Yummy, creative fare

By Kris132 |

We just happened into this charming little spot on Chestnut Street for lunch last week. The menu is very creative and lots of things sounded good, like the fried chicken sandwich or the Brussels sprouts hash and eggs but we both opted for the hamburger! It was delicious with a generous meat patty, avocado, tomato, caramelized onions and lettuce. It comes with a generous portion of great housmade fries.Sit outside on the patio!

nice place for a drink or a bite

By Una P |

...we went for dinner, the place gets busy what we had was tasty somewhat portions are smaller than other places. nice patio in the back

Great atmosphere and service

By Cath D |

As jet lagged tourists we stumbled across this venue one late afternoon and decided to drop in. Clearly a favourite with the locals and we can understand why. The vibe is both relaxed and fun. We loved the menu and found the meal sizes perfect, the drink list was also more than adequate. Shame we are not locals as we would definitely be back to this cool establishment.

Basic pub with nice patio

By food_reviewer45 |

After a long day of travel, we went around the corner from our hotel to this pub to relax with cold ones and have a snack. My wife had a Strawberry Fields cocktail $12, fresh muddled strawberries, tequila I think, juices and soda. I had an amber draft from SF Brew Co. $7 We shared a Queso Fundido $12 Great service from Will. We sat on the patio out back. Nice. Then back to our hotel to unpack.

Great food

By Carsten J |

Great place. Friendly waiter and good service. We came in and had no reservation but they found a solution. Portions are not large but made with love and you can taste it!

Well our first place no longer open so we put our name on the list here. Ordered drinks and waited for a table. We shared carnitas tacos and chicken tortilla soup, couple of drinks. Then dessert. We chose the donut holes. They were awesome. Will happy to return.

Nice neighborhood spot

By Jim B |

Welcoming and efficient staff. Good happy hour menu. Place fills up but has bar area, open and airy dining area, and back courtyard area. There are a few TV screens in the bar.

Great Tapas, beer and cocktail selection

By Huhner |

Went here with a work party of 6 and had a great dinner!! Options I would recommend: Mac & cheese Brussel sprouts Shrimp poppers Fries Sweet potato fries Sliders All very good and the service was very good as well.

Sunday afternoon game day

By Bruiser |

A good bar and diner in standard SFO fashion - its even got a nice outside section in the rear, Great for Sunday afternoon football

Awesome place to eat & drink!

By jm6ftunder |

This is a great place to eat, have some wine or drinks and relax with family or friends. Definitely arrive so you can take advantage of their Happy Hour specials. Great outdoor seating options available as well. Additionally, the staff and service is pretty good for a restaurant on Chestnut! I would recommend the fish tacos or chicken pot pie! Great mac n cheese and guacamole.

Lunch

By TrvlForFn |

The atmosphere was awesome and the food was great. We highly recommend the mac & cheese and tacos. We want to go back for dinner and drinks. The drinks looked fantastic.

Great atmosphere and pub grub

By s7ewg |

Good food, kobi beef burgers are amazing. Good honest pub grub and good beer. A great vide across the bar also and the marina district is one of the nicest in San Francisco.

Whilst in San Francisco we had dinner at the Tipsy Pig on suggestion from locals. The day we went the restaurant only opened at 5 PM so we made reservations for 5:30 PM for a group of six. When we got there we were surprised at how crowded it was - usually that's a good sign. We ate indoors while we enjoyed the ambiance it did feel a bit crowded. It was also pretty loud and not easy to carry on a conversation between us. The menu was quite varied and had options for vegan and gluten free guests as well. The beer list was also nice with a good selections of many different styles - both on draught and in bottles. Food was excellent and portions right sized. And our waiter Luther was helpful and attentive. Definitely would return.

Yes!

Didn’t eat but the boozed was delivered how it should be, with a smile. I drank a lot and subsequently missed my flight home back to Blighty. Win.

Great atmosphere and lots of great flavours!

By deaksVancouver |

My hubby and I made a late reservation here on a Friday night - glad we did because it filled up pretty quick after 8pm. There's a bar area that is standing room and then lots of tables that I believe extend out back into a courtyard. Lots of choice on the wine list and very interesting cocktails. The menu is mostly for sharing and there are a lot of choices but I just ordered the Fish Tacos and my hubby the Tipsy Burger - both were very tasty and did not disappoint. The prices were great too. For dessert we had the sticky buns which are little pieces of (bacon) heaven - wow! Awesome recommendation from our server. Staff was super friendly and just attentive enough not to be annoying (a very important balance!) Overall a really great experience and we'd definitely go again!

Lively brunch atmosphere. Outdoor dining. Delicious chicken & waffles.

By Katelyn |

Looking for a cute, lively place for weekend brunch with your friends? This is your spot. Sat outside in their beer garden area and had a few cocktails before our food. Was relatively crowded but not rammed. Had chicken & waffles (which were delicious) as well as tater tots and the candied bacon (MAKE SURE you get this!) Food is great - atmosphere excellent. Definitely recommended.

Brunch after party

By Nicoeu |

If you had a good night at the Castro... go to Brunch to this place. It is kind of walking distance to the Golden Gate...

Little beer or three..!

By James H |

Lovely little bar this one, staff are very fast and attentive! Didn’t get as far as eating here but only because we wanted to visit as many places as possible, menu did look good though. Lovely sheltered garden for relaxing if it’s warm! All seats have got a good view of the TVs as well if you don’t fancy that!

Wonderful Brunch!!

By Tracee A |

Comfortable patio, great service and signature cocktails. The black pepper candied bacon is a MUST no matter what you order. I had the chilaquiles with the most perfectly cooked egg I have ever had. A perfect egg is hard to come by....ask any french chef. My husband had the breakfast sandwich with house made tater tots which are to die for. One of the biggest scores in our week long trip up north.

Good times

By WillGray77 |

Found this neighborhood spot online and was happy with our experience.... The atmosphere is great, lively, pretty crowded.. They have half off bottles of wine on Thursday.... We tried the chicken and sliders... both looked good, came out nice and hot, and tasty... Service was good to go.. We would go back

You won’t be disappointed

By MPerazzo |

We met two other couples on a Saturday night for cocktails. Ask for Brooklyn, she was amazing! We all tried different cocktails and enjoyed them all. Charles was also very knowledgeable. We all had a good time. We ordered some food from Charred and the guys picked it up just a couple of doors down. It was an Awesome good time! We plan on going back another night when Brooklyn is working!

Yum

By breanamc |

Delicious food and drink in a swanky joint. If it's a nice day, be sure to go and enjoy the back patio.

Glad we stopped by

By travelingfamily009 |

The food was yummy and the atmosphere was fun. I highly recommend a stop here for lunch. It was a great fueling station before our long walk through the Presidio to the Golden Gate bridge.

Happy Hour Appetizers!

By nomisimon |

Stopped in for a late happy hour. Enjoyed some tasty appetizers - fried chicken sliders, popcorn shrimp, and sweet potato fries. Nice ambience and attentive service.

Nice local Castro pub

By alisontoia |

We are staying locally so this restaurant was walking distance from our motel. I had a Margherita which was very good. It was disappointing the happy hour only applied to a full bottle of wine as I would only have a glass - so $12 quite expensive. We shared sweet potatoes fries to start excellent and only $3 on happy hour menu. My friend then had the ribs which she said were delicious. I had the lettuce and beet salad on Happy hour so half price. I would have been annoyed to pay full price as it was pretty ordinary with lots of leaves and a little beet, sprinkling of cheese and not a lot else. I was still hungry so we had deserts - apple pie was excellent but far too big and expensive at $10. My friend had cookie dough slices filled with ice cream - far too sweet and she could not eat it. Staff and service excellent

Great Huevos Rancheros!

