Pretty expensive, bring lot's of money.. the bites are really small and 1 margarita was $14.00. You pay for the view

Went here twice. Each time it was loud, with rowdy groups or packed wall to wall. The architecture of the space reflects sound and makes it quite noisy. I lost my voice and didn't even realize I was talking over the roar. The wine list is incredibly uninspiring, but not cheap. Mostly CA choices, and not super great ones either. Food service ends at 11, except for some over greasy "house made" potato chips and a dip that were both fairly sad. The chips appeared quite quickly, which is a telltale sign that they were fried hours ago. I've been at the Marquis many times and never made it up here. Now that I have, that box is checked and I never need to go back. Try hard to find something better.

The name says it all. The view is amazing.Probably one of the best in downtown SF. Space is a nice place to grab a bite to eat or grab a bite to eat. Go early and definitely get reservations as it gets very busy. Pricey

This place gets three stars only bc of Eva. She was our server and very delightful, and very attentive to us. The place itself is meh. Was told to come here for the views and it sure had nice ones, IF you can get a table; we ended up in the back area which was nice in its own way bc there it was a quiet area with privacy. This place is pretty packed with a younger crowd that was willing to pay for overpriced drinks; but that was expected as it’s a hotel. $25-$28 is the average for a specialty cocktail, and they were all very meh as well. Pretty drinks, but all doused with too much sugar and syrup; we barely finished and made our way out sooner than later. Some tips if you want to visit: maybe go at lunchtime or on a weekday? Also, stick to your usual cocktails, don’t order from the specialty menu which offered lots of sugary stuff. I’m not cheap, but my overall review is that I just think there are better places to go for a cocktail that is less costly, with a view.

Fabulous view. Just got a beer and enjoyed the view. Salesforce Tower is beautiful at night to watch.

We arrived at The View and ordered drinks fairly quickly considering how crowded it was. Good views and great (but pricey) cocktails! I would recommend this lounge for a memorable time!

Service was impeccable here and it was a busy Friday night. At first look all the window seating areas were full but we found a couch that another group was willing to share and it worked out perfect. Although it was pretty foggy so there wasn't much view in the distance this night. They had some great music playing so the vibe was fun. The apps we had were all soooo good - cheese board, tuna poke and heirloom tomato flatbread. This was a great addition to our time in San Francisco.

Pricey but a great view. Since it's not on top of a hill the view doesn't carry as far, but still cool Usually crowded but if you go early or late not too bad.

The view lounge has an amazing view, and because of that it can get amazingly busy. Drinks are not cheap but very nice. If you are visiting from out of town it is definitely worth a visit .

Great selection of drinks and price is okay. It offers the best view of the city at night. Great crowd too!

If you want a seat get there right when it opens. It's popular. My drink was very nice but there were no complimentary bar snacks. A bit pricy and noisy, but nice to watch the sunset over the city.

If you can stay in this Marriott please do it, it’s very well located and has this amazing restaurant and bar on top. Cocktails are great and specialty the desserts are very good, a bit expensive but the view of San Francisco worth it.

Called up for drinks as we were staying in the hotel and it doesn't disappoint. Huge picture windows give a fantastic view in all directions. There is a good choice of drinks available and the service was very good.

My husband and I went to the view lounge about 30 minutes before sunset so we could see the view during the day and at night. There was a beautiful almost 360 degree view because there is a front and back area. We didn't even realize there was additional views until we went to the bathroom and saw the other room. You can see the city and harbor. Stunning! The drinks were expensive at $25 each!!!!- but we mainly went for the view and splurged and each got a drink (which were very good and lasted us since they were strong).

This is a must do. The view is amazing! The food and cocktails are delicious. The service was great too. Don't miss this!

The view was amazing and the set up was different from anywhere I've been before but I loved it! Service was great and I didn't pay for the drinks so I can't comment on the prices. I would love to go again!

We called here (it's on the 39th? floor of the San Francisco Marriott Marquis) late afternoon and were lucky enough to get a table seat by the enormous window. The views are stunning and the atmosphere is buzzing. Service was a bit patchy and the drinks expensive but hey, it's busy and you're also paying for the view right!?

Even if not staying at the hotel, I recommend this stop to friends. Beautiful views of SF, food is decent, servers do their best in what is frequently a very crowded lounge.

Get there right at 4 to get a seat and you won't be disappointed!!! Beautiful sunset!!great atmosphere, appetizers and drinks!!!

It is true that my party of 6 was there mainly for the view. We had 5 drinks. 2 with alcohol (supposedly, but definitely not much ) and 3 sodas for $68. A tip of 18% was added at their discretion. We did not need that punishment to be sure not to go back ever again.

By staying at Marriott Marquis I had the opportunity to visit The Lounge on 39th floor. What a beautiful experience it was! The city looks fantastic from there, also you can have drinks and snack which are delicious.

Very nice place to chill with friends with an amazing view on the Soho square. The service was excellent. They really want you to have the nicest experience. And Eid is very nice guy.

The bartender was very nice and friendly. They made me a drink that I thought no one else on the west coast would know how to make!

