Best old fashioned

By AG |

Best old fashioned I’ve ever had!! Also, great food and nice happy hour menu. Great location. I went a couple times during my stay. I highly recommend.

So many bottles...so little time!

By DKLAG |

spent some time in San Diego recently. Stopped here after dinner and what a great place. over 2000 bottles of whiskey. high and low end. to start, i had a manhattan. I figured that at any good whiskey joint this should be a no brainer. It was! great drink, very well made. After that I had a small pour of a bourbon that i had read about. very nice drink. If the weather had been better, i would have loved to have smoke a cigar outside but it was raining. definitely would stop back when in the area.

A Whiskey Drinker’s Dream

By Michael M |

The Whiskey House is a dream for a whiskey & bourbon connoisseurs and drinkers alike. Nestled in the edge of The Gaslamp downtown quarter, this spot looks unassuming front the outside, but once you enter you are surrounded with bottles of domestic, import and rare bottles of whiskey & bourbon that span wall to wall throughout. They hold the Guinness World Record for having the most variety of whiskey commercially available: 2467! There are plenty of tables and a extra long bar, but seats can fill up quite quickly come happy hour - daily. Aside from their extensive menu of spirits to choose from, their food menu is equally large. I was surprised that a whiskey house had so much food option on the menu. The atmosphere is that of a whiskey and cigar lounge, dimly lit and relaxing. You can easily immerse yourself in there with all their specialty cocktails and vast selection of whiskey & bourbon. The mixed clientele is a nice change from the usual crowds of the Gaslamp quarter. I usually go for happy hour, to be able to easily get a bar seat and to avoid the crowds of the Gaslamp. Happy Hour specialty cocktails are just $6 and there are beer & wine options as well. There’s a selection of Happy Hour Bites from Vietnamese Wings for $1 each to Scotch Eggs for $6 to a pork chop for $12. From my visits here, I’ve had the TWH burger - always a safe option anywhere. I’ve also had the NY Strip Steak, which is pretty good as well. The Vietnamese Wings were a bit uneventful and disappointing, and the Sausage on a Roll was a bit salty & overcooked. Service is good and attentive for the most part, depending who’s behind the bar. Service in the main restaurant/lounge area is consistently good from what I’ve seen. The Whiskey House is definitely worth a visit if that is your spirit of choice.

Best whiskey bar in San Diego

Love this place. Whiskey amazing but lamb burger great. Craft cocktails all made with love. Comfortable bar wish they had music.

The Unicorn

By Sarah S |

I'm blown away by this place. With over 1,300 whiskey selections--along with other liquor varieties--it's no wonder this place is eye candy for adults looking to expand their whiskey experience. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon, which was the perfect time to go considering we were new to the drinking establishment. I feel terrible for forgetting our bartender's name since we found him to be incredibly helpful!! Since there are so many options on the menu, we naturally asked about 1,000 questions ("What do you recommend? What's most popular? What's the most unique? I don't like smoky...give me something that doesn't taste like a cigar ash going down my esophagus.") We ended up trying the Japanese Whiskey #1 tasting flight, which included 5 Japanese whiskies. I decided to try a tequila cocktail and went with the bartender's recommendation of "Dia de Meurtos". Since we arrived around HH (4-7pm), we had two orders of their Belgium fries since they were only $2 each. Yes, we were incredibly healthy that evening, we know. To sum it all up: Great whiskey. Great cocktails. Great Service. Great HH value. Awesome mustaches. NOTE: Ladies beware! There's only one bathroom for men and women. It wasn't a problem for me since I arrived on a slow afternoon. I imagine there are long lines to the bathrooms on Friday and Saturday nights.

A Whisky Lovers Dream!

By MFC31 |

As a whisky lover, this was a must do for me and I wasn’t disappointed! There’s numerous options to sample whisky and whiskeys from around the world, in 5 flight selections or of course individually. I went with an American whiskey selection. Something that could be improved upon is there wasn’t any info about the distilleries or the individual expressions. The bartender just poured them and left me to it. Considering the flights are pre-determined, there should be maybe ready made tasting notes or something. Other than that, I had a brilliant time here!

