Great setting, OK dinner at Tidal

By Silverwoods |

To be honest, i was a bit disappointed with the dinner at Tidal. The service was good but not great. But it was the price of the food relative to the quality that lowered my rating. First of all, for the prices that we paid, you would expect some free bread to be served before dinner. It cost $$ if you wanted it. Secondly, my salad was good but not great. Same with my salmon main. It was very salty. For dessert we had the coconut, chocolate cake. It tasted a bit dry. However, the setting itself is beautiful. Overall it was a good dining experience but not great. Too much $$ relative to the food and service.

Birthday Dinner

By Dan A |

After reading good comments about this new restaurant and it's innovative chef, Amy, I decided to go there for my 77th birthday. Upon being seated, a warm greeting from a wonderful lady named Amy appeared as if by magic. She made some food suggestions and took our order. Our server, Eilene, was very attentive and helpful. Our entres, pork cheeks and fish in paper were outstanding. The food is the main event but the service and ambiance were also stellar. I highly recommend this restaurant. Must go! Airy, breezy - - so San Diego!!

Incredible food and setting. You overlook beautiful Mission Bay and dine on spectacular food. There is no need to leave property when you have access to such an amazing dining experience!!

Rough start but Excellent Ending!

By tinamija |

Must say I was a bit annoyed and disappointed with the service at the beginning. Came for the first time to celebrate our Anniversary hoping the evening would run smoothly and it just started rough! We arrived 30 min early for our reservation, which I had expected to wait, so I headed to the bar to order drinks and an appetizer while we waited. It took nearly 10 min for someone to even acknowledge me (bar was busy...but not that busy!). I think it was just short staffed! After ordering a cheese plate and bread, I came back 20 min later and it still was not ready!! I was hoping to get a little something to eat as we were hungry! They told me it was going to be another 10 min...that they were backed up! 10 min?! For a cheese plate?! Really?! At this point our table was ready and we still hadn't received our cheese plate! I was livid and let the hostess know about it. The MOD was extremely attentive to the matter and brought out he cheese platter immediately. Alongside with a complimentary flight of wine. Now we're talking..great customer service! The waiter was extremely attentive and pleasurable as well. Logan Wynn was able to provide us with exceptional recommendations and service. We were very pleased with our meal and will definitely be returning!

Great views and food!

By Ashley M |

We made reservations both times we visited and sat outside to enjoy the food. Everything was great! Our server forgot to mention any specials and our neighboring tables were served rolls so we asked for them also and were told they are not free and you must request them which is why they are not offered. A little weird but both times our dinners were great and we liked our the staff.

San Diego first timer!

By easkins3 |

Anniversary dinner was great! The atmosphere, view, and food were all fantastic. But our server, Melissa, was EXCELLENT!!! The entire experience was very worthwhile.

Father's Day

By David H |

We were a bit late to our reservations time but the staff was really nice and took the time to seat us at a beautiful table for 8. Daniel was our waiter and he was fantastic! He accommodated all of us with a smile and exceptional service, the food was delicious and we all enjoyed Father's Day at Tidal. Thanks Daniel we will be back soon to try out the rest of the menu 😊

Nice location, needs more choices on the menu

By DocAndyHouston |

The atmosphere was good, there is outdoor seating, and the food is well prepared. Not many choices on the menu for a city like San Diego.

Beautiful Food: exquisitely Castro experience

By Happy_Tica |

Sólo night Every dish was artistically presented to the table. I decided to order two appetizers as my dinner. The were a delight. With every bite, I was transport to Costa Rica... the coconut, the sea food, the fried taro root, the guava ... I ordered the Big Eye poke (speciality of Tidal as the chef adds coconut to this dish), grilled spanish octopus and chocolate coconut guava cake and cappuccino for dessert. The vie is beautiful, my server was Landon, he was courteous and took care of my dinner giving my dinner a touch of elegance and prestige. This restaurant is a Jewel to Paradise Point.

Beautiful View With Amazing Food

Can't get much better than enjoying a great meal and catching a sunset in the process. Food/Service is world-class.

Excellent Food

By Bob M |

Good food, nice atmosphere, excellent view, attentive staff, nice menu, and not overly pricey. I wouldn't stay at the resort just to eat at this restaurant.

Great Sunday Brunch

By TimZins |

Although their menu for brunch is limited, it is very delicious. With a table overlooking Mission Bay, you can't beat the great food and a bloody mary!

Our server Brent is awesome!

By Caroline P |

Had a great time at Tidal thanks to a knowledgeable and personable server named Brent. Kind of a confusing menu but he led us to get a great dinner!

Amazing Local Gem Off the Beaten Path

By Colin Archibald |

It is rare to find a Chef with the Artistic ability of their Chef Andrew Reyes. He has taken a fusion of traditional Micronesian Dishes with local Mexican twists. I have never seen Chicken Kalaguen on a menu outside Guam so was excited to see it on their menu. This is a must try. Everything here was incredible, from the food to the awesome service from our waiter Logan. The atmosphere is wonderful with views of Mission Bay, where you can see folks at play and all the boats going by. I have to say that this is the best meal I have had in years and we frequent a lot of nice restaurants. The restaurant is tucked in the back of the Paradise Point Resort so it has a modern Polynesian Feel. The whole staff was wonderful and we will definitely be back. By the way save room for dessert, as you have never had some of the incredible creations they have with really unique flavors.

fresh, delicious food with great view and service

By Michelle C |

I have eaten at Tidal 3 times now, but the most recent was for out of town business guest I was trying to impress- Tidal did not fail me! It has been consistently really good food served in new yet approachable innovative ways. The service and wine selection is great, and since I have sat outside every time, I have always had great water views. I enjoy fresh seafood, but there is always Land and vegetarian options on the menu, so no worries about picky eaters. The business guest I was trying to impress? They went back for dinner the very next night they were so impressed.

Awesome Service

By Susan B |

Food was excellent but what really made Our night was the excellent service from Julia our server & Kennedy the attentive manager. They really cared that we enjoyed our meal and had a great experience

Excellent food

By Michael J |

Stopped into this restaurant twice while staying at the Paradise Point Resort. Both times the food and service was excellent - the stuffed trout was very good.

Great location and food

By John D |

My wife and I came here for date night and were pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was. Casual dining, either indoors or out on the patio and we were there in time to enjoy the fantastic sunset view. I ordered the coconut shrimp soup and it was really excellent! For mains I had the scallops and my wife had the halibut. Both were excellent! My wife also ordered the Cleopatra cocktail and said it was one of the best cocktails she has had in awhile. As others have mentioned, it is pretty expensive but I felt the food was pretty high quality. The location is great as well, so this is a good choice for a special occasion.

Business dinner

By DrMac01 |

Excellent venue, sat at a table on the deck, nearby families, with a heater taking the chill off, what an excellent spot for a lovely fish dinner from the specials menu. Excellent food, service seemed a little rushed, brought us the bill 5 times which was a little annoying. Sunset view, a newly married couple got their photos taken right in front of us, then we watched a Space X rocket launch. Fab.

Amazing dinner!!

By Sandra M |

Went with my brother in law & sister in law. It was a nice restaurant & the food was wonderful!! I had the scallops for dinner & ordered a side of brussels sprouts. Both were wonderful. The brussels sprouts were the best I have every had. We also had some rolls that were very tasty. My husband had the Tuna & really enjoyed it. I would definitely go again sometime. Very nice service too!

Great spot - fancy drinks!

By SnoMik |

The menu changes often and it was pre set, fixed price food - we chose the island fusion night and we have loompia, poke, garlic rice, rice and choice of main dish (poultry, seafood and vegetarian) plus the dessert! The cocktails are fun and tasty - check out their instagram for all the options. The ambiance on Mission Bay in the evening was great and there was plenty of free parking. Not bad for kids, but definitely more fun for adults. The staff was very nice. We will def go again!

Fantastic food and location

By kcbrian2017 |

I had dinner here twice when I was at the resort last month. Really top notch dinner. And the location is perfect: right on the bay with amazing views. I had the Tomahawk steak and it was ridiculous: so good and huge!

