Lots of options in one place

By Riggz13 |

I really liked this place, only half the stalls were open when I visited but that still left me with lots of options. I got sushi and it was fresh and reasonably priced. Lots of room to eat, a good option if you've got a lot of people who don't want the same things. Excited to see what this looks like when they get some more vendors in there.

Time Out Market west loop

By IndustrialTim |

Time Out Market recently opened in the Fulton Market part of the West Loop. It is a very hip market with different stalls that are run by different chefs and restaurants. They have all sorts of types of food...something for everyone. We liked the fried chicken sandwich from Split Rail. There is even a rooftop bar which will be nice when it warms up. We will definitely be back... this is a great place to bring friends visiting Chicago.

Good and not so good

By Laurie D |

After being at the time out market in Lisbon just this year, I looked forward to checking out my home town Chicago’s version. A lot smaller but nice and bright inside. Had to try to Portuguese custard tarts which were pretty blouse to those we sampled at the original bakery in Belem, Portugal . Lost Larson pastries were phenomenal. We started our eating journey at Fare, with a delicious smoothie followed by a grain bowl with salmon that was cooked perfect. We then ordered grilled octopus from Band if Bohemia that looked liked an anemic, still gestating creature. And the greens it sat on were so drowned in a very acidic and unappetizing dressing, we left it uneaten. Waste of $14. The highlight were the Piri Piri shrimp at Abe Conlon. There were 5 huge shrimp, perfectly cooked in a vinho verde chili sauce. Just needed some bread to sop up that spicy goodness. Next time we will look at the Thai place which had some interesting choices. Compared to Lisbon, Chicago’s Time Out is pretty small which is disappointing given the size of our city and the culinary variety and excellence. Seems like a lot of wasted space on the upper level.

Not a restaurant but a collection of restaurants

By 2BEis2SKI |

Nice space. Ate lunch there today. Had Arami for my lunch and Lil Amaru for my lunch tomorrow. Plenty of seating. For a large hall, I was impressed that it was not too noisy. An enjoyable spot with a lot of great choices.

Chicago's newest (and best?) food hall

By Taylor B |

Time Out Market, Chicago's newest food hall, opened on November 21 and is rapidly gaining popularity as a go-to destination for sampling traditional recipes and newly created dishes from some of the city's finest chefs and restauranteurs. Located at 916 West Fulton Market in the West Loop neighborhood, at the corner of Fulton Market and Sangamon, this 50,000-square-foot space offers an expansive new food and cultural experience. It is home to 19 Chicago chefs and restauranteurs, 18 different kiosks, four bars, a demo kitchen, all-season rooftop, even a tropical speakeasy. Open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, Time Out Market offers everything from Mexican to Vietnamese cuisines, Italian beef to deep dish pizza and hot dogs to popcorn with an all-star lineup of chefs and restauranteurs that includes Purple Pig, Art of Pizza, Dos Urban Cantina, Thai Dang, Pretty Cool Ice Cream, Decent Beef, Duck Inn Dogs, Abe Conlon, Bill Kim, Brian Fisher and John Manion. Plan your lunch hour. My wife and I couldn't cover all bases, of course. But we certainly enjoyed pie master Art Shabez's deep dish pizza at Art of Pizza, with mozzarella, Italian sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, onions and red tomato sauce. And Kevin Hickey's first-ever Italian beef concept called Decent Beef at Hickey's Decent Beef emporium. Who can pass up a Chicago-style hot dog at Duck Inn Dogs? And be sure to try a cheddar and caramel ice cream Chicago Mix pop with bits of popcorn at Pretty Cool Ice Cream. Time Out Market is the next best thing to Taste Chicago.

First Class Food Court

By Alamills |

We had dinner here on a Friday night early January... cold outside. Several places from which to choose and all of them seemed pretty good. We ordered from Mini-Mott. Abe Conlon, Band of Bohemia, and John Manion, had dessert from Sugar Cube and all were good. Ambiance is a bit noisy without being over the top. To be honest great atmosphere. Try it out.