Great place

By MattandClaire2013 |

Stopped in here just by chance with some friends and loved it. Choice of over 2,300 whiskeys and staff are super knowledgeable. Recommend a nice smokey McCarthy’s from Oregon.

Great crafted cocktails

By FitnessTravels |

Stopped in after work while in town; I tried a few cocktails & the fish tacos. Each was delicious & the bartender was fantastic! Great atmosphere too

Amazing

By tv24 |

The most amazing selection of whiskeys from all over the world. Their whiskey list looks like the wine list from the best restaurant you've ever dined at.

Happy Hour

By patraveller2007 |

Whiskey House is located on a "quiet Street" in the Gaslamp District. Outstanding happy hour 4-7 PM daily. Food choices include steak, pork chop, burger, salmon as well as standard bar food. Huge selection of whiskeys. Great service. Excellent food.

Great atmosphere

By Bill |

Absolutely a must stop for whiskey lovers, had the ceviche and wings off the happy hour menu both were delicious, …………..

Great hole in the wall for any whiskey you desire or a glass of wine

By Doug M |

Looking for an after dinner place. Our waiter recommended this place. It is a bit off the beaten path of the main drag in the Gaslamp district but walking distance. Great atmosphere. They have the most extensive menu of Whiskey I have ever seen. Literally hundreds of bottles. Great music. A bit on the pricey side but a fun experience.

Large selection of whiskey

By SouthernBred59 |

We attended a private party here on the evening of the NCAA Final Four. Drink selection was limited but good, food-especially the bacon Mac an cheese- was tasty.

Great little bar

By bblumberg |

Stopped here for late night drinks sevefral times while visiting San Diego for a meeting. The ambiance is nice and the selection of whiskeys is extraordinary. Despite its name, they have a good selection of beers on tap and wines by the glass. Although we did not eat here. I note a good selection of artisanal cheese and appetizers. We went here almost every night while in the East Village. Nuff said.

Go for the Drinks

By Janis |

Wow! Has this place got some of the very best craft beers on tap!!! Yes the whiskey, the bourbon and the scotch is from an awesome selection. Cocktails are done well, but as always do depend on the bartender on that day (was there on two different days but with the same bartender). Only open after 4 on weekdays. Food is good (not excellent), and the burgers are made to order and done just how you ordered. with a sampling of only 2 burgers while in San Diego this place did have the best one. For beer lovers try Modern Times and Allagash Curioux on tap. The others are excellent too but these were my faves. Angels Envy for a truly sublime whiskey! Happy drinking!

This Place Is for Whiskey Lovers

By Carey C |

The book of whiskey offerings is incredible, it's almost overwhelming. I drink Scotch, so I wanted something not available in my area and that I hadn't already tried. I settled on 2 cask strength drams - Springbank 12 and Amrut Fusion. My husband ordered Hudson Baby American Straight. There really is something for everyone and at all price points. I saw them bring food out but we ate earlier elsewhere. Worth the trip!

Maybe the Best Burger in Town

By KMartinGardner |

This is part of my best burger search. Many places get included in this, and so far, I can't remember a better burger in San Diego than I had tonight at The Whiskey House. Set in the lower corner of the Gaslamp near the convention center, it shares a virtually empty block in China Town with a museum. Definitely worth the hunt, however, as the place offers a modern, low blue light atmosphere mixed with woody down-home accents and a killer whiskey and beer lineup. But the kitchen is built to match, with a wonderful menu and a happy hour fair from 4-7 pm. I opted for the burger, fries, and a Czeck pilsner. Perfect. Would you believe I only paid 10 bucks?

Wide Whiskey Selection, Mixed on Food

By MindStorm |

A friend told us to come here. We are not really big whiskey drinkers though, so that part was not as important to us. If you just want whiskey, this is probably the place to be. We had dinner. The salmon was excellent, but the rib-eye was just so-so. Service was also excellent though, Good Happy Hour, with select dinners at nearly half price.