This is a busy busy bar, especially at the weekend so timing is everything. It seems to be a local hang out with people wanting to be seen, however all that insta moments detracts from the atmosphere of the bar. On the plus side the wine was good and the small plates very good, bar server service was ok but not as fast as downstairs in the craft bar. This may have more the do with the crowd working out if their hair looked ok with a specific cocktail rather than the staff😀 I wouldn’t want to go for an evening as the vibe wasn’t there but it’s absolutely worth a couple of cocktails when your out and about

Maybe it’s because I lived in London but I couldn’t understand what the fuss is about. The views are not all that and we paid over $30 for a G&T and a beer.

The view and atmosphere were great. The lounge allows views from multiple angles and it is worth the trip!

Holy Cow the drinks are overpriced, but you should be there for the view, which, when the weather is clear, must be spectacular. It was smoky and hazy when i was there with a group tour, so I was not impressed.

Pricey, but you have to pay for the view. Cozy atmosphere. Fog often dampens view. The lounge wraps around so it has much more room that it looks.

I was really looking forward to spending the evening here but when we arrived it was almost impossible to find a seat, eventually we ended up joining another couple on a four seater table. From what we could see, the views were stunning. The bar was was completely packed. The atmosphere was buzzing with what I assume was Christmas parties. Originally we had planned to have a few drinks and hot plates but was unable to reach the bar or order drinks from the table so left. If we were to revisit, we would try earlier in the day or would book a table.

The views on the 39th floor are amazing. Sunset or after dark, you get to see it all. The cocktails are strong and the desserts looked amazing. Its a great place to relax and have a meeting or a romantic evening.

Great place to unwind or hang out with friends while overlooking the City. I would recommend getting here early if you want a good view; we got here 30 minutes after opening and all the good tables were taken.

This location opens up @ 4:00, people line up at the elevator and it is a race for the tables with window views, so be early, it is worth it. Our food came to the table a good 15 minutes prior to our drink orders, again they are very busy. Our appetizers where good, as where our drinks, nothing exceptional....but the view is worth your time.

Lots of seating and great service. We had some fog outside, but still was a beautiful view. Great thing to do to end your day!!

Stayed at this hotel and on the 39th floor there was this lounge. Great appetizers and drinks and great views day or night.

I went on a Friday evening and it was crowded. My friends and I managed to get seats but not by the window. It shows a great 360 view of the city.

Maybe we were a bit too old for this place (early 60s), but it was too loud and too crowded. It is on the 39th floor, but there really weren't any good views that we saw. The drinks were good and the service was good. It's better suited to a younger crowd.

Place is wonderful to see the view of the city, and they have what looked to be delicious appetizers. We only had drinks because we were going to have dinner elsewhere. We arrived at 4:30pm, they opened at 4:00. There was a long line of people looking for seats (you seat yourself). They don’t take reservations which they should, because everyone kept hovering over each other for the next available table. So much so that is was uncomfortable and we felt rushed by everyone looking for a seat. Spectators practically going over you for a picture while you’re trying to enjoy the view yourself. Overall we enjoyed the sunset, we only had to wait 20 minutes for a seat, but it was ridiculously crowded. Go at your own risk. View definitely worth it, if you’re not from a big city.

The View has unbeatable views of the city, and has quite good food/drinks. Service is great, but be aware that the place is basically standing room only from open to close every day - be prepared for a wait, but it's worth it!

Definitely offers an awesome view of The City! Not many better spots for a high view, 39th floor. Try to secure a window seat although they are all good. Good selection of wines by the glass.

Stayed here at the Marriott for 3 nights saving our last night on Wednesday to close out our visit from Toronto at the View Lounge. TA post here states they’re open until midnight so when we headed up at 10PM the elevator would not go there. Concierge told us they closed at 9:30pm…..not a good way to end our trip over the Christmas Holidays.

this place is so nice for everybody especially for lovers ... you can see the City in 360 degrees ... the staff are friendly ... you have to be there early to get a seat ... it’s packed especially during week ends ... this is a magnet for millennials as well ... three 👍s up ...

Our visit to the lounge was ok but nothing spectacular. Unfortunately there was fog the night we were up there and we could not see anything. We had very slow service and the wine ordered by our guests tasted like it was old or had been open for too long. This was a disappointing first impression of the hotel as one would think the wine would be good when in California. We did complain about it and they offered to bring another one which unfortunately had the same taste. We had to search out our waiter to get our check.

Great view but very crowded at 10 PM. Like everything in California the drinks at the view lounge were very expensive!

