Wednesday Night Steak Night

By Paul G |

Very busy most nights of the week. Wednesdays are particularly packed because it is BBQ Steak night - and very cheap. Live music Fri/Sat.

Shockingly bad service

By Epernay |

Ok let's start with a positive, good selection of beers, downside is the arrogance of the service, it's not just shocking but it's embarrassing that people believe this level of service is tolerable. So facts 1, Sunday evening, at the most 50 people in the bar, no one was eating or looked as if they were waiting for food 2, At the bar I asked is food being served, I was informed that if I take a seat we would be served. 2, We took a seat and the waitress took the next tables order then disappeared 3, About 5 mins later she returned and attended to the other table then took our drinks order, drinks arrived and she disappeared without taking food order 4, We waited for 20 minutes and I went to the bar and requested a food order, the waitress came to the table and took the order in a very disinterested manner, we ordered a combo starter and two mains. 5, 15 minutes later the mains turned up followed 30 seconds later by the starter, entree or whatever you wish to call it. We rejected the mains as three meals in one go doesn't really work as a dining experience, subsequently by that time we had concluded that it was a pointless dining experience. 6, I discussed with the manager and to be honest he did not seem to give a damn I wish I could offer a more positive review, it takes a lot for me to post a negative review, I appreciate business can be challenging but to be frank if West End was busy that night then a slower service can be expected but it was just us and one other table dining (two couples). So two waitress's working the floor and the facts and the maths are obvious, this place is not worthy of your business or your hard earned money.

craft brews

By formymoney |

The location is terrible and the parking is valet only - unless you want to walk a long distance and possibly be towed. The bar itself is a wonderful setting for drinks after work. Once the live band begins forget any conversation. Finding parking in a safe location and carpool if you are going to have a group.

Great Atmosphere

By Travel with Meritza |

My first time coming to The West End and it was a pleasant experience. This place was fun to hang out with friends. Perfect for brunch or drinks with friends. They have a very large patio and a huge outdoor grill. I wasn't able to try the BBQ since we arrived quite early but I would definitely go back to try it. The service started a little slow when we walked in there was no one to greet us but once we were sat it was fine. When I'm in Houston again I will visit again! :) A little tip: the mimosa carafe is only ten bucks.

Great spot to meet during happy hour

By TravelWideAndFar |

This place has a wall of jasmine flowers that separate the bar from the street. The flowers are in bloom right now so the aroma wafting into the bar is a nice accent to the place. They serve pretty good bar food, they have a large selection of liquors and beer to choose from. The place is huge with large TVs everywhere. The place is set up like a patio bar everywhere with the majority of it covered. Great place to meet up for drinks.

I very relaxing place

By Mark C |

I went here to watch one of the many NCAA Football Bowl games and met very nice people. This used to be an old Car Wash and they turned it into and indoor/outdoor restaurant. Even in late December, the outside was very nice with heaters all around. You can still smoke here but this was not too bad. They even let you smoke cigars which is nice if you like to relax while smoking. Draft craft beer selection was very good with local and national breweries. I visited twice. The first time I had chicken tacos which were very good and a cheeseburger the second time which was also very good. I will go back if I stay in the Galleria area.

Great Food, Solid Atmosphere

By Matt S |

I decided to come over from the Doubletree for Steak Night. When I first got there, hardly anyone was there, so I chose a table outside. I was greeted promptly and the server informed me that steak night didn't start till 6, so I ordered a beer and relaxed. After I got my beer, I realized by the smell that they had fired up a charcoal grill to cook the food. I was very happy about that! About 5 minutes till 6, the server came around and took my order. The food came out a little while later and it was done just the way I liked. The atmosphere had a chill vibe and it got busier as the night went on. I'd recommend it as a great place to catch up with friends.

Trendy place, great beers

By Promit S |

Had a night off at houston after a business trip and this came up as a place to visit...an i must say i wasnt disappointed Nice open seating (it has an indoor section too)...with large screens showing the ongoing matches. The waitresses are nice and friendly and the beer is just heavenly. I tried a couple of wheat beers and they were awesome! Food was also really nice.

Crazy Bar

By Vinpach |

We didn't eat here, just consumed the alcohol...all kinds of beers for a guy like me. It really had three distinct areas: an outdoor lounge, a band/dance area, and a darker bar in the back for quieter socializing. We spent most of our time in the back, but also saw a great band and walked around and hung out in the lounge area. Good people, good service, and a good time for all. This seemed like a pretty large place, and we all enjoyed it.

Good beer selction

By DeeReeMe |

A wide variety of US and international beers.........with friendly waitresses.......... Shrimp salad was good

Good to have a beer

By Arantza P |

Good place to have a beer an one of the few bars in the area, depends the day you go the kind of music they have. More to go with some friends and have a good talk.

Great Beer

By tlthefireman |

We were in Houston for a night before we sailed for our cruise. The West End was recommended to us by our hotel. I had some great local beers and the food was awesome. The burgers are really good and the portions were excellent

Great place for our group

By JimRector |

Some colleagues and I went here for a departure celebration for one of our co-workers who was moving on to a new opportunity. They easily handled our group of 20+ and kept good track of multiple "tabs" opened by individuals. They were out of the wine I wanted but their "better" chardonnay was pretty good. The food was basic "bar food" but good. I had the chicken tenders and fries. Again, pretty straight forward. Since I'll be moving into the area I see this as a place the wife and I may walk to in the future.