"HIPSTER" all the Way......

By SAKANAM |

Vibrant fast casual, re-imagined conversion of old warehouse district into creative space for a variety of food types....the pizza place I went to find lost it's battle to the Covid pandemic... so not Chicago tavern style to be found here anymore.

Fun culinary experience

By TravelerGabe |

This was a fun quick stop before I headed back to O’hare airport. It is essentially a big room with a bunch of mini-restaurants that you can order from. I did it solo but I can imagine this being a very fun activity with a group of friends!

Walk through and check it out

By Derek C |

It is a fun spot to have a variety of food and drink options. Three stories with new restaurants coming in soon. If you are in the area I would recommend stopping by and walking through.

Great place to meet friends.

By EphraimWilliams |

I went on a Thursday evening in June. Lots of options, but every place wasn’t open. It was very loud. I’ve been to Timeout Market Lisbon and prefer that location by far. It’s very close to the Morgan “L” station, which is convenient.

Great food market!

By mayamauchi |

A great food court! A variety of cuisine and restaurants. We came on a Sat around 2pm and it was pretty busy, but we found an ample amount of seats on the 2nd floor. My bf and I wanted to try a "taste" of everything so we did tapas-style by getting appetizers from 5 restaurants and sharing it! Definitely a $$ market but because we tried to do a tapas-style and got a variety, it was definitely worth it.

Something for Everyone

By elygreenstone |

Dang, this place is awesome. The bar features all-local beers, gorgeous cocktails, and a solid wine list. The food vendors offer a wide and consistently good variety of cuisines. Our group enjoyed Lebanese (the grape leaves were a hit), Ethiopian, Indian, and Basque. Great for a large group with easy seating and a fun atmosphere.

LOVE this place - AMAZING space!

By Fern |

This space is super impressive! Amazing space and I just love this concept of a gourmet food court! I ate here with my family and we all had something different and shared many dishes. We all agreed this was some of the best food we have had in awhile and the flavor profiles were outstanding! We can't wait to come back and try more delicious food!

Nice variety

By L H |

BitterSweet bakery raspberry danish excellent, cinnamon roll slightly bland with airy dough. Very dry & bland scone with hardly any fruit, excellent lemon bar. Keylime tart a bit bland, chocolate mousse cake excellent. Smokehouse mac & cheese is pretty good, but the mashed sweet potatoes are too sugary. There’s some decent Indian food here.

Chicago dining, the Cliff Notes version

By Culture Vulture 60657 |

At long last there is a food hall that actually serves good food! Not only that but the purveyors are some of the best known, most acclaimed chefs in Chicago. Some of the dishes on offer at the Time Out Market you will also find on their restaurants' menus (such as Dos Urban Cantina's chocolate cake which is sensational); others are specially created for this venue (such as Abe Conlon's Portuguese menu). And there is a huge variety from Chicago hot dogs to Portuguese soup, fried chicken sandwiches to seafood stew. And pastries and coffee, cocktails and beer. We sampled several dishes from Thai Dang's counter and were well pleased. We also scouted all the other stalls and noted ones we'll try on a future visit...and there will definitely be future visits. At this food hall, you order and pay at the station that is making your food, not at a central ordering kiosk. There are bussers who take your tray after you have finished and clean the tables. No overflowing trash receptacles in sight. On a weekday, the place was starting to get busy right about noon but there wasn't much of a wait and plenty of available seating. By 12:30, though, things had gotten much busier. One disappointment is that Arami, the 2nd floor sushi station, doesn't open until 5pm. The space is attractive with a huge skylight that makes it bright and airy and long wooden communal tables. There are high-top tables that have seats with backs and regular height tables with stools. There are even high chairs available for toddlers. We noticed a parking valet out front. A very classy operation, we thought.

Excellent food - great atmosphere!

By EEP |

We had 8 people - ages 9 to 55. We all loved our food from all different places! Great service - chatted with people all over and they were all so nice. Awesome atmosphere too!

