The west gate hotel brunch has been one of my favorite places for special occasions.. when I earned my M.D degree, when my husband asked for my hand in marriage to my parents , you get the idea. Sadly today I see that it is declining. For starters there was no hostess, the personal touch is gone. We were supposed to find our reservation on a tablet. Secondly and sadly, the food was cold. Not just the prime rib but even the potatoes, all the bread was cold. At one point my coffee was served cold , I asked my waiter for warm coffee and he gladly brought a warm one. I feel very disappointed on what used to be one my favorite spots.

We've been to the brunch in Le Fontainebleau Room a couple of times and each time we were greeted as if we were special. The pianist is absolutely wonderful and personable playing music that adds to the experience. The food is absolutely delicious with a myriad of dishes to choose from. The ambiance of the restaurant provides for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The service is out of this world. We've been to many brunches, but the one provided at The Westgate Hotel exceeds all others.

Bread, wow bread. I’d go back and just taste the bread, totally top shelf. Great service by detailed and sharp staff. Lunch was great, and the bread, mmm, did I mention the bread. Then dessert, wish I slowed down on the bread, the dessert was a home run. Not sticky too sweet, sweet perfection, bring me another coffee. Valet staff were great. I’ll be back.

Again, a mixed experience, not average, but the categories are what they are. Seven of us met up in the small Plaza Bar for Happy Hour. The cocktails were good for $7 as were the appetizers, which ranged from very small crab cakes to a fair number of Dim Sum. You will need two appetizers to fill up. I cannot imagine paying the regular price, $12, for the cocktails and appetizers though. The bartender projected an air of being put-upon, which is not a good thing. Granted, he had too many tables after the first half hour we were there. But grimness is not a good characteristic in a bartender.

Friendly server, great food, a little slow to arrive but worth the wait.

We were one of only two couples at the hotel restaurant that evening and as such my review is likely biased because we didn't have to compete with anyone for our server's attention. However, that being said, the service here was top notch. I researched all the restaurants in San Diego before our vacation and as a foodie pre-booked everyone before we even arrived on U.S soil! The Westgate made my short list and conveniently it was also where we were staying. Lovely decor- Victorian inspired throughout the hotel. Quiet atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening for two. We were most pleased with our meal. The table side Caesar salad was excellent. My companion had the fish and I had the pasta which was excellent. We tried our first bottle of Mexican wine at this restaurant as we cannot get it easily in Canada and we very much enjoyed it. We were shocked to find out it was the cheapest wine on the wine list! Certainly better than some of the wines I was familiar with that cost at least twice as much. We had a lovely evening.

Convenient to go to before the opera. French restaurant inside. It's fine - I think it's over priced though.

There's no comparison. For $45 you get unlimited champagne/mimosas/bloody marys/margaritas, excellent service, and an outstanding selection of delicious food. This was even better than the last time I was there. Great selection for vegetarians or carnivores. I'd go just for the crepe station. There weren't even any screaming brats nearby! Perfection.

The restaurant is a good place to eat if you don't want to leave the hotel, I have never had a bad meal there.

For food quality, selection and service, this Sunday Brunch cannot be beat...anywhere. Stone Crab Claws, caviar, oysters, rack of lamb...endless. A great value for what you get. A must for anyone visiting or living in San Diego.

One of the most Beautiful hotel we ever stayed in. The rooms were amazing, quiet and clean! We will always stay here on any return trips to San Diego

My wife and I love fresh oysters. There aren't that many restaurants that serve fresh oysters in their Sunday brunch. There were a couple of high-end restaurants in the San Diego area that used to have fresh oyster, but had discontinued since. Out of the blue, she found a link on OpenTable that shows this restaurant. We decided to take me out for my birthday at this restaurant. I was in heaven! The oysters were served with a minonnette sauce. There were also jumbo cocktail shrimps, sushi, clams, and craw fishes at their seafood station. In the carving station, there were beautifully seasoned and roasted prime-rib (as good as those served in the House-of-Prime-Rib in San Francisco, but that is another review). The desert collection is unbelievable... I can go on and on. Of course, this place is not cheap, but worth every dollar.

For a more formal breakfast.or early morning business meet. Extremely attentive experienced personal service. Small room maybe 40 seats with menu a la carte( great eggs Benedict varieties) plus two table buffet available.Worth it!

Dinner at the Westgate always promises a lo ely evening and so we know that when we host guests for the opera and reserve a table at the Westgate for dinner, we are assured of a delightful and gracious evening from the start. The Westgate salad is a delicious first course, and I normally choose either the salmon, risotto, or lamb. Any choice from the chef’s offerings are sure to be perfect for friends or family alike. Park in the garage below, and it makes for an easy walk to the Opera at the Civic Plaza across the street. Be sure to have the dining room validate your parking ticket.

I spent overnite in this very old world classic hotel, I loved the ambience* staff was great ,dining room was a total different vibe. Staff was not knowledgeable clearly not service oriented. and indifferent. I had breakfast there, did not return for another go at it.

The Westgate Hotel is a classic European style hotel with such an attention to detail in design, in fabrics, in architecture, in the restaurant, in food and service. The restaurant has excellent dinners and is perfect for pre-opera dining. They are sure to tine the dinner so you are finished enjoying your delicious meal in time to just walk across the street to Civic Theatre for opera performances. The lobby bar is wonderful.... be sure to enjoy an evening when Alison Adams is performing. She sings jazz piano on a regular basis. She has an incredible lovely, throaty jazz singing voice and there are so few such piano places in San Diego. It is a beautiful bar, small and cozy. We visited the Westgate lobby piano bar after seeing another event downtown. That's when we first heard Alison perform and I am now on her email list for Westgate performances. Parking is below the hotel. If you have dinner at the hotel, have them validate your parking.... it takes some of the price down but it doesn't make it free. Also, don't forget .....The afternoon tea is delightful and at Christmas the teddybear tea is perfect for kids. We took our kids for many years (be sure each of your sweeties brings a favorite teddy bear to the tea!)

I stay at this hotel often, when I’m in San Diego for work. I’m very happy to be a guest at this hotel & I’ve always wanted to have breakfast in this dining room, & so one morning I did; I had 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of bacon & a small bowl of fruit, with a cappuccino & it cost me $30 with tax & a 20% tip (my option, as the tip was not mandatory). But, the cost is a bit overpriced, for what I received, even though the service was excellent, good fresh food & the dining room is quite elegant & beautiful. I might do it again though, simply for convenience. But, for $30, I’m used to fantastic breakfasts at hotels around the world.

