It's Doggy Dinner Theater!

By Laurie and Randy Furry |

Well, actually breakfast theater! We were in town on business. Our dog sitter was unavailable so our little Frenchie came along.Who knew we would find a spot where she could join us for breakfast! What a fun cafe with a warm, cozy indoor patio for dogs and their people! The breakfast was delicious! The biscuits were fantastic, wih a crispy bottom. The homemade raspberry jam? Oh yeah! The host was 5 star friendly, and the cute Portland neighborhood was great to explore while awaiting a text to announce that your table is ready! We must admit...had to try a donut down the street while waiting! Came home with some Tin Roof swag. We need the Tin Roof in Mount Shasta! Yum!

Breakfast for Locals and Visitors

By Alaskan_Viking |

First, I want to say "Worth the wait". No reservations--- enjoy the wait by taking in some of the sights near by. Breakfast here for the Vegan and the Carnivore (lol). Something for the whole family. It is a small place and the French Toast is a great start of the day. Parking is tight on the street. Ensure you have plenty of time and good humor. Coffee is good "start the day" (Northwest Style) blend. Bloody Mary was actually good. A nice surprise. Cost was reasonable. Worth the price. Our staff was great. Atmosphere was actually pleasant, everyone around us was happy and enjoying the day. This is a place that Locals need to take visiting family.

Amazing Artichoke Heart Sandwich

By Diana T |

Funky restaurant with amazing food, outdoor seating, friendly service and the very best artichoke heart sandwich I've ever had. Crisp, flavorful, fresh!

Great breakfast and fun atmosphere

By kathleeno106 |

So glad we took some reviewers advice and had breakfast here. Everything was perfect. Delicious coffee was provided while we waited. The restaurant is located in a really nice neighborhood. Perfect for a little walk afterwards. We will be back when we visit Portland again.

Pleasant surprise!

By Theresa N |

This was one of the recommendations our Airbnb host had shared w/us; also viewed via Trip Advisor; decided to give it a whirl and were pleasantly surprised! Cute little corner place - atmosphere, food, service, location, etc were all fantastic! We didn't have a dog but thought it was commendable that they were so accommodating to canine friends! You can make reservations or walk-in and both move quickly as was adequately staffed. Self serve coffee bar was a nice perk!

Delicious Breakfast

By Kolene T |

Made from scratch with love and roasted garlic! We had a wonderful breakfast on the patio with our son , daughter-in-law and their dog. This fun spot has delightful music and a walk up coffee/tea bar (inside) with picnic tables on the patio. I ordered the Stay over potato cakes with the rosemary gravy. The biscuits melt in your mouth!! My hubby ordered the Killingsworth over grits with the bacon gravy. Best breakfast ever!!

Breakfast Stop in Portland

By Eckho72 |

Had breakfast a few weeks ago when I was in Portland, with the family. I was back on a business trip, and came back. Good service and food, dog friendly. Definitely a place to stop

Best Breakfast we've had in a long time!

By SEAtoJHM |

The service and food were top notch! Had to wait about 20 minutes, but they have coffee available while you are waiting and everyone is very friendly! Got to know some "neighbors" and their dogs. Had the Good Dog and Everything Naughty. A ton of food but we managed to get around it all! Didn't really care for the Bloody Mary, but the Hawaiian Mimosa was very tasty!

Awesome place!

By HTS4461 |

This little place is awesome! The food was great! We had 3 different breakfasts and all were really tasteful and artfully served! They were able to accommodate my daughter who has celiac even! The service was quick and the people were super friendly! Will defiantly eat here again on my next visit to Portland!

Friendly staff and reasonably quick Take Out

By danoconnell81 |

Was able to order for a family of three and get a much more well rounded meal than we usually find. Will be back..

Worth the long wait.

By RUTexan |

My wife and I went for a late breakfast. We waited 45 minutes for a table. Most people on the restaurant were sitting at their tables long after their plates were cleared. The food was reasonably priced and abundant. Mixed egg dishes appear to be their forte. There was plenty of nearby parking on the street.

Darned Good Food!

By UrsAngel |

TIn Shed is The Ultimate Portland restaurant! VerY good food, and a mind of its own! The fun of it is that, in addition to their indoor area, they have a covered and sheltered terrace (with fireplace) where they serve dogs along with their people! There is a (short).doggie menu, and bowls of water are given to the dogs when they arrive at their table. Service is good and friendly, and there is something on the.menu for every taste. I recommend it for breakfast! To me, That's their starring role!

Great food in eclectic neighborhood place

By njpirate62 |

Tin Shed Garden Cafe is locates in NW Portland on Alberta. Great place for breakfast or lunch with all kinds of people eating there. Coffee and tea are self serve and the breakfast items are outstanding. The Benni (eggs Benedict with available smoked salmon) was superbly done. Cheese grits and potato cakes are great sides. My wife’s veggie pesto and eggs was great. This is a hidden gem and worth traveling to from downtown

Always excellent

By Ervin S |

Had been a while since eating at Tin Shed. It did not disappoint. Wife and I had the vegan Tim Curry and it was excellent. The potato cakes that come with it are so good. The curry mix has fresh spinach, loads of garlic and flavorful tufu cooked in a wondeful curry based sauce. Service was great, the host who sat us really has a sense of purpose, is super friendly and great at what they do.

Amazing Atmosphere

By alanglinais |

The food was delicious and the seating arrangements are perfect for a nice cool day. It is a bonus that they are dog friendly!

Long wait

By TouristInTuscany |

This restaurant has a hip (but not too hip) vibe in the fun Alberta Arts district. The food was good but not extraordinary. They allow vegetarian substitutions, e.g., fake breakfast meet. Our only complaint is the very long wait for a late weekday lunch - a long wait to get a table and then again to get food once seated. It appeared that there were open tables that were not being used.

Saturday brunch, it’s a Portland thing!

By Ken S |

We’d been told this was “the place” for our Saturday Brunch while in town. The “special” I had was loaded with eggs sausage peppers onions cheese and a chipotle aioli sauce which was all served over potato pancakes, which reminded me of latkes, topped off with a biscuit made somewhere in heaven. They have a raspberry jam on the table which turns the biscuit into dessert. I also had their special bacon Bloody Mary which was an amazing blend of tomato, bacon, garlic and vodka with a salt rim it was outstanding as well. Others in my party had the Challah French toast and the “fetch” stack, another tasty combo of eggs bacon tomatoes avocado cheese on the signature potato pancakes. This is a must visit place for brunch. There’s usually a wait due to the fantastic food but there’s also a great coffee shop next door (Case Study Coffee) to pass the tome with a custom mug of goodness. BTW. The wait is well worth it!!

Alberta Arts Breakfast

By kcsdelimom |

Our party of 2 couples enjoyed a delicious gluten free breakfast at the Tin Shed on a recent visit to Portland. The menu features traditional breakfast fare along with more creative offerings, and best of all for Ciliacs, plenty of gluten free substitutions. Hands down all 4 of us agreed the potato cakes and cheese grits were the best!

Just OK

By Clare W |

We came for brunch, which was OK, but nothing to write home about. We gave our names to the host to put on the electronic wait list but when we returned about 20 minutes later they'd not ended up in the system for some reason (it happens), so we ended up getting seated at the bar. The smoked salmon in the salmon benedict was cooked and flaked which gave the combo a very odd texture and flavour, and the food took quite a while to arrive. Staff were perfectly pleasant and prices seemed to be average for the area but the hype was a mystery to us.

Ginger No'jito

By Julie B |

I arrived early afternoon on a Saturday and was able to get in right away. Friendly and helpful staff. I had the Salmon & Spice which was good, although the spice kind of overwhelmed the salmon. The best part was the Ginger No'jito - delicious!

tasty meatloaf sandwich

By reno1024 |

noisy and crowded. funky atmosphere. air conditioning was laboring to keep the place cool in extremely hot weather.

