We came here for a work happy hour and Breanna, our waitress, was so warm and friendly! The food was great and the support staff, Hannah, Lauren, Zhane, Lamar and Asia did so much to support the group. The drinks are good and served in nice glassware. The ambience is nice, especially the outdoor patio. There is a new plaza nearby and it really makes the space nice. Will be back!

2 of us came for breakfast on Sunday morning. Our food was great and came out promptly. Our server Dontay was excellent and attentive.

I arrived tired and hungry last night (10.25.23) and OLIVIA took care of me just before the restaurant stopped serving. She didn't rush me, and accomodated all my pesky requests for no salt, hot please, etc etc.. This is a solid hotel restaurant and bar, with a great vibe :)

The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was delicious but the icing on the cake was our server Dontay! Dontay went out of his way to make sure our experience was wonderful. He was the perfect combination of attentive but not overbearing and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made spot on recommendations- the French Quarter was an exceptional drink ! I will be back and will hope that Dontay is here when i return! A must visit and ask for Dontay!

We ate on the patio so it was a lovely evening. The Restaurant Week menu was quite good and we enjoyed a delicious meal. The service was good. Would definitely return. The location is great, right in the heart of Philly.

Olivia was a true five star waitress. She addressed every need we had and could answer multitudes of questions on the menu. She really is top notch!

This was my first time dining at the Wayward. I was recommended by a friend after I had moved to the city. Hannah S. took care of me and my friends and gave some of the best service I have had at a restaurant. The food was great and she made sure to check on us and made sure that we were not only enjoying our meals but ourselves.

In the super cute Canopy hotel. We stopped by for some pre dinner drinks and were given excellent service by Dontay. The drinks were delicious, especially the "Weary Traveler" and "The French Quarter." Highly recommended

Delicious food! I had the roast chicken that came with the most delectable pommes lyonnaise. So tasty I wanted to lick the bowl. Service was amazing- Olivia was fast, friendly and accommodating! 10/10 recommend!!

Wonderful Mediterranean eatery! The whole evening was fantastic as my husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary by dining here. Everything seemed perfect for a memorable evening, including the great cuisine and the cozy, welcoming ambiance. We loved it so much that we even had the leftovers for breakfast at our hotel the next morning. I am eager to return again.

Foot was awesome and Dante was amazing! Very good. Order an old fashion! Fantastic! Food was cooked well and not too much! 100% recommend this place!

Came here with my family for my birthday weekend. We stayed at the canopy and it was unfortunately raining. We decided to stay in and try the wayward so we didn't have to go anywhere. It turned out to be a great decision. The food was definitely worth the visit. I had the steak frittes, the fried oyster app (was so good)! Our host Olivia, suggested drinks which we're fantastic! I was very impressed by our host Olivia. She was very attentive, got all our orders correct, and her suggestions were on point. I have absolutely no complaints about our visit. I would definitely recommend this place for their food, their friendly staff, and our host Olivia. Thank you for such a great experience. See you soon!

I want to first say the best thing about the restaurant. Donte’s service was excellent. He made sure he checked on us frequently and we wanted for nothing. The ambiance is beautiful. The music was on point surprisingly. The food was to bougie for me! The salmon was tasty and the lamb was good. The sides weren’t. The menu was small and odd. Again the menu was too bougie for me. I would definitely go for drinks or desert.

stopped in for a quick HH bite before my shift and from start to finish had an amazing experience! The interior decor is stunning, every corner more beautiful than the last! The bar is gorgeous as well! Dontay was my server and he was incredible! Very attentive, made excellent recommendations and truly felt he went above and beyond!! Unfortunately because I was on my way to work I couldn’t get one of their delicious cocktails but Dontay took care of me and asked the bartender to make me a cocktail and it was spectacular! Definitely make sure you stop in and ask for Dontay! You’ll be in great hands!

Always delicious and interesting food! Service was great too. Thank you, Dontay! We just came in for dessert and cappuccinos tonight. Had the croissant-donut and the cheesecake. Both unique and exciting.

We popped into The Wayward right before the kitchen closed and Olivia was happy to see us. She seated us with a smile and assured us the kitchen was still open. Turns out we had a great meal, the atmosphere was perfect and the service was five stars!

