We were in Brooklyn for an event and wanted to find an Irish Pub. This one came up and was on our way home. We were pleased to be able to get a table with no reservation. The restaurant took our temperatures and recorded our information for contact tracing. I was observing the staff cleaning tables and they were doing a great job. We enjoyed a pretzel and an appetizer. The Chicken Pot Pie, as well as, the Bangers and Mash were great. We enjoyed a few different beers with our food. A nice experience and we are certain to be back.

Had to eat the monk was walking distance food is all right don't Get it confused. With a real restaurant. Strictly. Bar quality Try to be but at the end of day good bar food that's it Lobster bisque was not goo d mac cheese all right short ribs week like I said. Bar food

Haven't been in this bar in a very long time. What a remodel. I almost wanted to go into the confessional. This is a great remodel. We had a burger and the baby back ribs. They were very good. the service was excellent and the atmosphere was delightful with approx 10 TV screens throughout the restaurant and bar area. Prices on the menu were appropriate for the area. Kids menu comes with ice cream. This is a gotta go place.

Just spent 12 hours of air travel and really needed a good meal. While walking up to the Pub we noticed that the Sunday night “open mic” had a tiny young girl playing Irish tunes on her violin. She was great and the music really added to the ambiance of the Pub. On the menu the house ½ lb burger with blue cheese looked great. The initial price looked good then I noticed that anything additional was a $1 here, $2 there. I’ll have to admit that the burger was great, but the fries were a little dry and minimal quantity. The beer list offered a great variety of expensive local beers but very few national known beers. My wife ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. She will swear that it was the best Pot Pie she has ever had. The pie was so large she had the remainder of the pie the following night. Not sure whether I’d go back, parking is a huge problem in the neighborhood, the service was maybe average and the frankly I wasn’t impressed.

The food is great, cool atmosphere and we all had a good time. We made reservations for a party of 8. We split some appetizers, wings and calamari. For the meal I had the cheese omelette with fries. Everyone else ordered some other dishes and were all happy with their choices. It was the first time there and the staff was really nice and gave me some history of the establishment. I will make my way back to The Wicked Monk when I am in the area.

Good food, liquor a little expensive but the drinks are made well, friendly crowd, sports on the TVs, very enjoyable atmosphere with a DJ spinning dance music on the weekend and frequent live music/open mic at other times. A terrific Irish pub definitely worth paying a visit.

This is a popular pub on the 3rd Avenue between 95 and 96th Streets in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. There is a history behind the decor which gives a nice aura to the place. There is live music on some nights and the restaurant is open for brunch, lunch and dinner. I recommend their burger. The service is quick and pleasant.

I have eaten here a few times, definitely a good place to visit.Their food is always great and their drinks are always good too.

Nice little place to have a cocktail or two and grab a bite to eat. Atmosphere darkly lit and gothic. Relaxing and different. Big bar with friendly people. Nice addition to Bay Ridge.

next door to the Varrazzano Bridge ---wonderful atmosphere and the food matches --potions were ample and tasty --parking can be a bit tricky if you have a car --great place to meet and/or just hang out if you don't feel like going into Manhattan

I love going to lunch here. At night it's more of a bar crowd and a bit noise , but we're more senior so enjoy lunch. The food is terrific and Annette, Michael and David plus Juan are great. Makes you feel comfortable by yourself or with s friend.

Nothing exciting about this place. The food was average and prices were moderate. Likely, I will not be going back.

Liquor drinks, as expected, on the high end ($8 for a shot of Drambuie though it was a little more than the standard shot of 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 ounces) but beer prices are good. Friendly crowds, friendly staff, monitors displaying various sporting events (this bar usually gets PPV fights then charges accordingly for entry on those evenings but normal entry for the bar is, of course, free), and there are evenings of open mic when all musicians are invited with their instruments. Definitely worth visiting and revisiting.