Expensive, but delicious

By taylorengels |

The food here was great! There was a long wait but we were met with yummy food in the end. If you can afford to spend a bit more for brunch then this is where to go.

Five stars for the Tin Shed. Zero stars for entitled antisocial dog owners aka the “bark brigade”

By AJ C |

I sometimes shake my head in disbelief and wonder how excellent restaurants like this one manage to keep serving and keep smiling when I read reviews (like the one from the entitled idiots who unilaterally decide that their annoying barking dog is more important than the comfort of others. (in the review above this one.) This restaurant provides a beautiful environment, excellent food (it has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best places to brunch or lunch in North portland. And yet there are still people who are moronic enough to leave punitive one star review blaming the restaurant for their own anti-social behaviour My hat is off to the wonderfully diplomatic staff who protected the rest of the diners from this badly behaved stupid woman who mistook this wonderful eatery for a dog park. The kindness with which the staff mitigated the disturbance these clods were selfishly causing the entire group of other diners was truly exceptional…they were more than kind to people who deserved nothing but a stern word and swift dispatch. Tldr the Tin Shed is awesome. Great food; fantastic staff.

Great breakfast

By JLandMike |

We were staying just down the street and popped in for breakfast due to the great reviews. We were seated quickly and the self serve coffee allowed us to get a very quick caffeine fix before settling in for food. We ordered the everything naughty and the bacon avocado Benny. Both were delicious. I tried the rosemary mushroom gravy on my biscuit and was not disappointed. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant is also dog friendly which is just so fun. We would not hesitate to return. Solid choice.

Wait was worth it!

By Larry K |

We arrived at 9:30 on a Friday morning to find a 20 minute wait. They served coffee while we waited. The breakfast was excellent, best in Portland

Great variety of breakfast choices and dog friendly!

By David_never_Dave |

As it was our first visit, it took some time to decide what to order this time and what to save for subsequent visits. More tasty-sounding choices than most breakfast places. And we liked that there were so many dogs on the patio!

Food and Service You’ll love

By Dave D |

The casual ambiance is only surpassed by the friendly service and delicious offerings. Breakfast items are innovative and plentiful. Luncheon menu is also superb. My favorite was the bread pudding, topped off with vegan coconut ice cream. Everything is fresh and locally produced. Ask for a waiter named Eric (with a C.)

nice ambiance & very dog friendly . . .food was ok

By Mark T |

I really wanted to love this place more. Great ambiance for family, couples and pet owners. Very dog-friendly. varied food menu. Limited wine selections. uninspiring desert selections.

Great service, atmosphere and food

By L0nster |

Despite covid-19 restrictions, they seated us quickly (no reservations), served us promptly and checked in on us frequently, were very friendly, and the food was top notch.

Good breakfasts but don't be in a rush.

By jgbtravels |

If you are in a hurry then you may want to go somewhere else. However, if you go remember to sign in as there are no reservations. They are very laid back and friendly here. Once you sign in you are free to grab a cup of coffee while you wait for a table. We were told it would be 25-30 minutes to wait for a table but it was actually more. Nevertheless, the food and ambience was great. I had the Goat Boy-scrambled eggs with goat cheese, biscuit, and wonderful potato pancakes. My wife had the French Toast I believe with bacon and those killer potato pancakes. For what it is worth my wife liked mine better although hers was good. There is paid street parking directly across the street(1 hour limit) but free parking a block down the street. Good thing since we were there more than an hour.

open for take out during covid 19 now

during covid 19, the tin shed opened yesterday for take out ..we did lunch...we ordered the wild salmon spice sandwich with a salad and split it...it was so delicious.....a horn player was seen playing beautiful music in the garden, then underneath in front of the fireplace while i walked over masked to pick up the food...be sure to tip big, as they have been closed all this time...the staff is always friendly, and the owner came up too...i thinked her for being open and hopefully after june 12th when we possibly enter phase one, it will open to limited physical distancing....thx so much!

fun and excellent

By Teresa M |

we wanted to return to tin shed on a wkday for lunch, and sit indoors...we hadn't eaten indoors for two yrs there...we masked up and got right in....i had the pilsner, and my partner had the mojito....i had the blackened salmon sandwich with the caesar salad, and she had the veggie scramble with potato latkes and a bisquit....it was so relaxing and fun....they have been there for over 20yrs....excellent food/drink too..be sure to tip big during these challenging times...thx so much

#1 for breakfast and they earn it!

By Tina C |

Fun, funky, friendly, fabulous food! “Brian” recognized my friends who are frequent patrons. Eggs Benedict were fantastic, made with real Hollandaise. Dog friendly, too! No reservations, the wait was worth it.

Yummy food!

By Kim M |

Being that we had flown in from East Coast, we were hungry early and wandered in during "happy hour" which included menu offerings not just beverages! Everything seemed fresh and homemade! The Biscuit Board was something we ordered after we ordered and were envious of other diners with it. Not to be missed. The soup of the day was delish, as was the salad, the burger, the mac-n-cheese of the day! I could have eaten all of my meals here while we were in town! They even have a menu for dogs!

North Vietnam trip

By Mike |

We had an exceptional experience with Vietnam Travel- Ms Lea Nguyen, who organized every detail seamlessly, from the itinerary to the accommodations. The 5-star hotels they booked were top-notch, and we were delighted to receive free upgrades at multiple locations! The food, the service, local guides and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for a stress-free, luxurious vacation.

Old Familiar Standby...

By Turtles_Dragonflies |

Anytime I find myself in Portland in the morning... Virtually always hit the Tin Shed. Unless you get there early - - expect to wait. Even so - - expect to wait for your food to arrive. This time I had the "Fetch". Bacon, eggs, avocado, tomatoes with a helping of cheese over potato cakes. Portion perfect. Hits the spot... Baffled at myself not having toot toot the Tin Shed all these years. Hopefully I'm redeemed.

Best breakfast of the entire trip!

By Chris W |

I ordered the Everything Naughty. Not a single thing on the plate could have been better. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The biscuits and gravy were melt in your mouth delicious. Tried someone's Cheesy grits and they were some of the best I've ever had. Check this pLace out if you're in the area!

Date night with rockin’ veg cuisine

By April |

As someone who prides herself on vegetarian cuisine, Tin Shed was full of delicious veg surprises! The Lazarus appetizer is a stuffed quesadilla with black beans, sweet potatoes, raspberry jam (you read correctly) and spices. It will change your life—as will the quinoa burger, the Mac-n-cheese, great beer selection and quaint ambiance with a fireplace!! Great for kids, adults, anyone! Oh and they have meat too, but who cares!

Breakfast

By Steve Teresa H |

Food was excellent. Service on point. Fun place to relax and enjoy breakfast. A little chilly sitting outside. They would be wise to invest in a couple of patio heaters. Special was tasty and hearty. Sweet potatoes, sausage, eggs onions and garlic all scrambled together over potatoe cakes. Eggs Benedict or Beni Hill was awesome

People and Dog Friendly!

By Barbara W |

The Sunday brunch is really fun! The dog thing on the patio is lots of fun. Good people food too. From Vegan to bacon.

Glad we had reservations!

By sharrongeg |

This place is awesome! Had brunch here with our son-in-law and wow - it was just great. Sat outside in the patio area under an umbrella. Self service water and coffee ($4). Tried 3 different brunch entrees and everything was delicious. Brunch options ranged in price from $15 to $20. Worth every penny. Highly recommend - but make reservations !

Dog friendly

By Madeline Cook |

This place has great energy, food and service. They also have an indoor patio area if you’d like to bring your furry friend and of course they have doggie items on the menu!

A place for me and my Bff

By Pamela O |

Food was great, love that I can take my pup and get her something too. Service was wonderful, they love their furry patrons as well. Good times with friend both human and furry❣️

Service fast and friendly!