We had champagne brunch here - not particularly cheap, but then again there is unlimited champagne, or Bloody Marys or Bucks Fizz. The restaurant, like the rest of the hotel, is quite old-fashioned in style. Lots of chintz and floral patterns - I'm not criticising, just observing. My husband and I didn't have a special occasion but this is the place you come for celebrations, I am guessing. The food was pretty good - the seafood starters especially. There were crab claws, oysters, mussels, prawns, ceviche.. There was also a breakfast station, and other hot dishes like roast beef, lamb etc. The desserts were also very good. The only thing that left me feeling a little uncomfortable was when we were presented with the bill and the suggested tip was about 25%. As a frequent visitor to the US I have noticed that this happens when the server has worked out that we are not local and think we might not tip them enough. Or if they think I am completely daft. Unfortunately, for them, I am not. Bearing in mind that this is a buffet, and I had to do most of the legwork, the suggested amount was a little optimistic and so he had to do with a little less. A slightly sour end to what was a lovely afternoon.

We went during Comic Con 2013- the busiest time - and it was awesome! The hotel was stately, the decor luxurious and rooms were huge and extremely comfortable. The Westgate's proximity to the San Diego Convention Center was 7 blocks - walking distance! The hotel's location downtown offers plenty of restaurants and fast food, with a very convenient 7-11 right acrosss the street. The staff was TOP NOTCH! They asked us all about the Con, who we saw and what we heard, FUN! The Westgate stored our luggage after check out on Sunday -which was GREAT because we didn't have to lug it with us and pay to store it at Comic Con! ANOTHER plus was, although the hotel doesn't offer a airport shuttle, the MTA #993 stops across the street and takes you directly to the airport...for just $2.25!!! So skip the taxis or shuttle vans and take this local treasure! We loved our time at the Westgate and will definitely be coming back!

Was here for business and was very pleased with the amenities. It was within walking distance to the convention centre and was close to bars and restaurants in the gaslamp quarter. I would recommend.

Went for business dinner meeting. One of the only quiet restaurants downtown and it hit the mark for being perfect place for dinner meeting. Food was excellent. There were three of us and we had three different entrees and salads and all were excellent. Vegan Ravioli was to die for. Server could use some training. He kept rushing asking if we were ready to order. Think he was trying too hard. No one was in the place so there was no need to be rushing from the very beginning as soon as we sat down.

We ate at this restaurant 2 years ago for restaurant week and had a wonderful dining experience. I'm sorry to say it was not the quality we were expecting. Granted it was a Monday evening and the regular chef was off, but that should not have made a difference. The entrees were bland and tasteless and part of my desert was uneatable from being stale. The maitre d' admited to the problem but never offered anything but "I,m sorry". There were only three other tables dining the whole time we were there. Can't recommend it and probably will not return.

We visits the Westgate Tea room for my granddaughters birthday. This was my 1st visit to this tea room. Parking is easy and at $10 I suggest using the valet option. Service was slow and not "Tea" attentive. They failed to note we had allergies at our table which extended service and quite honestly diminished any quality in food for this with allergies. The tea pots were to large for a single person, which meant tea steeping well past recommended time which became very bitter. They have no single Origen teas and the garden of the tea served falls well below Pekoe standards. For the price $50 per person the service simply does not stand up to Tea Room standards. Beautiful setting and room but of you want a true experience for to the USS Grant.

Foodie Alert!!! If you are in San Diego for a Sunday brunch, this is the place for you. The setting was beautiful, as you are seated in a beautiful, soothing dining room with a piano man playing background music. But the true delight is the huge variety of different food displayed so elegantly on multiple tables. Sushi, crab claws, caviar, ceviche, salmon.... And that is just one table. I loved how the food is already in bite portions for the guests. This made it easier to control portions (my eyes can be bigger than my stomach) but still sample all of the goodies. Standout entrees included Mac and cheese over spicy short ribs, scallop and crab au gratin, pork belly sliders.... There was a carving station of salmon wellington and prime rib, as well as side dishes. There was also an omelets station, a crepe station, and a chocolate fountain. Honestly, it is impossible to even fathom the delicious assortment of food! So much delicious food, not enough room to describe it! Some reviews on trip advisor complained about the price, but come on! This isn't something you do every day - its a special occasion thing, and when traveling, my husband and I indulge a bit. My husband and I thought the service was good, although the plates on the table sometimes stacked up before they got cleared away. Did I mention the $45 per person included bottomless champagne, mimosas, bloody Marys, and margaritas? OH YES!

I stayed here for three nights and was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic customer service. We stayed on the 12th floor the first night and didn't sleep a single wink. The trolley bus and a homeless person that my fiancé said "lost his mind" during the middle of the night made it very hard to sleep. The windows are definitely not noise proof. That being said, the hotel staff was very accommodating in bumping us up to the 15th floor and an upgraded room. It was still noisy, but I'm glad they at least tried to make it better. The pool on the 3rd floor is awesome! Very cool spot. The hotel is within walking distance of so many cool things it is hard to beat. Just remember your ear plugs or you might go nuts! Old decor in the hotel, felt like the Titanic. Probably wouldn't stay again if I was on business or getting married. I saw a wedding take place and I can only pray the bride and groom slept the night before.

We arrived for a long planned family vacation after doing a great deal of research. Upon arrival, we were treated well but found our room to be worn out with a torn bed skirt, filthy rope skirt around the chairs and a stale odor. After sadly contemplating if we should bother the staff with a request to move, my husband called the front desk and his request was granted. The next room was much cleaner. But I cannot explain the tremendous noise from the metro trains outside our window. The blaring horns assaulted us constantly, even late at night. We decided to get up the next day at 5am because we gave up trying to sleep. Then I found the twin bed my son slept in is crushed to a slope on one side and I have no idea how he got any rest. I sadly sit in our room, upset for spending a lot of our budget on a place we can't enjoy and feel we would surely be turned away if we asked for yet another room change...my husband and I will squeeze into a twin bed and lay awake all night.

Ive had Sunday brunch here several times and each time seems to be better then the last. Went here for my son's birthday celebration ( age #26) I gave him full range of any where in San Diego! Almost mind blowing choices omelette bar, prime rib and various meats. Im in it for the seafood, vegetables and fruit. Beautiful presentation and quite the spread! Shrimp cocktail, sushi, dim sum. Desserts are perfection featuring a chocolate fountain ( young kids love) including hosted crepe bar, creme brulee. All a work of art! Champagne and selection of juices for mimosas Great coffee and service.

