select items at 1/2 price. Monday I'd trivia night aft 8.. didn't stay but sounded interesting. Had the brushetta n BUT sand with 3 cheeses... all very flavourful n fresh. Spoke to the GM so to compliment the staff n her level if great service. Gd job

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Kelly for being the best bartender ever. You literally slayed girl! This bar is definitely a must for anybody visiting the Gaslamp District. It has 3 levels and functions like the stock exchange. It's a really unique place to hangout.

Great place to go with friends to eat, drink and play games...yes they have games: checkers, connect 4, foosball table etc. The service was also very good.
Awesome place for all!
A group of us were on a business trip, all hospitality folks...we had a blast here...enough we went back 3 times during the 4-5 days we were there. It has a little bit for most everyone. The bar on the first floor was cool with some games...Don't remember the last time I played Jenga...and they had it and connect four on the tables! Also the upper level had a relaxed vibe with fireplace and pool table. I think we spent 3 hours at least playing pool 2 of the nights. For those that like dancing, the is the Underground with dance music pounding and a lot of fun. Friday night was a cover, but still good time. Try it out!