Very interesting setting but the food left alot to be desired

By lomanclan |

I would recommend the Whiskey House if you were wanting to go out and have a drink. It has a ridiculous selection for whiskey but also has a decent beer selection. However, I would not recommend this establishment for food. My daughter and I split a steak ($38) and it was pretty good, but it only comes with one side. My sister ordered a pork chop and she likes it extremely well done. Had to send back because it was raw in the middle. She got it back again and she couldn't eat it. It had a funky texture. They also got the sides of Scalloped potatoes and asparagus ($9 each for a side... ) and those were pretty good. My brother-in-law got the burger and fries and he was pleased with his food. He and my daughter also ordered a local craft beer and they liked it. All in all, a pretty good experience, but I would definitely eat somewhere else if I came to town again (or stick with a burger) and come here for atmosphere and cocktails later.

Great selection to choose from

By Ted K |

The selection of scotch, Irish whiskey, bourbon and other was extensive. Saturday evening was not busy and allowed for casual conversation.

Whiskey a Go! Go!

By M2922DHkarenh |

Yes, please! A great spot for Happy Hour-where you can enjoy Top Shelf cocktails and a full meal for a discount. It's a dark cozy nook of fun! I enjoyed the wines and my husband the cocktails. He ordered the NY Strip with fries while I munched on the Hamburger and Fries on the HH Menu. Incredible food at a great value.

Excellent selection of whiskey

By YoshiDus |

If you like whiskey this bar is an absolute must visit while in San Diego. I have never seen such an enormous variety of Scotch as well as Bourbon whiskey. They must have over 500 different varieties available. We ordered a flight of 5 different Scotches (the peated beast and the extremely peated beast) and it was great value for money. You are able to perform you own whiskey tasting.

Best Whiskey Selection Ever!

By Mamjensen |

My wife and I stopped in for drinks and appetizers on Friday night. She loves whiskey and the Old Fashion she ordered was delectable! We ordered olives and sausages from the happy hour menu and they were both great. The bar was very nice looking and they had thousands of whiskies on display. Fun!!

Fantastic cocktails!

By sheila s |

Totally fun place with something for everyone. Great list of bourbon, ryes, scotch, etc. great atmosphere and very friendly staff! Service was impeccable. Can't wait to go back!

Dark and Delightful

By mabnicky |

We were in town for a conference and I needed to get out of the hotel for a bit. We strolled without a destination in mind then saw the Whiskey House. Hubby and I went in and found a tall table in the back by the bar. The place is narrow, but it looked like there was a surprisingly good amount of seating. It is VERY dark inside- we used the flashlight on our phones to read the menu. We weren't very hungry and ordered an appetizer to share. The fried Cauliflower was perfectly done- a little char on the outside but not overdone. It came with a marinara that was passable. I ordered the Blood and Sand- it was exactly what I'd hoped from the menu description. Colorful, bright and fruity with a good smack of scotch on the back end. My take on Whiskey House is that it's a great place to get a drink with friends. I wouldn't necessarily go for a full meal, but definitely try some of the appetizers with your libations.

Catch Up with Friends

By Colin W |

My first visit to the Whiskey House and very impressed at the decor food and service. I would recommend to my friends when I return to Australia to put it on their list of places to go in San Diego.

5 star cocktails but 2 star service

By Alan304 |

The cocktail menu and bottle inventory are both top notch. We expected to have cocktails and dinner. After waiting 25 minutes for our server to return after bringing the cocktails to take our meal order, we decided to eat somewhere else. The room is rustic and comfortable.

A HUGE whiskey selection! Really, really huge!