We picked the Westgate buffet to celebrate this Thanksgiving with our family and we were a party of 5. While we had to wait a few minutes for our reservation at 4:30 PM, our wait was in a comfortable room at the bar. Once seated, the waiter was present and attentive. He took our drink orders. The room is very pretty and the noise level was comfortable for conversation. The buffet was nicely set up and the seafood appetizers and salad areas had attractive and tasty items. After eating some appetizers, we were shocked when we went up a little later to find there was no turkey to carve. I don't know if they ran out but we had a few slivers of dark meat. Who could imagine a Thanksgiving buffet with no turkey? The roast beef was a bit stringy and fatty and the accompaniments were empty and dried out. A couple of minor annoyances was that my martini was delivered in a bar glass. The room was understaffed and the waiter was not present frequently enough to service our table. All in all, this was not the perfect experience we had hoped for and probably did not provide the value I expected for the price.

We walked in and as we did not want a full dinner, we asked about eating in the bar area. Big mistake. We had to flag down a manager as the two servers behind the bar were looking at us, but ignoring us. The manager sent over the most clueless server. Nice enough guy but wow, everything was a multi step process. There were four of us and only three of us ever got drinks, he never checked back to refill any of the drinks and never brought me the water that I asked for. Our food arrived eventually after having to flag him down again to take our order. There was only one other table when we arrived. We really just wanted a quick bite, but it was not to be. Over an hour into this ordeal, the place started to fill up and then the musicians showed up. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY NICE FOR THE HOSTESS TO TELL US ABOUT THE LIVE MUSIC. The singer was rather rude, first telling the crowd to not dare to talk to others above a whisper and then, later on, snarkily saying ‘for those of you that are listening ‘ We had no idea that music was upcoming nor did we expect apps to take 110 minutes. As the room filled, we were essentially pushed out of our seats and I could not flag down the server to get the check so one of my business associates stayed behind to pay. As I left the room, a patron said, is that seat available. You need more seating, you need a notice up about the music or you need your hostess to mention it when people arrive.

Posh surroundings, wide variety of mostly decent food. The service however, ranged from being flat-out ignored by hostesses and bartenders to being completely forgotten about by the wait staff. Our waiter actually started out our meal by telling us that the food was wonderful and so too would be the service because without good service, the best food in the world wouldn't make us come back. He was right, I won't be going back. I don't think he knew he was being ironic...

We were in San Diego for just a night prior to a cruise. I had Dover Sole and my husband had salmon. Outstanding! Wonderful service and the food was excellent. Highly recommended.

If in San Diego this little place is a staple of the city. You should stay here as it is absolutely stunning with plush beds and pillows to have a great rest on! Note- make sure you stay on the side without the trolley as it has a horn that goes all day and night! The seasonal decorations are beautiful & a must see! Try their cafe as it serves great food with a most wonderful server named Gabriel.. I will be back

Nice rooms and the concierge was one of the nicest most helpful ladies you could ask for. My stay here was wonderful and I would highly recommend this hotel.

We tend to forget about the Westgate, even though it is centrally located for a number of theaters. When seeing Beautiful at the SDMT (amazingly good) we learned the Westgate partnered with the Westgate for a decent fixed price menu ($49 for appetizer, entree, desert and a glass of wine). The food was delicious, the service perhaps too prompt.... Of course, imbibing additional drinks more then doubled the fixed price, but it was still comparable to other nice restaurants. In fact, we plan to come here rather then the Grant Grill in the future. One sour note - we left our car with the Westgate valet. When the theater goers all arrived to pick,up their cars, there was one single valet, leacomg 20-30 of us waiting in a hot underground garage.... Overall, a good rating.

Downtown San Diego has many lunch options, but nothing compares to lunch at the Westgate Room. To begin with, they have valet parking and you get parking validation with lunch and a tiny parking fee (the equivalent of 2 hours of parking had you been so lucky to find a metered spot). After you beat the biggest obstacle, parking downtown during lunch rush hour, the attendant will escort you to the ever so fragrant, as in fresh flowers fragrant, lush and plush lobby seating area. Don't make the mistake to go to the deli, this review is not about their deli, but the Westgate Room restaurant. I've never been to the deli, it looks like a flower shop, why go there for lunch? Maybe if you are in a hurry? Anyway, focus! Ok, so the restaurants is well lit, roomy, bright, airy and just beautiful! And quiet!! A plus if you have important stuff to discuss, hello power lunch! The wait staff are impeccable, polite, attentive, prompt, and not pretentious like all the other wait staff elsewhere within 1 mile radius. The food choices are well thought out, delicious, made with fresh and quality ingredients, and the dishes come beautifully presented. The portions are big, or normal by American standards. The salads are to die for! The scallop salad takes a while to come out but that gives you plenty of time to advance on your discussion items. The tortellini dish is exquisite! The tea selection is very good, go for the iced tea, it's prettier! You may run into an elected official, perhaps eating solo or with someone important; or you may also see the ladies who lunch types, yes we have them in the west coast too; or you may have the place all by yourself for half of the meal, and then someone dressed smartly sits solo for a bit until a familiar face shows up to join him/her but you can't tell if that familiar face is a TV anchor, sports personality, real estate mogul, famous attorney... but you choose to focus rather on your scrumptious meal and good company than on the rest of the lunch guests. Try it, you won't regret it! Check out the restrooms before you go to pick up your car downstairs!

Service is great. Have been here for dinner prior to Opera, brunch, and dinner to celebrate a birthday. Food is excellent and the dinner menu changes often enough to not get bored. Chef is very accomodating of special dietary needs.

We attempted to enjoy the jazz in the lounge on Friday night. The service was horrible! We waited for over an hour just to get a drink and the food we ordered came out overcooked and inedible! Every customer that came in after us was served before us and when my husband complained to the manager her response was, "We have two large parties in the other room and we are short staffed." The only staff member that had an inkling of empathy and said he was sorry was Reed the lonely bartender trying to do all jobs. I was insulted that they gave us a check after all of that. This would have never happened at a Ritz or 4 Seasons. Employees are empowered to handle problems. NOT HERE! They will never see us again. If you want great jazz go to Croce's where the service and the food are outstanding!