By ArizonaTravelPro |

My wife and I had brunch here. It's a fun place, but get there before 1pm. or there will be a long wait on weekends. We had a small table facing the street and it was fun watching the people, and dogs, go by. My wife ordered the Breakfast Sandwich and a Bloody Mary. She said the Bloody Mary was "terrific". The Breakfast Sandwich was good - but nothing spectacular. I had the huevos rancheros and it was truly a signature dish! We live in the southwest and have eaten may forms of huevos rancheros. This one was by far one of the most unique and flavorful. If you do go there, consider this dish and I'm sure you will not be disappointed. The service was great too and we will definitely go back when we're in the area again.

Had higher expectations

By AlexTedje2017 |

I tried this restaurant since had read an article in the financial times "how to spend it" magazine from someone who recommended this place for its food and pub atmosphere. The place was like a pub but nothing special, very loud and packed. The food was nothing exceptional at all, not even the famous burger would I say was good. Have eaten better burgers at my corner bar....Even the beer they did not serve in the right type of glasses and I am sorry but if you want to be a pub, have different beers, you should know how to serve them. therefore I do not really recommend this place.

Would Go Back...Good Food and Fun Atmosphere

By DrDavidE |

Tipsy was a touted pub not far from our hotel...we do not drink alcohol but enjoy pubs and pub food. We were seated quickly and the server was friendly and helpful with the menu. We ordered the "Pretzel Bites" as an appetizer because I love pretzels. What we were served was a bread bite (a gougeres, I believe) stuffed with gruyere cheese. It was pretty good, but I wish they had not called it a pretzel...I would have ordered a different opener. Yes, I know that pretzels come in many forms, but other than color, this bite reminded me of no other pretzel I have been served in the many places and countries I have eaten pretzels. My wife got a burger and I ordered an all-time pub favorite, chicken pot pie. She said the burger was very good and the fries were crunchy. The crust of my pie was perfect and the filling very, very good except for a minor thing (which is my preference and many would feel differently)...the first flavor I got in most bites was kale. I will concede, the menu stated an ingredient as "dino kale" (I think it was "dino"), but I did not expect that flavor to dominate. Still it was very good. Go to the Tipsy Pig...you will enjoy it for dinner and I bet it is a great place to hang with friends and view a game.

Noisy, however great food!

By Brian F |

On the lookout for a small bite, on a Thursday night. The Tipsy Pig looked very attractive, so we went in. Seating was a bit stuffy, and soon we learned that the environment was loud. To be honest, we were offered a more quiet place. We chose to remain. The mains are small and we ordered Fish tacos and the baby back ribs. TASTY. The concept seems to be XL-Tapas. The meat fell of the bone, and Everything else to perfection. Great attentive service all the way. No WiFi.

Delicious salade

By bcipkalova |

Nice place to hangout but very noisy to eat a dinner. Food delicious. Stuff is correct. I ate salade with avocado and it was fantastic.

Excellent burgers!

By Julie P |

Came across this pub just around the corner from our motel in the marina district. Nice place, friendly service and good choice of beers. All 4 of us went for the burgers and they were excellent - cooked well to your chosing, full of flavour and generous portions. The sweet potato fries were great too.

Indoor/Outdoor

By Ron J |

Great place for Sunday Brunch. If the weather cooperates there is a wonderful patio in the back, seating is limited. Good menu with plenty of options, something for everyone. Full bar, try one of the specials, be aware the BloodyMary is very Spicy. They don’t rush you, great for catching up with friends.

Great food on cow hollow

By jimmojo |

This place was awesome. Great bar and beautiful dining area as well as a spacious back patio. Great cocktail list. I recommend the vodka with squeezed grapefruit. Food was great. We had the tacos as well as the tipsy burger which was cooked perfectly. Staff was awesome.

Outstanding small bites in a trendy setting

By TJJapan |

We stopped by for dinner on a busy Saturday evening and were told the wait for a table was 20 minutes so we headed for the patio bar in the way back. Found a table by the fence, complete with a heater for those cold SF nights, which was perfect. And found out that the bar serves the same food as the rest of the place so we settled in for dinner right there! The server was wonderful, and the food was outstanding. We just kept ordering more and more and each dish was brought out within a couple minutes. Everything we had was delicious. The brussel sprouts ($13) and pretzel bites ($11 - more like cheesy biscuits) were gone quickly. Next was fish tacos (3 for $18) and pork sliders (3 for $16) - wonderful. Then the piggy style tater tots ($9) - smothered with a cheese sauce and bacon. Yum. The drinks were wonderful too, we had beers (3 different sizes) and a strawberry fields, which was quite refreshing. This is a place that is hopping on the weekends with millenials, which makes for a rocking good time!

Amazing Happy Hour

By kyle l |

Had a great dinner for two during happy hour where a significant amount of the food menu is discounted. The gnocchi, sliders, and mac and cheese were very good. The Gnocchi was very light in texture and had a great tomato sauce.

Got tipsy and pulled the pig!

By Mark D |

Good selection of beers and wines combined with decent food. We shared the shrimp popcorn which was simple and tasty. My wife went for the chicken pot pie which was traditional and had a good biscuit top. I had the pulled pork sliders and they were great. Would return - thanks for a good evening

Great little brunch place

By WorldWanderer2000 |

Came here for brunch on a Friday morning. The place was cozy and charming and the food excellent. Great brunch place!!

Great spot to quench your thirst !

By Lee P |

Stopped here because I liked the name and took a seat at the bar. The service was really good, nice selection of drinks with fruit and a good selection of spirits. The staff were all really friendly, as were the locals we were seated near. Would definitely drink here more often if I lived here.

Not a foodie destination: Pub or Pig?

By Grace A |

Want to know where all the young and not so young crowd gathers in the Marina? Go to the Tipsy Pig on any foggy afternoon. On a very central area of Chestnut street next to a another popular bar and taco spot. The Bar is packed with a lively young crowd. Service was smooth and efficient. Come for Drinks and Go for the comfort food like mac n' cheese and chicken and mash potatoes. Don't expect a "foodie" destination.

Poor food for the money.

By Debkb1 |

This is a dark pub. The lighting was so bad we had to use our cell phone light to see the menu. Ordered the baby back ribs and an enchilada. The baby back ribs were 6-2" ribs on a small bed of inedible slaw. No sides at all. Decent ribs but meant to feed a toddler not a 200 lb. man. Enchilada was tasteless although there was enough to fill up a middle aged woman. Again no sides. The price was outrageous for the amount and quality of food - $40. There are many restaurants in the area, we just happen to pick the wrong one. Service was fine but I would definitely go elsewhere is you are looking for a good meal.

It's a Happening Place!

By Jeanette R |

We had a great experience! When we got there we had to wait a little because there wasn't seating available and the bar was full. After about ten minutes the manager walked over to us and found us a spot at the bar so we could wait for a table. Soon after we were seated at the table. The waitress was excellent. I asked for her opinion on what was great, and she guided us (although she did mention that everything was excellent). We chose the tuna, the mozzarella with kale and prosciutto , and the Mini burgers in Hawaiian style buns! We shared everything! Amazing!! The beer I had and loved was the Piratta (the pirate) beer! So good I had to have a second. Thumbs up to The Tipsy Pig!!