By Alan K |

My wife and I both loved our breakfast so we switched plates halfway through. Eggs benny for her and breakfast hash for me. Oh so good and filling. My only quibble was that the coffee was average.

Best meal we had in Portland

By Tigerjean |

We were a group of 3 families traveling together with 7 adults and 6 teenagers. We stayed in the house directly across the street, a perfect location by the way. We only had 4 nights in Portland, and this was my favorite place. We were taking day trips several days, so we weren't back at our house in time for dinner sometimes. Other times, we thought we wanted to try new places. But I could have eaten at Tin Shed every night, and regretted not doing so.

Excellent comfort food

By LBBalHarbour |

Try this if you’re in the area, laid back, excellent food and drinks. I had the meatloaf, big enough to share.

Grits taste like the south

By Suzanne H |

Went to Tin Shed for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised...the grits tasted just like I was home in Georgia! The biscuits with bacon gravy were the best I’ve ever had. The service was wonderful. Definitely recommend eating at Tin Shed.

Banner Day for food and service @ Tin Shed

By altrenary3 |

Hospitality and quality of food were excellent. We ordered the chicken breast, biscuits, cheese grits, and greens. From a person who grills chicken regularly, the chicken was moist. It was as if a preferred marinade was used, yet without the flavors of marinades. Also, from a person from the south, Florida, where cheese grits are popular, the grits were superb. The consistency was excellent. Topping off the meal, Tin Shed is known for the biscuits. This was the 2nd day we enjoyed them. The “icing on the cake” was the hostess, Mack, remembering our name.

A favorite of young and old (and their dogs!)

By Gary B |

The Tin Shed is a breakfast favorite of ours and also of our daughters who live in Portland. Big servings of many breakfast dishes, scrambles, burritos, buttermilk biscuits, oh my! Each more delicious than the last! A really fun atmosphere as you get your own coffee while you await your turn to be seated (along with your dog, if you have one.) Staff is friendly, and there is lots of seating, including a large patio. Give this one a try, for sure!

Really Bad Food

By Serenity Q |

So I'm from the UK and I was on a trip to Portland with some friends and we stopped here for brunch. One friend got the 'Everything Naughty' and, despite being regular fan of mushroom gravy, found this one to be sweet and had a mucus-like texture. One of our party was a vegan, and we were excited to find that the menu catered to her requirements. She ordered the Spike burrito, veganised, which removed the sour cream - the only ingredient that added a cooling taste to this inferno of a burrito. I don't know how she powered through as much as she did. I, myself, ordered the big hit burrito, and found it essentially inedible. Before I even picked it up it was dripping with oil from the pesto. The sweet potato was undercooked and it contained whole cloves of roasted garlic that made the whole thing essentially inedible. The one positive thing I can say is the potato cakes were pretty good. On the whole, it was a disappointing experience and despite the waitress noticing that I had left my entire burrito practically untouched, didn't ask or attempt to ascertain the reason why I had wasted so much food, and didn't even attempt to intuit that there might be a problem. For having such high reviews, I'm extremely disappointed.

perfect big breakfast

By jack w |

intimate, dog friendly. the special scrambled eggs with veggies, Canadian bacon, cheese grits and potato cake was wonderful and so filling that it calls for a mid-morning nap. service was perfect and not rushed. later this morning people will line lineup to get a table. thanks.

Brilliant!

By youngtravellers99 |

Brilliant food, setting and staff. Baby Beluga and Fungus Amungus were superb. Wish we lived closer! Can’t wait to return. So good. Pet friendly too.

Go for a Late Lunch on a week day

By Good_Food_Lover77 |

Every time we asked a local where we should go to for pancakes on a weekend, we were told to go to this inside / outside place. We walked and walked and finally found it, but there was such a long waiting line we went somewhere else that day. Good thing I want back with a friend for a late lunch on a weekday thus there was little to no waiting for an outdoor table in their nice courtyard. Enjoyed the "build your own" veggie burger with bacon and avocado added which turned out to be SUPER fresh and very good, but a bit messy. The very thinly sliced cold slaw on the side was interesting. Our waiter was also nice and helpful. So glad we timed our lunch date so well.

Foodie delight (and responsibly sourced)

By journeyingjess |

Holy cow is this place good! As a traveler, I relish in good foods iconic to their neighborhoods. Atmosphere, service, food, and dog friendly too. Some of their dishes are even named after dog commands! I tried the Big Hit Burrito and was in foodie heaven - highly recommend! Everything here is responsibly sourced and it just feels good to know what you're eating comes from a good place.

Worth the wait

By BooBuskano |

Like other reviewers, we had to wait but it was worth it. We went on a Saturday at around 1:00. We waited 45 minutes but we wandered Alberta Street and waited for our text letting us know our table was ready. The food is great. Home made biscuits, bennys with plenty of hollandaise, delicious gravies, and pint sized mimosas and Bloody Marys. Lots of vegetarian options too. But the real treat was seeing everyone bring their dogs. We were surprised at how well behaved they all were. Definitely a must for anyone on vacation missing their puppies.

Came on an off night

By hockeyaw19 |

Visited this place on a Friday evening. There was about a 40 minute wait, but all there were several tables open including the entire outdoor seating area. There seemed to be some back up in the kitchen. The service was good as the hostess brought blankets and hot water with lemon to patrons as the night was colder then expected. I had the biscuits and a taco. The biscuit was fine - but certainly nothing special and the taco was also fine. My wife had the fungus amongus which is sliced up portabellas, onions aioli and avocados. There were so many onions that it was a bit overwhelming. There was also tons of moisture either from the shrooms or the aioli that caused the toasted bread to get soggy. I think we'll pass on the tin shed next time.

excellent and fun

By Teresa M |

we returned to tin shed for lunch, and we each began with a pbr in the garden...next, we shared the salmon on whole wheat with coleslaw, and she had the fungus among us on whole wheat with slaw....we don't recall seeing the salmon before, so what a bonus...all was delicious..the staff is very friendly, funny, and quick....thx so much

Not what it used to be.

By EriBear J |

I'm a type of person who enjoys buying side dishes for breakfast ie: bacon, toast and fruit salad. I used to be ok with waiting an hour or more to be seated because I was always more than happy with the results. Over the past yr or so I've been extremely let down. Having my toast come out cold and extremely dry, my bacon often coming out burnt and cold as well (even when asked for chewy) and the fruit salad just looking pathetic. I hope they get the quality back up but I will no longer be going there.

awesome

By tattoo97045 |

Tried this place for brunch and had a heck of a time chosing just one thing off menu! My meal waS outstanding!

Outstanding Biscuits

By Brian H |

Biscuits and jam are worth the stop. We had heard that this little joint had a funky atmosphere, so we decided to give it a go. The lunch menu had a few good sandwiches, the choices were not the same old mundane stuffings between two slices of bread. We enjoyed the "fungus among us" - a great mushroom offering and the 'heartless artichoke", which as it is named has marinated artichokes at the heart of sandwich. But the highlight were the biscuits and jam.

It’s the best breakfast I ever had.

By blackfootcamp |

We were scrolling through our I-Pad looking for places to have breakfast when my wife came across the name of this restaurant, The Tin Shed. She looked at me and said.........wasn’t this place just on television as one of the 10 best restaurants in Portland? I don’t remember answering her but I do remember a long conversation about where the heck are we going to park as we kept circling the block. What an incredible experience this restaurant turned out to be. It’s starts with...you won’t have a table for 25 or 30 minutes so grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit on one of our benches we provide outside the restaurant, or take a stroll around the neighborhood and we will text you when your table is ready. In that 1/2 hour we were waiting, we met some wonderful people and exchanged travel stories and even got some new ideas of where to go next. Once inside the restaurant, you can describe the decor as more than eclectic. It is just busy, bee busy, ant hill busy, BUSY. It’s loud, it’s boisterous, it’s inviting and it’s engaging. We loved it. We ordered the “today special” which was scrambled eggs with bell peppers, garlic, onion, artichoke hearts, and what appeared to be pasta. It came with a side cheddar grits and a biscuit to die for. The first taste of the scrambled egg combination had the distinct taste of vinegar. I think it was from the artichoke hearts. But wherever it was from, it actually worked. The cheddar cheese grits were unbelievable and I can’t correctly describe the “ biscuit” it was sooo good. I don’t really care what else you do in Portland , if you don’t take time out to visit this place, you have not had one of the best experiences in the city. It’s more than a meal. It’s an adventure.

