If you want a grown-up hamburger experience, the Vortex may be the right place for you. It's a small place with decent parking, fairly easy to find. The fun starts when you park and you notice the sign threatening to tow your vehicle if you are not a Vortex customer. Mental note to register when you walk in-- but it turns out, no one cares. The place itself is filled with all sorts of bric a brac and there is a busy bar with the requisite collection of barflys on one side of the place. You can sit there, or at any one of the tables that fill the rest of the floorspace. Burgers are the main thing here, and there ate plenty to choose from, along with other good pub dishes. I ordered the blue cheese burger and it was in fact delicious. Hang on to the menu-- it's full of rules and explanations and expectations of the Vortex's clientele which you may or may not meet. In fact, the whole place is full of instructional signs. You may or may not find all this funny. we did at first and then kind of tired of the snarkyness. There is no question though that the food is terrific, and reasonably priced. It's a good place to visit, but you won't want to live there.

Had a one to spare before my trip back to UK, called here for lunch and was surprised how busy the place was for noon. service was prompt and staff friendly. Nothing light on the menu for lunch but food was good. Good selection of beers, but I went for the Guinness as the was the lowest abv available.

We went to Vortex because it looked funky so we had to check it out. Its located in a hip part of town so take time to explore the area. Vortex has a great vibe friendly staff and patrons. We stopped on for cocktails, price was moderate. This is a burger place with a lot of options. Smoking is allowed inside but it wasnt too smokey really Nevertheless I didn't want to eat while others were smoking.

Came into Atlanta and was told this was a MUST have...We weren’t disappointed. It was a little busy when we arrived so we stood at the bar and had a beer. The White Ale home brew was awesome. It reminded me of a beer I like back home. Our burgers were absolutely fantastic and the funnel cake fries and raspberry sauce were orgasmic. The staff was SUPER FRIENDLY. I can’t wait to come back! JOB WELL DONE VORTEX!

I was headed home and decided to stop by The Vortex, being new to the area I past by here often just never had the chance to stop by, glad I did today. I went with the Coronary Bypass Burger and it was made to perfection. Charred outside, pink in the middle....nice and juicy with just the right amount of toppings. I will definitely be back at the Vortex.

This restaurant is a retro-cultural experience. It is located in hipster heaven on a busy street in the Little Five Points neighbourhood of Atlanta. The main entrance, a huge white skull with red vortex eyeballs, warns that you are entering a cultural time-warp. The interior is dark, crowded with diners, with walls decorated with mid-century photos and magazine articles, and a motorcycle suspended from the ceiling. Service is quick and friendly. The menu is dominated by burgers, with specialty ingredients, such as fried onions, mushrooms, tomato, fried eggs, BBQ sauce, cheese, etc in a variety of combinations. There is a choice of sides. All the burgers we sampled were excellent, and very large and juicy. You will need extra napkins! I highly recommend the tomato soup, which is made with cream. We were unable to finish all our food so desserts were out of the question. Not fine dining but definitely a memorable dining experience.

Went to this location as we had never been before. The Vortex on Peachtree is closer. Sat within 10 minutes. Angela was our waitress, and she was just fantastic. Fast, and friendly...The hamburgers were out of this world as I knew they would be. Only thing that will stop me from going back to this location is they allow smoking at the bar. This place is small, and we could smell the stench from our table. It only takes one person smoking to stink up the entire place. Other than that, all was good.

Two great burgers! Their burgers are a huge 8 oz, so go hungry! Lots of burgers to choose from! They make their own blue cheese and pimento cheese. Onion rings and French fries were average but burgers were definitely worth the trip!

I think I went on a bad night because it was freezing and I was freezing the whole time sitting upstairs by the door. I didn't expect this place to be so small and crowded. My husband enjoyed his burger, I dont think I will be in a hurry to go back. Good late night wat though.

I saw The Vortex on the food network a really long time ago and I’ve wanted to try it since. We’re from Michigan and were road tripping through the South and we found ourselves in Atlanta. I was SO excited to finally get to come, and I wasn’t disappointed! One of my favorite things about The Vortex is that it’s 21+... no kids allowed makes for an adult friendly, laid back environment, and makes any meal more enjoyable. They have a unique menu was fun spins on traditional bar food. Lots of awesome sandwiches and burgers. I got the four horsemen burger and it was so good. They also have a huge beer menu. The atmosphere is fun and the staff was friendly. Definitely a fun place to check out. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in Atlanta.

Haven’t been here in years, but still the best burger, by far, in Atlanta. Perfectly cooked, simple toppings for a basic burger, or you can select from a wide variety of specialty burgers. Whichever you choose, you surely won’t leave disappointed or hungry. It’s a very popular, yet pretty small place. Really more bar than restaurant. Don’t let that deter you. Burgers are full of fantastic flavor. Next time it won’t be so long until I visit again.

The food was great and came very quickly. The server we had was friendly and able to answer any questions we had. We had no problems with the food or service. I like that they check IDs at the door to discourage underage drinking. The weather was perfect outside and we were seated upstairs on the deck outside. We will be returning on our next visit to Atlanta.

This place is a must eat. The food and service was amazing. It was the best burger we ate in a long time.. waiting to come back.

Came here to experience what I understand to be the best burger in ATL. Interesting decor and everyone is carded coming it. They do not pretend to not be a bar. The menu was simple. Burgers are the feature and that it what we ordered. Got basic cheeseburger and guacamole burger. They were juicy, large and prepared perfectly! Amazing!! Got tater tots with them. Just perfect!

Words can’t describe the experience. You just gotta visit the place. The sheer number of choice of burgers makes the decisions almost difficult because you want to try them all. We ordered several different ones and we all sampled 5 different burgers. We honestly could not reach a consensus on which one we liked best. Each was great. We had a little wait but we had a party of five and it was kinda busy. The service was ‘as advertised’. Be prepared to place your order and let the server move on. Time is money. The server was actually nice and attentive. Next trip to Atlanta I’m stopping in solo and going to enjoy the atmosphere more.

We went in as a group of 10. We waited for a table and then when we were seated the waitress asked if we were one check or split up. We let her know we were separate, sitting next to each other (2x2, etc.) We all ordered. At one point before the food came I asked the waitress to bring me a drink from their list of specials. The food came out and it took a few trips because there was 10 of us. My husband and I suddenly realized we did not receive our food. We were told that it would be right out. Then we were told it would be 10-15 minutes because they forgot our order. We finally did get our order out to us. They did not cook my burger to my liking but at that point I was so hungry, I ate it. The food was good (hence the 3 rating and not lower). No, I never did get that drink special but I was not charged for it either. We hardly saw our waitress. Only saw her to take our orders, deliver the food and bring the checks. Due to the size of our party, a gratuity was already added. Nobody at our table tipped more, due to the lower than satisfactory service. No, I will not go back the next time I am in town.

