Weekday Supper Club: great for families

By roclarke |

As parents of a toddler, my husband and I rarely get the "grown-up" dining experience when we eat out. But The Warbler is brilliant for families with young kids: the early Supper Club offered Mon-Fri, lets you eat delicious beautifully prepared food, drink wonderful cocktails, and not be made to feel that your child is ruining people's dinner. What a great idea and a fantastic way to make families feel welcome. The food is pretty uniformly excellent. I especially liked butternut beignets and the avocado strawberry salad. Everything was flavorful and interesting, even the dessert staple of brownies and ice cream was given added pizazz and deliciousness by the peanut butter brittle and banana ice cream. I also really appreciated how excellent the service was, and the degree to which children were welcomed.

New Favorite!

By rachelle1625 |

Happy to have this new restaurant pop up in the neighborhood. Went with a group of people, ordering 12 different dishes. We shared them all like tapas, and it was all delicious. They have more entree style dishes as well. Cocktails are solid, as well as the service. Excited to come back for date night.

It’s popular for a reason

By Debbie B |

We really enjoyed the food and cocktails and the restaurant design is comfortable and stylish. It’s not too noisy so you can hear your conversation. We enjoyed a delicious burger and pork belly and black bean nachos. Can’t wait to try the peanut butter brownie next time.

Finally a winner

This location has been a lot of places. I love the vibe of the Warbler. Drinks are amazing, menu changes and it delicious. Just a gem in Lincoln Square. I was here for drinks at the bar this last visit and had such a fun night! Spanish summer white was delish!

Tasty food, attentive service

By Andrea F |

My friend and I had dinner. The mushroom soup was flavorful. We also had the cauliflower, chicken wings and asparagus flatbread. Each item was delicious. My only criticism is the high noise level.

Not your parent's "Supper Club"

By Feldmen |

Simply Fantastic. Definately try the Supper Club...$29/person from 4-6 pm Mon-Fri. You won't be disappointed, and it's a great way to try a variety of foods. Our server was very helpful in making our selections. We chose the kale salad (this may be the best I've had), chicken wings, cheese ravioli, mushroom flatbread (by this point we were getting really full), and apple crisp for dessert. We were seeing a show across the street at the Old Town Music School, so the location could not have been better. 6 stars.

Enjoyable, easygoing, reasonably priced for dinner date at bar; HINT: arrive early if you don't have a reservation

By MichaelTheWanderer |

My wife and I really enjoyed stopping in for a quick dinner. Enjoyable restaurant with interesting wines by the glass and very good food. We arrived at 6:30 PM on a Tuesday night. Even at that time, without a reservation, we had to wait briefly for a spot at the bar; when we left at 7:30 PM, several people were waiting for seating. Interesting mix of dishes with interesting flavors. We shared the Eggplant (Asian style), Falafel (Middle Eastern style), and Mussels (Belgium or French style). The dishes were great. The friendly bartenders let me compare a couple of wines before committing to a glass. All in, with two glasses of wine (and no dessert), our total with tip was $88.

Delightful neighborhood restaurant near downtown.

Family dinner in early June, we were treated to a visit to the Warbler. New to the area and busy early in the eventing. Inside and outside seating (this summer), interesting menu which on this evening showed some Asian influence. Everything is freshly prepared and locally sourced. Menu changes seasonally.

Great Food and Drinks

By SeasonedFoodie |

We love to hang out at this local place and just eat at the bar—and so does everyone else! So if you want that experience, come early or you’ll wait. They also have tables, but it’s not the same interaction. The bar area is always buzzing with conversation. The bartenders are super friendly and the food and drinks come out pretty fast. So, come on over to Lincoln Square and check out The Warbler!

Another winner in Lincoln Square!

First time to this restaurant and I am already planning a return trip. Very nicely done remodel and the food and service were excellent! I might recommend the fried artichokes for an appetizer - they were amazing!

Migrate over to The Warbler

By Marilyn F. |

I can't say enough good things about The Warbler. The food was fantastic, the service attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere lively without being nuts! They have a nice outdoor patio, but we chose to eat inside, and since it was before 6 p.m., we went for the $29/person, four-course meal. The mussels in coconut curry sauce were plump and flavorful (though I would have preferred a chunk of bread to the grilled bread slices for dipping), the mushroom flatbread fabulous, and the arugula salad refreshing. The carrot cake could have been more carroty, but it was still good. Best of all was the Tanager, a tequila cocktail that was as unique as it was delicious. The wine list is manageable and good (I had the Fruili). The meal price was eminently fair. There is street parking and a city lot nearby, but it's also just off the Brown line at Western. The only thing missing is a drink named for a warbler!