Excellent Cocktails - Good Vibes

By Travel With Dee |

We were here for a leisure Sunday evenings and could stop ordering their cocktails. They taste so good and are super fresh. Highly recommend the Strawberry Margarita and Cucumber Mule. The place has a nice outdoor area, which is really goood for a brunch or a day drinking scene. It is a bit pricey, but worth it! Must do in San Fransisco.

Great Food - Great Drinks - Relaxing

By MarySchaffer |

Met friends for brunch on a Saturday. Food was excellent. I had Huevos Rancheros and my husband had the Goat Cheese-Chive Scramble. Both were prepared well. My husband noted that the scramble were French Scrambled eggs, which few restaurants do. Our friends both had salads. They said that the salads were excellent and not over-dressed. We had bloody Mary's - which were heavy on horseradish, which we really like. Service was appropriate, attentive but not hovering. The serving sizes were extremely generous. This was our first time and we will definitely return.

Fun restaurant in Marina district

By Peartogo |

My daughter and I had dinner here last week! It was perfect for the 2 of us as we weren't looking for a huge meal. We shared 3 small plates which was plenty. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. The restaurant has a local flavor and is off the beaten path of Fishermans Wharf. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.

BLAND, BLAND, BLAND!

By Philip L |

We ordered a salad and three entrées to share. Everything was incredibly bland. The fish tacos were $24 for 3, and each one had a huge wad of batter and only a tiny piece of fish inside (smaller than a tiny fish stick). All of us agreed: Nothing had flavor. One person called it"negative flavor"! I have no idea why this place receives such high ratings. It rates as a "cheesy tourist trap", and I have been to lots of tourist areas before. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Lively bar/restaurant

By Hipster8 |

My friend and I visited here whilst staying in San Francisco and we absolutely loved it. Great food and great service. The bar tender was amazing and made us any cocktail we wanted! Wish we got his name, he was lovely and gave out amazing customer service. I would highly recommend for food & drinks.

Nice little place

By Andrew H |

The food was good and the setting was surprisingly spacious. We must have got there at a good time because it became really crowded afterwards. The food was delicious but the portions were a little small for my taste (though perfect for my wife).

Great menu, delicious food, friendly staff

By jenned17 |

We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything looked and sounded so tasty! We were able to order small plates during happy hour and shared the sweet/savory BBQ pulled pork sliders with coleslaw on a toasted bun and the Mac and cheese (bacon, cheesy, toasted topping, mmmm). Highly recommend! It was walkable from our nearby hotel (Cow Hollow). Friendly atmosphere, attentive wait staff. Would revisit if in the area!

Good spot for a cozy dinner

By Cheryl F |

Very friendly staff. Nice place with dark wood interior. I had halibut tacos. I got 3 crispy tacos and sweet potato fries. Very good and plenty of food. My hubby had the burger. Cooked perfect medium with yummy Smokey bacon. Served with tots. Not a huge menu but plenty to chose from. Full bar. Would eat there again when we’re in town.

Such a shame -- it used to be great

By Craig M |

This used to be one of my favorite places to go in San Francisco. My wife and I visit the city about 3-4 times a year and this has always been one of our stops. Not anymore ! The overall menu has decreased significantly. Quality of the food is not at the level it used to be. I can no longer recommend it. And that is so sad. Because it used to be one place I always recommended -- but how quickly they fall.

The food is really good considering....

By Lisa a |

It's a nice bar with good food. Can't fault it at all. The ribs were awesome and the sweet potato fries are also pretty good. Would definitely recommend it.

Great

By Megsrd |

Awesome vibe. Ask to sit in the back courtyard. Yummy food and nice atmosphere. All welcome, kids, bdays etc

Nice enough but it's San Francisco, so a little pricey....

By avatar777 |

We visited at lunchtime. The menu is standard bar food. The menu is varied and many options. The service wasn't exactly sterling but ok. Price, nope, pricey even for San Franciso. I had a burger and it was nice enough but you can get it anywhere in Frisco. If they could fix that, they would be a star.

Good food, great drinks, fabulous atmpsphere

By Care Bear |

Lively atmosphere, better food than you'd expect from popular bar. Friendly staff. Incredible drinks. Neighborhood favorite/go to.

Bar tender was friendly

By Mercedesmom |

Had 3 drinks and bar menu item that $3 bill was $39 great name friendly peeps. Bar tender knew what he was doing it for A long time. Also started in mexico. Thank you

Great food and Spendy Drinks

By NDCoyote |

We had dinner at the Tipsy Pig on a slow Monday night. The service was good. The food was great. We ordered chips and guacamole as an app. The guacamole was amazing - probably the best I have ever had in a restaurant. The carnitas tacos were great. There was a decent kids menu with the usual meals of chicken tenders, mac and cheese etc. The one downside was a very small and expensive margarita. The drink was $12 and came in a small glass which contained about 5 swallows.

Nice late brunch

By KurtZodel |

We were looking for a decent restaurant which at the same time shows sports on the TV (Olympics were happening at the time we were there). The Tipsy Pig was a perfect fit: good salad (beets with green salad and berries, add halibut) and real good sweet potato fries. Nice selection of tab beer and very friendly service. Great relaxed atmosphere

Burger was good. Rest was just ok.

By Kendall B |

The atmosphere consisted of loud and obnoxious kids in their 20s. The burger was good but the rest of the food was nothing special. Overpriced is an understatement. Poor value for what you actually get. Would not go back and would certainly not recommend it.

Best Happy Hour on Chestnut

By Mike B |

What's magical about this place are the people who works here. From the Host to the Bartenders you feel welcome soon at you get in. Was here on 2 consecutive Happy Hour. They have more than 5 choices to chose from . Their Ceviche Tostadas, Crispy Taquitos , Artichoke burrata dip are soooo good. Beers for $5 !!! you can't go wrong with that. They open at 5pm. While waiting for the restaurant to open..We were having a drink across the street. But for $9? Hands down id choose this place...Plus I live within the area..How could I possibly missed this place...I'll be here for sure Monday to Thursday...

Amazing place !

By sandiectds |

The best place to go after work or to celebrate week end ! Lovely patio, the wines are really good and the cocktails super +++ ! A preference for burrata salad and sweet potatoes fries ! Here 5 times at least ! Do not hesitate

OK but limited

By Joe C |

Limited menu but good food. A specialty place. Wanted to buy a bottle of wine but way too expensive - 20 miles from wine country ????? Ended up with Guiness and ribs. OK but not what we had hoped for.

Great bar with an outdoor terrace on Chestnut Street

By Sharan K |

The Tipsy Pig is a great bar to stop after a day out sightseeing in San Francisco. Chestnut street is filled with shops, restaurants and bars. This bar has a great cocktail and wine list along with standard beer offerings. They also have happy hour food on offer to accompany drinks. We opted for fries but other offerings looked good as they were going passed. We had cocktail and wine in the evening. Average prices were $12 onwards for a wine or cocktails. The bar also has an a la carte menu. If you are in the area, stop here and sit in the outdoor terrace. There are heaters there and it was quite warm to be outside in October. There is table service when sitting outside. My only gripe is on top of the tip and tax we were also charged the SF Mandate. It astounds me that guests have to pay for this when employers should.

A really delicious brunch menu

By Norma O |

My food was simply amazing and the waitress was great as well. And the Bloody Mary...slow clap please. Actually all the drinks I tasted were great. I thoroughly enjoyed my last meal in San Francisco immensely, and I'd love to come back

Great for early-evening drinks

By TrialVersion |

The Tipsy Pig is a cool place for early-evening drinks if you're in the Marina (much like Reed and Greenough). They have a bunch of draft beer options and some pretty interesting cocktails.