Great breakfast spot!

By escher_fan |

Recently visited with my wife and small child. It was a great choice, as witnessed by the line out front as we left. The dishes we ordered were all great, even had grits for the first time! The ambiance of the place was great, loved having dogs allowed on the patio. It helped keep my daughter entertained though the meal. Also loved the self serve coffee bar!

Crazy Good

By Micktravels |

This place was super good. I had the zucchini bread French Toast & Potato Cake & my guy had the breakfast burrito. The food is really tasty. It is simple food done right. Their homemade salsa is also wow dot com. We went on a Sunday early AM and somehow managed to get seated right away which influenced my review. I have heard of others waiting an hour or so... Enjoy.

Good Lunch

By bigfinklefan |

Our family of 4 enjoyed lunch here. My wife, in particular, loved the jam they used & asked afterward where we could find it. Good place for a meal with kids. Nice variety. Very friendly staff. Cozy ambiance. Salmon burger was tasty.

You’ll compare every breakfast to this…

By Maria C |

Seriously one of the top breakfast experiences of my life. Portland is my home away from home for the past decade and I can say that Tin Shed is crazy consistent. Whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this.

Great food

By tleeEvans |

Got lunch one day and throughly enjoyed it. Got the salad which was very fresh and very good size. My husband got the hamburger which he really enjoyed. Dining the pandemic they are taking seating reservations and doing take out. Food is great and highly recommend

Worth the wait

By Barb H |

We knew we were in for a wait at this wonderful spot. Just wish one of us had been dropped off to wait while the other went on to the airport to pick up our guests. The food was fresh and delicious and also plentiful. A couple of us had the Benny Hill and the other two had the special of the day. Will certainly go back again when we are in the area

Awesome for humans AND dogs!

By susanfromseattle |

This was our first experience taking our dog to a restaurant and it could not have been any better! The staff was energetic, friendly, warm, and responsive to our questions and requests and the food was absolutely amazing. We were visiting with a friend who is a classically trained French chef and HE loved it too! All four of us ordered something different and we all were completely blown away by how delicious it was including the drinks, Strawberry Fields Forever (gin, strawberry puree, lime, YUM) The whole vibe was relaxed and upbeat thanks to all the well-behaved doggos and their kind and friendly humans.

Amazing Breakfast!

By Lacey B |

My husband and I visited Tin Shed for the first time and had an amazing breakfast. The food is definitely worth the wait!

Wow!

By Iris H |

We decided to have breakfast in Portland en route to the coast. Chose Tin Shed based on reviews though I admit we were a bit skeptical that it was hype not substance. We we were wrong! This truly may have been the best breakfast we ever ate! I enjoyed a delicious egg scramble with sun dried tomato, spinach, portobello and goat cheese accompanied by one of the best biscuits I’ve ever had. My husband proclaimed the grits with his big breakfast combo were the best he ever tasted. Cool relaxed vibe, excellent service and top notch coffee gave us a reason to add to the accolades. Tin Shed is most deserving. Do not miss if you are in Portland.

Oh my! So worth the experience.

Oh my! So worth the experience. Casual setting, great food, amazing service. A must go if in the area and if not still go!

Mishandled

By MyReview4Yew |

I preface this by saying I’m from out of town. My friend and I spent the morning hiking and checking out the Columbia River Gorge. We brought her dog with us and planned on eating at this restaurant. Her dog was a little excited and let out a few barks. It was contained and sporadic. I noticed a patron glancing at the table in disgust. We weren’t at the restaurant more than 10 minutes, and our food had not arrived. She approached our table and stated, “I know it’s convenient to bring your dog places, but every time she barks, I jump. Is there anything you can do, like go inside” My friend explained that dogs were not allowed inside, so the patron then firmly stated we needed to find a solution. Aka, leave. My friend started crying and left after being humiliated in such a way. (Honestly the dog barked maybe 5 times in 10 minutes). The restaurant boxed our food up, and stated “Don’t worry. We’re taking good care of you.” I received my bill for $40, of which I tipped the customary 20% ($8.) However, upon further reflection, I feel the restaurant completely mishandled the situation. The other patrons were not addressed. The restaurant didn’t even try to ask the ladies if they would move inside. And I was billed the full price..... I told the server, despite the $8 tip, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.... no one should be humiliated in such a way, and if these situations do arise, the restaurant shouldn’t say they’re “taking care of you” and yet do nothing except let you leave when you had a right to be there.

Excellent coffee!

By imoise |

It’s truly a breakfast and lunch place. The terrace is very pleasant. For coffee, you pay once and you can refill it all day if you want 😁

Media Hype is On Point

By 888travelert |

This place prides itself on national media hype - famous for a stop by Guy Fieri from the Food Network. That two thumbs up aside, this place was a perfect match for a Mother's Day meal. Eggs Benedict crab cakes with a side of hash browns filled the tummy and the satisfaction level. Wait staffers were engaged and friendly. This place has such a fun vibe I would definitely return.

Late lunch

By pimsani W |

Came here around 2 pm on Sunday and had to wait for table around 20-30 mins. Finally got table at the patio. Ordered 2 plates: Good dog and Everything nice. I like both plates. Good dogs mixed with all proteins and hint of the spice from jalapeño, we order a side of biscuit as well. I would recommend you get a biscuit and eat with homemade raspberry jam For everything nice, I love French toast the most! Overall good foods and good price!

Great brunch

By unhappypatr0n |

Stopped by on our way into Portland b4 checking into our accommodations. All 6 of us were famished and truly enjoyed our meal. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Great relaxing spot and dogs are welcome!

Absolutely delicious

By Annaconda007 |

We love this place! People are so kind and nice here and the food....soooo delicious!!! Coconut rice is amazing! We can't get enough! My children are in love with it. And we like to see the cute dog guests also! So no matter how cold or warm is the weather we love this place!

Over rated

After reading all the reviews. We were looking forward to our experience. Went mid week, mid day, still waited over 45 mins to be seated, as many tables sat unoccupied. Staff was not overly friendly or attentive. The food was good, their menu had many choices that also look delicious. However, will not be a repeat customer, was not worth the time since there are so many other great options for breakfast.

Good solid breakfast foods. Different styles of Benedicts are great choices.

By msfetch |

No reservations, so there is usually a wait. The nice thing is that you can help yourself to coffee or tea while you wait. And, there are fun mugs to use. Find one to suit you. We had a big group and they were great at accommodating all of us. The food was delicious.

Very good gluten free restaurant

By Tom T |

We have a celiacs in the family so gluten-free is important to us. After doing some homework this restaurant came to the top of the list. We went there for breakfast although one of the members of the family did purchase a burger. Breakfast was awesome on all fronts lots of options very safe staff. It. Burger was okay. very small restaurant tight seating in about an hour wait so plan ahead. Was it worth the hour yes enjoy. Only downside no gluten-free waffles. However the toast was cooked in a separate area and they were very respectful to cross-contamination.

This place is almost always busy. The menu looks inciting, but the food tastes just ok. Definitely not worth the wait in my book. Dog menu available for when you bring your pooch with you. Patio has a nice big fireplace.

Best Biscuits and Great Smoked Salmon

By Steve K |

This is a great place for breakfast. The biscuits are the best, with a slight sourdough flavor from real buttermilk. And the smoked salmon is really delicious, either in scrambled eggs or in eggs benedict. Highly recommended!