By Ilovetotravel1962 |

The whiskey house has over 1300 different kinds of whiskey. It is amazing! What's even better, they have bartenders that can explain the different whiskey's to you if you are, like me, not real knowledgeable on the various whiskey's. Our bartender was very patient and asked us what type of flavors we enjoyed etc and then made a few suggestions. The price can range from $7-8 for a drink all the way to $100's of dollars. If you know your whiskey's they have it here. They do also have a menu of local craft beers and wine if you are not into whiskey's. They also offer food from burgers all the way to steaks and salmon. I ordered the "Whiskey House Burger" which included ground angus chuck, sharp cheddar, 1000 Island, drunken onions, lettuce and tomato. It was delicious. This came with a side of fries that were also very tasty. For desert my wife and I shared the Laphroig ice cream. This was in house made vanilla ice cream infused with 10 year old Laphroig single malt scotch. Yes, it was as good as it sounds! We were there in the early evening and the atmosphere was very laid back. We accidently stumbled upon this place as we were walking back to our hotel one night. We liked it so much we went back 2 days later. A happy discovery!

whiskey!

By holly g |

a group of us went here during the week (because we heard great things!) it has a really cool vibe and big leather couches and classic rock music…but the whiskey and scotch selection is crazy - gigantic menu just for them…menu is eclectic and food was good…i can see where there were some reviews of poor service - there were only 2 bartenders and no servers - if you are not sitting at bar you had to order own drinks and food and we waited a bit for food…but i would definitely go back - nice place off the main 5th ave drag...

good food and drinks

By Melisa J |

We missed happy hour, which would have made it better due to pricing. But it was tasty and something a bit interesting. Try lamb nachos.

Overwhelming selection and

By David M |

Overwhelming selection and they will have your favorite. We had a specialty old fashioned and Manhattan. Both were outstanding. We are regular bourbon and scotch drinkers and really appreciated what they had to offer. We did not eat but the food looked excellent. If you like the dark liquors this is a must!

Lazy Hippo Brunch

By Nicole M |

Recommended by Todd from our hotel, “The Lazy Hippo” brunch here on Fri-Sat-Sun is a great place for a hidden gem breakfast. Bloody Mary was fantastic, service was friendly and outgoing, music was fun but not blaring and the food was good! Started our morning here before doing a day of sightseeing, may end up here at the end of the day too.

Best Whiskey venue in California maybe world

By traveltime111 |

Whiskey House is just off the Gaslamp District on a quieter, mellow 3rd Ave. The ambience is very relaxed, chill, upscale and sophisticated without pretentiousness. I was mesmerized by the huge selection of whiskeys behind a full wall of glass. It turns out Whiskey House is ranked the largest selection in the world by The Guiness Book of World Records. The Menu is one of the nicest I've ever seen. It's large with selections from various states, flights, as well as a full selection of the finest liquers, beers, vodka and wines. I was hungry figuring they just have basic snacks but was pleasantly surprised with the extensive food menu. My mac & cheese was one of the best I've ever had. The 3 large sausages(bratwurst, lamb, pork)were delicious in the mustard sauce and sauerkraut. My Pierre Ferrand orange liquer was outstanding with 40% alcohol it provided a most pleasant buzz. For whiskey, I chose the "Different Countries #3"(Penderyn Wales, Knappogue Castle Ireland, Hibiki Japan, Compass Box Scotland, Knobb Creek USA). This consists of five 1/2 ounce glasses. The aroma and taste of all five was outstanding. They each had very distinct character and flavor profiles. All memorable. I was personally attended to by Ryan the Owner who is most gracious, courteous and professional. Service was also very prompt. I lounged on the plush leather sofa in the back soaking in the atmosphere, bottle displays and last but not least great whiskey buzz. Verdict: The best whiskey specialty restaurant I've ever been to and one of the best of any kind in California.

Heaven

By Matt F |

Whiskey selection is unmatched. Food was great, as were the cocktails. Wish I could have spent more time here. Can't beat a menu that has a full page of just Manhattan and Old Fashioned varieties.