Value for money, wonderful food

By Gary Williams |

This place came as a recommendation from a colleague and it didn't disappoint. Ate here twice in our 3 nights in SF. Excellent menu and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we chose. Good selection of beers too and being from England it was nice to have a proper pint in a proper glass beer tankard! Great service on both nights, busy environment on a great street buzzing with activity. Highly recommend.

Pleasant but expensive brunch

By Acidov |

I left the eatery with mixed feelings. The food was very good but the portions were tiny and the service pretty slow. Pork Hash looked fantastic on a plate. I liked the idea of the dish with its modern twist but it was not enough for a brunch at all. Dessert, old fashioned doughnuts served with sweet sauces and colorful sprinkles, were a pleasant treat. Nothing unique about them, though. Strawberry Fields cocktail, made with Russian vodka and fresh strawberries, was refreshing and incredibly tasty. The place has an interesting, old fashioned decor. There is also a quite spacious patio behind the building. Perfect place to eat on a sunny day. I would give them one more chance but it is not a cheap culinary adventure.

Decent Food But...

By cmedina2113 |

The food was decent, server was nice but spread way too thin. All 3 of the people who came by our table to check in on us mentioned how understaffed they were. If the story ended there I’d give 4 stars. Unfortunately it doesn’t. We spent 2 hours here eating and having a drink. In that time DOZENS of people stumbled out the front door, many straight into the street, black out drunk. I’m not obtuse, I know this is a bar, but people were coming out so drunk it was concerning. There was even one putting their buddies into an Uber, then coming back in to drink. This example vomited in the street, put his friend in a car, came back inside and kept getting served. Honestly, it was just gross. I wouldn’t recommend coming here given this is an atmosphere that is nurtured.

Fun place to check out

By Brendan M |

Trendy AF atmosphere, superb location. I ordered the burger and was delighted with mouth-watering taste, consistent texture, and complex tastes.

Overall good place

By Keila T |

We came here based on reviews and how close it was to our hotel. My parents were skeptical because the menu was so small but I think they've decreased variety due to COVID. Even though my parents were skeptical everything we had was delicious. I had a chicken sandwhich and the tater tots. My parents shared the queso and chips. We also had the fried donuts for dessert which was surprisingly good as well. Happy we stopped here but wish they had more options.

Great beer selection. Open late

By MarkWaters1974 |

On our first night in town we were surprised with how early everything closed. We happened on the Tipsy Pig as we walked home. The atmosphere was nice although the music did seem out of place. Great beer selection and friendly service.

Two Nights in a Row

By Kathryn B |

We came across this restaurant while riding the bus. The name intrigued us, so we decided to come check it out. We were not disappointed. They had delicious beer and the food was to die for. Our compliments to the chef. The combinations and flavors were outstanding. We tried just about everything on the menu and found the waiter and waitress that we had accommodating and fun. We sat in a window seat alcove and truly enjoyed the people watching. I would highly recommend if you are in San Francisco to plan a meal at the Tipsy Pig.

Good Food and Great Atmosphere

By Julie24k |

I loved the energy in this place. The NFL playoff games were on TV, and the crowd was a mixture of young people on first dates, and sports fans cheering on their teams. The food was great, from the salad, to the entrees. My favorites were the Tater Tots (so crisp outside and soft inside!), and the Chipotle Margarita. I would definitely return.

A little pretentious

By danykelly |

Guys, this place is nice for 2 things, there's a strawberry drink called Strawberry Fields, it's quite nice, and also the outside patio. It stops here - admittedly I've never had anything to eat here and there seems to be some awards given to this place for food, so I can't comment here. The reason I've marked it average is that this place is too pretentious, the wait staff and bar staff are a little to egocentric for my liking, it's unfortunate so just know you've been warned.

Unique as its Name

By Campinggrl18 |

We came across the Tipsy Pig while riding the bus. We thought the name was novel and decided to give it a go. We ate here for dinner two nights and tried almost everything on the menu. We sat in the front corner and enjoyed people watching as the night progressed. The chef or chefs of this restaurant are inventive and have created a menu to delight every tastebud. The wait staff was enjoyable and engaging. You will regret a trip to San Francisco without a stop at the Tipsy Pig!

We had a great meal 🥘 !

By rpperkins1 |

We had a great meal here on a Tuesday night before a concert at the Palace of fine arts Theatre. We were lucky enough to be there early enough for their happy hour and we had a chance to sample some of those offerings. The beer was great the service was outstanding and the food was excellent. I tried the sliders and my friend had tacos. We started off with pretzel bites with beer cheese dip. They offered us a complimentary dessert as well. The atmosphere is very cool. I want to go back.

Perfect for breakfast

By mi v |

I found this place on envibe when I was looking at new restaurants nearby. I went to this place for breakfast. It was very tasty and fast service. I will definitely come again!

Amazing Brunch

By MMM428 |

We walked in from a rainstorm and were whisked away to the back patio where we quickly warmed by the quaint atmosphere and heaters. The drinks were delicious and the brunch was very tasty. My husband got the the hash and I had the huevos rancheros. I would recommend both.

I'm still dreaming about the food

By Lauren_K747 |

I visited the Tipsy Pig upon a recommendation from a friend and was very glad i listened. We were only in SF a few days but it was definitely worth the trip to the Marina District. The atmosphere was great and despite it being a Friday night in December and very busy, I still found the service to be very good. However, it was the food and wine which truly made the difference. I would thoroughly recommend the brussel sprouts, not something i normally say but they were delicious. In fact, everything was amazing and the best meal I have ever had in the US!

GREAT VIBE!

By jilldenton |

We were a group of 12 who had just completed the Houdini Escape Room at the Palace of Fine Arts. After 80 minutes of working hard (and fun) we were ready for some cocktails and food. We walked down Chestnut Street and the Tipsy Pig was calling out name ... and we're very glad it did! We sat outside in the back on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, enjoying cocktails (my favorite was the English Old Fashioned. It was so good, I'm ready to go back for another. The food was also delicious. We shared a bunch of appetizers (sorry can't remember which ones, but they were all great!) Great energy, food and spirits ... and a great vibe too.

Food was great. Service was indifferent.

By Seabiscuit47 |

Had a simple frisee aux lardons salad, which was great and copious. However, table service with lacking and and indifferent. Kinda kills the ambience when you have to request water, or dessert or the bill when the restaurant is near empty. I've waited tables and am sympathetic to the demands, but a little effort and interest in your customer pays benefits.

A great dinner!

This is a fun bar and restaurant with great food and service. The bar was crowded but we got a table for dinner quickly. We had a variety of dishes across the group and they were all good. Friendly service and not rushed. Will come back for sure!

Amazing food and tasty girly cocktails!

By minniethemoocher77 |

We were staying in a hotel in the marina district and were looking for somewhere nice for dinner after a long day sightseeing. An online search led us to the tipsy pig. Very english pub feel to it, lots of dark wood and pictures everywhere, we booked a table online and were glad we did, they were very busy, this is a popular spot. Their menu is a little different, they have different sections, sea dairy and land, they also have salad and soup and food at the bar area. We decided on the devils on horseback, mini burgers, baby back ribs and a side of sweet potato fries, you can share everything on the menu too if you wish, our daughter had the kids mini burgers and fries. The food was hot and tasty, the mini burgers were about the best thing i have ever eaten, and the baby back ribs were just melt in the mouth delicious. We also had a number of cocktails, english fashion which was rather tasty then i opted for a mariposa gimlet, my husband threw caution to the wind and asked for a pig manhattan, which came in a lovely martini glass, was a delightful pink colour and was promptly given to myself while my husband was handed the more manly mariposa..he has yet to live this down. With the aid of a few cocktails we ordered pudding, the beignets are amazing! While this place isn't terribly easy on the wallet, its ideal for a treat yourself blow out, and we left feeling rather merry and full, if your in the area book a table and pig out!