Excellent is an understatement

By on-the-go-300 |

Everything about my experience at The Warbler was absolutely delightful. My husband and I dined on a Saturday night. Every detail from decor to cocktails, food and staff was perfect. I think the chef may be a culinary genius-seriously. Every single thing we had (and we had a lot) was beyond delicious. I suggest ordering the artichokes as an appetizer. Definitely have the green beans and the fresh pasta. The servings are large, so sharing is the way to go. It will be difficult, but try to save room for the amazing brownie and carrot cake desserts. I cannot wait for my next visit!

Really good food at fair prices.

Excellent food and fun dishes to share. Pizza is excellent and salads are great. Nice selection to choose from on menu. Loved being in back room. Noise level was much better.

Nice dinners

By Tony J |

The Warbler and Gather are adjacent to each other. They both have the same owners. I have been to Gather three times and enjoyed my dinners there. I thought I should give the Warbler a try. I am glad I did. I visited the Warbler now two times for dinner including most recently. Both times my party of two had an early reservation at around 5:30pm. The first time we were seated immediately at a nice corner table adjacent to the wall overlooking the bar area. The second time we had a table in the middle of the restaurant. As you can see from my pics, my favorite cocktail here is my Purple Martin, which is made from rye whiskey, allspice dram, lemon-basil, fresh orange, lime and beet juice. Both times we enjoyed the early bird special for only $25, which is a terrific value. You order a bunch of shared small plates. Both times we received so much food, which we could not finish all of them. Both times we left with leftovers. I especially enjoyed the chicken wings both times. The curried flat bread was very interesting. Our most recent bill for the two of us was $105 less gratuities. (#21) Stephanie accommodated all of our table needs including our doggie boxes. Both times, all leftovers were packaged nicely in cardboard boxes.

We enjoyed the food, the ambiance,

By Karin Dittmar Miller |

We enjoyed the food, the ambiance, and the service. Cat, our server, truly enhanced our experience. Nice 70’s vibe interior design. Open kitchen. Inventive menu, but feels like home.

Delicious food. Delightful patio area. Supper club special.

By joaniemaria |

We ate outside on the patio on a beautiful evening. We ordered the shared family style supper club special. We had chicken sausage flatbread, chopped salad, pork nachos, artichokes, and apple crisp with coffee for our dessert. I had a gin and tonic. All were delicious and were proportioned for three people. I recommend. Be sure to have a reservation. We had a 5:15pm reservation on a Friday and the place was packed full! I would definitely eat there again. We parked free on the street about a block away. There is a paid parking lot right next to the restaurant. It is right next door to Gather restaurant.

Semi-precious

By DJMXX |

Very creative foods, great presentation and clever use of space. There are 4 very different-feeling sections in this railroad-style restaurant (long and thin). We moved from the very open main area between the bar and the kitchen to the more cozy banquettes with kitchen view. We arrived at 6:00 on a Wednesday night and there were more families with young kids than we expected. The food is well plated and the menu extremely eclectic. We were given more recommendations from our waiter than there were dishes but I give him credit for recommending the most delicious, dry, crisp white wine, LA CAPRANERA (in Italian it means Black Goat). He was also very attentive in keeping our glasses filled. The 4 of us shared the sweet corn flat bread, a pasta, the grilled broccoli, chicken wings and the huge plate of carrot cake with ice cream for dessert and all had plenty to eat. The flavor can combos were unusual and mostly worked. Worth a trip.

Wonderful Bites

By Grace A |

This is the sister to the Gathering so we had to try it. They have a lovely bar area, small intimate dining room where we sat just, & just opened the outside dining area. Our server was David & we had Great service. Their drinks are fun & named after Birds which makes sense as the Warbler is a kind of bird. Foodwise, we liked most of what we tried: 2 Veggie Dishes: Crispy Cauliflower & Roasted Carrots - wonderful flavors & so fresh, very respectful of the products. Tortellini - amazing, perfectly cooked pasta & so tasty! wanted more.... 2 Flatbreads: Ck sausage & Carne Asada - homemade dough but weren't spectacular, ck sausage was tangy & tasted ok, the beef was spicy, a nice surprise Crab & Green Papaya salad - not good, just bland, little crab, boring. Nachos & Fried pork belly - sounded better than it tasted, maybe we were full. Skillet Cookie - Favorite!!! Decadent, we should have had this for appztr & dessert, twice, that good!!! Come & Try it!

