Great Brunch spot

By chuck f |

Had an excellent brunch with great live jazz duo on Sunday. Owner Bill was working the bar and food was delicious. Usually get the garlic fries with great aioli dipping sauce. Drinks were spot on today. On Sunday's they have all you can drink Mimosas for $15 until 3pm.

A hidden treasure

By BirdingFreak |

You may not notice this place from the outside and you may enter and wonder am I in the right place. Yes, you are! If great burgers and craft beers are your thing, you are There. The bison burger in particular is a perennial favorite of mine. Try some of the veggie sides instead of fries; often unusual fresh and delicious. Super conscientious bartender who will take excellent care of you and create whatever you need.

Great Brunch

By Greg L |

The service and atmosphere was great. The pancakes are the best I've ever had and the bloody Mary was also perfect. If you are in Atlanta I'd recommend going here.

VERY Excellent

By JeffBreedlove |

First the burger is very very very excellent. Second, so are the garlic fries. They have a ranch sauce with dill and it is very tasty. I also tried the brussels sprouts and they were very good as well. I will say the sweet tea has room for improvement. The atmosphere was fun and this is a great place to in Brookhaven. We did meet the owner and he was very nice.

We have to proclaim – this is not bar food!

By atlfoodcritic |

Our readers know of our skepticism when it comes to bar food and gastropubs in general. I hoped when I visited There Bar & Eatery I’d be surprised like when we reviewed Venkman’s in the Old Fourth Ward. I met with a client on Monday who was raving about the burger he had at There in Brookhaven and he insisted I try it. Yes, you might notice it is in Brookhaven Towne Center where we reviewed Olive Bistro Mediterranean Café last week. My co-worker that I normally go to lunch with and I proceeded, not understanding what we were getting ourselves into. I have to admit that even the tagline “Bar & Eatery” tended me to think “bar food” and clinch my teeth in anticipation of what was to come. Read on, and be as surprised as I was. My friend ordered the There Burger which is a grass-fed beef burger with the Rosemary and Garlic Fries from the lunch menu. I am trying to behave myself, so I ordered the Bison Burger (bunless) and Grilled Asparagus. When the food arrived, the first thing that caught me was the presentation. I could tell just from looking at how this food was plated that we had wandered far off the typical bar food path. One bite of my Bison Burger and the seasoned taste struck me, coupled with the flavors of the cheese and spicy mayo. It was marvelous. My friend shared that he liked it better than the FarmBurger we went to a few weeks ago. The Grilled Asparagus was pretty awesome and reminded me alot of the asparagus we had at Reel Seafood. We went into There with an ugly predisposition and we were surprised at how great the food was and we have to proclaim – this is not bar food. Give There Eatery & Bar in Brookhaven a shot – you won’t be disappointed! Guten appetit!

Awesome burger!

We did take out and it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely go back for another burger!

On town visiting family and great stop

By Crockett H |

The There burger was awesome. Juicy delicious flavor. Recommend the wedges but the normal fries looked good too. We came at brunch and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. Chicken and Waffles, Chicken Sandwich, others…

Very good Burgers and Beer

The service is great and food is awesome! Highly recommend the burgers. Great location and plenty of parking.

Best Bison Burger in Atlanta, maybe in the USA

By Henri Savin |

I have made this place a weekly routine for me. The reason is that they make the best burger I have ever tasted in my life. Unique as well... Bison burger (rare for me) with Roasted Poblano, cheese and avocado... Served with garlic fries with a spicy Mayo... Unique taste, a true pleasure. Added to the excellent service of Chris, the barman who always advises me on the selection of the beers to go with my burger makes the visit a true pleasure. My routine has also its perks because I barely need to ask since they remember me and my food preferences. I brought some friends who do not eat burgers and they loved the eggplants lasagnas. Actually, everything they serve is excellent, due to the extreme attention to the quality of the ingredients used and their pride in offering the best products. The place is never overcrowded which is still surprising me, the ambiance is nice and not too noisy. It may be explained by the fact that their prices are higher than the competition but it is justified by the quality of the food served. It is a gastropub after all...