Great Buzz, Good Drinks

By edward d |

We were on the way to our dinner destination on Chestnut Street and decided to have some cocktails here before our meal. What a great atmosphere and great service. People working here seem to like working here. Sounds like a simple idea but too many places simply don't convey that. Our bartender, an Aussie, was friendly and welcoming. And he made a darn good martini. We liked this bar so much, we almost missed our dinner reservation.

Good

Good place to go But be careful of the security guy on friday!he doesn'nt like fun and still you're drink! Stupid people hired in the entrance!

Yummy food and snacks

By Travellover6128 |

We came here as a small group for a couple of drinks and snacks. Drinks were what you would expect with some interesting cocktails. The bar food was very tasty. Pretzel bites, mini burgers, burrata, all very delicious, would love to go back

Great Food, Awesome Happy Hour

By DaisyDot24 |

We went here for an early dinner and it was wonderful. The food was great and the prices were even better, if you ate before 7PM all the wine was half off and most of the food items were as well. My favorite was the burrata and the caesar salad. Everything was great, the server was quick and helpful. We walked out stuffed and having paid around $100.

20s-30s scene and great food!

By Elizabeth D |

At first I was annoyed because there was nowhere to put my purse except the floor, but I quickly got over it when the food came. We shared the Devils on Horseback (bacon wrapped scallops on a polenta cake). It was a good starter. For my entree, I had the gnocchi. It was delicious! It had some sort of sausage that tasted like diced pepperoni. I highly recommend it! My husband had the chicken pot pie, which was also very good. However, I liked mine better. The mac and cheese had a smokey and bacon flavor to it - also very good. You can't go wrong here. We made reservations and it was probably a good call because it was very crowded.

Nice spot for cocktails

By CDubb21 |

We came here during the day to meet some friends for a drink on Saturday. They don't have servers In between lunch and dinner service, so u have to order from the bar and then seat yourself. Bar tender was very inattentive and actually pretty unpleasant. We did find a window seat that was a huge booth and looked out at the people walking in the street. So that was fun. We had a speciality cocktail that was $12 called the French lemonade and it was great! Unfortunately you can't order food during this in between time, which was a bummer bc we were all hungry. They actually kick you out around 5 to make room for dinner crowd. So that was a different concept. They could be making a lot of money during that time if they allowed u to order food!!!

Good the food but we had problem with the order

By Georgia P |

We went here and took the hamburgers. They are delicious but I and my friend asked for differently cooked meat. They arrived with two hamburgers and told us they are the same. When we pointed out that we asked for differently cocked meat they took one plate and returned 2 minutes later, telling us it is the correct type. At last they switched the plate and we ate the wrong burgers. I didn’t like that behavior so I can’t give more than 3 points but if it wasn’t for this problem I think the score would have been higher for the good quality of the food and the drinks. For 3 people we spent about 95$.

Fun place with a nice garden!

By Ssea1981 |

We were having coffee opposite of the Tipsy Pig and thought 'that is a funny name for a bar'. A good reason to go there for a drink and discover it. Well, you cannot see it from outside, but this restaurant also has a nice garden, so that's were we went for a drink. Great!

Amazing guacamole!!!

By Where's my scrunchie |

This restaurants gets pretty busy during weekend. They have a beautiful outside patio that is great for drinks during day when it's sunny. The food here is good. They have different salads that are perfect size and delicious. I would recommend to get guacamole as an appetiser - it's amazing! Staff here is friendly and they make sure you have everything you need :)

Nice Outdoor Seating

By mongooAtascadero |

Sat outside to eat on a pleasant summer evening. My hamburger was fine, the back patio was pretty. Service was a little slow.

Consistently poor service and overall experience

By PeterSanFran123 |

This place could be good if it wasn't for its consistently poor service. I give it a chance once a year to see if they improve, and every time I experience the hostess and managers with an unfriendly, bad attitude. Here's the latest: I reserve a table (in person) for 8 people. They call me the day of the event to confirm that I will be showing up. I confirm. Then the manager calls me one hour before the event and tells me a miscommunication happened internally and they can't accommodate us.

Delicious Sliders

By AngieNannetteT |

The service and atmosphere were great, and the food was delicious. I would recommend the Mini Burgers and the BBQ Pork Sliders. Thank me later.

Casual Dining

By 4everjung |

This is a fun little place that is adjusting to COVID-19 outdoor dining. My husband had the crispy tacos and they hit the spot for him. I had the tuna tartar....it was okay, definitely not great. The avocado mash base was a bit too mushy and runny for my liking. The tater tots absolutely rock and are a must! We sat street side and found it surprisingly private in a crazy way. Because the sidewalks remain open for foot traffic, people watching opportunities exist. Our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. We will return.

Drinks at the bar

By KathBOS |

We had drinks at the bar on a Saturday night. Fun party vibe inside. Bartenders were hustling and very friendly. Seemed like they were enjoying the crowd. I ordered a margarita-which was perfectly made. My friend had red wine which she enjoyed. Service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere was a lot of fun!

Great little bar

By justsaurette |

Arrived late on a Tuesday night to Lombard St.and walked to the Tipsy Pig for a night cap. Surprisingly, the old wooden bar was full and had to sit at a table for a round until a pair of seats opened up. The beer selection was adequate. We're bar people and got to talking. The bartenders were friendly and gave us some great tips on places to eat and to do in San Francisco.

Hoping for improvements to this well located Marina gastropub

By Michael_7X7 |

What a sad experience. The dishes are predictable but nothing memorable. One of the easiest thing to do for any establishment is to be clean and tidy. After many visits our group finally discussed a few sad realities. 1) The bathrooms are consistently nasty. How can this be a difficult priority 2) The staff is spread too thin and some are less than knowledgeable about the menu. 3) The location while good has many other options that are a better value 4) Several really nice people work here but they even know there is a lot of room for improvement based on a few remarks made in their dash to expedite dishes, take orders, and answer questions. 5) The backyard patio is a draw and is quite comfortable and good for small groups. The Tipsy Pig has some great people working there but the day to day operations of this Marina gastropub is far from what I imagine is their own expectations. We will try again after the Spring and see if the Tipsy Pig has improved. We hope it does.

Perfect!

By M2424TWdebbies |

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner on the back patio. The outdoor environment is absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious. We had our kids with us (ages 9 and 13) and it was absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great meal

By flybysts |

Had a very enjoyable meal with friends here. The only drawback is kitchen and bar service is pretty slow but when you’re with friends you don’t really care, however got our food before our drinks and some of the food was not hot. They were very gracious and brought it back to reheat it and make it right so that’s all that counts. Other than that the service is very genuine and the kitchen put out some great food Will return.

Came here after a lengthy google search

By rob27898 |

Came here after a lengthy google search for somewhere to have to diner on a Monday night as surprisingly everywhere else seemed either closed or a take-on-Chinese restaurant. Was seated promptly once I realised there was an employee stood at a podium. Place was very busy and football was being shown so felt more like a sports bar then the trendy pub/restaurant their website seems to depict. Staff were friendly enough in the short interactions I had with them but the poor guy directly under the telly seemed somewhat annoyed he wasn’t getting served very quickly. It was an in and out experience and I’m sure it’s less sporty when there isn’t a big game on. Would visit again.