Horrible service

By Anne123456789 |

The food is good, nothing exceptional, but well presented and tasty. However, improvements are needed: buying a cellar in order to serve wine at the right temperature. Having baguette of quality... you can't offer cheese of quality and serve it with non crispy and insignifiant baguette. But the field requiring more improvement is the service. The waiter mixed up the bills, did not listen to what I ask and after being paid accuse that I did not pay... hopefully I had prove. Manager should have been more proactive... sadly this experience left a bitter taste...

Excellent Food and Service

By Barnessarah45 |

This restaurant is one of a kind. The view is right on the bay. The menu is well developed and has options for all people. Our server Logan was very polite and gave us an unforgettable experience. I had the steak special which was the 8 ounce Filet and my hubby had the trout. Logan asked if we would like to pair wines that he would recommend with the entrees. Not being active wine drinkers we were on the fence. So glad we went for it! Cheers to the chef and wait staff at Tidal.

Go To A Real Steakhouse

By 1_Metallica_1 |

Unfortunately, the food here isn't even close to as good as a good chain steak house. $300 for 4 of us and no chance I can recommend this place.

So dinner, ummm hummm, Tidal, oh yea, a must have hidden gem!!!

By mrevent |

I started with a craft cocktail called ā€œThee Barnacleā€ which had Milargro cayenne infused tequila with pressed grapefruit, lemon and agave nectar, the glass rimmed with smoked sea salt. It had been recommended to me on my last visit in October by my server Lucas. We had a nice visit from the hostess and then Jan came over and introduced himself as our server. I was surprised when out of corner of my eye I spotted Lucas and he came over and greeted us. We started with a shared appetizer the venus clams in a salsify puree with purple potato chunks and bacon bits. Wow, Ryan was skeptical at first but once he tried them he was set. We wanted to drink the broth, no amount of bread was enough to sop it up. These beautiful tender clams were in a whiteish shell edged in purple which make such a beautiful presentation with the purple potatoes. I seem to gravitate to this each time, it's such a beautiful presentation and incredibly tasty. My son had the lamb ragu with allspice, preserved lemon-ricotta and served with house fettucine and raved about it. I decided on the fish in paper, a nice serving of Hawiian on sliced potatos caramelized onions, stopped with green and yellow squash and flowering herb butter. To accompany my fish I had the Matanzas Creek Winery 2014 Sauvignon Blanc. The fish was perfection. We thought we were going to resist dessert but Jan tempted us with the menu and as if they had to twist our arms my son had the baked butterscotch pudding with a dollop of sweetened mascarpone cream and the Rip Tide, a five-bean gourmet Italian blend (Classica) coffee and I had the, made to order with 15 minutes advance notice, pistachio cake-like donuts with a green tea glaze sitting in a white chocolate-ricotta mousse. Absolutely to die for.

A must when in or near San Diego!

By Matt N |

Chef Andrew & Raechel are a dream team! I did the four course tasting menu and everything was out of this world. This is a must if you are in the area. Raechel's service was fun and impeccable. She made me feel welcome, we shared some laughs and the entire experience was fantastic. Chef Andrew has a clear passion for his food and hand delivered each course to the table with an explanation of what it was. My taste buds were thrilled. I did the wine pairing with each course and had a great compliment to each course of white and red. This is my second visit to this restaurant and will be on my list for every visit to San Diego. Keep up the great work Tidal!

Great food, great service

The food and cocktails here were excellent. The service from Heather was fantastic and even though it was overcast we are outside with the fire heaters and we had a great experience

Lovely Easter Brunch on The Bay!

By Riccio1 |

A nice group of 6 enjoyed our Easter Brunch at Tidal - located on the point inside of the Paradise Point resort. Convenient, free parking. Table was ready and we were seated immediately. Nice menu - but somewhat limited in choices. Wonderful server who was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed the 2 carafes of mimosa that we ordered - at a really reasonable $20 - easily served 6 each time. All breakfasts were cooked as ordered - but strangely had to ask for salt and pepper, and jam for the toast. Beautiful location - enjoyed our brunch!

Charcuterie!

By oby |

We didn’t fancy a formal meal, although the dining area looked nice. We opted for the charcuterie in the bar area. With a comfy couch, lovely G&T the charcuterie was outstanding, the best on our trip, the addition of the fruit emits was yum! I could eat one now.

Great place

By Ahmed Ashab Ferdous |

Fantastic restaurant. loved the food and the ambience is great. though the cost of food is a bit more but i am sure you won't complain after having it.

Very accommodating of special requests

By Savvytraveller42 |

We had a group of 6 with lots of special requests and the waitstaff and chef were very helpful. The burger was the best I've ever had. I came back from brunch and the side of fruit was amazing. Everything was delicious.

Location Location Location But......

By SeanPaulK |

A couple people recommended this restaurant and I read it received recognition for great food, so I was expecting a wonderful view and great food. First, the views are great no question there. The food was good but not great. What made the overall experience a 2 out of 5 was the service or the lack of service. You can't control the weather and sometimes a guest palate may be indifferent BUT you have 100% control over the service. I don't want to get into the details, just rubber stamp this one LACKING SERVICE. I will say it appeared other tables were being taking care of at a higher level of service, as well as helping our table! Also, the other two food options at Paradise Point were top notch.

Tail of two cities

By ncbldr |

It was our last night at paridise point and we were going to pick a top rated restaurant to go to, and much to our surprise it was right here. We went right after happy hour so too many people would not be an issue. There were only two tables seated. Normally we don't go for appetizers but tonight we did and the sourdough bread and hummus and special butter was great. So we thought because this was so good dinner would be a no brainer. I ordered the bacon duck and my wife ordered the salmon wellington. I have included pictures because they both look wonderful. This is where it became a tail of two cities. My duck was out of this world. No grease to be found (what duck is known for) and the bacon set it off perfectly. The salmon (which is so easy to season and quick to prepare was awful. No flavor at all. Not in the salmon not in the pastry. I could not believe her because mine was so good, she had me try it with and without the pastry. She was right. She did not eat much of it because of no flavor and when our waiter Lucas (he was excellent BTW) came up i quickly asked for the check. When I handed him my card he asked if we wanted a togo box and it was then I mentioned to him in a non complaining way not to suggest the salmon because it wad awful. He apologized. Upon his return he let us know he removed it from the bill. The atmosphere is very nice, view for dinner is great and above average. As for the food. Good luck.

100th Birthday celebration

By Derrick H |

We're having our grandmothers 100th birthday party, there this week. I was at the restaurant making plans with Alex Doheny, the event coordinator. We have somewhere between 21 to 28 guests, coming for the event. Half of them, are staying at the resort. I love this restaurant! I had my birthday party there last year. The staff are attentive and the food is great. It sits right on the water and can be very romantic. I love their seafood; but, their steaks and chicken are also outstanding. As a longtime resident of San Diego, I recommend this restaurant.

Nice area, nice service not amazed with the food.

By El Panzon |

The restaurant is located in a very nice area. The outside terrace has a beautiful view. We arrived and were immediately seated. Water was brought straight away and so were the menus, with the proper explanations. Our waiter was very fast and nice. The food was good, not amazing. The board with appetizers was well presented and tasty. The salad was nice. I had the pork for main course, which was good, not amazing. We had a tiramisu for dessert which was good. The wine list had a good selection of wine by the glass with reasonable prices. Now the bad side…the menu is very limited. There was something weird with the doors to the outside area. I went out and got locked out, someone had to come and open from the inside. After I got back in the door kept slamming, making a very annoying noise every time someone got in or out.

Expensive & cheap at the same time! Save your money and skip this restaurant.

By Maureen C |

The quality of the food is cheap; the prices are expensive. I reviewed this on Yelp over the summer, and thought I would review/warn people here as well. My guest and I still talk about that meal, although in hushed tones as it was so bad as to be unbelievable. Also, the five star reviews are questionable at best. The quality of the food was cheap and the fusion is a joke. If you're visiting this place, just know that there are so many great places so very close!!! Skip it. The only thing I would ever have here is a beer or a drink, not the food. It used to be fantastic, but new ownership of the resort has clearly placed some obviously harsh budgetary constraints and you the guest will be paying for it. The food we were served was inedible. Do yourself a favor and have a pre-dinner drink. Too many excellent spots in Pacific Beach and Birdrock to eat.