A+ Burger

By Eric Toole |

Had heard great things about There Brookhaven - and it did not disappoint! Ordered a beef burger prepped like the Bison burger and loved it. Perhaps the best burger I've had out in Atlanta. Certainly up there with the best. Had a side of the house made buttermilk ranch to go with the fries and would recommend.

Great Reuben's

By Anne M |

My husband and I just decided to grab a quick bite one night and found this place called There in the shopping center where Costco is in Brookhaven. It is sort of hard to find but it is directly across from Marshalls. It is a bar pub type food but the reuben caught my eye. I will go back there. Great service and people watching.

A must try!!!

By wkenimer |

Tried this place on a whim when walking through Olde Town Brookhaven. We had the pleasure of being able to meet the owner and learn a lot about the great food they serve. Try the bison burger when you visit. And the Bloody Mary is a MUST!!!! (He uses home grown tomatoes!!)

Pretty good food but bad service

By TateEA |

The past few times we've been to There it's the same experience - tasty food but crummy service. We were seated immediately but waited 10 minutes before being recognized by our server, even though he passed our table numerous times during those 10 minutes. Guacamole was a good starter, although the chips were too heavily salted. Bison burgers were great, but there was easily 3 cloves of minced garlic on each serving of garlic fries. Our server didn't seem to care about how the meal was or what we needed other than that the food got to our table. There are too many good restaurants in brookhaven to go to one that only gets part of the equation right.

Go THERE for a side of Bad Attitude

By Laurie G |

I’ve been dining at There since they opened & while the food has always been good I just cannot get over the negative vibe here at There. I’m sadly surprised “They’re” still in business. I always end up making excuses for the poor service. But tonight was horrible & I’ll never go back.

Best Bison Burger Ever

By FoodPassionService |

First time to try There and did their Sunday brunch. The bison burger was the best I ever had with the poblano pepper and avocado adding a nice touch. The arugula salad was also good and the jazz trio providing live music was a great touch too. This is a great gastro pub that you should try whether you're living in the Atlanta area or traveling through.

Best Gluten Free friendly place in area

By Linda A |

Now our "go to" restaurant. Food is great and fresh. Servers understand my special diet and even warn of potential cross contamination with fried foods. Always friendly service.

New Find

By Road R |

I met the owner of There at the opening of another restaurant, he gave me the info on his place and eventually I decided to stop by with some friends after a show. 'There' is a nice store front place with a quality bar setup and rotating chef's and menu items. This was my second visit and I was impressed menu again, some repeat items that are always there and some new items to try. Check it out, I think it's worth the effort and I will be back again.

Nice find close to Buckhead!

By katork |

I had been wanting to try There. Their menu is simple and I like that! Really liked the Calamari .Went with a friend who had a Reuben, and I had an appetizer Crawfish Grit Cake for my entree. It was good and I would go back

There, a gastropub

By Steven J |

If you like unique pork dishes you will love There. And with a little looking vegetarian or non-pork eaters will find some delightful dishes. I truly enjoyed the bison burger, not too big around but stacked high with 2 patties and bursts of flavor. My dining companion had a wonderful grouper from the specials menu. The special included a fantastic slaw as well as some other vegetables and new potatoes. The potatoes could have used more seasonings. Looking forward to a return visit. The Brookhaven Costco is across the street if you need a landmark.

Great Food, I've been going to "There" for years!!

By Kathryn T |

There is a restaurant you won't regret going to and cannot order a bad meal on the menu. The parm fries and Brussel sprouts are amazing!!

Great gastropub

By William B |

"There" is a great gastropub in Atlanta's up and coming Brookhaven neighborhood. They have a nice selection of craft beers. The menu is not extensive but it is satisfying. The chicken fried chicken was moist and tasty. The Reuben sandwich is also a good choice. If you're here looking for a place to eat and drink with your friends, go There.

Great Local Pub

By Wesstone |

I have now eaten at There several times. The food is excellent Pub fare from salads to burgers. They have a great brew selection as well. The staff is friendly and service quick. The atmosphere is good and personal.