Great food and Whiskey Selection

By Monkebones |

They have over 1300 types of whiskey and a pretty decent food menu. The burger and fries is delicious! Bit the kitchen is not open all night. It closes at 11 pm. It is a pretty low key bar. Music in the background and low lighting day or night. The Apriscotchy is delicious and not to sweet. The Bark Bark Berry is super sweet, but tasty if you are into sweet drinks. They also have a few whiskey samplers ranging from $20 -$200. Over all it's a pretty chill relaxing place. Great place to just hang out with friends

The best selection and variety of whiskey you will find

By servantsheart |

The ambiance in this bar was just right for my husband and I to enjoy a pre-dinner drink (or two). The music was mellow, decor beautiful and comfortable. We loved the floor to ceiling liquor cabinets. I had the best whiskey sour! And it was only $5 during happy hour. My second drink was a peach whiskey sour. Amazing. My husband is a drink snob and he was thoroughly impressed. He enjoyed two varieties of old fashioneds and was highly impressed. He visited the bar one time prior and had a burger which he said was really good. We will be back for sure when we head back to San Diego.

Dark but SO cool

By BearsCubsFan |

Walked here from our hotel. We love trying restaurants when we are on vacation, and we love whiskey. Win win. Ok, I almost walked past, my eye was on the hippo sign next door. We walked in and I was shocked at how dark it is in there. Literally a tiny pinch of more light would be awesome in my opinion. Anyways...you will be blown away by the whiskey menu! They say 1800 whiskeys and I think that is the truth. So many things are great...the water glasses were heavy lead crystal, the silverware is legit heavy silverware. We had the 3 sausage platter and a cheese. Our server was super helpful with our cheese choice. We didn't eat too much because we were wanting to sample other places too. It was a great time. Loved the whiskey sign, the chandeliers...just wish it was a bit brighter in there. Just a bit!

Ambiance and (liquid) Flavor Adventure

By andsomething |

This spot is easy to find and draws you in with the dark wood tables, deep leather chesterfields, and dim lamps on each table. I started with Whiskey Sour #1 - so smoooooth, and that cherry garnish was a perfect pair. I’ll be back here for every trip to San Diego and keep working my way through the WSours. Notable mention - Blood & Sand isn’t frothy/smooth, more intensity balancing the fresh sweetness and the yummy scotch. Why not a 5? We just arrived and needed nourishment. No info online or on menus about the kitchen closing hours before the bar did. We would’ve stayed all night but we needed a snack at least.

Best Happy Hour in San Diego!

By sandybonvoyage |

Best Happy Hour in San Diego! Plus they have a great variety of food items on Happy Hour, their cocktails are really great, the ambiance is casual and relaxed, they just opened a patio area, which is pretty cool. My favorite cocktail is the Daiquiri and Whiskey Sour, the wine selection is also great, high quality wine options red or white. They also have an amazing selection of whiskeys from around the world. The staff is super friendly and helpful, I highly recommend this place also very well located in downtown, you can walk to many places from here.

Whiskey selection for days.......& days!!! A lil more than we bargained for...yikes!!!

By billionsandnocure |

Decided to stop in for an after dinner drink! We thought we were going to relax ...not quite what we were expecting! Their was a young lady that was soooo inebriated (beyond belief) that in all my 48 years I have never seen "anyone" in such distress due to over drinking. Mind you I own a beach house in Cabos hence I've seen a lot!!! It was bad!!! We were afraid their might be more going on so we stuck around to ensure this young lady would stay conscious. Quite scary to watch! Her eyes were rolling back in her head as if she was going under pretty unsettling as she was sitting at the table next to ours. Her male friend was trying to hold her UP & she was so out of it she continued to slouch back down in a laying position with no shoes & her under garments exposed 😩🙈 As a mother of a daughter this truly hampered our overall experience. She cried in the street! Her knees buckled and she went down in front of the W. House. Not a good situation! We ALL felt their was something up, besides the normal drunken state ...we asked her male friend if we can call a cab or assist in some manner his reply was interesting & did not equate. Some of what occurred & what we seen was challenging to shake off! (BACK TO W. House) I loved the interior ...it felt swanky & fun! Very nicely done. Our drinks were good! Server was nice enough as well as attentive. Most servers were consumed with the above situation. I would have to return in order to get a true feel of this place...due to the chaos we could not relax which hindered our overall experience.

