Usually I don’t take the time to write bad reviews but this one hit a nerve. Cost of breakfast for just me was close to $30 because the waitress was holding the credit card machine with a death grip and I couldn’t adjust the tip amount down. Food wasn’t good at all and the service was worse. I left hungry as I refused to just force myself to eat what they put in front of me. I truly felt that I was inconveniencing the waitress by being there. Body language and attitude stated she didn’t want to be at work. Some days you just can’t win and this was one of those. I would have appreciated if she had told me “not today and just asked me to leave”, before I sat down. I should mention I was there very early in the morning on a weekday so not many people there. Wasn’t like the place was slammed with diners. Maybe 5-10 people. Anyway, just didn’t sit well with me. Unfortunate.

We were staying at the Crown plaza.. and not driving so we had quite a walk to get here but it was worth it. The whole experience was fantastic the service the food the atmosphere. It was my birthday and our waitress had clocked this after my excellent breakfast the team came out and sang happy birthday to me making my birthday extra special it was my 50th after all 👌💖

My family and I eat hear every year we goo to San Diego. This place is warm and inviting. Kinda small like a country kitchen. The staff is always friendly and the food is great. They have a dozen or so different types of waffles. The menu is small but you don't need a lot. The food portions are big. The omelettes are also very yummy. They have a mascot named "Waffle King" who comes and mingles with the guests. My kids love this place and one is a teenager.

We ate here for brunch on Mothers Day as we were in town for a dance competition. We stayed at the Kings Inn so it was convenient for us to walk down for food. When we got there it was busy so we put our name down. The cool part is you can track your spot through the yelp app and find exactly how many people are in front of you and the party size so you know when its time to come back. When it was our time to be called, we were promptly seated. They have a good variety of food to each. The waffles are great. The country potatoes are to die for. I ended up getting the 2 egg plate with potatoes and mini waffles. These are probably the best waffles I've ever had. They were nice and flurry and had a great taste. I ate all my country potatoes and everyone else's who didn't eat/finish theirs also. The food was delicious. Our waitress was nice and friendly and the service was great. Even though it was Mothers Day and busy, the service didn't lack. They are very attentive. We typically stay with family but having a dance comp across the street, this made it nice. When we come back, we will definitely come back to eat here.

Food was a bit below expectations...figured the waffles may have had a unique taste/twist be not here. Bacon...how can bacon have zero flavor...well here you’ll find it. Lots of other options nearby.

We were so glad we got a chance to swing by here. We even came back the next day because it was so good. I had a plain waffle (it's their signature, so I had to!), and my husband had the chicken and waffles. We both enjoyed them. The next day, he had a decadent pile of chocolate on his waffle, and I got one topped with apples. Delicious and simple, and the server was excellent. She even remembered us.

Food was delicious and service was excellent. Even though it was a busy place, our wait was minimal. They give you big portions of food.

They do have a variety of waffles. Prices were reasonable, service very good. Sir Wafflelot made a guest appearance on Sunday morning.

We enjoyed the variety of traditional breakfast items that could be found on their menu. The waffle flavors were unique and they were all delicious! Be prepared for a wait on a weekend morning, it is popular with large groups and families.

The food was good and the service was nice. Being English we couldn't work out they kept filling up our coffee cup, but loved it all the same.

I had the pleasure of eating breakfast at Waffle Spot this morning. Although they were busy, my friend and I were seated right away. The restaurant is small but had a great atmosphere. The decor is very cute and fun. And the staff was friendly and helpful. The food came quickly, which was a nice surprise considering how busy they were. It’s impossible to serve waffles when they are warm, and there was no exception here. They were still very delicious! I had a scoop of ice creamed added just for fun. That brought back fond memories of my childhood. I will definitely eat there again the next time I’m in the area!!

Food and service were AMAZING! Hotel offers 10% discount to those staying there. Recommend the Mexican omelette with homemade chorizo with mini waffles😋

The Waffle Spot is connected to the Kings Inn where we stayed while vacationing in San Diego. It offers a broad selection of typical breakfast items, especially waffles! The decor style is a sort of retro - old fashioned look. The food was great, as was the service.

Super friendly staff and really good breakfast food. Highly recommend the mini-waffles and hashbrowns. Plenty of parking outside. Not too crazy expensive. Old school diner feels like the 70's or 80's. I will be back when I'm in town again. it really hit the spot

Stayed at the Kings Inn and had a weekday breakfast here. It's a small place so there is a wait unless you get there early. A definite '60s diner decor/vibe which fits in with the Kings Inn. Had the chicken & waffles- generous portions, but the chicken was only warm and dried out. Definitely not freshly fried. Pecan waffle was just a regular waffle with pecans sprinkled on top- ok, but nothing special. I probably should have chosen an egg dish or one of the Mexican breakfast offerings. BTW, there is a 10% discount if you stay at the Kings Inn- show your key card.

Me and my daughter has to try the waffles before we left. So we did and this place didn’t disappoint, but there was a 30 to 45 min. wait well worth it. The wait was due to all of the families coming in and eating at this place. They even have a mascot on site to greet everybody who’s waiting to eat. This was super cool cause even adults were taking pics with the mascot. We got our food in a timely manner and the staff was super kind and professional. I had ALREADY paid for my food and was waiting to get a mug I had requested and paid for, the cashier gave me my mug I told her oh I forgot to tell u I stayed here 2 nights. Ok no worries she redid my order and gave me my 15% back. Like I said super kind and super professional. When we go back to the Kings Inn we’ll b having breakfast at this cool retro restaurant. Oh ya when ur there check out all of the AMAZING pictures people have created free hand and colored in. Their all over the soffit and walls, see which super hero u recognize.

We stayed at the Kings Inn and ate at the Waffle Spot several times. We loved it. Staff were friendly and welcoming, food was great and so much choice! We loved this slice of traditional American dining!