Awesome little place!

By Matt S |

Great place to have a drink get some food and socialize! They always have a fantastic drink selection.Make sure you get THERE!

Not there for me

By Fahrquar |

I had seen this restaurant/pub when visiting Costco, and had seen good reviews, so my wife and I decided to give it a try. Normally, I would want two trips before writing a review, but I think one is all this time. We ate a bit early, around 6:30. The restaurant was nearly empty except for the bar, and we had a nice booth. We both wanted a beer, but to our surprise, most of what we asked about was in cans, not on tap. My wife's first two choices from the menu (not specials) were out, so she had a glass of chardonnay. We had two small plates, the crawfish etouffee, which was good if a bit sweet, and a bit short on crawfish, and the tomato soup, which was soup of the day. The soup was good, nicely flavored with some chunky bits in it. For our mains, my wife decided to try the "There Burger" and Fries. Our waiter said they are the best fries in town. She ordered the burger medium, and it was clearly well done. The fries are nothing to shout about, IMHO - not crisp outside and fluffy inside, just regular ho-hum fries. I ordered the duck, medium rare. It arrived well done, not a trace of even pink, and I normally would have asked for a re-do, but time was pressing by then. In all fairness, it was not dried out. The quantity of duck was good. The sauce was good, but again you should be prepared for sweetish. (I don't really mind sweet with duck, but I expect some fruit in the sauce if it is sweet). 1 beer, 1 wine, two starters and two meals, $66 + tip. Overall, I have to say it wasn't bad, but for me there are better choices. I expect more form a self proclaimed gastropub. I am willing to believe I must have had a bad day in the kitchen, seeing all of the strong reviews, but I won't try again

Highly recommended!

By DupuisAtlanta |

Find ourselves coming back to this eatery over and over and over. Have no complaints about the service but the real draw is their good food. While our staples include the short ribs with spinach flan, fries with garlic-fries rosemary, patatas bravas, other times we do try their specials. The grilled wahoo with coconut rice was fun food for me. It conjured up memories of happy beach holidays. The skirt steak with red wine risotto and chevre was perfection. Their tamarind pie was so good. Balance of sweet and tart, fun bit of crunch at the crust. Such a great finish to our meal. They have live music certain evenings, guitar music one time we were there. We love the chef's use of seasonal ingredients and are pleased with the small menu. The portions are just right and the prices are reasonable. Seriously whats not to like?

Best Bloody Mary on the planet

By Rcbeck |

Just go Sat or Sun brunch & order the Bloody - you won't regret it. Also best Bison burger in town! House cured ham & eggs also great.

outstanding "new south " cuisine!

By Laura_L224 |

If There was in my neighborhood, we would be regulars. Everything was great - friendly service, cool atmosphere without being too hipster, fantastic jazz for brunch (my daughters LOVED that) and truly delicious food using fresh ingredients very well prepared. There was not a kids menu - but that was OK because the waitress asked them what they felt like eating - and the kitchen fixed it! House made chips and fresh fries were excellent. Our table had a dish featuring housemade sausage, a crabcake, a kid grilled cheese, a kid bacon cheeseburger and the crawfish over a grit cake. Everything was excellent and portions were perfect - not overly large and not skimpy. Quality ingredients were obvious in everything. Can't wait to pop in again the next time I am in Atlanta.