This is great for a quick eat-in or take-away homestyle lunch meal when you are on the go. The hotel has special programs here such as an all you can eat buffet lunch for local business people and an international internship program where members can showcase their home-country foods by participating as chef at this lunchroom.

Good points: Great service from desk and room staff. Almost surreal experience of staying in a hotel decorated in Renaissance Style. Great room size. Very clean premises. Good Gym and swimming pool. Next to Gaslamp Quarter. Bad points: Room facing Trolley Bus Station can be noisy particularly with the hooting of the Trolley buses. Not for the light sleepers. Decor partly jaded particularly bathroom fittings.

We went to the Westgate Hotel for breakfast before attending a wedding last Saturday. We chose the Westgate due to the other reviews on Tripadvisor. Our experience was dreadful. The only waiter in the restaurant could not have cared less about his customers. He was extremely slow to take our orders - he forgot about my ordered smoothie - which then took 45 minutes to appear. The food was cold, and we then had to ask him to hurry so we could pay the bill as we needed to get to the wedding. I wouldn't recommend it, and wouldn't go there again.

We adore the Westgate for the opulent feeling given by the quality 18th century antiques furnishing the lobby, the classic European elegance of the dining areas, the food and wine, and the quality of service presented by the international staff. The Fountainebleu Restaurant offers one of the best brunch experiences in San Diego, with an awesome spread of edibles and live music. We always feel special after visiting the Westgate!

The Westgate will valet park your car for 3 hours for $10 if dining. It is $4 for every 30 minutes after 3 hours. We had a 5 pm reservation and we were the first guests. We had a nice table along Second Ave. no real view but pleasant. I started with a good Manhattan and my wife had a nice glass Pol Clement Brut. My wife had the soup of the day a spinach soup that she said was very good but a bit over salted. I had the table side prepared Caesar salad. It was good with chilled fresh romaine lettuce. It could have used more lemon juice and cheese but I judge it better than most. My wife had very good Scallop (2) and Prawn dish. Nicely plated. I had a very good and large serving of the Rack of Lamb with eggplant and olives. The wine list had very few wines by the glass and our server seemed to lack wine knowledge. My wife's glass of white she did not like nor did she finish it. A pleasant dining experience and a nice place to dress up.

Loved!! I went with 3 friends and we had a wonderful girls time!! All the staff was super nice at the hotel, ballet parking, waiters, reception!! All great and I loved my brunch!! I’m so excited for my next visit when I’m in town.

I stayed here for two nights and we got room service a couple of times. One of the times they left off part of my order and then charged me another service fee when they brought the missing item and then denied that I was being charged twice. Another time, we waited about an hour for our food and when we called to check the status, they said they had gotten an order and didn't remember who it came from and then took another 40 minutes or so to finally bring us our food. It wouldn't be such a big deal, but you pay a lot for the luxury of room service, so you expect to get what you paid for. I have stayed here a few times before and loved it, but it definitely seems like their service is going downhill.

We had a great breakfast at the hotel. My husband said the eggs benedict were some of the best he'd had. I enjoyed the pancakes and yummy bacon.

We love the Westgate Room because it is so appealing in a variety of ways. First of all, the surroundings are beautiful, fresh flowers at each table add a lovely touch, then the food is delicious and consistently good as a reasonable price. This is our go-to-place for lunch before the matinee performance at the Civic Center ...

Had a deluxe king room. Great view of the ocean. Bathroom good size with marble everywhere. Recommend hotel for those who love a charming classic hotel

Brunch is our thing. Never been more spoiled. Loved it. The buffet was not too big, just enough to say oh my, there's more. We will be back again, and again. Thanks Juan and all your helpers.

The best Sunday brunch in all of San Diego county!! great service and great food selection. The underground parking is a bit tricky to navigate and find. After your in there is good protection for your chariot. The Gelatos are good and you get a fine selection of starters as well as the main selections.

It's not even close...This is my go to place for Sunday Brunch in San Diego. I rarely get past the fresh seafood area but know that everything else at brunch is outstanding.

Had to wait 15 mins for reservation. Sorely understaffed. Serves till 2 and arrived at 1. Ran out of items like calamari. Had to request bread as it was never offered. Most times when returning from buffet had to clear our own plates. Having said all of above there were many pluses. The selection/variety was excellent. Servers courteous and knowledgeable.

I will not review a restaurant unless I have eaten there at least three times. All restaurants have off nights. I have had brunch at the Westgate four times and have been impressed each time. The room is a classic, old-fashioned hotel dining room. Here you are transported to another, kinder, slower time as you eat and listen to the piano player play the standards from the 30s to the 60s. The food is excellent and imaginative. Sure you have the old standards, roast beef, omlets made to order, a carving station, a chocolate fountain, etc. but you also have duck breast with a port reduction, salmon en croute, fresh oysters (quite good ones) and others. The menu changes often so I have not been bored. If you are downtown in San Diego on a Sunday looking for a outstanding brunch buffet this is the place to go! If you are anywhere in San Diego it is worth a trip.

Excellent service and the food was beyond great! It was 75 degrees out and the pushed us to get soup and we thought she was nuts! It was the best tortilla soup I have ever had. Great presentation all around. Get ice tea!

Returned to the Westgate for their Sunday brunch in the exquisite Fontainebleau room. As to be expected, the selections were many varied and delicious. Beautifully presented buffet tables with oysters, shrimp, sushi, carving stations—you name it. Wonderful brunch coupled with ample Champaign.

So enjoyed being on the 16th floor with a view of the city below, the Coronado Bay Bridge to the right, and the sound of the fountains coming up...lovely. The reason for not giving an excellent is $36.00 a night for parking, to me, is outrageous. And not just for this hotel, in general, this is extreme and feels like a rip off. The bathroom could use a remodel to accommodate two sinks. Yet, the staff is great and the room was, well, roomy. Would return to this hotel.

Let me start by saying I did not stay at the hotel, I just came for brunch. It was a very nice atmosphere and incredibly upscale. I like the formality of it and you never felt like it was fancy for the sake of increasing prices. The food was wonderful and they had a good variety, though I wish they'd had a bit more breakfast foods. Live piano player in the dining room was a treat, but if possible, don't get a table too close. It can be a bit loud and difficult to converse with those you're with. This is my new favorite brunch and I'll definitely be back soon.