Great food. nothing to be unhappy about. Restaurant closes shortly after lunch. Great waffles, eggs bacon and very good coffee. Friendly service!

The Waffle Spot serves an amazing breakfast for a reasonable price. We visited multiple times during our stay and were equally impressed each morning. Our server, Paula, was amazing and gave great recommendations on their daily specials. The coffee was also free-flowing which makes a big difference for me. My best advice is to arrive hungry because the portions are very generous!

Had the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. Came out within minutes of ordering, and was outstanding! Chose this because of its location and early morning hours, but will be back for the food and service.

Really nice breakfast spot. They seated us quickly. I enjoyed my omelet more than the banana nut waffle. My son really liked his churro flavored waffle. We all loved the bacon. It was nice and crispy. My husbands peach waffles were topped with a really good peach filling. It is nice that it was attached to our hotel.

Very good food, reasonable prices, extremely friendly and happy staff. Hidden gem, I had an awesome breakfast.

This was a good little spot for breakfast and the portions were nice for the price. I liked that they gave you the choice of toast or mini waffels for your meal.

We were with a huge group (over 20) and waited quite a while, but that's to be expected. I ordered a cinnamon apple waffle, and was disappointed to find it had five slices of raw apple and a dusting of cinnamon. I don't know if I misread the menu or just made assumptions. I expected a warm, cooked, apple-cinnamon topping. Anyway, the waffle was good with butter and syrup. Two of us went back another day for lunch. I had a BLT sandwich with hash browns on the side. Both were very good. They also have good hot chocolate with whipped cream.

Typical American restaurant. The dishes come well served and the coffee is also great. Even the restaurant being large, there was queue, but we were called very fast.

We had a small family reunion breakfast at the Waffle Spot and really enjoyed the food, waitress and the overall feel of the restaurant. It’s a small place and had to wait for while but it was well worth it. Service was very good and the food was very fresh and tasty. Oh the waffles where terrific! We also got to see the mascot “The Waffle King”. Great way to start off a Fathers Day celebration.

It was busy when we arrived but got seated quickly. This is a waffle haven. Many choices, or if you want plain, it's there too. I've had the waffle platter, egg and mushroom omlette, and the pecan waffle during our stay at the Kings Inn. All dishes were excellent and reasonably priced. The waiters and waitresses were consistent in refilling our coffee/water and checking if we needed anything. Loved the oldies that played while we ate. Highly recommend this to anyone.

Really as good a breakfast as you will find !! Try your favorite waffles The muchaca and eggs were fantastic !!

Loved this place. My Churro Waffle Platter featured two sunny eggs and some nice home fries with peppers and onions. Whoever thought of making a churro waffle is a genius. This baby had crunchy edges, was sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar, and was served with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Didn’t necessarily need it, but I drizzled it with some maple syrup and ka-POW, it rocked. The coffee was somewhat better than you typically find at a diner. A clean interior and excellent, knowledgeable, genuinely friendly service rounded out a great experience.

Decent meal, good service, decent price. Exactly what one would expect at a family restaurant. Waffle was yummy.

I hate to wait and at your restaurant, I have no choice, Take reservations! Otherwise, I won't be back.

Small and nothing fancy but good food. There was a short wait for a table but no waiting at the counter. Good spot if you are just looking for a simple breakfast. By far the best thing we ordered was the churro waffle.

Visiting my family (but tired of cereal for breakfast) my son and I stopped here. We loved the kitschy decor especially the waffle characters. Then the food came and it was great!! Besides waffles we had eggs and bacon which were equally delicious. It was a bit more expensive then I expected but totally worth it. Don’t think about it - just go!!!

We ate here one morning during our stay at the Kings Inn. I enjoyed the Toasted Pecan Waffle and my husband liked his Waffle Platter. The server was friendly and quick. The regular waffles without the platters are a little pricey, since that's all you get. There are cute pictures colored by kids and adults at the top of the walls. The entire place is branded very well.

We stayed at Kings Inn to start our week spring break vacation and walked over for breakfast. Absolutely the perfect way to begin our trip. The waffles, eggs, pancakes, and bacon were all done to perfection. Service was friendly and efficient. Pricing was fair for quality and quantity. Enjoy it!

A small diner decorated in typical American style, very nice! The breakfasts were good and plentiful. The friendly waiters. We tried the waffles with three chocolates and eggs and bacon! Everything was really great! Small criticism, the potatoes were a little raw but otherwise everything was perfect!!

Tasty waffles and breakfast in general. Beware: plates are BIG. I recommend sharing, specially if you not a big eater Service was good. Two waitresses, one friendlier than the other Sausages are yummy

Stopped today for breakfast at the Waffle Shop. It is located on Hotel Circle in the King’s Inn motel, and we try to go there when we crave a delicious breakfast. As the name implies they have waffles, both large and minis (available as a toast substitute) and pancakes that melt in your mouth with various fruit and syrup toppings. Their egg dishes and omlettes are fresh and tasty. I chose the “Mexican” chorizo, jalapeño, and cheese, my wife had the waffle platter with scrambled eggs and, consistently, some of the best bacon that she has had. Benedicts, chicken fried steak, and other appetizing Mexican dishes are on the menu. Service is fast and super friendly. The place is relatively small, but definitely worth the wait.

Excellent service to our mob (our kids and grandkids): sat 14 of us at a long table in their adjoining Amigo Spot restaurant. Great service, good food, good price.

Generous portions, friendly staff, a great family restaurant. If you are looking for a family friendly breakfast, this is it. Kings Inn guests are given a 10% discount.