The venue is pretty cool with its old looking venire and plenteous TVs. The beers rotate almost every day. They were out of like the first 3 beers requested by the group. The menu is pricy. 16 for a burger and 24 for a normal type of plate. I went with the Ruben spring rolls for $10.00. They were filled with what seemed like a creamed corned beef and had a dipping sauce. They were ok but really? $5.00 a spring roll? The beers were also $8-$12 for a normal 12-16 oz glass. We were a large group but when it came to bill time she gave us all one huge check and said she couldn’t break it down individually which meant some people ended up paying more than they should for taxes or drinks. It was an ok meal and ok service. The lack of available beers, high prices, standard menu and service not willing to go the extra mile makes it average.

Went there on Oct 26, 2019 and the band stunk. People dancing looked as bad as the band. No food, not even chips after 10 pm. Boring...I’d rather stay home.

Dining at the Wicked Monk is a fun experience. The wood at the bar, stained glass, and church pulpit have all been salvaged from a monastery in Ireland. Now to the food. We had mussels in white wine which were good but the entrees were spectacular! We had salmon with roasted potatoes and tuna steak both cooked to perfection and presented flawlessly. The servers are not only knowledgeable, but very attentive and friendly The combination of good food and excellent service is why we go out in the first place. The Monk provides it all!

You wouldn't expect this place from the outside to be such a nice treat!! Don't get me wrong - it looks nice from the outside, but the food is really, really good! We especially like the Reuben Spring Rolls and the Shrimp dumplings. The burgers are delicious - you really can't go wrong with anything you order. Definitely a must try.

We went there for a retirement lunch. The beer garden was great, the bartender Danielle made the day enjoyable. She was amazing. Wings and big pretzel were a hit. Can’t wait to go back.

I see people calling this "bar food". The food is excellent and very consistent. Usually I am there in the early evening. Maybe some of these "bar food" people are there much later at night ordering food at the bar.. This is a bar that does an excellent business at the bar. Every time I am there, they have a manager on the floor. The waitresses are very good. It is a busy place, I am sure that there might be occasional hiccups, but to my eyes it is an well run place

Nice restaurant and very attentive staff. Great food selection and beer options. Highly recommend if you want a good meal in a nice atmosphere.

With a variety of beers, both on tap and bottled, you are sure to find one to enjoy. The menu has something for everyone's tastes from the appetizers to the main course. We loved the Irish breakfast served on Sunday's for brunch, and made us wish that we were in the Wicklow Hills or the beaches of Galway. The music on the weekend is great but a tad loud for dinner conversation. The decor is authentic from a church rescued in Ireland and though stone, gives a very warm feel. Come and enjoy a taste and sip of Ireland!

We moved away from the area about 5 years ago and we come back into Brooklyn, we always try to stop into "The Monk" . The food is always so great and the service is friendly, from the nice girls who greet you at the door to the bartenders & waitstaff. Great bands, amazing drinks and always a fun time, we will definitely be back!

There is probably at least one bar on each block in tis part of Bay Ridge. Went there for a Holiday Party. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Appetizers were served all evening and were tasty.

We were visiting friends in the area and they took us to The Wicked Monk for lunch. The brunch menu was off to a good start with a free complementary bloody mary, mimosa, or draft beer with a sandwich or entree. My wife had the Reuben Spring Rolls and found them a confusing mixture of tastes. I had the fish and chips and received two large pieces of cod, served, oddly enough, in a bowl with a large piece of broccoli. One piece of cod was overcooked and dry; the other, undercooked, mushy, and tasteless. We politely ate a little, but will not be back.

Its a Pub-type of a place, somewhat loud, but decor is pretty kool inside. The food was OK but can't say I am looking forward to going again. Its a bit on a heavy side for me although I did like various mac and cheese options they had on the menu.