Good for a bite to eat and a late night drink

By CocotheClown2015 |

We were very happy this place is open late, they do great easy food and have a very good range of local beers on tap.

A Great Bar with Great Food

By Availiam |

The bartender was a superstar handler... his attention on the people and filling their glasses when empty. This place has maybe 50 different brews on tap - impressive and I had their flagship grilled Chicken sandwich. I got it to go but put away two pints of Guinness while waiting. Friendly atmosphere and lots of people just having a good time.

Decent place... but the service!!!!!

By TH4TT2010 |

After seated for 20 mins no service. Plenty of staff who just ignored when asked. Desperate for a cool drink went to bar. Sorted straight away, sat with empty glass for 15, back to bar.. two drinks and food order. Sorted straight away. When drinks finished and another 10, went to bar came back food gone!!! Not too chuffed!

Empty but noisy

By Jeffrey L |

I was staying at a nearby hotel and wanted a local bar for a few beers. My hotel shuttle dropped me off at the West End. Outside was pretty crowded and very noisy. It sounded like a bachelorette party. There was lots of smoke and traffic noise. I walked inside the building where there were only two other people at the bar. There's a pretty good beer selection and a pretty nice looking bar menu. A few things I really cannot stand – bartenders that take credit cards when you open a tab and bartenders that seem to have no peripheral vision when your glass is empty. That aside, it probably would've been a decent place to have a beer and sit quietly and reflect on my day, but it just wasn't quite comfortable. The two guys at the bar were noisy, the bartender was slightly inattentive and - eh. Maybe if I had eaten and been there at a different time with better company, I would've had a better experience. When I travel I try to find places that are a bit more local and less corporate. This place is definitely that but I could not see myself hanging out here if I were a Houstonian.

It's About Time!

By MLMD11 |

They really got it right. Best patio in the Galleria, great service and wonderful food. If you leave without trying th fritters, you will regret it! About 10 of us went on a Wednesday night, and to our very pleasant surprise....it was "Steak Night"! 12 ounce rib eye with a loaded baked potato prepared on a pit just outside the front door (thank you, Brian) - and YUM! Perfectly cooked and one of the best steaks I have had in a very long time. Oh - did I mention that it only costs $15?? AMAZING. The wait staff is profesisonal and very friendly and Cody (Manager) kept coming by to be sure everything was fine. Bar was great - wonderful selection of beer, wine , liqour and even some specialty beers that were wonderful. If you are in the Galleria, this place is not to be missed!

Lively bar scene, Good happy hour specials

By Lawrence M |

Huge patio and long outdoor patio bar that was packed and had a great happy hour menu. The regular menu looked very expensive for a bar, but that's to be expected near the Galleria. The inside bar doesn't fit at all as it seems to feel like a run of the mill Irish pub (of course not at all Irish), but the outside section was lively and fun.

Great Food, Fun Place

By Mom_of_Ten |

Excellent food and great service.. Staff was extra friendly and did a great job. We ate filet and baked potato, it was fantastic

Do not expect anything good

By TheaTX |

The only best thing about this place is their patio. the food was terrible we had premade flour tortillas with the worst beef fajitas and chicken fajitas. The patio is great atmosphere don’t expect good service. The only reason I would come back here is to bask in the sun on the patio everything else is not worth it. Never been anywhere where the waitresses have such an attitude

Worst service I've had in ages

By scubadiverh |

We went before the final four because they were signed up to be the alumni spot. Lesson: A business should never sign up for something like this and be understaffed. We promptly got a table. We ordered drinks. We waited. After about 10 minutes I went in and got a round of drinks for our table at the side bar that wasn't staffed (happened to see a manager there who took my order and carried it out for me). We leisurely drank that round. Still no sign of our first order from the waitress. I went in to the main bar to order another round and couldn't get served. Saw the same manager go to the closed bar. She said she'd help in a minute. She poured our beers, sat them down and disappeared for a few minutes. When she came back she realized she had done so and comped that round. At this point, I thanked her and told her we'd had the first round and still hadn't been served outside. When we got back out, the original order had just come about 2 minutes before. There is no excuse for a round of beer to take 45 minutes. We also ordered food that NEVER arrived. Not even the appetizers. We cancelled our food. I was disappointed with them overall. And to top if off, they still charged us for that first round of beer that took 45 minutes to arrive. Mind you, this was after the band and cheerleaders left, and customers were leaving for the game, so it wasn't even the peak time for the event. There is no excuse for service this bad. If you are the official alumni spot for a major event like this, you should have EXTRA staff. What's even worse is that we will be back in September for football, so they had a great opportunity to get repeat business from a very loyal fanbase. The woman I'm assuming was a manager was nice to serve me at the 'closed' bar, but everything else about the service was terrible. Sad because it was a very nice patio with a lot of potential.

Business trip to Houston

By Tony F |

One of the reasons I choose to stay near the Galleria is the bars and clubs in the area and this is one of the establishments that I regularly frequent. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food is of a decent quality (especially when they do barbeque - good steaks!) and the beer is cold. Chill outside on sofas, or watch the game under cover. A good bar for meeting up after work, or having a good night out.

Cool and trendy....