Nicely done! Staff (Nicole), atmosphere and food-All Excellent! Wings are very good, hot and fresh! All burgers cooked to perfection. If you're in the area, check this place out.

Son jyst turned 21 and they did not even id him They sat us upstairs. Food was okay but nothing to write home about It was lunch time and pretty sliw business.

Best damn burger in Atlanta. Paired with some great Atlanta Craft Beers it was the perfect meal while taking in Breweries & Atlanta Culture.

Fantastic burgers and a truly unique spot — ain’t no other place like it! Fun, punk rock eclectic vibe inside, but don’t let the vibe fool you — the burgers are EXCELLENT!

After so many enthusiastic reviews, we were looking forward to dine in this restaurant. It’s conveniently located outside downtown Atlanta, away from traffic and expensive parking tariff. It has plenty of parking in the back, although not it the nearest city area, shared with a liquor store. The restaurant outlook, both outside and inside, is very peculiar, decorated with skulls, car plates and other goth/motorcycle style paraphernalia. First of all, they had an electricity issue when we arrived. probably they said, but we did not catch it as we’re non-native speakers… anyway, after we were seated, we found out that the kitchen was not running, due to this electricity issue. We were just about to leave (even though we had already ordered beer) when everything restarted so we were able to order. I just would have preferred not to be admitted at all, we were lucky that electricity restarted but could have just as well have had to leave. Burger selection is wide, and all at a reasonable price. The double/triple bypass burgers are not available every day of the week, so do check it out if that’s what you're interested in. Both my husband and I had standard cheeseburgers as we wanted to truly appreciate the quality of the meat. Mine had a generous portion of pimento cheese and had to be eaten with fork and knife as it was so big. I also appreciated that they ask and respect instructions as to the cooking of the meat. All in all it was a good burger, but, as they prize themselves as serving “the best burgers ever”, I did expect something more than a good burger. Fries were ordinary. prices are very good, our dinner only cost us around 30$

Great place so much to look at hanging off the walls and ceiling food was massive portions really good cocktail

A Vortex experience is always a good one...and that's the problem here. At this location in L5P, it was just good. Food was great as usual, the tater tots and the coleslaw being as amazing as they could be, the Texas burger being really tasty...it's just that I feel like when it comes down to cleanliness and staff professionalism, their other location on Peachtree set the bar really high. I got a feeling of jadedness coming from the waiters, and a bit too much dust around for my own liking. I'll totally go back there, don't get me wrong. I just wish that the standards at this location would be raised a bit more.

Are you ready for the Best Burger in Atlanta, Georgia? For exciting atmosphere and a Great Burger visit Little Five Points and the Vortex. RECOMMENDATION: The Cheeseburger w/Bacon accompompanied by golden Tater Tots & Cold beverage!

You can always count on the Vortex for good service and consistently good food like burgers and fries. This visit was lunch with about 40 friends. Service was good and the food was delivered quickly.

Finally got to the Vortex after hearing about the burgers for years. It was delicious! Although I stuck with the Classic burger and tater tots, other choices were the Fat Elvis with peanut butter and fried plantains and Hell’s Fury with atomic sauce, haberno relish, and jalapeños. My burger was fabulous and the food came out quickly!

It's never fun when you're not really greeted at the door but the guy behind the bar says I have a seat anywhere especially when it's your first time you didn't know that there was a upstairs area that was nicely a seed that was considered their deck but we found a little table inside and posted up for lunch service wasn't that great but the food was phenomenal it visually was mind-blowing and the bloody mary was the best. Nachos were massive (dig to the bottom for the yummy cheese) and you can't go wrong with any burger

Went to this place and love it! I ordered the borracho nachos and they were delicious, the staff working here is very professional and friendly also the atmosphere is great and according to prices is mid-range. I recommend it

Just to be clear this is a bar and no one under 21 is allowed in. Smoking is allowed. Much of the interior decor is vulgar. But there are many interesting things to see on the walls and rafters as well. There is a BMW motorcycle hanging from the ceiling. Transportation signage is a part of the decor as well. The service was amazing even during the busy lunch hour. The portions are large. If you want to eat lighter, you can share an entree. There are many burger choices, chili, and appetizers and desserts. They offer great sides too, such as fried plantains, coleslaw, potato salad, French fries, etc. We shared the mushroom Swiss burger and ordered it done medium. It was absolutely perfect and delicious. We ordered the fried plantains, which were so tasty that I don’t think I’ve ever tasted better.

We decided to go to this one instead of the other one because of parking. There was no charge for parking, but we arrived right when they opened. There was a guy charging for parking when we got done with lunch for the other parking spaces for the other shopping center next door. This was our first time. You sit wherever you want to. The place was clean and Ashley was wonderful. She took great care of us. I ordered the Blue shroom and tator tots. Super yummy. My wife ordered the four horsemen which she said was good. The loaded potatoe salad was not good to me. My wife said it was okay but rich. Then we ordered the funnel cake fries. Oh man so good. I licked the cup of berry sauce that you dip the fries into. This was a good meal.

Three of us stopped in there for a burger. First we ordered fried Zucchini which was delicious. One of us ordered a burger with tater tots. He said it was good and the tater tots were homemade, crispy and tasty. One person had the Rueben sandwich, which she said was average. I ordered chicken wings cooked extra crispy. They were awful! They were so tough, I couldn't eat them. Also, they had an old chicken, strong flavor. I told the waiter that I could not eat them. He was very nice, but said he could not return them, he would need to get his manager. When she came to our table, she explained that asking for them to be extra crispy made them ineligible for return. I said that I always order them everywhere I go, extra crispy and had never had this problem before. She repeated her statement, I repeated mine, and she finally conceded and said she would make an exception and remove them from our check, to which I replied "thank you". Then, to top it off, as we were waiting for the our check, a different waiter came right behind us to ring up his order. He lifted his arm, and we all jumped up to get away from the horrible body odor. We laughed as we cleared the area quickly. The other lady and I went to the restroom, where we encountered a huge roach. He was right by the door and we were afraid to pass him for fear he would run up our leg. These things, including the charge of $30 to park across the street, made for a very unhappy experience. I will never visit that establishment again.

The food is delicious. The service is great. The menu and the house rules are hilarious. You can't go wrong with this place!

This place is like no other. The decor is so unique and the staff is so friendly. The unique doesn’t stop at the decor, the burgers are crazy! Get out of your comfort zone and try a unique burger and enjoy.

Great place to grab crazy burger like you have never had before. The selection of burgers is vast and not boring by any means. Good beer selection on site, but as everybody else raves, the burgers are something else!