This place knows breakfast

By Dan H |

We didn’t even mind waiting for a table with the excellent coffee you could grab. They make it the best meal of the day.

Great breakfast

By mellonhead2014 |

Service was great and breakfast was fantastic. Love all the dogs with their owners.🐶 Coffee was self serve which was great especially if waiting.

Consistently good! Great service.

By mom084 |

Every time that I've been here, either for brunch or happy hr, the food and drinks have been yummy. All the staff were friendly, I never had to wait more than 5 min and several waiters would check made sure I was happy with my meal. I feel like this kind of service is generally rare now adays dining around Portland. Also, appreciate the bartender who chased me out the door to return my vintage pin that broke off my denim jacket, which I hadn't noticed. Will keep coming back!

Best Brunch in Portland

By Beth D |

My friend and I love Portland. While I’m out last visit we decided to try the Tin Shed. It was lunchtime, but the breakfast choices were so good, we opted for brunch instead. Both our dishes came with the cheese grits. The thing was, the potatoes sounded good too. Our waited said he could do half and half plus a homemade biscuit. These were served with our egg dishes. Large portions allowed me to make two meals out of one! I highly recommend recommend the Tin Shed.

Great little place

By Andrea T |

It gets crowded and the wait is long but it’s a great brunch place !!! I love the choices and had variety for everyone’s liking. Self serve coffee and pet friendly. Loved it

Great Dinner!

By K C |

My family and I went here with our pup and sat out on the patio. They had great food especially for those of us with food allergies! They also sell adorable, colorful bandanas that we bought for our dog! We will definitely return to the Tin Shed!

Lovely place with delicious food

By Talya A |

Lovely place with delicious food and awesome service. They allow dogs here , and all the servers are friendly to your puppers :)

Great food & great service!!

By R11nah |

On our first day to Portland, we tried Tin Shed. My friends and I flew in early that morning and was looking forward to mimosas and brunch. This place did not disappoint!! We had coffee while we had a short wait for our table. I ordered a passion fruit mimosa and was surprised it was served in a pint glass. It was huge! The biscuit that came with the meal was so delicious with the jam! All of our breakfast meals did not disappoint. We sat outside and service was great!

Lovely funk

By johnStaBarbara |

We always come here when visiting the area. Excellent food in a funky countryside setting. It's quintessential Portland and not to be missed.

REALLY GOOD BREAKFAST

By surfotog |

Ate breakfast 7 AM on a rainy weekday. First people at the door. Had outstanding food sitting in front of the fireplace. Another time ate later after only a short wait. Easy to get to. There is a bus stop 1 block + away. We’ll return.

Room for improvement

By Larry R |

I would have given it 3.5 stars. Here is my take: Coffee. Good no after taste Jam Very Good despite looking weak Chicken Sausage. Good, though not something I look forward to having again. Eggs. A bit rubbery, compared to Milo's or Jakes which I had just last week, (Cook in butter?) Biscuit. Dry, heavy but the jam saved them Potato Cakes. Awful, tasted like full of sour cream they were so soggy The scrambles looked interesting, but they all had too many strange ingredients for a picky eater to try. If you live nearby, probably worth going back to find what they do well. Biscuits? Probably cheaper than bread, or feeding a toaster, otherwise why no choice?

Great food and service

By JSA-Seattle |

Wonderful spot for brunch. Noted it was my daughter's birthday when making the reservation, and the staff went out of it's way to wish her a happy birthday, and brought a biscuit with a candle to her. Very nice touch. Food was outstanding. Our table had one Farro Sanders, two Fetch's, one Everything Naughty and a side of raspberry jammers. Everything was well cooked and super tasty. Nice sized portions. We sat outside in the garden area, which had nice tables with umbrellas to shade is from the sun. Overall, a really nice dining experience. Will definitely return.

Amazing Food & Dog Friendly!

By jbnoel87 |

I found this place on BringFido.com and the reviews were mixed but we were not disappointed! They were dog friendly which was great. The food was amazing - the heartless artichoke sandwich was so good I could've cried. The zucchini fritters and daily mac and cheese that came with my husband's meatloaf were also to die for. Servings are huge so bring your appetite!

Worth a trip

By mme8771 |

The food was good and the menu was varied. Everyone in my group of picky eaters could find something for themselves. There was a 30 minute wait for dinner on a Tuesday night. However there were several empty tables. It seemed like they weren't well-staffed so the wait was in place not to overseat. It was great fun seeing all of the dogs at dinner, especially when they got to "order" off the doggy menu.

Filling Brunch

By Rebecca Y |

I was in town for a conference so I decided to check out the brunch. I didn't even have to wait in line and sat at the bar. I ordered the "Everything Nice" and boy, was it! Just delicious! I had the gluten-free challah French toast, and my own little pitcher of real maple syrup! Everything Nice Potato cake with sour cream and green onion, scrambled eggs, sweet potato brioche french toast with fruit compote and your choice of apple wood smoked bacon, pork sausage, veggie or vegan sausage, served with pure maple syrup. The coffee, an endless supply of help-yourself, was rich and flavorful. The bus stop is on the next corner, so it's an easy access.

Not health food but delicious

By zephyr64 |

Get dark rich coffee in a ceramic mug inside while you wait. Long wait.. all of our food was excellent. For breakfast I usually choose fresh fruits and vegetables... low fat... NONE of that here. Shocking amount of fat and oil.

Worth the wait!

By terry424 |

Six family members gathering for brunch decided on the Tin Shed for our reunion in Portland in the Alberta neighborhood. We had heard that this is a good spot for a Sunday brunch, and to expect a healthy wait. These expectations were met as our wait time was a bit over an hour, but the food was amazing. While we waited outside, the time went fast due to free coffee from the cafe and very interesting conversation with others also waiting. Our server was a hoot while assisting in our ordering of items such as "everything naughty", or the special of egg and vegetable scramble topped with Brie. The accompanying home made buttermilk biscuits melted in your mouth, while the biscuits and gravy was simply delicious. The family had a classic Portland culinary experience in a unique building with an ambiance that is also one of a kind. Also, pets are very welcome.

Sweet spot!

By STUFFEDOLIVE37 |

Such a great local eatery with charm and a little outdoor courtyard that’s also dog friendly! Gotta love it. Self serve coffee and tea, a friendly staff. Breakfast was delectable!! Eggs cooked perfectly, delicious potato latke, cheesy grits, crisp bacon, and a biscuit to die for! Wish I were here in town to try lunch, but my suspicions are it’s just as good!

A fun place without any pretention.

By Mark P |

We sat in the porch area, which was covered and heated. The mac & cheese was insanely good. The pot pie was average. Service and atmosphere were both good. There were several well-behaved dogs, as it is a dog-friendly place. It was a very nice experience.

Amazing breakfast, kitschy atmosphere and vibes - love it!

By John L |

Incredible breakfast, chill, kitschy atmosphere, has a healthy, green, airy, be yourself, bring your dogs vibe to it (even has a pup menu and doggie water bowls). Thought it especially cool with the hot tea table where you pick out and pour your own on the honor system, just adds to the coolness - talk about efficient, gives it that sorta 'hey, we're all on this planet together, make yourself at home' vibe. I got simple eggs, potatoes, and bacon, and just loved my meal (best biscuit ever!). Wifey got the gluten free french toast breakfast and reported it was equally awesome! If only they were here in Raleigh! :)

Cool place, great food!

By Mike M |

Delicious food, great service, cool dogs. We had the Veggie Burger and the Tim Curry and they were both fantastic! recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Delicious Food and Dogs Welcome

By Dyanne2014 |

The Tin Shed is a delightful place to have dinner. The food is locally grown and delicious, the service is good, and dogs are allowed on the patio area.

Great menu and wonderful food!

By Montanalu |

This is a fun old pub that just appears on a busy residential street. The food is authentically good pub food. I had the lamb burger and it was outstanding!