By Dave Y |

Found this place during a morning run and went back to check it out in the evening. Opened in the Spring of 2012. Inside bar with wood floors, big outside bar with tables, couches and tv's under a covered roof and a huge patio on the corner with couches and a few tables. Excellent draft beer selection, an interesting variety of martini's and other specialty cocktails. Kate was our server and for only being her 2nd day, she did a splendid job. It was a perfect evening with the weather and I highly recommend it for a comfy and inviting place to hang out with friends.

Consistent Bar Food and Service

By PearlyW |

I have been hanging out here since this place opened...and now each time I visit Houston. Bartenders and Servers are friendly and engaging - which is hard to come by these days. The garlic Parmesan wings are my favorite, but the burgers are also very good.

Great atmosphere and food

By bjornarhuse |

Visited both at a function, invited by a local company, and came back later because of the great burgers and beer. Super outside patio in the Houston climate

Always out of beer

By LongitudinalShift |

Visited this pub a couple of times in a week as a group of use were staying across the road on business. First night we sat outside and must have been understaffed as service was quite slow. We'd all just flown in and that may have had an effect on the taste buds, but the meals (most chose burgers) were just OK. At least 2 or 3 of the beers on the menu were sold out (and the menu isnt that big) Tried it again a couple of times during the week, simply because others thought it a easy for us. Burgers got better as the week went on, but service went south and think even more beers were off the menu. Place just looks and feels a little tired

It's a bar...

By bugsy554 |

Seemed quite average to me. Was here with a large group and it was very comfortable arrangements. But nothing stood out to me Maybe we weren't here late enough at night. Seemed just like any other bar...

Atmosphere is Great

By Ryan H |

Visited this place while touring Houston and the atmosphere was live. Very chill spot to hang out early evening. Service was awesome but food was mediocre. Had the steak because that was suggested and honestly not that great. The nachos were good and they have a wide variety of beer on tap.

Really good guac!

By Kate L |

Close to my hotel, and their guac was really good. Service was great. They have good specials, changing each day. Fantastic beer selection!

Good Wings in Houston

By Michael J |

I had some good wings here. Atmosphere is good and the place is nice. There is something missing to make it great thou. I can't really tell what. Service was good and prices fair.

Steak night!

By TOSHBLAZE |

Steak night is great, bar tenders could use a hand I got looked over a couple times for faces they were familiar with as I stand at the bar wad of money in hand begging for them to take it.

Nice late morning stop

By Todd B |

Walked here from the JW Marriott on a Sunday (late) morning. The Bloody Mary’s were excellent! We had the sausage/brat plate and loaded fries - both were very good. Restaurant was clean and food arrived hot. Service was friendly but a little slow.

Good food and beer selection, not good service

By julie r |

Sunday night was moderately busy. Had the steak tacos which had great flavor but don't come with anything on the side. Beer selection on draft was reasonable. Would have tried more but couldn't get the server to come over more than once even with an empty beer glass in clear view.

NOISE-NOISE-NOISE - DISRSPECTFUL IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

By max j |

This place is across from sevral hotels in Galleria and they play their music so loud you can hear it in my room at 1AM in the morning. They need to have respect for the nieghbors and don't! Unbelievable., This place needs to be shut down!!!!

Nice Pleasant Bar. Good Feel to the place

By Doug G |

Just had drinks there after dinner downtown. Good service and pleasant atmosphere. The food being served looked pretty good for bar food so will give it a try sometime. Valet parking is about the only option here.

Great food

By Rich L |

Great food, really tasty. Superb value. The beer was good too. The ambience was cool and rustic, will definitely return next month when next in town..!

Hanging out

By carlin o |

Cool place to hang out. I was looking for a place to grab wings or burger and this place was right across from my hotel. Good bartenders, many TVs to watch the games. Its open air but the fans are going and outside temperature was pleasant so it made the restaurant feel perfect. The DJ is playing good music all night and people really came in about 11pm. BTW they close at 2am on weekends

A comfortable place to get good food and drinks

By Lorraine S |

I recently moved to an apartment down the street from this pub/ bar/ restaurant. The outside patio is very pleasant to sit for a beer and burger. My son had a burger that was enormous and he pronounced it very tasty and enjoyed the pickled vegetable accompaniment and the fries. A few of the choices of beer on draft were out of stock, but we managed to find good substitutes. My husband and I each had the chicken tacos and beef tacos respectively and while not providing the same volume of food as the burger plate, we enjoyed them. There are daily specials featuring special prices on burgers, steaks, etc. the ambiance on the patio is very mellow, especially near the fountain. We plan to return tonight for the burger plus pint for $10 special. This will become a reliable neighborhood eatery.

No complaints

By tezzyLeeds |

Went for family celebration. Food was absolutely fantastic. We had party of 12 and not one had a complaint.service spot on and all staff very pleasant ,plates were cleared promptly.after speaking to manager it was clear he had passion for food .portions and taste were great.this management has changed since I went last and they deserve to be supported ,you will not be disappointed. Try the white chocolate cheesecake .exceptional

Great food, Fun Atmosphere ...Horrible service

By 2LSUALUM |

Love this place for the food and atmosphere. Bonus... there is valet parking. Great appetizers...try the cauliflower and pretzel. Steak night is delicious. However, service is really bad! Just be prepared to wait, and wait and wait for everything including drinks, silverware and finally, the check. Based on other reviews, looks like service is the downfall.