Awesome burger and great service! Topped off with the perfect desert of fried funnel cake fries. Highly recommended

Having moved to Atlanta, I am in the middle for exploring different local restaurants. Saw this one recommended on Food Network years ago and decided to go. In all honesty, I was concerned that the hype was too good to be true. I stand corrected. The restaurant was unique in its menu items and decor. In all honesty it’s hard to miss when you have a giant skull as your entry way. A definite must try in the Atlanta area and worth the wait. One note that they heavily advertise and one that I will echo, it is a 21+ restaurant.

WOW this place is not only FUN but they make one heck of a burger. I had the KA’MANA WA’NA LEI’YA A scoop of chipotle cream cheese, 3 slices of bacon and spicy pineapple jalapeño jelly on Texas toast. My husband had the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE Barbecued pulled pork, spicy honey BBQ sauce, pepper jack cheese & two eggs over-easy on Texas toast. The tater tots are crispy and oh so yummy!! Totally would recommend this place. MUST BE 21 and over to go in!!!

The Vortex is one of Atlanta's quintessential dinning experiences. Tons of burger and beer options. I absolutely love their tater tots.

I brought a friend here who was visiting from out of town. I wanted to give her an Authentic Atlanta Experience and honestly even though I have driven past dozens of times I had never eaten here. We walked in at 7:00 on Friday night and got a cozy little table by the bar. Basically The Vortex is a BAR with great food. Smoking is allowed here, so be aware of that. The whole place smells like a compilation of every awesome seedy dive bar I went to during my misspent youth. I loved it. Very nostalgic! The Vortex is famous for their burgers and they didn't disappoint. Mine was cooked perfectly and it was really good. My friend ordered a salad but lets get real....it was lettuce with all the awesome stuff you might eat on a burger like bacon and cheese and house made ranch. We also split some fried pickles. I prefer a sliced fried pickle -but these fried spears were breaded perfectly, a just a bit of spice, and a great dipping sauce. My recollection may not be that clear because we downed our share of great local beer. Our server was a blast. She endured us with enthusiasm and didn't complain when we stayed at our table a bit too long talking. We tipped her very well!

The fun-house Laughing Skull entrance-way let's you know you're in for something different. The place is wild, with an inside-joke and a bit of humorous snark spread around, and memorabilia, knick knacks, posters and kitsh everywhere. They can get crowded but seated us in about 10 minutes and the service was very good. Our waitress got us drinks quickly and our food didn't take long either. Their main food item is burgers, served in many varieties and with some toppings you might not normally expect. They even go all-in with more immense "coronary" burgers that seem perfect for a feature on Man Vs. Food (I bet they've already done it). Many say these are the best burgers in Atlanta. They are outstanding. They have a large selection of beers and are essentially a bar, so no under-21's allowed in and they do permit smoking (I don't like this at all but tolerate it [it wasn't a problem the night we went] for the burgers). Free parking is also limited (my second gripe) so we had to pay, but we had a show to go to after dinner so that worked out OK anyway. If you haven't been before, you definitely have to try it or its sister location near the Fox.

Well heard about the Vortex, so had to check it out. The burgers are huge and very good. Order the fried pickel spears, very good. The place is small and gets very busy so there could be a wait even in the middle of the day. Worth walking around the area to take in the sites.

The Vortex is a unique , 21 and older burger bar in Little Five Points. Parking is limited and they charge $5 dollars on the weekends. The burger menu is quite extensive. You can order a single patty burger for 8 bucks or get a burger for as much as 70 dollars!! That burger is almost 13000 calories and will be free if you can finish. That’s some man v. food type junk right there. I went with the avocado and bacon burger and it did not disappoint. The toppings were fresh and the beef was cooked just right. It was massive , messy and worth every penny! Give this place a try!

We made a stop in The Vortex as the must-experience for people visiting Atlanta that it is. The loud, busy atmosphere and interesting decor definitely matched what we were expecting, and we enjoyed reading the common sense quips in the House Rules section of the menu. We didn't mind waiting about 45 minutes to be seated. The burgers are good, but not OMG! good, and the rest of the food is basic bar food. Out of the staff, the bartenders were the best. They were fast, attentive and efficient. The beer was cold and well-priced. However, the host and wait staff left a lot to be desired. They all seemed like they didn't want to be there, we were not greeted at the door nor by our waitress. The extent of the communication was very little; basically three phrases: "How many in your party?" "Follow me." "What can I get for you?" We expected a friendlier staff at this fun place. I don't think we would go back in a future visit to Atlanta.

Unusual but laid back decor inside but outside skull makes a statement. Food was excellent and great value. Each of us had a burger which was cooked to perfection.

What a fun place! My husband and I went on a Friday evening and luckily didn't have to wait for a table. Not used to places that allow smoking inside anymore, but seated in the "non-smoking" section I didn't think the air quality was bad at all - assume most people who smoke would sit outside anyway? The menu is a hoot to read through and the food is really good too. Not a place for anyone easily offended. Definitely a place for people looking for excellent burgers and tater tots!

The Elvis Burger is good, in fact everything that we had was good. we will be back to this lil burger joint. We love the deco..

I had heard great things about the burgers here and they didn't disappoint. The Coronary Bypass burgers are well-known because of their size (and crazy heart-attack inducing ingredients) but the taste is actually top notch too. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly and a lot of fun to chat it up with while staring at the crazy amount of things hanging from the ceiling. Seriously, always look up, no matter where you are in the place. The drinks are a bit pricey, but really tasty, and I did take home one of the gorgeous souvenir glasses. Don't miss out on this place!

This mid town restaurant was a surprise. Great food and decorations were excellent. Service was very good and prices were less than expected. Loved everything about it!

I don't know how many people out there reading this review will fit my profile but I will be honest so you can get "context". I'm an obese 55 year old divorced women who travels alone often. This time I was with my 27 year old daughter. Upon entering I felt that the clientele was different, younger, cool, but I wanted a smoking establishment. I sat on some stairs and was asked to move. I've fallen a few times in the past two years so proceeded cautiously down the stairs. The waiter asking me to move, joked to a crowd of young people near me, "That's okay, I get paid by the hour," sarcastically implying I was moving to slow for him. They laughed at me, at his joke, and teased him about his low hourly rate. I was very embarrassed and just wanted to leave. The hostess could tell I was near tears and offered to get a manager. After a long wait where I had to sit amongst those who had laughed at me for being slow, the manager came out and didn't seem concerned, arms crossed, not smiling, no apology. Left thinking I wouldn't frequent that place again. Tried to contact the place of business but was only allowed to fill out a preplanned form. When I tried to cut and paste my review into the last box on the form, I have not yet heard back from the management. I don't know if my review was too long, but I tried to find a direct e-mail on the website and could not. I did find references to "t*ght a**es" who always think they're right, so I'm worried that they just filed my concerns in that arena and are ignoring me.