Spectacular views on either side of the bar. Plenty of seats with good price drinks. Was a highlight of our stay in San Francisco

Visited the view lounge SF from the UK on the 10th of May. As soon as we got there we were told to find a seat and someone would be with us. After 30 minutes of waiting we finally got served. The waitress was insistent that a card needed to be put down prior to ordering any food to “open a tab”. We’ve never heard of this but as she was so insistent and told us that it was just to “hold our money” until the final bill was sorted as we wanted to pay in cash. The waitress took my card and straight away I had a notification that the whole amount in my bank account was taken out. When she came back we told her that my money had been taken, she again was adamant that it would go back onto my card as soon as we closed our bill in cash. So we ordered food to share and a drink each, asked for the bill and paid in cash and leaving a really generous tip considering. We got in the lift and then I realised that I still hadn’t been refunded my money. We spent 30 minutes going up and down in the lift trying to get back to the rooftop bar but as it was after 10:30pm they don’t allow the lifts back up. We went to reception who then said that the waitress gave us the wrong information and that the refund would take time to go back onto my card. We tried explaining that they’d actually taken ALL of my money that was in my account for my holiday. Again the receptionist was NO help and said these things take time (like all banks and cards etc) and we should have the refund 5-7 working days. It’s been nearly 2 weeks since our visit to the view lounge in SF /- I’ve currently returned to the UK still with NO refund! I’ve contacted both the view lounge via social media and the Marriott hotel who have also read my messages but NOT had the professionalism to reply to me! I’ve now opened a case with my bank as this is daylight robbery making you hand over your card and NOT giving a refund even though you pay in cash. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE AS THE HASSLE ISNT WORTH IT UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO WASTE ON THIN-AIR!

Went to a meet and greet here. It was packed. Good service a little pricey but would definitely go back if were in the area.

Lovely spot for taking in the city panorama and night lights. Especially nice at sunset. You can get a drink as well as a little bite from their small plates menu.

This was a beautiful experience and they accepted well behaved children. We watched the sunset, sipping cocktails and enjoying the ambience. To be honest, I wish we stopped at this hotel because it was a bit safer than the Westin St Francis. SAN Fran can feel a little lawless at times. It was a little busy towards 9pm and we took our queue to exit with the kids at this point.

Wow. Great place with great staff.... you have to be lucky to get a window seat (luckily we got one after being there for about 10min) The food was really nice and fairly priced for the location your at. Would definitely recommend

After hearing from dang near everyone I spoke with that I simply MUST visit this place, I found time at the end of a conference last month to check it out. It was 7:30 on a Thursday evening, but the place was already pretty busy. I stopped at the bar, got good service as well as a bourbon, and wandered around until I found my friends. Nice comfortable seating in front of the iconic window offering a tremendous vies of SF. Yes, it was noisy--what popular bar isn't? We had table service that checked up on us regularly, but I did not order any food so can't comment on that. Give it a try--what have you go to lose?

It gets crowed after 6pm , service is great, a lot on the menu to choose from with meals. not to big of size but perfect view of San Francisco to mingle have a good time.

We enjoyed a sponsored event there with a DJ. The view was great for about 15 minutes and then by 6:30pm we couldn't see anything with the fog rolling in. Nice atmosphere with lots of seating but no food available so we didn't end up staying long. Overall, I'd definitely go again during the day to enjoy the views and network.

One of the coolest things about the place, and it was closed both nights. Very disappointing and poorly communicated, many people were riding the elevator to go up to the View only to be told, "sorry, we are closed."

Lovely views, slightly pricey and can get very busy but worth a look. Best to get up early if you want to secure a seat.

Rather iconic place to go for a drink.... if you can get a seat. As all popular places don't expect royal treatment or god price/performance... This is the place for skyline lovers... to take a breath

The place is nice and the view is awesome! We just have a beer with a brunch during the evening and the atmosphere was nice.

I'm very disappointed with The View at Marriot in San Francisco. I was in the door of The View with my boyfriend at 11:15pm of July 20th, 2019, Saturday night, and suffered a discrimination because I got in with my Brazilian ID. The guy in the door let me get in, said next time I should show my passport (wondering if there is a law that requires passport - I'm staying in SF for one month already and all places I've been - since my first visit in 2014! - accepted my ID) and then the same guy was "angry" because I didn't say "sorry" or give him a big smile, and asked to me get out, immediately. Very offensive!!! Very compelling!! I would like to have a feedback about this issue from the manager of The View. Looking forward to hearing from your manager soon.

Just like the name suggests - come here for the view! We were looking for a place to end the night in the city on a random weekday (we were on vacation), and though the streets were pretty empty this place definitely had an atmosphere. Didn't try much food, but what we did try was pretty average. Nonetheless is was perfect for us - drinks were good and the space and ambience are definitely worth giving this place a try.

Just beautiful inside as well. The food was nice as well as the drinks. But the view is the star. Don't miss it if you have a chance.

Stayed at the Marriott and went to The View twice during my stay. The first time, we could only get a table off to the side where you couldn't see the view but the second time, we got prime real estate right at the window and it was SO cool! Both times, the bar was super busy so it would be cool if the Marriott expanded it and added more windows. The old fashioned cocktails are fantastic and the food is also excellent!

The drinks were great, service was mediocre but it was expected since it was a Friday night and the place was packed. But you cannottt beat that view. Utterly gorgeous and you don't have to stay at the Marriott if you don't want to.

No doubt the View is a fine place for drinks and talks. The View of the premises is really nice, although you may see only buildings depending on where you seat or TRY to seat. That's exactly what happens, you TRY to seat. Even the guests of Marriot have to struggle to get a table or a seat at the bar or even a little corner to stand up. Perhaps after midnight, when no one is awake, you may get a place to have a drink at The View. Or, if practice MMA, you may look hard and sad to someone and get a small corner somewhere. I was lucky standing for 40 minutes close to a table of morons who left after arguing long of their check. It is worthy going if you are lucky!