Really good food!

By Zaide7 |

Very charming atmosphere, great service and a varied and delicious menu. Went there on a Tuesday night with a 6:00 reservation and we were seated immediately. By the time we left, the place was packed.

Something for every gourmand (or gourmet)

By jrbarrows B |

Located on picturesque old street in North Chi-town, this busy spot did more than warble - it cawed, hooted, gobbled and crowed. A lively (filled with happy eaters enjoying exuberant conversations) long, narrow setting (with the bar at the front) the menu offered a refined list of things that would appeal to all sorts of diets (caveman, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, gourmands or gourmets). Service friendly, prompt and helpful. I'm guessing you'd want a res unless you're just a single or couple willing to sit at the bar and wait your turn. A happy and fulfilling place to be.

Fun, hip and delicious

By Scott M |

Wonderful service by Stephanie! We had the mussels with garlic, butter and leeks, and the mussels were very nice, along with bread for dipping. The crispy cauliflower with cashews, sesame seeds and pickled red onion was very flavorful, and the butternut beignets with brussels sprouts, sage and cinnamon were a treat. Finished the meal with the fantastic bacon and ramp flatbread and the mushroom agnolotti, which were so delicious we almost ordered a second helping. Cool drink menu and draft list as well.

Not a Family Restaurant

By Bridget S |

Do not recommend this restaurant for families. Please think twice before supporting. My daughter was crying and we were making every effort to calm her. A manager came to our table and said we would have to leave due to her behavior. We were not able to finish our wine or dinner. There was a better way to manage the situation on their end but clearly their staff lacks any empathy and common sense.

Total amazing flavors and experience!

By Shawn P |

This place is just amazing; I'll want to go here again next trip to Chicago. The host was extremely kind and very patient and didn't even blink when we asked to sit outside. The food choices are just great and four of us had the following and each was better than the last: Chicken wings, a roasted pear salad - which was my favorite, crispy cauliflower (so good), charred broccoli, and Hawaiian flatbread. We were full but my husband still wanted the skillet cookie with ice cream. So many good choices and the flavors just wonderful for each dish. Service was great and we were not rushed in anyway. They do have an early bird option which also looks great.

The Warbler Doesn't Recycle Glass!

By David C |

I asked a manager if the Warbler recycles glass bottles and they said no. I was sitting next to a few large parties that must have gone through four to five wine bottles. So wasteful! I love the vegetarian options at this restaurant, but it is unethical to not recycle. I will not be back. Please do better! It's 2025!

Amazing food!

By Adi A |

We ordered a lot from the menu! Every dish was simply amazing with a lot of flavors. We were 6 couples and we had an amazing evening. service and food were great!

Terrific food with exceptional service

By Debbie V |

Dinner here was exceptional as was our server. We started with the crispy cauliflower with ponzu glaze. It is easily shared and was really delicious. I had mussels while others had agnolotti and flat bread pizza. All perfect. The cocktails are equally well made. Highly recommend. Only downside is that the noise level is high.

family-style supper club

By Tony J |

As you can see I have been here many times mostly for their early bird supper club dinner for only $25. Their family-style supper club is available 4:30-6:00pm Monday-Friday. Our table can choose a selection of five dishes from their regular dinner offering including one salad, any two appetizers, vegetable dishes or house made pastas and their favorite flatbread. Their menu is friendly enough for children, but elevated so that the adults will truly enjoy it too. Kids nine and under are complimentary! We had a 5:30pm dinner reservation. The four of us had a nice center table. I started with my usual purple martin for $11. We always enjoy our shared our arugula salad with whipped ricotta, pickled fennel, marinated olives, lemon vinaigrette, roasted walnuts and herbed croutons. We also always enjoy their Korean style chicken wings with tamari glaze and sesame seeds. We also enjoyed our English pea risotto with mascarpone, spring garlic and parmesan crisp. I also enjoyed my second purple martin and my robin also for $11. Our food only cost $100, but the rest were our cocktails and wine. My total bill less gratuities was $246. Our server Brittnay accommodated our table nicely. We will continue to return here for their early bird dinner and try to drink less.