We ate here probably on 3 separate occasions and enjoyed every meal. Residents of Kings Inn get a 10% discount, however i'd have happily paid the full price. The service team were always very friendly, helpful and considerate to our needs as we had a very challenging child who only likes a limited number of food items. Expect to queue up to 10 minutes at busy times, but the wait is worth it.

Second visit here. The food is awesome. If you like churros get the churro Waffle Its awesome. Not too sweet just right. Only wish they had one in my city.

We found this place by accident when our “resort” only offered a $30 per person buffet. The food was great and reasonably priced. The hostess was awesome! Next time we visit San Diego we will definitely eat here again!

We were hotel guests and ate here 2 times during our stay. Both meals were served quickly and were tasty! Service here is excellent, quick, and friendly. I tried the pancake platter while my husband and daughter had the apple cinnamon waffle special. The waffles were better than the pancakes. Nothing wrong with my pancakes just the waffles won! Loved the decor and sit up counter!!

The waffles were good although the fruit toppings had a distinctly fake taste to them with some fruit thrown in. There were not a lot of options if you did not want the waffles.

Amazing food and service. We had breakfast here every day in San Diego while staying at the king inn. Great price too. Large menu

If you are in San Diego, don’t forget to stop at the Waffle Spot on Hotel Circle for breakfast or lunch! Amazing waffles! Best bacon ever!!! We are from Iowa and we enjoy good bacon with our eggs and toast. Great to find it here in California! Friendly service, too! Stop by this classic breakfast spot! You’ll be glad you did! (Open until 2pm daily.)

Extremely fast service and great food! Plenty of items for the kiddies and parents to choose from. The restaurant is not extremely large so get there a little early to avoid a long wait time during the peak season. We’ve been twice during our trip and plan on returning again!

This place isn't fancy but the food is pretty good and a good value for the area. Our server was nice and we enjoyed our breakfast.

I have to admit that I didn't want to try this place for our last breakfast while on a short birthday weekend after seeing the pictures online. I would have preferred to go to Snooze because of the more adult looking decor, but I was out voted. Our Lyft ride from downtown was about 10 minutes but it was a nice scenic ride over to that area of town. The restaurant is actually connected to an outside motel. The decor was not as childish as I thought and the place was very clean. We were seated quickly. As we were deciding from the many options, I was checking out the size of the plates coming out...Huge!! Our server gave us all of the pros and cons of what we were considering. The service was great..never had to ask for a refill. The food came fairly quick..maybe 10 minutes. We liked the presentation and taste of our food. The bacon may have been overcooked. Would definitely recommend and maybe return if ever in SD again. Prices were also very good.

The fifties style restaurant has fifties music and a large variety. Had breakfast here twice and lunch once. All meals had a large portions of good home cooked taste meals. Everything was very clean and the staff very friendly. I have several good allergies and they were able to help out so I could have a full meal.

We ate here a few times since we were staying on site. They have fun waffle specials. The bacon was very good and toast helpings were very generous. The sausage links weren't very good. Restaurant was very clean and I was impressed with staff staying on task.

The service is top notch. for a busy place, they to be on top of everything. In fact we had two meals there.

Thank goodness this place stays the same! The waffles and food are AWESOME! Do not be intimidated by the wait, they move people in and out with some fast and friendly service. The “Waffle King” showed while we were in, and was a hit with the kids. By far a GREAT breakfast without the ridiculous SD restaurant prices!!!

My family and I ate breakfast here one morning and the food was really good. My ham and cheese omelet was tasty and so was my wheat toast. The service was great also.

great waffle joint, stop by if waffles are your thing, pretty quick service with excellent food, a must try

We had breakfast here on 10/22. Lots of food for the price, service was great, food was great, prices were great!

Had I known our visit would be among royalty, I would have dressed a little nicer. Sir Waffalot made a celebrity appearance during our morning brunch, and it was arguably the highlight of our visit to San Diego. The waffles are fit for a king. I highly recommend stopping by (and make sure your camera is ready!).

We ate fabulous big breakfasts here EVERY day for 6 days (seldom had a need for lunch. ) The place was also a big hit with locals on the weekends. That was the only time we had a bit of a wait... The staff were not only very pleasant but also very accomodating as to substitutions and special needs.

Next to the Kings Inn Hotel and very friendly staff. I have been there before and was very happy with the food and the pricing. You cant go wrong.

Cute little 60s retro spot. Waffles were good and the food prices for the area were reasonably. Service was good and the place was clean. Would eat here again

I brought a friend here for her birthday lunch. The retro hotel lobby was decorated with Valentine’s decor & photo ops! The cafe looks like an eatery you would find on Main Street at Disneyland. We each had mini waffles and eggs and coffee. Cute place!

Great waffles and breakfast burritos. Large portions. Service was exceptional. Quick service and reasonable prices.

Had 2 nice breakfast experiences here. Large plates of food and many drink alternatives. Clean and well presented. Shame they have not worked out that ideally you can’t have refill tea by keep using the same tea bag!! Would recommend, very good.

Delicious, inexpensive breakfast, with Paula, our absolutely phenomenal waitress. She made our visit, and our day. Highly recommend!!!