We had dinner here with another couple on Sunday evening. The food, which is pub-style was very good - large drink selection as well. Burgers are perhaps the best in Bay Ridge and my lobster roll on potato bread was delicious. For appetizers we had wings and clams on the half shell - excellent. Service top notch as well. So, why the "Average" Rating? Because of the NOISE. The people chatter in the place (which is rather large) is understandable since the place is very popular and consequently crowded most of the time. However, it was exacerbated by a live bongo player accompanied by a saxophone, neither of which were very talented. I felt like I was listening to grammar school children practice their musical instruments - only with the volume magnified. They were so loud that we had to shout in order to converse with our friends sitting directly across the table from us. As good as the food/drinks and service were, I would not return to Wicked Monk again without first checking whether or not they would be providing any "entertainment" that night.

I have been to the Monk on regular occasions for the last 10 years and I have to say it's one of the best bars in Brooklyn for drinks, bar games and general fun... Can't wait until the next time.

Had a great time last night lot of people live music had a really good burger good for singles or couples very fun place

great staff;manager is delightful; and the food is great...cooked right and for the right price; nice atmosphere ; music a bit too loud for my taste and if you want to have a conversation prepare to yell...lol But...good place to go

The decor is all gothic-medieval with stone walls, gargoyles, faux stained glass windows and a beautiful fresco over the bar. This is a fun place to grab a drink, eat a deliciously sloppy burger, chat with friends or make some new ones. I would not recommend the fried mashed potatoes - they were severely overpriced for what was an extremely underwhelming appetizer.

This place is great for ages 8 to 98!! There is always a different crowd at certain times of the day or night. I've been here many times and always had a great experience . If you love tap beer this is the place!! I always get Stella on tap.:) The food is decent, typical bar food.

Went for a friend's birthday. Ordered a home-made chicken pot pie. the crust was really fluffy and high. It was filled with a heavenly concoction of vegetables, chicken and gravy. Other friends ordered other types of foods and were all equally satisfied.

The ambiance is nice. Cool look to it. However, the food is mediocre. Also had a party there for work and the food was awful.

Awesome meal, great food great service and super atmosphere, definitely the highlight on our business trip. We had a variety of the meals and beers.

If you are in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, it is easy to stop in the Wicked Monk and grab a quick bite on third avenue. Good bar menu to satisfy your taste. The people are nice. Lots of locals supporting their efforts. The place is decorated in stain glass and beautiful wood to keep with the theme. House wine was ok Average prices. Quick and easy. Live music some nights to keep you entertained and Plenty of Tv's to watch all the sports you wish.

A solid family bar & restaurant. We came for dinner & enjoyed it all. I had the fish & chips which was a nice cod fillet very moist and fresh. Joe had Rueben roll also well made& tasty. Hinda's salad with salmon was also good. There's many beers on the menu if your so inclined. I would come back again. One drawback the live music which was ok was too loud for my tastes.

The Wicked Monk is built/decorated in the style of Gothic Irish Monastery and the bar apparently has original wood and stained glass shipped direct from the chapel in Greenmount Monastery, Gallows Green, County Cork in Ireland. They served good food (I had a Wicked Monk burger), which was reasonably priced and we had a lovely waitress who originally hails from Yorkshire, so we had a good chat! I'll definitely eat here again. Next time, I think I'll eat a bit later and try to catch some live music.

really good burger and a good brunch menu, tv basically in every corner so you don't missed a scene of your favorite sports. on the weekends they have live music which i like a lot.

First time going to this restaurant. The restaurant is fantastic, service excellent, food great. A little noisy, but that's okay when everything else is great. I would highly recommend going here for burgers and a beer. Atmosphere is dimly lit. Servers make you feel special

Their Chef is fantastic, he had a blended menu , from burgers, to garlic mussels with a great broth, the double cut pork chop is so good, excellent variety. Usually go for lunch. Staff and Manager are friendly and out going, make you feel welcome.