Stinky

By Sonia C |

As a neighbor of this place I am disappointed. I was very much looking firward to a bar on my street. The west End is not it. Warm beer, slow erratic service, bad food. Nope, not interested. As a neighbor, I also take offense at their garbage piling up day after day stinking upmthe street. They are just nasty. Maybe they should consult with Truluck's next door: not once have we had any smelly garbage issue with them...

Fun happy hour, but prepare for LOUD music...

By StephanieGee |

This place is casual and fun. Happy hour is great. (Try the jumbo pretzel to go with your drinks.) The service was excellent. My only - only - complaint was that inside or out (lots of tables outside, but there are more inside if you want a break from the heat) the music was way, way, way too loud.

Wednesday night steak

By EdM734 |

Great $16 steak on Wednesday night. Very busy with self seat lead to disorganization and anxiety about getting a table. Good beer and wine selection. Food can at random. 1/2 Main course before appetizers. Lots of confusion with staff. Went back on Friday. Live band and DJ. Much less crowded and better service.

Great little find

By Paul S |

Glad I came across this bar. European beers and a good food menu - although food was average for the price.

Good choice, but I can understand some other reviews

By Jamie D |

First impression walking in was amazing as the smell of grilling steak greets you at the valet. The steaks smell incredible and taste just as good. A nice spice to them, but it does not overpower the steak and drown out the steak flavor. Atmosphere was nice, not extravagant, but decent and it was a nice outdoor feel. Now, looking over the other reviews I can understand one thing. They have a “sit where you’d like” policy. That does appear to cause some issue, as some people may not get the service they need. We were asked by several servers if we had a tab, yet one had never officially been started for us. They worked it out, but it did seem as though maybe there was some confusion about who had what or such. Certainly not something that significantly changed my experience. The steak was delicious for a great price. It would take a lot to overcome that and make it a negative experience.

Nice place

By Mike R |

I read the reviews on Yelp and I was on the fence. However, the hotel I stay at said everyone they send over raved about it. I can see why. Nice beer selection, great service, really nice indoor/outdoor atmosphere, and a nice crowd of people. I just stopped for a few beers to unwind and it was totally relaxing. I was checked on frequently, got some good beer recommendations, and just soaked in the patio ambiance. Nice location, good people, and good vibe.

Begging valet staff!

By kipedwards2016 |

I parked in the self-parking area, due to the fact there were was no one there but myself and 3 co-workers. We stayed for an hour from 4-5pm to have a couple of drinks after work. Came back outside and one of the valet staff members was standing by my car asking me to pay $10 for self-parking. They did not charge my co-workers to valet, but received about $3 from the each of them, which I voluntarily gave them because they didn't have any cash on hand. I told them they could have my change since I self-parked. End up getting in a huge argument with valet staff manager, where she explained to me the bar doesn't pay them and they only get paid on tips. She did not know I paid for my friends and still tipped $5 for self-parking, but she kept on going on and on about how they don't get paid. I understand the struggle, but she should re-negotiate her contract with the bar.

Great bar and food location

By chrisnS5435NO |

Plane was delayed so late arriving to my hotel. This place was within walking distance so I stopped by ordered a beer and burger and both were outstanding. Definitely recommend...great vibe

Good pit stop

By The Whiner Diner |

Dropping off here for a quick drink proved to be a good pit stop. Although it was a quiet evening in that strange period between Christmas and new year, I have it on good authority that this sports bar can get very busy and is popular with the after work crowd. On this occasion the clientele were very laid back and relaxed. There is also an open terrace, for good weather, but plenty of space inside. The beer menu is impressive. I was amazed by the sheer range of beers, and was delighted to see Hoegaarden on tap. They have themed nights which include beer & a burger, tacos & tequila, steak night, seafood special, ribs night and brunch on Sunday. Surely something for everyone, and prices are not extortionate.

Absolutely Delicious

By Aaron A |

I dropped in here to have a quick dinner and didn’t really know what to expect since it has a patio bar type atmosphere in the front. I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few healthy options on the menu. I ordered the chicken kabobs with couscous and roasted brussel sprouts. It was absolutely delicious and the presentation was perfect. I will be back here soon to have this again! Nicely done chef!

Manager Nick Not Professional at ALL

By Mary W |

I visited this restaurant and sent good money here on drinks to watch the Final four basketball game and the waitress was good but her English was not so I wanted to order Tequila so on the menu there was no price for Don Julio 1420. The waitress didn't know the price and told me to pick one. I selected the 1420 and later when the bill came they charged me $18.00 for one shot. I asked for the manager Nick and he began to get very aggressive by telling me I should not have ordered the drinks. I told him that the waitress had no idea to tell me a price she just said to pick one. He was very unprofessional to where as other customers where looking at him make a big stink and I never even raise my voice not did I come at him in any unprofessional way. He then told me I had to leave the West End because he didn't want me there. WOW if this is the way West End treats their customer then I would recommend no one go there. It wasn't like there was a large crowd there watching the NCAA game anyway. I would say there was only maybe about 30 people in the place in the first. I left and went to another place where we were treated better and there was a lot more people there just down the street. The manager Nick should not be a manager if he can not handle customer asking questions about their bill.

This is a Pub?! Sorry, no.