Delicious and cozy dinner!

By MutualFun |

Our group of 5 had a booth with a view into the open kitchen. We shared the Crispy Cauliflower as appetizer which was yummy. For dinner, had the Cedar Planked Salmon with blood orange and citrus puree...delicious! Other entrees were the Crispy Falafel with tasty sumac onions and the Burger, which was a double patty with light sauce in-between. Great service by Maddie. Hope to return soon!

Pretty good place!

By jeannieburke37 |

4 of us, celebrating a birthday. We drove in from the burbs. More mushrooms on the menu than I expected to see. But all family members would return. It 's loud but, hey, how many places aren't?

Really outstanding service

By Nancy V |

Really outstanding service, staff and food. Well deserving of their Michelin star rating. We were lucky enough to score a table next to the kitchen and were able to see Chef Ken and staff in action! Loved watching the good natured camaraderie that lead to such efficiency and care for each dish as it left the kitchen. Menu is eclectic and fun with something for everybody. Special note to Griffin (maitre de) and our server, Adam... it was a busy Saturday night, and you made it look easy!

Great service & food!

By Darcy N |

A friend of mine chose this spot and it was wonderful! The setting is a little tight depending on your table, but the service is terrific and the food is a cool variety of delicious choices! The drinks were great and the atmosphere is also cool!

Unneighborly Neighborhood Joint

By Resort04443171647 |

New to the neighborhood and initially on first visit loved the atmosphere and food. Have had one good experience and three mediocre - all three I could sum up by what I call “success syndrome” which is attitude of “we’re very busy and you’ll do it our way and wait until we get to you to serve you - we don’t adjust to accommodate our guests and we don’t have time to wow you”. I think it might depend on who you interact with - I’ve experienced indifferent, very busy attitude from host on phone, bartender while waiting for table and server who took about 15 minutes to greet us and then fawned over the table next to us because he knew them but maybe just bad luck. Not going to try again. Too many other places with great service. Go to Gather next door. Owned by same company and totally gracious, good service - so weird.

Outstanding experience

By fellowtraveler13 |

We sat outside on a summer Saturday evening avoiding excessive noise. The food was delicious, the service great. In addition, the prices were quite reasonable. Flatbreads were especially good as were the appetizers.

Great dinner

By DisneyDad21 |

Sat outside on patio, perfect night for dining outside. Flatbreads were great, as were the salads. Unique menu, hard to make decisions. Very friendly and attentive, can tell people that work here really stand by their product.

Obsessed! My favorite restaurant in Chicago.

By Ashley |

When I found out the owners of Gather were opening a new concept, the Warbler, next door, I was ecstatic. The Warbler has already become my favorite place to dine in Lincoln Square. Heck, in my opinion, it's one of the best restaurants in Chicago. The food is incredible. I love that the Warbler's menu features many shareable items. That's my style of dining and they make it easy to try many things from their menu in one sitting. The decor and ambience inside and out is warm and inviting, yet super stylish. The cocktails are great, so plan to start your dining experience with a drink. From there, you really can't go wrong with this menu. My personal favorite items so far have been the chicken wings, mussels, broccoli and the carne asada flatbread. Their pastas are all homemade and extremely well composed and balanced. Save room for dessert! The peanut butter brownie is a must — it even comes with a banana ice cream.

FABULOUS FOOD

By Susan g |

from appetizers to main course, the food was delicious! the staff so friendly and helpful with suggestions! homemade pasta, interesting and new ways to prepare vegetables--i can't wait to visit my son in chicago to return. also, great attitude with children--everyone made to feel welcome--come to san diego and open !

Nice, kid friendly neighborhood spot

By ChicagoOnthego |

Warbler is a comfortable gathering spot on Lincoln across from the Old Town School. The menu is both small bites, flatbreads and a half dozen larger entrees. There's a bar and the cocktails looked great though I didn't sample. The redone space is lovely and the back room is flooded with light from a glass wall. When we ate there, it appeared an extensive patio was under construction. To be honest, the mussels were good, not great. The portion size was modest and the broth uninspired. Salmon entree was delicious. Well seasoned and perfect. We had the cauliflower which was also very good. Highlight of the night was dessert. The brownie sundae is big enough for two or three to share and left us fat and happy.