We enjoy dinners at The Westgate before each performance of San Diego Opera. The Westgate times the dinners perfectly so that guests are ready to walk across the street to the civic theatre performances. We love the Westgate salad or crab cakes as starters. Our favorite entrees include the salmon, lamb, or ravioli. They make great cosmos! Often we return after the opera to enjoy listening to jazz in the Westgate lounge..... especially when Alison Adams performs. Enjoy an elegant, lovely evening at The Westgate and I'm confident you'll return again and again!

Love the rooms, tastefully decorated felt like you were in Europe but the staff is somewhat stuffy.. oh well we enjoyed the stay

Really all I can say is wow. The way we are being treated here is like we are royalty or at the very least celebrities. The hotel is centrally located. Not to far from the Midway. Basically across the street from the Gas Lamp area. And only about a ten minute walk from the convention center. The Horton Mall is literally across the street. Stay here you will love it.

We went to Easter Brunch at the Westgate Hotel. The spread was quite large, with salad, omelette, and pancake stations as well as many other breakfast and lunch options. Lots and lots of seafood as well. Everything was amazing - one of my personal favorite samplings was the scallop and shrimp pot pie. Out of this world! The chocolate fountain was a favorite as well. It was a bit pricey for a brunch, but worth it for that one special time you want to do something upscale. Definitely recommend if you're looking for one "fine dining" type of experience while visiting San Diego.

They have a jazz combo that performs on Fridays and maybe Saturdays.Lounge is comfy, but wayyyy too small for the crowd that shows up. The summertime is better because they move the music outside.

The room itself is beautiful and traditional. The menu is varied although the wine list is limited for mid-price wines.

You've heard of the ladies who lunch, right? The Westgate Hotel must be their mecca. I Googled 'best brunch in SD' and the Westgate was on the list. My traveling companion was skeptical of eating a buffet for brunch. After he saw the caviar, sushi, seafood, and most importantly, the chocolate fountain, he decided it was the perfect place to have brunch. The food. No words can give the food justice. Do you like seafood? Do you like a meat carving station? Do you like made to order omelets and waffles? Do you like chocolate fountains? Do you like waiters who never let your champagne glass run out? Then don't worry. The food WILL NOT disappoint. Please wear appropriate clothes if you want to have brunch here. It was nice to see ladies in church hats. Even the large table of college aged girls were dressed well. I have a feeling you wouldn't be admitted if you're wearing shorts or flip flops. There was a pianist during brunch and the staff was incredible. If you're looking for an elegant, old money, exquisite brunch, come here. It's completely worth it!

Tea in the afternoon and lots of gold and crystal. The rooms were spacious and clean with nice details. TIP: your key opens a vestibule off the hall and then there are 2 doors to separate suites. The keys are cool too, a modern equivalent of the large brass key, very nice touch. Indicative of the entire say. Would love to return.

I hosted my mothers birthday brunch here for 50 family members and everyone raved about what a fantastic spread it was. I agree the spread was absolutely amazing everything from creeps to omelette to caviar to seafood, and would give the quantity of choices 5 stars. The food quality was closer to 4. It was good but not great. The bottomless champagne mimosas were definitely a plus!

So happy I wasn't too lazy to get out of that wonderfully comfortable room to come down to breakfast! The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was friendly & professional, and most importantly the food was fabulous! They didn't bat an eye at all my special requests (gluten-free, hard poached eggs, extra sauce) AND got it all right the first time. Prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially for such elegant ambiance- gorgeous fresh flowers, real silver, Limoges, etc. Loved it! Hope to return someday on a Sunday for that brunch.

We tend to review hotels not only on the quality of the accommodations but also the experience we have at the hotel. While the rooms are beautiful, and the staff seems to be professional, I had an unreasonable experience at check-in which will result in my never staying at this hotel again. I clearly made my reservation for a room with a King Bed at $209 plus taxes. Upon check-in, they had me down for a room with 2 beds at $229. They said the room was ready but I would have to pay the rate higher than my confirmation or wait for a room to be prepared for $209. This was about 2pm. They said it should be ready by 3pm. I was back at the hotel at 3pm, and long story short is that the room wasn't ready until 4pm. That was by complaining. It could have been later if I didn't make an issue that is was over 2 hours since I tried checking in.No one likes waiting an extra time when the rooms are guaranteed by 3pm. They should have just offered the original room at the $209 confirmed price and honored their reservation. They said it wasn't their fault because the housekeeping showed the room being prepared but it wasn't. They need better organization. Their daily parking rate at $36 is high. I'll stay at any number of nice hotels nearby that are better organized.

The whole dining atmosphere here makes you feel like royalty...from the beautiful table settings to the waiters and waitresses who would say things like, "More hot water, my lady?" Expensive, yes, but certainly worth it for a couple of breakfasts and dinners. The food was always delicious and done perfectly to your requests. On my last morning there while dining alone for breakfast, my son who was in town for the pro football game the day before and staying at a different hotel, surprised me by stopping be to join me for breakfast...a breakfast burrito from a nearby place in hand! As gracious and beautiful as the Westgate dining room is, my waiter welcomed him and got a plate for his burrito then engaged him in conversation. So classy! The Westgate Hotel also offers an afternoon tea. Again, expensive but so worth it! There were families there with young children, birthday celebrations, single diners...just a great way to experience a quiet, relaxing, delicious afternoon.

Was looking for a great place to have dinner before a play. Did I make a mistake. Here is a summary 1. Room is boring. No life. Feels like a retirement community dining room 2. Waiter could have care less that we were there 3. Cesar salad was okay. It what was to be prepared table side. It came directly from the kitchen 4. Wife's Prawns we just ok 5. We each had Salmon I can only say that I have had a better meal at Red Lobster. We did mention to the manager who removed one of the entrées from our bill. 6. dessert was actually pretty good. The cappuccino machine was broken. How does this happen at such an upscale hotel. Wow what a disappointment!!!!

I ate on the patio twice during my stay at the hotel. Each time the staff was friendly and accommodating. The lemon ricotta pancakes for breakfast were excellent and didn't sit in my stomach like a lead weight (looking at you, IHOP). The kobe burger for lunch was cooked and seasoned perfectly--no condiments necessary. I'd go back just for the truffle fries!

We had brunch Saturday at the Westgate Room and enjoyed it enough to come back for more Sunday. I know San Diego is full of posh brunch spots, but I was really surprised to see how empty it was here--apparently the instagram crowd hasn't yet realized that its exquisite Versailles-inspired decor and well-crafted meals would be perfect for their selfies. The Bloody Maria was perfectly proportioned. The baker's baskets were different each day, but great both times, with a delicious seasonal marmalade (blueberry or maybe huckleberry for August). Escargot, French onion soup, and Steak frites were exquisite. French toast was a delicious classic thin-cut offering, plated with generous berries and powdered sugar. Service was very attentive and friendly. Prices were surprisingly affordable for such an upscale spot--most if not everything we ordered was under $20.