Dantay is absolutely the best waiter I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!! He is fantastic. He was attentive, friendly, warm, accommodating. What a lovely person and lovely addition to The Wayward. To be honest, my positive experience was made so entirely by him. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are only as good as they are because of this lovely and professional soul. He deserves a pay raise!! When I shook my head to his drink offer but he saw that my husband was having a beer, he sweetly offered to brink me a mocktail; he had a perfect read on us all evening. Otherwise he was so kind and nice to talk to - this man goes above and beyond. We’re planning on staying here for six more days and I guarantee we will be back to The Wayward at least 2-3 more times purely because of Dantay. He just made our night with his exceptional service and warm smile.

Great service - Dante is the best! Fabulous food and drinks - as well as atmosphere!!! Salads are yummy. While menu does designate gluten free, staff is willing to ensure accommodations.

Olivia is the shining pinnacle of what humanity should be. At no point in my divine meal did anything go awry. Not just that, but the meal was heightened to an extent comparable to Heaven. In fact, if I died mid-meal, I’d make them send me back to finish this divine dining experience. Olivia is my St. Peter and The Wayward is my otherworldly utopia.

A classy, stay-in option for those who’ve either just arrived to Philly or stopping in on their way elsewhere. The service, food and cocktails are quite good. Ask for Olivia, she was awesome; helped us with snack and drink options, was very attentive and friendly. As hotel restaurant bars go, the Wayward is as straightforward an option as you can pick.

Had the French onion soup and the kale and pear salad. Soup was lukewarm but tasty. Salad was very good. Nice atmosphere with optional outdoor seating. Service was very good.

Lauren, is a stunning and crucial member of the canopy/ wayward team. She goes above and beyond to make sure her bar patrons are taken care of and her lemon drop… No words.

Great happy hour with an excellent selection of spirits. Top notch whiskey and cocktails. Great snacks to munch on as well while you enjoy a drink. We sat outside on the patio as the weather was nice and it was a pleasant experience. The indoor seating is great too if you prefer that. We were staying in the adjourning hotel & it rained for two days. We ended up having two breakfasts & a dinner at The Wayward. Breakfast were a cut above a typical hotel breakfast & not outrageously overpriced. However, the service was pretty inattentive despite the place being mostly empty. The food at dinner was quite good--both the Salmon & the Steak Frites were tasty & well cooked. We also had very attentive & pleasant service at dinner. Would recommend even if not staying at the Canopy Hotel.

I’ve been to the wayward many times in the past few years it’s always been my favorite spot. However the last time I went I was blown out of the water by my server who I made sure to get her name Olivia S. I came in after a terrible day at work and her attitude and smiling face turned my day around. She stopped and asked how my day was and I ranted to this lovely girl about everything that had gone wrong. She was so sweet. Between drinks and food I had never be served at such perfect timing. Appetizer was done, main was out. Few sips left of my drink she was on it. She’s got the attitude and passion of this industry to take her far. I will most certainly be back to the wayward to eats and drink and will be requesting olivia from here on out!

First timer at the Wayward and had a wonderful experience. I had the breakfast sandwich which was super delicious and our server Caydie was a delight. Super friendly and made sure we were taken care of. Definitely will be back soon!

This is my new favorite place! I just moved to the city and was trying to find new places in the city to try. I work mornings so I can not be there for their brunch (which I’m dying to try). I went for dinner and we had Hannah S for our waitress and she was basically my new best friend. She was polite, professional, sweet and a great server overall. No complaints. I normally never give reviews but I couldn’t sleep at night if I didn’t. 100/10!

I went here with a few friends the other night. We had the oysters and shrimp for appetizers. Both were fine, well-presented, and served in sufficient quanity. For dinner, and I'll only comment on my meals, I had the poached pear salad and butternut squash soup. Both were only marginally good. The salad was dull, no tang. The argula was a bit old, maybe. The soup had very little taste. I don't recommend ordering it. For dinner I had the Sweet Potago Gnocchi. It was disappointing. Texture was fine, taste unremarkable. My Manhattan's, I had two, were only ok. Not well prepared. My coffee was good. Service was friendly, though slow, and the wait staff did not seem to be well educated about the offerings at this restauant. Nothing was terrible about the restaurant, but given it's relatively high price, everything, but the coffee, was only reasonably good to medicore. I would not recommend going here, there are too many better alternatives within walking distance of The Wayward.