A wide variety of restaurants

By Mike G |

We were looking for something simple so the cafe pastry shop on the left hand side of the first floor met our needs but there were lots of other choices. The communal dining area serves all the restaurants in this hip part of Chicago Fulton Market.

Many options

By LaurieR |

great food court options - healthier and high quality than your average mall food court for sure! And you can use outside seating to enjoy the people watching and sun!

Underwhelmed, disappointing

By VicMG |

I regularly visit Timeout Market in Lisbon (four times a year for the past few years) and have patronized the Chicago location about five times since it opened while comparing it to Lisbon’s. I’m very disappointed from the food selection to specialty drinks at the bars. I’m sorry, the food offerings aren’t very good and are overpriced. Abe Conlon’s Portuguese interpretation just doesn’t do it for me after extensively dining throughout Portugal; the natas have this white cream filling added to the custard whereby it is a highly inauthentic offering; the broccoli rabe added to the rice would likely remain untouched by locals in Portugal. The Split Rail chicken burger, Sugar Cube desserts, SECRET SOUND drinks are just okay. I’m sure many enjoy the food offerings (the pizzas seem popular) but I just find them uninspiring and lacking in flavor. The only plus is the weekday happy hour drink promotion. Ambience: lively, busy and noisy, but what I don’t understand are the number of people who loudly shout as they converse which is distracting to others having conversations. Would I return: maybe during warmer weather when the rooftop area is open so as to enjoy drinks and skyline.

Worst nye experience

By Sydney W |

The bar tender would not take my order. Stood at the bar for over 30 minutes. Only served one portion of the bar. The other bar tender was too busy kissing his girlfriend to serve anyone else either. Major waste of money for new years ticket when I only was able to get one single drink. 0/10. Will never return. Need more bar tenders.

Huge variety

By L H |

High-ceilinged upscale Food Court, with sweet and savory gourmet options from many local establishments. Great bartender.

Food glorious food!

By Hungryhorse80 |

Katsu sandwich was amazing as was the hotdog selection. We also enjoyed the amazing pastries. Bit expensive for a ‘market’ but still excellent.

Modern version of TO markets in portugal

By Steven Y |

Really enjoyed this modern version of a Time Out market you may see in Lisbon or perhaps Spain. 17 restaurants, 3 levels, bars. Fantastic choices in a trendy area. About $20 per person but you can order from multiple places and pick up when pages. We split appetizers and small orders from 3 restaurants. Huge, brightly lit high top bench seating in the middle court. Definitely worth checking out

Noisy, crowded and pricey!

By Kathryn J |

We decided not to eat here, so I can’t comment on the food. We did roam around the whole place. Obviously, it’s very popular as it was crowded with folks eating and drinking. The noise level was deafening and it was hard to hear a person standing right next to you. The difficulty hearing wasn’t helped by the loud music! I thought the prices were high, even for sophisticated food, i.e. two slices of pizza and a soft drink for $15. I doubt we’ll come back anytime soon. Just not our vibe. Maybe you have to be a twenty-something. The hotdog place food looked yummy, I have to say. Maybe that will entice me back sometime.

Disappointed 😞

By jllohrky |

Walked through - more of an expensive food court than a food destination - very disappointing. $7.99 for a piece!!! of deep dish pizza!! A place for sweets, tacos, sub, salad - yep, over priced food court. I went to TimeOut in Lisbon!! WOW!!! That’s an experience!! Variety!!! A you can have a little of this, a bite if that - so amazing! TimeOut Chicago - blah. Better places in Fulton Market to eat. I walked across the street to Gus’s Fried Chicken.

Perfect mix of local and international cuisine!

By RKchi |

Been to every food hall in Chicago and this destroys all of them. Where else can you find Italian beef, stuffed pizza, Chicago dogs, burgers, Mexican, Korean, Vietnamese, Portuguese, sushi, and local brews all under one roof? Time Out knocks it out of the park.