Best Lamb Burger EVER!

By PhiladelphiaSmile |

Love the atmosphere and the food was fantastic. And the whiskey selection is impressive. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Great place, amazing atmosphere

By supersnookers |

What a find. We went here two nights in a row. They have over 1800 whiskeys to sample there. They have a great happy hour from 4-7 everyday with $5 drink specials and cheap eats. We had the Al Capone, Whiskey Sour, and New York cocktail and they were all super yummy! We also had the home cut fries for $2 and they were good! The atmosphere is cool. They also have beer and wine too if you aren't a whiskey person. Can't wait to get back!

Happy Hour Daily - Great Service

By Claire B |

This is mine and my fiance's favorite date night spot. They have happy hour daily until 7 I believe. From the happy hour menu: The Vietnamese wings are killer, the steak and fries, as well as the kale salad. Of course they have all kinds of Whiskey, and tons of wine options. Not many beer options so be aware of that. They have a very impressive Charcuterie board for serious cheese enthusiasts and wine to pair. Its dark and intimate inside, but can get kind of loud. Great service and a lot of locals love this spot so you know its good!

Whiskey lovers hidden gem

By KNT5 |

The ambiance is nice and the selection of whiskeys is extraordinary. Love the walls decor were lined with various whiskey bottles, beautifully displayed in lighted cabinets. The atmosphere was very relaxed, just sitting, chatting, and sipping enjoyed your drinks. Whiskeys according to categories like "Japanese Whiskeys" or "Balvenie Distillery". There's a selection for every palate and expensive price range. Nice layer of Manhattan with Templeton Rye, Antica & rose petal - It was great Perfect mix whiskey sour with a black cherries garnish The Whiskey House definitely knows what they are doing. This spot would definitely coming back to and exploring more - Must try Happy Hour

Marvelous Find!

By Go2FunFood |

Whiskey galore and the bartenders know how to pick it and mix it. There are so many options we had such a good time working with the bartender to explore them. The second night we added food and it was simple but yummy.

Pretty good

By msemp |

Second time here - last time there were maybe a dozen people in the place - it was jam-packed today. Ate at the bar to avoid a 40min wait. Drinks lived up to the hype. Sausage plate and brussel sprouts for apps, both good. We both had the rib-eye special. Well cooked, way-thin cut and while It was good, quite frankly didn’t resemble a rib-eye - it looked a heckuva lot more like a sirloin. Overall it was good, the setting is fun and the drink selection outstanding. I’ll go back as long as it isn’t packed to the gills.

Great place for a cocktail

By DudeInDenver |

What a great place to kick back for drinks - great environment and an incredible selection of whiskey The happy hour snacks are tasty & low cost

Fantastic place for Bourbon/Whiskey lovers

By Alisen J |

If you're looking for an amazing selection of Bourbon and Whiskey drinks, look no further than The Whiskey House in downtown San Diego. This venue is located in the Gaslamp Quarter and is close enough walking distance from the convention center. A huge selection to choose from (check out the vast collection on the wall); they also have champagne cocktails and can make any cocktail you desire. Come hungry too because they have a wonderful food menu to include burgers, brats, fries and other yummy treats. I recently hosted my birthday party here and the restaurant took exceptional care to make sure everything was impeccable. Great for date night, a pre-business dinner cocktail, or just a casual Friday evening happy hour.

Whole lot of Whiskey

By Randall |

I’m a Whiskey and Gin fella and found this while at my hotel. Stopped by after a trip to the beach. I got there during happy hour. I ordered the Vietnamese wings and the chorizo Mac and cheese to eat. To drink, I had a rattlesnake sour, the happy hour whiskey sour, and I tried the Aberfeldy 15 year aged in red wine and some tempelton rye maple (if these are spelled wrong I apologize) great food, whiskey and great staff. If only I had the money to splurge on the Pappy Van Winkle but unfortunately I ain’t made of money. If I come back to San Diego I will stop by again.