I wasn't sure what to think at first...it's a bar basically. But it was packed with a waiting time of 20 minutes at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon so that HAD to be a good sign, right? It was! The service was terrific. The food was out of this world! The prices were very good for what we got! And the menu...well you'll have to read it for yourself. It is hilarious and spot on! We truly enjoyed every bit of our lunch experience here and will definitely be coming back with friends/family!

This place has a great atmosphere and amazing food! I really enjoyed the Lone Star Texmelt. Onion rings are probably on my top 5 most favorite. Great beers and mixed drinks. Staff was a little inattentive. Extremely crowded and cramped. I don't know how you would get through if you were in a wheelchair. Overall though, good food, good music, great atmosphere.

What a place! I tried the laughing skull sampler all three were good. Buffalo chicken sandwich was also good and there other items looked great too!! Oh and smoke them if you got them!!!

Traveling with my 15 year old went here for lunch. No where does it tell you that you can’t eat here unless you are 21. So we made a trip there and couldn’t eat there. Better advertising is needed.

The Vortex is a great place for lunch. I really enjoyed my Cuban sandwich and fresh fried onion rings. The draft beers were great. The service was friendly and efficient. I will return to eat the hamburger. It was weird to eat in a place for That people can smoke.

With no official plans for New Year, my friends and I decided to stop here to bring in the New year and a good burger. There was regular seating and seating at the bar.The servers were great, very attentive and prompt. The food was very good, hot and fresh. I had the Impossible burger and my friends had a variety of other burgers. There was a solid variety of beers and mixed drinks. The deep fried cheesecake was delightful. I'm not a fan of heavy metal but the selection played during our time there was very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

This place is a no nonsense type of place. World class burgers, great beer and good service. Not for those who want to be pampered. Great for those who want to enjoy a good meal in a lively atmosphere in Atlanta.

The wait was about 26 minutes but for 2pm on a Saturday I wasn’t surprised. The drink menu is extensive and not overly expensive. The burgers are great with a few unusual combinations. Tots come in huge portions and the onion rings are in a slightly sweet batter.

This place is out of the norm, which probably makes me love it even more! Funky vibes and fun times. The food, especially the burgers, are DELICIOUS! Plus those tot potatoes....oh so good! Must be over 21, which is nice sometimes. Great staff, great food, great drinks, what more can you ask for?! I will be coming back and back and back some more!

21 and over ONLY. Everyone is complaining about not being able to bring a kid in, well, THERE IS A GIANT PENIS IN THERE. Totally caught me off guard. It's not my humor, so I found it very stupid. There's dead spiders in shadow boxes on the wall. Smoking is ALLOWED. That's what I really wish I had known BEFORE I went in. The smell makes me sick. The burgers were pretty good. I had the Steakhouse Burger, it was okay. My husband had the Fat Elvis and he loved it. The Mac and cheese appetizer was really good. Don't go on a game day. NFL fans were loud and annoying and the game wasn't even on.

Hip, cool, trendy burger place in the five corners area. Burger was really good. Sat outside, but the inside area was cool and trendy. Five corners area has cool resale shops.

My boyfriend and I went for lunch and everything was good. The speed of service, the variety, the quality and the taste was excellent! We will surely come back.

Had a great burger and some amazing tots. The vibe inside is great too. Full bar, own beer. Can't go wrong with the vortex.

I can't say enough about this place. I always stop in when in the ATL. Top 5 burgers in the country (USA). The Zombie Apocalypse burger and the Dixie wrecked taters (tots) are blissful! They don't take any crap here, so don't be a jerk (they're not). The menu is one seriously hilarious read (online, too). Love the ambience and overall attitude/style of this joint! See ya next time, Vortex!

Full bar, huge burgers. Clean bathrooms. Awesome wait staff. If you are going on the weekend, prepare to wait! Parking not free on weekends.

Burger was pretty disappointing. The one I ordered came with bacon, chipotle cream cheese and pineapple jelly. The pineapple jelly had little flavor. Cream cheese was the only flavorful thing. Burger was super under seasoned. I got the fried plantains as my side which were burnt and inedible. Complete waste of money

Great burgers really neat atmosphere and excellent service. First time here will definitely come back again when visiting Atlanta

Visited ‘The Vortex’ again, been here 5 times and always do every time l come to Atlanta.. the place is brilliant and the food is excellent however l was let down this time.. l had a Lone Star Tex Melt and asked for it well done as l don’t eat meat raw or any sign of the meat been pick.. anyway the meat inside the burger was cooked but the outside was hard as rock and burnt.. not good.. when you request the burger to be well done it should be not hard and burnt on the outside, the chef does not know how to cook burgers.. you can cook them well done without overcoming them.. so l did not enjoy this and could not eat it.

OMG!!! The food!! Ahhhhhmazing!!! Tattertots! Cheeseburgers! The Mac n Cheese chimichanga!! You just cannot go wrong! This is an over 21 place so leave the kids at home.

This was our first visit since they went no smoking inside and we could tell the difference immediately. There were seven of us and Kenny took great care to make sure we had a wonderful dinner. He adjusted a ceiling fan for us, made sure our drinks were first rate and was careful in taking our food orders making sure he wrote down everything correctly. There were no issues with anything and thank you Vortex for changing the smoking policy!

The food was great as well as the atmosphere. Parking was awful. Tried to charge $10 for parking but we choose to wait for a Vortex space, it was lunch so we did not wait for long.

Unbelievable burgers (TRULY!!), locally brewed micro beers, and EXCEPTIONAL service! Rebecca, the daytime bartender is a personable, fun, and a longtime member of the Vortex Little 5 Points staff. Highlight of my work/vacation adventure in that area!!! Thank you, Rebecca and Vortex!

Stopped in before we left Georgia on the recommendation of a local friend who claims best burger in Georgia.. they were not kidding. This burger was simply amazing. The fried pickles were the best I've ever had. I had the mushroom burger and my GF had the single bypass. Staff was super helpful and had a overall "chill" atmosphere. I'm from New York and No place home can compare. I would highly recommend!

I've always liked The Vortex because it's one of those places run by subcultural people and I like to pop in when I visit Atlanta. You can get buckets of their house beer which is good and they have really good wings and fried pickles. Little Five Points isn't as edgy of a neighborhood as it used to be, though. I hadn't been back to Atlanta since 2008 and all of the goth and punk rock stores were gone. The Vortex seems to be one of the only places left to catch even a whiff of this.

Went for a late night meal and was not disappointed. Three of us had delicious burgers, fresh drinks and good service. Has a different, spunky atmosphere.

This place was packed, but it worth the 45 minutes wait. Great environment, I had the guacamole burger and it was delicious the sirloin patty makes a difference! Price is fair. Make your reservation.

Took an Uber to the vortex from our hotel by the airport when we got stranded at the atlanta airport during a snow storm on our way to Costa Rica. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Stayed at the renaissance hotel which was beautiful and ate st the vortex which had amazing food. The bartender Katie was great to talk to, the wings were great and the burgers were the second best I have ever had behind au cheval in Chicago. The vortex is a must try while in Atlanta!