Before going into a new city I tend to scope out my eating on yelp. I found this particular restaurant and it had great reviews. It did not disappoint! I was a bit concerned when I arrived because there was no one to greet at the hostess stand and seating appear to be taking a while. The restaurant was not for they just seemed a little slow. And I was nervous because there was a sign Indicating it was worth the wait. I figured that was a bad omen. But I’m glad that I waited it out! My service could not have been more enjoyable. What’s the hostess reappeared I was seated nearly immediately. My server with Paula and she was a delight! I tried the corn beef hash with eggs and potatoes and the mini waffles. And when I played a ride to be honest the vegetables were cut quite largely so I didn’t think that this was going to go well. But the potatoes and vegetables were season to perfection. The corn beef hash was not my favorite but for anything that I did not enjoy on the plate the waffles more than made up for it! I’ve been thinking about and talking about those waffles indicating it was worth the wait. I figured that was a bad omen. But I’m glad I waited it out! My service could not have been more enjoyable. What’s the hostess reappeared I was seated nearly immediately. My server was Paula and she was a delight! I tried the corn beef hash with eggs and potatoes and the mini waffles. When my flight arrive to be honest the vegetables were cut quite largely so I didn’t think of this is going to go well. But the potatoes and vegetables were season to perfection. The corn beef hash was not my favorite but for anything that I did not enjoy on the plate the Waffles more than made up for it! I’ve been thinking about him talking about those waffles since I left! I’ve actually never had anything like it. They are melted and soft, warm with just the right Chris. They could not have been more perfect! Without question if I were in this area I would return. I definitely recommend that you make it one of your stops!

The food was ok, but the staff is the worst, my waitress come and gone whenever she likes but not to attended my party, just the tables around, excluding me. It took almost an hour since We sat and eat our breakfast. Food was ok, average. I choose the place only cause it was close to my hotel but thats all. I dont recommended it.

The Waffle Spot is conveniently located adjacent to the King's Inn front office. We ate breakfast here 3 times while staying at the motel. I loved the Farmer's Casserole and it was so delicious. I'm not much of an egg lover, but the scrambled eggs were the best I've ever had. Our waitress was so happy and personable. She told me she was writing the mini waffles down as my included side because they were so good. And they were! Had waffles all three times! They are busy, but service is fast. When you see locals eating there, you know it's good. Huge portions and very reasonably priced.

We were blown away by the Waffle Spot. My boyfriend and I joked that it didn't even feel like we were in California, but a diner off the highway in New Hampshire (where he's from). Our server was so incredibly friendly and welcoming. The churro waffle was absolutely to die for and my boyfriend loved his omelet. We will definitely be back whenever we're in the San Diego area.

My inner child loved the waffle character out front beckoning customers. Food served to go or on site with part of the parking lot. The did a good job making it look like a patio setting. Food was fairly good.

This place started out 50 years ago as a hotel coffee shop and while I would never stay at the hotel the Waffle spot was great and the service was excellent. I like that the pecans were in the waffle not just sprinkled on top.

Located on the ground floor of the King's Inn, the Waffle Spot is often overlooked as a breakfast spot selection. Too bad, as they have some of the best waffles in all of San Diego. Great place for kids too, they don't have to be perfect to eat in this casual place. All the staff are awesome and some of the waitresses have been there as long as I have been eating there. You might have to wait in line to get in, but it will be worth it. Maybe you'll even be entertained by the Waffle King himself!

Great food and conveniently located at the King's Inn Hotel. The food is awesome and very friendly service.

We had a great time! The restaurant doesn’t look very exciting from the outside and it’s attached to a small hotel so if you don’t know this place exists it’s hard to find. The food is delicious!! The best waffle I’ve ever had. We ordered the churro waffle and the chocolate chip waffle. We didn’t realize just how huge the portions where. One waffle platter is plenty for two people. The hot chocolate is also spectacular.

So many times when you go to a waffle shop, it is all about the toppings, but here, it is the waffle that is so tasty. It's a fun place, inside the King's Inn. They have daily specials. Make sure to get a photo with Sir Waffle outside too!

My family enjoyed this place the first morning we went there we went back two more times just to try more menu items. Good service, great comfort food. You should try the churro waffle. More desert than breakfast but we were on vacation so why not try it. We even snapped a few pics in the resturant and I have rarely done that. Pick up a mug for $5 with the logo. I just love a good retro dinner place.

This is a cute old school diner in a little hotel. If you're not looking for it, you will pass it up. It is worth visiting for some good breakfast /lunch plates! The service was good, the waitress was friendly and kept our coffee mugs full. I had the waffles and eggs benedict and my husband had the churro waffle. Both were delicious. The waffles were fluffy and tasty as was the rest of my plate! It wasn't too crowded, but it was lively. The bummer is that it's only open until 1 pm on Monday - Friday. I will still come back to try the rest of their menu, as they have a pretty good variety.

Definitely the worst breakfast that I've tasted in San Diego. If you are looking for a good quality first food in the morning, please, don't visit this place. The concept of the place is atractive but is really bad.

As we stayed in the Kings Inn hotel, we had 3x breakfast here. The first time, we were early so no waiting time. The 2nd and 3rd time there was a queue and you had to register electronically. It was quite a long waiting time. The breakfast diner area is not big, so they also served in the next door mexican restaurant. to be honest I did not like this. The food overall was good. Portion size too much. They could serve less and lower the price. I asked for toast and eggs and bacon, all were sides. This was served at separate small plates and I did not get a plate. Not so handy. The place is too busy and does not have the capacity if the hotel is full. But there is nothing else around, if you dont want to drive somewhere. Staff is friendly, but I think they were understaffed and I understand the problem with staffing at the moment.

Delicious and accommodating. Convenient if you're staying on hotel circle. The food wasn't very hot, but still tasted very good.

Everyone should try this place! We were staying down the road and came here for breakfast- the Churro waffle was highly recommended...it was devine! My hubs had the red velvet waffle and it was delicious! We both “plattered” our waffles- 2 eggs, 2 bacon and two sausage. Clean place, happy & helpful staff! Can’t wait to go back!

Had a great experience over the past weekend, we ordered the Fried Chicken and Churro Waffles and Chicken Fried Steak and Mini Waffles. It was all DELICIOUS. The service was great too.

Had Denver omelet and hash browns and tiny waffles (could have had toast but, hey, it's the "Waffle Spot"). Enjoyed it all. Real good hash browns. I ordered some to go back to our room.