By wineguy999 |

Firstly, this is a Texas ice house (though an expensive one), not a pub. No, really! Google some photos and you'll see the difference. We have too many good pubs in Houston to buy this nonsense. Now that I got that out of my system...the menu is uninspiring, and our server knew little about the food offerings at all - perhaps a little run-down by the kitchen staff wouldn't hurt. The beer list is only so-so, and I can go a more legitimate pub in Houston with better selection. I looked at the wine prices - if you buy wine here, at least the by-the-glass offerings, they should put a gun in your face, because they're ripping you off. I don't mean a little overpriced, I mean robbery - trust me, I know the wholesale cost of them. Want to visit a pub in Houston? Try the Red Lion, Richmond Arms, the Stag's Head, Rudyard's - even Baker Street or the Fox & Hound are more pub-like than this dive.

Great ambiance

By Claude D |

We stayed at the DoubleTree which is just a block away. We went there twice in the evening and sat outside. Once the sun sets, it is not so hot. We only had appetizers and drinks. A good selection of Happy Hour appetizers for about $5 before 7 PM

Steak Night! Live Music and Karaoke

By AnnIrwin |

This place was great fun! We went on Wednesday steak night. The steaks were around $16.00 with a baked potato. Delicious steak! Very tender and flavorful! Our group was drinking beer, lemon drops, and margaritas. The service was incredible and shockingly the steaks were too. By first glance, I never thought the food would be this good. Many brave girls sang karaoke. People were dancing too. Perhaps the alcohol.

Fool me twice

By jazzastro |

We gave this place a second chance after a disappointing first visit and definitely will not return. Waitresses spend most of the time socializing at the bar together. Out of a dozen or so tvs, it seems reasonable that some could be on the local first place Astros but we got a rude no from the waitress and then a bartender who just ignored the request.

NOT a public house (pub)

By tx_design |

If you really want a pub, do yourself a favor and go to the Richmond Arms instead if you're in the neighborhood. Or go to the Petrol Station which isn't too far away up the loop. Beer selection is ok, but the crowd is lame, it's loud and the place has no character. Service was ok, but not great. There's only valet parking and limited street parking which was a problem for our group. I've been to pubs all over the UK, Canada and the west coast and this is definitely NOT a pub.

Lively joint for after work

By Michael R |

Met up at The West End with a local friend while visiting on business, it was near his work place. It's a lively spot for drinks or food. Half is outdoors or under cover for mild weather and half is fully indoors. Many flat screens showing sports programs. Good choices of beverages. Many varieties of brews, and they even had a tempranillo and a malbec by the glass which is unusual for a bar. I stayed for dinner and had the Tex-Mex fish tacos. The fish was deep fried, but the two tacos were tasty with pico de gallo and cilantro crema. There were also a variety of salads and the usual pub foods on the menu. Service was good and prices were reasonable.

Lunch in the sun with raw food

By Foodiehtown |

Food greasy and service terrible and my husband ate his spicy burger and then saw it was raw - not cooked ,,,,

Good spot to watch NFL

By Wade T |

If staying at the Aloft Hotel, just walk across the street to this bar / restaurant. Good food and plenty of screens for watching the football. Good Texas ribs.

Condescending staff, mediocre food

By Jerome |

First time here, was staying in the hotel across the street. From the outside looking in, it appeared to be a restaurant, it isn't and the staff makes sure you are aware it isn't. Walked in, no host/hostess. The bartender, pictured, had a very condescending attitude as I asked about seating and wanting to eat dinner (should have left at that point). Sat down and ordered a beverage and told her that I wanted to eat dinner. Brought me my beverage and then asked me if I wanted to start a tab. I said I am eating dinner and she looked at me as if I was an alien, so I said yes & gave her my credit card. Maybe that have a bunch of people run off without paying, I don't know. Ordered the sliders and the onion rings. The food didn't come out super fast, but it didn't take the kitchen long to get it to me. The sliders were decent at best and the onion rings (should be named tempura rings) were not very good, consisted of about 90% batter. Had to completely finish off my beverage before eye contact was made with me and I was asked if I wanted another round. Once finished I paid my bill and was on my way. Would I come back, no. The bartender was not very nice and the food was just not on point. The prices were cheap and that is what kept this place from getting a terrible rating from me.

Decent, could be great

By Joe S |

The atmosphere was good, outdoor dining area with a fountain and steaks grilling outdoors, just a couple blocks from the Galleria. The service was friendly, but slow, and didn’t look too crowded for a Wednesday. Food was OK, my friends ordered the fish tacos and they were good, I had the steak special and it was average at best. Definitely could be a great place, but just decent tonight.

Great outdoor area

By Chris O |

Visited for work in January so beautiful weather was quite wonderful and wanted to spend the few minutes of free time outdoors, drinks here were great.

Total Disappointment

By Robin S |

My husband was so excited to bring me to steak night at West End. After 40 minutes, I received my fish taco which were okay! The tacos came without my ordered side. I tried to wait for my husband's food, but it never came. The server checked and checked and check and checked and then after three people who came in after us received their steaks, the last check indicated a lost ticket! What the....! My patient husband started to get frustrated. My baked potato came out with his 1:40 minute steak! I don't care how good his steak is, it's not worth the the time waited. At least the manager took care of his meal and paid for another round of drinks! Nice compensation, but still disappointing visit!