We visited on our recent trip to the city for a couple of drinks. We arrived when it opened at 16:30 and got a great table with a view. It got busy quickly and had a great atmosphere. Cocktails were lovely and service was brilliant! Brenda was fabulous and looked after us, thanks.

Have had several people ask me if was an eating establishment - it has snacks but no food. Excellent view.

Enjoy a cocktail with the fabulous views from this mostly glass enclosed 39th floor the small plates menu offers tasty choices as well. Not to miss!

Every bit as good as the photos suggest - a great way to finish your night in San Francisco! Make sure you go when the sun is setting so that you can enjoy the views even more. Drinks prices aren't as bad as you'd think either, we had a couple of drinks in here before we went out for food (although the food did look and smell good so probably worth a try!) Lots of seating make sure you go out towards the back of the place too as there is more window seating around there.

Stopped in for a drink on an April night to take in the beautiful views. The best seats were taken so we settled in on a room with a small window. Prices were high but service was good. Did not order any food. Pretty good atmosphere but it was loud.

This restaurant is beautiful. It’s not the friendliest service, but I didn’t find San Fran to be the most hospitable city in general. The view from The View doesn’t disappoint in the romantic lounge type atmosphere. Business casual attire. This is the type of place I would start my night out at. We didn’t have any food, just drinks. However, the service didn’t incline me to want to pursue a future dining experience. Definitely a spot to hit (they close early) before heading out for a night on the town.

We stayed at the Marriott Marquis and decided to try the View Lounge at the top of the hotel. We went on a Wednesday night and the place was crowded but we were able to wait and get a table. The night time views of San Francisco were beautiful. The drinks were very generous pours and the desert was very good. The next evening we went back and also had a good experience.

The view (when it's not foggy) is great. Service is terrible. We did not eat here. Only drinks. Ok if you just want one drink just be prepared to wait for service as it is a popular place. By the window is hard to get

Impressive lounge at top of Marriott Marquis. Has 2 distinct seating areas that have different views of the city as well as sprawling bar to mix and mingle. There were very few patrons on Wednesday an hour before sunset allowing us to select any cocktail table next to the gigantic 3 story window. Impressive to see on a clear evening as lights turn on in city. We ordered "fog city" and old fashion(apparently know for) for appetizer we shared short ribs. We agreed the drinks did not match the ambiance simply nothing that wanted us to order another. Short ribs were very skimpy and not shareable. You are paying for ambiance and "The View" which can not be beat. Great Space on the 39th floor, Impressive a must see and do. Food and drinks were less than desired.

We were there at night. Seating is first come first serve and we managed to grab a table by the window, which really has amazing view of the city. We only ordered cocktails, no food. The cocktails were around $17 dollars, I guess you pay for the view with drinks/food instead of entrance.

The view is beautiful if you can actually see it through all the people standing around hoping for tables and just checking out the view. We shared a table and had drinks. We had a few cocktails which were well prepared, but very pricey. Overall, too crowded for our taste.

Great place to view the sunset or the lights of SFO over a few Martinis or chilled beer- great place to relax and unwind at the end of the day. Good beverage selection as well and very professional staff

This is a great hotel and some high level rooms offer this exact view, however if they are booked and you can't get one the next best thing is a bite to eat and just some time to stare into the distance! Remember this is downtown San Fran things will me much higher in price, location, location, location.

Wonderfully made and service by the bartender kevin made the view even more memorable. Had the sliders and they were delicious.i have been coming here for awhile and it always pleases me and whoever i decide to bring with me.

The best thing about this place is the 360* View of San Francisco. Drinks and Food are ok, probably just not my taste. The service was amazing, but it is really hard to find a place to sit.

We had a drink at the view lounge. However a whole glass of wine was pored over my shirt, trousers and shoes. The compensation for this was at least said minimal as we only were offered the drinks for free. My clothes on the other hand are out of service for the rest of the vacation, disappointing!

Great place to watch the sunset and have a cocktail with friends. There are plenty of cozy couches and lounge chairs with tables to catch up with friends or have a romantic night. Just be prepared to pay big prices for your drink!

Anyone who travels, knows that these places are plenty. The drinks are good, service is average but the cost is high because of your view - and this place is exactly that. Don't get me wrong, it's great and a nice way to pass time but it's not cheap. Average cocktail $24USD + tax per drink. Plenty of cheaper and better bars in SF but not many with this view.

Well, it is! I recently stayed at the Marriott Marquis, a dozen or so floors beneath this lounge. (Not a bad view, but this?!) There is a wide open view of the museums and neighborhood below and also Alcatraz, and bay. It's big, and interesting to see from the various angles. Seating is very comfortable small tables and chairs, along the panoramic vistas. Hors d'oeuvres and some sorts of food are available, but I didn't sample it (though it looked good). Worth a look for the view. Places for romantic encounters, solo contemplation, or social/business conversation, all with different views. Pleasant. Costs what you'd expect at business hotel. Friendly staff. Enjoy the view.