Fantastic tucked away restaurant with incredible ambiance, very attentive and caring staff (Dontay was the best!!), and good food. Drinks were well crafted and tasty! Dontay provided us with top tier service, the best reccos, and made this experience 5 stars.

I walked in to the restaurant area and asked if I could sit at the bar to enjoy a quiet brunch. I was greeted immediately with a warm smile and inviting charm by Lauren. She was attentive and tried extensively to find a channel with highlights of the women’s World Cup. I asked for a brunch mocktail and she made me something her mom created, calling it the “Fort Washington” - delicious! I had my breakfast sandwhich with delightful conversation. Make sure to check out this place and and say hello to Lauren - she’s an incredible mixologist!

The restaurant is very bougie and nice. Higher priced but they offer things that you can’t get everywhere. We spent a lot of time at the bar and loved the bartender we had both nights (Friday and Saturday). We never got his name but he was muscular and had forearm tattoos. He made great drinks and was very friendly, approachable, and had a great rapport with the guests.

Dante was an incredibly attentive waiter who made the experience ever better. The food was amazing and the dessert was the highlight of the night. The restaurant is so cozy and elegant looking.

Our waiter, Dontay, was delightful, made wonderful drink recommendations, and the vegetable dishes were phenomenal. The sweet potato gnocchi was wonderful, the acorn squash melted in your mouth, and the golden beets were tastefully arranged and quite delicious. On top of that, the desserts we ordered were wonderful, and it was difficult to refrain from ordering three, only tempered by the fact that I was already quite full at this point. The only damper on the evening was that the lamb chop I ordered was a poor cut with a significant proportion of cartilage and bone overwhelming the meat, and, possibly because of the cut, overcooked and dry. The port reduction and spices almost salvaged it, but it couldn't quite cross the finish. I would love to come again, though I would be more particular about my meat choice, because I do love a well-made lamb piece.

This was definitely a unique dining experience! Located inside the Canopy by Hilton hotel, the Wayward offers delicious cocktails (try one of the French 75's) and a full menu complete with oysters, steak and frites, and branzino. The decor is stylish and artful, and the service was stellar. We will be back to try breakfast and the gorgeous outdoor dining option!!!

We had steak frites and shrimp cocktails. The shrimp was not as fresh as expected and the cocktail sauce tasted like it came from a 10-lb can. We both ordered medium steaks, but mine was a little over and hers was just rare. The food was tasty, but overall just average. The service was solid - we were greeted quickly, and our server was attentive. Not a terrible visit, just could have been better! The patio was great on a mild October evening.

Stopped in on a work trip and couldn’t have been more pleased with the visit. The atmosphere is very cool, hip but not overbearing. I had the gumbo as a starter and the mussels for dinner. Both were excellent. What really made the night though was our server, Dontay. Dontay knew the menu, made excellent recommendations, and had an infectiously positive attitude. His desire to ensure we had a great visit felt authentic and refreshing. Would rate the evening 10 stars if I could!

The food and service were terrific. I had the lamb ragout with acorn squash. However the restaurant was in the hotel lobby without any walls separating it from the restaurant. A DJ was in the lobby playing loud music with a thumping bass. We were seated as far away from the music as possible, but still could not enjoy our meal or talk with each other.

Every course was delicious and Dontay was amazingly helpful and so polite, we loved our experience here!

I visited The Wayward Restaurant and Bar in downtown Philadelphia on Wednesdays for Sips as a regular patron. I enjoyed the food, it was delicious. My friend thought the cocktails were interesting and she enjoyed them as well. Angel-manager Asia- hostess Dontay- server Lamar - bartender Sherwin - bartender Everyone that I listed are professional and courteous. They have exceptional diversity skills. This is a GREAT place to go. The dj name DJ Spinatra is the best dj in the tri state area. He was lit.

The Wayward is such a cool restaurant with unique menu and great drinks. My friends and I came in for Happy Hour, my server Olivia and her coworker Dantay tried their best to be accommodating. It was a great dining experience, highly recommend!