OUTSTANDING !

By rcalta2017 |

The menu is creative and of course sea food orientated ! The Chef is very creative , what a gem ! ! !

Family vacation dinner.

By RBE-MA |

Since we were staying at Paradise Point Resort we chose to have our family dinner at Tidal. Our party of twelve were seated outside which had a great view of the bay. We were close to the entertainment who was a talented and friendly guitar player and singer. Our server, Melissa, was quite friendly and very accommodating. The fixed fare menu was limited but the selections were fine and not overly expensive. The cocktails on the other hand were very expensive and typically small. Wine by the glass was also expensive. I realize that restaurants need to make a profit and alcohol is where they make the greatest return. But $19.00 for a small size martini is a bit much! Overall, the food was delicious and the service was great. We also had a visit by the restaurant manager who took the time to introduce himself as thank us for dining at Tidal.

Dinner

By mrdjh11 |

Our server Andrew was very knowledgeable. We had quite a few questions about the Filipino fusion menu but had the reassurance from our server as to the quality and flavor of the menu items (which were spot on). Great view, great food, great service.

A Gem on Mission Bay

By Norbert R |

We stayed at Paradise Point and decided to dine at Tidal. A choice to go into the great restaurant books. Entering the restaurant gives you the impression to be somewhere on the beach on an island far away. An upbeat, professional staff greeted us. Our server, Trevor, was a delight. He was knowledgeable about the menu items, it's composition, and how everything was prepared. His recommendations crafted a meal for our party. All dished were of superb quality, the flavors balanced and a delight to the eye. The wine selection is balanced with the menu offerings and allow a choice for everyone.

Fantastic brunch! Interesting menu. Wonderful staff

By Nina |

I entertained 21 guests at Tidal for brunch. I worked with Zach to plan the event, and he was extremely helpful. He responded to my emails very promptly. The age range of our party was 16 years old (teens) to 80 (senior citizens). Melissa, our server, was awesome. She was patient with our menu substitutions and made excellent suggestions. She handled each order to precision. The restaurant is located on the Paradise Point property, and the setting is lovely.

Fabulous foodie adventure. Great Experience!

By Melissa Greeneyes Teague |

The atmosphere is casual, with a beautiful view of the channel. The food is tasty, carefully prepared and delicious.

Fantastic dining experience!

By Andrew P |

We were nearby and searching on google maps for places to eat while on vacation for my wife’s 30th birthday. Stacie saw ā€œseafoodā€ and we went. We got here just in time for sunset. They seated us outside and it was a bit chilly but they gave us two heaters so it was perfect. Douglass gave us the gift of a perfect presentation and made wonderful recommendations. The food was to die for. We had the coconut soup and the cheese plate to start. The tuna and gnocchi was great (especially the pesto). Then we ended with the cheesecake and we basically went to heaven.

Great dining experience at TIDAL!

By margro22 |

The staff was on point (no pun intended)! They were so knowledgeable about the different dishes and the chefs choices. The food was delicious and the presentation was impressive. It was a wonderful experience for my family. We will be going back!

Service was fantastic!!

By Jen R |

Our server Kennedy was wonderful! He had a great sense of humor while being very professional!! The rolls are the bomb!

Average this time; great other times

By Nhung N |

I have visited Tidal four times in the last year and typically service is very good and the food even better however both were not true last visit. Lets start with service: our server melissa was hardly seen throughout the meal. While she was friendly, we had to wait to place our entree order and she never checked back after our food arrived until we had finished eating. Another server told two tables they should order quickly as they had a 35 top as well, a big no no for in the service industy (never make the guest feel rushed....right?). A special mention should go to the backwaiter, Ryan, who ever visit is very attentive and polite. Food.... the soup was good as normal but the beef cheek was average as were the scallops. I even found a rather large burnt piece of beef cheek on my plate Overall for the money this visit was not worth it

Very romantic setting

By Z214PGdonna |

We stayed at Paradise Resort and ate dinner here for my partner's birthday. We sat outdoors and had a wonderful view of the water. The food was very good (well maybe the steak could have been a tad less done) and the atmosphere made the whole experience memorable.

Brunch had interesting sounding dishes, didn't live up to it.

By xsteves |

The plusses are the view on the bay and the excellent service. i guess you have to pick the right food. We both had the rock crab fried rice. Not so much crab and the fried rice was no different than you'd get at Pick Up Stix. The malasadas ($10 for 3) were sugary doughnut holes that didn't taste like much except when you put the guava jam or lemon curd (both very good) on it. One person in our party had Vanilla Waffles with fruit and enjoyed it. .

Wonderful experience. A very enjoyable dinner.

By Blake Cheek |

This was without a doubt the best candle-light dinner. Seafoods were much delicious, Crabs were cooked so perfectly. Beautiful dining room with very friendly and great service staff, and a well executed tasting menu. Environment around us was so clam and quite.

Wonderful service and great food.

By jbackus8746 |

We stayed on the property and on our last night the two other couples and us went here to eat supper. Everyone was very happy with the food and service. We would all like to return if the future ever brought us back to the area. My wife and I had the smallest steaks on the menu which was more the enough to satisfy our dinner.

Delicious Food, Nice Atmosphere

By Joanie2030 |

Food was outstanding! Service stellar. The eggs benedict are delicious. Save room for the homemade donuts for dessert.

Great water and beach view but very slow service

By SusanneVIE |

Today we went for a family brunch to Tidal, we had called ahead because of our bigger party of 7. We had a nice table outside overlooking the bay, the staff was really nice but the wait for our food to arrive was excruciating 50 minutes, we noticed that we weren't the only table without any food, somehow quite some tables were in the same situation and starting to complain, we were told that they had several larger groups that day and the food would soon come out, but after another 15 min still nothing and after asking again they brought at least 4 stuffed croissants. The food arrived cooled off and overhearing a conversation from another table, I heard the same remark. But we were too hungry to risk another wait. The mimosas were cold but almost without any sparkle, the Bloody Mary was delicious, though. I still give 3 stars because of the beautiful surrounding but they have to work on the kitchen logistic.

Delicious

By Kristi K |

Really enjoyed dinner here. Would give it 5 stars except that it is kinda loud. Service excellent too.

Chicken Dinner ... OK

By Gloria L |

This restaurant is very pricey; lovely but most entrees are expensive. Opted for chicken with broccoli. Served me 1/2 rotisserie chicken that looked great but wasn't done. I asked the staff to finish cooking it. My dining companions ate their dinner; they were done before my entree returned. Not a particularly enjoyable way to eat ones meal. And the broccoli wasn't cooked either. Only able to eat/chew half of it. Disappointing.

Good dinner

This was our first night on vacation so picked this as nearby. It was a good start as dinner was good and tasty so we left very satisfied.

Great food, service and atmosphere

Our large group for dinner were all very happy and well served by staff. Excellent food! Highly recommend!

Quite the find at this lush beautiful hideaway resort!!!!