Had a few early drinks at the View. Prices were actually okay for a Large hotel. The bar food was also very good. The view was also very impressive!

Came here for a quick drink at sunset. It was great to see the fog and clouds rolling in and out of the city. We stayed for a couple of drinks and were able to move to a window table which is the best spot. Good range of wines and reasonably priced.

Wow! We wanted to see the city from above and this did not disappoint, it was crowded but well worth it! Service was exceptional and the ambience was fun!

Ok so we were staying here, but I did choose the hotel because of its 39th floor bar. We only arrived at 7.15 but we unpacked and hit floor 39 by 8.15. Not bad after travelling for 22hours. So, they have a DELICIOUS rose fizz Chandon which really hit the spot, always get a bottle after all we were sharing We needed just a 'little ' nibble so olives and a flatbread, which was both tasty and perfect. The servers were both helpful trying to find us a better'view' table, the couple of hours we spent here really got our San Francisco party started. And we loved the Marriott for both the View and the hotels position, both perfect.

Had a wonderful table with a view of the area. It was a beautiful evening with a full moon. They had a good selection of wine and beer and things to share at the table. All was good.

The place is very nice to spend time with friends. If you are lucky enough to get a table near the windows, the view of San Francisco is magnificent. The bar is located on the 39th floor of the Marriott Hotel. The drinks are varied and the cocktails are nice. The only downside is the fairly high price ($25 per cocktail)

The view of the city is remarkable however the unpleasant and unattentive staff made my experience less than satisfying

Wanted to check this place out for a drink with a view and what a great view. The drinks are fine and the view is really what you are paying for, it’s a great place to enjoy a bit of San Francisco from above.

We were staying at the Marriott Marquis and expecting a great evening up at the View. Thought it would be a highlight. We were disappointed. The view was better from our room and the drinks are expensive. Nothing special.

We had dinner here after a long day at a conference being held at the Marriott Marquis. It was busy. We were fortunate to get a table. Service was adequate given the fullness of the place. Wine and drink selection is very good. Also many small and large plates. We enjoyed the humus, wings, cheese/meat tray and flatbread. I recommend staying away from the duck—tough. Cost of 4 glasses of wine, a beer and 5 food items was $169. I would return.

The windows alone are a piece of art and then a spectacular night view! Its busy so be prepared to work to grab a table. Ended the night here with a cocktail and so glad we did!

The view is touching and beautiful. Good drinks, best to get up early if you want to secure a seat. Top !

This is on the 39th floor of the Marriott hotel with a nice view of San Francisco Bay. The staff were nice and the drinks were good (if a bit pricey). There was a labor dispute ongoing so the bar service was curtailed and there was no food available (not even nuts or pretzels). Seemed rather odd that they couldn't buy some simple munchies to have out.

Lovely views and decor ,always busy really hard to get a window seat . Snacks looked great and a good choice of drinks available. Waitress service

We attempted to go twice. Standing room only. It's open to the public so EVERYONE in the city must go there. Ridiculous. Guests at the hotel can't even get in. If you want a drink be prepared to wait forever.

We decided to visit the view lounge a school we were staying at the hotel. The elevators do not let you go to the39th floor prior to 4pm. But when it hits 4, there's is a scramble for the top. We got in and got a table with the kids, but immediately an older couple kept 'hovering around us' and asking if we were leaving after we took photos. The woman even went as far as saying she didn't think kids could come in! This put as right off and we left!

We took pictures. We didn't stay long. It was nice though. It's a really good spot for social drinkers. The staff are really nice.

Awesome views, great drinks, not too expensive and FUN! Go early for the best places to sit. Good appetizers and great service.

Had been so looking forward to my visit to the View Lounge but was disappointed by the temperature, the lighting and the service. Expensive tiny plate of hummus with a waitress who was put out to bring us a candle while we sat in a dark corner. Totally missed the mark

We visited on a Saturday night and the place was hopping. Somehow we managed to snag a standing table. My vodka-pineapple was a good balance of alcohol and juice. The two bottles of wine we tried were good, too. Not sure of the prices, as I didn't pay, but it's a swanky joint. I'm sure we paid for the view from the 39th floor, but it's worth it! The men of our party got the drinks from the bar, but there were servers circulating. Don't forget your ID; there is a cop posted at the door and they will turn you away if you can't prove you're over 21. We're transplants, having moved to the Bay Area within the last six months, but it really feels like a touristy joint. It's on top of a Marriott. My local friends have never visited (their loss) and did refer to it as a touristy place. Another friend who lives nearby (also a recent transplant) says he brings all his visitors up there. All this probably proves that it's a tourist trap, but I'd say if you're visiting SF, go up there and have a drink. The food folks around us were ordering looked good, too. Five stars.

Haven't been here for a few years and it has obviously been refurbished since my last visit but the view is the same spectacular one and we enjoyed great service from all the staff . It can get pretty busy and crowded but it didn't bother us. Great time.

This is a lovely cocktail bar at the top of the Marriott Marquis offering superb views of the city. It will be busy at peak times but as a special treat it is well worth the visit. We had the Loma Prieta cocktail and a Green Flash beer for £24. There is table service but you can order at the bar.