I tried something new every morning for breakfast. Everything was delicious and prepared to perfection. The Belgian waffles with chocolate, strawberries and whipped cream is to die for!

Its one of the finest Sunday Champagne Brunches in the San Diego area. They have caviar, oysters, gourmet cheeses and much more. Everything we tried was delicious. Wait staff was attentive and efficient. You can request a drink such as Bloody Mary, Screwdriver or a Margarita if you wish at no additional cost. Coffee was also included in the brunch price. It is an easy walk from the Santa Fe Depot so we take the train down from Oceanside (Coaster runs on Sunday). Parking is expensive in San Diego so parking for free in Oceanside and the scenery on the way makes for a relaxing enjoyable way back and forth.

Old fashioned. Really good food and service. LOke stepping back in time

I had a exceptional Sunday Brunch - Caviar was plentiful with all trimmings Waiter advised me to ask for Sashimi grade at Sushi station which attendant promptly cut for me All stations were above the top Lamb cheeks were outstanding Prime Rib excellent Desert room fantastic with hand made crepe's Only negative was crab claws frozen and mushy

Brunch at the Westgate is absolutely out of this world amazing. The entire experience, including the food, the service, and the drinks, is outstanding. It is definitely one of the best brunches I have ever experienced, hands down. I would highly recommend this brunch to anyone looking for a memorable experience. The, of course, was outstanding and the price wasn't terrible, considering the quality and selection.

The food is exceptional from the goat cheese omelet, Spanish style potatoes to the jaw dropping Sunday brunch, I do not think there is a brunch to compare in all of the San Diego area, expensive but well worth the monies if you are a foodie. The staff literally run to make your stay and dining enjoyable.

The Sunday Brunch at the Westgate Hotel is one of the best in San Diego. The selections are amazing and the food is first class. We live in San Diego County and we always bring friends and family there for Sunday Brunch. We have never been disappointed. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is outstanding.

Thirty minutes before arriving at the Westgate Hotel, I checked their website, which advertised Friday happy hour from 5-7 with $7 cocktails and appetizers. Instead we had to pay $12 per cocktail and much more fore appetizers. When we arrived we were told that because there was a Prix Fix menu in the dining room that evening, they were not offering happy hour pricing. Ver deceptive advertising. The Plaza/Piano Bar was small and cramped. The bartender offered gracious, cordial service, but the waiter was a prig. Don't bother...there are much better places in downtown San Diego.

Booked on priceline for a very cheap price. I knew about the facility fee and the parking fee ahead of time so it was a great value for the price. Helpful desk staff and fun to be near the center of activity in the Gaslamp....

The Westgate Room is never crowded but always welcoming with classic decor and even more classic service. They actually know to serve seafood with a fish fork and fish knife! Dishes are often prepared or finished table-side and include Caesar Salad, Dover Sole and Baked Alaska. Service is efficient and polite. Food is reliably good.

We dined for Sunday brunch and please make reservations. This place is full. Also adhere to the dress code or you will be turned away. I did witness a young man that they asked to go change out of his flip flops. So there is a variety of everything. I loved the made to order omelet bar. There is shrimp, made to order crepes, chocolate fountain, prime rib, bottomless mimosas, cheeses, breads, bacon, sausage, truffle mac and cheese, braised ribs, crab legs, and the list goes on. They have a full listing on the hotel website of the brunch menu. It is $50 a person so splurge and enjoy. The valet parking was very reasonable also.

Sunday brunch at the Westgate hotel has been an ongoing experience for over 40 years. A recent experience confirms that the overall quality of food offerings is still fine. This reviewer first visited a Westgate brunch in late 1975 and returned repeatedly over the next 5-6 years. Then, a career and life change limited a return so that now--within the past two weeks--a visit, after many years, confirms that the Westgate experience is still as good as before. The rooms used still have a feel of elegance, though there are signs here and there of repeated use. One steps off the elevator on the second floor to be immediately in the midst of food, all kinds of food: the egg station where eggs are prepared on order; cheese and fruit selections; a separate station of Asian-prepared items; a buffet line incorporating many common brunch items, along with uncommon specialties; an expansive dessert table; and a flowing chocolate fountain. Both breakfast and lunch items are available. There is soft, live piano music available, which is a plus experience not usually available in lesser brunch venues. The buffet brunch is $50.00, beverages, champagne included, but not tax and tip. Parking is available in the underground hotel garage for roughly $8-10, depending on the length of time a party remains at the brunch. While $50.00 seems high at first blush, one needs to consider that one will have a wider range of food offerings, plus dessert and beverage included, along with music, comfortable dining chairs, carpet and atmosphere. Also, considering inflation over the past four decades, the amount today is comparable to what it was 40 years ago. While the overall experience was a definite plus, it was not perfect, though the little no-nos were not major. At the omelet station, for example, the cook used too much oil at the beginning. That is a common mistake, and I understand it. Lots of oil means the cook doesn't have to scrape the skillet now and then. But the order for an omelet is not about what's best for the cook, but what's best for the diner. This reviewer likes dry, crisp bacon, and for my taste the bacon was not dry enough. However, there were so many choices available on the buffet line that one will not leave hungry. Will we go back? Yes, and we won't allow years in between the experience.

There were limited options for Christmas Day dinner in San Diego and this looked to best bet so we booked a table. From the instant we arrived the staff seemed keen to see our departure and they rushed through course after course as if it was on a conveyor belt. The food itself was ok, but nothing special for Christmas Day and the overall feeling we departed with was that we were the unwanted ghosts at Christmas.