As you can tell by the name, the Wicked Monk is a sports bar that's designed as a twist on a modern cathedral turned into a rampant drinking festival. The food is especially good that you cannot go wrong with whatever you might order from the menu and the price is reasonable. There are screens all over with different sports on for all tastes. A very interesting decor, a good vibe with delicious food and a wide variety of drinks that will assure you a good time while watching your favourite team.

If you're in Bay Ridge, check out the Wicked Monk on Third Avenue. The interior looks like an old Gothic church, right down to the confessionals inside. Though we didn't eat there ( only went for some after dinner drinks), the bartender there was phenomenal, though the bar was very busy. Attentive, and service was great. The Monk is noisy, due to the many patrons in the place, but fun! Didn't have the food, but will definitely go back to give it a try, as the Monk is close to where I live.

Nice friendly local bar with décor that separates it from most others. The bar wood, Dj booth, stained glass, etc all came from an old Irish monastery in Ireland. As expected at an Irish pub that have a wide assortment of beers and ale along with the usual wines and liquors. Food is interesting with Irish specialties and some specialties like corned beef Rueben spring rolls giving the menu a modern twist. Some of the meal was great ...some just ok. Our table of 8 enjoyed the spring rolls, and fried lobster appetizer. For the main course we sampled a steak ...it was great ..salmon was great too but chicken pot pie was too creamy and chicken had an old taste like it had been around too long. Manager was very nice and attentive but the server who was nice was slow.

From nice appys to kraft beers to terrific entrees. My daughter is a regular and I’ve never been. We came in from Staten Island to visit friends and had a great meal. Beautiful atmosphere great service and will definitely visit again.

We met a group of friends for brunch at 2 pm on a Sunday. Everything about this place was positive: very good food, unusual decor, excellent service and good value. Ten of us ordered different brunch dishes and everyone enjoyed their meal. The fish and chips were top rate, turkey burger (which can be tasteless) was well seasoned and very tasty, omelet was really good, salads, and so on. Not one complaint from anyone in our group. If you like something different, you won't find another restaurant like this one. The stained glass, gargoyles and dark wood make it unique. Visit the bar and check out the ceiling mural. Would definitely go back!

I was introduced to this place by family who live in Brooklyn, food was great, beer was excellent, prices excellent compared to Manhattan! also doubles as a sports bar where most sports ( even English premier league ) be seen in the bar area good menu from comfort foods to more traditional meals

Watched a ballgame and had an early dinner. Caught them at the change over from lunch to dinner menu so there was a short delay in being able to order. Wasn't a problem, just watched the game. Had the steakhouse sandwich. The meat was tasty and cooked just right. I really liked their fries. Great selection of beers on tap. Would definitely eat here again.

I've been going to the Monk for years...way before it's relocation and it's still a staple. Usually has a band playing and always plays good music between sets. The decor is what you'd expect for a pub and spacious for the area. I haven't been there for food to review but the environment is great for good beer, good music, and a good time.

Not sure what happened but it did. I figured I would try something differant than a burger. I ordered the shepards pie and regretted it. The lamb filling was good but there wasn't much in it and the potatoes had no flavor at all. I felt like I was eating cardboard. This is will not keep me away. I will try again but probably stick with the burger.

Our waitress was slow and never came back to our table to see if we needed anything. Our fries were cold and greasy. Our burgers were sopping in oil. Inedible. I used to like going here but the last two times were bad. Our appetizers were ok. I spoke to the owner and he didn't charge us for part of the meal and offered us a free drink. We just wanted to get out and get food so we left. Not going back.

Burger was delish. but my sweet potato fries were burnt. Without argument, the waiter brought me another plate made right.

Wicked is amazing. The music is wonderful. The story is very good and funny. This is by far my favorite Broadway show. We had orchestra seats center and it was great. I suggest getting good seats it's worth it.

Food is good, service is good and its a cool place to sit and look at- stained glass windows and it looks like the inside of a cathedral. I like the fish and chips.

