Very good food. Great atmosphere for business.

This is a great restaurant for business or pleasure. I ordered a steak and it was excellent. The Caesar salad was also very good and the dressing was not too strong. Drinks were well made and I would recommend checking this place out.

Nice seared Ahi but avoid the steak

By Brad M |

The Ahi Tuna was very nice but the steak was unsatisfactory. I the kale with the steak was steamed with not seasoning so very bland. I’ve eaten much better steak for half the price.

Average

Nice place but high priced, very average food. Will not return in the future. I think they hire people to leave positive reviews.

Great food with amazing staff

I dined here with a friend during restaurant week. The food was very good and the portions were generous. The wine was excellent and the wait staff and host were absolutely amazing.

First and last time

By AmirSFO |

This was the first and last time we would go to this restaurant/bar. Except for the million dollar burger at par with In and Out burger, the food is nothing short of disgusting. They need to get a cook book for their cook so he could make edible meals. Who on earth would serve oysters dressed with vinegar with lemon on the side!! The server are nice but do not even try to be professional. With rain splashing around us, the night turned in to a complete waste of our Saturday night. Only a tasteless owner would have the arrogance of running such an establishment.

For a young restaurant they are doing very well

We had a very enjoyable evening dinning here. Each dish was well presented, tasty and good value. The service was great. A reasonable wine list both in volume and price. The menu is seasonal and can differ from the website.

Best oysters I had in SanFran

Had a business dinner here. Excellent oysters, great bread, wines were really good, as was the steak. Really good service, the cheesecake was excellent as well. Highly recommend the Barolo desert wine.

Unusual Find With Fantastic Food And Service!

By BeethovenBuff |

Interesting room with an eclectic menu and excellent service. We were a party of three friends and were enthusiastically welcomed as we entered. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. The wine suggestion was spot-on. This was a weeknight and the restaurant was quiet. However, there was a lively bar scene. We were told that luncheon was always busy and full. If you are looking for a marvelous dinner in an interesting environment, I highly recommend The Vault!

Excellent food, service, and ambiance.

Great spot for a business lunch. The service was fast and professional. The food was delicious. Especially loved the Parker Roles with avocado and beets. Will definitely be back to try more from their menu. As a bonus they have very cool flatware :)

I really wanted to give a better review but

By ConnieLongBeach |

I had dinner here with 2 friends and while the setting was very nice and the server very helpful, there were some disappointments. First the positive, the bruschetta, risotto and roasted mushrooms were very good but the parker rolls were terrible, tasted like they did in 1960, beignets covered in flour and dull tasting but the worst part of all was the $1 per guest for propane for the outdoor heaters! This should be paid by the restaurant as part of their price of doing business AND it was so hot, why didn't they turn some off to save money????

Very good restaurant.

Very good restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Good service, attention. The fish, meat and dessert were very tasty. We were given a sofa for two. Thank you

Excellent food, service and venue on the patio!!

By D i |

A girlfriend and I had lunch during happy hour there recently and ended up spending a couple hours. The outdoor covered patio dining was great and they had plenty of heaters if needed. And, they had no problem having my small Cavalier dog sit under our table! :-) The menu changes, but the dishes we had were just excellent! Would recommend it and we'll be back.

Loved this Place

We went to The Vault earlier this week on a business lunch with a friend. It was fantastic. The restaurant is located on the Concourse Level of 555 California Street on the Pine Street side of the building. Our party of 2 ordered the Lobster Bisque, the burger and fries and the Tuna Nicoise Salad. All of the food was excellent. We were seated right away and the server was very attentive to our needs. They have a website too if you want to see menu items and prices before making a reservation. We enjoyed this place and would go back.

Sexy decor, delicious food & excellent service

By SJB_4152 |

Amazing restaurant, lovely atmosphere, fabulous food and seriously great service. The Rosé was delicious - I asked the waitress for a recommendation between 2 wines and while she recommended the Rosé she brought both over for me to try. We had the Caesar salad for starter - we shared it. It was enough to share and was a really tasty & light salad to start. The scallops were cooked perfectly and together with the sauce were just delicious. Chose the chocolate lava cake for dessert and glad my husband & I chose to get one each - I couldn’t share it! I enjoyed every bite!! Special mention for Danielle - she was our waitress tonight. Best service I think I’ve experienced in the USA. An absolute asset to the restaurant. Thanks for the recommendations on the food & beverages and for your warm hospitality.

Amazing place for Networking Events!

By Franck Ortet |

We organised a networking/dinner evening there for 13 Leading Marketing Professionals from San Francisco and it went extremely smoothly. The food was delicious and the staff were ever so friendly, polite and professional. We definitely recommend this place to eat as their Tartare is of excellent quality and taste! 😋

Extraordinary apps and drinks with mixed service and ordinary entrees

By Leo M |

The good news in this time of COVID is that The Vault Garden is open, serves yummy apps and drinks, and is outdoors-ish. The Parker House Rolls, Minestrone, Squash Salad, and Stone Fruit Burrata were all extraordinary. The Smoked Trout and Cast-Iron Seared Dry-Aged Beef were good...but not great. On the drinks side, I very much loved my Zocalo (light on the agave), my wife her Lay It On Me, and my daughter her Kombucha. But despite my wife's request for a drink on the less sweet side, her first one - the waiter's recommendation of a Lost in Bora Bora - proved *way* too sweet. Which leads us into the mixed service experience. Not only did the waiter apparently have no idea about the Lost in Bora Bora he also couldn't tell us what the minestrone soup tasted like. It was extraordinary - kind of a deconstructed soup with a tomato base poured over fresh veg - but at this price point the waiter should know the menu. Worse, our drinks arrived after we had finished our apps. In some sense not our waiter's fault...but when he dropped them off he should have said something along the lines of, "I'm sorry, the bar is very backed up tonight...would you like to order a second round now?" Instead he disappeared, and by the time we could flag him down and order that second round the drinks ended up arriving at our table as we were finishing up dinner. To get back to the menu, the apps were for the most part amazing but the entrees were limited in selection (one each of Branzino, scallops, pork, or beef) and constrained by a 'simple protein plus carb plus veg' formula. We had intended to order a pasta but we learned upon arrival that the wonderful sounding braised beef, foraged mushroom, and horseradish concoction we anticipated had been replaced by pork and beans. C'est la vie. All in all, we would certainly return given the option but now understand we have to better manage our waiter and expectations.

Best steak in San Francisco

By Lloyd M |

As a steakhouse fan who has tried big names across the globe, I usually try to avoid the steak scene in SF but a friend took me to the Vault and it was a great steakhouse. Started with the shrimp cocktail and thought the cocktail sauce and horseradish was excellent; the shrimp may have not been the biggest or best ever but they did the job. The tableside Caesar was a great salad with multiple levels of flavor. Every steakhouse has a gimmick, here they give you a selection of steak knives. While it is a gimmick, it is unique and I have to admit I did enjoy choosing my knife. The Tomahawk ribeye was excellent, the perfect amount of marbeling and fat and cooked exactly as ordered. I also found their Brussels Sprouts excellent. One of, if not the, best steak house experiences I’ve had in San Francisco.