A classic 50-60's style diner. We were staying at the Kings Inn, so we had breakfast here 4 times. Consistently delicious, with great service. Very affordable. The mascots are equal parts cute and hilarous!

Family orientated restaurant .. Good big portions and the food didn't disappoint. Handy location if you are staying in hotel circle

I had the pecan waffle combo with 2 eggs, 2 sausage, and 2 bacon strips. It was delicious and filling and with the hotel discount of 10% very reasonable comparing it to other breakfast venues in San Diego.

Typical breakfast treats in a small friendly restaurant inside the Kings Inn. We tried many dishes over a three day stay and enjoyed all of them.

The food here was absolutely delicious, and they give large portions for a reasonable price. The staff is extremely friendly, the food came out fairly quickly, and it tasted absolutely amazing. Would definitely go here again next time in San Diego.

Stayed at the Kings Inn a really nice little hotel with the attached Waffle Spot. The first morning i went to have breakfast with my daughter there was a 30 minute wait but we didn’t have that much time. I went solo before i left for the airport the next day. So glad i did! Sat at the counter and was served coffee immediately. Everyone was really friendly who worked there. Had the pecan waffle and it was delicious. Pecans in the waffle and a handful on top. It was light and fluffy, and i tried my hardest to finish it but it was too much for me. Will definitely be back!

Located inside the Kings Inn. Great place to eat breakfast before heading out to your San Diego adventure.

Big portions and great food! I loved the chicken and waffles!!!!! they also have many Mexican food options as well which I will need to try next time :)

We live in San Diego and have been coming here for years. I love pancakes and waffles and have had them at many places both locally and out of town and even out of the country. I think these are the best waffles I’ve ever had - they are made to order, not frozen, and the malt flour makes them so flavorful, I don’t even use syrup! They often have a waffle special too. The omelet with cheese, avocado and house made salsa is fantastic. Get the mini waffles instead of toast and the hash brown instead of home fries. My son isn’t a breakfast eater and loves the Green Bay grilled cheese and the French fries which are really, really good. We always go at 11 am so he can have lunch and his brother can have breakfast (a waffle). And all the Mexican food is delicious! And salsa is homemade. Staff is nice and friendly and many of them have been there for years.

Conveniently located but the coffee is awful, the atmosphere is noisy, the food was ok, better then Crust Kitchen which isn't really saying much. Love the hotel here though.

They have great food ... u need to try the waffles! YUMMY :) , All the food is good. We definitely will go back

One of the many reasons we stay at the Kings Inn when we visit San Diego is The Waffle Spot. The dining room has a friendly feel and the staff treats you like a next door neighbor. There are always daily specials and the chef is more than willing to accommodate for special diets ( Vegan ) The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The waffles are a must, mini version, or extra large. Come hungry and go away satisfied!

Mr. Waffle invites you to gorge on fabulous blueberry waffles, and every other possible breakfast food, including some Mexican dishes. Even the oatmeal is good, with raisins and brown sugar on the side. Gets pretty busy on weekends.

My meal and food service was great. The size of my meal was more than enough for one setting. I took half to go. I can't wait for the whole restaurant is used again. And the hours are cut. But it seems like more than enough customers to have longer hours. My first day, there was a hour wait, so I went across the street. and grabbed a liquor store packaged sandwich with was made by the other restaurant next door. They ended up getting more of my food money that the hotel I was staying in. And I know I was not the only guest that did that. I was told my more that 3 groups to go next door.

Wow food was awesome and it was so affordable. Their waffles are amazing and let me just say how friendly servers are especially Vicky. If you are visiting and don’t want to go to a chain restaurant come eat at this place your family will appreciate it

Whilst staying at the king Inn we had breakfast at the onsite breakfast restaurant- the Waffle Spot. Severed by Paula we had perfect service with a smile 😀😀. Waffle’s and coffee were great and set up for the day

This was a busy place but was seated within a couple minutes. A little pricey for breakfast entrees. I didnt think the waffles were really anything special in flavor. The wait staff were excellent.

I am not a breakfast person but let me say, I would Love to dine here for breakfast forever. This is the place!!! The silverware and coffee cups are perfectly clean and spotless. The coffee was just as delicious with strength and the waitresses are so nice. I will eat here again and again.

We had a group of 5 adults and 1 1/2 kids (2yr & 5mo) and we had an excellent experience at the Waffle Spot! I had the baja California omelette, my daughter had the pecan waffle, my son and son in law had the chicken fried steak and eggs, my daughter in law had the eggs, bacon and waffle, my grandson had pancakes! Everything was excellent, from the food to the service! We have been trying new places every time we go to San Diego, so this place is a keeper on our short list and will visit there again real soon!

Went in for brunch, and really enjoyed it. Lots of good food on the plate, and prices were decent. Staff, also were very good. They had the lobby area all decorated for Xmas., and looked so pretty.

Great food and great service but being brits portion size was big for us so had to leave some. Tasted lovely and waitress helped us decide what to get.

While I was in San Diego, I stayed at the Kings Inn which houses the Waffle Spot which was really convenient for me. I went to the Waffle Spot just about every morning for the whole week I was there. I tried something different every day. The waffles were delicious but I also liked their breakfast sandwich, French toast, and pancakes. The service was great and the staff was friendly. I got a discount because I was a guest at the hotel so that was really nice. From what I understand, it is a very popular spot. Most days I got there right around the time they opened but one morning I got there at around 8 and there was a wait (and I was travelling solo so there wasn’t even enough room for one more person). It was worth the wait, though.

Fun place with a royal waffle theme, pastel colors, friendly staff, great food. You get 10% if staying at Kings Inn, where it is located.

Ask for Paula. She is really the best. Hard worker and really works hard to make your experience pleasant. The food is really good. Prices are super fair and portions are very large. Plus Paula makes the best chocolate milk ever ( said my son) lol.