TINY AMOUNT OF FOOD - LARGE TAB!

By epique |

Had not been in for some time but were shocked upon ordering the $18 pot pie to find such a tiny dish of food. Although it was average/good it was certainly not worth the $36. Have a drink and go down the street to one of the nice deli's or another restaurant. We have many great restaurants which give you much more bang for your buck!

Lunch in sfo

By GK B |

Went here since its near the palace of fine arts. Good quality food, the service is not that good but i understand the situation, its busy on the weekend. I got a salad which is good for the price and my sister got a macaroni and cheese.

Popular for good reason

By Tyler H |

We have visited the Tipsy Pig on both of our recent trips to San Fran. It has become one of our favorite spots in the city. The place is almost always packed making advanced reservations a good idea, especially on weekend nights. The food is great with an array of apps that can easily make for a complete dinner with added ease of table sharing. There are plenty of drink options, including some specialty cocktails. Tipsy Pig has a somewhat upscale neighborhood sports bar vibe and makes for a great spot to watch any big sporting events. The lively ambiance is perfect for a simple nightly dining destination or a final going-out location with a group of friends. We will certainly return back on our next trip to San Fran.

I'm coming back

By Fritz |

Everything was a five except the meatballs. We had the sliders, burrata, caesar and some good wine at half off. I like this place.

Amazing Brunch!

By Jessica C |

My friend took me here to try brunch while on vacation in San Francisco, she raved and raved about the cinnamon buns and drinks. I usually don't go for the sweat options during brunch...but OMG were they incredible. They're small, so good for an appetizer...topped with bacon, and cooked perfectly! Everything else we ate was incredible too. I had the Goat Cheese-Chive Scramble, with a (few) mimosas..and YUM! One friend had the Breakfast Sandwich, and the other had Chilaquilas. Everyone was happy, and FULL. We couldn't finish our meals, which was a shame bc they were so good. We sat in the courtyard, outside, in the back and it was so cute! Feels like a cozy backyard garden. I loved everything about this place, and would definitely go back! There are a bunch of cute shops nearby, too, if you have to wait for a table...or want to explore!

Great Atmosphere

By Caryn W |

Love this restaurant. Food was awesome. Lively and friendly find. The chicken pie is so good, fresh vegetables and chicken melts in your mouth. The pastry was really good. The chicken and creamy mash was also sensational.

Scrumpous Brunch

By Cindy H |

We selected the Tipsy Pig for brunch and are so glad we did! We had an awesome experience ! The wait staff was super friendly and provided excellent service. We ordered Mimosas which weren't were too diluted with OJ. We started our brunch with donuts which came with icing, sprinkles and chocolate sauce which you could dip your own. They were hot and tasty!! Next we ordered the tator tots which were also warm and crunchy. My husband and I shared the Huevos Rancheros which was out of this world!! Love love love this item. Finally my daughter ordered the Chicken and Waffles which of course was awesome too. We will be coming back here for sure!!

Good atmosphere

By jayne h |

Feels like a real bar with lots of atmosphere and very friendly service. Food good but portions very small. Lots of shops round and about to browse before eating.

Awesome Food, Fun Place

By h0lym0ly |

My husband and I took our son and his girlfriend to this restaurant. They recently moved to San Fran and live within walking distance to this restaurant so it was fun to walk there. The place is really busy and a buzzing atmosphere. Luckily we had a table at the very back so not quite as noisy as the rest of the place. The patio behind the main room looked really cute with lots of little white lights in the greenery around it. We ordered a selection of sharing plates and our server helped us to make our choices. Everything was excellent!!!! There were some unusual items on the menu and the brussel sprouts were to die for. We kept ordering more and more dishes until we were stuffed. It's not fine dining; it's upscale pub food which is our favorite. We will definitely go back!

You can get tipsy Cuz the food stinks

By Joyce T |

The drinks were good nd priced for the area. the food is over priced and not good. It was cold and not good flavor.

Nice place

By Andrea A |

We went for dinner. It is a small place, so sitting at a table to two, you feel like you are sitting with other couples. Definitely, for the younger crowd. Food was good, but a little pricey. I had the Strawberry Fields drink. It usually comes with vodka, but they made it with rum for me since that is my choice drink. :) It's a nice place. Decorated nicely.

Drink

Stopped here for a drink on our way back from a Golden Gate trail. Great service, beer and cool place

A find in San Francisco

By Maureen S |

An action-packed little restaurant on Chestnut Street in San Francisco. I was greeted warmly and seated quickly. My waiter was attentive, and informative. FYI, I ordered a dirty martini straight up, it was made perfectly. I went for their tipsy burger which was great, Make sure you order the horseradish and aioli on the side, perfect touch with the hamburger. I hadn't eaten in San Francisco for a while and when checking my bill there was an extra tax on it. When I asked my waiter he said it was for the health insurance for the people in San Francisco that cannot afford it. Also note that at this restaurant when you order a drink straight up there's an additional charge of two dollars. Having said all this next time I'm in the area I will return to this restaurant.

Great for a casual meal

By CF--DH |

Quick service and the food was tasty... burgers, pasta etc. I downloaded a menu from Google, and prices were not current... significantly higher.

My daughter's favorite restaurant and now I know why

By Kim W |

We had lunch here on a sunny afternoon. Outside seating is great. The menu was very good and offers vegan and vegetarian options. I got the tostada salad that was absolutely delicious. Tasted my husband's beet salad and it was good, but not as good as mine. The specialty cocktails are amazing. I had the Spring Fling made with cucumber vodka. It was light and refreshing - perfect for a sunny afternoon.

Awesome!

By Mark F |

Best bar/restaurant in the area, reasonably priced food, live music, and super friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Good but expensive

By Mitchrj1 |

Clearly very popular with the locals, as this was one busy place on a Tuesday night. The beer selection was not as extensive as I had hoped, but what I did try was good. The foods was also very good, albeit rather expensive. I doubt you will be disappointed if you go here.

Great place to duck in for a beer and appetizer

By YankeeOne |

Had read the reviews and decided to give this place a try. Good selection of beers and apps. Happy hour was a great bargain. I had the the pulled BBQ sliders...they were excellent!! Great crowd and great customer service. Definitely recommend!

Trendy

By Doc-US-08 |

We just stopped in for drinks, and the place is hopping. A little pricey, but we liked the atmosphere. The bartender was engaging and fun. Worth a stop and maybe dinner.

Rushed and below average

By brownjnr |

Firstly, the tables for 2 are way too close together. You can hear every word from the tables on either side. The atmosphere is lively and fun. We ordered cocktails which were very poorly made. The margarita was way too salty and there was not enough mix. The food wasn't good at all. The fried chicken wasn't on the bone and came with a spoonful of mash and a bizarre cinnamon flavoured sauce. These should be called tenders and be on the appetisers list...and they cost $21!! The chicken pot pie was terrible, with tiny pieces of chicken, no veg on the side and a sauce that was drowned in tarragon. A very disappointing meal.

Tremendous surprise

By Leighton S |

We were looking for a place within wali g distance of hotel. Having said that we were not thinking we would find something quite so cool. The food was fantastic for two adults plus for two teens. Service excellent as well

A waste of time.