Another Wonderful Tine Out Food Hall

By Jiggy |

This Time Out Market is nowhere as large or encompassing as Lisbon, but it does still have some of the great highlights of Chicago crammed into one nice - 3 storey space. Consider it one of the best food courts in the city in an up & coming shopping district. Everyone can get something they enjoy and no one has to settle with the vendors. We did a brief walk around and checked out the offerings - you might not find deep dish pizza here, but you'll be pleasantly surprised with all of the other cuisine that makes Chicago 'Chicago'. Saturday afternoons in the winter is a good time to go if you don't like crowds and want a place to sit!

Awesome place!

By amyadamy |

We travel all over and this was one of the best, if not THEE best, food market/hall we've ever been to. Plenty of options that look like they must rotate around. Lots of open seating, and they offer a high chair for the lower tables. The best thing we had was grilled brussel sprouts--absolutely incredible. The grilled octopus was also worth celebrating. Nothing we had was bad, and we'd do it all over again. Noise level was moderate for a Saturday afternoon. We were able to talk comfortably, and our infant seemed unfazed by it. If you show up hungry, be prepared to drop some dollars. Things are quality, not cheap. Worth a trip! Oh, and we walked here from Mag Mile/River North. It's a fine walk (in nice weather) that took about 40 minutes--burning all the calories we consumed when we got there!

Something for everyone

By joekane80 |

There is a good amount of options at this market, truly something for everyone. The atmosphere seemed great and it wasnt too crowded. The upper floor was closed for a private party so we did not get to go up to the rooftop bar. Seems like a great place to get lunch or a drink after work.

Check your Receipts

By sayoni b |

This establishment's manager covers up behavior that is not acceptable. I found the ethics of the establishment undesirable. If you do not mind being overcharged then great, but I would advise all folks to ask for receipts. Otherwise you might end up paying for food items that you did not order and are not delivered too.

The Chicago Food Court

By tripecab |

We were eating here in November 2023. It is the classic Time Out with different food options. We had a tuna toast and a chicken sandwich from Everything Countz for $35

Pretty good

By 2BEis2SKI |

Presentation was great. Flavor profile was really good. The honey aioli was a nice touch. I was a little disappointed that the unagi and kani weren't more noticeable but all in all, a good roll. Definitely like Time Out Market.

Meh

By PenelopePitstop64 |

A great concept which this time didn’t deliver, we tried Korean, burgers, Greek and Ramen the winners of the day were definitely the Greek and Ramen. The Korean was disappointing the BBQ beef was a plate of mince with rice and no BBQ flavour at all and the Pork Dumplings were bland. The burger was more fillings than burger. The Greek & Ramen gave those of us who didn’t go there food envy.

John Manion - broccoli with pork belly

By Sefranker |

Excellent taste. Excellent service. Excellent staff. Cool place. The broccoli nicely cooked. Pork belly was super tender. Sauce outstanding Btw the purple pig was also great

Busy and loud, but enough options to accommodate all

By Becca |

Open space with a variety of restaurant choices. All a little pricer than the actual restaurant prices, but paying a premium for choice. Cool space to meet friends. The open/high ceiling causes it to be a bit loud, so not an intimate environment but can be fun.

A food court that spans 50,000 square feet

By Taylor B |

Browsing through a food court that covers three floors and spans 50,000 square feet and is home to 24 restaurants, eight bars, 12 retail shops, a cooking school and a high-end music venue is a smorgasbord of treats. Located at 916 West Fulton Market, between Peoria and Sangamon, in Chicago's bustling West Loop neighborhood, Time Out Market offers a variety of cuisines, including flavors from Ethiopia, Mexico, Asia, Italy and Germany. Open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 9 to 9 on Sunday, it offers such tantalizing items as hot chicken Bao buns, German-inspired egg and truffle cheeseburger, Korean BBQ beef fried rice, burgers, steaks, ramen, sushi, dumplings and cupcakes. Created in 2014, Time Out Market has emerged as a popular go-to destination for picky people looking for something new and unique. Start or end your day with cocktails at Tony's Rooftop Bar, the crown jewel of the venue. In between, visit Molly's Cupcakes, JoJo's Shake Bar, Stefani and Bottego Italia, Urbanbelly, Lil Amaru, Art Smith's Sporty Bird, Chocolates by JK, Vitasana, 2d Restaurant, Bar Goa, Bill Kim's Ramen Bar, Gutenburg, Qing Xiang Yuan or Madai.