Doing the tourist thing for the day in Atlanta and picked Vortex for our lunch. First I must note that the area is super cute and next time I go to Atlanta I want to explore it more. Parking looks like it could be hard at times but we got a spot easily. Obviously the skull front of the building is pretty cool and inside it has fun décor as well. Service was good but they were so when we were there so maybe its not always the case. They have a crazy fun drink menu and I only needed one drink because it was strong. I don't eat burgers often but since that is kinda there thing I figured I might as well try one. I can't remember the name of the one I got but it had ham on it and it was fantastic, one of the best burgers I have had in a while. My boyfriend liked his burger as well. I had tater tots with my burger and found them to be average. Overall everything was good and I would totally eat here again.

Have a fantastic time with my family. The server was amazing, food and drinks were on time. the environment is wonderful for adults only...

This is one of those places you have to see to believe!! It’s so cool! The food is outstanding! Best burgers!!

I always make a point to eat the Vortex when I’m in Atlanta. The food here is just awesome and is always consistent, had the blue cheese burg with bacon added, the size of these burgers are so huge, they’re thick and juicy and so flavorful, they is definitely a burger for everyone. The sides are very tasty and the best part is it’s a bar and therefore 21 and up only. Sorry kiddos. Definitely a must do when in Atlanta!

The Vortex is one of those places that must be visited to be believed. It is certainly the only place where people looking under 30 must show an ID to get in. It is essentially split off between the bar, which is a lively, hopping spot, and the restaurant, which is a lively hopping spot. Yes, it's two awesome places in one. The food was very good, but didn't seem like a good place for a picky eater. But it's fun, noisy, vivacious and a real trip. I would recommend The Vortex if you want an restaurant and bar experience that you will not soon forget

Funky, fun place in Little Five if you want the most delicious burger you have ever put in your mouth served in a fun atmosphere. You might be offended, but you won't be disappointed!

Fun neighborhood to walk through and The Vortex is an absolute must stop!! Drinks, atmosphere and burgers are out of this word. They have ridiculously named burgers to (literally) die for... The quadruple coronary one is almost 10,000 calories, I had a heart attack simply by reading all the ingredients Haha I chose the bypass one... Good quality meat!! Big skull as their door and very cool/vintage-style decor.

Let me start off by saying my husband and I eat at the Vortex at least 10 times out the year and I'm always pleased with the service and food but today..... My husband and I came to the Votez this afternoon for a bacon cheese burge with tatet tart tots and a side order of wings When the cookr brought our food out the tater tots were over cooked. CRUNCHY HARD! So I mentioned to our waiter that the tots were cooked too hard. I heard her tell the cook/server what I said. I saw the cook/server take a long deep breath, placed her hands behind her head as if she was disgusted. At this point Im pissed that the server/cook had an attitude. I asked for the manager and the same lady who served us the food came out. She looked unconcerned and untethered. Her name is Christy and she shouldn't be in charge off a piss contest! When I complained to her, she looked as if she didn't have a care in the world. She asked what was wrong with the wings because they were seasoned with barbque! I told her the wings weren't seasoning at all at that barbecue wasn't a seasoning its a sauce! She preceded to tell me that the tater tots were served crunchy. By now I'm really irritated with this lady. She grabbed the tater tots off the table with her hands reaching over my plate and never said excuse me. She never once apologized. It wasn't like we wanted a refund or anything. I simply wanted her to know how displeased we both were with the food.. I refuse to eat here again with this kind of service from a manager!

A friend recommended this place while here in Atlanta. I'm so glad we did! The staff was super friendly and helpful with their suggestions. We had the Classic Coronary and the spicy pineapple one (I can't remember the name - see menu picture). Excellent choices. I highly recommend this place.

A friend of mine took me here while visiting Atlanta recently. The burgers are some of the best I have ever had! Very cool vibe to the place. Upon my return trip layover I took the taxi here from the airport even before checking into my hotel. A must stop if you are in the ATL.

If you have never been then you must! It's 18 and over and they have the best burgers located in Little Five Points. Great lovely atmosphere and a good time for sure!

I love Vortex, and always stop in for a laughing skull and rebel outlaw burger. This time we tried the loaded tots as well. Delicious! Vortex is consistently great....just wish they still had sweet potato fries and marshmallow dip to go with my burger.

Very cool place! And awesome burgers!! Take some time to walk around the area! Very unique and fun place! Service at vortex was fast, friendly and helpful! I had the fat Elvis burger. Delicious and filling!

Always come back here when I am in town. The food is amazing, the staff is always super friendly and helpful and the environment is super laid back and fun. The fact that it is an 18+ restaurant also adds to the enjoyment.

The decor inside this place is great it’s almost like a museum, now I know where all the tin signs go from American Picker. Nice atmospheric and great burgers.

My sister and I were in town for a horror convention and we had heard this place was amazing. I thought it would never live up to all the hype but it absolutely did. We had the zombie burger, Mac n cheese chimichanga, and tater tots with cheese goo. The wait staff was super nice and very on the spot we went during peak lunch hours on Saturday and we didn’t have to wait long at all on our food. We will definitely be back.

Great food, great atmosphere. A must go!This place had been on a few Travel channel and Food channel shows. This place is an institution of how burgers should taste.

I had a delicious beer from a local brewery and an obscenely delicious burger . Mom always told me not to eat anything bigger than my head, but tonight that rule went out the window. The burger was huge. And our service was great!

Highly recommended and super busy so had a waiting list of about an hour. No problem because of all of the very cool shops and vibe throughout the area. Great people watching 👍. Got seating outside in the outdoor upper level and enjoyed the hell out of ourselves. Great drinks, huge shots, and great food was had by all. We sat next to millennials, cos-play folks, and many others. Service was attentive but don't expect to be coddled here. We would certainly return and likely will next time we are in town!

Amazing food !!! Went on Saturday for late lunch. We got the cheese bites (cheese curds) as an appetizer - side sauce is legit. My Cheeseburger was amazing. And the Bloody Mary with the Slim Jim was so fun and spicy. Loved it all. Service was great, very attentive by server and team. We enjoyed our time there despite the wait. Can’t wait to come back !

My wife and I come back to Georgia every couple of years. This is one of our must stops while we are there. If you want the most delicious burgers stop here. Just FYI, no one under 21 allowed.

The Vortex a tradition in Little Five Points for years. Food is great and prices are great. Parking is a little cramped and be prepared to wait in line on certain days and times.

So you are in Atlanta on a conference and want to go for local food. What do you do? You take a cab and end up in Vortex. This place you see in American films or series. There is no hiding in this place. The American menu. Go for burgers. Mine with blue cheese was pretty good.

