Don’t. Do. It.

By Discover737769 |

There is no possible way this place has more than two starts. FIRST .. we get there and the hostess has zero energy. No greeting. Just “give me your name so I can clock out” energy. Our waitress.. bless her heart.. it was clear that she was new. However.. WHERE WAS HER SUPPORT?!? We waited 30 mins for our drink that were basically water downed by the time they arrived. When I took them back to the bar… yes I took them to the bar .. the promptly remade the drinks but not before making sure the bartender was not blamed stating “the server left it there too long” smh. So our appetizer gets to the table. Green onions. After clearly stating an allergy to onions. Ok. Next appetizer came out fine. Entree. Again onions. Brought out another order that I had to pick onions out of and finally just packed it to go to give away. Finally we’re over it and decided to leave. You would think the hostess would say “thank you” or “goodnight” NOOOOPE! I had to say to her “you have a good night too” for her to pick up her head and realize she WASNT DOING HER JOB!!! Oh… did I mention this was an anniversary celebration. Yeah. I’m done.

Wonderful Food, plodding pace, and quite a journey of flavor

This kitchen and bar arrives at a great time and in a good location as the westside of Atlanta expands exponentially. It's a more upscale eatery with pricing to match, but that doesn't kill the experience. This isn't tavern food, and instead, it's really more of a dining experience. At the outset, I wish to tell you that from walking in to walking out, we clocked at 2 hours. I'd like to tell you that it didn't feel like 2 hours, but there wasn't anything particularly efficient about the service or the time that it took between the courses. I'm not complaining, as we enjoyed this spot, immensely, but diners should be aware that you don't get in and out in a cool 45 minutes. The Woodall offers some different drink specials. Several at our table enjoyed them and said they were fresh, unique, and delicious. Remember the name of one you like, because if you return, they can possibly recreate it or something close to it. Our group had the Southern Heirloom beets, sans Gravlax (salmon) and even though we don't know the dish with the fish, we felt this appetizer was great without it. Pigs in a Blanket are excellent, and while it doesn't promise to be the most complex and wonderful item you've ever eaten, I can assure you that we found them to be delicious. Review the menue and ask questions. Our server was knowledgable and accurately described dishes. A note on the ingredients. There are some combinations with descriptions that may even seem nonsensical (not that they don't go together, but rather that it's difficult to decipher what's actually in the dish), but ask for an explanation, and ye shall receive. (I'm talking to you Braised Lamb Stroganoff with your Cavatelli, Hen of the Woods, Lion's Mane, Sunchoke, Seasoned Bread Crumbs and Creme Fraiche). But I also note that while the description of the Center Cut Filet announces "Jerusalem Artichoke", I wasn't aware that it was any different than a "Sunchoke" as found in the Lamb Stroganoff.... so color me a little confused. But from a taste standpoint, we found the steaks, the trigger fish, and the Pappardelle Bolognese to be excellent. (Mint in the Bolognese?) We have not tried the Woodall sandwiches (burger or fried chicken), but saw them come out and thought they looked fantastic. The desserts were very good. There is a chocolate tour that presents chocolate in different states and forms that was a nice end to the meal. Ever had caramel miso? It's on the plate, and it was really nice. As stated above, the pricing is aligned wtih the expected quality. I can't fault them at all for the bill, although, and again, not a knock on them at all, the name of the game today is expensive alcohol and dishes priced several dollars higher than a couple of years ago, I imagine, due to inflation and sourcing. Do you get what you pay for? I think so. Our server was knowledgeable. I can't decide if she was slow or whether the kitchen was slowed for some reason. Three times we were told that the food would be right out, and of course, it was not. We appreciated the updates, but not the inaccuracy. I'm willing to chalk it up as perhaps a one time experiece, and truth be told, it's a comfotable and lovely spot to dine, and so the atmosphere and the conversation among friends helped pass the time. I'd recommend this spot to you, and wish you happy dining here. I think we will be back again soon.

Consistent, Convenient, Close-by and Fun

By Jill A |

Food & service are reliably good, the Bar is fun, tasty cocktails, a solid neighborhood go-to that never fails to please. One caveat: "center cut filet" on the menu is NOT a true beef filet but a seriously lesser cut of beef, tasty but not what one expects when ordering a $38 "filet".