It's the typical cocktail lounge on a high floor. As with all places like this, you do get people who have no issue standing right next to your seat with a view to see the view themself and take pictures. One cannot be upset with this as it's like that at any cocktail lounge with a view. The drinks were a tad pricey, but again it's like that at comparable venues and it is a hotel too. I probably would not go here again, but it was something to try. The wait staff was great. I was all by myself and they checked on me multiple times and never felt rushed.

Came in for drinks during fleet week so full house, but waiters worked hard and fast, Great view and nice surroundings. Not the cheapest place to be at but you should expect that.

Okay so perhaps that was misleading. But I’ve been to many in Berlin and in London and in Manchester which is my hometown. I’m sure there are some fantastic ones in places like Dubai but all I can say is this one is fantastic. It’s like drinking in a bar in Gotham City. Looking out over the bay area is amazing. Try and time it as the Sun is going down. Only downside was there was a lot of conferences there so it felt quite corporate. But it wasn’t as expensive as I thought for San Francisco.

As the name does suggest, the view from this place is truly spectacular. Ambiance was also great. My cocktail, however, was very much below expectations. I had the “Señorita Margarita” and, although it was very pretty, it didn’t taste as good as it looked. But what REALLY annoyed me was the service: our waitress was unbelievably slow and unpleasant, evidently acting like she was doing us a favor. Absolutely unacceptable, for when prices are as high as they are at this place, great service is a MUST. Don’t recommend.

Attended a party held in this bar. There are views of San Francisco and the Bay in all directions. The drinks were tasty and the seating was comfortable and a little different in each part of the bar.

Stopped in during a rain storm after a movie around the corner. Had no trouble getting a window seat. Delicious cocktails and appetizers. Go during the week to avoid the crowd.

What a view during the day and at night. Not a full restaurant more for appetizers and drinks. Opens at 4:00 and gets very crowed at 4:00 and rest of night. Seating next to windows fills first but you can stand at small high tables. Take a camera! Very expensive!

What fabulous bar, great staff but freezing up there. Not sure why they can't heat the place. Even the waitress told me it was always cold up there in the winter.

The view is truly the highlight of this lounge, offering breathtaking sights of the city. However, when it comes to the drinks and food, it feels a bit overpriced. While the drinks are visually appealing, paying over $30 for a cocktail seems a bit steep. I ordered the scallops, which unfortunately were not up to par—just two pieces that were quite chewy, and it's disappointing to find less-than-fresh seafood in a city like San Francisco. Next time, I would probably just stick to enjoying one drink while taking in the view rather than dining here.

They open at 4pm and have a good selection of drinks. The view is spectacular. You don't have to be a guest to get a drink and take in the view. Definitely worth a visit!

Saw the recommendations on Trip Advisor and just had to visit, and what a treat. The bar/restaurant is beautiful with both great service and food. We had a couple of cocktails which were perfect to watch the sunset with. We were told to book a table which we forgot but still managed to get great seats beside windows overlooking San Fran. Highly recommend.

A little crowded even though we were lined up to enter on opening at 4pm but it was worth it. Had a terrific window table and spectacular views of San Francisco. Service was great and the drinks were delicious. Had excellent appetizers in lieu of dinner but did not go away hungry. I would definitely recommend this place while in San Francisco as a must see.

I love rooftop bars. But this one didn't do it for me. The windows and carpet were dingy for a Hotel Rooftop. The view was nice and worth the elevator ride. After 10 minutes of waiting for a server we left. My motto, if the service is low the drinks are usually not up to par. Run up for the view then vacate the premises for a better experience.

Our first time in this location, we started our evening here with a gorgeous sunset overlooking San Francisco. Delicious cheese board and cocktails. A little crowded but very popular with locals. Highly recommended.

If you are staying at the Marriott it is worth going up to see this breathtaking view! Even if you don’t stay for a drink-walk thru to see the city!

This place has amazing views...if you can get near one of the windows. It's a pretty small area that seems to be packed all the time. The windows are lined with small tables. So if you can't get one of those seats, you'd have to awkwardly stand next to the people at those tables to get a good view. Otherwise, the bar and the interior sections of the room are nothing special. If you've never been here, I'd say definitely go check it out. The cocktails are pricey and very average in taste. So if you decide to go, keep in mind that you're only going for the view. :)

Had the chance to attend a private event at the view lounge, everything was great, they created a cocktail and the dj was fabulous. Will go back for sure the view is simply spectacular.

What a great views in there, you can see a lot different places from up there - its floor 39! Drinks are around 12-15 Dollars but to enter there its free, I definitely think its worth it each $. Can be crowded from around 7pm and especially on weekends!

Kids ok here, great view and lounge, small so show up early or late. Overpriced of course, but a great place to unwind at sunset.

Wonderful views of the city and a trendy environment. It was very busy in the evening. Drinks were good but be prepared to pay $$ for drinks/food

This bar had an amazing view. It was smaller than I expected so expect crowds. There were several nice sitting areas to engage in conversation.