Bad service

By 19goSkins |

The food was pretty good. Burger and a beer for $10 on Monday night was a good deal. But the service was extremely poor. The staff rarely checked in, despite us having numerous rounds of drinks.

what??? I can't hear you!

By erinmtn |

LOUD. Food is ok, but go for the happy hour drinks, that's what everyone else does! Service was fine, no complaints there. boisterous, party environment with some sweet outdoor seating.

Nice Pub in the Galleria

By Misty E |

We really enjoyed sitting on the patio at The West End. The bartenders were very friendly and the music selection was a perfect mix of the 90s. Our favorite part is that they are dog friendly. We will definitely be coming back again!

Friendly sports bar with good food

By barrett_d |

We visited three times and ate twice. The third time they had stopped serving but they got us some tacos from the adjacent Mexican food outlet. All good

A good night out!

We were looking for a place for an after-party to a wedding dinner, & this place served our purpose well. The best part is that unlike few places around this part of town, this place stays open till 2am! It has nice, extended patio seating. If you get to sit by the fountain, its especially enjoyable. I got a mojito & thoroughly enjoyed it.

It was close to the hotel and I needed a change of pace so I gave it a shot. Good location but the drinks are overpriced and the wait staff act like if you're not wearing Gucci you're not worth their time. I tipped very well just to show not everyone not wearing Gucci is cheap and it was the only time the waitress was half pleasant. I gather from the crowd there it's a place to be seen to show how cool you are. I'll take a dive any day over this place.

Head West to The West End

By SheffieldMarshall |

Having a great time at The West End. More of a pub feel with BBQ and other foods delivered to your table. I didn't quite like the battered pickle. A bit strange, I thought. Maybe I was hoping it was sausage.

Local bar, with some strange "features"

By dittymau |

Not sure how to describe, but went there with work guys for some beers, from the hotel across the street... And there was no front door, it was raining but you walked in through a curtain, and there were no windows but curtains that held back the rain, but not very well... We had a waitress in training who was very nice but very clueless about beer... Anyway had several beers and some appetizers overall, not impressed. Maybe it's better as a late night beer bar ???

Great Bar And Food

Quite a nice place but terrible credit card management : they

By Gardenhills |

I went their for a drink. They asked for my credit card to keep the table open and hold on to it. When I decided to leave, they told me that they had got my credit card back to another customer who had left !! I explained to them that I had a flight 4 days later and had no other credit card. I needed to get my credit card back asap. I gave them my phone number. They didn't call me. 2 days later I returned to this bar; Another manager welcomed me. He also promised to call me back at 4:30 the same day to let me know what was going on. But I have never received any call !! And so I leave Houston without my credit card... It's is difficult to believe that a restaurant has no clear process to ensure that your credit card won't end in the pocket of another customer. I recommend not to accept to keep a table open process. Moreover, I am very surprised that the manager didn't call me back. This is very irrespectfull and irresponsable (they took my credit card and gave it to an unknown person and then they acted as if the problem was not coming from them !!

This is the place to be

I love this bar. It's a former car wash and very nice remodeled. It is open and you always have fresh air and can therefore smoke everywhere. During daytime you catch the sun on the huge patio. It easy handles 100-200 people or even more. The events with live music are awsome. They offer a huge collection of international and local beers all from the tap. The best is Blond Bomb Shell in my opinion. They have also a runners club starting and ending there. This is my first choice when I'm in Houston.

Food and Beer in the Galleria

By Great_Beer_Now |

Looking for a place in the Galleria area that will satisfy your thirst for craft beer and case of the munchies? One establishment that I have frequented for this purpose is The West End Pub, located on Westheimer road not far from the center of the Galleria action. West End Pub is a medium- sized establishment with indoor and outdoor space and televisions. The outdoor patio is the place to be during favorable weather and this is, in fact, where most guests tend to flock. The inside layout isn’t the best and it’s not as nice as that of other pubs. Therefore I, too, try to sit outside when I visit here. They do not take you to a table. You are free to walk in, scout the place out, and find your own table to sit. West End Pub has a solid beer selection- about 35 taps total. They serve a nice selection of locally brewed beer and other beers. If draft beer isn’t your preference, just ask for a menu and check out the bottled and canned beer options. If you don’t want beer at all, not a problem- they serve cocktails as well. With the food, I find it is okay overall, but nothing special. They serve meals on trays, cutting boards, etc and they do create a nice presentation. But the food, whether it’s a chicken sandwich, tacos, or burger, is mediocre as a whole. The chicken sandwich is too dry and many of the other food options lean toward the bland side. The menu options are limited, too, so don’t come here expecting a multi- page menu. They stick with a few basics. One issue I have had here is with getting consistent service. I have had times when it took a while to get a server’s attention and I have had times when the service was spot- on. As you might expect, I have had the best luck when sitting at the bar. It’s difficult to be ignored when you have a bartender right there, within a quick yell of your voice. West End Pub has a small parking space and Valet parking. The parking costs money on some days, but is free others, so you need to check before you accept. If you don’t want to valet, you will have to find a parking space on a side street and walk. I don’t like paying for parking, but it’s not always easy to find a place to park so don’t be surprised if you’re forced to suck it up and accept the valet service. Finding a pub with a good selection of beer takes some effort and West End Pub easily satisfies as a place for craft beer. The patio is definitely the place to go if you visit and as long as you can handle the average food and inconsistent service, you will find West End Pub is a fairly good way to pass the time.