A quieter, more sophisticated Gaslamp experience

By McMidgy |

This place is off the main couple streets within the Gaslamp quarter. My husband and I had spent an hour in Seersucker which is right smack in the middle of the action, and it was overwhelming. He doesn't really go for the Vegas club vibes, and it's a shame to lose a good night over a loud atmosphere. So, we wandered a bit off the beaten path and found ourselves in the Whiskey House. The place was three weeks old and looked stellar. The interior design is elegant and thoughtful, and the whiskey selection is not to be believed. I asked for the bartender's favorite cocktail on the menu and as I look at the menu now, I'm not even sure it's still there! I cannot remember the name of it, but I trust that the cocktail list has gone through a lot of thoughtful editing since then and so I trust that there's something still there on the menu that's just as spectacular. This is a place where you can come to quietly (at least for the Gaslamp quarter, quiet) sip on something you love without all the extra thump of the bass. Great place.

Hello cheap bartender

By Leiandra M |

Hello cheap bartenders. I ordered a bourbon Manhattan and they gave me a scotch drink. I know the difference between bourbon and scotch. After I asked to change it I watched the bartender pour the next drink and he put evan Williams in my drink instead of knob creek rye. when I called him out on it he poured it out and said they just changed the menu (that's a lie) then he poured the correct drink finally. I know my whiskey, scotch, etc... the bartender didn't and thought I was stupid. I wont come back

Downtown’s best kept secret

By Rita Y |

I came in for brunch with colleagues and we had a wonderful time! They hold the Guinness Book of World Record for largest whiskey selection in the world! I tried The Bees Knees and it was delicious. I had the pancake trio for lunch and it was so good. They have an incredible brunch selection. They have 3 event spaces to hold parties or private events - the gold room, the lounge and the patio outdoors. There’s also an option to do full buyouts. I can’t wait to come back here for brunch and drinks soon!

Great Happy Hour

By Sheela S |

Interesting decor. Whiskeys from all over the world! The happy hour soups and chicken wings are phenomenal. I would go back there in a heartbeat.

Yes

This is a great addition to DT San Diego. They have an unmatched whiskey selection (among other drinks) and a good vibe. Definitely worth checking out.

Last call at the Whiskey

By Papa G |

When you got a hankering for a whiskey > there's no better place than the whiskey house. This place has an awesome ambience and a whiskey for everyone's pallet. Tucktaway in the "Chinatown of gaslamp" it's worth The short trek to this illustrious liquor Joint!

A true temple for whisky lovers

By iRoby61 |

The review is in the title, but everything else is up to scratch, this is the surprise. Beautiful place, where the absolute protagonist are the bottles of whiskey. Friendly and professional service. Very good dishes from a captivating menu that come to the table from the kitchen. Very good beers of the rich paper. And then indulge in whiskey, pure or mixed. Unreachable Old Fashion. If you come to San Diego, stop by this real temple for whiskey lovers. Roby

If you appreciate whiskey, this place is Mecca.

By Clint W |

I had no idea when we walked in that I was coming into the Guinness record holder for number of whiskeys. This place is incredible. Not only can you choose from the hundreds and hundreds of whiskeys from every part of the world, they do flights as well. We also got some food because I refused to leave, and that was good also. I cannot explain how cool this place is for someone who loves whiskey. It is worth a trip to this city just to go there. I will go here any time i come back to try something new.

Endless Burbons and Whiskeys ~ Delicious and Extremely Reasonable!

By PapaK60 |

Just flew into San Diego ~ looking for something close to the Marriott ... ended up at the Whiskey House! What a delight. Incredible service ~ perfect drinks and nice mix of hops and barely ... the happy hour menu was extremely reasonable and the dishes were simply delicious! High recommend you consider it!

What a find!

By Lcarr9901 |

Dropped in for a drink with a friend on a Wednesday night. We’re lucky enough to get the last 2 seats at the bar. Place was packed. Such a cool place. Over 1,300 whiskeys and the bartenders are very knowledgeable. Ended up staying for dinner. Food was great. Would definitely go again!