By OregonCountry |

We stopped in here for dinner one night. It was a disappointment. We are from the Northwest, which is the brew pub capitol of the US, so we are maybe a little spoiled, but the food and beer at this place doesn't measure up. Not to mention, it's over priced for the quality of food/drink you get, even by San Francisco standards. I ordered a burger ($16). Let that sink in a minute... Yes, they only have ONE burger to choose from, and yes, it's $16! It reminded me precisely of those so called "Angus" burgers they sell at McDonald's. A patty, cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion, and mayo on a fancy bun, pretending to be a pub burger. That's it. On top of that, I ordered it medium, and it came rare and red. But hey, at least for my $16 it came with a cup (yes I said a cup) of French fries! To drink I ordered what was supposed to be a Kolsch style ale for $7. It tasted and looked exactly like Coors Light. Blechh! I couldn't even finish it! My wife ordered a Caesar salad ($13), which is over priced for a salad with no chicken. She was offered the option of adding chicken to the salad but was afraid to ask what they would charge for some bits of meat (probably $5-6) so she said no. She said the Caesar dressing was good. Overall, with tax and tip, our burger, salad and one bad Coors light came to almost $50. And it was mostly crap. The only reason I gave it a 2 rating is because the service was decent, and the Caesar dressing was good. The Tipsy Pig is that close to "Tipping over" to a 1! Don't waste your time and money here.

Cocktails, beers and food

By Green121 |

We met a group here for dinner whilst in San Francisco. We had a few fantastic cocktails on arrival - wonderful and knowledgeable bartender. Food was to share and great selection. Excellent food and drink menus, friendly staff and well priced!

Sunday lunch

By Michael C |

My wife and I are tourists in San Francisco. We booked a city business sightseeing tour. Near the end of the tour we decided to get off the bus to explore Chestnut St. to find somewhere for lunch. We found this place and loved it. The place was busy but we were seated after about 10 minutes. The menu was biased towards brunch diners but a burger and fries suited us on the day. The service was very good and the prices reasonable. Would recommend to friends.

Yum!

By SrqJP |

Great ambience, service and we enjoyed the small plates - Kobe sliders, Bert salad and most loved the mac and cheese. I didn't love the baked canned onions on top but I was the exception. Cocktails were fantastic, not cheap but you were poured generously.

Local gem with great bar eats

By marie1978 |

We were so tired from flying all day and just wanted to eat somewhere casual and relatively close to our hotel. Very happy about our decision to try The Tipsy Pig. Great local vibe and creative bar eats. Two thumbs up for the mac 'n cheese and BBQ pork sliders!

Excellent lunch

By travelwithpam |

After a Sunday walk with friends decided to stop here for lunch. My all means sit outside to the rear of the restaurant. Every seating area has heat lamps so it is nice & cozy. Tried the breakfast tacos which were great and the chicken sandwich. Nice wine & cocktail list.

Great place

By Marie F |

Found this place on busy neighborhood street. It was fantastic! Great service, great drinks and great food! (Scallops-yum! And I generally don't like them but thought since I was on vacation, I should try food I don't normally eat). Fun place.

Crappy Snobitorium

By R2895JGpeterl |

During our two week trip to San Fran, Monterey, Big Sur, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Napa and points in between, this is the only place that made us feel unwelcome. Californians are incredibly friendly, courteous, and helpful people, with the exception of this place. Sat for 45 minutes at our table with empty beer glasses and nobody bothered to see if we might want another. Or something to eat. Or anything. Unforgivable.

Nice Ambiance, Tasty Food But Small Portions

By JillClardy |

Think of this as a bar with bar-bites and you won’t be disappointed. We ordered ribs, fish tacos and chicken tacos. The small ribs were stacked on a deflated pile of slaw, with no sides. The tacos were delicious but similarly served - with no sides. The waiter did ask if we wanted to upgrade our orders from 2 to 3 tacos. If these small plates had been served at the bar rather than a sit-down dining table, we would not have been surprised. We didn’t go home hungry, but felt the price was rather high for what we received. Fortunately, the wine by the glass was a generous pour!

Cracking Bar

By lmills2309 |

Great beers, good food, really friendly staff. Well worth a visit if you are hungry and / or thirsty. I had the burger, was really meaty and well priced. Good layout inside, plenty of space and a welcoming atmosphere.

Friendly bar with local beers

By Stuart Y |

Popped into this bar whilst in the Marina district of San Fran and had a lovely couple of local brewed beers and a friendly chat with the bar staff and locals.

A sleeper of a gourmet pub!

By Alex1850 |

Food is wholesome but exceptionally well flavoured and prepared. I’m just thrilled another first destination eatery was too busy and we ended up here!

Late Night Eats and Drinks

By TravelingG8TR |

Came in late night looking for something to eat after a long drive to San Fran. We sat at the bar and had a few appetizers which were delicious - fish tacos, fried shrimp, and pretzels and cheese. The food was expensive but delicious. They have an array of beers on tap and bottled. Great location near lots of other restaurants and shops.

Delicious!!

By kristen P |

Everything was delicious! The animal burger was top notch & the regular one as well as the pretzel bites & the drinks were amazing

Nice spot in a nice area

By fabioborsoi |

Chestnut Street is a very nice spot. You can walk around see beautiful people and shop nice cloth around. We jump in for a beer but we have dinner too. Food is good and service too.

Bar fun

By markj4golf |

This bar is lively and jumping... stopped in to have a couple of beers and hang, and really have a fun time... cocktails looked amazing, but I was just a beer drinker this night.. service was good, friendly, and everyone there seems to be having a good time.

Just ok

By CazRiyadh |

The food was average and the staff were just ok. We ordered tacos which they provided no cutlery for, so had to request. We asked for mayonnaise and was charged a dollar which was a bit mean.

Amazing!

By Amy.Clark |

I can’t recommend this place enough! The staff is amazing and super friendly! Our waitress Alexandria was so awesome! She recommended we try the Strawberry Fields and it was to die for!! We were looking for a good time and we found it! The patio is SO pretty and it was completely covered for the winter rainy season. So smart! Go to the Tipsy Pig! You won’t be disappointed!

It is fine but not really memorable

By marabird1988 |

On an autumn Sunday night, I had made the mistake of not making a reservation anywhere. Walking around the area at 7 - 7:30 it was hard to get in anywhere. I was glad to get a table here. It is a loud bar with lots of TVs, very dark - so much so that I had to pull out the phone to read the menu, which I never do. I had a glass of wine and the enchiladas, which were quite tasty. But since service was just barely cordial, and a visit to the bathroom made me worry a little about cleanliness, I wouldn't hurry back.

Good food great service

By Heather K |

In town for a few days and it's close to our hotel. The whole neighborhood has a great vibe. Had the burger & my friend had the mini burgers

Good Drinks

By Jamie O |

Visited on a Friday around 4:30 PM with a group of 5 and were seated right away on the back patio. Ordered several cocktails including Bee's Knees (gin), Grandfather's Tea (bourbon), tequila cocktails, and an Old Fashioned. All were made well and had cute presentations. They also served food starting at 5 though we didn't order any. Would recommend for drinks!

Great menu

By Bob M |

A pub with a great atmosphere and menu: food and beer. Lots to choose from. We came on a weeknight and it was pretty crowded. I suggest making a reservation.

Came highly recommended. Delivered!

By James Black |

We were looking for somewhere conveniently situated for a day of exploration that offered tasty food and beverages without a fussy atmosphere. We came here twice, for breakfast and dinner, received great service and enjoyed some fabulous local beers, large portions of great meat dishes and some fine wine enjoyed in a convivial atmosphere. What more do you need?

After looking for a Restaurant before our trip, found this one and had to visit.

By brecksmiller70 |

The place is always busy but the service was really good, food was great too. They have plenty of beers on tap for you to chose from.

Upscale pub serving great food in the Marina!