Just an off night

By Anita W |

We just wanted a do-over at Tin Shed Cafe. Great vibe and dog-friendly patio. They were busy, but not slammed. Service was slow--blamed on small kitchen. Took too long to take our order, then waay too long to be served--blamed on large party in front of us. The food was awesome--piping hot, interesting, and flavorful. Ordinary-sounding dishes were prepared in extraordinary ways. Management acknowledged the issues of the evening, so we'd definitely recommend this restaurant and, if we lived in the area, would return.

Anticipation...

By Mary H |

Yes, you wait...and wait...and salivate, anticipating the yummy food to come. And if you're clever you'll order biscuits for the table with their delicious jam. Come early, come hungry, Wear weather appropriate clothing and enjoy the whole scene. Worth it? Absolutely!

Unique

By Glen M |

Our local hosts encouraged us to try out the Tin Shed. We hit it at about 1 pm on a Monday and had an hour wait to get in. We took advantage of the time and wandered the local shops. They texted us when our table was ready. We recognize that Portland is a pet friendly city, but we were a little unprepared to have 14 dogs in the restaurant with us. They were all well behaved and the place even has a dog menu, but it was still a surprise. The food was very good. Portions could have been a little larger, but were adequate. We tried the "Big Hit Burrito, $14, which was stuffed with scrambled eggs, mushroom, seasonal greens, onion, roasted sweet potato, roasted garlic, basil pesto, and cream cheese, wrapped in a grilled our tortilla, and a side of potato cakes. We had them hold the pork sausage. Also the "Everything Nice" $16, pullman loaf french toast, potato cake with sour cream and green onion, scrambled eggs, and chicken-apple sausage and fresh fruit. Also the "Tim Curry" $14 with roasted sweet potato, seasonal greens, broccoli, mushroom, onion, roasted garlic, and organic tofu in a yellow curry sauce topped with avocado, raisins, and peanuts, and served with potato cakes. I had the special, scrambled eggs, vegetarian sausage, mushrooms and peppers over cheesy grits, with a side biscuit. It was outstanding. Service was good at the beginning, but slow near the end.

Unique Space Delicious Food

By kcmason |

Came here for breakfast and was amazed. Had the special with eggs, goat cheese, andouille sausage, and peppers. All this deliciousness on top of a grit cake. Wow! We also shared the strawberry shortcake biscuit with fresh Oregon strawberries and a light mint syrup sauce. Coffee is self service and like all things Oregon the "regular" coffee is wonderful. Open air atmosphere with inside and outside seating options. Cute neighborhood with lots of locals eating here.

Wow. Just wow

By Go228692 |

That is all I have to say. I didn't imagine it be quite as good as it was, I have never just sat there in awe of how good the food was. I can absolutely see why this place was visited by food network. (And they have a DOGGIE MENU! how cute!)

Great food, comfortable space.

By Tamara S |

Enjoyed taking my son and his dog for brunch. The menu is mouthwatering making it difficult to make a choice. Something for everyone; vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian or meat eater. Plus choices for dogs! We were all happy with our meals.

Brunch Time!

By Elizabeth R |

Stayed in the Alberta district in an Airbnb and discovered there weren't many restaurants that had a dine-in option due to covid. We discovered the Tin Shed and bou were we happy that we did. Made an rsvp online. This is a dog friendly spot with outdoor seating. I ordered the Spike breakfast burrito. The eggs were cooked great and the Chipotle aoli sauce made this dish amazing. We ordered biscuits to go and the raspberry jam is to die for! We will be back if ever in the area again.

Food & service on a high level

By Samurai030 |

By walking down the Alberta Street, to find a place for dinner, we decided the Tin Shed would be a nice option. With a cozy, simple atmosphere (also with an outside area) it felt good to be there immediately. The service was pretty good. We´ve been served by a guy who was in training that day and actually he definitely did a good job. The service was good, fast, flexible (we changed the table) and very friendly, withouth being "too friendly". We had several dishes and starters. Actually all of them had a great taste, were fresh and delicious. We also had a small dessert, afterwards we were filled and satisfied completely. The price level is fair.

Better places nearby

By BnThrDnThat |

Went for lunch at 12:30 on a Friday. It took one hour from the time we put our names down for a reservation until the time the food actually arrived at our table. We ordered the breakfast burrito and coffee and they were OK with not a lot of flavor. There were a couple dogs on leashes near us and a small fight broke out when a biscuit fell from a neighboring table. Then we realized why this place was voted the #1 Dog Friendly Restaurant in Portland and Portland is a very dog friendly town. I rate my dining experiences on service and food, so I rate this café low on those. There are places with better food and service nearby.

Make sure you come hungry

By howardappel |

Waited forty five minutes for a table for five, worth the wait. Friendly service good coffee. Huge portions of really good food, Our waiter helped us decide what to order and we were not disappointed. Everything on the menu looks good, you will be happy you came here.

Funky Setting

By Spartan58 |

The Tin Shed Cafe and Bar is a funky no frills setting. Dogs may be brought into the covered patio area, not the bar area. There are two "doggie menu" selections, with water provided for your pet. The menu is fairly diverse with gluten-free choices available. The portions offer value and should satisfy even a large appetite. A fair number of sides may be added to any selection.

What a fantastic find! Humans and Poodle loved it!

By marybeth_abarbanel |

Casual but delicious dining in an eclectic place. Fabulous service. Several excellent menu choices with generous portions. Loved the risotto and salad. Friends had macaroni and cheese, various salads, burgers. All great! Was traveling with a dog, who was welcome there. Not only that, there was a doggie menu!

Best hot sauce

By Jessie B |

Hands down best hot sauce I have ever had, I brought some home and I will not share with anyone! I’m down to the last drop :( when visiting always get a jar to take home you will wish you bought more

Amazing breakfast food, super flavorful, GO HERE!

By TropikalParadize |

Oh. My. Perhaps one of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten...this place is something else! Definitely worth the wait, which was substantial, however I would wait double the time just to have one of their biscuits again...I can't put into words how good those biscuits are!!! For serious. We came here on New Years Day, so of course everyone was waiting for brunch...but finally we got to our table and were seated. As other Yelpers have mentioned, this place is dog-friendly, which is a huge plus. As we were looking over the menu, it was hard to decide because EVERYTHING looked amazing...I finally went with the Roll Over, which was potato cakes (hashbrowns), scrambled eggs, and sausage, all with bacon-gravy over top. And of course a biscuit on the side. Wow. Needless to say I was excited. When the food came out, it looked impressive...and it tasted even better! This might have been the best breakfast I have ever had...the hashbrowns were perfect, the eggs and sausage were seasoned perfectly, and the bacon-gravy, well....it was sublime. To top it all off the biscuit was absolutely divine. Those biscuits don't need anything on them even, just eating them plain is amazing, however they do have some amazing raspberry jam at the table that I'm sure was homemade. The whole breakfast was a religious experience and I'm still thinking about it and wishing I was there right now! I HIGHLY recommend this place, if you are looking for good breakfast/brunch fare do yourself a favor and GO HERE!! Its amazing and I can't wait to come back, even though there was a bit of a wait it was DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!! YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE!!! I loved it if you couldn't tell.

Saturday Brunch

By AprilA7 |

Fun, laid back, eclectic atmosphere with delicious food and drink! The Bloody Mary's were full of flavor and the food was fresh, tasty and big enough portions to share! The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Fun, delicious lunch, fantastic service

By mountainsnh2000 |

Upon arriving in Portland for my first visit, a friend took me to the Tin Shed. As a dog lover it was really neat to see several dogs hanging out with their people while dining! It's a casual but cool ambience and the servers were friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and yummy. If I lived here, I'd be here all the time!