Quiet atmosphere. Lamar did a great job with suggestions from the menu and wine list. One person had the house salad with chicken and the other person had the beet salad with salmon. We both enjoyed our lunch. As an appetizer we had fried artichokes which were very tasty.

Came to Wayward with 3 friends for a birthday during Labor Day Weekend. The space itself was beautiful and clean set the tone for a fun night. My group ordered salads, burgers, Mac N Cheese, mussels & fries, etc. Everyone was very happy with their meals, their cocktails, and also extremely happy with our server, Dontay. He took the time to review our questions and even helped to make my friend’s birthday special with a customized dessert. It was refreshing to have such a positive dining experience. I hope other Philadelphians catch on and support this great spot!

The restaurant is closed you can only choose from a limited menu in bar area. Waited a long time for service. The OG cocktail was good, but that’s the only good thing I can say.

We had a hard time finding this restaurant and had a giggle at the rap music playing (not exactly characteristic of a French restaurant) but the food and service were a welcome surprise. Our server, Olivia, was very attentive to my husband's food allergy, and the gnocchi and farmer's cheese plate were awesome. The ambience could use an upgrade but overall this was a very good experience.

Had a wonderful meal here after spending all day traveling. This place is great for late night diners. Everything I had was well executed. The boudin blanc was served with the skin crispy, and the mushrooms and spinach that accompanied it weren’t overly seasoned, adding freshness to the dish over all. Service is attentive without being overbearing. My server, Olivia, made my experience outstanding, she was warm and checked in at just the right moments.

Dontay is an amazing Server. He is Very attentive and caring. This is a sexy spot for a good meal and superb customer service.

I spent the first weekend of Feb 2021 at the hotel and celebrated an anniversary at The Wayward on 2/4. The food and drinks were excellent, but the standout from the evening was the level of service and hospitality shown by our server, Molly (oh god, I really hope that was her name. I had a LOT to drink that night). Molly was super knowledgeable about gin - I work in uppity F&B myself and I was very impressed by her familiarity of the drinks menu and her recommendations to my partner, who was new to gin. Since I must have been an old lady in my past life, I'm comfortable with the different types of gin notes/flavors/whatever buzzwords they like to use these days to sell product. Her recommendations of Arnaud's (cognac, lemon, bubbly) and Do You Want More (gin, limoncello, pernod, bubbly) after our martinis were excellent. As for food - we started off with the bigger seafood tower (very reasonable price compared to NYC) and was treated to complimentary glasses of bubbly as we were enjoying an anniversary. Wanted to keep it low-key, but I guess people don't order the big seafood tower on a regular Thursday. It was a lovely touch to a lovely evening. The oysters were amazing - the pickled shallot (was it pickled shallot? My senses were soaring and I got LIT 30 minutes in) was a great addition atop the buttery oysters, which were not at all briny and tasted very fresh. The mussels were not my favorite, but my partner polished those off. The crudo was also pretty good, but forgettable as at that point, I was preoccupied with gin. We supplemented our order with Brussels sprouts (in a slightly sweet glaze of fermented garlic and honey) and their version of croquembouche (donuts from next door with creme pat and thick runny caramel instead of choux and caramel threads), but honestly, the most memorable thing were the oysters and the drinks. The donuts almost felt a bit too heavy compared to everything else we had consumed, but I'm a glutton so I shoved it in my face with reckless abandon. COVID-19 really affected our industry and while my biggest priority was to stay safe and socially distanced, I really wanted to have a nice quiet evening out with my partner in one of our favorite cities. The Wayward was pretty empty on that Thursday night (Friday was PACKED since the temperature hit low 50s) and I felt comfortable enough to forget for a moment how gross 2020 was and for a hot second, everything seemed as it used to be. Thank you so much to The Wayward and the lovely Molly for making our evening so special.

Staff were pleasant enough but service was amateurish. Oysters were not fresh, very poorly shucked; chicken was very dry. Wine was overprice. $60/head for 10 people with 1 drink each. Definitely not worth the money.