Up scale food court.

By Livewire2014 |

Went there and a Saturday about mid afternoon. This place is fantastic. So much to see and eat. Food court downstairs and special food.booze and seating upstairs Tough to narrow down but the best item we had was the sprouts at Brian Fisher, I dont like sprouts buy this maybe the best food i have ever tasted. Thrill to see Billy Kim standing by his restaurant and we ordered the pork dumplings from there.Delicious. Had great fries at Duck Inn and desert at Pretty Cool. It is communal seating but had to problems getting a seat. Everyone was exceptionally nice Will be back to try more items. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. glutten free, vegetarian and lots of meat.

Blame it on Covid!

By GlobalExec |

No energy, nearly half the food vendors are gone and not the best environment for a festive evening. The Bill Kim location stole the show and everything we had from here was incredible!! In hind sight, we should have only ordered from this food stand. The balance of the 'slim offering' lacked innovation, was bland and over-priced. Perhaps we will give it another try after the virus is gone.

Wow! Just wow!

By Jewelsworld |

Impressive! We visited with a group of friends just two weeks after this location opened and we will definitely be back a lot! It was a quick train ride for us on the Green Line. We arrived at 11am for lunch which was a good decision because by the time we left, the place was full. We wandered around looking at all the different offerings from some of Chicago's top chefs and each of us made different choices and all of us were really happy with our selections. My personal fave was the Brussels sprouts from Brian Fisher. We were too full for dessert so we will just have to come back again and again and again.

Unfortunate Cooking Issue

By TracyS1014 |

This looks like a great place but because of a problem with the gas line during my visit the vendors were not able to cook. We were informed when we walked in and told this issue affected the entire block. I had a very good salad and a delicious dessert. I will have to schedule a return visit.

Must visit Fulton Market

By Angela V |

Very impressed with this great space which we visited with family from UK. We just had drinks but the food looked fabulous. Great place to go when your group don’t all like the same types of food. The vibe is young and hip but all can feel welcome.

Diverse Food Options, Non-existent Bar Service

By sunrisesunsetseekers |

Food options are very diverse and we would have loved to stay longer but you couldn’t get waited on at the bar. Literally ignored by two different bartenders while sitting at the bar! Also very odd that you had to sit at one of three separate bars, depending on what you wanted to order. The one area where we did order some food (dumplings) had a cashier that told us she didn’t really like the food so couldn’t help us make any decisions. Hmmm.

Time Out Market: Fulton Market gem for tourists and locals

By globalfinder312 |

There is something for everyone at Time Out Market -- including some top-end inspirations from award-winning chefs. From fried chicken to burgers and pizza, to Vietnamese, Portuguese, gourmet health food, and more -- like ice cream, pastries, and coffee. The quality is among the best, and the atmosphere makes this a great place to savor your food and friends while sipping a beverage from the bar. Order and pay first. Then pick up your food when the buzzer rings. There is very comfortable low- and high-top seating on two floors. While large and busy, and with music playing, the acoustics are surprisingly comfortable. We started with the basics. The fried chicken and tenders were very good -- crispy on the outside, tender on the inside -- and the honey mustard dipping sauce was the best ever. The pepperoni pizza from another vender was neither thin nor thick crust, had a bit too much cheese, and was a tad old. Next time I'll order the chicken sandwich from Brian Fisher. This is a family-friendly place as well as a place to work while eating (Google is just down the street). Easy to get to on public transport, valet too. Owned by the "Time Out" magazine folks, there are lots of free copies with reviews and recommendations to enjoy. As good for locals as it is for tourists. This is a welcome addition to the Chicago's must-see Fulton Market neighborhood.