By mrevent |

I sneaked away from the trick or treaters, and ventured over to Tidal at the Paradise Point Resort & Spa on Mission Bay. The property sits on a 44-acre island with a mile of beach, five pools, bonfire pits, a marina, five dining venues and an award-winning spa. Tidal, formerly Baleen, is in what was in the 60’s a private mid-century modern beach house built by Hollywood producer Jack Skirball. It has been remodeled recently and given a beautiful new modern look. It features local ingredients, from seafood and produce to Con Pane bread and a cheese program from Venissimo, all in tune with the style of celebrated Chef Amy DiBiase. The menu is incredible but I couldn’t get past the appetizers. I told my server Lucas I was stumped. He said surely if I wasn’t ordering anything else that three of the four appetizers I chose would be enough. He picked three and the order in which I should have them. For starters I had yellowtail carpaccio with pomegranate, Thai chili, lemon & avocado mayo with basil and a craft cocktail called ā€œThee Barnacleā€ which had Milargro cayenne infused tequila with pressed grapefruit, lemon & agave syrup. A great little bit of heat to accompany the incredible cool and delicious yellowtail. Next it was the foie gras torchon with grilled figs, onion-ginger confit, & pistachios with brioche toast points and a glass of Brave & Maiden Estate 2013 Cabernet Franc. It was outstanding and perfect with the foie gras. For my final appetizer I had the venus clams in a salsify puree with purple potato chunks & bacon bits. Wow, I wanted to drink the broth, no amount of bread would be enough to sop it up. These beautiful tender clams were in a whiteish shell edged in purple which make such a beautiful presentation with the purple potatoes. I couldn't resist a dessert: the baked butterscotch pudding topped with mascarpone cream & paired with Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Single Malt Scotch. This is a special place to dine and what great food and service!

Excellence

By Lisa S |

We came down to escape the heat and stayed at this property. Initially we were hesitant to make a reservation at Tidal. The negative reviews were a concern. Well fear not, our experience was 5 star in all areas. We had a reservation at 6:15 and were promptly seated by the friendly hostess. We chose the patio with seating facing the bay. Our server Melissa ( highly recommend) greeted us with genuine smiles and warmth. Again, nothing like we read in previous reviews. Ordered our drinks and promptly received. We weren't in a rush to order our Donner. Melissa was fine with it even on a Friday night. When we did order she was knowledgeable on the entire menu. She even went as far to ask the chef if he would give my octopus a quick char on the grill. Most chefs would have refused. This chef happily obliged and we thanked him in the way out. His menu selection is excellent. Every area we interacted with was outstanding. Our entrees were the above mentioned octopus and Pacific Sea Bass with mushroom risotto. Both entrees had such flavor and the presentation was excellent. This restaurant is a must stop whether you stay at the Paradise Point Resort or visiting San Diego. Melissa, thanks for your attentive and enthusiastic service, Chef, thanks for obliging the char on the octopus. Lastly Teddy the manager on duty thanks for stopping over the table so we could express our appreciation. Next trip down we will come again. Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Memorial Weekend Family Vacation

By Chris P |

We are staying at the resort and thought we would check out the restaurant that the stuff raved about - Tidal. The restaurant is incredibly designed with a cool, beach house look and killer FFE throughout. The patio overlooking the harbor and bay is were you want to sit when the weather is great. We had an incredible server, she was pleasant and very accommodating. Our meals were good. The menu is very "foodie" so don't expect normal faire. The items we ordered were prepared perfectly - my wife got the Mexican Prawns wood fired over polenta and I ordered the Kumquat glazed pork cheek's with a pea and scallion ragout. They were goth great. My only gripe - the kids menu. It was written by someone that doesn't have kids. Tidal needs to get realistic about the items it offer kids and what kids actually want. All menu items for kids were served in three courses, which is a great idea. The first course you can select from Crudite or Cheese and Crackers and the third course you can select from a brownie or fruit. The second course needs work. My son ordered the Petite Top Sirloin and my daughter ordered the buttered noodles. These two were fine and I think they also offered a roasted chicken, but there should be a few other options with sides that kids want. Kids meals about $20. Overall great experience and great service!

Great Choice for Outdoor Dining

By perromore |

I was here with a friend who is a local - very relaxed and comfortable setting on the water. But not casual. I was Jonesing for scallops and even though these came from Maine the guys at Tidal knew what to do with them. Really lovely. My friend had the coconut soup which was worth sharing and the poke, not so much. Our server Douglass was very accommodating so when he recommended the cheesecake we said yes, please. Menu does not do it justice. Really divine. Listen to Douglass.

Expensive, but interesting!

By JJ Y |

Be prepared to spend a few bucks--not really family friendly. The food is good--I have a halibut, which lacked a little flavor, but my husband ordered beef cheek; it was delicious!

Had family dinner in special room

By Joan W |

We were well seated for 23 folks and able to move and visit with ease. Our service was excellent. The environment was excellent for family vacation dinner.

Good But Overpriced

By trophywest |

We came with family for dinner. They had a Mexican theme going with rice, beans, chips & salsa, then choice of meats. It was good but twice what I'd normally pay for that in a restaurant.

Excellent food with an excellent view

The restaurant is on the grounds of the Paradise Point resort and there is plenty of parking for the restaurant. We arrived early and were the only ones in the place; we didn't think that was a good sign. However, we sat outside with a great view of the bay and the food was really, really good. We started with an ahi tuna sashimi, which was wonderful. For the main course, we had the special, which was a whole roasted fish that was also terrific. Very personable server, pleasant setting and great food. I'd come back.

Great Food Great Setting

By Fanny C |

Food is excellent from appetizers to main course, a bit expensive but worth it. We sat outside- great view and are kept warm by real fire heating posts!

Family friendly dining.

the service was perfect. The food was tasty. I loved that it's a true family friendly dining option. There was a family with adorable kids and well behaved doggies.

Exceptional food and views of the San Diego bay

By Alexa C |

This place is a hidden gem located in a little island on the bay. The food is outstanding as I have been for brunch and dinner. My favorite has been the octopus, tuna poke, the extensive cheese board, Kalua pork Benedict, and the scallops. Not only is the food executed on point and with beautiful presentation, the service is also superb. I have had the pleasure to have Landon and Kennedy as my bartenders. These guys really know how to whip up great cocktails! I also appreciate the conversation and hospitality I receive when dining here. I always look forward to introducing guests to dine here as the ambiance, views, and food/drinks are unique.

Accommodating staff

Our server was great with our dietary needs and the entire staff was very nice. The cocktails are incredible here as well!

Wow, great food

By Mike4mula |

We had dinner there on Saturday, and the food was outstanding. Luckily, we were with good friends and got to taste each other's food. One of us had their mussels, and the broth was flavorful, and buttery, OMG, delicious. I had the 8 oz top sirloin, and I wished I had not eaten a late lunch earlier. Tender, done perfectly, and seasoned just right. One of us had the lamb shank, and it fell of the bone, with a light seasoning; different then the way we make it, and so glad we tried it because it was a great departure. The service is top notch, and the young lady running Tidal was attentive and eager to answer our questions. The view of the bay is splendid and relaxing. Go and plan on spending some quality time enjoying a great meal, at a hidden gem.

Absolutely delicious

By Sarah N |

When you stay at a resort, it always feels a little risky to me to eat at the high end restaurant on the property when there are so many great places with great reviews out there. However, to get a seaside table with a heat lamp and amazing food and service made me wish I'd dined there sooner. It was one of our best meals while away. We had super service from Kennedy, including great meal suggestions.

Happy hour is a joke

By Afsoon72 |

If you're expecting to go there for happy hour, let me save you the trouble. Happy hour on the price if you are sitting at the bar or the patio, which is a total of 12 seats. If those 12 seats are taken... you pay full price. We had dinner here ($110 for a steak), and since it was doing happy hour, ask if five drinks are on happy hour price. Nope! What a joke.

Yummy!

By Dixie L |

If you go to ask for Rachel! She is amazing, attentive and funny! The food was good and Rachel's service was excellent!

Breathtaking view and good food

By Gayane G |

Tried the drinks, brunch, dinner and lunch and all are fantastic. The desert '' Baklava'' was to die for. The service is great.

Lovely food here

By KentMadmum |

We really liked it here and ate twice. The steak was amazing as was the pork cheeks. They also have happy hour week days as it is not cheap but worth it.

Worth finding

By BirdBikingBuddha |

It's not easy to work the web of Mission Bay limited access highways to make your way to Tidal, but it's worth it Hidden within the Paradise Point Resort complex. We had visited originally when it was under another name But a new name and a new chef have propelled this place to a heavenly level. We enjoyed exquisite appetizers for our dinner - mussels in a leek-fennel borth and brulee'd chicken liver puree with pickled onions and a swet corn relish. Our patient and compassionate server, Eileen, went above and beyond the call of duty to soothe us when my wife needed to resolve a family crisis on the phone.Dessert was a strawberry-rhubarb galette in a almond flour crust. It did not disappoint. Nor did the sunset over San Diego Bay. The service, ambiance, and food were exquisite - and worth finding.