Id like to live in the Whiskey House

By mcdedrick |

A huge selection of Whiskeys as well as other wines and spirits round this place off nicely. It's new to the Gaslamp in downtown San Diego and a welcome addition it is. If you're looking for a happy hour destination or some place to pass the after dinner hours this is it. The bar food is quite nice, very inexpensive during happy hour. The Moscow Mule and Whiskey Sour at 5$ each are a great buy and delicious. Try the scotch egg and Mac n cheese. Atmosphere is perfect for a whiskey house and staff is super friendly. A very welcome addition to San Diego nightlife scene.

Absolutely stunning whiskey selection!

By James G |

I discovered this place when I was in town for a conference. As a bourbon aficionado, I was thrilled when I walked in and saw their selection. Although the prices for the rarest offerings were pretty steep, the prices on the whiskies that are difficult for the average guy to find but are more easily available for a place like this were very reasonable. What a great place to discover what you really like without having to spend a fortune on buying several bottles. The bartenders were quite knowledgeable and passionate about their job. Great experience!

The coleslaw is out of this world, but bear with me here.

By JvidalF |

The coleslaw is out of this world, but bear with me here. The Whiskey House is a paradise for scotch/whiskey lovers. An amazing selection of all types of scotches, with great service, and delicious food platters. The cheese selection was fantastic, but the coleslaw. Let me say that I am not a fan of coleslaw. At all. But the one they served is arguably one of the most delicious small plates I've had at a bar. So come in for the scotch, enjoy the cheese and don't miss out on the coleslaw.

Great Place!

By aliciace |

Plenty of selections for drinks. Not as many food choices, but the lamb burger and fries is delicious. If you love whiskey and scotch they also have flight options.

Amazing selection of whiskey, over 4,800 bottles. If you are an enthusiast you have to make time to visit. The bartender was knowledgeable and friendly and they literally have every whiskey you have ever heard of. Must try.

Amazing!!!

I've never been to a place dedicated solely to whiskeys - the choice of whiskeys here was amazing (a solid number from quite a few countries across the world) but if you aren't a connoisseur, it may get tricky. My husband ordered one of the selections of 5 on the menu which allowed him to sample a few. We also had dinner here and the most "difficult" part was trying to read the menu as it's very dark in here (great atmosphere but makes reading the menu near impossible despite the little oil lamps...). We had burgers which were decent - not the most amazing burgers ever but good, well prepared and we left happily having spent a nice evening here. One remark: the interior design doesn't seem matching across the restaurant...it feels a bit like parts of the interior have been redone - the whiskey "library", the whiskey sign, the sofas and low tables, the oil lamps...they all go with a certain vibe. The you have some tables with black & white wallpaper and "up-holstered" beige ceilings with little gem stones which - together with the blue lighting at the entrance feel like they belong to a different restaurant/club.

Loved the set up, great place to visit and have drinks. Our business crew had a wonderful visit here.

Certainly a whiskey drinkers destination and they do make a very good old fashion. The seating area has couches and would be a good setting to sit and talk over cocktails. However, the music is too loud for relaxing conversation (at least for me).

Mediocre food and drinks

My expectations were a little too high for the reality of this place. The food was good. The service was absolutely terrible. The drink menu was not impressive. I love scotch and my husband loves whiskey. They had the standards but nothing unusual. I was really underwhelmed by my sazerac. My husband tried a peach bourbon that was not drinkable. The bartenders didn't even notice that he didn't touch it. In the end we each had three drinks and they were okay but not great.

Almost overwhelming selection

My wife & I stopped here Sept 9 after a tour of the Gaslamp district and were amazed by the selection of whiskeys & other spirit choices. Plus the bartender & atmosphere of the place was excellent. We'll definitely try to get back the next time we visit!

Great spot to unwind in a relaxed ambient

Been wanting to get a taste of SD's own twist of 'Old Fashioned' and The Whiskey House did not disappoint! Whether you're in town for business or leisure, make sure to make your way downtown and give this place a visit. Excellent selection of food menu also!