Secret gem with an identity crisis

By RC30319 |

Sadly for some, and wonderful for others, this place actually doesn't look like what it really is. First unless you know where it is, you might not find it. Its tucked away in Town Brookhaven on a side street beside a parking garage and close to the Costco. On first glance from the outside it looks like it should be a whanabe British pub that would serve greasy fish and chips and beer. This is the sad part. Because of how it looks on the outside a lot of folks are driving by and not stopping, figuring they'll go to more "hot" spots on the main drag around the corner. Their loss. For those who do wander in, they will discover on the inside what should be a high end gastro pub like experience for about 20 to 30% less than comparible places. The food here is really, really good and its rarely crowded so reservations (at least not yet) are not required. While its a shame from a business perspective that its not crammed wall to wall, for those in the know, its a wonderful find and what you'd call a hidden gem. We've eaten here about 4 or 5 times now and not had a poor meal. Service is not the best in town but they are friendly and try hard. Everything is fresh made with fresh ingredients, even the meats are fresh ground. Some of the things I've had are the mussels, which are quite good (but in honesty about average to other places), the Bison Burger is probably about the best burger in Atlanta hands down. At $13 its not a cheap burger, but its head and shoulders above others and worth trying. The braised short rib with greens and the Pork belly with Kimchee are outstanding. They have good fish also. My wife had the amberjack the last time in and said it was one of the best fish dishes she'd had in a long time. It's not normally on the menu, but if you ask, the brussel sprouts make a very tasty side dish. The homemade blueberry pie is a killer desert. Get this. The wine list is basic and doesn't have any real top end wines, but how many locations consistently have wines at 14 to 22 a bottle these days? Not many. While they may not be "gourmet" wines its just flat refreshing to go somewhere that isn't trying to rip you off with the wine list. Does all this sound like a British Pub? Despite its outward appearance its no where near being in that category. For those that have found it, we'd love to keep it a secret, but we don't want it to fail either, so do go and enjoy.

Delicious burger

By mrsworldwide |

I have visited There three times and each time I can't resist ordering the same thing, which is there delicious burger, with a white cheese and sauce, you skip ketchup or other condiments as the burger cooked to your liking stands alone well. I also love the garlic French fried. I sit at the bar as I dine solo in a welcoming atmosphere, where you will also most likely meet the owner.

Great breakfast food!

By Andrea K |

I love the Virgin Mary's. The ham and eggs, over easy, are delicious. The grits are very rich and hearty. It's more like a wonderful corn pudding than a serving of grits. I visited for Sunday brunch and enjoyed live jazz with my meal. Our server, Julie, was extremely busy, but attentive and friendly. I will definitely return to There and would also recommend the restaurant.

great food

By mziel16 |

this is a great place to hang out and have a drink. we've had many of the food on the menu and the food are always tasty and delish. the staff are friendly and make you feel right at home.

Wonderful late-night sandwich with too many soggy fries

By Will F |

We went there for a late dinner and we were able to get seating at the bar where we enjoyed some beers with dinner. My friends advised me to get recommendations for food from the bartender and I honestly forgot what he recommended, but it was brought out and it was delicious as it is a seafood sandwich...see attached photo. Nevertheless, this place was really good and my only criticism was that there too many soggy fries with the plate.

just ok

By R. K. V. |

OK sandwich but the fries were soggy. Place a bit dark but probably more lively in the evening- Service friendly. Decent value

Solid Brunch

By LOTD1776 |

My buddies and I enjoyed a solid brunch after a serious night of drinking. I would suggest the ham breakfast sandwich as it indeed lived up to the description of having fresher ingredients. The Bloody Mary boasts that it is the best Bloody Mary in Atlanta. I won't say that it's not the best as it is the only one I tried that trip, but I would say that it is just standard. I'd go here again the next time I am in town.

Well Done

By Ticoboy |

As a party to the Georgia Festival Chorus' recent presentation in the Brookhaven area of Atlanta, I along with several members of the chorus had the opportunity to dine at There. One of the chorus members who had previously dined at There recommended it for a post concert meal. Her recommendation proved more than worthwhile. Our party of nine, with no reservations, was accommodated with little fuss. One third of our party enjoyed the Moscow Mules while another third went for the locally brewed Drafty Kilt Scotch ale by Monday Night Brewing. Here is the amazing part!; the nine in our party each order and enjoyed one of nine different entrees. To a person we were all pleased with each of our selections . Good food, Good service, Highly recommended.

Awesome Oysters

By Charlie30084 |

Thanks Bill we had a great brunch and your oysters were simple fantastic. My corn beef hash was perfect, best ever I have had anywhere in Atlanta. The crab cake Benedict was delicious and most important hot!! Honestly I tried There last year and it was so so, but last Sunday, home Run! We will be back, keep up the good work. This truly is a Brookhaven place to try.