Simple diner experience. I was able to get gluten free waffles made for me. (This is not celiac safe, but worked with my wheat intolerance) I had the Belgian waffle, eggs and bacon. Hubby had a skillet. .

There may be restaurants which includes breakfast with the price of the room. I will usually book one of these hotels when I'm not visiting in San Diego. However, I LOVE the waffle spot, the staff is friendly and efficient. The breakfast very good and filling.

This is a must eat at place for breakfast. Great food and good portions. the pecan waffles are over the moon.

The waffles are toasty brown and full of flavor. Many different choices of waffles, all with sides of meat and eggs. Ask about the Waffle of the Month.Prices reasonable. Expect to wait but its worth it.Plenty to eat on one portion.

Fair prices, huge selection, big portions, very friendly staff, cute retro decor. They even have some brunch beverage options available.

Delightful ending to a trip to San Diego when group I was traveling with wanted traditional American breakfast. What a great find!!! We stepped into the Waffle Spot and we stepped back in time to the days of motor hotels with in-house restaurants. You'll find true retro diner ambiance here in a freshly decorated, remodeled "motel" lobby. Their staff was friendly and welcoming and most customers seemed to be locals who know the quality of this local gem. We had the Baja omelette ... very good, but the mini waffles were AMAZING! Definitely hit the SPOT!!! (Also, I asked to see a room in the hotel and was delighted to see a nicely appointed room w/ 2 queens, clean fresh white bedding, travel themed throw pillows, clean modern room, updated bathroom (though small) ... looks like a wonderful place to stay and at a great price and great food downstairs ... bfast, lunch, and dinner ... Waffle Spot on 1 side and Amigos on the other, a Mexican restaurant that I'm guessing boasts the same great food and service.

The omelette, country potatoes and hash browns were soaked in oil. The waffles were a bit overcooked to our taste but they were still nice.

Fresh waffle with banana and walnuts, could not ask for more, I was very full at the end too. Plenty of coffee. The place was busy but plenty of staff, and waiting times were minimal.

Great food for breakfast! We loved eating here and stopped in twice on our recent visit; if you get the right server, they can be really great, but it wasn't so of every server. During one visit, our server just disappeared for a very long time.

Awesome place .... Great waffle .... Very friendly people .... Great service with genuine smile and wonderful personalities ... I highly recommend it ..

This is a great little breakfast place. Very convenient to several hotels and spacious and clean. Best of all is the food - outstanding waffles and much much more. You will leave here FULL. And the service is quick and friendly.

We were staying at the King's Inn and stopped at the Waffle Spot for a late morning breakfast. We had a 20 minute wait for a table, but it was SO worth it. We were fortunate to get a booth in the bright breakfast dining area where we were warmly greeted by the staff. We were poured cups of great tasting coffee and had the opportunity to see the menu with many different choices. My son had a breakfast burrito that was amazing! My husband and I both got the California omelets. The sauce and avocado on top of the omelets was perfect! My husband got the breakfast potatoes, and they were so well seasoned. This was one of our most favorite breakfasts ever. Wherever you might be in San Diego, the drive to the Waffle Spot is worth it!

We ate breakfast here 1 morning because we had kids eat free coupons. It is convenient when staying at the hotel, but the food was just ok. The waffles were very dense and doughy, we prefer light and fluffy waffles. They are very busy, so just be prepared for a wait time.

I enjoyed it there but it is not as hype up as "everyone" is saying. Food was good, not great, service was ok, not the best. the atmosphere is quiet and I feel its a bit cramped. Nothing too fancy in this place, serving was just enough.

You forget you're in the big city by the friendly greeting you get from the host and the waitresses. Now I know this is an out of favor term, but the two ladies in there waiting on patrons were jet propelled goddesses of the Golden Age of Diners, Greasy Spoons, and neighborhood coffee shops. They had good humored snark for each other and for us! We loved the banter and cheerful vibe. Waiting for our order to arrive, we laughed at the creative art of children who executed bright, vibrant art while they waited for their orders to arrive. A more impressive art gallery of precocious drawers and colorers you would be hard pressed to find. By the way, the waffles and pancakes rock. Way too much to eat at one setting, it was old time breakfast done very, very right. And surprisingly, the coffee was good, too.

I am not understating that. This is an over the top breakfast and lunch palce located in the Kings Inn Hotel on Hotel Circle south. Fresh food served in delicious usual and unusual combinations. Great Coffee. Good service. Comfortable seats. The special waffles look great and based on how much they were ordered, must taste great. I had a more traditional breakfast, which was still way better than average. Toast was hot, thick and delicious. Pricing is very reasonable, and if you are staying at the kings inn they give you a 10% coupon. Ask at the front desk and try to get a coupon. Do eat here. Nice decor and good food make a staple in San Diego Actual visit is August 2018 the new version of the app brought this up again. I previously did this review and submitted it I don’t know why it’s coming up again but I am doing this now to clear this out of my app

Waffle house is located in Kings Inn so it is very convenient if you are staying at hotel and you will receive a 10% discount. Friendly staff and reasonably priced breakfast offerings with good portion sizes. Great place to eat with kids. The only down side is the restaurant is a little small inside and it gets busy, so you often have to wait to get seated. Other than that, if you like waffles, pancakes or breakfast foods, this is a great place to eat.

It was a wait to get in with many travelers enjoying the leisure mood of this Cafe. There were certainly plenty of choices on the menu to satisfy anyone's taste. I chose the Eggs Waffle Benidicts with country potatos. I think it was an excellent choice. The waffles were thich and fluffy with a good malty taste. The poached eggs were cooked just right with LOTS of runny yolks. And the Holendaise sauce was hot and flowing. All that yolk and sauce got stopped up by the country potatos. All to make a good, filling breakfast. If like to complain about the other diners who tied up a table long after they were finished eating while many waited in line to be seated. But it would do no good as it was not the restaurants fault. So here is my review Picture just as they should be.