Nice diner, bar and sit out

By Peter N |

Houston does not have a lot of fun places to hang out. The West End is an exception. Not only is it situated in the easily accessible Galleria area, it actually offers a fun and interesting night out. We went last on a Friday after not having been there for almost two years. The place has grown, expanded and is even more fun. There was a live band that was very good, crossed genres (from rock to pop to urban) and even gave us The Wobble which had us line-dancing. They have decent cocktails as well fairly priced bar food.

Outdoor Dining

By Richard48220 |

It's a Pub/Bar, so a large selection of excellent beers on tap, a full (though limited) bar. Limited menu of pub-fare, heavily towards burgers, sandwiches, fish & chips, and appetizer type things consistent with a bar. One is outdoors even when indoors -- they do not seem to have exterior walls, but do have clear plastic sheets over the walls/windows to block wind & rain, and heaters. Cement floor, very casual. Staff was friendly & helpful. Reasonably priced. Smoking IS permitted, since it's basically outdoor dining, so that may attract some, offend others.

Nice small place

By thequeencole |

We passed this place several times and got curious enough to go in one night. There was a nice atmosphere and the drinks were loaded with liquor. There was not an extensive menu but, we just wanted a started drink and this place served the purpose.

Great Steaks!!!

By Raj S |

We always visit this place when in town on Wednesday's. Great staff, great steaks. Wed is 1/2 price steak night. Beers on the menu are not always available but staff is helpful with alternative suggestions.

Good Value, Good Atmosphere

By Flyingcoachagain |

This is a good break from all of the high-end eateries in the Galleria area. It has a good (but not great) beer selection...and a pretty solid menu. I had the tacos and a Scottish egg. I'd definitely order both again. The majority of the seating is outside which did give this place a fun feel.

Okay bar in the galleria area.. Go for the beers, not the food

By Ciahasher |

This bar/restaurant has been open for a few years now. It is located across the street from the galleria. I look at it as a sports bar more than anything else. It features a large wooden deck which looks out on westheimer road. As such, it can get quite noisy from the traffic. Beer selection is good, but service from the staff is not. They don't seem to be very organized.. they never came to our table so we had to order and pickup from the bar even though some staff was right next to us. ( both food and beer) Don't order their Mexican food. I had their west end tacos.. underwhelming.. another patron told me their nachos are bad too... maybe they do a better job with their burgers... Very little parking unless you go valet.. there is a back street behind the place where you can sometimes find a spot. If you are staying at a hotel nearby and looking for a place to go for a beer or two, it's worth a visit. But there are much nicer places nearby if you are looking for food.

Abusive staff

By Sally292013 |

The bouncer and the valets at West End were so rude and verbally abusive I will never return to this bar again!

Great location

By Debby8863 |

Good food, plenty of drinks to choose from and always some kind of sport to watch. Great service and friendly staff

I live across the street and it's a regular

By I600XTjamesr |

Great appetizer foods, cheese plates, chicken fingers, oysters, etc. Prices are reasonable. The drinks are made extremely strong so be prepared. Great atmosphere and many people go here. Indoor and outdoor. They have a band some nights. It is loud. Great sports lounge. Several hotels in the area and it is within walking distance of the hotels: jw Marriott, Hyatt, Hyatt house, westin Galleria, doubletree suites and the loft hotel.

Great burger

By tleeEvans |

Went in early evening on St Patrick Day. The outside area was full, so we sat in the covered patio area close to the bar. You go in a sit where you want. Service was quick and friendly. We both ordered the hamburger which was very good. I got the grilled vegetables which were also very good, my husband just stayed with the fries the come with the sandwiches, they were not so good. It is a very laid back place where they have several beer to choose from and on the patio you can also choose different cigars to smoke. Fun, causal place with good food.

A favorite Saturday lunchtime spot

By ZanderAustralia |

The West End has a great outdoor bar area, with plenty of fans to keep the air moving and make it pleasant even on the hottest of days. A very good selection of beers and a very good lunch menu. The chicken wings are first class, and I particularly enjoy the Cobb salad.

Convenient location for Galleria

By Thecoastie |

Great spot with outdoor dining area for people watching or mingling. Within walking distance of the many hotels in the Galleria. Also a great place for meeting up after work. They have different drinking and eating specials every day of the week including Taco and Tequila Tuesdays or Burger and Beer Monday. If you haven't been, definitely worth a visit.

Came for the football, stayed for the atmosphere

By Steve T |

First trip to Houston and found the west end after being told it was a good place to watch the NFL. Amazed how relaxed and happy to help the staff were and even after an 11 hour flight the music, football and huge range of drinks kept us all happy and got us onto USA time quickly. Wings and sweet potato fries were excellent but will be back for the 20oz burger!

nice price

By PlainsDrifter575 |

The food and service was good. It is a different environment and it works. You want to go of an evening or night time as it is an open venue. The Houston heat and humidity can get to you in the day time. 10.00 on Monday you get a beer and burger for that price and location i will be back.

Indoor/outdoor sports bar

By katrinacl4 |

We stopped here because of a recommendation from our hotel. We came here specifically to watch a football game. We asked the waitress to change one of the TVs. She tried her hardest but she said the manager told her to tell us that they didn't have the channel. The manager didn't try to change it or anything. And the food we had there was really bad. I would not go back to this bar.