Best Valentine's Day Dinner Experience

By MNVoyageuse |

We ate at Tidal with 3 other couples and we all agreed we couldn't have picked a better spot for out last meal in San Diego which happened to be Valentine's Day. The service was superior and the waitress gave us GREAT recommendations. The beef cheeks were delicious as were the mashed potatoes and gravy they were served with. Everyone loved their meals which included filet mignon, salmon and the fish special. I highly recommend this place for your next special occassion.

Culinary Magic

By rkl112013 |

Tidal was a huge and wonderful surprise on our visit to Paradise Point Resort. We dined there on multiple nights and were wowed by the excellent service and the magical culinary delights created by Chef Andrew Reyes. This is a restaurant where you have to experience the chef’s tasting menu. Logan, Daniel and Aaron all made us feel as if we were special guests. Logan shared his knowledge of the food and wines and helped make our first night memorable. Daniel took over on night two and made our second night as good as the first. Aaron was with us both nights and took the supporting role to the next level. Chef Andrew’s dishes took the spotlight. He was very personable and made us feel like long lost family. His creations were unique and artful presentations of absolute culinary magic. We can’t wait to return!!!

Excellent food, remarkable service, great view

By LaLaLeah |

Taylor was a remarkable server who offered lovely suggestions throughout the meal. The chef did a tremendous job with all the dishes, from the octopus appetizer to the coconut sorbet for dessert. Highly recommended!

Three guests all gave it an 8 out of 10

By traveltheworldcs |

We really enjoyed our meals. A few warnings: If you order appetizers they are very rich in flavor. So I suggest just one to share for 3 or 4 people then maybe even share a dinner. The food is very hearty and full and you will feel full quickly. A quick run down of what we ordered: 3 Barnacles drink - LOVED it. Spicy and delicious. Foie Gras - LOVED it. But very rich and I could have finished eating after this...but I didn't. The pane (bread) with butter, oil, and beet humus. Very good. All high quality ingredients. Now the mains: Pork Cheeks - dark meat so very heavy. My husband really liked it but said it was too much. Duck con fit - It was good but I wouldn't order it again. I've had better. Pasta with crab was the hit of the evening. Delicious. Desserts: Butterscotch pudding - excellent. Strawberry/rhubarb tart - good not great. So overall we really enjoyed everything but mostly what I liked about the food was their ability to create new and interesting food. I'm constantly looking for something to entertain my taste buds. The view is great and so was the service.

Expensive but good!

By Reginald S |

We had dinner on the patio. It wasn't busy at all. Waiter was excellent - fast, fun and friendly. Portions were not huge but it was very hot and tasty.

Very good

By shakespearenut |

We enjoyed a hosted dinner here during our stay at Paradise Point where my husband was attending a convention. The food was really, really good! Our table had a lovely view of the water, and the ambiance was very nice. My husband had a chicken dish that he thought was delicious, and I had a steak which was great. No complaints!

Great food and service.

By Genie D |

I would recommend having dinner here. We were promptly seated and even given a blanket as it was a bit chilly outside. The food was tasty and the waiter was very attentive.

Great location. Good food

By Cindy C |

Great service. Lovely location. Food was outstanding. Had a flatbread pizza that was excellent. A bit overpriced, but good. Nice for couples. Leave the kids at home!

Casual setting and delicious food!

By Marika F |

Tidal (at Paradise Point)is a casual and delicious restaurant sitting right beside the marina and offers glorious outdoor seating (complete with heat lamps when it turns chilly). Kids will love their own three-course menu. Adults, try the mussels or burrata appetizers, paired with California wines, then move on to one of their many fresh seafood selections. Delicious Eggs Benedict!

By jodagayton |

Make sure to make a reservation way in advance for the Sunday Brunch at the Tidal Restaurant at the Paradise Point Resort - delicious! We sat outside right on the water and we all loved the Eggs Benedict - we ordered the "maple sugar-rubbed salmon, smoked beef brisket, and the brioche french toast. The serving size is very large! Our waiter was very friendly! One of the best brunches I have had!

Terrible Service!

By RMMaids |

My friends and I were staying at paradise point and decided we had to eat here one night for dinner! We were sadly disappointed and although The restaurant itself is beautiful, the hostess was friendly and personable, we had a terrible server and it tainted our experience. The menu was eclectic compared to what I am used to so we had a number of questions for our server. He seemed very irritated and inconvenienced like we were wasting his time. He continued to serve us throughout our entire meal without even a hint of a smile or a laugh. He made us feel uncomfortable and we looked forward to leaving. The crab cakes were quite fishy tasting for my liking and small portion for the price you pay. I ordered the shell and cheek but wasn't informed they were out of the cheek until the dish was brought to my table. I was surprised I wasn't offered a different option but even more surprised I paid the same price for just scallops. By that point I wasn't about to question anything with our server, I just wanted to leave. My friend whom I was with said she felt like because he thought he wouldn't make any money off of us he didn't really care. Anyways, I will never eat here again due to the poor service.

Impressive....but....

By Kevin P |

Beautiful location...impressive interior...great service...but...was a bit loud...the menu was lacking...not a real warm atmospheric feeling. (We did eat inside due to cooler weather.)

Very Good Seafood

By gpbvkb |

Had dinner here twice (once outdoors). Service was excellent and the food was very good. Only problem was being served some fancy bread and butter, thinking it was free, and it's not!

Fine Dining with great views of Mission Bay

By Rich G |

This restaurant, part of the Paradise Point resort offers American cuisine with an ambitious menu that is fairly well executed. Staff is attentive, friendly and courteous, however service can be fast paced unless you advise otherwise. The room is open style with very good views of Mission Bay. There is also outdoor seating where heaters are employed for chilly afternoons/ evenings. Free self parking is available and you don't have to be hotel guest to use the lot or the restaurant. Menu items are somewhat pricey.

Tasty Brunch

By sarasells88512 |

Was in from out of town visiting my cousin and celebrating her 21st birthday. Friends arranged for a beautiful brunch on a deck that overlooks the Mission Bay. We had a large party and our server who made it look effortlessly somehow separated all of our food and drinks on ten separate checks. She never even asked who ordered what! Sharp and very nice. Her name was Melissa. She and the Chef also brought out a brownie sundae with a birthday candle in it! It made the birthday girl feel really special. Thank you!

Amazing Lobster Roll

By Daft Life of Adulting |

This restaurant is part of the Paradise Point resort in San Diego. The place is small, but worth a look into. The grounds are an amazing clash of historical California only resort and up and coming resort of today. Located right on the water, there is an underground bunker made into part of the restaurant. Since a recent update, several restaurants occupy the same space. So pizza is just around the corner. Relax, drink up, and enjoy one of the best lobster rolls I have ever had. Its nothing fancy. Stroll the grounds and see all the man made lakes and climb the observation tower too.

Server Rachel deserves 10 stars; great atmosphere

By heather j |

My husband and I went here with a group of friends. We ate on the outdoor deck which has lots of heat lamps if needed. The restaurant itself and the beautiful sunset views were gorgeous. We even had a view of SeaWorld’s fireworks off to the side. This place is all about the atmosphere— comfortable, friendly customers, views, and our amazing waitress, Rachel. She was seriously the best server I’ve ever had - super personable, friendly, very witty and good at her job. She alone was worth the visit. We all loved her. On the other hand, the food was good, but not amazing IMO, and I felt the food was overpriced for what I received. I was not at all impressed with the jidori chicken (but perhaps I shouldn’t have ordered chicken at a seafood restaurant!). My husband had the scallops; he said they were good but not enough food - he was happy we had appetizers. We also had the island rolls which were good (similar to King’s Hawaiian rolls but bigger and warm) and the empanadas which were fine. Oh, and there was a wedding reception there when we arrived. And there is a full bar inside. And free parking in the parking lot.