Such a fun bar/restaurant with tons of memorabilia on the walls to keep your eyes amused. Efficient and friendly bartender promptly took my order and was engaging the entire time I was there. Do try one of their specialty drinks - while are definitely fruity, they do pack a punch. The “Reuben Sandwich” was a large portion on grilled bread. The meat was a little salty but still excellent and the “Fried Plantains” were perfect. Absolutely read ALL of the "Customer Notices"… Note - you must be 21 or older to enter because they allow smoking of cigarettes (only) inside. Insiders Tip – ask about the “Secret” menu and definitely ask for a side of their house made “Seasoning Salt” which is Amazing on Everything…

From the giant skull door to the interior decor, we loved everything about this place! I had the Mac and Cheesy Changa which was delicious! Service was really great too.

From check in until we left, it was 3.5 hours of my life I’ll never get back. I enjoyed the atmosphere and snark from the staff, but that was the end of the positives. We waited an hour and a half to be seated and then another hour for food. Half the table got their food and finished before the other half was even served. The fried zucchini was good, the burgers just average. To be fair, very little would be worth a 3 hour wait, but the entire party said their meal was just meh. Very underwhelming, even 1/2 off the bill to acknowledge the kitchen issues wouldn’t ever bring me back to try again

During a recent trip through Atlanta, a friend recommended we try the Vortex on Moreland Ave in Atlanta. This location is way over the top for a fun and funky place for dinner. We all had the normal sized burgers, which were more than enough. Our complements to the writers of their menu. The names and descriptions of the line of Coronary Bypass burgers makes for a fun read. I was full just reading the descriptions, particularly of the Quadruple Coronary Bypass Burger (comes in at a whopping 9,600 calories!) If you want to experience a fun time while having a great meal, don't miss the Vortex Bar and Grill. How wrong can you go when entering a dining establishment through a skull?

I got the single bypass burger. 1/2 pound patty, bacon and lots of cheese. This burger was so good. One of the best burgers I’ve had. We always visit the burger place when we travel and this one was awesome. This is a must visit place while in Atlanta. Anywhere that’s been on Man vs Food can’t be bad.

Given the vibe of the neighborhood, this eatery fits right with all its eclectic interior decor. Didn't try the burger with almost 4000 calories to it, but excellent 50/50 chili and the signature burgers were well done (in terms of taste and presentation - not the cooking time - no pun intended). Park was ample during the day for my afternoon visit, but on weeknights, weekends (including sports weekends), I can see that parking would be a challenge. definitely worth a visit if you are from out-of-town.

Headed out of town and choice of places.. here or the “V”. Duh... best burgers in town and great beers. Just wish I had two stomachs to eat more. Great service and greater food and greatest beer.

From the skull shaped entryway to the skeleton on a motorcycle suspended from the ceiling, this place does not fall short in terms of a unique vibe! Not only is the decor unique, the menu offered an extensive selection of burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers with off the wall combinations of toppings. As much as I wanted to try the Elvis burger with peanut butter and fried plantains, I opted for the fried chicken sandwich smothered in sausage gravy and topped with crispy bacon. It was delicious! My wife had a classic cheeseburger and said it was very good. We heard how much The Vortex was a staple in the Atlanta-area and we certainly figured out why. Definitely highlight The Vortex as a Must-Go on your next visit to ATL!!

The Vortex is an Atlanta staple and rightfully so with their delicious burgers? Dive-y decor and very “direct” servers along with a host of rules that are easy to follow if you are a normal human. The menu has more things on it, but it’s a mistake to not get a burger and fries. Expect a wait, it’s a tiny place and very much a bar that also doubles as a reataurant. Check out their website before you go to familiarize yourself with their “rules” so you don’t get caught off guard.

Now that's a Burger, absolutely Love this place. Can't wait to return on our next visit to Atlanta. It all starts from the Grand Entrance of walking inside a Skulls Head. Followed by being 21+ and up only. Next enjoying the fun decor. Then Delicious drinks to quench our thirst. Finishing up with Great Burgers.....and more cocktails. Sorry no room for deserts. Saved room for more cocktails.

This is a place that every burger lover should visit, at least once (a month). The burgers taste like they are described on the menu and come as ordered. On a busy day (always, so it seems. There's often a line, especially during summer tourist season), service isn't always very quick, but an another order of beer will cure your impatience.) Whatever, once you have your burger on your plate you've forgotten. It's hell for those who count calories, but heaven for those who don't (Coronary Bypass Burger anyone?). Plan your day's food intake accordingly. By the way, if the menu say it's spicy, it is. Take one of the side booths or one towards the back if you want to have a conversation. It truly is an unique place. A bit loud maybe, but still...............

Really good food and a unique place to go to. Cool atmosphere. Service was good, but we got there when they opened at noon.

Our little family happened to be across the street from The Vortex. My son said, that the burgers are really good. Since my husband was hungry & loves burgers I said, let’s go. Really this place is very popular & crowded. It was a week night so I think it only took ten minutes to get a table. We all orders burgers. The men got the Coronary Bypass Burger, they could not finish. To their surprise I got just the Vortex & I finished it. The way they cook them is the reason this place is must.

This place was totally awesome. Cute little bar/restaurant with TONS of funky stuff hanging from everywhere...we played I Spy the whole time trying to locate different items. The burgers were awesome… I had the Elvis burger with peanut butter and plantains which was different but yummy. The only thing that was bad was that you could smoke in here. Yuk. But still worth a visit

This place is so eclectic & has a great atmosphere not to mention food is great !! We go to Atlanta at-least twice a year & we always go to Vortex on a mission to try all the burgers 😂!! People say omg how good could it be ? It’s hard to mess up a burger !! Ummmm well just have a burger at the Vortex & you’ll realize everyone else HAS been messing up 😂

Server was courteous and entertaining. Menu's are a riot to read. Burger was excellent (heard it's a great place to grab a burger). Definitely a fun, quirky place, I'd recommend people going to when in the area for the day.

Second time here and was ushered onto the outside rooftop patio. I have to say, without the eclectic indoor atmosphere from the last visit, this visit fell short. The food was still good, but I would recommend sitting indoors to get the full effect of this place

This place actually a bar dan specializes in burgers. Very interesting interior and good ambiance for enjoying a beer or two with a burger. Absolutely not a place for health conscious customers. Good prompt service.

Stopped and had lunch while traveling to visit family. Saw it tv and wanted to try. The inside has lots of fun things hanging everywhere to look at. The menu is very funny, but very straight forward. There are signs stating must be over 21 and 3 different groups turned away because they had kids, even though signs clearly state no one allows under 21. I loved the fact it was 21 and over. Has lot of sandwiches and apps to pick from, large drink and beer selection also. Food was delicious and fast friendly service. Will definitely recommend and if back in the area, will eat thete again to try some interesting food .