Good selection of menu items and pleasant interior

We went on a Sunday evening with friends. The restaurant has self parking right outside and we were seated promptly. Service and server were very good and general decor was modern and pleasing. The two starters which we shared were disappointing with the Tempura fried Eggplant being rather greasy, but I would say the curry sauce was very good. The pigs in a blanket were just that. I think because they are made of Wagyu we were expecting something different but logically I guess sausage made from Wagyu will be sausage, Nothing wrong with them but they are what they are. The steak Frites was a generous portion and tasted very good, as did the salmon. Overall this was not in any sense a bad meal but just did not provide a special experience.

Our new favorite spot!

We had such an incredible experience here. From the food to the service, it was one of the best dinners we had in a long time. We were able to sit at the bar as soon as we walked in and was greeted by a great bartender. The cocktails were delicious and we shared several items off the menu. Our favorites were the pigs in a blanket and the lobster risotto! This is now one of our favorite spots. We definitely plan on returning and becoming regulars. 100% recommend!

Sub-Par Guest Experience

Started out fine. The watermelon salad was fantastic. But it only got worse from there. I tried ordering the shrimp and scallops but I did not want asparagus. They told me “the chef said no substitutions” I tried reasoning with them - if I did not want the asparagus on my plate, WHY in the world could I not choose another side!!’ The GM was there so I had the waitress ask hm why. He simply sad he would “email the chef about substitutions”. Whatever happened to “give the customer what they want, and create an experience that they want t come back to”??Pissed me off, so I refused to order anything. Just decided to share the wagyu burger with the wife. The burger was AMAZING! But the fries were not even warm, and were soggy. Sent them back only to get a “fresh batch” right out f the grease. They were HOT - Problem was, they were totally undercooked!! Bad experience. I not eat here again. Plenty of restaurants in Atlanta that respect what the customer wants. Dave - 404-916-6511

High End Restaurant with Dishes and Prices to Match

Dishes were good with the right accents and ingredients. A place to take your friends and business and you will not be disappointed. Prices were on the high end.

Amazing food and gluten-free no problem

By Jean H |

This restaurant can be a bit confusing as I saw from some reviews. We went based on the menu and the amazingly quick and helpful feedback from the chef to a query I had about an allergy and their ability to accommodate it. Now as to our experience. I noticed reviewers who had trouble with the pacing (too slow) and unfamiliarity with the ingredients listed on the menu. First, it's a lovely new place with very comfortable booths. Second, but most important, it's one of the best menus and some of the best food we've had in Atlanta, more modestly priced than other restaurants with comparable food. Also, creative and delicious cocktails, knowledgable and responsive service. We will be back and spread the word. Here's the confusion - it feels like a place you go in for a quick meal, maybe bring the kids. It's not, but loud music makes for a vibe that's not fine dining. This is fine dining and with that you don't want to be out in an hour or less. Maybe they feel this area can't draw enough with a fine dining concept. Our view was cocktails are great, service was knowledgable and well-paced, accommodated gluten-free for celiac, superb food, inexpensive wine list. If this were in Buckhead, and there was a better wine list, they could charge at least 50% more for the mains. I did notice they have a really nice bar menu so people who want a quicker experience might try that.

New and Fabulous!

Not a bad choice for steak

By bhlraven1916 |

Plenty of parking. Great service by Christopher. Margaritas had to much ice. Had the Lump Crab Beignet and Sicilian Calamari and Rock Shrimp. Very small portions with the Shrimp. More crust than anything. Had the Steak Frites and Prime NY Strip. Really good steaks. They didn't have a military discount, but they gave us an appetizer free. I recommend this place for service and their steaks.

Great food and service

Everything was impeccable, from the host at the door, to our server, the runner and the food. Very friendly staff, attentive to our needs. The pappardelle were very good and my boyfriend had an 80s style Old Fashioned he loved. Nice design too, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I’ll definitely come back.

First time trying The Woodall

Took my husband out to dinner for Father’s Day and we were both very happy with our experience. Nice atmosphere, indoor and covered outdoor seating options, pleasant staff and very tasty food/cocktails. Can serve as a date night place but also seems very family friendly as well. We will be back with the kids next time!