With every place you go using COVID as an excuse to give subpar service ignore issues the Warward was a great surprise and the family loved it. The bar staff was very friendly and engaging (I will say $8 x 4 for kiddie cocktails is a little much, even with a great smile). The service staff was also very attentive and really seemed like they enjoyed being there and taking care of customers. We had several appetizers including Oysters which were great and Steak Frites. The Frites are spectacular.

I love going to The Wayward for a quick and lowkey happy hour. I went during Sips and they had a great DJ playing. I was catching up with a friend, Dontay was our server and he was super helpful with figuring out what to order for the vibe and very attentive. Would definitely go back

We stopped at the Wayward for a unique experience. The atmosphere was lovely, it was a perfect summer night and our waiter Dontay was spectacular! He gave awesome recommendations and was very attentive! The food was delicious! Would visit again!

My wife and I stopped in for an early dinner based upon the high Trip Advisor rating. We walked in and weren't greeted by anyone - no hostess, no waiters, no bartender to be seen. We stood around for several minutes before returning to the lobby and asking the person at the hotel front desk about this. She got on the phone and a short while later someone came in to the back bar from a back room. Despite the fact that we were standing in the middle of the bar area, obviously waiting for service, he completely ignored us. I asked if we should seat ourselves and he brusquely says "yeah, seat yourself!" with a dismissive wave. At this point I had had enough and replied "forget this" followed by a mildly profane description of the bartender to the front desk clerk as we left. When you combine rudeness and a limited menu, how this restaurant is this highly rated is impossible to comprehend - I suspect shill ratings. You can do much better elsewhere.

This place was bloody awful! Four of us went for dinner before theater on Saturday. The charcuterie appetizer consisted of two crackers and some gray meat on a very small plate. The $10 bread service was two very small rolls. Two of us had the steak, They were barely mediocre. Had to hunt down a server to get a fork and a steak knife. Service was not good either. We recommend avoiding this awful place.

We were at a business dinner at the Wayward and we were taken care of by Dontey. He was amazing ! We at first wanted to only have drinks in the lounge area and Dontey was happy to take care of us here and then move us to a table for dinner. We decided to stay in the lounge area for dinner and he easily accommodated us! We appreciated the quick and friendly service and will definitely come back soon!

Great gIn joint with great food and vibe! Decor and plant wall and drinks were great. Steak Frittes and Truffle Mac and Cheese were very solidly brassiere and solid. Dante took excellent care of us and we very much enjoyed our meal.

i've eaten here on occasion, but i primarily come for the bar. the french 75 is one of my favorite cocktails and the wayward has a number of fun twists on the classic drink. lamar, the bartender, is wonderful - super friendly and knowledgeable and will happily throw something (delicious) together if you let him know what spirits and flavors you're in the mood for. the food i've tried is also really good - the frites are delicious as are the brussel sprouts, but the food menu isn't super expansive. the service and drinks are delicious - give the wayward a try!

Okay - so I was looking forward to this as reviews were excellent! Unfortunately our experience did not match the reviews. They must have been having an off day because the service was wayward. We waited 30 minutes for our food and no one came to check on us. Apparently they had two wedding parties in the hotel that weekend. Food was good, but service not the best. And we had a reservation but they had to cobble tables together and it was like we were at two tables for two rather than a table for four.

This bar/lounge is in the Canopy Hotel in Philadelphia. We are staying at the hotel and were looking for somewhere to eat where we wouldn’t have to leave the hotel. The Wayward is great! First of all, it’s full of Eagles fans here for the Victory Parade. Ben, the bar back, greeted us and gave us a great table. We had the smash burger, fries, and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious.

Dantay very welcoming and patient with our 2 yr old…food good as always). This hotel our favorite when visiting.

We were staying at the canopy hotel and thought we would just have a lazy night in and not leave the hotel. Yet, pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. Olivia was our server and brought a wonderful energy to the table with great recommendations. If you are in the area, do not let this pass you by as just another hotel bar.

Dontay took such good care of me! Sometimes eating alone is awkward but I felt like Dontay went out of his way to make me feel welcome and cared for. I got the gnocchi with lobster and it was amazing! Such a nice, warm, cozy place with great customer service.

Long day of travel. Some difficult interactions to say the least. The Wayward, and Donte in particular, made it worth while. Food and hospitality were excellent. Donte was awesome. Appreciate it.