Went to this restaurant during the evening hours listed on this website. It is NOT open at night. Instead, the space is a Mexican restaurant (which was pretty good). Also, the neighborhood is not walkable. If you go here, drive

Classic breakfast place. During COVID they are only serving out of one restaurant. Do you don’t get the same ambiance but the food is just as good. The Waffle Spot draws a lot of locals as well as tourists. When you arrive check in and put your name down. Due to the small dining room and social distancing the wait might be longer. You can scan the menu outside so once inside your ready to order. The menu features eggs, waffles, and other classic breakfast favorites. You won’t get anything unique or special here. The food is fresh and well prepared. If your staying in the hotel I’d recommend calling and ordering take out. It will be less social interactions and will save you time. You could also eat in the pool area. Ample parking out front. Staff is friendly. They have a few hand sanitizer stations inside.

So we were staying at Kings Inn and went to breakfast at Waffle Spot. Which is on the premises. My husband got the blue berry waffle and I got the banana walnut waffle. They were very good and filling. And because we were staying at the Kings Inn all we had to do was show them our room key and we got 10% off our bill.

This was a place we stumbled into by accident. Staying at one of the nearby hotels my family and I were walking around and saw a waffle king standing outside. How could you not want to take a closer look. I asked a friend of mine from SD if she was familiar with the restaurant. By word of mouth the name travels but she had not tried them yet. I figure why not if the name has traveled by word of mouth it must be a good hope in the wall breakfast spot right!? When we walked in we were instantly greeted by smiling faces. When were were being seated our hostess asked if we had ever been here, and our response a simple no. She let us know to take a good long look at the menu before ordering and ask our server for help. In my head I'm thinking how complicated can this menu be right!? My jaw practically dropped. There was a huge variety of waffle options I was stuck between three. My family as well were stumped. Everything just sounded delicious and the restaurant smelled just as tasty. As food came out to the tables around us I noticed the portion sizes were massive. Our server came by after awhile to help us with our menu and suggested since it was three of us at our table and we were all stumped on what to pick to each order something different and share it with each other and make a mini waffle buffet. That was the best idea we all ordered something a little different and shared. The portion sizes were so large I almost didn't finish mine after sampling everyone else's waffles. This will now be my only breakfast spot in San Diego. The food was very fresh and delicious and also very filling. I was not ready to eat dinner until roughly 9pm and that was ok. The customer service was also beyond incredible. The decor was covered by drawings of the waffle king made by it's many visitors. We decided to add our own legacy to the wall and Drew our own version of the waffle king as well.

We stayed on Hotel Circle and saw the sign for this breakfast place. If it has Waffle in the name we always give it a shot. The restaurant is part of the Kings Inn. It has a retro decor with tables, booths, and bar seating. Really cute place. The menu was large with many breakfast options. We all had waffles with side of eggs /meat and they were very good. Waitress was attentive. All in all a good experience.

We were waiting to check into our hotel. This was the closest restaurant to us. We got seated kind of quickly. We sat for a while and ordered waters and they never came back. They finally took our order and we got the French dip. And a house salad. When the food finally came the salad was missing cheese and croutons and the French dip was missing the Aujou which makes up the whole French dip. The French dip was good and flavor was actually really tasty and so was the ranch.

I stayed at a nearby hotel whose restaurant didn't open in time, so I walked over to this place (hiding in a rather nondescript hotel). I'm not a big waffle fan, but they had a great selection of breakfasts. I had a Canadian bacon and eggs breakfast, and asked them to burn the hash browns (I like 'em crispy). And they did! I ordered the waffles instead of toast, and what they brought were two tiny, roughly muffin-size malt waffles. Just about a perfect complement to all the salty/fried food on the main plate. Service was OK, and overall, I had a very pleasant experience. I'd come back if I were anywhere close.

The wait was long which tells you about the place. It was a holiday weekend so we had a forty min. wait but would wait that long again, it is that good.

Not too many choices for meals in this area. When we entered, we were told there would be a wait. When we weren't willing to give a cell phone number, we were shown immediately to a table. Menu was usual breakfast/lunch fare. Our server happened to see our room key and then offered us a discount on the food, but not the coffee.

This place was excellent for breakfast. The omelets were large and fluffy. They were served with potatoes and mini waffles which were fantastic. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Overall a great breakfast spot!

Really good food, lots of variety. Truly a hidden gem in an old fashion diner stile. The atmosphere was really nice and it was surprisingly busy but we were still able to get a seat.

The restaurant was super crowded so they opened the adjoining restaurant and seated us. The waitress recommended the churros waffles and it was SOOOO delicious!

This is how breakfast in America is done. There aren't enough superlatives to do the place justice. Just what you need in the A.M

All I can say was YUMMY!!! Staff was great, and great deal for your dollar at the restaurant. Chicken Fried Steal.. the bomb

Nice breakfast restaurant located at Kings Inn. Nice portions for the price with fast service and friendly

We are making this Family Tradition. If we're going to San Diego, we're going to the Waffle Spot. The Great staff was friendly. The server told of about some great places to visit!

I was staying at a nearby hotel and was meeting a friend for breakfast. I googled "breakfast in the area" and this popped up. After reading they had a churro waffle I was sold. And it did not disappoint. Cute lil diner hidden in a hotel. Their waffle mascot "Sir Wafflelot" was a cute touch. The whole staff was super nice. Can't wait to go back when in the area.

Ate there two mornings and had excellent service with good food both times. The restaurant does get busy so go early if you can.