Great Menu

By Beverly S |

There were so many delicious offerings, it was incredibly hard to decide! Our waiter, Daniel, was outstanding! I had never had the type of fish on special that night...Pacific Tilefish, but it was amazing! Drinks were unique and delicious! Glad for the patio heaters, as the nights were getting cooler.

Go with the flow and enjoy TIDAL

By MsAmandaGreene |

The nicest restaurant at Paradise Point, worth the price for the wow worthy view of the Bay and the menu was divine. Delicious food and great service make this restaurant a must when you are in San Diego or Mission Bay.

Very Good Seafood in a Lovely Setting

By YorbaLindaStar |

I loved the entrance to this restauran. Decor was lovely and the food quite delicious. I ordered the Seafood Stew without pasta, consistently of a very large portion that was tasty. The desserts were the best part of the meal with the chocolate banana thing just to die for. Service was good and it was a pleasant environment.. Cocktails were ok. A nice basic meal.

Overpriced and uninspired

By N s |

A nice location but the food was uninspired. The foie gras was insipid - a classic example of taking expensive ingredients and wasting the on an uninteresting dish. The "confit" was dry with a dry vegetable that soaked up the little gravy. The cheese board was interesting, but I like my cheese with more flavor. Thankfully, the service was OK.

Tidal Restaurant

By Vikki F |

A co-worker and I shared several things off the menu. They encouraged us sharing and did not penalize us for doing so. It allowed us to try some new foods done in a very delicious way.

A Fantastic Experience!!

By darknst0rmy |

This place was top notch! High-quality, professional service, great ambiance, impeccable view and the most amazing food to back it up! I was staying at the nearby Bahia and this place got top ratings and I fully concur with all of them. I had a nice view overlooking the water and when the sun went down, there was a heater nearby to keep me cozy. My waiter was very informed and recommended a blend of wine that I was not familiar with and it was fantastic! I ordered 2 appetizers as my meal, the crab cake and the octopus and honestly, I enjoyed EVERY SINGLE BITE! I also got the most flavorful trio of sorbet for dessert. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

not for me.

I visited for drinks but I wasn't impressed, maybe it was just me, but thought they were trying to be better than they are.

Order anything except the Grouper

By DougManson |

We were in San Diego for my son’s graduation and staying a nearby Airbnb home. We saw this resort restaurant and decided to try it out for some fresh seafood. The atmosphere is upscale island tropical. The Tidal hostess was gracious and seated us at a table with a view of the water. Tidal has extensive outdoor seating on the bay. It was a bit cool for Floridians so we stayed inside. My wife ordered a beet salad and loved it. I had their specialty coconut soup which was a little spicy the way I like it and had two good size and amazingly fresh shrimp. My sons skipped the soup and salad and went straight to the entrees. One son had the halibut with toasted almond coating and it was delicious. My other son ordered the salmon and profess it was tasty. I was given a bite of the halibut and confirm it was fresh and perfectly prepared. Other son did not share but wolfed his salmon in short order. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. Now this is where the title comes in, the wife and I ordered the grilled grouper. In Florida grouper is a staple among seafood. It is a white, light flaky fish with a mild flavor. However, we are in California so maybe their grouper is different but this was a tough and rope like in texture fish with gelatinous fat. The skin on top was rubbery, with a quarter inch of said fat. The rice and herb mixture under the fish was tasty and well prepared. My wife sent her fish back after one bite and had the halibut and enjoyed it. I decided to suffer through it. I ate about half and had to stop. By the way, the waiter and manager could not have more gracious in changing out my wife’s meal. Everything atTidal was good except that grouper. I cannot imagine any method that type fish could by prepare and be even passable. Stay away from it and you will have a great meal!

Absolutely Exceptional!

Enjoyed a wonderful Christmas buffet dinner with family. The excellent food was equaled only by the warm and attentive service. Great experience!

Excellent in every way

By Joe S |

I was a little skeptical driving up to Tidal but it was great. Great food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend that you try the poke appetizer.

Great Service & good food!

The staff were amazing, very professional & fun! Especially Mike, Landon, Daniel, Raechel, & Kennedy!

Fantastic service!!

By Justin W |

I took my girlfriend here for Valentine’s Day and was blown away by the quality of service I received from Daniel. He was personable, informative, and really funny. It’s was great! The food was also delicious. All around a great visit.

Good Food

By DGH84 |

We had a good meals at Tidal. For a hotel restaurant it was very good. The service was excellent. We ate outside and it was warm because they have gas heaters. I would recommend this restaurant.

Great Service but Blah Expensive Food

By treeElmhurst_il |

We were staying at the hotel, so we decided to try the restaurant. It had some interesting items on the menu like pork cheeks. We all tried something new and were disappointed. The fish didn't have much flavoring, the scallops were good but the pork cheeks were very very dry, Tbone was okay but not great. It's an expensive place, so we really were disappointed by the meal. Service was good, however.

Best pork chop EVER!

By dawnbristow |

Very nice atmosphere, beautiful outdoor seating area with nice space heaters in the winter. Our service was unsurpassed and the meal was exceptional!

Great food and service with a smile

By ForbesOste |

Logan, our awesome waiter, helped us find the most delicious food! The brussel sprouts were yummy. The beets and burrata refreshing and flavorful. Thanks for a great evening!

Remarkable!

By OVilla10 |

Tried out this place for the first time with friends and I was blown away! The views are great, it felt as if you were on the beach without getting sand in your shoes. The food and cocktail list were impressive, we let our server choose dinner for us (since we couldn't decide), and Andrew did not disappoint. He was kind enough to do a makeshift tasting menu, which left a lasting impression. We'll be back soon for Happy Hour!

The food and service here was amazing!!

By BGarcia901 |

We had several meals here and attended a cocktail reception, everything was amazing. The salmon benedict in the morning was all the rage, the chef came out and even shared her recipe with one of the guests. Waiters were outstanding.

Pricey but delicious!

By njmomofthree3 |

Amazing dinner. We were here on a Thursday night so had a Mexican flair Had tortilla soup, one of the most delicious pieces of fish I’ve ever had and some awesome sides and dessert. Our server was lovely as well. Pricey but delicious!

AMAZING.

By Danielle G |

Best anniversary dinner. Staff (Taylor in particular) was awesome. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is looking for something truly special.

Awesome service and food at Tidal!

By Lara M |

Great food and service! We sat at the bar for drinks and dinner. The bartender, Aaron(?) delivered excellent service with a fun and friendly attitude. We were the only customers at the bar for most of the time and Aaron made us feel special. I was in town visiting my cousin and after a day at the pools and spa, we had a lovely time at Tidal. I had the flat iron steak and my cousin had the sea bass. The service was so awesome that I called back to find out the bartenders name. So... I really hope his name is Aaron.

Great Service, great views, hit and miss on the food

By justhe2ofus2017 |

Ate here 3 times, service and ambiance were the best, the food was all over the place, good apps (not the empanadas) octopus was amazing, wagu, burger sucked, cold hard bread, overcooked and bland, beef cheeks were horrible and do NOT have the duck Confit, empanadas, who purees duck? All 1 note and bland. Good wines.

Awesome Dinner Celebration

By JoeyT21630 |

My fiance and I went to Tidal to celebrate a couple of things, and Daniel (our server) was fantastic! He helped us with our menu, we had great conversation (but also gave us ample time to enjoy being alone), and he was also our "amateur photographer" at sunset - and got a great shot! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very elegant. The view of the water didn't hurt either. We were even given a couple bites of the coconut sorbet in between our appetizer and entrees (delicious).

Gluten free options

By h0llyb404 |

We dinned at Tidal in July 2016. With little notice they were able to accommodate 15 of us for dinner and provide my gluten allergy son with an amazing dinner. Great view off the deck. Thank you

Loud and strange food choices

By NenaOregon |

I wouldn't go back here if given the choice. I like fairly simple fish or other food with other foods to mix with it or compliment it. I don't go for "Foo Foo" food, as I call it. Just give me good food that tastes great. This was expensive and not so special in my book.