Such great flavors!

By Beverly W |

My sister and I stopped in for a late lunch and enjoyed every bite from the smoked trout dip with pickles to the octopus with pesto & arugula. The draft beer selection was spot on and complemented the dishes to a 'T'.

Lunch with daughter

By Dawn K |

Server was very nice but we waited forever for our order. I had the Cuban sandwich and my daughter had the tomato salad. Both were disappointing. I know they made an effort and have heard from others the food as good. Maybe we hit an off day.

This is just a wonderful place!

By Roadyeti |

We have been frequenting There for awhile now. The food is unique and amazing, the drink selection is great, and it is staffed with good people. This is a must for anyone near Brookhaven! You just simply must go!

Underwhelmed

By house_1819 |

I had read other reviews that prompted my visit but There didn't stand up. The bison burger was disappointing. Perhaps I expected too much but a regular burger at Vortex beats the bison for taste and value. Reviews indicated that this was a hot after work hours venue. I went around 5:30 midweek and there was one couple and a group of three guys. One visit suffices for me.

Burger is tasty, but why so small?

By JA M |

This came highly recommended as one of the best burgers in Atlanta. It was very good. All ingredients were first rate. Moreover, the fries were excellent. There was only one problem. The burger was really quite small. My burger had no more than 5 oz. of beef, perhaps only 4 oz. The bun was fresh, but, again, rather small. I cannot imagine what savvy chef designed this miniature morsel. No man would be satisfied with this.

Not Impressed

By 1TrippyTraveler |

I really wanted to like this restaurant but I simply was not impressed. From slow service, to a poorly seasoned bison burger, to too much garlic on the fries, there really wasn't anything positive to tell you about. I visited this restaurant because everyone was raving about the bison burger. Sure the toppings are nice but I could clearly taste that the patties themselves were not seasoned well. A good burger doesn't need any toppings. If you want to taste a well seasoned burger, go to Stillhouse. The fries I got at There Brookhaven were drenched in garlic. It made me want to puke. How do you mess up something as simple as fries? The cocktail menu was not very appealing. The only reason this is not a 2 star review is the live band that was playing. The band seemed pretty cool but There isn't. File this under "bad burger".

Had a good dinner "There"

By Road R |

Met the owner of 'There' so I decided to go check the place out. It's a very nice store front gastropub with an excellent upscale menu and really cold beer. I tried the salmon wrapped shrimp, an interesting idea and very tasty. I will be back to try their buffalo burger the next time.

Been There, done that.

By peacetraveler35 |

I too wanted to love this locally owned restaurant/bar. From the moment we walked in, when the place was nearly empty, up until the check was presented, it was decided unfriendly. It was a challenge to get a menu, a waiter, silverware, salt&pepper, condiments (we got our own from wait station) or eye contact. The watermelon 'slaw' was delicious, spicy and sweet, and served with slightly tasty but over cooked lamb rib. Beet salad was pretty good with interesting yellow & red beets. The crab cake sandwich was yummy but the bison burger was only so-so. I would be tempted to return to try more dishes, but the lack-luster service really put us off. I concluded that we weren't considered cool enough to be treated as welcome guests. I'll take my money and generous tips elsewhere.

Great food

By A B |

Just tried there for the first time and it was great. We will be going back. the crawfish etoufee on the grit cake was wonderful. I had the bison burger and my wife had lobster eggs Benedict.

Nice Spot

By Marinetty B |

The service and food was excellent. The cornbeef sandwich is a must have and that was from the first bite.

Appearances may fool you

By RobboJackson_tn |

Like many previous reviews, There has a bland atmosphere to include location and interior. Their menu is somewhat suspect as a list of haute culture cuisine. However, you'll get over the culture shock on your first bite.Best Bison burger ever! The pork belly exquisite. And everything should include a Monday Night draft beer. 5 Stars.

Cool Name. Questionable Food.