Awesome burgers and sandwiches. It's a small informal spot that has an extensive beer menu. The tater tots are great as well. The description of the sandwich I had said it was smack yo mama good so I had to order it and was not disappointed.

This is one of my daughter's favorite place. She had a doctor's appointment at Emory and we stopped here for a late lunch. Please understand that this establishment is primarily a bar which has an excellent menu. We ordered the burgers even though they have other types of food. The server was excellent and took our order. They give you the option on how done you want your burger. BTW be prepared to be carded when you enter the building. This isn't a place for kids.

I was meeting my daughter and fiancé here for dinner I arrived first, but they wouldn’t set me until we were all there. Also there’s only a handful of parking spaces so we had to pay $20 apiece for parking. Between parking ,burgers, fries, and a couple beers was around $150 for three of us. Food was average.

Our daughters were in town for a visit and wanted to go to Little Five Points. We went to The Vortex for a late lunch. The menu options leave one with little choice other than needing to make a return visit due to the amount of choices. We each ordered something different from burgers to chicken sandwich to Cuban sandwich. All were great and all had a choice of sides. You won't leave hungry!

My husband and I had the regular ol vortex burger and my son had the blue cheese mushroom burger. We all loved our burgers. The meat is of high quality and the prices are mid-range. Decor is funky and interesting, much like the surrounding area. Lots of beers to choose from. We enjoyed the total experience.

This was my favorite place to eat when we visited Georgia. Best burger I have had. The classic bypass burger is a must try. The tater tots were so crunchie!!!! Drinks were tasty and strong. Our waitress was awesome and had no problem answering any questions we had . It’s 21 and over and overall a fun place to visit.

Eclectic clientele a hodgepodge of decor. Friendly funky staff. THE best Bloody Mary's & Burgers. A burger for every taste and the fried plantains are always my favorite side. Unless you luck into an actual Vortex parking space, you will have to pay for parking (welcome to Atlanta)

A truly amazing burger bar and restaurant. They are decked out with all kinds of Spirit and Voo Doo decor. The bar and restaurant serve drinks with names like Zombie Apocolipes which is fantastic and all kinds of appetizers and some great burgers like the Shroom and Blue. Great service and very relaxed atmosphere. Great music and great crowd.

Amazing Burger and drinks were phenomenal! I also love the fact I can only go and leave the kids at home for mommy time. Waiter was very informative and will go back.

it looks good but I don't eat pork but I'm looking forward to getting so much to get some and follow me back thank you

We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday right when they opened, which we were seated right away. The atmosphere and decor has a fun and eclectic vibe. They have rules, which you can read them on the back of your menu. If your cell phone is out and you're using it, no service. We had a great server who was very attentive. We ordered cheeseburgers and tater tots, which were good. We read somewhere before we came that they have really amazing burgers, but the burgers lacked seasoning, so that made them just "good". Over all it's a cool place, we would come back if we were in the neighborhood, again.

Pre concert (Variety Playhouse- an easy walk) dinner: Sat at the bar with great service. After reading the reviews, had to have the burger, and it was as advertised. Delicious- especially with pimento cheese. And at $9.50 with a side- amazing! will be back when in Atlanta.

Came across The Vortex for lunch on a work trip. I had the Blew 'Shroom Burger which, like the other burgers my colleagues ordered, was HUGE and delicious. Burgers are all quite unique (e.g. Fat Elvis Burger with smooth peanut butter, bacon and fried bananas). We started with the Cheese Balls appetizers. The menu lists the Policies of the restaurant, which are humorous and spot on. I'll be back next time I'm in Atlanta!

The Vortex offers up a great selection of craft brews, novelty burgers, and fun, casual atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

I expected the Best and I got it. I asked for 2 cups of Mayonnaise also. And Extra cheese. It was delicious medium rare patties. It was still a little cold but I added TOBASCO and it was better. I had a side of success and a serving of victory. Yea baby

Wow! Vortex is a hidden gem! You must visit one of the Vortex restaurants! Burgers are their specialty! Nicely priced and laid back atmosphere! A must when visiting the beautiful city of Atlanta!!! Kids and adults will love the huge amount of memorabilia and displays !

Since every other restaurant within walking distance seems to stop serving food at 8 pm, I popped by this joint and wow was I shocked! Good beer selection and the menu was more than sufficient. The burgers here are absolutely outstanding! Any other review is an understatement....prompt service, and both the hostess and server were polite and eager to please. Service was very expedient and I didn't wait for anything; I was waited on and checked up on frequently and without complaint. It also didn't hurt that they were attractive and dressed appropriately :) The service in this place was easily one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. A trip to Atlanta without visiting The Vortex is a trip wasted. Make it a point to go here! Food: 9/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 10/10

My brother suggested we go check this place out... Normally let down when someone hypes it up so much. Did they deliver! The chicken sandwich and burger were delicious! Onion rings and tots did not disappoint either. And to finish off, funnel cake fries! Go check it out and hopefully this review won't disappoint you either.

Just read the menu. So fun. So unique. if you're in the Atlanta area, this is a must-do. The entrance is a huge skull! The staff was super chill. I had a burger, tater tots, and the best chili I've ever had in my life.

Great burgers, tater tots and onion rings in a funky bar/restaurant with lots of decorations like a motorcycle, license plates and what not. Burgers were huge and we ordered the basic ones, not the cardiac burgers! Good service, not crowded on a Monday night. Went to a different location for the comedy club on the next night. Couldn’t get in because we didn’t have advance tickets and they were sold out. Disappointed because it didn’t seem very busy on a Tuesday night.

My first stop in Atlanta since it was within walking distance of the hotel and had such great reviews. The server got a little busy but was otherwise nice and attentive. I just got a regular burger with bacon and cheese and it was alright. Will say the loaded nachos were quite tasty, and the sweet plantains as a side were nice too. Atmosphere was cool and gave my friend and I a nice look into the culture of downtown Atlanta.

Visited for the very first time based on recommendations here. I got the black & blue burger. I would recommend it. Blackening was great, blue cheese spread was terrific. Patty was ok (med rare). Funnel fries were...well...funnel fries. Worth trying. That said, the place is funky and real. Loved that! Friendly staff. Super quick service. I will come back if I'm in Atlanta again. Pic is of the funnel fries.

This was the 2nd trip to The Vortex on our weekend trip to Atlanta. The service at this location was much better than the service at the Piedmont location in town. Our server was quick and attentive, getting our drinks to us quickly, and the order to the kitchen timely. Our food arrived within 15 min of placing the order, piping hot and absolutely delicious!! Fried zucchini as a side item option? Funnel Cake Fries?? Goodness, the possibilities are endless! We will DEFINITELY be back when we come back to Atlanta!