Overpriced Seafood and SMALL Portions

By frankdY2659TP |

Very disappointed. The quality versus price is insane. The portions are so tiny, you leave hungry and feeling robbed for having forked over close to $325. When my scallops arrived, I thought I was on a hidden camera show. 4 medium scallops for $32 and to add insult to injury, they don't come with anything else on the plate except designer inedible decorations. I had to order a side of green beans for $10 more, so $42 for a dinner....it gets worse. Appetizers are so small, don't think of sharing. No dessert on the plate for less than $10 and again, so tiny. For two couples having two appetizers and one drink the bill was robbery. If the food was plentifully and we left satisfied, then I'd feel better spending that money. I seriously think the 5 star ratings are fabricated or they are in need of reality medication.

Interesting Breakfast Menu

By Gwen C |

We went for Sunday Breakfast/Brunch. We had a large group and sat inside by a large picture window, beautiful tropical view. Our server was very nice and friendly. Very attentive. The menu is interesting, I guess it’s Hawaiian style. All egg dishes were served with garlic rice (hum?). I was able to substitute for the tri colored potatoes which were very good. They actually offer homemade spam that no one tried but I may next time. The Vanilla Waffles with fruit were amazing! Great perfectly cooked bacon! Portuguese sausage was delicious. Very pricey.

What a wonderful experience!

By DrAwesomepants |

Went here for happy hour. The drinks and food were AMAZING!! Our bartender was awesome. Their desserts are delicious. Will definitely return to this restaurant.

Delish!

By Jen S |

5! Delish food, great ambiance, very friendly wait staff. Outside seating is incredible but it was too cold so we sat inside- fun atmosphere! We all over our food- especially the clam chowder and short ribs . My husband said it was the best meat he had ever had .my daughter loved the ā€œmock tailsā€ for kids- they were so good, I wanted one! Lots of care and creativity put into that which made it fun for her. Superb and happy waitress who was a delight. Highly recommend.

Amazing dinner! Fun and friendly atmosphere

By Relax746463 |

I dined at Tidal just before the holidays with my fiancĆ© and since I hadn’t been there since they had chef Amy, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Well it definitely exceeded my expectations and then some! We had the 4 course tasting and wine pairing which was delicious. The restaurant was very busy but chef Sean still went out of his way to come out and give us a full background on each dish which made everything extra special. Each dish was spectacular, beautifully plated and went perfectly with the well thought-out wine pairing. Our server Daniel gave pristine service and was very accommodating. He even brought us out a blanket since I had left my warm jacket at home. (I know, as if it’s ever really cold in San Diego..I’m a wimp). He took extra time to give us his recommendations even though it was super busy. Service like this is very much appreciated. Also, Debby the manager came out in the beginning and end of our meals to make sure everything was to our satisfaction and was very friendly and extra accommodating. Will definitely be back.

Terrific food and Daniel is the best

By Chris A |

Saturday night dinner for our family was so much better because Daniel is on the top of his game! The experience was effortless and the food is just terrific.

Beautiful view and atmosphere

By CorderoAmor |

Terrific view, great atmosphere (especially at sunset), okay service, and okay food. The menu is definitely interesting, don't get me wrong. But the results were just okay, when compared to the price. The staff were nice but the wait for food and lack of in between service was a little disappointing. Can't really blame them though, there was a wedding reception wrapping up outside - they were probably very busy cleaning that up and catering to everyone over there.

Great restaurant!

By katyshouse |

We all enjoyed our meals, the chef was superb and our server was excellent. We sat outside so the view was fantastic.

Average fair for superb prices

By Rod S |

Tidal Restaurant in San Diego is a part of a resort. It is more than expensive, catering to tourists who don't know the options in San Diego. Service was good, wine selection limited but pricey as was the beer selection. I have dined all over the world, and this is the first restaurant that you had to pay for the bread. The chicken I had was at best mediocre, cooked well, but poorly seasoned. Our party was seated indoors, and the constant hum from the exhaust motors in the open kitchen were a distraction and became annoying. Definitely not worth the price. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Salty food salty patron

By Jana E |

I was so excited for fresh scallops coming from the Midwest and so disappointed. It tasted as though my scallops were coated in salt numerous times. I could not even taste the flavor of the scallop itself. I am happy to pay the price for good food but this was awful.

Good, Pricey - It won't change your World

By OccaisionalTravel |

Food and service were very good and should be for the prices. Atmosphere and decor are high end. I had the 10oz Prime Beef Top Sirloin. Portions could have been a bit more generous.

Really good food

By beth ann k |

Our dinner was excellent, but quite pricey. Our servers were also fantastic and we definitely enjoyed our dinner.

Pretty Setting, Good Food, No Crowds

By Cary L |

Tidal is tucked away inside the Paradise Point Resort on Mission Bay, and so is invisible to most people. As a result, it is rarely crowded, despite having great views (including sunset view), a creative menu, a very hospitable staff and easy parking. A great alternative to the pricier, crowded places on the downtown waterfront or along the beach.

Great food and service

By Wendy M |

Delicious! I would not recommend their Christmas buffet but otherwise their menu and views are great! Sunday brunch is delicious!

Good place for drinks

By 949ww |

Had drinks and snacks at this restaurant. Good service, reasonable prices, good quality. Hours at night were limited.

Amazing view and wonderful service

By Amber J |

The view is amazing for watching the sunset on Mission Bay. The restaurant is very nice and the service a great. The food does need to have more flavor. I had the local bass with a seafood broth that was more watery then a flavorful broth. My friends had the scallops and they said they were good but the pasta they were on was a bit bland too.

Scallops were amazing

By billmoose73 |

Celebrated a family birthday with a lot of people and they had no problem taking care of us. I had the scallops with kale pasta that was suggested by our waitress, it was excellent! Melissa had us in a private room and her service was more than we expected considering how busy it was. She was very nice and especially helpful with dietary restrictions. Thank you!

Nice but soooooo pricey

By ohdonnaoh |

Nice view but OMG so pricey! You know a place is expensive when a kids meal is $20!!!! So we're the appetizers. We went for the very pricey Tomahawk steak since it was less expensive than getting 2 adults mains and 2 kids meals. The steak itself was delicious but had to be sent back for another slight grill (better under done than over done!) The "home baked" island rolls also were not gratis and honestly, the ones you buy in the orange plastic bag are better than these. There was nothing home made tasting about them. The fries tasted like they were coated in sugar, the purple yams felt like baby food. The dessert was too sweet. The saving grace - Sweet Melissa, our lovely server! She coulbi have been more sweet and gracious. She comped us the dessert since the steak had to be sent back. I know that when staying at a resort convenience is key, but Paradise Point needs to step up it's game, or lower the prices. I've had Michelin star meals that cost less!

Outside Deck Dinner

By Perkadventures |

Came here to meet family for dinner. Promptly seated on deck. Wind was blowing and they turned on the portable gas infrared to keep the chill away Menu's given and drink's order taken. Drinks brought and basic meal order taken, Kobe Hamburger, scallops, poke, mussels, and chicken. Food brought hot and tasty. Waiters were attentive to our needs and we were satisfied with what we received.

LATER NIGHT DINNING

By PALMSPRINGSCOUPLE48 |

Enjoyed chatting with the bartender and his polite way of dealing with customers. The food was very good.Met a group from class of 1972 Mission Bay High School who were having there reunion in the restaurant...so got the real history of this Island property.Seems if the local use it ,it must be good.

Great though expensive

By vanjo22 |

This is a great restaurant that is part of the Paradise Point Resort. We visited it on the last day only, for the rest we were out in San Diego. The restaurant offered a decent menu, though what surprised me most, was what they charged for it. It feels like a tourist trap. Anyway, I enjoyed that Halibut LauLau.

Pierre a real waiter!

By Alexandre C |

Really good service, come with a walk-in and they did found a place for us. The cocktails are really good. I liked how Pierre the french guys help us to choose our cocktail and was really nice with us.