I showed up to the front desk tired after a rough weekend south of the border. Ron at the front seat took one look at me, and knew exactly what I needed. I have no idea how he did it, but the man has a gift. Thank you Ron and everyone at the Westgate (shoutout to Sam for the love earlier!) for a lovely and memorable visit. With tremendous thanks, John

We had excellent dinners at The Westgate Room before attending the opera. Our server was delightful, he’s from Cairo and we had great discussions about the opera Aida, ser in Egypt. All four of us enjoyed the artisan salad to begin our dinners. Delicious! Our guests enjoyed pastas; one had the short rib tortellini and one had the vegetarian ravioli. Good feedback on both. My husband selected an appetizer as his entree, the crab cakes and they were great as always! I enjoyed the filet, prepared medium rare and it was incredible! So tender, so flavorful. They provided a side order of potatoes dauphine. Delicious. Desserts were included in the opera menu... we enjoyed a variety of delights! Two of us selected the grand marnier creme brulee, wonderful! My husband enjoyed the “rocky road” which he said tasted good but was not what he expected based on the description. Our other guest selected tiramisu and we all agreed it was nit really tiramisu. I would say that sone creatively minded chef could say it was a deconstructed tiramisu! It looked like a chocolate cannoli filled with cream, served with two macarons. Interesting and tasty, just not what one expects as a tiramisu!! Overall, an absolutely wonderful evening with spectacular service and delicious food. We will be back for sinner before the next opera!

The location is great and the hotel is beautiful. The new fitness center and spa is AMAZING. If you are going to stay here you MUST stay on the side AWAY from the trolley and as high as possible or you will get zero sleep. The only time it doesn't run (and thus is quiet) is between midnight - 4:45 a.m. I wish I could rate it higher, but that trolley is truly horrible.

I had all my meals at the hotel with something different everyday that was very chic and delicious by the French inspired kitchen.

The setting and music were good. However, the food was average at best, and not worth the price. The price of a cocktail listed on the menu didn't reflect what's on the bill. The service was below average or understaffed or both.

We had difficulty finding the room and the hotel staff did not seem to know where afternoon tea was. The food and the tea was descent. We had to wait forever for the check.

I went to the Mother's Day brunch with my son, husband and Mother-in-Law. It was so elegant and plentiful. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They had a piano player in the beautiful dining areas that sparkled with crystal chandeliers. The quality of the food was great and the prepared- while-you-wait omelettes were wonderful. The champagne glasses were constantly refilled. It was a lovely brunch and very up-scale. The only problem was parking. Even the valet parking was full by 10:00 a.m.

Celebrated my parents anniversary here with my family for brunch. My parents love this hotel as it reminds them of Paris. If you do not like white table linens and European elegance, then this is not the place for you...BUT if you enjoy a great and wide variety of selections in your brunch, then please do give it a try. There are several stations, such as the sushi station, dim sum, omelet, carving station (their salmon is amazing), crepes station (my personal favorite), ice cream (yes they make their own), waffles, donuts station, etc. There is a wide variety of seafood (crab, shrimp, caviar, oysters, ceviche, etc.) salads, fruits, heated dishes, etc. many in bite size portions, so you can enjoy to your heart's content. There is a piano player and they offer more the the usual champagne and mimosas, Bloody Mary and margaritas are also an option. The Bloody Mary has a kick to it. They will validate for parking up to 3 hours ($10.00 charge). I have been to many nice brunches in San Diego, but I still find this one the best, their selection is deep and wide and best of all, delicious. I think they keep getting better and better. A great special occasion experience.

Food options for every taste bud! Omelet station, fresh sushi, carved station, seafood, meat and pasta stations, desserts, fresh fruit, cheese and pastries....DELICIOUS!

My date and I were going to see a play at the Civic center but arrived early. So, we ventured out in search of food and stumbled across the Westgate Room. From the moment we walked in we knew it was different than the horrible restaurants San Diego has to offer. The Room was elegantly decorated in French charm and we were immediately seated. The list was impressive and vast, showcasing some amazing French vineyards. We ended up having the Caesar Salad, made to order by Marcos at your table including the raw egg. For the main courses we had the sea bass, it melted in our mouths. The grand finale was the French cheesecake....ohhh la la. When attending a play at the Civic Center, make this your first stop.

We stayed at the Westgate because it’s adjacent to the theater where we had tickets for Hamilton and chose to have breakfast there out of convenience - but I was happily surprised when our most personable waiter brought me the best lobster eggs Benedict I’ve ever eaten - and I’ve eaten a great many eggs Benedict! They were tiny and tender and filled with fresh lobster and tiny grilled asparagus: truly wonderful!

The customer service and food was wonderful. The French toast was so yummy and the seafood bisque was smooth, creamy, & fresh. At dinner I wanted a moscato but they didn't have it. The waitress suggested making me a blend which I thought was very good customer trying to find a way to be helpful. I chose not to for fear I wouldn't like it. A few minutes later the manager came out and suggested I try a Riesling Spatlese and let me try it first. He said I would love it and I did! I have a new wine to add to the my favs.

Brunch at the Westgate is an elegant treat on Sunday. A piano player provides a soft background as guests feast from the seemingly endless buffet tables (seafood, several meats, salad, dim sum, sushi, omelletes, Eggs benedict, caviar, hummous), sip champagne, and explore the new sweet shop in a room by itself and with homemade ice cream, such as lavender orange sorbet. Service is professional -- attentive but not overwhelming. For a special occasion or a memorable meal, do go to the Westgate for their Sunday brunch.

The restaurant is pretty neat, the staffs were nice and courteous. The food was very good. They had a freshly squeezed orange juice similar to what I had at Tahiti. Would definitely recommend

We regularly enjoy pre-opera dinners at The Westgate and the dinners are delicious in such a tastefully decorated, elegant dining room. Our guests always enjoy such a lovely evening at The Westgate and the food is always dependably delicious with flavors that accent the entrees and preparation that is perfect! I just enjoyed the lamb entree of braised lamb cheek and lamb loin chop on Saturday preceded by the crab cakes appetizer. Perfectly delightful! My husband enjoyed the crab cake appetizer as well as the salmon which was prepared with delicious sun-dried tomato risotto. Our guests enjoyed the tenderloin and salmon entrees while also ordering the burrata/heirloom tomato appetizer and Westgate salad, respectively. Everyone enjoyed the food which was served timely and with just the right amount of attention by our server. We will definitely return and we always recommend The Westgate, knowing that anyone will find a gracious and delicious meal surrounded bycomfortable elegance.

food was well-presented, but not above average. waiters were listless and seemed uninformed about menu and wines by glass. hoat was attentive. room was a bit sterile, with view of passers-by in windows above....

Me and my family had breakfast: omelette and potatoes, french toast and they were so good and the right portions. We also had dinner and we liked very much their salads, broccoli soup, fettucini alfredo and burgers; we liked how they presented the plates, they look gourmet type. When we were having dinner, there was a jazz band, so we had our meals with live music, so we enjoyed the evening very much. But what we liked the most was their service, it was excellent, specially at breakfast, I didn't catch the gentleman who served us, be he treated us great.