Delicious, Creative, and Clean Food!

By Darcy N |

The Warbler has wonderful food. I always enjoy and savor every last bite. On Monday - Thursday, they have a early supper club from 4-6. It is $25 per person and you can select several courses from the menu for all to share. You won't be disappointed.

Great New Restaurant Next to Gather

By David Z |

Next door to and brought to you by the same folks at Gather, this is another gem that is a must visit in Chicago. Sure to be a rising star. Went with my family and we tried at least one thing from each part of the menu and shared like tapas. Each item excelled and it was hard to pick a favorite. The Chef and his staff are outstanding with an equally great serving staff. Highly recommend the fried artichoke hearts, fried cauliflower, and any of the flatbreads. Great place for vegetarians. Outdoor seating coming soon and possibly a Saturday brunch.

Excellent!

By nugrape |

We had Fusilli, Roasted Salmon and Falafel, all were prepared well, served at the right temperature, and the portions were just right. We felt the price was perfect for the portion size.

Departure from ordinary

By Frank K |

If you are looking for food that is creative and tasty then Warbler is the place for you. If you like alfresco dining there are 120 covered patio seats. We started the dinner off with cocktails cleverly named for different birds. We ordered the Kookaburra( rum & cherry liqueur) and tanager (vodka & sorrow) which tasted as interesting as their title. The draft beer Allabash was very refreshing and tasty. We shared several plates which were all different and delicious. We shared several dishes: Nachos, the best we have ever had; chicken sausage flatbread; fusilli(a spiral pasta); cedar roasted salmon. All these had a unique flavor which added to the dining experience. With all the restaurants in Lincoln Square Village you can’t go wrong roosting at Warbler.

Another nice family dinner

By Tony J |

As you can see from my past reviews, I always enjoy the Supper Club here for $25 per adult. Children are for free. My family of five including my daughter’s two-year old arrived at 5:30 for our dinner reservation. We were seated immediately. As you can see from my pics we were seated at a nice booth in the rear of the restaurant overlooking the kitchen area. This time I enjoyed my “The Robin” cocktail for $11 followed by a “Purple Martin” cocktail also for $11. We shared a bottle of Pellegrino for $6. We always order the chicken wings here, which is my favorite. We all enjoyed our other shared dishes. Stephanie served our table nicely. My total bill was $196 less gratuities. Our dinner only cost $100, while the remainder of $96 was for our cocktails. We all agreed we will continue to return here for the Supper Club. As an alternative to the Warbler I also like the recently opened similarly priced Swift & Sons Tavern.

Interesting Small Plates; Great Service

By Debora P |

As the title explains, everything we ordered at The Warbler was interesting AND delicious. Four of us ordered only small plates (& drinks) for our dinner. We all enjoy experimenting with many different dishes rather than just a hunk of meat, poultry or fish. We ordered and enjoyed: mussels, brandade, chicken wings, asparagus, baby artichoke hearts and... Everything came out hot and sumptuous; we thoroughly enjoyed every dish. FYI, there are also more basic entrees; i.e. burgers, steak and salmon. Our server was efficient, professional and charming. Although the dining room was a little noisy, we could still chat without yelling. As I said, the small plates were interesting but approachable--no hummingbird lips or goat eyeballs. Three in our party had wine; I ordered and enjoyed a delicious mojito (it was a very warm night in Chicago and the mojito was cold and refreshing). The Warbler is located in Lincoln Square on the North Side of my favorite city. Lincoln Square is home to many eclectic restaurants, bars, bakeries and shops. We go there often to meet friends for dinner although it's about 30 minutes from our home in the northern suburbs. Try The Warbler; we'll be back soon.

Delicious!

By Kate W |

I went here for a group party and loved it. A definite hipster vibe but totally approachable for non-hipsters, too. The food is delicious. I'm a vegetarian and normally ignore pasta dishes, but the ones at The Warbler are legitimate delicious. And the cauliflower!!! So good. They also have a tasty drink menu.

Terrible customer service

By Donna E |

I tried to get a gift card for a birthday celebration. This is my sister’favorite restaurant in Chicago. I called and emailed several times to give them payment for the gift card. I never got a call back. The manager even promised to call me after the lunch rush and process the gift card. I never got a phone call. So disappointed in this establishment.