Decent bar food in kitschy setting. Good burgers and cold beer on a hot day hit the spot. Staff very honest. One of party left credit card in bill holder and staff held it for him to pick up next day, Kudos to you!

I had the Tex Melt and my husband had the Fat Elvis. They were good but the burger patty itself was just so plain, no seasoning or anything. My Acid trip drink was great! Very friendly staff and the atmosphere was super cool! But probably wouldn’t go back for the food🤷🏼♀️

We had dinner at the Vortex during a recent trip to Atlanta and enjoyed both the meal and the atmosphere. The cheesy cheese goo with tots was cheesy heaven! The burgers were huge and delicious, I couldn't even come close to finishing. The cocktails we ordered were spot-on, and we enjoyed the energy in the restaurant. Be sure to read the rules on the menu - they are great advice!

This burger will leave you with an urge to drop down and sleep afterwards, they also have several other interesting burgers, there is one called fat elvis that has plantains and peanut butter on it. Yes! Peanut butter!

This place is awesome. The burgers are off the chain. Great service to boot. Big selection of burgers and much much more. And no kids.

Been waiting awhile to go to this place and it didn't disappoint me. Great drinks great food great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back. Katie should us a great time.

This is a Bar but is also a restaurant, and they make that clear on its menu! I never get tired of reading their warnings for allergic people… q2 to that dark humor.

Cool place. We were here at lunch. I bet at night this place is hopping. Thanks to Seth, our server for great experience. Burgers were excellent

We arrived around 8:30 on a Friday night to celebrate my sons 21st Birthday. It was insanely busy. We were able to score seats at the bar while waiting for a table. I got the hypnotizer and it was pretty hypnotic. There was nothing watered down about any of our drinks! We waited about 1.5 hours for our table and the place was still completely packed when we were seated. Hub got the barbq Mac n cheese and loved it. The other 2 in our group got burgers and loved them. I got hot wings and they were disgustingly undercooked and covered in a hot paste. Dont get the inferno wings!! The waiter recommended them, he was wrong lol. I managed to get one down and trashed the rest. Waiter didn’t take them off the bill but he was hard to find most of the night so it is what it is. Overall we had a great time with great drinks and mostly great food. It was a fun 1st visit.

First off don't be afraid of walking in under the giant skull at the front door. The demographics surprised me as the age is anywhere from 21 to old farts and they make all welcome. Service is top notch and very attentive. Drink menu is wild and you just have to come in and have mind melted. Food is burgers to appetizers and sandwiches. Just fun to make a selection. Fried pickles and cheese curds while drinking. Chili is delicious. Now look up. Look to your your left and right. Everything you can imagine is hanging from the walls and the ceiling. Small place but big on character and fun

This place is so amazing! You have to order a burger. No matter which one you choose...you won't be disappointed!

Little five points area...The service was quick and there were no errors made on our orders. I RARELY eat burgers so for me this was average. I went with friends who frequent this place and they love the burgers. We started with the $2.00 (bartender special) shots and tried some specialty drinks. I did not like that I had to pay for parking (because of limited free space) and park behind a different building and walk to the Vortex. Overall would go back during the day...& probably just have drinks.

this is one of my favorite burger joints in Atlanta the crazy eclectic toppings and combos that they have for the burgers is awesome. top that with a good sized hunk of beef and stuff your face. The fried pickles spears are awesome as well

One of the Atlanta mainstays. I just wanted something good to go, so I came in make a quick order. On this occasion, I got the ATL Chopped Cheese with a side of loaded potato salad. It was so good. Normally, I wouldn't get a chopped cheese outside of NYC, but this twist of it was really good. And the loaded potato salad is one of my favorite sides of theirs. Great prices on their sandwiches & burgers as well, for the portion size. Inside is small, but it's a neighborhood joint. Parking is a small lot.

This place is definitely a different/gothic vibe. So, not exactly my “normal” place. But I sat at the bar and enjoyed some cold brews and a FANTASTIC burger. Great, friendly service as well!

Great atmosphere the whole rough rider, rebel without a cause is awesome. The outside area was very nice cool but still warm out. Just great decor which contributes to the atmosphere but beware this is a bar not a resturaunt so no one under 21 is allowed in. Which is a shame but at the same time some of the decor you wouldnt want your kids to see. So for that its a good thing.

Ordered the Hells Fury burger and enjoyed it. Not too spicy because the server recommended I spice my own burger. My only issue was that the bottom bun got soggy and fell apart while eating. Not easy to eat a Vortex burger because they are so huge! The fried cheese appetizer and fried zucchini were good. I also had a bite of colleagues Elvis burger. So interesting. Peanut butter and plantains. Enjoyed it. Too full though.

Stopped in on a Tuesday for lunch. It was seat yourself and we had no wait. Also we had plenty of parking options. Service was quick. Our group got a couple different burgers with all being cooked perfect with great flavor. Only reason it didn't get a 5 dot rating was the fries on the side were not fresh cut.

Went there to try their burgers I had heard so much about. It was good however I had the side of funnel fries and those were to die for! I will go back for the funnel fries!!!!

I know this looks like a little dive but it was the best dive ever!!!! I had the Pattymelt with loaded potato salad!!!! My friend had The Vortex Burger and she said it was the best hamburger ever!!! Service was great!!! Drinks come in HUGE cups!!! 20 out of 10!!!!!

When in east ATL visiting a customer this is our go to for a funky atmosphere and great burgers. Eclectic neighborhood dive bar. Its a staple when in the ATL.

Went to Vortex with a group of 9 people for dinner on a Saturday night. They don't take reservations, so one person in our party went a little early to get our names on the list. The not so friendly manager told her our entire party had to be present to even get our names on the list - what a pain. I can understand having your party present to be sat, but to get on a wait list at a place where the line is usually an hour long seemed ridiculous. Then she informed us that they can't accomodate our entire party at one table, no matter how long we wait, bummer. Once our entire party arrived we went back to the hostess stand and notified them and were told they could put some tables together and we could sit together, surprising, but good. Less than 10 minutes later we were taken to our tables, yes I said tables as they didn't allow us to sit together afterall. We made the best of it. The menu was full of options for burgers that were imaginative and fun. I got the Pickle Rick which was really really good - try it you will like it. My husband got the 50/50 chili and was glad he didn't go with the full beef chili as it was quite spicy. I was let down that they charged us $1 extra for crackers for the chili - what chili is served without crackers? We shared the cheesy gooey goo tots which I felt were a let down. I had the loaded potato salad which was good. Drinks were good too. I had an Acid Trip that was quite strong, with good flavor. Not sure I will make a point to go back with the lack of service.

Not usually a burger fan, but they offer so many creative combinations. Takes burgers to another level. Fun, friendly environment.
Great dive...really
Service was great, food was excellent, fun spot for friends and a casual meal. Absolutely LOVED the notes on the back of the menu.