My granddaughter and I had dinner at this great restaurant in the elegant Westgate Hotel before going to the theater, which is right across the street. Perfect! We were greeted with a smile and seated at a beautifully set table with roses and orchids. From the very beginning we knew it was going to be a wonderful, delightful experience. Although my grand loves to try new things, she zeroed in on a hamburger, which was either Kobe beef or bison - she just had to have it. She also had her first espresso served in a demitasse. My dinner started with a warm asparagus vichyssoise soup served with caviar on a crisp bread stick. It was light, frothy and oh so decadent. I followed this with a tuna tartare salad. Sadly there was more food than I could finish but I forced myself. My martini was also perfect, the espresso was hot and strong and our bellies were full and happy. No room for dessert so off to the theater we went. Thank you to The Westgate Room for such a lovely, quiet, and special dinning experience. We loved the elegant white and beige floor length tablecloths, fresh flowers everywhere (but no strong fragrance to detract from the food or disturb guests), the ornate crystal chandeliers, and neatly dressed attendants and wait staff. We had a very special time being treated like royalty. Cannot wait to visit again!

Not impressed. We were on vacation and researched several options in advance. Based on reviews, we made reservations for the Thanksgiving Day buffet at 11:00am. The food was good, but not over-the-top. Now, the service was outstanding and the ambiance was really nice (we were seated in the piano room). Yes, lots of variety, but flavors were just OK. The sashimi was fresh and very good. The turkey was also tasty, but the mashed sweet potatoes needed a lot more seasoning, i.e. salt, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter. The sauce in the shrimp and crawfish potpie was too thin, runny, and it also needed seasoning. The oysters Rockefeller were nice. Most of the salads and vegetables were good, as well as some of the desserts. However, we’ve had more flavorful food at Choices buffet.

I stayed at the hotel for the weeknd I needed some peace of mind and relaxation time as soon as I cheacked in i was very grateful to have met employee Yvette Flores she was both kind welcoming as well as accommodating and helpful my stay was very peaceful and relaxing I will defently be returning

Go somewhere else. Paid about $300 all together for a night (including their hotel fee and $32 for overnight parking). Service? Sucked. Valet wasn't there to take car when we landed, then we got into lobby and nobody was at main desk for check in for about 7 minutes. The room? Shower was plugged, no tub in room, shower head was old and crap and a solid foot below my head. The mattress was old and pillows soft. I have stayed - literally - in Motel 6's that put this place to shame. Girl at front desk when I left this morning was quite lovely, but by then, I was already upset at the complete lack of value offered by the Westgate. Go somewhere else. You'll thank me.

I adore the Westgate it is so golden and fancy! The decor is beautiful with lots of Persian rugs and antique French style furniture. The food is great as well and moderately priced for Happy Hour arrive early on Monday evenings since this lovely place gets very very busy!

I was there for Sunday brunch because it is advertised as a must when visiting San Diego. The food is excellent; great selection and quality. The look of the hotel/restaurant is very nice but the wait staff acts as if they are doing you a favor by serving you. Not at all friendly and completely uninterested in helping you or serving your table. I had to ask our waiter for everything. If I wouldn't have gotten his attention he wouldn't even had come up to our table to refill our drinks! I was thinking about staying at the hotel on my next visit but after this experience I will never go back.

On May 30, 2011, at 11:12, Cindy Schwartz <cmschwartz59@yahoo.com> wrote: You can add me to the list of reviewers who are incensed by being forced to pay an extra $15 per night "facilities fee" at this hotel. I have stayed at many hotels in San Diego (Omni, Hyatt, Westin, Hilton, Solamar, Sheraton) and while it's a given that you will fork over big bucks for parking (here it's $32 per night for valet, no self parking option nearby), being told at check-in that you have to pay this mandatory fee is outrageous. And it's $15 plus tax, not sales tax but hotel tax. Everything that you are paying for is completely unnecessary - bottled water, wifi, use of fitness center, in-room coffee maker (terrible coffee and no coffee in lobby) Daily newspaper that we didn't get because it was the weekend. Local and long distance calls! Are you kidding me? This isn't 1989, who doesn't use a cell phone when they travel? I almost feel sorry for the desk staff having to tell everyone when they check in about this fee. I would be embarrassed. They don't mention it's taxed by the way. I encouraged a few other couples who were annoyed by this charge to write reviews. Room was large, bed was comfortable. TV is circa 1995, old tube style. Fitness center had some universal equipment and a rack of dumbbells but the room was very small and since it is in the garage level, no view. There was a bowl of nice apples, we took several to help offset the "fee". Location is not the best, on 2nd and Broadway next to the trolley tracks. Noisy unless you get a room high up. No ice machine in hotel. You have to call room service to get a bucket sent up. No pool or spa, not a fun hotel if you are on vacation. There is a safe to store valuables but you must pay to use it. Another gouge. Shower was acceptable. The bathroom had one sink located at the end of a hugely long counter. The only outlet was at the other end which made it almost impossible for my husband to use his Water-Pik. Bring an extension cord. The alarm clock had a docking station but would not charge iPhone 4. I wish Priceline would remove this hotel from their list. I don't like having to factor in an extra $37.76 for a two night stay when I bid. I may stop using Priceline when I travel to San Diego just to ensure I never have to stay here again.

We were so disappointed by our meal. First our table was not set until we arrived. And they forgot spoons, bread plates and butter knives for half of us. Our soup was cold and barely filled half the bowl. The salad was ok. The sea bass was excellent but the beef was not very tender or flavorful. The beef plates were hot as if they had been kept under a warmer. Our server seemed angry to have to wait on us. Definitely not worth the money.

Beautiful decor, super friendly staff, large selection of delicious buffet items in each station, and everything you need to have a perfect Sunday brunch! Oh, and the desserts...! The four of us went there before our opera at the San Diego Civic theater, and the Westgate completely set the mood for a celebration!

We have stayed at the Westgate several times, the location is excellent and the rooms are comfortable and spacious, but I think it is time for a little fluff!
The Brunch that Never Disappoints
We've reviewed the brunch at the Westgate hotel before and just like before it is consistently the more economical brunch in the area that seems to never disappoint us. Everything is always wonderfully prepared, presented and is an absolute delight to devour. We will be vising the Westgate for brunch again on our next San Diego adventure!