We finished our tour of SFMoMA and quickly made our way to the Marriott Marquis on Mission Street and made our way directly to the lifts to get to the 'View Lounge' on the 39th floor. Please note that the lifts will not go up to the 39th floor until 4pm when the View Lounge opens, so make sure you're around the lifts just before 4pm so that you are in the first elevator to reach the 39th floor. We were one of the first and immediately (and quickly) went over to the window table in the right hand corner, which offers the best views of the Bay. All of tables with window views were filled before 4.05pm. We originally intended on only staying for a couple of cocktails, a Highrise Pom Cosmo and a Pacific Height Gimlet, both of which were great, but then ended up ordering some food - a cheese and charcuterie plate along with a bottle of Smoke Tree Pinot Noir from Sonoma. Both the food and wine were great, so much so that we ended up staying for nearly 4 hours enjoying the views and the company of another couple who asked to share our table who were also visiting San Francisco so it was good to share recommendations of what to see and where to go, as well as a couple more bottles of Smoke Tree (between the four of us).

If you like having your drinks with an amazing city view "The View" is a place for you. The place is perfect for an after-work affair if you are going out with your bosses, Date nights or for catching up with friends. I love their skyline punch with the cheese bread! My go-to options!

Service is good. Cocktail choices are ok (a bit expensive, $15 min), food is so San Francisco (fresh produce), and the view is spectacular. If you're staying at the Marriott or nearby hotel you definitely should visit at least once.

Visited for drinks and snacks. Due to the strike, no snacks. I guess I was lucky to get drinks. The staff was pleasant. The drinks were over-priced which is a Marriott signature move. That being said the vibe was good. Despite a full house, the bar closed early and we were all sent elsewhere for a Saturday night of fun. I hope the labor dispute ends quickly.

This bar is breathtaking! A must for San Francisco in my opinion. The food and drinks are also so good.

If you're staying here, it's not to be missed. If you're not staying here, it's worth a visit in the evening for a drink. Lots of room for a large group as well as if you're looking for some privacy. Don't miss it.

This is up there with my favourite thing we did while in SF. The views are insane! The drinks are average and overpriced but you are paying for the view which in my opinion is WELL worth it. It opens at 4pm- My advice is get here early, especially on the weekend. We arrived at 4.20 on a Saturday and even after an hour of waiting couldn’t get a seat in the main viewing area. So we returned at just before 4 the following week and got the best seat. The staff were friendly and did not push us to rush our drinks/ buy more. I would also stick with beer/ wine as cocktails really average for the high price.

Went here for my birthday with my boyfriend and another couple. This was our first time at The View for all of us, and we loved it!! The view is just amazing, the windows and just the decor is perfect! It was a clear beautiful night and you could see forever. We went early when they opened before we went out to dinner and to a comedy show, then we went back here after we were done for a few drinks before the end of the night. I had a few blackberry bays which were so good!! everybody really nice. The bar does get crowded and can be hard to find a seat, so you have to just keep looking, we always found one after a few laps around.

Poor service and over priced. In fact pathetic service when we were there and I would not recommend this venue to anyone

We stayed at the hotel and decided to pop up to the lounge to see the view and for some cocktails. It was busy! We split up and hovered for a table. We couldn’t get a table with a view, the service wasn’t the best and cocktails - I have certainly had better for less. You pay for the views even if you can’t see them from where you are sitting (we felt more like we were in a cave). While good for what it was, I wouldn’t hurry back.

It is a destination place for those in the city, so it can get busy during happy hour and weekend nights. The view in the pictures is not an exaggeration. Go early, have a coffee or cocktail and enjoy!

A beautiful space with lots of seating and two distinct views of San Francisco--the city view and the mountain view. I enjoyed a late evening stop after finishing a work project and a happy hour stop before leaving for the airport. All ages enjoy the space.

Visit this fun place as recommended by front desk. The view lounge is located at the 39th floor of San Francisco Marriott Marquis Hotel. Upon entering, they look for your hotel key. The view from this lounge is so beautiful and it was full packed on this Saturday. Manage to take some picture. It serves food and drink with a fantastic view.

A local recommended this rooftop to us to watch the sunset and wow were they right! Such incredible views of downtown with beautiful cocktails and amazing appetizers. A little bit spendy but worth the price for the view and atmosphere.

The view is amazing...seating is plenty as long as you arrive early in the evening. Felt like having dessert and the cheese cake did not disappoint.

Sure the view was great - but we went 4 times to try and get a seat before we were successful. So many people. The last time we went we were just super lucky to get a small table in the corner. Try to get there at opening time to get a good spot.

Really lovely location with wonderful views, but all the really great tables were taken when we got there. Nice wine and cocktail selection and the staff was quick and friendly. We had a mishap with our appetizer, but it was quickly replaced and taken off the bill. I want to go back for one if the really scenic tables. A beautiful view but you pay for it!

This place had amazing views. If you do not get there at 4 when they open good luck finding a seat. It is the trendy place to be having a cocktail with friends.

The view from this bar at the 40th (?) floor of the hotel is really fantastic. Noise is high, drinks are not cheap, but if you manage to find a seat next to a window, you will not forget easily the experience ; if you can, get here with your girl/boyfriend to complete the scenery!

Lots of sections to find a quite (relatively) area to chat with a beverage and appetizers with great service.