The crowds know

By brwydave02 |

We have tried to eat breakfast at the Tin Shed twice. The first time we just drove by - a large crowd waiting outside, but on the second attempt there was parking almost in front and several empty tables - we were seated immediately. Service was friendly and prompt and the prices for the Portland Breakfast scene in the ballpark. I had the breakfast burrito which was a little bland for my tastes and my spouse's "benihill" (benedict) was good, but not the best in Portland. Sides are potato cake and cheese grits. Both very good, but the potato was slightly better - there is the option to order half sizes of both - the best choice.

Long wait, good food

By Jon H |

My wife and I received a gift card and decided to go on a Sunday for breakfast. The wait was about 45 minutes, but we expected that. The help-yourself coffee was a nice touch. The food was really good and the service was just right. The only downside was that they are very dog friendly, so don't be surprised if there are dogs laying on the floor besides you. Some dogs like to stare at you, hoping you drop something for them. The service staff is very hard working and constantly on the move, but willing to be flagged down for something. We will definitely go back. My wife had the "Stay" and I had the "Roll Over." Both were good, but the Stay was super garlicky (and my wife loves garlic."

Portland Visit

By Rick W |

The Tin Shed is one of those unique places you shouldn't miss. A dog-friendly restaurant was new to me, but it worked. All day breakfast options added to the usual menu items. Well presented & delicious. Highly recommended

Best Brunch in Portland

By 5eaAirLand |

Fantastic and filling brunch! Our party of two was seated quickly. Our Mimosa and Bloody Mary were delivered promptly. They were pint-sized cocktails, $10 each. For my meal, I ordered the Roll Over Stacked Scrambler: pork sausage and scrambled eggs topped with mushroom-rosemary gravy over a potato pancake served with a buttermilk biscuit. I didn't think I could finish everything but it was just too good! This is a pet-friendly dining experience that also offers a dog menu.

Definitely a piece of Portland

By KHForever |

We wanted to visit a local restaurant that provided great food options and the feel of portland off the beaten path. Our waiter was good/chill, loved the location. Great coffee, the everything nice breakfast was good, great to get a good vegan sausage. The french toast and potato cake was freakin amazing! My husband ordered the eggs benedict breakfast, just okay. Otherwise would have given a higher review. A great stop for brunch.

Rare 5 star review

By Erik M |

I do not give 5 stars very often but our food was outstanding, the service was friendly and professional, the vibe was really laid-back and even the self-serve french style coffee was pretty good. If you are in Portland, you want to check this place out.

Amazing brunches!

By Gengis25 |

I've just finished my first trip to the USA and Tin Shed was one of the highlights. I was taken on a food tour of Portland and I absolutely loved Tin Shed so ended up going three times. I loved the fact that when its busy you can just grab your drip coffee to drink outside while you wait. My first visit I had the everything naughty so got my first experience of American biscuits and gravy and I thought they were amazing. The second visit I had the Benni Hill with cheese grits and on the final visit I had the burrito. All the food was excellent and the service was always friendly. The restaurant does allow dogs but this never seemed to be a problem as the dogs were all well behaved and sat under the tables.

Not dog friendly

By kelbelle2000 |

If you have a dog who barks from time to time AND if there are sensitive old women in the dog friendly area of this restaurant, management will choose the dog-less patrons who want no barking over patrons with dogs that let out one bark approximately 4 or 5 times in a 15 to 20 minute time span (I'm trying to acknowledge the fact my dog DID bark a few times.) I left very embarrassed and I am sad that I can't go back here because the food is good. Dogs ARE allowed (I wouldn't go as far as to say ACTUALLY WELCOMED) but your dog better not bark if another dog walks in or you will looked down upon and possibly asked to leave.

A wait, a price, but good.

By augustleroy |

The question you must ask yourself is how much time are you prepared to risk if you should decide to eat here. The food is very good, the service excellent, the atmosphere relaxed, and the prices are fair, six adults, full breakfasts, plus tip, $195.00. Parking is a problem so factor this in when going to the Tin Shed.

Best Breakfast/Brunch

By bridget |

This place is the cutest, coziest in all of Portland. Another top place on my list of recommendations. I love coming here. Good bacon (although I'm vegan now, oops), complimentary tea/coffee, and delicious vegan options such as tofu scrambles. Good toast too. Everything's just lovely. Always busy though cause people know how good it is. Can't wait to go back.

Great mid-week breakfast!

By fromthebluffs |

We have lived in Portland for over a decade and finally made it to the Tin Shed Garden Cafe on the Eastside of town. What a fun atmosphere and great food. We will definitely be going back. My daughter and I ordered the Everything Naughty and Everything Nice plates so we could sample. So much yummy food- the biscuits are amazing and so was the potato cake. Our server was friendly and efficient and the wait was not long. We enjoyed that so many people bring their dogs along and the self serve coffee was a huge hit with hubby!

Great biscuits and big drinks for breakfast

By Raymond P |

An area attraction with people almost always waiting for a table. This is not for people who want a light meal. The breakfasts are enough to get a lumber jack through the morning and the rest of us through most of the day. Big and flakey biscuits. Some interesting selections and specials. As a bar it does not stand out with weak drinks but as a restaurant, you can't miss. I would recommend.

Fantastic Brunch!

By sharrongeg |

Such a great breakfast! Most entrees were $16 to $18 with large portions. Although I don’t usually care for grits, their cheese grits were outstanding! Our server was David and he was terrific. The day we were there was quite brisk and we sat outside in a tent type structure. I was worried I would be cold, but the heat lamps kept us toasty warm. Highly recommend.

So tasty!

By kaylamarie1985 |

Loads of vegetarian options. Cool atmosphere. Dog friendly- fed my pup the best meal he’s probably ever eaten. There was a bit of a wait but it was well worth it

Very good

By fencepost |

Arrived about 9:00 am on a Saturday morning. Had about a 15 minute wait. I ordered The Cure. Eggs over easy, bacon gravy with cheese grits. Should have gotten scrambled eggs as there was nothing to mop up the egg yoke. Gravy and grits were delicious and the biscuits were the best I have eaten in a long time.

The only downside is the wait

By everydayacupuncture |

But who doesn't mind waiting on Alberta? They just text you when your table is ready, so stroll or shop. It's worth it for the food! And the service, the ambience, and the great pet-friendly atmosphere. Yum, yum, fun.

Eclectic atmosphere, outdoor seating, abbreviated weekend menu

By Dennis B |

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The seating was outdoors and it was a hot July day, so we were uncomfortably hot during the meal despite umbrellas providing some shade. I was also a bit disappointed in the weekend menu. I had seen their menu on the website and the item I selected was not part of the weekend menu. I had the Bridge Burger and my wife had the Goat Boy. The food and service were good, not exceptional.

Great food or a quick pint

By 3rdOregon |

Lots of activity yet enough room for a private conversation. We have been many times for a great meal; this was a quick visit while shopping the `Neighborhood for a reasonable $ pint.

excellent and fun

By Teresa M |

we returned to tin shed yesterday for lunch...we sat in the garden with pbrs and people watching...we chatted with the owner and recollected rosalyn's yrs ago, and how special still, tin shed is today...i had the salmon sandwich with salad, and my partner had the forager, full of crimini ushrooms and a salad......we've had the server/staffperson before, and he is wonderful....everything was so delicious... it's like coming home... thx so much....

So good!

By Ella Z |

Went with some friends last week and I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere was amazing and the service was great. Of course, the food was good as well! Will definitely return next time I’m in Portland :)

Just a real good breakfast. Avocado eggs Benedict real tasty. Cheese grits were good too Good coffee and fast friendly service. Dining al fresco was a cherry on top of this great breakfast stop. Well worth it.

Love Tin Shed

By Mokimomma2 |

Great food but LOVE the fact we can bring our dog in and they have healthy food for her also. Staff was great, atmosphere is fun. Was happy I had my coat in the winter but it was perfect in the summer. Will return many more times!

Tin Shed Cafe

By Larry E |

A great breakfast stop. Food is outstanding, service very friendly. They had a good selection of breakfast meals, all of them delicious. Real “down Home” cooking. Oh, and the coffee’s good too.