A perfect waterside evening

By pureblueskies |

We enjoyed a long, pleasant evening at Tidal. The outdoor seating right on the beach was gorgeous. The food was amazing. We even had trouble choosing from the excellent wine list - there were several of our favorites which we don't find most places. We ordered the cheese tray, which was beautifully presented and included a nice variety of tastes. We also selected a cold shrimp salad (delicious) and diver scallops (ditto) with a side of rapini. We ended up sharing a butterscotch pudding which was fantastic. Kudos to the chef and the charming wait staff. You made our evening memorable.

Great Service, Beautiful Presentation, Delicious Food

By Jacoba |

Dinner here was a worthwhile splurge. It was too cold for the patio, but the West Indies type decor was very pretty inside. I was there during restaurant week and thought the chef's prix fixe menu was delicious and beautifully-plated although the dessert was overly rich.

Amazing!

Prepare yourself for a modern artistic twist on hearty classics. Flavor combinations that shouldn’t work but do make for a dining experience I’ll never forget. Taylor in particular made the experience enjoyable and memorable from beginning to end!

Pricey but good

Dinner was expensive but the food was good. We could only afford to eat there once but has a romantic sunset meal.

AMAZING Chef - Bayside Seating

By Diane P |

LOVE this gem of a restaurant. The menu is a bit eclectic - but everything we've ordered we have enjoyed. I particularly like the fish wrapped in paper, delicious! My only negative is that their dessert menu is lacking CHOCOLATE! Sit outside and watch the sailboats glide by, enjoy a sunset - beautiful!

Noisy Patio

By LadyHostess |

The food was beyond incredible. Succulent tender beef check braised in a lightly sweet bbq hinted jus. The trout perfectly cooked lightly flaking away from the skin served with a corn cake expertly prepared. The service was outstanding. The bussed anticipating our every need including to be moved in doors. Due to the deck board flooring every time a quick moving server walks by your chair is shaken and for whatever reason the clientele on the deck last evening the the most incredibly loud group of people I have ever dined around. We were sat between two large groups whom we felt in the middle of their conversations because they were so loud. I could hardly concentrate on what to order due to the volume of other guests. The staff handled this very professionally and whisked us indoors without missing a step. Do yourself a favor and if it seems noisy right away and you are trying to enjoy a relaxed meal stay inside.

Great Dining Experience

By Charles M |

We found this place while staying at another resort across the bay. Their outdoor torches and lighting caught my attention and caused me to find out that it was all about. Checking trip advisor I found out that it was rated pretty high. So I reserved a table for five on a Thursday night. We were warmly greeted. The food service was enthusiastic and welcoming. We tried the Tuna, Swordfish, Scallop and bread. The presentations were excellent and the food was outstanding. We mentioned that we were celebrating two Anniversaries and a Birthday this day and we were presented with an impromptu desert plate to share with a candle. Definitely a great dining experience.

Surprise: the restaurant was fantastic

By ChuckeyGal |

The hotel seemed so outdated, we were shocked to find that Tidal was so up-dated and had such an impressive menu. We ended up eating there twice during our stay and were pleased both times. The seafood was perfectly cooked - fish in paper was excellent. We sat at the bar for drinks and appetizer one night and the bartender was extremely knowledgeable and filled us in on all the local and specialty wines and spirits they had to offer. The wait staff were excellent both meals. We were super impressed by each selection as were some business associates who were there too.

Superb service and to-die-for Octopus

By Ckkemble |

Taylor @ Tidal was fantastic. So accommodating, great/patient explanations/answers and on point recommendations. Wish we were here another night to eat here again! And the octopus! Blew the local San Diego competitors out of the water!! Wow. Gonna have dreams about that octopus!

Great Dining in a Gorgeous Waterside Location

By Thomas W |

Had two meals at Tidal this week, associated with a company event. The locations sits right at the water and is charming. Had the coconut soup (awesome!) and the butter Halibut (equally awesome!). In addition to great dining, the service was superb with a staff of very nice and professional people. The wine list is equally good.

Best Meal We Have Had in Years

By Colin Archibald |

The ambiance s outstanding with a beach setting looking out on Mission Bay. The Patio is the place to sit especially at sunset. Our Server, Taylor was incredible very accommodating, informative and friendly. The Chef Andrew Reyes is a true Gem. He prepared a Chef's Tasting menu that was absolutely incredible and honestly one of the best meals we have had in many years. This was truly a dining experience. The artistry of this chef is something for the restaurant to be truly be proud of. If you are looking for a special place to celebrate a special event, I highly recommend Tidal.

Evgeny is a great host

Very cool restaurant. I like this atmosphere it's new age. Less beachy then the rest of the restaurants in San Diego... It's new age. Food was great but pricing on steak should be cut in half. Happy hour food was reasonably priced. Evgeny was a good conversation. I like hearing about people who have moved from one country (in his case russia) to San Diego. I'm a native San diegian do i am proud to hear how much everyone loves my city! Overall great staff and restaurant

Great Dinner - leave the kids home

By KLH33 |

Dinner was amazing. Order the paper fish! Delicious every time. Drinks yummy. I guess having early reservations to a nice restaurant you open the door to kids running around the restaurant. That was a total distraction- especially when two of them were jumping on the couch and then just took off. When the parents realized their 3/4 year olds were gone, they finally paid attention. Too bad these parents didn't plan better. Everyone would have had a nicer environment. Planning a later dinner next time.

Late Dinner on Christmas Night

By Kindt Steven M |

I was on a leisure trip and traveling solo on Christmas day. I enjoyed a delicious prix fixe menu and some perfectly paired red wine (selections suggested by the restaurant manager), followed by a dessert that was to-die-for! I will be back to Tidal every time I'm in San Diego. The views were spectacular for late evening, or to view the Western sunset. Also would be nice for casual date night or even family dining. Loved!

Overpriced, over cooked food!!!

By dermgoddess |

Four of us sat at the bar for 1 hour having drinks.... 7 drinks---$140????? Really? 2 of us then had dinner....... server was bubbly but not very attentive. The wine was so so (very surprising for California) but the dinner was awful!!! We waited almost 45 minutes for our entrees to arrive......my opah was so overlooked I could not cut it!!! Decided not to send it back as I didn't want to wait another hour!!! My advice? Pass on this restaurant and eat at the barefoot bar and grill

MUST RETURN IN DAYLIGHT!

By Bosanchubo |

This restaurant is in an awesome, seaside setting, but we were there in the evening. Still, all was great, especially the mac & cheese & rock crab appetizer! Dinners were shared, one couple getting scallops, and the other, a pork chop. We enjoyed outdoor dining (we had a small pet with us), as well as the awesome warming heater, since the evening was cool. Take the time to stroll around the property, and visit the fish pond!

Fantastic Experience

By Brian Perzinski |

Newly awarded San Diego Food and Wine winners. The food/wine did not disappoint. Sat out of the patio and got chilly, so Aaron came by to turn on the heat lamps. Our server Logan was kind and knew his stuff for wine. I had the Beef check with a side of mushrooms. YUM! Coming back when I am on the area!

Amazing view w/ good fish on the menu

By didi1205 |

On a Roadtrip with my kids - and the service was great, kids friendly, the food very good but most of all - the view and sunset amazing! There’re bonfires on the Beach and Tidal is really recommendable.

Excellent meal

A group of four of us had dinner, our waiter (kennedy?) was friendly and attentive, the food was tasty and well presented.

An Excellent Dinner!!!

By friscocruiser |

I hosted 10 people for a dinner. We were seated on the patio around 7:15PM. We had one waitress, and she was amazing, even with a busy night, she served us very well. The food was fantastic! Both steaks and seafood was wonderful. I had the fish in paper, and it was very, very good. Clam appetizer also very good. Really, not a single thing went wrong. I highly recommend this place.

Happy Thanksgiving 2017

By christinam22018 |

We had a fancy dinner at Tidal for Thanksgiving in 2017. Sitting out on the deck with the glow of the moon, the sparkling champagne and warm heaters... This is what San Diego experiences are all about.

Worth the time and effort

We had diner here one evening and enjoyed sitting out on the patio. The food was quite good and we recommend it...