This lounge with a fabulous view through Deco windows was very crowded on a Friday evening. Several colleagues and I stopped here for snacks and drinks. The flatbreads and tomato/buratta sandwich were delicious. Service was slow, but likely due to the size of the crowd. I’d like to come here at a quieter time.

Great spot with Great views! GET THERE WHEN THEY OPEN to get a good table. Only thing they need is MORE Bar staff!

It opens at 4p and maybe that's the key to getting a seat! Service was super friendly but super slow.

Had a nice mixeddrink and some homemade nuts; both were good; wish the place had more options for food.

Just stopped in for a look at the view and a couple of glasses of wine. Pinot by the glass on a budget $15 a glass. Best view in the the City though and worth a stop

Okay, so you are at the top of the Marriott Marquis here and if you don't hit it just right you will not get a table by a window which is the whole point of paying $24 for one drink and $14 for a small bowl of nuts. Yes, the views are definitely fantastic, and if you are looking for a one and done drink with some great photo's (albeit through some windows that could use some clean up) then this is your place. We were lucky and there were some open window tables, and we were on a girls trip so willing to pay the premium for the 'experience'. The service was solid, drinks were decent and the views were outstanding. Try and go before sunset.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights (Thursday night to Monday morning). The bar opens at 4pm. It is always packed. We didn't ever check late (after 10pm), because we just wanted to get a drink before dinner and try to catch the sunset. We finally got in on Sunday night right after it opened and got to watch our sunset. There is a great view of the sunset on one side of the bar. I did get rather warm, because the sun comes straight through onto you, even though the windows are tinted. Not terrible, though. Sipping a cool drink helped. Seating wraps around the whole top floor, but the bar is only on one side. They will take your drink order at your table (if you can find one). Most seating is 2 people, since the area is narrow. There are a couple that can handle more people like 6 or 10-12. There is a kind of hidden table that might be overlooked from time to time. It's on the west side. Exit the elevators, head west, and it's tucked in the southernmost corner almost hidden by a column. Drinks are expensive, as you would expect. They made a good mojito and moscow mule.

Eat, drink, be merry and enjoy the incredible view. wow wow wow wow. Even if you don't stay at the hotel stop by, you won't be disappointed.

Went to the View Lounge for a few cocktails. Arrived about 6 PM when it was still light outside and the view of the city from the main room was nothing less than spectacular. The bar did get crowded and loud later in the evening.

Visiting this lounge was the best thing that happened while we stayed in Marriott Marquis. The views were spectacular. Even the host was very friendly. Must visit while in SFO.

I went around 4:30 pm, it was packed and people walk in circles trying to find a seat. It does have a great view, but not sure if it is worth it if you can't find a place to site.

Pricey drinks are worth it because you can’t beat the panoramic views! Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Knowledgeable wait staff!

This View Lounge provided an amazing view of the city on a clear day. It was quite welcome after many days of rain.

The view from the lounge is stunning!! If you want one of the few window seats, arrive at The View Lounge when it opens the doors at 4pm (not a second later) and run (don't walk) to a window seat. Window seats have comfortable lounge-type cocktail seating. The appetizer menu was special and food was excellent. Good selection wine menu. Did I mention the view? AWESOME views of the City and Bay!!

This is a memorable lounge not for the service, drinks or food but really just for the view. The windows are big and dramatically emphasize the expanse of landscape you see from it. Service was slow and tired. Drinks were good and expensive (it's a hotel bar after all). Place was packed on a Monday night so be prepared to wait. Come here even just for the view!

The atmosphere Is quite nice. Enjoyed the chocolate torte with a few raspberries. Cocktails were about $17 a piece and beers $8. However, for one drink and nice conversation it was a nice activity. It opens at 4 pm.

I am in San Francisco for business and decided to go with some colleagues to The View for few drinks. Really magnificent view of the city, 360 degrees of San Francisco. Try to get there for sunset if you can. Really really busy place, it took 15 minutes to be served but well worth the wait. Drinks are not cheap here, 9$ for a beer, but you would expect it here. Plenty tables to sit and lovely lively crowd, big conferences going on in here today. Strongly recommended.

Topmost level on Marriott Marquee, The View gives you really good views of the San Fran, if it's a clear sky then views of the city around sunset or in the night are spectacular. Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge views are truly amazing. They have good collection of high end liquor and their cocktails can pack a punch! No reservations needed, walk in and grab any table! SF is truly beautiful in the night! Don't let the city die!

Great place to have a good view over the city. We enjoyed the sunset with cold drinks and good music. It was very full so its makes for sure sense to have a reservation.

Some day, I will have been to all of the rooftop bars in my adopted city. Here's one more. Stopped in after the movies - a Saturday during fleet week, so it was crowded. The views are as advertised, the service is friendly and they make a decent martini. The vibe is a little downmarket as compared to, say, Top of the Mark.
Great Vioew of San Francisco City and friendly staff
Went for a light fare at The View Lounge while staying at the hotel and found a table for us to sit. Very friendly staff came by and told us there's a much better view of the city by the window and took us there. It was a perfect nook in the corner by the big circular window and we had a great view of the city. Top notch service.