Labor Day weekend, and the place was basically quiet Saturday night with 16-20 customers... not even close to pre-COVID activity. It's a microcosm of current Fort Hamilton/Bay Ridge, which by 1:30AM was saying good night. Will this establishment and its neighborhood return to their former glory? Best guess is 50-50 possibility.

Friendly atmosphere, good food, pleasant service. Went with friends and enjoyed food as well as music. Manager was very pleasant and attentive as well as server. Look forward to taking family visiting soon. Loved their décor and monastery with stained glass windows. Nice Bar with good selection of Beer and drinks. Good Irish Pub with nice selection of food. Everything served in a timely fashion. Servers came back to ask if everything was alright and if we needed anything else. Would recommend this place to others for a quality restaurant as well as for entertainment and a drink.

I was ther with my friends, food is really delicious and stuff is super friendly. Music and atmosphere is really cool too.

I was in Brooklyn to do Bucket List Stuff, stayed at Ft. Hamilton and found this wonderful restaurant listed in the material found in the room on Base. So we had lunch there on Sunday and returned later Sunday evening for dinner, and loved it. The food was great, the entertainment, a Folk Singer, actually had me in tears he was that good, and the owner Chris , was a true gentleman. I am 74, I live in Florida and will never be back to my birthplace Brooklyn ever again, but," THE MONK" made my trip a memorable one.

Stopped I for a late lunch today. The Bartender recommended the Cobb Salad. Without reservation the best salad I remember having. Serious super crunchy yet tender inside bacon bits thick enough to remember forever. Excellent tap selection in a warm dark wood upscale bar setting. If you're looking for a good time in Bay Ridge this should be considered.

Had to stop in with a name like The Wicked Monk. Unique décor with stained glass windows and some gargoyles perched around the place. Food was good and service was excellent.

The Wicked Monk used to be a bar on 5th Avenue that seemed to cater to Gen X and Y'ers. It has since taken over the space that used to be held by Bally Bunion and I love the place. I love the decor and they have a good selection of beer. I have never had a bad meal and the service is very pleasant. I like that they have a good selection of salads and their Mac and Cheese selections are great. I have not spent too much time at the bar but it is for sure a sports bar/hang out the later you go. I consider this one of my go-to restaurants for casual, good food and nice atmosphere.

Vast menu offering a variety of gourmet mac and cheese, traditional pub fare, and delicious salads. My go-to pub when in Brooklyn.

A typical american sports bar with an irish touch. You can enjoy a lot of different sorts of beer and liquid. The service is great and the selection of different beers is amazing, if you prefer bottled or drafted you will find a sort to drink. Also the starters are very good, especially when you watch a sports game. The see with random people makes this place great and its easy to find new friends. Its a location I would come back to every time.

Ate dinner here one evening just before the evening rush - nice atmoshpere. Had fish and chips that were very good, portion not too large but typical quality for New York area restaurant. Good selection of Draft Beer, much more selection if you prefer bottled beer. Server was very good too.

My girls and I came here for dinner after our annual trip to see the Dyker Christmas Lights. It was a quiet Wednesday night in mid-December, so it wasn't very crowded. Our waitresses were very nice and attentive. We ate crab cakes and fried calimari to start, both delicious. My daughter ordered lobster mac & cheese. Although it tasted very good, she found it to be very rich and heavy. My other girl and I both had salads; she had one with grilled shrimp and I had one with salmon. Both were wonderful! Cappuccinos rounded out the meal. Definitely a place I would go back to!
Good Irish Pub
The Wicked Monk has moved from it's previous Bay Ridge location to Third and 95th. The decor is fun, lIke a monastery with stained glass windows. The atmosphere is ruined by big screen TVs that attract cheering sports fans and loud kids. Nights are better with Thursday New Orleans music and quieter adult crowd. Irish pub food is good, especially the fish and chips.