Came here because we were staying at the King's Inn. We got a 10% discount because of it. Not too many breakfast choices in the area, unless you get in your car and drive 10 minutes. They had a staff shortage issue and we had to wait for our server to show up. At least we went early enough, so the wait wasn't terrible. If we had come later, we would be waiting much longer. Prices are higher than average, and food was okay. I had eggs and a waffle of course. Music playing was way too loud for so early in the morning.

I came here with a party of 8 after checking out the wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor. This place was so delicious and reasonable. Prices were right in line with what I pay back home on the east coast. I ordered some sort of pecan waffle special of the day, which also included eggs and bacon for $9.95. I wish I got our waitress’s name because she was a really pleasant, attentive woman! Overall, we absolutely loved this place!

Excellent food and service! An unassuming place from the outside, it’s actually in a hotel lobby, and has expanded into the Mexican restaurant. The servings were generous and very tasty. Omelets were huge and great, waffles were very good. Our server Roman was very timely and helpful. Prices were very affordable in a pricey SOCAL part of the country. Would most definitely go back.

First of all was told 20 to 30 minute wait. It was over an hour!! Then got seated in the sun. Sat for 5 minutes before someone came over and asked what we wanted to drink. Told him we were ready to order he said he only does the drinks. Finally got to order. Food was ok. Not anything special. Will not waste my time here again.

I had breakfast each am in the Waffle House - pancakes were yummy. Other dishes were excellent. I liked the convenience of this restaurant, being part of the King's Inn buildings.

One of my favorites for 20 years, changed personnel and now the worst service ever. Had to leave and went first time to D.Z. Akins had a better chicken and waffles and service was incredible

It's so outdated that I can't begin to explain what they (management) need to do to this restaurant, but update, update, update.

I am responding to the reviewer two weeks ago who wrote, "It's so outdated that I can't begin to explain what they (management) need to do to this restaurant, but update, update, update." But, But, but.... that is the whole point... it's a 1950s time capsule diner which complements the Kings Inn 50s time capsule. My daughter and I enjoyed our two breakfasts at the Waffle Spot. It wasn't exotic Peruvian, French or Georgian cuisine, nor anything besides a 50s diner. Judge this restaurant in its own genera. Such places are becoming harder to find. Regarding the food, it is nothing special. My waffles were dry both times but the eggs and potatoes were fine. Given the restaurant's name they really should use a less dry batter. Maybe try an America's Test Kitchen batter recipe? Being generous, the food is only 2-3 stars but the ambience is 4 stars. Thematic congruence with the Kings Inn + convenience for hotel guests wins over food quality in my review. Thanks for the time capsule experience.

This place is amazing for breakfast. The menu is full of tasty options. The food comes out in good time, the portions are super generous and really delicious. The staff are all great. If you need another reason to stay you get 10% off if your staying in Kings inn. Love this place

Great breakfast at a reasonable price! I'm Southern born and bread, so I love grits. But one thing I'm grateful to my Northern brethren for is breakfast potatoes. The country potatoes at The Waffle Spot are the best I've had. Waffles are good too, as was everything else on my plate. Our server, Paula, was the bomb. Love the retro feel. Ate here twice during our stay.

Chicken and waffles. Lovely but drumstick bbn pink and cold. So I didnt finish that. Then got to the thigh- even worse. Server took chicken away said she would get another cooked. 20 minutes later, still no chicken. Paid and left. Disappointing because the venue is lovely. Turkey sandwich was delicious but cold pink chicken.... not on!

Excellent hidden gem for breakfast. Great food, and wonderful service. Small hidden in retro hotel but well worth it.

Here's another reliable breakfast spot, located in Hotel Circle at The Kings Inn. Used to be a stand alone establishment as far back as 25 years ago. Another place you can count on at Hotel circle to get a good breakfast. Descent menu with descent prices.

Great breakfast. Small diner atmosphere, so there is a wait but well worth it. Great food and excellent service. This was a bright spot on a dull business trip.

Full disclosure: we only ordered breakfast here. We had waffles, pancakes, hashbrowns, eggs, meat. We ate here 6 days straight. The only thing I didn't care for was the coffee, but taste buds are so subjective. One day our OJ was tasting a little past the date. The food and service was super! If we lived in San Diego, this place would totally be our breakfast spot. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great choices and friendly service. Very popular, often a 10 to 20 minute wait especially around 9.30a.m.

Great place for breakfast. Friendly fast service and the food was good. The waffle selection is great - great spot for a family

Stayed right there in the Kings Inn and walked over 3 of the 5 mornings we stayed in San Diego. Great food and great for kids!

Stopped here on a family vacation for breakfast. Service was very good, food was just ok. I would eat here again but would not make a point of going there again.

Waffle spot offers a full breakfast menu including omelettes, waffles, eggs, and breakfast meats. I got a gluten-free waffle which was very good, crispy and golden with a fluffy texture. As far as I could tell a waffle was the only gluten-free option - I didn't see any gluten-free breads. My friend got the bacon waffle and we wouldn't recommend that one. It had a little too much bacon flavoring.

Wife and I split a signature dish, their Waffle Benedict. Two mini waffles, two Canadian bacon and poached, a small side of potatoes. coffee,a small OJ, and a small milk. $30. Quantity was sufficient for two, Bennie was OK, waffle tasty, Bennie sauce sweet rather than a hint of lemon. Service good, staff friendly if not real attentive. Had to keep asking for coffee, :-( Walking distance from several hotels on the South Hotel Circle. Breakfast until 1 PM, them Mexican food.
Great Food, Great Service, Won't leave Hungry!!!
I wasn't sure I wanted to wait in a line for breakfast at a hotel restaurant - but WOW!!! sure glad i did. The Food was so good and excellent service to back it up. Only "problem" I had was not hungry all day after eating such a good breakfast LOL. I came back 2 times and all my experiences were the same - the best Breakfast food and Great service! TY Waffle Spot!! See you soon!