By SasMonti |

Pleasant upscale pub surroundings. Lots of local, young people frequent here and it's obviously a trendy place to be on Chestnut St. which is full of bars and restaurants. Good selection of wines and, of course, beers. What brought me to this place was my craving for chicken pot pie ~interestingly seasoned with rosemary and tarragon I was not disappointed. A must get is the smoked bacon Mac 'n' Cheese. I'm a big fan of Mac 'n' Cheese this dish was so good, I wish we got another one. Bruschetta ~ couldn't resist when I saw this with prosciutto & fresh burrata cheese, roasted garlic puree, meyer lemon, broccoli di cicco and mustard blossom. Tipsy Pig burger ~ served on a pain de mie bun and a side of sweet potato fries just delicious and should satisfy anyone's burger craving. Also enjoyed the Strawberry Fields cocktail drink. Great food, atmosphere & service! Definitely a fun vibe in the Marina district! Four stars!

First night in San Francisco

By anjip_3 |

Booked this restaurant from uk due to great trip advisor reviews, on arrival atmosphere was fantastic Lighting is very dark which makes reading menus a bit if an issue 😉that being said we ordered shrimp 🍤 and Brussels sprout appetisers both were delicious, Brussels were slightly salty For mains we went with burgers 🍔 all in all these were good not the best burger we’ve ever had but definitely not the worst either We had 2 glasses each of local red & white wine too Service was good too Total price $135 so not the cheapest either, wine by glass $13

Strawberry fields in amazing!

You have to order the strawberry fields as it was spectacular! I had a hamburger and it was delicious. We ordered the macaroni and cheese as a appetizer and I could of eater plates of it!!!!

Relaxing drink & good food

By lennybaker |

Had a nice relaxing drink and evening meal here back in September. Good selection of local beers, fun food, and friendly service. Nice atmosphere too.

I was a tipsy pig : P

By Elizabeth D |

This was a fun restaurant with a relaxed environment. My husband and I met a friend there for dinner and drinks. The drink selection was great and I tried a different beer every time I ordered a new drink, so got to try three beers I had never had before. The beers on tap also come in three different sizes--10,15,20 oz--which was great because I could order the smaller sizes to try more types of beer. The food menu was on the smaller side and they are all sharing plates except for the burgers. Everything we ordered was delicious and came out quickly even though the restaurant and bar were both packed. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxed meal and drinks. I left the Tipsy Pig full and a little tipsy haha.

Easy Breezy Spot & Area☆♡

We love this establishment because it is Comfy, casual, interesting...with some great menu items to accompany Good Conversations + People watching taken to a new level☆ Lovely patio area in back & the window seat with street view is just Nice♡

Delicious food

By WellyNick |

The Tipsy Pig is a typical american take on a British style pub and, for the most part, it gets it right. The food was delicious and the bar stocked a great selection of beers. The only downside is, when busy near the bar, patrons end up standing in the dining area which is off putting if you're trying to eat. Otherwise a great place to eat and drink.

fun place, good food

By laura c |

We didn't have reservations, and we wandered into the place. They seated us in the back, and that was fine. the server was very nice, informative and helpful without being pushy. we had a few drinks and dinner.

Not A Home Run

By armanistyle187 |

Stopped in for brunch, and I was starving. I'm talking like I needed substance immediately, or I might not make it another hour. Grabbed a seat at the bar and after a review of the menu, I decided on the breakfast sandwich (I'm a sucker for a good breakfast sando). Food took almost 45 minutes to arrive, (which wasn't a huge deal, they were busy) but sadly wasn't worth the wait. Biscuit was really dry, and very heavy; like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period of time. Bacon was very salty, which usually is okay (I heart sodium) but this was overpowering. Overall, I wasn't thrilled with my experience, but perhaps it was because they were just really busy at the time? I like the location though, so perhaps I'll have to give them another chance.

Good drinks

By mogulman |

Food was good. Decent drink selection. Not huge. A little too trendy for me. We had a good time though.

Good pork belly

By wombatdavid |

We had dinner here after a day of driving around the city. I had the pork belly which was tasty. The chicken quesadillas were good but cold in middle so had clearly been pre-made and reheated. Enjoyable overall.

Good beer, average food

By martandvic |

Firstly the beer choice and quality is not bad at all. Prices are a bit toppy but not over the top. Food is 'for sharing', not for us I'm afraid, chicken pot pie not big enough for the price. Chicken tenders ok and quantity better. Really wanted to try a second night but will go elsewhere

Good brunch - quaint spot!

By TravelJunkieABC |

Great spot with lots of foot traffic around. Easy to see this is a true neighborhood location. The deco was quaint for a long narrow restaurant and bar. Tried to sit in patio, but crowds prevented it without a long wait time. Enjoyed chicken tortilla soup which was thick with tomatoes and onions. Great flavor! The breakfast sandwich with tater tots was delicious, but a tad greasy from the outer toasted and buttered bread. Otherwise really yummy. Eggs Benedict was good too! Waitress was attentive and well versed on menu and recommendations. Enjoyed brunch! A fun spot with a vibrant crowd at all hours!

We were recommended by a colleague who is a local to try this place and we were disappointed. Great service, friendly staff and really good food well presented. In a lovely neighbourhood just above the Presidio but only a $15 Uber from Union Square Give it a go

Lovely outdoor patio

Had a great brunch at The Tipsy Pig. Lucky to get a spot out in the back patio. The service was good, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was inviting and relaxed. Worth stopping in.

Racist management

I have never been more disappointed or disturbed after witnessing the treatment of two African American women at the Tipsy Pig. Me and about 10 friends came into the Tipsy Pig in celebration of my 24th birthday and began ordering drinks. We found a large table to sit around for about 30 minutes and had been laughing amongst ourselves and enjoying the day. Out of the blue, a server came up to the only two African American women within our group and let them know that at the manager's request, they were being "cut off." They were not trying to order a drink at the time of this interaction. They were not acting in a manner differently from anyone else at our table or anyone else in the entire bar, for that matter. Because of this, we politely asked the server to speak with the manager who made this request. After describing to us that these two women (who had the least to drink out of anyone at our table, including myself on my own birthday) were too intoxicated to continue ordering drinks, we said to him to please play attention to the optics of the situation and that this was a very clear demonstration of racial profiling. He may not have been aware of this, but it was clear it was happening. The moment we used the word "profiling," he became enraged in a fit of fragility. How dare these two African American women accuse the manager of something so offensive? He then very aggressively grabbed the drinks out of the hands of these two 100-pound, young, scared, lucid, intelligible, and extremely humiliated women and in front of the entire back patio told them they were no longer welcome. Again, not because they had too much to drink, but simply because they questioned why they specifically were being treated differently. Our entire table agreed that there was no way this wasn't racially motivated. The behavior of this man was demeaning, hostile, problematic, and totally unbefitting of a manager. Because of this we will never return to this bar, and I seriously encourage the Tipsy Pig management to take a very deep, introspective look on how unacceptable racial microaggressions and racial profiling are and how they should have no place in a bar, in San Francisco, or anywhere else. Not a good look, Tipsy Pig.

We were both just wandering down chestnut Street looking for something to eat, when we came across the pig and whistle. Wow what a treat very helpful on arrival all the waiting staff were fantastic nothing was ever a problem. The food and the cocktails were out of this world. Thankyou all so much for a wonderful couple of hours

Woke up with a headache after an afternoon and evening at this place. Very busy indeed. I was one of the oldest there (40) which should give you an idea of the demographic. Smart place full of beautiful people!