By Belinda M |

Love the name of the restaurant and the location, but not so much the food unfortunately... It's located in the Town Brookhaven complex on Peachtree, next to Oglethorpe University. There's plenty of parking around and in the parking deck. We happen to stumble on this place by accident and decided to stay and eat. It had a nice pub vibe to it and felt pretty chilled. They had a pretty big bar area with plenty of bar seating. No line or rush so we got seated right away at a booth. The menu is fairly small and not overwhelming to look at. I ordered our server's recommendation of the Bison Patty Burger that comes with roasted pablano, cheddar, avocado, red onions, and spicy mayo with a choice of a side. I decided get the brussel sprouts with my meal. I was really excited about the burger because our server said it was really good and a crowd favorite. But I guess I had to wait 30 minutes only be slightly disappointed... I took a bite out of the burger only to find out that it was cooked medium rare - emphasis on rare. Definitely not the medium I ordered so it threw me off, and it wasn't that good... I didn't think there was anything special to the burger. I wasn't going to get it recooked but the server insisted that I should get it cooked how I wanted to. So we sent the burger back. It came back out a few minutes later and..... it was still very much medium rare... Huge bummer. I was very disappointed. I was also very surprised that it took 30 minutes for the food to come out. The place wasn't busy at all so it makes me wonder why it took so long and how the kitchen would do if there was a bigger crowd. On the upside, the brussel sprouts were good. Overall, not a huge fan. Service was good. Nothing over the top but she was nice. I also think their menu is priced a little too high. There's also a price discrepancy: as of now, the bison burger is priced $12 on their online menu and $14 on their dine-in restaurant menu. There's actually a couple more. I guess they did a price increase and haven't updated their website yet. I'd give this place a 2.5. Not too sure if I'd come visit it again, but they did have a pretty cool looking bar. So maybe I'll just come for a drink next time.

Delicious Bison Burger and Brussel Sprouts

By Chris F |

Had an amazing dinner when I ordered the double patty bison burger and Brussel Sprouts. So delicious and juicy. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Truly a gastro pub that knows how to cook well. Also had a great Atlanta brewery apple cider. Must come back here.

Wanted a Moscow mule

By MsHoni |

After a fun evening hanging out with friends, the hunger monster sat in I wanted something quick but tasty. My friend that lives in the area advised they had great burgers she did not lie...... Try the There burger its awesome and the rosemary fries(this should be sold together) the Moscow mule did not disappoint I give it a strong 3.5 on a scale to 5 for the drink :-) If your in this area give it a try - i would come back.

Quiet in the daytime

By Emma H |

Despite the amount of traffic in the area, this place was so quiet on a Saturday during the day. The bar staff is good and make great recommendations.

don't let the outside appearances deceive you! food is amazing!

By smdcogirl |

There looks like it is a bar/tavern, but it is really a fantastic restaurant with a gourmet menu at reasonable prices. It is a wonderful neighborhood gem! We saw There featured on "Atlanta Eats" and since it is right down the street in Town Brookhaven (across from Costco), we figured we'd give it a try. We tried: Bloody Mary - made with fresh squeezed tomato juice and fresh squeezed garlic juice! it was served with homemade pickles and a slice of bacon. Fantastic drink. For appetizer: fried avocadoes and peppers. Who knew you could fry avocado bites? it was served with a tasty dipping sauce. Unique and very good. Then we tried their version of shrimp and grits which is a cheddar grits cake with crawfish and poblano peppers in a cream sauce. Delicious. Finally, we were stuffed so we ordered and shared the bison burger. I can't say I'd usually be too interested in ordering bison, but I knew this burger was one of their specialties. I'm so glad we tried it. It was juicy and flavorful. The burger comes with fries but we asked for the garlic rosemary fries. So good! they grate fresh garlic over the fries! This is a fantastic find at extremely reasonable prices. We are told they do a pig roast on Saturdays so we will be back to try it!

Lunch

By Charles B |

Bill is amazing as he bartends, cooks and is the owner. We had sandwiches which were yummy along with nice hot French fries. Parking is a breeze usually, can get sort of busy on weekends with Costco etc sharing the complex. I would recommend There Brookhaven for lunch, snack or just handing out with the friendly patrons.