Very pleasant but over priced

By Businessvoyager0 |

The location is great -- pleasant outdoor area. The wait staff were nice and helpful. However, the drinks run $9 which is too much for my taste.

Great special

By DaffyAKL |

Nice mostly outdoor seating, subtle lighting and good music. I had the Monday special, a huge tasty burger and a local beer for ten bucks. Both were great. Service was a little patchy, but overall a good experience

Wide selection of really good beer

By NoraTitt |

The Clockwork Orange theme's a little strange but the beer, food, and service are all very good. The live band on a Friday night draws a fair crowd which adds to the already good atmosphere.

First Time Out

By B6221YRchrish |

I never thought of The West End as a food place, because everyone always raves about the atmosphere and drinks. But the kitchen also deserves some recognition. They made a heck of a good dish last night. I had the fish tacos and you can really taste the freshness of the seafood. That's always a plus to me. I was able to try the chicken kabobs and they were grilled to perfection. I recommend both. To drink I ordered the house sauvignon blanc and it was only $6. Overall I would say The West End is a great value with good food and drinks. And a really nice atmosphere. TIP: If you are inside when the live band is playing it gets really loud. Sit outside and you can still hear the band and your friends.

Wonderful Place

By Grutledge14 |

As a first responder, I was in Houston to assist with Hurricane relief. After a long day, my team and I wanted to have some good food and a cold beverage. Due to proximity to our hotel, we decided to try the West End. The food was great and the beverages were cold. After eating, the waitress and manager asked us why we were in Houston and told us our meals and drinks were on the house for being there helping with relief. We were very appreciative but we tipped the waitress the approximate amount of the meal. I will be back to this establishment and I recommend the wings.

Waitress stole money

By Checkmate26 |

Our waitress over charged us and when I spoke with The manager Lindsay Gregory I was to so you can prove it. The waitress triple tipped herself plus added drinks to our tabs

Game day woes

By Kathy W |

We were there before the Final 4 because it was hosting the OU alumni. They were understaffed and overwhelmed. They had us outside in the patio area. Found an empty table, but no waiter came by. Tried to get a drink at the bar. No luck there either. Finally waved down a waitress that went by to place an order. Very slow service. We got drinks twice at the bar before the waitress came back by. The food was good and giving them a little break for the chaos. On a normal day probably a 4 rating.

Wonderful Surprise

By Debra B |

We like outside places and not fancy. This place was wonderful and laid back. It had a great atmosphere. We hit the Jackpot the night we were there. They had a ribeye and house cut fries that melted in your mouth. It normally was $23 but their special is $10. Hit it on the right night. You can’t lose. Lots of other choices too. We were treated well.

Good beer and atmosphere

By KlinglerGA |

Went this past weekend and had a few drinks, good selection of beers. The patio was nice and had plenty of seating. Service was friendly and timely. Did not eat here so cant review that. Good place for a Happy Hour drink and to hang out with friends.

A bit torn by this review

By DaQi |

Was staying at a nearby hotel and looking for somewhere to eat near the Galleria. Colleague and I went for a walk to see what we could find and there was not much to choose from so we ended up at The West End. We were a bit confused by the place as there seemed to be some event on and no wait staff to be seen. We walked away and then came back again when we saw the outdoor seating. As it was a very pleasant evening we decided that sitting outside would be okay so we grabbed a table and sat down. Our waiter showed up with menus and took our drinks order fairly promptly. As we sat outside we noticed a couple things. There was a lot of cigarette smoke wafting around us. Been a long time since I have had dinner with cigarette smoke around. Then noticed there was a lot of noise from the nearby busy street. We were there on a Tuesday and the special was fish and chips so we both decided to have that. We put our orders in when our drinks arrived and waited, and waited, and waited. Our waitress (changed at some point) came by several times to let us know our order was coming shortly. We noticed other people who arrived after us got their meals. And we waited. Our meals finally arrived and the waitress informed us that the manager was going to comp them - the right thing to do at this point. Apparently our order had been sent to another table accidentally. The fish and chips were excellent. The fish was fresh and nicely flaky inside the batter. The batter itself was quite delicious with a slight spicy kick that was very pleasant. So, what can I say. The beer was good, the food was good, the service not so good but they did the right thing when the problem was discovered. So I am giving it an poor score on that but mainly because of the street noise and cigarette smoke.

Nice place, great outside seating..

By lin_carlo |

We have been here 3 times the last 3 days, staying in the hotel just across the street. One night with guests, 2 nights with the 2 of us..tonight, saturday, I saw on their website that bottles of wine and bubbles are half the price on saturday..so we went there again.. In the bar we were told that this is no longer the case, no offers on drinks, old information they still need to change..we could have 10% of the price of the bottle.. So we picked other drinks..and than the waitress kept bringing drinks without us asking ffor it..and they charged 1 dollar more for cocktails as was priced on the menu..strange.. I am happy this happened the last night of our stay here, because the other nights we really enjoyed this place!

Steak and Fries

By cbgeron |

Went to this restaurant for dinner, great location as it is only a couple of minutes walk from Courtyard. Loved the steak and fries, big serving, steak was tasty and tender.