LOVE IT

By Gabrielle R |

we had an excellent brunch on a monday morning. parking was easy. they were busy but we didnt have to wait. the food was AMAZING. i had the good dog scramble over potato cakes. SO good. very generous portions. i wanted to try a biscuit on the side which was fabulous. but i couldnt finish more than half my plate. we took it on the drive home and i ate it 3 hours later- cold but not refrigerated- still delicious! hubby had the everything naughty plate. aso generous and delicious. they are dog friendly and have a couple of pup menu items. as we were driving home to southern oregon, a friend texted for a lunch recommendation i sent them to tin shed and they loved it! within a week i sent other friends who also enjoyed it. we will be back for sure!

Long wait, good brunch

By travelagentreplies |

Had to wait because it was lunchtime, but had a Bloody Mary and all was all right. Great service and lots of choices. Nice for kids too. Sandwiches were tasty and prices are ok. My family goes here often but it was my first time. Will go back.

Perfect when in Portland

By Fahrvergnuegte |

If it hadn't been for our friend who promised us an "out of the box" breakfast, we might not have had gone in there. From the outside it's not very inviting. Actually the inside is not the most cozy setting either but all three of us enjoyed a meal of various kind of stacked egg dishes. I loooved the raspberry jam. The server was talkative and friendly. They even have items for your dog on the menu. How cute is that!

Beautiful brunch

By starkris9 |

Delicious and creative brunch dishes with lots of vegetarian options. Fresh food and friendly atmosphere, a must stop for brunch!

Excellent food, slow service

This place is not recommended if you are on a time limit. We needed to wait at least a half hour to be seated, and then at least a half hour for our food to arrive. There seemed to be many empty tables, but there were still at least 5 other families waiting to be seated. It was a Thursday afternoon, but the restaurant would not fill up their empty tables! Absolutely ridiculous! But what the restaurant lacked in timeliness, it more than made up for in its food. I ordered a fungus amongus sandwich and it tasted very fresh, with a delicious, creative variety of textures and flavors. Both my parents were more than satisfied with their meals. The waiters were all very peppy and enthusiastic. Tin shed had a hip, modern feel. Dogs are allowed and every meal can be made vegetarian.

Best food on the trip

By WRS |

I will say this, I am from Louisiana and we eat pretty good down here, and the food here I thought was excellent. I had the San Fran and others in our party had the Heartless Artichoke and the Fungus Amoungus. All I can say is WOW! All were great. It didn't seem to me that the prices were too unreasonable when you think of the quality of food. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

Way overhyped

By chef_jen_m |

The menu presented fantastic options, including creative wording. That wording was so creative however, that I was shocked when my order came and it was just plain eggs, meat, and my side. After that small let down, I was still excited to taste the food. I have been a breakfast chef for a while, so I do have high standards from breakfast/brunch restaurants, but I can enjoy simple food that tastes good. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case with my order. It was incredibly bland. The sausage was flavorful, but that was the only item with any flavor. I also ordered their Bloody Mary and was hugely disappointed. They do have a special sauce that is extremely good, so I drenched my entire breakfast with it which helped. Sad it didn’t live up to the hype and reviews.

Best breakfast in Portland

This is a must stop for anyone in the Portland area! The roll over with rosemary gravy is delicious. My husband loves the biscuits and fresh jam, it’s fabulous!

My wife and I stopped by Tin Shed for brunch on way to airport. My wife ordered the Spiked Burrito which was extremely tasty, I ordered the You gotta have it 2 eggs with bacon, cheese grits and biscuit, everything about this was excellent, the bacon was thick and crispy, the cheese grits were delicious and the biscuit was fluffy and light, The food at Tin Shed was fantastic

Portlandia Personified

By DewPortland |

If you have seen the TV show Portlandia and liked it, you will love the Tin Shed. The restaurant has two areas, the patio and the bar. Well behaved dogs are welcome in the patio area. The atmosphere is very eclectic with wooden table tops and benches along with traditional painted aluminum patio furniture. Lots of neon hair, nose rings, and grunge dress abound with people of all ages. The sound of conversations, dogs barking, and babies crying for extended periods of time envelope an incredible menu that is heavily brunch oriented. We each had a different dish and all were delicious. The homemade biscuit is out of this world. Lots of vegan options, burgers, and egg dishes abound. Visiting this restaurant is an event when you visit Portland!

The gravy

You can choose between several kinds of gravy and that's what sold me, delicious! The best gravy I've had and the breakfast itself is pretty darn good. Worth the wait if there is one.

Unique and Good

My husband found this on trip advisor and it did not disappoint. I had the vege pesto eggs and he had salmon Benedict. Both were delicious. It is a small restaurant but outside area you can bring you dogs. We did not have to wait but there was a line when we left. If you like exploring neighborhood culture, you will love the Tin Shed.

Cozy Atmosphere & Yummy Food!

My boyfriend and I were visiting Portland in August 2022 and wanted to have a hearty breakfast before we check out all the gorgeous waterfalls this state has to offer (okay not all but a lot of 'em). We decided to check this place out after all the rave reviews on both yelp and Tripadvisor, and we were not disappointed! We had both gotten the Spike-ish with potato cakes, and it was yummy with a capital YUM! It has everything you want in a breakfast burrito: eggs, black beans, onions, peppers, arugula, and even salsa; all seasoned to perfection. It was filling enough to last us throughout the small hikes we took but light enough to not make us feel like we were carrying a food baby. There was plenty of seating - both indoor and outdoor. They do have a self serve refreshment bar in case you wanted some coffee, tea, or water and even had cute little mugs you could use. Our server was friendly and quick to place our orders, which was much appreciated. We would def come back for the chill vibes and great food!

What a Delicious breakfast

By Dan S |

Had not been here for breakfast before reading about its rating on trip advisor...so we came and were really happy we did! The unique menus were made from scratch and very unique pairings of breakfast items that were really diverse and amazing. The homemade biscuits and sausage gravy-yum and the Good Dog omlette (most popular item on breakfast menu we learned) was stellar. Best breakfast in long time in PDX to me. Even had a dog menu for the patio. Low key place, quintessential Portland, chilled and greatly understated, they let the food hold court here. Will be back to try the many other delicious items on their menu. Cant say enough about this place.

Like eating in the Pound

We stopped in here recently. It seems everyone had a dog except us. I have nothing against dogs but when people are feeding them off there plates and it smells of wet dog its a bit much. When we were there it also was a bit chili inside. Food was just ok.

Great atmosphere, staff and delicious food!

The staff was friendly and welcoming. The decor was cute, trendy. I love that they have menu items for dogs as well. The kids didn't like their chocolate milk, I wasn't going to even say anything and the waiter replaced them for us. The food was amazing.

One of the Best Brunches

By Constantine J |

As we get ready to go back into lockdown here in PDXn I can say with confidence that I'm super grateful that one of my last brunches out was here at Tin Shed! At the same time I'm bummed because I wish I could keep going back. This place is AWESOME!! Location is ideal as it is right on Alberta street with plenty of local hot spots and is perfect to walk around and explore. The wait to get in on a Sunday wasn't bad at all. We had scheduled a reservation beforehand and they had us seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. Our waiter was super friendly and kind. Always nice to be light hearted and joke around a bit. You could tell he was smiling behind his mask. Menu was great. Plenty of options to choose from. Really seemed like you couldn't go wrong with whatever choice you made. I went with the Good Dog. Damn was it good. Went with half and half potato cake and cheese grits on the bottom. Such incredible flavor with the chipotle sauce and sausage too. The best compliment to it was the homemade biscuit! Those things melt in your mouth and go both ways savory or sweet. Meals were perfectly paired with a spicy bloody mary and mimosas. Definitely recommend this as a great brunch spot. Will most certainly be coming back when we reopen!!
